- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, welcome back to ACC Football Addiction. Talk a
- 0:02Speaker 1: little Miami Hurricanes recruiting with Zach Blastein of 24-7 Sports.
- 0:08Speaker 1: It's hard to not say Knowles 24-7 when I get
- 0:11Speaker 1: that started.
- 0:11Speaker 2: But we are presented by... Don't say that on the
- 0:13Speaker 2: Miami site.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Don't say that. Listen, they like... I'll tell you, they
- 0:17Speaker 1: like me because I hate Florida State right now more
- 0:20Speaker 1: than they do. But we are presented by PrizePix. We're
- 0:23Speaker 1: all new users who play a $ 5 lineup and win,
- 0:26Speaker 1: get $ 150 in lineups if they use code HMA. Zach,
- 0:30Speaker 1: Miami recruiting, never a question, always hot. 2028 class, and
- 0:35Speaker 1: talk to some people there, and I don't know what
- 0:37Speaker 1: your thoughts are, but it feels like that class is
- 0:39Speaker 1: pretty full. I don't know how much further they go
- 0:42Speaker 1: into it, but I do think they're still taking some
- 0:44Speaker 1: big swings. Who are they going to land? What's the
- 0:47Speaker 1: massive fish they're going to land in 2027 that shocks
- 0:50Speaker 1: everybody and reminds everybody how good Mario is?
- 0:54Speaker 2: The one I'm watching is the number three player in
- 0:57Speaker 2: the country, five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews. St. Thomas Aquinas
- 1:02Speaker 2: High School right in Miami's backyard. Commits to A &
- 1:06Speaker 2: M over Miami over the summer. He's a big believer
- 1:11Speaker 2: in Mike Elko and what that staff has going on
- 1:15Speaker 2: in College Station, but the Aggies have not exactly had
- 1:19Speaker 2: the start they wanted to this year. Two losses already,
- 1:22Speaker 2: including their most recent result being a blowout loss at LSU.
- 1:28Speaker 2: So I think that that recruitment is one to watch
- 1:30Speaker 2: for sure for Miami. I know that they have not
- 1:32Speaker 2: let up. And from what I've heard this week, Miami
- 1:36Speaker 2: is really ramping up its efforts. And I think that'll
- 1:40Speaker 2: continue to happen as the fall progresses. And I think
- 1:45Speaker 2: they kind of wanted to wait to see what the
- 1:47Speaker 2: results would look like on the field. Miami did. And
- 1:50Speaker 2: now that A & M is struggling, I think they're
- 1:52Speaker 2: kind of smelling blood in the water and circling. Um,
- 1:57Speaker 2: so no, I mean, just to be clear, I don't,
- 1:59Speaker 2: I don't think like a flip is imminent or anything
- 2:01Speaker 2: like that. And I still think there's a lot of
- 2:03Speaker 2: work to do. Um, but I think those conversations are
- 2:06Speaker 2: happening as far as just Miami, you know, reaching back
- 2:09Speaker 2: out and kind of expressing that, that interest again. Um,
- 2:12Speaker 2: and he's definitely a name to watch.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Never a good sign for any program when Mario Cristobal
- 2:18Speaker 1: starts circling the waters and in season. Um, so yeah,
- 2:23Speaker 1: Anybody else 28 or 27, I'm sorry, before we go
- 2:26Speaker 1: to next year's class, which I know a lot of
- 2:28Speaker 1: focus is there on some big names and priority targets,
- 2:30Speaker 1: but anybody else 27 that you would look at?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, there are two names that I know Gabby Urria
- 2:36Speaker 2: for our Miami site has reported a ton on is
- 2:40Speaker 2: obviously David Jacobs, DJ Jacobs, the Ohio State five-star edge
- 2:45Speaker 2: rusher commit. He picked Ohio State in what seemed like
- 2:50Speaker 2: a last-second decision, like it was all Miami. And then
- 2:53Speaker 2: he changed his mind. This was back in December of
- 2:56Speaker 2: last year. But Miami has not given up in that recruitment.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And I believe he'll be on campus here soon, maybe
- 3:04Speaker 2: for the Florida State game, if not for one of
- 3:06Speaker 2: those surrounding home games coming up at Miami. So that
- 3:10Speaker 2: gives them a chance to wow him again in person.
