- 0:30SPEAKER_01: So excited.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Good girls came out in 2017.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Five seasons.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: Had a very small following, but it was strong.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Elizabeth Hendrix, Mae Whitman, Rita.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Is it Rita or Retta?
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: I thought it was Retta.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Okay, Retta.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: I can't remember his name, but the one who plays Shaggy in the movies.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: Oh, Matthew Lillard.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: Matthew.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: And it has cricket.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: Well, it had cricket.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: From It's Always Sunny.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: You don't watch It's Always Sunny.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: No, I don't.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: And everyone's favorite character, Rio, played by Manny Montana.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Manny Montana.
- 1:10unknown: God.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Oh my God.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: I had a crush on him when he was in Graceland.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Actually, I had a crush on all the guys in Graceland.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: So I in case you guys forgot, because I know I did.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: I'm Agnes.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: I'm Lisa.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: I'm drinking rose all day, and I actually started before we recorded.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Clearly.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: I don't even know.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: Garna Garnache.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: Garnacha?
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: I don't know how you say it, but okay.
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: As you can see, it's good because um She's taking it to the head.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: Who needs a glass?
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: I'm proud of you, Lisa.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: I'm so proud to be your friend.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: So season one episode of Good Girls aired.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, I did lie.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: It actually started in 2000, 2017.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: That's what you said.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: I said, I mean 18.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Numbers are hard, words are hard.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: Life is hard.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Episode one, titled The Pilot, aired February 26, 2018.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Are you ready, Lisa?
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: So is this like a mid-season replacement or something?
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was one of those things.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: It started mid-season.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: It didn't have many episodes because, uh, but to see, I guess how it did.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: After that, it was full-fledged.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: Gotcha.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: This says this is a hit.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Let's go full force on it.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: A fine and fugle.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: I'm just making up words nine.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Fugel.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Fugel.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: A fine and fugle grocery store is robbed by three masked women.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Flashbacks.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Beth, a stay-at-home mom of four kids, and married to a husband who spends all his time at the office.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: When a credit card is rejected at a bikini appointment.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: Okay, side note, I would hate for it to happen then.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Like groceries, fine.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: Bikini wax, you got me messed up now.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Uh how the divorce, just for that.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Beth finally takes the initiative to discover where Dean has been spending their money.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: Turns out he's been sleeping with one of the younger co-workers at his car dealership and has three mortgages on the house that he's been hiding from his wife.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Three mortgages.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: God damn.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: Realizing that she'll have to take manners into her own hands.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Her sister Annie works at the Fight and Frugal.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: I'm saying that wrong, but that's okay.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: And as a single mother and frugal.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: Frugal?
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: I can say it now, but not what I'm reading.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: Frugal.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Frugal.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: And is a single mom.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Her ex-husband Greg plans to sue for custody of their child, Sadie, which she can't afford.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: She works a minimum wage job at the store where she fights to make enough money to raise her daughter.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Things are a little bit more complicated since Sadie is still figuring out her own identity, which leads her to getting bullied at school constantly.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: Harassed by her creepy boss who won't take no for answer.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Boomer.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's cricket.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: I was like, she just yelled boomer.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, stop calling me names.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Okay, boomer.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: I'm a gen X, and I don't care.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: So she's harassed by Boomer.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: Cricket.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: Cricket.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: And Annie's actually the one who suggests to the group to steal from her store.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: Kind of that joking, not joking.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Their friend Ruby works at a racist.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Their friend Ruby works as a waitress and is the mother of two children, one of who is ill and needs expensive medication.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: She has a supportive husband and an independent daughter who is unfortunately suffering from the severe illness.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: The cusper The cus the customer.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: I'm going to send you all my show notes and you're just going to have to read it.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: The couple is desperate to hire the best doctors and try any treatment possible to help her, but simply can't afford it.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Stan and Ruby both work all day to earn enough just to get by.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: And even though the latter is sure that the robbery is not the answer, she ends up getting dragged into crime, anyways.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Just kick it in screaming.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: Okay, so between the two of us, who's dragging the other one to do a crime?
