- 2:34Speaker 2: is really nice. Even though it's negative nine. We're negative
- 2:38Speaker 2: four or negative one or wherever you are. Just close
- 2:41Speaker 2: your eyes, gaze up at that sunshine and just take

- 3:28Speaker 2: House for over one hundred years. Absolutely amazing. I'm gonna
- 3:33Speaker 2: see if I can connect in with Deb Phillips from
- 3:37Speaker 2: the World Newspaper, which has been promoting Farmers Night quite
- 3:43Speaker 2: heavily as a matter of fact, and they've got the
- 3:46Speaker 2: full schedule printed. I know that Bob Wagner and Friends
- 3:50Speaker 2: was the kickoff on the twenty first, but this is
- 3:55Speaker 2: a big deal and we invite you to come out.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Farmers Night. It's in the world, goes all the way
- 4:00Speaker 2: until April eighth, and I think we got Deb with us.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Deep Good morning, Good morning, JD. How are we doing today,
- 4:07Speaker 2: Deb Phillips, we.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Are We're doing good, doing good. Papers are here, we
- 4:12Speaker 3: got here early. Everybody's out distributing already.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I hope they're bundled up. It's chili, yeah, it is.
- 4:22Speaker 2: What can we expect in today's world, This week's world,
- 4:27Speaker 2: this week's world.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Well, with Valentine's Day just around the corner, we hope
- 4:33Speaker 3: people will start planning now. We have a full page
- 4:37Speaker 3: of Valentine's gift ideas this week. We also have a
- 4:42Speaker 3: special section on a Healthy New Year and with lots
- 4:47Speaker 3: of articles and stuff about staying healthy this year. And
- 4:51Speaker 3: we have the pet care corner, and we have a
- 4:55Speaker 3: page on the Waterbury Winterfest.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I saw that.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's that's going to be fun. Yeah, that's
- 5:03Speaker 3: coming up. So we have the whole schedule in there.
- 5:06Speaker 2: There you go. Yeah, I saw the whole schedule. And
- 5:09Speaker 2: maybe I'm thinking of the Montpellier Winterfest that you had
- 5:12Speaker 2: the whole schedule printed on the back cover of last
- 5:15Speaker 2: last week's paper, right, Nope, that was nope.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I think that was somebody else that had that one.
- 5:23Speaker 3: That was the bridge.
- 5:24Speaker 4: I believe they had that.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Okay, all right, but we we have a headliner talking
- 5:30Speaker 3: about reminding people about it coming up.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And stop then.
- 5:36Speaker 3: So we have like the Waterbury Winterfest, which starts Wednesday,
- 5:42Speaker 3: January twenty eighth.
- 5:43Speaker 4: That's today wow, so yep.
- 5:47Speaker 3: And that one runs through through Sunday.
- 5:52Speaker 2: There's there's so much that's going on outdoors that I mean,
- 5:56Speaker 2: people love it. It got the bonfires, the hot coco,
- 5:58Speaker 2: the sledding, there's horse drawn sleigh rides, there's ice sculptures everywhere.
- 6:02Speaker 2: This it just you gotta listen. If you don't embrace it,
- 6:05Speaker 2: that's fine, but don't complain when you're still in the
- 6:09Speaker 2: jammie sitting on the couch all winter.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Really no, it should be a good weekend to get
- 6:14Speaker 3: out and do all those fun things.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Absolutely good stuff. Deb, thank you so much for everything,
- 6:21Speaker 2: for presenting the aired out podcast and for doing what
- 6:23Speaker 2: you and Gary and the rest of the team do
- 6:25Speaker 2: so so hard every week. You guys work your tails
- 6:28Speaker 2: off and we appreciate you well.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Thank you, JD. We appreciate you too.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Don't forget vt dashworld dot com. Thank you so much. Deb,
- 6:38Speaker 2: stay warm today you too. All right, that's the online
- 6:42Speaker 2: version vtashworld dot com if you want to check it
- 6:46Speaker 2: out Wednesday. Yes, a quick shout out to Jasper and Highgate,
- 6:50Speaker 2: one of our new followers here on the aired out podcast.
- 6:55Speaker 2: A very good morning to you. It is Wednesday, January
- 6:58Speaker 2: twenty eighth, Sweethearts Heroes Day. Dwayne Cody is not with
- 7:04Speaker 2: me in the studio, although I hope someday I'm gonna
- 7:07Speaker 2: get a chance to meet him and have him here
- 7:11Speaker 2: in the studio. But he is the president of the
- 7:14Speaker 2: North Country Chevy Dealers and he is with us right now.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Why is Dwayne Cody with us on Sweethearts and Heroes Day?
- 7:23Speaker 2: You know what, Dween, I'm gonna let you answer that question.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Good morning, j d Hawya. Thanks for having me.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Doing very well man. It is an absolute pleasure to
- 7:33Speaker 2: have you here. I've heard so much about you. What's
- 7:37Speaker 2: up with you guys and Sweethearts and Heroes.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Yeah, this is an initiative that the our Chevy Dealers group,
- 7:45Speaker 4: through a local marketing association which ranges from New Hampshire,
- 7:50Speaker 4: Vermont and New York, heard about Tom and Rick's organization
- 7:56Speaker 4: Sweethearts and Heroes back in twenty eighteen, nineteen somewhere in there,
- 8:01Speaker 4: and that's kind of when they got their start and
- 8:04Speaker 4: they had pitched us that they would like us to
- 8:07Speaker 4: partner with them. I think everybody was blown away. Sometimes
- 8:12Speaker 4: you really don't know what's going on out there in
- 8:15Speaker 4: the educational world. But they've expanded that obviously with the
- 8:20Speaker 4: electricians they're presenting to and other facets of workers that
- 8:29Speaker 4: are going through some mental health issues. But you know,
- 8:32Speaker 4: we focus on the schools and it's been an amazing
- 8:34Speaker 4: partnership and I really appreciate, you know what Tom Rick
- 8:38Speaker 4: and the whole team at Sweethearts and Heroes does, as
- 8:42Speaker 4: well as my dealer body.
- 8:44Speaker 2: You know, it is really refreshing to see that there
- 8:49Speaker 2: is a huge company, a bunch of big companies, but
- 8:57Speaker 2: the umbrella you're driving the bus of that is well
- 9:01Speaker 2: embracing Sweethearts and Heroes. I mean, that's that is so huge.
