SPEAKER_01: Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sassin Sips, the podcast, where we drink and we dish and we watch and we rewatch and and we drink.
• 0:23
  SPEAKER_01: We are your hosts.
• 0:24
  SPEAKER_01: I'm Lisa.
• 0:25
  SPEAKER_00: And I'm Brittany.
• 0:27
  SPEAKER_01: And welcome.
• 0:30
  SPEAKER_00: Hello, hello.
• 0:31
  SPEAKER_01: Hello, hello.
• 0:32
SPEAKER_01: So as you guys know, uh scheduling has been a bit difficult lately.
• 0:39
SPEAKER_00: There's there's just so much going on, but um we we weren't able to get you that episode last week, but in the meantime, we are gonna have to go down to uh every other week schedule just until things you know, just just so the kids at work can get their shit together and then I can record more often.
• 1:01
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because these kids are too needy right now and I have to do extra stuff.
• 1:04
SPEAKER_00: And like I love doing the extra stuff, but I also love taking just a little bit of time for me and doing this because I enjoy this sleeping, yeah.
• 1:12
  SPEAKER_00: Sleeping too.
• 1:13
SPEAKER_00: I would have loved to catch up on sleep.
• 1:15
SPEAKER_00: I would love for kids to not come to school with COVID and infect their teacher.
• 1:20
  SPEAKER_00: Right, right, yeah.
• 1:21
SPEAKER_00: So when all that dies down a little bit, um, I would have loved to go back to recording.
• 1:27
  SPEAKER_00: Definitely, definitely.
• 1:28
SPEAKER_01: But for now, I mean just to keep some semblance of a schedule, but without imposing too much, you know, we'll we'll just we'll see how this works, and you know, for like the next few weeks or whatever.
• 1:45
SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, I think that's it for like housekeeping.
• 1:48
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, we're halfway through season one, we're on episode eight.
• 1:53
  SPEAKER_00: Crosserats.
• 1:54
  unknown: Yeah.
• 1:55
SPEAKER_00: Now we already know why this episode's called crosserats because it was referenced in last episode.
• 2:01
SPEAKER_00: So we're just pretty much continuing on in our story, which is what we were talking about prior to this episode in the pre-show.
• 2:08
  SPEAKER_00: Yes, yeah.
• 2:09
SPEAKER_01: So oh, I want you okay.
• 2:13
SPEAKER_01: So usually what happens is during the week I'll I'll write up some notes about the the ops, the the episode, and um it's just kind of like a simple synopsis of what's going on so that we can more or less get it like chronologically correct.
• 2:34
SPEAKER_01: And then like sometimes I'll put my notes um and then we Google Doc it.
• 2:38
SPEAKER_01: So when I signed in, I'm like, what is this?
• 2:43
  SPEAKER_03: It's my homework.
• 2:44
  SPEAKER_01: I know.
• 2:45
SPEAKER_01: And like not only does Billy have 17 L's, but you put but you put like new stuff, and and I was like, what is this?
• 2:53
SPEAKER_01: And then you explained, and I love it.
• 2:55
SPEAKER_01: So you wanna you wanna talk about that?
• 2:58
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I was telling Lisa that um I've been dabbling with other podcasts, like other show podcasts, which I love our concept, I love listening to our concept, and I was getting some ideas, and I was thinking, like, how can this apply to our show?
• 3:15
SPEAKER_00: And so basically, I'd love to point out like all the dumb features without elaborating too much on them.
• 3:21
SPEAKER_00: Like, for example, in this episode, there is a line that I remember watching this episode for the first time in a while the other night.
• 3:29
SPEAKER_00: Um, so like it was my first rewatch because I watched this episode three times now.
• 3:33
SPEAKER_00: Um, four times, including the original one.
• 3:37
SPEAKER_00: But when I heard this one line, I was like putting clothes away in my closet and I was like, what?
• 3:42
SPEAKER_00: And I stopped what I was doing, and I was like, Whoa, that's fucked up.
• 3:46
SPEAKER_00: And so that line would be considered a quote that got us fit six feet under, something that floored me to death.
• 3:54
SPEAKER_00: And we're also gonna start doing something.
• 3:56
SPEAKER_00: Well, we'll try it in this episode called Grave Digger of the Week.
• 3:59
SPEAKER_00: Now, think about what a grave digger is, because we have a couple throughout this series that keep digging their hole and digging their hole deeper and deeper.
• 4:08
SPEAKER_00: And I feel like they're worth mentioning just a little bit.
• 4:12
SPEAKER_01: I like that you wrote duty head.
• 4:14
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah.
• 4:15
SPEAKER_00: No, we'll definitely talk about this, and we'll bring these back up when we actually get to them within the episode.
• 4:21
SPEAKER_00: So we'll talk about the duty head.
• 4:25
SPEAKER_00: Trying to think about something to call her, and I was like, she's not even like a weenie, she's just a duty head.
• 4:32
SPEAKER_00: She doesn't deserve the title of a weenie, but we'll get there.
• 4:36
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 4:37
  SPEAKER_00: So episode eight crossroads.
• 4:39
SPEAKER_00: This episode opens on three women partying in a limo on behalf of one of them dumping their man.
• 4:44
SPEAKER_00: The party comes to an abrupt end when she sticks her head out the sunroof window yelling, I'm the king of the world, only to have her head bashed in by like a Con Edison, like yeah, like a bucket thing.
• 4:57
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the bucket thing that they stand in, and it was being lowered.
• 5:01
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
• 5:03
  SPEAKER_01: For some strange reason.
• 5:05
SPEAKER_00: And the glasses were clinking, and the champagne was being poured, and I will survive was being played in the background of this limo.
• 5:12
SPEAKER_00: And her friends were like, get down, you shouldn't be standing up there.
• 5:16
SPEAKER_00: Like they were like, yo yo, you're taking it too far, and then boom.
• 5:21
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they were covered in her blood.
• 5:24
SPEAKER_00: Yep, and we have this episode's unfortunate victim.
• 5:28
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, I actually thought that her head was gonna be like rolling down the street, so I was I was surprised when it was when it was just bashed in.
• 5:38
SPEAKER_00: You know, does didn't it look like an alien head?
• 5:41
SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, I was just staring at it for a bit and I was like, this is uh too realistic, but not realistic enough.
• 5:49
SPEAKER_01: Wait, I we forgot something.
• 5:52
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes.
• 5:54
  SPEAKER_01: What are we drinking?
• 5:56
  SPEAKER_01: I know what I'm drinking.
• 5:58
  SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm drinking my yellowtail.
• 6:00
SPEAKER_00: You are drinking your yellowtail, and it's a work night for me, so I'm drinking hot chocolate, and I'm hoping that it does what it's supposed to do, which is make me a little happy.
• 6:09
SPEAKER_01: You gotta you gotta put a little peppermint schnapps in it.
• 6:12
SPEAKER_00: You know, I was thinking about that, and I was thinking that the next time I go to the like a store that I pick up like a little bottle and just do like a little splash with the artist when I worked for a coffee company, um yeah, we used to do that.
• 6:28
  SPEAKER_00: That's really cool, actually.
• 6:30
SPEAKER_01: We used to drink behind the counter.
• 6:33
  SPEAKER_00: Are you serious?
• 6:34
  SPEAKER_00: That's so cool, yeah.
• 6:36
SPEAKER_01: And then um, we we also had these blended drinks, and I don't want to say the name because I don't want to be like, you know, yeah.
• 6:43
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
• 6:43
SPEAKER_01: Um, but we used to put a little bit of rum in it.
• 6:47
SPEAKER_00: Whoa, like the vanilla bean one.
• 6:51
  SPEAKER_01: Well, that one too.
• 6:53
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can see it in like that or like the mocha or something.
• 6:58
  SPEAKER_00: That is so cool.
• 6:59
  SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
• 7:00
SPEAKER_00: Because I never thought about it like that.
• 7:02
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no.
• 7:02
SPEAKER_01: That and then, like, you know, so like if if we closed at like 10 o'clock, so starting at like nine o'clock when it kind of deadened down, and we'd start making ourselves a couple of drinks, and then cleanup was a lot more fun.
• 7:18
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, no, no, no, for sure.
• 7:20
SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's like kind of cute, but also like lucky dangerous, like cleaning coffee makers and shit.
• 7:25
  SPEAKER_01: Eh, I mean, we weren't drunk.
• 7:27
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah.
• 7:29
SPEAKER_01: You know, we we've we were never drunk, I can say that.
• 7:32
SPEAKER_01: But you know, we would have had like one or two drinks just to be a little silly and have a little fun, and you know, like who wants to be cleaning shit up at 11 o'clock, mopping floors, so cleaning toilets and whatnot.
• 7:46
SPEAKER_00: That's yeah, really cute that you guys did that.
• 7:49
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but the peppermint schnapps and the hot chocolate, that one was my favorite.
• 7:53
SPEAKER_00: That sounds like a move when we get into season two, and it's like the winter, okay.
• 7:58
SPEAKER_00: Like the winter, winter, you know.
• 8:00
  SPEAKER_00: Okay, don't holiday winter.
• 8:02
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we could do that.
• 8:03
  SPEAKER_01: That sounds yummy.
• 8:05
  SPEAKER_00: Ooh.
• 8:06
SPEAKER_01: So anyway, you're giving me cupcake ideas too.
• 8:10
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
• 8:12
  SPEAKER_00: Yo, wait, hold on.
• 8:13
SPEAKER_00: No, you know, like the the mini mini marshmallows thing.
• 8:17
  SPEAKER_01: I got a bag, I just bought a bag.
• 8:19
SPEAKER_00: Oh, no, not the mini ones, like the extra mini ones that they have.
• 8:22
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, like think about that.
• 8:24
SPEAKER_00: Like sprinkled up that with like a little bit of like powder sugar, like snow.
• 8:28
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, stop.
• 8:29
SPEAKER_01: Okay, I was trying, I was kind of fucking around with um, I was trying to think of like fall cupcake flavors, and I was thinking like apple cider.
• 8:45
SPEAKER_01: So I was like, okay, well, apple cinnamon goes well, right?
• 8:50
SPEAKER_01: And then caramel apples, and I I I make a whiskey caramel, well, you've had it, and so I was like, Well, this will all go really well together, and then either I bought some bourbon because then I was like, Well, I prefer bourbon over whiskey, but either way, right?
• 9:09
SPEAKER_01: Either one would work, and so I excuse me, so I made the cupcakes, and they taste more like muffins, like they have they have like actual apples in them.
• 9:25
  SPEAKER_01: I mean, they were they're delicious.
• 9:27
SPEAKER_01: I didn't even frost them because I was like, I just kind of wanted to see how the the flavor of the cupcakes would come out.
• 9:32
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 9:33
SPEAKER_01: And and they're delicious, but I'm like, I don't know if if these are good for cupcakes because they remind me of muffins.
• 9:42
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I was gonna say, if you like get a caramel, like let's say you're making a big batch of them, and you buy like a caramel apple with like the chocolate chips on the outside, or like the maybe in depending on your audience, like the crushed peanuts on the outside, because you're allergic to tree nuts, not peanuts.
• 9:59
  SPEAKER_03: Correct.
• 10:00
SPEAKER_00: Um like you can like slice like a little sliver and like put it like in the whipped cream, kind of like you did with the margarita ones with the lime in the whipped cream.
• 10:10
SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
• 10:11
SPEAKER_00: So like maybe like that could be a cool garnish, and I'll still have like the caramel and the apple instead of putting the apple on the inside, just focus more on like the caramel flavor on the inside, and then maybe it won't be like a muffin.
• 10:49
SPEAKER_01: Cause I thought, you know, like the apple like pie filling, that's what I used.
• 10:56
SPEAKER_01: That was a smart idea, yeah.
• 10:58
  SPEAKER_01: And it's I mean, it's delicious.
• 11:00
SPEAKER_01: It's just I can't quite discern if this is cupcakey enough, if that makes sense, yeah.
• 11:12
  SPEAKER_01: But who cares, right?
• 11:13
SPEAKER_01: Like muffins are fucking delicious, and so are cupcakes.
• 11:17
SPEAKER_01: Cupcakes just tend to be a little plainer, I guess, which is why you need the frosting because they're like just chocolate, vanilla, or you know, whatever.
• 11:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're also a little bit more dense, so maybe try to make it a little more dense.
• 11:32
SPEAKER_01: No, the consistency is good.
• 11:35
  SPEAKER_01: It's just, I guess, because it's apple cinnamon.
• 11:37
SPEAKER_01: Maybe also maybe it's it reminds me of a muffin rather than it tastes like a muffin.
• 11:42
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
• 11:43
SPEAKER_01: I don't know what I'm talking about right now.
• 11:46
SPEAKER_00: All I know is that now I want a muffin.
• 11:48
SPEAKER_01: Well, I I have plenty of these.
• 11:51
SPEAKER_01: I was gonna call them muff cakes, but like that doesn't sound well.
• 11:58
  SPEAKER_00: I think that's Brenda's new nickname.
• 12:03
SPEAKER_01: I mean, what would you call the cross between a muffin and a cupcake?
• 12:07
  SPEAKER_01: A cupfin?
• 12:09
SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say a cup muff.
• 12:12
SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think muff cakes is the best one.
• 12:15
  SPEAKER_00: I like muff cakes.
• 12:18
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, a muff cake.
• 12:20
SPEAKER_01: I didn't I didn't frost them because I just was like, I don't even know what to do with this, but yeah.
• 12:27
SPEAKER_01: But when I have uh my dad and my aunt, I'll just be like, here, taste these.
• 12:31
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, be like, this is for breakfast tomorrow.
• 12:34
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there you go.
• 12:35
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, taste this, see what you see what you think.
