- 0:13Speaker 3: This is artist on Artists on artist on artists.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Do you know why they call it show business? I
- 0:19Speaker 1: always wondered that.
- 0:24Speaker 4: Welcome to Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists the
- 0:27Speaker 4: only podcast roundtable series that takes you inside the world
- 0:31Speaker 4: of everyone's favorite Hollywood, Hollywood, California. Today, we've reunited the
- 0:35Speaker 4: Cats crew and creators of the forgotten film Classic Slappers
- 0:39Speaker 4: to discuss what went into making such a legendary film.
- 0:43Speaker 4: Let's listen in.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And this was nineteen sixty three behind you. We couldn't.
- 0:47Speaker 1: We couldn't just whip out our phones and sent a text. No.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I had to run from Trailer B all the way
- 0:54Speaker 1: to Trailer F to say I've got bird feathers stuck
- 0:57Speaker 1: on my behind.
- 1:02Speaker 4: I remember what that looked like. I remember I said
- 1:04Speaker 4: turn around, and and and and it was like I
- 1:08Speaker 4: was looking at the the NBC logo. It was like
- 1:13Speaker 4: I was staring at a peco's rear. It was really
- 1:17Speaker 4: funny to me.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Well, it wasn't so funny to me in the moment
- 1:21Speaker 1: because it took it took several bats to get it out,
- 1:24Speaker 1: but I laughed later.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Good, I'm glad you found the humor in it. Eventually,
- 1:29Speaker 4: we should probably get this thing started. I think they're
- 1:31Speaker 4: telling us we have to do it intro.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Around.
- 1:35Speaker 4: So, so, my name is Samuel Stink. I was on
- 1:40Speaker 4: this production. It was called Slappers, and and you know,
- 1:45Speaker 4: I played, of course the stinker himself, Samuel Stink. They
- 1:51Speaker 4: named it after me. And it's really fun to see
- 1:55Speaker 4: all you guys again. It's really fun to be back
- 1:57Speaker 4: here again.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It's so incredible to be here. It's incredible to see
- 2:01Speaker 1: all of you. It's like I'm being transported. I of
- 2:05Speaker 1: course am Judith Dubois, former Broadway star turned film star,
- 2:11Speaker 1: turned TV star turned YouTube star, back to film now,
- 2:16Speaker 1: and I'm just so happy to be a part of
- 2:20Speaker 1: the Slappers family once more.
- 2:24Speaker 5: Ah, I'll take that note. It's me, Pearls. I am
- 2:30Speaker 5: the costumer. Then, I have been in the business longer
- 2:35Speaker 5: than most.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Of your parents were alive. I'll say that. Oh, good
- 2:41Speaker 3: to be here.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Hey, what's up all I am Keith Toby and I
- 2:51Speaker 2: was the child in Slappers. I was Samuel Stink's son
- 2:57Speaker 2: on and you know it was really early, one of
- 3:02Speaker 2: my first roles, if not my first major film, and yeah,
- 3:07Speaker 2: my only film. So happy, happy, happy to be here.
- 3:13Speaker 4: It's good to see you again. I really really mean that. Well,
- 3:17Speaker 4: wrinkly stink is what we called you. Rinky stink. Yeah,
- 3:21Speaker 4: I really nice to see.
- 3:22Speaker 1: We'd say, oh, there he is, rinky Stink. Why aren't
- 3:25Speaker 1: you in the school yard?
- 3:27Speaker 4: Yeah remember that?
- 3:28Speaker 2: I do? I do, yes, I do.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Remember we'd say where's your jump rope? Remember that?
- 3:34Speaker 2: I yes, I remember that. I remember the teasing, I
- 3:37Speaker 2: remember everything.
- 3:39Speaker 1: We had the best fun. I would run up to
- 3:41Speaker 1: you and I'd say, where's well. I hope you pick
- 3:45Speaker 1: me for the kickball team. I hope you picked me
- 3:47Speaker 1: for the kickball team in physical education?
- 3:50Speaker 4: Remember when we said, hey, it's a real big bummer
- 3:52Speaker 4: that you're missing out on going to school because you
- 3:55Speaker 4: don't get any bullies. And then we give you a
- 3:57Speaker 4: wet willie? Remember that, pearls.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I do remember you three being the worst, the two
- 4:02Speaker 2: main actors and the costume designer.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Yeah, well you always rolled with y'all.
- 4:08Speaker 4: We really felt like you were the fourth cast member.
- 4:11Speaker 4: I mean, that's the thing about Slappers. You really look
- 4:14Speaker 4: back and you those those costumes. They're really a character.
- 4:18Speaker 4: I mean, let's talk about those costumes.
- 4:20Speaker 5: Well, one would think, why is the costumer with the actors?