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: We're dragging Angelique.
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: I was gonna say, I think it depends on the day of the week.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: That's straight what the crime is.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: And the target.
- 5:48unknown: Right.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: Because depending on the target, we're gonna both go ahead like balls to the wall.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Desperate for money, the ladies row the store and make away with an unexpected$500,000.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: I know they were hoping for like 30.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: 30.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: Give or take.
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: And it was more towards give.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: She was like, I guess it's more give.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: You think?
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: Afterwards, Beth finds gang members in her house, led by crime boss real.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: They were housing their money at the grocery store and demanded back.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: The lady's attempt to recoup the money bars short.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: Annie's boss, boomer! I'm gonna have to say boomer like that the entirety of the season, reveals he knows she committed the robbery due to recognizing her tattoo.
- 6:36unknown: Dumbass.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: Like you can you'd have a shirt that fit all my friends.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: They really weren't prepared for this.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: He wants sexual favors in exchange for his silence.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: When he attempts to rape Annie, Beth overhears and angrily confronts him.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: When he threatens to go to police, Beth attacks him and he falls through a glass.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: He actually falls through a glass table.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: I swear I was psychic.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Because remember, I was like, there's a glass coffee table, and that's how they die.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: All right, it's just a wrong show.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: But you got it.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: But I got it.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: You got the vibes, you just had it from the wrong show.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: Wrong show, yeah.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: Because the spirits don't tell you details.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: The spirits just come to you.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I just, you know, they it it was just too soon, but okay.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: So the show opens up with them with Beth getting like the kids and the husband ready for school and work and all that cute stuff.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: The next scene is Annie driving like a maniac, dropping Sadie off to school.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: The third scene, you see Lisa reimagine as a little black girl giving her speech at school.
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: I was like, what?
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: That's not her name.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: It's Ruby's daughter.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: I was like, I thought.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: Is that her name?
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: No, that's not her name.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: No, it's Sarah.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: But I said Lisa reimagined as a little black girl.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: I was like, I jest.
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: That's the little girl.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: She was like down with the patriarchy.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: Oh, that you're raising your hand for permission to speak.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: No, sorry, I had a fist, but it's so funny.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: It's like black power Chevez, and then this is like, you know, it goes, it goes all the way.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: One to one, and then you just go, fuck it.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: Um I thought about that, and I was just like, yeah, that's the yeah.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: I figured that's probably one of your favorite scenes.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: She was so cute.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: She was so cute.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: And they're like, Is is no one gonna stop her with a big ass oxygen?
- 8:43SPEAKER_02: You never watched Parks and Rec, right?
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: No.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: So that's where I know Retta from.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: And she was always like, treat yourself, treat yourself.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: And I was thinking about that all the day before.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: I had no idea that like as you know, I had no idea what this show was, who was in it, whatever.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: You had no idea of the show, period.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: And all I could think of was treat yourself because I wanted that half off Easter candy.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: Oh and I was like, treat yourself, I need some candy.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: And then lo and behold.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: I even posted it, and then I was like, oh hey, I was psychic again.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Psychic, psycho, you know, potato.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: When Beth confronts him, Dean.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: That's his name?
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: When he literally correct.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: I when she confronts him, she's sitting alone in the dark.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: When he comes in, and then she speaks, and he's like, Oh my god, what are you doing sitting in the dark?
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: First of all, somebody is sitting in the dark, you're in trouble.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: Big trouble.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: When you walk into somewhere and you find someone, whether they live there or they don't live there, and they are in your house sitting in the dark, you're fucked.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: That matters.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: Just make your peace.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: Do what you need to do because you're fucked.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: All I can say is shaggy.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: When he was crying, all I can say is shaggy.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: From Scooby-Doo.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: For those who thinking it's the other shaggy.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: No.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: I do now want to get a sledgehammer.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Just in case.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: It's handy to have that around.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: In case.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: I need to smash him with shit up.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: I don't want to waste my bullets for destruction of property.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: I just use I'd rather use a sledgehammer.
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: A bat might be easier to swing.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: It's my weapon of choice.