• 12:38
SPEAKER_01: Is it is it what percent muffin and what percent cupcake?
• 12:42
SPEAKER_00: Leave like a little survey, like fill this out.
• 12:46
SPEAKER_00: Yes, I have to leave them cards so they can fill out fill this out and get three weeks free of what's that grocery service called?
• 12:54
  SPEAKER_00: HelloFresh.
• 12:54
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, HelloFresh.
• 12:55
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, every can order for like anything online.
• 12:57
SPEAKER_00: They're like, here's 10 weeks free at HelloFresh, but also you have to pay for the first 12 weeks.
• 13:03
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like I don't want this, I'm okay.
• 13:06
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm good.
• 13:07
  SPEAKER_01: Thanks.
• 13:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, give them that after the survey.
• 13:10
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think that those services are like really nice if you're like two people, but when you're a family of five, they don't really work.
• 13:19
SPEAKER_01: We tried, we tried the blue apron, and the the food was fine, it you know, it wasn't anything like that, but it just it's like two, I think four or six, and and it's expensive after a while.
• 13:33
SPEAKER_00: So I was gonna say, like maybe two people who really just don't want to try looking up the recipe.
• 13:42
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 13:43
SPEAKER_01: But also because excuse me, it sends you everything that you need, it's already pre-portioned, so it's you know, think about it.
• 13:51
SPEAKER_01: If you're if you and your partner um are working and you don't have a lot of time, then that's so helpful because it's much better quality than fast food, similar price as fast food, if you think about it.
• 14:10
SPEAKER_01: And you know, it's healthier and you're doing it at home, so you're saving money as opposed to going out, but but when it's a family, it's just not for for my budget, it's not practical to do every night.
• 14:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was gonna say maybe like once as a treat, but that's not like a sustainable thing.
• 14:30
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, at the moment, at least.
• 14:32
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but yeah.
• 14:36
SPEAKER_01: Okay, so I interrupted because I didn't announce my wine, but I'm done now.
• 14:43
SPEAKER_00: That's okay, and so now we cut to Nate.
• 14:46
  SPEAKER_00: Sunless.
• 14:47
SPEAKER_00: Oh, whoa, wow, that fake peppermint schnaps really hit me.
• 14:52
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but he is kind of sunless anyway, so yeah, he's sunless, he's topless, and he's sunbathing while he's supposed to be studying for the funeral director's exam.
• 15:02
SPEAKER_00: And David arrives in a suit to berade him.
• 15:06
SPEAKER_00: We learn that there's a body drought as Dave quizzes Nate, and this was a just a classic, like type B meets the type stick in the A.
• 15:16
  unknown: Yeah.
• 15:17
SPEAKER_00: Like that's really what David is.
• 15:20
  SPEAKER_00: He's like a type, he's not a type A, he's a type stick in the eye.
• 15:24
SPEAKER_00: And he's just so tightly wound up.
• 15:26
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
• 15:27
SPEAKER_00: I thought it was really cute when I wrote it, but but um they're talking about the great drought of 84 when like they lost business for a while and what uh Nate Sr.
• 15:37
  SPEAKER_00: had done.
• 15:38
SPEAKER_00: Um, and then David, like David was really just talking about like his dad and like making a joke about it.
• 15:44
SPEAKER_00: And Nate, like you could tell that like Nate did not know his dad the way that David did.
• 15:48
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so David over jealousy didn't know that side of him.
• 15:52
  SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
• 15:52
SPEAKER_00: Oh no, no, that's okay.
• 15:54
SPEAKER_00: Like he it's like I don't know if it's jealousy or if it's like regret that he never had a chance to learn that side, or he didn't try hard enough to learn that side.
• 16:04
SPEAKER_01: I think it might be both.
• 16:06
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because sometimes it seems like jealousy, and sometimes it seems like regret, you know.
• 16:13
SPEAKER_01: And I mean, I'm I'm sure he probably assumes he had more time.
• 16:20
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, ew.
• 16:22
SPEAKER_00: Don't we all ew anyway?
• 16:25
  SPEAKER_00: Brenda tries calling.
• 16:28
  SPEAKER_00: I can't read.
• 16:29
SPEAKER_00: I did this today in class.
• 16:30
SPEAKER_00: We're reading Stone Fox, and and then we're talking about the heavy discrimination in the book as we're reading it, and um every single line I read I kept messing up on.
• 16:40
SPEAKER_00: I have like a kid on Zoom too, and I know her mom's listening at home, and I was like, I'm sorry guys, I can't read today.
• 16:46
SPEAKER_00: Um Brenda Call is trying to excuse her absence for the last few days, and we find out that like Brenda and Nate haven't spoken for like six days, and they're like dating.
• 16:55
SPEAKER_00: Like, who doesn't talk to their significant other for a few days just cuz?
• 16:59
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and the last thing that we saw in the last episode was her telling him to go to the desert without her and forget everything.
• 17:08
SPEAKER_01: And so I remember like, did they break up?
• 17:11
SPEAKER_01: Did what what's you know, it was a huge question for me.
• 17:14
SPEAKER_01: So for me, this answered okay, well, they don't seem to have broken up, but they're not in a good place, yeah, yeah.
• 17:26
SPEAKER_01: So I don't really like at that point, we still don't really know the gist of it.
• 17:32
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and Brenda tells Nate that like she was like, I've been overwhelmed, like no, she was like, I'm sorry, not yet.
• 17:40
SPEAKER_00: She said, I'm busy with a client, like I've I've been busy, and then like regarding Billy and like his meltdown that he had that like affected Nate.
• 17:49
SPEAKER_00: Um, she's like, This only happens like once, twice a year, it's not that big of a deal.
• 17:54
SPEAKER_00: But the second time that I watched this, or technically the third time that I watched this, I noticed that Brenda was on the phone with Nate.
• 18:02
SPEAKER_00: Like they weren't together, they were on the phone, and Brenda was wearing a bathrobe with a nightgown underneath.
• 18:08
SPEAKER_00: And I I kept going back and watching this like one part over and over.
• 18:11
SPEAKER_00: It was a bathrobe, and it was clearly a nightgown underneath, and her hair was like all messy, but it seemed like it was the afternoon, so I don't think she was waking up.
• 18:22
SPEAKER_01: I I guess I didn't really notice or pick up on that, but uh I mean, I I get it what you're saying based on the rest of the episode, but I I don't know if that has to mean anything because she may she may still have just woken up, even though it's the afternoon, or yeah, no, she was making excuses, she was wearing a bathrobe, she hadn't seen Nate in six days, like it didn't feel right.
• 18:54
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I get that part of it.
• 18:56
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but we're gonna revisit this part.
• 18:58
SPEAKER_00: Uh, we're gonna talk about Rico, who's at Croner's laboratory, and yeah, Rico and Croner.
• 19:05
SPEAKER_01: You gotta say it correctly, like Dexter, laboratory, laboratory, not like Michael Seahole Dexter, like the cartoon Dexter.
• 19:16
  SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, Dexter's Dexter's laboratory.
• 19:19
  SPEAKER_01: My laboratory and DD.
• 19:24
  SPEAKER_00: Imagine Claire's Didi.
• 19:25
SPEAKER_00: That's like the complete opposite.
• 19:27
SPEAKER_00: That's like the antonym of Claire.
• 19:29
  unknown: Oh my god.
• 19:31
SPEAKER_00: Uh they're discussing Rico moonlighting for Croner.
• 19:36
SPEAKER_00: And so it pretty much like they have the body of the woman from in the beginning, which don't ask me her name because Smash Face.
• 19:44
SPEAKER_01: It was like Chloe something.
• 19:45
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know what?
• 19:46
SPEAKER_00: You guys watch the episode, you should know.
• 19:48
SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, smash face, smash face, um, smash mouth.
• 19:54
unknown: That's what I was thinking.
• 19:56
SPEAKER_00: That's a whole head, smash head, smash head, and he's like, Rico's going through, like, I would do this, I would do that, then she needs this.
• 20:05
SPEAKER_00: Like, he's like, this is his jam, you know, like he's showing off his skill.
• 20:11
SPEAKER_00: I said he was splaining his art.
• 20:13
  SPEAKER_02: Yep.
• 20:14
SPEAKER_00: And then he hits Croner with a quote, like, I'm not auditioning for you.
• 20:19
SPEAKER_00: This is a one-time freelance job, which, like, as he's saying it, we know that's complete bullshit.
• 20:24
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and he says that like he'll do the job for$1,500, which Croner comes back and he's like, For someone with your talent, that's a bargain.
• 20:32
SPEAKER_00: Enrico's like, stop blowing smoke up my ass.
• 20:35
SPEAKER_00: And I he's like, I'm not gonna leave the Fishers.
• 20:38
  SPEAKER_00: Dr.
• 20:39
  SPEAKER_00: Like Dr.
• 20:39
SPEAKER_00: Fisher, what am I saying?
• 20:40
  SPEAKER_00: Mr.
• 20:41
SPEAKER_00: Fisher put me through school, and he keeps like keep like throwing that up as if he's trying to prove it to himself, right?
• 20:47
SPEAKER_00: Why he needs to stay?
• 20:48
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think you're right about that.
• 20:50
SPEAKER_01: It's it's almost for himself at this point that he keeps saying it.
• 20:53
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because Crona completely ignores him.
• 20:55
SPEAKER_00: He's like, ah, have her done by five, like, yeah, not even really paying attention, right?
• 21:02
SPEAKER_00: And so, actually, speaking of the anthem of Didi, we have Claire.
• 21:07
SPEAKER_01: Um Didi be more like Ruth, yeah.
• 21:10
  SPEAKER_00: That's what I mean.
• 21:11
SPEAKER_00: Like, Claire's like the complete fucking opposite, and she's like literally the opposite in this episode.
• 21:16
SPEAKER_00: She's so like mopey and like I don't know, like just like fucking teenagery.
• 21:22
SPEAKER_00: Like, we see her and this kid Topher um talking.
• 21:25
SPEAKER_00: We're introduced to like her new off interest, which is now Topher.
• 21:29
SPEAKER_00: They're on that um that expedition called Crossroads that um Nate, I think Nate signed for her in the last episode because Nate says that he did it when he was in high school, and this is something that the counselor recommended for care of Claire to like grow or whatever.
• 21:44
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
• 21:45
SPEAKER_00: Um Tofer and Claire are straggling, and they clearly don't give a shit about it.
• 21:50
SPEAKER_00: Nate tries to make some.
• 21:51
SPEAKER_00: Oh, did I skip ahead?
• 21:53
  SPEAKER_00: Whoops, I skipped ahead.
• 21:55
SPEAKER_00: Normally I would separate this with a paragraph, but I put that together.
• 22:00
SPEAKER_00: But okay, and this is the thing that's gonna get confusing.
• 22:03
SPEAKER_01: Because, okay, you know why?
• 22:05
SPEAKER_01: Also because I didn't really put the Claire stuff there yet.
• 22:10
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that's what I was gonna say.
• 22:12
SPEAKER_00: It keeps going back and forth to Claire.
• 22:13
SPEAKER_00: They show her for like literally two seconds, and then it's like over the whole of the scene.
• 22:17
  SPEAKER_01: That's why I didn't even bother.
• 22:20
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 22:21
  unknown: Yeah.
• 22:26
SPEAKER_00: So we'll talk about Claire a little bit, but like really, all in all, I feel like she didn't really gain anything from this episode, she didn't lose anything from this episode.
• 22:36
  SPEAKER_01: Yes and no.
• 22:36
SPEAKER_00: She put in her steps.
• 22:38
  SPEAKER_01: We'll we'll get there.
• 22:39
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 22:40
SPEAKER_01: Because I I have some thoughts on Claire, but I have to wait till the end.
• 22:44
  unknown: Okay.
• 22:46
SPEAKER_00: So Nate has this bright idea that like they can make some extra money while they're in this body drought by renting out the funeral home as a space for either like a narcotics anonymous meetings, like for drunks and druggies, and to as like a space for them to meet and shit, or for senior dancing classes.
• 23:04
SPEAKER_00: David seems open to the plan of like the old people, and Nate's like, good, like they're coming at four or whatever time.
• 23:11
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 23:11
SPEAKER_00: Um, and so I I think that was really smart of Nate, and that was like a good um like initiative for him to bring to the home and well, their home.
• 23:22
SPEAKER_00: And it kind of works out in David's favor.
• 23:24
SPEAKER_00: And we'll talk about how it works out in David's favor in a little bit.
• 23:28
SPEAKER_00: Um, so as Rico is evaluating the corona job, smash face, smash mouth, um, he insists on using his own products, and so he goes back to the fisher house, like he wants to go down to the basement, but he runs into David and Nate.
• 23:42
SPEAKER_00: So he comes up with this really bad lie about like, oh, like my wife has like an ultrasound.
• 23:47
SPEAKER_00: I forgot my jacket and has the insurance cards.
• 23:49
SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm gonna go down and get it.
• 23:50
SPEAKER_00: And they were like, Oh, okay, whatever.
• 23:53
SPEAKER_00: But Nate goes down to ask Rico something to clean out like the the alleyway or something like that, or the walkway.
• 23:59
  SPEAKER_01: The walk-ins, I think.
• 24:01
  SPEAKER_00: The walk-ins, yes, you're right.
• 24:03
SPEAKER_00: Uh David's like, Oh, yeah, by the way, tell Rico to clean the walk-in.
• 24:06
SPEAKER_00: So Nate goes downstairs to tell Rico that, and he catches him, like taking all the shit out of the cabinets, like all the supplies.
• 24:14
SPEAKER_00: And in that moment, Rico like puts his head down on the table as like a sign of defeat, and I thought he was gonna come clean.
