Latest / Michelle Explains Anime, Poorly / 86 [Eighty-Six] Ep.3- I Don't Want to Die
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle. I'm here still or again
- 0:05Speaker 1: maybe Yeah. I'm still recording several weeks ahead, which is
- 0:10Speaker 1: always interesting because who knows what the shape of the
- 0:13Speaker 1: world will be like when you hear these if you
- 0:16Speaker 1: hear these, But it's kind of nice to have some
- 0:19Speaker 1: extra time to watch everything. So yeay, So we're gonna
- 0:24Speaker 1: talk about episode three of eighty six today, which we
- 0:28Speaker 1: know the title of from the last episode because there's
- 0:31Speaker 1: the next episode title card at the end, so it's
- 0:33Speaker 1: I Don't want to Die, which is pretty upsetting sounding.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I mean, it's good that whoever this is doesn't want
- 0:40Speaker 1: to die, I guess, but it's not so great that
- 0:44Speaker 1: death is a possible option I suppose. But anyway, I
- 0:48Speaker 1: really like this episode. This is kind of the episode,
- 0:51Speaker 1: at least on rewatching this before this rewatch what I'm
- 0:55Speaker 1: doing now. It was the episode that made me go like, oh, fuck, like,
- 0:59Speaker 1: I really like this, so I'm interested to see what
- 1:02Speaker 1: you think of it. And also I'm pretty sure I
- 1:04Speaker 1: cut me saying this out of one of the other episodes.
- 1:08Speaker 1: But despite eighty six being one of my favorite anime,
- 1:12Speaker 1: I did not like the first core that much. When
- 1:14Speaker 1: I watched it the first time, and I guess didn't
- 1:18Speaker 1: like is the wrong word, Like, I just didn't think
- 1:20Speaker 1: it was special, Like I don't know what it was.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I think I might have just been in a horrible
- 1:26Speaker 1: mood when I was watching it. But I guess either
- 1:30Speaker 1: before the second core aired or when it started to air,
- 1:33Speaker 1: I started to rewatch the first core so I could,
- 1:36Speaker 1: you know, remember everything that happened and stuff, because it
- 1:38Speaker 1: had been several months, and I realized how really cool
- 1:42Speaker 1: and special it was. And I think a lot of
- 1:44Speaker 1: this is just this is one of those shows that
- 1:46Speaker 1: is like really great on rewatch because you just know
- 1:49Speaker 1: so much more about the characters and the environment, and
- 1:52Speaker 1: you can catch like little cool things that are happening
- 1:55Speaker 1: that you just kind of dismissed the first time, at
- 1:57Speaker 1: least in my case. Actually felt that way about Banana
- 2:00Speaker 1: Fish too, but we're not gonna talk about banana Fish.
- 2:02Speaker 1: This is about eighty six. So yeah, so I love
- 2:06Speaker 1: this episode and I'm excited to talk about it with you.
- 2:09Speaker 1: So let's just get into it and we'll see how
- 2:12Speaker 1: long this takes. Hopefully not multiple hours but maybe so again,
- 2:18Speaker 1: the episode is called I Don't Want to Die and
- 2:21Speaker 1: we start with this mechanical whirring sound, and we're focusing
- 2:26Speaker 1: on like the close up of like one of the
- 2:28Speaker 1: I guess Spearhead squadrons uniforms or whatever they are. Like
- 2:32Speaker 1: the jacket, we were kind of like focusing on like
- 2:35Speaker 1: the top button of it, so we're seeing part of
- 2:38Speaker 1: their torso and that's it. We then see the Juggernaut screen,
- 2:43Speaker 1: like the viewing screen, and it is looking out over
- 2:46Speaker 1: the horizon, and within the screen there's a box that
- 2:49Speaker 1: has a close up shot that says specifically, zoom four times,
- 2:53Speaker 1: and it is a shot of a fire in the forest. Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 1: On the side of the screen, blinking in red in
- 3:01Speaker 1: English says signal lost. A voice who I'm not sure
- 3:05Speaker 1: who it is, says I'm sorry about keres Blute. When
- 3:09Speaker 1: we see one of the character's eyes widen, which might
- 3:14Speaker 1: be laughing Fox, but it could also be black Dog
- 3:18Speaker 1: because they both have green eyes and this is a
- 3:19Speaker 1: green eyed male character. So anyway, their eyes widen and
- 3:25Speaker 1: they gasp, and as they do, they kind of lurch
- 3:28Speaker 1: forward slightly and their top button breaks. We then see
- 3:31Speaker 1: a shot of the fire in the forest as the
- 3:34Speaker 1: sun is setting behind it, and we go to the
- 3:36Speaker 1: opening theme. Hooray. Wow. It actually started up in my
- 3:40Speaker 1: head when I said that. That's always fun when you
- 3:42Speaker 1: can audi eight things. Anyway, back from the opening, we're
- 3:46Speaker 1: in a different scene. The cat is playing with this
- 3:50Speaker 1: toy that probably isn't a cat toy. It's got like
- 3:53Speaker 1: a pig ball thing on it, I'm not sure. It's
- 3:56Speaker 1: in the grass and the cat looks over and there's
- 4:00Speaker 1: this big, like gigantic bour and it like rolls next
- 4:03Speaker 1: to it and we see that it's like dead and
- 4:06Speaker 1: on a hand truck of some sort. The cat's fur
- 4:09Speaker 1: like stands and it hisses because it's a really big
- 4:12Speaker 1: scary board. But the cat should know that it's dead.
- 4:14Speaker 1: It's it's not gonna hurt it. Anyway, we see that
- 4:17Speaker 1: Hatou too is pushing the hand cart and he says,
- 4:21Speaker 1: here's the real pig that lives outside the Grand mirror,
- 4:24Speaker 1: and he like pats it, and the cat looks like
- 4:27Speaker 1: irrationally scared again. Anyway, Fido is also there and he's
- 4:31Speaker 1: making all sorts of beeps and like shaking and stuff.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I don't know what he's trying to say. And we
- 4:36Speaker 1: see black Dog. He's manning like a grill while laughing.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Fox is like sitting on like a box or something
- 4:43Speaker 1: like a wooden crate next to him, drawing on his notepad.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Laughing Fox says, that's not funny. How to toe, I actually
- 4:51Speaker 1: think it was funny. We see that it is June thirteenth,
- 4:54Speaker 1: twenty one forty eight. Hatoto puts his hand on his
- 4:58Speaker 1: head and he's like, looks like it didn't go well.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You're supposed to laugh. Black Dog says, I don't think
- 5:04Speaker 1: that was in the cards. He picks up a spoon.
- 5:06Speaker 1: He like dips it in what I thought was like
- 5:09Speaker 1: a barbecue thing, but like it's a sauce of some sort,
- 5:11Speaker 1: and he like tastes it because he knows that you
- 5:14Speaker 1: have to taste things as you go or won't come
- 5:16Speaker 1: out good. Right at least that's what I hear. I
- 5:19Speaker 1: don't taste my food as I go because I'm bad anyway.
- 5:23Speaker 1: How Toto says, where's anju anyway? I need to have
- 5:26Speaker 1: her take my turn making dinner. Black Dog, who is
- 5:29Speaker 1: stirring the I guess sauce or whatever, says she's on
- 5:32Speaker 1: cleaning duty today. Laughing Fox is like, you would know
- 5:36Speaker 1: han dyah okay so black Dog has a name. It's
- 5:40Speaker 1: Dya yay. I'm so happy we're getting names, because all
- 5:43Speaker 1: we have is like their weird battle name things, and
- 5:47Speaker 1: it's a little frustrating and confusing. Anyway, Diya says, the
- 5:51Speaker 1: other girls went too. How Too's like, when was that?
- 5:54Speaker 1: Diya says, right after breakfast, I think, and laughing Fox
- 5:58Speaker 1: is like, it's lunchtime. Diya says, yeah, it shouldn't take
- 6:03Speaker 1: that long. Hot To kind of walks closer and laughing
- 6:08Speaker 1: Fox stands and how to Toe says, so they're bathing.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Diya looks up. How to Toe continues and right now
- 6:15Speaker 1: the river is and how to Toe and laughing Fox
- 6:19Speaker 1: in unison make a thumbs up symbol and say heaven
- 6:22Speaker 1: on Earth. Gross, guys gross. Diya's like, no, no, and
- 6:28Speaker 1: he's like making an X with his arms. Absolutely not.