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: I have bats.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: But sledgehammer, I don't know.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: My bat is within reach.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: I'm like almost always within reach of a bat.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: I think she was so angry a bat was not going to do.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: I feel like the heavier the tool, the more angry you are.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: One of my favorite parts is where she confronts the chick that you've been sleeping with.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: And she's very cool, calm, collected.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: I want to be that.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: That's my that was what I aspired to be.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: And she goes, you know, with your good looks and your low self-esteem, that makes you perfect for porn.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: I was just like, but you know, leave it to a fucking woman to come in, find the mess, clean the fucking mess, and then you're still like, fuck.
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: Now there's another mess.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: And I gotta clean up this other mess.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: I feel like there's always a mess.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: And then even after she handled shit, and he's like, but what what happened?
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: What did you Don't worry about it.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: Just do what I tell you to do.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: Like, like, it's so I mean, can you imagine being married to someone who you're supposed to you're supposed to be sharing your life with?
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: Like, here you are, you have a house, you have a bunch of kids, and your partner is like keeping secrets, especially financial secrets.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: I mean, how is it?
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: She's like, okay, yeah, you're cheating, but we're gonna lose this fucking house.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: Like, we could lose the house.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: We could lose everything.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Everything.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: What the fuck is wrong with dudes?
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: Listen.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: And he and that motherfucker would have stayed fucking around with that bitch, making his bad decisions.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: While they're out in the street.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: While the the court martials would have brought them all out of their house and he would have been like, oh, I don't, huh?
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: What?
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: Who me?
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: How did I know how this happened?
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: He's like, we're not gonna lose a house.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: We're my you lose the house.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're going to lose the house.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: Like, right.
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: I know it's hard to come clean.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: I know it's hard to admit when you fucked up.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: I know it's hard to admit, right?
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: If that you didn't do the right thing and you made a mistake.
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: But my guy, every day that you wait, the mess gets harder and harder to clean up.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: If you need help, ask for help.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: She's your fucking wife.
- 13:53SPEAKER_02: Like she's the one who signed on to say, yes, we're gonna be partners.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: Let work together and then you and then she'll divorce you.
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: But my guy, if you think that you're just gonna close your eyes, like, and she's just gonna stand by while your asses are living in the refrigerator box outside in the street.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: She's not gonna notice it.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: She won't notice it at all.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: No, she'll never notice it.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: No, no.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: I hope you have a beater because that's the only car you're gonna be living in.
- 14:21SPEAKER_02: If it's paid for outright.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: So speaking of beaters, we're talking about Sadie and Annie.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: Annie's the mom.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Annie is Beth's sister.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: Sadie's her daughter.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: I love the relationship.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: Like they're real chill.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: And I love the fact every time she's like, who's the adult?
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: She's like, don't answer that.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Don't answer that.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Because we both know who the adult in that relationship is.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: It's her daughter.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: It's Sadie.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: My heart breaks for her when the ex, like, yeah, I'm sorry for I'm sorry for full custody.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: And it was like, uh.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: And granted, I don't remember a hundred percent the little nuances to this show, but I do remember, but I think, obviously, it kind of gives me like shades of Gilmore girls.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: Yes, they were young when they had her.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: He went on to, I guess, go to college, do what he had to do, and she's taking care of her new baby.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: And obviously, the decision she made, she couldn't do, she couldn't go to college.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know if she even wanted to, but she had to make sacrifices.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: She's now working this minimum wage job, trying to keep her head above water.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: And you're easy.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: And I'm not saying right, wrong, or indifferent.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: They had a plan, whatever the plan was.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: I'm not, but we do see him having obviously the means to sue her for custody and give her money for, you know, randomly.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: So it's just like, hmm.
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but for me, that's all fighting that's great.
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: And that guy could be a millionaire.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: He could be, he could have cured cancer yesterday.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: Hell, he could have found a cure for the common cold this morning.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: The right answer would be to ask the daughter who is clearly old enough to make the decision.
- 16:22SPEAKER_02: Like we're not talking about a two-year-old.
