- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're picking up where we
- 0:07Speaker 1: left off with a Doug Band interview with Congress Mister Emmer.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And you mentioned that Miss Maxwell seemed to surround herself
- 0:16Speaker 1: with important people. Are there certain individuals that you can
- 0:19Speaker 1: think of of? Note? Answer, I don't remember anybody specifically.
- 0:25Speaker 1: That was just my you're asking me to recall. That's
- 0:28Speaker 1: just my general recollection. Question When was the last time
- 0:31Speaker 1: you had any communication whatsoever with Miss Maxwell? Answer? You know,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I don't recall specifically. It was certainly over a decade ago,
- 0:39Speaker 1: probably closer to fifteen years ago. Questions, so around the
- 0:43Speaker 1: twenty tens, two thousands, early twenty ten, you would say, Answer, well,
- 0:47Speaker 1: in twenty eleven, I issued that I thought was an
- 0:51Speaker 1: effective order of removing her from all lits. So it
- 0:54Speaker 1: was potentially then or thereafter. I don't recall specifically. Question
- 0:59Speaker 1: And is that when your relationship with Miss Maxwell officially
- 1:02Speaker 1: ended in twenty eleven? Answer again, I don't remember. It's
- 1:06Speaker 1: possible that I stayed in touch. I just don't know.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Question you said you mentioned that you issued an order
- 1:13Speaker 1: to preclude her from events. Is that right. Answer. I
- 1:16Speaker 1: issued a directive to remove her from all contact lists
- 1:19Speaker 1: in President Clinton's world. Yes. Question did you communicate that
- 1:23Speaker 1: directly to her or just individuals in the Clinton Foundation? Answer?
- 1:28Speaker 1: I sent an email to the senior staff members in
- 1:30Speaker 1: the Clinton office. I don't recall whether I did or
- 1:33Speaker 1: didn't discuss it with her. Question has miss Maxwell after
- 1:38Speaker 1: that time that you ended your relationship, has she ever
- 1:40Speaker 1: attempted to contact you in any way? Answer? Not that
- 1:43Speaker 1: I know of, No, not that I recall. I don't know.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Question when did you find out that Miss Maxwell was
- 1:50Speaker 1: an alleged conspirator of mister Epstein. Answer? I don't recall
- 1:54Speaker 1: specifically when I found out. Question, mister band you stated
- 1:59Speaker 1: that you had no romantic relationship, no sexual contact. But
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'm just interested to know just exactly how close a
- 2:06Speaker 1: relationship you did have with Miss Maxwell. I will admit
- 2:10Speaker 1: to you that there are several messages between you and
- 2:13Speaker 1: Miss Maxwell with somewhat odd language, some nicknames, lovey, dovey,
- 2:17Speaker 1: you know, baby cakes. Can you explain your communication back
- 2:21Speaker 1: and forth with Miss Maxwell? How do you respond to that? Answer? Sure,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I appreciate the question. As I said, we were socially friends.
- 2:29Speaker 1: You know, those emails were silly. They're obviously not something
- 2:32Speaker 1: that I wrote at the time that I expected to
- 2:35Speaker 1: be read publicly, and certainly not in front of Congress
- 2:37Speaker 1: twenty five years later. That's somewhat embarrassing, but they were
- 2:41Speaker 1: just silly, flirtatious banter and my poor attempts at humor.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Question is that how she would communicate to other people
- 2:48Speaker 1: to your knowledge? Answer? I have no idea how she
- 2:52Speaker 1: communicated with other people. Question were you aware of that
- 2:55Speaker 1: mister Epstein regularly entertain young women at his residences and her?
- 3:00Speaker 1: No question. How did mister Epstein act toward the young
- 3:03Speaker 1: women or girls that were around them? Answer? I spent
- 3:07Speaker 1: very little time with mister Epstein, though I have no idea. Question,
- 3:11Speaker 1: so you were never around mister Epstein where there were
- 3:15Speaker 1: any young girls present? Answer I don't recall ever being
- 3:18Speaker 1: around them. When there gets cut off by the person
- 3:22Speaker 1: asking the questions. Did you ever witness mister Epstein engage
- 3:26Speaker 1: in sexual conduct? Answer no question. Did you ever witness
- 3:30Speaker 1: mister Epstein have sexual contact of any kind with young
- 3:33Speaker 1: women or girls? Answer no? Question. Did mister Epstein ever
- 3:39Speaker 1: discuss sexual acts of any kind with you? Answer no? Question,
- 3:43Speaker 1: did mister Epstein ever discuss any kind of sexual acts
- 3:47Speaker 1: with you? Answer no? Did Miss Maxwell ever discuss sexual
- 3:51Speaker 1: acts with you? Answer no, not that I can recall.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Question was it common for mister Epstein or Miss Maxwell
- 3:58Speaker 1: to bring young women or girls a place where the
- 4:01Speaker 1: two of you would meet? Answer? Sorry, who's the two
- 4:04Speaker 1: of us? Question be you or Miss Maxwell or mister Epstein?
