- 0:10Drama, Darling Drama, Darling Drama, Darling Indeed Drama, Darling. Welcome
- 0:25back. It's Tuesday. Today we're going to recap the Real Housewives of New
- 0:31York. Oh a reboot. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy,
- 0:37what a day I've had, like, you know, some time to let
- 0:41it sync in and things like that. And of course with me today is
- 0:46Emily Deesis. Welcome back, Emily one. Hello, I'm a reb Yes,
- 0:53she's rebooted, recalibrated, restructured. What have you now? Okay,
- 1:00so Emily, let's tell the darlings. When I connected with you this morning,
- 1:06I noticed that you were back in the studio, back in your skin
- 1:10studio, back in stadio. Mm hmm. And this is just a screen,
- 1:15guys, this isn't a wall. This is in a zoom filter and
- 1:18behind here are some my clothes and peeking around the corner, I just see
- 1:26a classic piece. And not to be passive aggressive to the new cast of
- 1:32Roney, but this is a Luyanne piece for the masses. It's it's the
- 1:38legs, it's the one piece. And I was like, we got to
- 1:42pull them out because we have to give a nod to lou You pulled some
- 1:47things. You pulled some items and it is the jumpsuit from the Luanne de
- 1:52les Sepp's collection. Remember that that lace number, it's reddish. And she
- 1:57wore it out and she is like, Darling, what do you think of
- 2:00my new what do you think of my line? Ramona? And it was
- 2:04like a not Halloween, it was a holiday party and Ramona queen, Oh
- 2:09my god, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it like that. I
- 2:15and so she said to Ramona, do you like it, durling, and
- 2:17Ramona goes, you know what, I'm not sure? You know what,
- 2:21I'm not sure. So she was really on the fence about it. Which
- 2:23that's why we love Ramona is that she's like, I'm not quite sure if
- 2:27I like it, so I'm not gonna give it to you. But you
- 2:30know, women supporting women. I think at that point she probably should have
- 2:32been like, it's you know what, I like it, but it is
- 2:36a jumpsuit. Now. When Emily put this in front of my eyes,
- 2:40I was like, wow, your genius, and I said to myself,
- 2:44I have the same jumpsuit Emily, to which she was not surprised. Didn't
- 2:47bad an, I you know, it was like, yeah, of course
- 2:51you do. Pull it out, bring it out. And so here we
- 2:54are with our Luanne hanging jumpsuits in the background as we RecA app the reboot
- 3:00of New York. So take it for what it is, you know,
- 3:05just take it for what it is. The Ogs are, I guess metaphorically,
- 3:07uh and and and Teresa, I'm going to be using an analogy this
- 3:12is it's like they're always with us, you know. The jumpsuit is representing
- 3:17the foundation in which the New York City women from the beginning, the Ogs,
- 3:22they laid the foundation and then we would not be here without them.
- 3:25So and Amy and I this morning went to the beach and we put a
- 3:29flower wreath in the ocean for the Roney wives before that, if passed on
- 3:35the franchises not pass on past that other right exactly. Let's make that very
- 3:40very very clear. Oh gosh, So we are very excited about that.
- 3:47So today Roney reboot. Before we get into that, we have a little
- 3:53bit of serving dish to discuss. So Emily, let's do thatving dish.
- 3:59Well, you know on our drama Darling Zoom Hangout, our summer Zoom Hangout
- 4:05that happened on Sunday night, which was like a party that never ended,
- 4:12which still going on. It's practically honestly, I would not be surprised.
- 4:16At one point, I was like, I do have to go eat and
- 4:18take my lexapro because I was I was two hours off my schedule and that's
- 4:23just dangerous. Yeah, you cannot do that. What are you trying to
- 4:28do to her? But I was like, should I make someone else a
- 4:34moderator so you guys can still hang? And they're like, you know what,
- 4:36We're good. We're gonna all go home, like so, you know,
- 4:41at that point, I think everyone was exhausted, but we had such
- 4:44a great time. Can't wait for the next one. Anyway. During that
- 4:47zoom Ben from Beverly Hills who has been a loyal listener and is quite the
- 4:54darling and he's always been boots on the ground in Beverly Hills. He has
- 4:59an amazing tick talk. Ben Feiner is his name, and he is always
- 5:04like posting things. If it's not musical theater stuff, it's it's stuff about
- 5:10like what's going on with vander Pump Rules or Beverly Hills because he lives in
- 5:13that area, so he always has the four to one one on what's going
- 5:15on, like in the sur alley or like when they were revamping the Sir
- 5:20Alley and things like that. Like he you know, he goes by,
- 5:24he sees what's going on, and he reports back in. Now he's really
- 5:28been reporting on something about her. He's been on the ground floor of that,
- 5:33just checking in on construction. He does a lot of updates on his
- 5:38TikTok and the last update he had was that and then he chimed in on
- 5:45the drama Darling hangout from his treadmill by the way at Jim. He was
- 5:50at genmill and he was like, yeah, they took the sign down something
- 5:57about her sign down, and they cleared off the paddy. The windows are
- 6:01like, you know, blocked out, not boarded up. I don't want
- 6:04to go too far, just the shades are pulled Okay, you can't see
- 6:09in. And he said that because of zoning restrictions and things like that with
- 6:14the patio, they are actually having to push back their opening because of what's
- 6:19happening with zoning and the patio construction because they wanted to have seating and apparently
- 6:26it wasn't right with the city. So they're actually having to in order to
- 6:30make seating outside, they're going to take down that patio. So they're going
- 6:34to rip it out, I believe, and then they're going to make sure
- 6:40a cute patio, but it won't house many patrons of Something about Her.
- 6:43If you were to look closely, it's oh, yeah, you know,
- 6:46it's cute, but it's not user friendly. And so now they are going
- 6:50to I think expand the seating outside down that alley. And as we all
- 6:55know, if it's a vander pump Rules restaurant or such or bar, you
- 7:00need an alley. So I'm excited Ali. I'm excited about Ali seating if
- 7:04in fact that's what it's going to be. And you know, he said
- 7:08that chef Penny, who is the chef for Something about Her, really pipes
- 7:13in in the comments on his TikTok saying things like we're just broken hearted that
- 7:16we can't you know open this has been a real like curveball, and you
- 7:23know, one of the darlings, Mike my bish graphic artist, shout out.
