- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Network. Hi,
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm Rick Darringer, Rock and Roll hoo Chiku, and you're
- 0:06Speaker 1: listening to tech Talk Radio. Welcome to another episode of
- 0:12Speaker 1: tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm and I'm Justin Lemmey.
- 0:16Speaker 1: We have the show that talks about computers, technology and
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Internet. How you guys doing doing great? Thanks for
- 0:22Speaker 1: joining us. Yeah, it's good. Everybody good.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Everybody's you know, we're getting to the end of the semester,
- 0:29Speaker 2: so I'm just counting the days.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I loving it because in last week's show we heard
- 0:34Speaker 1: how Sean was playing around with the wise bulbs. You're
- 0:37Speaker 1: still having a good time with that?
- 0:38Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I actually so.
- 0:39Speaker 2: They came off of pre orders only, and I bought
- 0:42Speaker 2: four more to fill out the rest of my basement
- 0:45Speaker 2: with four more. I had bought four more to fill
- 0:47Speaker 2: out the rest of my cam lights in the basement.
- 0:49Speaker 1: So how many you have now? Seventeen twelve? Now, okay,
- 0:57Speaker 1: I wasn't too far off. Can you control like a
- 0:59Speaker 1: set of four or one? How do you control them
- 1:02Speaker 1: with the app?
- 1:04Speaker 3: In the app?
- 1:05Speaker 2: In the app you can put them into groups, so
- 1:07Speaker 2: like I have the ones that are directly behind me
- 1:09Speaker 2: over my office, over my computer called my computer desk, right,
- 1:13Speaker 2: and I can control just those those four. But then
- 1:16Speaker 2: the rest I have on what I call the theater,
- 1:19Speaker 2: which I can then control just those ones. I've written
- 1:21Speaker 2: to wise already because I'm a little frustrated at some
- 1:23Speaker 2: of the UI with the app. Based on how new
- 1:26Speaker 2: the bulbs are and stuff. There are scenes you can build,
- 1:28Speaker 2: So I can build a scene and I can like
- 1:31Speaker 2: have this bullbi dimmed to fifty percent, but this bab
- 1:34Speaker 2: seventy five different colors, and I can set up a mood. Essentially,
- 1:39Speaker 2: you can't you can't make a rule within the app
- 1:42Speaker 2: that says push this button to load this scene. I
- 1:44Speaker 2: can load a color or a white balance, but I
- 1:47Speaker 2: can't load a scene. So I have to go into
- 1:49Speaker 2: the group, pick the group, pick the scene, because I
- 1:51Speaker 2: want to be able to make two moods or one
- 1:56Speaker 2: mood for both both scene groups down here. So I
- 1:59Speaker 2: can hit the button and say go to this mood
- 2:01Speaker 2: for the basement, and the basement will be in that mood.
- 2:04Speaker 2: But right now I have to go to each group
- 2:06Speaker 2: and do it individually.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Wow, that would be a little confusing, I would think.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Now I can do a white out.
- 2:10Speaker 2: So I made one called whiteout, which sets it to
- 2:12Speaker 2: the standard white balance that my basement is like, and
- 2:15Speaker 2: I can hit white out.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It doesn't because I can.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I can pick and make rules based on the white colors,
- 2:20Speaker 2: but I can't make a rule based on the scene.
- 2:24Speaker 2: They look great and they're bright. They are very functional,
- 2:28Speaker 2: and I've had no issues with them. They're super easy
- 2:30Speaker 2: to set up. I can make scenes, like I said,
- 2:32Speaker 2: I can make these scenes. I can build whatever colors
- 2:35Speaker 2: I want and then load, save them, and load them.
- 2:38Speaker 2: But I just can't use rules to make them happen.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Like I can't say if I had a home assistant
- 2:43Speaker 2: or Alexa, I could say, hey, Alexa, load Sean's gaming scene.
- 2:47Speaker 3: It can't do that because there's no rule involved.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yeah. I was about to say, why don't you get
- 2:51Speaker 1: like home assistant or something? Yeah, that would do that. Yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 1: you know. Hector sent us a note because he heard
- 2:56Speaker 1: the show last week and he actually wanted to know
- 2:59Speaker 1: why isn't Wise available in retail locations? Are they because
- 3:05Speaker 1: they hasn't been able to find them?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Well, there are some select home depots have WISE products.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Oh really? Now, oh that's kind of cool all right
- 3:13Speaker 1: the place, but they wouldn't think about getting smart tech
- 3:16Speaker 1: would be home depot. Actually, yeah, they've been you know what,
- 3:19Speaker 1: they've been pretty advanced. They've been pretty forward thinking in
- 3:22Speaker 1: that stuff, especially with the home thermostats. But I have
- 3:25Speaker 1: not been able to see I have not seen Wise
- 3:27Speaker 1: technology anywhere in retail. And that's I think what That's
- 3:31Speaker 1: what Hector was thinking about that you only had to
- 3:33Speaker 1: go online to be able to get it. But if
- 3:34Speaker 1: you can get it in retail, that's good.
- 3:36Speaker 3: You can.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I saw them at my local home depot here in
- 3:39Speaker 2: northern Indiana, and on their website, I can't. I can
- 3:44Speaker 2: get the Version three camera, the outdoor camera, the Version two,
- 3:49Speaker 2: the pan, the pan and tilt one, the WISE plugs,
- 3:52Speaker 2: the WISE light bulbs, not the color ones yet because
- 3:55Speaker 2: they're not super available still at the WISE lock, the
- 3:57Speaker 2: outdoor plug, the SPRINKLERK controller. I mean, it's all right
- 4:02Speaker 2: there on their website.
- 4:03Speaker 1: What about price? What about pricing though, because I'm wondering
- 4:06Speaker 1: are they the same deal? Because what you get when
- 4:08Speaker 1: you go online direct through why is it's pretty good.
- 4:10Speaker 2: The Version three outdoor camera is thirty eight bucks on
- 4:13Speaker 2: home Depot. It's about eight or nine bucks more.
- 4:16Speaker 1: No, that's well, I mean home Depot, yeah, exactly, Home
- 4:19Speaker 1: Deepo's got to make some money off it. Yeah, and
- 4:21Speaker 1: then but the nice thing about that way is if
- 4:23Speaker 1: you do have an issue with it, you could take
- 4:25Speaker 1: it back to home Depot. You don't have to worry
- 4:27Speaker 1: about shipping and sending it back in that way. So
- 4:29Speaker 1: that's going to be that's gonna be real nice. You know. Actually,
- 4:32Speaker 1: the verg you know you guys ever go to the Verge.
- 4:38Speaker 1: They did a really good article because a lot of people,
- 4:40Speaker 1: especially in the last year, let's face it, a lot
- 4:42Speaker 1: of people have been ordered online. And you order online
- 4:45Speaker 1: and sometimes you don't know what you're gonna get. Like
- 4:49Speaker 1: you might go, Okay, I'm gonna go ahead, take a chance.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I've seen this ad on Instagram. I'm gonna go ahead
- 4:54Speaker 1: and buy this. And then you order and what you
- 4:58Speaker 1: get sometimes either take it's way too long, sometimes it's
- 5:02Speaker 1: not the right color, not the right product, or sometimes
- 5:05Speaker 1: it never arrives. So the big question is what do
- 5:07Speaker 1: you do when this happens. You're not always protected depending
- 5:11Speaker 1: on who you've bought through, you know, PayPal. When you
- 5:15Speaker 1: buy through PayPal, you can get a guarantee, somewhat of
- 5:19Speaker 1: a guarantee, and again, how you pay for it when
- 5:22Speaker 1: you buy something else, you know, you never want to
- 5:24Speaker 1: use a debit card. Never, never, because you're gonna get
- 5:28Speaker 1: protected that way. But Verge had a really good article
- 5:31Speaker 1: about that which kind of played in well with a
- 5:34Speaker 1: product that I there's been two products. So I bought
- 5:36Speaker 1: a product. It was about two and a half months ago.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I'm online, I'm on. I want to say it was Instagram.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I saw it and it talked about this green screen
- 5:47Speaker 1: that you can put on the back of your chair
- 5:49Speaker 1: and it has the bel coast straps, it's around green screen.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It's fifty six inches and I thought, wow, look at that.
- 5:57Speaker 1: It's being advertised. You know, you look and you're thinking,
- 6:00Speaker 1: that looks like a cool product. And I go. I
- 6:03Speaker 1: clicked through and it's was thirty five dollars for this
- 6:06Speaker 1: green screen. I know the price has been a little
- 6:08Speaker 1: higher for those. Okay, So I ordered two. I'm gonna
- 6:12Speaker 1: get two. I get one for the studio and one
- 6:14Speaker 1: for my office. Right, and would you know, I finally
- 6:18Speaker 1: got it. Now I will say it is well done construction,
- 6:21Speaker 1: it's built well, it's got a great green fabric. It
- 6:25Speaker 1: is huge. It fits to the back of the chair.