- 4:27Speaker 5: Why is the costumer and the opening titles? Why is
- 4:30Speaker 5: the costumer's name on the poster? And that's because in Slappers,
- 4:33Speaker 5: the costumes are a character.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I mean, it's about clothes talking to each other.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Of course, these clothes are a main member, and me,
- 4:45Speaker 5: the operator of the clothes, has gotta do that. So
- 4:48Speaker 5: it's it's it's an honor to be here and be
- 4:51Speaker 5: basically a member of the cast.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Now, for the folks at home, we should probably give
- 4:57Speaker 1: a little give it a little synopsis of what's Rappers
- 5:00Speaker 1: was all about. I mean, Slappers follows and correct me
- 5:04Speaker 1: if I'm wrong. It has been several years, but it
- 5:07Speaker 1: follows a young Angenoux on her way to be a
- 5:11Speaker 1: movie star and she encounters a talking wardrobe that alothes
- 5:18Speaker 1: have to work together to get her the big part
- 5:20Speaker 1: of the movie. And you know, Samuel Stink is an
- 5:24Speaker 1: agent and Keith Toby is her son. That she found
- 5:28Speaker 1: in the ground and she adopts him. It's a real
- 5:31Speaker 1: buddy comedy of a of an aging young Angenoux twenty
- 5:36Speaker 1: five and a small boy.
- 5:42Speaker 4: That's right, and slappers. Everyone always asks everyone always that's
- 5:45Speaker 4: why is it called slappers? They never mentioned it in
- 5:48Speaker 4: the film.
- 5:49Speaker 3: They never never was.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Sort of thing. And I wanted to know if you
- 5:52Speaker 4: guys had any theories on that, because I certainly have
- 5:55Speaker 4: a couple. Okay, I'll tell you my theory. My theory,
- 6:00Speaker 4: it is all the slapping of the ass that that
- 6:02Speaker 4: happens to the main character. You know, she walks in
- 6:05Speaker 4: that casting room at the very end slapped. I mean
- 6:08Speaker 4: this is a different time period obviously.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Oh no, you couldn't do that now. But I was
- 6:12Speaker 1: getting slapped left and right, up and down, right, cheek, left, cheek, hole,
- 6:18Speaker 1: all of it.
- 6:19Speaker 4: That's the big finale. Hole, I mean, there was a
- 6:21Speaker 4: lot of hole slapping. The big finale is you find
- 6:24Speaker 4: the right piece of clothing, and they realized the clothing
- 6:27Speaker 4: is irresistible. You literally get slapped out of town, out
- 6:31Speaker 4: of the casting office, down the street, down in Locienega Boulevard,
- 6:35Speaker 4: down Rodeo Boulevard, and you find yourself in the ocean
- 6:38Speaker 4: and you sink to the bottom because you're the callouses
- 6:42Speaker 4: from the slaps I have calcified and have made you heavy.
- 6:47Speaker 2: So how did you not realize that's why it was
- 6:50Speaker 2: called slappers? I feel like it was very obvious from
- 6:53Speaker 2: the beginning half. Most of the movie is taking up
- 6:55Speaker 2: with this people slapping her.
- 6:58Speaker 3: It was a different time, it was a different.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Times, it was a different time.
- 7:01Speaker 1: It didn't even register.
- 7:03Speaker 4: You don't point that stuff out in the sixties. You know,
- 7:05Speaker 4: that's the doubt you brought up. So it's interesting that
- 7:08Speaker 4: that is the comment on the on the on the
- 7:10Speaker 4: whole film.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Because it's just like smoking a cigarette. You wouldn't even
- 7:13Speaker 1: think to point it out if it's in a scene
- 7:16Speaker 1: somebody slapping my behind over and over again distractingly, so
- 7:21Speaker 1: it wouldn't be something you point out. You just think
- 7:23Speaker 1: of it as scenery. You'd think of it as part
- 7:25Speaker 1: of the me is on send. It wouldn't be an issue.
- 7:28Speaker 1: But now suddenly it's an issue.
- 7:30Speaker 3: I don't know. I'm very old nowadays.
- 7:33Speaker 6: When I get asked to costume a movie, I get
- 7:35Speaker 6: asked and they tell me the pitch of the movie,
- 7:38Speaker 6: and I say This is not what we did in
- 7:40Speaker 6: the sixties.
- 7:41Speaker 3: I didn't need we didn't talk about what a movie
- 7:43Speaker 3: was about necessarily. It's just taboo.
- 7:47Speaker 2: It's alldly.
- 7:48Speaker 3: We did it differently back in those.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Times, Keith, this is it differently back then?
- 7:53Speaker 5: Like I hear, I hear, you're supposed to wardrobe people
- 7:56Speaker 5: are just mirror crew. Uh, not as high up as
- 8:02Speaker 5: maybe third or fourth on the call sheet, similar to
- 8:05Speaker 5: how I run things.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Per Do you remember, Pearls. We used to have that
- 8:09Speaker 4: rule that you were allowed to walk into any scene
- 8:11Speaker 4: you wanted and you'd have to get paid for that
- 8:13Speaker 4: day as an actor.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Yes, oh yes, And that was before we had residuals
- 8:17Speaker 5: my bud.