- 7:29He was like, well, you know, I'm going to just be
- 7:31a little devil's advocate and say, is this drama darling that's being you know,
- 7:38whipped up during production because he's like, I think they probably will use
- 7:45the opening of Something about Her as the finale, And what's an opening without
- 7:50some drama, darling, And so like, you know, maybe this is
- 7:55all for the cameras that they're having issues with this and that and the other
- 7:58thing, to which Ben finer, you know, rebuttal, he says no,
- 8:03he says, this is real, This is really happening. Chef Penny
- 8:07is very upset about it, and this is a real setback. So look,
- 8:09darlings, you be the judge? Do you be the judge? Is
- 8:13James Kennedy opening because he got himself an alley? Hi? Everyone, Allie's
- 8:22he Allie's seating here and something about us Rice Jill's and Alley with her daughter
- 8:35Allie and James's Allie. I mean it's an alley party. Oh god,
- 8:39I think, well, let's see what I can see it going either way.
- 8:46And also sometimes, like I every restaurant I have ever heard of never
- 8:50opens on time, So now it could be real drama that just so happens
- 8:56to really serve the show well and still be awful to deal with in reality,
- 9:03right, and I mean real life? So who knows? Okay,
- 9:07well we'll see. I like that theory though. The theory's great because once
- 9:13I heard it, I couldn't unhear it. Yeah, and I was like,
- 9:15oh, that's one hundred percent what it is. But then Ben from
- 9:18Beverly Hills was like, Chef Penny, she's upset, and I'm like,
- 9:20well, if it's she's really upset, then there maybe there's something to it,
- 9:24you know. I don't know more vander Pump Rules News. I don't
- 9:35know if you know who Lucas Gage is. I don't, but remember a
- 9:39long time ago Katie Maloney had like a picture with him. They were like
- 9:43laying in bed or something like that. And this was a long time ago
- 9:46because I wanted to say country singer when you said that, and he's a
- 9:50model. I think he's a model. But anyway, La La and Katie
- 9:54Maloney went to his opening of like his hearty for being a model for the
- 10:03Giorgio Armani scent. So I just wanted you all to know that, thank
- 10:09you, Aqua Digiu. And and he like reposted the picture on the step
- 10:16and repeat with Katie and Lala, so they Lalla says the knight smelled like
- 10:20heaven very proud of our Lucas. Gage didn't know they were that tight.
- 10:24I'll show you, show it to you here. So but it's interesting because
- 10:28he has like four hundred thousand followers, you know what I mean. And
- 10:31I'm like, I E, this is a blind spot for me. Kids,
- 10:35I don't know who this is, but apparently it's a big deal.
- 10:37Well, I love it, and I do think that, thank you love
- 10:41I do because the vander Pump kids have crossed over. Mmm, they're aving
- 10:48and there another dimension, yes, and I hope they can keep it up.
- 10:52Okay, I hope this isn't like a passing thing, right, I
- 10:56know. I hope so too. I mean, well, I can't wait
- 11:00to see Ariana and Dancing with the Stars. I'm excited about that. I
- 11:03don't know when it airs, but she's probably a thick of it right now.
- 11:07We won't watch it, but okay, I'll watch her. I'll watch
- 11:13her like I'll fast forward to her stuff. I guess like that, absolutely
- 11:18I do. It's a really long show and now it's streaming, so it's
- 11:20like one of those things where you have to go online and find it where
- 11:24I would just when Ken You was on, when any of the Brav celebrities
- 11:28were on, I would tape it, you know, old school, and
- 11:33then I would just fast forward to the dances. And then if a dance
- 11:37looked interesting, I'd watch, but if it wasn't, I would fast forward
- 11:41right through it and get to the Brav celebrity. So, you know,
- 11:43look, it is shocking the Dancing with the Stars is not no longer on
- 11:48like television, you know what I mean, because the demographic for that show
- 11:52are people who have television sets, you know what I'm saying, and Basic
- 11:58cable and Network TV, the Big Bang Theory watchers. They are whatever the
- 12:03big CSI heads see. Yes, exactly. In other vander Pump Rules news,
- 12:11and this came out a few days ago, but Emily haven't had a
- 12:13chance to report this, but apparently Raquel Levis is now officially going to go
- 12:20by her birth name Rachel. She we did it. We did it,
- 12:24everybody she did. Yes, she wants to take back that name that she
- 12:30feels that people have weaponized against her and call her by her name, her
- 12:37original birth name. And apparently the name Raquel was something that was a bit
- 12:43of a nickname, and then she ended up going with her The rest you
- 12:45know, for her life and now she is feeling like coming out of her
- 12:50wherever she was for a little while, the rehabit, the facility that she
- 12:54was at for her mental health. She has found that this is something that
- 12:58will give her, you know, her ownership back of that. And I
- 13:01think it's a good move on her behalf to be honest with you, and
- 13:05I'm going to respect that. And because it was a weird thing, you
- 13:09know, when people like, what what was Jack? What's Jacks's real name,
- 13:15Jason? You know, when people are like, okay Jason or okay
- 13:18Lauren from Utah, you know, it does seem like such a low blow.
- 13:22It's just a little bit weird too well, because it's like when you
- 13:26change your name, what you're saying is I'm evolving into something that is something
- 13:31I want to become. And if there's any if it's not authentic at all,
- 13:37it just is prime for getting under your skin. You've just identified that
- 13:45you are not comfortable as the name you were given, and so it's the
- 13:48easiest thing to go to. It is. It's the easiest thing to go
- 13:52to. Absolutely, it's still pretty funny when people were doing good at the
- 13:56beginning, at the beginning. But we'll see we're in a new new time.
- 14:03So congratulations on your new on your name. Oops Jah says well done.
- 14:13You know I meant to hit the music. I'll never It's never gonna
- 14:18be right, darlings, this is what it is. She's behind Norris.
- 14:24You need to get like Howard Stern has Fred Norris who just hits all the
- 14:28buttons exactly. So couldn't you hire him? Well, he's he never retired,
- 14:33did he? So? I mean, bitch, bofe. He was
- 14:41toying with that for a night, for a night or two anyway, okay.
- 14:45Also, LVP went on social media thanking people for the Anny nomination,
- 14:50thinking, bravo Niko Laane. If it were for Nika Laine's fun lighting,
- 14:56we wouldn't be so I was happy about that. Oh boy. You know.