- 6:31Speaker 1: How Toto puts his arm around daya, don't be such
- 6:34Speaker 1: a stick in the mud, he smirks, and then he
- 6:37Speaker 1: puts his hand over his mouth. We might die tomorrow.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Diya's like, you say that all the time. How to
- 6:44Speaker 1: Toe and laughing Fox is like, got it, we won't
- 6:48Speaker 1: look it on you, and Diya says, no, you'll definitely
- 6:51Speaker 1: see her. And he pushes how to Toe's arm off
- 6:54Speaker 1: of him and is like, that's not the issue. I'm
- 6:57Speaker 1: not going absolutely not to and laughing Fox smile like sure,
- 7:02Speaker 1: and Daya continues before we're men and women. We are
- 7:06Speaker 1: staunch comrades, staunch comrades. We cut to a shot of
- 7:13Speaker 1: the sauce boiling in the pot, and then we cut
- 7:16Speaker 1: to a similar looking pot like a buckets full of clothes.
- 7:19Speaker 1: But I guess either have been washed or are going
- 7:22Speaker 1: to be washed. We hear laughter in the background. All
- 7:25Speaker 1: of the girls are standing in the river kind of
- 7:27Speaker 1: like playing. They are clothed, by the way. They don't
- 7:31Speaker 1: have like their jackets on, so they're wearing like, you know,
- 7:33Speaker 1: no sleeve shirts and short sleeve shirts, so I guess
- 7:35Speaker 1: it's a little bit more revealing. And I guess the
- 7:37Speaker 1: shirts are wet, so I guess that's nice for you know,
- 7:41Speaker 1: laughing Fox and hotter Toe or whatever. I don't know.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Mane seems kind of like maybe you shouldn't be doing that, guys,
- 7:48Speaker 1: But okay, anyway, Anju isn't standing in the water. She's
- 7:51Speaker 1: actually sitting on a rock, and so is that girl
- 7:54Speaker 1: with the black ponytail. Gun Slinger from in the water says, Kaye,
- 7:58Speaker 1: what are you doing? Okay? Kaye is the girl with
- 8:01Speaker 1: the black ponytail and that she's got like grayish eyes. Anyway,
- 8:05Speaker 1: Kaye looks up and Gunslinger says, stop sitting there and
- 8:08Speaker 1: join the fun. Kaye's like, I don't know, I think
- 8:12Speaker 1: I can look sexy just fine over here. Gunslinger says,
- 8:16Speaker 1: what are you talking about. Kaye like crosses her arms
- 8:19Speaker 1: and says, you know, you could look at this place
- 8:21Speaker 1: as heaven. Gunslingers just like what. Anju just kind of
- 8:26Speaker 1: splashes some water, like kicks water at Kaye because they're
- 8:29Speaker 1: not really sitting next to each other, and she's like,
- 8:30Speaker 1: just go and join the fun. All the other girls
- 8:33Speaker 1: are like, that's right. Kaye is like, is it okay
- 8:36Speaker 1: for us to be out here having fun anyway? An
- 8:39Speaker 1: She says, you're so serious sometimes, Kaye. We cleaned up
- 8:43Speaker 1: just like we were supposed to. And then I think
- 8:46Speaker 1: Kaye says, but I didn't see her because we're like
- 8:48Speaker 1: focusing on like a frog and stuff. I guess the
- 8:50Speaker 1: same animation budget. I'm not really sure. I'm pretty sure
- 8:53Speaker 1: it's Kaye. And she says and she knew we would
- 8:55Speaker 1: do this when he gave us the okay, right, I
- 8:57Speaker 1: think he did, by the way. One of the girls
- 9:00Speaker 1: that we don't know who she is, she doesn't have
- 9:03Speaker 1: any sort of name yet, says, our captain does understand,
- 9:06Speaker 1: even if he never changes his expression. She smirks and
- 9:09Speaker 1: looks over a gunslinger. Sorry, I should have realized that
- 9:13Speaker 1: you and Shin don't have any duties today. We should
- 9:15Speaker 1: have given you an excuse to be alone. Gunslinger's eyes
- 9:19Speaker 1: widen and she blushes. No, it's not like that. I
- 9:23Speaker 1: think it is like that, but okay. Another girl that
- 9:27Speaker 1: we don't know her name says, what do you even
- 9:29Speaker 1: like about that guy? I can never tell what he's thinking.
- 9:32Speaker 1: She kicks water over a gunslinger. Gunslinger's like, I said,
- 9:37Speaker 1: it's not like that. Ange's like, what about you, Kaye?
- 9:41Speaker 1: Kaye says Shin. He's not bad. I guess she has
- 9:46Speaker 1: like her hand on her chin. He's the silent type, stoic.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I like that. Gun Slingers like wait Kanye, and she
- 9:54Speaker 1: starts to blush again. Kaye continues, I see, I see.
- 9:58Speaker 1: If no one's interesting, I can go after him myself. Right,
- 10:02Speaker 1: Maybe I'll try some traditional Eastern style yo by tonight,
- 10:07Speaker 1: and she like walks her fingers towards each other, and
- 10:10Speaker 1: then we cut to behind her, so we don't see
- 10:12Speaker 1: what hand gesture she's making, but they are I guess,
- 10:15Speaker 1: kind of lewde and she's making like these passionate sounding noises,
- 10:20Speaker 1: and Gunslinger's like Kanye. The girls are like all smirking,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and Gunslinger says, well, I don't really care about Shin
- 10:30Speaker 1: in the slightest but she's blushing again. But I don't
- 10:34Speaker 1: think that's right. You know, Eastern lady should be dignified
- 10:38Speaker 1: and reserved. So and all the girls are like, you're
- 10:41Speaker 1: so cute, Karina. Oh we know her name now. So
- 10:44Speaker 1: Karna pouts and is like stop it, and they all
- 10:48Speaker 1: start laughing and splashing her. Okay, let me pause there,
- 10:52Speaker 1: because this is important. It's not really that important, but
- 10:54Speaker 1: yo bi you should know what that means, right, I mean,
- 10:57Speaker 1: we've gotten context clues that yo buy is something maybe
- 10:59Speaker 1: so so according to the Internet, yo bi is we
- 11:05Speaker 1: can translate directly as night crawling, which is when a
- 11:09Speaker 1: man goes out at night and silently enters a woman's
- 11:13Speaker 1: house for sex, consensual sex. And it's like something that
- 11:19Speaker 1: an unmarried couple would do. So there you go. That
- 11:22Speaker 1: would be upsetting to hear that the guy that you
- 11:25Speaker 1: like might have sex with Kaye, I guess, and that
- 11:30Speaker 1: you can't say that you like him because it's doesn't
- 11:34Speaker 1: feel good to say that you like people. Sometimes it
- 11:36Speaker 1: makes you feel really vulnerable. I get it, Karina, I
- 11:39Speaker 1: get it anyway. So everyone is splashing Karina and laughing,
- 11:44Speaker 1: and the camera pulls back towards the trees and we
- 11:48Speaker 1: hear heavy breathing. Come on, guys, no. We get a
- 11:52Speaker 1: close up on Daya, who is so sweaty, and he's
- 11:56Speaker 1: like hiding in a bush. You were not supposed to go,
- 11:59Speaker 1: dya u, And he says, how many times do I
- 12:02Speaker 1: have to tell you guys? This isn't okay. How to
- 12:06Speaker 1: Toe and laughing Fox are there too, but they're kind
- 12:08Speaker 1: of a little bit behind him and crouch down. They're
- 12:10Speaker 1: like not really paying that much attention and laughing Fox says,
- 12:14Speaker 1: you're staring more than we are, dya how to toe
- 12:18Speaker 1: is like, why are you here again? Dya says, to
- 12:21Speaker 1: keep an eye on you too. He's still breathing really
- 12:24Speaker 1: heavy though, and we see that he's still even holding
- 12:28Speaker 1: the spoon that he was mixing the sauce with. I
- 12:30Speaker 1: guess that's how fast they went. Laughing Fox like scooches
- 12:34Speaker 1: forward like next to Daya and says multiple targets ready,
- 12:39Speaker 1: how to Toe, moves up to and says fire and
- 12:41Speaker 1: like pretends to shoot at them or something, and Diya's like,
- 12:46Speaker 1: are you crazy? They are? They push him forward. The
- 12:51Speaker 1: rustling of the bushes of Dya being pushed causes all
- 12:55Speaker 1: the girls to turn and raise their guns. Dyas out
- 13:00Speaker 1: of the bush and is now exposed kind of on
- 13:03Speaker 1: the ground, and he's just like ow. He looks up
- 13:06Speaker 1: at them and they gasp, but they have not lowered
- 13:09Speaker 1: their guns, and he's like, hey, wait no, and he
- 13:13Speaker 1: like raises his hands and they all lower their weapons. Phew.
