- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's go ahead and get into it. We're going to
- 0:02Speaker 1: bring in Jamie Bradford from inside the Gamecocks.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey, Jamie, how are you doing?
- 0:08Speaker 3: I'm good.
- 0:09Speaker 4: You obviously did not need a ratings bump this week
- 0:11Speaker 4: or else you wouldn't be having me on.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Jamie and I did a little bit of a home
- 0:15Speaker 1: and home today. I was on his show this morning.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Now he's coming on over here tonight. I want to
- 0:21Speaker 1: talk to you a little bit about this. We did
- 0:23Speaker 1: talk some this morning, but what is happening in Columbia?
- 0:26Speaker 1: South Carolina, two and three, winless in conference play. but
- 0:30Speaker 1: so close in each of those games, what has gone
- 0:33Speaker 1: wrong and how much pressure is Shane Beamer under?
- 0:36Speaker 4: Well, he's under a lot of pressure and what's gone
- 0:39Speaker 4: wrong in Columbia is the things that used to go right,
- 0:43Speaker 4: somehow turn around and go in the opposite direction. And
- 0:46Speaker 4: then the things that they needed to fix, they did
- 0:49Speaker 4: fix a lot of those problems.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I mean, the run game's really good.
- 0:51Speaker 4: The offensive line is significantly better. Um, and you know, everybody,
- 0:56Speaker 4: they didn't have a kicker when the season started. Now
- 0:58Speaker 4: all of a sudden Malik Orson seven for eight and
- 1:00Speaker 4: he's hit a couple of 50 yarders, but they, but
- 1:03Speaker 4: they can't stop anybody defensively. And they've, they've, they've found
- 1:07Speaker 4: a way to kind of play Mac whack-a-mole with, with
- 1:09Speaker 4: the problems and you know, it, where you want to
- 1:12Speaker 4: solve them is not on the road in the swamp.
- 1:14Speaker 3: That's for sure.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Uh, but, um, you know, what you're hoping is that
- 1:19Speaker 4: you are able to at least reduce if you really
- 1:23Speaker 4: kind of go deeper into it Allie I mean you
- 1:26Speaker 4: there's a lot of terrible highlights out there on this
- 1:28Speaker 4: football team and I'm not going to sit here and
- 1:29Speaker 4: try to cover it up like they're a lot better
- 1:31Speaker 4: than they've shown or anything like that I'm not saying
- 1:34Speaker 4: that but what I will say is you take one
- 1:37Speaker 4: busted play away from Mississippi State and one busted play
- 1:40Speaker 4: away from Kentucky and the Gators and the Gamecocks have
- 1:43Speaker 4: the exact same record in this game and it's a
- 1:45Speaker 4: top 25 matchup down at Steve Spurrier Field but You
- 1:50Speaker 4: can't do that.
- 1:50Speaker 3: They did what.
- 1:51Speaker 4: They did, and they've been coughing it up, and so
- 1:54Speaker 4: that's kind of where they are.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Let's talk a.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Little bit about last week's Kentucky game. You guys were
- 1:59Speaker 1: up 17-0, and then you end up losing 35-34 in overtime.
- 2:03Speaker 2: That's an emotional loss.
- 2:05Speaker 1: How do you recover from something like that?
- 2:08Speaker 4: Well, you know, I think that that's just a trend,
- 2:11Speaker 4: first of all. It's been going on a while. I mean,
- 2:13Speaker 4: you go back to last year.
- 2:15Speaker 3: They were leading.
- 2:16Speaker 4: at halftime against Missouri on the road in Columbia, they
- 2:19Speaker 4: blew that game. They were leading Alabama with just over
- 2:22Speaker 4: two minutes to go in Columbia by a touchdown, and
- 2:26Speaker 4: they blew that game. And they went to College Station.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Do I have to remind anybody what happened in College
- 2:32Speaker 4: Station last year? They're up 27 points at halftime, and
- 2:35Speaker 4: they found a way to blow that game in the
- 2:37Speaker 4: second half. And, you know, so it's really become a
- 2:39Speaker 4: program that, that is finding ways to lose.
- 2:43Speaker 3: And really, it feels like when we were all athletes, Al,
- 2:45Speaker 3: you were an athlete. We were all.
- 2:47Speaker 4: Athletes, and we were all athletes at least a decently
- 2:50Speaker 4: high level. You know, there are some teams that kind
- 2:54Speaker 4: of get into this mode of, all right, what do
- 2:57Speaker 4: we need to do to not lose the game? And
- 2:59Speaker 4: then there are programs that have guys who say, all right,
- 3:03Speaker 4: we're going to go put a nail in this coffin, right?
- 3:05Speaker 4: And South Carolina hasn't been able to do that. So
- 3:08Speaker 4: I mentioned what happened last year. The same thing has
- 3:11Speaker 4: just happened this year. I mean, they were up on
- 3:13Speaker 4: Mississippi state 16 to nothing. And then the Bulldogs go
- 3:16Speaker 4: on a 41 to seven run. You know, they go
- 3:18Speaker 4: to Alabama, Alabama opens the game on a 35 to
- 3:22Speaker 4: three run. They're up 17 to nothing against Kentucky. And
- 3:25Speaker 4: then Kentucky goes on to a 24 to three run.
