- 0:08Speaker 1: Folks, Welcome in Irish Teeters podcast. Steelers Baby, They're back,
- 0:13Speaker 1: want to zero, undefeated this far, so far this season
- 0:18Speaker 1: in the preseason. Obviously a big win twenty eight to
- 0:20Speaker 1: nine against the Packers late on Thursday night early Friday morning.
- 0:25Speaker 1: And we're gonna have this in each preseason week where
- 0:28Speaker 1: we have a quick chat with somebody either from or
- 0:31Speaker 1: affilling into the Staters. And absolutely delighted to welcome to
- 0:34Speaker 1: a guy who is just so close to the team
- 0:37Speaker 1: in the sense of he is literally standing at the
- 0:40Speaker 1: trope every day the camp is all and seeing this team,
- 0:44Speaker 1: you know, sweat and get ready for these games. Ed
- 0:47Speaker 1: Troup from SNR joins us and Ed is your first
- 0:49Speaker 1: time on the podcast and obviously a huge welcome.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Man.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Thank you very very much for joining us, especially less
- 0:55Speaker 1: than twenty four hours after the first preseason for the Steelers.
- 0:58Speaker 1: How are you doing.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I'm doing great, Michael. It's awesome to be with you.
- 1:01Speaker 2: And you know, we met a few weeks ago whenever
- 1:03Speaker 2: you were over for training camp, and one of the
- 1:06Speaker 2: first things I said to you was, look, I'm Irish,
- 1:08Speaker 2: I have Irish heritage and I have people where you are.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Man like we can definitely jumping out on a different
- 1:16Speaker 1: podcast and we'll get a full expedition. I love that,
- 1:18Speaker 1: but I will I will say, like, obviously, thank you
- 1:20Speaker 1: so much for the hospitality, the kindness, not just from
- 1:22Speaker 1: yourself but from everyone there last few weeks. I would
- 1:25Speaker 1: love to be a camp over the final few days
- 1:29Speaker 1: in the Trobe and experience at one more time. But
- 1:31Speaker 1: I guess we're gonna have to We're gonna have to
- 1:34Speaker 1: rein check that for next year. At some stage we
- 1:37Speaker 1: will talk about the game, but I will ask you
- 1:39Speaker 1: one question before we do so, and what's it like
- 1:42Speaker 1: working with this team? Do you enjoy it?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Oh? My goodness, Michael, listen, it's it's a dream come
- 1:47Speaker 2: true for me. You know, growing up in southwestern Pennsylvania,
- 1:50Speaker 2: you know, near Pittsburgh. I grew up like thirty minutes
- 1:52Speaker 2: outside of the Pittsburgh area, so you know, steal our
- 1:55Speaker 2: fam my whole life, specifically where we are right now
- 1:58Speaker 2: in the trope too. As a kid, I used to
- 2:00Speaker 2: go up to training camp and you know that was
- 2:03Speaker 2: probably around the early to mid nineties, right, so a
- 2:06Speaker 2: lot of former you know, Steelers during that time that
- 2:09Speaker 2: I grew up watching, like Greg Lloyd, and Kevin Green,
- 2:12Speaker 2: and you know the likes of Neil O'Donnell at the
- 2:14Speaker 2: quarterback position and Cordell Stewart who was there for half
- 2:17Speaker 2: a minute. These are all the pre Big Ben years, right,
- 2:20Speaker 2: the Bill Cower years when Bill Coward first came on
- 2:22Speaker 2: the scene before Mike Tomlin. So yeah, dream come true.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Absolutely love it. Been with SNR now for a good year.
- 2:30Speaker 2: You know, we've done the Steelers Standard the last year,
- 2:33Speaker 2: but we're actually changing it to the Steelers Report, which
- 2:36Speaker 2: will be on along with you know, your great podcast
- 2:38Speaker 2: that you do across all of our channels.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I love it and obviously looking forward to listening in
- 2:44Speaker 1: throughout the season. And it's funny, i'd say, like a
- 2:47Speaker 1: lot of Steelers fans in Ireland. I'm not just Ireland.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It was chotting the LODs from the UK today Europe
- 2:52Speaker 1: as well, who are listening in and you all you're
- 2:54Speaker 1: all obviously very very welcome, But we were joking around
- 2:56Speaker 1: the fact that last night was definitely a kind reminder
- 3:00Speaker 1: to me but time difference and how difficult it can be.