• 24:21
SPEAKER_00: And he's like, Oh, don't scare me like that.
• 24:23
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, because Nate is not sure that that's what he saw.
• 24:31
  SPEAKER_01: Nate's Nate's still a little like, wait.
• 24:35
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, maybe and one of the lines that actually got me six feet under in this episode was when in this scene right now, when when Rico tells Nate, like after Nate says, by the way, like David said clean the walk-ins, and Rico was like, I know you probably's gotta bug up his ass about cleanliness.
• 24:55
SPEAKER_00: And Nate says, Yeah, when we were younger, we used to play G.I.
• 24:59
SPEAKER_00: Joe's, and he always wanted to give his a shower.
• 25:02
  SPEAKER_00: What the fuck?
• 25:04
  SPEAKER_00: She was so dumb.
• 25:05
SPEAKER_00: Like that, that had me laughing.
• 25:07
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, of course, like stick up the S, David.
• 25:10
SPEAKER_00: Like, we'd be like, My army man needs to be clean.
• 25:13
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, shower.
• 25:14
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like complete opposite of what G.I.
• 25:18
  SPEAKER_00: Joe is.
• 25:19
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 25:20
SPEAKER_00: Oh now we're back at Claire doing some dumb shit on the path.
• 25:24
SPEAKER_00: She's shooting the shit with Topher, and instead of learning the lessons about life and struggling from walking through a clearly constructed path with no struggle, she's she's just it I feel like she's just taking up space at this point.
• 25:38
SPEAKER_00: She's not learning anything, she's not doing anything, she's ruining everybody else's experience, her attitude.
• 25:43
SPEAKER_01: She's rebelling against it because as her and Topher talk, you realize that they were kind of hanging out, goofing off, getting high.
• 25:55
SPEAKER_01: And while I'm not opposed to any of those things, that's not what the trip is for.
• 26:02
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 26:03
SPEAKER_00: So like she's still bashing on people, too.
• 26:06
  SPEAKER_01: Like, right.
• 26:07
SPEAKER_00: One of the last episodes, Claire was like talking to these three girls from class.
• 26:10
SPEAKER_00: One of them, the girl's name was Parker.
• 26:12
  SPEAKER_00: She's she's on the crossroads trip.
• 26:15
SPEAKER_00: And so Parker ends up being chosen to like lead the way for like the group.
• 26:19
SPEAKER_00: And Claire calls her a fucking girl scout.
• 26:21
SPEAKER_00: Like, she didn't fucking do anything.
• 26:23
  SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
• 26:24
SPEAKER_01: Like, if if this is what you came here to do, you could have saved the 1200 bucks.
• 26:28
SPEAKER_01: You could have done like it, it was it's a waste because that's that's not the purpose, you know.
• 26:35
  SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
• 26:37
SPEAKER_00: So Ruth, who actually makes a little bit of progress in this episode, Ruth's at work having lunch with Nikolai, the guy who runs Flower Shop.
• 26:45
SPEAKER_00: They have a nice conversation until Hiram arrives with jerk chicken.
• 26:49
  SPEAKER_00: He's like, Hey yo, I'm a jerk chicken.
• 26:52
SPEAKER_00: Do you want to try it?
• 26:53
SPEAKER_00: And Ruth is like really cute about it.
• 26:56
SPEAKER_00: She even likes says to Nikolai, like, Do you want some?
• 26:59
SPEAKER_00: And Nikolai is acting like a jerk about this jerk chicken.
• 27:03
SPEAKER_00: And he starts being like, break is over.
• 27:05
  SPEAKER_00: I'm not hungry anymore.
• 27:06
SPEAKER_00: And he throws his napkin down, and he was just being a little jerk, a little jealous being.
• 27:12
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because Nikolai was telling Ruth all the fun stuff about Russians.
• 27:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he even said, You need to get out of the house more.
• 27:20
SPEAKER_00: You should come to my neighborhood.
• 27:22
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 27:23
SPEAKER_01: But she tells it was like Russia's so great, why don't you get the next plane?
• 27:27
SPEAKER_00: And he was like, I was an engineer there.
• 27:29
SPEAKER_00: And in my head, I'm like, um, you didn't answer her question, and nobody asked.
• 27:32
  SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
• 27:33
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, he was it was it was a nice moment in a sense because you could see, like, he was genuinely enjoying telling her about his country and his culture and his neighborhood and the food.
• 27:47
SPEAKER_01: And she was so like I mean, she was listening, you know, she was participating in the commentate in the conversation, but she wasn't.
• 27:56
SPEAKER_01: I guess he wasn't getting the reaction he wanted.
• 27:59
SPEAKER_01: And then when Hiram comes in, her eyes light up, and he was just like, fuck this.
• 28:05
  SPEAKER_01: Uh-uh.
• 28:06
SPEAKER_01: Like, no, I rush an engineer.
• 28:12
  SPEAKER_01: Fucking jerk chicken.
• 28:13
  unknown: Fuck you.
• 28:14
  SPEAKER_01: He's like, it's burnt.
• 28:17
  SPEAKER_01: Like, chill.
• 28:18
SPEAKER_01: It's no kingali, but you know, or how I don't know.
• 28:22
  SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
• 28:22
  SPEAKER_01: If you're Russian, I'm so sorry because I don't know.
• 28:26
SPEAKER_00: It was so cute when like she was explaining what he was eating.
• 28:28
  SPEAKER_00: He's like, it's like a dumpling.
• 28:30
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 28:31
SPEAKER_01: I my my mom had a friend who was Russian.
• 28:37
SPEAKER_01: And like, don't the only Russian I I know is Babushka, a de mama.
• 28:43
SPEAKER_01: This is what he used to say on the phone when he would call his mother and his grandmother answer.
• 28:48
SPEAKER_01: And I know da and yet.
• 28:51
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 28:51
SPEAKER_01: That's that's about my knowledge of Russia.
• 28:55
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know some like Russian slang that I've picked up on, but I feel like it's it's kind of gone.
• 29:01
  SPEAKER_01: That's that's my that's my one sentence.
• 29:04
  SPEAKER_01: Babushka, a demama.
• 29:06
  SPEAKER_01: That's it.
• 29:07
  SPEAKER_01: That's all I know.
• 29:10
SPEAKER_01: Because every time he called, that's exactly how he would address you know, whoever said hello, obviously grandma.
• 29:19
SPEAKER_01: And then that was uh after that, I don't know.
• 29:23
SPEAKER_00: And then it was just a bunch of words that you could not understand.
• 29:27
SPEAKER_00: Nope, nope, didn't you cool language though, but so confusing for me as a English person.
• 29:35
  SPEAKER_01: Anyway, let's get back.
• 29:40
  SPEAKER_00: Um where was I?
• 29:42
SPEAKER_00: Uh in order, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 29:45
SPEAKER_00: So getting back to a little square dance, hippity hop with the old people at the funeral home.
• 29:52
SPEAKER_00: David actually likes this idea, but not as much as he likes the dance instructor.
• 29:57
  SPEAKER_02: Ooh.
• 29:59
SPEAKER_00: Nate checks in with Rico's wife during this time, like while David's like making cutesy eyes with the instructor.
• 30:06
SPEAKER_00: And like Rico's wife fucks up.
• 30:11
SPEAKER_00: Like, she's on the phone and she's like, Oh no, like my my ultrasound was last week.
• 30:15
SPEAKER_00: She forgets like the lie about his whereabouts, and Nate's like figuring things out in his head, and she's like, Oh, I gotta go.
• 30:23
SPEAKER_00: So, like Nate's pretty much onto Rico's shit, and later on, he does approach David about it, and we'll talk about that when it comes up.
• 30:33
SPEAKER_00: These people can move, these older people, like they made them seem like they were like old, old, I know, decrepit, look old, old, but they were like spin-in and shit.
• 30:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they might have been a good old time in the funeral home, where you know, like David said, like, hey, if they drop, like, who are they gonna call?
• 30:50
SPEAKER_01: That's I think that's when David was on board.
• 30:53
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
• 30:54
SPEAKER_00: Uh back at Croner's Rico is performing his usual magic and learns that Gillardi burned down his own house.
• 31:02
SPEAKER_00: Lisa, do you remember from episode three?
• 31:05
SPEAKER_00: Yes, the crematorium that was gonna be across the street or some shit.
• 31:08
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 31:09
SPEAKER_01: Can we talk about the term that they use?
• 31:12
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes, I actually added a note to that.
• 31:15
SPEAKER_00: They called it well, the the character who told Rico called it Jewish lightning, which is a phrase I've never heard before, but once they explained it, I knew that was low-key anti-Semitic.
• 31:28
SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, but you're like part Jewish, yeah, and that's what she said too.
• 31:34
SPEAKER_00: The character who said it, she was like, it's okay, I can say it I'm Jewish.
• 31:37
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, you could be Jewish and anti-Semitic.
• 31:41
SPEAKER_01: Well, my my point in bringing that up is just like I had never heard that term.
• 31:47
  SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I'm not Jewish.
• 31:48
SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I grew up in New York City.
• 31:51
SPEAKER_01: You you hear so much of everything.
• 31:54
SPEAKER_01: I mean, we I'm sure that if we start putting together our phrases that we know, like what do you call like epit epithets or epithets something?
• 32:07
SPEAKER_00: I taught my kids about this today.
• 32:08
  SPEAKER_00: Figurative language, yeah.
• 32:11
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we had a whole lesson about figurative language.
• 32:13
SPEAKER_01: I'm sure we could we could name at least one for every kind of race, culture, creed, yeah, which is horrible that we could say that, but yeah, yeah.
• 32:22
SPEAKER_01: So I mean we're not going to, but we could if we wanted to.
• 32:26
SPEAKER_01: In my 42 years of life, I've never heard the expression Jewish lightning.
• 32:32
SPEAKER_00: And honestly, I don't even remember it like being mentioned when I watched this episode for the first time, like a year or so ago, or two years ago, three, maybe.
• 32:41
SPEAKER_01: But I don't feel so bad because you've never even heard of it.
• 32:44
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like when they said it, I was trying to figure it out in my head, and then I'm like, wait, and as the character was explaining that, right?
• 32:52
SPEAKER_00: Well, actually, as Rico, like Rico knew exactly what it meant, and then I felt stupid because I was like, wait, Rico knows this, and I don't say it, I wouldn't have known what that meant.
• 33:01
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he was like, wait, Gilardi burned down his own house for the insurance money, right?
• 33:05
SPEAKER_00: Then I was like, Oh, that's fucked up.
• 33:09
SPEAKER_00: Like, that's fucked up in the sense of Gillardi being fucked up for doing that and using the term Jewish lightning to describe somebody destroying property for insurance money.
• 33:19
SPEAKER_00: That was really fucking shitty, and that was anti-Semitic.
• 33:23
SPEAKER_00: And I don't think that the show made it better by having a character say, Oh, I'm Jewish, so I could say that.
• 33:30
SPEAKER_00: That's well, I think apply to something racist.
• 33:34
SPEAKER_00: Then tell me if that's okay.
• 33:37
SPEAKER_01: I mean, I just I just took it as like how many people in real life say shit like that, though?
• 33:44
  SPEAKER_00: It's true.
• 33:45
SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're watching a show about real, like about characters in life reacting with other characters in their real life, like it's not a sitcom or anything like that.
• 33:54
SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, we're just supposed to be like like like a fly on the wall, pretty much.
• 34:00
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 34:00
SPEAKER_01: So that's I mean, even whether I agree or I don't agree, I saw truth in that where somebody could say, Oh, I'm such and such, so I could say that.
• 34:10
SPEAKER_01: Like people do that shit all the time.
• 34:12
  SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it's it's banter, I get what you're saying.
• 34:15
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, it was just kind of shitty to hear, like just like generally.
• 34:19
SPEAKER_00: I was just like, Oh, that's one to add into the back of my head.
• 34:22
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
• 34:24
SPEAKER_00: Um, so after they're done square dancing, David's perspective bow hits him up.
• 34:31
SPEAKER_00: And who else who else to push David's like date with this guy along?
• 34:36
SPEAKER_00: But Nate in the voice that he does for David.
• 34:40
  SPEAKER_02: Dave.
• 34:41
SPEAKER_00: You know that voice that he does, Dave.
• 34:46
SPEAKER_00: And so, like, I forgot the kid's name.
• 34:48
SPEAKER_00: I guess it's not really that important.
• 34:50
  SPEAKER_00: Whatever.
• 34:50
  SPEAKER_01: I thought I wrote it.
• 34:51
  SPEAKER_01: I I think is it Kurt?
• 34:53
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, Kurt, yeah.
• 34:56
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're square dancing, and and David's like watching and just you know, I don't know if he's watching the old people dance or he's watching Kurt, but he's watching.
• 35:07
SPEAKER_01: And Kurt needs help to demonstrate, and so like you know, David helps him out, you know.
• 35:17
  SPEAKER_00: He pulls David in.
• 35:18
SPEAKER_00: David didn't have the voice, it was cute.
• 35:20
SPEAKER_01: Well, right, you know, and so like they're dancing and blah blah blah, and then yeah, like Nate totally pimps him out because Kurt wants to ask him out, and he's like, Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's free.
• 35:29
SPEAKER_01: Like, take him basically in the voice, yeah.
• 35:35
SPEAKER_00: Like, I think he was like, David's free until then, or something.
• 35:39
SPEAKER_00: But Kurt says something really interesting that I noted.
• 35:43
SPEAKER_00: Um, he says, like the quote, old people still know how to boogie, in reference to the people square dancing.
• 35:50
SPEAKER_00: But I said, Is that foreshadowing to something said on their date?
• 35:55
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 35:56
SPEAKER_00: I just like he was like, old people still know how to boogie.