- 16:23SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 16:24SPEAKER_02: And just say, listen, do you want to stay living with your mom?
- 16:30SPEAKER_02: Would you like to come live with me?
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: And if the girl says, no, I I'd like to stay living with mom, then guess what?
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: All you have to do is say, that's okay.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: And it's quite clear he really doesn't know her.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: Like he loves his daughter.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: I'm sure he does.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: He doesn't know her well enough.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: He's like, I'm gonna put her in Catholic school.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: Have you met our daughter?
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: And he's I think Annie says she's an atheist and she was a bow tie.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: Like, I say whatever it was is not gonna be the place for her.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: And I just think it's kind of money doesn't solve it all.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: But like having some, having some to help feed the kid, that might be helpful.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: But like private schools and fancy lifestyle doesn't necessarily help the kid if that's not what she wants.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: It is doesn't fit her, right?
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, everyone goes in with good intentions.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: I think is also highlights how as parents, we really do try to make the best decision for our kids and we do go in with good intentions.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: Do we always get it right?
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: No.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: Um, like I said, I don't think Greg is a bad guy yet.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: And if I remember correctly, I don't think he is.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: You know, you've been giving spoil spoilers.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: And I give spoilers.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: But to be fair, my memory sucks ass.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: So really don't go by me.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: I just know Rio is sexy as fuck.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: And that's not a spoiler.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: What's her name again?
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Ruby.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Ruby in the show.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: I I was so pissed off in the scene where they're talking to the doctor.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: And the doctor is like so fucking distracted, and he's like worrying about the stack of files that files.
- 18:17SPEAKER_02: Like a nurse or somebody comes in and he's having a side conversation with her, and she and she's just sitting there, like, you know, listening to this tough diagnosis, this, you know, tough prognosis basically.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: Trying to save her daughter's life.
- 18:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and and he's worried about the stack of files.
- 18:38SPEAKER_02: And it's like sadly, really realistic.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: Because how many times do we sit with the doctor and it's like you're just another fucking case?
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: You know, and on top of it, she's a black lady.
- 18:56SPEAKER_02: So, you know, he was like, Oh, well, yeah, there is because she was like, Well, what about that medicine?
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: And he was like, Yeah, it's like ten thousand dollars out of pocket.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: I don't he said, I forgot what he said, but it was something like, I don't think that's an option for you.
- 19:11SPEAKER_02: And like by this point, he he had come down like back to her, but still it was like a nice way of being condescending.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Correct.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: It's like fucking medication for profit.
- 19:27SPEAKER_02: It pisses me off.
- 19:29SPEAKER_02: It pisses me off so much.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: And I also I need to go hug Bernie Sanders now.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: Flip side, devil's advocate, because that's just what I do.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: He's obviously working in a clinic.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: There are I underst I'm assuming there's a lot going on in this clinic.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: This you see, everybody waiting or emergency room or whatever it is.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: And I've seen some doctors who were great doctors, and with hospital and practice policies changing, patients had to be in and out in like 15 in 15 minutes.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: And they were like, and as doctors, they're like, this is not medicine.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: And as a result, they became complacent and they just like I gotta get these in it.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: And actually, a lot of those doctors left because of that.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: Even if that's the case, is back to medicine for profit is the cause of it.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Well, yes, but also like if you're only gonna give an allotment of 15 minutes per patient, then I'll be fucking damned if I'm gonna share those measly 15 minutes with your secretary.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: With the secretary.
- 20:45SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: So at least give me those 15 fucking minutes.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Like when when we are in session, talk to me, not everyone else.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: I mean, why is that like a radical idea?
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: Why is that too revolutionary?
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: What are you doing?
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: Every other fucking country makes medicine work, and we are the only dumb fucking country that's like, no, no, it's a bad idea.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: It's a bad idea.
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: Hello, you've been brainwashed.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: How are we gonna pay for it?
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: Very easily.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: Very easily.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: I cannot tell you how many conversations I had with people and saying socializing, like it doesn't, it doesn't work.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Only third world countries work.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: I was like, I'm sorry.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: And I You mean like France?
