- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Big
- 0:13Speaker 1: Blue Nation. This is your crotchety old grouch, Michael Bennett,
- 0:19Speaker 1: on this Tuesday, September 15th. Everybody's doing well today. If
- 0:24Speaker 1: you want to give us a call, 502-384-1450. You want
- 0:28Speaker 1: to text me on the Whiskey Thief text line, you
- 0:30Speaker 1: can do that. I might open it up and let
- 0:32Speaker 1: you talk on here. I don't know, 502-414-1450, because I'm
- 0:36Speaker 1: a crotchety old guy. But anyway, Justin Kalin, good morning.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Good morning. Are you okay today? I'm good.
- 0:44Speaker 2: But if you're going to make fun of me and
- 0:45Speaker 2: what I said, I actually said curmudgeon.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I don't care. I like crotchety more, okay? A crotchety
- 0:53Speaker 1: kind of makes me uncomfortable. Does it really? Yeah. Why?
- 0:55Speaker 1: I don't really like that word. Oh, you don't? Oh,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I do.
- 0:58Speaker 2: You know how you have those words that just kind
- 1:00Speaker 2: of make you feel ick? Crotchety is one of those
- 1:02Speaker 2: for me.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Is it really?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04Speaker 1: You just don't like the, take the itty off and
- 1:06Speaker 1: that's the part you don't like. Is that fair?
- 1:09Speaker 2: Or you just don't like crotch itty at all? I
- 1:11Speaker 2: just don't like that word at all.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Really? It just kind of gives me the icky feel. Okay. Yeah,
- 1:16Speaker 1: there's words I don't like. You know, you've been around
- 1:21Speaker 1: me enough. You know I really don't cuss.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I never have. And there's a few of them out there.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I just don't like them. And I've got my buddies
- 1:30Speaker 1: use them, and I just put up with it, and
- 1:31Speaker 1: it's okay. But I just don't get it. You know,
- 1:35Speaker 1: when I watch a TV show or a movie– And
- 1:38Speaker 1: they're constantly using one particular word. It just gets on
- 1:42Speaker 1: my nerves. No, you must be watching Samuel L. Jackson. Yeah, but,
- 1:47Speaker 1: you know, some guys get away with it, and he's
- 1:50Speaker 1: probably one of them. What about non-cuss words? What do
- 1:54Speaker 1: you mean? Is there one that I don't like? For instance,
- 1:57Speaker 1: I have a few friends that can't stand the word moist. Moist?
- 2:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 1: What is wrong with moist? It gives them the heebie-jeebies. Really?
- 2:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Correct. Interesting. I've never heard that before. I mean, I know...
- 2:15Speaker 1: There used to be a TV show on PBS where...
- 2:19Speaker 1: And I don't remember the guy's name. It was awesome.
- 2:23Speaker 1: And where he would interview different celebrities. And the Actor's
- 2:30Speaker 1: Studio is what it was called. And I don't know
- 2:32Speaker 1: if you ever saw it or not. Somebody will text
- 2:34Speaker 1: me and tell me what the guy's name was, but...
- 2:36Speaker 1: He would interview like one of the best ones interviews
- 2:39Speaker 1: he ever did was Robin Williams. And then at the
- 2:43Speaker 1: end of the interview, he would ask the same questions.
- 2:48Speaker 1: What is a word that you do not like? And
- 2:52Speaker 1: then they would all come up with a different word
- 2:54Speaker 1: they didn't like. What is a sound that you love
- 2:57Speaker 1: to hear? What is the sound that you do not
- 2:59Speaker 1: love to hear? And I thought it was always interesting
- 3:03Speaker 1: to hear all these different actors come up with their answer.
- 3:08Speaker 1: And yeah, there was one that, and I can't say
- 3:11Speaker 1: it on the radio, what Robin Williams says, I can
- 3:13Speaker 1: remember to this day. And I would have to agree
- 3:15Speaker 1: with the word that he used. But yeah, it was,
- 3:18Speaker 1: you should go back. It's on YouTube and you can
- 3:21Speaker 1: watch the entire episodes. Can you at least tell me
- 3:25Speaker 1: what it started with? C.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I think we know. Exactly. And I would agree with that. Probably,
- 3:32Speaker 1: because if I asked you, what is the one sound
- 3:37Speaker 1: that you love to hear in the entire world, what
- 3:42Speaker 1: would it be? My voice. I never expected you to
- 3:52Speaker 1: say that. No, honestly. Oh, my gosh. If I want
- 3:56Speaker 1: to stay on that route, Don Fisher's voice. Really?
- 4:00Speaker 2: Love when I hear Don Fisher.
- 4:02Speaker 1: So there are certain voices out there on the radio
- 4:06Speaker 1: or even on TV that absolutely relax me.
- 4:11Speaker 2: And that's for you. Jim Nance would be another one.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Jim Nance is a great one. Absolutely, that's a great one.
- 4:18Speaker 1: But so the sound of your voice is the first
- 4:22Speaker 1: answer that you came out with. No, it depends on
- 4:24Speaker 1: what time.
- 4:25Speaker 2: There are days where I do enjoy listening to myself,
- 4:29Speaker 2: but then there's other days where I call it, when
- 4:32Speaker 2: I'm at the other station, I call it, I'm having
- 4:34Speaker 2: a bad voice day. And that's when I'm like editing
- 4:36Speaker 2: a track that I'm doing, and I just, I cannot
- 4:39Speaker 2: stand to listen to it. Like it just, it sounds horrible.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I can't stand my voice.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh, cause I can tell you, there's a few
- 4:46Speaker 1: media members here in Louisville. I, I just like, I,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I chalks to a, what is it? Chalks to a
- 4:52Speaker 1: nail board, uh, nails to a chalkboard. And, uh, but,
- 4:56Speaker 1: but no, I, uh, I, I do not like the
- 5:00Speaker 1: sound of my voice. I will tell you right now.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I don't like hearing me talk. That's why I cannot,
- 5:05Speaker 1: I literally cannot go back and listen to me on
- 5:07Speaker 1: the radio. I'd never, back in the old station that
- 5:11Speaker 1: I used to be on, on iHeart, the guy, the
- 5:14Speaker 1: head guy there, really, really nice guy. I loved the guy.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Like I did majority of the people over there at
- 5:21Speaker 1: iHeart would always sit me down once a quarter. Okay, Michael,
- 5:26Speaker 1: let's listen to a couple of shows. And I would
- 5:29Speaker 1: cringe and I couldn't listen. It's like, I'm sorry, Josh,
- 5:33Speaker 1: I can't listen to this. And he's like, Michael, how
- 5:37Speaker 1: are you going to learn? Exactly. I've told you that.
- 5:39Speaker 1: I know. I know you have. And I know you
- 5:42Speaker 1: make a habit of it. And great for you. I
- 5:44Speaker 1: just can't do it. I mean, you're either going to
- 5:47Speaker 1: love this show or you're not. And it's okay. It's
- 5:50Speaker 1: okay if you don't. Because I can get it sometime.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Because when people say, you're on the radio, I say, yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 1: please don't go listen to me. And then they want
- 5:57Speaker 1: to go listen. It's like, no, you don't want to.
- 6:00Speaker 1: This is a horrible show. It's so dumb. No. But no.
- 6:04Speaker 1: That's overreacting. Jim Nance, I think, is a good name
- 6:07Speaker 1: right there. I would say, who's another really good? Tom Hanks,
- 6:13Speaker 1: I think, has a voice that is calming. Gosh, who's
- 6:17Speaker 1: the guy that just died? Well, not just died. Oh,
- 6:20Speaker 1: my gosh. The guy that just died. James Earl Jones. Oh, yes. Baseball, Ray. Baseball. Oh, man.
- 6:29Speaker 1: He was awesome. I would think the other actor from
- 6:32Speaker 1: Mississippi as well, the big Ole Miss fan that's been
- 6:37Speaker 1: in lots of movies. Oh, shoot. I can't think of
- 6:40Speaker 1: his name. Morgan Freeman. Morgan Freeman, I think, is another actor.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I didn't know he was an Ole Miss guy. Oh, yeah.
- 6:45Speaker 1: He's a big Ole Miss fan. That's unfortunate. Why is
- 6:48Speaker 1: that unfortunate? I don't have a problem with Ole Miss.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I don't really. Okay. All right, then. I mean, there's
- 6:53Speaker 1: better teams. Now, honestly, go back to the question. What
- 6:56Speaker 1: is one sound that you love to hear? Because I
- 6:59Speaker 1: can tell you what mine is. I mean, I don't
- 7:03Speaker 1: know that I have a specific sound. Really? I'm more generic,
- 7:06Speaker 1: like just music in general.
- 7:08Speaker 5: Okay.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Okay, drums. You like the sound of drums? Yeah, I
- 7:11Speaker 1: love the sound of drums. All right. I would have
- 7:13Speaker 1: to say I love the sound of my wife laughing. Okay,
- 7:16Speaker 1: that's a good one. She must be listening this morning. No,
- 7:19Speaker 1: she had never listened to this. I mean, yeah, you
- 7:21Speaker 1: think I'm trying to suck up? No, that's not it.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I cherish the time she is literally barrel laughing because
- 7:29Speaker 1: those are those sounds. Or even my boys the same way.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I love it when we're all together laughing. Now, what
- 7:36Speaker 1: is a sound that you do not like to hear?
- 7:41Speaker 1: I mean, obviously, nails on a chalkboard is a pretty
- 7:44Speaker 1: bad one.
- 7:45Speaker 5: It is?
- 7:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 7:46Speaker 2: There is a sound that really gets to me. Oh,
- 7:50Speaker 2: like a high-pitched, like, just beeping.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Really?
- 7:53Speaker 2: Like a constant beep will drive me nuts. Or if, like,
- 7:58Speaker 2: you know in your house when your smoke alarms are
- 8:01Speaker 2: going out?
- 8:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 1: And you'll get that chirp every, like, 15, 20 seconds
- 8:07Speaker 1: or whatever? Right. That drives me up the wall. Yes.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Yes.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I would have to say somebody literally upset and yelling
- 8:14Speaker 1: is what I don't like. Confrontation is what I do
- 8:16Speaker 1: not like. I can get behind that. Yeah. Yeah. Is
- 8:19Speaker 1: there a word that you love? I mean, there's all
- 8:23Speaker 1: kinds of words that I love. Is there really?
- 8:25Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Okay. I mean, once I start down that road, I
- 8:29Speaker 1: may not stop. Well, go with one. Just give me two.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Two words that I love. Ubiquitous. I love using ubiquitous. Ubiquitous.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I have never heard you use the word ubiquitous. I
- 8:42Speaker 1: don't know if I've ever been able to use it
- 8:44Speaker 1: on a setting on this show. Well, because it's unintelligent.
- 8:48Speaker 1: That's why. That's an intelligent word, ubiquitous. And then. What
- 8:52Speaker 1: does ubiquitous mean? Everywhere. Very good. Like smartphones are ubiquitous.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:58Speaker 1: AI is ubiquitous. See, I put out there infinity along
- 9:01Speaker 1: with ubiquitous. Oh, you know what my other word is?
- 9:04Speaker 1: I'm ready. Juncture.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Exactly. That might be one of the words that just
- 9:09Speaker 1: drive me up the wall. You know what? I didn't
- 9:11Speaker 1: use it on today's show or yesterday. Congratulations. I know.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Good for you. I'm just kidding. I love to bug you.