- 3:27Speaker 4: So it's not only are they blowing feeds, but you know,
- 3:30Speaker 4: when their nose stops bleeding, they don't have anybody to
- 3:32Speaker 4: stop the bleeding. I mean, they don't know they're getting
- 3:34Speaker 4: punched in the mouth and they don't know what to do. So,
- 3:37Speaker 4: you know, I, I don't, I don't think that they
- 3:39Speaker 4: have an answer. I, you know, Shane Beamer has been
- 3:42Speaker 4: asked and he's like, you know, he's got to keep working. I,
- 3:45Speaker 4: if I'm, if I'm coach Beamer, there's, I would say this,
- 3:49Speaker 4: I would say that there's a lot of 50, 50
- 3:52Speaker 4: decisions that have not gone his way. And a lot
- 3:55Speaker 4: of these are new school things like fourth and three,
- 3:58Speaker 4: the analytics say, go, if I'm Shane pun it, you
- 4:02Speaker 4: know what I mean?
- 4:02Speaker 3: Like, yeah, it depends on what's going on.
- 4:04Speaker 4: If you're tied in the fourth quarter or something and
- 4:06Speaker 4: you got to win the game, you don't have any choice.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I get that.
- 4:08Speaker 4: But, When you're kind of in a 50-50 scenario, like
- 4:11Speaker 4: we're on the 47-yard line here, analytics say go.
- 4:15Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Go ahead and make them work to get the football
- 4:18Speaker 4: down the field 95 yards to score. Things like that
- 4:21Speaker 4: that can maybe just try to keep the momentum on
- 4:24Speaker 4: your side instead of having it blow up in your face.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I think the momentum, that's something that both– Florida couldn't
- 4:30Speaker 1: keep it. Couldn't really get it to begin with at
- 4:31Speaker 1: all last week. And that is something South Carolina struggled with.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I want to talk to you a little bit about
- 4:36Speaker 1: Lenora sellers. I think that he is one of the
- 4:38Speaker 1: most physically gifted quarterbacks in the conference. And I think
- 4:42Speaker 1: that sometimes he's your best player. Sometimes he's your worst player.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Has he lived up to expectations and what do you
- 4:48Speaker 1: think is preventing him from taking that next step? And
- 4:52Speaker 1: is that next step consistency? I, well, the next.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Step would be consistency. You're right about that. Um, I
- 4:59Speaker 3: don't know.
- 4:59Speaker 4: A lot of people believe that he has regressed since 2024.
- 5:02Speaker 4: I think he just never progressed.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:07Speaker 4: You know, if you go back when he shot onto
- 5:09Speaker 4: the scene, Dowell Loggins, the offensive coordinator at the time,
- 5:12Speaker 4: who's up at App State, really laid out a game
- 5:15Speaker 4: plan for him, not just a game plan, like a
- 5:19Speaker 4: personal game plan.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Sure.
- 5:21Speaker 4: That allowed him to consistently operate week in and week
- 5:26Speaker 4: out and understanding the what he was going to bring
- 5:28Speaker 4: his football team in each ballgame. And if you go
- 5:32Speaker 4: back and you look, and stats don't always tell the story,
- 5:34Speaker 4: I know that, but if you go back and actually
- 5:35Speaker 4: look at the game logs and look at his opportunities, look.
- 5:39Speaker 3: How much he ran the football, look how much he
- 5:41Speaker 3: threw the football.
- 5:42Speaker 4: And then, of course, I was at all those games or,
- 5:45Speaker 4: you know, dissecting them. And you go back and look
- 5:48Speaker 4: at how all of them unfolded, and there was that
- 5:51Speaker 4: six-game winning streak in there in 2024, and he's making
- 5:53Speaker 4: all this magic happen. what happened was they put him
- 5:55Speaker 4: in a bunch of situations where he was able to
- 5:57Speaker 4: get comfortable and he was able to.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Attack, attack, attack, attack.
- 6:01Speaker 4: And as you pointed out and you're right, you know,
- 6:04Speaker 4: from a, from a physicality standpoint, he might be the
- 6:07Speaker 4: most physically gifted. And when he is in attack mode,
- 6:12Speaker 4: it is near impossible to slow him down. I mean, he, he's,
- 6:14Speaker 4: he has really got that gear and, and it starts
- 6:18Speaker 4: with his legs last year. There's a lot of blame
- 6:22Speaker 4: on Mike Shula. Mike Shula certainly should shoulder a.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Lot of the blame.
- 6:27Speaker 4: There's a lot of blame on Ramon Robinson, his quarterback's coach.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Maybe he's involved in this too. There's a lot of
- 6:33Speaker 4: blame to go on, you know, to Lenore Sellers, to
- 6:36Speaker 4: Shane Beamer. There's a lot of people I'd say probably
- 6:38Speaker 4: spread it out a little bit, but he was doing
- 6:40Speaker 4: a lot of things, Allie, that We weren't used to
- 6:44Speaker 4: seeing that from him.
- 6:45Speaker 3: He wasn't attacking.
- 6:46Speaker 4: He was more kind of trying to finesse his way
- 6:50Speaker 4: into being what a quarterback is quote-unquote supposed to be,
- 6:53Speaker 4: and that's just not him. So Kendall Bryles comes in
- 6:57Speaker 4: and runs a perfect system for Lenoris. He comes out
- 7:01Speaker 4: of the gates and plays pretty well, but one of
- 7:03Speaker 4: the things that stood out the first few weeks was
- 7:06Speaker 4: while he– you know, he's hot this series, he's cold,
- 7:09Speaker 4: that series, whatever people can live with the hot and cold.