- 8:18Speaker 1: That's right, which is and you could stay in the
- 8:20Speaker 1: scene forever if you wanted to. You could just hold
- 8:23Speaker 1: it up and we'd have to improvise with you, and
- 8:25Speaker 1: you'd you'd play different characters, you'd do silly voices, and
- 8:28Speaker 1: I'd have to be all, well, there's pearl she's part
- 8:31Speaker 1: of the movie now. But that one scene they kept.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Yes, let's play that scene right now for them when
- 8:37Speaker 3: she is talking.
- 8:38Speaker 5: To her wardrobe and I come in there with quite
- 8:42Speaker 5: the you.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Know, Evelyn please put me on a beautiful hat.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Well, hattie hat. I'm just not sure if the audition
- 8:53Speaker 1: calls for it. I'm supposed to be a Western cowboy
- 8:57Speaker 1: and you're a little bit more of a beach hat.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Eily, you got it would call for a costumer in
- 9:03Speaker 5: this scene.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Baba ba ba ba ba ba ba bop goodbye.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I can't I can't believe they kept that in. Okay,
- 9:12Speaker 2: I'll choose. I'll choose a question from the middle. It says,
- 9:15Speaker 2: what was your favorite uh, what is your one of
- 9:18Speaker 2: your favorite memories from filming Slappers?
- 9:21Speaker 4: Oh, Keith, I would love to hear your answer for
- 9:23Speaker 4: this one. I'm sure you got a million of them.
- 9:26Speaker 1: It's probably nothing but happy memories for you.
- 9:28Speaker 4: You must have had a blast on that set.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Slappers is how my coke addiction started, just back in
- 9:35Speaker 2: the sixties. They just would leave it everywhere, and I
- 9:37Speaker 2: didn't know what it was. That was six, My mom
- 9:40Speaker 2: wasn't around, nobody was around, so I thought, what is
- 9:43Speaker 2: this snowy stuff? Looks like candy put in my mouth?
- 9:48Speaker 2: And I was hooked. I was hooked from day one.
- 9:50Speaker 2: And you can actually tell in the scenes. You can
- 9:53Speaker 2: tell the moment I started coke because the rest of
- 9:56Speaker 2: the movie, I am this six year old as high
- 9:59Speaker 2: as a height left and right. Every single scene of
- 10:03Speaker 2: that movie, I was flying, flying, flying, high, And by
- 10:08Speaker 2: the end of the movie, I was doing maybe twenty
- 10:10Speaker 2: thirty lines a day to start feeding my addiction. It
- 10:14Speaker 2: got up to forty right after that movie. Yeah, couldn't
- 10:20Speaker 2: get another job. I would walk in there all my auditions,
- 10:23Speaker 2: coked up out of the wazoo saying my catchphrase from Slappers.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Wow, that's a good time.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Didn't work.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Sounds like a wonderful memory, Keith. I'll tell you my
- 10:35Speaker 4: favorite memory when that orangutang came on set. Do you
- 10:38Speaker 4: guys remember.
- 10:38Speaker 1: When you had brother Chimpy.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Chimpy the orangutang, which is a funny name because orangutangs
- 10:45Speaker 4: are different from chimpanzee. They are Hey, Keith, do you
- 10:50Speaker 4: remember when Chimpy rode by you on the on the bicycle.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Yeah, you made him throw his poop at me. You
- 10:56Speaker 2: made him throw his poop at me.
- 10:57Speaker 4: That was a talented, talented orangutang. I'll tell you that much.
- 11:03Speaker 1: That's the finest actor I ever worked with in my
- 11:05Speaker 1: goddamn life. And I'll take that to my grave, really, honestly,
- 11:09Speaker 1: really truly.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Keith, I had a question for you. I was wondering.
- 11:14Speaker 4: So I've tried to find what you've been up to, Keith,
- 11:16Speaker 4: and I can't. What have you been doing?
- 11:20Speaker 2: Mmmm? Well, now I'm trying to do this startup. It's
- 11:25Speaker 2: an app that teaches kids how to invest. We give
- 11:29Speaker 2: kids real money and then they invested. I mean, you
- 11:34Speaker 2: know how my story goes huge success after slappers couldn't
- 11:38Speaker 2: get another job because everybody knows me as the slapper
- 11:42Speaker 2: kid and running with the wrong crowd for a long
- 11:46Speaker 2: time in Hollywood a long time. After a while, those
- 11:51Speaker 2: slappers residuals which didn't really exist, they run out.
