- 2:49Speaker 3: talk about Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards, Good morning, Mayor, welcome
- 2:52Speaker 3: to the show.
- 2:54Speaker 5: Good morning to you, my friend. How are you doing today?
- 2:56Speaker 3: I am doing fine. Tell us all about this big
- 2:58Speaker 3: event on Saturday.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Wow, Well this thereity, I mean, we have an annual event.
- 3:02Speaker 5: It's it's called our Main Street Spring Festival. We shut
- 3:04Speaker 5: down Main Street and it's it's lots of spring. Fun
- 3:08Speaker 5: is in Sore for everybody, and everything is free. As
- 3:10Speaker 5: you know, we talked about this before. All of our
- 3:13Speaker 5: events in Hurricane are always free, free, free, and what
- 3:17Speaker 5: I mean by that is free admission inflatables, ice cream, cotton, candy,
- 3:21Speaker 5: face painting, games, fun zones for little you know, for
- 3:24Speaker 5: the little ones. Everything is free. And then we have
- 3:27Speaker 5: some free entertainment happening. So at one thirty and three thirty,
- 3:31Speaker 5: Andy McKee of the Zoologies on Science Center. You know
- 3:35Speaker 5: about the Zoology Zone.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I believe Andy's friend.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Yeah, Andy, Andy's a great guy. And the Guyanne River
- 3:42Speaker 5: Claggers at two thirty and I'll tell you if you're around,
- 3:45Speaker 5: you could come on down. I'm sure they would. The
- 3:47Speaker 5: guy in River Claggers. We get you on stage. I
- 3:49Speaker 5: would love to see that.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Look. Uh you put me on stage attempting to dance.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Somebody will call nine to one one and say some
- 3:56Speaker 3: dudes having a seizure up there.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Uh, well we could rate, we could raise money for
- 4:00Speaker 5: your favorite charity. We put you on stage. Yeah, man,
- 4:04Speaker 5: I mean, if you want to do it, let's do it.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Well, if I'll do it, if you do may or
- 4:08Speaker 3: how's that we'll see?
- 4:10Speaker 6: All right?
- 4:11Speaker 3: All right, what else do you have?
- 4:12Speaker 5: Let's see so art and craft vendors. We have a
- 4:15Speaker 5: bunch of art and craft vendors, and you can come
- 4:17Speaker 5: buy something for yourself or a shop for Mother's Day,
- 4:19Speaker 5: which is coming up, don't forget another's day. And then
- 4:23Speaker 5: food vendors. We have Scraggle Pop. Everybody loves Scraggle Pop.
- 4:27Speaker 5: But we also have mosh Pit Munchies and the Wavy
- 4:29Speaker 5: Beach Taco Company. These are food trucks. You come there,
- 4:33Speaker 5: you do buy your food from food trucks, so we
- 4:35Speaker 5: can't control that, but everything else is free.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Let me get a little plug in here, just real quick, Marre,
- 4:40Speaker 3: let me get a little plug in here for the
- 4:41Speaker 3: folks at mosh Pit Monchies. I did a live broadcast
- 4:45Speaker 3: on our sister station ninety eight seven a mounth in
- 4:47Speaker 3: a couple of weeks ago here in Charleston, and the
- 4:48Speaker 3: folks from mosh Pit Mounchies were there. I'm gonna tell
- 4:51Speaker 3: you that's some pretty good stuff.
- 4:53Speaker 5: They have.
- 4:53Speaker 3: This thing that they do with corn, and I can't
- 4:55Speaker 3: remember exactly what it is that they call it, but
- 4:58Speaker 3: basically it's like a gourmet corn on the cob with
- 5:02Speaker 3: about twenty different varieties that you can get on at
- 5:05Speaker 3: everything from like salsa or Asian or whatever you want.
- 5:09Speaker 3: They're they're the real I'm sure they're all good, these
- 5:11Speaker 3: mosh pit munchies, folks, that they're the real deal.
- 5:15Speaker 5: I have heard the exact same thing. I haven't had
- 5:17Speaker 5: it myself, and I've heard exactly what your exact story
- 5:19Speaker 5: that you just said. I've heard the same thing from
- 5:21Speaker 5: many people.
- 5:22Speaker 3: And they also do some killer some killer funnel cakes too.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Because I had to take home to my I brought
- 5:26Speaker 3: home one one or two for my family.
- 5:30Speaker 7: My wife.
- 5:30Speaker 3: My wife likes funnel cakes, so I had to bring
- 5:32Speaker 3: her one anyway.
- 5:34Speaker 5: And that's good. And and you know, if people after
- 5:36Speaker 5: they have some moshpit munchies and some tacos and that
- 5:39Speaker 5: type of thing, they can also you know, there's other
- 5:42Speaker 5: places in Hurricane uh to you know, other restaurants to
- 5:47Speaker 5: eat right on main street or and they can also
- 5:50Speaker 5: shop at our local businesses. I always like to take
- 5:52Speaker 5: every opportunity I can uh to tell people to shop small,
- 5:56Speaker 5: shop local. You know we have oodles and Sunny Sky's
- 5:59Speaker 5: boot could bear the Bearwood Company, Hurricane Floral. There's others.
- 6:03Speaker 5: I mean, those are the ones right there, right where
- 6:05Speaker 5: the main street will be shut down. And I'd be
- 6:10Speaker 5: remiss if I didn't mention our sponsors. I want to
- 6:13Speaker 5: run through a couple of The presenting sponsor is my
- 6:17Speaker 5: friend Aaron McAllister with Electronic Services. We have some platinum
- 6:21Speaker 5: sponsors Putnham County Bank, that's Virginia Heating Cooling and the
- 6:24Speaker 5: Family Wealth Group. Those are our platinum sponsors that sponsor
- 6:28Speaker 5: every event all year long.
- 6:31Speaker 8: Uh.
- 6:31Speaker 5: And then some other annual sponsors Martins, Peterbilt, Cardinal Chevrolet,
- 6:35Speaker 5: Caldwell Insurance, odell Worth, Adonis and Creative Pediatric Dentistry, Westrio,
- 6:40Speaker 5: American Water, Tyree, Emriing Associates, RIEOH four, Valley Point, Bailey
- 6:45Speaker 5: and Bailey Heating Cooling, Bailey and Bailey Roofing. And then
- 6:48Speaker 5: some specific event specific sponsors c AMC's Valley Hospital, State Farm,
- 6:54Speaker 5: Todd Moore and Kevin z Audibady. That's a lot of sponsors,
- 6:58Speaker 5: and we have many others for all the other events
- 7:00Speaker 5: we do throughout there throughout the year. But that's those
- 7:03Speaker 5: sponsors make it, make everything free.
- 7:06Speaker 9: We do so many.
- 7:07Speaker 5: Giveaways, you know, all the other free stuff at our
- 7:10Speaker 5: Fourth of July, at our Harvest Festival, everything is always free.
- 7:13Speaker 5: And I appreciate those sponsors.
- 7:15Speaker 3: And I also want to throw this out there too.
- 7:17Speaker 3: And if I am incorrect on this, you can correct me,
- 7:20Speaker 3: or my buddy Connie there can correct me. I think
- 7:24Speaker 3: this Friday. I think this Saturday is also the opening
- 7:28Speaker 3: of the Putnam County Farmers Market.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I do believe it is.
- 7:31Speaker 5: And I don't know for sure, but I believe it
- 7:36Speaker 5: is too.
- 7:36Speaker 3: It's a lot of those open up the firs. And
- 7:38Speaker 3: if I'm wrong, I'll correct that. But yeah, it's the
- 7:41Speaker 3: Journal and that's in the lot just if you take
- 7:43Speaker 3: the Tay's Valley exit. That's in the lot next to
- 7:45Speaker 3: where Arby's is and a nextdoor area thirty four is.
