- 0:05It's engineered for perfection, every contour sculpted for
- 0:12uninterrupted motion, wider, smoother, more refined, and
- 0:20drives like a dream. Introducing the 2026 E 470
- 0:28experience. The difference?
- 0:30You don't go out to the club with all your good looking
- 0:32friends do you? You go with your ugly friends so
- 0:35you look like the good looking one.
- 0:36It's that car show back with a crew show.
- 0:39And what don't we cover in this one?
- 0:43What gets you waved in these days at the best cars and
- 0:45coffees? The Leapers and the Bracarazzi
- 0:48are apparently the new gatekeepers.
- 0:51Plus, industry whispers. Dan rents A benzo.
- 0:54Lindsay parks a truck. I start shopping for a new car.
- 0:57And yes, we talked about that damn Ferrari Luche.
- 1:02Give us a follow. And don't forget to rate, review
- 1:04and subscribe. It's Dan, it's Lindsay, it's me
- 1:08Ryan, and it's that car show. So welcome to this week's car
- 1:12show, Another cruise show this week.
- 1:16I think it's been a relatively quiet week for car stuff.
- 1:19But Lindsay, you were down in Southern California and visiting
- 1:24old, old haunts. Yes, a brief trip down for
- 1:28Memorial Day and of course I had to hit Crystal Cove.
- 1:31It was a pretty quiet weekend there car wise.
- 1:34But even then, you know, quiet at Crystal Cove means that
- 1:38there's a Lamborghini Diablo and a Ferrari 550 and three
- 1:42Mclarens. There was a really cute vintage
- 1:45Mustang in this like kind of it's not the Porsche color, but
- 1:50it was like a lava orange, like tangerine ish, super cute.
- 1:54I was like the ultimate beach car, a Range Rover in this most
- 1:58brilliant blue mat that was like one of those colors that's
- 2:02almost too bright to look at, but it was just spectacular.
- 2:05I'm like, yes, that's my dream car right there.
- 2:07Did you take anything fun to the the show?
- 2:10No, I just took my truck which I do love though.
- 2:15Just the truck, just the. Truck, do you, do you line that
- 2:17up with the other cars or do you park around the corner?
- 2:20Or because this is the dilemma as you roll up to an event,
- 2:22right, you know, where do you fit in in the pecking order?
- 2:25Well, no, I just parked because that's what's so funny about
- 2:29Crystal Cove is like, these cars are not clumped together because
- 2:32it's not official. People just go hang out because
- 2:35there are not a lot of ocean view parking lots.
- 2:37As I've said, you know, this parking lot is right on PCH, the
- 2:40center's right on PCH. You can see the ocean.
- 2:43And so it's just a lovely place to go and have a cup of coffee.
- 2:46And while you're sitting there, it's a rolling car show with
- 2:50some pretty amazing cars usually, but they're all mixed
- 2:53in. So I just park with the rest of
- 2:56them. But I know what you're talking
- 2:58about because there were several times when I would go up to good
- 3:01vibes and I was in the X3 and I'm like the soccer mom that got
- 3:04lost and by the way, Vandalist Crest and I'm like is.
- 3:07This such a thing? Is this such a thing as the
- 3:09introverted car? Like even if you have something
- 3:15pretty special, you still don't want to park it.
- 3:18And it's not about not wanting to show it is just being very
- 3:20introverted. Yeah, right.
- 3:21Is that a thing? I think so.
- 3:24It's like sleeper. Right.
- 3:25I mean, yeah, what we call sleeper.
- 3:27I never used to want to show my SO exotics in Redmond have have
- 3:31got a bar and uh and mine made it over the bar but I never
- 3:36would want to show it so I would park my Porsche around the back.
- 3:40Umm just weird. I just didn't want to show it.
- 3:43Well, there's something nice about kind of being able to slip
- 3:45in and slip out too. Yeah, there's that, right?
- 3:49Yeah. And then I think the new, uh, I
- 3:51don't know uh, bar setters for me are the car spotters at the
- 3:55leapers right at the entrance and exits these places.
- 3:58I went to our friend Willis Woods very first coffee here in
- 4:03in Denver on Saturday's big hit ton of people, some really great
- 4:07cars. I got there a little bit late
- 4:09because there's a lot going on that day.
- 4:11And as I pull in, there were three or four kids at the
- 4:14entrance with big cameras and none of them gave me a second
- 4:17glance. And I was all proud of the GT4.
- 4:19It was freshly cleaned thanks to spider auto detailing and all
- 4:22this. I not for sure I get at least
- 4:24one snap and then I got there and then I realized, yes, there
- 4:26are multiple Mclarens. There were two four GTS.
- 4:30You know, there was a Unimog. There was, I mean there was some
- 4:33far more interesting. Really unique stuff.
- 4:35Stuff. So I think if you're going to
- 4:36roll up in a GT4, clean or not, you get there early, right when
- 4:39they still got lots of storage space on their on their memory
- 4:42card, right? But it was deflating.
- 4:44I mean, it's such a wild scenario where a GT4IS
- 4:48run-of-the-mill. Like that's passe.
- 4:51You're like, yeah, I mean, we're in.
- 4:53We're in a pretty great space if that's the case.
- 4:55But you know what I realized too?
- 4:57And it was parked again because they're all kind of scattered
- 5:01around. There was a Carrera GT there on
- 5:03Sunday or Monday morning. Yeah, there's a place called the
- 5:06Shake Shack. It's been there forever.
- 5:08And a gorgeous, like, 21 window Volkswagen bus pulled out and
- 5:13two really cute bugs. And so we were trying to get
- 5:15pictures of them. So I had to go a little farther
- 5:17South, and as I went by the center, I looked over and, you
- 5:22know, it's such a distinctive tale, like the struts for the
- 5:25wing. I saw it and I'm like, I think
- 5:27there's a career GT in there. Nice.
- 5:29Yeah, that's. Nice.
- 5:30That's pretty great. Those paparazzi kids have got a
- 5:33nickname. Have you guys heard this?
- 5:34Yeah, Brocarazzi. Leapers.
- 5:37Brocarazzi or broccoli heads. Broccoli heads now.
- 5:40Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, well, Tori coined
- 5:43brocarazzi over the weekend because there were brocarazzi
- 5:46all over the parking lot. And it is interesting because
- 5:50they do seem to be the new gatekeepers and we should do
- 5:53like a like bracket brackets or whatever, right?
- 5:55Like to breakdown. What is it exactly?
- 5:57Because I think, you know, I would argue if my car had been
- 5:59in something like a Python green, they would have been all
- 6:01over it, right? But I think colors part of it.
- 6:04I think rarity is part of it. I think time of the day is part
- 6:07of it. But I think they are the new
- 6:10arbiters of of taste at cars and coffees everywhere.
- 6:14There's something about, I think when you grow your hair like
- 6:16that, and those days are long gone for me, but.
- 6:18It gives you. It gives you a.
- 6:19Sense an air of authority that's.
- 6:21That's that's right. It's like, you know, carrying
- 6:23the clipboard. Yeah, yeah, you know, so.
- 6:26I mean, I think we're sunk if that's the case, but are they?
- 6:29So yeah, are they called Leapers?
- 6:31I've heard the term leapers. Have you not heard the term
- 6:34leapers? I think that's an LA thing.
- 6:36F spot on YouTube uses that term and he seems to know what he's
- 6:39talking about. So I mean it's and I think
- 6:41that's because they'll leap right in front of you right And
- 6:43and if you hit them it's still your fault.