- 7:12Speaker 4: As long as they know that he is in attack mode.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Like they're willing to say, Hey, look, man, he airmailed
- 7:18Speaker 4: that one.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Potentially.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 3: We got it.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Cause we know we'll get it somewhere else.
- 7:22Speaker 3: We'll get it back. And, and it's like, he was
- 7:25Speaker 3: like hesitant.
- 7:26Speaker 4: Like you hear people talk about how he would slide,
- 7:28Speaker 4: you know, our attempt to slide or go down, uh,
- 7:32Speaker 4: right before the first down marker or he'd run out
- 7:34Speaker 4: of bounds last week.
- 7:37Speaker 3: The egg cracked a little bit.
- 7:38Speaker 4: And there were some things that he did that reminded
- 7:42Speaker 4: a lot of people of what we saw in 2024.
- 7:45Speaker 3: So the key to him, you mentioned the word consistency.
- 7:47Speaker 3: I think that's a great word here.
- 7:49Speaker 4: If he can find a way to build on that
- 7:52Speaker 4: just a little bit, doesn't have to show up in
- 7:54Speaker 4: the stat line necessarily.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Sure.
- 7:56Speaker 4: How he plays to make the defense respect that, that
- 8:00Speaker 4: can help South Carolina a lot.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Talk to me.
- 8:02Speaker 1: About your offensive line. How is the protection up front?
- 8:06Speaker 1: where might Florida's defensive line find some opportunities?
- 8:10Speaker 2: Or is that not a concern of yours? We're going to.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Take a quick break from this video to give some
- 8:15Speaker 1: love to PrizePix. Guys, I'm going to show you how
- 8:18Speaker 1: easy it is to set a lineup. Don't forget to
- 8:20Speaker 1: download their app. And if you are a new user,
- 8:22Speaker 1: you can play a $ 5 lineup and use our code.
- 8:24Speaker 2: It's on the screen below, HMA. And if you win,
- 8:27Speaker 2: you get $ 150 in lineups instantly.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Okay, so we've got Jaden Ball at 121.5 rushing yards.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I am going to say I think he has a
- 8:36Speaker 1: rebound week. I'm going to take the more on this.
- 8:40Speaker 1: And then I'm also going to take the more on
- 8:42Speaker 1: Lenora Sellers of. 5 passing touchdowns. I think that does
- 8:46Speaker 1: hit this.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Weekend as well. So all you have to do is
- 8:49Speaker 2: pair a couple of things like that. You've got a lineup.
- 8:52Speaker 1: We'll submit it. It's easy as that. We appreciate prize
- 8:55Speaker 1: picks for all their support.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Well, the offensive line was totally rebuilt in the offseason.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Matter of fact, Shed Surratt returned, and he was the
- 9:03Speaker 4: best offensive lineman that did return, and he isn't starting. Yeah,
- 9:08Speaker 4: they're starting a true freshman, and they have been since
- 9:10Speaker 4: day one. Darius Gray, he's out there at right tackle. Now,
- 9:14Speaker 4: game one, Jacarius Peek, who was the top offensive tackle
- 9:17Speaker 4: in the portal from North Carolina State, got hurt back
- 9:21Speaker 4: in February playing a game of pickup basketball on campus.
- 9:25Speaker 3: So he was out.
- 9:27Speaker 4: He was likely to be two to three weeks behind
- 9:30Speaker 4: when the season started, and that is exactly what happened.
- 9:33Speaker 3: He was able to finally get in there against Mississippi State.
- 9:36Speaker 4: But when that happened, we had enough intel to know
- 9:40Speaker 4: who was in the mix at left tackle. I personally
- 9:42Speaker 4: thought they were going to go with one of their
- 9:48Speaker 4: G5 transfers, maybe Seth Smith from Northern Arizona at the
- 9:52Speaker 4: left tackle position.
- 9:54Speaker 3: They did not.
- 9:54Speaker 4: They went with 77. Darius Gray, the true freshman out there.
- 9:59Speaker 4: to start for the first couple of games. And then
- 10:03Speaker 4: once Jacarius Peek was able to get back in there
- 10:05Speaker 4: full time, they've moved him to right tackle. So from
- 10:08Speaker 4: a tackle standpoint, this is the best South Carolina has
- 10:12Speaker 4: looked under Shane Beamer. There's no question about that. The
- 10:15Speaker 4: right guard is Kojo Poku. He's a transfer who came
- 10:19Speaker 4: in from East Carolina. I thought he was probably the
- 10:21Speaker 4: best setup to play offensive line for Coach Beamer and
- 10:25Speaker 4: this staff this year. New offensive line coach, Randy Clements,
- 10:28Speaker 4: who's part of the Bryles tree, knows this system inside
- 10:31Speaker 4: and out. That's why he's in Columbia. Kendall Bryles said,
- 10:33Speaker 4: I'm not taking that job unless I got my guy
- 10:36Speaker 4: coaching the offensive line.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Randy Clements comes over.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Poku was set up perfectly because at East Carolina, he
- 10:42Speaker 4: was in John David Baker's system, who's now at Ole Miss. Right.