- 4:08Speaker 1: So one of those two? Answer not that I recall.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But again, as I said, I have a very limited
- 4:13Speaker 1: interaction with them. Question did mister Abstein or Miss Maxwell
- 4:18Speaker 1: ever ask you if you wanted them to bring women
- 4:21Speaker 1: or girls to you? Answer no, not that I recall.
- 4:23Speaker 1: No question. Did you ever have any sexual contact with
- 4:27Speaker 1: young women or girls in the presence of mister Epstein
- 4:30Speaker 1: or Miss Maxwell? Answer no. Question. Did you ever have
- 4:35Speaker 1: any sexual contact with any young woman or girl introduced
- 4:38Speaker 1: to you by mister Epstein or a Miss Maxwell? Answer no. Question.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Did you ever witness mister Abstein receive a massage from
- 4:46Speaker 1: a young woman or a girl? Answer no. Question did
- 4:50Speaker 1: you ever receive a massage from any young women or
- 4:53Speaker 1: girls brought to you by or introduced to you by
- 4:56Speaker 1: mister Ebstein or a Miss Maxwell? Answer no question. Did
- 5:01Speaker 1: you ever hear about mister Epstein receiving massages? Answer not
- 5:04Speaker 1: that I recall question. Did you ever hear about miss
- 5:07Speaker 1: Maxwell receiving massages or giving massages? Answer not that I
- 5:12Speaker 1: recall questions. So you never had a discussion with mister
- 5:15Speaker 1: Epstein or Miss Maxwell about the topic of massages? Answer no,
- 5:21Speaker 1: not that I recall. Mister Emmer, you mentioned in your
- 5:24Speaker 1: opening statement that you started hearing rumors in twenty eleven.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Can you elaborate on what those rumors were? Band answers.
- 5:32Speaker 1: You know there was Again, I apologize, I'm doing my
- 5:35Speaker 1: best to remember back then. I don't recall specifically what
- 5:38Speaker 1: they were. There was an article at some point in
- 5:41Speaker 1: twenty eleven that potentially implicated her, and I had heard
- 5:44Speaker 1: some I recall hearing some things. I don't remember what
- 5:48Speaker 1: they specifically were, but just the inkling of her potential
- 5:52Speaker 1: involvement in those activities was enough for me to take
- 5:56Speaker 1: action to remove her from Clinton's world. Do you recall
- 6:00Speaker 1: whether anyone involved in the Clinton Foundation had similar concerns
- 6:04Speaker 1: related to Miss Maxwell or mister Epstein around the time.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Band That's a good question. I don't know. Question. We
- 6:11Speaker 1: have an additional member of Congress join, Can they please
- 6:14Speaker 1: announce themselves for the record. James Walkinshaw, Virginia eleventh District, redacted,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Staff Director, Ranking Member Garcia. Question by mister Harness. Mister Band,
- 6:28Speaker 1: you've been quoted as saying Bill Clinton was in my
- 6:30Speaker 1: life for almost twenty years. Can you just explain what
- 6:33Speaker 1: that means? Answer? Well, I think I said my opening statement,
- 6:36Speaker 1: the entire first half of my life I spent working
- 6:39Speaker 1: for him. Question mister Band, when did President Clinton first
- 6:43Speaker 1: meet Jeffrey Epstein? Answer? I don't know. Questions so, based
- 6:47Speaker 1: on your experiences and observations, how would you describe the
- 6:50Speaker 1: nature of President Clinton's relationship with mister Epstein? Answer to me,
- 6:55Speaker 1: they appeared to be friends. Question and to your knowledge
- 6:59Speaker 1: that two thousand and one that I keep going back to,
- 7:01Speaker 1: was that the first time that President Clinton had met
- 7:03Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein or Glenn Maxwell. Answer again, I'm not exactly
- 7:07Speaker 1: sure whether it was two thousand and one or two
- 7:10Speaker 1: thousand and two. I'm not sure of the distinction. I
- 7:13Speaker 1: don't know. I'm sorry, could you restate the question? Answer? Yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 1: So I just asked you how you would describe the
- 7:19Speaker 1: nature of President Clinton's relationship with mister Epstein. Going back
- 7:22Speaker 1: to that dinner in two thousand and one, was that
- 7:25Speaker 1: the first time that the president had met Jeffrey Epstein
- 7:28Speaker 1: or a Glenn Maxwell. I know you were a president there,
- 7:30Speaker 1: but can you just expand on President Clinton's relationship. Answer?