- 13:17Speaker 1: But then they pick up some rocks and how to
- 13:20Speaker 1: toe and laughing Fox right now are still hidden by
- 13:22Speaker 1: the way how to toe you know, puts his hands
- 13:25Speaker 1: together like he's praying, and he's like, Dya and laughing
- 13:29Speaker 1: Fox says, you'll be missed. The girls are now just
- 13:33Speaker 1: throwing rocks at Daya and calling him a pervert, which
- 13:36Speaker 1: seems fair, and he tries to get up, but he
- 13:39Speaker 1: like falls over again, and then a big knife whizzes
- 13:42Speaker 1: past him and like hits the tree next to him,
- 13:44Speaker 1: and he screams. We see feet approaching him and it's
- 13:48Speaker 1: on jew and she says, so what is it, Dya?
- 13:52Speaker 1: She is holding her belt in her hands and she
- 13:55Speaker 1: kind of cracks it. Diya looks comically terrified, and he
- 13:58Speaker 1: says you can't and say, are you okay in a
- 14:01Speaker 1: cute voice, you know, anju fuck anjuw smiles and chuckles,
- 14:07Speaker 1: but she looks disgusted. Diya looks more terrified than he
- 14:11Speaker 1: was before now and tears are streaming down his face
- 14:14Speaker 1: and his nose is running, and Andrew says, oh my,
- 14:17Speaker 1: are you okay? Dya. Kaye grabs a rock and says
- 14:22Speaker 1: the rest of you need to show yourselves too, and
- 14:25Speaker 1: she throws it at the bushes and it hits Laughing
- 14:28Speaker 1: Fox in the back of the head and he loses
- 14:30Speaker 1: his cover and he like falls out of the bushes
- 14:32Speaker 1: and he's like ow and Hotoite pops out too and
- 14:36Speaker 1: is like THEO. Cool, we have a name. Laughing Fox
- 14:39Speaker 1: is THEO. But also now they're exposed, but that's their
- 14:42Speaker 1: fault anyway. Anyway, Now we cut to all three of
- 14:45Speaker 1: them sitting on their knees with the girls standing menacingly
- 14:50Speaker 1: over them as is appropriate. Kaye is holding Diya's spoon now,
- 14:55Speaker 1: which I think it's cool that it is still in
- 14:57Speaker 1: the scene, and she's like smacking it against her hand
- 15:02Speaker 1: and she says, so, what do you want? THEO rubs
- 15:06Speaker 1: his head and is like, you know, right, how to do?
- 15:11Speaker 1: How to? Doe's like right, Dia. Diya kind of jumps and
- 15:15Speaker 1: he's like me, well, you know, he's like tapping his
- 15:19Speaker 1: fingers together, and then he smiles and he's like, there
- 15:22Speaker 1: was something I wanted to ask you. Karina kind of
- 15:25Speaker 1: taps the power raid on her ear and says, why
- 15:28Speaker 1: didn't you just use your power raid? Diya's like, well,
- 15:32Speaker 1: we didn't want to interrupt the fun you girls are having,
- 15:34Speaker 1: right theods it'd be awkward if you were just talking
- 15:38Speaker 1: about romance, right, how did you like fold his hands
- 15:42Speaker 1: and is like, for example, if Karina were saying I
- 15:45Speaker 1: love Shin. Karina gasps and one of the girls is
- 15:49Speaker 1: like she was just saying that. Another girl gasps and
- 15:53Speaker 1: snaps her fingers and it's like, oh, let's have her
- 15:56Speaker 1: say that right before we think Shinn'll connect, She smirks evily.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I can't wait to see the reaction. Another girl says,
- 16:05Speaker 1: Karina's reaction, You mean you can't expect anything from shin Oh.
- 16:09Speaker 1: The reaper won't even raise an eyebrow. He's no fun
- 16:12Speaker 1: at all. Karina's like, I did not say that. Stop
- 16:15Speaker 1: at you, guys, and all the girls are like, you're
- 16:18Speaker 1: so cute, Karna. The guys look at each other like
- 16:22Speaker 1: what the fuck just happened? I thought they were like
- 16:24Speaker 1: gonna kill us, And then they start to laugh like
- 16:27Speaker 1: they're trying to join into this, and Kye turns back
- 16:31Speaker 1: to them dead serious and is like, so, what did
- 16:34Speaker 1: you want to ask us? They all jump. THEO turns
- 16:39Speaker 1: to hot to Toe and is like so, and then
- 16:42Speaker 1: Hot Too turns to Dia and says, Dia, Diya's like,
- 16:46Speaker 1: what me again? Well, the girls are waiting looming over them. Annoyed,
- 16:53Speaker 1: Dia thinks for a second, he's got an idea. What
- 16:56Speaker 1: is yobye Oh? That's the worst thing you can ask
- 17:01Speaker 1: because it shows that you're just sitting there listening to them.
- 17:05Speaker 1: And they all just start throwing like literally everything they
- 17:08Speaker 1: have at them, and Kye says I'm not telling you,
- 17:12Speaker 1: and they start to run for cover, and Diya's like,
- 17:13Speaker 1: I said, I'm sorry, And Karina is kind of watching
- 17:17Speaker 1: this all go down silently, and she smiles and then
- 17:21Speaker 1: she starts to laugh, and then we cut to her
- 17:24Speaker 1: standing up in the barracks. She turns off her parade
- 17:28Speaker 1: and silently leaves the common room where the rest of
- 17:30Speaker 1: the Juggernauts are sitting. Such a cool fucking transition from
- 17:34Speaker 1: her like happy and just having a really nice time
- 17:38Speaker 1: to clearly upset by something, but we don't know what. Anyway,
- 17:44Speaker 1: Lena is I guess talking to them because we hear
- 17:47Speaker 1: her say is something wrong. Sin is laying on the couch,
- 17:52Speaker 1: the cat is on his lap, and he's holding a
- 17:56Speaker 1: book up and reading it, and he says, there was
- 17:59Speaker 1: a rat. That's all Lena's like a rat. Theo looks
- 18:03Speaker 1: up from his sketch book as Da goes to follow Karna.
- 18:07Speaker 1: THEO says, you can try harder than that. I'm not
- 18:10Speaker 1: even sure what that was in regards to you, by
- 18:11Speaker 1: the way, but I wanted to point out that his
- 18:13Speaker 1: face is bandaged, and so is Dyas and Hatito's faces
- 18:16Speaker 1: because they've been hit by rocks and random things because
- 18:19Speaker 1: they were spying on the girls, So I thought that
- 18:22Speaker 1: was a nice touch. Anyway, Lena says, there are rats.
- 18:27Speaker 1: We get a close up on Shin's eye as he's
- 18:30Speaker 1: looking away from his book, and his eye kind of narrows,
- 18:33Speaker 1: and he says, yeah, there are We get to someone walking.
- 18:37Speaker 1: We have just kind of a close shot of their fists,
- 18:40Speaker 1: and we see that Diya is following Carena down the
- 18:42Speaker 1: hall and he says, Corna. Corna sighs and is like,
- 18:47Speaker 1: why does he talk with that woman every night? He
- 18:50Speaker 1: should be spending time with the rest of us. Oh jealous.