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: And I all these first world countries that actually have it, that's a third world country.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: Are you stupid?
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: Well they they love to say, oh, Venezuela.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: And then, but you know what?
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: What pisses me off about me?
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: And uh I was angry that I had to do it, but I did it to prove a point.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: I had named off several white countries in Europe to prove a point.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, because if if it's always if it's brown, it's bad.
- 22:04SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: So Until it's vacation.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: Until it's vacation, then it's okay.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: And it really by the way, you know what?
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: I had to do this to prove a point.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: It is what it is.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: You take, you take use your resources.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: Like if I need an old white man next to me to say the same thing I'm saying to get through to people, oh well, there's this old white man.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: Maybe he's much of a good.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: across.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: I'm okay with that.
- 22:27SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: Nobody asks, people ask like, oh, how are we gonna how are we gonna pay for student loan forgiveness?
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: No one asks how we're gonna pay for PPE loan forgiveness.
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: Or the bail out bailing out Wall Street and bail or the wars.
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: And the I feel like people really love to be complacent and complacent is easy, right?
- 22:53SPEAKER_02: It's easy.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: But like shake your head, get your brain cells awake, you know, let them hold hands for a few minutes and maybe you will figure it out too.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: Like if you think that we can't afford to help our community and by community I mean our country, our people, everyone have a better life.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: People don't want to actually help the community that they live in.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: No, it's ridiculous.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: They're like, what I have to pay taxes for this and this and this and this.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: Well you want to you don't want potholes, right?
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: The problem isn't the taxes.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: The problem is the misuse of the taxes.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: Well my kids don't go to school.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: I'm so sorry you don't have kids you don't want educated people in your in your community.
- 23:37SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: But do you not No, they can't see the bigger picture.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: And then it takes and then if everyone pays their fair tax their fair share of taxes, what is it$60 extra a year?
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: It's really not that much I know I know but what the fuck do we know?
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: It's insanity.
- 24:01SPEAKER_02: We're gonna take the soapbox although I will say I will say right that if we didn't keep this dumb fucking model of making the insurance companies rich and keeping healthcare not accessible to people unless they're millionaires, then we wouldn't get shows like this or break in bed.
- 24:20SPEAKER_02: So maybe that's the goal.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: Maybe we need we need this fucked up system so that we could get good TV thank you fucked up system we have now have good TV I mean I like the good TV but I'd rather I'd rather have healthcare right affordable health care that's actually that's effective and accessible.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: Right yeah like I want to get my medicine like my insurance may not be a lot but my copay may be like out the ass.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Like I want something can we have a balance be a you'd be surprised what you could pay for when you start paying for the middlemen and the CEOs um but when red I won't do it by their characters' names I keep going by their real names Ruby after the after the heist all did their thing Ruby goes to see the actual doctor and that scene made me tear up a little bit oh when she just held her hand she goes you haven't taken a breath as you've been here and just to be seen and to be acknowledged that was powerful and I've been lucky I've had most of my doctor I've had exceptional doctors like that but that's but that is an exception that experience is an exception it's not the norm.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: And you could tell just I mean first of all she's a phenomenal actress but you can tell even just by the way she portrays the scene that she came in there ready to be to be in the fight ready to have to like you know uh be the big voice and and and I don't want to say bully but like almost have to bully to get to be heard to right and and she's in there you know like like a cat when they make their hair stand up and all that you know and when that doctor grabbed her hand she was like why are you touching me like you see it kind of threw her off and she's like you are touching me and she was like you haven't breathed and she was like you know she took the tone down she was soft and the and then she's like would you like some water and it's like a lemon all of a sudden yeah but all of a sudden she's seen and she's heard and she's like we're gonna run these tests we're gonna give her samples we're gonna go from here and and I it makes me sad that that is every anomaly I'm pretty sure that everyone watching Ruby's trying to take care of her daughter has ex knows exactly what she's going through.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: I think everyone has been like yep been there.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: Yep I've had I've had a moment like that.