- 7:48Speaker 3: And I say that to say, you can spend the
- 7:50Speaker 3: day in Putnam County, mayor you can come out for
- 7:52Speaker 3: early for the Putnam Farmers Market, then head on the
- 7:54Speaker 3: on down the main street.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Correct. And there's another farmers market at Valley Park that
- 7:59Speaker 5: opens this weekend. Yeah, so it's amazing and I will
- 8:02Speaker 5: also plug we you know, we have a big sports complex,
- 8:06Speaker 5: the Putnam Canye Bank Sports Complex at Hurricane Bridge Park.
- 8:10Speaker 5: We will have third thirty six I believe teams in
- 8:14Speaker 5: this weekend. Thirty four baseball teams, travel teams will be
- 8:19Speaker 5: in Hurricane all weekend playing on our new fields that
- 8:25Speaker 5: we have. So it's an amazing thing that happens about
- 8:28Speaker 5: every weekend in Hurricane. Throughout the spring and summer, teams
- 8:32Speaker 5: come all over and it's bringing a lot of money
- 8:35Speaker 5: to Hurricane.
- 8:35Speaker 3: That's what we like to hear of a Dave Allen
- 8:37Speaker 3: showing five Ady Live brought to you in part by
- 8:39Speaker 3: Bridge Valley offering custom Taylor Training to supply schooled graduates
- 8:42Speaker 3: and apprenticeships for your company. Visit Bridge Valley dot edu
- 8:45Speaker 3: on those same lines. Mayor, before we let you go,
- 8:48Speaker 3: I didn't want to ask you about a couple of
- 8:49Speaker 3: things about development in Putnam County, specifically in Hurricane and
- 8:52Speaker 3: the surrounding areas. I went on a little I know,
- 8:55Speaker 3: I know you to find this very hard to believe.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I'm a really easy going guy, Mayor, but sometimes things
- 9:01Speaker 3: irritate me, and I gotta and I gotta put something
- 9:03Speaker 3: out there. And I did haunt Air not long ago
- 9:06Speaker 3: and had to do with Tay's Valley and it had
- 9:08Speaker 3: to do with Putnam County, and it was about the
- 9:10Speaker 3: traffic situation. You will never hear now. I get a
- 9:13Speaker 3: little frustrated like other people do. But as I always say,
- 9:16Speaker 3: mayor how many, how many counties, communities in this state
- 9:21Speaker 3: would kill to have a traffic problem like Tays Valley does.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Go down to McDowell County, go down to some of
- 9:25Speaker 3: the other areas and complain about your traffic problem. It's
- 9:29Speaker 3: a good problem to have, it's.
- 9:31Speaker 5: A great problem to have. I look forward to continuing
- 9:33Speaker 5: to work with the state to fix our traffic problems.
- 9:37Speaker 5: But we are going to keep growing. There's no you
- 9:40Speaker 5: know what what our role is. My role and County Commission,
- 9:43Speaker 5: those type folks. We have to you know somewhat. I mean,
- 9:46Speaker 5: we can't control it all. It's happening. We have to
- 9:50Speaker 5: try to control the growth a little bit and and
- 9:53Speaker 5: work directly with the state, you know, Department Highways and
- 9:56Speaker 5: our legislature. You know, we need their their money. They
- 10:01Speaker 5: have to come and fix the main roadways. They're not
- 10:03Speaker 5: owned by the city or the county. And I get
- 10:05Speaker 5: this question ten times a day every day for the
- 10:08Speaker 5: last ten years. But you're absolutely right. You go to
- 10:13Speaker 5: any other county other than three or four other counties,
- 10:16Speaker 5: the other fifty would beg to have our problems, absolutely
- 10:20Speaker 5: beg to have them. And it is so exciting seeing
- 10:22Speaker 5: the growth that's happening here in Hurricane and Putnam County.
- 10:25Speaker 5: It's absolutely amazing. And there's so much more to come.
- 10:28Speaker 5: Oh yeah, you know, and I can't say specific names,
- 10:32Speaker 5: but you know, restaurants, other retail type shops. There are
- 10:36Speaker 5: things that are on the verge of happening right now,
- 10:39Speaker 5: and it's really getting good. You know, with the new
- 10:41Speaker 5: Kelodon Interchange, it's happening, and that's bringing a lot of
- 10:47Speaker 5: a lot of talk and chatter about those type of
- 10:49Speaker 5: things happening very soon.
- 10:51Speaker 3: And you got that major housing development that's going on
- 10:53Speaker 3: that's actually about a half a mile down the road
- 10:54Speaker 3: from my house, near near where Wendy's is. And I
- 10:58Speaker 3: mean those units, so I've seen them online. I haven't
- 11:01Speaker 3: seen him in person, Mayor, but I've seen them online.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Those are some pretty impressive looking housing facilities.
- 11:07Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the three or four Valley Point right behind Wendy's,
- 11:11Speaker 5: and everything they have completed is I believe is leased,
- 11:15Speaker 5: and they're pre leasing right now. And I mean people
- 11:19Speaker 5: want to live there. And some people ask me, they said,
- 11:22Speaker 5: may there's no way people are going to live there.
- 11:24Speaker 5: I said, well, I hate to tell you that they're
- 11:26Speaker 5: already pre leasing for buildings that aren't even completed yet.
- 11:29Speaker 5: So if you want to get on that list, go
- 11:31Speaker 5: to them now. Get your name on the list now,
- 11:35Speaker 5: and if you've got one more thirty second. I do
- 11:38Speaker 5: want to remind everybody the Run for the Wall is
- 11:42Speaker 5: coming back to Hurricane this year. Wednesday made the twenty first.
- 11:45Speaker 5: I know that's a little bit away, three weeks away,
- 11:47Speaker 5: but Run for the Wall it's very special. Those thousands
- 11:52Speaker 5: of motor men and women on motorcycles be rolling off
- 11:55Speaker 5: the I sixty four into the Valley Park around five
- 11:58Speaker 5: pm on that day and everybody always comes out, but
- 12:02Speaker 5: I'll ask everybody again, put it on your calendar, come
- 12:05Speaker 5: out line the sidewalks, wave those American flags, and welcome
- 12:09Speaker 5: these veterans, you know, right into Hurricane, and then come
- 12:12Speaker 5: to Valley Park for an evening of this a special
- 12:15Speaker 5: time with the veterans and talk to these folks there.
- 12:17Speaker 5: They're absolutely amazing and their stories will will bring a
- 12:20Speaker 5: tear to your eye.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Hey, mayor give us the details because Amanda will fire
- 12:25Speaker 3: both of us. You're Amanda, not mine if if you
- 12:28Speaker 3: don't get all the details about the Spring Festival on there,
- 12:31Speaker 3: So go ahead.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Yes, Spring Festival this Saturday, May the third, one to
- 12:35Speaker 5: five pm on Main Street one to five pm. Everything's
- 12:40Speaker 5: free inflatable as ice cream, you know, cotton, candy, all
- 12:42Speaker 5: all kinds of stuff. Uh, you know we're going to
- 12:45Speaker 5: have have free for everybody. Live entertainment at one three
- 12:49Speaker 5: thirty by Animi Kid, the Zology Zone, guy in River
- 12:52Speaker 5: Cloggers and you on stage at two thirty. Art and
- 12:56Speaker 5: craft vendors, food vendors, all that stuff. And you know
- 13:00Speaker 5: there's a there's a chance of some scattered thunderstorms that
- 13:03Speaker 5: type of thing. We do have an option of bringing
- 13:06Speaker 5: some of that inside to the old fire Department, So
- 13:09Speaker 5: I'm not scared of the weather at all. It's gonna
- 13:11Speaker 5: be a fun and awesome day.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yep, and indeed it is going to be married. Is
- 13:16Speaker 3: always a pleasure to have you on the show. Real
- 13:19Speaker 3: quick though, I'm gonna get ask you for another thirty seconds.