- 18:54Speaker 1: She turns back to face Daya. We could die tomorrow.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Diya's like, it's just for a no how the princess
- 19:00Speaker 1: will stop calling eventually. They're both just killing time. Karina's
- 19:05Speaker 1: fists or shaking, and she says, but why even bother
- 19:08Speaker 1: being nice to a white pig, Shin should just break
- 19:11Speaker 1: her already? What? Because what Dia exhales sharply. Shin doesn't
- 19:18Speaker 1: want to break any of them? What how does he
- 19:23Speaker 1: break them? I still don't know what has caused all
- 19:25Speaker 1: of these people to want to stay away from the
- 19:27Speaker 1: Spearhead squadron and possibly kill themselves, but apparently it's real anyway.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Daya walks towards Karna and says, and could you tell
- 19:36Speaker 1: that to Shin that you don't like her so you
- 19:39Speaker 1: want him to break her? Could you say that to him? Karna,
- 19:44Speaker 1: who had turned back around, turns around again and says, sorry,
- 19:48Speaker 1: but I still hate her. She's looking out the window
- 19:52Speaker 1: at that mural of the woman with like the sword,
- 19:55Speaker 1: you know. She continues, those white pigs killed my mom
- 19:59Speaker 1: and dad. They use them as target practice, like garbage.
- 20:03Speaker 1: All white pigs her scum. Fuck dude. She walks past
- 20:08Speaker 1: Daya and says, I'll never forgive any of them, Okay,
- 20:12Speaker 1: I mean, I understand DIA's eyes and turns his parade
- 20:17Speaker 1: back on, which I guess he had turned off when
- 20:19Speaker 1: he talked to Coarina, which makes sense, and he closes
- 20:22Speaker 1: the window. Back in the common room, Lena saying, really,
- 20:26Speaker 1: kersplut Kaye is like, yeah, all these stars came falling
- 20:31Speaker 1: down from the sky like rain. She looks over as
- 20:34Speaker 1: Karna and Dya are returning to the room. How to
- 20:37Speaker 1: Toe is kind of sitting next to her at a table,
- 20:39Speaker 1: and he's building a house of cards, and she continues,
- 20:42Speaker 1: there are streaks of light all across the whole sky.
- 20:45Speaker 1: It was amazing. How to Toe gasps as his cards fall.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Shin taps on the couch next to him, and Karna
- 20:53Speaker 1: walks over and sits down. Lena's like, there were really
- 20:57Speaker 1: that many shooting stars? Kaye, Yeah, I couldn't even count
- 21:02Speaker 1: them all. Carna picks up the cat right, and it's
- 21:06Speaker 1: like a meteor shower. I've seen one too, Lena says, really,
- 21:11Speaker 1: we see that ride In is doing a crossword puzzle
- 21:13Speaker 1: and like a little book, and he looks over at Daya.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I guess as he's returning, and then continues, Yeah, but
- 21:19Speaker 1: it was in the middle of a battlefield where both
- 21:21Speaker 1: my side and the enemy were annihilated and there was
- 21:23Speaker 1: only a single man besides me left. He looks over
- 21:27Speaker 1: at Shin right undertaker. Shin looks at him but doesn't
- 21:31Speaker 1: say anything. We see are who is sewing? I think?
- 21:34Speaker 1: She says, Well, that's not very romantic. Lena laughs, guess
- 21:40Speaker 1: not right. In continues, and to top it off, our
- 21:44Speaker 1: juggernauts ran out of gas. He's like twirling his pen
- 21:47Speaker 1: until Fido came back from wherever he went. And found us.
- 21:50Speaker 1: We couldn't even move. Lena says, Fido, we see Fido
- 21:55Speaker 1: outside and right and says, our dog. Some animal like
- 22:00Speaker 1: runs past Fido and he wakes up and he like
- 22:02Speaker 1: beeps a bunch, and Lena says, you have a dog too.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Dya's like, it's a very unusual dog. It doesn't go wolf,
- 22:10Speaker 1: it goes beep. Lena's like beep right, and says, knights
- 22:14Speaker 1: on the battlefield are so dark it's scary. We see
- 22:18Speaker 1: the stars out the window. And he continues, and then
- 22:21Speaker 1: these pale, silent lights began to fall from the sky,
- 22:25Speaker 1: one after another. He's like gesturing their movement. I'm actually
- 22:28Speaker 1: doing the same thing with my hands, by the way.
- 22:30Speaker 1: He puts his hand on his face and says, I
- 22:33Speaker 1: remember he said something weird then, and it was like
- 22:35Speaker 1: the biggest mistake of my life. What Kylduzzo says, what
- 22:39Speaker 1: did you say? Show Off? Righton says, I'm not telling.
- 22:44Speaker 1: He smiles, and he starts to say, if the Shin
- 22:47Speaker 1: cuts him off, if the last thing I see is this,
- 22:50Speaker 1: right In gasps. Shin continues, then maybe that's not so bad.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Everyone looks over at ride In and then they break
- 22:59Speaker 1: into laughter right In's like, why'd you have to tell her? Sheesh.
- 23:03Speaker 1: As they calm down, Kaye says, I doubt we'll ever
- 23:06Speaker 1: see something like that again. Lena's like, I wish I
- 23:10Speaker 1: could have seen the meteor shower too. Kaye says, you
- 23:13Speaker 1: couldn't see it where you are. Leana's like, the lights
- 23:16Speaker 1: in town don't shut off at night, so you can't
- 23:19Speaker 1: really see the stars here. Kaye says, you're right now
- 23:22Speaker 1: that I think about it, She's like tapping her boots together.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Nights here are really dark. There aren't a lot of
- 23:28Speaker 1: people here, more far from everything. She picks up some
- 23:31Speaker 1: cards and she starts to set some down, like she's
- 23:33Speaker 1: clearly playing a game with hotter and toe, but I
- 23:35Speaker 1: don't exactly know what it is, she continues, And we
- 23:38Speaker 1: shoot off the lights when we sleep, so the stars
- 23:40Speaker 1: are usually out. That's one of the good things about
- 23:43Speaker 1: living this life, definitely, Lena says, one of the good things.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Kaye is like, yep. There's kind of a pause, and
- 23:53Speaker 1: Lena says, kirshblued, do you hate us? Wow? Okay, we're
- 23:59Speaker 1: gonna go there. We get a quick flash to everyone's
- 24:02Speaker 1: sullen faces as she says this, and Kaye's like, well,
- 24:07Speaker 1: she's like taking a card from HoTT toes but deck
- 24:10Speaker 1: I don't know. They're like exchanging cards back and forth
- 24:12Speaker 1: and then putting them down if they have pairs or something.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I really don't know card games. Anyway, she says, well,
- 24:20Speaker 1: of course it hurts being discriminated against, and it makes
- 24:22Speaker 1: me mad. Life in the camps was hard, and I'll
- 24:25Speaker 1: always be scared when I fight. So as for the
- 24:28Speaker 1: people who force this on us and say it's okay,
- 24:30Speaker 1: since eighty six are livestock not human, I just can't
- 24:33Speaker 1: bring myself to like them, Lena says. But Kaye continues,
- 24:38Speaker 1: but I know not all of you all but are bad,
- 24:41Speaker 1: Just like how not all the eighty six are good.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Lena is like, huh. Kye kind of debates about what
- 24:47Speaker 1: card she's gonna take from HoTT to Toe and then
- 24:49Speaker 1: takes one and continues, I was one of the rarer
- 24:52Speaker 1: races among the eighty six. A lot of stuff happened
- 24:55Speaker 1: in the camps and in my previous units. Of course,
- 24:59Speaker 1: I wasn't the only one experience that I'm sure they
- 25:01Speaker 1: are good Alba two, not that I've met any, but
- 25:04Speaker 1: a few of my comrades have. She looks over at
- 25:07Speaker 1: THEO and he's drawn shooting stars and he stops and
- 25:11Speaker 1: looks back. She smiles at him, continues, so I won't
- 25:16Speaker 1: hate you just because you're an Alba. Lena says, I see,