- 10:46Speaker 4: That is the same tree as Kendall Bryles, Lane Kiffin.
- 10:50Speaker 4: It is a, you know, we're going to move the
- 10:51Speaker 4: football down the field, used to the pace of play
- 10:55Speaker 4: and the tempo and those things. So he's come in
- 10:57Speaker 4: and probably been the most consistent guy they've had throughout
- 11:00Speaker 4: the year.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Had a little bit of a couple of bang-ups at
- 11:03Speaker 3: the center spot.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Carter Miller, the transfer from Central Florida, got a little
- 11:06Speaker 4: bit banged up, but mostly he's been pretty good. And
- 11:08Speaker 4: then Nolan Hay there at the left guard position has
- 11:10Speaker 4: been pretty good. They've only allowed seven sacks through five games.
- 11:14Speaker 4: And this team has given up over 40 sacks in
- 11:16Speaker 4: the season for three straight years. So they've been really,
- 11:19Speaker 4: really good there. Protection's been good. And obviously they lead
- 11:22Speaker 4: the league in rushing right now. And South Carolina has
- 11:26Speaker 4: been able to at least figure that part out. Of course,
- 11:27Speaker 4: as soon as I say that, they'll turn into a
- 11:29Speaker 4: train wreck on Saturday down in the swamp.
- 11:31Speaker 3: But so far, so good up front.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Okay, let's stay on South Carolina offense just for another
- 11:38Speaker 1: question or so. Missouri put up 560 yards on the Gators.
- 11:42Speaker 1: This defense struggled last week. Do you see anything from
- 11:47Speaker 1: that game that you think South Carolina could potentially exploit?
- 11:50Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 11:51Speaker 3: There are different offenses.
- 11:53Speaker 4: You and I were talking this morning, and you brought
- 11:57Speaker 4: up an amazing point because you're good at what you do.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Eli Drinkwitz in Missouri said, the way that they stretch
- 12:04Speaker 4: it out offensively and running the football, that can be
- 12:09Speaker 4: a bad matchup for a lot of football teams, as
- 12:11Speaker 4: we know. And you're right about that. And it's been
- 12:14Speaker 4: a thorn in South Carolina's side for quite some time.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Because it wears you down.
- 12:19Speaker 4: You know, you think that they're, like Allie, you were
- 12:21Speaker 4: watching on TV. I would imagine there were probably multiple
- 12:25Speaker 4: runs where you thought the Tigers picked up three and
- 12:27Speaker 4: four yards, and then you realize it was second and three.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Yep.
- 12:30Speaker 4: You know, and you're like, man, how did this kid
- 12:34Speaker 4: get another three or four yards out of that?
- 12:37Speaker 3: South Carolina is going to be a little bit different.
- 12:39Speaker 4: They are going to throw the window dressing and the
- 12:41Speaker 4: eye candy out there and try to move some things around,
- 12:43Speaker 4: but they will hit you up the gut as well.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Matt Fuller has been really, really good. Carolina finally has
- 12:48Speaker 4: an SEC running back room, let alone just one. Matt
- 12:52Speaker 4: Fuller is a guy who can get those extra yards.
- 12:56Speaker 4: The Gamecocks will resemble the Gators a little bit in
- 12:59Speaker 4: the fact that They will go to that short game
- 13:01Speaker 4: and that quick passing game, and they will play out
- 13:03Speaker 4: there in the flat and do some things. The wide
- 13:08Speaker 4: receivers have had some issues with this, making sure that
- 13:11Speaker 4: they're blocking and doing the things that they need to
- 13:13Speaker 4: do to kind of open some of that up. But
- 13:16Speaker 4: I think for South Carolina, Lenora Sellers has long had
- 13:20Speaker 4: a strength of being able to throw the deep ball, okay?
- 13:24Speaker 4: His problem has been the intermediate routes opposite of Aaron Philo.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Aaron Philo's pretty good. When you go to the line
- 13:31Speaker 4: of scrimmage, 10, 15, 20 yards, you look at Philo,
- 13:33Speaker 4: you're like, man, that's my guy. Sellers has had some
- 13:36Speaker 4: issues with that. He'll fire him in there, and then
- 13:39Speaker 4: he'll sail one, and a lot of guys he doesn't
- 13:42Speaker 4: see either. He's had issues reading the defense, but he
- 13:46Speaker 4: can throw the deep ball now. If they're able to
- 13:49Speaker 4: be somewhat successful defensively, in the quick passing game, certainly
- 13:54Speaker 4: most importantly in the run game, and they can find
- 13:58Speaker 4: a way to get some guys deep or behind somebody
- 14:01Speaker 4: in the Gators secondary, that could be a similarity to
- 14:03Speaker 4: what you're talking about last weekend with Missouri, but they
- 14:07Speaker 4: would kind of set that up a little bit differently
- 14:09Speaker 4: than how the Tigers did.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Let's move to the other side of the ball. You know,
- 14:13Speaker 1: Jaden Baugh has been fantastic this season. I think probably
- 14:16Speaker 1: top three running backs in the country. But Missouri held
- 14:19Speaker 1: him to 13 rushing yards on 12 carries. His first
- 14:22Speaker 1: run was 12 yards, and I was like, oh, man,
- 14:25Speaker 1: we're off to the races. One yard on the subsequent
- 14:28Speaker 1: 11 rushes that he had. I mean, like nothing that
- 14:32Speaker 1: we expected. Does South Carolina have the personnel to replicate
- 14:37Speaker 1: that performance? I feel like, you know, the blueprint is
- 14:39Speaker 1: kind of out there now. Can you guys copy it?