- 15:03Also another Emmy nomination host for a reality or competition program. Let's give
- 15:09it up to pad Malakshmi for Top Chef. I am so happy about this,
- 15:15you know, especially with her retiring from Top Chef and after twenty seasons,
- 15:20yet another Emmy nom I don't know if she's gotten an Emmy for her
- 15:26hosting. I feel like I shouldn't know that, but that's also one of
- 15:30those shows I would have thought that I would I would say yes because it's
- 15:33a beloved, highly respected show. I know they've won award. Yeah,
- 15:39they've won awards. Amazing race you right, Yeah, they've won awards.
- 15:41I just don't know if pad Ma has. But I think you're right.
- 15:43I think we can all assume. Yes. Thank you San Pellegrino for my
- 15:48Emmy nomination. So that uh, I think that's pretty much the news for
- 15:56today. Now, Emily, we have what is to be the new version
- 16:03of New York that we need to get into. So let's get right into
- 16:06the Real house Was of New York, hobb duh. Can we pause,
- 16:11right quick, right quick? And Emily, as the Luane jumpsuit hangs beside
- 16:21us in remembrance, we now go into the Real Housewives of New York reboot.
- 16:27Listen, let's leave our baggage behind us, and let's look at this
- 16:32and this is how I did it. I don't know about you, but
- 16:33before we even discuss it, I want to talk about the process of shifting
- 16:37our the gears in our heads and in our minds and our hearts and souls
- 16:41as we know moved into this New New York. For me, I procrastinated
- 16:49about as long as I possibly could to watch it. And it's not because
- 16:55I wasn't curious. It's because I just couldn't shift. I couldn't make that
- 16:59shift. And it's also not because I was being a hater. I wanted.
- 17:03I was excited about the playground of New York, you know what I
- 17:07mean. I was excited to have that as a backdrop, so that in
- 17:10and of itself, to me, is already a selling point. I knew
- 17:14that they could just basically throw you know, shit on a shingle, and
- 17:18I'd probably be like, it's actually pretty good, you know what I mean,
- 17:21because they have the New York backdrop, and anyone who lives in New
- 17:25York, who is living that life just by default, is going to be
- 17:29compelling in and of itself, just by way of where they live, by
- 17:33what they do, by what they wear, and so that in and of
- 17:37itself, to me, I knew was going to be a huge selling point,
- 17:40and I already knew i'd be in so now was just a matter of
- 17:45like, you know, wrapping my head around a whole knew what I feels
- 17:48like, it feels like a whole new city to embrace in the sense that
- 17:52you know when Potomac came out or Dallas, I feel like Vicky Gunbils and
- 17:56another dude, bitch. I gotta like you know what I mean, Like
- 18:00it's like, here we go again. I got to learn all we have
- 18:03to learn all new people, we have to learn all their backstories. It's
- 18:06just a lot of work. And you know, we're fatigued as an audience
- 18:10by some level, and we're like overserved, and so in a way,
- 18:14it's like it feels like a fresh drink. But I'm also like I was
- 18:18hesitant to try because I'm just like I'm tired. I'm a tired old lady.
- 18:22Okay, I'm tired of working getting to do do people. And so
- 18:27that was my process. Now I'll hold back my opinions on the show in
- 18:32general because I want to hear your process. I'mily going into this here.
- 18:37It wasn't I just turned it on. I didn't really have a process.
- 18:41I didn't and I was curious as as a production how Bravo Like, I
- 18:52was like, this is like such a bold choice. This is what I
- 18:55was thinking ahead of it. I hope that they can land this thing like
- 18:59I that they know what they're doing. I love it. Like I couldn't
- 19:07believe how well that first pilot was to me. It feels like a pilot.
- 19:14Yes, it feels like a pilot. Yes, so like that this
- 19:18first episode, I was just like, this really does feel so fresh.
- 19:22Even the intro is fresh. It feels everything feels updated. All the women
- 19:30are really compelling to me. All their looks are like like their fashion is
- 19:36like so on point where I'm like, we're not going to see like a
- 19:41beaded tunic for a minute, which would be nice, And I think I
- 19:48think, like, also, you know, I feel like we are seeing
- 19:52these these women are the are Roney wives of yesteryear. These are these are
- 20:00like uh Sonya, Lou Ramona, pre market, crash, pree divorce.
- 20:07We're kind of seeing like, yes, we haven't seen these women hit their
- 20:11financial hardships yet, right, fascinating to me. I mean, what was
- 20:17so great about seeing the Old Guard is that, like you see how they
- 20:22came out of things on the other side, and we didn't see like we
- 20:25didn't we didn't see a lot of their divorces. We didn't see all like
- 20:29they're right sizing but yeah, so I don't know. So this I'm just
- 20:34so insanely like surprised at how much I love it. Okay, so me
- 20:41too. With all that said, kind of having a little bit of baggage
- 20:45coming into this, I was like, oh, this is so great.
- 20:48I mean, just really falling in love with all the people, all the
- 20:55women wanting to know more, loving just the the everything that I'm seeing.
- 21:00The apartments are incredible, the fashion, the you know, just the now,
- 21:07the youth, but also the relatability of like, I love that Jenna
- 21:12is what does she say? She was fifty four? Love that? You
- 21:17know, I like, I'm Jenna's obviously. I mean, I'm no surprise.
- 21:21I knew going in that Jenna Lines was probably going to be my favorite,
- 21:23and of course she is. I mean I can't get enough. I
- 21:26can't get enough right, and also fifty four but feels younger than every wife
- 21:32in every other city. Yes, you know, like just her lifestyle.
- 21:36Here's the thing we haven't seen a wife like. To me, the closest
- 21:40we've come to these kind of wives is Carol Radswell. I was just I
- 21:45was thinking the same thing. I was, like, they took Carol Rads
- 21:47Redsville, and they multiplied her. They like ai'ed her kind of you know,
- 21:52and she's like one of my top top faves of all time. Well,
- 21:56and I agree with you there too, because she brought something so fresh
- 22:00at the time and in a way that's that vibe yeah, that we're seeing
- 22:03now. Yeah. So I I also just there's like an edge and a
- 22:11grit to it that hasn't It just feels very like New York, even like
- 22:15the choices in terms of like how they're filming them in like Washington Park or
- 22:21like how they're filing you know, like in the Square, or like how
- 22:23like there was just something there's just something edgier to this, even though the
- 22:29edge isn't coming from the wives fighting, the edges coming from like their fashion.