- 6:28Speaker 1: But I only got one. I ordered two, So basically
- 6:31Speaker 1: I paid sixty nine dollars for one. Well, the company
- 6:35Speaker 1: is in China, of course, I didn't know that until
- 6:38Speaker 1: I placed that order a company. See did you get
- 6:42Speaker 1: it from Amazon? I didn't know. I went through a
- 6:46Speaker 1: link and I ordered it directly and paid through PayPal. Okay, yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 1: see that's that's a then of the reason why I
- 6:53Speaker 1: never buy anything except reputable sellers unless I buy it
- 6:58Speaker 1: from Amazon. And then when I do buy it from Amazon,
- 7:01Speaker 1: it says shipped and fulfilled by Amazon. Yeah, otherwise you
- 7:05Speaker 1: could be paying for something and then it's like, oh,
- 7:07Speaker 1: six weeks later. Here it is a month and a
- 7:09Speaker 1: half in where I had not received any information as
- 7:12Speaker 1: far as this product. I emailed them and I never
- 7:14Speaker 1: heard back from them. Suddenly one day I get this one,
- 7:18Speaker 1: this one green screen in about now. It's well constructed.
- 7:21Speaker 1: But then, so you figure I paid sixty nine bucks
- 7:23Speaker 1: for it, I'm probably not going to get a second one.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I know that nobody's going to follow through. I know
- 7:27Speaker 1: that's going to be the case. You use your credit
- 7:29Speaker 1: card to dispute it maybe I could. I don't know,
- 7:32Speaker 1: but as you could. I went online to BH Photo,
- 7:35Speaker 1: which if you've never been a BH photo video, some
- 7:37Speaker 1: great stuff on. There's a company named Bescor. They make
- 7:41Speaker 1: them fifty dollars, so they maybe they've fulfilled it from
- 7:46Speaker 1: them and you know, made nineteen bucks out. I don't know, maybe,
- 7:50Speaker 1: but I mean, seriously, if you pay with a credit card,
- 7:54Speaker 1: contact a credit card company, file a dispute, that's the
- 7:57Speaker 1: last you're going to hear of it, because what from there,
- 8:00Speaker 1: they're going to go after the retailer, and if the
- 8:01Speaker 1: retailer doesn't respond, well, then the credit card company just
- 8:06Speaker 1: takes care of it, and no matter what, no matter what,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you're going to get your sixty nine dollars back or
- 8:11Speaker 1: thirty nine dollars or whatever you claim, you'll get that
- 8:14Speaker 1: back immediately. But if the retailer comes back and tells
- 8:19Speaker 1: the credit card company, hey, no, we sent this blah
- 8:24Speaker 1: blah blah, then the credit card company will take back
- 8:27Speaker 1: the refund that they gave you, and then you'll go
- 8:29Speaker 1: into like arbitration. But normally, if it's something like that,
- 8:33Speaker 1: those companies never respond and it doesn't matter because they
- 8:36Speaker 1: still get their money. Who gets messed over is the
- 8:41Speaker 1: credit card company. Yeah, because they have insurance on it,
- 8:45Speaker 1: but they still pay you back yet they've already paid
- 8:48Speaker 1: the merchant. The merchant gets their money, you don't get
- 8:51Speaker 1: your product. The credit card company gets gets left holding
- 8:54Speaker 1: the bag. Did you see this one on Facebook and
- 8:59Speaker 1: Instagram a couple of weeks ago? It was ninety nine
- 9:03Speaker 1: dollars from a company called by Best. I think that
- 9:08Speaker 1: was it. I think it was by Best, and it
- 9:11Speaker 1: was for a fifteen inch HP laptop brand new in
- 9:18Speaker 1: the box. They had an overstock of him, so they
- 9:21Speaker 1: were selling him for ninety nine dollars. You said it
- 9:25Speaker 1: was called by Best. I think it was called by Best.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I saw, I saw that it was very similar from
- 9:30Speaker 1: from Zonoma. I didn't hear about that one. Emma, what
- 9:37Speaker 1: is that? Oh it took me a second I thinking
- 9:43Speaker 1: about it. He's like, what's that mean? Anyway? So it
- 9:48Speaker 1: was for I mean, this is a full on laptop,
- 9:51Speaker 1: you know, and it's a it's a double laptops. You
- 9:53Speaker 1: fuller over use it as a tablat ninety right, said
- 9:57Speaker 1: the edit overstock. Ah, I went ahead and pulled the trigger.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I do not know I did. I did I wanted
- 10:05Speaker 1: to see if this really if this is going to
- 10:08Speaker 1: be some kind of a scam or some kind of
- 10:10Speaker 1: a deal, and how this is going to work. I
- 10:12Speaker 1: screencapped everything, took photos just just so this kind of
- 10:17Speaker 1: an experiment on my part to throw away ninety nine bucks,
- 10:20Speaker 1: but to see, really is this going to be fulfilled?
- 10:23Speaker 1: And we'll see now what happens. But it doesn't come
- 10:25Speaker 1: in if you ordered it with your credit card, yes,
- 10:28Speaker 1: and it doesn't come in or it doesn't come in
- 10:30Speaker 1: as expected. And it was another one a dispute. It
- 10:33Speaker 1: was another one that directed through PayPal, so again so
- 10:37Speaker 1: but still you used your credit card, right, So then
- 10:40Speaker 1: in that case credit the credit card will go through
- 10:42Speaker 1: PayPal as the paintent processor. PayPal will then go after
- 10:46Speaker 1: you know, the merchant. But the worst case scenario what's
- 10:49Speaker 1: going to happen is that in the future, anybody that
- 10:54Speaker 1: tries to buy with that same credit card that you
- 10:57Speaker 1: used with this same company, the purchase will get declined immediately,
- 11:01Speaker 1: right because they're not willing to take any more chances
- 11:03Speaker 1: as a credit card company. Well yeah, it makes sense,
- 11:06Speaker 1: but still still was I was like, Okay, this has
- 11:09Speaker 1: got to be some kind of a scam. I got
- 11:11Speaker 1: to find out where this leads. So again a little
- 11:14Speaker 1: investigative reporting there. Did you get anything back in terms
- 11:16Speaker 1: of like shipping or no, it said we'll ship in
- 11:19Speaker 1: twenty days, So that'll the twentieth day will be about
- 11:23Speaker 1: right around the time you forget about it. I think
- 11:31Speaker 1: that's what they're hoping for right the time. We've done
- 11:34Speaker 1: some we've done some laboratory studies. It's about the twenty
- 11:38Speaker 1: day mark when you forget what you purchased, especially if
- 11:40Speaker 1: you purchase at like after ten pm right and then
- 11:44Speaker 1: or been drinking yeah or yeah, well or both, you know.
- 11:48Speaker 1: And then I was thinking, when you buy a technology
- 11:50Speaker 1: like this, how do you know what you're getting inside
- 11:53Speaker 1: that technology? Are you? Oh, you can accept this, but
- 11:56Speaker 1: we're going to be tracking every single thing that you're chasing, visiting,
- 12:01Speaker 1: et cetera. P much what all technology is nowadays? I mean,
- 12:06Speaker 1: think about why things are so cheap, you know, smart TVs.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Let's say they take smart TVs for instance, why do
- 12:12Speaker 1: you think you can buy a four K seventy five
- 12:15Speaker 1: inch TV for less than two thousand dollars. It's because
- 12:18Speaker 1: they track everything you do with that television and sell
- 12:23Speaker 1: it to advertisers. This is a proven fact. This is
- 12:26Speaker 1: how they make their money on the back end is
- 12:28Speaker 1: by tracking everything you do. Now, some people listening will go, oh,
- 12:32Speaker 1: come on, that's ridiculous. How try how they get improve it?
- 12:35Speaker 1: How are they going to be able to do it
- 12:36Speaker 1: with every single person and to know what they're watching.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I can prove it because when I got my smart TV,
- 12:42Speaker 1: I also have and I've mentioned this on other podcasts,
- 12:44Speaker 1: and yes, go ahead and queue up the laughter. But
- 12:47Speaker 1: I have a pie hole right, Yes, it's a Raspberry
- 12:51Speaker 1: Pie computer that runs a DNS forwarder. So everything that's
- 12:55Speaker 1: on my home network I forward to the raspberry Pie first,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and then if it's on its blacklist like things like
- 13:03Speaker 1: ad tracking, cookies, malware viruses, whatever, it will deny my
- 13:08Speaker 1: request to go to that website. It's actually shoving it
- 13:12Speaker 1: into like a room. It's a black hole. Yeah, it's
- 13:14Speaker 1: a black hole. Boo. I send it down to a
- 13:16Speaker 1: black hole and then you never hear you never hear
- 13:17Speaker 1: from it again. But I've been monitoring my pie hole
- 13:21Speaker 1: for a while and I see all the different DNS
- 13:24Speaker 1: requests that come through, and most of them are from
- 13:27Speaker 1: my computer. But then the moment. The day that I
- 13:30Speaker 1: hooked up my TV and I got it on my network,
- 13:33Speaker 1: the DNS requests skyrocketed tenfold, Wow, ten times the amount
- 13:40Speaker 1: of DNS requests. And when I looked into it, it
- 13:43Speaker 1: was all of the Samsung partners, and it wasn't even
- 13:46Speaker 1: just Samsung dot Com, you know whatever. They bought thousands
- 13:51Speaker 1: of domains that are just made up of random letters
- 13:54Speaker 1: and numbers, and they forward all of your statistics everything
- 13:58Speaker 1: you do, from how long did you you spend on
- 14:00Speaker 1: the home screen, which app did you choose, how long
- 14:04Speaker 1: did you spend on that app? How many times did
- 14:06Speaker 1: you skip the commercials? What were your volume settings? What
- 14:10Speaker 1: channels did you watch on local television? Everything you do,
- 14:14Speaker 1: they forward it onto these providers. Then they correlate this data. Now,
- 14:19Speaker 1: whether or not it's personally identifiable, that remains to be seen.