- 3:13Speaker 2: And he's obviously a longtime target and someone that they've
- 3:16Speaker 2: had on, you know, on, on their flip radar for,
- 3:19Speaker 2: for a while. Um, and then the other one is
- 3:22Speaker 2: Jackson dollar, the five-star tight end committed to Georgia. I
- 3:25Speaker 2: saw this kid play out at the opening finals, uh,
- 3:29Speaker 2: in Oregon over the summer. I mean, he's a total
- 3:31Speaker 2: freak show. Like, um, you know, I, I think he's, um,
- 3:36Speaker 2: he's the best tight end I've seen in the country, um,
- 3:38Speaker 2: in any class this, this year. So, um, would be
- 3:42Speaker 2: a huge flip. I know he's, you know, said all
- 3:44Speaker 2: the right things about Georgia and, but you know, Miami's
- 3:47Speaker 2: being aggressive there and you know, they'll, they'll push to
- 3:50Speaker 2: the end until signing day for, for all three of
- 3:53Speaker 2: those guys I mentioned.
- 3:55Speaker 1: They flipped, who was it? Justin Scott a couple of
- 3:57Speaker 1: years ago from Ohio state. And if they pull Jacobs
- 4:02Speaker 1: now as well, they're trying to get some payback for that,
- 4:06Speaker 1: for that Jeremiah Smith thing that, that they're making Ohio
- 4:09Speaker 1: state feeling on that defensive line, if they can flip
- 4:12Speaker 1: a five-star edge prospect too, which, Miami may very well
- 4:15Speaker 1: be defensive end university right now. So, um, makes a
- 4:19Speaker 1: lot of sense. 28, a couple of big names that
- 4:22Speaker 1: I think are trending more towards Florida, but can Miami
- 4:26Speaker 1: stay in it? Uh, and a long way to go,
- 4:28Speaker 1: but Bryson, right. Is one, uh, Giotto, if I'm saying
- 4:32Speaker 1: that right, Asher Giotto is another one that I think
- 4:34Speaker 1: both of them are, both of them are kind of
- 4:36Speaker 1: going head to head. It'll be kind of a fun
- 4:37Speaker 1: state of Florida battle to watch for over a year.
- 4:40Speaker 1: But both seem like Florida leans at least at this moment.
- 4:44Speaker 1: But like I said, long, long way to go until
- 4:45Speaker 1: December of 2027. Yeah, exactly.
- 4:51Speaker 2: You know, I think the one that I would keep
- 4:53Speaker 2: a closer eye on just because I think a decision
- 4:55Speaker 2: could come sooner than later is, is Asher Giotto. I
- 5:00Speaker 2: think that he's a guy that I remember going to, to,
- 5:04Speaker 2: you know, they have these Under Armour camps during the
- 5:05Speaker 2: off season where all these guys, you know, compete. And
- 5:08Speaker 2: Asher has been there. It feels like for the last
- 5:11Speaker 2: half decade, he's been, he's been on the radar since
- 5:13Speaker 2: he was an eighth grader. And Miami has been in
- 5:16Speaker 2: the mix for, for most of that time. And yeah,
- 5:18Speaker 2: they certainly entered the season as, as what I would
- 5:21Speaker 2: consider the leader for him. But he visited Florida for
- 5:25Speaker 2: their game, I think against FAU at the beginning of
- 5:28Speaker 2: this month. And he, he loved that visit. And, you know,
- 5:32Speaker 2: it sounds like from some conversations I've had this week,
- 5:36Speaker 2: that the Gators are certainly trending there, but he returns
- 5:39Speaker 2: to Miami, um, in a few weeks for the FSU game,
- 5:42Speaker 2: which is, you know, we want to get into that.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I mean, that's going to be one of the more
- 5:45Speaker 2: loaded visit weekends of any, that any school has this,
- 5:49Speaker 2: this season. Um, it's going to be crazy because Miami
- 5:52Speaker 2: is not exactly had a great home slate to this point.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I think it's Campbell or not Campbell, uh, fam you and, um,
- 5:59Speaker 2: who they just played central Michigan. I want to say, yeah. Um,
- 6:02Speaker 2: so not exactly, uh, games you want to bring in
- 6:05Speaker 2: big time recruits for, but that FSU game, even though
- 6:08Speaker 2: FSU is down, it's still a rivalry game. Um, and
- 6:11Speaker 2: they're loading it up. So Asher will be there and that'll,
- 6:14Speaker 2: that'll give them a chance to, to kind of, um,
- 6:17Speaker 2: try to change the momentum in that one. But that's a,
- 6:19Speaker 2: that's a Miami, Florida, Georgia battle as of right now.
