- 0:40Speaker 4: This is doctor Carson Henley.
- 0:41Speaker 5: I'm what is happening?
- 0:44Speaker 2: How?
- 0:45Speaker 5: How does it feel? This is? This is very high tech.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Feels kind of nice.
- 0:48Speaker 5: Right, it's so cool man physic in my headphones.
- 0:51Speaker 3: You can actually hear right, you've never heard the like
- 0:54Speaker 3: the lead end of the show before because we couldn't
- 0:56Speaker 3: go I didn't know.
- 0:57Speaker 5: There was one. This is not a lie. This is
- 1:02Speaker 5: brand new to me.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, doing a lot of us. I mean we're
- 1:04Speaker 3: starting to get a little used to it now, but
- 1:07Speaker 3: it's absolutely true. And anybody that listens to our radio stations,
- 1:10Speaker 3: we've been talking about the new studios for months now,
- 1:12Speaker 3: or for weeks anyway, years, talking about getting into it, weeks,
- 1:16Speaker 3: talking about well, once we get into it, And now
- 1:18Speaker 3: for a couple of weeks we've we've been there and
- 1:20Speaker 3: in some configuration. Not all of our stations here are
- 1:23Speaker 3: done yet, but several of them are. Three of the
- 1:25Speaker 3: three of the seven are and plus a couple in
- 1:28Speaker 3: Celery Studios. And so what we're seeing is just good stuff.
- 1:31Speaker 3: It's good stuff, and this is so nice. And then
- 1:34Speaker 3: I was thinking, and this has happened to pretty much
- 1:36Speaker 3: everybody that I've done expert shows with. Is like Harvey
- 1:40Speaker 3: and Tom Payton. I've never seen them sit while I'm
- 1:42Speaker 3: talking to him. They're always on a stool. Yeah, you know,
- 1:44Speaker 3: they're always on a stool. And like, so it's nice,
- 1:46Speaker 3: Like I'm sitting across, sitting across from you now, and
- 1:49Speaker 3: I'm not personal in a school. I hate stools. Man
- 1:51Speaker 3: race console is not a big fan of the race console.
- 1:53Speaker 3: So I like sitting down. I'm a big fan of that.
- 1:55Speaker 3: And that's where we are now.
- 1:56Speaker 5: And my legs are cross facing you.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Just completely normal to dude's having a conversation.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Conversation. Yeah, that's all it is.
- 2:03Speaker 3: You can join in on the conversation if you want

- 2:23Speaker 3: information out to you as things go along there today.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 3: The nice thing about this, and if you go back
- 2:29Speaker 3: and listen to any of the shows, or at least
- 2:31Speaker 3: compare them to previous ones, is we've lost every single
- 2:37Speaker 3: every bit of audio artifact is out of the studio anyway.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Now.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Of course, AM radio, if you're listening to AM, will
- 2:43Speaker 3: have some some interference, and our FM signals are pretty pristine,
- 2:47Speaker 3: and that's what I usually listen to around town. And
- 2:49Speaker 3: when you're listening to one of our talk shows. Now
- 2:50Speaker 3: on that signal, it sounds like the people are in
- 2:52Speaker 3: the car with you. There's just no audio drop at all.
- 2:55Speaker 3: And I can explain the whole thing. Basically, we cut
- 2:57Speaker 3: out dozens of sources of real audio and now we
- 3:01Speaker 3: have one pristine source for all of our audio and
- 3:02Speaker 3: we just basically go and get it from the pool
- 3:04Speaker 3: with whatever's one air.
- 3:06Speaker 4: And it's just so nice.
- 3:07Speaker 5: I have no idea what you're talking about, but it
- 3:09Speaker 5: sounds awesome.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just uh for somebody that in listening to
- 3:13Speaker 3: my own stations for years, you would hear a little
- 3:14Speaker 3: bit of audio drop a little bit of our studios weren't.
- 3:18Speaker 3: They were leaky as far as the audio insallation goes,
- 3:21Speaker 3: so you'd hear like little echoing or you know, things
- 3:23Speaker 3: like that you're not supposed to hear necessarily in a
- 3:25Speaker 3: professional environment. There's none of that anymore. These studios are
- 3:27Speaker 3: so tight. There's no there's no loss of audio at all.
- 3:30Speaker 2: No.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I mean, you could scream as loud as you wanted
- 3:32Speaker 3: to in here and there would be not even a
- 3:34Speaker 3: little bit of an echo.
- 3:35Speaker 4: It's nice.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Well, maybe we should try that, yeah, you know, or
- 3:40Speaker 5: they were not next to her might get upset, but
- 3:44Speaker 5: we have to tell them. My kid gets overly exuberant sometimes.
- 3:47Speaker 5: And when she gets overly exuberant, she'll just scream at
- 3:49Speaker 5: the top of it. And it's not that when she's
- 3:51Speaker 5: even necessarily mad.
- 3:52Speaker 3: She'll just be super happy or she's making a point
- 3:54Speaker 3: or something like that, but she'll do it at the
- 3:56Speaker 3: top of her voice. And if you happen to be
- 3:58Speaker 3: walking by outside with the windows open or some female,
- 4:00Speaker 3: what in the heck is happening in that house? So
- 4:03Speaker 3: we have to tell my kids sometimes and honey, you gotta,
- 4:05Speaker 3: you gotta, you gotta relax. And plus she's a night
- 4:07Speaker 3: outl so it'll be like ten thirty at night or something.
- 4:09Speaker 3: You're like, kid, you gotta cut that out. That's too loud.
- 4:12Speaker 3: So you know, we need some more sound paneling in
- 4:14Speaker 3: our house. It might help out.
- 4:15Speaker 5: Something that would help out for sure.
- 4:16Speaker 4: May not be bad.
- 4:17Speaker 3: But we're talking about dental hygiene this morning. You can
- 4:19Speaker 3: get in on the conversation. Three zero four three four
- 4:21Speaker 3: five fifty eight fifty eight three four five fifty fifty
- 4:23Speaker 3: So I was your holiday weekend always always a good
- 4:26Speaker 3: time to kick off the summer, not the not the
- 4:29Speaker 3: warmest temperatures, but it was pretty nice over the weekend.
- 4:31Speaker 5: For the most part, I had a wonderful time. I
- 4:33Speaker 5: went swim. While I didn't swim, I went to tool
- 4:36Speaker 5: two different pool parties for my kids, so that was exciting.
- 4:41Speaker 5: Other than that, just enjoyed a good Sunday service at
- 4:45Speaker 5: church and all the get yesterday's activities for Memorial Service.
- 4:50Speaker 5: What did you do this weekend? Dale? How was your weekend?
- 4:52Speaker 3: It was pretty good. A lot of work around the
- 4:55Speaker 3: house on Saturday and Sunday. Oh my kid, my kids homeschool.