- 14:25Speaker 1: But they're tracking what you do, whether it be a
- 14:29Speaker 1: herd or just a single user, they are tracking everything
- 14:34Speaker 1: you do. So that's just one example. We've seen situations
- 14:37Speaker 1: where people have said that, you know, with the home
- 14:39Speaker 1: speakers in their homes, they will suddenly talk about needing
- 14:43Speaker 1: to buy, you know, a new sofa, a new share
- 14:46Speaker 1: and suddenly they're getting ants sped on their computers through
- 14:51Speaker 1: Facebook or on the social media for those type of devices.
- 14:55Speaker 1: This was This happened to me this last weekend, just Saturday.
- 14:59Speaker 1: We were walking through neighborhood and my neighbor pulls up
- 15:01Speaker 1: in a brand new Mercedes AMGS Class. I mean, I'm
- 15:08Speaker 1: talking top of the line, probably a good one hundred
- 15:10Speaker 1: and fifty thousand dollars car. Right, this thing is sweet.
- 15:14Speaker 1: And I said to him, and I pulled my phone
- 15:16Speaker 1: out and I got my camera open, and I said, dude,
- 15:19Speaker 1: that is a nice Mercedes, and I took a picture
- 15:22Speaker 1: of it. Not one hour later, I get one of
- 15:26Speaker 1: those Google surveys, because I have the Google Survey program
- 15:28Speaker 1: where you answer simple questions. You get like ten cents
- 15:31Speaker 1: for every question you answer. I get an ad that says,
- 15:34Speaker 1: are you interested in Mercedes Benz? What? Really? I said, no,
- 15:41Speaker 1: thank you for that ten cents. But no, that's some
- 15:45Speaker 1: scary thing is what tech is nowadays. All Right, So
- 15:49Speaker 1: you know we were talking about PayPal. You guys had
- 15:52Speaker 1: mentioned to me that Elon Musk that's how he made
- 15:55Speaker 1: his money. He was the guy behind PayPal pretty much
- 15:57Speaker 1: started that right yea out of PayPal and what else
- 16:01Speaker 1: did he found? Well, all sorts of stuff. Yeah, he
- 16:04Speaker 1: did a lot, but yeah, PayPal was where he initially
- 16:07Speaker 1: made his billions. I remember millions. When we were in
- 16:11Speaker 1: Palm Springs doing this show, his name started to you
- 16:14Speaker 1: would start to hear his name and it would always
- 16:16Speaker 1: be associated with something in the you know, Linux world,
- 16:20Speaker 1: you know, something along that line. It was something big
- 16:23Speaker 1: and grandiose that he was doing. And now you know,
- 16:26Speaker 1: he's made a statement this past week that had a
- 16:29Speaker 1: lot of people going, wait, wait, wait, what do you
- 16:31Speaker 1: say it? Because you know they've been talking about space travel,
- 16:34Speaker 1: they've been you know, they've we've seen this incredible success
- 16:37Speaker 1: with the launch. Did you guys see John Kraus's photos
- 16:40Speaker 1: this past Yes, well, amazing photos of the Crew two launch.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I've got a buddy that lives in Orlando, thirty miles
- 16:46Speaker 1: from the launch site. He got up at five am
- 16:49Speaker 1: or or whatever to watch it and he got to
- 16:51Speaker 1: see the rockets come down. He took pictures from his
- 16:53Speaker 1: back patio of the rockets launching and then coming back
- 16:56Speaker 1: down and thoy were just spectacular. Well, John did some
- 17:00Speaker 1: great photos on that. But either way, you know, it
- 17:02Speaker 1: was an Elon Musk thing with Crew two going up
- 17:04Speaker 1: there in the whole bit. And he made a statement
- 17:07Speaker 1: though about space travel because everybody's thinking, Oh, I want
- 17:11Speaker 1: to go to the Moon, They're already talking about that.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I want to go into orbit. I want to go
- 17:15Speaker 1: to Mars. But his comments but Mars have kind of
- 17:18Speaker 1: changed the way people are thinking. Yeah, according, I'm looking
- 17:22Speaker 1: at this right now. According to Popular Mechanics dot com,
- 17:24Speaker 1: they quoted him, yeah, he says, he says here, going
- 17:28Speaker 1: to Mars reads a lot like that ad for Shackleton
- 17:31Speaker 1: going to the Antarctic. You know, it's dangerous, it's uncomfortable,
- 17:34Speaker 1: it's a long journey. You might not come back alive,
- 17:37Speaker 1: but it's a glorious adventure and it will be an
- 17:39Speaker 1: amazing experience. You probably won't have any food or good food.
- 17:43Speaker 1: If an arduous and dangerous journey where you might not
- 17:46Speaker 1: come back alive, but it's a glorious adventure sounds appealing.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Mars is that place. That's the ad. That's the ad
- 17:52Speaker 1: for Mars. Honestly, a bunch of people will probably die
- 17:56Speaker 1: in the beginning. It's tough sledding over there. We're not
- 18:00Speaker 1: gonna make everyone go it's volunteers only. That's his exact quote.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Does that make you guys still want to go? Uh?
- 18:08Speaker 1: I'm good, I'm good. I'll let Elon go first. Yeah, Sean,
- 18:14Speaker 1: what do you think.
- 18:16Speaker 3: I would probably still go?
- 18:17Speaker 1: Really even with a premise of death. Well, you mean,
- 18:20Speaker 1: we all got to die at some point, but still
- 18:22Speaker 1: why accelerate it though if we don't have to? But
- 18:25Speaker 1: but then there's that also, that chance that you might
- 18:27Speaker 1: be the first person to ever walk on Mars on Mars, Yeah, exactly,
- 18:32Speaker 1: there you go. Yeah, they'll name a crater after you.
- 18:35Speaker 1: That's what I was in life, a crater named Maby.
- 18:37Speaker 3: I'll become a.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Well, okay, so you're becoming your own crater. And if
- 18:45Speaker 1: you look out your left window, you'll see the Shonda
- 18:47Speaker 1: Weird Crater. Well that's glorious. I wanted to show you
- 18:52Speaker 1: something that I picked up this past week. Now. Buddy
- 18:55Speaker 1: of mine, Buzz, who works in radio here in Tucson,
- 18:58Speaker 1: had told me about this, and I thought, you gotta
- 19:01Speaker 1: be kidnaped. It's a transistor radio, right, it's the ritechis
- 19:05Speaker 1: V one point fifteen. It has an antenna on it.
- 19:09Speaker 1: It's an AMFM radio U and so you think, okay, Well,
- 19:13Speaker 1: with this day and age of smart speakers where we
- 19:16Speaker 1: can just pull up, tune in and we can listen
- 19:18Speaker 1: to our favorite station, our local station, or even a
- 19:21Speaker 1: station out of town. You know, Sean's into getting into
- 19:26Speaker 1: shortwave radio, which is cool. This also has shortwave capabilities
- 19:29Speaker 1: on it for listening. It comes with the headphone jacket,
- 19:32Speaker 1: comes to the microphone jack. So with that microphone jack
- 19:37Speaker 1: and an SD it's got an SD slot on there.
- 19:39Speaker 1: A micro SD you can record audio if you wanted to,
- 19:42Speaker 1: Like just you suddenly have something you want to you
- 19:45Speaker 1: want to mention and record, you can do that with this.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Can you record what's coming over the airwaves? Yes, So
- 19:52Speaker 1: if you have a favorite radio station or a favorite
- 19:54Speaker 1: show or a song, you suddenly, oh that's the song
- 19:58Speaker 1: I want you hit record it'll work. Record it onto
- 20:00Speaker 1: the SD card, which is super cool, and that way
- 20:04Speaker 1: you can go back and listen to it. You could
- 20:06Speaker 1: take that as that micro SD card out, put it
- 20:08Speaker 1: into a reader and copy it to your PC. Now,
- 20:11Speaker 1: it only records up to one hundred and twenty eight,
- 20:13Speaker 1: so you don't get three twenty out of it. But
- 20:16Speaker 1: you know which is CD quality. But the quality is
- 20:18Speaker 1: still good. And also what I love about this and
- 20:22Speaker 1: I'll show you guys, is it has a rechargeable battery,
- 20:26Speaker 1: so wow, you don't have to go out and buy
- 20:29Speaker 1: you know, triple A batteries. Well can you use triple
- 20:32Speaker 1: as though? Like can you use real batteries in it?
- 20:34Speaker 1: Like if you're out in like the mountains or whatever. No,
- 20:36Speaker 1: it's rechargeable. It's one one thousand mili am battery. Okay,
- 20:40Speaker 1: so you're going to get some good life with that.
- 20:43Speaker 1: And the quality of the speaker is not too bad.
- 20:45Speaker 1: But that's what I love about it is you have
- 20:47Speaker 1: the ability to record your favorite radio stations, your favorite
- 20:51Speaker 1: radio shows, your songs. I remember doing that as a kid,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you know, hit and play record. One of my favorite
- 20:56Speaker 1: songs would play in the radio and I would get
- 20:58Speaker 1: angry because the DJ would TALKO, yep, something's there. And
- 21:01Speaker 1: now you're a DJ DJ and I do that. But
- 21:05Speaker 1: we're tack us now. When it first came out, it
- 21:07Speaker 1: was seventeen bucks for this. It's got a nice carrying handle,
- 21:11Speaker 1: the whole bit. But the popularity of this has gone
- 21:15Speaker 1: up and now they're about twenty five bucks on Amazon
- 21:18Speaker 1: and not too bad. Yeah, not too bad at all.