- 13:21Speaker 3: What about parking, because you know it's not Sometimes parking
- 13:26Speaker 3: can be an issue. When you get into downtown Hurricane.
- 13:30Speaker 5: For this event, parking is is definitely an issue. People
- 13:35Speaker 5: park everywhere throughout town and walk right on over. They'll
- 13:37Speaker 5: they'll park everywhere. They'll park at local churches, they'll park
- 13:42Speaker 5: along the street. You know, you'll walk three or four
- 13:45Speaker 5: five blocks. And it's so fun sitting at like Putnham
- 13:49Speaker 5: County Bank and downtown Hurricane and seeing people walking down
- 13:53Speaker 5: Dudding Avenue and and people I know, people I don't know.
- 13:56Speaker 5: I'm like any They parked at the middle school. They
- 13:58Speaker 5: park different places and then come enjoy a free event
- 14:01Speaker 5: for the day.
- 14:01Speaker 7: Got it.
- 14:02Speaker 3: We gotta love it. Hey, Mayor, I will let you
- 14:04Speaker 3: get back to work. I appreciate you being here. We'll
- 14:06Speaker 3: talk again soon and I'll see you Saturday. Buddy, thanks
- 14:08Speaker 3: a lot.
- 14:08Speaker 5: Uh see you on stage, my friend all right.

- 16:50Speaker 3: Textays Dave. The problem with traffic and Hurricane area is
- 16:54Speaker 3: school traffic that should not happen. Make those kids ride
- 16:57Speaker 3: the buses.
- 17:00Speaker 7: Amen, like I did. Yeah, I got like we did
- 17:03Speaker 7: back ro the bus uphill both ways day. Yeah.
- 17:06Speaker 3: And the snow and ice and everything. It just kills me. Man,
- 17:09Speaker 3: That's one of the things. Again, it didn't delegate to
- 17:11Speaker 3: jb Acres by the way parents.
- 17:14Speaker 12: Put the kids on the bus please, I mean my kids.
- 17:17Speaker 12: So you know, my wife and I live up and
- 17:19Speaker 12: we live here in Charleston. Our kids have all gone
- 17:21Speaker 12: through John Adams and George Washington High School, and the
- 17:23Speaker 12: traffic up there is a complete mess during drop off
- 17:26Speaker 12: and pick up time. And yeah, it's most A lot
- 17:30Speaker 12: of parents are taking their kids to and from school.
- 17:32Speaker 3: And there, and there are situations delegate have to well
- 17:36Speaker 3: you have to when it's more convenient for working it.
- 17:38Speaker 3: But you can't tell me. And I've said this before,
- 17:40Speaker 3: and I promise we'll get into more important stuff. I've
- 17:42Speaker 3: said this before. And I'm the old guy. You know,
- 17:44Speaker 3: I'll be fifty five here in a few months, So
- 17:46Speaker 3: I'm the old guy.
- 17:47Speaker 5: Now.
- 17:47Speaker 3: I know you didn't think I was that old delegate.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Uh but uh, back when I was like a kid,
- 17:53Speaker 3: you didn't want you would have you would have been
- 17:55Speaker 3: mortified to have your parents take you to school. We
- 17:58Speaker 3: didn't want people to know we had parents.
- 18:00Speaker 7: Now I like it. I liked riding the bus, actually,
- 18:01Speaker 7: I mean, I mean if.
- 18:03Speaker 3: You had a doctor's appointment or something, you're running light
- 18:05Speaker 3: and a parent had to take it, school, a school dance, whatever, youbody,
- 18:08Speaker 3: Just let me off over here, I'll walk the next mile.
- 18:09Speaker 3: If you don't want people to see your parents, god forbid,
- 18:12Speaker 3: why would anybody you know? You don't want people to
- 18:13Speaker 3: know you have parents.
- 18:14Speaker 7: Yeah, I got a funny, and we'll get back and
- 18:15Speaker 7: we'll get them other stuff.
- 18:16Speaker 6: Minute.
- 18:17Speaker 12: I got a funny story. I had a buddy I
- 18:18Speaker 12: knew years ago who he had that same thing. He
- 18:21Speaker 12: was embarrassed if his dad tak him to school, which
- 18:23Speaker 12: he shouldn't be, but you just were. He was a
- 18:25Speaker 12: middle school kid through jun junior high, I get the time.
- 18:28Speaker 12: So he would always ask his dad to drop him
- 18:30Speaker 12: off like a little further away from school, And finally
- 18:31Speaker 12: his dad figured it out, and so one day his
- 18:34Speaker 12: dad literally drove like right to their front, like up
- 18:36Speaker 12: on the sidewalk, basically to drop him off, to teach
- 18:38Speaker 12: him a little bit of a lesson.
- 18:39Speaker 3: So don't be ashamed of That's exactly right. And I
- 18:42Speaker 3: say that not saying that anybody should be ashamed of
- 18:44Speaker 3: their parents. I'm just saying that you kids used to
- 18:46Speaker 3: go through that phase when you'd be like your parents
- 18:49Speaker 3: if you're in a store, like, don't talk to me,
- 18:50Speaker 3: you know, just a don't night clockword and uh, just
- 18:53Speaker 3: parents put your kids on the bus.
- 18:55Speaker 6: All right.
- 18:55Speaker 7: How you doing, man, I'm great, man. This is the
- 18:58Speaker 7: first time been in the new studio.
- 18:59Speaker 12: It's funny you messaged me yesterday about coming on today,
- 19:02Speaker 12: which I'm glad I had time to do it. And
- 19:04Speaker 12: I was thinking on the day before about messaging you
- 19:08Speaker 12: to see if I could come on.
- 19:09Speaker 7: At some points, I guess we were both thinking the
- 19:10Speaker 7: same thing.
- 19:11Speaker 3: I guess I guess both thinking how much that we
- 19:13Speaker 3: love relish on hot dogs.
- 19:16Speaker 7: Some folks do, some folks don't, Dave.
- 19:17Speaker 3: It's a running joke. It's a running joke between you
- 19:20Speaker 3: and your lovely wife. All right, so session is wrapped up.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Give me an overview, and then I'll ask you some
- 19:26Speaker 3: specific questions. Happy not happy?
- 19:29Speaker 6: So so well.
- 19:30Speaker 12: Always I'm always optimistic about things, and I always say,
- 19:35Speaker 12: and this is true. I don't just say this. It
- 19:37Speaker 12: is a privilege to be in the capital. It's a
- 19:39Speaker 12: privilege to serve It absolutely is. I tell people that
- 19:42Speaker 12: all the time. Politics is not something I ever thought
- 19:45Speaker 12: I would get into. Come from a blue class or
- 19:47Speaker 12: blue collar working class family. I had nobody in politics
- 19:51Speaker 12: in my family, so never saw myself being here. So
- 19:53Speaker 12: it is definitely a privilege of service. So you will
- 19:56Speaker 12: never hear me complain about being in the legislature and government.
- 20:00Speaker 12: I mean, there are days when it's frustrating, but I'm
- 20:03Speaker 12: lucky to be there, and I like the vast majority
- 20:06Speaker 12: of people I serve with. I really do on both sides,
- 20:10Speaker 12: and so I like being there.
- 20:11Speaker 7: I like the work. I like talking to constituents.