- 11:56Speaker 1: So, Keith, can I tell you? My granddaughter showed me
- 12:01Speaker 1: this and I thought it was a It was a
- 12:03Speaker 1: wonderful skit of you running around pantsless downtime square yelling
- 12:11Speaker 1: help me, help me, help me. Oh god, fuck, I
- 12:15Speaker 1: thought that was so funny. There was such a wonderful
- 12:17Speaker 1: short film you did. It was on it was on YouTube,
- 12:19Speaker 1: I believe I think the title of it was former
- 12:22Speaker 1: child star loser runs around in circles on cocaine.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Now, Oh that's funny, that's a funny.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Thing, and I thought it was brilliant.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you, thank you. Yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Speaking of brilliant things on YouTube, I wanted to bring
- 12:38Speaker 4: that up for you. Of course, Judith, as we all know,
- 12:42Speaker 4: you were a massive YouTube star. And I think that's right.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And I did say that. I did say that, and
- 12:49Speaker 1: I because it's true. You know, in as soon as
- 12:54Speaker 1: the film roles started to evaporate, you know, I'm I aged.
- 12:59Speaker 1: My granddaughter's said you should start doing makeup tutorials, and
- 13:03Speaker 1: so I did. I bought two thousand and four, the
- 13:08Speaker 1: first person to buy this. I bought a ring light,
- 13:11Speaker 1: a ring light. I bought a ring light circle light
- 13:14Speaker 1: makes your face bright. And I started doing YouTube makeup tutorials.
- 13:19Speaker 1: And then ten years in I was outed as being
- 13:26Speaker 1: a bad person. My assistant leaked some tapes of me.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Some would say screaming unjustly. This was a gotcha attack.
- 13:40Speaker 3: A gotcha attack.
- 13:41Speaker 1: It was a real gotcha attack. I went on an
- 13:45Speaker 1: apology tour and boom, best thing for my career I
- 13:49Speaker 1: could have done back in the movies.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Well, I wanted to bring that up because I don't
- 13:54Speaker 4: think anyone seed an apology tour quite like you did.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Fifty five cities across the country.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Fifty five cities sold out crowds.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Just you said, I apologized.
- 14:05Speaker 1: To thousands and thousands of people.
- 14:09Speaker 7: I costumed that show, didn't I?
- 14:11Speaker 1: You costumed every show. I loved those feather suits.
- 14:15Speaker 4: You want you are so if this is what I read,
- 14:19Speaker 4: you wore a long feather suit, large feather suit, and
- 14:23Speaker 4: you walk out, and then you have everyone line up
- 14:24Speaker 4: and you tell them I'm sorry, one by one, and
- 14:26Speaker 4: that's the end of the show.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And then they'd cheer, they cheer, and they'd yell. I
- 14:31Speaker 1: went to baseball stadiums, I did the forum. I think
- 14:34Speaker 1: the show that made me cry was the Hollywood Bowl
- 14:36Speaker 1: because I wish crazy.
- 14:39Speaker 2: They're saying that they've got a little bit of footage
- 14:41Speaker 2: from the Hollywood Bowl show. Maybe we can watch that.
- 14:45Speaker 7: Play it, please play.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I Judiph Dubois am very sorry. I'm sorry
- 14:56Speaker 1: for the things I said. Did you just say thank you?
- 15:00Speaker 4: Yeah, you're the one you're apologizing to me, right, I'm
- 15:03Speaker 4: just thinking you.
- 15:03Speaker 1: For Oh my god, so many people don't say thank you,
- 15:09Speaker 1: thank you, thank you, thank you. Hollywood Bowl. I'm so sorry. Wow,
- 15:22Speaker 1: I cried that day. I've never felt so loved.
- 15:26Speaker 4: That's really wonderful. It's really wonderful to hear that apologs
- 15:29Speaker 4: you to it works. I think if more people did
- 15:31Speaker 4: it like you did, I think that would really be
- 15:33Speaker 4: a good thing for us to see in this country.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Well, I've got a question actually for Pearls, because I've
- 15:39Speaker 2: heard Pearls you are now somehow a series guest star
- 15:44Speaker 2: on a Nickelodeon show because you just kept on walking in.
- 15:48Speaker 2: They just started writing you into their scenes. Is that true?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Oh yeah, uncle Funny, go funny.
- 15:54Speaker 7: Yeah, that's it, Uncle Funny.
- 15:56Speaker 3: A yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 6: You know what they don't tell you about this business
- 16:01Speaker 6: that if you're watching this at home, when you are
- 16:03Speaker 6: a piece of shit that is honored and I interrupted
- 16:08Speaker 6: enough people, and when you interrupt enough motherfuckers, they will listen,
- 16:16Speaker 6: whether you are a costumer or whatever.
- 16:19Speaker 8: So that's I mean, Uncle Funny is a result of
- 16:25Speaker 8: awful behavior on my part.
- 16:27Speaker 7: And that's how Hollywood rolls.
- 16:30Speaker 4: I think what's amazing about that production, Parola is your
- 16:35Speaker 4: character's name is also Uncle Funny. But it's very clear
- 16:38Speaker 4: that the main character is named uncle Funny, and then
- 16:41Speaker 4: one time you walked in, the main character obviously being
- 16:44Speaker 4: played by Keith Carrodine.