- 6:23Speaker 2: And Asher still got some other visits to take, but
- 6:25Speaker 2: those are the three schools I'm watching most. Um, and
- 6:27Speaker 2: then with Bryson, right. Number one, wide receiver recruit in
- 6:31Speaker 2: the country. Um, I would not go as far to
- 6:34Speaker 2: say that Florida is like in the lead there. I
- 6:37Speaker 2: think they vaulted up into that lead group, which also
- 6:40Speaker 2: includes Miami and Texas. I think Bryson will also be
- 6:46Speaker 2: on campus or not on campus at Hard Rock Stadium
- 6:50Speaker 2: for the Florida State game as well on the 17th
- 6:52Speaker 2: of October. And that'll once again be a big opportunity
- 6:55Speaker 2: for Miami to play. you know, generate some buzz with him.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I don't know exactly what his decision timeline looks like.
- 7:03Speaker 2: I think that's still up in the air. He might
- 7:05Speaker 2: take some more time with it and kind of prolong
- 7:08Speaker 2: his process. Whereas I think Giotto's recruitment could potentially be
- 7:11Speaker 2: wrapped up by the end of this year.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Quick break from the video, 15 second plug. If you're
- 7:17Speaker 1: not subscribed on audio, make sure you go do that.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Spreaker helps us the most. I'm putting
- 7:23Speaker 1: the link in the description. Go subscribe because I know
- 7:25Speaker 1: you're subscribed here. All right, now back to Zach. More loaded,
- 7:29Speaker 1: I know you do recruiting more, but more loaded, the
- 7:32Speaker 1: recruits on Miami's sideline or the scoreboard that night on
- 7:36Speaker 1: Miami's side during that FSU game? And maybe there's a
- 7:40Speaker 1: direct correlation where Mario says, all right, let's put on
- 7:42Speaker 1: a show.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I do not think it's going to be
- 7:45Speaker 2: pretty for Florida State. I mean, I know Miami's dealing
- 7:49Speaker 2: kind of with the injury bug right now, so that's
- 7:53Speaker 2: certainly a factor. But, I mean, just look at the rosters.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Miami's on site. much more talented. Um, so I, I
- 8:00Speaker 2: do not think it's going to be close, but, uh,
- 8:02Speaker 2: I would say more recruits in the building though. Cause I,
- 8:03Speaker 2: I think there could be over a hundred and I
- 8:05Speaker 2: don't know if they're, they're putting a no on the Knowles.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It may just feel like a hundred for us. We're
- 8:10Speaker 1: incarnate that night. Um, other 28 names and we'll wrap
- 8:14Speaker 1: up in a few and let you go. But other
- 8:15Speaker 1: 28 names to watch out for. I mentioned the two
- 8:17Speaker 1: that you kind of battle in Florida with, but other
- 8:19Speaker 1: ones to watch for.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Two, I would keep an eye on Xander Edwards. Um,
- 8:24Speaker 2: he's a teammate of Giotto at Jacksonville bulls. Um, Like
- 8:29Speaker 2: a big running back, 6'1, 220 pounds, kind of fits
- 8:34Speaker 2: that Miami scheme really well. And I think Miami leads
- 8:37Speaker 2: for him. Florida's kind of evened up that race more
- 8:41Speaker 2: as of late. But I think once he makes it
- 8:44Speaker 2: back to Miami, we could see them pull ahead again.