- 9:18Speaker 1: That's that's one of those things. I really it's not
- 9:20Speaker 1: that I'm trying because I think when you get under
- 9:23Speaker 1: someone's skin, I think that's a negative reaction. It's not
- 9:27Speaker 1: necessarily getting under my skin. It's getting in my head,
- 9:30Speaker 1: which is worse.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Yes.
- 9:31Speaker 2: But it's just fun. Because now I have to think
- 9:34Speaker 2: about when I'm talking, don't use juncture. Don't use juncture. Well,
- 9:37Speaker 2: don't do that. No, don't do that. But you just,
- 9:41Speaker 2: you be you. And if the word juncture comes out,
- 9:44Speaker 2: I don't care. I just love teasing you. Because you
- 9:46Speaker 2: know what? Teasing for me is my love language. When
- 9:52Speaker 2: somebody's teasing to me, I accept it as love language.
- 9:56Speaker 2: And I love it when people cut on me and
- 9:58Speaker 2: tease me and do.
- 9:59Speaker 1: That kind of stuff. It makes me feel good. It
- 10:02Speaker 1: always has. I mean, through my entire life, my entire career,
- 10:07Speaker 1: when I knew someone was teasing me, I knew we
- 10:09Speaker 1: were friends. Because there's a comfort level there. And I
- 10:14Speaker 1: love that. So the fact that I'm teasing you about
- 10:16Speaker 1: that is a love language towards you. And I appreciate
- 10:19Speaker 1: what you do. I believe you. Anyway, but yeah, yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 1: there you go. But I just, I don't know. That's
- 10:25Speaker 1: just what a wild topic we got on today. But
- 10:27Speaker 1: what's new? That's what this fucking show. Just the cats. Exactly.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Welcome in if it's your first time. Exactly. If it's
- 10:33Speaker 1: not your first time, I'm so sorry. And I'm so
- 10:35Speaker 1: sorry you're still here listening to this. But anyway, I
- 10:39Speaker 1: thought that was funny. But I wish somebody would remember
- 10:45Speaker 1: and text me in 502-414-1450 what the name of that
- 10:49Speaker 1: show was, or the interviewer, because he was phenomenal. And
- 10:54Speaker 1: I'm not kidding. I know you won't do it, but
- 10:56Speaker 1: go back to the actor's studio and watch the episode
- 11:00Speaker 1: with Robin Williams. Well, it sounds like you remember the
- 11:02Speaker 1: name of it. Well, I don't remember the interviewer. The
- 11:06Speaker 1: guy that actually did the interviewing. When I was in
- 11:09Speaker 1: New York last year, I went to where the actors...
- 11:13Speaker 1: Mark Connelly. No, it's not him. I went to the
- 11:17Speaker 1: actual studio, because it's a school there in New York City.
- 11:22Speaker 1: James Lipton. That's it. James Lipton. Because he had a
- 11:28Speaker 1: little pin on him, AOPA, and that's the organization for
- 11:33Speaker 1: private pilots. and Robin Williams was commenting on it because
- 11:39Speaker 1: it had the airplane going down as if it's going
- 11:42Speaker 1: to crash, and he went off on that. He ad-libbed
- 11:47Speaker 1: probably 150% of the entire interview. That's Robin Williams. Exactly.
- 11:53Speaker 1: And it was unbelievably funny the entire time. So I
- 11:58Speaker 1: highly recommend it. You go see that.
- 12:01Speaker 5: All right.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Yesterday, an Alabama writer wrote a post and announced that
- 12:08Speaker 1: he is demanding Kirk Herbstreit to apologize to Alabama and
- 12:12Speaker 1: head coach Kalen DeBoer because he picked UK to win
- 12:16Speaker 1: last weekend over the Crimson Tide. Shut up. That's exactly
- 12:20Speaker 1: what I said. I'm not going to tell you who
- 12:23Speaker 1: the writer is. Because he started reaching out to me,
- 12:26Speaker 1: and I'm just like, all I said to him was,
- 12:30Speaker 1: I'm so thankful I'm not an Alabama fan. That's all
- 12:33Speaker 1: I said. I would have said, I'm just so thankful
- 12:35Speaker 1: I'm not a loser fan. Like, what?
- 12:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 1: You're mad because a talking head picked against you? Yes. Yes. And,
- 12:45Speaker 1: you know, Kirk Herbstreit is like that. He's always got
- 12:49Speaker 1: a little sympathy for UK, it seems like. Well, maybe
- 12:53Speaker 1: sympathy is the wrong word. But he's a bit of
- 12:57Speaker 1: a fan for UK is what I've always kind of felt. Now,
- 13:00Speaker 1: I got it when Mark Stoops was still the head
- 13:03Speaker 1: coach there because they were really good friends. But since
- 13:07Speaker 1: Mark Stoops is gone, it seems like that kind of
- 13:09Speaker 1: fandom thing that Kirk Street has for UK football is
- 13:14Speaker 1: still prevalent. And I kind of like that. So what's
- 13:18Speaker 1: wrong with, I don't get why somebody would write down, oh,
- 13:22Speaker 1: you picked another team against us.
- 13:25Speaker 2: You know how many games last year that they were
- 13:28Speaker 2: making their predictions and Pat McAfee was the only one
- 13:31Speaker 2: to pick Indiana?
- 13:33Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 13:34Speaker 2: I mean, there were at least three games where Pat
- 13:36Speaker 2: was the only one to take Indiana. And I never
- 13:39Speaker 2: once heard anybody complain.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Because we're not babies. Yeah. Like that's something that
- 13:45Speaker 1: should not matter. Well, that's what I thought. I thought
- 13:48Speaker 1: when you have an Alabama sports writer. demanding Kirk Corp
- 13:53Speaker 1: Street apologize to the Alabama fan base and head coach,
- 13:56Speaker 1: Kalen DeBoer. It's like, really, man? That is loser behavior.
- 14:00Speaker 1: That's what I thought. And it's like, okay, all right,
- 14:03Speaker 1: you be you. But I just thought it was rather silly.
- 14:09Speaker 1: But anyway, here we go. I don't know why you're
- 14:12Speaker 1: concerned about that. Everybody in the world was believing that
- 14:15Speaker 1: Alabama was going to win. Now, it was a fun
- 14:17Speaker 1: first half. I wish the game was only 30 minutes.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I bet. Guess what? It would have been over. And
- 14:25Speaker 1: I'm okay with it. I mean, we're four days out
- 14:28Speaker 1: from that game now. And I'm still okay with the result.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I'm not surprised. Am I coming down hard on Will
- 14:37Speaker 1: Stein and the football program? Absolutely not. It's going to
- 14:41Speaker 1: be a long time before I feel like, Will Stein, no, no,
- 14:45Speaker 1: this isn't working out. It's going to be a long time.
- 14:48Speaker 1: And I like that winner mentality. Because everything he said
- 14:52Speaker 1: last week, I still stand behind what he said. Okay,
- 14:56Speaker 1: so it does go a little bit deeper than that.
- 14:58Speaker 1: It does.
- 14:59Speaker 2: The guy has reasoning for it. I guess Kirk had
- 15:02Speaker 2: made the comment that Alabama has a habit of quitting
- 15:05Speaker 2: at times. And he came out and he said that
- 15:07Speaker 2: the accusation that the team quit crossed the line from
- 15:10Speaker 2: a standard bad prediction into an unfair character indictment.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Oh, whatever. But that's still that's still what that's his opinion.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I mean, you tell me that Kirk Herbstreet can't come
- 15:22Speaker 1: out with his own. I got all kinds of opinion.
- 15:24Speaker 1: So you're telling me I need to mute myself yesterday.
- 15:27Speaker 1: And we're going to talk about this again in a
- 15:28Speaker 1: little bit. Yesterday, I had an opinion that you absolutely
- 15:33Speaker 1: disagreed with. But I didn't shame you because you had
- 15:38Speaker 1: a different opinion. We just disagreed. What's wrong with that?
- 15:42Speaker 1: I mean, that's basic human nature. It is nature, human nature.
- 15:46Speaker 1: And that's what I love. If we all agreed with everything,
- 15:50Speaker 1: wouldn't the world be kind of boring? Or it might
- 15:52Speaker 1: be a lot better. Oh, really? Who knows? Well, it's
- 15:57Speaker 1: on how you handle it. Especially if it starts at
- 15:59Speaker 1: the top. Well, yeah. Okay. Careful now. We're stepping on
- 16:04Speaker 1: a line that I don't want to go down. Yeah, exactly.
- 16:07Speaker 1: But you know what? We can discuss it and walk
- 16:10Speaker 1: away and we're still friends. That's the difference. Being a
- 16:14Speaker 1: mature human.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Well, I don't know if it's maturity or not. I mean,
- 16:19Speaker 2: there is a little bit of immaturity to have this take.
- 16:22Speaker 2: If you're that writer.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. That's what I thought. Yeah. Kirk Kerbstree didn't
- 16:28Speaker 1: cross any line. He just gave his opinion, and I'm
- 16:31Speaker 1: okay with it. So, anyway, I just thought that was
- 16:34Speaker 1: kind of silly. I thought, okay, we're going to talk
- 16:36Speaker 1: about that today because I just like he's not going
- 16:39Speaker 1: to get any credit for me as far as who
- 16:42Speaker 1: he is or anything like that. You can go find
- 16:44Speaker 1: it if you want, but I'm not going to talk
- 16:46Speaker 1: about it, who he is, and give him more credit
- 16:49Speaker 1: than he deserves. It's not deserving. But all right. UK
- 16:53Speaker 1: this weekend is going to be faces Texas A & M.
- 16:58Speaker 1: That's about all you could say. Well, exactly. You look
- 17:02Speaker 1: at the polls and Alabama went up to number eight.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Texas is number nine. So basically we're facing the same.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I mean, you look at it. It doesn't matter if
- 17:13Speaker 1: you're eight or nine. You're pretty much the same kind
- 17:15Speaker 1: of caliber team, aren't you? I would. Yeah. Yeah. I
- 17:20Speaker 1: would say so. Only difference this time is that Alabama,
- 17:25Speaker 1: I mean, Texas A & M has a dual quarterback
- 17:27Speaker 1: named Marcel Reed. So that's the biggest fear for me
- 17:32Speaker 1: is dual quarterbacks. Can this defense that's brand new handle
- 17:37Speaker 1: a dual quarterback?
- 17:38Speaker 2: Do you make anything of the takes from yesterday between
- 17:43Speaker 2: Louisville and Kentucky fans about being on ESPN, ESPN2?
- 17:47Speaker 1: I tell you, I missed it. I don't know what
- 17:49Speaker 1: you're talking about.
- 17:50Speaker 2: So there's been beef back and forth because the Texas
- 17:53Speaker 2: A & M game and Kentucky game is on ESPN.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Yeah. And Louisville SMU is on ESPN too. Okay. So
- 17:59Speaker 1: there's just been a back and forth. What difference does
- 18:01Speaker 1: it make?
- 18:01Speaker 2: We're better than you because we're on ESPN and y'all
- 18:04Speaker 2: are on ESPN too.
- 18:05Speaker 1: That's where I'm at. I'm with you. There is no difference. No.
- 18:09Speaker 1: It's a cable network.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Now.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Everybody can find it. ESPN one or whatever you want
- 18:14Speaker 1: to call it. ESPN is the main television station for it. And, ESPN, too,
- 18:21Speaker 1: is the little brother station. So, yeah, from that standpoint,
- 18:23Speaker 1: I agree. But ESPN has an obligation to show the SEC.
- 18:29Speaker 1: That's the contractual obligation that they have. Exactly. So, sorry,
- 18:35Speaker 1: if Louisville doesn't like it, then don't be in the ACC. No,
- 18:40Speaker 1: I took it.