- 25:21Speaker 1: I need to thank them. Then we see THEO again
- 25:23Speaker 1: as he's drawing, and his eyes just look blank and dead,
- 25:29Speaker 1: like he is so fucking fed up, and his eye
- 25:33Speaker 1: twitches as he fills the night sky and is drawing
- 25:36Speaker 1: with pencil like heavily shading it. At this point, Hatuto
- 25:41Speaker 1: takes one of Kaye's cards, leaving her with only a
- 25:44Speaker 1: Joker left. And this Joker looks like the Grim Raper
- 25:49Speaker 1: by the way, it has a scyphe in it. Yeah,
- 25:51Speaker 1: which doesn't make me feel very good. Kaye exhales when
- 25:55Speaker 1: she looks at it, and she says, handler won. She
- 25:59Speaker 1: sets down the Joker on the table. I'm taking a
- 26:02Speaker 1: bit of an interest in you. There's this kind of
- 26:05Speaker 1: immense tension as we flash back and forth from the
- 26:08Speaker 1: Joker Grim reapercard to THEO shading heavily the night sky.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Obviously this conversation hurts, Lena says, really, Kaye stands. Can
- 26:21Speaker 1: I ask you something. Then she stretches. Lena's like, sure,
- 26:25Speaker 1: go ahead. Then we see the title card episode three,
- 26:29Speaker 1: I Don't Want to Die. But we're not done, by
- 26:36Speaker 1: the way, because that would be a weird place to
- 26:38Speaker 1: end an episode called I Don't Want to Die. So
- 26:41Speaker 1: it's still June thirteenth. We're in a dimly lit library
- 26:45Speaker 1: with tons of books. We hear an Net say, why
- 26:48Speaker 1: am I doing this? Lena. We're panning through various aisles
- 26:53Speaker 1: and shelves of books, and we hear Lena say, I
- 26:56Speaker 1: bought you lunch, right, and that's like, you better buy
- 27:00Speaker 1: me dinner too. Where this isn't worth it? What do
- 27:02Speaker 1: you need a map for? Anyways? We now see Annette,
- 27:06Speaker 1: who is standing looking at a shelf and she is
- 27:08Speaker 1: a respirator mask on. I guess this is not a
- 27:12Speaker 1: place that has good air quality. Maybe there's mold. I
- 27:15Speaker 1: feel like there's probably mold. Yeah, Lena's kneeling on the
- 27:18Speaker 1: floor like going through a box. She has a like
- 27:21Speaker 1: a surgical mask on. So yeah, both of them don't
- 27:23Speaker 1: want to breathe this air very much. Anyway. Lena says,
- 27:27Speaker 1: I want to send it to them. They're fighting without
- 27:29Speaker 1: any decent maps Annette opens a box. You're bragging about
- 27:33Speaker 1: them again. Lana's like, well, they're amazing. They've been in
- 27:37Speaker 1: more battles than any other units in the past two
- 27:40Speaker 1: weeks and they still have zero casualties. Oh uh. Annette
- 27:45Speaker 1: is like looking through a book now and she says, yeah, yeah, amazing,
- 27:49Speaker 1: But would it kill you to tell me about a
- 27:51Speaker 1: guy that I could actually see. I'm having an awful
- 27:54Speaker 1: time with this new potential marriage partner. Leana's like theobald.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Annette sets on the floor. How long ago is that
- 28:04Speaker 1: it's humbered? His forehead goes all the way up to here.
- 28:08Speaker 1: She like points to like the top of her head
- 28:11Speaker 1: and says, and he just won't give up. I made
- 28:14Speaker 1: a huge mistake by giving him that handkerchief when we met.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Lena is going through another box and she takes out
- 28:20Speaker 1: some sort of rolled up paper and Annette continues, he
- 28:24Speaker 1: was sweating all the way up to here. She puts
- 28:26Speaker 1: her hand like up on her hair again, and then
- 28:29Speaker 1: she says, it bothers you, right. Lena is holding an
- 28:34Speaker 1: old poster. It's like an old Army Joined the Army
- 28:37Speaker 1: poster kind of deal, and she says, yeah, it does.
- 28:41Speaker 1: How did they know when the legion is going to attack.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Annette's like, she's not listening at all. Yeah, kind of
- 28:49Speaker 1: sucks hunt. Lena continues, it's really a mystery. They're always
- 28:54Speaker 1: ready to fight before the enemy even shows up. Annett's like, Lena,
- 28:58Speaker 1: don't get involved in any deep they're eighty six. She's reaching
- 29:02Speaker 1: for something at the top of a shelf. There's like
- 29:04Speaker 1: a box on it, and she's like trying to pull
- 29:06Speaker 1: it out from under it, and Lena says, don't worry.
- 29:10Speaker 1: We're all humans. We have a relationship of trust, oh sweetheart,
- 29:15Speaker 1: And that finally pulls out whatever it is from under
- 29:17Speaker 1: this box and it just knocks down on top of
- 29:20Speaker 1: her along with the box and falls onto the floor
- 29:22Speaker 1: and she jumps back so she doesn't get hit by
- 29:24Speaker 1: the box, so that's good. And Lena's like, what was
- 29:27Speaker 1: that because she wasn't looking. She was going through a
- 29:29Speaker 1: box and she runs over and she's like, are you okay?
- 29:31Speaker 1: And that's like I trust you major mainlysea Here she
- 29:35Speaker 1: hands over a bunch of maps. Yay. Lena grabs it
- 29:39Speaker 1: from her and is like, you found one. Annette says,
- 29:41Speaker 1: you owe me dinner. Lena's like thanks, now I can
- 29:44Speaker 1: help them again. And that says you can't even see it,
- 29:48Speaker 1: So yeah, I feel bad for Annette. All she wants
- 29:52Speaker 1: to do is talk about her ill advised romances with
- 29:55Speaker 1: these guys. That grows her out, and Lena just wants
- 29:58Speaker 1: to fucking talk about saving people's lives and these poor
- 30:03Speaker 1: people who are being forced to fight a war for
- 30:05Speaker 1: them against their will. Like, come on, Lena, get your
- 30:09Speaker 1: shit together, listen to your friend's dumb problems. But I
- 30:12Speaker 1: get it, I get it, and it just wants to
- 30:14Speaker 1: fucking pal around with her friend and talk about stupid things,
- 30:18Speaker 1: and Lena's not even hearing it, which sucks. It sucks
- 30:21Speaker 1: when you're not being listened to. But feel like Lena's
- 30:24Speaker 1: problems are a bigger deal, so shut the fuck up
- 30:26Speaker 1: in it or something I don't know. Also, and that
- 30:29Speaker 1: does just not seem to care about the eighty six,
- 30:32Speaker 1: these other races or whatever we want to call them,
- 30:35Speaker 1: so like, yeah, there was that too. Anyway. Lena has
- 30:40Speaker 1: a map or like a book of maps, is what
- 30:42Speaker 1: it looks like. Next we are kind of looking in
- 30:45Speaker 1: through Lena's bedroom window, which she's sitting at her desk,
- 30:48Speaker 1: and then we go inside and she says power raid
- 30:52Speaker 1: activate sacronization target spearhead processor. We hear a bunch of
- 30:55Speaker 1: noises like when it activates, and then she says, thank
- 30:59Speaker 1: you all for your hard work today. Sen says thank you,
- 31:03Speaker 1: Handler one. Someone else says, hey there, it's really hard
- 31:06Speaker 1: with these scenes because this whole scene is just focusing
- 31:09Speaker 1: on Lena, and I don't know who the fuck is
- 31:12Speaker 1: talking half the time. Anyway, THEO says thanks for your call.
- 31:16Speaker 1: As always, Lena's like undertaker. First off, their arrival date
- 31:21Speaker 1: for the resupply you requested the other day. She hears
- 31:24Speaker 1: the cat mew and she's kind of startled, and she
- 31:27Speaker 1: starts to look around her room for a cat, but
- 31:30Speaker 1: she doesn't see one because there's not a cat in
- 31:31Speaker 1: her room. So she continues, I'm sorry, but it's gonna
- 31:34Speaker 1: take a little while longer. The cat mews again, and
- 31:37Speaker 1: she's like, is that a cat? So the person who
- 31:40Speaker 1: answers her, I couldn't figure out who they were by
- 31:43Speaker 1: their voice because I'm still kind of new to their voices.