- 5:01Speaker 3: She took her She took her first grade equivalency test
- 5:04Speaker 3: last week and we got our evaluation back. She passed that,
- 5:07Speaker 3: so we took her out for some celebration of her
- 5:09Speaker 3: like graduating first gradetrade and stuff like that. Oh yes,
- 5:12Speaker 3: there was definitely some cookie Monster ice cream from Basket
- 5:14Speaker 3: Robbins was involved in mandatory and just some driving around
- 5:17Speaker 3: and doing some things like that. And then yesterday, uh,
- 5:20Speaker 3: kind of a spur of the moment. We weren't going
- 5:21Speaker 3: to do.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Much, but.
- 5:23Speaker 3: The local Pigley Wiggly down where I live in kannall
- 5:26Speaker 3: Cidi was having a great deal on their butchery all
- 5:29Speaker 3: their their butcher stuff, and so I went and got
- 5:32Speaker 3: a bunch of New York Strip steaks and hadn't broke
- 5:34Speaker 3: out the grill yet this year, so I cleaned out
- 5:36Speaker 3: the grill, replaced some of the hardware that I needed
- 5:38Speaker 3: real mint.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Well, you know, we're neighbors, yeah, close to it, and
- 5:41Speaker 5: I didn't know he price melt it. You could let
- 5:44Speaker 5: me know it. Actually, that's all I'm gonna say. But
- 5:48Speaker 5: also I also forgot it was some my kids' birthdays
- 5:51Speaker 5: are in June, and because they're in June and summer,
- 5:54Speaker 5: we always have a party on in May. Oh nice.
- 5:57Speaker 5: We rented out too big and latable things from a
- 6:01Speaker 5: local party rental company in our backyard, and we had
- 6:05Speaker 5: like a billion kids out there playing. So that was exciting.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I think that has to be And then your kid
- 6:10Speaker 3: gets very popular over that too, because as you get
- 6:12Speaker 3: to go to the kids out with the bouncy stuff,
- 6:14Speaker 3: that's really good.
- 6:15Speaker 5: Oh yeah, these kids walking up into like there's bounce houses.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Great.
- 6:20Speaker 5: So instead of renting out a place, we rented out
- 6:22Speaker 5: we kind of brought the fun to our house and
- 6:24Speaker 5: saved us some money. And also we had, you know,
- 6:26Speaker 5: we could buy our own food and do all.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Sorts of a great idea. Our place isn't big enough.
- 6:31Speaker 3: My daughter one of the things that she really wants
- 6:33Speaker 3: to do this year, she wants to put on a
- 6:34Speaker 3: talent show for her birthday. And I think it would
- 6:37Speaker 3: be just absolutely hilarious. Like I think it would be
- 6:39Speaker 3: the most funny thing ever, and we really want to
- 6:41Speaker 3: do it. We might go up the coon skin run
- 6:42Speaker 3: out in the Amphitheater and do it up there or
- 6:44Speaker 3: something like that. I mean, it would be kind of
- 6:45Speaker 3: a big party then, but it might be fun.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 6:47Speaker 3: We haven't decided yet. But anyway, her teeth is doing well.
- 6:50Speaker 3: If we want to transition.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Over to where are we going to transition?
- 6:54Speaker 4: That's right, we've talked about it before.
- 6:56Speaker 3: But as far as youth teeth goes, she did have
- 6:59Speaker 3: a I don't know it's necessarily unique, but she has
- 7:01Speaker 3: the double rows of teeth. She had like the shark
- 7:03Speaker 3: teeth going on there, and she's lost her first teeth,
- 7:07Speaker 3: and she's got three of them, and she lost her
- 7:08Speaker 3: first tooth. She's got three of them that if she
- 7:11Speaker 3: would let me, I could just reach in there and
- 7:13Speaker 3: grab them and pluck him out. But she won't let
- 7:14Speaker 3: me do that. She has to. She has to work
- 7:16Speaker 3: on them on her own. The first one she worked
- 7:18Speaker 3: out just to prove me wrong, and I used a
- 7:20Speaker 3: little bugs Bunny psychology on her. I was like, honey,
- 7:23Speaker 3: that thing's never going to come out. You'll never be
- 7:25Speaker 3: able to get that tooth out. She's like, I can too.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I was like, you can't do it, honey, You're not
- 7:28Speaker 3: gonna be ilty. She's like, I can too. I'm like, honey,
- 7:30Speaker 3: Ruth is in the pudding. It's been ready to come
- 7:32Speaker 3: out for days and it's still not out. She's elmer
- 7:34Speaker 3: fudding the story. Yeah, exactly, which is very odd because
- 7:36Speaker 3: usually she's the one elmer fudding me. But in this case,
- 7:39Speaker 3: she went and head under a blanket and worked on
- 7:40Speaker 3: her tooth until she got it out and came and
- 7:42Speaker 3: presented it to him.
- 7:43Speaker 4: I got it, and I told you I proved you wrong.
- 7:45Speaker 5: I won. Yes, you did good job. Yes, did a
- 7:48Speaker 5: great job. And that also reminds me yesterday at one
- 7:52Speaker 5: of these pool parties, right, a young kid came up
- 7:55Speaker 5: to me, knowing that I'm a dentist, and said, I
- 7:57Speaker 5: think I chipped my tooth, and so I'm never off
- 8:00Speaker 5: the clock, right, I'm always being asked questions. I'm always
- 8:03Speaker 5: at events and they go, I think her daddy is
- 8:07Speaker 5: a dentist, go ask him. And so I'm always being
- 8:09Speaker 5: asked things, and uh, it's just one of those It
- 8:12Speaker 5: just comes with the territory. I have to always be on,
- 8:14Speaker 5: always have to be ready. I always have to pull
- 8:16Speaker 5: out these facts from the back of my head that
- 8:19Speaker 5: are from dental school, or from things I've read, or
- 8:21Speaker 5: from from current literature. I don't know. It's always fun
- 8:25Speaker 5: to pull that out and just kind of kind of
- 8:29Speaker 5: divulge my nerdom of knowledge when it comes to dentistry
- 8:32Speaker 5: on on these kids and people.
- 8:34Speaker 4: But honestly, that makes it very relatable.
- 8:36Speaker 3: I mean, whenever you carry around information like that and
- 8:38Speaker 3: you're able to translate it into kid friendly tidbits and
- 8:41Speaker 3: nuggets and things like that, I mean, that's a great
- 8:43Speaker 3: that's a that's just great outreach.
- 8:45Speaker 5: That's great.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I think so it's where that least.
- 8:49Speaker 5: It's a great it's a great outreach.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Yes, you're a great man. You do a great job.