- 6:45But maybe that broccoli hair will, you know, afford some
- 6:49degree of impact protection. Crumple zone.
- 6:52That's right. That's exactly what it looks
- 6:54like. Broccoli crumple zone.
- 6:56Well, I was up in Seattle last week and I rented a car and I
- 7:02did my usual trick. I went to the rental desk and
- 7:05said, do you have anything fun? And the gentleman went behind
- 7:10the desk, came back and said, how about a Mercedes?
- 7:15And I'm. Not going to.
- 7:17Turn down the Mercedes. So this was the Cle.
- 7:22So it's a 2 door coupe. It was the Cle 300 with some
- 7:27sort of AMG kit. But I think it's we're way
- 7:29beyond any engineering from AMG on that car.
- 7:34But have you guys driven the Cle before I talk about it, I've got
- 7:38thoughts not. Yet.
- 7:41Spent a couple of days in both the coupe and cabrio version of
- 7:44the of the 53, the E 53, so sort of the light AMG.
- 7:49So the AMG but not, you know, the 63 right?
- 7:54I thought the coupe was an OK car.
- 7:55Nothing wowed me. I was shocked at the lack of
- 7:59structural rigidity in the convertible.
- 8:02It was a brand new car, you know, supplied by Mercedes-Benz,
- 8:05and it's just it it it felt like I was in a Chrysler Sebring, You
- 8:09know, they looked great, but it wasn't enough power to be, you
- 8:13know, to to have me impressed with the power right with the
- 8:1553. So it was it it just it didn't
- 8:18do anything that that great. Maybe you'll agree with me.
- 8:21I thought the infotainment was a little wacky.
- 8:23I thought the steering was quite dead.
- 8:26It just didn't do anything that great.
- 8:28It felt like a rental car, for lack of a better term, and it
- 8:31sounds like maybe you had the same impressions.
- 8:34Yes. You're saying that was the Cle?
- 8:35Was it the AMG though it? Was so yeah, so it was the the
- 8:38what they call the the E 53. So it was the the AMG but not
- 8:42the full AMG, right. And I think you probably had
- 8:45what the Cle is it the three 5300 OK with maybe the AMG
- 8:50package, the the appearance package or something.
- 8:53So, so even you know, Lester on the on the on the totem pole, I
- 8:58guess, but not impressed. Well, this thing I think firstly
- 9:02I got in the car 11,000 miles on the clock and we know that
- 9:08mileage on rental cars equates to dog miles in years, right,
- 9:12Dog years. So times it by 7-8 or nine and
- 9:15you get to the real 11,000 miles.
- 9:18So we'd obviously been well driven.
- 9:20Yeah. They overdo it, and it wasn't
- 9:23necessarily a bad thing, but they overdo it with lighting
- 9:25inside the cabin. Yes.
- 9:27My God, it was like AI don't know.
- 9:30I don't know what it was like, like a disco from the 80s or
- 9:33something, but you've got lights everywhere.
- 9:36Yeah, tell Roxanne to turn the lights out.
- 9:39It was. Right.
- 9:40Like, yeah, the Village People are sat in the back, but yes, it
- 9:46has the the iPad screen. So so I did a bit of research to
- 9:52see what the average age of a Mercedes owner was in North
- 9:55America. And can you guys guess how old
- 9:58the average Mercedes-Benz owner is in North America?
- 10:03I bet it's a lot younger than it used to be.
- 10:05Yeah, that's I'm going to go with 37.
- 10:09I mean, and I would say it's very model dependent, right.
- 10:11Something like like what you drove more of an entry level car
- 10:14is going to be not to mention the CLA, right?
- 10:16But compared to an S class or an SL, I'm sure is quite, I'll say
- 10:2041. So it was 54 really.
- 10:25And the reason, the reason I kind of did that research was,
- 10:28you know, no matter What Car you have modeling the range, some of
- 10:32the things are going to be the same and the technology is going
- 10:34to be very similar as you go through the different.
- 10:37There were no physical buttons was the first issue and I guess
- 10:42the older you get the more you want to touch stuff and not have
- 10:45to search for things in menus. Yeah.
- 10:48That was, that was my first, like the user experience was
- 10:50just shit, the sunroof to open the sunroof and it took me an
- 10:56hour to figure this out. You don't press the button, you
- 11:00swipe it. It's almost like you Tinder the
- 11:03sunroof to get the sunroof open. So.
- 11:08And it's it's not. There's no haptic feedback if I
- 11:10recall. No, no.
- 11:12So you're just kind of like trying to summon this thing and
- 11:14you don't know which way it's going to go or what, what's
- 11:16going to happen. You're just in the car going
- 11:18open sesame. Yeah, yeah, Casting spells.
- 11:21I, I, I even went to a point where I went into the menu
- 11:24settings and said, turn on the hey, Mercedes and I went, hey
- 11:28Mercedes, open the sunroof. You know, you do not have a
- 11:30subscription. My fuck so.
- 11:34And it was a beautiful sunny day in Seattle.
- 11:35Are you serious? You actually encountered the
- 11:38subscription. For the Mercedes Mercedes, I
- 11:42guess if you buy the car they set you up with a subscription
- 11:44right right yeah so the cabin was comfortable it you know nice
- 11:49driving position but the technology was awful I had the
- 11:52SAT NAV fail on me twice with car play the.
- 11:57Price like with you mean it just wouldn't connect to car it?
- 12:00Got stuck on a screen and it wouldn't get back to the map, so
- 12:06that happened twice to me. Dan, that seems something that
- 12:09doesn't happen ever in cheap cars and only ever happens in
- 12:12expensive cars. Or am I wrong?
- 12:13It's strange, isn't it? Yeah, it's super strange.
- 12:16Maybe they just over and you do these things to a point where so
- 12:21it was quite nippy as a 2 liter turbos.
- 12:24You have to spool up the turbo. I've been reading the past, I've
- 12:27talked about the C Class having a great chassis.
- 12:30This didn't have a great chassis, you get a bit bigger
- 12:33and it just handling was in fact shout out to friend of the show
- 12:38Jeff Jones. I picked Jeff up to go and have
- 12:40some dinner and his comment to me this rides like a Tesla.
- 12:47So I think Mercedes have gone a long way in the wrong direction
- 12:50when it comes to I I associate them with luxury.
- 12:54Now I then look and this base price and I don't think it was
- 12:58the one I drove, but maybe the one below was $59,000.
- 13:02So are we expecting too much from a car if it's $59,000
- 13:05versus $80,000? When the average price is 50, is
- 13:10that the? Is that the basic now?
- 13:14I think they're just trying to do too much at that at that
- 13:16price point. Could be and but that's a car.
- 13:20I mean it's on the low end for Mercedes, right, as as far as
- 13:22on, you know, entry point and all that that you know, that's a
- 13:25badge engineered car, I think, unfortunately, but it's it's I
- 13:29think that's the thing with the modern Mercedes-Benz line up
- 13:32there there. It's not, you know, the days of
- 13:33yore where, you know, C Class just drove like a smaller E
- 13:36Class, which drove like a smaller S class, right.
- 13:39You just never know quite what you're going to get right.
- 13:41And, and it just, I think a car like that is just, I don't know,
- 13:44it just, it doesn't ooze Mercedes in, in the way that
- 13:48even even a couple of the current models still do it.
- 13:51Yeah. Well, I mean, I think it's like
- 13:53so many of the manufacturers when you look at like you said,
- 13:56I mean, and the BMW is the same. There used to be a 3A5 and A7
- 14:00series and Mercedes used to have the E, the C and the whatever.
