- 2:03SPEAKER_00: I'm about halfway through and I'm loving it.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna recommend it to both of my adult daughters.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: It's a very important message.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: And I'm super excited you're here today because I know you have a special message for moms that will be a blessing.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: So please jump right in.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Well, thank you so much for um allowing me to share just a little bit today.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: You know, as a mom of four kids, I can say I have learned that mothering is nothing like what I expected it to be.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Um and I have had many lessons to learn along the way.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: But you know, one of the most important things that I have learned, something I didn't realize that I needed to learn um until you know several years ago, was recognizing my own worth in Christ.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: You know, I grew up a Christian, I grew up in a Christian home.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Um I knew uh that I was a child of God, I was saved at the age of five.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: You know, I always thought I was secure in who I was.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: And then, you know, you get a little older and relationships happen and life happens, and I became a mother, and so many things began to change for me without me really ever realizing.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: And slowly I began to believe um the message of everyone else around me and how that affected my worth rather than focusing on what my creator says about me.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: And if I had said that out loud, you know, many years ago, it would have been kind of a shock because it's, you know, like, no, I know what the Bible says.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: I'm a I'm a good Christian.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: I read the Bible, I know what God says about me.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: But there's a difference in knowing what God says about us and believing what God says about us.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: And I had found, I had found myself in a place where the voices of everyone else had become so much louder than my creator.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: And I began to really put on these masks, um, these filters to become what I thought everyone else expected me to be.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: And eventually what I expected me to be was based on what everyone else expected me to be.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: And you know, that is such an exhausting way to live.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: But really, what it came down to was I was so focused on everyone else's expectations because that was where I found my value.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: And that's not where we need to live.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: That is not where God intended us to thrive.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: And so the Lord took me on a path as I was writing my book, hashtag no filter.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: And he was really beginning to show me that I needed a change in vision.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: And he used Paul's prayer in the Ephesians, where Paul is praying that the eyes of their hearts would be enlightened.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: And I began to question, you know, Lord, what would it really look like to live with this heart-enlightened vision?
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: And I thought as I began this journey that he was going to show me, you know, great things about, you know, seeing scripture and seeing God working and seeing this bigger picture.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: And really, he turned it in on me.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: And he's he made me realize that in order to live with this heart-enlightened vision, I had to truly begin to see myself as he saw me.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: That's where it needed to begin, that I needed to be able to let go of everyone else's expectations and turn instead to what he was asking me to do, what he was calling me to do, the purpose that he had designed for me.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: And it was difficult at first to admit that my value had gotten so wrapped up in other people's opinions, to the point where I wouldn't even really know who I was until I walked into a room and saw who was there, then I would know the role that I played.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: And God just began to challenge that.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: And he began to walk me through scripture.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: I remember walking through several different passages, you know, starting in Gideon in the in the book of Judges and seeing how he calls Gideon out and he says, You valiant warrior, as Gideon is hiding in Hawaiian.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: He's like, Who me?
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, who, me?
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: I just imagined him doing this double take.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: And, you know, the Lord was really kind of doing the same thing for me in his grace and in his goodness, saying, you know, to me, hey, you valiant warrior, you know, let's change the perception you have of yourself.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Let's pull you out of this wilderness that you've found yourself trapped in based on um this lack of worth, because really that's what it was when I'm looking to all of these other people for that worth.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: And as God began to just enlighten my vision to allow me to see myself as he had intended me, as he had created me, those filters, those masks began to fall away.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: And it was so freeing.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: And I found myself able to do things that he was calling me to that I had never anticipated.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: I had never even thought possible.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: You know, I run a nonprofit here in my home state of New Mexico that is focused on advocating for biblical values in policy.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: And it is something so far off the path that I had ever seen for myself.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: But yet it is something that I believe God empowered me to do because he finally helped me to see whatever he calls me to, he will equip me to do.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: And it was the same thing with being a mom.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: I began to see that as I recognized my own value, how much that changed how I recognized my kids' value.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: Of course, my kids had value.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: I wanted them to know they had value, but it was so different to begin to step into this purpose and this calling that he placed on my own life to then see how that affected my kids.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Because I think as moms, it's so easy to get wrapped up in our kids' worlds and we begin to lose sight of maybe our specific purpose.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: But God has called you, mom, to a specific purpose.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: And when you live out that purpose and you step up and say, Okay, Lord, I'm willing to be obedient, what's that teaching your kids?
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: How are your kids now able to begin to recognize their own value in who God made them to be?
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: And now they will have the courage to step up and to step out in faith, to do what God has called them to do, all because we as moms are finally willing to see our own worth and to be willing to step out in obedience to the calling that God has placed on our lives.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Such an important message uh for moms and women, really.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: Um, like I say, I'm halfway through your book and I'm loving it.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: I see this really as a tool for healing and for revelation.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: And it's something that we all really, as moms, can benefit from learning to see ourselves through God's eyes.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: You know, I love this.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: And so I just thank you so much for being here.