- 8:55Speaker 3: We wanted to talk about. There are several things that
- 8:56Speaker 3: we can talk about this morning. You sent me some information,
- 8:59Speaker 3: but one of the things that that does get a
- 9:01Speaker 3: little confusing because it does differ from from office to
- 9:04Speaker 3: office depending on the dentist that you're going to. When
- 9:06Speaker 3: people get a little confused about the difference between like
- 9:09Speaker 3: types of sedation, if it's considered surgery, well I'm not
- 9:12Speaker 3: going to get I'm not gonna go completely under because
- 9:14Speaker 3: then I have to go to a to a to
- 9:16Speaker 3: a surgeon and then YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 9:18Speaker 4: It's not as maybe it used to.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Be a little bit more delentiated like that, but it's
- 9:22Speaker 3: not necessarily the case anymore.
- 9:24Speaker 5: It is very confusing when so sedation itself is a range,
- 9:29Speaker 5: and the license that you have as a dentist, as
- 9:32Speaker 5: a practicing dentist in West Virginia, is for you to
- 9:35Speaker 5: provide the a certain level of sedation. You're not licensed
- 9:40Speaker 5: to provide a certain drug necessarily. It's the whatever drug
- 9:43Speaker 5: will get you to that level of sedation. So I
- 9:46Speaker 5: have a moderate sedation license, so I can get people
- 9:49Speaker 5: moderately sedated pretty much twilight. Legally, we don't say, or
- 9:53Speaker 5: you know, we can't ethically say we put you to sleep,
- 9:56Speaker 5: but when patients say, well i'd be asleep, I mean
- 9:58Speaker 5: a lot of times patients are kind of snoring, but
- 10:02Speaker 5: they're still awake and alert, right, and so it's this
- 10:04Speaker 5: weird kind of you have to say, yes, you will
- 10:08Speaker 5: be put out, but you won't be put under. So
- 10:12Speaker 5: we have to be very careful with that language. But
- 10:14Speaker 5: modern sedation is practically the deepest sedation you can get
- 10:18Speaker 5: when it comes to general dentistry. And what we find
- 10:22Speaker 5: is that that's not being offered here in this area,
- 10:24Speaker 5: and there's only a handful of dentists in the state
- 10:27Speaker 5: that do offer that, and so doctor Stephen offers that
- 10:30Speaker 5: I offer it. We do two different types of delivery
- 10:32Speaker 5: systems based on our specific license, but we definitely do
- 10:37Speaker 5: offer the same level. We're both moder we can both
- 10:39Speaker 5: provide modern sedation. Now, if you don't need modern sedation,
- 10:43Speaker 5: if you just if you're a little nervous getting a cleaning,
- 10:45Speaker 5: if you're a little nervous trying to say I need
- 10:49Speaker 5: a filling, but I don't really want to be put under,
- 10:52Speaker 5: you know, I don't really think I need to go
- 10:53Speaker 5: through that whole process. We have light sedation options such
- 10:58Speaker 5: as nitris laughing gas. It's not just for the kids,
- 11:01Speaker 5: it's for the adults. Some adults every single time they
- 11:04Speaker 5: go I need that nitrous, I need that laughing gas.
- 11:07Speaker 5: I'm like, yes, sir, here we go.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Let's look it up.
- 11:10Speaker 5: And it's a very safe way to sedate patients. And
- 11:14Speaker 5: what's really cool is if there's ever I always tell patients,
- 11:17Speaker 5: if there's ever an emergency when it comes to nitrous,
- 11:19Speaker 5: we just take off the mask and they start breathing normally.
- 11:22Speaker 5: And so it's one of those really cool it's a
- 11:24Speaker 5: really cool way to say, like, if anything happens, we
- 11:27Speaker 5: just turn this off and you're breathing normally, and while
- 11:30Speaker 5: you're breathing nitrous, you're breathing more oxygen than we are,
- 11:33Speaker 5: and so you're gonna be you are breathing more oxygen
- 11:36Speaker 5: than we are. You just have a little bit of
- 11:37Speaker 5: stuff that makes you feel good. And then above that,
- 11:40Speaker 5: we can deliver a medication such as a benzodaes a pinie,
- 11:44Speaker 5: which is pased a little anti anxiety pill. We can
- 11:48Speaker 5: do that without nitrous or with nitrous, and that allows
- 11:51Speaker 5: patients to really feel even more relaxed. And then above
- 11:54Speaker 5: that is that modern sedation. That is what doctor Stephen
- 11:57Speaker 5: and I can provide. But almost every office with Groovedental
- 12:01Speaker 5: Group does have nitrous. I think we all do have nitrous.
- 12:05Speaker 5: We all can provide that little pill if you need to.
- 12:08Speaker 5: But above that, you need to come to doctor Stephen
- 12:11Speaker 5: or my office in Kano City to provide that. We
- 12:14Speaker 5: actually just had a call. I had a call from
- 12:16Speaker 5: a local dentist who knew that I was offering modern
- 12:20Speaker 5: sedation and I spoke to the mom of the patient.
- 12:26Speaker 5: So the front office desk called me and said, you
- 12:29Speaker 5: offer IV sedation, Craig, I said, yes, Maam, I do.
- 12:32Speaker 5: I was talking to to the front office and she said,
- 12:34Speaker 5: can you talk to this mother. I'm like, okay, sure,
- 12:36Speaker 5: And so I started talking to the mom and I'm like, yeah,
- 12:38Speaker 5: this is how we do it. And she goes, oh,
- 12:40Speaker 5: thank goodness, my son's very anxious. Can we come see
- 12:43Speaker 5: you next week? And so I'm going to see you
- 12:45Speaker 5: this week for consultation, see how things go. So, I
- 12:48Speaker 5: mean it's kind of neat that we can provide that
- 12:49Speaker 5: for other dental offices that you know, they want to
- 12:53Speaker 5: provide the best service. But sometimes if the patient's too
- 12:56Speaker 5: anxious and it can become dangerous. If they're too and
- 13:00Speaker 5: to fidgety, they need to have that sedation, so just
- 13:03Speaker 5: so that they can be provided the service that they need.
- 13:06Speaker 5: So that's kind of neat that word it's getting out.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I've really thought before I started doing a show with
- 13:13Speaker 3: young doctor Stephen that sedation options when you went to
- 13:17Speaker 3: a dentist was basically a if this then that type thing,
- 13:21Speaker 3: like if you're getting this procedure, you get this level
- 13:23Speaker 3: of sedation. They right, you know that that's it. You
- 13:25Speaker 3: know that you that as a patient, you didn't really
- 13:26Speaker 3: have an options like, yeah, you know, I'd like to
- 13:27Speaker 3: be a little bit more under for this one, or
- 13:29Speaker 3: a little less under or whatever it might be.