- 22:36And yes, it's the New York. That's why New York to me
- 22:41will probably never fail because, like I said, the default of you're going
- 22:45to get people who are unbelievable, like if you can't just live not everyone
- 22:51can just live in New York City. I mean, I think that Aaron
- 22:55said it perfectly when she said that she got married young at twenty five.
- 22:59She said that, you know, twenty five in New York City is like
- 23:03thirty five in Kentucky, because it is you really do grow up faster.
- 23:07It's more fatiguing. Like I have a friend who worked in fashion who was
- 23:12basically living you know, the Devil Wears Prada. She that was basically her
- 23:17life and she now lives in Santa Clarita, and in many ways, it's
- 23:22like she seems so seasoned to me as a person, and she stands out
- 23:26to me as a person because it's like she's lived this unbelievable life and in
- 23:30such a short amount, like it was maybe six years, but really it's
- 23:33like dog years, you know what I mean. So I'm so excited that
- 23:40you feel that way too. It seems like, I would say a majority
- 23:44of people, because I haven't tried to really look to see what people are
- 23:47saying because I didn't want to be persuaded one way or the other. But
- 23:48it seems like now when I've checked, people are really gaga about it.
- 23:52Yeah. And that's not to say I don't want to see like Ramona and
- 23:59those gals on some other thing, and I get that it must be pretty
- 24:03hard for them. I can't imagine actually to have their franchise go on without
- 24:10them and be awesome. That must suck, but I think it really needed
- 24:15it, especially after that last Rowny season. I mean, it just feels
- 24:19like Ramona is not They're not evolved. I don't necessarily need to see a
- 24:26huge evolution, but I do need to see like some freshness, and just
- 24:33bringing in one or two cast members isn't going to do it. We were
- 24:38kind of seeing like kind of like a New York that is kind of generic
- 24:44in a way. Well, and there are different women, There are different
- 24:49looking women, There are different cultures and colors, and that is very,
- 24:55very very refreshing to see, which I think that we all want to see
- 25:00in in any franchise really, you know, in any franchise. But I
- 25:04did particularly love that they seem to know each other, you know, pretty
- 25:10good at least. I still have to kind of clock where we're at in
- 25:14terms of relationships, because Aaron has never been to Jenna's house and a lot
- 25:18of them met and fashion Well, we know that Brinn and Cy are best
- 25:23friends. Are they and Jessel too or are they I don't know. I
- 25:26don't know because if they're best friends, how did Brittant know Size House is
- 25:30a shoes off? House was well that okay. So that to me,
- 25:36I was wondering that too, because I was like, okay, hmm,
- 25:41was she saying that for the camera or was you know what I mean?
- 25:44That's what I was thinking. I don't know, but that's it. That
- 25:47to me, if I any editor worth their salt would be like, cut
- 25:51that out because she just said they're best friends. So like, I know,
- 25:56in my world, who's a shoes off house and I'm pack a pair
- 26:00of socks if need be, And also her being like I have an extra
- 26:03pair of house shoes, you know, I mean you should know that.
- 26:07Yeah, yeah, exactly. I was just gonna say, I said,
- 26:11Si, but I meant Brenna, Yeah, you know the rules at your
- 26:15best friend's house. It's so I was just kind of like, hmmm,
- 26:19yeah. To me, that seemed like a a camera an on camera exposition
- 26:26in a way. I'm going to give it to them that they said that,
- 26:30you know, for the cameras, but I don't know, I don't
- 26:32know, I'm not I'm not giving it. Well, I'm not being given.
- 26:36I love you know, you and I go back and forth with our
- 26:38tough love, and that's what gives us the balance that we need here with
- 26:44the drama. Now, I do love that they all met in fashion,
- 26:48at least most of them. And the drama that happens in this episode,
- 26:55which isn't much, but it was enough for me because like, we don't
- 26:59need it to be heavy handed obviously coming out of the gates, or else
- 27:02it will seem manufactured. And the fact that it was about a restaurant that
- 27:07Brinn didn't want to be caught dead in which we all know now I think
- 27:11is catch, right. Yeah, they're calling out the restaurant's catch him.
- 27:15It's pretty obvious when you watch it. They're like like they were explaining catch
- 27:19and I was like, catch is the shitty wife of this She's like,
- 27:25I don't want to say this person's shitty, but they're treating catch like Alex
- 27:29McCord. They were just like, I'm not I'm not going to I'm not
- 27:34going to catch. Like they're treating it like her Brooklyn Brownstone, you mean
- 27:40yes, or just her. They're just like she's oundated right the way the
- 27:45old life, the way like Ramona. And then we'll talk about Alex McCord
- 27:49back in the day. Is how this group is talking about in their opening
- 27:52Catch. I'm just glad it wasn't a restaurant that the OG New York Housewives
- 27:59would go to all the time, because that would be such a slam,
- 28:02you know what I mean, because we never really heard them be at Catch.