- 16:46Speaker 3: You walk bless his soul, blessed, so.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I can't believe it came back to Earth for this one.
- 16:51Speaker 7: And I meant, like, I love him, bless his.
- 16:54Speaker 4: It's pretty incredible. Bless his whole, Bless his soul. That's
- 16:58Speaker 4: what we used to say. And you came in and
- 17:00Speaker 4: I remember the first scene I saw this. You came
- 17:02Speaker 4: in and you said, no, I'm also Uncle Funny, and
- 17:05Speaker 4: then that's kind of what happened.
- 17:08Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean there's a lot of backlash I would
- 17:13Speaker 9: I would get and my team and I we just
- 17:15Speaker 9: took it and we said, let's take the label we've
- 17:18Speaker 9: been given and let's run with it.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Let's I am a.
- 17:21Speaker 7: Piece of shit, and I will take the title of
- 17:24Speaker 7: those movies. I love going on set and saying I'm
- 17:28Speaker 7: the director and I'm not. It's just fun. When you
- 17:31Speaker 7: get to be my age, it's all about having fun.
- 17:35Speaker 4: That's fantastic. I agree with you as well on that one.
- 17:38Speaker 1: That is wonderful, and I enjoy so many of your films.
- 17:44Speaker 1: You were in cars too, Yes, I was myself into
- 17:49Speaker 1: cars too, which is impressive because you don't need to
- 17:52Speaker 1: be there. There's no costumer there, it's animated.
- 17:55Speaker 7: Yeah, I found a way.
- 17:57Speaker 4: That kind of stunned me, to be honest, Perl. When
- 17:59Speaker 4: I was watching that with my grandkids and Pearls walks in,
- 18:04Speaker 4: of course I let out of gasp.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Oh, you said, don't you have a famous grandson.
- 18:09Speaker 8: Who's just on a musician.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Now, yes, my grandson. You might know him, Hosier.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Take me the Church.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Yes, yes, yes, I.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Knew it was Hoser. It sounded so familiar.
- 18:27Speaker 4: Yes, Hojier. Yes, that's my son, my grandson, Hosier. That's
- 18:32Speaker 4: his real first name. By the way, it's very cute.
- 18:34Speaker 3: He's a shoot the gun that Scottish.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Yeah, Irish, yes, Irish. Yeah, his his father. My son
- 18:43Speaker 4: ended up marrying some Mick and I moved to Dublin,
- 18:47Speaker 4: and of course.
- 18:51Speaker 2: You can't say that anymore.
- 18:53Speaker 4: I can say it. I'm i'm I'm I'm a I'm
- 18:55Speaker 4: a father in law to a Mick.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I can say it, Yes, he can, you can. Uk.
- 19:01Speaker 4: That song take Me to Church is actually based on me,
- 19:04Speaker 4: because I was screaming that once when I was there,
- 19:07Speaker 4: because I had found out that my grandson Hojia was uncircumcised,
- 19:12Speaker 4: so I said, take me to church. We need to
- 19:14Speaker 4: rectify this, we need to.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Change this, We need to put a foreskin back on.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I remember that that in your Christmas letter.
- 19:21Speaker 4: I did because I you know, I said take me actually,
- 19:24Speaker 4: I said take me to synagogue, because I'm of course
- 19:28Speaker 4: Jewish and that's where circumcisions happen. But he changed it
- 19:32Speaker 4: because he's a dirty mick, and he changed it to
- 19:34Speaker 4: a Catholic thing. So I mean, always always erasing the Jews,
- 19:39Speaker 4: that's the thing.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I mean, it doesn't really flow off the tongue. Take
- 19:44Speaker 3: me that synagogue.
- 19:46Speaker 4: I mean, look, I I of course pitched a couple
- 19:48Speaker 4: of ways that he could have made it happen talking
- 19:51Speaker 4: about this now, but this is something about this, you know.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Of course, I said, you know, synagogue, now, synagogue. Now
- 19:59Speaker 4: I'm asking to go to the synagogue now. Yes, of course,
- 20:04Speaker 4: of course.
- 20:04Speaker 2: So he recorded the song and then you called him
- 20:06Speaker 2: and pitched that out. Is that? What is that? What happened?
- 20:09Speaker 4: Yes? Well I saw him doing it, you know, had
- 20:11Speaker 4: some sort of recording or something like that, and you
- 20:14Speaker 4: got on the little microphone and I said it can
- 20:16Speaker 4: we give you know, here's a little suggestion. Of course,
- 20:18Speaker 4: he said, inks for grandpathering so much.
- 20:20Speaker 1: And then I remember, that's how used to you used
- 20:23Speaker 1: to give me notes because you weren't the director. But
- 20:26Speaker 1: sometimes in scenes you would say, I have a little suggestion.