- 13:31Speaker 5: All the time a patient will say, so you're going
- 13:33Speaker 5: to take out the tooth, Yes, am I gonna be
- 13:35Speaker 5: awake for that. Yes you will be numb, you will
- 13:40Speaker 5: not feel what I'm doing. But if you need to
- 13:43Speaker 5: be sedated, we can discuss that. But a lot of
- 13:44Speaker 5: times they go, oh, never mind, I'm good. I just
- 13:46Speaker 5: thought I had to be put under. I didn't know
- 13:48Speaker 5: that I could just be awake and alert. I'm like,
- 13:51Speaker 5: yes you can, you just won't feel anything. But of
- 13:54Speaker 5: course we offer the ability to put you under and
- 13:57Speaker 5: then if you need more complex surgeries such as implant placements.
- 14:02Speaker 5: We do that as well when it comes to sedation
- 14:05Speaker 5: options with that. But even if you just need a
- 14:10Speaker 5: cleaning and you just you're so anxious you don't want
- 14:13Speaker 5: to come see a dentist and you need something to
- 14:16Speaker 5: calm you down, we have options for you.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that's great to know and to be an advocate
- 14:21Speaker 3: for yourself in any of these things if that's something
- 14:23Speaker 3: that you're a little nervous about when it comes to
- 14:25Speaker 3: any kind of dental procedure.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Procedure. I just threw something in the trash can, and
- 14:30Speaker 5: that was way. That was a lot lower I though
- 14:32Speaker 5: I was going to.
- 14:32Speaker 3: We finally got rid of all of the the echoe arms,
- 14:35Speaker 3: you know, so that we don't hear that sound anywhere
- 14:37Speaker 3: when you touch the mic stems. But yeah, thrown it
- 14:39Speaker 3: into the metal trash can. It might make a little
- 14:41Speaker 3: bit of noise. That's pretty good, it happens, that's okay.
- 14:46Speaker 3: If you would like more trash can noises, you can
- 14:47Speaker 3: give us a call this morning three zero four three
- 14:49Speaker 3: four five fifty eight fifty eight three zero four, three
- 14:51Speaker 3: four five fifty eight fifty eight. You can text over
- 14:53Speaker 3: questions that you have as well. If you'd like to
- 14:54Speaker 3: do that. Threes are four non three, five, five zeros
- 14:56Speaker 3: or eight. It's a text line. Threes are a four
- 14:58Speaker 3: non three five, five zeros or eight. And it's just
- 15:00Speaker 3: important for folks to know that there is different options
- 15:02Speaker 3: along those lines because people have different pain thresholds and
- 15:06Speaker 3: they know their bodies more than anything you know, so
- 15:09Speaker 3: they should be able to give the proper recommendation in
- 15:11Speaker 3: things along those lines when it comes to sedation or
- 15:14Speaker 3: what level sedation or whatever it might be.
- 15:16Speaker 5: For that. You know your body better than I will.
- 15:19Speaker 5: You know your mouth better than I will. So my
- 15:21Speaker 5: job is to investigate and give you the best recommendations.
- 15:24Speaker 5: But you know how you're going to react to things.
- 15:26Speaker 5: You know how you're going to handle certain situations, and
- 15:31Speaker 5: so we will walk through that. We'll give the options.
- 15:33Speaker 5: I've actually had to talk patients into sedation and out
- 15:36Speaker 5: of sedation both ways. Certain times that I've had a
- 15:40Speaker 5: patient say I don't really think I need it, and
- 15:42Speaker 5: I go, can we try nitrist please? You know I
- 15:45Speaker 5: think you need it. Right. I'm not saying it's up
- 15:48Speaker 5: to you one hundred percent, but I think that's what
- 15:50Speaker 5: we need to do. Or the opposite can happen where
- 15:52Speaker 5: the patient goes I have to have got to be
- 15:54Speaker 5: put to sleep, and I go this will I can
- 15:56Speaker 5: almost take out this tooth with my fingers enough to
- 16:00Speaker 5: trick it out, like literally, give me five seconds, I'll
- 16:02Speaker 5: take it out. And so it goes both ways. I
- 16:05Speaker 5: kind of can highly recommend things, but at the same
- 16:08Speaker 5: time giving that informed consent, so patients have every single
- 16:11Speaker 5: recommendation possible and they know what is best for them,
- 16:15Speaker 5: and then they end up choosing from there.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Not to get too far into the weeds of this
- 16:19Speaker 3: because I know that it gets somewhat complicated. You know, yeah,
- 16:23Speaker 3: but this has to do with insurance, and that's never
- 16:24Speaker 3: really all that fun when it comes to sedation and insurance.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Is that one of the ones? Can you is that
- 16:29Speaker 3: only under the dental insurance can that be blended into
- 16:32Speaker 3: your medical or how does that? Because I know sometimes
- 16:34Speaker 3: that's kind of complicated too.
- 16:35Speaker 5: That is a question I cannot fully answer. I mean
- 16:39Speaker 5: not that I not that I don't want I want
- 16:41Speaker 5: to answer.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I know, I know it's complicated or not, because I
- 16:45Speaker 3: know sometimes you can sort of you lean on medical
- 16:47Speaker 3: for certain like I went to a ID doctor a
- 16:49Speaker 3: couple of years ago, and I was surprised that when
- 16:51Speaker 3: I got my explanation of benefits, like all of my
- 16:54Speaker 3: odd benefits were taken up, but then there was like
- 16:56Speaker 3: medical benefits on top of that that was tapped into.
- 16:58Speaker 3: And I gotta you know, I mean, it was fine,
- 17:00Speaker 3: but I was just surprised that it's like, oh, I
- 17:02Speaker 3: use both of my insurance here that.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Was sometimes it bleeds into medical. Right. I had the
- 17:05Speaker 5: same thing. I had spot in my eye and we
- 17:07Speaker 5: were looking at it for a year and he said, oh,
- 17:09Speaker 5: this visit is covered, is covered under medical. I didn't know.
- 17:13Speaker 5: I just kind of went along with it. Sure, great.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Same thing with sedation. There are there are ways to
- 17:20Speaker 5: build medical and we're investigating that. There's a general dentist
- 17:24Speaker 5: that I that is that offers sedation another part of
- 17:27Speaker 5: the state, and I've kind of talked with him about
- 17:30Speaker 5: it and how he does things. So I'm trying to
- 17:32Speaker 5: figure out because I don't have any anyone in this
- 17:34Speaker 5: area that kind of does specifically what I do. So
- 17:38Speaker 5: it's hard to really understand what we can build and
- 17:41Speaker 5: how to build it because when it comes to medical insurance,
- 17:44Speaker 5: that's something that we rarely deal with and so that's
- 17:46Speaker 5: something that's a whole other can of worms and how
- 17:48Speaker 5: to dare you open up that can of wa Yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 5: I'm sorry. Definitely. When it comes to dental insurance, we
- 17:54Speaker 5: build that easily, and then if we can build medical,
- 17:57Speaker 5: we will as well.