- 31:45Speaker 1: So luckily I have the first Light novel, so I
- 31:48Speaker 1: was able to just look at it and tell you
- 31:50Speaker 1: who's talking. So Da says yeah, we keep it at
- 31:53Speaker 1: the barracks. I'm the one who found it, by the way,
- 31:55Speaker 1: right after I got here, it was crying out in
- 31:57Speaker 1: front of a house that had been blown away by
- 31:59Speaker 1: a tank round. It's parents and siblings got flattened, but
- 32:02Speaker 1: it was just fine. Geez. THEO, I think, says, and
- 32:07Speaker 1: for some reason, it's taken more of a liking to
- 32:09Speaker 1: Undertaker than anyone else. On Ju's like, he doesn't play
- 32:13Speaker 1: with it at all. It just rubs up against him
- 32:15Speaker 1: all the time and he just pats it once in
- 32:17Speaker 1: a while. Diet maybe says, I think it's more like
- 32:20Speaker 1: it thinks he's a good bed. I mean, just look
- 32:23Speaker 1: at it right now. A Ju probably says, yeah, it
- 32:26Speaker 1: doesn't move at all when he's reading. Someone else is like,
- 32:30Speaker 1: it'll never get along with black Dog though he's too annoying.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Diya says that's mean and not fair. Lena chuckles. Dya continues,
- 32:38Speaker 1: I demand you take that back. Boo boo. Lena says,
- 32:43Speaker 1: what's its name? And in Unison everybody throws names at
- 32:47Speaker 1: her Blackie, Whitey, two tone, kitty shrimp remark. Lena is confused.
- 32:53Speaker 1: THEO says to Shin, who just said that its name
- 32:56Speaker 1: was remark, don't just name it after the author of
- 32:59Speaker 1: whatever book you're reading. Now, what are you even reading?
- 33:02Speaker 1: You have such bad taste. Lena says, uh, are there
- 33:07Speaker 1: lots of cats? They was like, were you listening? There's
- 33:11Speaker 1: just the one, Lena size. Someone says it's a black
- 33:14Speaker 1: cat with white paws, so it's called blacky whitey two tone.
- 33:18Speaker 1: It really doesn't have a particular name. Everyone just calls
- 33:20Speaker 1: it whatever they feel like at the moment. Lately, it
- 33:23Speaker 1: started coming over whenever you look at it and say something.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Lena is drawing a cat in her notebook and she says,
- 33:28Speaker 1: I see, but why at this point she's cut off.
- 33:32Speaker 1: We hear like a slam, and that is we can't
- 33:35Speaker 1: see it. But that is when Corna leaves the room,
- 33:39Speaker 1: which is so fucking cool because I didn't even realize
- 33:42Speaker 1: it was the same conversation until right now. But now
- 33:45Speaker 1: we're just seeing the other side of what happened. So
- 33:48Speaker 1: that's when Corna left the room when they were talking
- 33:50Speaker 1: about the cats. It's pretty interesting actually. Anyway, Lena says, huh,
- 33:57Speaker 1: is something wrong, and chenof course says, there's a rat,
- 34:00Speaker 1: that's all. And Lena's like a rat. We fast forward
- 34:04Speaker 1: a little bit in the conversation and Lena says, you
- 34:06Speaker 1: have a dog too, and whoever it was says, it's
- 34:10Speaker 1: a very unusual dog. I think that was DAYA. Go
- 34:12Speaker 1: forward a little bit further. They're all laughing. Further a
- 34:15Speaker 1: little bit more, and Lena says, I wish I could
- 34:18Speaker 1: have seen that meteor shower too, and Kaye's like, you
- 34:21Speaker 1: couldn't see where you are. We go forward a bit
- 34:24Speaker 1: and Lena says, I need to thank them. Then Kaye's like,
- 34:29Speaker 1: handler one, I'm taking a bit of an interest in you.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Lena says, really. Kaye is like, can I ask you something? Then? Ooh,
- 34:37Speaker 1: this is where we left off. Lena says, yeah, go ahead.
- 34:40Speaker 1: She's drawing like shooting stars and also a mouse in
- 34:43Speaker 1: her notebook. Now, Kaye says, why do you care about
- 34:47Speaker 1: us so much? Fuck? Lena kind of half gasps and sighs.
- 34:52Speaker 1: It's like, well, a long time ago, I was saved
- 34:57Speaker 1: on the battlefield by a processor. Well, and he said,
- 35:01Speaker 1: we are members of the republic. We were born here
- 35:03Speaker 1: and grew up here. It's a citizen's duty to protect
- 35:06Speaker 1: his country. I'm proud to do it. That's why we fight.
- 35:10Speaker 1: She is drawing a little smiling cheeby face that's wearing
- 35:14Speaker 1: glasses and has longish hair, and she says, I think
- 35:18Speaker 1: we need to live up to the example set by
- 35:19Speaker 1: his words. We ask you to fight, but we don't
- 35:22Speaker 1: even watch you do it, We don't even try to
- 35:25Speaker 1: know you. That goes against what he said, and it's terrible.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Kay is like handler one, She pauses, you're a virgin,
- 35:34Speaker 1: aren't you what. Lena kind of like stands up and
- 35:38Speaker 1: gasped and is like freaking out, like she doesn't really
- 35:40Speaker 1: know what to do with her anything right now, and
- 35:42Speaker 1: Kye is like, sorry, I didn't mean to say that.
- 35:44Speaker 1: What I meant was a like like a virgin, and
- 35:49Speaker 1: it sounds like maybe because of course we can't see spearhead,
- 35:53Speaker 1: but it sounds like maybe they're throwing things at her.
- 35:55Speaker 1: And Ryan is like, that's not any better. Kaye says,
- 35:59Speaker 1: I'm I mean like a young girl who thinks the
- 36:02Speaker 1: world is made of fields and flowers, like you have
- 36:06Speaker 1: an untarnished, pure ideal. H What I wanted to say
- 36:11Speaker 1: is you're not a bad person. Lena is finally collecting
- 36:16Speaker 1: herself and she kind of gasps and then she smiles.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Kaye continues, So I'm going to warn you you aren't
- 36:23Speaker 1: cut out for this job. Lena gasps. Kaye says, and
- 36:28Speaker 1: you shouldn't get involved with us. We're not fighting for
- 36:31Speaker 1: noble reasons like those, so there's no need for you
- 36:35Speaker 1: to talk to us. You should get someone else to
- 36:38Speaker 1: take your place before you regret it. Fuck. We get
- 36:41Speaker 1: a quick shot of the moon as clouds are passing
- 36:43Speaker 1: in front of it. Yo, So I guess I can
- 36:46Speaker 1: pause and just say, what the fuck? That was really
- 36:49Speaker 1: really cool? So yeah, I like that Spearhead Squadron is
- 36:54Speaker 1: wary of Lena, and it's really worrying me how read
- 37:00Speaker 1: they are for her and this whole thing about breaking
- 37:03Speaker 1: her and what is going on. But I really like
- 37:07Speaker 1: Kaye right now. She's really interesting, really kind of says
- 37:11Speaker 1: what she thinks even when it's not very appropriate, and
- 37:14Speaker 1: is really having this cool kind of heart to heart
- 37:16Speaker 1: with Lena, and I really like that. Anyway, Moving right along,
- 37:21Speaker 1: it is now June fifteenth, twenty one, forty eight, so
- 37:24Speaker 1: it's the next day. Lena is in the kind of
- 37:27Speaker 1: command room and she's looking at like a heat map
- 37:31Speaker 1: on the screen. I think I'm not really sure, and
- 37:34Speaker 1: she says Handler one to all units enemy cited on radar.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Her hand is bald and a fist, and we see
- 37:40Speaker 1: that the book of maps is sitting on her desk.
- 37:43Speaker 1: She says, the enemy is Shin cuts her off. We're aware,
- 37:46Speaker 1: Handler one, Lena gasps. Shin continues, we're prepared to engage.
- 37:51Speaker 1: In point four seventy eight, Lena's like, oh, Roger, that
- 37:54Speaker 1: undertaker we see on the screen, like it has the
- 37:57Speaker 1: roster of the spearhead people including Gunslinger, Dendrospiss, I don't know,
- 38:03Speaker 1: and burnt tail. Coarina says, Undertaker Gunslinger in position. Theo's
- 38:09Speaker 1: like laughing fox to Undertaker. Third platoon is in position.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Lena is looking at their positions on the screen. Undertaker,
- 38:16Speaker 1: please move Gunslinger five hundred. It doesn't say what kind
- 38:19Speaker 1: of units from her present position direction two o'clock. She
- 38:24Speaker 1: is pointing to the map and the map that she
- 38:28Speaker 1: has by the way that she found in the library.
- 38:31Speaker 1: It's like a topographical map, so you can see all
- 38:34Speaker 1: the changes in elevation and stuff. She continues. You can't
- 38:38Speaker 1: see it from where you are, but there's high ground there.