- 3:04Speaker 1: But I enjoyed it and I think something that we're
- 3:06Speaker 1: going to do ed and you're obviously welcome on like
- 3:08Speaker 1: especially any week in this preseason to do this. But
- 3:11Speaker 1: one thing I want to do for Steelers fans that
- 3:13Speaker 1: are a little bit further away from the trope we're
- 3:15Speaker 1: from Akraschuer over these next few weeks is sort of
- 3:18Speaker 1: have our Fab four and try and sort of talk
- 3:20Speaker 1: through four quick points from the preseason game. Because ed,
- 3:23Speaker 1: as you're fully aware, and any NFL fan has been
- 3:26Speaker 1: in for a while is fully aware, you can look
- 3:28Speaker 1: at the result and go great, but there's things you
- 3:30Speaker 1: can nitpick and then there's things where you can say,
- 3:32Speaker 1: well that might not be like that in the regular season.
- 3:34Speaker 1: But one thing I did want to bring up, and
- 3:36Speaker 1: you know, feel freedom to maybe out of topic to
- 3:38Speaker 1: this after if you like, But when you look at
- 3:42Speaker 1: the guy we've brought in in the second round in
- 3:44Speaker 1: the draft in Pittsburgh, Garmy Bernard obviously from came from Alabama.
- 3:49Speaker 1: He had fifty one yards, four receptions, five targets team
- 3:54Speaker 1: high in that first preseason game against the Packers, how
- 3:57Speaker 1: much did he impress you, but also as somebody that's
- 3:59Speaker 1: saying them in the trough, et cetera, how much does
- 4:02Speaker 1: he excite you in terms of maybe trying to help
- 4:04Speaker 1: elevate this offense and what potentially most likely is the
- 4:07Speaker 1: final year of Rodgers under center.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Yeah, no doubt.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Jeremy Bernard is the future of this team in that
- 4:13Speaker 2: wide receiver room, Michael. That's why they brought him in here.
- 4:16Speaker 2: You know, with that second round draft pick. He has
- 4:18Speaker 2: the athletic abilities and when I say abilities, I mean
- 4:21Speaker 2: circle you know, circus like type catches, playmaker that can
- 4:25Speaker 2: get downfield, get open, beat the defensive back. And he
- 4:27Speaker 2: did that last night full display against the Green Bay Packers.
- 4:31Speaker 2: And after the yards after catch, right, that's what we're
- 4:34Speaker 2: all We always talk a lot about yards after catch
- 4:36Speaker 2: and his explosiveness after he would catch the football across
- 4:39Speaker 2: the middle of the football field. They really used the
- 4:42Speaker 2: middle of the football field in this first preseason game
- 4:44Speaker 2: last night, and Bernard was a big part of that.
- 4:46Speaker 2: You know, we have DK, right, we got Michael Pittman now,
- 4:49Speaker 2: which is great, but behind there there's some question marks.
- 4:52Speaker 2: There's Roman Wilson, who we're hoping is going to take
- 4:54Speaker 2: the next step this year and get back in the
- 4:55Speaker 2: good graces of this new coaching staff and be able
- 4:58Speaker 2: to contribute. I think he will. And then there's Jeremy Bernard,
- 5:01Speaker 2: so Wilson Bernard the future of this team right now,
- 5:05Speaker 2: and last night I thought he did a great job
- 5:07Speaker 2: in his first ever NFL game. That was his first
- 5:09Speaker 2: first time out and as you said, over fifty yards
- 5:12Speaker 2: receiving and had a big game.
- 5:15Speaker 1: There's always that sort of thing where if someone comes
- 5:17Speaker 1: from Alabama, you're thinking, oh, okay, he could definitely be
- 5:19Speaker 1: a decent talent, and he certainly looks at so far
- 5:22Speaker 1: if we stay in the offense. And obviously fans got
- 5:26Speaker 1: to see a selection a quarterback last night apart from
- 5:29Speaker 1: Arian Rodgers ED who was not suited up, and we
- 5:31Speaker 1: look forward to seeing him in a few weeks time,
- 5:34Speaker 1: no doubt we will. Drew Aller very very interesting debut
- 5:38Speaker 1: in that preseason obviously the first of sleet third round picks,
- 5:42Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty three yards, three touchdowns, A local
- 5:45Speaker 1: guy to the States, obviously Penn State. That must have
- 5:48Speaker 1: been pretty cool for him running out last night and
- 5:50Speaker 1: actually playing there, not just but Aler. What was your
- 5:53Speaker 1: thoughts on that quarterback room itself in that game against
- 5:56Speaker 1: the Packers, Ed, they had.
- 5:57Speaker 2: A great night, and it all goes back to Mike McCarthy.