- 17:58Speaker 3: We're going to take a break here in just a moment.
- 18:00Speaker 3: When we come back, we still have plenty of stuff
- 18:01Speaker 3: we're going to talk about. You can control the conversation.
- 18:03Speaker 3: You can give us a call three zero four three
- 18:04Speaker 3: four five fifty eight fifty eight, three four five fifty
- 18:06Speaker 3: eight fifty eight. You can text over questions three zero
- 18:08Speaker 3: four nine three five five zeros your eight. Three zero
- 18:10Speaker 3: four nine three five five zeros your eight. We also
- 18:12Speaker 3: want to do a little bit. We're going to talk
- 18:14Speaker 3: a little bit about what to do in an emergency
- 18:17Speaker 3: situation during a holiday or during the weekend, or maybe
- 18:19Speaker 3: you're you're traveling somewhere and you know, we're starting to
- 18:23Speaker 3: get into obviously, well, travel sports is nearly a year
- 18:26Speaker 3: long thing now, but school's out and it's getting warmer.
- 18:29Speaker 3: That means that travel sports we're going to pick up
- 18:30Speaker 3: even more. So that's more opportunity for loose teeth and
- 18:33Speaker 3: things along those lines. You know where are your mouth guard? Yeah,
- 18:36Speaker 3: it might take a bite out of out of a
- 18:38Speaker 3: barbecue that was supposed to have no bones in it
- 18:40Speaker 3: and there was a bone in there.
- 18:41Speaker 4: You did something your two thing. You might need some help.
- 18:43Speaker 3: We'll talk about some emergency procedures how to get your
- 18:46Speaker 3: buy until you can get a possible injury down to
- 18:50Speaker 3: your mouth resolved. We'll talk about that and more when
- 18:52Speaker 3: we come back. You're welcome to give us a call.

- 20:55Speaker 3: You're listening to as the expert of Uchs, the voice
- 20:58Speaker 3: of Charles and letting the music play out here. This
- 21:00Speaker 3: music has actually been the same, I mean maybe for
- 21:02Speaker 3: a decade, kidding, but you've never heard it before, right, No,
- 21:07Speaker 3: we never had the studio configuration where we could listen
- 21:09Speaker 3: to a live monitor or not. Not never, but in
- 21:12Speaker 3: the last when did we move over to that studio,
- 21:13Speaker 3: like maybe six or seven years ago? Right, I don't
- 21:16Speaker 3: right the whole time you've been here, So you've never
- 21:17Speaker 3: seen in the studio. Yeah, I think doctor Stephen maybe
- 21:19Speaker 3: was in the old studio before. But anyway, we we
- 21:22Speaker 3: can never hear the monitor. We had to go off
- 21:25Speaker 3: tomming so I could watch where the commercials were, and
- 21:27Speaker 3: I know radio, so I know the tomming. So we
- 21:29Speaker 3: always went off toiming before and now we can actually
- 21:32Speaker 3: wonder you would like start okay, yeah, it makes sense.
- 21:35Speaker 4: It was all in the blond.
- 21:37Speaker 5: Yeah, well, you like wouldn't start talking. For a second,
- 21:40Speaker 5: I'm like, why are we staring here awkwardly? What's happening?
- 21:43Speaker 5: And then it makes sense.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Now all in the blond just watching the numbers go by,
- 21:47Speaker 3: and I knew when to start talking and.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Stuff there, Steven, you're gonna be blown away.
- 21:50Speaker 4: And now we can just listen like normal radio.
- 21:53Speaker 5: It's nice.
- 21:53Speaker 3: You can just hear exactly what's going on on the
- 21:55Speaker 3: air and react to it appropriately.
- 21:57Speaker 5: It's not a bad thing.
- 21:59Speaker 4: It's not bad at all. You kind to be blown away,
- 22:01Speaker 4: and now we can just listen like normal radio. That's nice.
- 22:04Speaker 3: You just hear exactly what's going on on the air
- 22:06Speaker 3: and react to it appropriately.
- 22:07Speaker 4: It's not a bad thing. It's not bad at all.
- 22:10Speaker 3: You gets called this morning if you want to talk
- 22:11Speaker 3: about anything that we've been talking about, probably dental hygiene
- 22:15Speaker 3: would be great, but.
- 22:18Speaker 4: That we stop on.
- 22:19Speaker 3: You can give us a call of about three zero
- 22:20Speaker 3: four three four five fifty eight fifty eight three four
- 22:22Speaker 3: five fifty eight fifty eight.
- 22:23Speaker 5: You can text up for questions as well. Three zero
- 22:25Speaker 5: four non three five five.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Zero zero eighth And one of the things Doctor Stephen
- 22:29Speaker 3: has done this for years on occasion and one of
- 22:32Speaker 3: the shows that I always like to do a segment
- 22:34Speaker 3: of is just to talk about what happens if you
- 22:37Speaker 3: have a dental emergency when you're not you know, when
- 22:40Speaker 3: you're not just sitting at work and you're like, oh
- 22:41Speaker 3: my toothfoll out. I can just run down to the
- 22:42Speaker 3: dentist office, you know. I mean not that you can
- 22:44Speaker 3: necessarily do that, but I mean chances are you could
- 22:46Speaker 3: probably get close to that. But people are living and
- 22:49Speaker 3: moving and doing things. You might be on vacation and
- 22:51Speaker 3: you bite into something. All that tooth that's been giving
- 22:53Speaker 3: me problem for well, now it's really giving me trouble
- 22:55Speaker 3: where it comes out. Or I mentioned before the break,
- 22:58Speaker 3: you have a child in youth sport and you're playing
- 23:00Speaker 3: travel ball, maybe you're out of town and something happens
- 23:02Speaker 3: and that you got a problem with the tooth. What
- 23:04Speaker 3: are some of the things that folks can do to
- 23:06Speaker 3: kind of sort of manage situations like that if they
- 23:09Speaker 3: come up.
- 23:10Speaker 5: So, first off, let's manage the pain. If there's pain
- 23:14Speaker 5: going on, let's kind of go through what you need
- 23:17Speaker 5: to do. The number one thing I don't want people
- 23:19Speaker 5: to do is take any topical gel such as ambersol
- 23:24Speaker 5: or some type of tooth away pain. The jail that
- 23:30Speaker 5: you put in your mouth, don't do that right. That
- 23:32Speaker 5: is actually bens a cane and it can cause medical
- 23:35Speaker 5: issues if you use it long term. I don't really
- 23:37Speaker 5: want to get into that, but so I don't. I
- 23:39Speaker 5: don't like patients using that topical jelly. That that topical anesthetic.
