- 1:38- Here is today's prayer.
- 1:45- Hello and welcome to divine five one five
- 1:47- daily prayers with Valerie Rocha.
- 1:50- Today's prayer challenge is how to deal
- 1:53- with choosing humility
- 1:55- over pride.
- 1:57- Scripture text comes from Philippians two three
- 2:00- and says, do nothing out of selfish ambition
- 2:03- or vain conceit,
- 2:05- rather in humility value others above yourself.
- 2:10- Now.
- 2:12- Pride often appears in subtle ways.
- 2:14- We insist on being right.
- 2:17- We struggle to apologize or expect others to
- 2:19- change before we're willing to change ourselves.
- 2:24- And one of the, the biggest things about
- 2:26- it is
- 2:27- that
- 2:28- not only is that one of the biggest
- 2:31- challenges that we, we can deal with,
- 2:34- right. Just being a, a believer,
- 2:37- But it can be hard to remember that
- 2:39- that's what God has actually kicked out of
- 2:41- the, out of the kingdom is being disobedient
- 2:45- and,
- 2:46- the enemy
- 2:47- who wanted to be like God. Right? Because
- 2:50- being
- 2:51- God being himself is very beautiful and very
- 2:54- very attractive,
- 2:55- decided to he couldn't get to God, so
- 2:57- he was gonna get to us. Right? And
- 2:59- so one of the biggest challenges that we're
- 3:01- faced with
- 3:02- is how to stay
- 3:04- humble.
- 3:06- And let me tell y'all, it is not
- 3:09- just an act.
- 3:11- It's a
- 3:12- mental and spiritual
- 3:14- posture.
- 3:16- And
- 3:17- in order to get those prayers
- 3:20- answered effectively,
- 3:22- that's the first thing after repentance
- 3:25- that you you gotta have. You gotta have
- 3:27- the mindset of humility
- 3:29- and realize that it's really not about us.
- 3:32- It's all about God and and how we
- 3:35- can help others.
- 3:37- And one of the things that stands out
- 3:39- right now regarding that is when the scripture
- 3:41- talks about,
- 3:43- our father who is in heaven, thy kingdom
- 3:45- come, thy will be done.
- 3:48- It's not about what God can do for
- 3:51- us, although he does do a lot for
- 3:53- us, but what we can do for him
- 3:56- and do for others.
- 3:58- And that's actually how we how we serve
- 4:01- him effectively,
- 4:02- by serving the needs of others.
- 4:04- And pride will often keep us from doing
- 4:07- that.
- 4:09- Humility doesn't make us weak.
- 4:11- It it really doesn't.
- 4:13- In fact,
- 4:15- I would say that
- 4:17- it really not only makes you stronger,
- 4:21- but it will bring you closer
- 4:24- in your relationship with God.
- 4:26- It makes us teachable and creates space for
- 4:29- God to work in our relationships
- 4:32- between
- 4:33- him and you, between you and yourself,
- 4:37- you and others, and you and nature.
- 4:40- It's it's really a win win, but it
- 4:43- does require some work and effort.
- 4:46- So
- 4:48- that being said, remember,
- 4:51- with God, all things are possible.
- 4:54- And if it's something that you're struggling with,
- 4:56- lay it on the throne and don't pick
- 4:58- it back up.
- 5:01- And on that note,
- 5:03- let's go to the throne together.
- 5:07- What father
- 5:08- remove any pride that keeps us from becoming
- 5:11- more like Christ.
- 5:13- Teach us to value others above ourselves and
- 5:16- to respond with gentleness instead of defensiveness.
- 5:20- Help us listen with understanding,
- 5:23- speak with grace, and love without conditions.
- 5:28- Shake our heart until humility
- 5:31- becomes
- 5:32- strength.
- 5:34- And thank you for the example Jesus
- 5:37- has given to us.
- 5:40- And we will bless you in Jesus' name.
- 5:43- Amen.
- 5:45- Today's kingdom invitation
- 5:47- challenge
- 5:48- is to ask God to help you choose
- 5:50- humility
- 5:51- in one conversation that you've been struggling with.
- 5:55- If this was encouraging to you,
- 5:59- share it
- 6:00- and empower someone else.
- 6:02- And until tomorrow, keep meeting God at the
- 6:05- throne
- 6:06- because the relationship
- 6:08- matters.