• 36:03
SPEAKER_01: Yes, but I've I you wrote down the quote, and I think that this might be uh I'm I'm not sure how you wrote it, but the the line got us six feet under, yeah.
• 36:17
SPEAKER_01: When you he wrote uh David said, You just pimped me out to that kid, and Nate said that kid wants to jump your bones.
• 36:24
  SPEAKER_01: Come on, David.
• 36:25
SPEAKER_01: I watch Will and Grace, I have Gator.
• 36:29
SPEAKER_02: And then David's like, don't say the word gaydar.
• 36:34
  SPEAKER_01: It was so dumb.
• 36:36
SPEAKER_01: Like you live in California, you live in Los Angeles.
• 36:40
SPEAKER_01: I don't think you shouldn't need Will and Grace to have Gator, but that's what I was thinking too.
• 36:46
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was like, uh, Nate, if you think this is how you relate to your brother, this is not how you relate to your brother.
• 36:54
SPEAKER_01: I give him credit for like trying and for being open.
• 36:58
SPEAKER_01: And I mean, he's Nate is is honestly so non-judgmental.
• 37:03
SPEAKER_01: He's still very vanilla, um, yeah, you know, very just plain, but he's he's open to things, and I like that about him.
• 37:17
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like his open minded, yeah.
• 37:19
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 37:20
SPEAKER_01: Like he he just rolls with it.
• 37:22
SPEAKER_01: He's like, come on, like he's looking at you.
• 37:24
  SPEAKER_01: You like him.
• 37:25
  SPEAKER_01: I have gaydar.
• 37:27
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like especially um, actually, we're like right up to this part too.
• 37:34
  SPEAKER_00: Um, are you okay?
• 37:35
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
• 37:37
SPEAKER_00: We're actually right up to this part too.
• 37:39
SPEAKER_00: Um, to talk about Nate's openness.
• 37:41
SPEAKER_00: There's a little scene that happens beforehand, but I just want to talk about this since we're on topic with it.
• 37:46
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
• 37:46
SPEAKER_00: Um fuck, I got lost in my words.
• 37:50
SPEAKER_00: What was I gonna say?
• 37:51
SPEAKER_00: Oh, Nate's open-mindedness and openness to talking with people about things that he feels.
• 37:57
SPEAKER_00: Like, did you notice that he was talking with Ruth in the kitchen at his house about like how Brenda's been swerving him and his feelings about that?
• 38:04
SPEAKER_00: I thought that was so cute.
• 38:06
SPEAKER_01: And I thought it was odd to talk to Ruth, but I guess who else could he talk to?
• 38:13
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, we see Ruth a certain way, right?
• 38:16
SPEAKER_00: But as like the characters in the story, like that's their mom, or the characters in the show.
• 38:21
  SPEAKER_00: I mean that's their mom.
• 38:22
SPEAKER_00: So Nate looking at his mom as like a hey, I could talk to you about anything.
• 38:26
SPEAKER_00: Like, can we sit down and talk about this?
• 38:28
SPEAKER_00: Like, I need some girl advice from my mom.
• 38:30
SPEAKER_01: Like, that was kind of like adorable, but and I like the advice that she gave, but we'll get there.
• 38:35
SPEAKER_00: Yes, let's take two steps back.
• 38:38
SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's take four steps back in the shape of a square.
• 38:43
SPEAKER_00: Um uh Gillardi offers Rico a permanent job in San Diego.
• 38:50
SPEAKER_00: But Gillardi's given some careless whispers, like in nine months, I could put you in a house.
• 38:55
SPEAKER_01: I was like, what does that even mean, careless whisper?
• 38:58
SPEAKER_01: So like George Michael, what?
• 39:02
  SPEAKER_01: When?
• 39:03
SPEAKER_00: No, well, yes, but like no.
• 39:09
SPEAKER_01: I think I've been drinking too much.
• 39:11
  SPEAKER_01: I think so.
• 39:12
  SPEAKER_00: I can buy you.
• 39:15
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 39:16
SPEAKER_00: Oh, no, but I mean, in the fact of like saying things that aren't true, Carolis whispered, like just saying things in my ear to get me to do something.
• 39:23
SPEAKER_01: I just read your next note.
• 39:26
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
• 39:27
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 39:28
SPEAKER_00: Okay, this is how the scene happened, and this is why Lisa was laughing.
• 39:32
SPEAKER_00: Um, so it happened more like this.
• 39:35
SPEAKER_00: So Rico's finishing up on Smash Face, Smash Mouth.
• 39:40
SPEAKER_00: And he was like, That's amazing.
• 39:42
  SPEAKER_00: Look at her cheekbones.
• 39:42
SPEAKER_00: How can you do that?
• 39:43
SPEAKER_01: In fairness, I think her mouth might have been okay.
• 39:45
SPEAKER_01: It was the rest of her head.
• 39:47
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right?
• 39:48
  SPEAKER_00: That's what like I smashed forehead.
• 39:50
  SPEAKER_00: Smash.
• 39:53
  SPEAKER_00: Smash top head.
• 39:58
  SPEAKER_01: Okay, sorry, sorry, sorry.
• 40:00
  SPEAKER_01: I'll do better.
• 40:01
SPEAKER_01: I'll do better with Brittany.
• 40:02
SPEAKER_00: Uh, right now it was like smash cheekbones, but he fixed them.
• 40:05
SPEAKER_00: And Gordon's like, how the fuck did you do that?
• 40:08
SPEAKER_00: And Rico was like, okay, well, I used Elmer's glue, dental floss, and clay or modeling clay.
• 40:15
SPEAKER_00: And I was like, what?
• 40:17
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 40:18
SPEAKER_00: That's the most randomest combo.
• 40:20
SPEAKER_00: And second, why the fuck did you need everything from the Fisher's basement if you were gonna do like some arts and crafts on her face?
• 40:27
  SPEAKER_01: I know.
• 40:27
SPEAKER_00: Which is why I followed up with the comment of saying, I feel like Rico was really good at macaroni art as a kid.
• 40:35
SPEAKER_00: I feel like he probably also ate glue as a kid.
• 40:39
  SPEAKER_00: At Lisa muted herself.
• 40:44
SPEAKER_01: Because I had to take my inhaler.
• 40:47
  SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
• 40:49
  SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
• 40:50
  SPEAKER_01: I apologize.
• 40:51
  SPEAKER_01: Good for the abs.
• 41:01
SPEAKER_01: It was so it's so random, and it's it's such a perfect note.
• 41:05
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I could see him as a little kid with his little spiky hair still being like, look at this.
• 41:10
SPEAKER_00: I used to wing a Tony Anna Spaghetti.
• 41:13
SPEAKER_00: And his mom's like, but it's not gonna stick to the paper if you keep eating the glue, as like the orange cap is in his hand.
• 41:21
SPEAKER_00: Always glue is in his mouth.
• 41:22
SPEAKER_00: Like I could I could picture it.
• 41:24
SPEAKER_00: I'm making a movie in my mind.
• 41:26
SPEAKER_01: Do you like to peel the glue from your hands?
• 41:29
SPEAKER_00: You know, I feel like I did that a lot as a kid.
• 41:31
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I'll do that as an adult if I have the time.
• 41:35
SPEAKER_01: I used to in in my last place, like when the weather was nice, obviously, like you know, we didn't have a yard, but we had the front area, so sometimes I would just sit outside and just write right into the rocks because I was like, I don't give a fuck.
• 41:52
SPEAKER_01: And I'll just sit there and peel, and it was so cathartic, it's like therapeutic almost.
• 41:57
  SPEAKER_00: You know what?
• 41:58
  SPEAKER_00: It's similar to sunburn.
• 42:00
SPEAKER_01: It is, but I don't really burn, so I gotta wait for Alex and then I'm like, Can I peel you?
• 42:07
SPEAKER_01: And like can you get a big peel?
• 42:09
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's that's what I mean.
• 42:10
SPEAKER_00: Like the peels are so gross, but they're so why is it so great?
• 42:14
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I hope you guys can relate to this.
• 42:17
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I have have you ever done one of those foot masks?
• 42:22
SPEAKER_00: I was just gonna say, I was just gonna say that.
• 42:26
  SPEAKER_00: Have you?
• 42:26
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, oh I have it, and I kind of want to just for the peeling part, but then it says on the package, don't peel, and I'm like, um Yeah, okay.
• 42:34
  SPEAKER_00: I can't do that.
• 42:36
SPEAKER_01: No, I have I have it's funny because I bought one and then and it comes with like a pack of I don't know, a few.
• 42:44
SPEAKER_01: And then I see another pack on Alex's dresser, and I'm like, why'd you take my foot mask?
• 42:51
  SPEAKER_01: And he's like, That's mine, I bought it.
• 42:53
SPEAKER_01: He bought this, he bought the same one.
• 42:55
SPEAKER_01: Like, we just we had no idea we both bought it.
• 42:59
SPEAKER_01: And he did it too.
• 43:01
SPEAKER_01: It just sucks because like you want to peel so bad, but you know, so if you go, but if you go outside, then you don't care if the little peels go everywhere because it's it's outside.
• 43:13
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then it's the whole bitch about like I think it like lasts like six days the peeling, so you have to wear socks a bit for six days.
• 43:20
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a little bit annoying.
• 43:22
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because you gotta get in that sweet spot, right?
• 43:25
SPEAKER_01: Where it's still warm enough that you can take your foot outside to peel it, yeah.
• 43:31
SPEAKER_01: But like but like cold enough to to wear socks to bed.
• 43:36
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, unless you put like a blanket underneath you.
• 43:38
SPEAKER_00: I'm thinking too hard into this.
• 43:40
  SPEAKER_00: Let's continue.
• 43:42
SPEAKER_01: I mean, unless you want to wash your sheets, because that's that's the whole thing, right?
• 43:46
SPEAKER_01: Like, then there's like a bunch of peels in your sheets.
• 43:49
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, no, I meant like if you want to sit inside and peel like a towel underneath you, and then just kind of like put it and then just put it right in the washing machine.
• 43:58
SPEAKER_01: But yeah, yeah, shake it out inside and then throw it in the wash, yeah.
• 44:01
  SPEAKER_00: Shaking it out outside.
• 44:02
SPEAKER_00: But I'm thinking too hard into this now.
• 44:04
SPEAKER_00: Now I really want to order a foot mask.
• 44:07
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, buy me a coffee.
• 44:10
  SPEAKER_00: Buy me a coffee.
• 44:12
SPEAKER_01: I think I still have like three of them.
• 44:15
SPEAKER_00: I feel like this is the perfect weather that you're referencing.
• 44:18
  SPEAKER_01: It is.
• 44:20
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it really is.
• 44:21
SPEAKER_01: The hardest part is sitting with it on for like a half hour.
• 44:25
  SPEAKER_01: The the initial time.
• 44:28
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but if you're like just watching like the show, that's that's exactly what I would do.
• 44:34
  SPEAKER_01: I would take a pair of Alice's socks because they're long.
• 44:38
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 44:39
SPEAKER_01: And then you know put the little mask on my foot, put the sock over it, and then I would sit kind of like the way I'm doing now on my bed with like my feet hanging off.
• 44:48
SPEAKER_01: Because it's wet, so just not to get the wet on the bed.
• 44:54
  unknown: Yeah.
• 44:54
  SPEAKER_01: If that makes sense.
• 44:55
  SPEAKER_01: But yeah.
• 44:55
SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, I know what you're talking about.
• 44:57
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 44:57
SPEAKER_01: So if if if you listening right now has have ever done the foot mask, feel free to send us your thoughts on it and any tips on peeling and what else we might want to do to ourselves to peel besides like glue foot masks and sunburn.
• 45:13
  SPEAKER_00: Chemical burns.
• 45:15
  SPEAKER_01: I need the peel.
• 45:17
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 45:18
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't I don't really tan.
• 45:22
  SPEAKER_01: Like I tan, but I don't, but I don't burn.
• 45:25
  SPEAKER_01: So it's like a double-edged sword.
• 45:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I just started burning in these recent years.
• 45:31
SPEAKER_00: Like maybe the last four or five years I've started burning.
• 45:34
SPEAKER_00: But in the last four or five years, I feel like I've actually put on sunscreen when I go out.
• 45:39
SPEAKER_01: So I have a bad habit of not that's what I need.
• 45:43
SPEAKER_00: Like as a kid, like I know I know my mom used to put it on us before we went in the pool, but then we'd go in the pool and we wouldn't reapply.
• 45:50
  SPEAKER_02: Right.
• 45:50
SPEAKER_00: So you know, like it would come off pretty much immediately.
• 45:55
SPEAKER_00: Um and then I didn't really go, I like I went to the beach growing up, but I didn't go like I I maybe went like once a summer, like it was like a treat to go to the beach because like the beach is where we were from.
• 46:06
SPEAKER_00: You don't go to the beach to go to the beach where we're from.
• 46:09
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
• 46:10
SPEAKER_00: Um, but like we would come to Jersey to go to the beach, but like we would go like once a year, maybe twice if we were lucky.
• 46:16
SPEAKER_00: And like maybe we'd reapply.
• 46:18
  SPEAKER_00: I don't really remember.
• 46:19
  SPEAKER_00: I just don't remember burning as a kid.
• 46:21
SPEAKER_00: I I remember like my parents and like my grandpa always used to call me a little peanut because like I would just like tan like a little peanut.
• 46:27
  SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
• 46:28
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I used to get the best tans as a kid.
• 46:30
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 46:31
SPEAKER_01: Now if I spend if I spend all day at a beach with no sunscreen, chances are I'll have a little a little burn on like the top of my shoulders and and here, like the cheeks, like the nose and the cheeks.