- 14:04And now it's like with crossovers and SUVs and like all
- 14:08the different, it's like smaller and smaller slices of the pie
- 14:13and it I think it's harder to keep it consistent.
- 14:16And I would argue that, you know, maybe the sedans and
- 14:19coupes aren't getting the attention that the crossovers
- 14:21and the SUVs are, right. You know, maybe they're not the
- 14:23the big sellers anymore. But I'm so tired of being
- 14:26disappointed in things, right, especially expensive things.
- 14:30And I think that still qualifies as an expensive car.
- 14:32It's certainly more than the average car, right?
- 14:34And it's got a A3 pointed star on it.
- 14:36I mean, there's certain expectations that that go with
- 14:39that and and. Yeah.
- 14:40I mean, there's definitely expectations for that brand.
- 14:43So Dan, would you like one of my kind of tests for a new car is
- 14:48how intuitive it is to figure things out?
- 14:50So would you say it sounds like it was not intuitive at all,
- 14:53especially with the sunroof issue?
- 14:56Yeah. I mean, if it was getting a Doug
- 14:57score, it would get a one for Yeah, I will say the stereo was
- 15:01good on it. Like it had a Burmeister stereo
- 15:04and you know, you look at other brands and that's a $5000
- 15:07upgrade, right? Yeah, yeah, it's not a $5000
- 15:10sounding system, but it's certainly better than the Bose
- 15:13or whatever, which you know, probably would have come
- 15:15standard with, right. Yeah, at least it's a German
- 15:19brand. At least they're.
- 15:20Sticking with it was a fun car to have for a few days, but
- 15:22like, I wouldn't be buying one. Yeah, well, that's a shame.
- 15:26It's a shame. So yeah, Ryan, you're looking
- 15:30from the next electric car, aren't you?
- 15:32We are, you know, as we've talked about a nauseam on this
- 15:35show, we've got a 2024 pole star Two, we got this amazing deal
- 15:39when they were given those, those throwing out those deals
- 15:41like they were going out of style, especially here in in
- 15:43Colorado. Of course, we no longer have the
- 15:45$7500 federal tax credit. We still have some local credits
- 15:50and that kind of thing. But there's no getting a $60,000
- 15:53car for $230 a month in 2026, right?
- 15:57And I think we're dead set in another EV, especially with the
- 16:00current price of gas. I mean, how can you go wrong?
- 16:03And we would keep this thing if we could, but they they want to
- 16:06buy back a residual $39,000. Now we've only got 15 thousand
- 16:1016,000 miles on the car. I still don't think it's worth
- 16:1339,000. And the sad part is they're
- 16:15going to take this car which doesn't have a scratch on it,
- 16:17which has such few miles, and they're going to put it on the
- 16:20lot for 32 or 34, but they won't sell it to me because it's
- 16:23artificially inflated. And so that puts us in a bind,
- 16:26you know, where do we go from here?
- 16:28I just saw that the Volvo EX30 has been discontinued.
- 16:32And I thought, well, maybe that would be a nice little car.
- 16:34Then remembered how horrid the interiors were on those things
- 16:38and there's a reason that people weren't buying it.
- 16:40And now they're discontinued. Volvo's got the new, I think
- 16:43it's the EX60, which is sort of the new XC60 EV, which Demiro
- 16:48and others have said is pretty wonderful.
- 16:50But I just don't know if there will be deals to be found on car
- 16:54like that. You know, we could stick with
- 16:55Polestar. Polestar 3 is a pretty good car,
- 16:58pretty equivalent I think to the EX60, but they're really only
- 17:02dealing on the Polestar 4. And do you guys know much about
- 17:05the Polestar 4? No.
- 17:08Without the back window, that's. The that's the first thing
- 17:11everyone says, yeah, it has no back window.
- 17:14And I'm thinking, do I really want to drive a car with no back
- 17:17window? I mean, if you've ever driven a
- 17:19car with a with a video rear. View rear view mirror Yeah.
- 17:22Sometimes there's a leg or you know, it's just, it's not.
- 17:25It's not. It's disconcerting.
- 17:26It's. Disconcerting.
- 17:28I, I, I think it's nauseating if you look at it too long, right?
- 17:31It's, it's, it's sort of like, you know, riding a train
- 17:33backward or something. It just doesn't seem quite
- 17:35right. You know, ultimately it's going
- 17:38to come down to price for us. I think anything is going to
- 17:41seem more expensive than what we're paying now.
- 17:44And so I'm open to suggestions. I think EV, yeah.
- 17:48I don't know if I can go Hyundai or Kia.
- 17:51I I've told other people to buy them, but you know, that's,
- 17:54that's tough coming off a pole star, which is basically.
- 17:56A fancy one. Well, I can't afford one of
- 18:02those G 90s and although I am kind of sold on the the pumping
- 18:07of perfume into the into the the cabin while you're driving, but.
- 18:11What's not to love? Yeah, I don't know if you have
- 18:13any ideas, Probably looking at that fifty $60,000 space for an
- 18:18EV. Don't want anything smaller than
- 18:20the pole *2, nothing. Probably larger than an EX60I.
- 18:26I think they're probably some some loyalty retention type type
- 18:30things that that poster will throw up, you know, at us when
- 18:33it comes down to it. But we're looking at probably
- 18:37$6800 for a very similar car to what we have now, which is quite
- 18:40a bit more right than 2:30. But you know, those were the
- 18:44days of free Fiat 500 ease. And those days are yeah, are
- 18:47gone, unfortunately. And and I do think we want to
- 18:50lease. I don't think we want to buy it
- 18:52because I'm still nuts. The prospect of buying an
- 18:54electric car and throwing all your all your money into the
- 18:57into that scares me a little bit still so especially.
- 19:00Just not there yet. Yeah.
- 19:01Yeah, someone said the analogy. It's like buying cell phones.
- 19:05You don't buy the cell phone. You and the technology moved
- 19:09quite quickly. That's it, Dan.
- 19:12Have a look at Cadillac. This was a few months ago, maybe
- 19:16two months ago, but someone was saying there was some good deals
- 19:19to be had on Cadillac. I don't know if they're still
- 19:22there. My Somali my wife says she will
- 19:24not drive a Cadillac. I would drive a Cadillac.
- 19:28Get a Cadillac and a new wife. Yeah, that's, that's it
- 19:33probably. I'm trying to save money here,
- 19:34Dad. You know, it's so I'm not
- 19:37against it. And I think ultimately, when it
- 19:39comes down to she's basically given, you know, trust entrusted
- 19:42me with the process. And I have a feeling we'll
- 19:45probably do. It's got these vision of Ryan
- 19:49get around taking all the badges off of it, Yeah.
- 19:51Yeah, it is a black wing, but it's electric.
- 19:53I swear those those engine noises are just being pumped
- 19:56through to the cabin. But I, I bet we come home with a
- 20:00another pole start or this Volvo EX60, which is, you know, it
- 20:04looks to be a great car. And I think it's a good middle
- 20:06ground for a householder. One of us is very much an
- 20:09enthusiast and the other is very much not.
- 20:11And it's a car that we share, so.
- 20:13And, you know, when you've already got a sports car, you
- 20:15know, your daily driver doesn't have to be that, right?
- 20:17Right. Should be respectable.
- 20:20Something else is not, you know, embarrassed to be.
- 20:24Yeah, it's cool, right, You know.
