- 0:52Hello and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God Podcast.
- 0:57I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 0:58Anderson, and joining me today is the wonderful Amy Johnson, who not only happens to be a mom and grandma, but a powerful ministry leader who has stood on the front lines of prayer for her family, especially when her
- 1:11husband was stuck in a gambling addiction.
- 1:13And she is here to help share that battle tested wisdom with us today.
- 1:18As we talk about praying for someone who is under spiritual attack, here are the things we're going to cover in today's episode.
- 1:25First, the Mother's watch how deep, intuitive prayers can intercept red flags in our children's lives.
- 1:33Second, supplication versus demanding.
- 1:36We're going to look at a beautiful verse that talks about tuning our hearts to a humble, passionate frequency that invites in miracles.
- 1:43Third, we're going to talk about the war room strategy, taking God as your general and redirecting the fight away from your family and toward the real enemy.
- 1:54And before we dive in, if you are feeling helpless and ready to start moving mountains on behalf of the people you love, I invite you to hit the subscribe button right now.
- 2:03Leave a comment letting us know the first name of a loved one you are committing to pray for so our community can pray with you.
- 2:12All right, let's kick it off by grounding ourselves in the ultimate instruction manual for spiritual warfare In Ephesians chapter 6, verse 18, where the Paul Apostle Paul commands us, praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit
- 2:28and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication.
- 2:33For all saints.
- 2:35Notice the word supplication.
- 2:37It means the act of asking or begging for something earnestly, humbly and respectfully.
- 2:44We don't approach God demanding things.
- 2:47We come before his throne of grace humbly with respectful, authentic pleading.
- 2:53Paul also teaches us to watch with all perseverance this means that we must be vigilant prayer warriors, always watching over our family, our friends, our sisters in Christ.
- 3:06We do not give up.
- 3:08We act in faith and we follow the quiet promptings of the Spirit.
- 3:13There have been many times in my life when I felt a sudden impression to go check on someone or to pray for them.
- 3:20I didn't know why, but God did.
- 3:22He knew they were battling an invisible storm and needed powerful reinforcements and a reminder of his love.
- 3:30Why, not too long ago, I felt a strong impression to pray for a dear friend of mine.
- 3:36And when I texted her to let her know I was strongly praying for her that day, she said, oh, God knew.
- 3:42Because the battle has been fierce.
- 3:44Now let's listen as Amy shares how her own mother's silent, persistent prayers acted as an unseen safety net during her most difficult years.
- 3:55I believe that when I was a child and a teenager and a young adult growing up, I was experiencing a lot of under attack and I would fall to temptation and fall to temptation and fall to temptation.
- 4:10And then one day I would just feel a shift and I would pick up myself and go talk to my mom.
- 4:21And it wasn't until many years later, as an adult when I was talking to her about my situation with my husband, that she said, I would kneel down and I would pray and I would see red flags for
- 4:39you and I would just know that there was a problem.
- 4:42And so then I would just pray all the mightier for you and I would say, God, I can't reach her.
- 4:48If you could just do something different than is being done and then something would shift.
- 4:56Isn't it beautiful that Amy's mother prayed, God, I can't reach her.
- 5:01Please do something different?
- 5:03This is the exact essence of laboring fervently in prayer.
- 5:07We see this explained in Second Colossians, chapter 4, verse 12, where Paul highlights a companion named Epaphras, describing him as always laboring fervently for you in prayers that ye may stand perfect and complete in all, all the will
- 5:27of God.
- 5:28To pray fervently means to pray with intense passion, deep feeling and unwavering enthusiasm.
- 5:37You are pouring out your whole heart and soul to God on behalf of the person you love.
- 5:43And it doesn't have to be perfect.
- 5:45You can mess up and sometimes you can just hand them your feelings, say here's what I'm feeling.
- 5:50And sometimes there's just no words to describe it, right?
- 5:53The beauty is you do not have to carry that burden alone.
- 5:57I am so blessed to have a tight knit group of sister Warriors.
- 6:01In our Women warriors of Light group, we actively intentionally pray for each other.
- 6:06And whenever one of us is feeling particularly beat up, exhausted, or under severe spiritual attack, we text a direct plea to our sisters and they pray for us.
- 6:16And I can testify that it works.
- 6:18I always feel strengthened by their prayers.
- 6:22Miracles do happen because of the power of prayer.
- 6:25There is an incredible strength that comes from knowing you are not alone on the battlefield.
- 6:32When you lift up your friends, God moves.
- 6:34We see this principle in the life of Job, chapter 42, verse 10, where the Bible notes and the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends.
- 6:45Also, the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
- 6:50When we shift our focus to pleading for the spiritual protection of others, God unleashes miracles and unlocks our own captivity.
- 6:59So you may be wondering, how do we practically organize these prayers when our homes and lives feel full of chaos?
- 7:06Let's listen as Amy shares the life changing lesson she learned about setting up a physical war room to protect her marriage and her children.
- 7:16So when I was dealing with the challenges with my husband, someone suggested that I watch the movie War Room.
- 7:25And she, she really understood.
- 7:28She learned how to understand in that movie how to take God as her general.
- 7:34And at the lowest part, probably in my marriage, that movie fell from the sky basically in my lap.
- 7:43And I started praying for Blair and writing those prayers down and posting them in this, my sewing room at the time.
- 7:56And I would just post all these prayers for Blair and they were my prayers to God.
- 8:02And every time I walked into that room, I would see Blair's not the enemy, remember who the enemy is.
- 8:10And I would pray more.
- 8:12And then those turned into prayers for a son that I was having a hard time with.
- 8:15And, and I know that when we stop worrying so much about what we can do and we start worrying about what God can do, and we start asking for those things and prayers in mighty, mighty, mighty supplication.
- 8:35It changes everything.
- 8:37I can't change hearts.
- 8:39I'm just not that great.
- 8:42But God changes my heart every day, and God changes my husband's heart every day and he changes my children's heart every day.
- 8:51And so all I have to do is be willing to be humble enough to forget myself and ask God to bless those around me with the things that they truly need.
- 9:04It is so incredibly freeing when we stop worrying about what we can do and start trusting in what God can do.
- 9:13When we are humble enough to forget our frustrations, lay down our weapons of anger, and enter deep supplication.
- 9:21God can change hearts in the way we never could, but it's always on his own timeline.