- 21:20Speaker 1: And again the sound quality is pretty good. The control's
- 21:23Speaker 1: a little difficult to figure out, but you will on
- 21:26Speaker 1: how to delete a file and you know how to
- 21:28Speaker 1: change stations. But the quality is really good. So I
- 21:32Speaker 1: like it cool, Yeah for that price.
- 21:34Speaker 3: So Andy, you brought that up.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I've actually been studying to get my Amazon radio license.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Now. Is that a difficult process?
- 21:40Speaker 3: Really, it's not as difficult as you would think. You
- 21:45Speaker 3: can go to the A the Amateur Radio Relay.
- 21:47Speaker 2: League al dot org and you can get some study
- 21:51Speaker 2: materials and stuff. It's a lot of basic electronics and
- 21:54Speaker 2: some radio theory and some safety and.
- 21:56Speaker 3: FCC guidelines stuff. But so far it's not that difficult.
- 22:00Speaker 2: But what you can do with the base level entry,
- 22:04Speaker 2: it's called the technicians level the your amateur radio license
- 22:09Speaker 2: is it gives you access to some of the u
- 22:11Speaker 2: HF and vhf frequencies that you can transmit and receive on.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Now anybody can listen.
- 22:17Speaker 2: That's That's a big thing they like to tell you,
- 22:19Speaker 2: is like there's nothing stopping you from buying a radio
- 22:21Speaker 2: and listen. Right, So, the amateur radios of something that
- 22:24Speaker 2: I've always wanted to do. I have a boofang u
- 22:28Speaker 2: V five R transceiver that they call them handy talkies.
- 22:31Speaker 2: It's and I just had some fun with it. I
- 22:33Speaker 2: followed a couple of tutorials online. There's some really great
- 22:36Speaker 2: uh HAM radio tutorials online YouTube channels that are really
- 22:40Speaker 2: really great.
- 22:41Speaker 1: What do you broadcast? If you're using shortwave short wave?
- 22:43Speaker 2: There's difference, right, shortwave you have you have short the
- 22:46Speaker 2: short wave band, you have the VHF bands, you have
- 22:49Speaker 2: the UHF bands, and those are the main three that
- 22:52Speaker 2: are amateur radio. I'm not super familiar with all of
- 22:55Speaker 2: the terminology in that yet.
- 22:57Speaker 3: I'm getting there.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Yeah, but with the radio that I have, I'll be
- 23:00Speaker 2: able to do the VHF and the UHF bands.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Now is it expensive to get into the radio that
- 23:06Speaker 1: I have?
- 23:06Speaker 3: Is thirty bucks on Amazon.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Oh that's not bad. That's not bad at all.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Now, granted they are the bottom of the barrel radios.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Now Bowfay's not a non name company. They're very popular.
- 23:18Speaker 2: But they're Chinese based.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Okay.
- 23:20Speaker 2: The restrictions and the sensitivities of the radio and the
- 23:23Speaker 2: frequencies in China are much different than they are here
- 23:25Speaker 2: in the US. It's not as expensive as you think
- 23:27Speaker 2: to get into it, especially.
- 23:29Speaker 3: If you just want if you see, if you just
- 23:30Speaker 3: want to listen.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Yeah, if our listener don't want to get involved in
- 23:32Speaker 1: something like that, they want probably want to check out
- 23:35Speaker 1: their local radio amateur radio club. I'm sure they have
- 23:38Speaker 1: one here in Green Valley as well.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Yeah. So there are a couple of websites I can
- 23:41Speaker 3: tell you.
- 23:42Speaker 2: There's one called Radio Repeater Book, which will give you
- 23:45Speaker 2: all the repeaters in your area, which is how you
- 23:47Speaker 2: can listen to things further away. VHF and UHF don't
- 23:50Speaker 2: go the signals don't go very far. Yeah, they go
- 23:53Speaker 2: a couple of miles and that's it. But they have
- 23:56Speaker 2: repeaters that will pick up your frequency rebroadcast it on
- 23:59Speaker 2: a offset that you listen to, so you're transmitting on
- 24:01Speaker 2: one frequency but listening on another, and then it can
- 24:04Speaker 2: get carried on further, further and further by other repeaters.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I have been listening here at home and have picked
- 24:09Speaker 2: up people in South Texas, Arizona.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Oh wow. Nice.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Based on based on the number of repeaters they're hitting,
- 24:17Speaker 2: there are challenges and there are contests based on how
- 24:20Speaker 2: far away you can get context from the number of
- 24:22Speaker 2: contexts you get in a short period of time that
- 24:24Speaker 2: type of stuff.
- 24:24Speaker 1: When you're listening to this stuff, are you scanning like
- 24:27Speaker 1: multiple frequencies or are you dialed into like one particular
- 24:30Speaker 1: frequency or what?
- 24:32Speaker 3: Yeah, so if you go to repeater book.
- 24:35Speaker 1: What about WebSDR dot org you.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Can go to that too. Radio Reference is the other
- 24:39Speaker 2: one I was looking for. Okay, so Radio Reference will
- 24:42Speaker 2: give me. It gives me all of the registered licensed
- 24:45Speaker 2: radio stations in my areas. I went through and there
- 24:48Speaker 2: is a program called Chirp. It's a radio programming software.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I paid for a license on Radio Reference. I paid
- 24:56Speaker 2: five ninety nine for a monthly license in I poured
- 25:00Speaker 2: all that into this CHIRP programmed into my radio.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Well, it sounds pretty cool. We'll put us on the
- 25:04Speaker 1: links up available on our blog and our website. We
- 25:07Speaker 1: do have to take a quick break. Brand new product
- 25:09Speaker 1: coming out for your for your tablet, if you got
- 25:12Speaker 1: yourself a Samsung tablet. I know Justin's gonna be into
- 25:15Speaker 1: this one. We'll be back with more of tech talk Radio.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean Weird, and I'm Justin. Let
- 25:21Speaker 1: me find us on the web at tech talk radio
- 25:22Speaker 1: dot com. We'll be right back and now back to
- 25:26Speaker 1: tech talk Radio.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Welcome back to tech talk Radio.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I'm Seon Weird, I'm Andy Taylor, and I'm Justin Lemme.
- 25:32Speaker 1: All right, so I know we know that Justin got
- 25:35Speaker 1: himself a brand new Samsung tablet a prize our listeners
- 25:40Speaker 1: at which one you purchase the Galaxy Tabt top of
- 25:43Speaker 1: the line. How you feeling with it? You only had
- 25:45Speaker 1: it for a couple of weeks out right, I love it.
- 25:46Speaker 1: It's great. I love it, absolutely love it. Now we
- 25:48Speaker 1: were talking, we were talking about the fact you wanted
- 25:50Speaker 1: to get a keyboard for it. Samsung's announced this past
- 25:53Speaker 1: week the Samsung Smart Keyboard Trio five hundred. Uh. It's
- 25:58Speaker 1: a smart keyboard for use with your smart phones or
- 26:01Speaker 1: your tablets. Some people have said, wait a minute, you
- 26:03Speaker 1: can use a keyboard with your smartphones. Why would you
- 26:06Speaker 1: do that? If you think about it, with the size
- 26:10Speaker 1: that our smartphones are now, it's actually would be better
- 26:14Speaker 1: if you had a little keyboard sitting in front of
- 26:16Speaker 1: your smartphone. Sure. I do like the Logitech K four eighty.
- 26:20Speaker 1: And if you're looking for a keyboard that is a
- 26:25Speaker 1: multi device Bluetooth wireless keyboard which gives you the ability
- 26:29Speaker 1: to pair up to three different devices and then I
- 26:32Speaker 1: mean pretty much you could switch between them. That's that
- 26:35Speaker 1: makes it pretty nice. And the K four eighty isn't
- 26:38Speaker 1: that expensive. Generally around thirty five to forty bucks, you're
- 26:42Speaker 1: going to be able to find it. But I really
- 26:43Speaker 1: do like the K four eighty and the other. The
- 26:45Speaker 1: other really nice thing about this keyboard too, the K
- 26:47Speaker 1: four eighty is that it has a groove at the
- 26:50Speaker 1: top of it, so if you've got you know, whether
- 26:53Speaker 1: it's a Galaxy device or an iPhone, you just put
- 26:55Speaker 1: it right there in the groove, so it's right in
- 26:57Speaker 1: front of you. So you're typing and typing with a
- 27:00Speaker 1: like a regular keyboard, but the Bluetooth is banking that connection.
- 27:03Speaker 1: But I like that little groove on top of it too.