- 20:32Speaker 4: Yes, yes, some people like to call that notes. Yeah,
- 20:36Speaker 4: sometimes it's a it's a thing I learned. When you
- 20:39Speaker 4: want someone to listen to you, you change your tone. So,
- 20:41Speaker 4: of course, yeah, something like this. Maybe you try this
- 20:44Speaker 4: little thing right here, Maybe you do that.
- 20:46Speaker 1: You were always right.
- 20:47Speaker 8: The only scene I didn't walk in and ruin was
- 20:50Speaker 8: because you changed your tone and you told me stop it.
- 20:53Speaker 7: This is this is hurting all our feelings.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Yes, Burrows, I did do that, and because I also
- 20:59Speaker 4: found out that you react very similar to the tone,
- 21:02Speaker 4: just like a dog would. You are very sensitive to tones,
- 21:07Speaker 4: and some call that in the industry, you're kryptonite.
- 21:10Speaker 6: Yes, that ruined me on the set of Diamond Junkie Boy,
- 21:16Speaker 6: did it?
- 21:16Speaker 4: Yes? I heard they put one of those white noise
- 21:19Speaker 4: machines at the edge of Diamond Junkie and one of
- 21:21Speaker 4: those dog whistles.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Yes, I'll tell you this.
- 21:23Speaker 8: When someone changes their tone, I don't know where I
- 21:26Speaker 8: am or what's happening.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And that's why I'm so bad.
- 21:31Speaker 7: With working on movies. When people are doing accents, I
- 21:34Speaker 7: get confused.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Yes, you know, changes in decibel can be hard on
- 21:39Speaker 1: all of.
- 21:40Speaker 7: Us, Yes, especially as we all get older.
- 21:42Speaker 8: I mean I'm looking at a table of sixty plus
- 21:44Speaker 8: aside from Keith.
- 21:45Speaker 3: I mean we're getting up there.
- 21:48Speaker 4: How old are you now, Keith? What fifty?
- 21:50Speaker 2: I'm thirty five.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Keith, there's been something that's bothering me. I wanted to
- 21:55Speaker 1: get it off my chest. Keith, I'm very sorry for
- 21:59Speaker 1: pants you at the premiere. Yeah, that was that was inappropriate. Yeah,
- 22:04Speaker 1: I've been told it's wrong, and I'm sorry.
- 22:07Speaker 4: That was an incredible apology. Judith, you're so good at those,
- 22:11Speaker 4: You're so good at those.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Mean to show off. I didn't want to show off,
- 22:16Speaker 1: but I'm I'm sorry.
- 22:18Speaker 3: I want to put a I want to put you
- 22:20Speaker 3: in a gown for that. That was so good.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Oh man, if you had a head dress with Brian Stones,
- 22:26Speaker 4: can you imagine what that would look like?
- 22:28Speaker 1: Oh? I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I
- 22:31Speaker 1: don't want to make this all about me, but i'm.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Sorry to get you on uncle Bunny.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Oh you know, i'd love let's talk after this because
- 22:41Speaker 1: I love to do it.
- 22:42Speaker 8: And I'd love to get in front of you and
- 22:44Speaker 8: interrupt you while you're doing it.
- 22:45Speaker 4: It sounds good.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Well, does anybody else have anything else they want to
- 22:51Speaker 2: apologize for?
- 22:53Speaker 1: Hmm?
- 22:55Speaker 4: Let me see, Hmmm, I don't.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I don't know if I remember much else.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Yes, that's everything we've mentioned. Is the cap of what
- 23:06Speaker 4: I remember. I don't remember a single other thing about
- 23:09Speaker 4: the film other than what we've discussed. Is there something
- 23:11Speaker 4: you're thinking of?
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, well, Sammy, you don't, Samuel, you don't remember, you know,
- 23:18Speaker 2: setting up that pie on the rake, making me step
- 23:21Speaker 2: on the rake, the pie, slapping me in the face,
- 23:24Speaker 2: you calling in the crew and going, look at this
- 23:26Speaker 2: stupid Irish kid. Look how dummy is Do you not remember?
- 23:30Speaker 1: That?
- 23:31Speaker 4: Doesn't ring a pel? Keep going though, maybe it'll maybe
- 23:33Speaker 4: it'll trigger.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Was just one of the occasions you don't remember coming
- 23:39Speaker 2: into my trailer, taking me out of my trailer, ripping
- 23:43Speaker 2: the sides of my trailer off, and then riding This
- 23:47Speaker 2: kid thinks he's something never never never, because I remember
- 23:53Speaker 2: it like it was yesterday.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Doesn't ring a pell? Try another? Well else, anything else?
- 24:00Speaker 2: Pearls?
- 24:01Speaker 4: Those Those sound to me like completely foreign I can't
- 24:05Speaker 4: even fathom.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Are you sure that was Samuel? Are you sure that
- 24:09Speaker 1: wasn't some sort of.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I've got pictures or animals, It's not. I watched this
- 24:14Speaker 2: man do it, and he said, you remember this, you
- 24:17Speaker 2: remember this day forever because I wanted to live an
- 24:20Speaker 2: infamy and ruin your life now.