- 23:45Speaker 5: It's good to actually use it in my office prior
- 23:49Speaker 5: to me injecting because it helps numb the gum just
- 23:51Speaker 5: a little bit. But it doesn't really numb the tooth
- 23:53Speaker 5: a lot. It's just numbs the gum. So don't use that.
- 23:56Speaker 5: What you really need to do for pain is take
- 23:59Speaker 5: two advil in one tileanol. That's four hundred milligrams of
- 24:03Speaker 5: a seat of ibuprofen, which is advil or motrin, same thing,
- 24:08Speaker 5: and five hundred milligrams of talentol, which is a ced
- 24:11Speaker 5: of menafin. I think now the tablets are only three
- 24:14Speaker 5: twenty five just because of there was a risk of
- 24:17Speaker 5: liver issues and so they decrease the I'm getting into
- 24:20Speaker 5: the weeds, you know, I always do. But just know
- 24:22Speaker 5: that to addvil one talent all that will stop the
- 24:24Speaker 5: pain and you can kind of go back and forth
- 24:26Speaker 5: every four hours or every two to four hours, you know,
- 24:28Speaker 5: take the two advil, then take the one talent all
- 24:30Speaker 5: and kind of go back and forth. If you need
- 24:32Speaker 5: more than that, obviously call your dentists and they can
- 24:35Speaker 5: prescribe something. If it's infected, we can give you an antibiotic.
- 24:39Speaker 5: But so many times if you're in pain, it's not
- 24:41Speaker 5: due to infection, it's due to inflammation, and so that
- 24:45Speaker 5: advil and thailanol is going to decrease that inflammation and
- 24:48Speaker 5: make you feel better. If you need more, we can
- 24:51Speaker 5: also prescribe something called a steroid, like a metrol dose pack.
- 24:54Speaker 5: Those things are like tonic water. They just make you
- 24:57Speaker 5: feel so good. I've had patients say, my knees, I've
- 25:00Speaker 5: not felt this good. Long term that's not good, but
- 25:03Speaker 5: short term definitely good to actually kind of ease the
- 25:06Speaker 5: pain till you can get into your dentist. So that's
- 25:09Speaker 5: when it comes to the pain. Let's say you have
- 25:11Speaker 5: an emergency where your crown pops off. What the heck
- 25:14Speaker 5: do you do? Well? Number one, don't just throw it away.
- 25:17Speaker 5: We might be able to place it on. But if
- 25:19Speaker 5: that crown is off and it's bothering you, and you
- 25:22Speaker 5: can maybe put it right back on. There's some temporary
- 25:27Speaker 5: crown sementation pace you can buy from CBS. Put that
- 25:31Speaker 5: follow the directions, put it right onto the crownd then
- 25:33Speaker 5: shove it down in there and then clean it up.
- 25:35Speaker 5: That generally can stay for a while. Or if you
- 25:37Speaker 5: don't have that, you can use denture adhesive that actually
- 25:40Speaker 5: works pretty well, but finally get into the dentist and
- 25:44Speaker 5: they will do it a permanent chop of submitting it in.
- 25:47Speaker 5: So those are the two big emergencies that I can
- 25:50Speaker 5: advise on. When it comes to fractured teeth, not much
- 25:53Speaker 5: I can do other than it's everybody's different. If it's
- 25:57Speaker 5: a chip that's not into the pulp or the nerve,
- 26:00Speaker 5: we can fix it without too many complications. But if
- 26:03Speaker 5: it's fractured into the root or things like that, chances
- 26:07Speaker 5: are you need to go see a dentist and they
- 26:08Speaker 5: need to maybe extract the tooth or give you other options.
- 26:11Speaker 5: So fortunately we can advise that by calling us and
- 26:16Speaker 5: we can talk to you and we walk you through
- 26:18Speaker 5: these emergencies. We do have a we have an emergency
- 26:22Speaker 5: phone line on the weekends and so it'll come to
- 26:25Speaker 5: our cell phones and I've used it before yes, I've
- 26:28Speaker 5: used it before. Yeah, so it is very nice. We
- 26:31Speaker 5: get patients from the public call and then we kind
- 26:34Speaker 5: of always give we do our best to give advice
- 26:37Speaker 5: and so or if we can, we'll see patients during
- 26:41Speaker 5: the weekend. So that's those two biggest things. What to
- 26:44Speaker 5: do if you're in pain and what to do if
- 26:45Speaker 5: your crown pops off. Other than that, there's not a
- 26:48Speaker 5: whole lot of things we can do.
- 26:50Speaker 3: I guess when when we're talking about like sports and
- 26:53Speaker 3: athletics and with mouthguards, man, I remember when I played
- 26:56Speaker 3: football when I was a kid. I can't I can't.
- 27:02Speaker 3: I can't forget the texture and the feeling of the mouthguards.
- 27:06Speaker 3: It was just one of those things, you know, I
- 27:07Speaker 3: wasn't that great. So a lot of times the only
- 27:09Speaker 3: thing you could do was like chewing your mouth guard.
- 27:11Speaker 3: You know, you would just like pop it up, it'd
- 27:13Speaker 3: be like sideways in your mouth, you'd tall on it
- 27:14Speaker 3: in the side. You know, you would just like throw that.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Yeah you basically just yeah, you ch all that thing down.
- 27:19Speaker 3: But is there such a thing as like superior mouthguards
- 27:22Speaker 3: or is a mouth guard and mouth guard? You know,
- 27:24Speaker 3: because you see some of these anymore like the standard
- 27:26Speaker 3: issue ones they gave us when we when I play
- 27:28Speaker 3: footballt capital or whatever, just clear little things. You strapped
- 27:30Speaker 3: them to your face mask and I guess they strap
- 27:33Speaker 3: was like five feet long exactly. Yeah, a lot of
- 27:35Speaker 3: times right exactly. But when you go now you can
- 27:37Speaker 3: see these, you see like an individual and it will
- 27:39Speaker 3: cost like thirty five or forty bucks or something.
- 27:41Speaker 5: You're like, is it really worth it or is it
- 27:43Speaker 5: just pretty? That's marketing, it's just pretty, just pretty. Yeah.
- 27:46Speaker 5: I would say the ideal way to do it is
- 27:48Speaker 5: go to your dentist and have them do a digital
- 27:50Speaker 5: steps an impression, and then they will make it the
- 27:54Speaker 5: form fit to your mouth. However, go to Walmart buy
- 27:58Speaker 5: something cheap, now I would I wouldn't necessarily go with
- 28:02Speaker 5: the cheapest just because it is the cheapest. Yeah you
- 28:05Speaker 5: too thin yea, yeah, yeah for sure. But generally speaking,
- 28:08Speaker 5: mouthguards are there choose to provide that shock of absorption.