- 9:06Speaker 2: That's a big deal.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Man. Yeah, we're we're again. We're very excited to have
- 9:11Speaker 4: this relationship that's truly expanded to another another realm. But
- 9:17Speaker 4: it's you know, it's collective. We make decisions collectively, things
- 9:21Speaker 4: are brought to the table. There's some things that we
- 9:24Speaker 4: just we're just we can't do. But this this is
- 9:27Speaker 4: one that's stuck for quite some time, and even dealers
- 9:31Speaker 4: are doing more in their community, and they're hiring sweethearts
- 9:33Speaker 4: and heroes, not just using the funding that comes from
- 9:36Speaker 4: you know, the Chevy group. You know, we could we
- 9:39Speaker 4: could put our our advertising dollars towards TV ads, radio ads,
- 9:45Speaker 4: which is which is all good, and and advertise a
- 9:48Speaker 4: payment on a particular vehicle. But we're using our advertised
- 9:52Speaker 4: advertising dollars both ways by getting our messaging out there
- 9:56Speaker 4: as a group and as individual stores and making a
- 10:00Speaker 4: difference in schools with these students and teachers and administrators
- 10:04Speaker 4: that are just going through so so much right now,
- 10:07Speaker 4: so much mental situations. I mean, I go to every
- 10:14Speaker 4: single presentation that Tom and RiPP do because I'm looking
- 10:17Speaker 4: to see what that impact of our investment is doing
- 10:22Speaker 4: on that particular school that we've I've sponsored.
- 10:26Speaker 2: And nobody is immune to hardship. No one is immune
- 10:33Speaker 2: to stress, whether whether you're a teacher, whether you are
- 10:41Speaker 2: a student, and frankly, regardless of what grade you're in
- 10:46Speaker 2: in school. There is some heavy and We've talked about
- 10:50Speaker 2: we talk about this all the time. Tom and I've
- 10:52Speaker 2: had big conversations about this. There's some really heavy, heavy
- 10:56Speaker 2: stuff that pretty much fair to say, almost everybody, if
- 11:04Speaker 2: not literally everyone that is walking through the doors of
- 11:08Speaker 2: their school every single morning. There's a lot of weight
- 11:12Speaker 2: that that everyone's carrying right now, and it's all it's
- 11:16Speaker 2: all different, it's all different kind of weight, but it's
- 11:18Speaker 2: wait nonetheless, man.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Yeah it is. You know. The I think the the
- 11:23Speaker 4: prime example of an impact that Tom and Rick and
- 11:28Speaker 4: Sweethearts and Heroes you know are trying to do is
- 11:33Speaker 4: when you hear in the news that somebody committed suicide
- 11:39Speaker 4: and you're and then they go and they interview all
- 11:43Speaker 4: the people around them, and those people say, wow, he
- 11:46Speaker 4: was so happy, go lucky. We didn't know he was
- 11:49Speaker 4: having problems. Tom and Rick are at the forefront of
- 11:53Speaker 4: trying to get these teachers and students to help the
- 11:58Speaker 4: guidance ray of light in their life to say that
- 12:03Speaker 4: you do mean something, you are worth something, You are
- 12:07Speaker 4: worth something right now by being here at this presentation
- 12:12Speaker 4: and equipping the teachers with all with some of the
- 12:15Speaker 4: tools that they need. Obviously, if you go a little
- 12:18Speaker 4: further in in in their in their education, then you're
- 12:23Speaker 4: going to get more tools to be able to handle things.
- 12:27Speaker 4: You know, Like we were talking before, teachers aren't equipped
- 12:30Speaker 4: to handle mental issues or a home life situation. They're
- 12:34Speaker 4: there to teach math, science, uh, social studies. I I just,
- 12:40Speaker 4: I mean, they're they have the toughest job in the world,
- 12:44Speaker 4: and it's the most unappreciated job in the world. And
- 12:47Speaker 4: and as as I said to you before, I mean myself,
- 12:51Speaker 4: my team at Littleton Chevrolet just praises teachers in what
- 12:55Speaker 4: they do on a daily basis, and and and taking
- 13:00Speaker 4: care of these kids dealing with abuse, not only from
- 13:04Speaker 4: the student maybe being abused, but the teachers getting abused
- 13:08Speaker 4: by what people say or what they do or actions
- 13:11Speaker 4: on social media or posts. You know, they don't deserve that.
- 13:15Speaker 4: They're just trying to do their job and live their
- 13:17Speaker 4: life as best they can.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're human beings and they've got enough of
- 13:21Speaker 2: their own problems happening at their own house, in their
- 13:25Speaker 2: own private lives. I know, man, I know. And we
- 13:30Speaker 2: could peel back layers on this all day long. And
- 13:34Speaker 2: I know that you have with Tom and Rick. Tell
- 13:38Speaker 2: me about and well said, by the way, just you
- 13:42Speaker 2: just nailed it. Tell me about your neck of the woods, Danville.
- 13:47Speaker 2: The guys from Sweethearts and Heroes have been up there
- 13:49Speaker 2: and had a huge impact. You were telling me that
- 13:52Speaker 2: afterwards the teachers wanted to chat with Tom for fifteen minutes. Listen, Yeah, Dwayne,
- 13:59Speaker 2: you and I both know nobody talks to Tom for
- 14:03Speaker 2: fifteen minutes.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Our conversations on the phone sometimes last two hours. And
- 14:09Speaker 4: I'm thinking like, hey, I want to run this value.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Hey you get a yeah, man, I know, And then
- 14:16Speaker 4: like like, like you what I said. He's always suggesting
- 14:19Speaker 4: some sort of book, and I do love books, and
- 14:21Speaker 4: I'm like, Tom, sure I got I got to finish
- 14:23Speaker 4: this other book first before I can go into this one.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, you know, maybe we should all go
- 14:27Speaker 2: down to Costa Rica for three or four months and
- 14:29Speaker 2: sit on the beach and read books all day.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I know. I love. I love in the presentations
- 14:34Speaker 4: when he says, you know, uh, the great Socrates says
- 14:38Speaker 4: you know, you know, he goes into that whole thing
- 14:40Speaker 4: and and it's impactful. But his his knowledge is off
- 14:44Speaker 4: the charts, and I think that's what makes his presentations,
- 14:48Speaker 4: you know, some of the greatest, you know, like a
- 14:50Speaker 4: Ted Talk type thing, you know.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Yeah. So Danville was an area that it's part of
- 14:57Speaker 4: our DNA or our our Chevrolet District area so we
- 15:01Speaker 4: can kind of do whatever we want. And it was
- 15:04Speaker 4: nice that they were so inviting and they really really
- 15:09Speaker 4: wanted us there. We hadn't been there. They have a major, major,
- 15:13Speaker 4: you know, situation with a lot of students on the
- 15:16Speaker 4: bullying side, and they're trying to get their their hands
- 15:19Speaker 4: around it. But you know, they gave the presentation, they
- 15:22Speaker 4: went into circles with some of the younger kids, I
- 15:25Speaker 4: think it was the fifth or sixth graders, and then
- 15:27Speaker 4: they did something with the with the senior high kids.