- 6:00Speaker 2: You know, he's the quarterback whisperer. He's the offensive genius.
- 6:03Speaker 2: And you know, nothing against Mike Tomlin, but Mike Tomlin
- 6:06Speaker 2: was a defensive guy. Was that was his thing right
- 6:09Speaker 2: the last nineteen years. But with this team right now,
- 6:12Speaker 2: McCarthy is the right guy, especially with these younger quarterbacks,
- 6:15Speaker 2: with Will Howard and Drew Aller. I thought they had
- 6:18Speaker 2: a great night, Michael. I think it checks every box.
- 6:21Speaker 2: They got done exactly what they wanted to. It was
- 6:23Speaker 2: a bit of a slow start early on. There were
- 6:25Speaker 2: some pelodies. Mason Rudolph took a couple of sacks. They
- 6:28Speaker 2: were behind the sticks for the first couple of drives
- 6:30Speaker 2: that resultd in punts. But once Mason Rudolph got going
- 6:33Speaker 2: and the offensive line gave him a bit more protection,
- 6:36Speaker 2: I thought he had a good game, you know, in
- 6:38Speaker 2: his first couple series out. But then Will Howard and
- 6:41Speaker 2: Drew Aller, I'm not sure, Michael, who got the bigger
- 6:43Speaker 2: ovation at Akushore Stadium. It was loud for both of them,
- 6:48Speaker 2: and Drew Aller delivered. And I've been telling people, you know,
- 6:51Speaker 2: throughout this training camp off at Latrobe, out of all
- 6:54Speaker 2: four of those quarterbacks. Now, Aaron Rodgers, I don't put
- 6:57Speaker 2: into this category because he's going to be quarterback number one.
- 7:00Speaker 2: This is his last season, as you said, So let's
- 7:02Speaker 2: just look at the three young guys. Right. Mason Rudolph,
- 7:05Speaker 2: I think he's established himself as the backup. There's no
- 7:08Speaker 2: questions there. He's quarterback number two. So now what do
- 7:10Speaker 2: you do with Will Howard and Drew Aller. Both have
- 7:12Speaker 2: been good, both have done nothing, in my opinion, to
- 7:15Speaker 2: make them not make this team. I think the Steelers
- 7:17Speaker 2: are gonna have a hard decision trying to keep all
- 7:20Speaker 2: four quarterbacks. But Drew Aller, I've been telling everyone he's
- 7:23Speaker 2: the one that's been really standing out to me at camp.
- 7:25Speaker 2: I've been watching his throws just so strong, such a
- 7:29Speaker 2: strong arm, you know. And last night he put it
- 7:31Speaker 2: all together and he made good decisions which resulted in
- 7:34Speaker 2: two touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown. I thought aler
- 7:37Speaker 2: looked fantastic.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I think you've made a really good point there, and
- 7:40Speaker 1: it's something that I would say that people listening in
- 7:42Speaker 1: from Europe, especially at the reception on the reaction that
- 7:46Speaker 1: I seen Will Hard and Drew Gett walking down those
- 7:49Speaker 1: steps it's just phenomenal. Yeah, it's definitely a tricky situation
- 7:53Speaker 1: to be in, but that's really the life on the
- 7:55Speaker 1: way that the NFL is. The decisions have to be
- 7:57Speaker 1: me and it's obviously going to be a big two
- 7:59Speaker 1: preseason is coming up on ourmind, Steeters fans when we
- 8:02Speaker 1: at the time here, if you're on the island of Ireland,
- 8:04Speaker 1: you can watch the next preseason game which was talking
- 8:06Speaker 1: about in the mid four free as well more not
- 8:09Speaker 1: in the second two more to finish off, just this
- 8:12Speaker 1: little fast four or five four. Sorry, Ed, you're very
- 8:16Speaker 1: proud of where you come from. What do you think
- 8:18Speaker 1: was going through coach mccarfrey's mind when he was getting
- 8:20Speaker 1: that bust up last night or guess it even Dockershire
- 8:24Speaker 1: and we obviously seen this family on the sideline as
- 8:26Speaker 1: well before he's working. He's busy, he puts his life
- 8:29Speaker 1: into this, but there has to have been a moment
- 8:31Speaker 1: last night where he must have pinched himself and went.