- 14:43Speaker 3: Well, they've got the personnel.
- 14:46Speaker 4: South Carolina is good and talented, and Dylan Stewart is
- 14:49Speaker 4: trending towards playing on Saturday. He's checking all the boxes
- 14:53Speaker 4: that he needs to check, and if he gets in there,
- 14:55Speaker 4: I do believe that he'll play the most.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Is that not punching anyone or yelling at a coach? Like,
- 14:59Speaker 1: is there a specific?
- 15:02Speaker 3: Yeah, you can't do that.
- 15:05Speaker 4: You know, you got to stay away from getting into
- 15:07Speaker 4: it with your teammates and your coaches. And Shane Beamer
- 15:11Speaker 4: had every right to get in front of that and
- 15:12Speaker 4: suspend him, and he should have.
- 15:14Speaker 3: He did a good job with it.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Stewart being back, clearly, that's a big deal for South Carolina. Again,
- 15:22Speaker 4: I can't prove any of this. This is all just
- 15:24Speaker 4: a bunch of junk. But if he were playing like
- 15:26Speaker 4: he was full-time against Kentucky and against Mississippi State, I'm
- 15:30Speaker 4: probably looking at both those games as well and saying,
- 15:33Speaker 4: they probably want him. He's just that impactful. He, he
- 15:36Speaker 4: legitimately has a top five draft pick. This kid is
- 15:39Speaker 4: really good.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Is there a chance he plays pissed off and like
- 15:44Speaker 1: hair on fire because he is upset about what happened
- 15:47Speaker 1: at the previous?
- 15:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:49Speaker 4: So I've, I've got, um, I love, uh, I'll call
- 15:52Speaker 4: him a source, but he's really more of a contact.
- 15:54Speaker 4: He's pretty close to Dylan. And I loved what he
- 15:56Speaker 4: said the other day. He said, I look, I got
- 15:58Speaker 4: a feeling of Shane clears him. that he's going to
- 16:00Speaker 4: be laser focused because he knows now like what his
- 16:05Speaker 4: future looks like. If he continues in this direction, I mean,
- 16:08Speaker 4: you're talking about losing millions of dollars here in the
- 16:11Speaker 4: NFL can deal with, you know, you know, the NFL
- 16:13Speaker 4: can deal with, I mean, you've been around the NFL
- 16:15Speaker 4: for a long time, right?
- 16:16Speaker 3: All the guys, you know, think about this. There's plenty
- 16:19Speaker 3: of dudes that throw punches in games.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Okay.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Well, I'm not saying it's cool. Don't gamble, but it happens. Yeah.
- 16:27Speaker 3: You know what you don't do?
- 16:29Speaker 4: You don't not come off the field when your coach
- 16:31Speaker 4: tells you to come off the field.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Okay.
- 16:34Speaker 4: You, you, if the NFL is not dealing with that crap,
- 16:37Speaker 4: like they, they'll deal.
- 16:39Speaker 1: With it and disrespectful or different things.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Yeah. You play here. You don't coach here.
- 16:44Speaker 4: So if you're not in on this series or this play,
- 16:47Speaker 4: and we tell you to get off the field, then
- 16:48Speaker 4: you get off the field. And he knows that now,
- 16:52Speaker 4: you know, there, there was a big, and this wasn't
- 16:53Speaker 4: Dylan's first run and he's had issues in the past too. So,
- 16:56Speaker 4: you know, they had to kind of work through that.
- 16:58Speaker 4: But to your question, do they have the personnel? Yeah,
- 17:00Speaker 4: they got the personnel. I mean, Gabe Brownlow, Dendy and, um,
- 17:04Speaker 4: Tomi Duragia, the transfer from Illinois has been their best
- 17:07Speaker 4: defensive tackle by far. Um, you know, up front, those
- 17:10Speaker 4: guys are, these guys are good. Um, you know, and
- 17:14Speaker 4: in the linebackers, and I think this has been something
- 17:17Speaker 4: that's pretty mystifying as well. They returned all three of them.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Two of them were recruited to play for Nick Saban
- 17:22Speaker 4: in Alabama. I mean, last I checked, the guy signs
- 17:25Speaker 4: pretty good players of that position. And Those guys, Okoronkwo
- 17:28Speaker 4: and Murphy, have been really good here. Fred Johnson, third-year starter,
- 17:33Speaker 4: been really good here. They've got the dudes, but defensively,
- 17:39Speaker 4: from the standpoint of, I don't like saying stopping the run,
- 17:42Speaker 4: but slowing the run down, managing the run game, Carolina's
- 17:46Speaker 4: been pretty good there.
- 17:48Speaker 3: They hadn't seen Jaden Ball yet, though.
- 17:49Speaker 4: He's the best running back in the league, and I
- 17:51Speaker 4: think he's the best running back in the country, if
- 17:53Speaker 4: you ask me personally.
- 17:55Speaker 3: And so.