- 27:05Speaker 1: But this this one from Samsung does pretty much the
- 27:08Speaker 1: same thing. It connects via Bluetooth and you can connect
- 27:12Speaker 1: up to three devices at the same time, and with
- 27:14Speaker 1: an easy click, you'll be able to switch back and
- 27:17Speaker 1: forth between those devices. Now, some laptops have Bluetooth capability,
- 27:22Speaker 1: I know my Lenovo does, so you can actually connect
- 27:26Speaker 1: a keyboard instead of using the on board keyboard. So
- 27:29Speaker 1: you're more mobile with it, so you can put your
- 27:31Speaker 1: keyboard back a little, your your laptop back a little,
- 27:34Speaker 1: and you can put this on your your lap and
- 27:36Speaker 1: type as you want to. You're looking for a keyboard,
- 27:40Speaker 1: and this will work with any device as Bluetooth capable,
- 27:43Speaker 1: whether you know, whichever tablet you have, doesn't have to
- 27:45Speaker 1: be a Samsung tablet. Just a kind of a nice
- 27:47Speaker 1: way to bring tech to your devices. Yeah, absolutely, are
- 27:51Speaker 1: you you're thinking about gaining one, aren't you? Ah, well,
- 27:53Speaker 1: you know I was. But the tablet keyboard cover is
- 27:59Speaker 1: like one hundred and fifty bucks at best, and it's
- 28:02Speaker 1: normally one hundred and ninety nine. And I honestly really
- 28:06Speaker 1: don't use the tablet for the keyboard functions, Like I've
- 28:09Speaker 1: got a laptop. If I need a laptop, I'll use
- 28:11Speaker 1: a laptop. I just want the tablet to be a tablet.
- 28:14Speaker 1: So I'm kind of kind of shining away from it now,
- 28:17Speaker 1: you know, I'm kind of I'm surprised because do you
- 28:19Speaker 1: remember when I bought the Leap how fifteen inch external monitor,
- 28:25Speaker 1: and I mean, I love it. I use it every day.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I plug it plugs via Hdmi into my laptop and
- 28:31Speaker 1: I've got a second monitor that I can use. I
- 28:34Speaker 1: paid one hundred and fifty nine dollars for it, you know,
- 28:37Speaker 1: I got it through Amazon, the company's leapout, but it
- 28:40Speaker 1: came with you know that same cover you're talking about.
- 28:44Speaker 1: It's magnetic. It helds it back and then it kind
- 28:46Speaker 1: of fits into a nice little groove.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Yep.
- 28:48Speaker 1: So you've got to stay I got that free with it,
- 28:50Speaker 1: and they're charging one hundred Samsum's charging that much for it.
- 28:54Speaker 1: It was uh seventy nine. I think this is crazy. Yeah,
- 28:59Speaker 1: that's it isy And honestly, I really don't like this
- 29:01Speaker 1: particular case all that much because I do find if
- 29:04Speaker 1: I'm if I'm using like one hand to try to
- 29:06Speaker 1: open up the whole you know, tablet, a lot of
- 29:10Speaker 1: times the tablet will slip off the magnetic back, and
- 29:14Speaker 1: then I'm like scrambling to you know, put my drink
- 29:17Speaker 1: down or whatever I have to so I don't drop
- 29:19Speaker 1: my thousand dollars tablet on the floor. I just pictured
- 29:22Speaker 1: Dean Martin with his cocktail. Yeah that's pretty much it. Yeah,
- 29:26Speaker 1: pretty much it. But yeah, so I mean it's a
- 29:29Speaker 1: it's a decent case, but I kind of would rather
- 29:31Speaker 1: have like the wrap around case. Yeah, I'll give you that.
- 29:34Speaker 1: The wrap around cases are much nicer and they're a
- 29:37Speaker 1: little easier to uh to kind of use with the
- 29:41Speaker 1: with the tablet, that would be, uh, that would be
- 29:44Speaker 1: a lot nicer. Yeah, but you're pretty you're you're happy
- 29:46Speaker 1: with that. I am happy with the tablet absolutely. I
- 29:49Speaker 1: think it's one of the greatest ones. I mean, honestly,
- 29:51Speaker 1: my opinion rivals the iPad Pro. Well, you know, speaking
- 29:54Speaker 1: of that, Sean, you had some info on some some
- 29:57Speaker 1: stuff from Apple that was announced.
- 29:59Speaker 2: So last a week, about a week ago, Apple announced
- 30:03Speaker 2: a couple of new products. They announced the new iMac,
- 30:06Speaker 2: the new iPad Pro, and the new iPad keyboard.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Oh, don't forget, don't forget the air tracker.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Also, they in tune the air trackers, which surprisingly were
- 30:19Speaker 2: relatively inexpensive.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Yeah, thirty dollars. Thirty dollars when you think about it,
- 30:23Speaker 1: that's where you're going to pay for the tile device.
- 30:25Speaker 1: And I know it's actually called the air tag, so
- 30:27Speaker 1: I want to at least give it the right name.
- 30:28Speaker 1: But it's supposed to be from what I understand, the
- 30:30Speaker 1: size of a junior Mint. I mean, that's how small
- 30:33Speaker 1: they are.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Yeah, they're not very big.
- 30:35Speaker 2: They're not very big, and you can get a set
- 30:38Speaker 2: of four for relatively inexpensive. I will probably get some
- 30:42Speaker 2: just to play around with them.
- 30:43Speaker 1: What about the battery life though, because I mean you
- 30:45Speaker 1: think about it, the smaller they get, the smaller the
- 30:47Speaker 1: battery is, which means the less life they have before
- 30:50Speaker 1: you have to replace the battery. If you remember the tiles,
- 30:52Speaker 1: when those first came out, they didn't have a replaceable battery,
- 30:55Speaker 1: so you had about a year, so you would buy
- 30:57Speaker 1: a tile for a year and then that is it.
- 31:00Speaker 1: I remember one year we got the kids, we got
- 31:03Speaker 1: them all tile devices and they're cool, you know, put
- 31:06Speaker 1: them on your your keychain ring and everything. But the
- 31:08Speaker 1: battery after a year was dead. That was it. Was it.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I remember that the following year we didn't get them
- 31:14Speaker 1: more tiles, and they were kind of disappointed. It's like, hey,
- 31:17Speaker 1: we thought we were going to replace our tile. Now
- 31:20Speaker 1: they do have replaceable batteries and the price went up
- 31:22Speaker 1: just a little bit, but either way, it's still I
- 31:25Speaker 1: don't know if you're gonna be able to replace the
- 31:27Speaker 1: battery in this or if it's going to be chargeable.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Maybe throwing them throwing them onto a magnetic charger like
- 31:32Speaker 1: you you know, like you have with your your iPhones. Okay,
- 31:36Speaker 1: that might be nice.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it's they're twenty nine bucks. You can buy them.
- 31:41Speaker 3: You can buy them already apparently.
- 31:42Speaker 1: But Sean, do you have any info on the specs
- 31:45Speaker 1: on the air tags? Like, do they are they rechargeable?
- 31:49Speaker 1: How does how does the battery work on this device?
- 31:52Speaker 3: It runs off a CR twenty two coin cell battery.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Oh cool? Oh so you will be able to change
- 31:58Speaker 1: them out? Yeah, twenty thirty two. Yeah, okay, those like
- 32:01Speaker 1: here basically here in eight batteries. Yeah, but no, no, no, no, nope, no, no.
- 32:05Speaker 3: There are CPU bios batteries.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah, larger than okay, so that's larger than a size
- 32:12Speaker 1: of a junior man. Oh okay, well I'm not sure
- 32:16Speaker 1: if there's such a thing, but sure, you know, yeah,
- 32:22Speaker 1: that's pretty cool. Now, these are going to use the
- 32:24Speaker 1: the Imax are using the M one process or not?
- 32:27Speaker 1: They're not going Intel in this one right?
- 32:30Speaker 3: Correct?
- 32:30Speaker 2: This is this is there is no Intel option for
- 32:33Speaker 2: these the new Imax and they are offering two different
- 32:38Speaker 2: versions from just from their Apple dot com website. They're
- 32:41Speaker 2: offering two different versions of them one chip, one with
- 32:46Speaker 2: seven cores and one with eight cores. So whatever the
- 32:49Speaker 2: differences between those two, I don't know. I haven't done
- 32:51Speaker 2: that much research into the M one chips. However, I
- 32:54Speaker 2: have had friends tell me that the difference between the
- 32:57Speaker 2: Intel processors and the M one scissors. The user experience
- 33:02Speaker 2: is significantly increased in terms of functionality and optimization for
- 33:08Speaker 2: the mac os infrastructure and architect architecture.
- 33:13Speaker 1: That's with the M one, so a better the ones.
- 33:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I had a friend of mine who had bought a
- 33:18Speaker 2: iMac with the latest I seven generation and then they
- 33:24Speaker 2: announced the M ones for cheaper. He went back to
- 33:27Speaker 2: Apple said I want to trade this in for the
- 33:29Speaker 2: cheaper one. They traded him, gave him the money back,
- 33:32Speaker 2: He got the cheaper one of the M one, and
- 33:33Speaker 2: he is way happier with the M one than he
- 33:36Speaker 2: was with the Intel, just based on his experience with
- 33:39Speaker 2: load times and user experience and stuff like that. So
- 33:43Speaker 2: I've heard great things. I don't know more than outside
- 33:48Speaker 2: of just some friends that have told me some stuff,
- 33:50Speaker 2: but so far it's been so good.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Now, when when it comes to the actual iPads that
- 33:55Speaker 1: they've announced, I know that they're gonna have a twelve
- 33:58Speaker 1: what a twelve and a half inch iPad or twelve
- 34:00Speaker 1: twelve point one inch I pad. The colors are what
- 34:03Speaker 1: everybody's been really happy about because you're gonna be able
- 34:06Speaker 1: to get a variance of colors. Rather than that traditional
- 34:09Speaker 1: black or steel, gray or white, You're gonna be able
- 34:12Speaker 1: to go with different ones.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:13Speaker 2: So the the Imax, you can get it looks like
- 34:17Speaker 2: seven different colors on the Imax.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Yeah, you can get blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange, purple.