- 15:30Speaker 4: And then afterwards Tom had had Matt wanted to meet
- 15:35Speaker 4: with the teachers for just fifteen minutes just to kind
- 15:37Speaker 4: of get them. I think there was maybe fifteen or
- 15:39Speaker 4: eighteen teachers there and it lasted over an hour, and
- 15:42Speaker 4: it could have gone on for two hours, just they
- 15:45Speaker 4: just kept asking questions and like how do you handle
- 15:47Speaker 4: this situation? And you're walking away from that And when
- 15:51Speaker 4: he was telling me the story, you didn't have to
- 15:53Speaker 4: say it. I could feel it. The emotional impact that
- 15:59Speaker 4: was had in that room was something that those teachers
- 16:04Speaker 4: just needed to get out, you know, rather it was
- 16:07Speaker 4: you know, shaking or or crying or just being able
- 16:11Speaker 4: to talk to somebody and Tom was able to do that.
- 16:14Speaker 4: And I'm so proud of the fact that we went
- 16:16Speaker 4: to Danville. I'm so proud of the fact that that
- 16:18Speaker 4: the feedback was was incredible from the people that I
- 16:22Speaker 4: dealt with, and also just watching the student's eyeballs and
- 16:26Speaker 4: and mannerisms as they're watching Tom. And then Rick comes
- 16:29Speaker 4: out and does his thing. And you know, when you
- 16:32Speaker 4: see Rick, you're shocked, but he plays it off. You know,
- 16:35Speaker 4: he's like, yeah, whatever, this has happened to me. But
- 16:38Speaker 4: again he's he's he's one of the greatest influencers of
- 16:43Speaker 4: our time right now.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. And for folks that may not be familiar
- 16:47Speaker 2: with Rick, Rick suffered a horrific roadside pom while he
- 16:55Speaker 2: was serving in Iraq and was covered in diesel fuel
- 16:59Speaker 2: and burned alive, and today he is very much alive,
- 17:05Speaker 2: he says, even more alive than he's ever been, and
- 17:11Speaker 2: presents in front of every single age and every single
- 17:17Speaker 2: demographic on the planet and impacts them tremendously. It is
- 17:24Speaker 2: unbelievable to hear this guy speak. It is literally almost
- 17:29Speaker 2: Dwayne impossible to have a really shitty day after you've
- 17:36Speaker 2: had some time with Rick perspective perspective is everything man.
- 17:42Speaker 4: He is. His humor is super dry, but it is
- 17:46Speaker 4: super funny. You know, with Rick's story, how many how
- 17:51Speaker 4: many times do you hear about a veteran that's homeless,
- 17:55Speaker 4: or a veteran that's lost his family, or a veteran
- 17:58Speaker 4: that that that is on drugs or an alcoholic. Rick
- 18:01Speaker 4: could have gone down that path, but definitely found away,
- 18:07Speaker 4: found a glimmer of hope from just talking to a
- 18:10Speaker 4: child and having that child say you know that that
- 18:14Speaker 4: just looking into her eyes and whatever what she said
- 18:17Speaker 4: at the time, and He's like, you know, there is
- 18:19Speaker 4: somebody out there that does care about me. And that
- 18:22Speaker 4: was the catapult for everything that we see today for
- 18:25Speaker 4: what he's doing. A true American hero right there.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Yep. Absolutely for people through through the bone, no doubt
- 18:33Speaker 2: about it. You know, we're talking about Danville and the
- 18:37Speaker 2: impacts that Sweethearts and Heroes is making up there, of
- 18:41Speaker 2: course with the support of North Country Chevy dealers. But
- 18:46Speaker 2: what about Lindon. The gu the guys were just up
- 18:51Speaker 2: at the Linden Institute not too long ago. That's that's
- 18:54Speaker 2: you guys.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's another school that we did last year. Again,
- 18:59Speaker 4: another great press. And as I always hear for feedback
- 19:03Speaker 4: from the from the teachers. You know when when there's
- 19:05Speaker 4: an assembly, kids tend to fidget, move around, don't pay attention. Well,
- 19:11Speaker 4: I can tell you that they pay attention and they
- 19:14Speaker 4: are hanging on every word that Tom and Rick talk about.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Doesn't matter, they keep it entertaining, they keep it real
- 19:21Speaker 4: and and the the administrators are just so impressed of
- 19:27Speaker 4: how how mature the students are while they're presenting, because
- 19:32Speaker 4: they are intently listening to what is coming out of
- 19:37Speaker 4: their mouths. And you know that that Lindonville one was
- 19:42Speaker 4: was pretty hard hit for me because you know, Tom
- 19:46Speaker 4: would talk to a lot of the people and they
- 19:47Speaker 4: hugs and everything, and the and the Instagram and the
- 19:50Speaker 4: photos and it's all it's all engaging. It's it's such
- 19:53Speaker 4: a great ending, you know, and and it gives it
- 19:56Speaker 4: gives those students an opportunity and in you know for
- 19:59Speaker 4: them to be like, hey, can I talk to you
- 20:01Speaker 4: for a second. I don't know what, I don't know
- 20:03Speaker 4: how to handle the situation right. Well, there was there
- 20:06Speaker 4: was one student that was dealing with a lot and
- 20:11Speaker 4: I'm not sure that the student has ever told anybody
- 20:14Speaker 4: of what she's dealing with, but she doesn't. She didn't
- 20:16Speaker 4: have much. She lives with her dad, I guess, and
- 20:22Speaker 4: you know her her dad doesn't acknowledge her at all,
- 20:25Speaker 4: and and she's I don't know how old she was,
- 20:28Speaker 4: but I mean, that's such a sad story, and she
- 20:30Speaker 4: has nobody to talk to. Tom gave her some hope,
- 20:35Speaker 4: that gave her some guidance, spoke to the teachers about it,
- 20:38Speaker 4: that hey, this is this is a serious situation. I
- 20:41Speaker 4: don't think by I don't think if we did not
- 20:44Speaker 4: have sweethearts and heroes there, if this young student would
- 20:49Speaker 4: have a chance in life. And I'm hoping that that
- 20:52Speaker 4: the school got behind it and there was some follow up.
- 20:56Speaker 4: But that's the stuff that made me cry, you know.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yeah, And you know, if if time were with us
- 21:03Speaker 2: right now, he would he would say that that is
- 21:08Speaker 2: one of many, many, many examples.
- 21:13Speaker 4: Hundreds of stories. You know, they're doing the electrical contractors,
- 21:18Speaker 4: you know, the unions, they're going around the country and
- 21:23Speaker 4: I didn't realize this, but Tom will probably correct me,
- 21:27Speaker 4: but he said, there's six I think it's sixteen suicides
- 21:31Speaker 4: a day in the United States through the Union of
- 21:35Speaker 4: electrical contract.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Blineman, Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Blineman, thank you. Yeah, that's a huge number. And what's
- 21:41Speaker 4: the reason why, Well, I can probably, I mean, I
- 21:44Speaker 4: could guess that you're on the road all the time.