- 17:56Speaker 4: Um, you know, this is going to be a little
- 17:57Speaker 4: bit of a different animal for them, you know, and,
- 18:00Speaker 4: and the other thing with that too, not directly tied
- 18:03Speaker 4: to ball, like he's got some sort of ball security
- 18:05Speaker 4: issues or something, but South Carolina hasn't been able to
- 18:08Speaker 4: force any turnovers alley. They forced two this year and
- 18:11Speaker 4: they haven't forced one since the very first play of
- 18:14Speaker 4: the Mississippi state game. That is a major problem. So, um,
- 18:18Speaker 4: you know, against Florida, I think they're probably going to
- 18:20Speaker 4: get their rushing yards, uh, at least enough to be
- 18:24Speaker 4: successful and help the passing game get going. And South
- 18:27Speaker 4: Carolina is just going to have to make sure that
- 18:28Speaker 4: they limit the explosives on the ground.
- 18:30Speaker 3: And they're probably going to have to find a way
- 18:32Speaker 3: to force a turnover or two.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I feel like limiting explosives could be said about both teams.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I know I told you this morning, but Florida had
- 18:39Speaker 1: four that totaled 235 yards.
- 18:41Speaker 2: You know, you take 235.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Yards off the board and this looks like maybe a
- 18:45Speaker 1: little bit of a different game. Let's talk about this
- 18:47Speaker 1: game being in the swamp. You know, Normally, I would
- 18:50Speaker 1: ask you about the environment in terms of crowd size
- 18:54Speaker 1: and volume and all of that. But now I'm asking
- 18:56Speaker 1: you because we might have to build an arc for
- 18:59Speaker 1: this game. How hard is it going to be for
- 19:02Speaker 1: really either of these teams to kind of find their
- 19:05Speaker 1: confidence in a potential monsoon?
- 19:08Speaker 4: I don't think it'll be difficult because both of them
- 19:11Speaker 4: run the football so well. You know, I mean, you're
- 19:14Speaker 4: talking about a Florida team and a South Carolina team
- 19:18Speaker 4: that are one, two in the league and rushing yards
- 19:21Speaker 4: per game. And we've got such a, we have a great,
- 19:26Speaker 4: you know, after five games, both teams playing three league
- 19:29Speaker 4: games against good opponents. South Carolina has played in Tuscaloosa,
- 19:34Speaker 4: you know, and obviously had Mississippi state, Kentucky at home.
- 19:37Speaker 4: The Gators have had to go to Columbia, Missouri. Their
- 19:39Speaker 4: defense is pretty good. They've had to play on the
- 19:41Speaker 4: road at Auburn and they had Ole Miss in town.
- 19:43Speaker 4: We've got a pretty good judge of character here. I
- 19:46Speaker 4: think that both of these teams, it's not like they
- 19:49Speaker 4: have their struggles running the football. I think this kind
- 19:52Speaker 4: of more plays into what they do well, and they'll
- 19:54Speaker 4: just kind of hunker down with that. I just think
- 19:58Speaker 4: that it comes back to mistakes. South Carolina seemingly makes
- 20:03Speaker 4: more mistakes, so that's probably a bigger issue for them
- 20:06Speaker 4: than it is for Florida being at home Um, so,
- 20:09Speaker 4: you know, if you're, if you're in a bunch of rain,
- 20:11Speaker 4: you know, I would expect a lot of handing the
- 20:14Speaker 4: ball off.
- 20:15Speaker 3: I do, I do think that helps Lenora sellers.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Um, it's, it's going to probably take a lot out
- 20:20Speaker 4: of his, out of his hands as far as what
- 20:23Speaker 4: else he's going to do. And some of these RPOs,
- 20:25Speaker 4: like he's going to trust his legs more than having
- 20:28Speaker 4: to read a defense down there. So that could potentially
- 20:30Speaker 4: be an issue for the Gators maybe. But yeah, I
- 20:34Speaker 4: don't know that there would be too much of a change, Allie.
- 20:37Speaker 4: I think that both of them really want to run
- 20:38Speaker 4: the football and I think this will force them to.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I cannot imagine how many wet ball drills are taking
- 20:43Speaker 1: place between the two schools.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Like these kids.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Have probably never done that many wet ball drills in
- 20:48Speaker 1: one week as they will this week.
- 20:50Speaker 2: This is an interesting coaching matchup.
- 20:52Speaker 1: You know, Summerall and Beamer are facing, both of them,
- 20:54Speaker 1: important tests this week, but kind of different. You know,
- 20:57Speaker 1: Summerall Until last week, everybody thought, okay, this team is
- 21:00Speaker 1: ahead of schedule, and now it's back to, okay.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Maybe they aren't.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Will this become a trend? And Beamer kind of has
- 21:06Speaker 1: his backup against the wall. Which team do you trust
- 21:09Speaker 1: more to respond?
- 21:11Speaker 4: I would trust Florida more to respond. It goes back
- 21:15Speaker 4: to what I mentioned earlier with the Gamecocks. Look, this
- 21:17Speaker 4: team is very talented, and Certainly, I think people around
- 21:21Speaker 4: here appreciate John Summerall's, I thought, very honest comments on Monday.
- 21:25Speaker 4: I've seen South Carolina a lot. I've watched them through
- 21:28Speaker 4: the spring and the summer and the fall and then
- 21:31Speaker 4: into the games. It is a very talented football team.