- 8:35Speaker 2: No doubt, first time coming onto that field as the
- 8:38Speaker 2: Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, this is a guy that grew
- 8:41Speaker 2: up in the city of Pittsburgh. So those folks that
- 8:43Speaker 2: aren't familiar with Greenfield area of Pittsburgh. It literally, Michael
- 8:47Speaker 2: is ten minutes from Aqui Shore Stadium within the city,
- 8:50Speaker 2: grew up there, coached at pitt as an assistant coach,
- 8:53Speaker 2: which is the University of Pittsburgh that's close by. He
- 8:56Speaker 2: was an assistant there for a number of years. Yes,
- 8:59Speaker 2: he did beat Steelers in Super Bowl. We don't even
- 9:02Speaker 2: want to talk about that right when he was the
- 9:05Speaker 2: Green Bay Packers head coach. But now to come back
- 9:07Speaker 2: home takeover an organization, very proud ton of family in
- 9:10Speaker 2: the area, and it had to be a super really
- 9:13Speaker 2: cool and proud moment for him and the McCarthy family.
- 9:16Speaker 2: You know, when they first made this move, I was
- 9:19Speaker 2: a little bit taken back, like a lot of Steelers Nation,
- 9:21Speaker 2: because it wasn't the last two. Bill Kauer and Mike
- 9:25Speaker 2: Tomlin were two unknown coaches at the time. They were
- 9:28Speaker 2: assistant coaches. They were young and upcoming. Mike McCarthy's an
- 9:32Speaker 2: established coach. So at first I was like, Okay, I
- 9:34Speaker 2: like McCarthy, but how's this going to be. I've been
- 9:37Speaker 2: nothing but impressed throughout this offseason and now into this
- 9:41Speaker 2: training camp. Very organized, very disciplined, has a plan and
- 9:45Speaker 2: now to finally last night in that first preseason game,
- 9:47Speaker 2: to see it unfold, Michael, it was a great performance
- 9:50Speaker 2: on offense, defense, and special teams. All three phases look good. Now,
- 9:54Speaker 2: it's only the preseasons, so we can't jump the conclusions,
- 9:57Speaker 2: but it's off to a good start.
- 10:00Speaker 1: If you're not going to jump too much. But I'll
- 10:01Speaker 1: tell you what, We'll take the w take the double
- 10:04Speaker 1: every week we can get it mom over this preseason
- 10:06Speaker 1: or not. I want to give the floor to you
- 10:08Speaker 1: for the final part of this, say for some here
- 10:11Speaker 1: and anah, I'll stick your eye last night watching this game.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Well, I'm gonna give you a positive and a negative.
- 10:17Speaker 2: One of the few negatives I think to come out
- 10:18Speaker 2: of the first preseason game was the number of penalties
- 10:21Speaker 2: and I think the Steelers had eleven for the game.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Don't quote me on that, but it was somewhere there.
- 10:25Speaker 2: And added that at eleven, I think seven or eight
- 10:27Speaker 2: were within the first half, so they cleaned that up
- 10:29Speaker 2: a bit in the second half. So that's one area
- 10:31Speaker 2: that they're going to have to improve on. Hey, look,
- 10:33Speaker 2: first preseason game mistakes are going to happen. But Mike McCarthy,
- 10:36Speaker 2: I think identified that early on too, that that was
- 10:38Speaker 2: a concern. A couple of personal foul calls too, and
- 10:41Speaker 2: few of them were questionable. You know, when you're a
- 10:43Speaker 2: Steeler fan, you're it goes against you, and if it
- 10:45Speaker 2: goes the other way, you're happy about it, right, But
- 10:47Speaker 2: when it goes against you, you're like, ahmah. But I
- 10:50Speaker 2: think the Pelonies need to be cleaned up from a
- 10:52Speaker 2: negative standpoint. Really, outside of that, not too much else
- 10:55Speaker 2: to take away from a negative standpoint. Another positive, man,
- 10:58Speaker 2: you hit it, you hit the quarterbacks. The wide receiver
- 11:01Speaker 2: play was good last night too. I thought, you know,
- 11:04Speaker 2: all the way around in that room, thought offensive line
- 11:06Speaker 2: did good. But let me give you some defensive I
- 11:08Speaker 2: thought the Steelers got home I think five times last night,
- 11:11Speaker 2: five sacks and they were backups. I get that, but
- 11:14Speaker 2: still to see constant pressure on the quarterback was encouraging
- 11:18Speaker 2: last night. It seemed like the defensive front, the linebackers
- 11:22Speaker 2: were getting penetration, they were getting in the backfield, they
- 11:24Speaker 2: were giving the Packers issues all night. Again, they only
- 11:27Speaker 2: had what the one score that was it last night.