- 21:46Speaker 4: You know, you're traveling, you're not with your family, you
- 21:48Speaker 4: can get down, you can get into some stuff that's
- 21:51Speaker 4: not good for you. Sure, And and I love, I
- 21:55Speaker 4: love that they're they're they're going in a different direction
- 21:59Speaker 4: and making an packed with those people. And then from
- 22:02Speaker 4: the from the union there there's other people reaching out
- 22:04Speaker 4: in other other unions, other businesses, you know, because mental
- 22:09Speaker 4: health is a is a is a terrible in a
- 22:13Speaker 4: deep situation in this country. Suicide is a major thing.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Bullying is still had is not not getting a handle
- 22:24Speaker 4: on it at this point. But you know, Sweethearts and
- 22:27Speaker 4: Heroes is doing what they can and we're trying to assist.
- 22:31Speaker 2: You and I are probably right around the same age.
- 22:36Speaker 2: And I know that at least I'm guessing that you
- 22:41Speaker 2: didn't grow up with a cell phone, that you weren't
- 22:46Speaker 2: spending your summers tethered to an electronic device.
- 22:56Speaker 4: The answer is no. And when when it was the
- 23:00Speaker 4: weekend and as a young child and we were home,
- 23:05Speaker 4: and and my mom would say, get your stuff on
- 23:08Speaker 4: and get the hell outside.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Same here.
- 23:10Speaker 4: That was it? What Then then my brother and I
- 23:13Speaker 4: would throw sticks and stones at each other, climbing trees,
- 23:16Speaker 4: going it out, you know, behind the rock and the tree.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I know, we we were. It's it's it's different, man.
- 23:24Speaker 2: We were raking leaves, we were shoveling the neighbors, uh
- 23:27Speaker 2: snow out of their out of their yard. We were
- 23:29Speaker 2: climbing trees, we were riding bikes, making jumps, getting hurt, right,
- 23:33Speaker 2: and today we're we see and and you were just
- 23:39Speaker 2: you were just telling me you you're always seeing kids
- 23:43Speaker 2: just head down, tethered to that phone.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's it's something that there has to be
- 23:52Speaker 4: some sort of limit or control by, and it starts
- 23:55Speaker 4: to the parents, you know, and when you know it's hard,
- 24:02Speaker 4: it is hard because I do see this when a
- 24:04Speaker 4: parent has an iPad for their three year old and
- 24:06Speaker 4: a three year old and it's keeping him occupied, that's
- 24:08Speaker 4: all well and good, but it has to be in
- 24:10Speaker 4: moderation and you have to teach them moderation. And if
- 24:14Speaker 4: you don't, then you get into situations like we are now,
- 24:17Speaker 4: where you know, if you went to you could grab
- 24:19Speaker 4: any kid's phone and say how many Look at how
- 24:22Speaker 4: many hours they were on their phone. I mean gues
- 24:26Speaker 4: twelve to sixteen, And that seems like a large number,
- 24:30Speaker 4: but it's probably right in the realm. Maybe eight, but
- 24:32Speaker 4: still eight is too much. You know what, ask a
- 24:36Speaker 4: kid if you want to go play checkers or chess?
- 24:39Speaker 2: What's that?
- 24:40Speaker 4: Yeah? I have no idea. Let's go play shoots and
- 24:43Speaker 4: ladders while we're at it.
- 24:44Speaker 2: What's that? I know? Man, I hear you, and and
- 24:48Speaker 2: Tom has a lot to say about who to point
- 24:51Speaker 2: the finger at with with all of this, but you know.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Not getting any JD. It's not getting any better now
- 25:00Speaker 4: that this country, the the the the companies. You know,
- 25:05Speaker 4: they're always looking for the next best thing, AI robot X,
- 25:09Speaker 4: the best phone, you know, iPhone fourteen or whatever we're
- 25:14Speaker 4: at now.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I know, it's crazy. There's a lot of
- 25:18Speaker 2: a lot of great things that could be said. I mean,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I mean that, my god, I mean look at Google
- 25:23Speaker 2: and roadblocks and uh and Meta right now, Uh Mark,
- 25:29Speaker 2: Mark Zuckerberg's pushing back. We got we got TikTok who's
- 25:34Speaker 2: right in the check here, and we're gonna be talking
- 25:36Speaker 2: about this more Friday morning here on aired out. But man,
- 25:40Speaker 2: it is you know which kind of brings me to
- 25:44Speaker 2: brings me back to summertime once once school's out, Sweethearts
- 25:51Speaker 2: and Heroes doesn't stop, and neither does neither to the
- 25:56Speaker 2: North Country Chevy Dealers. You guys are backing them up, saying, hey,
- 26:01Speaker 2: continue this mission through the summer.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Yeah, we're we're we're always planning, looking for for the
- 26:07Speaker 4: next thing that we can assist with. And as I mentioned,
- 26:11Speaker 4: you know, we sponsored a teacher outing UH central locations
- 26:16Speaker 4: in UH New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York and invited
- 26:21Speaker 4: all of these schools within the diameter of of where
- 26:25Speaker 4: the dealership was and encouraged them to go for a
- 26:29Speaker 4: couple of days just to get some training. And it
- 26:33Speaker 4: was well received. The attendance was was wonderful at all
- 26:37Speaker 4: three of the presentations. Obviously, it's it's more garnered towards
- 26:44Speaker 4: features and handling situations, and it's just another facet of
- 26:48Speaker 4: what Sweethearts and Heroes is doing and and and allowing
- 26:51Speaker 4: us to be part of it and and hopefully making
- 26:56Speaker 4: making that impact with those teachers so they can go
- 26:58Speaker 4: back with their tool belt mark.
- 27:01Speaker 2: As the president of the North Country Chevy Dealers. What
- 27:06Speaker 2: impacts has Sweethearts and Heroes had on you personally, Dwayne?