- 21:34Speaker 4: There are going to be, and this is the thing
- 21:36Speaker 4: that's in the stomachs of South Carolina fans, when you
- 21:40Speaker 4: look at the 2027 NFL draft, you look at the
- 21:42Speaker 4: 2028 NFL draft, you look at the 2029 NFL draft,
- 21:46Speaker 4: there's going to be a lot of names called from
- 21:49Speaker 4: this team right here. And you're going to go, how
- 21:51Speaker 4: did that team not win more games?
- 21:54Speaker 3: Like, what happened there?
- 21:55Speaker 4: And maybe they turned it around and win a bunch more.
- 21:57Speaker 3: We'll see.
- 21:57Speaker 4: But it goes back to the fact that they have
- 22:03Speaker 4: kind of forgotten how to win games.
- 22:05Speaker 3: I mean, they haven't won one game under Shane Beamer
- 22:08Speaker 3: in the SEC. Not one. They're 0-21 when trailing at halftime.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Crazy stat there.
- 22:15Speaker 4: And now the last five games that they've played under
- 22:18Speaker 4: Shane Beamer that they have led at halftime, they've lost
- 22:21Speaker 4: those games, too, in league play. So they're finding ways
- 22:24Speaker 4: to lose, and they're finding reasons to try to not
- 22:28Speaker 4: lose instead of just saying, all right, we're going to
- 22:30Speaker 4: go put the nail in the coffin. Let's go win
- 22:32Speaker 4: the thing here. And, you know, that's not Florida's issue.
- 22:35Speaker 4: I mean, last week, I looked at last week like
- 22:37Speaker 4: you did. Florida's got their problems, and they're not a
- 22:41Speaker 4: perfect football team by any stretch of the imagination. But
- 22:44Speaker 4: they are good, and Florida's always talented, and they are
- 22:46Speaker 4: pretty well coached. So you get your brains beat in
- 22:50Speaker 4: on the road. What have you really lost right now?
- 22:53Speaker 3: Nothing. You've lost nothing.
- 22:56Speaker 4: The playoffs, anything that was on their radar before that
- 23:00Speaker 4: game is still on the radar. Nothing is off the table.
- 23:03Speaker 4: So I think that they'll– I don't think that they
- 23:06Speaker 4: feel pressure. I think for South Carolina, I'll be curious–
- 23:10Speaker 4: the players love coach. They love coach Beamer and they're
- 23:13Speaker 4: ready to play for him. They're fired up. They're tired
- 23:15Speaker 4: of what people are saying. They're tired of, of, of
- 23:18Speaker 4: losing games. It's on their shoulders. They're putting it on
- 23:21Speaker 4: their shoulders. There's a level of ownership that they have
- 23:23Speaker 4: said publicly. There's a level of ownership that they've said
- 23:26Speaker 4: privately and things that I won't, because they don't need to,
- 23:28Speaker 4: they need to stay in the locker room. Um, but
- 23:31Speaker 4: how do you translate that to what happens when you're
- 23:35Speaker 4: in the moment in the game, And you've got a
- 23:38Speaker 4: chance to go make something happen that can help you
- 23:40Speaker 4: win the game.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Don't know. Don't know yet.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's, you know, us against the world mentality can
- 23:47Speaker 1: definitely be dangerous for the other team. Is there a
- 23:49Speaker 1: matchup that you think South Carolina really has a big
- 23:53Speaker 1: advantage over Florida? Or maybe not even a big advantage,
- 23:55Speaker 1: but an advantage over Florida?
- 23:57Speaker 4: Well, so this is going to sound a little strange.
- 24:02Speaker 4: South Carolina's receivers have been an issue from the standpoint
- 24:06Speaker 4: of catching the football.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Okay. I don't know. I mean, I can catch the football.
- 24:15Speaker 4: You know, like when Steven Garcia's in town, we go
- 24:19Speaker 4: out and he throws missiles at me, and I find
- 24:20Speaker 4: a way to catch it every time. I can't figure
- 24:21Speaker 4: out how these kids can't catch it. But they've had
- 24:25Speaker 4: their issues catching the football. But that doesn't mean that
- 24:29Speaker 4: South Carolina still can't beat you deep. Kentucky's had their
- 24:34Speaker 4: issues in covering guys this season, too. Alabama had some
- 24:39Speaker 4: issues against Florida State. TJ, TJ, where are you at?
- 24:44Speaker 4: You know, they had some issues covering, you know, Florida
- 24:47Speaker 4: State was beating them deep for a little bit, things
- 24:49Speaker 4: like that. But both those teams were able to go
- 24:52Speaker 4: back and kind of clean it up. South Carolina obviously
- 24:54Speaker 4: can't cover a bucket of water right now in the secondary.
- 24:56Speaker 4: So Florida, I'm sure at some point in time, is
- 24:58Speaker 4: going to take some shots. And as it stands today,
- 25:01Speaker 4: they're going to hit them. Carolina can hit those shots, too. And,
- 25:05Speaker 4: you know, and I'll be curious what happens with Thornton and,
- 25:08Speaker 4: you know, how much he plays, if he plays, how
- 25:11Speaker 4: much he plays, how healthy is he, if it's wet
- 25:14Speaker 4: out there and sticky, how willing is he to kind
- 25:16Speaker 4: of test some things. Nick Harbour has not caught one
- 25:20Speaker 4: ball deep this year that he's taken to the house,
- 25:21Speaker 4: and that was his deal last year. I mean, he
- 25:23Speaker 4: was the most lethal downfield threat in this league. And
- 25:28Speaker 4: it's not like they scored a bunch, but when they
- 25:30Speaker 4: did score, generally it was Nick Harbour for 50, 60-plus yards. Yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 4: And he just hasn't been able to get it going.