- 20:15Speaker 12: Yesterday or two days ago, I drove out to a
- 20:17Speaker 12: constituent's house personally. She emailed me about some issues she
- 20:20Speaker 12: had with the road near her house, and I went
- 20:21Speaker 12: out and just went to a home and announced, and
- 20:23Speaker 12: I said, hey, how can I help?
- 20:24Speaker 7: And I enjoy doing that kind of stuff. The thing
- 20:26Speaker 7: I enjoy the very.
- 20:27Speaker 12: Most is working on stuff that's going to hopefully create
- 20:30Speaker 12: jobs and economic prosperity in the state. So I'm kind
- 20:35Speaker 12: of back in that mode during the legislative session. For
- 20:37Speaker 12: people who don't know, I'm the chair of what's called
- 20:39Speaker 12: the Judiciary Committee. So that's how I spend most of
- 20:42Speaker 12: my time while we're in session, but more we're not
- 20:44Speaker 12: in session, I focus on constituent services, which is like
- 20:47Speaker 12: helping the lady I went out to visit Hernshaw a
- 20:49Speaker 12: couple of days ago, or trying to make sure we
- 20:51Speaker 12: get as many good jobs here as possible. Now during
- 20:53Speaker 12: session this year, if you're gonna ask me for an
- 20:55Speaker 12: honest overview of what happened, I mean, just being perfectly
- 20:59Speaker 12: honest with you, I'd probably give us a B minus.
- 21:02Speaker 7: This session.
- 21:02Speaker 3: That's a higher than some have given it.
- 21:04Speaker 12: Well, some people hate them. You know, they're going to
- 21:06Speaker 12: bet a signing no matter what you're right. I mean,
- 21:08Speaker 12: I kind of make this joke. I say, if we
- 21:10Speaker 12: passed a bill or a law that said that everybody
- 21:12Speaker 12: who wants one gets a free puppy, there'll be people
- 21:14Speaker 12: who would say, you know, where's the free kitten?
- 21:16Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 21:16Speaker 3: So that's that's a great analogy.
- 21:18Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 21:18Speaker 12: So, I mean there's some people you'll never make happy.
- 21:20Speaker 12: There's some people who they think it's their job in
- 21:22Speaker 12: life to be critical of everything that happens. You know,
- 21:26Speaker 12: some people will give us a higher grade than I did.
- 21:28Speaker 12: Some people will give us a lub. But when I
- 21:29Speaker 12: say that, let's be clear. When I say, you know,
- 21:31Speaker 12: when I say a B minus, it's because I would
- 21:33Speaker 12: have personally liked to have seen more economic job related
- 21:38Speaker 12: issues going through.
- 21:38Speaker 7: And I'm not being critical though. That's hard. Like you
- 21:41Speaker 7: cannot legislate a new job into existence. You have to
- 21:45Speaker 7: incentivize the structure. You have to create ways for to
- 21:49Speaker 7: you know, try to create incentives for companies to want
- 21:51Speaker 7: to be here. You can create a better structure for
- 21:53Speaker 7: companies that are here to grow, create incentives for companies
- 21:56Speaker 7: people who live in the state to create new businesses.
- 21:58Speaker 7: We should be focusing on that, and we did some
- 22:01Speaker 7: of them, I saying there was none and you know,
- 22:03Speaker 7: some people who do like to be I think hypercritical
- 22:05Speaker 7: times that we call it the micro a Grid Bill,
- 22:08Speaker 7: which just got signed into law yesterday. That's one that
- 22:11Speaker 7: it's hard to explain that at the time that we
- 22:13Speaker 7: have to some extent everything that it does. But that's
- 22:15Speaker 7: an extremely important bill, and so I give us, you know,
- 22:19Speaker 7: very high marks for getting that done, because that was
- 22:20Speaker 7: a difficult bill to work on.
- 22:22Speaker 12: That was I was one of the co sponsors of
- 22:23Speaker 12: that bill. That bill is going to pay long term
- 22:26Speaker 12: dividends in West Virginia. You're not going to see immediate effects,
- 22:30Speaker 12: I think from it, other than we're already getting more
- 22:32Speaker 12: interest from companies. I was in a meeting a couple
- 22:34Speaker 12: of days ago with a company who wants to locate here,
- 22:37Speaker 12: and part of the reason why is because of that
- 22:39Speaker 12: micro a Grid bill, which is that's an extremely important bill.
- 22:43Speaker 7: To the state of West Virginia.
- 22:44Speaker 12: So we you know, I'm not patting myself in the
- 22:46Speaker 12: back for that, but that's one that we should all
- 22:48Speaker 12: be celebrating. I saw some criticism that bill which blew
- 22:51Speaker 12: my mind. That bill is great and I think long
- 22:53Speaker 12: term is going to create a lot of I'm talking
- 22:55Speaker 12: about billions of dollars of investment in the state. The
- 22:58Speaker 12: bill doesn't just deal with data centers, but that's what
- 23:01Speaker 12: you hear about most with it. I mean, Dave, some
- 23:03Speaker 12: of these data centers are multiples of billions of dollars
- 23:08Speaker 12: of investment.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Uh.
- 23:09Speaker 7: And we have the energy here that they need.
- 23:11Speaker 12: These microgrids allow you to co locate your power generation
- 23:14Speaker 12: on the same property as a data center or some
- 23:17Speaker 12: other industry, and we have those resources they need and
- 23:20Speaker 12: these projects, if we get them, they will be These
- 23:23Speaker 12: projects are worth literally billions of dollars.
- 23:25Speaker 7: We haven't seen anything like it before.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Let me just throw this out there. You will understand
- 23:31Speaker 3: because even though you've not been in the legislature that long,
- 23:33Speaker 3: you've followed politics of course for a long time, and
- 23:35Speaker 3: you're a West Virginian. You know it's like I am,
- 23:37Speaker 3: and the majority of listeners are in the past. Sometimes
- 23:40Speaker 3: we've heard about this is going to be the next
- 23:42Speaker 3: big thing, you know, and a lot of times it's
- 23:45Speaker 3: specific to a community. You know this is going to
- 23:47Speaker 3: come out. I know in southern West Virginia, we heard
- 23:49Speaker 3: we're going to do this major, this major and it
- 23:51Speaker 3: fell through and we're going to do this and it
- 23:53Speaker 3: turned out not to be as big as we thought
- 23:56Speaker 3: it was going to be. What would you say to
- 23:58Speaker 3: people that may think that, well, we we've heard a
- 24:00Speaker 3: lot of this in the past. What makes this different?
- 24:03Speaker 3: Your selling point.
- 24:03Speaker 12: Would be, We've never had anything like this before, nothing comparable.
- 24:07Speaker 12: You know, we had like somewhat of a test run
- 24:09Speaker 12: with the time Met facility. I'll give you an example
- 24:12Speaker 12: that's up around the Mason County Jackson County area, which
- 24:15Speaker 12: that air whole corridor is exploding right now between new
- 24:17Speaker 12: Core and Timet and some other projects. Time Met we
- 24:21Speaker 12: allowed them to co locate some power on their property.
- 24:24Speaker 12: It's one of the reasons why they came to West Virginia.
- 24:27Speaker 12: So we know that this incentive works. If you allow
- 24:29Speaker 12: these companies to create some of their own power generation,
- 24:33Speaker 12: they will locate in your state.
- 24:34Speaker 7: So this is going to pay off.
- 24:36Speaker 12: This is what these Again, this isn't just for data centers,
- 24:39Speaker 12: but data centers in particular are asking for this and
- 24:41Speaker 12: if we didn't do it, someone else would and these
- 24:44Speaker 12: projects would have gone somewhere else.
- 24:46Speaker 7: So this is going to work.
- 24:47Speaker 12: I'm not saying it's going to solve all our problems, Dave,
- 24:49Speaker 12: but this is a big piece of the puzzle.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Talking again with Dell get to Gbacres. Dave Allen showing
- 24:54Speaker 3: five eighty Live is brought to you part by Pinnacle Consultants.