- 11:29Speaker 2: So I thought the Steelers defense last night under Patrick Graham,
- 11:32Speaker 2: the new defensive coordinator looked good first time out.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Steters getting to win over the Pokers and over an
- 11:39Speaker 1: Irish mode on that Pokers team as well, and Don
- 11:42Speaker 1: Whelan So sorry but that Dom. But this is the
- 11:44Speaker 1: Irishteeters podcast.
- 11:45Speaker 4: And just before we let you.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Go, just so Steeters fons are aware, but this Steelers
- 11:49Speaker 1: Jets is early Saturday morning for us leet Fred obviously
- 11:53Speaker 1: Friday even for you lons. But it is free next
- 11:55Speaker 1: week on the Steeters website. We'll put that across social
- 11:58Speaker 1: this week. And we have got some great interviews coming
- 12:01Speaker 1: up on this podcast itself. We've got Kiandu Benton and
- 12:04Speaker 1: Nick Krbery coming up and a little second. Thank you
- 12:06Speaker 1: so much for your time.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Man.
- 12:07Speaker 1: We certainly appreciate you taking the time to jump on this,
- 12:10Speaker 1: especially when you're in the trope as well. So I'm
- 12:12Speaker 1: sure we'll talk again very very soon, and I would
- 12:14Speaker 1: entice people to listen to SNR as well.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Hey Michael, thank you so much for having me on.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Like I said, I got Irish roots, so this makes
- 12:20Speaker 2: complete sense for us to do this more than just once.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Let's do it all the time.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Everybody listening, I want you to guess what county has
- 12:27Speaker 1: got roots from and we'll find out at a different
- 12:30Speaker 1: point in the preseason in the regular season. And thanks
- 12:33Speaker 1: so much for the time.
- 12:33Speaker 2: On Thanks Michael Gas Steelers.
- 12:42Speaker 1: We are sitting here deep in the tropes in Bnson College,
- 12:46Speaker 1: sitting beside two fan favorites, lots fan favorites of Irish
- 12:49Speaker 1: Amhal fans, Irish Steeters fans, Kanu Benton, Nick Herbig. You're
- 12:54Speaker 1: both very very welcome. Kianu. Just first off, this place,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I really really want to illustrate for people at home.
- 13:01Speaker 1: You know, you guys come here, you stay here, you
- 13:03Speaker 1: live together. It's like a real family for a few weeks.
- 13:07Speaker 1: What's it like being here for training camp in Saint
- 13:09Speaker 1: Pensent College.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like there's nothing like it. You know,
- 13:11Speaker 4: you're building a camaraderie with.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Guys you might not know as well or get to
- 13:15Speaker 3: talk to as much during the season. So comeing to
- 13:18Speaker 3: training camp and you grinding together and you're putting in
- 13:21Speaker 3: their work together, and then afterwards you can have dinner
- 13:23Speaker 3: and talk talk stuff about it or figure out improvements
- 13:27Speaker 3: and stuff.
- 13:27Speaker 4: So I feel like it's a huge advantage horse Nick.
- 13:30Speaker 1: When you walk down the steps and you see the
- 13:32Speaker 1: fans and they're screaming your knee in. What's it like
- 13:35Speaker 1: both before and after practice? Because the support the fans
- 13:37Speaker 1: here a couple from around the world, it's just a
- 13:39Speaker 1: phenomenal one.
- 13:40Speaker 5: I mean, it doesn't matter what day of the week
- 13:41Speaker 5: it is. You know, the fans are always here and
- 13:44Speaker 5: they're always loud, they're always ready, that's for sure.
- 13:47Speaker 4: You know, it's awesome. We got the best fans in
- 13:48Speaker 4: the world.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I think you have an idea of what we're gonna
- 13:50Speaker 1: mention here. Obviously we got to go back nearly a
- 13:53Speaker 1: year now to Dublin and Neck. I'll start with you, like,
- 13:55Speaker 1: it's probably not comparable, but you know, you're from an
- 13:58Speaker 1: island in Hawaii and multiple islands small islands probabe of
- 14:02Speaker 1: where you're from, I'm sure, and I think it's probably
- 14:03Speaker 1: some of them for us as well. What was it
- 14:05Speaker 1: like visiting Ireland, presuming for the first time.
- 14:08Speaker 5: Yeah, so that was Yeah, that was my first time
- 14:09Speaker 5: out of country. So that's the first time I used
- 14:11Speaker 5: my passport in my life. So Ireland got the first stamp.
- 14:16Speaker 5: It was awesome. I had a great time. Had again
- 14:18Speaker 5: this er two you know, went to yeah, post game,
- 14:22Speaker 5: post game, uh, you know, I got some great food.