• 46:47
SPEAKER_01: But other than that, barely.
• 46:49
SPEAKER_01: And then chances are when I go take a shower, it'll wash off.
• 46:52
  SPEAKER_00: Wow.
• 46:53
  SPEAKER_01: I get wash-off tans.
• 46:54
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know if that's that's so weird.
• 46:56
SPEAKER_01: But if you ask, if you ask people in my family, and then you ask them if I tan, and they'll say yeah, until she showers and then it washes off.
• 47:05
  SPEAKER_00: Wow.
• 47:05
  SPEAKER_00: Maybe I don't know.
• 47:07
SPEAKER_00: I feel like after like I've been at the beach or I've been in the backyard, um, and then you take a shower, that's when your tan usually comes out.
• 47:15
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, no.
• 47:15
SPEAKER_00: You like to notice it more.
• 47:20
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, during during the summer, it was like a week before my birthday in the summer this year.
• 47:24
SPEAKER_00: I went to the beach with my friend Katie.
• 47:26
SPEAKER_00: I thought that she had like an e-cigarette, and I haven't smoked in a very like almost like I've I think the last time I smoked like a cigarette was like around the 2020.
• 47:38
  SPEAKER_00: So it's been a while.
• 47:38
SPEAKER_00: So I was like, you know what, let me take one hit, not a big deal.
• 47:41
SPEAKER_01: And then I is that when we went to the shop that sold when we when we were going to get uh margaritas and tacos and hoboken and that was 2020, yeah.
• 47:53
SPEAKER_00: So this 2020, December 31st, 2020 was the last time I smoked a cigarette.
• 47:58
SPEAKER_01: Okay, well it wasn't December, but okay.
• 48:00
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 48:00
SPEAKER_00: No, yeah, no, that was during the summer, but that was the last year that I was like smoking.
• 48:04
SPEAKER_00: So I went to go take like a hit of her pen.
• 48:07
SPEAKER_00: I didn't feel the but the nicotine burn.
• 48:09
SPEAKER_00: I was like, Oh, maybe I did it wrong.
• 48:10
SPEAKER_00: It's been a while, so I took another hit.
• 48:12
SPEAKER_00: And she's like, What are you doing?
• 48:14
SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I'm waiting to get that little light-headedness from nicotine.
• 48:18
SPEAKER_00: And she's like, What nicotine?
• 48:20
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, whoops.
• 48:22
SPEAKER_00: And I don't I don't really smoke because like I get a little case of the paranoids.
• 48:26
SPEAKER_00: We were with her whole family.
• 48:28
  SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
• 48:29
SPEAKER_00: Um, on a public beach, we were like in Asbury Park.
• 48:32
SPEAKER_00: Um, and so I was really fucking high at the beach.
• 48:36
SPEAKER_00: I was just kind of sitting there, like melting into my chair, but this like there was like a really nice breeze, but it was really sunny.
• 48:42
SPEAKER_00: I got burned so bad because I couldn't like keep track of myself either.
• 48:45
  SPEAKER_01: Like right.
• 48:46
SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I don't know because I've never ever been high in my life, obviously.
• 48:51
  SPEAKER_01: Obviously, never.
• 48:53
SPEAKER_01: Not like a four hours ago, but definitely not.
• 48:58
SPEAKER_00: I feel like honestly, that may be my tomorrow night.
• 49:00
SPEAKER_00: I feel like I need to just wind down.
• 49:02
SPEAKER_01: Well, I have to tell you though, in in all seriousness, um, I'm not I'm not a huge fan of vaping, right?
• 49:10
SPEAKER_01: Like I have asthma, and I'm sure that it cannot be good for me.
• 49:14
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 49:15
SPEAKER_01: So I like the edible gummies.
• 49:21
SPEAKER_01: Like, I feel everything is so much funnier.
• 49:24
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, my daughter's in the bathroom.
• 49:30
SPEAKER_00: Everything is I'll finish the sentence for you.
• 49:33
SPEAKER_00: Everything's so much like funnier and smoother, and like it almost just feels like like if you had something bumpy and then you made it smooth, that's what life feels like when you're so but the but the problem is like a nice peel.
• 49:47
SPEAKER_01: But then but I want to eat everything I see.
• 49:53
SPEAKER_01: Like I already have the eating habits of a raccoon, so but being high doesn't help.
• 50:01
SPEAKER_01: So it's so it's like this is this is really bad spot because I'm trying to drop like 20 pounds of this freaking pandemic weight.
• 50:12
SPEAKER_01: But what I do find though is that if I use the vape at night before I go to sleep, like even just a little bit, like I'm I'm not uh you know getting like super yes, but it man, like I sleep so much better.
• 50:32
SPEAKER_01: Interesting, yeah, and so like it just like about 15-ish 10-15 minutes before I'm going to bed, I'll take like one or two hits, and then I'll put like whatever old sitcom, like lately it's been cheers.
• 50:46
SPEAKER_01: Oh, and it's like everything is just funnier, and I cocoon myself in my blanket, and I'm just like you know, it's awesome, but like you know, whatever, who cares?
• 51:01
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Jeff's having Jeff's been living in his apartment right now since March 2021.
• 51:09
SPEAKER_00: I'm wrong, March 2022, and he only has a one-year lease, right?
• 51:15
SPEAKER_00: But on Friday, tomorrow, they're having a housewarming party.
• 51:20
SPEAKER_01: Okay, it's the end of October, it's more than six months.
• 51:24
  SPEAKER_00: That's what everybody's saying.
• 51:26
SPEAKER_00: They I don't know, they like him and his roommate were like sitting down talking the other day, and they're like, We don't have anybody over except for our girlfriends.
• 51:34
SPEAKER_00: We should have a housewarming party.
• 51:36
  SPEAKER_01: Fuck it.
• 51:36
SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, it's getting cold outside, so they have to warm it up somehow.
• 51:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so with that, um, I think when I decide that I don't want to be social anymore, that's what I'll do.
• 51:47
SPEAKER_00: I'll just cocoon myself and smoke.
• 51:49
SPEAKER_01: I think, I think my point of bringing that up was like, especially if you're about to go to sleep, like in your bed and or you know, whatever, like in your safe space where it's okay to close your eyes.
• 52:05
SPEAKER_01: Maybe for somebody like you who doesn't always have a good reaction, might be something to try.
• 52:14
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I when I was in college, I used to do that.
• 52:17
SPEAKER_00: Like we'd smoke and no, I like they didn't even have like vape pens back then, but um like they were they were literally new.
• 52:25
SPEAKER_00: I remember like nicotine vapes had like just come out around that time, or they just came to like my population of like people, um, or like more like people my age.
• 52:38
SPEAKER_00: I was like just around 18 when I noticed it, so maybe I was just anyway.
• 52:42
SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, maybe it was just like my time because I was just that age, but um I remember smoking a couple of times and then going right to bed, and I remember like having the best sleep, but then I also remember just not waking up in the morning for a while.
• 52:57
SPEAKER_01: Some there are mornings where I have a headache, but I think it's because like I slept and then I'll I'll probably I probably still put my mouth open, like you know, it's still for me, it's still worth it because I don't tend to sleep well at night.
• 53:18
SPEAKER_01: Like ever since I had kids, it's every couple of hours, like I'll wake up for something, might be to bath to go to the bathroom, or it might just be because I heard something, but so you know that's nice because then like I'll just sleep, like I'll actually just sleep, and sometimes I won't actually wake up until like four or five o'clock in the morning, and then it's like wow, I actually slept, you know.
• 53:44
SPEAKER_01: Not sometimes like sometimes I fall asleep at 10 o'clock and by midnight I'm like I'm up.
• 53:50
SPEAKER_00: You wake up like an hour later, you fall asleep early, and you're like, Okay, I'm ready to start the day, and you're like, um, it's still the same day.
• 53:56
  SPEAKER_00: I hate myself.
• 53:58
  SPEAKER_01: No, exactly.
• 54:00
SPEAKER_01: But but yeah, let's all this talk about and we're not even at that scene yet.
• 54:10
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we should have saved it.
• 54:15
SPEAKER_00: Let's go right to Nate and Brenda.
• 54:18
SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, we are almost at that scene.
• 54:20
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're here.
• 54:22
SPEAKER_00: Going right back to talking about Nate and Brenda.
• 54:25
SPEAKER_00: Nate goes to Brenda's, but instead of Brenda, he finds broken glass, like because she has like that French door or whatever, like in her house.
• 54:34
SPEAKER_00: He finds broken glass right where, like, you would like if somebody was to break into the house to open up the door knob, it would be right there.
• 54:41
SPEAKER_00: He finds a giant mess, and on top of that, a naked Australian.
• 54:47
SPEAKER_01: And then that bitch he catched her in a lie.
• 54:52
SPEAKER_00: He caught her in a big lie.
• 54:54
SPEAKER_01: Well, like eventually, because first he has to deal with this naked Australian, yeah.
• 54:59
SPEAKER_00: So it was like the speech, the scene got a little spooky, like the house was messed.
• 55:04
SPEAKER_00: He saw a shadow, and then I listened closely.
• 55:07
SPEAKER_00: You can hear a little Aussie laugh in the background.
• 55:09
SPEAKER_00: You can hear, like, oh in the background, and that's when he grabs that like statue.
• 55:17
  SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
• 55:17
SPEAKER_00: And then fucking, oh my god, his name's Connor Thompson, one of Brenda's friends from like way back in the past, apparently.
• 55:24
SPEAKER_00: He just like pops out of like her doorway naked, grabs.
• 55:30
  SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, soulmate.
• 55:32
SPEAKER_00: And he says this phrase like when he's like, Oh, you must be night.
• 55:37
SPEAKER_00: Brenda, give me the John Dory and all you.
• 55:39
SPEAKER_00: And I was like, like, I turned on captions, I replayed it, I turned on captions.
• 55:43
SPEAKER_00: I was like, What does it fucking mean to be a John Dory?
• 55:47
SPEAKER_00: Like, what does that mean?
• 55:48
SPEAKER_00: So, according to CNN, John Dory is a fish fan in the Sydney Harbor, and it's great with grilled lemon and pepper or deep fried.
• 55:55
SPEAKER_00: It also rhymes with story.
• 55:57
SPEAKER_00: So, when people want to know what's going on, or they're questioning the gosp or gossip, they ask what the John Dory is.
• 56:04
SPEAKER_01: So that's your Australian lesson for today, kids.
• 56:08
  SPEAKER_00: There we go.
• 56:10
  SPEAKER_00: Lessons from the underground.
• 56:13
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 56:15
SPEAKER_01: That's that's actually kind of interesting, and I didn't bother to look that up because I was like, all right, mate.
• 56:22
SPEAKER_00: Well, the way he said it, it sounded like Brenda give like this.
• 56:27
SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, Brenda's give me the John Dorian.
• 56:32
SPEAKER_00: That's what it sounded like.
• 56:32
SPEAKER_00: He said Dory on, and I was like, John Dorian.
• 56:36
  SPEAKER_00: I was like, that's JD.
• 56:37
  SPEAKER_00: I was like, that's character scrubs.
• 56:39
SPEAKER_00: Like, why are we talking about this?
• 56:41
SPEAKER_01: But in fairness, I have to admit that even though Connor is like, he's not really my type, like he was naked, so I had a hard time concentrating.
• 56:50
  SPEAKER_01: I don't need to couldn't help it.
• 56:53
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you start doing this, like that's what I mean.
• 56:57
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, but I heard it wiggle it, wiggle it.
• 57:00
SPEAKER_01: I tell it to Alex sometimes, and he's like, Why do you do this?
• 57:04
  SPEAKER_01: Like, just shake it.
• 57:05
  SPEAKER_01: Come on, wiggle, wiggle.
• 57:06
SPEAKER_00: Because Alex, I'm an immature lady sometimes.
• 57:08
SPEAKER_01: I know, that's okay because I think I should have been the man in the relationship because I'll say stupid things and he's just like that's not sexy.
• 57:16
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, who's trying to be sexy?
• 57:18
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean that's not the name of the back and forth, bitch.
• 57:22
  SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
• 57:23
SPEAKER_01: Sorry, my kid's in the bathroom six feet away from me.
• 57:29
SPEAKER_00: Talk about a fucking gravedigger over here.
• 57:32
  SPEAKER_01: Because I don't know, I don't know if I said this online.
• 57:36
SPEAKER_01: My other daughter had apparently a scary thought and knocked the whole shower curtain into the tub.
• 57:44
SPEAKER_01: The the rod, the curtain.
• 57:45
SPEAKER_00: Like she pulled the shower curtain and it fell.
• 57:48
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, on her while she was showering.
• 57:51
SPEAKER_00: For the third time this week.
• 57:52
SPEAKER_01: For the third time this week.
• 57:54
SPEAKER_01: So she's fine, but I can't I can't put the rod back up by myself.
• 57:59
SPEAKER_00: Please tell me what show she's watching to reenact the scene three times this week.
• 58:03
  SPEAKER_01: I I was so pissed off.
• 58:05
SPEAKER_01: I was like, on my way up here to record this, I threatened to take her iPad away.
• 58:10
SPEAKER_01: I was like, if you don't stop watching scary shit and pulling shower curtains down, I'm not I'm gonna take away your iPad because I don't know what else you need to do.
• 58:17
SPEAKER_00: You think after like the first and the second time, she was like, I'll finally get it right.
• 58:21
  SPEAKER_00: I'll try today.
• 58:25
SPEAKER_00: You know what she was probably trying to do?
• 58:27
SPEAKER_00: She's probably trying to pull the shower curtain where it like at like detaches from like the little like binder ring looking thing.
• 58:34
  SPEAKER_00: That's not gonna happen.