- 38:40Speaker 1: You can use the hill to provide cover. Sin's like, confirming, Gunslinger,
- 38:45Speaker 1: can you see the point from where you are? Corana says,
- 38:48Speaker 1: hold on. Lena is listening silently. She seems stressed, kind
- 38:52Speaker 1: of playing with her hair, and then Corana says, yeah,
- 38:55Speaker 1: it's here. Lena's like, you'll be in the opposite position
- 38:59Speaker 1: from the first plitz your main attackers when you move
- 39:02Speaker 1: from the suppressive fire phase to defend in detail, it
- 39:05Speaker 1: should help camouflage your main unit's position at the start
- 39:07Speaker 1: of the battle. I didn't understand any of that righte in,
- 39:11Speaker 1: I think, says a decoy. Basically, Lena kind of gasps,
- 39:14Speaker 1: Writing continues, you got the voice of a princess, but
- 39:17Speaker 1: you're pretty impressive. Lana's like, floes can't fire at an
- 39:20Speaker 1: elevated angle. They can't bombard her directly while she's there,
- 39:24Speaker 1: and when she shifts positions right and cuts her off.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Don't get the wrong idea. It's not a bad idea,
- 39:28Speaker 1: right guns layer. Karina is like, I'll do anything if
- 39:32Speaker 1: it'll help the rest of us. Lena kind of exhales
- 39:35Speaker 1: and smiles. Karina continues, did you find a new map
- 39:38Speaker 1: that's helpful, Lena says, Should I send it? Later, and
- 39:42Speaker 1: right In's like, is that okay sending classified information like
- 39:45Speaker 1: a map to eighty six? Geez, it's the map? Why
- 39:48Speaker 1: is it classified? Lena says, I don't care. What good
- 39:52Speaker 1: is information if you don't use it. Right In's like
- 39:55Speaker 1: you think so? Huh, Lena says, and you're not eighty
- 39:59Speaker 1: six at least I never called you. Brydon cuts her off.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Right right here they come. Fuck. We hear gunfire erupt
- 40:07Speaker 1: in the background as Lena's eyes scan like back and
- 40:09Speaker 1: forth from the roster to like the enemy positions, and
- 40:12Speaker 1: we see that a bunch of enemies are being taken
- 40:14Speaker 1: out by Undertaker Yeay. At this point, the ending theme
- 40:17Speaker 1: starts to play. Maybe we're getting close to the end
- 40:20Speaker 1: of the episode. Who knows? Kaye says, target down. Fourth
- 40:24Speaker 1: Platoon is moving. We see Kersblute's little icon moving towards
- 40:28Speaker 1: an enemy on the screen, and Lena says, what's that
- 40:31Speaker 1: low doing over there? Yes, the low is by itself
- 40:35Speaker 1: and Kershblute is moving towards it. Kaye says, Lukosia, maybe
- 40:41Speaker 1: I'll hit it from the left. Back me up. She
- 40:44Speaker 1: is still moving towards the low. Lena starts looking at
- 40:47Speaker 1: the map that she has, and she's like, you know,
- 40:49Speaker 1: placing her finger across it to see if she can
- 40:51Speaker 1: figure out where Cursblute is, and Lukosia says Roger Kirstblute.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Lena's finger scans until it reaches the area which is
- 41:00Speaker 1: water according to the map, and she gasps. She says,
- 41:05Speaker 1: not that way, here's Blute. She's like reaching out to
- 41:08Speaker 1: the screen as if that would help. And we see
- 41:11Speaker 1: on the screen Kris Blute's speed and power just dropped
- 41:15Speaker 1: to zero, and we hear the sound of a crash
- 41:19Speaker 1: and water and Kaye says, wetlands here. Remember what I
- 41:24Speaker 1: said about their feet not being great on stable ground.
- 41:28Speaker 1: On the screen, we see that the enemy is still advancing,
- 41:30Speaker 1: but Ker's Blute is not moving anymore, and Lena's arm
- 41:33Speaker 1: is still outstretched, and we hear Kaye say, I can't move.
- 41:38Speaker 1: We cut back and forth between the screen and Lena's
- 41:42Speaker 1: hanging open mouth until the enemy overtakes Kershblute and Kaye
- 41:47Speaker 1: very calmly says, no, I don't want to die. Lena gasps.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Let me go to the ending theme. This time it's
- 42:00Speaker 1: a picture of the control room with Lena's chair and
- 42:03Speaker 1: you can't see her, but I'm pretty sure she's in it,
- 42:06Speaker 1: and the picture is red except for the white screens.
- 42:10Speaker 1: It's not over. We come back with the close shots
- 42:14Speaker 1: of Lena, just the back of her head. She is
- 42:17Speaker 1: leaning forward in her chair, and you know, from the
- 42:20Speaker 1: general position it looks like she's just slumped over onto
- 42:23Speaker 1: the desk, as I would probably be too, because we've
- 42:27Speaker 1: just watched maybe Kanye die. She very flatly says, mission complete.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Good work everyone. There's a pause. I'm sorry about Kurshblute.
- 42:40Speaker 1: If only I found the map sooner. She is gasping
- 42:43Speaker 1: and maybe beginning to cry, if only I'd done a
- 42:46Speaker 1: better job. We still can't really see her, just kind
- 42:50Speaker 1: of the back of her head, which is still just
- 42:52Speaker 1: pretty cool because it's all on voice acting at this point.
- 42:56Speaker 1: And then THEO says, sorry, what are you sorry about?
- 43:01Speaker 1: What the fuck? THEO? Lena sits back up completely in gasps.
- 43:06Speaker 1: THEO continues, from your perspective, the death of a few
- 43:10Speaker 1: eighty six is something you can forget by the time
- 43:12Speaker 1: you go home for dinner. Sure, we don't have much
- 43:15Speaker 1: to do here, so when nothing's going on, we play
- 43:18Speaker 1: along with this act where you say I don't discriminate
- 43:21Speaker 1: even if other people do. I don't treat you like pigs.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Lena gulps. Her expression looks more and more distressed as
- 43:28Speaker 1: he speaks. THEO continues, but we just lost one of
- 43:32Speaker 1: our comrades. Understand that we don't have time to deal
- 43:35Speaker 1: with your hypocrisy right now. Lena says, hypocrisy. THEO does
- 43:39Speaker 1: not let her talk. Or what do you think that
- 43:42Speaker 1: we don't care when one of our own dies? Lena
- 43:45Speaker 1: looks destroyed, like in shock. Yeah, maybe you're right, after all,
- 43:52Speaker 1: we're not high minded humans like you. We're pigs less
- 43:56Speaker 1: than human. Leah is like shaking her head no, and
- 43:59Speaker 1: she's like, no, I didn't. THEO cuts her off. Don't
- 44:03Speaker 1: try to deny it. You throw us out here on
- 44:05Speaker 1: the battlefield and treat us like weapons. Lena is gripping
- 44:08Speaker 1: her chest, doubled over while you get to watch from
- 44:11Speaker 1: your warm, safe place behind the walls and it doesn't
- 44:14Speaker 1: even bother you at all. If that's not treating us
- 44:16Speaker 1: like pigs, what is You never called us eighty six,
- 44:20Speaker 1: but all that means is you've left it on said,
- 44:22Speaker 1: do you think we're out here fighting because we want to?
- 44:24Speaker 1: Lena is shaking her head again, horrified. You locked us
- 44:28Speaker 1: out here, forced us to fight, You cause deaths of
- 44:31Speaker 1: millions over the last nine years. Lena is trying to
- 44:35Speaker 1: back away into her chair, and you do nothing to
- 44:38Speaker 1: stop it. You think if you just act nice and
- 44:41Speaker 1: talk to us every day, that counts as treating us
- 44:43Speaker 1: like humans, don't you. Lena looks horrified and she grabs
- 44:46Speaker 1: her head like to try to cover herself, and THEO continues,
- 44:50Speaker 1: you never even asked our real names. We focus in
- 44:54Speaker 1: on the shock in Lena's eyes as he says that.
- 44:58Speaker 1: She breathes shakily as tea start to form. The teardrop
- 45:02Speaker 1: falls and kind of shimmers and morphs into the moon,
- 45:05Speaker 1: hitting the rim of the flower face on her windowsill,
- 45:08Speaker 1: bereft of flowers. Then we go to the title card
- 45:12Speaker 1: next episode, Real Name, and that's it. Yey fuck. I
- 45:17Speaker 1: hope I did that justice. Maybe I should do another take.