- 28:04We heard them be well like Cipriani, and you know we we saw
- 28:07the Boutique, which is now you know rip, but you know some of
- 28:11the other restaurants, uh, and I yeah, I can't what was Ramona's
- 28:15sports bar for a second, I don't know. It was like the Nette
- 28:21or some weird thing, like I have no clue. That was Wow,
- 28:26you just took me there. I'm like, whoa. We were thanks to
- 28:30all the darlings that told us Harry Harry Harry Dubin yes from an episode or
- 28:37two ago. Sorry we could not think of his name. We yeah,
- 28:41we appreciate that so much. But going back to the restaurant thing, I
- 28:45did really appreciate that. We did get a little uh, Brenna explaining that
- 28:52it's necessarily wait, Brenna, I Brenna because I kept calling her there was
- 28:59Brena. It makes no Brenda Brenda. But uh, when she was like
- 29:10Olive Gardens, fine, It's like it was something about this particular place in
- 29:15the trend in being trendy or whatever. Oh yeah, that she's not a
- 29:18D list model from It's not two thousand and five, right, And it
- 29:22was basically like, if you want to be seen, then you go to
- 29:27these particular restaurants in this order and then don't go to this. It wasn't
- 29:33about the food, it was about the scene. So she was like kind
- 29:37of a librow. I like that, so explaining it, Yeah, And
- 29:41I saw Aaron's point like it was a last minute thing. We had a
- 29:42ton of people and we needed to get somewhere, and New York is tough,
- 29:48like because a lot of those great restaurants that you do want to go
- 29:52to that that are not a scene are probably a little bit more you know,
- 29:56they're smaller, they're a little bit more intimate. But like, I
- 29:59don't I don't know how you get into Catch either. I mean, obviously
- 30:02people aren't like dying to get in or else they wouldn't have had that big
- 30:06of a table or was Aaron like, we want to be seen? I
- 30:08mean, was that that's I guess my question we're going to be the New
- 30:12Housewives, should we just go to Catch? Because I would think that maybe
- 30:17they would call her out on that, like why why do you want to
- 30:21you know, Aaron just wants to be seen. I don't know. I'm
- 30:23not sure that's a good point because there would have been three new wives there,
- 30:29right, yes, and their husbands and right, so maybe they were
- 30:33trying Aaron did have some motive there. But I mean, I guess the
- 30:41bottom line is, then don't say you're going home and then do a selfie
- 30:47at another restaurant. I mean, I don't typically like love to dig into
- 30:52what obviously are off production. But you know, they obviously knew that she
- 30:57was going to see that. So were they stirring up drama like a week
- 31:00before they go to and you know, film or what. I don't know.
- 31:04I mean, I don't really care if they did. But it's it
- 31:10was funny that Si says in her confessional like Aaron's always mad at someone,
- 31:15you know, And then we get this whole explanation that Aaron thinks that Ci
- 31:21was rude to her about her cheese, about her charcoterie board and that then
- 31:26and Brynn Brinna starts to explain what she says Aaron was saying, like at
- 31:33her house in Brooklyn, at SI's house in Brooklyn and saying like oh,
- 31:37she was like, oh you eat cheese. That's weird. And so here
- 31:41we are with this whole. Now we've got a restaurant argument or you know,
- 31:47you know, a situation, and we have, as Jenna Lyons called
- 31:49it, cheesegate, which I can back both of those things, like out
- 31:53of the gates. I'm so here for a lighthearted restaurant argument and a cheese
- 31:59argument meant because we could talk about cheese for two hours, you know,
- 32:04and I don't think either one of us would get cheese. Oh yeah,
- 32:07okay, So Trader Joe's has a really good strawberry Stilton cheese right now that
- 32:14I it is so good anyway, and it's probably like off this like they
- 32:20probably already are done with it, so I don't know, but it's okay,
- 32:22well now like two weeks ago, but go for it if you can
- 32:27find it. Anyway back to he was right, I now want to talk
- 32:34about cheese for two hours. But yeah, but this argument happening and boiling,
- 32:40you know, like just similaring like a fondue pot of cheese in the
- 32:44background is poetic. But I love the way it resolved, like all right,
- 32:50yes, okay, like bring to me. That was a little bit
- 32:53of a okay, I got your number brand you can say something stirred up.
- 32:59Yeah. So I don't even know how we got to the end of
- 33:01it because Aaron was basically like I didn't say that. That is a lie.
- 33:06No, but also like housewives want to one, Brinn, you have
- 33:10been called to have this argument, Jenna. Don't stop the action. Yeah,
- 33:16good job continuing the action? Oh good, right, remember because Jenna's
- 33:22like, this is no stop. Yeah, I can't talk about cheese anymore.
- 33:27Well you've got a whole autumn. Yeah. So asurance like all right,
- 33:31then we need to go in the other room and continue this. I
- 33:35know the producers are like, thank you God, somebody gets it. Yeah,
- 33:39but I don't even know how they resolved it. Like remember they were
- 33:43on the bed, but Brynn never said like yeah, I lied, Like,
- 33:46but where did she come up with this story about like you don't eat
- 33:50cheese? That's weird. It's this whole story. I'm like, was she
- 33:52drunk when she said that? I am so confused. But I mean,
- 33:55I guess we can't hold onto this. I we can't hold onto it.
- 33:59We just have to move forward. But I am you will have to look
- 34:01back because this is going to be one of those things where Brin led about
- 34:06Cheesegate, Brin led about this bryn light. I mean, because according to
- 34:08Aaron, Brynn is a liar face. She's a liar face. And I'm
- 34:13starting to believe it. Like coming out of the gates and starting some sort
- 34:15of telephone rumor about Aaron, you know, saying that Cy was rude about
- 34:21her cheese is very strange. Yeah, I think this will be in a
- 34:25flashback sequence. I think the editors have put a little flag on this and
- 34:31it's going to go in a roll of threes sequence maybe end of this year,
- 34:37early next season where she's just bullshitted too much and says she doesn't and
- 34:42then we'll see the cheese thing in there. So I'll be like, oh
- 34:45my god, the cheese. We should Trader Joe still have that Stilton.
- 34:50Yeah, We'll be like we saw it all along. She came out of
- 34:53the gates as a liar and now she's doing it again. It's a pattern,
- 34:57you know, and not to And here's thing that I don't know if
- 35:00anybody watched the brook Shields documentary that just came out. No, but you
- 35:06have reminded me. I have been wanting to see that. I'm gonna write
- 35:08it. I'm gonna text myself. I'm texting myself. So working okay now?
- 35:13And I know Jenna wants to be a total trailblazer. But she and
- 35:17brook Shields have the same kitchen. Oh it was like driving me nuts because
- 35:23in a great way, but I because I loved brook Shield's kitchen in Manhattan,
- 35:29and then I saw Jenna's and I was like, oh my gosh,
- 35:30she's got Brookshield's kitchen. Did brook Shields film in Jenna's kitchen? Like?
- 35:37I was just sure, is it like an Ashley Furniture kitchen? Because did
- 35:39then I do the Ashley Furniture commercials? Well, I don't know, but
- 35:46Ashley Furniture listen, I'm happy to sponsor. I'd be a sponsor for you
- 35:52on this podcast, Ashley Furniture, And just so you know, I have
- 35:55been in some Ashley Furniture on camera commercial. Thank you very nice. Back
- 36:02in the dayag after strong, Wait, what did you what you had to
- 36:07say? What did you have to say for that? No? I just
- 36:09said sag after Strong because we're on strike right now. But like, yeah,
- 36:16in the commercial, I was like, sag after Strong. I only
- 36:22did one commercial, never air because I had to yell sag after Strong.