- 24:56Speaker 3: They're lead paint inspection risk assessment services are designed to
- 25:00Speaker 3: identify and to assess the presence of lead based pain
- 25:02Speaker 3: the buildings and other structures using a three phase approach
- 25:06Speaker 3: of inspection, sampling, the lab analysis, and an assessment report.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Visit Pinnacle court dot net. Because what you don't know
- 25:11Speaker 3: can hurt you. One of the things going back to
- 25:14Speaker 3: the data centers, micro grids, whatever you you know that
- 25:18Speaker 3: there were some concerns. I don't think it was necessarily criticism,
- 25:21Speaker 3: but there were some concerns from some of the counties.
- 25:23Speaker 3: We heard from some county commissions, economic development authorities. And
- 25:27Speaker 3: I'm presuming because I haven't once once the governor and
- 25:31Speaker 3: the governor just signed a bill, but over the last
- 25:33Speaker 3: week or so, I haven't heard. I'm not saying they're
- 25:35Speaker 3: not out there, Delegate, but I haven't heard any more
- 25:38Speaker 3: of those concerns. So I'm presuming you guys, and you're
- 25:41Speaker 3: a co sponsor, were able to alleviate some of the
- 25:44Speaker 3: fears and answer some of the questions that these counties
- 25:46Speaker 3: and these governmental entities had.
- 25:47Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean, one of the issues the counties had
- 25:50Speaker 12: was they thought they weren't going to get enough revenue
- 25:51Speaker 12: within county if these projects located there. So we changed
- 25:56Speaker 12: that bill so that I think thirty percent of the
- 25:58Speaker 12: revenue generated on the property taxes will stay in county. Now,
- 26:01Speaker 12: that's one of the compromises we made, and I'm sure
- 26:04Speaker 12: that some counties want one hundred percent, but I don't think, frankly,
- 26:06Speaker 12: that that would have been fair across the board. These
- 26:09Speaker 12: projects will generate potentially so much revenue, and they affect
- 26:12Speaker 12: not just the county, but entire region, really the entire state,
- 26:15Speaker 12: and so I think I think the formula we came
- 26:19Speaker 12: up with eventually, and we did some other things with
- 26:21Speaker 12: the money, we are going to use it to reduce
- 26:23Speaker 12: the personal I'm sorry, the income tax in the state
- 26:28Speaker 12: of Westvirginia and personal income tax. That's that's part of
- 26:30Speaker 12: the incentive of this new law to eventually hopefully wipe
- 26:35Speaker 12: the personal income tax out West Virginia, which is a
- 26:38Speaker 12: goal I think a lot of us share that'll help
- 26:40Speaker 12: us grow as well. So, I mean, so there's that
- 26:42Speaker 12: bill does a lot of different things and a lot
- 26:44Speaker 12: of positives to talk about with it. And these first
- 26:47Speaker 12: some people say, too, Dave quickly, Yeah, some of the
- 26:49Speaker 12: criticism of the data centers are heard. I mean, just
- 26:52Speaker 12: really don't know where it came from. Some folks were like,
- 26:54Speaker 12: these don't create a whole lot of jobs.
- 26:56Speaker 7: Well, d'uring.
- 26:56Speaker 12: In the construction phase, it create tons of jobs, and
- 26:58Speaker 12: then even when they're open, and even just a medium
- 27:01Speaker 12: sized data center should create at least one hundred to
- 27:03Speaker 12: a couple hundred jobs, which you know, is that thousands
- 27:06Speaker 12: of jobs? No, but these are all good, high paying,
- 27:09Speaker 12: permanent jobs. I mean, these projects will be in place
- 27:11Speaker 12: that with the amount of investment you have. If you
- 27:13Speaker 12: invest a billion dollars in a project or more, it's
- 27:15Speaker 12: going to be there for a long time. That's one
- 27:17Speaker 12: of the things I've argued for is we need to
- 27:19Speaker 12: create generational jobs in West Virginia, jobs that keep our
- 27:22Speaker 12: kids and grandkids here and these are the types of
- 27:24Speaker 12: projects that'll do that.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Again, we're talking with Deligate to jb Acres, I'm going
- 27:28Speaker 3: to go to the National Front just for a moment,
- 27:30Speaker 3: because you know we've and I'm not gonna put you
- 27:33Speaker 3: in a bad position here, but there's been a lot
- 27:35Speaker 3: of concern about certain things with the with the Trump administration,
- 27:38Speaker 3: some of the cuts and and doze and things of
- 27:40Speaker 3: that nature. I know, and this I don't know. We've
- 27:42Speaker 3: seen a lot in this area, but I mean with
- 27:44Speaker 3: the folks with Niosh and Morgantown been a little concerned.
- 27:47Speaker 3: And we've had Senator Shelley Moore Capito on the show.
- 27:49Speaker 3: We've had Senator Justice on the show. We've had Congressman
- 27:53Speaker 3: Riley Moore to his name a few that have expressed
- 27:56Speaker 3: concern over some of the and I think the governor,
- 27:59Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Senator Justice called it the danger of cutting
- 28:02Speaker 3: too close to the to the fence, as he put
- 28:04Speaker 3: it in that gym justice kind of way. Are any
- 28:07Speaker 3: concerns from you or your or your other fellow members
- 28:09Speaker 3: of the legislator a legislature, because we haven't heard a
- 28:11Speaker 3: lot from from members of the legislature about that.
- 28:14Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean within my district, I haven't seen I
- 28:17Speaker 12: mean just within my fifty fifth district, we haven't seen
- 28:20Speaker 12: a lot of impact specifically, but statewide, yeah, I got
- 28:24Speaker 12: a lot of concerns, Dave.
- 28:26Speaker 7: I think, you know, this is what happens.
- 28:28Speaker 12: When we kick the can down the road on some
- 28:30Speaker 12: of these issues too long than when the government reacts,
- 28:33Speaker 12: You're going to see probably an overaction to some extent.
- 28:35Speaker 12: And when the federal government in particular gets involved, it
- 28:38Speaker 12: operates like a sword, not a scalpel. It doesn't operate
- 28:41Speaker 12: with precision a lot of time. So you know, I
- 28:43Speaker 12: think it's I mean, who can argue that the federal
- 28:46Speaker 12: government doesn't spend too much of our tax money.
- 28:49Speaker 3: It does.
- 28:50Speaker 12: We got to figure out ways to make sure that
- 28:52Speaker 12: our tax money is spent responsibly. But when the federal
- 28:54Speaker 12: government starts making these broadcuts, you're going to see some
- 28:56Speaker 12: people who are treat unfairly. You're going to see some
- 28:58Speaker 12: folks who deserve their job who are going to be
- 29:00Speaker 12: in danger of losing them.
- 29:01Speaker 7: And I don't like that.
- 29:02Speaker 12: So we need to have a way of identifying the
- 29:05Speaker 12: methods of making sure the dollars are spent correctly while
- 29:08Speaker 12: also making sure that the people who provide a good
- 29:11Speaker 12: service for our taxpayers keep their jobs, especially with regard
- 29:14Speaker 12: to folks in West Virginia. Parkersburg was another hot spot recently.
- 29:19Speaker 12: So we need to protect those the jobs that we
- 29:21Speaker 12: that should be here. And we you know, if the government,
- 29:24Speaker 12: the government needs to build to like follow this process
- 29:27Speaker 12: and if we see that we're making a mistake, then
- 29:30Speaker 12: back off and fix it. Don't just say well, we
- 29:32Speaker 12: made the decision and maybe it was the wrong decision,
- 29:34Speaker 12: but we're going to go with it. I mean, that
- 29:35Speaker 12: can't be the approach that we take.