- 34:26Speaker 1: And that is so worth the extra thousand dollars. He
- 34:32Speaker 1: is not an Apple fanboy, that's for sure. I mean, seriously,
- 34:37Speaker 1: this is what they do. They release things in various colors,
- 34:40Speaker 1: and they charge a premium for it. Like seriously, now,
- 34:44Speaker 1: what about I don't.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Think it's gonna cost you any different to get. Well,
- 34:49Speaker 2: So for twelve ninety nine, you can get four colors, right, blue, green, pink,
- 34:54Speaker 2: or silver.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Twelve ninety nine, yep, twelve, okay.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Then they have a fourteen option and a sixteen ninety
- 35:01Speaker 3: nine option.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Okay, options, you get three more color options.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Yeah. See, you pay a premium for the other color
- 35:10Speaker 1: options for twelve ninety nine I can build a computer.
- 35:13Speaker 1: It's a PC that would blow away that iMac. Yeah,
- 35:19Speaker 1: well yeah, pretty much. You're not wrong, but that's not wrong,
- 35:23Speaker 1: but you just I'm just saying a lot of a
- 35:25Speaker 1: lot of Apple Mac users will stable Apple Apple Mac forever.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I mean honestly, my first computer was an Apple two
- 35:32Speaker 1: E with a Z eighty card and I loved it.
- 35:35Speaker 1: It was great. But once I started, you know, playing
- 35:37Speaker 1: around with the Windows and an actual PC, we had
- 35:43Speaker 1: a Cyrix processor in it, you know, kind of stuck
- 35:46Speaker 1: with that.
- 35:47Speaker 2: The thing that really kind of irked me when I
- 35:50Speaker 2: when they announced the new Imax no USB A ports.
- 35:56Speaker 1: None see they and they say they're doing it and
- 35:59Speaker 1: what for recycling efforts or there's no reason. They kind
- 36:03Speaker 1: of did the same thing when they put out the
- 36:04Speaker 1: new iPhones where you didn't get a charger for it.
- 36:08Speaker 1: You wanted a charger, you could use your old one
- 36:10Speaker 1: or you would replace it, and you know, it just
- 36:13Speaker 1: it kind of irked a lot of people. So what
- 36:15Speaker 1: are they doing with this?
- 36:17Speaker 2: There are two USB C USB three ports right, so
- 36:21Speaker 2: they're USBC rated for USB three speeds and then two
- 36:25Speaker 2: Thunderbolt USB C rated for USB four speeds.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Wow, that's it.
- 36:32Speaker 1: That's all you can.
- 36:33Speaker 3: You have to buy a USB bridge or USB hub,
- 36:38Speaker 3: and now on my MacBook, I don't have those.
- 36:41Speaker 2: I have to use the hub Twitter and I can't
- 36:44Speaker 2: run more than two hard drives off of one one hub.
- 36:49Speaker 3: So it's frustrating.
- 36:51Speaker 2: When I want to run more than two drives, I
- 36:54Speaker 2: have to buy more than one USB adapter.
- 36:56Speaker 3: It's it's silly, but.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Well, let's to be fair though, the PC world has
- 37:01Speaker 1: done this as well. I mean I worked on a
- 37:05Speaker 1: Dell OptiPlex over the week and they're on the power supply.
- 37:09Speaker 1: There's only two power connectors. That's it. So you can
- 37:13Speaker 1: run a hard drive, you can run a DVD drive,
- 37:17Speaker 1: I mean, that's it, or two hard drives and one
- 37:20Speaker 1: of them died. To get the replacement power suppot, you
- 37:24Speaker 1: got to go through Dell because it's proprietary and the
- 37:26Speaker 1: way connects to the board, which is you know, the
- 37:28Speaker 1: Dell system. It just just the way that even even
- 37:31Speaker 1: PC manufacturers have done it. If you go back to
- 37:34Speaker 1: IBM when they were doing their PCs, all of them
- 37:37Speaker 1: did some kind of proprietary We got to take another
- 37:40Speaker 1: quick break. Actually, this has been a big subject for
- 37:43Speaker 1: Justin this past week wanting to make an upgrade and
- 37:46Speaker 1: trying to decide, now which way does he go? Sean,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you might be able to help out on this side.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I know I talked with him about it too, and
- 37:53Speaker 1: I was just as lost. So we'll take a break,
- 37:56Speaker 1: come back with more of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor,
- 37:59Speaker 1: I'm Seandward, and I'm Justin. Let me find us on Facebook,
- 38:02Speaker 1: Facebook dot com for slash tech Talkers. Will be right
- 38:05Speaker 1: back and now fact to tech talk Radio. Recently, well
- 38:10Speaker 1: not recently. You guys know, I have a secret Lab chair, ye,
- 38:13Speaker 1: and it's a great, great gaming chair. They're a little
- 38:16Speaker 1: bit more expensive. They're bub about about three three and
- 38:19Speaker 1: three fifty or so. But I treat my chair with
- 38:24Speaker 1: respect and I've noticed that I do. Actually yeah, but
- 38:28Speaker 1: I noticed that one of the left arm rest, on
- 38:30Speaker 1: the inside of the arm rest, the material is starting
- 38:35Speaker 1: to split. The rubber around it is starting to split
- 38:38Speaker 1: like it's been compressed, maybe just you know, putting weight
- 38:41Speaker 1: on it or whatever, but it's it's splitting. So I
- 38:44Speaker 1: contacted how long have you had that? About a year?
- 38:48Speaker 1: Actually a little over a year, because it was is
- 38:50Speaker 1: basically April of twenty twenty when I bought it, right, so, yeah,
- 38:54Speaker 1: so it's been a year. Yeah. So I contacted Secret
- 38:58Speaker 1: Labs and I said, hey, this is my sitch. I
- 39:00Speaker 1: took a picture of it. I sent it to him.
- 39:02Speaker 1: They came back and said, look, I'm sorry, this is
- 39:04Speaker 1: actually not under warranty because it's normal wear and tear. However, however,
- 39:11Speaker 1: we want to we want to make sure you're taken
- 39:13Speaker 1: care of. So send me your address and I'll send
- 39:16Speaker 1: you a new uh basically a new a new uh armrest.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Oh cool. Yeah, so that's that's awesome. I mean, even
- 39:23Speaker 1: though it's not covered under their standard warranty, sometimes they
- 39:28Speaker 1: will actually help you out. Sorry, that's a big shout
- 39:30Speaker 1: out to Secret Labs. You know, they've done a great job.
- 39:32Speaker 1: It's a great chair. If you guys are looking for
- 39:34Speaker 1: a new chair, I highly recommend checking out Secret Labs.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Really really good products. That's good customer service and you
- 39:40Speaker 1: know that's absolutely sells honest.
- 39:42Speaker 2: And I believe Amanda bought her husband the World of
- 39:44Speaker 2: Warcraft one.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Oh wow, oh wow. They make they do make. They
- 39:48Speaker 1: do make a lot of like custom ones too. You
- 39:50Speaker 1: can put your you can even pay a lot extra
- 39:53Speaker 1: and have your own logo put into the back of
- 39:55Speaker 1: the chair, leather stitched. Oh that wouldn't that be great
- 39:58Speaker 1: tech talk radio chairs? That would if you're willing to
- 40:01Speaker 1: spend five six hundred dollars, I would love that. Right now,
- 40:04Speaker 1: one of the chairs that I've got, I'm beginning to
- 40:06Speaker 1: feel it. Either that or I'm getting heavier, but I'm
- 40:09Speaker 1: beginning to feel it a little more in the seat.