- 36:30Oh God, okay, wait, but what were you gonna say? We're
- 36:34gonna say? Oh, I like, I love a prefab kitchen. When
- 36:37I go to Ikea and they have the kitchen set up in there, I'm
- 36:42always like, wow, this is amazing. Like I don't it's so great.
- 36:45I am not a judger of kitchens. Okay, hold on, I
- 36:46don't think that Jenna Lyon's kitchen is prefab. Let's just well, watch the
- 36:52Brookshields documentary. They had the same architect or designer. Then it's the same
- 36:57kitchen. Okay, like and I and to the point that I wondered,
- 37:01if they know that the two of them must have the same designer, darlings,
- 37:07let's make them aware. I want to side by side of their two
- 37:10kitchens. That's that's what I want. Yeah, and it's a gorgeous kitchen.
- 37:15Gorgeous. Yeah, I'm not I'm just saying I noticed it so much.
- 37:21And it's towards the end of the Brookshields documentary. Oh, Okay,
- 37:24well that's good because the darlings will be looking and we need to fast forward
- 37:28through that if they're not going to watch. But we knew we do need
- 37:31to talk about genaal Lion's apartment because I loved it. I mean, it's
- 37:37it is like as Aaron said, it's a pad and the difference is is
- 37:40that, like, you know, she doesn't have any kids, which I
- 37:45think is a great point to like it being like a cool like space because
- 37:50it's it may not be user friendly for a person other than Gena Lions,
- 37:53which is what she was saying. And we got to know that she's a
- 37:55real estate agent, which I didn't realize, but saying like it's mostly all
- 38:00bedroom and all closet, which is kind of like every girl's dream, you
- 38:06know, if you've got a lot of clothes, Well, like the most
- 38:09beautiful layout of a closet, the most beautiful layout of a bed, Like
- 38:15it's like, it's not just like what my closet is, No, it's
- 38:20like you know what I mean. The chair fell through that what was the
- 38:25story on that chair? There was no frame to the to underneath the cushion.
- 38:30It was a it's a joke chair it's a prank chair. Gendalians has
- 38:34a prank chair in her closet. She's like, ah, I can't talk
- 38:39about chairs anymore. But I mean like she didn't break the chair. There
- 38:45was nothing. Yes, Oh did I lose you? Hold on, Okay,
- 38:52I'm recording again. We got disconnected by the ghost of Gena Lions here.
- 38:58It's probably Ramona. Oh, it's the it's the it's the jumpsuit.
- 39:02Jumpsuit disconnected us. Sorry jumpsuit. Okay, but that chair, yeah,
- 39:09anyway, it was it's prank chair. But I love the pink couch.
- 39:13And if you haven't seen, if you weren't able to really see her apartment,
- 39:17there is a tour on like probably BravoTV dot com. I've watched the
- 39:22tour. It's just gorgeous. I mean I haven't seen that. But I
- 39:24love the shoe closet. Three hundred and eighty shoes. I mean it's it's
- 39:29too many for I would never have that many because I'm not in fashion,
- 39:31but like, good for her love it. I love that little book nook
- 39:37that her chairs are for somebody who's so tall. I mean, you really
- 39:40got to get down. It's like a squattypot. I mean, you really
- 39:43got the way she sits in her chair, like in that book nook,
- 39:45She's all the way down, like crunched over. I'm like, I didn't
- 39:49even think about that. You're so right. She's chairs from sir. Oh
- 39:55yeah, yes, that's right. We went there that time and to sit
- 40:00really low. The chairs that sir are like two feet tall. They're like
- 40:05kid table chairs. Like at Bravocan they had this like little set where it
- 40:10was the Mini Watcher Happens Live set, and so it's like there you're sitting
- 40:15in tiny chairs, so you look oversized, you know what I mean,
- 40:20That's what it's like in Jenna's apartment. You're just an oversize You're an oversized
- 40:22person in tiny chairs except for that pink couch. But I love that.
- 40:29I am a sucker for a Chevron floor. My god, she's got the
- 40:32Chevron floor. So I mean I was like, oh, Mama, that's
- 40:37just like I know that I will be living my best life when I have
- 40:39Chevron floors, because it will happen and I love a Chevron floor. Obsessed
- 40:44with that. Her style is great. I did you like the boobs pillows?
- 40:50I mean I thought that was hilarious and just so on point for her.
- 40:54And there was just so much cheese, so much cheese, that it
- 40:59was almost I was like I was concerned for their their digestion. Oh my
- 41:05god, Yes, I don't understand. Again, I don't know how any
- 41:09of these people can drink that much and eat that much cheese. I don't
- 41:15get it. Well, I guess because they live in New York City.
- 41:16They're constantly walking, but it's like it is confusing when you see how thin
- 41:21they are and you're like when they're like, oh my god, cheese and
- 41:23candy, and it's like, what, how are you guys doing this?
- 41:29I don't get it. I know. Yeah, Like when Jenna's talking about
- 41:31like how much like how her diet consists of just like candy, coffee and
- 41:37cheese. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was like, God, bless
- 41:42you. I know, four pounds right right Jenna's Oh. We fail to
- 41:49mention that her apartment is in Soho and that is very cool because you I
- 41:52love seeing all the different areas of New York City of Soho. You'd Tribeca,
- 41:57Columbus Circle. Uba is in Columbus Circle. Need to see more of
- 42:00her apartment. That looked really cool. Mm hmm. So is her was
- 42:06her the ones with the oreoss Oh no, no, that was we I
- 42:12don't oh that was Jessel's all white and that all white. That's not my
- 42:19style. But like, god bless h I was. It just looked.
- 42:22I was just like, okay, well expensive, but it wasn't my style.