• 58:36
  SPEAKER_00: Unless you rip it.
• 58:37
SPEAKER_00: I mean, you put the pieces together.
• 58:40
SPEAKER_00: You just totally know that she was watching some video and somebody did that, and she was like, I'm the main character in my world.
• 58:47
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, she's so cute.
• 58:49
SPEAKER_01: And then uh Amaris is like, Don't you try to do that by yourself?
• 58:52
SPEAKER_01: I was like, I can't, and she's like, and don't get any ideas to climb up on the bathtub.
• 58:57
SPEAKER_01: And I was like, No, I did that yesterday to try to put it back, and I was like, but I still couldn't.
• 59:02
SPEAKER_01: She's like, You should not be climbing, you're too clumsy.
• 59:05
SPEAKER_01: Oh, she's like, Yesterday is bad enough, you almost fell down the stairs.
• 59:08
SPEAKER_01: I was like, I didn't fall down the stairs.
• 59:10
SPEAKER_01: She's like, But you almost did because you missed the step, but you caught yourself.
• 59:13
SPEAKER_01: I was like, That is true.
• 59:16
SPEAKER_01: I was standing on the steps talking to her, and I I thought I was over more, so then I moved my foot and then like went to go spread my foot and put the weight, except my foot wasn't on a step.
• 59:31
SPEAKER_01: And I caught myself, and she's like, You almost fell, didn't you?
• 59:35
SPEAKER_01: I was like, Shh, you didn't see nothing.
• 59:43
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I should I I can't put the shower curtain back up by myself.
• 59:49
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, let's not.
• 59:50
SPEAKER_00: Let's not and say we did.
• 59:52
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that's why that's why I was like, just come and take a shower in my room.
• 59:56
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, that makes sense.
• 59:58
  SPEAKER_01: Like you're recording.
• 59:59
  SPEAKER_01: I was like, it's cool, you're quiet.
• 1:00:01
SPEAKER_01: Like once you're in the bathroom, you like you don't really hear anything.
• 1:00:05
SPEAKER_01: No, I keep and and I have headphones on.
• 1:00:09
  SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I if I take them off, I hear like a shh a little bit.
• 1:00:14
SPEAKER_00: But you also have like that light that's a speaker in your bathroom.
• 1:00:18
SPEAKER_00: That's super fucking dope, and I'm sure she's playing music on it.
• 1:00:21
  SPEAKER_01: No, she's not.
• 1:00:22
  SPEAKER_00: She's so respectful.
• 1:00:24
SPEAKER_01: No, she and because I just saw her, I was like, if you want to come up, just walk in quietly, go in quietly, and she's like, But won't you hear the shower?
• 1:00:32
  SPEAKER_01: I was like, No.
• 1:00:34
SPEAKER_01: Like, as long as you're quiet in there, you really won't hear anything.
• 1:00:39
SPEAKER_00: Just remember that in the shower, you're not the main character of real life.
• 1:00:43
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and we're fine.
• 1:00:46
SPEAKER_01: I mean, if there's if there's any one of my kids that could pull off quiet, it's that one.
• 1:00:52
SPEAKER_00: So such a good egg.
• 1:00:55
  SPEAKER_01: I know.
• 1:00:57
  SPEAKER_00: Well, anyway.
• 1:00:58
  SPEAKER_01: But yeah, sorry.
• 1:00:59
SPEAKER_00: Talking about not a good egg.
• 1:01:00
SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about Brenda again.
• 1:01:02
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, John Dory bitch.
• 1:01:05
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like so.
• 1:01:12
SPEAKER_00: Who didn't even put on pants?
• 1:01:14
SPEAKER_01: He put on a towel.
• 1:01:15
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then what's the good reason like it again?
• 1:01:18
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, because Brenda's been out doing his fucking laundry and she comes in laundry basket and she's like, Oh, yeah, see you.
• 1:01:26
SPEAKER_00: Hey, you, she says to Nate.
• 1:01:28
  SPEAKER_00: Like, what the fuck?
• 1:01:30
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and Nate, like, understandably, is like, what the fuck, Brenda?
• 1:01:35
SPEAKER_00: Like, I try calling you for six days, and like I like what I go to the desert and you just don't answer me anymore.
• 1:01:41
SPEAKER_00: And she goes, Don't blow this out of proportion, please, Nate.
• 1:01:44
SPEAKER_01: And my reaction to that was what on one hand, I like that she's sticking up for herself because let's be realistic, even though they're in a relationship, I mean, they're not married, they're not living together, so she sh honestly, she really could do whatever she wants.
• 1:02:07
SPEAKER_01: But I thought they were kind of like in a relationship, but I don't think she should have lied to him either.
• 1:02:14
SPEAKER_00: No, and Nate's next line really puts it into perspective, which is why I'm siding with Nate on this.
• 1:02:19
SPEAKER_00: He said, I guess I'm a little weird to death.
• 1:02:21
SPEAKER_00: I keep finding Nicky guys in your home.
• 1:02:23
SPEAKER_01: I like that, I like that, but and mind you, she said, Oh, I've been here with Billy.
• 1:02:29
  SPEAKER_01: Where's Billy?
• 1:02:31
SPEAKER_00: Okay, and that's why I meant in the beginning.
• 1:02:33
SPEAKER_00: Remember, like she was on the phone with Nate, and she was like, Yeah, Billy's staying here for a little bit.
• 1:02:38
SPEAKER_00: He has his meltdowns once or twice a year, not a big deal.
• 1:02:42
SPEAKER_00: Right, and now she said, Why don't you come over for tomorrow night?
• 1:02:45
SPEAKER_00: You'll get to know Connor a little bit more.
• 1:02:47
SPEAKER_00: Billy's coming over and Billy's coming over.
• 1:02:49
SPEAKER_00: Raises his tone, and he's like, Billy's coming over?
• 1:02:52
  SPEAKER_00: What the fuck?
• 1:02:53
SPEAKER_00: You told me he's been here for the last six days.
• 1:02:55
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 1:02:55
SPEAKER_00: So Brenda's obviously caught in a lie because wasn't Billy staying with Brenda?
• 1:03:01
SPEAKER_01: He was supposed to be staying with her.
• 1:03:02
SPEAKER_01: Although, although, let's just play devil's advocate for a second.
• 1:03:07
SPEAKER_01: What if that was the day he left and then he's coming back?
• 1:03:13
  SPEAKER_00: No, I don't know, because Brenda's I don't think so either.
• 1:03:16
  SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying, let's play devil's advocate.
• 1:03:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I usually I'll play devil's advocate and then I'll like you know come up with ideas for why that could be right instead.
• 1:03:27
SPEAKER_00: And I could like actually play like toy around with the idea that maybe like what I'm double guessing is correct, but in this situation, no, because like then Brenda says, like Brenda then was like, Oh, I'm sorry, my head's not in the right place right now, you know, dealing with Billy and everything.
• 1:03:42
  SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, let's back up again.
• 1:03:43
  SPEAKER_00: Didn't you say it wasn't a big deal?
• 1:03:45
SPEAKER_00: This happens once or twice a year.
• 1:03:46
SPEAKER_00: So if he has these meltdowns once or twice a year, shouldn't you be used to this by now where your life's not like disrupted by this?
• 1:03:53
SPEAKER_01: And not only that, but that was your moment to say when when Nate is calling you out on everything, and he's saying to you, What do you mean he's coming over?
• 1:04:06
  SPEAKER_01: Wasn't he here?
• 1:04:07
SPEAKER_01: That's your moment to say you know he was here and he he left on this state or whatever.
• 1:04:16
SPEAKER_01: But she doesn't, she just she you know, she she basically acknowledges it that she's caught, you know.
• 1:04:23
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because then she's like, you know what, I fucked up, I'm sorry.
• 1:04:26
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 1:04:27
SPEAKER_00: But so we take a break from them for a minute, and we're back at Claire, and we're just gonna keep jumping back and forth to Claire.
• 1:04:34
SPEAKER_00: Um, Claire's at Crossroads again, chatting it up with Tophur as they hike, and eventually she starts talking to Parker, who she catches later on that night, fucking the crossroads, the crossroads leader.
• 1:04:46
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and the next day Parker all of a sudden like wants to be her friend.
• 1:04:50
SPEAKER_00: Now, when Claire catches the leader, like the crossroads leader, like fucking Parker, and then Claire like runs away because she's like, I'm sorry, like fuck this.
• 1:04:59
SPEAKER_00: Um, Parker tells the guy, she's like, Don't worry, like everybody thinks she's a fucking freak anyway.
• 1:05:04
SPEAKER_00: Like, nobody's gonna listen to what she's saying.
• 1:05:06
SPEAKER_00: And all of a sudden she's like, I want to be your friend.
• 1:05:08
  SPEAKER_01: I didn't, yeah, I know.
• 1:05:10
SPEAKER_01: I didn't realize that that was the leader at first.
• 1:05:12
SPEAKER_01: At first, I thought it was Topher.
• 1:05:13
SPEAKER_00: Because that's what she said when she approached him.
• 1:05:15
SPEAKER_00: She was like, You fucking asshole Topher.
• 1:05:18
SPEAKER_00: And then you see like the leader pop out from Yeah, I didn't catch that at first, but I don't know.
• 1:05:24
SPEAKER_00: Skip a little annoying, she's a little weird, but we'll come back to them again.
• 1:05:29
SPEAKER_01: We're gonna come back to her, yeah.
• 1:05:32
SPEAKER_00: So you remember how I said earlier how Nate like eventually fills David in on his suspicions about Rico?
• 1:05:38
SPEAKER_00: This is when he does, and David does some digging, and eventually they confront Rico about his cistine chapel, aka like Smash Face.
• 1:05:47
SPEAKER_00: His work on Smash Face goes around the community, like the um the funeral home community.
• 1:05:55
SPEAKER_00: We called them a certain name before, I just can't remember what they're called.
• 1:05:58
  SPEAKER_00: Restoration people?
• 1:06:00
SPEAKER_00: Oops, morticians, mortician community, or all of it.
• 1:06:04
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 1:06:05
SPEAKER_00: Um Nate says it's not like Rico has an exclusive contract with us or anything to David, in referencing like Rico going to Croner and doing some work for them.
• 1:06:17
SPEAKER_00: So Nate's like, it's not like he's it's not like he's on a contract to be with us, but then David makes some really good points about and reminds me.
• 1:06:25
SPEAKER_00: Nate about why they can be mad at Rico for this because Nate's trying to blow it off, like, oh, it's not that big of a deal.
• 1:06:31
SPEAKER_00: And David's like, no, he he lied to us and he took our supplies.
• 1:06:35
SPEAKER_00: Think about how shitty that sounds.
• 1:06:37
SPEAKER_00: When they do confront Rico about his cistine chapel, he comes back with, Well, I want to be a partner.
• 1:06:45
SPEAKER_00: And Nate says to David that, hey, before we come back at him, let's like talk a little bit, right?
• 1:06:52
  SPEAKER_02: Right.
• 1:06:52
SPEAKER_00: And they have this discussion where Rico was saying, like, in reference to doing the work for Kroner, he said it wasn't for the money.
• 1:06:59
SPEAKER_00: And then he goes on about like how like severely her face was damaged and how he was patching it up.
• 1:07:05
SPEAKER_00: Like, this is his craft.
• 1:07:06
SPEAKER_00: Like he was really excited about it, as it is.
• 1:07:10
SPEAKER_00: But David comes back and says, What did he offer you to leave?
• 1:07:14
SPEAKER_00: And Rico says, What are you offering me to stay?
• 1:07:17
  SPEAKER_01: I can't even, I can't even lie.
• 1:07:19
  SPEAKER_01: That's a great fucking line.
• 1:07:21
  SPEAKER_00: It really was.
• 1:07:23
SPEAKER_01: He says, Oh, part being a partner requires a financial commitment.
• 1:07:28
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 1:07:30
SPEAKER_01: So put it if if it's not like I don't understand the point.
• 1:07:39
SPEAKER_01: If if you think that he can't make the financial commitment, that's one thing.
• 1:07:43
SPEAKER_01: But if you don't want him to be a partner, that's another thing.
• 1:07:46
SPEAKER_01: So don't bring up that's a financial commitment unless you're ready to offer it to him, because whether he has the money or not is on him, not you.
• 1:07:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because David even says something like, um, partners are investors, that's what partners are.
• 1:08:01
SPEAKER_00: Like, if you want to be a partner, you have to be an investor.
• 1:08:04
  SPEAKER_00: That's what partners are.
• 1:08:05
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:08:06
SPEAKER_00: As if like he was like mansplaining it to him.
• 1:08:08
SPEAKER_00: And I feel like Rico knew, and he's trying to get through to like David, like, hey, I really care about this place, I believe in this place, like, accept me.
• 1:08:16
  unknown: Right.
• 1:08:16
SPEAKER_00: And David's like not even like toying with the thought of like, hey, maybe Rico's been saving for this.
• 1:08:21
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 1:08:22
  SPEAKER_01: And so that's that's my point.
• 1:08:23
SPEAKER_01: It's like, don't use money as an excuse if it's not about money.
• 1:08:30
SPEAKER_01: Because you didn't even present him with that offer.
• 1:08:32
SPEAKER_01: So you don't even know if it's something he can swing.
• 1:08:37
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:08:38
SPEAKER_01: It's it just seems so like catty, you know?
• 1:08:42
SPEAKER_01: Like that requires of a financial investment.
• 1:08:46
  SPEAKER_01: Shut up.
• 1:08:47
  SPEAKER_01: Shut up, David.
• 1:08:48
  SPEAKER_01: Shut up.
• 1:08:48
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:08:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, David could shut up.