- 29:36Speaker 3: I know you got to get out of here because
- 29:38Speaker 3: you had a meeting to get to. But one quick
- 29:39Speaker 3: thirty second question your special session?
- 29:41Speaker 7: Any uh uh?
- 29:43Speaker 12: Any ideas for that? And I know that's it's more
- 29:45Speaker 12: likely going to happen. What do you get, well, I mean,
- 29:47Speaker 12: we'll definitely have one. I can't exactly when. It'll probably
- 29:51Speaker 12: involve pe I A or at least at one point
- 29:53Speaker 12: during this year.
- 29:53Speaker 7: I think it will.
- 29:55Speaker 12: And PEI is a good example of how I think
- 29:57Speaker 12: that we have over promised and under delivered a lot
- 30:00Speaker 12: of ways. We need to have PIA for our state employees.
- 30:04Speaker 12: It's a valuable benefit for them, but we have got
- 30:07Speaker 12: to make some fixes to it before it gets to
- 30:09Speaker 12: the point where it can be fixed.
- 30:10Speaker 3: And I just know it.
- 30:11Speaker 12: I'm being honest, there's going to be some pain. I'm
- 30:13Speaker 12: sure with whatever fix we come up with, there is
- 30:15Speaker 12: no perfect solution. But that's something I'm sure we're going
- 30:18Speaker 12: to be asked to address, and we've got to do
- 30:20Speaker 12: it responsibly, and we've got to make sure we're fair
- 30:22Speaker 12: to the people who live and work in the state.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Delegate, we'll let you go because I know you said
- 30:25Speaker 3: you had a meeting into Capital to get to, so
- 30:26Speaker 3: we'll let you get out of here.
- 30:27Speaker 7: Hey, thanks for having me a man, all right, thanks
- 30:29Speaker 7: a lot.

- 33:20Speaker 3: here and then we're gonna I'm probably gonna regret this,
- 33:22Speaker 3: but we're gonna go talk to my friend Tony the
- 33:24Speaker 3: Taylor on the air. Oh my god, I hope the
- 33:27Speaker 3: DeLay's working. Text says these centers will not come for
- 33:30Speaker 3: another eight to ten years. That's what they're not telling
- 33:32Speaker 3: people if they come at all not enough workers here. Well,
- 33:36Speaker 3: I will say this, there's I have concerns about the
- 33:40Speaker 3: workforce for this or any other job because you know
- 33:45Speaker 3: that thing about that You've heard me say it before.
- 33:47Speaker 3: I hate to be so negative, but that thing about
- 33:49Speaker 3: the West Virginia work ethic I be a thing of
- 33:53Speaker 3: the past. And and we're gonna have to We're gonna
- 33:55Speaker 3: have to bring people in to work the jobs. I mean,
- 33:58Speaker 3: it's good again, good problem to have. Let me see.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Let's checking our friend Tony the Taylor Tony, how you doing?
- 34:09Speaker 6: Good morning?
- 34:10Speaker 7: How are you buddy?
- 34:11Speaker 5: All right?
- 34:12Speaker 3: You're the sponsor of the text line, and senior producer
- 34:14Speaker 3: Ryan Nicholson pointed out, instead of him calling the show,
- 34:18Speaker 3: why doesn't he just text in on the on the
- 34:19Speaker 3: text line that he pays for.
- 34:22Speaker 6: Probably you wouldn't have to turn the delay on if
- 34:24Speaker 6: we did that.
- 34:26Speaker 3: You're not gonna get any of us fired here, Tony, okay,
- 34:28Speaker 3: because if not, if not, then you're gonna have to
- 34:30Speaker 3: fire Ryan. And I'm gonna you're Ryan, and I'm gonna
- 34:33Speaker 3: have to go down there and work. And I don't
- 34:34Speaker 3: think anybody dots me tailoring suits.
- 34:36Speaker 6: What do you got?
- 34:37Speaker 3: What do you got going on down now? I'm more
- 34:39Speaker 3: interested in the in the sausages you're growing up.
- 34:41Speaker 6: She's in pepper Sanwich. So we've got our Brax trunk
- 34:44Speaker 6: show today, which is our one of my most popular
- 34:47Speaker 6: trunk shows and one of their biggest trunk shows in
- 34:50Speaker 6: the country. We have Brax pants, which are casual pants.
- 34:56Speaker 6: Renee is here with Brax. He's the president of Brax
- 34:58Speaker 6: and he has the entire collection. We have them at
- 35:02Speaker 6: twenty percent off each pair, or if you buy three pair,
- 35:04Speaker 6: you get the fourth pair free. In addition, I'm growing
- 35:08Speaker 6: out up front, which we historically do in a summer
- 35:11Speaker 6: trunk show. My famous sausage and pepper sandwiches and I
- 35:15Speaker 6: have some burgers going also.
- 35:17Speaker 3: What is it that make sure a sausage and pepper
- 35:19Speaker 3: sandwich is so famous? Anthony?
- 35:21Speaker 6: Well, it's my Italian sausage and I'm the grill master.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Well, as I said, we got into a little discussion
- 35:30Speaker 3: on the midday show yesterday about Pepperoni rolls because my
- 35:32Speaker 3: buddy Rob Cornelius out of the Parkersburg area, was in
- 35:36Speaker 3: town yesterday and brought us some Pepperoni rolls. Up there
- 35:38Speaker 3: and they were good. But I will say, and that's
- 35:42Speaker 3: what I was gonna say. They said, I said, these
- 35:44Speaker 3: do not pass the Tony the Taylor Muster the test
- 35:47Speaker 3: because they're not stick pepperoni. You say that it's not.
- 35:51Speaker 3: There's two things I've learned since you and I have
- 35:53Speaker 3: been friends. Okay, Number one, there's no such thing as
- 35:55Speaker 3: a black dress shirt. And then in the okay, all right,
- 35:59Speaker 3: all right? And number two. Number two is is that
- 36:03Speaker 3: real West Virginia pepperoni rolls can only be used with
- 36:06Speaker 3: stick pepperoni and no cheese.
- 36:08Speaker 6: Is that right? Correct? Correct? Cause Country Club Bakery who
- 36:12Speaker 6: invented them on a mass scale stick pepperoni, all right,
- 36:15Speaker 6: and that's the standard. If you've had cheese and all
- 36:19Speaker 6: that other stuff. You got a cal zone, right Stromboli
- 36:21Speaker 6: if you heat it up.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it's some good stuff, but it's not a traditional
- 36:25Speaker 3: it's not delicious.
- 36:26Speaker 6: But I'm disappointed in Rob Cornelius.
- 36:28Speaker 3: All right, d And Rob, I'm sure he's listening wherever
- 36:30Speaker 3: he is right now. All right, So the sale is
- 36:33Speaker 3: going on now. It started eleven this morning? Is that
- 36:35Speaker 3: what you said?
- 36:36Speaker 6: Starts at eleven and goes to six o'clock tonight.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Now, I noticed as I was driving in that there's
- 36:41Speaker 3: some things going on city improvements or whatever going on
- 36:44Speaker 3: by your store there. It's not going to impact people
- 36:46Speaker 3: getting down there, right.
- 36:47Speaker 6: No, they're putting in new fiber line down Hall Street,
- 36:51Speaker 6: so parking on Hall Street is non existent. You can
- 36:54Speaker 6: still drive down Hale. We have parking at City National
- 36:57Speaker 6: Bank in their lot or on the first two floors
- 36:59Speaker 6: of the City Parking Garage. It hasn't impacted our business.