- 42:28I mean I was like, and you have kids and you're worried about
- 42:30like, don't have white you know, don't have like a table that you
- 42:35can see fingerprints because it's gonna be an uphill battle. And you know,
- 42:39I mean the fact that she was like, mom, get the finger like
- 42:43start wiping up. I'm like, girl, please, You're so lucky to
- 42:45have your mom here with you helping you. Meanwhile, you know, have
- 42:50a living housekeeper at this point, because you are you're working with an uphill
- 42:55battle here with all white and like chrome like the things that will absorb every
- 43:02grease mark. Right, Oh my god, Jessel has two Wait now,
- 43:09who has the twin babies. It's uh yeah, Jessel. Yeah, because
- 43:15they go down to Brooklyn and the twin babies are they're driving over the Brooklyn
- 43:19Bridge for the first time, so for the first time they're driving over the
- 43:22Brooklyn Bridge to get to Size house. And yet they're best friends? Are
- 43:30they okay? Or maybe they're not, but they were together. Yeah,
- 43:35britn Insie our best friend Brit and best friend. Jessel's just like the friend
- 43:39it sounds like, but also like in fairness, yes she should have been
- 43:45to Brooklyn because it sounds like Size been in that brownstone for a long time.
- 43:50But as we know from cast Pass, if you don't live in Brooklyn,
- 43:55you you're not going to Brooklyn. That's right. Well, I also
- 44:00I was like, this Brooklyn Bridge scene is so reminiscent. We're always going
- 44:04to think about, Oh yeah, you're probably gonna mess up up with Jason
- 44:07too. You know, he's probably gonna leave you too, like we all
- 44:09are gonna have these flashbacks and oh my god, so oh I did love
- 44:16that. Jessel was talking to her husband, Pavet, and he was sitting
- 44:22at the table, that white table, and she's just like he had all
- 44:25of his like work stuff set up. He just got in his computer,
- 44:29like his coffee, his phone, like he was all set up nicely at
- 44:31the at the dining room table. And then she comes over and is all,
- 44:37are you planning on doing this, like, here are you? This
- 44:43is this what we're doing? He's like, I got my gout coffee in
- 44:46my plant and she's like, is there somewhere else you can move? This
- 44:52is I mean, it's definitely a page right out of my I mean I
- 44:57sort of say out of my playbook because it was very bitch wife wife.
- 45:02I loved it. I was like, are you gonna be doing this?
- 45:06It's like, I'm just living my life. I live here, like I'm
- 45:08working. She's going to We're gonna definitely see some cracks in that. They
- 45:17all we are best friends, and I'm like, well I wouldn't talk to
- 45:22my best friend that way. But we'll see. Hey, we'll see,
- 45:27we'll see. She moved from London at twenty two to do fashion and I
- 45:31was like, where's your accent? And then I heard it in the confessional
- 45:35but not really walking around her house. Yeah you know he her mom has
- 45:40Yeah, mom's got it okay. And then we got Aaron and Tribecca with
- 45:47her husband and her her husband Abe and her big family, Like there is
- 45:52really I love this. This was really an interesting and aspirational story just to
- 45:58see how close her family is and she was born, they were all born
- 46:01and raised in New York City, and that they have three kids basically,
- 46:07and they love having sex. They're just yeah, they're great together apparently,
- 46:10and I love that. In her confessional, Aerin was like, the key
- 46:14to parenting is finding ways so that your kids will leave you alone. It's
- 46:16like, that's amazing. Yeah, that's how I do it. They just
- 46:22leave me. They just leave you alone. Give them, give them a
- 46:25Luan jumpsuit and call it a day. Again, I do not have children,
- 46:32Darling children, Si? Do SI have kids? Because I know her
- 46:38husband David is retired. Okay, wait, remember she has twins, she
- 46:43has two kids. Okay. We definitely saw her daughter, who was super
- 46:45cute, trying to unload the dishwasher on camera and asking where the dishes go
- 46:51and she's like, do you live here? Oh? I don't remember that?
- 46:53Okay, I see. This is where I get a little lost in
- 46:55the weeds when I'm looking at my notes. You know, they don't remember.
- 46:59They didn't. They didn't identify cut scenes in on my when I was
- 47:04watching Peacock. Oh so maybe that was a cut scene. I don't know.
- 47:07They usually identify cut scenes, but they didn't in this, Okay,
- 47:10Well, they probably introduced her. I would imagine it's very important for the
- 47:14first episode to know VAM kids, and so they probably I just probably glossed
- 47:17right over it. Uba is single, yes, because she's not. She's
- 47:23the only one who's single. Brin Oh shit, Brinn. Duh. So
- 47:29Brin and Uba are single and the rest are married with kids young raides very
- 47:35interesting. If that's a really good I like that. I like that,
- 47:39Yeah, I really. Brinn's a troublemaker, but like, I'm so drawn
- 47:45to her. She's so like legit bubbly and like fun, I like pase,
- 47:52and she's cute, and that hair is like, I mean, I
- 47:57would just kill I would kill for her hair. It's unbelieve Yeah, it's
- 48:01like a perfect written a wig. That's maybe why I that's why. Yeah.
- 48:09So when they were at the party they have Jenna has a black,
- 48:15golden, metallic or khaki party. We did hear a little bit about Jenna's
- 48:20story about how she started at Jay Crew in nineteen ninety and then ended in
- 48:23twenty seventeen as the president and an executive creative director, which is started as
- 48:29like an assistant assistant assistant working in like the Hallway love. Yeah, I
- 48:36love it. So that is impressive, very impressive. And to see like
- 48:43her journey and now that she and she also has a child, she's like,
- 48:45I just feel like spending time with my kid is more important. So
- 48:49she's not like, oh, she's got a lash line eyelash line, right,
- 48:53yeah, yeah, because her tagline is something like my lashes are fake,
- 48:58but something something my glasses are real. But she has a son.
- 49:05His name is Beckett and he's fifteen, and that cute picture of him with
- 49:08a little kitty and he's got like the pearl necklace and the gold necklace and
- 49:15he looks adorable. And I was just like looking up because I didn't know
- 49:21what her story was. She was married to artist Vincent Masseau from two thousand
- 49:25and two to twenty eleven, and together they have a son, Beckett Lyons
- 49:30Maseau, who was born October third, two thousand and six. And it
- 49:35says and during the midst of her divorce from him in twenty eleven, she
- 49:42was outed by the New York Post. So I'm sure we'll get into that
- 49:45story. Shame on that, yeah, remember they also I think it was
- 49:51the New York Posts outed Anderson Cooper and Jodie Foster around that time. Also,
- 49:55like but Perez Hilton was also outing people back there, that's right,
- 50:00or was yeah, yeah, So I'm sure we'll hear more about that.