• 1:08:52
SPEAKER_00: Also, do you remember what the casket was called from the first episode?
• 1:08:57
  SPEAKER_01: No.
• 1:08:58
SPEAKER_00: Like that really, really expensive one.
• 1:09:00
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:09:01
SPEAKER_01: It was like the Rolls Royce or something.
• 1:09:03
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the Rolls Royce.
• 1:09:04
SPEAKER_01: I don't remember the name of it.
• 1:09:05
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 1:09:05
SPEAKER_00: Because I feel like lines that are just so fucking perfect deserve to be called that.
• 1:09:11
SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
• 1:09:13
SPEAKER_01: We'll have to look it up.
• 1:09:14
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we can we can cut this part out, but um, I just wanted to like say that before I forgot.
• 1:09:20
SPEAKER_00: Back to Claire and Parker.
• 1:09:22
  SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
• 1:09:22
SPEAKER_00: Like, I think it's one more time we flash back to them, and that's it.
• 1:09:25
SPEAKER_00: They got kicked out crossroads because they got weed in their bag.
• 1:09:28
SPEAKER_00: Wonder who told them about the weed.
• 1:09:30
  SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
• 1:09:31
SPEAKER_00: Claire was insinuating that, like, maybe Parker told them like the counselor about the weed in her bag, but I think Topher didn't.
• 1:09:42
SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty sure it was Topher.
• 1:09:43
SPEAKER_01: I put my money on Topher.
• 1:09:45
SPEAKER_00: And we find out that Topher's actually like been doing this for a while.
• 1:09:50
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like for years.
• 1:09:52
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:09:52
SPEAKER_00: And it's all part of his plan to get into law school.
• 1:09:55
SPEAKER_00: Like he's really like Topher's not like a burnout.
• 1:09:58
SPEAKER_00: Like he's really concerned with school, and he does this to show his responsibility.
• 1:10:02
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 1:10:03
SPEAKER_00: What Claire should be learning on this trip.
• 1:10:05
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because as the creepy pedophile crossroads leader is waiting for them to get their car after he kicked them out, he's like, Yeah, Topher's in charge.
• 1:10:18
  SPEAKER_01: Topher?
• 1:10:19
SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, he's been doing this for years, and he's going to Stanford, and it's like, oh, you two got snowed.
• 1:10:26
  SPEAKER_01: Like Topher played you.
• 1:10:29
SPEAKER_00: And then you made a note.
• 1:10:31
SPEAKER_00: You said I was very disturbed by the way he grabbed at her bag, though.
• 1:10:35
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because when Claire confronts him about why they're getting kicked out, and he's like, Oh, but if I check your bag, there's not gonna be drugs.
• 1:10:45
SPEAKER_01: And I don't I don't remember what she says, but like he was like, You can't oh, you need a a search warrant to search my bag.
• 1:10:52
SPEAKER_00: You need a warrant to search my bag.
• 1:10:53
SPEAKER_01: That's what like he grabs at her bag and just kind of it it's it's not violent, but it's like violent, you know?
• 1:11:04
  SPEAKER_01: It's very aggressive, yeah.
• 1:11:06
  SPEAKER_01: And it's it's a violation of space.
• 1:11:08
  SPEAKER_01: That's her bag.
• 1:11:10
SPEAKER_01: You have no rights to put your hand, it's her bag on her back.
• 1:11:14
SPEAKER_01: You have no right to grab at her like that, and you see in her face, like she looks so hurt, and and it's it's not just oh, because he's gonna find drugs, which by the way, if you're gonna bring drugs that are technically illegal, you might want to hide them better, but you may not want to bring so much, but that's besides the point.
• 1:11:36
SPEAKER_01: Like, the fact is, like, this man should not be manhandling you that way, and it was it was just so disturbing to me because it's like a violation of your your personal space, you know.
• 1:11:49
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so would you consider this a school-oriented event?
• 1:11:55
SPEAKER_00: On some level, would you consider it a school-oriented event?
• 1:12:00
SPEAKER_01: I think I would I would say yes and no, but I would lean more towards no.
• 1:12:04
SPEAKER_01: I mean, she heard about it at school, it's designed for kids of school age.
• 1:12:10
SPEAKER_01: Okay, but it's not technically a school program.
• 1:12:15
SPEAKER_00: So there's this really famous court case that actually came from New Jersey.
• 1:12:19
SPEAKER_00: It was called TLO versus the state of New Jersey, and it talks about this um, this one like singer in a high school, and I just happened to know that high school.
• 1:12:33
SPEAKER_00: And I mean, anybody can look it up and it it says it right there.
• 1:12:37
SPEAKER_00: But the student had like they used her initials because she was underage, so TLO had drugs in her bag, and there was a suspicion that she had drugs in her bag.
• 1:12:48
SPEAKER_00: And so the school, like somebody, an official from the school, like the vice principal or something, searched her bag without a search warrant or went into her locker and searched her bag that was in her locker without a search warrant.
• 1:13:01
SPEAKER_00: And it turned into a court case because it went against like the the question was like, does this go against your um rights as a citizen, even though you're in school?
• 1:13:12
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 1:13:13
SPEAKER_00: And so it was like a legitimate court case.
• 1:13:16
SPEAKER_00: I just forgot how it ended up, but yeah, like that that's a big thing.
• 1:13:19
SPEAKER_00: So like minors, and that that happened in like the late 80s, so like definitely way before the show like took place in their world, right?
• 1:13:26
SPEAKER_00: Because this happened like nine late ish 90s in the show.
• 1:13:30
SPEAKER_01: Um, I think it's supposed to be three.
• 1:13:31
  SPEAKER_01: Early 2000s.
• 1:13:32
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 1:13:33
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:13:34
SPEAKER_00: So this like it was like it's not like anything got overturned or anything like that.
• 1:13:38
SPEAKER_00: Like this was something that had been talked about, like had been an issue and it was resolved, and it was still almost like current.
• 1:13:45
SPEAKER_00: So it was just weird to see like a school, a quote unquote school official, like the adult guiding these children on a trip that was recommended by the school, um, search her bag without a warrant and make a claim that he couldn't support.
• 1:13:58
SPEAKER_01: And here's here's the thing for me it's it's not so much that he searched her bag, right?
• 1:14:04
SPEAKER_01: Because she she probably had to sign something that said that they're able to and that she wouldn't bring drugs, right?
• 1:14:14
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but the fact that it was on her body and the way he grabbed at it and and she turned because of the way he pulled at it, it it was that it's it wasn't even off of her body, and you just thought that it was okay for you to handle it and her as you saw fit, and that's not okay.
• 1:14:38
  SPEAKER_01: 16-year-old girl.
• 1:14:40
SPEAKER_01: While her bag might be subject to search, her body is not for your but at the same time, you really think he cares?
• 1:14:47
SPEAKER_00: He just fucked Parker, right?
• 1:14:49
  SPEAKER_01: Exactly, exactly.
• 1:14:51
SPEAKER_00: Like he has no regard for like a minor's body, yeah.
• 1:14:54
SPEAKER_00: Like, fuck that, and then he literally was like, Do you think she's the type to like you know report this and ruin my future?
• 1:15:01
SPEAKER_01: Fuck you, like don't you have a dumpster, uh, a girl to rape behind a dumpster in your future?
• 1:15:06
  SPEAKER_01: Like, go away.
• 1:15:08
  SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
• 1:15:09
  SPEAKER_00: Horrible, but yeah.
• 1:15:12
SPEAKER_00: So getting back to Ruth and Ruth's story, um, she's with Nikolai, and she starts having like this very like sensual, um, like yeah, it's like a fantasy, yeah, about Hiram.
• 1:15:30
SPEAKER_00: And then flip-flop, she's sitting down with Hiram watching a TV show, and he's going on non-talking about something, and then she starts fantasizing about Nikolai, right?
• 1:15:39
SPEAKER_00: And it's just so weird to like see Ruth in a position like this.
• 1:15:43
SPEAKER_00: Like, she this is not the Ruth that we met in episode one by any means.
• 1:15:46
SPEAKER_00: No prior to finding out her husband passed away, and still even after her husband passed away, you know what I mean?
• 1:15:52
  SPEAKER_00: Yep, so weird.
• 1:15:55
SPEAKER_00: Oh, and Claire and Parker drive home back to LA, and then they're like, Oh, hey, we're friends now.
• 1:15:59
  SPEAKER_00: The end for them.
• 1:16:01
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they start getting to know each other in the car, and I'm a little susp suspicious, but we'll get there.
• 1:16:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Parker just rubs me the wrong way.
• 1:16:11
  SPEAKER_00: But it's time for Chloe's funeral.
• 1:16:13
SPEAKER_00: Vanessa Rico's wife starts admiring his work and tells him that he's got to take the job with Croner.
• 1:16:21
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's like, but what would I have without the fishers?
• 1:16:25
  SPEAKER_01: And she's like, a house.
• 1:16:27
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:16:28
SPEAKER_01: I was like, well, all right, Vanessa.
• 1:16:30
SPEAKER_01: I see who wears the pants there.
• 1:16:32
SPEAKER_00: I mean, Rico had to come in on Christmas Eve a bunch of times.
• 1:16:35
SPEAKER_00: He does all this extra shit.
• 1:16:37
SPEAKER_00: He works on the weekends, and now he's like going on having his second kid.
• 1:16:40
SPEAKER_00: Like, I was his wife, I'd be pissed too.
• 1:16:42
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, you do all this for the company and they don't recognize you?
• 1:16:44
  SPEAKER_00: That's bullshit.
• 1:16:45
SPEAKER_01: But but here's the thing, also, right?
• 1:16:48
SPEAKER_01: In fairness, let's let's see the other side.
• 1:16:51
SPEAKER_01: You knew you didn't sign up for a Monday through Friday nine to five job.
• 1:16:55
  SPEAKER_00: That's sure.
• 1:16:56
SPEAKER_01: You you can't predict when the bodies are coming in, so you know it it sucks.
• 1:17:03
  SPEAKER_01: I'll give you that.
• 1:17:04
  SPEAKER_01: It sucks.
• 1:17:05
SPEAKER_01: Like if you have to go in on a holiday or Christmas Eve or whatever, that sucks.
• 1:17:10
SPEAKER_01: But you knew this is what you signed up for, and it and I'll say this, right?
• 1:17:16
SPEAKER_01: Like, while Nate may not quite be pulling his share of the weight, it seems like David is.
• 1:17:25
SPEAKER_01: He may not be as good as reconstructing the bodies as Rico is, but it does seem like all he does is work.
• 1:17:33
SPEAKER_01: So at least I can say that it's probably not them just dumping everything on Rico and then them like you know flying off on their private jets and wearing their fire coats and shit.
• 1:17:45
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're struggling to pay for the AC.
• 1:17:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they were struggling to pay for the AC.
• 1:17:52
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's when Ruth became an investor.
• 1:17:54
  SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
• 1:17:56
SPEAKER_00: Anyway, David's on his date with Kurt and is wearing Claire's shirt.
• 1:18:02
  SPEAKER_01: Alright, go David.
• 1:18:03
  SPEAKER_00: So fucking ridiculous.
• 1:18:04
SPEAKER_00: Um, getting back to that comment about like old people can boogie.
• 1:18:10
SPEAKER_00: Um, Kurt calls David an old queen in the context of a conversation about like older men and how like twigs or like young gays don't want to date the older gays because they act like old queens.
• 1:18:23
SPEAKER_00: And he's like, and then he like alludes to the fact that like David's one of them, and David immediately gets rubbed the wrong way.
• 1:18:31
SPEAKER_00: But Kurt's super upfront about literally everything.
• 1:18:34
SPEAKER_00: He asks him like all the questions that would take months to figure out in a relationship.
• 1:18:38
SPEAKER_00: Um, and then he goes, You want to go back to Mike List?
• 1:18:41
  SPEAKER_00: David's like, sure.
• 1:18:42
SPEAKER_00: It was the weirdest interaction, it really was.
• 1:18:46
SPEAKER_00: Like Kurt was so fucking upfront about it, it was kind of weird.
• 1:18:49
SPEAKER_00: It was like emotionless, completely emotionless.
• 1:18:53
SPEAKER_00: After saying something like, Yeah, the younger guys don't want to be in a relationship, like it's one fuck, and then that's it, you don't hear from them anymore, which makes it sound like you want to be with somebody long term, and then immediately you're like, You want to come back to my place?
• 1:19:07
SPEAKER_00: Like, how Kurt's Kurt is so disorganized, but yeah, and he asked David, I like this.
• 1:19:16
SPEAKER_01: He asked him, he's like, Are you a top or the bottom?
• 1:19:18
  SPEAKER_01: A top or a bottom?
• 1:19:19
  SPEAKER_01: And David's like, I'm versatile.
• 1:19:22
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and he was like, Bottom, got it.
• 1:19:24
  SPEAKER_00: This will work out.
• 1:19:26
SPEAKER_00: What it was it was interesting.
• 1:19:30
SPEAKER_00: And speaking of interesting, Nate's dinner with Brenda, Billy, and the Aussie.
• 1:19:37
  SPEAKER_00: What the fuck, Lisa?
• 1:19:39
SPEAKER_00: I this is our grave figure of the week coming up in here.
• 1:19:43
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this whole scene was so strange.
• 1:19:48
  SPEAKER_01: It's it they're having okay.
• 1:19:52
SPEAKER_01: Brenda, Billy, and Nate are having this dinner around their little coffee table, and but I think dinner was pot because and beer.
• 1:20:05
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Nate just keeps getting high.
• 1:20:06
SPEAKER_01: Billy just keeps kind of passing him the the the bong, and you see everything from Nate's point of view, and it's all kind of disoriented and and weird.