- 27:11SPEAKER_02: We've all been there and we have to pull we have to like castrate doctors and figure like no this is not uh I I had a moment a few like years back when I was having some dental problems and you know for a while I couldn't afford to go so I you know the problem just got worse and then finally when I went and they're like okay we're gonna make a plan like we're gonna we're gonna get you straightened out like we're gonna take care of that like and I literally started crying in the chair and they're like why are you crying and I was like like I don't even know but it was a relief it was relief it was stress and and and the fact that finally somebody was like not judgy not dismissive and just like no no like we're gonna make a plan and we're gonna make sure it works for you and we're gonna take care of everything.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: Like and at your pace and it's like it should not be the outlier to be treated like that to to be seen and to be heard and to be cared for by a healthcare provider.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: Like that's literally their job.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: And what kills me is when you is because of this because this attitude is the norm people don't go they don't go to doctors they don't go to they don't go and then they're especially but when they do go they get dismissed and then they're like well what took you so long?
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: What the fuck do you mean what took me so long?
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: And there's a lot of layers because number one in this country we focus on the band-aid instead of the preventative right but then that goes back to access and affordability and so of course by the time people see a doctor it's like um this is a big mess because you couldn't afford all the steps until it became a big mess that you can't now ignore it's just so many things that need to be changed.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah this just running it all to the ground and stuff from scratch at this point and we have this rise from the ashes there's no there's no fixing it we just have to go through it.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: That's a very sad sad thought.
- 29:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah and back to the heist which is actually a pretty good show too um so they all have their plans the day of the heist they meet up in the back of the store because well I like hold on hold on I like how in the beginning they're like oh yeah we're gonna let's rob the place and they're like no we were kidding like blah blah blah but then you see like two weeks earlier and you see each of them like two weeks one week whatever you see all of them having their moment that it's like um yeah this is happening.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: For Beth it was the whole mortgage three mortgages like the credit card decline like all of that for Retta um Ruby sorry it was the treatment for her daughter and for Annie it was the it was the custody yeah and they all one by one get on board.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: But even when she first joked about it she was joking not joking and like Annie was like we could do that.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: A lot of jokes are like joking not joking.
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: Especially with us this whole thing made me pee on myself a little bit oh mental note Lisa when you and I do our thing we won't have toy guns you can thank me later okay no toy guns okay I might be skipping a little bit but I want to forget because you know I'm not the brightest bug in the box.
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: Boomer boomer obviously knows where the money came from right um and then by time he's threatening them the ladies know where the money came from um what time yeah wait wait wait because it's really the next I don't know I don't remember if the first time Boomer went to her apartment the second time though the no the second time right for the first time they didn't know yet they didn't know but the Okay Boomer knew and by the second time they all knew yeah so my head is like girl you know damn well he's not going to police right because even if he could lie Rio doesn't want him to go to the police and he's afraid of Rio.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: Like so you're like yeah go ahead let's see what this dude thinks about you going to police.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: That would have been my like Right because oh and my shirt is perfect they don't know that we know they know we know word right right boomer had no idea that they now knew they knew but he they knew they knew they had to guess he had to there's no way that they could know and once again friends for the win and also you're psychic.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: So I think I said the way the scene went was quite obvious for the you know it led to other stuff other mishaps but I was like yeah go ahead call the cops and when you had a half a million lot of money in your safe yeah exactly and then not for nothing he's one guy and he's not the biggest guy and any female she's you know she's not big she's kind of on the petite side so like maybe one on one you had a shot but once Beth comes out of the bathroom toy gun or no toy gun like now it's two against one how did you take it yeah how did you think you were gonna fight them both off like you you thought that you could fight them both you didn't have you don't even have a weapon he is that the epitome of a loser that doesn't know he's a loser and thinks that he is I am man they will they will bid to my will I guess I guess he doesn't know as he doesn't know he's as stupid as he really is he doesn't think yeah that must be the answer because that was poor planning.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: And I I really think he was I mean he had to be just being an ass.
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: But why does she keep opening the door for him?