- 27:13Speaker 2: Where you think you have brought in some of those
- 27:18Speaker 2: impacts to your managers, your staff, maybe without walking around
- 27:30Speaker 2: with a sign that says I've learned this from Sweethearts
- 27:35Speaker 2: and Heroes and I want you you guys to start
- 27:38Speaker 2: thinking this way. But maybe something that you haven't admitted
- 27:44Speaker 2: yet to any of your staff, but it's something that
- 27:48Speaker 2: is at the forefront of your mind because of Sweethearts
- 27:52Speaker 2: and Heroes.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, and just in March, Tom's coming to
- 27:59Speaker 4: the store as part of our thing that we're doing
- 28:03Speaker 4: with the Lisbon School. But I always share what I'm
- 28:08Speaker 4: doing and where I'm going with my staff. I'm always
- 28:12Speaker 4: putting it out there on social media, you know, the
- 28:15Speaker 4: impact that we're having, you know. And then my staff
- 28:20Speaker 4: will ask me questions about what's this all about, you know,
- 28:24Speaker 4: and we talk about it. You know, some some summer
- 28:28Speaker 4: don't really they had their own little world, and that's fine.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Others are interested. I like I, like I said before,
- 28:36Speaker 4: you know, you're here on this planet for a short
- 28:38Speaker 4: period of time, and what are you going to do
- 28:41Speaker 4: in between the day you're born and the day you pass,
- 28:44Speaker 4: and that impact is so important. Rather it's you know,
- 28:48Speaker 4: a five dollars donation or you know, a twenty five
- 28:52Speaker 4: thousand dollars donation one hundred thousand dollars nation, or your
- 28:54Speaker 4: time or thinking outside the box. And I think I
- 28:58Speaker 4: think every time I talk to and Rick and and
- 29:01Speaker 4: and go to a presentation, it makes me think more
- 29:04Speaker 4: of what else can I do to help? You know,
- 29:08Speaker 4: I don't, I don't. Yeah, I think I think that's
- 29:11Speaker 4: that's kind of the answer. I hope that you answer your.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Yeah and and build upon your legacy, which is all
- 29:21Speaker 2: you've got at the end, at the.
- 29:23Speaker 4: End of the day, Matt legacy. I think about often,
- 29:29Speaker 4: what are people going to say about you when you pass?
- 29:32Speaker 2: You know, were you an awesome president of the North
- 29:36Speaker 2: Country Chevy Dealers or first and foremost, were you a
- 29:40Speaker 2: great dad a great human being? Above that? I think
- 29:43Speaker 2: way about that.
- 29:44Speaker 4: I I you know, me being president is just uh uh.
- 29:49Speaker 4: I'm the bus driver, you know, and working with a
- 29:53Speaker 4: team of a marketing group out of New York, Trainer
- 29:55Speaker 4: and Associates, which which give them a shout out. They
- 29:58Speaker 4: work Tyler's tire less lee on what we're doing, and
- 30:02Speaker 4: they're always there for us. Uh, but it's it's I
- 30:09Speaker 4: think it's just being a great human being period and
- 30:12Speaker 4: being there for people, you know, like I. I. You know,
- 30:16Speaker 4: people always say to me, how do you know so
- 30:18Speaker 4: much about you know? Well, I read, I watch, I listen.
- 30:23Speaker 4: I get into my employees' lives. I want to know
- 30:26Speaker 4: what's going on with them. I want to try to
- 30:28Speaker 4: help them if they're in trouble in any way, or
- 30:31Speaker 4: if they're family's in trouble. And I and I think,
- 30:34Speaker 4: you know that's Tom could be doing anything. He could
- 30:37Speaker 4: be still doing m m A if you wanted to maybe,
- 30:40Speaker 4: but he could be doing anything. And he sacrifices and
- 30:43Speaker 4: Rick sacrifices to travel all over the place to to
- 30:47Speaker 4: just make their impact and make an unbelievable legacy for themselves.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you say you're you're watching you You're not watching
- 31:01Speaker 2: a whole hell of a lot of TV though, No
- 31:06Speaker 2: only sports sports guy who's gonna win the Super Bowl?
- 31:09Speaker 2: I mean, is it? Is it a no brain? Should? I?
- 31:11Speaker 2: Do you even need to bother asking that question?
- 31:14Speaker 4: You just gotta you gotta go to New England, Baby,
- 31:16Speaker 4: what New England. So many, so many similarities to the
- 31:21Speaker 4: last time. Last time Seattle and of the Pats played
- 31:26Speaker 4: too many similarities. But you know, and you know this
- 31:30Speaker 4: playoff sports is great day to day sports man Red
- 31:35Speaker 4: Sox Suore football obviously on Sundays because it's winter and
- 31:38Speaker 4: there's not much else to do, and it's a gathering.
- 31:41Speaker 4: You know, it's a good gathering and getting people together.
- 31:44Speaker 2: But I'm not watching a whole hell of a lot
- 31:46Speaker 2: of Uh, I'm.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Not housewives guy, if that's what you're asking.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Or just the news.
- 31:54Speaker 4: I'll get the news from reading. I'll watch a little
- 31:57Speaker 4: nightly news, not much. I I would rather, you know,
- 32:03Speaker 4: I would rather read when I get some time. I'm
- 32:06Speaker 4: getting better at it. I have. I'm motivated to read,
- 32:10Speaker 4: you know, a minimum of twenty five books this year.
- 32:13Speaker 4: But also I'm listening to audio books, and you know,
- 32:17Speaker 4: there's a lot of suggestions of books that come out there,
- 32:20Speaker 4: not only from Tom, but just from others that are interesting.
- 32:23Speaker 4: You know, I just finished the book nineteen twenty nine,
- 32:26Speaker 4: and it was about the stock market crash in nineteen
- 32:30Speaker 4: twenty nine and how that was manipulated by many high
- 32:34Speaker 4: ranking and wealthy individuals and it ruined a lot of
- 32:37Speaker 4: people's lives. It's a great book. I recommend it if
- 32:40Speaker 4: anybody gets up there. I recommendations today.
- 32:43Speaker 2: I know that that Tom's recommended a few books too.
- 32:47Speaker 2: But you're also you're also a bit of a writer.
- 32:53Speaker 4: Wow. I mean, as I mentioned, I just finished last year,
- 32:58Speaker 4: my son and I finished our first documentary ever. Didn't
- 33:02Speaker 4: really know where we were going with or what we're
- 33:04Speaker 4: going to do. It's called One World, One Jam and
- 33:06Speaker 4: it's the history of twenty five years of the Jerry
- 33:09Speaker 4: Jam Music Festival. So we launched that in October. Still
- 33:13Speaker 4: have the company, the production company, but I've decided that
- 33:17Speaker 4: I'm going to write another I'm going to write a book.
- 33:20Speaker 4: I've already started my interviews in July. It's kind of
- 33:23Speaker 4: a just a side hobby thing. It's going to take
- 33:26Speaker 4: me two or four years to write it. But there's
- 33:28Speaker 4: there's something intriguing about, you know, the history of Franconia
- 33:34Speaker 4: College in Franconia, New Hampshire. It was a college that
- 33:37Speaker 4: was up and running for fifteen years and the stories
- 33:41Speaker 4: are off the charts and I think doing a documentary
- 33:44Speaker 4: doesn't do this. This this their their history justice. So
- 33:47Speaker 4: I've already started it. I got to get it going.