- 24:23Speaker 4: And this was on Slappers. This wasn't on anything else.
- 24:27Speaker 2: We haven't worked on anything else. We just had. My
- 24:30Speaker 2: only movie is Slappers. Pearls. You don't remember putting me
- 24:34Speaker 2: in that toddler's outfit the one that was built for
- 24:38Speaker 2: a one year old that said I've got poopy in
- 24:41Speaker 2: my dipe please change me, and everybody gathering around you,
- 24:47Speaker 2: especially Judith, going look look look this kid's got poopy
- 24:51Speaker 2: in his dipey. What a dirty, dirty Irish man. You
- 24:56Speaker 2: guys don't remember what you're describing.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Sounds like a dream, I think. Are you sure you
- 25:01Speaker 1: aren't dreaming?
- 25:05Speaker 2: No, I've got I couldn't be dreaming it. No, that's impossible.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I couldn't. These are things that happened to me. Ye
- 25:12Speaker 2: remember these? Huh.
- 25:14Speaker 8: I'm starting to think that you asked us all here
- 25:16Speaker 8: today together so you can get apologies at.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Part yes, maybe I did call the producers and say, hey,
- 25:23Speaker 2: I like these panels. I need these people to apologize
- 25:25Speaker 2: to me because of what they did.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Maybe I'm gonna be honest. I thought this was interesting.
- 25:30Speaker 4: We were doing a reunion panel because, as we all know,
- 25:33Speaker 4: sappers paid three hundred dollars worldwide.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I know, I never get asked about this.
- 25:41Speaker 7: I was shocked.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Yeah, they let it run for thirty minutes in theaters
- 25:45Speaker 1: before they pulled it.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Well, most of the movie was just a woman being
- 25:49Speaker 2: slapped in different areas.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Which was in vogue. It was in vogue in the
- 25:55Speaker 1: time it was of the time it was off. It
- 25:58Speaker 1: was timely.
- 25:59Speaker 4: I mean, we have to. So I'm selling a short
- 26:01Speaker 4: that was three hundred dollars in the sixties. You know,
- 26:03Speaker 4: present day money that would be seven hundred, eight hundred dollars.
- 26:08Speaker 2: You guys don't remember it.
- 26:09Speaker 1: You imagine how many houses you could buy.
- 26:12Speaker 5: Good god, three hundred dollars back then was so small,
- 26:16Speaker 5: And you look at it now when you go, oh
- 26:19Speaker 5: my god, our little slappers make seven hundred and fifty dollars.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 26:27Speaker 1: The national release all fifty states, globebally even, and our.
- 26:35Speaker 5: Little movie went all the way globally bringing back seven
- 26:41Speaker 5: hundred and fifty US.
- 26:43Speaker 1: And when all little family, all little family of just
- 26:47Speaker 1: a ragtag groups of people, storytellers, we brought in three
- 26:52Speaker 1: hundred smacker room.
- 26:53Speaker 2: The budget was two million dollars. Two million dollars and back.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Then that was two million back then.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Now back then, and that's the different it changed that up.
- 27:02Speaker 4: That's seven hundred and eight hundred million. Now.
- 27:07Speaker 1: You know they talk about these avatars, these marvels, these
- 27:11Speaker 1: you know, these movies that they they have, these nine
- 27:14Speaker 1: hundred million dollar budgets. They bring in one point five
- 27:17Speaker 1: billion dollars.
- 27:19Speaker 3: That's that.
- 27:20Speaker 1: You couldn't do that then. You couldn't do that. Then
- 27:23Speaker 1: it was it was three hundred dollars if you were lucky,
- 27:26Speaker 1: and if you weren't lucky, you'd be gone.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Well, I think our movie was gone too. Nobody ever
- 27:32Speaker 2: talks about it. You guys don't remember any of the
- 27:34Speaker 2: things of talking about.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Four hundred people who saw it for you know, the
- 27:38Speaker 1: first thirty minutes.
- 27:39Speaker 2: For seventy five cents. So none of you remember this Judith,
- 27:44Speaker 2: you don't remember pooping in that pool and then putting
- 27:47Speaker 2: me in the pool and saying, look the kid pooped
- 27:50Speaker 2: in that pool. None of you guys remember this, remember.
- 27:53Speaker 1: A very nice apology for me ten minutes ago. But
- 27:57Speaker 1: I don't remember that.
- 27:59Speaker 8: Okay, I guess I remember steamrolling you during your scenes, Keith.
- 28:03Speaker 8: But any of this poopy business, I I don't.
- 28:10Speaker 2: That's another thing. I never got a line in the movie.
- 28:12Speaker 2: I try to get my my my line in the movie.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Which was crazy because on the script you had so many.