- 8:46Speaker 2: They had a clear lead entering the season. And then
- 8:50Speaker 2: Gabriel Player, he's a linebacker. He's like 6'3, 6'4, out
- 8:55Speaker 2: of Melbourne, Florida, UGalley High School. Really athletic backer and
- 9:01Speaker 2: someone that Miami has had as a top target for
- 9:04Speaker 2: several months. And I think they're out in the lead
- 9:06Speaker 2: for him. He went to the Central Michigan game. He
- 9:09Speaker 2: was one of the key prospects there on a smaller weekend.
- 9:14Speaker 2: But he'll return to Miami again this season, and he's
- 9:16Speaker 2: going to also see them play at Notre Dame in November.
- 9:20Speaker 2: So those two guys would certainly be ones to watch.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I think Miami leads and has a good shot to
- 9:25Speaker 2: eventually land both.
- 9:27Speaker 1: The perception around Miami whenever they land a big recruit is, oh, well,
- 9:33Speaker 1: maybe this is the perception around every program. When your
- 9:34Speaker 1: program loses a recruit, it's always money. When your program
- 9:38Speaker 1: lands a recruit, it's always that they just want to
- 9:40Speaker 1: play for your school. Like it's school pride. It's the
- 9:42Speaker 1: funniest dichotomy I've ever seen, um, in justification for, for
- 9:47Speaker 1: recruiting battles. Now, Miami obviously has good resources. I don't
- 9:50Speaker 1: think any Miami fan would, would tell you otherwise, but
- 9:53Speaker 1: when you talk to kids on the trail about Miami,
- 9:57Speaker 1: how would you, how would you weigh And I'm not
- 10:00Speaker 1: asking for a percentage, but just how would you rate
- 10:02Speaker 1: like Mario's intensity? He's always been a good recruiter. They're
- 10:06Speaker 1: really good resources, the success they're having on the field.
- 10:09Speaker 1: And I know the answer is like, it all factors together,
- 10:12Speaker 1: but do kids mention money? Do they mention like the
- 10:15Speaker 1: success on the field? Do they mention Mario's recruiting prowess,
- 10:18Speaker 1: which is something that he's always had? Like what's the
- 10:21Speaker 1: biggest vibe that you get from people when you're talking
- 10:23Speaker 1: with them?
- 10:24Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, it is that it is Mario's, um,
- 10:28Speaker 2: Recruiting prowess and just how active he is, like almost
- 10:31Speaker 2: every kid that's a top Miami targets like, yeah, I'm
- 10:33Speaker 2: in a group chat with Mario Cristobal and he just
- 10:35Speaker 2: he has my whole family in it and he hits
- 10:38Speaker 2: us up every day. And like how many other head
- 10:41Speaker 2: coaches are doing that around the country? And that's what
- 10:43Speaker 2: sets Mario apart. So that's definitely a huge factor. I mean, yeah,
- 10:48Speaker 2: like you said, Miami is well resourced. But, you know,
- 10:51Speaker 2: I roll my eyes when people say that, you know,
- 10:54Speaker 2: that's kind of the driving factor, right? Miami is going
- 10:57Speaker 2: to be very competitive, but they're also, it's not like
- 11:01Speaker 2: they're coming in last minute and offering a bag with
- 11:04Speaker 2: no relationship built, right? With their top guys, they have
- 11:07Speaker 2: excellent relationships. And then on top of that, they, you know,
- 11:11Speaker 2: added an attractive financial offer, just like most of these
- 11:15Speaker 2: other schools are that they're competing with. So, no, I mean,
- 11:18Speaker 2: would not say that that's, The separating factor for Miami,
- 11:23Speaker 2: it's certainly Cristobal's effort plus the recent results on the field.