- 28:13Speaker 5: They aren't very advanced and they don't need to be.
- 28:17Speaker 5: All you need to do is just increase the space
- 28:20Speaker 5: between your teeth with something that's spongy, and that will
- 28:22Speaker 5: solve the problem generally.
- 28:24Speaker 3: And it amazes me that and I saw this when
- 28:26Speaker 3: I was a kid too. And again I wasn't a
- 28:28Speaker 3: great player, but I've played enough to.
- 28:30Speaker 5: Join the club.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I was a b teamer my entire life. I was
- 28:35Speaker 3: not a great player that came to a school. That's
- 28:37Speaker 3: when Capital first, This was before you got here, but
- 28:40Speaker 3: Charleston High and Stonewall, two powerhouse football programs, combined into
- 28:44Speaker 3: Capital in nineteen eighty nine. That was my sophomore year,
- 28:47Speaker 3: was and that was when high school started back then,
- 28:49Speaker 3: was in sophomore year. So I was the first sophomore
- 28:52Speaker 3: class to start at Capital going all the way through.
- 28:55Speaker 3: And there were NFL players galore on that first incarnation
- 29:00Speaker 3: of that team. Pretty incredible. Uh spread of talent that
- 29:03Speaker 3: was on that team, and uh yeah, so I mean
- 29:06Speaker 3: I was it was there was a bunch of people.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Uh.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Coach Roger Jefferson was the coach. There's one of the
- 29:12Speaker 3: most winning coaches in high school football. Won the national
- 29:15Speaker 3: or the state championship our first year in existence, two
- 29:17Speaker 3: out of the first three, loss at the second year.
- 29:19Speaker 3: But yeah, I didn't. I saw the field in very
- 29:21Speaker 3: limited capacity. I played football, but I never understood I
- 29:25Speaker 3: played just enough to know I've had my teeth snapped
- 29:28Speaker 3: together enough on a hit to know that you really
- 29:30Speaker 3: want to wear those those mouthguards. And I never understood
- 29:33Speaker 3: the kids that pushed back when it summers, Like is
- 29:35Speaker 3: it an image thing? I mean, because certainly having cracked
- 29:38Speaker 3: or no teeth later in life is not going to
- 29:40Speaker 3: be great. And the chances you make an NFL money
- 29:43Speaker 3: to get your your like your grill put together or
- 29:45Speaker 3: something is probably not very good.
- 29:47Speaker 5: No, that's probably not going to happen. And speaking of
- 29:50Speaker 5: playing college, I didn't play couch. Playing high school football
- 29:53Speaker 5: in Texas, same thing. Oh, Like, they were NFL players
- 29:57Speaker 5: all over the place. It seemed like I remember watching
- 30:00Speaker 5: film this one time and this linebacker. So I don't
- 30:03Speaker 5: know if you've heard of south Lake, Carol, they're like
- 30:05Speaker 5: a big barrels. They were in my district. I went
- 30:07Speaker 5: on Church End sometimes. Yeah, I went to church in
- 30:09Speaker 5: South Lake, so like that's kind of where I grew
- 30:10Speaker 5: up in that area. And there was this one linebacker
- 30:13Speaker 5: I think he went to the NFL, but he tackled
- 30:15Speaker 5: a ligneman that was twice his size and just smuf.
- 30:19Speaker 5: I don't know, I've never seen someone hit someone so
- 30:22Speaker 5: hard in real life and be like I'm glad I'm
- 30:25Speaker 5: on the sideline right now like that. It was welcome
- 30:28Speaker 5: to the NFL moment, but welcome to high school football
- 30:30Speaker 5: in Texas moment right And it wasn't me. I was
- 30:32Speaker 5: just watching someone get like destroyed. So I get it.
- 30:35Speaker 5: That's not for me. But definitely you need to protect
- 30:37Speaker 5: your teeth putting on Simply getting those boiled down mouthguards
- 30:42Speaker 5: is all you need. We don't need to do something
- 30:44Speaker 5: super expensive. But the best thing for you, period is
- 30:48Speaker 5: go to your Dennis, have them do that impression, do
- 30:51Speaker 5: a suckdown model themselves with very advanced materials. I mean,
- 30:55Speaker 5: you do get what you pay for, but at what
- 30:57Speaker 5: point is it worth it?
- 30:59Speaker 4: Dimsion turns at some point there for sure. That makes
- 31:01Speaker 4: a lot of sense.
- 31:02Speaker 3: A couple of minutes left in the program with doctor
- 31:04Speaker 3: Carson Henley from the Greed Dental Group. You can get
- 31:06Speaker 3: on air with us this morning, just about five minutes left.
- 31:08Speaker 3: You give us a call three zero four three four
- 31:10Speaker 3: five fifty eight fifty eight. Three zero four three four
- 31:12Speaker 3: five fifty eight fifty eight. If you'd like to give
- 31:13Speaker 3: us a call, you're more than welcome to do that
- 31:15Speaker 3: and get a question into doctor doctor Henley, a couple questions.
- 31:19Speaker 3: I thought I would ask you selfishly, since I have
- 31:22Speaker 3: since I have a since I have a child, I
- 31:24Speaker 3: thought I could ask you some some child related dental
- 31:27Speaker 3: hygiene questions. So I've took you and Doctor stephen gave
- 31:32Speaker 3: me some advice a couple of years ago to get
- 31:33Speaker 3: my daughter over her adversion to brushing her teeth, and
- 31:37Speaker 3: then most of those things worked. She's she's pretty good
- 31:39Speaker 3: with brushing her teeth. Now she'll I guess all kids
- 31:42Speaker 3: will push back sometimes when they really don't want to
- 31:44Speaker 3: or whatever, but for the most part, she brushes her teeth.
- 31:46Speaker 3: We make it a game. Here's here's the clever game
- 31:50Speaker 3: that parents find themselves in. So she wants to quote
- 31:52Speaker 3: unquote race me. Right, as a parent, I understand that
- 31:56Speaker 3: racing brushing your teeth is not a great idea because
- 31:59Speaker 3: you want to go as slow as possible. Right, So
- 32:02Speaker 3: what I have to do is I have to brush
- 32:04Speaker 3: my teeth for as long as I want her to
- 32:05Speaker 3: brush my teeth, and then make it very very obvious
- 32:09Speaker 3: when I'm getting ready to wash out my mouth and
- 32:11Speaker 3: be done and everything, and make overly deliberate gestures so
- 32:14Speaker 3: she can, like swoop in and get done right before
- 32:18Speaker 3: me so she can beat me to the quote unquote race.
- 32:20Speaker 3: So for like years, I've been throwing this race that
- 32:23Speaker 3: I've been trying to make go as long as I
- 32:25Speaker 3: possibly can so she'll spend enough time brushing her teeth.