- 25:38Speaker 4: I'll be curious to see if this is an opportunity
- 25:41Speaker 4: that they feel like they can take there with how
- 25:43Speaker 4: much I believe they're probably going to try to run
- 25:45Speaker 4: the football this weekend. Once you get them kind of
- 25:48Speaker 4: creeping in and maybe you get a shot. Another guy
- 25:51Speaker 4: to keep an eye on for Carolina, Mazio Bennett is
- 25:54Speaker 4: really kind of opening up now at wide receiver. But
- 25:56Speaker 4: Donovan Murph is a deep threat and he really hasn't
- 25:59Speaker 4: gotten enough targets. My understanding is Donovan Murph's going to
- 26:03Speaker 4: get more targets this week. And so that's– number six
- 26:06Speaker 4: is a guy, when he runs onto the field, Gator
- 26:08Speaker 4: fans probably aren't going to know anything about him. Everybody
- 26:10Speaker 4: knows who Nick Harbor is. They're going to look at
- 26:12Speaker 4: number six, and he's just going to be another guy
- 26:14Speaker 4: out there. He's a guy that can beat you. So
- 26:17Speaker 4: they'll want to be careful with that as well. You know,
- 26:20Speaker 4: outside of that, I mean, I think Florida has an
- 26:22Speaker 4: edge in a lot of areas, Allie. I think that
- 26:25Speaker 4: South Carolina certainly, if they play to their potential, can
- 26:29Speaker 4: have the edge in certain areas. Yes. And obviously, you know,
- 26:32Speaker 4: you've got an X factor in Dylan Stewart. And offensively,
- 26:35Speaker 4: if you get Lenora Sellers' legs clicking and they can't
- 26:38Speaker 4: figure out what he's doing, he is absolutely a difference maker.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Well, Jamie, do you have a score prediction in this one?
- 26:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think it's going to go South Carolina's way.
- 26:48Speaker 4: I think that, you know, it's just hard to look
- 26:50Speaker 4: at what they've done defensively and think that they're just
- 26:53Speaker 4: going to have some big comeback all of a sudden
- 26:55Speaker 4: in the swamp against Florida. It's kind of a hornet's
- 26:58Speaker 4: nest that they're walking into, in my opinion. Would I
- 27:01Speaker 4: be surprised if it's a little bit closer?
- 27:03Speaker 3: I wouldn't. Nothing surprises me with South Carolina football.
- 27:06Speaker 4: But, you know, I do think that Florida is probably 10,
- 27:10Speaker 4: 12 points better than the Gamecocks in this one. I've
- 27:13Speaker 4: got them somewhere in that 35-24 range, beating Carolina, sending
- 27:18Speaker 4: them into a bye week at 2-4, 0-4 in the league,
- 27:21Speaker 4: and probably trying to figure out what in the world
- 27:23Speaker 4: they need to do to get.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Things turned around.
- 27:25Speaker 4: And it's going to make my job a lot of
- 27:27Speaker 4: fun having to listen to fans for two weeks, holler
- 27:31Speaker 4: about Shane Beamer, who is likely not going to get
- 27:34Speaker 4: fired even if they drop the game this weekend against Florida.
- 27:37Speaker 2: All right, Jamie, well, we appreciate it.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Tell everybody where they can listen to your work, where
- 27:42Speaker 1: they can follow you on social media, check.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Out all the things.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Yeah, we certainly appreciate that.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Uh, we have an app so you can download our app,
- 27:49Speaker 4: the chief sports app, like Indian chief. Um, and our
- 27:52Speaker 4: whole network is in there, all the programs that we have,
- 27:55Speaker 4: and we own the big spur.com and Gamecock central.com.
- 27:58Speaker 3: So you can always go there.
- 28:00Speaker 4: And if you want to go to our YouTube channel,
- 28:02Speaker 4: you can just type in Inside the Gamecocks and we'll
- 28:05Speaker 4: pop up there as well.
- 28:06Speaker 2: All right.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate it. Thanks for joining us. Good luck
- 28:10Speaker 1: on Saturday and stay dry.
- 28:12Speaker 3: You stay dry. You're the one that's going to be there.
- 28:14Speaker 3: I'm not going to this one.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I will try my best.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm literally trying to figure out how do I outfit
- 28:19Speaker 1: five children to not like drowned in the swamp.
- 28:23Speaker 2: So we're working on it, but it should be fun.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Yeah, that'll be okay. I should have told you. I
- 28:28Speaker 3: should have warned you.
- 28:29Speaker 4: If you go back and look at all the weather
- 28:30Speaker 4: that South Carolina's had to play in this year, you
- 28:33Speaker 4: should have known.
- 28:34Speaker 3: That this was going to happen? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's
- 28:36Speaker 3: rain every week and then record heat in week one.
- 28:39Speaker 3: It's been a debacle.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Well, thanks for sending that our way. I appreciate you
- 28:44Speaker 1: joining me and we're going.
- 28:45Speaker 2: To have to do it again soon.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Absolutely. Appreciate it.