- 28:19Speaker 4: Yes, I'm sorry, Keith. None of that poop sufferings a
- 28:24Speaker 4: bell to me, and knowing me, I wouldn't touch the
- 28:26Speaker 4: stuff you did.
- 28:29Speaker 2: You touched a lot of poop on that set. You
- 28:31Speaker 2: touched its poop.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Quite frankly, you sound crazy.
- 28:35Speaker 2: No, I'm not crazy. Okay, I'm better now. I'm better now, Keith.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I just remembered something I want to apologize for. So
- 28:43Speaker 1: you started doing cocaine as a six year old. Obviously
- 28:46Speaker 1: we've talked about it. But I noticed that you were
- 28:49Speaker 1: doing it wrong, that you weren't rubbing it on your grums.
- 28:51Speaker 1: You were just sticking it straight down your throat, and
- 28:53Speaker 1: that's not an efficient way to do it. And I
- 28:55Speaker 1: didn't correct you because I thought he's a child, he's
- 28:57Speaker 1: a boy. He knows what he's doing. Somebody problem taught
- 29:00Speaker 1: that way. I don't want to, you know, overstep on
- 29:02Speaker 1: the father what he's teaching you. But I'm sorry. I
- 29:05Speaker 1: should have asserted myself as a woman and said, you know,
- 29:08Speaker 1: rub it on your gums.
- 29:09Speaker 4: That is a fantastic apart me.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Oh, stop your all too much. Thank you, Thank you
- 29:26Speaker 1: for giving me the chance to say I'm.
- 29:28Speaker 8: Sorry, and thank you for giving me the chance to
- 29:31Speaker 8: be a costumer an actor.
- 29:34Speaker 3: We bother that you will, just thank You's.
- 29:37Speaker 4: A question, girls, I got a question for you that's
- 29:39Speaker 4: been just digging in my crawl ever since I met you.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Why didn't you just try to be an actor? Why
- 29:44Speaker 4: did you always come on as a costumer and then
- 29:47Speaker 4: force yourself in as an actor? Why didn't you try
- 29:49Speaker 4: to do the normal route? Because I know that's your passion.
- 29:52Speaker 6: I want to say something to you now, and I'll
- 29:54Speaker 6: say it never again. I emen after playing a customer.
- 30:03Speaker 4: No.
- 30:05Speaker 8: Pearl all these years, this has been a method for
- 30:12Speaker 8: a role I'll be doing in a couple of years.
- 30:15Speaker 1: So this was forty years worth of actors preparation for
- 30:20Speaker 1: what's that role?
- 30:21Speaker 9: Now?
- 30:22Speaker 7: It's we start production in the fall. It's called the Costumer.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Wow, I have to say, I feel like I've been
- 30:32Speaker 1: bamboozled a little bit. Do I even know you?
- 30:35Speaker 4: Yeah? What is this smoking mirrors before us? What is this?
- 30:40Speaker 7: Well, it's all a mirror child's play, my boy.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Well, I hope, I hope you win some big award
- 30:48Speaker 4: for that.
- 30:49Speaker 6: Absolutely, thank you, and I just want to say I'm
- 30:53Speaker 6: grateful to be amongst you all here today.
- 30:56Speaker 7: This was a wonderful This was a wonderful gathering.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, this has been They're asking us if anyone has
- 31:04Speaker 1: anything they'd like to, you know, promote any projects that
- 31:08Speaker 1: are coming up. I'll go first. The Judith Dubois Show
- 31:12Speaker 1: is going to be streaming live on YouTube starting next week.
- 31:18Speaker 1: It's where I log on and I apologize for every
- 31:21Speaker 1: time I've used a slur and I apologize for it
- 31:24Speaker 1: with a song. So that's next Tuesday.
- 31:28Speaker 4: I starting in the summer, I'm going to be a
- 31:34Speaker 4: regular judge on the hit Fox show The Masked Poet.
- 31:39Speaker 4: I'm going to be guessing who different poets are under
- 31:44Speaker 4: their masks. It's very exciting. That's kind of what I'm
- 31:48Speaker 4: going up to. As you own the I don't want
- 31:50Speaker 4: to spoil anything, but there is one person that will
- 31:53Speaker 4: be performing as a poet, and they do get kicked
- 31:59Speaker 4: off in the earlier episode, so I'm allowed to say it.
- 32:01Speaker 4: The penguin is being played by Sean Aston.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Shut the fuck door.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Yeah, so, and you have to hear.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Oh, I know, I've I've already looked into it. I'm
- 32:12Speaker 2: a big Sean Aston poet guy. He did a lot
- 32:15Speaker 2: of god stuff.
- 32:16Speaker 4: Fantastic, It's very Christian. You know. I am the one,
- 32:20Speaker 4: the one in the way. You have to hear this
- 32:22Speaker 4: penguin's poetry, really really really fantastic stuff. What about you, Keith?
- 32:27Speaker 4: What are you doing pool?
- 32:32Speaker 2: We have no recollection.

- 32:50Speaker 7: on his head.