- 7:34Speaker 1: You know, as I said, I don't know whether or
- 7:37Speaker 1: not that was the first time that he met him
- 7:39Speaker 1: or not. And I was a staff member of staffing
- 7:41Speaker 1: him at the dinner, so it was the first time
- 7:43Speaker 1: that I did as I again have a vague recollection
- 7:46Speaker 1: of question, can you explain what you meant by you
- 7:50Speaker 1: thought that President Clinton and mister Epstein were friends? Answer? Well,
- 7:54Speaker 1: you asked me to describe their relationship. They appeared to
- 7:56Speaker 1: be friends to me. I mean, Jeffrey Epstein had an
- 7:59Speaker 1: airplane and things that were important to the president and
- 8:02Speaker 1: the potential of being a supporter of his and friend
- 8:05Speaker 1: of his. So that's what it seemed to be to me. Question,
- 8:08Speaker 1: So they had to your knowledge friendly conversations any time
- 8:11Speaker 1: that you were present around President Clinton and mister Epstein. Answer,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I don't recall ever being present for any of their conversations. Again,
- 8:20Speaker 1: as I said, I have a vague recollection of being
- 8:23Speaker 1: at the dinner, but I was staffing the dinner, so
- 8:25Speaker 1: I wasn't incredibly involved in it, and I don't recall
- 8:28Speaker 1: any other conversation that I was part of with the
- 8:31Speaker 1: two of them. Question, well, what about the trips that
- 8:34Speaker 1: with mister Epstein that you took on his private plane?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Were you president on the private plane trips that mister
- 8:39Speaker 1: Clinton would take? Answer? I was, and I don't ever
- 8:43Speaker 1: recall engaging with mister Epstein on those trips. Question, but
- 8:46Speaker 1: you never saw President Clinton speaking with or conversing with
- 8:49Speaker 1: mister Epstein. Answer? Well, the way that again this is
- 8:53Speaker 1: the best of my recollection because it's been some time.
- 8:57Speaker 1: The way that this large airplane was set up is
- 8:59Speaker 1: the guests were heated in the front, the Secret Service
- 9:02Speaker 1: sat in the middle, and then Jeffrey Epstein was in
- 9:04Speaker 1: the back, and he had an office in the back
- 9:06Speaker 1: of the plane. I don't ever recall him coming to
- 9:08Speaker 1: with the front of the plane. The President, when he
- 9:11Speaker 1: would visit with him, would do it privately in the
- 9:13Speaker 1: back of the plane. But during those trips, question, when
- 9:16Speaker 1: you would make stops, you had certain events that you
- 9:18Speaker 1: were attending. Is that correct? Answer? There were certain events
- 9:22Speaker 1: that President Clinton was attending and I was staffing him. Yes.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Question and in any of those events, on any of
- 9:29Speaker 1: those trips, you never saw a conversation between President Clinton
- 9:33Speaker 1: or mister Epstein. Answer I don't recall being part of
- 9:36Speaker 1: any conversation. Question. Did the President ever raise concerns to
- 9:40Speaker 1: you about mister Epstein? Answer not that I recall. Did
- 9:44Speaker 1: you ever express concerns about mister Epstein the President Clinton? Answer?
- 9:48Speaker 1: I didn't really know him, so I didn't spend time
- 9:50Speaker 1: with him and didn't really have a view on expressing
- 9:53Speaker 1: those concerns. Did you ever advise President Clinton to end
- 9:57Speaker 1: his relationship with mister Epstein? Answer? I don't recall whether
- 10:02Speaker 1: I did or didn't advise him on that question. Will
- 10:05Speaker 1: say in the twenty twenty Vanity Fair interview of your
- 10:08Speaker 1: states that you did advise President Clinton and his relationship
- 10:12Speaker 1: with mister Epstein. Is that true, mister Shapiro, Is it
- 10:15Speaker 1: true that it says that or is it true that
- 10:18Speaker 1: he did it? Question? Is it true that you did it? Answer? Sorry?