- 20:25The all. Order.
- 20:26Yeah, yeah. So suggestions.
- 20:30Give us a give us a shout. Leave a comment and tell us what
- 20:33Ryan's next car should be. Yes, yes, the funnier the
- 20:37better. Yeah.
- 20:39And don't say new Ferrari Lucci because I can't afford it.
- 20:44I know. Speaking of, what do you guys
- 20:47think? Are we going there?
- 20:49Yeah, let's go there because we have to go there.
- 20:51I've heard a rumor that Ferrari are very much monitoring all the
- 20:56press feedback on this car and being very selective around
- 21:00future invitations to press junkets based on how people
- 21:05react to this electric car. So I love it.
- 21:07I think it looks amazing. I mean I.
- 21:11Already ordered one. I ordered 2.
- 21:15I I I I will go against the grain.
- 21:22It isn't an unattractive car, it's just not a Ferrari.
- 21:25Yeah, I think that's. The car, there's not a molecule
- 21:28of heritage in that thing. Right.
- 21:30It's fine. But yeah, it's not a Ferrari.
- 21:34I think that's the biggest issue is that it's like nowhere in
- 21:38there do you look at it and see even a hint of the heritage of
- 21:42the brand and the design. I mean just.
- 21:45Question you guys. Yeah.
- 21:47What's the Internet being some so much uproar if they put a
- 21:51Dino badge on it. Oh, Dan, you know, we've been,
- 21:57we've been holding that Dino badge in our back pockets as a
- 21:59show for a couple years, right? We've threatened to pull it out
- 22:02before. Maybe this was this was that
- 22:04time. It's, you know, I, I'll, I'll
- 22:10argue this. What, what if it had been, what
- 22:12if it had looked like a Ferrari, right?
- 22:14I mean, we are we hung up truly on the looks or are we hung up
- 22:17on the EV? Because our, our friend Maurice
- 22:18Merrick at horsepower heritage you puts on a great podcast, had
- 22:21some good points. And it's, it's the EU has these,
- 22:25these CO2 emissions performance regulations that are just
- 22:28getting more and more restrictive.
- 22:30And by, I think by 2029, he said that fleets must reduce their
- 22:34emissions by 15% and five years later by a 55% reduction.
- 22:38And so, you know, Ferrari is an independent, you know,
- 22:41manufacturer, they, they have to find those numbers somewhere,
- 22:45right? But I look at this thing and it
- 22:48doesn't scream Ferrari. I look at this thing, it doesn't
- 22:51scream $500,000 right. And I look at this thing that
- 22:54doesn't scream Luche for that matter, which is Italian for,
- 22:57for, for light. So maybe Dino, you know, Dino
- 23:00was always kind of slapped on. Well, not always because there
- 23:03were, there were some attractive Dino's over the years, But but
- 23:06that was put on cars like the three-way GT4, which was
- 23:10probably was, was designed down right and, and, and, and maybe
- 23:13that that badge would have worked on this.
- 23:15What do you think? Maybe that would have been,
- 23:17yeah, a better approach. And it's, I don't have like the
- 23:21EV thing doesn't bother me because like you said, for a
- 23:25million reasons, nearly all the manufacturers, if not all of
- 23:28them are doing some sort of EV. So I didn't give that a second
- 23:32thought. It reminds me of like when Ford
- 23:36called the mock E, the Mustang mock E because it you know what
- 23:40it is, it feels disingenuous where it's like, we're not
- 23:43stupid. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:45Give us the credit of like, hey guys, we all know this doesn't
- 23:48look like a fiery or like we know this is not a Mustang.
- 23:51So do the do the public or do the enthusiasts, you know, the
- 23:56courtesy of like just be upfront, Just call it a Maki.
- 23:59Just call this. I don't know.
- 24:02Adino maybe? There was such condescension
- 24:05right from some of the the folks I think involved with the
- 24:09designs for this. We know better than you do and
- 24:12you just wait because in a couple years you'll appreciate
- 24:15it kind of thing. And I, I think that works for
- 24:17Porsche, right? I mean, you go back whenever the
- 24:20new 911 comes out, there's some derision right where there, you
- 24:23know, when the 991 came out that's too big or ever with the
- 24:26982 came out also too big to the tail lights in the back don't
- 24:31work the screens right. We got rid of the, the, the
- 24:33physical dials, this kind of thing.
- 24:35And, and, you know, in retrospect, maybe they did know
- 24:37what they're doing, but I just don't see that happening with,
- 24:39with this. And I think they're going to
- 24:40probably end up doing something very, very similar to what Dodge
- 24:43has done with the electric Challenger and Charger, where
- 24:47they're just going to have to have a come to Jesus and just
- 24:50right the ship because I, I just, I just don't see this
- 24:52moving forward. I think they really got caught
- 24:55with their pants down here. And it's, it's, it's, you know,
- 24:57they can't, can't move forward with what they've got.
- 25:01Yeah. I mean, we talked a few few
- 25:02weeks ago per car they make the most profit of any car company
- 25:07in the world, right? So they know things that they
- 25:10know they are doing are doing really well, right.
- 25:13So I wonder if, you know, this is a, we have to do this because
- 25:18of legal and everything else on the legislation.
- 25:22I'm hearing more and more strong rumors that there is a manual
- 25:26car coming from Ferrari. Dave, who listens to the show,
- 25:30sent me a message today to say the Ferrari share price is
- 25:34completely tanked. I've not checked it out but if
- 25:36it has I would suggest and we are not financial advisors.
- 25:39I am now. But knowing that there is a
- 25:42magical right? We do keep offering investment
- 25:46advice though, it's just like the second part time recently.
- 25:52Yes, so I hear that this and I've heard this for two years
- 25:56now. My first, first person who told
- 25:59me was a former head of design at an Italian design house.
- 26:04And I went, I went throw them over the the coals, but they
- 26:07said they weren't there was 1 coming.
- 26:08So, yeah, well. Speaking of Pin Farina, this,
- 26:14you know, really things started going downhill once once Ferrari
- 26:17got rid of pin. Yeah.
- 26:19And, and this is just really the, the, I think the word is
- 26:22nadir, right? I mean, this really is the the,
- 26:25the, the bottom of the of the barrel because what is Ferrari?
- 26:29What is Ferrari? What is a Ferrari, right?
- 26:32Is it one of the things you just know it when you see it or is,
- 26:35is, is there just this implied notion that there is the spirit
- 26:40of the brand baked in and I just, there's just none of that.
- 26:45This is, it's like you took every other electric car right
- 26:49and, and and sort of throw threw it all into, into a bowl and
- 26:53stuck in the oven and this thing came out.
- 26:55Nothing's terrible, but it's not a Ferrari.
- 26:58Well, it's not, yeah, it's not engaging.
- 26:59It's not remarkable. It looks very generic.
- 27:03I was just fact checking myself because Johnny posted about it
- 27:07and said it was designed by the team behind the iPhone.
- 27:11So with that context, it makes a little more sense that it came
- 27:14out looking the way it did, but it still doesn't change the fact
- 27:17that it's like so bland. I have a question for you both.
- 27:21How much will the Daytona seats be for this?
- 27:25Because you know they're going to offer?
- 27:28I mean a lot. And what a weird just, it'll be
- 27:35like a Mr. Potato Head when you're tacking on parts, you
- 27:37know, in an attempt to try to make it look more Ferrari like.
- 27:40And it'll just be a mess when all is said and done so well, I
- 27:43think. What's?