- 45:19Speaker 1: I kind of liked it, so I'm gona leave it
- 45:21Speaker 1: and hope I don't have to redo it. Yay. Anyway,
- 45:24Speaker 1: I love that episode. So first of all, let's start
- 45:26Speaker 1: with the end scene, because it is the most important
- 45:29Speaker 1: thing that happened here in my opinion, which is THEO
- 45:32Speaker 1: fucking monologing his way into my heart. Honestly, I love
- 45:36Speaker 1: him right now. I I think the first time I
- 45:39Speaker 1: watched this, I didn't realize it was THEO, because again,
- 45:42Speaker 1: we are just hearing their voices and seeing Lena's reactions
- 45:45Speaker 1: to what he's saying, which are really hard because Lena
- 45:48Speaker 1: is so fucking crushed by this and she needed to be.
- 45:52Speaker 1: So I don't know if I loved THEO, because I
- 45:55Speaker 1: don't remember if I even knew it was him, but
- 45:57Speaker 1: I love THEO right now. That was amazing, Like she okay,
- 46:03Speaker 1: so she's so well intentioned, and I'm so happy that
- 46:07Speaker 1: this show is doing it this way. Really props to
- 46:10Speaker 1: Asado Asado for writing it like this, because we have
- 46:14Speaker 1: Lena who's like this really optimistic, sweet character, and it
- 46:19Speaker 1: could have just been her inserting herself into Spearhead and
- 46:24Speaker 1: they're all like, Wow, this person's really different than them
- 46:27Speaker 1: and we really like her and now everything's gonna be good.
- 46:31Speaker 1: And that would have been so insincere because they are
- 46:35Speaker 1: fucking dying and she's watching them die and she's not
- 46:39Speaker 1: doing anything and it hurts them and they're trying to
- 46:44Speaker 1: be nice because they're nice people and she seems like
- 46:48Speaker 1: she's probably a nice person too, but she's fucking complicit
- 46:52Speaker 1: in their deaths. So somebody needed to say it, and
- 46:58Speaker 1: it had to be THEO, as he was sick of
- 47:00Speaker 1: this shit, and we could see earlier in the episode
- 47:03Speaker 1: that he was fucking sick of this shit because as
- 47:06Speaker 1: nice as she is, she's still part of the government
- 47:10Speaker 1: that is doing this to them and it's not acceptable
- 47:14Speaker 1: and she needs to know that because in order for
- 47:17Speaker 1: her to even grow a little bit, she is to
- 47:20Speaker 1: realize that this is not okay, that her talking to
- 47:25Speaker 1: them every day like their people does not mean that
- 47:29Speaker 1: the way that she's treating them is like people, because
- 47:31Speaker 1: it's not. So. Yeah, I've like fucking love this, and
- 47:39Speaker 1: you may know this already about me, but I fucking
- 47:41Speaker 1: love when a character that is not being open with
- 47:45Speaker 1: their emotions. Not that THEO is closed off or anything,
- 47:49Speaker 1: but he felt forced to go along with this, and
- 47:52Speaker 1: I love when that character is like, fuck it, I'm
- 47:54Speaker 1: just gonna say it. So do I feel bad for Lena, Yeah,
- 48:00Speaker 1: I do, because she is inherently good and she does
- 48:06Speaker 1: want to help. But she needs to hear this because
- 48:10Speaker 1: what she's doing right now isn't enough at all, and
- 48:14Speaker 1: if she wants to do more, she's gonna have to
- 48:16Speaker 1: put herself at risk. Otherwise they're all gonna die, just
- 48:20Speaker 1: like Kye died. Fuck. I am a little bit emotional
- 48:25Speaker 1: about this, and I didn't expect to be. That's not true.
- 48:29Speaker 1: When I was taking notes, there were a couple of
- 48:31Speaker 1: times I got chills. So that usually means I like
- 48:36Speaker 1: something if I have some sort of, you know, response
- 48:39Speaker 1: to it, right, So yeah, yeah, I really really like this,
- 48:45Speaker 1: and I like where they're taking her character and where
- 48:49Speaker 1: they're taking the Spearhead Squadron characters because again, they're not
- 48:52Speaker 1: taking shit either. And I love this kind of duel
- 48:57Speaker 1: back and forth where we're seeing what Spearhead sees when
- 49:00Speaker 1: they're talking to Lena, and we're seeing what Lena sees
- 49:03Speaker 1: when she's talking to Spearhead, because they're not exactly the same.
- 49:06Speaker 1: So the whole thing with Kaye getting pissed off when
- 49:09Speaker 1: they're talking about the cat's name, which might be relating
- 49:12Speaker 1: to the fact that Lena doesn't know any of their
- 49:14Speaker 1: names and she's sick of this shit. I mean, besides
- 49:16Speaker 1: the fact that she likes Shin and she wants she
- 49:19Speaker 1: to talk to her or not Lena. But I think
- 49:21Speaker 1: it's more than that. It's so interesting to see how
- 49:24Speaker 1: different it looks from both sides. So yeah, I love that,
- 49:30Speaker 1: and they'll do that several more times. I'll tell you
- 49:33Speaker 1: right now. The next episode, I believe, starts off with
- 49:36Speaker 1: THEO talking to Lena from Theo's point of view, and
- 49:41Speaker 1: we can see what the rest of Spearhead was thinking
- 49:43Speaker 1: because they didn't interrupt him, which I thought was interesting.
- 49:46Speaker 1: You think eventually Shin would have said something like THEO
- 49:49Speaker 1: shut the fuck up, but he doesn't. Nobody says anything
- 49:53Speaker 1: because he's right. So yeah, I don't even know what
- 49:59Speaker 1: else there is to say. I mean, that is the
- 50:00Speaker 1: main thing that's going on here. The only other thing is,
- 50:03Speaker 1: of course, this whole thing going on with They seem
- 50:07Speaker 1: to know when the Legion is coming before Lena does,
- 50:10Speaker 1: which isn't because she's incomfident. It's because it's not on
- 50:13Speaker 1: radar yet for some reason, and Shin is supposed to
- 50:17Speaker 1: break her, but he doesn't do it on purpose, Like,
- 50:20Speaker 1: what does this mean? Where are we gonna go with this?
- 50:24Speaker 1: I wonder if you know, I wonder if you have ideas. Oh,
- 50:28Speaker 1: I have a thing that I can ask you if
- 50:30Speaker 1: you have like an idea and you're like, I know
- 50:33Speaker 1: what's going to happen, especially like absolutely if you haven't
- 50:37Speaker 1: seen it, you can totally email me. My email is
- 50:41Speaker 1: at the show notes all the time. There's like a
- 50:43Speaker 1: quote and then my email, so you can email me,
- 50:46Speaker 1: and it would be fun to know what your thoughts
- 50:49Speaker 1: are and how you think that this is gonna go.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Like what are they doing that just totally breaks these people?
- 50:54Speaker 1: I mean besides THEO just yelling at her because that
- 50:56Speaker 1: messed her up too, But I don't think that's what's
- 50:59Speaker 1: messing up these other guys who you know, we heard
- 51:02Speaker 1: this guy screaming like die pigs and shit at the beginning,
- 51:05Speaker 1: so I don't think giving them a taste of reality
- 51:09Speaker 1: is really what's going on. So yeah, I'm excited now anyway,
- 51:14Speaker 1: that's like all I got, And now I'm like super
- 51:16Speaker 1: happy I'm doing this because this was so much fun
- 51:19Speaker 1: and I hope the other episodes are fun for me too,
- 51:21Speaker 1: And I don't regret, you know, doing eighty six, and
- 51:24Speaker 1: you don't regret watching it, because that'd be sad. But
- 51:27Speaker 1: that's pretty much all I got so yeah, man, fucking
- 51:32Speaker 1: a THEO really just be it super cool. Anyway, I
- 51:38Speaker 1: hope you have a really great whatever, and I will
- 51:41Speaker 1: see you next week unless we're dead or you're dead
- 51:45Speaker 1: or I'm dead, you know that kind of thing. Later
- 51:47Speaker 1: weeps