- 10:21Speaker 1: Could you repeat the question? I'm sorry? Question? Yeah, This
- 10:25Speaker 1: is the twenty twenty Vanity Fair article to which you
- 10:27Speaker 1: were interviewed in There, it states that you had advised
- 10:30Speaker 1: Clinton to end the relationship after the two thousand and
- 10:33Speaker 1: two trip to Africa? Is that true? Answer? You know,
- 10:36Speaker 1: the Vanity Fair article was several years ago. I spent
- 10:38Speaker 1: a long period of time engaging with them, and I
- 10:41Speaker 1: don't recall the specific conversations I had or didn't have
- 10:44Speaker 1: with them. Question. So, when you stated that you were
- 10:47Speaker 1: insulating the president from Glene Maxwell and mister Epstein, it
- 10:51Speaker 1: was not after the two thousand and two Africa trip.
- 10:53Speaker 1: It was not directly after that. Answer, As I said,
- 10:57Speaker 1: the email was sent removing her from instructing staff to
- 11:00Speaker 1: remover from all of this was twenty eleven. I had
- 11:03Speaker 1: very little interaction or anything to do with Jeffrey Epstein. Question.
- 11:07Speaker 1: The article then states that you would call Epstein made
- 11:10Speaker 1: a bunch of ridiculous claims like boasting that he invented
- 11:13Speaker 1: the derivatives market, said that you had bad vibes from
- 11:17Speaker 1: mister Epstein. Can you explain anything about the two thousand
- 11:19Speaker 1: and two Africa trip and why you would have these
- 11:22Speaker 1: bad vibes? Answer, as it relates to the trip. You know,
- 11:25Speaker 1: as I said earlier, he went on an incredible amount
- 11:29Speaker 1: of humanitarian missions. You know after the earthquakes in Gujarat,
- 11:33Speaker 1: after an earthquake in India, after the tsunamis in Southeast Asia.
- 11:36Speaker 1: He went on a few trips with President Bush forty one.
- 11:39Speaker 1: So he went to Africa, to the best of my recollection,
- 11:42Speaker 1: many many times over his post presidential life. And I
- 11:45Speaker 1: staffed him on those trips, traveling two hundred and fifty
- 11:48Speaker 1: to three hundred days a year. I just don't remember
- 11:50Speaker 1: specifically that trip. Sorry. What was the second part of
- 11:53Speaker 1: the question? Question just to explain the bad vibes that
- 11:58Speaker 1: you got from mister Epstein on the tripe? Answer? You know,
- 12:02Speaker 1: as I said earlier, I had a lot of conversations
- 12:04Speaker 1: over a long period of time with Vanity Fair, and
- 12:07Speaker 1: I don't remember the specifics of those conversations. I don't
- 12:10Speaker 1: remember or recall having good or bad vibes or anything.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Question did Vanity Fair reach out to you for the interview? Answer?
- 12:18Speaker 1: I don't remember the specifics of it. Question Why do
- 12:21Speaker 1: you think they would write that you had bad vibes? Answer?
- 12:24Speaker 1: As I said, I don't know. I don't remember the
- 12:26Speaker 1: specifics of those conversations. It was several years ago, and
- 12:30Speaker 1: it took over a long period of time. Question. I'm
- 12:33Speaker 1: sure you know that will have other questions related to
- 12:36Speaker 1: the Vanity Fair article, But do you feel that the
- 12:38Speaker 1: Vanity Fair misrepresented your discussions with them in this article? Answer?
- 12:43Speaker 1: You know, as I said, the Vanity Fair piece was
- 12:46Speaker 1: several years ago. Sometimes reporters get things right, sometimes they
- 12:49Speaker 1: get them wrong, as you certainly know, I just don't
- 12:52Speaker 1: recall the specifics of those conversations that I had with
- 12:55Speaker 1: Vanity Fair over a long period of time. Question. You
- 13:00Speaker 1: said your conversations with Vanity Fair were over a long
- 13:02Speaker 1: period of time, three months, six months, a year. Do
- 13:04Speaker 1: you recall how long you were talking to Vanity Fair
- 13:07Speaker 1: leading up to the article? Mister band I'm sorry, I
- 13:10Speaker 1: just don't recall specifically. I just remember it being a
- 13:13Speaker 1: long time. All right, folks, we're gonna wrap up right here,
- 13:16Speaker 1: and in the next episode dealing with the topic, we're
- 13:18Speaker 1: gonna pick up where we left off. All the information
- 13:21Speaker 1: that goes with this episode can be found in the
- 13:24Speaker 1: description box.