- 18:41Speaker 2: To believe that just cat fans were kind of poking
- 18:44Speaker 2: them about that.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Well, that's kind of having some fun. I don't have
- 18:47Speaker 1: a problem with that. I mean, I don't really either. But, yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 1: it's semantics as far as I'm concerned. I mean, if
- 18:55Speaker 1: a U.K. fan is making fun of that, man, we
- 18:57Speaker 1: got a lot more to worry about than UofL being
- 19:00Speaker 1: on the deuce. And, of course, you know, hopefully into
- 19:03Speaker 1: the season, that's what will happen when U.K. plays them.
- 19:06Speaker 1: But whatever. That's just silly mentality to me. But, okay, whatever.
- 19:14Speaker 1: It's just rivalry. It's not a rivalry. But, anyway. On
- 19:18Speaker 1: the football side, maybe, but not on the basketball side.
- 19:21Speaker 1: It hadn't been a rivalry in a long time. But
- 19:24Speaker 1: maybe if UofL wins in basketball this year, it'll get
- 19:28Speaker 1: a small step closer. So let's go ahead and take
- 19:30Speaker 1: our first break. 502-384-1450.
- 19:31Speaker 5: 502-414-1450.
- 19:31Speaker 1: You want to text me on the Whiskey Thief text
- 19:36Speaker 1: line when we come back? Yeah. Let's talk about what
- 19:39Speaker 1: I think the positives, the strengths and the weaknesses of
- 19:43Speaker 1: Texas A & M. Plus... Man, it seems like there's
- 19:46Speaker 1: some bad news coming around uh lsu this is not
- 19:50Speaker 1: the kind no this is not the kind i don't
- 19:53Speaker 1: think anybody wants so we'll talk about that as soon
- 19:55Speaker 1: as we get back stay right there this is jessica
- 20:04Speaker 1: I learned the path.
- 20:05Speaker 3: To heaven is full of sinners and believers.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Learn that happiness on earth.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Ain't just for high achievers.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I've come to know there's life before the age.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Of that red dirt road.
- 20:31Speaker 1: That's two times in a row that's happened today, by
- 20:41Speaker 1: the way. That one was not true.
- 20:44Speaker 5: Really?
- 20:44Speaker 1: Okay, good. That one was a matter of seconds. Really?
- 20:47Speaker 1: A matter of what? Seconds. Oh, okay, good. First one,
- 20:51Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, that's okay, but yeah. Song number two, country.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I'm a country boy. That's right. Yeah. Alan Jackson. I
- 20:58Speaker 1: love that. I, you know, we were, we're in the
- 21:00Speaker 1: midst of a conversation that I'm actually, I enjoy, I
- 21:05Speaker 1: would say 99% of our on break conversation. It's like, man,
- 21:09Speaker 1: we should be talking about this on the radio. So
- 21:11Speaker 1: you were asking me, uh, you were teasing about a water.
- 21:15Speaker 1: because there's a little bit of a drought in part
- 21:17Speaker 1: of the United States. Crappy Zephyr Hills. There we go.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Nobody's familiar with the Zephyr Hills water.
- 21:25Speaker 2: I'm just throwing a warning out there. If you go
- 21:27Speaker 2: down to Florida, do not drink Zephyr Hills.
- 21:29Speaker 1: It's delicious. I don't know why. I've got it all
- 21:31Speaker 1: over my house. Now, you made the comment, I would
- 21:35Speaker 1: rather drink creek water than this water bottle. And I'm like,
- 21:41Speaker 1: I've never had creek water in my life. That's unbelievable.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Is it really? Have there been a lot of people
- 21:49Speaker 1: that have literally drank creek water straight from the creek?
- 21:53Speaker 1: I mean, when you're a kid. That just sounds disgusting
- 21:56Speaker 1: to me.
- 21:56Speaker 2: There's nothing off the table when you're a kid. I
- 22:00Speaker 2: spent a lot of time in creeks as a kid.
- 22:02Speaker 2: You know, the funny part is I'll eat food that's
- 22:05Speaker 2: been anywhere. It doesn't bother me. If it falls on
- 22:08Speaker 2: the floor, I'll pick it up and eat it.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Yeah, same. But you'll drink water from a creek and
- 22:13Speaker 1: I won't. Absolutely, I won't. Yet, I know when I
- 22:16Speaker 1: go out in the river and I go swimming in
- 22:17Speaker 1: the Ohio River, I know I'm drinking the Ohio River.
- 22:22Speaker 1: That sounds disgusting to me. I will not touch the
- 22:25Speaker 1: Ohio River. You would not go swimming? I don't even
- 22:28Speaker 1: want to swim in there, no.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I mean, when you fly over Louisville, like coming in
- 22:34Speaker 2: from town or whether you're leaving out of town, that
- 22:37Speaker 2: thing looks so disgusting.
- 22:38Speaker 5: It is.
- 22:40Speaker 1: But I go swimming, and it doesn't bother me. I've
- 22:41Speaker 1: been swimming in it for years. It is brown as
- 22:44Speaker 1: all getting. I've been swimming in the Ohio River for
- 22:46Speaker 1: 45 years. That would explain a lot. Does it really? Oh,
- 22:50Speaker 1: my gosh. But I will not drink any kind of
- 22:54Speaker 1: creek water. So what creek were you drinking in as
- 22:57Speaker 1: a kid? How close was it to a city? Oh,
- 23:01Speaker 1: nowhere close. Oh, really?
- 23:03Speaker 5: No.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Well, that might be okay then. Yeah, I mean, it
- 23:05Speaker 1: was 45 minutes for us to get to Wal-Mart. When
- 23:08Speaker 1: I was a kid. Where was this? In Palmyra. It's
- 23:12Speaker 1: good old country. Okay. So, and you know, your brother's
- 23:16Speaker 1: probably up Creek going to the bathroom. So, and there
- 23:18Speaker 1: you are drinking it. So, all right, let's talk about.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Still tastes better than Zephyr Hills. No, it does not.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Zephyr Hills is good. LSU head coach Lane Kiffin was
- 23:29Speaker 1: giving his media conference, weekly media conference yesterday and started
- 23:34Speaker 1: talking about Ed Orgeron. which I didn't know anything was wrong.
- 23:40Speaker 1: And it looked like he was going to get emotional.
- 23:43Speaker 1: You could tell there is an absolute love and affinity
- 23:48Speaker 1: that Lane Kiffin has for former head coach of LSU,
- 23:52Speaker 1: Ed Orgeron, now assistant coach. And it was really sad
- 23:55Speaker 1: because he made the comment that Ed Orgeron has an
- 24:01Speaker 1: unspecified illness. And that makes you even worry more. So,
- 24:09Speaker 1: according to Lane Kiffin, is doing better following a scary
- 24:14Speaker 1: health scare. That's exactly what he said. A scary health scare.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I don't know what that means. And I've tried to
- 24:20Speaker 1: look online. It is a lot of scares. It's scared squared.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Scary squared. You could tell Kiffin was emotional about talking
- 24:29Speaker 1: about it. And Ed Orgeron said to Kiffin, Coach. I'm
- 24:35Speaker 1: not going to do that. You know I'm not going
- 24:39Speaker 1: to the hospital. If I'm dying, I'm dying on that
- 24:43Speaker 1: field out there. And that sounds so Ed Orgeron.
- 24:47Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 24:48Speaker 1: And I hate that for Ed Orgeron. I think he
- 24:51Speaker 1: is beloved. Absolutely. Don't you? No question. I mean, as
- 24:55Speaker 1: former coaches out there, Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier, I'm trying
- 25:05Speaker 1: to think who are some other ones that have retired.
- 25:07Speaker 1: I don't know, but the other two you've named, Ed
- 25:09Speaker 1: Orgeron's more beloved than them. I think so, too, without
- 25:13Speaker 1: a doubt. Now, Nick Saban's probably beloved within Alabama, but
- 25:17Speaker 1: I think outside of that fan base, Ed Orgeron would
- 25:20Speaker 1: beat him all day long, well, physically, and as much
- 25:24Speaker 1: as people love him. And do you think it's because...
- 25:30Speaker 1: That he was in the movie Blindside. I'm sure that helped.
- 25:33Speaker 1: I'm guaranteed it helped. But is it because he's just
- 25:35Speaker 1: a real character and his voice is so unique that
- 25:39Speaker 1: people just are attracted to him? That's it.
- 25:42Speaker 2: I mean, there's just a lot that goes into Ed Orgeron,
- 25:44Speaker 2: whether it's the voice, whether it's the personality. I mean,
- 25:48Speaker 2: there's a lot to be attracted to in regards to
- 25:51Speaker 2: Ed Orgeron. You know, you remember the time he took
- 25:56Speaker 2: the shirt off and he was flexing on camera and Yeah,
- 26:00Speaker 2: it's just, it's just, that's a crazy, crazy guy that
- 26:03Speaker 2: I just, and then there's been interviews where he starts
- 26:06Speaker 2: talking in Cajun, which I love that. Have you ever
- 26:10Speaker 2: heard him talking, speaking Cajun?
- 26:12Speaker 1: I don't think so. Oh, you got to go look
- 26:14Speaker 1: that up. That's even wilder to hear him literally speak Cajun,
- 26:20Speaker 1: the language. It's, it's crazy. You can't understand any of them. No, no, no, no. No,
- 26:27Speaker 1: it's not. It is an actual. It's not called. The
- 26:31Speaker 1: language isn't called Cajun. It's called something else. Creole. Creole.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Thank you. So he was speaking in Creole. Which is,
- 26:39Speaker 1: you know, it's a derivative of French. Correct. Isn't it?
- 26:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Which I thought, that's pretty freaking cool to hear him
- 26:47Speaker 1: talk like that. I just, I don't know. There's certain,
- 26:50Speaker 1: we've talked about this before. There's certain. dialects of the
- 26:54Speaker 1: English language that I really love. And that's one of them.
- 26:59Speaker 1: For sure. Is people from Louisiana. I mean, that's why
- 27:01Speaker 1: Swamp People is my favorite show ever. Oh, you love
- 27:04Speaker 1: that show. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Because of their accents. Yes.
- 27:09Speaker 1: You got to shoot them.
- 27:10Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 27:11Speaker 1: That's a perfect imitation. I just spit all over the place.
- 27:14Speaker 1: That's a perfect imitation of him. I don't know if
- 27:16Speaker 1: I got on YouTube or not, but it did. I
- 27:19Speaker 1: just projectiles went everywhere. But anyway, it's just like that.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I love that. It's just like hearing my mom and dad.
- 27:27Speaker 1: It takes me back to my parents. People that live
- 27:29Speaker 1: in Virginia have a certain kind of accent that I love. Virginia? Oh, yes.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Sometimes when you see somebody that is from Virginia, born
- 27:39Speaker 1: and raised there, it almost sounds a little bit like
- 27:43Speaker 1: a British accent. It's so thick. Oh, yeah. It's totally.
- 27:47Speaker 1: And then I think South Georgia accents are really relaxing
- 27:51Speaker 1: to me. So there's just a certain kind of. And
- 27:54Speaker 1: I can tell between the difference between Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia. Alabama,
- 28:02Speaker 1: and Louisiana. I think there's all different kinds of southern languages.
- 28:07Speaker 1: That makes America fun. We have so many different accents.
- 28:10Speaker 1: And then you go to Tennessee or parts of Kentucky,
- 28:12Speaker 1: I think they sound very similar. And they're really thick
- 28:16Speaker 1: as well. But anyway, yeah. Pope's the man. Well, it's
- 28:21Speaker 1: all right. Go Coyotes. And it's C-A-Y-T-S. I mean, my grandmother.