- 33:50Speaker 4: But as far as writing, I love writing. It's it
- 33:54Speaker 4: kind of takes me away from everyday life and really
- 33:58Speaker 4: gets me thinking deep. You know that I'm not saying.
- 34:02Speaker 4: I mean, yes, I'd like to have a couple of
- 34:03Speaker 4: columns published here and there, but it's it's mostly about
- 34:06Speaker 4: my you know. Writing is about some poetry, some songwriting,
- 34:11Speaker 4: and maybe an article or two. Wow, it's something something
- 34:16Speaker 4: else to do. Keep you busy. I'll share. I'll share
- 34:21Speaker 4: a couple with you later today. Please, I'll send you
- 34:25Speaker 4: the one on the on the Baseball Hall of Fame.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and I would love that, And I'd love the
- 34:30Speaker 2: one World one Jam talk too.
- 34:32Speaker 4: If I'll send you the link to that.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Wow. So what do you what are you hoping to
- 34:40Speaker 2: do next with Sweethearts and Heroes? What's what's the plan
- 34:45Speaker 2: for the North Country Chevy dealers.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Well, I know that we have still a fair amount
- 34:52Speaker 4: of presentation scheduled throughout this year. After that, we I
- 35:01Speaker 4: can't really discuss a lot of it, but where there's
- 35:04Speaker 4: been some changes in how Chevrolet conducts that's how they
- 35:10Speaker 4: tell us how we need to conduct our business. So
- 35:13Speaker 4: that's something I'm dealing with with a couple other dealers
- 35:17Speaker 4: in New York who are the presidents of their association.
- 35:21Speaker 4: And yeah, we just we I don't know. At this point,
- 35:25Speaker 4: we want to keep the relationship going. I love what
- 35:29Speaker 4: we're doing for the communities and for the schools and teachers.
- 35:34Speaker 4: As I said, I think we've had we've had an
- 35:36Speaker 4: impact as a group, and it's an unusual impact because
- 35:40Speaker 4: other associations aren't doing some of the things that we're doing.
- 35:44Speaker 4: We're thinking outside the box often and where can we
- 35:48Speaker 4: really really put our invest our money and our dollars
- 35:52Speaker 4: into our communities better?
- 35:54Speaker 2: You know? Yeah, you know, these guys are so busy
- 36:01Speaker 2: and as I'm sure you've had conversations with Tom where
- 36:07Speaker 2: he's just like all systems go twenty four to seven,
- 36:13Speaker 2: trying to make an impact and trying to save an
- 36:17Speaker 2: individual or reroot them onto a better path, a more
- 36:22Speaker 2: productive path, or a different way of thinking about something,
- 36:26Speaker 2: even from I mean from alignment all the way down
- 36:30Speaker 2: to to you know, a third grader. These guys are
- 36:37Speaker 2: they're busting their tails.
- 36:38Speaker 4: Man.
- 36:38Speaker 2: They're over in White River today, I think yesterday and
- 36:46Speaker 2: today they're they're in White River and then they're gonna
- 36:49Speaker 2: be presenting at South Burlington High School, I think on
- 36:55Speaker 2: Thursday this week. It's it's a brutal schedule, man, and
- 37:01Speaker 2: there's there's a huge team behind the scenes that are
- 37:05Speaker 2: that are helping to conduct all of this, and it's
- 37:09Speaker 2: it's a lot, man, It's a lot. The fact that
- 37:12Speaker 2: you guys are engaged with sweethearts and heroes says so
- 37:17Speaker 2: much about about the Chevy dealers. And I hope that
- 37:24Speaker 2: that going up another one hundred thousand feet above you,
- 37:29Speaker 2: I hope that Chevy as a whole is privy to this.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Yeah, we we we share some stuff. Some stuff gets
- 37:39Speaker 4: a little bit more momentum when maybe uh press release
- 37:44Speaker 4: goes out and maybe you know, w c x TV
- 37:47Speaker 4: picks it up or Fox, you know, and then we
- 37:52Speaker 4: share some of the clips with the people above me
- 37:55Speaker 4: in Chevrolet and then they should that get sent to
- 37:58Speaker 4: Detroit and maybe down the road, I'll get a card,
- 38:01Speaker 4: you know, from from one of them. It's very positive,
- 38:05Speaker 4: which is nice to see that we are doing things
- 38:07Speaker 4: differently and we're still carrying the torch of Chevrolet and
- 38:11Speaker 4: still selling Chevrolets now at a at a good.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Clip yeah, yeah, yeah, And and your your boys and
- 38:19Speaker 2: girls are are coming to work every day with stupid
- 38:25Speaker 2: temperatures and dusting off those cars and busting their butts
- 38:29Speaker 2: man over there, so.
- 38:34Speaker 4: We you know, COVID was a weird time. But and
- 38:36Speaker 4: and you know, I had to look back going through
- 38:41Speaker 4: the years, we have not had this much snow in
- 38:45Speaker 4: the White Mountains, I'd say six for six or seven years,
- 38:50Speaker 4: it's been really really light. I had to go back
- 38:54Speaker 4: and count recently because this was the biggest storm that
- 38:57Speaker 4: I've seen in six or seven years, and it looks
- 39:00Speaker 4: like we got anywhere from twelve to fifteen inches into
- 39:02Speaker 4: two days between Sunday and Tuesday. But it's it. It
- 39:10Speaker 4: takes its toll mentally on everybody, you know, and it's cold.
- 39:14Speaker 4: You know, I'm up early at two two thirty. I
- 39:16Speaker 4: got another guy, he's running the loader. I'm running the
- 39:19Speaker 4: plow truck. We got three properties that we got to manage.
- 39:23Speaker 4: And then when then everybody comes in the lots ready
- 39:25Speaker 4: to go, it's it's standard, and then they can do
- 39:28Speaker 4: their plowing and brush off the cars, especially with these
- 39:31Speaker 4: temperatures when it's you know, five below, ten above. You know,
- 39:36Speaker 4: Fortunately we have a manageable amount of vehicles in stock.
- 39:40Speaker 4: But I remember back in the day, we had the
- 39:43Speaker 4: winter of that almost killed us because we got like
- 39:47Speaker 4: eighteen or twenty inches and the snow drifts were probably another,
- 39:52Speaker 4: you know, twenty to thirty inches higher on the cars,
- 39:56Speaker 4: and we had three hundred units in the law and
- 39:58Speaker 4: you had nowhere to put snow, and everybody was that.