- 37:02Speaker 6: We have had the past two weeks have been just
- 37:05Speaker 6: completely busy. So nobody has not come in here because
- 37:09Speaker 6: they couldn't get a parking right beside the store. There's
- 37:12Speaker 6: plenty of other parking downtown.
- 37:13Speaker 14: Now.
- 37:14Speaker 3: Now, hold on, Tony, hold on, Now, I thought downtown
- 37:16Speaker 3: Charleston was dead. I thought, I mean, I get calls
- 37:19Speaker 3: and textabout at all the time. There's nothing in downtown Charleston.
- 37:22Speaker 6: People confuse the town center with downtown Charleston. It's two
- 37:25Speaker 6: separate things completely. But your business is good, right, phenomenal,
- 37:30Speaker 6: phenomenal people come downtown. Our traffic is big. We have
- 37:33Speaker 6: a big foot traffic because there's a lot of people downtown.
- 37:36Speaker 6: She went downtown last night, packed pat the guy here
- 37:40Speaker 6: for an a and raxing is man. There's all kinds
- 37:42Speaker 6: of people downtown last night, right all right, all.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Right, so the brax trunk and I will tell you
- 37:49Speaker 3: I'm a satisfied customer of the braxpans. You sold me
- 37:51Speaker 3: on those, and they're they're absolutely there there fans today
- 37:54Speaker 3: later as advertised.
- 37:55Speaker 6: And you want no tarrace made in Europe?
- 37:58Speaker 3: All right, Tony, I don't know if I'm gonna be
- 38:00Speaker 3: able to get down there today or not, because they
- 38:02Speaker 3: have me working you know, like two jobs here now.
- 38:04Speaker 6: Actually, well, I'm gonna send with Amanda a couple sandwiches somehow.
- 38:07Speaker 6: I'll get him there if your cohort can't give here,
- 38:10Speaker 6: but I'll even maybe bring him up personally.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Well, now, Ryan Nicholson is producing the show this afternoon,
- 38:17Speaker 3: he tells me. And so I don't know that Amanda
- 38:20Speaker 3: Baron is a is a big I just don't see
- 38:24Speaker 3: a man of chound down on. I don't see a
- 38:25Speaker 3: man of choundown on a sausage sandwich. I'll say that. However,
- 38:28Speaker 3: Ryan Nicholson, who knows a little something about the restaurant business,
- 38:32Speaker 3: our producer here. I think he and I would would
- 38:35Speaker 3: would thoroughly enjoy if you would do that.
- 38:39Speaker 6: You sent somebody now, if you can spend, send miss
- 38:41Speaker 6: spride Down. She likes my sausage and she's and we'll
- 38:46Speaker 6: put her as a delivery girl.
- 38:48Speaker 3: All right, buddy, I appreciate you. We'll talk again soon,
- 38:51Speaker 3: and take care of me because I spend a lot
- 38:53Speaker 3: of money. Actually, my wife spends a lot of money
- 38:54Speaker 3: down there.
- 38:55Speaker 6: Your wife spends a lot of money here.
- 38:58Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
- 38:58Speaker 9: Bad things.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Thank you, Da Tony. I need to do a follow
- 39:03Speaker 3: up from yesterday's show. We told you about the folks
- 39:06Speaker 3: from Liberty Row out on Bridge Road having this contest
- 39:09Speaker 3: where they're asking you their customers to help them come
- 39:11Speaker 3: up with a name for what would be their ninth child.
- 39:15Speaker 3: That's right nine. And you can go to their website
- 39:18Speaker 3: because somebody had texted after we had Bobby Spry on
- 39:20Speaker 3: the show talking about it yesterday and somebody texted, and
- 39:24Speaker 3: I wanted to know about the website. It didn't have
- 39:25Speaker 3: it in front of me at the time. I do now,
- 39:26Speaker 3: So if you want to get in on this, their
- 39:29Speaker 3: website is real. Just go to their their website to
- 39:33Speaker 3: submit your ideas. And I just lost the website. How
- 39:38Speaker 3: cool is that? I thought I put it in my
- 39:40Speaker 3: notes and I didn't hold on one second, and I
- 39:42Speaker 3: will get the website for you. But what they're doing,
- 39:46Speaker 3: All of their kids except for one, are named after
- 39:48Speaker 3: the last names of the US presidents. They have kids
- 39:50Speaker 3: named Reagan, Lincoln, Jefferson, Ford, Hayes, Eisenhower, and Monroe. And
- 39:55Speaker 3: they do have a random Andrew thrown in there. Your
- 39:58Speaker 3: nominations here it is nominations. You can submit those to
- 40:02Speaker 3: a liberty It's shop liberty Rowrooe dot com, shoplibertyow dot com.
- 40:10Speaker 3: That's what you need to do if you want to
- 40:12Speaker 3: get in on that contest. All right, But Dave Allen
- 40:15Speaker 3: showing five to eighty Live is brought to you part
- 40:17Speaker 3: by Morgan to Morgan with more than twenty billion dollars recovered.
- 40:20Speaker 3: They believe that when you're injured, you deserve more. Morgan
- 40:22Speaker 3: and Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. I also wanted
- 40:26Speaker 3: to mention this about an event that's going on in
- 40:27Speaker 3: Charleston this evening, and this is over on the West
- 40:30Speaker 3: Side in celebration of National Bicycle Month, which kicks off
- 40:33Speaker 3: today with a month of May. The West Side Neighborhood
- 40:38Speaker 3: Association working with the Charleston Police Department, holding a neighbor
- 40:42Speaker 3: social tonight between six and seven thirty at Element Edge
- 40:45Speaker 3: which is at sixteen eleven Fourth Avenue in Charleston. They're
- 40:48Speaker 3: doing bike raffles for school age kids up to middle school.
- 40:51Speaker 3: There's a bike rodeo or if you prefer rodeo sponsored
- 40:56Speaker 3: by the Charleston Police Department, all sorts of giveaways. Now
- 40:58Speaker 3: here's the kicker. In order for kids to take part
- 41:01Speaker 3: in the bike raffle, they have to have a GPA
- 41:04Speaker 3: of three point five or higher and fewer than ten
- 41:08Speaker 3: absences from school and the kids also must be residents
- 41:14Speaker 3: of the West Side. I for one, when I read
- 41:17Speaker 3: about this, think this is an awesome idea, especially with
- 41:20Speaker 3: the grade requirement and the non absence requirements. I think,
- 41:24Speaker 3: in my opinion, we need more things like that. If
- 41:28Speaker 3: you need more information, you can check out their Facebook

- 41:49Speaker 3: but it goes to sleep relatively early for a city. Well,
- 41:53Speaker 3: I you know, I can't can't comment on that one
- 41:56Speaker 3: one way or the other because I'm the Gavits in
- 41:58Speaker 3: bed by like nine or nine thirty every night. But
- 42:00Speaker 3: I'm also not, you know, so not as young as
- 42:03Speaker 3: I never was. Tex says, I find it amusing and
- 42:06Speaker 3: enraging that those who have complained about the wasteful, fraudulent
- 42:09Speaker 3: and abuse of spending of taxpayer dollars and how we
- 42:12Speaker 3: must get dark money out of government are the exact
- 42:15Speaker 3: same people that are now griping about Doge digging in

- 47:08Speaker 3: story this morning wv Metronews dot com and a story
- 47:11Speaker 3: we broke on the show yesterday. The Capital Sports Center
- 47:15Speaker 3: appears to be on hole. Not it ain't dead, it
- 47:18Speaker 3: ain't dying, but it's in a holding pattern right now.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Kat Skelton wrote about it this morning Lead story at
- 47:25Speaker 3: wv metronews dot com.
- 47:26Speaker 8: Now.