- 28:26Speaker 1: So there'd be times I'd have to ask my grandmother,
- 28:28Speaker 1: can you please repeat that? And so, anyway.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Speaking of Coach Pope, not to change the subject here
- 28:35Speaker 2: on you.
- 28:36Speaker 1: See about the horse yesterday. Did you see Saturday when
- 28:39Speaker 1: he was watching the football game and watching the Coach
- 28:44Speaker 1: Pope race? Oh, at the same time? At the same time.
- 28:48Speaker 1: But go ahead. Yeah, Kenny McPeak's horse. Yeah, McPeak. Not anymore.
- 28:51Speaker 1: It ain't Kenny McPeak's horse.
- 28:53Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Was it? What happened? I didn't see it. He dropped
- 28:55Speaker 1: it yesterday. What do you mean he dropped it? He
- 28:57Speaker 1: just said he's not doing it anymore. Let me go
- 29:01Speaker 1: back to the text I got about it.
- 29:03Speaker 3: What?
- 29:03Speaker 1: Pope dropped it or McPeak dropped it? McPeak dropped it.
- 29:07Speaker 1: He's not training the horse anymore?
- 29:09Speaker 4: No.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Isn't that crazy? That is crazy. Is he mad at
- 29:12Speaker 1: Mark Pope? I don't know. Wow. I don't know anything
- 29:15Speaker 1: about that. By the way, speaking of Mark Pope, we
- 29:18Speaker 1: now know when Big Blue Madness tickets will be available.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I know I got a text, I think within the
- 29:24Speaker 1: last week. And here's your answer. Friday. Friday. September 18th
- 29:30Speaker 1: at 5 o'clock. Here's the problem you have. You can
- 29:34Speaker 1: only get them through Ticketmaster. They're free, but they're not free.
- 29:41Speaker 1: There's going to be a service charge. And you can
- 29:44Speaker 1: only get two tickets per household. That's like, okay, that's
- 29:49Speaker 1: not free then. If they're free tickets, but you have
- 29:53Speaker 1: to get them through Ticketmaster and you have to pay
- 29:55Speaker 1: a service charge, is that free tickets?
- 29:58Speaker 5: No.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Exactly. By letter of the law, no. I don't like that. Oh,
- 30:03Speaker 1: by the way, I was wrong. Kenny didn't drop that horse.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I was going to say, I didn't think so. I
- 30:07Speaker 1: read the text wrong yesterday. He said he cut one loose.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I took that to me. Oh, yeah. No, no. The
- 30:13Speaker 1: horse won, didn't it? I believe. Yeah, it did really well.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I was like, Why would Kenny McPeak get rid of that?
- 30:17Speaker 1: My bad, Kenny. Yeah. All right. Now, the other thing is,
- 30:22Speaker 1: and of course, they're trying to push for this one
- 30:25Speaker 1: particular thing. There will be a thousand tickets available for
- 30:30Speaker 1: the BBN United members. And if you sign up before
- 30:34Speaker 1: midnight tonight, you'll be a part of that draw and
- 30:37Speaker 1: you'll get a chance to win tickets. Also, there's going
- 30:41Speaker 1: to be so many people in that. You think so?
- 30:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Because the minimum membership is $ 19.
- 30:46Speaker 5: 99.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Let's just say $ 20 a month. I don't like the
- 30:51Speaker 1: whole come down here, you can buy this for $ 18.
- 30:53Speaker 5: 99.
- 30:54Speaker 1: It's like, well, it's $ 19 then. Do you ever look
- 30:57Speaker 1: at gas and think, oh, gas is down to $ 3.
- 31:01Speaker 3: 99?
- 31:01Speaker 1: No, it's not. It's down to $ 4. Yeah. Because it's $ 3. 99. Exactly.
- 31:08Speaker 1: It's like, that's not $ 3. That's $ 4. Yeah. That always
- 31:12Speaker 1: irritates me. But anyway, if you do sign up for
- 31:15Speaker 1: BBN United member, the United members, you can get, you'll
- 31:20Speaker 1: get two free tickets to the Vanderbilt game. That's kind
- 31:23Speaker 1: of a good deal right there. That is a good deal. Yeah.
- 31:25Speaker 1: So- For as low as $ 20, you can get that,
- 31:27Speaker 1: but I'm sorry. That's not free, UK. You should go
- 31:32Speaker 1: back to the old way and just let everybody get it.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Stop with the Ticketmaster stuff. Anyway, we've got to take
- 31:37Speaker 1: a break. When we come back, Corey Price is going
- 31:39Speaker 1: to be here. It'll be hour number two. Just a guess.
- 31:42Speaker 3: I'm a country boy.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I've got a four-wheel drive. If I'm in my bed,
- 31:47Speaker 1: I'll take you for a ride.
- 31:49Speaker 5: Up city streets, down country roads.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I can get you where you want to go.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Cause I'm a country boy. Welcome to Just the Cats
- 32:06Speaker 1: with Michael Bennett.
- 32:10Speaker 4: 502-384-1450.
- 32:10Speaker 1: You want to call 502-414-1450. You want to text on
- 32:15Speaker 1: the Whiskey Thief text line. Will from South Central said
- 32:18Speaker 1: Mike Elko was a defensive coordinator before taking the Duke job.
- 32:22Speaker 1: So he had been there seven years combined with as
- 32:26Speaker 1: DC and head coach. That's right. Okay. So there you go.
- 32:28Speaker 1: That's the seven years. One person said Michael. Did he
- 32:33Speaker 1: know Creole Williams? He lived down a dirt road, made
- 32:37Speaker 1: the best homemade wine like nobody I know. Scoots, you
- 32:40Speaker 1: may have to explain this to Michael. Yeah, he does.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Creole Williams lived down a dirt road. You don't know
- 32:48Speaker 1: that song? Never heard of it. Dust on a Bottle?
- 32:51Speaker 1: Great song. Who sings it? Oh, gosh. You would ask
- 32:54Speaker 1: me that. Well, if you... I'm going to ask you that.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Why wouldn't I ask you that?
- 33:00Speaker 5: Uh.
- 33:03Speaker 1: One person, let's see, 48 Hanley said, Irish people pronounce
- 33:06Speaker 1: horse harsh. Harsh. Harsh? I've got relatives that call him harsh.
- 33:13Speaker 1: David Lee Murphy, by the way. Never heard of him.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Is he famous? Yeah.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Really?
- 33:17Speaker 1: Is he still around? That's a great question. Okay. So
- 33:21Speaker 1: he's an older country. Or that's country, right? Yeah.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Okay.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Yeah, he's still with us. 67. Okay. Right in your wheelhouse. Ooh,
- 33:31Speaker 1: there we go. Okay, thank you. Let's say it's Tuesday
- 33:35Speaker 1: and you know what that means, don't you? I sure do.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Corey just can't get his microphone adjusted for him. It's
- 33:56Speaker 1: driving him nuts. Can I help you over here?
- 34:00Speaker 6: If this mic does this for the next four hours,
- 34:04Speaker 6: please contact a doctor.
- 34:06Speaker 1: This is crazy. All right. Is it better now? Or
- 34:10Speaker 1: is it still? Yeah. You got to tighten it up top. Yeah.
- 34:15Speaker 1: That's all right. For those on YouTube, you're getting a
- 34:18Speaker 1: great show. How's that? Well, the microphone clearly took his
- 34:23Speaker 1: ED medicine, so he's gone to game day men's health, okay?
- 34:27Speaker 1: Game day men's health, that's right. He was asked, Corey
- 34:29Speaker 1: came in here and says, did you go to the
- 34:31Speaker 1: sale yesterday? He's talking to me about horses. I was thoroughly, no,
- 34:36Speaker 1: I'm not making fun of you. Please don't take it
- 34:38Speaker 1: that way. I'm thoroughly impressed that you, first of all,
- 34:41Speaker 1: you knew the sale was going on and you asked
- 34:44Speaker 1: me if I had gone there yesterday. I said, I
- 34:46Speaker 1: hadn't gone there yesterday. I certainly watched it. But I,
- 34:50Speaker 1: you know, a gun runner, which is a sire, a
- 34:53Speaker 1: gun runner Colt, Went for $ 2. 9 million yesterday. Oh, that's it? Exactly.
- 35:00Speaker 1: That's chump change for a fee, right? Oh, my goodness. Yes, exactly.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Thank you for not teasing. If it's not my money,
- 35:05Speaker 1: I mean, it's not my age. It's my money y'all
- 35:07Speaker 1: tease me about. Thanks.
- 35:09Speaker 2: That's chump change for a- I'm very poor, by the way.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Who's the guy in New York I don't care for?
- 35:13Speaker 1: Mike Rapoli?
- 35:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Chump change for him. Oh, yeah, definitely. I mean- And
- 35:19Speaker 1: I'm still waiting for them to come out with another
- 35:22Speaker 1: of those Netflix documentaries, which was awesome. I can't believe it. Right?
- 35:26Speaker 1: I felt like everybody, even people that were not in
- 35:30Speaker 1: horse racing, Racing for the Crown is the name of it,
- 35:34Speaker 1: watched that and commented on it. And I thought they
- 35:37Speaker 1: were going to make another one. Or Race for the Crown,
- 35:40Speaker 1: isn't it? Yeah, Race for the Crown.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, season two hasn't even been announced. Oh, so
- 35:44Speaker 1: it is coming out, though. No, it hasn't been announced.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Like there's nothing in the works. That's a bummer. That
- 35:52Speaker 1: is one I really thought they would do on a
- 35:56Speaker 1: regular basis. Maybe every other year or something. That was
- 35:59Speaker 1: just fun and cool.
- 36:02Speaker 6: The only reason why I know it happened yesterday is
- 36:03Speaker 6: my friend posted a story about it on their Instagram.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Posted a story about what? Like them being there. Oh,
- 36:13Speaker 1: the Netflix? No, the horse sale or whatever. Oh, your
- 36:18Speaker 1: friends were at the Keeneland sale. If they didn't post it,
- 36:21Speaker 1: I would have zero clue that that happened yesterday. Oh, okay. Well, okay.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I was giving you a little more credit than you
- 36:27Speaker 1: actually deserve. But I thought that was nice of you
- 36:30Speaker 1: to ask. You did go to the sale yesterday. You
- 36:32Speaker 1: are a horse person. I'm a horse person. You like
- 36:36Speaker 1: to horse around, I'm sure.
- 36:38Speaker 5: Oh, boy.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I typically do that with my wife. These days,
- 36:42Speaker 1: she just slaps me and says, get away from me. Sorry. Okay.
- 36:47Speaker 1: It's great, I guess. I'm embarrassing Corey at this point.
- 36:51Speaker 1: You're not my son. I mean, you can react in
- 36:53Speaker 1: a different way, can't you? It's just, yeah. I mean, slapping,
- 36:57Speaker 1: that's something. Oh, my gosh. Slapping? You're not slapping anybody.
- 37:03Speaker 1: You literally just said that your wife slaps you. Well,
- 37:06Speaker 1: she does. Okay, so that's what's happening. She'd slap me
- 37:08Speaker 1: and say, get away. That's abuse. That's abuse. That's okay.
- 37:11Speaker 1: When she does it, I like it. Hashtag me. Okay.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I love uncomfortable Corey Price. Let's do some history with that. No,
- 37:22Speaker 1: I like this comment. Which MAAC team did we beat
- 37:24Speaker 1: before this week, Corey Price?