- 40:11Speaker 1: And what people have told me about Secret Labs is
- 40:13Speaker 1: that they're just all out comfortable. And just to hear
- 40:17Speaker 1: that customer service, that's, uh, that's really cool to hear.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I like that. This past week, we you and I
- 40:24Speaker 1: had a discussion on the phone justin You're yeah, you're
- 40:27Speaker 1: in that that you want to upgrade. You've decided where
- 40:30Speaker 1: you will go. But now it's a matter of okay,
- 40:33Speaker 1: that big question AMD versus Intel. Well, yeah, I mean
- 40:38Speaker 1: here's the situation. I just upgraded my computer probably eight
- 40:41Speaker 1: months ago, right, but I went from an I seven
- 40:44Speaker 1: sixty seven hundred to an I seven eighty seven hundred
- 40:48Speaker 1: or eighty seven seventy to be exact, not realizing that
- 40:53Speaker 1: even then at that time last year, the eighty seven
- 40:56Speaker 1: hundred was way out of date. You know, they're they're
- 40:59Speaker 1: already releasing the Intel eleven thousand series. So I'm three
- 41:03Speaker 1: generations behind already, And so I'm thinking, gosh, you know,
- 41:08Speaker 1: and I got that extra bitcoin money. I'm thinking, well,
- 41:10Speaker 1: I want to upgrade. But you're right, like, what do
- 41:13Speaker 1: I do? Like, I've heard a lot recently about AMD,
- 41:18Speaker 1: and the AMD processors are just just right on the
- 41:23Speaker 1: heels of Intel, if not better in certain categories, and
- 41:27Speaker 1: their price point is cheaper than Intel. With Intel, you're
- 41:31Speaker 1: you're kind of paying for the name. So I started thinking, like,
- 41:35Speaker 1: do I really want to go and upgrade? First? Up,
- 41:37Speaker 1: I really need to upgrade. The whole situation is I
- 41:40Speaker 1: can't play flight simulator with VR. Like everybody talks about
- 41:44Speaker 1: how great VR is, and but they're all running you know,
- 41:47Speaker 1: the ten thousand or eleven thousand series of Intels, or
- 41:51Speaker 1: the Risin nine or the Risin sevens, and I'm sitting
- 41:54Speaker 1: here running an eighty seven hundred or eighty seven to seventy.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I just can't keep up. So part that problem, though,
- 42:00Speaker 1: my friend, is you're also you have to look at
- 42:02Speaker 1: the other bottlenecks that are within your system, and everybody
- 42:05Speaker 1: runs into a bottleneck, whether it's the the data transfer system,
- 42:09Speaker 1: the cooling system, you know it. Well, the speed of
- 42:13Speaker 1: your memory all adds up. Well, I've got DDR four
- 42:16Speaker 1: thirty two hundred thirty two thousand, so my memories is
- 42:19Speaker 1: definitely good on that. I got sixteen gigs of it,
- 42:22Speaker 1: So that's you know, suffice. I've got a water cooling
- 42:25Speaker 1: system on the CPU, brand new dual dual fan on
- 42:29Speaker 1: the CPU, so I don't think cooling is a problem.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I don't think rams a problem. Power I don't believe
- 42:35Speaker 1: is an issue either because I never have it shut off,
- 42:37Speaker 1: so my power supply is okay. I think it's being
- 42:40Speaker 1: bottlenecked by the motherboard and the processor. I know it's
- 42:43Speaker 1: not the graphics card because I see people that are
- 42:45Speaker 1: running a eleven thousand series with a ten series rtr
- 42:50Speaker 1: gt X. I have an RTX twenty eighty TI that's
- 42:53Speaker 1: a good WAG card, which is a great card. And
- 42:56Speaker 1: these guys are telling me they're running a ten seventy
- 42:58Speaker 1: and making this no problem. So why am I not
- 43:01Speaker 1: able to do it? But again my question goes, do
- 43:03Speaker 1: I go a MD or do I go Intel Man?
- 43:06Speaker 1: That's you know, that's like telling somebody, Well, I don't
- 43:08Speaker 1: know which car to get, you know, I get this accurate,
- 43:10Speaker 1: or do I get I go for Chevy. Yeah, you know,
- 43:13Speaker 1: it's and it's really kind of unfair because Intel has
- 43:17Speaker 1: been around for a long time. I love Intel. I
- 43:19Speaker 1: for a time, I started out with a m D processors,
- 43:23Speaker 1: but I think they they tend to make a MD
- 43:25Speaker 1: seem like a second rate, like a second rate, and
- 43:28Speaker 1: it's not. I think that's a marketing tactic by Intel
- 43:31Speaker 1: because the thing, let's be fair, let's be fair too,
- 43:35Speaker 1: or by users that swear and live and die by Intel,
- 43:38Speaker 1: And let's face it, it's marketing. Where marketing works. If
- 43:41Speaker 1: you you see ads featuring Intel, you see uh, you
- 43:46Speaker 1: know alienware features the Intel processor. You know they they're
- 43:50Speaker 1: doing a marketing plan with that. You rarely see a
- 43:53Speaker 1: m D advertising systems with the a m D processor.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Is that what it's gonna take or do they just
- 44:00Speaker 1: say no, we'll target those that are using a MD
- 44:04Speaker 1: and that's gonna work. Well, sure, it's the exact same
- 44:06Speaker 1: thing with Ford and Chevy. You know, you got your
- 44:09Speaker 1: Ford guys, you got your Chevy guys, and they're gonna
- 44:10Speaker 1: they're gonna go to bat and they're gonna fight to
- 44:12Speaker 1: the death over which one's better. But AMD has been
- 44:17Speaker 1: making some amazing progress over the last couple of years
- 44:20Speaker 1: and Intel has kind of been staggering a little bit.
- 44:24Speaker 1: They're not coming out with the greatest of things, so
- 44:27Speaker 1: this gives AMD a chance to catch up. And from
- 44:29Speaker 1: all I can tell, the riz In nine processor is
- 44:33Speaker 1: better than the eleven thousand series I nines. Well, we
- 44:37Speaker 1: heard a lot about it for gaming, for gaming, for
- 44:39Speaker 1: gaming because the more clock cycles the whole bit, the
- 44:42Speaker 1: more cores, the more clock cycles everything. And then to
- 44:45Speaker 1: compare Nvidia against AMD Radion, right the new Radion cards
- 44:52Speaker 1: are really looking good too, and they're a little bit
- 44:55Speaker 1: easier to find than the the the RTX thirty eighties,
- 45:00Speaker 1: thirty seventies, thirty nineties, whatever you have, because right now
- 45:03Speaker 1: everybody's buying his graphics cards for for for crypto mining bitcoin. Also,
- 45:08Speaker 1: there's a big semiconductor shortage, so the prices are going
- 45:11Speaker 1: up for everything, motherboards, CPUs, RAM because there's a semiconductor storage. Sean,
- 45:16Speaker 1: what do you.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Run depends I need to really, I am way way
- 45:22Speaker 2: way behind on upgrading.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Mind okay, never mind me Andy, So no, I'm like joking,
- 45:28Speaker 1: I'm like shying. I built I built MYSM. I built
- 45:31Speaker 1: my system in twenty fifteen, ok so, and I haven't
- 45:33Speaker 1: done any updates since then.
- 45:35Speaker 3: So mine is kind of a Franken Frankenstein build.
- 45:39Speaker 1: That.
- 45:40Speaker 3: So when when I bought Justin's ten to seventy from
- 45:44Speaker 3: him a year and a half ago, yeah, I had.
- 45:47Speaker 2: I had to upgrade my case because my case was
- 45:50Speaker 2: too small, didn't fit, so I graded the case. Well,
- 45:53Speaker 2: then I started looking at I had a couple other
- 45:54Speaker 2: machines that I had salvage. One of them had a
- 45:57Speaker 2: better motherboard at it, so I moved with the motherboard
- 45:59Speaker 2: in it had an I seven in it. Right now
- 46:01Speaker 2: I'm running don't laugh at me. I'm running an Intel
- 46:05Speaker 2: Core I seven thirty seven.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Seventy really a thirty so wow, okay, but you're able
- 46:14Speaker 1: to do what you need to do, right.
- 46:16Speaker 2: I have no issues with it. I'm able to play
- 46:18Speaker 2: flight simulator at medium weddings.
- 46:20Speaker 3: Do you know all my games?
- 46:22Speaker 1: Do you know what socket that that that thirty that
- 46:24Speaker 1: three thousand stores run fifty one eleven eleven, fifty five
- 46:29Speaker 1: fifty five. Okay, if I do end up upgrading, I'll
- 46:33Speaker 1: sell you my processor that I just bought six months ago.
- 46:37Speaker 1: If you want it, and hey, why not, I'll throw
- 46:38Speaker 1: them motherboard deal. You're gonna you're gonna say money there.
- 46:43Speaker 2: I just want to I just want to shout out
- 46:45Speaker 2: about there's a great program that I run called.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Cpu I d oh love that.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Yeah, And this is their CPU Z version and I
- 46:53Speaker 2: have the hardware version too.
- 46:54Speaker 3: But this if you're if.
- 46:56Speaker 2: You are looking to find a processor that works for
- 46:59Speaker 2: your motherboard or RAM that works downloaded from the CPUID website.
- 47:04Speaker 2: It'll give you all the information you need to go
- 47:06Speaker 2: online and get what you need to work with your machine.
- 47:09Speaker 1: I have. I have another one that I like to mention.
- 47:11Speaker 1: It's goes right along with CPU ID. It's called IDA
- 47:14Speaker 1: sixty four AI DA sixty four. I bought the extreme license,
- 47:20Speaker 1: so I think it was a one time fee of
- 47:21Speaker 1: fifty nine dollars. But it takes CPUID, which is free,
- 47:25Speaker 1: and CPID, don't get me wrong, gives you a lot
- 47:27Speaker 1: of good information. IDA sixty four takes that to an extreme,
- 47:32Speaker 1: and that's why they call it IDA sixty four Extreme.
- 47:34Speaker 1: I think it's like fifty nine dollars for the license,
- 47:36Speaker 1: but it gives you every detail about your PC. All right,
- 47:40Speaker 1: so big question for you justin though, depending on it
- 47:43Speaker 1: saves Hey you go with Intel, okay, manufacture motherboard which
- 47:47Speaker 1: ones will use? ASRock ASRock as right now? So now
- 47:51Speaker 1: ASRock is, from what I understand, a part of asues right, Yeah,
- 47:54Speaker 1: it's an it's kind of like a subsidiary. Yeah. I
- 47:56Speaker 1: guess the best way probably to explain it is ASRock
- 48:00Speaker 1: itself is a standalone company, right, and they kind of
- 48:03Speaker 1: spun off into a big group. They're part of a
- 48:06Speaker 1: big group which a SUS is also a part of.