- 27:44Funny too is like the tail lights actually do look Ferrari,
- 27:47but the tail lights, it's such a weird.
- 27:50Like it's like they're throwing everybody a bone.
- 27:52Like, hey, but look at the back. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:55I mean, is there a market for an EV Ferrari?
- 27:57I think that's my bigger like puzzlement, sort of.
- 28:00It's like, who's going to buy it?
- 28:03Look at the tycoon. I think up until recently that's
- 28:06sold pretty well. I mean, in fact, it was in high
- 28:09demand. Rave about it.
- 28:10Yeah, no one ever said it was ugly, right?
- 28:14Just I wonder what other options you can get for it.
- 28:16Do you think you can get the hand painted stripes over the
- 28:18bonnet? I mean I feel like you could
- 28:21probably get anything for like price.
- 28:25Yeah. We're talking $1,000,000
- 28:27electric car by the time you've. I know.
- 28:32I mean, it feels a little bit like, oh, I'm wearing outlet
- 28:37designer brand stuff. It's like, are people going to
- 28:39buy it for the sake of being able to be like, I have a
- 28:41Ferrari? It's like, but do you well?
- 28:45They're going to have to buy it. They get the other cars.
- 28:47Well, that's what I'm wondering. Yeah, and maybe they'll be so
- 28:49heavily discounted right out of necessity.
- 28:52You know, they've certainly got the, the fat on the bone or what
- 28:55have you. But I I think we've got it all.
- 28:57Going to be This is Ryan's next TV.
- 29:02More than 7 1/2. 2000. Answered our own question.
- 29:08But yeah, yeah, I, I, I think, you know, if Enzo was alive to
- 29:12see this, you know, it's he's he's going around really quickly
- 29:16right now. 6 feet under somewhere in Italy, right?
- 29:18Yeah. That was one of the phrases.
- 29:20That was one of the phrases. It was something like Chris
- 29:24Harris's quote today, and I'm going to get it wrong, so listen
- 29:27to that Emergency podcast, but it was something about powered
- 29:30by Enzo Ferrari turning in his grave.
- 29:35As as usual, said more eloquently right by Mr. Chris
- 29:38here. Chris yeah, it's, but there were
- 29:42a couple of other electric car launches in the past couple of
- 29:45weeks. Yeah.
- 29:47So Mercedes had a launch. Did you guys see that?
- 29:51And I saw a lot of pictures and posts about it.
- 29:54I didn't get to go. God knows what they I didn't get
- 29:58an invite and I live in the town.
- 29:59Actually launched it but they took over the.
- 30:03Is it the 6th St. bridge? 6th St.
- 30:05Bridge, which I mean, seems to be something that people need to
- 30:07get places, but what do I know, yeah.
- 30:09And it was a whole week. It wasn't just for one night
- 30:11they took over. They had to get planning to take
- 30:14it over for the whole week, so that would have cost a fortune
- 30:19they. Well, and talk about a mess
- 30:21traffic wise, I mean you close anything in LA and it just
- 30:24creates havoc. So then they brought in F1
- 30:28drivers to. Drive F1 drivers.
- 30:33Yeah, they hired Blink 182 and it was funny because about 3
- 30:39weeks ago I saw an interview with the drummer from Blink 1H2
- 30:43and he said he was interviewed and he said you know, are you
- 30:45playing any gigs this year? And he said we're playing one.
- 30:48So they're only played one gig all year.
- 30:50And he said who are you playing for?
- 30:51And they said oh it's a private gig.
- 30:53And then like who for Mercedes so and a sidetrack.
- 30:59If you want to save money and do it on a budget, Mercedes check
- 31:02out blink 182. There is a Mexican cover band
- 31:08who do covers and maybe we can get inserted into this show a
- 31:11quick clip, but they do they do covers of songs and specifically
- 31:15blink 182. So check them out.
- 31:18But I also heard go on I. Was going to say is blink 182 is
- 31:23that the demographic? Obviously they've researched
- 31:26this. Why Blink 182 of all of all
- 31:33bands? I mean, what would have been a
- 31:34better alignment there? Or was that the right alignment?
- 31:36I don't know. It's.
- 31:38The prices, right? I personally think it's not the
- 31:42way to launch a car, and I'm not.
- 31:45I think we can list the ways that this wasn't the way to
- 31:47launch a car, right? Just it's a big check for one
- 31:51night, right? Yeah, yeah.
- 31:53You know, look at those guys at Zinger, right?
- 31:56Yeah. They went and said we want to go
- 31:58and get the top five lab records in North America, right?
- 32:02So they took their electric car and they drove it, I think, to
- 32:04every location and they the lab records, right?
- 32:07Yep. That's the way people are still
- 32:09talking about that two years later.
- 32:10Yeah, yeah, right. You know.
- 32:12Well, and they made a documentary about it along the
- 32:14way and then shared that at Car Week and it was tremendous.
- 32:19It's real, it's authentic, and this was just a bunch of
- 32:22literally smoke and mirrors, right?
- 32:24And notice we haven't even mentioned the car itself, right?
- 32:27We're talking about the event. But the car itself up until
- 32:30today was the ugliest car that had been released over the past
- 32:33seven days, right? And to see who's Ferrari?
- 32:36'S Who's Ferrari's biggest fan right now?
- 32:39Mercedes. Yeah, Ferrari, that'd help my
- 32:41Peroni. Good Lord, I mean, thank God for
- 32:44Ferrari because we had six days or whatever it was of, of our
- 32:47peers, automotive journalists, you know, walking a very thin
- 32:52line right about I've heard other terms used, but trying
- 32:58very hard not to disparage the car itself.
- 33:00I mean, it must have been a hell of a party, right?
- 33:03And now, of course, we see that with the Ferrari too, names that
- 33:06we know that we trust people on YouTube and they're they're
- 33:09building up things like the retracting EV charging panel gas
- 33:15flap thing. It's like this is what they're
- 33:17highlighting, right? That's what they have to talk
- 33:20about. Yeah, they're doing this really
- 33:21weird dance of not wanting to offend Mercedes or Ferrari and
- 33:25I, I, I get it. But where's the objectivity?
- 33:29Where's? I think the the Mercedes launch
- 33:32was like a flash in the pan as these people are going to be
- 33:35talking about the Ferrari launch for a while and it wasn't a
- 33:37special launch, it was just a special car.
- 33:40And if you're listening Ferrari, I think it looks great.
- 33:43That's right. And the last name is PIL for the
- 33:48future. That's, that's, that's right.
- 33:50That's right. You know how like, you know,
- 33:52when the federal government like releases like bad news about the
- 33:55economy, it's always over like the holiday weekend, right?
- 33:58This is exactly what Ferrari did.
- 33:59And I think that tells you everything you need to know.
- 34:02But yeah, I mean, when you talk about like the engagement,
- 34:06people talked about the Mercedes for a bit, like talked about the
- 34:08event kind of in the next the days, couple days following the
- 34:11event. But so far Ferrari has
- 34:14definitely created engagement and discussion.
- 34:17But it's kind of like what was it a year and a half ago, the
- 34:22Jaguar redesign? I mean, look at the look at the
- 34:25engagement and discourse that was generated by that.
- 34:30But I think the difference. Is Jaguar is going to be, I
- 34:33don't know, half the price of is that now a beautiful car?
- 34:37Which one? The Mercedes.
- 34:39The Jaguar, Jaguar. Sorry, Jaguar, Jaguar.
- 34:45It's a good question, Dan. It's all relative, isn't it?