- 37:28Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Let's just you and I do the show together, Corey,
- 37:31Speaker 1: and leave out that other guy.
- 37:33Speaker 6: The program with the most losses in AFBS history gets
- 37:37Speaker 6: one title, and he just starts again.
- 37:40Speaker 1: It starts chirping.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Corey, now feels like the perfect time to remind you
- 37:43Speaker 2: the last undefeated basketball and football season belonged to my
- 37:46Speaker 2: Indiana Hoosiers.
- 37:48Speaker 1: No big deal. I don't think it's chirping. I just
- 37:51Speaker 1: think it's absolutely obnoxious. It's worse than chirping. Worse than
- 37:56Speaker 1: Vols fans, and that's saying something. Oh, yeah. That is
- 38:00Speaker 1: saying something right there because you and I both agree
- 38:02Speaker 1: about our affinity for Vol fans. Nothing sucks like a
- 38:05Speaker 1: big orange. That's exactly right. Love it. And scoots like
- 38:09Speaker 1: a scoots.
- 38:10Speaker 6: This week is September 13th through the 19th. September 13th, 1975. Oh, my.
- 38:18Speaker 5: U.K.
- 38:18Speaker 6: Football defeats Virginia Tech 27-8 at Commonwealth Stadium.
- 38:23Speaker 1: This is U.K.
- 38:23Speaker 6: 's fifth straight win against the Hokies in the last
- 38:26Speaker 6: seven seasons. I don't know about the– I mean, I'm
- 38:31Speaker 6: assuming the weather was bad.
- 38:32Speaker 1: I'm not sure. I didn't look.
- 38:33Speaker 6: But both teams combined the thumb of the ball 16 times.
- 38:37Speaker 4: What?
- 38:37Speaker 1: What? Now, they only lost six of those 16, but still.
- 38:42Speaker 1: That's still a fumble.
- 38:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:43Speaker 1: That's not good. That is.
- 38:45Speaker 6: Pretty crazy. One more crazy note. UK ran the ball
- 38:50Speaker 6: 74 times. Oh, that's boring football. Third most in a
- 38:53Speaker 6: single game in school history for 371 yards.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Was Fran Kersey the head coach? He was. That was
- 38:59Speaker 1: his third season. And he was supposed to be at
- 39:01Speaker 1: the game this past weekend. Oh, really? Yeah. Oscar Combs
- 39:05Speaker 1: put out a– Tweet saying that Fran Kersey attended the
- 39:08Speaker 1: UK-Alabama game Saturday.
- 39:10Speaker 6: I didn't see him, sadly. September 13th, 1993. I think
- 39:15Speaker 6: you'll like this one. The talk show Late Night with
- 39:17Speaker 6: Conan O'Brien airs its first episode on TV.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Yes!
- 39:21Speaker 1: Oh, Scoots, come on. I hate Conan. Greatest talk... Wait
- 39:24Speaker 1: a minute now! Conan's the best. He is the best.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Created by David Letterman, Lorne Michaels, and.
- 39:29Speaker 6: Conan O'Brien. Starred, of course, Conan O'Brien. With his sidekick,
- 39:33Speaker 6: Andy Richter. Announcer, Joel Goddard. And music by Max Weinberg
- 39:37Speaker 6: and the Max Weinberg Seven. The show aired a total
- 39:41Speaker 6: of 2,725 episodes over 16 seasons on NBC. If you're wondering,
- 39:46Speaker 6: the final show aired on February 20th, 2009. And the
- 39:50Speaker 6: show won the Writers Guild of America Award for Best
- 39:52Speaker 6: Comedy Variety Series six times.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Do you know who Max Weinberg is? Besides the drummer
- 39:59Speaker 1: for the E Street Band, right? Exactly. Bruce Springsteen. Very good.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Did you know that, Justin? God, no. Why would I?
- 40:10Speaker 6: I mean, the E Street Band is pretty popular. I
- 40:13Speaker 6: was going to say, yeah, they're really popular.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Never heard of them. You've never heard of the E
- 40:20Speaker 1: Street Band?
- 40:21Speaker 5: No.
- 40:22Speaker 1: That's Bruce Springsteen's band. Have you ever heard of Bruce Springsteen?
- 40:26Speaker 1: I have, but I don't give one iota about him. Wow.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Fair enough. I don't really care for his music either.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Hates Bruce Springsteen? Hates Colin O'Brien? Born in the U.S.A.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Hates UK? This guy's delusional. Yeah, we're done.
- 40:43Speaker 6: September 14th, 1985, the sitcom The Golden Girls airs its
- 40:47Speaker 6: first episode on TV.
- 40:49Speaker 5: No?
- 40:49Speaker 1: You're not a fan of the Golden Girls?
- 40:51Speaker 3: No.
- 40:51Speaker 1: I love Betty White, but no, that was not my show.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Good stuff. Created by Susan Harris. It starred... You actually
- 40:58Speaker 1: watched this show? Of course. It was funny. You watched
- 41:01Speaker 1: the Golden Girls? It was hilarious. Wow.
- 41:03Speaker 6: It starred Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, Rue McClanahan, and you
- 41:08Speaker 6: just mentioned Betty White.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Watch out there, Mike. Michael. Sorry, I said Mike. It's okay.
- 41:15Speaker 1: All right.
- 41:15Speaker 6: The show aired a total of 180 episodes over seven
- 41:17Speaker 6: seasons on NBC. And this is kind of cool trivia.
- 41:21Speaker 6: The show is one of four live action shows in
- 41:24Speaker 6: which all the principal actors have won at least one
- 41:26Speaker 6: Emmy Award.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Oh, that's cool. That is cool. The other three, All
- 41:29Speaker 1: in the Family. Oh, great show. Poop Creek. I love
- 41:34Speaker 1: Poop Creek. And Will and Grace. It was kind of
- 41:36Speaker 1: sad last night. I don't know if you saw it
- 41:38Speaker 1: or not. They had the award show. What award show
- 41:41Speaker 1: was that? It was the Emmys, actually. It was the Emmys.
- 41:44Speaker 1: And they were celebrating Catherine O'Hara.
- 41:46Speaker 5: Yep.
- 41:47Speaker 1: And they had the other three characters up there, Eugene
- 41:50Speaker 1: and Dan Levy, and I can't remember the— And Macaulay Culkin, too. Oh, really? Yep.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Isn't that— because he considered Catherine O'Hara very much like a
- 42:00Speaker 1: mom to him, which is so sad. It is sad.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Scooch will love this one.
- 42:07Speaker 6: September 14, 2002, UK football defeats Indiana 27-17 at Collins Stadium.
- 42:13Speaker 1: I like that score. Ain't your father's Indiana.
- 42:16Speaker 4: Oh, boy.
- 42:17Speaker 6: This is UK's seventh win in the last eight meetings
- 42:20Speaker 6: against the Hoosiers.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Only the seventh? Oh, really? Out of eight? Yeah. This
- 42:25Speaker 1: is crazy. This blew my mind.
- 42:29Speaker 6: The Hoosiers were penalized five times, which is not bad,
- 42:33Speaker 6: for 109 yards.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Wow.
- 42:35Speaker 1: That's almost 22 yards per penalty. That's pretty crazy. I'm
- 42:38Speaker 1: not sure how that would seem possible, but okay. All right.
- 42:43Speaker 6: R2' s pinner led the Wildcats on offense with 233 yards
- 42:46Speaker 6: from scrimmage. That's a name from the past. R2' s pinner.
- 42:50Speaker 6: 141 rushing and 92 receiving. I can still hear the
- 42:53Speaker 6: crowd going, two out there for R2. I don't know
- 42:56Speaker 6: how you can average 22 yards per penalty. Isn't, like,
- 42:59Speaker 6: 15 the longest penalty?
- 43:00Speaker 1: Yeah, because the spot of the foul is in the NFL. Yeah,
- 43:05Speaker 1: but maybe the rules were different then.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Maybe. Maybe.
- 43:09Speaker 6: September 15th, 1982, the daily newspaper USA Today has its
- 43:14Speaker 6: first ever issue.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Interesting. Did you ever read the newspaper? Absolutely.
- 43:17Speaker 6: Very much so. I still get on their website and
- 43:20Speaker 6: read it. Founded by Al Newhart. It was initially released
- 43:28Speaker 6: only in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. for 25 cents, which
- 43:31Speaker 6: today would be about 87 cents.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Wow.
- 43:33Speaker 6: Do you want to guess the newspaper's highest selling single
- 43:38Speaker 6: day ever?
- 43:41Speaker 1: What the event was? I mean, if you think about
- 43:47Speaker 1: an event, the day after it will be in the paper. 9-11?
- 43:52Speaker 1: September 12, 2001. You're right.
- 43:54Speaker 6: Approximately 3.6 million papers were sold that day.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Wow. I was going to say O.J. Simpson, but then
- 44:02Speaker 1: I thought, no, we just celebrated 9-11, the 25th year.
- 44:04Speaker 1: September 15, 2007? U.K.
- 44:11Speaker 6: Football defeats No. 9 Louisville 40-34 at Commonwealth Stadium.
- 44:14Speaker 1: This is U.K.
- 44:16Speaker 6: 's first win against Louisville since 2002. And their first
- 44:19Speaker 6: win against an AP poll top 10 opponent since 1977
- 44:22Speaker 6: at No.
- 44:22Speaker 1: 4 Penn State. U.K.
- 44:25Speaker 6: Scored the game-winning touchdown on a 57-yard pass from Andre
- 44:28Speaker 6: Whitson to Stevie Johnson with 28 seconds left.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Stevie got loose. Stevie got loose, that's right.
- 44:33Speaker 6: And Ruffey Little led the Wildcats on offense with 162
- 44:36Speaker 6: yards from scrimmage, 151 rushing, and 11 receiving.
- 44:41Speaker 1: That's a great game. My senior year, so I enjoyed it.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Senior year of college?
- 44:47Speaker 5: Yep.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Really? Okay. I rushed the other field. So did I.
- 44:51Speaker 1: We were down there. We crossed paths. Yeah. I didn't
- 44:55Speaker 1: slap you, though. Sorry. September 16, 1984, the crime drama
- 44:59Speaker 1: series Miami Vice. It was his first episode on TV.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Were you big? Oh, John.
- 45:06Speaker 6: In fact, it's funny you say that. Did you dress
- 45:08Speaker 6: like Don Johnson? No, I did not dress like John.
- 45:11Speaker 6: Or Philip Michael Thomas? No, not at all.
- 45:14Speaker 1: But I did watch that, and I still watch that show.
- 45:17Speaker 1: That's good. Yeah.
- 45:18Speaker 6: Created by Anthony Yurkovich. Starred Olivia Brown, Don Johnson, Edward
- 45:25Speaker 6: James Olmos, Sandra Santiago, Michael Talbot, and Philip Michael Thomas.
- 45:33Speaker 6: Show aired a total of 114 episodes over five seasons
- 45:36Speaker 6: on NBC. The show won four Emmy Awards, including Outstanding
- 45:41Speaker 6: Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Edward James Olmos
- 45:44Speaker 6: in 1985.
- 45:45Speaker 1: The coolest thing about that show is when they're driving
- 45:49Speaker 1: those cars and they would have Phil Collins playing in
- 45:52Speaker 1: the background. In the air tonight? Yes, exactly. I mean,
- 45:55Speaker 1: there are just a number of songs besides that one.