- 40:01Speaker 4: That was a two day project. Two days, so you
- 40:04Speaker 4: figure the storm comes in, everybody's hunkering down milk, bread
- 40:10Speaker 4: and cheese. And then the day you know storm's coming in,
- 40:14Speaker 4: day of the storm, let it go, next day cleaning,
- 40:18Speaker 4: next day you're cleaning. So you're four or five days
- 40:20Speaker 4: out before you're actually doing business. People get frustrated, but
- 40:24Speaker 4: it's it's been part of the car business, living in
- 40:27Speaker 4: cold climate areas forever. Yeah, So it's not just I'm
- 40:32Speaker 4: not complaining. I love the winter, but it's you know,
- 40:35Speaker 4: you don't complain because there's people, you know, that preceded you,
- 40:39Speaker 4: that are doing the same things that you're doing now
- 40:42Speaker 4: that they did thirty years ago. They had to do it.
- 40:46Speaker 4: They had to get a shovel out because they didn't
- 40:47Speaker 4: have plow trucks.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Exactly you know, your relationship with your community, and frankly
- 41:00Speaker 2: your communities outside of your immediate community is imperative to success.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Your relationship, your your integrity, your reputation. These are all big,
- 41:15Speaker 2: big things. But when you guys take it beyond the
- 41:20Speaker 2: automobile industry and take it into schools, uh and take
- 41:27Speaker 2: it to the faces and the eyes and the ears
- 41:30Speaker 2: of students and teachers, that's next level, Twain. That's that's
- 41:36Speaker 2: something that you don't see a lot of automobile businesses
- 41:43Speaker 2: tripping over themselves doing.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Yeah, like I said before, it's I love going to
- 41:50Speaker 4: these these presentations that we're sponsoring because I want to
- 41:54Speaker 4: see firsthand what impact and what investment we're putting into
- 41:59Speaker 4: the US on the mannerisms on their students' faces, on
- 42:04Speaker 4: the teachers would be oh wow, I didn't know that.
- 42:08Speaker 4: You know. You know, Tom has a slide in one
- 42:12Speaker 4: of his presentations. I don't remember the girl's name, but
- 42:15Speaker 4: she live streamed her suicide and then he has not
- 42:19Speaker 4: only her, but I think eight or twelve other students
- 42:23Speaker 4: of all ages that committed suicide as well. I mean,
- 42:28Speaker 4: you look around the room and the kids' faces are
- 42:32Speaker 4: just like, oh my god, you know, makes them think
- 42:35Speaker 4: and if they are having problems, hopefully something's pull out
- 42:39Speaker 4: of them that they can have a conversation with somebody
- 42:41Speaker 4: at some point in what they're dealing with.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's you know, and it all comes down to hope, man,
- 42:48Speaker 2: And and Rick talks about this. If you've completely lost it,
- 42:53Speaker 2: every ounce of it, it's it's not easy to get back.
- 42:58Speaker 2: And if you can have people handed to you on
- 43:01Speaker 2: a silver platter all day, but unless you find it
- 43:04Speaker 2: within yourself, that might prevent you from from reaching out
- 43:10Speaker 2: and saying, hey, I need somebody to just to just
- 43:16Speaker 2: hear hear me or or maybe uh not even speak,
- 43:21Speaker 2: but just be together with me, because man, it's hitting
- 43:25Speaker 2: the fan right now in my life and I just
- 43:28Speaker 2: need I need somebody to stand beside me.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Yeah. When when Rick speaks and somebody's dealing with no
- 43:37Speaker 4: hope or lack of hope or little hope, they have
- 43:40Speaker 4: to check themselves and say, wow, yeah, I'm not like
- 43:44Speaker 4: that guy. Yep, No, I guess I can come out
- 43:47Speaker 4: of this. And it gets hopefully it gets them thinking
- 43:50Speaker 4: to be like all right, I got to change my ways,
- 43:53Speaker 4: I got to change my path, I got to change
- 43:55Speaker 4: my life.
- 43:56Speaker 2: The fact that you guys recognize how important this is
- 44:03Speaker 2: all of the North Country Chevy dealers. The fact that
- 44:07Speaker 2: you guys know this and that this is a priority
- 44:11Speaker 2: to you and you go to these presentations not just
- 44:15Speaker 2: at Linden Institute in Danville but to others is really massive. Man,
- 44:21Speaker 2: It's huge. And Tom and I have had conversations about this.
- 44:25Speaker 2: He's been telling me for a long time. Dude, you
- 44:27Speaker 2: gotta get Dwayne.
- 44:28Speaker 4: On sounded to just like him.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Well, listen, man, you guys just first of all, just
- 44:40Speaker 2: a big thank you, I think is in order to
- 44:45Speaker 2: all of the North Country Chevy dealers for locking it
- 44:51Speaker 2: up with sweethearts and heroes and saying we're gonna make
- 44:55Speaker 2: sure that they get into as many schools as possible
- 44:59Speaker 2: and have a big of an impact as possible. And sometimes, Dwayne,
- 45:03Speaker 2: you know, you may not see the results, you may
- 45:08Speaker 2: not see the impact, but quietly, behind the curtain, you
- 45:15Speaker 2: may have saved a lot of kids, not only from
- 45:19Speaker 2: some hardship or or or depression, but also some some
- 45:24Speaker 2: behind the scenes bullying that fixed itself because of sweethearts
- 45:31Speaker 2: and heroes and the fact that you guys are backing
- 45:33Speaker 2: them up.
- 45:35Speaker 4: Yeah, that's one thing we didn't talk about was the
- 45:36Speaker 4: bullying portion. That's that's the that's literally the silent person
- 45:43Speaker 4: in the room when when you you know, when somebody's
- 45:47Speaker 4: not talking about their situation and they're just getting cyber
- 45:51Speaker 4: bullied all day long. I don't know what that feels
- 45:55Speaker 4: like or or or or means. I can only look
- 45:59Speaker 4: at it from a thirty thousand foot view. But when
- 46:04Speaker 4: the bullying portion comes up in the presentation, you know,
- 46:08Speaker 4: my hope is that the bullier, you know, kind of
- 46:12Speaker 4: steps up and says, I shouldn't be doing this anymore. Yeah,
- 46:16Speaker 4: you know, this is not me. This is going to
- 46:18Speaker 4: ruin my life. This is going to ruin somebody else's life,
- 46:22Speaker 4: you know.
- 46:23Speaker 2: And I've said this to Tom, I've said this to
- 46:27Speaker 2: all the guys. Is that, you know, when I was
- 46:30Speaker 2: in middle school and high school, I was goofing around
- 46:34Speaker 2: a lot. I think getting a clear definition of what
- 46:41Speaker 2: bullying is is is really important because a lot of
- 46:46Speaker 2: us are just teasing. We're just goofing around. We're immature,
- 46:49Speaker 2: we're having fun, blah blah blah. We may not realize
- 46:53Speaker 2: that what we're doing is really truly unwelcomed and hurt,
- 47:00Speaker 2: and maybe might even be something that the recipient carries
- 47:08Speaker 2: or remembers uh as the last thing before they go
- 47:10Speaker 2: to bed at night. Yeah, we often don't realize this.