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: Like she opened it the first time but but then the second time she knew and by the time he knocked the second time she already knew about the game.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: Right but what but like why wouldn't the second door why why bother but it would leave but not having this would leave us with the very short episodes and very short series we can't have our own show Lisa I th a lot of the stuff would have been not it would have been like we'd be like I'm sorry that this new show is only two episodes long but we just we we just couldn't do the fuckery.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: Like sorry we're not that dumb no that's that's terrible and and then okay can I say the other stupid thing after they all find out about the gang and Ruby is back home and she hears the noise and she's got like the whiffle bat and she's like who's there?
- 35:09SPEAKER_02: Why don't people do that?
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: But why the fuck did her husband answer?
- 35:13SPEAKER_02: I don't know like even even though you didn't know about the gang but dude it's your wife and and you're like you hear her who's there who's there then he opens the door he's like it's me.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: Why didn't she say that before because we all do it back in the day you knock on the door who?
- 35:29SPEAKER_01: Me.
- 35:31SPEAKER_02: I know but like he's over there struggling with the door and I mean if you know that your wife is inside with the kids and you hear something like that's disturbing.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: That's not something that you want to hear.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: So when you say who's there, you answer because if that was my house Alex what would you have done in that situation I want to know it was a man thing or a character thing.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: Did the writers write that because it would just led to suspense or this just men do that.
- 36:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah I mean I think it's just for the suspension but like you know to to make-dully see a man saying well when I walked in she would have known it was me right tell me what it's mean Alex so that it's like oh oh my god are they at her house but I would have first of all I have my alarm system my little furry alarm system so you know I don't know how many people are gonna try my door that don't belong here because who wants to break into a house with a scary dog?
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: But with that being said I'm not waiting to find out if I can't I'm I'm going to a window I'm gonna look and I'm getting a weapon and you might not make it two steps because I'm not waiting I'm I'm gonna use the element of surprise like because that be one it's your safety on your kneecaps your children's slat your your children's safety your safety and also there's a lot of shit that we have not worked through in therapy that we need to get out ultimately that's what the yeah like I might not hit you on the head because just in case I'm wrong but your meat your kneecaps might be gone.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah I'm and if I and if I'm not wrong I don't want to end it too soon.
- 37:25SPEAKER_02: So uh the hats have the last thing go so if you value your kneecaps you know you might not want to walk into the house unannounced especially when somebody's like who's there and you want to stay fucking silent your silence gets you broken kneecaps.
- 37:42SPEAKER_02: Well you're missing a pinky toe depending whose house you walk in oh well I've got a bet.
- 37:48SPEAKER_02: I don't have a gun so it's the kneecaps.
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: She shot my pinky he shot my pinky toe I know if I had a gun I might shoot you in the dick.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: I would like but if it's my husband you need a new plan.
- 38:05SPEAKER_01: Stop from the bottom work, you know, yeah.
- 38:07SPEAKER_02: Alright I could do the foot.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah I'll shoot you in the ankle you know how it feels well if you shoot somebody in the foot it's gonna make it hard for them to chase after you also so you gotta go for the leg and the foot.
- 38:17SPEAKER_02: It's and oh and it's fun.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: Just I'm uh well that took a turn I do one of those things I have I am healed but I'm not fat healed.
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: Okay water.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: You have any hot takes about the overall show like how do you feel do you love it?
- 38:37SPEAKER_01: Do you hate it?
- 38:38SPEAKER_02: Are you gonna Well I actually this was the show that I was thinking of.
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: Because you kept going back and forth like it like text after text like is it the show not a show same text you went back and forth like three times.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: Well so when I when I first saw the thing it said 2021 and I was like oh no this is definitely not the show I was thinking of because when I when I went to put it on it's on Netflix and I swear to God Netflix said 2021 and I was like oh this is definitely not the show I was thinking of because I remember it being older because I moved in 2020 and I I remember I feel like I remember seeing commercials and stuff when we were living in the other place.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: So that's why I was like oh like I guess it's not that show and then I put it on and I'm like no I think this is the show and I remember thinking like oh okay that looks like something I might watch but then I don't know I never watched it so uh I don't necessarily have a hot take just I'm in for now um even though I I hate it so much but I hate it more than you hated Lost.