- 45:58Speaker 1: There were other ones as well. Glenn Frey of the
- 46:00Speaker 1: Eagles was in that show. I mean, oh, yeah. We
- 46:03Speaker 1: belong to the city or something yet? That might be it.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Very good. I know my age music. Yeah, you clearly do. Well,
- 46:12Speaker 1: here's the funny part. Literally over the weekend, I think
- 46:16Speaker 1: it was Sunday, I was eating my lunch, and I said,
- 46:18Speaker 1: I'm going to watch an episode of Miami Vice. Sorry.
- 46:21Speaker 6: I know it's cheesy, but I like Miami Vice. Scooch,
- 46:25Speaker 6: we'll like this one again. So September 16, 2000, you
- 46:27Speaker 6: get football defeats. Indiana 41-34 at Commonwealth Stadium.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Wow, you allowed us to score 34?
- 46:34Speaker 6: This is UK's sixth straight win against the Hoosiers. Longest
- 46:39Speaker 6: win streak against IU in school history, second scoots. UK
- 46:43Speaker 6: outscored IU 34-14 after trailing the Hoosiers 20-7 in the
- 46:47Speaker 6: second quarter. Scored the game-winning touchdown on a 21-yard fumble
- 46:51Speaker 6: return by Matt Leo with a minute 57 left in
- 46:53Speaker 6: the game. And Derek Smith led the Wildcats on offense
- 46:57Speaker 6: with seven receptions for 93 yards and one touchdown.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Go, Derek. Derek Smith.
- 47:03Speaker 6: September 17, 1972, the war comedy drama series M.A.S.H. has
- 47:08Speaker 6: its first episode on TV. I'm sure you're a big M.A.S.H.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Guy. Oh, I love the TV version. Yeah, yeah. Yeah,
- 47:14Speaker 1: not the movie version. This is the show, yeah. Yeah,
- 47:17Speaker 1: I loved that. In fact, I'll still watch that every
- 47:20Speaker 1: now and then. Great show.
- 47:22Speaker 6: Developed by Larry Gelbart, starred Alan Alda, Gary Berghoff, William Christopher,
- 47:29Speaker 6: Jamie Farr, Mike Farrell, Larry Linville, Harry Morgan, David Ochten's Stiers,
- 47:36Speaker 6: and Loretta Swit. The show aired a total of 256 episodes,
- 47:41Speaker 6: over 11 seasons on CBS. And in 2023, Variety Magazine
- 47:47Speaker 6: ranked the show number 24 on its list of the
- 47:50Speaker 6: 100 greatest TV.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Shows of all time. Did y'all ever watch that show?
- 47:53Speaker 3: No.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I've seen bits and pieces, but not a full episode. Okay,
- 47:56Speaker 1: fair enough. Yeah, it was a big deal when their
- 47:58Speaker 1: last episode came on. It might still be the most
- 48:01Speaker 1: watched show ever. Was it really? Maybe. It might be
- 48:03Speaker 1: number two now. I don't know. I was thinking Cheers was.
- 48:07Speaker 1: It's close. Okay.
- 48:10Speaker 6: September 17, 2016, UK football defeats New Mexico State 62-42
- 48:12Speaker 6: at Kroger Field. So UK's first ever game played against
- 48:20Speaker 6: New Mexico State.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I'm surprised somebody didn't speak up. No, it was a
- 48:23Speaker 1: respectable one. I thought about it, but it was respectable.
- 48:28Speaker 6: Teams combined to score 104 points, which is a Krogerfield
- 48:31Speaker 6: record for a non-overtime game.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Commonwealth Stadium. That's correct.
- 48:37Speaker 6: UK had 692 yards of total offense, third most in
- 48:40Speaker 6: a single game in school history. And UK had three
- 48:43Speaker 6: players with at least 130 yards from scrimmage.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Good gosh. Boom Williams, 181. Benny Snell Jr., 136. And C.J. Conrad, 133.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Holy cow.
- 48:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:54Speaker 6: So September 18th, 1987, the thriller film Fatal Attraction is released.
- 49:01Speaker 6: I don't know what that sound was, Michael, but okay.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Oh, man. He did sound again. That was an uncomfortable
- 49:08Speaker 1: movie to watch. I'm getting squeamish by his sounds right now. Yes.
- 49:11Speaker 1: I don't blame you. I'm squeamish as well at my sounds.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Directed by.
- 49:15Speaker 6: Adrian Lyne starred Ann Archer, Glenn Close, Michael Douglas. Ellen Foley,
- 49:22Speaker 6: Fred Gwynn, and Stuart Pankin. The film grossed approximately $ 156. 6
- 49:28Speaker 6: million domestically, making it the second highest grossing film of 1987.
- 49:32Speaker 6: In 2001, the American Film Institute ranked the movie number
- 49:37Speaker 6: 28 On this list of the top 100 most exciting
- 49:41Speaker 6: movies in American cinema history.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Somebody's had a little too much to drink this morning.
- 49:47Speaker 5: Right?
- 49:48Speaker 1: Exactly. Just water.
- 49:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:50Speaker 6: Scoots, one more for you. All right. September 18, 2004.
- 49:54Speaker 6: My first home game as a student, actually. UK football
- 49:58Speaker 6: defeats Indiana 51-32 at Commonwealth Stadium.
- 50:03Speaker 1: I'm enjoying this list.
- 50:05Speaker 2: I hope you are because it's never going to be
- 50:07Speaker 2: happening again. You will never be able to say that
- 50:10Speaker 2: Kentucky beat Indiana ever again.
- 50:13Speaker 6: So, UK's ninth win in the last ten meetings against
- 50:15Speaker 6: the Hoosiers. The teams combined to score 68 points in
- 50:19Speaker 6: the second and third quarters. And in the second and
- 50:22Speaker 6: third quarters, UKL scored the Hoosiers 45-23. There were nine
- 50:26Speaker 6: touchdowns and one field goal.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Wow. In two quarters, yeah. Oh, my God.
- 50:32Speaker 6: Shane Boyd led the Wildcats on offense with 335 yards
- 50:34Speaker 6: of total offense, 205 passing, 130 rushing, and four total touchdowns,
- 50:39Speaker 6: two passing and two rushing.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I love hearing these names that you never hear of anymore. Yeah,
- 50:44Speaker 1: Shane Boyd, our two-spinner. I mean, it's just those are
- 50:47Speaker 1: names that were– I just loved those guys back in
- 50:50Speaker 1: the day.
- 50:51Speaker 6: I was actually late to that first home game for
- 50:55Speaker 6: me as a student because I guess I underestimated the traffic.
- 50:59Speaker 1: Oh, did you really? You were not living on campus?
- 51:02Speaker 1: I was, but I went home briefly and then came back. Okay.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Did you ever get homesick when you first went to UK?
- 51:09Speaker 1: Freshman year, a little bit, but sophomore year through senior year,
- 51:13Speaker 1: not really. Not a bit, yeah.
- 51:16Speaker 6: So September 19th, 1970, UK football defeats number 13, Kansas State,
- 51:21Speaker 6: 16-3 at Stouffield.
- 51:22Speaker 1: There you go. Yeah. There's a good one. I try.
- 51:25Speaker 6: So UK's second ever meeting against the Wildcats. The first
- 51:28Speaker 6: one was played in 1961. It's a fun fact. Even
- 51:32Speaker 6: in the win, UK had more punts, 13, than first downs, 8.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Whoa.
- 51:38Speaker 6: 13 punts, 8 first downs, and they still beat the
- 51:40Speaker 6: Wildcats 6-3.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Wow. I'll tell you why. Okay.
- 51:44Speaker 6: UK set a school and SEC record by holding Kansas
- 51:47Speaker 6: State to negative 93 yards rushing.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. How's that possible? That's not a typo.
- 51:54Speaker 1: Negative 93 yards rushing. Has that ever happened before or again?
- 51:59Speaker 1: Not in the SEC, no. Yeah. Maybe naturally. Who knows? Great.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Last one.
- 52:06Speaker 6: September 19th, 1990. The gangster film Goodfellas is really good.
- 52:12Speaker 1: I love Goodfellas. Yes. I can't tell you. It's an
- 52:15Speaker 1: obscene amount of times I've watched that movie. It's the best. Oh, absolutely.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Directed by Martin Scorsese. Stars Lorraine, is it Bracco or Bracco?
- 52:27Speaker 1: I have no idea. I think it's Bracco. Bracco.
- 52:29Speaker 6: Tony Adaro, Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Frank Severo,
- 52:35Speaker 6: Paul Sorvino, Mike Starr, and Frank Vincent. The film grossed
- 52:40Speaker 6: approximately $ 46. 9 million domestically, making it the 26th highest-grossing film
- 52:45Speaker 6: of 1990. In 2007, the American Film Institute ranked the
- 52:50Speaker 6: movie number 92 on its list of the top 100
- 52:53Speaker 6: movies in American cinema history.
- 52:56Speaker 1: And you know Martin Scorsese's mom is in that movie.
- 52:59Speaker 1: I think at least two or three people in his
- 53:01Speaker 1: family are in it. Oh, two or three? I didn't
- 53:02Speaker 1: realize that. Like brief cameos, yeah. Okay, yeah. His mom
- 53:05Speaker 1: played Joe Pesci's mom in it. I think there's two
- 53:10Speaker 1: things that stick out to me. When they're all in
- 53:12Speaker 1: the kitchen there and they had to come get a
- 53:18Speaker 1: knife because he hit a deer with his car. And
- 53:23Speaker 1: they're eating spaghetti and the mom gives them ketchup to
- 53:27Speaker 1: put on top of the spaghetti. And I thought, that's
- 53:30Speaker 1: so gross. The best scene is Pesci and Ray, and
- 53:34Speaker 1: they're sitting down. Oh, yes.
- 53:35Speaker 6: Pesci keeps telling them, I ask them, like, what's so funny?
- 53:39Speaker 6: What about me is funny?
- 53:41Speaker 1: Yeah. That's hilarious. And for some reason, when they're in prison, and,
- 53:44Speaker 1: you know, they're all fixing the different parts of the meal.
- 53:47Speaker 1: Of course, they're getting anything they want in prison. And
- 53:49Speaker 1: the one older guy, the older gangster, is cutting the
- 53:53Speaker 1: garlic as thin as he could that it would disintegrate
- 53:57Speaker 1: in the pan when they fried it. It's like, okay. Anyway,
- 54:00Speaker 1: that gets me... Yeah.
- 54:02Speaker 6: And I didn't add this because I literally just saw
- 54:04Speaker 6: this morning on Twitter. The Huey Lewis and the News album, Sports,
- 54:09Speaker 6: came out 43.
- 54:11Speaker 1: Years ago today. Huey Lewis and the News? Their album, Sports. Wow.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Does that have the song on it that we played,
- 54:21Speaker 1: your intro? I don't know. I think they came out
- 54:25Speaker 1: in 85. It did? Yeah. But I mean.
- 54:29Speaker 1: That band is my favorite from the 80s. And then
- 54:32Speaker 1: the album named Sports. I mean, come on. Really? Okay. Yeah,
- 54:35Speaker 1: I'm a Depeche Mode fan. That would be my favorite
- 54:37Speaker 1: band from the 80s. It's not bad. I love Depeche Mode.
- 54:39Speaker 1: It's not Hewlett's News, but it's not bad. Oh, there
- 54:42Speaker 1: we go. I do like People Are People song. People
- 54:46Speaker 1: Are People? That's a good one. I like that one. Yeah.
- 54:50Speaker 1: It's got a nice message to it. I always like
- 54:54Speaker 1: Personal Religion. Or Personal Jesus. Yeah.
- 54:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:58Speaker 1: Yeah. That was always one of my favorites, but yeah.