- 14:25Speaker 4: The food was phenomenal. I really wasn't expecting that.
- 14:29Speaker 5: No, no disrespect, but I was not expecting that the
- 14:32Speaker 5: food was so good. Everything was honestly better than what
- 14:36Speaker 5: I could have imagined.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And I'm gonna put you on the spot. I thought
- 14:38Speaker 1: it was a year ago and any favorite dish if
- 14:40Speaker 1: you're saying the fab was phenomenal.
- 14:42Speaker 5: I had this, uh, this burger with these like crispy
- 14:46Speaker 5: It was like hash Browns, but I don't even know,
- 14:49Speaker 5: No it was hash.
- 14:50Speaker 4: It was potatoes, but I don't know how they made it.
- 14:52Speaker 5: It was like it looked like a French toast stick,
- 14:55Speaker 5: but it was a potato d junk.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Was there's probably we could really sat here for like
- 15:00Speaker 1: two hours talking that weekend, but you're buying all the
- 15:03Speaker 1: atmosphere where you lines after that game not tonal when
- 15:05Speaker 1: you're getting on the bus. Was just phenomenal. And Keanu,
- 15:08Speaker 1: you had one and a half socks and you were
- 15:10Speaker 1: part of a big part of that defensive pressure and
- 15:12Speaker 1: that was a big, big defensive performance. What was it
- 15:15Speaker 1: like and what stands out in your mind when you
- 15:17Speaker 1: think back to that day in Cool Park?
- 15:19Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I was talking stuff to the boys before,
- 15:22Speaker 3: like just if I get a sack, I'm gonna do
- 15:24Speaker 3: the Conor McGregor and tell me right, you know. So
- 15:27Speaker 3: I got one, or I thought I had one that
- 15:29Speaker 3: they marked for me at first, and then TJ ended
- 15:32Speaker 3: up taking that one, and then I ended up getting
- 15:36Speaker 3: two more and we shared one as well. But yeah,
- 15:39Speaker 3: I feel like it was awesome. The energy was there,
- 15:41Speaker 3: and then once you know, they come in bunches. So
- 15:43Speaker 3: once once I got one and I was getting in
- 15:45Speaker 3: the batfield, I felt unstoppable.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I know you watched Kelly a lot of these games
- 15:49Speaker 1: in an Ashley. I'm sure at your own time we're
- 15:51Speaker 1: surprised that one the amount of stats fans that were there,
- 15:54Speaker 1: and two for me, the noise was phenomenal. Yeah, it
- 15:57Speaker 1: was incredible.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I mean I don't think I was surprised because even
- 16:00Speaker 3: only on the road, you know, anywhere we go we
- 16:02Speaker 3: got steal the trends everywhere and they they show up
- 16:05Speaker 3: full fledged and even away games feel at home.
- 16:09Speaker 1: How did you find Nick, I think your your album
- 16:11Speaker 1: matters coming to build the next year as well. How
- 16:13Speaker 1: did you find the travel and did you enjoy the
- 16:17Speaker 1: aspect or was there any difficulty there or did you
- 16:19Speaker 1: just enjoy the experience? It was always like a mini
- 16:21Speaker 1: trailing company, you guys.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a great experience.
- 16:23Speaker 5: Like I say all the time, like football has taken
- 16:26Speaker 5: me in my family places that I never thought I
- 16:28Speaker 5: would go, especially.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Being where I'm from.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Uh.
- 16:32Speaker 5: You know, made some of the best friends I've ever
- 16:34Speaker 5: had in my life forlong this journey, and you know.
- 16:36Speaker 4: It allows me to see the world.
- 16:38Speaker 5: I got to travel and do things that you know,
- 16:41Speaker 5: a five year old, ten year old Nick would have
- 16:44Speaker 5: never thought. So I'm nothing but grateful for that.
- 16:47Speaker 1: You're a genius. Because the next question literally says, Nick,
- 16:50Speaker 1: how proud of you to represent this organization.
- 16:53Speaker 5: I'm beyond proud and thankful. I'm glad that I'm a Stiller.
- 16:57Speaker 5: I've said this many times. I feel like I was
- 16:59Speaker 5: born to be heres. I'm excited to see what the
- 17:02Speaker 5: future holds.
- 17:03Speaker 1: For fans at home that are listening, obviously, we all
- 17:05Speaker 1: know there's a new regime and new management this year,
- 17:08Speaker 1: but still the same goal exists to go and win
- 17:10Speaker 1: on Obviously, how you Celem Bardi hopefully in La Touchwood
- 17:13Speaker 1: in February twenty twenty seven. For fans at home. What
- 17:17Speaker 1: is the difference being like so far in the training camp?