- 48:09Speaker 1: So I guess that's how you could kind of put
- 48:11Speaker 1: it all together. Now ASRock is as ro O c K,
- 48:15Speaker 1: and then a SEUs is as US. Now, while a
- 48:18Speaker 1: SEUs makes laptops and believe desktops two, they also for
- 48:24Speaker 1: years have been making motherboards, great motherboards that I've used
- 48:27Speaker 1: in builds that I've done over the years. Why why
- 48:30Speaker 1: not stick with a SEUs? I think ASRock is more
- 48:33Speaker 1: designed for gamers. I think a SEUs was kind of
- 48:37Speaker 1: just trying to be kind of the overall overarching brand,
- 48:41Speaker 1: whereas ASRock was kind of like their gaming division. I
- 48:44Speaker 1: believe I could be wrong, right, but I think that
- 48:46Speaker 1: ASRock was, Yeah, Republic of Gamers, that's their their gaming division. Okay,
- 48:53Speaker 1: because I'm thinking I've got a one seventy A, and
- 48:55Speaker 1: I know I was thinking about upgrading, and when it
- 48:57Speaker 1: came to motherboards, I was looking at the four nine,
- 49:00Speaker 1: which is uh yeah, and that has you know, it
- 49:03Speaker 1: has the info for me to be able to run
- 49:05Speaker 1: the M two's and you know, and do it that way.
- 49:08Speaker 1: But then again I was thinking, okay, ROG has a
- 49:11Speaker 1: board out that's supposed to be also very good, and
- 49:14Speaker 1: would going to a gamer board for some of you
- 49:15Speaker 1: does graphics and desktop and video, would that be a
- 49:18Speaker 1: better way to go. Well, I mean, I guess if
- 49:20Speaker 1: you're trying to utilize for your whatever you're doing with
- 49:23Speaker 1: video and graphics, I guess if you're using the video
- 49:26Speaker 1: card for your graphics processing or audio processing, sure, yeah,
- 49:30Speaker 1: getting getting a gamer board because I believe it has
- 49:33Speaker 1: something to do with the front side bus, right that
- 49:36Speaker 1: increases the speeds along that and that's where the graphics
- 49:38Speaker 1: card sits. So yeah, I mean, if you're using that
- 49:41Speaker 1: for that and you can get the benefit, I'd say
- 49:43Speaker 1: go with a gamer board, all right. So to be
- 49:45Speaker 1: fair too, uh and you know, we're talking about as
- 49:48Speaker 1: Rock and of course as Who's. There are other manufacturers
- 49:52Speaker 1: of mother boards out there that all have some great benefits,
- 49:55Speaker 1: so just want to give them a mention. Uh, you've
- 49:57Speaker 1: got Gigabyte. Gigabyte's been around for a while. You've also
- 50:00Speaker 1: got MSI which is a pretty good sturdy board. You
- 50:04Speaker 1: got Intel boards as well, So again, just a couple
- 50:08Speaker 1: of other manufacturers too, and you can look these all
- 50:10Speaker 1: up and you know, find out which one is going
- 50:13Speaker 1: to work the best for you. Now, before we go
- 50:15Speaker 1: to break what I certainly mentioned Have I Been pooned?
- 50:19Speaker 1: If you have not checked out that website yet, it's
- 50:22Speaker 1: have I Been pwn d. You know, there's been a
- 50:26Speaker 1: new report of some harvesting of email addresses, and it's
- 50:29Speaker 1: a good way to find out if you're on these
- 50:32Speaker 1: lists which could fall into the hands of people that
- 50:35Speaker 1: want to try and scam and do all that stuff.
- 50:37Speaker 1: So make sure you check out have I Been Pawned?
- 50:40Speaker 1: That's p w n ed and see if your email
- 50:43Speaker 1: addresses in there. It's you know, it's safe to look
- 50:46Speaker 1: that up. You're not going to run into any problems
- 50:48Speaker 1: that way. We're going to take another quick break we'll
- 50:50Speaker 1: be back with a wrap up of tech talk Radio.
- 50:52Speaker 1: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm justin.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Let me send us a tweet at tech talk Radio.
- 50:58Speaker 1: We'll be right back and now fact to tech talk Radio. Hi,
- 51:01Speaker 1: this is Barbo. You're listening to tech talk Radio and
- 51:04Speaker 1: you're gonna learn a lot. So, you know, with spring
- 51:08Speaker 1: cleaning being here, the question has come up, how do
- 51:11Speaker 1: you clean your PC? Oh? Easy, I mean they don't
- 51:14Speaker 1: fit too well in the dishwasher. I was just gonna say,
- 51:17Speaker 1: take a big tub of water and just dunk it
- 51:19Speaker 1: in there. You don't want to do you guys?
- 51:21Speaker 3: You guys clean?
- 51:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, see, you know you don't want to
- 51:27Speaker 1: take it out back and hose it down. But especially
- 51:30Speaker 1: if you have a pressure washer, yeah, if you if
- 51:34Speaker 1: you don't do anything that we're recommending right there, Tech
- 51:38Speaker 1: talk Radio is not responsible for what you do to
- 51:39Speaker 1: your PC. But listen, if you have a dog, you
- 51:42Speaker 1: have you have cats, you have a beard, you live
- 51:45Speaker 1: with somebody that was formerly in zz top, you want
- 51:49Speaker 1: to think about cleaning your PC. And you know it's
- 51:52Speaker 1: it's not that difficult to do, but it is something
- 51:54Speaker 1: that you should do now, whether you take it into
- 51:57Speaker 1: you know, whether you carry it in somewhere where they're
- 51:59Speaker 1: going to it out for you, or you want to
- 52:01Speaker 1: try doing it yourself. There are some things you don't
- 52:04Speaker 1: want to do. Somebody once told me that they hit
- 52:07Speaker 1: their their PC with the wet drive AC and they
- 52:11Speaker 1: would go ahead and use the vacuum to get all
- 52:14Speaker 1: the dust out of the computer. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, not good.
- 52:16Speaker 1: The thing you electricity, uh huh, number one static. But
- 52:20Speaker 1: also you got jumpers that are fit over little connectors
- 52:23Speaker 1: that are inside on your motherboard, and you can actually
- 52:26Speaker 1: use the vacuum to pull those off and stop your
- 52:30Speaker 1: computer from working, and then trying to track them down
- 52:32Speaker 1: as to what they do with that. I mean, they're small,
- 52:34Speaker 1: little plastic connectors. That is one reason to certainly not
- 52:38Speaker 1: use a wet drive VAC inside your computer. The other
- 52:41Speaker 1: thing is some people say, well, I just shoot it
- 52:43Speaker 1: with the compressed air, which you know, some people say
- 52:46Speaker 1: it's good. The problem is if you hit a fan
- 52:48Speaker 1: that spins with compressed air and you're causing it to spin,
- 52:52Speaker 1: you can actually do some damage to the barings in
- 52:55Speaker 1: that fan. The system's not on when you're doing that,
- 52:58Speaker 1: So always recommended to do it when the computer's off.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Number one, and hold the fan to stop it from spinning.
- 53:05Speaker 1: You're gonna do that, but again, be careful of how
- 53:08Speaker 1: you're spraying that. Sometimes you get a little actual liquid,
- 53:11Speaker 1: you know, that comes out of that. That's one of
- 53:14Speaker 1: the things. I don't know any other tips. I mean,
- 53:16Speaker 1: I've seen I've seen some really scary stuff inside PCs,
- 53:20Speaker 1: especially a PC of a smoker that way really bad.
- 53:24Speaker 1: I mean, I guess the biggest tip i'd say is,
- 53:26Speaker 1: you know, get one of the get one of those
- 53:28Speaker 1: fine brush like you could even use like an artist
- 53:31Speaker 1: paint brush or whatever, or just like a keyboard brush.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Use it to kind of knock loose some of that
- 53:38Speaker 1: hard to reach stuff. But I always just use a
- 53:41Speaker 1: can of air. But again, like you said, you do
- 53:43Speaker 1: not want to turn that can of air upside down
- 53:45Speaker 1: because then you get the liquid it comes out, and
- 53:47Speaker 1: it can freeze those components and then it can break off.
- 53:51Speaker 1: So try to keep the can of air straight up.
- 53:54Speaker 1: But yeah, use a brush to kind of get it out,
- 53:57Speaker 1: I guess. Yeah. And if you're wiping down your keyboard,
- 53:59Speaker 1: make sure your computer's either off or the keyboards not connected. Yes,
- 54:03Speaker 1: I mean you you literally can you can put a
- 54:08Speaker 1: keyboard in the dishwasher. No, you can, you can, you can,
- 54:12Speaker 1: but don't do it. You Yeah, I would highly recommend
- 54:15Speaker 1: you don't do it, but you can do it. You
- 54:17Speaker 1: just gotta make sure it is bone dry before you
- 54:20Speaker 1: go to plug that thing back in. I spilled water.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Put it on the oven at three twenty for twenty
- 54:25Speaker 1: five minutes. Don't do that, please, all right? Actually, if
- 54:30Speaker 1: you go to PC Gamer's website pcgamer dot com, forward
- 54:33Speaker 1: slash spring Dash, clean dash your dash PC, you'll also
- 54:37Speaker 1: get some tips there that might might be helpful for you.
- 54:40Speaker 1: That wraps up this week's sech Talk Radio. Please don't
- 54:43Speaker 1: bake your keyboard. Don't listen anything I say. That's it
- 54:47Speaker 1: for me, Hedy Taylor, I'm justin. Let me have yourselves
- 54:52Speaker 1: a great week. We'll see you next time.