- 39:54SPEAKER_02: Like I just I hate it.
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna no I'm just kidding.
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: Frustation she loves it.
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: She hates the fact that she likes the show.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: She I don't I will say I don't love it.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: Dude you love me though yeah but it I I'm like I would watch it.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: If if if even if it wasn't for the podcast and I put on the first episode unless there was something else that I really really wanted to watch like if there was an episode of Law and Order um I wouldn't change the channel I would leave it.
- 40:25SPEAKER_02: I would just let it play until and then no one meet once once I watch like two or three episodes I'll probably like in or out completely.
- 40:33SPEAKER_02: You'll make a decision I'll have to finish it now.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah unless I absolutely hate it I'll I'll I'll have to finish it thank God yeah I like to see things through and it's fun I look depending on the situation like if it really doesn't I'm okay walking away with something unfinished like TV shows people relationships I'm okay with walking away well relationships for my needs this doesn't suit me right now I'm walking away as you know on the personal side there there are relationships that Lisa's very okay with walking the fuck away I was like oh you don't oh you you you have something to say and you didn't want to say it to me and you thought that you were just gonna okay peace I ain't f I'm not chasing bye you'll come back so if I'm not here next season you know what happens if I'm not here for the next episode we'll see I'm I'm the kind of person that I am your friend and if you're you're my friend and I'm your friend I am your friend and I may not be like I may not be the one that calls you every week I may not be the one that texts you all the time but if I got your back I got your back if you need a book and Basher call Lisa.
- 41:57SPEAKER_02: Absolutely and and Agnes knows there I have gotten out of my bed and traveled in the night to help people when they call and I'm there no questions asked.
- 42:12SPEAKER_02: But when you turn that corner and you decide that you're you didn't like something that I did because and it whatever that's fine.
- 42:24SPEAKER_02: See you later or never that is just fine.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: Don't call back because I'm not coming she's harsh that's kinda sexy I'm um is especially if I didn't do anything wrong and like a simple little disagreement or something this like instead of talking to me about it you've decided that you were just gonna get all up in your feelings and act like okay enjoy your feelings by I don't know maybe I am a bad friend because it's happened with more than one person but bye okay bye I don't feel bad about it and you're frozen it's so funny you're frozen and I can hear you talking but your face was frozen.
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: Oh but it did freeze on a good picture of you.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: Oh I guess I'll see it in the recording in the playback yeah it was it was really good there was two of them yeah two f two frozen and you're just like yeah good I appreciate them I like looking at you Lisa and my purple lipstick you're welcome it's called material girl very very I like it thank you very carefully I don't I don't ever get a chance to wear my purple lipstick why don't you I don't know I'm a plain girl yeah it's not like you're going out to work at I barely even wear clothes to work never wear makeup oh man I if if you're from my job and you're hearing this I nope I get dressed every day every day I put on clothes uh huh at least from the waist up oh such a pipe dream of mine do you have hot takes my biggest hot take was going to be actually at the
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: End of recording this episode, my biggest hot take is that this is going to be very difficult to um not do spoilers.
- 44:38SPEAKER_01: It's a it's a hard to be in this hard.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: And I think the only my only saving grace is that I don't remember shit.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: So hopefully that would help me.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Hopefully that would help.
- 44:54SPEAKER_02: See, you not remembering things helps me if I slip on the spoiler.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, but it's not the other way around.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: Well, in the sense that I won't remember, I won't remember things that happened because I watched it during the initial airing.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: I haven't watched it since.
- 45:13SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: So hopefully I don't remember enough where I won't spoil the appearance.
- 45:18SPEAKER_02: I'm excited for you though to have to remember to be like, oh no.
- 45:23SPEAKER_02: Because there were so many times, like when we were doing Lost, that's something, you know, in the scene.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: And I want to be like, oh, this is oh, this is gonna be important later.
- 45:37SPEAKER_01: I think you had a harder job.
- 45:39SPEAKER_01: You absolutely had a harder job with Lost than I think I will with this show, because not everything is so yeah, red string.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: Your job was significantly harder.