• 1:20:18
SPEAKER_01: I guess trying to simulate the fact that he's um high and drunk or whatever.
• 1:20:23
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and you could tell he's getting like a little bit paranoid or like whatever he smokies and hitting him the right way because he has like small episodes where he just starts shouting.
• 1:20:34
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and but he's saying relevant things, right?
• 1:20:38
SPEAKER_01: And then he's looking at them and they're showing each other pictures, but like the pictures seem to change, and it's like all of a sudden they're all like huggy huggy.
• 1:20:47
SPEAKER_01: Billy's pushing a bong into his face, and then he's like, What the fuck are you saying?
• 1:20:54
  SPEAKER_01: And it's all like oogly-googly.
• 1:20:56
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but Brendan just thought in her eyes, like during the scene.
• 1:21:01
SPEAKER_00: Like, he's like, When were these taken?
• 1:21:02
SPEAKER_00: Because it was the Aussie and Brendan.
• 1:21:04
SPEAKER_00: She's like, Oh, two years ago, and she's like, I thought you haven't seen him in 10 years, and she's like, Well, he didn't come to LA in 10 years.
• 1:21:10
SPEAKER_00: And at first, I was like, Okay, well, that is what she said, but then David says something like, Where is he sleeping?
• 1:21:16
SPEAKER_00: And Billy's like, not David.
• 1:21:18
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, that's what I meant.
• 1:21:20
  SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
• 1:21:20
SPEAKER_00: Nate says something like later on the scene, like, where is he sleeping tonight?
• 1:21:25
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he said it the first time, and she pointed to the sleeping bag, and then at the dinner, he realized that that shit hasn't fucking moved.
• 1:21:33
SPEAKER_00: And he said that he was like, That bag hasn't moved in six days.
• 1:21:37
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
• 1:21:39
SPEAKER_00: And this is when we come to our grave digger of the week.
• 1:21:43
SPEAKER_00: Billy, who's fucking weird with his sisters, says some shit to Nate.
• 1:21:47
SPEAKER_00: Like, I didn't get the actual line, but he said something like, Having Lisa, please correct me, haven't you slept with a woman and didn't fuck them?
• 1:21:55
SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, like, haven't you slept in the same bed as a woman that you weren't having sex with or weren't fucking or whatever?
• 1:22:03
SPEAKER_00: No, that you didn't want to fuck, and then Nate takes a second and he goes, No.
• 1:22:08
SPEAKER_00: But Billy was like grabbing on to his sister in such a weird way when he said that, and the delivery like literally had my jaw dropping.
• 1:22:16
SPEAKER_00: That's why I was talking about it.
• 1:22:17
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was it was all so strange.
• 1:22:21
SPEAKER_01: Like, I didn't know if I should have been high to watch it.
• 1:22:25
  SPEAKER_01: I wasn't, yeah, but I don't know if I should have been.
• 1:22:29
SPEAKER_00: It was just it rubbed me so wrong, and Billy just continues to dig his grave with all his weird like sister shit.
• 1:22:38
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this really just topped it though.
• 1:22:41
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then he starts yelling, and then Brenda basically is like, you know what, get out.
• 1:22:49
SPEAKER_01: Like she just she just kind of throws him out and he leaves, and and it's like the end, but it it was I don't know.
• 1:23:00
SPEAKER_01: Like it's it's easy to make sense of it, but it's hard to make sense of it because it it just seemed like there was so much going on in the scenes themselves, but not really a lot of context in more than Nate being high and kind of not seeing clearly, but seen clearly at the same time.
• 1:23:25
SPEAKER_01: You know, if that makes sense.
• 1:23:27
  SPEAKER_00: No, it did.
• 1:23:28
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 1:23:29
SPEAKER_01: I mean, because not like I would know, but you know how sometimes when people are high and things make sense, it was like that.
• 1:23:37
SPEAKER_01: Not but not that I would ever know that.
• 1:23:39
SPEAKER_00: Oh no, not at all, not at all.
• 1:23:40
SPEAKER_00: Never I don't know, like I feel like if she really cared about him too, she wouldn't have just kicked him out.
• 1:23:47
SPEAKER_00: I feel like Brenda's definitely just all for her good times, right?
• 1:23:51
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I I I feel like that was on brand for her because she she just doesn't deal with shit, you know?
• 1:23:58
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I I can totally picture her if she was a real person being like get out, like just get out.
• 1:24:08
  SPEAKER_01: I'm done.
• 1:24:09
SPEAKER_01: Like, you're not gonna fuck up my good time, and I'm not gonna deal with this.
• 1:24:13
SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna stop to have to placate you.
• 1:24:20
SPEAKER_01: I could totally see it.
• 1:24:23
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and this is why she was a duty head, which Lisa talked about earlier.
• 1:24:27
SPEAKER_01: I also said that like like buttons she's a duty head because she's done nothing but lie to him.
• 1:24:35
  SPEAKER_01: I don't think she's a duty head.
• 1:24:37
  SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't I wouldn't agree that she's a duty head because she threw him out.
• 1:24:41
SPEAKER_00: No, no, she keeps getting caught in her lies.
• 1:24:44
SPEAKER_00: Right, that's why right or she keeps lying to him, period.
• 1:24:47
  SPEAKER_00: Like it's horrible.
• 1:24:50
SPEAKER_00: Like, if you care about this person, why are you continuously lying to them and then making lies about your lies, like saying that I'm distracted because of my brother?
• 1:24:57
SPEAKER_00: Meanwhile, earlier you were like, Oh, it happens once or twice a year, no big deal.
• 1:25:00
SPEAKER_00: So you're making lies to cover your lies because you just can't be honest with this person, exactly, and then she blames the whole, you know, that's what you have get for having psychoanalysts like inspect you your whole childhood, like uh give it a rest, yeah.
• 1:25:16
SPEAKER_00: So this is when Nate actually asks his mom for relationship advice about black.
• 1:25:23
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and we talked about this earlier, so I'm not gonna go on with it.
• 1:25:27
SPEAKER_00: But David arrives in a great mood, bringing the choiceless news of her charter bus uh charter bus accident.
• 1:25:35
SPEAKER_00: Whoa, and he's like, There were three people dead, and they're coming to us, so that's good.
• 1:25:42
SPEAKER_00: They're um their drought's over about the same time they lost Rico, so they got a productive struggle.
• 1:25:51
SPEAKER_01: Well, Nico, so they don't know that yet, right?
• 1:25:54
SPEAKER_01: Nico arrives and he starts talking to them and then realizes that even though he said they were like, Okay, we have a few a little bit to talk about, and and Rico's like, sure.
• 1:26:04
SPEAKER_01: Now Rico realizes they never even bothered to talk about it.
• 1:26:08
SPEAKER_01: And he says, Okay, you know what?
• 1:26:12
  SPEAKER_01: I'm leaving.
• 1:26:15
SPEAKER_01: And but he also warns them about Gillardi.
• 1:26:19
SPEAKER_01: He doesn't say specifics, but he tells them to like watch their back.
• 1:26:22
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's like, I wouldn't turn my backs on Gillardi.
• 1:26:25
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, and then um Nate heads back over to Brenda's room, and so he goes to apologize, and he wants her to apologize as well.
• 1:26:40
SPEAKER_01: At first she's kind of like Yeah, but I get it, like she should apologize too, like and I give him credit for apologizing because he he was a little bit in the wrong too, you know, as they're doing all the apologizing.
• 1:26:59
SPEAKER_01: David calls Nate to tell him that the drought is over and they got three bodies but no Rico.
• 1:27:06
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so Nate's like, alright, I'll be back.
• 1:27:08
  SPEAKER_01: I'm on my way.
• 1:27:10
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so I mean, I don't know.
• 1:27:14
SPEAKER_00: Do you think Nate's gonna step up?
• 1:27:17
  SPEAKER_01: We'll see.
• 1:27:19
SPEAKER_01: I mean, actually, we missed something, right?
• 1:27:21
SPEAKER_01: Because he takes his test and realize he fails it.
• 1:27:26
SPEAKER_01: Well, we don't realize that he fails it, but you could see from like the the two minutes that he's that they show him taking the test that he like has no fucking clue about it.
• 1:27:37
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:27:38
SPEAKER_01: So you you assume that he fails.

SPEAKER_00: Claire finally arrives that morning and finds David in the kitchen.
• 1:27:46
SPEAKER_00: Claire honestly looks like shit and asks David how Ruth reacted when they called, like when the crossroads people called about the drugs.
• 1:27:53
SPEAKER_00: And David said, like, I didn't tell mom about it, and I don't really plan on it because other important shit popped up, and I wasn't really thinking about your bullshit.
• 1:28:03
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she's really relieved.
• 1:28:05
SPEAKER_00: She's relieved, but I think she also like David put it in perspective for her how little her bullshit really matters to the family.
• 1:28:14
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 1:28:15
SPEAKER_01: She asks him about Keith.
• 1:28:18
SPEAKER_01: She's like, you know, whatever happened to him.
• 1:28:20
SPEAKER_01: And David's just like didn't work out.
• 1:28:23
SPEAKER_01: And this is the last scene of the episode.
• 1:28:25
SPEAKER_01: But Claire Claire says something like I I wish I wrote down the line that she learned things, and I don't know like what exactly she's referring to because I don't really know what she learned.
• 1:28:44
SPEAKER_01: But my best guess is that she learned maybe not to be so judgmental because of her conversation with Parker.
• 1:28:54
  SPEAKER_01: But I don't know.
• 1:28:56
SPEAKER_01: But the episode ends there, you know.
• 1:28:58
SPEAKER_01: David pours her glass of juice and just and and leaves, and it's just Claire, and then that's it.
• 1:29:06
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:29:07
SPEAKER_00: So just the main points of this episode.
• 1:29:11
SPEAKER_00: There weren't many because I feel like, like we said earlier, we didn't really get far, but Claire's um Claire's becoming a little social, making a little friend.
• 1:29:19
SPEAKER_00: Uh Nate and Brenda bullshit, like they're just on a roller coaster, and this is like an up and a down again for them.
• 1:29:25
SPEAKER_01: Yes, but it's the whole it's the whole overlaying crossroads theme, right?
• 1:29:31
SPEAKER_01: So like Claire was literally on the crossword crossroads excursion, and this is the first time where we see her have a female friend, and so could that be her quote-unquote crossroads?
• 1:29:49
SPEAKER_01: Because she she obviously like doesn't lean towards female friends, you know, she's alone and she doesn't really have friends, period.
• 1:29:59
SPEAKER_01: Um, Nate and Brenda have this whole thing where Nate tells her at one point, you know, when he's doing all the apologizing about how he wants to make a commitment to her.
• 1:30:12
  SPEAKER_01: So you got that.
• 1:30:14
SPEAKER_01: Ruth is at like this crossroads with well, which man is she gonna decide on?
• 1:30:20
SPEAKER_01: She's thinking about kissing both of them.
• 1:30:23
SPEAKER_01: And David, I don't even know what the fuck David is ever doing.
• 1:30:27
SPEAKER_01: I mean, David is like, you know, going out with the younger guy, he's wearing his sister's clothes, he's trying to pull that stick out of his ass.
• 1:30:37
SPEAKER_01: I know, and then you got Rico who's about to leave the Fishers and take this new job, you know.
• 1:30:46
SPEAKER_01: So it's it's all about the theme, and I mean, I guess it could be said about the woman in the beginning, you know, she could dumped a man, she was about to be in this next phase of her life, and oh yeah, and then she wasn't well anyway.
• 1:31:11
SPEAKER_00: The next episode is called Life's Too Short, and this is a doozy.
• 1:31:18
SPEAKER_00: Oh no, but I'm ready for you to take that out.
• 1:31:22
  SPEAKER_01: Um I don't want to cry.
• 1:31:25
SPEAKER_00: I don't remember crying, but I do remember actually being affected by this one a little bit.
• 1:31:31
SPEAKER_00: In the same way that I remember being affected by episode four, episode three, the guy and the breadmaker.
• 1:31:40
SPEAKER_01: Well, oh okay, I could do that.
• 1:31:42
SPEAKER_00: As in like it sticks with me.
• 1:31:45
  SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
• 1:31:46
SPEAKER_00: This one has stuck with me since I remember watching it.
• 1:31:51
SPEAKER_01: Alright, I'll probably watch it tomorrow.
• 1:31:54
  SPEAKER_01: Well, I don't know.
• 1:31:56
SPEAKER_01: But I'll definitely watch it this weekend.
• 1:31:59
SPEAKER_01: If I don't get to it tomorrow.
• 1:32:01
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this one brings back um some old characters too that we haven't seen in a while.
• 1:32:06
SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna leave it there.
• 1:32:07
SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna allow you to say anything else except for our outro.
• 1:32:13
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
• 1:32:15
SPEAKER_01: No, overall, I just want to say, overall, I did enjoy this episode, it was just strange.
• 1:32:22
  SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
• 1:32:23
SPEAKER_00: There's like three main stories going on, and they were intertwined in the wrong way.
• 1:32:30
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there was just like a lot of I don't know if exposition is the right word to get to like a little bit of nuggets, but long journey for never words, yeah.
• 1:32:43
  SPEAKER_01: I mean, overall it's fine.
• 1:32:44
SPEAKER_01: I mean, I watched the episode three times and it was never like uh again.
• 1:32:50
SPEAKER_01: But I wish that there was a little bit more substance, but it what are you gonna do?
• 1:32:56
SPEAKER_01: It was still a good episode, so I definitely I definitely did enjoy it.
• 1:33:03
SPEAKER_01: But yeah, like you said, the next episode is Life's Too Short.
• 1:33:08
SPEAKER_01: And until then, as we always say, drink responsibly, do not drink and drive.
