  [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to talk about Dane Brewglars first mock draft, which was a first round mock draft, but for all the teams that did not have a first round picking, including your Jacksonville Jaguars,

  [SPEAKER_00]: So 56 overall, Jacksonville Jaguars, Dylan, Theonamin, Safety, Oregon, the Jaguars, Wright's Dan Brugler.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And Theonamin could be an option because of his

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, Dame Brugler gives the Jaguars a safety with their first pick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The NFL draft Stock Exchange earlier this week did a three-round mock draft for the Jaguars, gave the Jaguars a safety with their second pick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: McNeil Warren out of Toledo.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, man, it's like these folks around the draft community, they're calling safety for the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's interesting to me.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Very interesting.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to talk about safety, then we're going to talk about dealing with the endoman, safety with the Jaguars in general, like how does that fit?

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then we're going to talk about, make Neil Warn a little bit more too, because now you've got two safeties to compare for the Jaguars on day two of this draft.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So the Jaguars and the safety position honestly, super interesting.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Eric Murray is under contract.

  [SPEAKER_00]: through the 2027 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, I believe the Jaguar has have a team out following 2026, let's confirm that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He signed a three-year deal prior to 2025.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, after the 2026 season, the Jaguars can save $6.5 million in cap space with only a $1.6 million dead cap hit by moving on from Eric Murray.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So Eric Murray certainly in the short-term plans in 2026 for the Jaguars as he should be.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's a veteran in the room and he's a solid player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Antonio Johnson, Caleb Ransal, Rayon Lane, Andrew Wenger to set to be a free agent.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So it remains to be seen what they're going to do with that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Antonio Johnson burst onto the scene, he was PFF's highest rated safety this year, and I'm not all about PFF grades, but being the highest rated at a specific position definitely does mean something, and then more so turn on the film, and he reduced the amount of mistakes he was making mentally, he started turning up his playmaking, he started turning up his consistency, and he's always had the skill to be a very good safety in this league, and he did a lot of, you know, he, he, he,

  [SPEAKER_00]: thrived in a multitude of roles for the Jaguar's defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He could play in the box.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He could play like big nickel.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He could play center field at times.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He did play.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then he also could play, you know, in the two high show.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So Antonio Johnson had a hell of a year for himself.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Ransal, he hasn't seen regular season field yet.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Ransal got injured in training camp.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They wanted to make sure they were getting Caleb Branson and why at myelom so they traded back up into the third round and they got both of them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so Caleb Branson as a guy they really like, he's a guy I really like, his tape a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He played outside corner in college, I believe he started out Troy then went to Tulane and

  [SPEAKER_00]: He played nickel in college and he played that like a banshee and then during the senior bull He got to play safety and he played that extremely well and so he was going to be a I think the Jaguar is wondering it would be a starting safety because he doesn't miss tackles He's got all the athleticism in the world You could ask where he plays the game the right way studies the right way

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then you also have Rayon Lane with the Jaguar's draft from the six round primarily to be a special teamer But he also showed he has value on the field as a safety as well This year when he had to be pressed into playing time due to injuries So you look at all that I mean That's three young guys right there at the safety position plus Eric Murray

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I think if you're just thinking big picture long-term, teams are not necessarily just making a draft pick for this year, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, a lot of times they're not making the pick for this year in terms of getting a starter, but they want depth for the season and then development for the season with that player to eventually become an impact player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You know, James Latson talked about that, yes, Wednesday, a lot of people remember the Rams picks recently, Jared verse, Kobe Turner, Braden Fisk, as these guys who came into made instant impacts, but a lot of their good draft picks they've had were not instant impact players, they were developmental players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's something to keep in mind.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, what is the path to

  [SPEAKER_00]: Dylan Thineman, the pick by Dame Brugler, getting on to the field eventually.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Well, could he beat out Caleb Ransal?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then you just have three to four really good young safeties, so I don't think that that's a horrible thing, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that that's something you can't live with.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But you also have to ask yourself, is that the best utilization of that draft pick, 56 overall, when you do have Antonio Johnson a young player, Caleb Ransal a young player,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Rayal Lane, a young player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Do you want Dylan Theoneman to come in and potentially make Caleb Ransaw's path to a starting role?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, one thing about Antonio Johnson, he will be entering his fourth year in the NFL in 2026.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He could also be gone after the 2026 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If the Jaguars do not make it a priority to bring him back, so there is a path technically.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There is a path, a clear path to 2027, Caleb Ransal and Dylan Thaneman being your starters.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Can they fit together as a starting duo?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they can.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And your current defense, which who knows how long that will be, or defensive scheme, we just don't know what will happen with Anthony Campinele, potentially becoming a head coach.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But in your current defense, I definitely think they can fit together.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, Dylan Thaneman, the player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now that we've established kind of the path to this making any sense, and it just probably wouldn't make sense in terms of getting your first overall selection of the 2020 6 NFL draft on the field in 2026.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's probably not happening if you're taking a safety this early.

  [SPEAKER_00]: point blank period end of story.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they get on the field in a role, but you're not taking Antonio Johnson off the field fully.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You're not taking Eric Murray off the field fully, and you're not taking Caleb Branson completely eliminating him from the plan either.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So again, that there would be a huge

  [SPEAKER_00]: amount of rotation at safety.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think if you added a safety this early in 2026.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But there is a path for this player to be a 2027 starter.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, Dylan Deaneman, started his career Purdue.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a big fan of his game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't love the idea of taking a safety this early.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I talked about that with McNeil Warren who is a playmaker as well out of Toledo.

  [SPEAKER_00]: but I really do like this guy's game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, his first year starting at Purdue in 2023 he had 600 receptions.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He can get his hands on the football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's got good instincts, and safety is such an instinctual position.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It really is to where if you've got good instincts for coverage and for where the ball is flowing and all that sort of stuff, how often is they're trying to attack you, that's a wonderful trait to have.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You look at his size and athletic ability, his six feet to 05, he has really good length that size, he has great range.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He has a explosive athlete, no question about that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So he can play center field and play sideline to sideline.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He can come down into the box and play with physicality.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He is a very good tackler and run defender from the safety spot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's versatile.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Very versatile.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It can get his hands on the football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: His interception to win the game and double over time.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Against Penn State this year, it was not a very smart throw, but it was an incredible athletic play to go up and get it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's a guy, I'm just, I think he's a balanced safety, I think he's a really good athlete.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he brings a lot of the things you could look for in a future starting safety and somebody who has the potential to be an upper echelon safety.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like that's the type of talent I see from this guy, I really do.

  [SPEAKER_00]: One kind of bugger blue I have, sometimes I think he plays a little bit too fast, too sped up.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And if he just slowed down, calm down, because he does have such great explosiveness and athleticism and length, like he doesn't need to rush to the ball, because then sometimes he overpourses, and then he can't recover.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's the one little issue I have with his game right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Other than that, I think he has really good eyes and coverage, I think he has the versatility, the athleticism, all those things to be a really good player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I just really don't know if safety is the position that makes the most sense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And beyond just saying, look, this safety at 56 makes sense because you have Antonio Johnson, Caleb Ransal, Eric Murray, round lane.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You can also say, does it make sense in the idea that is there players later in the draft

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not sure.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't studied all the safeties in the draft.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I have liked what I've seen so far.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean Caleb downs at the top, but make Neil Warren over at Toledo.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You've probably just got the cinnamon here.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Alabama has a really good safety as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's some guys to get to sink our teeth into at the safety spot.