- 11:27Speaker 2: They look like a routine national contender now over the
- 11:33Speaker 2: last couple seasons. And certainly to start this season, they
- 11:36Speaker 2: look really solid, especially that offense.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I also get the vibe from Cristobal. I've never
- 11:42Speaker 1: talked with him, just if I'm guessing. I also get
- 11:45Speaker 1: the vibe that like, he's kind of a no nonsense,
- 11:48Speaker 1: like where, you know, some coaches will just overpay. Like
- 11:51Speaker 1: you think about like Texas tech or whatever, like they,
- 11:53Speaker 1: not that they don't develop relationships, but you know, they're
- 11:55Speaker 1: overpaying to be in some of these battles where if
- 11:58Speaker 1: a kid is like money focused, Mario would say, man,
- 12:01Speaker 1: I don't want you here. You know, like, I don't,
- 12:03Speaker 1: I don't, if, if that's your number one driver, then
- 12:06Speaker 1: I don't, I don't want you disturbing what we've built here. Again,
- 12:09Speaker 1: they're very, everybody in the top 10 is very competitive financially,
- 12:14Speaker 1: or you're not going to get in the top 10.
- 12:16Speaker 1: And so it always rubs me or strikes me weird
- 12:19Speaker 1: when people are like, ah, well, that's just money. And
- 12:20Speaker 1: I'm just like a buddy. Oregon's got just as much
- 12:24Speaker 1: in Ohio state state, Notre Dame, you know, like Texas
- 12:27Speaker 1: has more money. You know, like they just, you know, like,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I don't know what to tell you when it comes
- 12:31Speaker 1: to that. And I just don't get that vibe from him.
- 12:33Speaker 1: So I do think that tracks pretty well.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. And I think the biggest thing with
- 12:39Speaker 2: Mario that gets under looked is kind of what you're
- 12:42Speaker 2: getting at, right? the disciplinary measures he takes to try
- 12:47Speaker 2: and protect his team from, from influences that, that could,
- 12:51Speaker 2: you know, get them off track of, of their ultimate goal, right?
- 12:54Speaker 2: Like if a guy messes up in a significant way,
- 12:59Speaker 2: like there will be, there's a punishment for that, right?
- 13:02Speaker 2: You've seen that with, with certain guys, he's either suspended
- 13:05Speaker 2: or guys that have been kicked off the team. Like
- 13:08Speaker 2: there is no, no nonsense policy around that program. And that's,
- 13:11Speaker 2: that's a big deal for, you know, I talked about
- 13:13Speaker 2: that recently, like with some people, like, especially now that
- 13:16Speaker 2: there's financial investments tied to these players, like you cannot
- 13:22Speaker 2: have guys that are going to, you know, be cancers
- 13:25Speaker 2: to your locker room and just kind of try to
- 13:28Speaker 2: iron it out. Because I mean that, you're talking about
- 13:32Speaker 2: a ton of impact on, on other guys that, that
- 13:37Speaker 2: you're investing a lot of money to, to, to go
- 13:39Speaker 2: and deliver. So yeah, I think there's, there's more incentive
- 13:42Speaker 2: than ever to crack down on, on that stuff. And
- 13:45Speaker 2: I think Mario, you know, to add on to what
- 13:48Speaker 2: you brought up with, with kind of not recruiting those
- 13:51Speaker 2: types of guys that are, are money driven. I think
- 13:54Speaker 2: that kind of speaks to, you know, also what, what
- 13:57Speaker 2: he does with guys currently on his team.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Zach, I appreciate you for hanging out. Where can people
- 14:03Speaker 1: follow you? Where can they get caught up on everything
- 14:04Speaker 1: you've got going on?
- 14:06Speaker 2: On XZBlosting247, and then I'm on 247sports. com.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Appreciate you, man. Appreciate our friends over at PrizePix. Again,
- 14:15Speaker 1: all new users there. Play a $ 5 lineup and win.