- 55:00Speaker 1: And then I go deep tracks. I like deep tracks
- 55:02Speaker 1: more than I like the popular. I don't know any
- 55:04Speaker 1: Depeche mode. That's okay. Unfortunately. That's okay. But, uh, between
- 55:08Speaker 1: them and tears for fears, but, uh, anyway, everybody wants
- 55:11Speaker 1: to rule the world. That's a great one right there.
- 55:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Shout was one of my favorites. I, yeah, exactly. Uh, but, uh,
- 55:17Speaker 1: all right, let's talk about the game this weekend. UK
- 55:19Speaker 1: is headed down to Texas a and M, uh, how
- 55:23Speaker 1: you feel? Yeah.
- 55:25Speaker 6: You answered the question right there. Um, If it's anything
- 55:29Speaker 6: like the second half on Saturday, it's going to be
- 55:31Speaker 6: a long game. Yeah, depth is clearly the problem, isn't it?
- 55:35Speaker 6: And Cal Field is a tough place to play. I
- 55:38Speaker 6: was there in 2018.
- 55:39Speaker 1: So was I. That was fun. That was the close
- 55:41Speaker 1: one lost in overtime. We were talking a little earlier
- 55:47Speaker 1: about the best away venues in the SEC. I said
- 55:51Speaker 1: Cal Field, Texas A & M, Ole Miss, and Louisiana, LSU.
- 55:58Speaker 1: What are yours?
- 55:59Speaker 6: Fortunately, I haven't been to LSU yet, but I'll be
- 56:02Speaker 6: there in the next, I think, two years. I mean,
- 56:05Speaker 6: it's hard to top Kyle Field. I mean, one, it
- 56:08Speaker 6: might be the biggest. If not, it might be second.
- 56:11Speaker 1: No, we already talked about that. It's the biggest in
- 56:12Speaker 1: the SEC.
- 56:13Speaker 6: And, I mean, it's weird, but, like, their fans, I mean,
- 56:20Speaker 6: they're almost all in sync with their cheers and stuff,
- 56:23Speaker 6: so it gets crazy loud.
- 56:25Speaker 1: Yeah. And that's probably it. Yeah. Okay. Fair enough. All right, then. Well,
- 56:31Speaker 1: enjoy the rest of the week, Corey. I will. I
- 56:35Speaker 1: know Scooch will. Yeah.
- 56:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:37Speaker 1: He's all dark today. I was like, are you mourning somebody?
- 56:40Speaker 1: He's got a dark shirt on, dark pants on. It's like,
- 56:43Speaker 1: are we okay? Are you judging what I'm wearing? Not you.
- 56:46Speaker 1: I'm talking to Corey. It's the blue shirt and black pants. Okay. Well,
- 56:51Speaker 1: maybe blue. It's just like, okay. It's blue. You're still
- 56:54Speaker 1: mourning the loss is what I think. That's exactly what
- 56:56Speaker 1: it is. Okay, good. I don't blame you. We should be.
- 56:58Speaker 1: But anyway, Corey, always having fun having you. Always having
- 57:01Speaker 1: fun with you.
- 57:02Speaker 4: What?
- 57:03Speaker 1: I know. Who knows what I just said. Will you
- 57:04Speaker 1: be here next Tuesday? I will be. Why are you
- 57:06Speaker 1: asking me? I'm here. I'm saying I never know the
- 57:10Speaker 1: next week. I'll be here next Tuesday.
- 57:12Speaker 6: Go to Florida or New York or California or Maryland.
- 57:14Speaker 1: I know. I know. I do have to go to
- 57:16Speaker 1: Maryland next week. I forgot to tell this guy.
- 57:18Speaker 5: Mr.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Horseman. Yeah. Yeah. But anyway. All right, Corey. We'll see
- 57:21Speaker 1: you next Tuesday, all right? Good luck this weekend with
- 57:23Speaker 1: the game. I know you'll be pacing around everywhere like
- 57:26Speaker 1: I am. I will. Yeah, anyway. All right, that's Corey Price, everybody. Yeah, absolutely.
- 57:32Speaker 1: He's not going to the weight game. There we go.
- 57:34Speaker 1: I love it. We'll be right back. Stay right there.
- 57:36Speaker 1: More of Just the Cats coming right up.
- 57:46Speaker 7: I wish high school home teams never lost And back
- 57:51Speaker 7: road drinking kids never got caught And I wish the
- 57:54Speaker 7: price of gas was low and cotton was high I
- 58:00Speaker 7: wish honky tonks didn't have no closing time And I
- 58:08Speaker 7: wish grandpas never died.
- 58:22Speaker 5: Don't worry about the damage done Just let those words
- 58:27Speaker 5: roll off your tongue.
- 58:31Speaker 4: Even if you're lying If you really don't mean it,
- 58:37Speaker 4: I don't care If you need a little buzz to
- 58:40Speaker 4: get you.
- 58:41Speaker 3: There Then baby, I'm buying couldn't you say you do
- 58:51Speaker 3: say you might for tonight have a heart and the
- 58:56Speaker 3: truth even if you don't couldn't you mess me up
- 59:02Speaker 3: get in my head steal my t-shirt wreck my bed
- 59:07Speaker 3: all night long you.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Used You know, I met this guy. Okay. I did.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I didn't know who he was. He put on probably
- 59:23Speaker 1: the best concert I've ever been. So I've got some
- 59:28Speaker 1: close friends down in Nashville. that own a liquor store.
- 59:31Speaker 1: It's called Bud's down in Nashville. Are you sure it's
- 59:35Speaker 1: a liquor store? Yeah, I'm positive. It's called Bud's? Yeah,
- 59:39Speaker 1: it's called Bud's Liquor. It's a very well-known liquor store
- 59:44Speaker 1: in Nashville. I go down there, and I'm visiting with them.
- 59:49Speaker 1: All of a sudden, there's this guy in the back,
- 59:52Speaker 1: and he's representing a bourbon. And I go back there
- 59:55Speaker 1: and start talking to him. Hey, this is pretty cool.
- 59:58Speaker 1: And lo and behold, it's his bourbon. And I'm like, oh,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: that's awesome. How did you get your name on the bottle?
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: How did all this transpire? And my son looks at
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: me and says, dad, he's a singer. And he's like, dude,
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: don't worry about it. I said, I'm sorry. I don't
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: listen to much country. And he could not have been
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: any nicer. So he got to know my friends and said,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: do you mind if I– he didn't want to advertise
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: that he was coming there to– display his bourbon and
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: make a big scene because is he popular oh yeah
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: he is okay i know now who he is dirks
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: bentley and i mean he was just kind of a
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: genuine guy back there trying to rip his bourbon i
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: thought that was pretty cool and i'm asking him how
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: do i get my name on a bourbon bottle and
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: my son's like yeah you gotta write some hit songs
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: dad yeah he's had a bunch of them Has he really? Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: I'm here to tell you, for a guy that's never
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: known him, I would go listen to his stuff. I
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: like that song, but he was a genius. That's one
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: of his worst ones. Oh, it is? Yeah. There's better ones? Oh,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: there's way more upbeat ones that are far better than that. Really? Okay, well,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: I got to go listen to him. Yeah, he remembers
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: me because I didn't know who he was. Matter of fact,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: I'm going to pivot and play one on the way out. Oh,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: are you really?
- 1:01:13Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Okay. All right, then. I'm okay with that. Did you
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: watch the Seahawks versus Patriots game last night? I'm sorry,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: that was last Wednesday. Yeah, I know. Broncos-Chiefs is what
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I meant. I did, yes. And thoughts on the game?
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: Did you think it was worth watching? It's a terrible game.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, as it went on, it wasn't the greatest,
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: but I thought the way it started, you got those
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: two quick scores. I thought we were in for a
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: banger of a game.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I did too. And then the Chiefs pulled away,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: and I was like, I'm going to bed. Well, yeah.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: It just, I don't know. It never felt like it
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: was much of a game. You know, you had that
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: one situation where you know who goes for, Kelsey goes
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: for a long catch and run. And what do they do?
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: They go straight to you know who, his now wife.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: He could say their names. Okay. What's her name? Tay-Tay. Yeah.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Taylor Swift. Thank you. And who's she sitting with? Tom Cruise.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: Tom Cruise, yeah. It's like, what's going on here? So
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: it's just like, okay, do we have to? If one
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: of the running backs has a long run and makes
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: a touchdown, are we going to his wife? If she's
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: not famous, then no. Okay, whatever. It's exhausting. But I
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: will say, I thought one of the funniest parts of
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: the broadcast was Of course, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman,
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: who I think do a great job. A lot of
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: people criticize Joe Buck. I like Joe Buck, and I
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: think he and Troy Aikman do a nice job together.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: They work as a great team. Buck's a Hoosier. Is
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: he really? Yeah. I didn't know that. See, I always
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: associate him with St. Louis. Nope, he's an Indiana grad. Well,
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: good for him. But at the end of the first quarter,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: you know the mic went out. And then at the
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: start of the second quarter. Yeah, that was weird. They
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: go back. And I thought it was funny to hear
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Joe Buck say, we start the second quarter. We lost
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: audio at the end of the first quarter. The reviews
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: are in. Buck and Aikman have never sounded better. I
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: missed that. I thought it was odd. And Aikman comes
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: in there and says, there's a lot of people shaking
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: their heads yes right now. It's pretty good. And see,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: that's the reason why when something like that happens, you
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: roll with the punches and make a joke out of it.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: And it goes back to the whole situation. I'm sorry, Justin.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: But it goes back to the whole situation with Sarkeesian
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: and Holly Rowe. If she had simply acted a completely
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: different way, she had the opportunity to make a negative
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: into a positive. And she chose negative. and to make
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: it about herself. That's what I didn't like. I mean,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: I don't disagree with you with that. Yeah. Yeah. So that's,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: that's all I was trying to say in the other day. Now, uh, uh,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Arch Manning, did you see him in the press conference
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: yesterday at the university of Texas? Missed that. Okay. Lot
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: of people are criticizing him. A lot of people are
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: supporting him. So, uh, at the beginning of the, I
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: don't know if it's the beginning or the ending, but, uh,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Archie Manning, uh, the media was asking him about what
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: did he think about some of the AI stuff that
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: came up. He said, oh, it was hilarious. Did you
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: see the one with Sarkeesian coach hitting her and she's
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: falling to the ground? I thought that was hilarious. He
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: said that? Yes. I was rather surprised by it, but
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: come on, man. The dude's what, 21, 22 years old?
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: It's funny. He just wanted to laugh about it. Yeah,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: but maybe don't address that in a press conference. Okay.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: Probably not.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: I mean, if you want to make that joke with
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: your teammates and whatnot, I'm good with that. But press
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: conference may cross. He was joking with the media.
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: And it's a shame that you cannot laugh about this. Listen,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: if Sarkeesian had hit me and I fall to the ground,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I would probably be laughing about it as well. After
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: the fact. It's a joke. Yes. You wouldn't laugh during. Oh, no, no, no.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: It's an AI video. So none of it really happened.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I guess.