- 34:48It's all relative. Well, I mean, yeah, it's like
- 34:51you don't go out to the club with all your good looking
- 34:53friends. Do you go with your ugly friends
- 34:55so you look like the good looking one?
- 34:59This is the Pilling Club strategy we're finding out.
- 35:03Yes, yes. And that is our.
- 35:04I mean, I don't think it changes.
- 35:06It doesn't change how I think the car looks, but it definitely
- 35:12changes sort of like where it is in value.
- 35:18Yeah, and like consideration, I guess, because if it's if it
- 35:22looks a certain way and you feel a certain way about how it looks
- 35:25and the prices in the stratosphere, then you're like,
- 35:27well, I don't even need to think about it.
- 35:28But if it's in a more affordable range, then does it make you
- 35:34reconsider? Like, OK, well would I drive it
- 35:37for, you know, like the conversation starter Ness of it
- 35:42if it was more affordable, because it would definitely like
- 35:46generate engagement, you people would talk to you.
- 35:48What? Do you think right?
- 35:51I don't even know anymore what's up is down.
- 35:54What's right is wrong, you know. Slowly so.
- 35:59That's Ferrari is sacred, I think in a way that you know, is
- 36:02unique right to a brand. And this was this was really
- 36:07sacrilege. I, I, you know, it just, I this,
- 36:11this was kind of the last, the last sacred brand, right?
- 36:15And. Definitely the high watermark
- 36:18for sure. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:19And and and but. I mean, I in, I think we're
- 36:22seeing this actually with a lot of kind of the heritage brands.
- 36:26I mean, again, look at Jaguar tried to do this and is, it is,
- 36:33do they know something that we don't in terms of like times are
- 36:37changing, the market's changing, what people want is changing.
- 36:40And so they're feeling like they have to do this drastic, like,
- 36:45you know, redesign to stay relevant for the current car
- 36:48buyer. Like is that part of it?
- 36:52I think there are car companies that have got it right.
- 36:54So you look at Renault, Renault have done an electric Renault 5
- 36:59and everyone loves it, right? It plays on history of the car
- 37:03brand. You know, it's a familiar
- 37:05looking but modern technical, technological device.
- 37:09So I think some companies get it right.
- 37:14And some don't. And Ferrari in that group.
- 37:18Let's move us away from electric via hybrid, shall we?
- 37:22Will slowly go off of electric. We'll quietly like, feel like
- 37:28we're getting raptured and move on to a new topic.
- 37:30Yeah, because I think we've been this one to death.
- 37:34Audi have just released a new advertising campaign for the
- 37:38hybrids. I think it's the RS5 and they
- 37:44have stolen all my ideas. Again.
- 37:48That's how you know they're good.
- 37:50It's June, July 20/21/2021. Four years ago, five years ago,
- 37:54five years ago, I got to test drive one of the early tie cans
- 38:00and I got to write an article on him.
- 38:03And this is way before the film as well.
- 38:06But what I did is I took the example of Bob Dylan.
- 38:10So if you're not familiar, Bob Dylan was very famous because in
- 38:15one one occasion he went to a music festival and instead of
- 38:22playing folk, as the history of the festival was, he plugged in
- 38:25an electric guitar. Half the group, half the
- 38:28audience loved it. Half the audience were an
- 38:30uproar. But I compared that moment in
- 38:34musical history to the coming of age of electric cars with the
- 38:39Porsche Taycam. Well obviously Audi have got a
- 38:41lot more budget than I had, so they've just released a video on
- 38:44very similar line. Right.
- 38:48Can you believe it? Can I see them?
- 38:50Like what can I do? You know they can at least, you
- 38:52know, throw a new car your way, right?
- 38:55Right, right. It's, it's a great commercial,
- 38:59right? I think a borrowed idea, but you
- 39:02know. Stolen.
- 39:02Genius. Stolen.
- 39:04Stolen. I mean, it's it's there.
- 39:05It is. It's in a magazine with the
- 39:06print date. I mean, it's exhibit A, right?
- 39:09Yeah, yeah, it's. Yeah, what are they?
- 39:11What's the argument? You know when when certain
- 39:15musicians, they will sample prior songs.
- 39:18Howdy was heavily, heavily sampling Dad's article.
- 39:21Yeah, yeah, It's like Vanilla Ice Audi of Vanilla Ice.
- 39:27I was. Going to say the Sugar Hill
- 39:29Gang, but I guess that shows the difference in ages for us so.
- 39:32Well, who was that? Wasn't there an issue with?
- 39:35Wasn't Robin Thicke and like Marvin Gaye's family a few years
- 39:39ago, wasn't that what it was and they were saying?
- 39:40That wasn't even a sample. No, just the same song, but.
- 39:44That was the ultimate decision was this does not qualify as
- 39:47sampling. Yeah, yeah, it's, I don't know,
- 39:51maybe to bring this back to our, you know what we were talking
- 39:53about just before this, maybe it's kind of maybe we've run out
- 39:55of ideas, right? There are only so many notes on
- 39:57a musical scale, right? Yeah, only so many combinations,
- 40:00right? You can you can put them in and
- 40:02and maybe we just. I don't know.
- 40:05We need a new drug. We needn't, you know, we need a
- 40:07refresh, a clean. I guarantee you Audi, I
- 40:10guarantee you Audi watched the film a complete unknown.
- 40:14And the advertising agency, that's where they got the idea
- 40:16from. So in essence, the movie copied
- 40:19me as well. I'm straight.
- 40:23Also, he loves Ferrari. You have really great ideas.
- 40:26That's right, I do. And I'm available for
- 40:29consultation. So that we've established now
- 40:32I'm very good at customer service.
- 40:34So if you're an automotive dealer, but also if you want
- 40:36ideas around advertising new cars, just call on that car
- 40:39show. So Stalantis have agreed and
- 40:45signed a memorandum of understanding with Jaguar Land
- 40:50Rover. Like, is that one of the best
- 40:53collaborations in the world to happen, or one of the worst?
- 40:57It's wild, like I'm and because we have so little information,
- 41:01they said they're going to share product and technology
- 41:04information. But I'm like, So what does that
- 41:07mean? I'm I'm so curious because it's
- 41:10such an interesting pairing. Every stalantis slash Chrysler
- 41:15slash, what is a Daimler right, You know, mash up in the past
- 41:20has has been awful, right. So I, I don't have high hopes
- 41:25for any sort of partnership here.
- 41:27It was Myron Vernus right when he was talking about a few
- 41:30shows, back when he was talking about the, the brilliant Greek
- 41:33engineering, you know, added to the, the British, what was, I
- 41:38can't remember what did. He have that unique car that he
- 41:41has. Relyon.
- 41:42Maybe it was, but they made one in, in, in Greece, right?
- 41:45So I mean, if, if the one built in the UK wasn't bad enough, get
- 41:48the one built in Greece, right. It's that same thing though. 2
- 41:51wrongs don't make a right, you know, and, and I I'm wondering
- 41:54if that's where this is headed so.
- 41:57Well, I mean, I think we like both of them separately.
- 42:00I just, I'm, I'm fascinated to see this unfold because I'm
- 42:04just, I'm really curious what the hope is and what the intent
- 42:08is. You know, I'm like, does this
- 42:10mean we're going to get like a Range Rover Pacifica and then,
- 42:13you know, Angela's death highway will just be the happiest, you
- 42:16know, person around? It's weird though, because
- 42:19you've got at one point you've got Jaguar Land Rover who do a
- 42:23premium product. Right.