- 47:14Speaker 2: And that's one thing about Tom and and these guys
- 47:17Speaker 2: Is and Pat and Josiah and and Brian, all of them.
- 47:21Speaker 2: They put this into a really clear perspective of of
- 47:27Speaker 2: what that is. Words are powerful, man.
- 47:31Speaker 4: Yeah, as as you're speaking, I'm thinking, and I have
- 47:34Speaker 4: to say, one of the greatest compliments I've ever received
- 47:37Speaker 4: in my entire life, and there's there's been many, but
- 47:40Speaker 4: this is this ranks right up there. Guy went to
- 47:44Speaker 4: high school with lives locally, kind of an introvert, but
- 47:48Speaker 4: very talented in audio, uh in music that that that sector.
- 47:58Speaker 4: We were doing our documentary and as we're setting things up,
- 48:04Speaker 4: you know, we don't have a connection other than high school.
- 48:08Speaker 4: You see him around town, you wave, hey, what's up man,
- 48:11Speaker 4: He goes. I've been meaning to tell you and your
- 48:13Speaker 4: brother for a long time. Back in high school, you
- 48:17Speaker 4: stood up for me when I was being bullied by many,
- 48:19Speaker 4: and I truly appreciate that, and I've always wanted to
- 48:22Speaker 4: tell you that, so thank you. I'm like what speechless
- 48:29Speaker 4: as you can see speechless. And I didn't even know
- 48:33Speaker 4: at that time. You know, everybody's it's called you know,
- 48:35Speaker 4: like era joshing around, you know, I mean, yeah, that's
- 48:39Speaker 4: what we did. You know, you fooled around with people,
- 48:41Speaker 4: You picked on people, I guess, but I guess didn't
- 48:45Speaker 4: realize the extent of how he was being bullied. And
- 48:48Speaker 4: I honestly, I don't even remember what my brother and
- 48:50Speaker 4: I did at the time for us to make an
- 48:54Speaker 4: impact on him. And obviously it had an impact because
- 48:57Speaker 4: it stopped and he'd been holding that in for so
- 49:03Speaker 4: I'm fifty six. He's my brother's age, so he's fifty four,
- 49:08Speaker 4: so forty plus years and he just decided because of
- 49:12Speaker 4: the documentary, he wanted to let me know. He wanted
- 49:15Speaker 4: to thank me and make sure my brother knew. Wow. Crazy,
- 49:19Speaker 4: And again that's that's you don't know, Like you just said,
- 49:24Speaker 4: you don't know the impact that you're making on somebody's lives,
- 49:28Speaker 4: somebody's life by just a small gesture, you know, or
- 49:33Speaker 4: a conversation or a hug or hey how are you man?
- 49:37Speaker 4: You know, it can go a long way to open
- 49:41Speaker 4: up a deeper conversation.
- 49:42Speaker 2: People Here's the thing about this about this guy is
- 49:51Speaker 2: if he lives until he's ninety, he's still gonna remember this. Yeah,
- 50:00Speaker 2: obviously if he's if he's carried this in the back
- 50:03Speaker 2: of his mind this long, I mean, think about that
- 50:06Speaker 2: for you know, around forty years. He's always known to Twain,
- 50:15Speaker 2: Cody had his back one day.
- 50:18Speaker 4: Yeah, even I didn't even know.
- 50:19Speaker 2: It, even though that Dwayne Cody didn't know it. That's yeah.
- 50:24Speaker 2: That really that says a lot. Man, That says a lot.
- 50:29Speaker 2: You know, I wish more kids could hear, could hear
- 50:32Speaker 2: that story?
- 50:33Speaker 3: M hm.
- 50:35Speaker 4: You know, you get up in the morning and I'll
- 50:38Speaker 4: call it sometimes there's Groundhog's Day. Do the same thing
- 50:42Speaker 4: over and over again every day for many days and
- 50:44Speaker 4: many weeks, and you just get in a routine. You know.
- 50:48Speaker 4: I've always been of the mindset and learned a long
- 50:50Speaker 4: time ago. You know, what impact are you going to
- 50:53Speaker 4: make today? Rather large or small? And and and somebody's
- 50:58Speaker 4: life a decision that is being made. And I would
- 51:06Speaker 4: encourage more people just as you're getting up laying in bed,
- 51:09Speaker 4: you get up, you make your coffee, and you just
- 51:12Speaker 4: keep saying, what impact are you going to make today?
- 51:15Speaker 4: Because it can go a long way, and you don't
- 51:17Speaker 4: have to you know, you don't have to get CBS
- 51:20Speaker 4: News to get out there.
- 51:22Speaker 3: You know.
- 51:22Speaker 4: One thing that bothers me is a lot of the influencers, right,
- 51:26Speaker 4: They're not bad people. I'm not saying that. It's just
- 51:30Speaker 4: they want to be in front of the camera. They
- 51:31Speaker 4: want to give ten thousand dollars away, you know, they
- 51:35Speaker 4: want to make that. Are they making an impact in
- 51:37Speaker 4: somebody's life or is it just for clicks and likes
- 51:41Speaker 4: and money. I don't know, but I don't think people
- 51:45Speaker 4: should live their life like that. You know, you should
- 51:47Speaker 4: go about making a silent impact on someone or something
- 51:52Speaker 4: every single day. And if you do that, we go
- 51:56Speaker 4: back too. There's your legacy.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Yeah, so true. Man. I gotta tell you, I am
- 52:05Speaker 2: so humbled to have had this time with you this morning.
- 52:11Speaker 2: I can only imagine how busy you are, how many
- 52:16Speaker 2: cars need to be dusted off. I'm sure you got
- 52:22Speaker 2: a lot of stuff happening, but the fact that you
- 52:25Speaker 2: carved out some time this morning, and maybe it was
- 52:32Speaker 2: threats from Tom that intimidated you, I don't know.
- 52:36Speaker 4: For a while, yeah, exactly, I've wanted to get on here.
- 52:40Speaker 4: I just had to make the time for it. And yes,
- 52:43Speaker 4: end of year, beginning of the year, it's winter, it's busy,
- 52:46Speaker 4: there's a lot of moving parts right now. But again,
- 52:50Speaker 4: this is my portion of impact today.
- 52:53Speaker 2: That's right.
- 52:54Speaker 4: I feel. I feel blessed. I truly appreciate what you do.
- 52:58Speaker 4: I appreciate your time, appreciate this conversation, and I'll send
- 53:03Speaker 4: you that stuff a little later today.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Yeah, man, I hope to get up there and shake
- 53:07Speaker 2: your hand one of these days. Twayne, and you know
- 53:11Speaker 2: on behalf of Sweethearts and Heroes and all of our