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: OK, so no, no. Sarkeesian didn't really hit her. No,
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I know that. OK, well, my goodness. No, I would
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: be laughing during and after the fact. I mean, it
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: would be funny to me. It's just a joke. And
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: we all want it. Well, it's a it's a woman
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: media member. It's like, so what? If it was a
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: man media member, I would be laughing just as much, too.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: There's no place for violence, Michael Bennett. Okay. All right. Jeez, man.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: We can't joke about it. See, that's the problem. We
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: can't joke about anything anymore. We can't.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: No.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: And I think it's really sad that we can't laugh
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: at ourselves anymore. But anyway, I just wanted to talk
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: about that. But, yeah, the game last night was really boring. And, yeah,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: I thought there was a couple of funny moments, and
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: that was one of them. Are you a Manning broadcast
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: guy or no? Don't you normally watch that? Oh, I
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: love them. You didn't watch it last night? No, I didn't.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: I feel like the whole Eli and Peyton broadcast has
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: kind of run its course. Yeah, agreed. And I really,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: to me it depends. I don't know who the guest
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: was on last night. It depends on who the guests are.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: If it's pretty good guests, then I will watch. Like
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: when Bill Murray came on, that was must watch for me.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: But anybody else, I'm just like, yeah, it's kind of
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: run its course. I wanted to listen to Troy Buck. And, well,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. They had John Elway. Yeah.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Kate Hudson. Yeah. And Mike McDonald. Yeah. Okay. That's an
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: okay one. That does nothing for me. Yeah, I get it.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: It doesn't do anything for me either. So, no, I
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: didn't watch it. I haven't watched it this year yet. But,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: you know, I mentioned a couple of minutes ago by accident,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: but the Seahawks versus Patriots last Wednesday for the season opener. Opener.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: was the lowest NFL opener since 2022. Guarantee it. 25
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: million viewers on NBC. It was down 11% from last year.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: I mean, there's just nothing sexy about that game at all.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: But it's a Super Bowl rematch. Why is it not sexy? Yeah,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: because I don't even think people really were all that
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: excited about those two in the Super Bowl. I would
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: agree with that. I think you're right about that. I
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: think we're all kind of been there, done that with
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: the Patriots, and nobody really cares about the Seahawks. I
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: don't know. Those teams are just boring teams. But was
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: part of the other problem is that the starting quarterback,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: Sam Darnall, went down quickly and then was like, well,
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: why don't I watch this when it's not really their
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: first team out there? I kind of blamed it on
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: that a little bit. I'm sure I maybe had something
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: to do with it, but not numbers that high. I
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Who does America really want to watch when it comes
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: to the NFL? They just want exciting teams. Like Thursday night,
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: we get Bills and Lions. That game's going to freaking
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: be awesome. That is going to be a great game.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Like that will draw great numbers because it's two exciting
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: teams with up-tempo offenses. There's going to be a bunch
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: of points on the board. Whereas with the Seahawks and
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: Patriots matchup, you knew it was going to be lower scoring.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: You weren't going to get a whole lot of points.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: I just think people want to see scoring. Well, are
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: we going to get a lot more Bills games in Louisville,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Kentucky Cause there's so many UK players, former UK players
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: on the bills. Maybe.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: No.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Are you kidding? Oh, it's all about you. Well, nevermind.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Don't get me started on that. I got yourself. I
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: did get myself started on that. All right, we got
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: to take our last break. When we come back, I
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: got to talk about this Australian athlete that won a
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: race and people are losing their minds over it. She
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: should have been disqualified. You'll hear why as soon as
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: we come back. I'm a little bit steady.
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: Little bit flesh and bone little foul little.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: Don't know where I am I'm a little bit holy
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: water but still a little bit burning.
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: Burning Gonna put the world away for a minute Pretend
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: I don't live in.
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: It Sunshine gonna wash my blues away Had sweet love,
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: but I lost it. She got too close, so I
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: fought it. Now I'm lost in the world trying to
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: find me a better way.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: There's not another song out there that'll make you happy
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: like this one right now. I mean, other than every
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: other Zac Brown song. Okay, well, you're that way because
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: you like Zac Brown so much. I mean, what is
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: your favorite Zac Brown song? This would be up there.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Would it really? Yeah, this would probably be in the
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: top five. I do enjoy that right there. That's really hard, though,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: asking me to pick my favorite Zac Brown song. Oh,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I can pick my favorite Jimmy Buffett song in just
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: a second. I mean, there's just so many.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: Probably my favorite Zac Brown song.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: God, what's the name of it? It's so much your favorite,
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: you don't even know the name of it.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: It's talking about how he steals his grandpa's car or
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: his dad's car and he wrecks it through the fence.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Oh, it's so entertaining. Okay, good. I'll figure out the name.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: All right, then. 48 Hanley said, met the late Par
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: Servino during Derby week while working the door at a
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: local hotel. He was also an accomplished singer. There you go.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: That's pretty cool. Josh texted out, find someone as passionate
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: about loving you as Michael Bennett is about hating Taylor
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Kelsey Swift. I don't hate her. It just seems like it. No,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: it's not that I don't dislike her. I just, it's
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: exhausting to me. I get so much fatigue every time
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: the NFL feels like they are the whatever networks broadcasting
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: the show has to show her. It's just like, you
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: don't do the other family members that way. I mean,
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: why do we do this? I mean, come on, man.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: I just want to sit here and watch the football
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: game and not be all of a sudden, oh, we
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: got to go see Taylor Swift. I mean, it's just like,
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: come on, man. By the way, Fun Havin' Fun is
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: the song I was thinking of. Fun Havin' Fun. That's
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: a great song. How could you forget that song?
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Very catchy.
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: I mean, probably the song that you would probably name
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: would be Forget About Forgettin'. I mean, that's because you
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: couldn't name the song. You forgot it. That's true. High
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Rocks Race. You ever heard of this?
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: No.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: It's the Global Endurance Race. And what they're doing now
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: is they are revising its protocols after, are you ready
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: for this?
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Their Australian athlete pooped herself during the race and was
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: allowed to continue during the competition in Beijing last Saturday.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: They said it was running down her leg.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: What?
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: And she still competed. And she still competed. That's disgusting.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: That's exactly, and all the other athletes, like, listen, we
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: don't know what kind of diseases we could have caught
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: with her doing this. It is pretty gross. I thought
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: it was funny. No, it's pretty gross. That's, yeah, I
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: know it's disgusting, but I don't think, if I went
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: to the bathroom all by myself, I can't continue what
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: I'm doing. Oh, no, absolutely not. And yet this person,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: this athlete, continued to do the race, not just walk
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: around and do nothing, but she was doing this race.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: I mean, she had to have known she did this,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: didn't she? I just could not continue. I couldn't. I'd
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: be so embarrassed that I'd have to call it a day. Yeah. Well,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: that's the other part. Yeah, it's going down your leg.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: I'm mortified. Mori did handle. He says, next topic. that's
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: perfect comeback right there uh but yeah yeah there you
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: go all right I'll go into that I just thought
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: it was funny I thought it was gross I thought
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: it was a little combination of everything uh outside of
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: UK playing Texas A & M this weekend I have
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: to say I'm really looking forward to the LSU at
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Ole Miss game yeah that's gonna be awesome is anybody
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: gonna throw a golf ball at Lane Kiffin Do you
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: remember that? No. Oh, you don't remember the Tennessee fan
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: when he went back to Knoxville, threw a golf ball
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: at him, and it literally almost hit him. Now, that
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: could have been a dangerous situation. But you can kind
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: of laugh about it now, but it's kind of sad.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: He picked it up and showed it to the officials.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: I'm worried about this because this could be a situation
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: where some irate, idiotic fan does something bad. I hope
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: that doesn't happen. I hope Ole Miss keeps their composure
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: because I get it. I know why you're upset at
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin. It's in Oxford, right? It's in Oxford, exactly.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: So LSU is going to Oxford for the game this weekend.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: I just hope they don't do something. Boo them all
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: you want. Say whatever you want. Oh, they'll get booed. Yeah.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Just don't do anything else to the poor guy, okay?
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: I know why you're upset, but it's time. I mean,
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: it'll take a little while for them to overcome this.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: And I get that. It won't take very long if
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: you get a win. Exactly. Well, I don't know. If
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: Ole Miss wins this game against LSU, don't you think
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: they'll still not be over it yet? No, they'll be
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: like Lane who? Really? You think so? We got Pete Golding, baby. Okay.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: If you think that, then more power to you. I
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: don't believe it, but I'm glad you think that. One
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: person said, Michael, did he... He read that one. I
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: read that one. This Australian is now Triumph the Insult
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: Comic Dog's favorite athlete ever. For me to poop on?
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: That's a great line right there, Jamie. Well done. But
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: UK women's basketball coach, Kenny Brooks.
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: Doesn't believe college sports is dying, but it is changing.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: He said, get used to it or get out. Of course,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: Yukon women's basketball coach, Gino... How do you say his R-E-M-A? Yeah.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: Made the comment, what was it, last week, that college
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: sports are dying? And Kenny Brooks says, no, that's not
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: the case. It's just changing. He believes the old ways
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: have died. That part is true. I think that we're
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: just going into the new era, and it kind of
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: gets to the point where change is inevitable. If you're
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: going to have change, and this is our change, and
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: we just have to embrace it. I get the change, Justin,
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: but I believe college sports change too fast, too quickly.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: And it's hurt some coaches and it's hurt some fan bases.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Do you agree with that? I do. And it's honestly,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: Gino's probably closer to how I feel just because. Oh,
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: is it really? Oh no. I'm probably right there with Kenny.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: I mean, what Kenny said is absolutely accurate. I mean,
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: everything he said is pretty spot on, but he, The
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: only thing I worry about is the money aspect of it. Like,
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: we cannot continue down the road of paying the players
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: what we're paying them and rosters spending what they are
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: for their rosters. I mean, it's not sustainable.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Yeah. The only other thing I want to talk about
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: today was the whole, I don't know if you saw
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: the Franklin media conference at Virginia Tech. Did you see that? No,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: missed it. Okay. So this poor guy was calling in
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: on Zoom. And he said, hey, coach, and then goes
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: on with this question. And then Franklin comes back and says, hey, Michael. Hey, Michael. Hey, Michael.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: Until the guy on the Zoom goes, can you hear me?
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: He goes, yeah, I can. How you doing, Michael? And
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: then finally goes, oh, I'm doing fine. It was kind
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: of an odd situation. And frankly, I just, I don't know.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: I like Franklin. That's not his fault. Whose? Franklin's. You
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: don't think so? Wouldn't that, I mean, that sounds to
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: me like some sort of technology issue. I don't know.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: I mean, just the fact that he kept going, hey, Michael. Hey, Michael. Hey, Michael.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: It's just like, okay, I would have probably done it
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: in a different way. He says, hey, Michael, are you
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: listening to me? I said hello to you. I don't know.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: I just would have done it a different way. And
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: the way he came across it, It did come across
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: as a little bit of a jerk.
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: I guess I'm going to have to go watch it.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: I don't know if I understand what you're saying. You've
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: got to go watch that, and I want to see
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: what your response is. But, yeah, all right. I don't
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: know if I can do this on– let me see
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: if I can do this with just replaying it right here.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: Probably not. No, I probably can't. Hey, Michael. What do
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: you remember about working alongside– Hey, Michael. How you doing, Michael? Michael,
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: how you doing? Okay, yeah, that's pretty awkward. So that's
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: what I thought. Then he takes the question. I don't know.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I looked at that, and I thought, I don't know.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: There was a lag. Is that what it was? Okay,
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: but anyway. Okay, all right, well, we got to take off.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Appreciate you listening. We'll see you tomorrow on Just the Caps.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: We'll be right back.
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: And water somewhere.
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: Got the blue sky breeze blowing wind through my hair.
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: Only worry in the world is.
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: A tide gonna reach my chair.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: Sunrise, there's a fire in the sky.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: Never been so happy, never felt so high. And I
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: think I might have found me my own kind of paradise.