- 17:19Speaker 1: And so one prime example is we're having earlier camps.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Can you maybe talk to Riding some of the differences
- 17:25Speaker 1: and just how you find it so far?
- 17:27Speaker 3: The biggest difference, I feel like it's just I feel
- 17:30Speaker 3: like we're getting more more reps and it's not as
- 17:33Speaker 3: intense as of now, but we're gonna be picking that
- 17:36Speaker 3: up next week. It will, yeah, but I feel like
- 17:39Speaker 3: we're gonna have a productive camp. We've been getting reps
- 17:42Speaker 3: for the older guys and the young guys. One twenty
- 17:45Speaker 3: or something like that. We got yesterday one hundred and
- 17:46Speaker 3: twenty reps. I've never seen that before in my life.
- 17:48Speaker 3: But I'm trusting the process and we're.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Working neck and new defensive coordinator and Patrick Graham. I know,
- 17:56Speaker 1: I know at the time of talking, we're only a
- 17:57Speaker 1: few guys in the camp, But what's it been like,
- 17:59Speaker 1: you know, and sort of taking the advice from him.
- 18:02Speaker 5: Yeah, he has a lot of knowledge of the game,
- 18:04Speaker 5: but he's been in it a while.
- 18:05Speaker 4: He's seen a lot of things. He's been at the.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Highest of highs, the lowest of low's. So I think
- 18:11Speaker 5: somebody like that has character. I mean it kind of
- 18:13Speaker 5: helps mold them into who they are. And I think,
- 18:16Speaker 5: you know, a lot of us are still kind of
- 18:17Speaker 5: figuring him out, you know, not just as a coach,
- 18:19Speaker 5: but as a person and likewise with us, you know,
- 18:22Speaker 5: he's figuring us out as players and people and just
- 18:25Speaker 5: seeing what makes us tick, what makes us go a
- 18:28Speaker 5: little extra harder or have that extra edge to us.
- 18:30Speaker 5: So that's why that's what La trobe is for, to
- 18:33Speaker 5: figure that out about each other. But I love the
- 18:35Speaker 5: direction we're headed and he definitely brings the energy.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So bringing the energy and making history as well. You
- 18:42Speaker 1: guys both played in the first ever NFL doubling gum
- 18:44Speaker 1: last year, which means a lot to Steters fans in Ireland.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I'm sure we have a few Steters fans in front,
- 18:50Speaker 1: but you're gonna think to see him this year. I mean,
- 18:51Speaker 1: Keanu anav game internationally? How's your friends? Bim know we horrible?
- 18:58Speaker 4: Have you say horrible?
- 19:00Speaker 1: I think it's horriblay I think are you excited him excited?
- 19:04Speaker 1: Had you been to France before? No?
- 19:06Speaker 4: Okay I have not.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I mean load's of the opportunity and feel free to
- 19:10Speaker 1: jump in this as well, Like the opportunity to go
- 19:12Speaker 1: and play the sets and the scens obviously have Marketer
- 19:14Speaker 1: rights in France in that first game, the opportunity to
- 19:17Speaker 1: go and you know, potentially win that game will be
- 19:18Speaker 1: something else withn't it. It's gonna be fun to go
- 19:20Speaker 1: again in a broad and witness something, isn't it.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 19:22Speaker 5: Like I said before, like I never thought I would
- 19:25Speaker 5: be doing that, going to a foreign country, let alone
- 19:28Speaker 5: playing a football professional football game, So you know, it
- 19:32Speaker 5: kind of doesn't feel real sometimes.
- 19:34Speaker 1: It's yeah, because now sometimes in college some guys get
- 19:36Speaker 1: the chance, but like ninety five percent don't. So it's
- 19:39Speaker 1: it's cool for you guys to experience that. I will
- 19:42Speaker 1: obviously women be talking about the France game closer to
- 19:44Speaker 1: the time this season. Is there a country outside of
- 19:46Speaker 1: France or Ireland that you lads would like to play
- 19:47Speaker 1: and if you had the PEC one around the world
- 19:50Speaker 1: or you very much like get a dark board and
- 19:52Speaker 1: just stick it and go.
- 19:53Speaker 4: In Mexico City.