- 32:27Speaker 3: She does fine, she just needs the context of like
- 32:30Speaker 3: this race that her and Daddy do at night times,
- 32:33Speaker 3: specifically around her.
- 32:34Speaker 5: You're the turtle and you're trying to trick her into
- 32:36Speaker 5: being a turtle exactly.
- 32:37Speaker 3: And there's going to be a time, because the kid's clever,
- 32:40Speaker 3: there's gonna be a time when she's going to figure
- 32:42Speaker 3: it all out. Or maybe she already has and she
- 32:43Speaker 3: just plays along for me. Heck, I have no idea anyway.
- 32:46Speaker 4: We've gotten her.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Along pretty well, I think for the most part. However,
- 32:51Speaker 3: as her baby teeth are starting to they'll be going
- 32:54Speaker 3: pretty soon. She's lost her first and she's starting to
- 32:56Speaker 3: lose more. But I do notice a like a patina
- 32:59Speaker 3: or a ring of discoloration on like the bottom parts
- 33:03Speaker 3: of her teeth from where she either wasn't great brushing
- 33:08Speaker 3: for a while or her technique and stuff is good now,
- 33:10Speaker 3: but that gap there may have caused some problems one
- 33:13Speaker 3: teeth that are going out. If we have good practices, now,
- 33:18Speaker 3: what is my level on what we should do as
- 33:20Speaker 3: far as that goes?
- 33:21Speaker 4: Am I? Okay?
- 33:22Speaker 3: As long as going forward we have good practices, am I?
- 33:24Speaker 3: And am I in some sort of peril because some
- 33:27Speaker 3: of the teeth that are in there now are discolored.
- 33:29Speaker 4: What is my problem there?
- 33:31Speaker 5: If they're going to fall out within a year? I
- 33:33Speaker 5: tell patients all the time, or parents have patients if
- 33:35Speaker 5: if a tooth has a cavity, if the tooth is discolored,
- 33:37Speaker 5: if the tooth has stained, whatever, and it's going to
- 33:40Speaker 5: fall out within a year, I'm okay leaving it, and
- 33:43Speaker 5: you probably can be as well. If a tooth is
- 33:46Speaker 5: going to fall out, there's really no point in investing
- 33:49Speaker 5: in that tooth. And that's my take. Now, if that
- 33:52Speaker 5: tooth is bothering you, instead of fixing it or filling it,
- 33:56Speaker 5: maybe extracted early. I think that's a good option as well.
- 33:59Speaker 5: But I think you're doing a great job. You're caring
- 34:01Speaker 5: for your daughter and she's trying to beat you, although
- 34:05Speaker 5: she doesn't realize that she's losing every time. She's winning
- 34:10Speaker 5: by losing, you know, it's kind of funn.
- 34:12Speaker 3: The worst thing that happened to me one night, or
- 34:14Speaker 3: not the worst thing ever, but one night last week,
- 34:16Speaker 3: I don't know, I was distracted or whatever. We were
- 34:18Speaker 3: brushing my teeth, and I forgot that we were you know,
- 34:20Speaker 3: that I was supposed to go through this thing I've
- 34:22Speaker 3: been doing for years. Just for whatever reason, this particular
- 34:24Speaker 3: slipped my mind, and so I just wrapped up, washed
- 34:27Speaker 3: my mouth out, got ready, and she like just looked
- 34:29Speaker 3: at me with her toothbrush still in her mouth, looking
- 34:31Speaker 3: at me with her eyes really big. And my kid
- 34:34Speaker 3: doesn't like will till she gets mad. So she's like, Okay,
- 34:38Speaker 3: that's it. We're never racing again.
- 34:41Speaker 5: It just it. We're done.
- 34:43Speaker 3: Yeah, she was so mad at me. I rectified it.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Did she hang out her toothbrush?
- 34:49Speaker 5: Is that what she did?
- 34:50Speaker 3: Well, what she did is she very emphatically it's a
- 34:53Speaker 3: bluey you know, electric toothbrush, And what she very emphatically
- 34:57Speaker 3: did is she ran it under the water to rinse
- 34:59Speaker 3: it off, look at me the whole time, and then
- 35:01Speaker 3: just put it on the sink, staring me dead, like
- 35:05Speaker 3: that's it.
- 35:05Speaker 4: I'm so disappointed in you.
- 35:06Speaker 5: We're done with this.
- 35:08Speaker 3: She's so outrageous. Not hanging up your cleats, hanging up
- 35:11Speaker 3: your toothpaste. Yeah, she's outrageous with stuff like that.
- 35:13Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 35:14Speaker 3: But so with kids, there is a little bit of
- 35:18Speaker 3: I guess that make it a game. Yeah, there's some kids,
- 35:20Speaker 3: I guess it will just take to it and then
- 35:21Speaker 3: they'll have perfect little pearls their entire at kiddom. And
- 35:24Speaker 3: there's other kids like my daughter who got there eventually,
- 35:27Speaker 3: but she was kind of a wild child to get
- 35:29Speaker 3: her to the point where she would do her teeth
- 35:30Speaker 3: once or twice a day, and she does a pretty
- 35:32Speaker 3: decent job with it now. But I did have to
- 35:33Speaker 3: gamify it. I had to turn it into something other
- 35:35Speaker 3: than just brushing your teeth. It had to be something else.
- 35:37Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I think that's smart, just trying to come
- 35:40Speaker 5: up with any number of games. When it comes to
- 35:42Speaker 5: the two minutes we want, we always hand out these
- 35:45Speaker 5: sand dial things that are time to two minutes. I
- 35:48Speaker 5: remember getting those as a child, and I remember how
- 35:51Speaker 5: slow that sand was going through the sand dial thing, right, Like,
- 35:56Speaker 5: two minutes is a long time when you're trying to
- 35:58Speaker 5: do one thing, especially you're keen. You're just brushing as
- 36:01Speaker 5: hard as you can and trying to get going.
- 36:02Speaker 3: So she hums, right, of the valkyries, the what the
- 36:06Speaker 3: ride of the valkyris, you know, the the the symphonic movement.
- 36:11Speaker 3: I'm sure like like sort of like the like the
- 36:15Speaker 3: like the whole thing like going, and she she hums
- 36:18Speaker 3: like all of that stuff while she That's how she
- 36:20Speaker 3: toms out her teeth brushing when she gets to when
- 36:22Speaker 3: she gets to the second crescendo, she knows that she's
- 36:24Speaker 3: pretty much that's about the end of it.
- 36:26Speaker 5: I should teach my kids cheerits of fire, right.
- 36:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:29Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a little slower, Yeah, yeah, I see that
- 36:31Speaker 5: work out. All right.