- 50:05I'm I'm really intrigued to hear her tell her story about that. That'll be
- 50:09interesting. But this this whole khaki gold black and then having to like fall
- 50:15in line with her, you know, dress code is hilarious because they don't
- 50:22really they're kind of fighting it a little bit and they kind of fall back
- 50:27on the black. But like, I love the UBA's like khaki, Like
- 50:30you don't wear khaki unless you're in the Safari. Like okay, So so
- 50:32she wears some animal print, which I loved. But I love a theme
- 50:37party. I thought it was great, and I mean, I love the
- 50:38fashion they all showed up. I do too, and I I read I
- 50:44when she said it, I wasn't thinking khaki pants. I really thought of
- 50:49it as the color, so I was I was surprised that they all were
- 50:52thinking of it as like like that khaki fabric, like a tan pants or
- 50:58something. I know. I'm like, it's it's not like we're going to
- 51:00be working at Target and have to have khaki you know, khaki khakis and
- 51:06a red you know button up. It's like, you know, you can
- 51:09do something with it. Yeah. So I mean, ultimately Cy apologize to
- 51:15Aaron for bailing on the catch dinner and they kind of push that away.
- 51:21Then they play a game because Jenna does not like small talk, and so
- 51:25she's got, you know, all these cards and they're talking to me.
- 51:28It's it's this whole thing of like when they start talking about sex and it's
- 51:31kind of forced. I'm like, okay, we get it, like we
- 51:34agree. If you of annoying, I'm just like yes. And it's that's
- 51:39when they felt not like Ramona, but it just felt like like old og
- 51:45Housewives. Yes, thank you. Yeah, like they don't need to shoehorn
- 51:50that in there, right, And I didn't know. I mean, it
- 51:54feels like maybe Jenna legit thought it was good. I can see like the
- 51:59producers being like, that's a good idea, let's do it because it is
- 52:02an icebreaker. But I was bored. I was bored too. I mean
- 52:08I did like Jenna's interview, her confessional when she was like, you know,
- 52:15being with a man, it's like you don't know both of you are
- 52:17gonna like and uh, you know, happily. But being with a woman,
- 52:22you're just like both you know, going in, you're gonna do what
- 52:25it takes to get the job done. And I was like, that is
- 52:28so funny. It just goes to show women are like they're they're gonna work,
- 52:32They're gonna work for it, They're gonna work to make it go.
- 52:36Any same sex relationship would probably be like that because you know the equipment,
- 52:40so you know exactly what you're doing. So I feel like, I it
- 52:46probably game men would be the same. So good Nah, perhaps you're right,
- 52:51yeah, good on them. But I did think that that was interesting
- 52:53to have her in the confessional just being like pretty, that's more of an
- 52:57organic moment to me than to play a game like you know, and I
- 53:00just thought that was like so boring. It's just boring. It's boring,
- 53:04Okay, I said it. Now when Aaron and Brynn make up, and
- 53:09Aaron says to Brn, I felt like you decided who you were going to
- 53:13align yourself with when and then you got weird with me. That was definitely
- 53:17a fourth wall thing, and that's definitely an Housewives play. But to say
- 53:22a line felt very survivor. I was like, oh, this is like
- 53:28going beyond for this. It was just intert I agree that was the language,
- 53:34yes, aligning, but it's Joan never says that on there, but
- 53:38that's what they do, like when a new housewife comes on, and like,
- 53:44for example, when Danielle and Rachel came on to Jersey, it's like
- 53:52Rachel wanted to align herself with Margaret and that team, so she immediately kind
- 53:57of threw Danielle under the bus for something because she wanted to align with them,
- 54:01and Danielle wanted to align herself with Teresa on that side, so she
- 54:07was not willing to like stand up for herself in the confessional that they completely
- 54:10set her up, you know. Like so it's one of those things where
- 54:13I do feel like housewives who are new or when they're just starting their foray
- 54:19into the group, they kind of pick and choose teams, you know,
- 54:22they do. But I also think it's an expansion of like the culture of
- 54:27being a socialite, because that's also like kind of where Housewives originated. So
- 54:35it's not that far of a reach for these people to have alignments that make
- 54:40no sense to anyone else. And like operating and like trying to like get
- 54:46the right pecking order in because remember at the beginning, I think Jill Zarin
- 54:53kind of was the top socialite, right, Yes, She's really the one
- 54:59who brought up everybody together. I mean, for the most part, she
- 55:01was the center apple in the sense that she is the one who reached out
- 55:06to Luan, she knew Ramona, she brought Bethany in. I know,
- 55:12I think maybe she knew Sonya. I'm not sure, but but she really
- 55:15was the one that knew everybody. Yeah, So like maybe in New York
- 55:22City socialite back whenever that was Jill's erin was either a kingpin or maybe maybe
- 55:30her power was bringing these people together and then she who knows, But like
- 55:34clearly it's not that far of a stretch or that hard for these women to
- 55:39like figure out the climbing structure in a new group and then try to rise
- 55:45to the top, right right, Yep. And I can understand because it's
- 55:51like Aaron doesn't seem like somebody who's going to be that intense in terms of
- 55:57like her charisma, So I think she can be a little bit, maybe
- 56:00she'll be more of a sleeper, but still a strong character, you know
- 56:04what I mean, Whereas I can see why maybe Brynn is like, oh,
- 56:07I think Jessel's got it more in her or I think size got it
- 56:10more in her. So broad strokes, because really all that happened was they
- 56:16came out of the closet and so to speak, and they had some of
- 56:21Jenna's clothes on, and of course they hugged with the sequence in the lace
- 56:22and we know that those don't mix. Boy, that was that was a
- 56:25rough moment. That was rough. Jenna kept it pretty together, I mean
- 56:30like I had it like That's where I was like, man, she's so
- 56:34cool. She really won me over with that really won me over. So
- 56:40what are your thoughts like in terms of do you have a favorite? Do
- 56:45you? Is it too soon to say Jenna? I mean from the jump
- 56:49when they announced her casting, I was like, yes, But but the
- 56:54the person that's coming up from behind and watching back Jenna for me is Brent.
- 57:00Brent, Yeah, yeah, okay, all right, gosh, Emily,