- 42:25Stalantis when they do a premium product it doesn't sell.
- 42:29Look at the Wagoneer. Right.
- 42:32So, OK, so that doesn't work. Stalantis have said they're
- 42:36going to make probably four or five new cars under 40,000.
- 42:41I can't see that working with Jaguar Land Rover and their
- 42:44branding. The only thing I can hope for is
- 42:48that they take some of the ideas from the Jeep and they make a
- 42:52Defender pickup truck. How cool would that be?
- 42:55Oh yeah, I could see that being a good marriage, partnership,
- 43:00whatever. Like there's definitely
- 43:02potential there. I.
- 43:04Just want to know what the objective is, right?
- 43:06I think for any venture, there should be an objective clearly
- 43:09stated, right? And everything you do should be
- 43:11done toward that goal. And, and I'm just not quite sure
- 43:14what that goal is yet. And it's Jaguar Land Rover.
- 43:18I thought it was just Jaguar. Now Jaguar, Jaguar Land Rover I
- 43:21think, has a little more to offer.
- 43:25I wonder. Go on, Lindsay.
- 43:27No, I mean, I think it's, I mean, I have to think it's
- 43:30economic where they think they can kind of share, you know,
- 43:33like develop something and share it across more of the vehicles.
- 43:36But it's weird like they're, they have such different
- 43:40objectives as companies like you were saying, Dan like 1 is a
- 43:42premium brand. One is the bulk of the cars are
- 43:46not thought of as premium necessarily.
- 43:48So it's it's a curious pair for sure.
- 43:52I wonder if they're going to let Land Rover build in a factory in
- 43:57the US because that way you would get rent.
- 44:02Well, yeah, Dan, I mean, you look at BMW, you look at
- 44:05Mercedes, What are the cars that you build in the States?
- 44:07It's their SUVs, right? Yeah, smart guy Dan.
- 44:11Interesting. Yeah.
- 44:13An excellent point, Yeah. And he's available, ladies and
- 44:16gentlemen, that's. Right.
- 44:17That's right. So bring a trailer.
- 44:21Have just posted a car that I can't believe they're allowed to
- 44:24sell. Well, and it already sold.
- 44:27Did it sell? OK so shout out to Victoria who
- 44:29shared this with me. This was a Aston Martin DB9, so
- 44:35we're definitely out of electric woods right now.
- 44:37It had a Corvette LS3V8 swap and it had gone to Q town to be to
- 44:45be modified in a James Bond style.
- 44:48So, Lindsay, what did it sell for?
- 44:50So it's sold for and I love this so much.
- 44:52It's so silly but I love it. 57,000 and $7.00 SO 57, Double O
- 44:587. That's brilliant, That's
- 45:01brilliant. I love it.
- 45:02I mean, I'm kind of disappointed.
- 45:04I I would really enjoy a car that shoots flames out the
- 45:07front. Yeah, flames out the front.
- 45:09Yeah, it's, yeah. It just been taken to town to
- 45:16Yeah, that's one way to deal with LA traffic.
- 45:19Yeah, just flamethrower people out of your way.
- 45:24Yeah. Well, congratulations to the new
- 45:27buyer. Congratulations on making a very
- 45:30good bid. Yes, that's that's very.
- 45:33Smart. Please reach out as we would all
- 45:35love to experience the car in person.
- 45:37That's right, Ford are doing more collaborations on the
- 45:41Bronco front, is that right? Yeah, they're, so they're doing
- 45:44the F-250 and up I think with Carhartt.
- 45:48And then now they've announced that they're going to be doing a
- 45:49Bronco with Filson, which Dan and I are familiar with because
- 45:53it's a an outfitter based in Seattle.
- 45:57And other than they've announced that they're doing a Bronco with
- 46:00Filson, there are no details yet, but the launch is June 3rd.
- 46:03So we will know soon enough. Yeah, yeah.
- 46:06And in the summer that that head office is a place for cars and
- 46:09coffee, right? Yeah, it's a good place to go
- 46:12And. And they're car people and it's
- 46:14great. So I.
- 46:15Like this partnership? Yeah, it makes a lot more sense.
- 46:20Yeah, I, I, I know the brand name, but I don't know the brand
- 46:23that well. It would it what?
- 46:24Is there a signature piece Filson is known for, like is?
- 46:28I mean, I think they make like premier outdoor like out or
- 46:32they're a an outdoor outfitter, but I think it should be cool
- 46:35and. Gear stuff, yeah, OK, I think.
- 46:39I wouldn't end up. Wearing anything but.
- 46:43Shut your mouth, you know, but I feel like the Bronco is is, you
- 46:47know, it's long in the tooth. You know enough now, right?
- 46:50Where maybe it needs a little injection right of of of cool.
- 46:53And maybe Filson is here with the syringe.
- 46:55That's right, it's. A bad image.
- 46:57No, that's great. Last weekend the Internet broke,
- 47:02we came to Cars and Coffees because I don't know if it's a
- 47:07new owner but someone took a road legal McLaren F1 longtail
- 47:12to a Cars and Coffee at IKEA. Did you guys see this?
- 47:15It did. I saw that you shared, do you
- 47:18know where? Them.
- 47:20I know where was this cars and coffee?
- 47:22Do I mean obviously IKEA, but do we know what?
- 47:25City, I'll tell you in a second, so it says cars and Coffee
- 47:32doesn't say the location. Yeah, they definitely won cars
- 47:36and coffee that day for sure. Right.
- 47:38It's like, how'd you beat that? And I saw the sister car to that
- 47:42a few weeks ago, so I guess you can talk about it.
- 47:45So a few weeks ago when I went to BMW, when we did some filming
- 47:49in South Carolina, we filmed the McLaren F1 long tail race car.
- 47:56So there'll be a video coming out on that soon on the Peterson
- 47:58Channel. Nice.
- 48:01Yeah, exactly the same branding I believe to the Finner fuel.
- 48:05Very. Cool, yeah.
- 48:08Yeah, it's it makes the cars and coffees we go to look a bit
- 48:11bland, isn't it? Yeah.
- 48:15Yeah, yeah, definitely blows the Carrier GT out of the water,
- 48:18right. Yeah, GT 4, right?
- 48:23Yeah. What have we got coming up?
- 48:24Have we got much coming up? I think hopefully just more
- 48:27driving now that the weather is getting better kind of.
- 48:30I mean I say that as it was like pouring rain this morning here.
- 48:33But hopefully in general the driving weather is going to be
- 48:37more and more consistent. So just getting out and driving
- 48:40all the cars hopefully. How about you guys?
- 48:43I'm off in the morning to three days of driving with a couple
- 48:46car buddies. We are headed to Aspen and
- 48:50environs and it's about the only time of year I can afford to
- 48:53stay in Aspen. The mud seasons.
- 48:55Yes. So.
- 48:56Yeah, you got to go in the offseason.
- 48:58That's right. That's right.
- 48:59It's still expensive, but it's better.
- 49:02No, looking forward to it. I think the the fleet is is my
- 49:06GT4. We've got a Ruby Star Spider Rs
- 49:10and then some sort of very heavily modified C8 Corvette
- 49:14that I'm sure will take us in the straights, but we'll choke
- 49:16in the corners. So I'm looking forward to it and
- 49:21I, I'm sure I'll have plenty to talk about when we when we get
- 49:24back. There's always some good car
- 49:25spotting in Aspen too, so. That's awesome.