- 19:54Speaker 3: I like Mexico City when I went there, and we
- 19:57Speaker 3: have a lot of fans in Mexico and I think
- 20:00Speaker 3: it would be awesome play there.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I think just the dart on the board and
- 20:03Speaker 4: let's go. Let's go. Yeah, I love that this girl
- 20:06Speaker 4: somewhere that to.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Try and get back to art and something would be
- 20:08Speaker 1: great over the next few years. Would you a lot
- 20:09Speaker 1: to be happy to go back to Dublin if you
- 20:11Speaker 1: if it was Annoice hypothetically, I.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Think you go on a golf trip there too. I'm
- 20:15Speaker 4: a huge golfer.
- 20:16Speaker 5: So we take the boys over there and go hit
- 20:18Speaker 5: a little anybody's watching this, I.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Want to split some g's and hit some t's, you.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Know, right, just finishing off lads, And you had coach
- 20:29Speaker 1: Mike mccarthurth. What's it like working with him so far?
- 20:32Speaker 1: Because you know, I said it yesterday to the guys,
- 20:35Speaker 1: but to see his passion, his emotion Nick when he
- 20:37Speaker 1: was announced on his pass conference, I mean almost a
- 20:40Speaker 1: hit home watch now.
- 20:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think you just you go out
- 20:43Speaker 5: here and see all these fans and little kids like
- 20:45Speaker 5: he was one of those growing up, Like he's born
- 20:48Speaker 5: and raised Pittsburgh guy. So this is all he knows
- 20:51Speaker 5: is black and gold. Regardless of the teams he's coached,
- 20:53Speaker 5: I think, and the journey he's been on, I think
- 20:56Speaker 5: this is always his home, you know. So being able
- 20:59Speaker 5: to I'm back and have a chance to lead us
- 21:01Speaker 5: to another Super Bowl.
- 21:03Speaker 4: I mean, that's got to mean.
- 21:04Speaker 5: More than any amount of money or anything else.
- 21:07Speaker 4: In the world.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Dallas Colleyboys, Green Bad Pokers, and not of Pittsburgh Studiors.
- 21:11Speaker 1: That's one hell of a CV count. It wants to
- 21:14Speaker 1: be like learning from coach McCarthy so far.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I grew up in Wisconsin, so just
- 21:18Speaker 3: seeing him be a Green Bay coach and how everybody
- 21:22Speaker 3: admired him and respected him. It's my turn to get
- 21:25Speaker 3: my opinion on him. And it's been nothing but great
- 21:28Speaker 3: right now. You know he's he's a little bit of
- 21:29Speaker 3: an offensive coach. Yeah, but still when you when you
- 21:32Speaker 3: go up and ask questions talk to him, he's a
- 21:34Speaker 3: pretty reasonable guy.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Finally, maybe a sentence each outside of Hoyston and Lombardi
- 21:40Speaker 1: winning the division this year and get into the playoffs
- 21:42Speaker 1: and winning all that. What's one personal goal you a
- 21:44Speaker 1: lot to have this year to develop yourselves in the NFL?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Or is there a goal that you can share with
- 21:48Speaker 1: us that you'd like to develop all this year?
- 21:50Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 21:50Speaker 3: Me, personally, I won't. I won't at least eight eight
- 21:53Speaker 3: to ten sacks. I want to get after that passer
- 21:56Speaker 3: a lot more this year for sure.
- 21:58Speaker 4: I think I want to be Defensive Player of the Year.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I can't wait to watch his back roun you get
- 22:02Speaker 1: it in February time. And I did want to add
- 22:04Speaker 1: this one quick thing. In in Ireland we said what's
- 22:06Speaker 1: the crack, Like how are you doing? And when we
- 22:08Speaker 1: say like who's the most crack, who's the most fun? Right?
- 22:11Speaker 1: So in your opinion, lads, who's the most crack, who's
- 22:14Speaker 1: the most fun? In the locker room?
- 22:15Speaker 4: I can't go Coons. Coons is a good time. I
- 22:19Speaker 4: hate to admit it.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Yeah, Coons, I'm gonna say bench Gurni he he always
- 22:24Speaker 3: got something to say in locker room and it's quiet,
- 22:26Speaker 3: even if it throws you off a little bit.
- 22:28Speaker 4: He He's.
- 22:30Speaker 1: On behalf of students fans in Ireland. Keanu, good luck
- 22:33Speaker 1: this year. It's gonna fly in and I know there's
- 22:35Speaker 1: so many people in Ireland, the UK, Europe that are
- 22:38Speaker 1: gonna fly to Paris and get those tiles out and
- 22:39Speaker 1: you're gonna have a fantastic time. Good luck learning French
- 22:43Speaker 1: over the next few weeks and we'll speak to you soon.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Thank you for much. Thank you, s