- 47:27Speaker 3: On the show yesterday, Knawa County Commissioned President Ben Selango
- 47:30Speaker 3: says there's around a seven million dollar budget gap and
- 47:36Speaker 3: it's and I appreciate Ben being on the show yesterday
- 47:39Speaker 3: and kind of breaking it down for us. And again,
- 47:40Speaker 3: if you want to read how the budget gap happened,
- 47:43Speaker 3: go to Cat Skelton story WV metro News dot com.
- 47:46Speaker 3: She does a great job of explaining what Ben Zelango
- 47:49Speaker 3: was explaining on the show yesterday. Basically, you know, it's
- 47:53Speaker 3: it's a work in progress and they were counting on
- 47:56Speaker 3: some money out of the federal budget that that simply
- 48:01Speaker 3: did not happen. I will say that Senator Shelley Moore Capito,
- 48:05Speaker 3: as Ben Selango said on the show yesterday, Senator Shelley
- 48:08Speaker 3: Moore Capito has been a major proponent of the Capitol
- 48:13Speaker 3: Sports Center, and she appears to be disappointed about it,
- 48:18Speaker 3: if you recall, and in Cat's story, she's got a
- 48:21Speaker 3: picture posted from the day that did the press conference there.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Then Senator Joe Manchin was on hand as also a
- 48:26Speaker 3: big proponent as well, not saying, you know, the thing
- 48:28Speaker 3: is not going to get done. It it's just on
- 48:30Speaker 3: hold until they figure out how to close this gap.
- 48:34Speaker 3: This budget gap. It's about a seven million dollar budget
- 48:37Speaker 3: gap according to Commissioned President to Solango. So basically, if
- 48:42Speaker 3: you got about seven million dollars, they can give you
- 48:44Speaker 3: a state of the art sports center, and look, a
- 48:47Speaker 3: lot of the money has already been allocated. So it's
- 48:49Speaker 3: not like that, you know that it's I guess it's
- 48:53Speaker 3: not like it's dead. It's just this was one part
- 48:55Speaker 3: of it, but it was a pretty pretty dang big
- 48:57Speaker 3: part of it. It's seven seven million dollars. I have
- 49:01Speaker 3: been on day one a major proponent of the Sports
- 49:06Speaker 3: Center because I know what it's going to bring to
- 49:10Speaker 3: downtown Charleston and the surrounding areas. And I keep a
- 49:13Speaker 3: close eye on my wallet and your wallet and taxpayers wallet,
- 49:17Speaker 3: just as anybody else does. But as a friend of
- 49:21Speaker 3: mine and I were talking the other day, and he's
- 49:22Speaker 3: as conservative as they come. He said, look, things like
- 49:24Speaker 3: this are investments in the community. This is going to
- 49:27Speaker 3: bring people. And go back to my interview that I
- 49:30Speaker 3: did with the Hurricane mayor Scott Edwards. I had him
- 49:33Speaker 3: on the show earlier to talk about their Main Street
- 49:35Speaker 3: Spring Festival that they're doing in Hurricane on Saturday, and
- 49:38Speaker 3: he talked about what's going on at Valley Park this weekend.
- 49:42Speaker 3: A major, major sports tournament is going on with thirty
- 49:46Speaker 3: two teams coming into Valley Park from all over the nation.
- 49:53Speaker 3: So you got thirty two teams there and again parents
- 49:55Speaker 3: and grandparents. You know the way these tournaments work. People
- 50:00Speaker 3: kid could play a game at nine am and then
- 50:01Speaker 3: doesn't play again until seven o'clock that night. What are
- 50:04Speaker 3: you gonna do? Are you gonna sit there and eat
- 50:05Speaker 3: popcorn in the stands. No, you're gonna go and you're
- 50:08Speaker 3: gonna go to a restaurant. You're going to go see
- 50:10Speaker 3: what people have to offer around town, in the town
- 50:12Speaker 3: that you're not in that often, and that this is
- 50:16Speaker 3: why we need things like this, and we it would
- 50:18Speaker 3: be a major, major thing to have this in downtown Charleston,
- 50:22Speaker 3: and I'm confident that they're gonna been able to get
- 50:25Speaker 3: it done. It may be a little smaller, and you know,
- 50:28Speaker 3: we had a texture of the show yesterday that said
- 50:30Speaker 3: why not have this somewhere else? And they mentioned Coonskin
- 50:33Speaker 3: or whatever. I mean, great facility, but it's not going
- 50:37Speaker 3: to bring the people to downtown Charleston that this thing
- 50:41Speaker 3: was designed to do. And again, all these events at
- 50:43Speaker 3: any given weekend at the Connal Seeman Convention Center, you
- 50:47Speaker 3: got three to four different activities going on. They don't
- 50:49Speaker 3: all make the news because they're not all you know,
- 50:51Speaker 3: the Morgan walland concerts. I mean, there's a lot of
- 50:53Speaker 3: other things going on that the parents know about and
- 50:56Speaker 3: the grandparents know about that maybe it just doesn't get
- 50:58Speaker 3: a lot of publicity, which is understandable. Well, he had
- 51:00Speaker 3: stuff going on all the time and this Capital Sports Center.
- 51:05Speaker 3: You know, I'm very much in prayer, as we would
- 51:09Speaker 3: say growing up, because I really want to hopefully get
- 51:12Speaker 3: this thing done. Tex says, I saw a tweet or
- 51:14Speaker 3: whatever from Trump saying that the current stock market is
- 51:18Speaker 3: the Biden market. That differs from him saying in January
- 51:21Speaker 3: twenty twenty four when the market was up that it's
- 51:24Speaker 3: his stock market at it differs from November when he
- 51:27Speaker 3: also claimed the stock market was his when it was up.
- 51:31Speaker 3: And Maga's wonder why people think Trump is stupid. Well,
- 51:35Speaker 3: I will say this. I think sometimes our president plays
- 51:41Speaker 3: a little loose with the facts sometimes, and he does
- 51:45Speaker 3: change his mind a lot, and you've got to be
- 51:47Speaker 3: consistent on those sorts of things. We got to TJ.
- 51:52Speaker 3: Oh by the way, I had a couple of text here.
- 51:54Speaker 6: I didn't read.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Uh, hold on, I'm I had a text trying to
- 51:59Speaker 3: find it now. Oh it's a boy, j b Acres.
- 52:00Speaker 3: JB does a great job and was an awesome chair
- 52:03Speaker 3: as a texture, all right. TJ Meadows sweating a little
- 52:08Speaker 3: bit coming in here at the last minute. Keep it
- 52:10Speaker 3: so hot in here. I didn't touch the temperature at all.
- 52:13Speaker 3: I didn't touch it left alone. I know you were
- 52:16Speaker 3: busy doing an interview, I think right.
- 52:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:18Speaker 8: We recorded one with Shelley. She's up first at ten
- 52:20Speaker 8: oh six. So we'll hear from our state senator. One
- 52:23Speaker 8: of them are US Senator Shelley Capita coming up at
- 52:25Speaker 8: ten thirty. Hoppy Kerchieval eleven O six. The governor trains
- 52:29Speaker 8: us he's having a press today. We'll talk about what
- 52:31Speaker 8: bills he signed, what he did, and what did he
- 52:32Speaker 8: let me come along without something.
- 52:33Speaker 3: You gotta stick around a little bit longer because Tony
- 52:35Speaker 3: the Table is delivering sausage sandwiches today. Really just so
- 52:38Speaker 3: you know, gotta go see you tomorrow too, and then
- 52:40Speaker 3: have fun. I love somebody.
- 52:54Speaker 2: You see Hsamte six point five back then Tredleston one
- 52:56Speaker 2: oh four point five Cross Lanes, WVRC Media Station. We
- 53:01Speaker 2: are proud to live here too,