- 49:28I want to give you guys a list of cars that I'm going to see
- 49:32this weekend and I am going to say it is a who's who list of
- 49:38cars. I'm going to be heading out to
- 49:41Sonoma Raceway Velocity Invitational.
- 49:46So a big shout out to Ally and the team who are kind of going
- 49:48to host me this weekend. Are you ready for this list of
- 49:52cars? Like, I'm not sure I believe it
- 49:54until I see them. OK.
- 49:56I mean, we're sitting down. Yeah, and listening comfortably.

- 51:10these people went to the enterprise con and they said do
- 51:12you have anything fun? That's right.
- 51:15That's right. And.
- 51:16That's. Amazing available.
- 51:18Yeah. That is awesome.
- 51:20Well, I can't wait to hear about.
- 51:21It Yeah, you have some stories. Yeah.
- 51:23Just be careful when you park, huh?
- 51:25Brian, it's yeah, it should be. Should be a fun weekend.
- 51:31Have you been to Velocity before, Dan?
- 51:33I have not. Have you been?
- 51:35I haven't and I keep hearing from people that have gone that
- 51:37it's like just the bee's knees. So I'm I'm very jealous that you
- 51:41get to go and I want to hear about it So but I don't think
- 51:43you're going to have an amazing time.
- 51:44I've heard it's like a top notch event.
- 51:48Is Jorge joining you from tormenting Tarmac?
- 51:50He's not, so he went a couple of years ago, didn't.
- 51:52He. And he got to interview Jensen
- 51:55Button. That's right.
- 51:55So check out for his podcast for that.
- 51:58He got to interview. I think he spent some time with
- 52:00the Dirtfish folks. Yeah, he had Josie on there, I
- 52:04think. Yeah.
- 52:05So yeah, had. A fun interview with Zach
- 52:08Klatman last week too, which is definitely.
- 52:10Worth it. He's on fire.
- 52:11Isn't he out as well? He is.
- 52:13Yeah, that boy's phone book is kind of popping up now.
- 52:16There's. None of him.
- 52:18Yeah, son, he is, you know, a podcast son.
- 52:24So you've got Steve and his mum, you've got, oh, his artificial
- 52:30dad just. For podcasting.
- 52:34I'm old enough to be his dad. That's anyway too.
- 52:39Honey, that's do we need to give anyone else a shout out before
- 52:44we finish up tonight. I'm sure we do, but I'll think
- 52:49of it later. Yeah, insert names here.
- 52:52Can we can we give a plug to the 150 years of Mercedes-Benz
- 52:57exhibition? 100 years?
- 52:59I'm sorry I'm. So the Peterson Museum has just
- 53:03opened up 100 years celebration. It's called a world class.
- 53:08OK. And that's a play on words
- 53:10because obviously all the Mercedes have a certain class, S
- 53:13Class A class, right? Clever.
- 53:16So obviously the the company is older than 100 years, but when
- 53:20Mercedes and Benz got together, that was 100 years ago.
- 53:23I see. OK, well that's where my
- 53:25confusion came in. But yeah, that's cool.
- 53:28It looks amazing, Yeah. There's a race car in there
- 53:31worth $70 million. There are two 2 not one, but 2
- 53:37Pebble Beach winners. Nice.
- 53:40There is Walt Disney's last car. Oh.
- 53:43That's cool. And I won't give to any others
- 53:45away because, but if you're in LA, actually there's a few right
- 53:50now. So if you're in LA and you want
- 53:51to go see that, see that there is also a very limited edition
- 53:55BMW in the Peterson as well right now.
- 53:59So last weekend BMW launched in person a new M3 CS manual and
- 54:09it's got some stupid German names so.
- 54:11It's key to pronounce it for us, but.
- 54:14Yeah, it's called hand Shafter or something like that.
- 54:17You know it's a good time. But this is a role reversal
- 54:20because historically, you know, the Europeans and the Brits get
- 54:24the the best M cars and the best BMWs.
- 54:27You know, the M3 CS wagon Touring is available there, but
- 54:33not here. So this is a bit of a love
- 54:36letter for the end of that model.
- 54:38And they've done a lightweight so it's slightly lighter,
- 54:41slightly less horsepower. Rear wheel drive only manual M3
- 54:45CS. And it's only coming to North
- 54:47America, right? The manual.
- 54:49Yes. And there's going to be less
- 54:50than one per dealership, which is pretty cool.
- 54:54It's going to be limited. It's not limited production, but
- 54:56there are limited run and I think for a month it's going to
- 55:00be on display in the museum. So go check it out.
- 55:04That's awesome they're taking the What were you saying?
- 55:07Ferrari builds 2 less cars than they know they have demand for.
- 55:10Right, right. That ethos.
- 55:12Yeah. And I was talking to someone who
- 55:14actually was that car who was, but was actually there when they
- 55:17said that. Really.
- 55:20It was in Monterey. It was Luca de Montezemelo in
- 55:24Monterey, and he said it in public.
- 55:26I mean, it's probably not the first and last time he said it,
- 55:28but it was the same time period where he announced it.
- 55:31I wish I could remember. Let me know who that was.
- 55:33Takes me. That was you.
- 55:36The source Reveal yourself. Yeah.
- 55:39By the way, do you know how many people have been hitting me up
- 55:41for the true identity of Angela's Death Highway lately?
- 55:45Yeah. I don't know.
- 55:46I don't think any of us know. So stop asking.
- 55:48But thank. You you protest too much, right?
- 55:55What caught me by surprise and it makes perfect sense.
- 55:57I just because they've kept their identity a secret and you
- 56:02know, you can reach them through the Instagram account.
- 56:05I wasn't expecting the people that were assuming we knew
- 56:07because we had had them on the show, because I had people say
- 56:10like, well, how did you book them if you don't know who it
- 56:12is, which is a reasonable question.
- 56:14Burner phones and voice disguisers.
- 56:16I mean, that's how we roll. He was very.
- 56:19Quick, wasn't he to get the parody video?
- 56:21Ferrari parody. Video out what I was getting at
- 56:24yeah and I mean. Borically, I can tell you it's
- 56:26not me. Ferrari please, please.
- 56:28It's not me. And again, that last name
- 56:30spelling is. Yes, yes, absolutely.
- 56:33Look, look very good on a gust placard around his neck.
- 56:37So. That's right, yes.
- 56:38Media credentials please, Ferrari.
- 56:41He's been killing it with his videos lately though, because
- 56:43they've been just so timely. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:47I mean, again, it's like commentary because I'm like, I
- 56:49go watch those and I'm like, all right, that's what happened, you
- 56:52know? Just keeps getting sharper.
- 56:54Yeah, exactly. I don't know, but it's it's been
- 56:58fun hearing people's guesses of who they think it is.
- 57:00Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And we haven't mentioned mustard
- 57:03once this whole show. So we did well, didn't we?
- 57:06We're in custody. We almost made it, yeah.
- 57:10The feud continues there, though.
- 57:12And it's great to be a spectator, isn't it?
- 57:15I mean it's my favorite car drama at the moment.
- 57:20He is piping hot, probably saying that wrong.
- 57:25Is that a show? I guess that's a show.
- 57:27Think it is. Well, thank you for listening.
- 57:31As always, big thank you to our sponsors.
- 57:35There are slots still available. If anyone's interested in
- 57:37sponsoring the show, just e-mail us or reach out on our
- 57:41Instagrams. We'd love to talk to you.
- 57:43Well, on that note, remember always be driving where that car
- 57:47show and we will see you next week.
