• 0:06
SPEAKER_01: Um guys, thank you so much for listening to us here for the episode.
• 0:12
SPEAKER_01: Welcome to episode 151 of Project Geekology.
• 0:17
SPEAKER_01: I am one fourth of our hosts, uh, at least for the time being.
• 0:23
SPEAKER_01: Uh my name is Dakota.
• 0:24
SPEAKER_01: I'm joined as always with Anthony.
• 0:27
SPEAKER_03: And I don't know what to say this week.
• 0:30
SPEAKER_03: And I don't have anything witty to say, so I'm just gonna pass it on to our other hosts.
• 0:36
  SPEAKER_04: Rich.
• 0:37
SPEAKER_04: And I, as always, guys, I just want to start the show by uh just tipping our hat to our favorite sponsor out there, Voodoo Ranger, Juicy Hayes IPA.
• 0:46
  SPEAKER_04: Always delicious.
• 0:47
SPEAKER_04: And now moving straight along without any interruption to our fourth host this week.
• 0:52
SPEAKER_00: Hi, I'm Jen, and uh that is not our sponsor.
• 0:56
SPEAKER_00: We I think for legal reasons I have to say that.
• 0:59
SPEAKER_03: See, Jen's got our back.
• 1:01
SPEAKER_01: I actually don't even like Voodoo Ranger that much, so yeah.
• 1:05
SPEAKER_04: Okay, I just gotta say this, I'm not because of the endorsement, but I actually do like it.
• 1:09
SPEAKER_04: Like I'm just I'm just guys listen, if Voodoo Ranger, if you're listening, please.
• 1:14
SPEAKER_04: The these guys don't have to be involved in the promotion, okay?
• 1:17
  SPEAKER_04: I'm for it, okay?
• 1:18
  SPEAKER_04: I got you.
• 1:19
SPEAKER_01: Guys, for our 151st episode, we are completing our discussion of Twin Peaks.
• 1:26
SPEAKER_01: We have done three episodes of the original series.
• 1:30
SPEAKER_01: We did uh an episode of the first half of Twin Peaks the Return plus Fire Walk With Me, and now we are completing our discussion of the return and putting a cap on the Twin Peaks discussion.
• 1:45
SPEAKER_01: And there is a lot to talk about, but there's also very little to talk about at the same time.
• 1:50
SPEAKER_01: It's it's one of those where there's so much that happens, but not a lot happens at the same time, also, and we're gonna have to meander our way through our thoughts, our emotions, and our general feeling of bafflement as we close out Twin Peaks.
• 2:08
SPEAKER_01: But uh, before we do any of that, let's jump into what we've been up to for the past two weeks because we were away for a week.
• 2:16
SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna start with Rich.
• 2:18
SPEAKER_04: I've been uh trying to end things lately.
• 2:20
SPEAKER_04: Not and it's not that negative.
• 2:22
  SPEAKER_04: I uh I finished Outer Worlds 2.
• 2:25
SPEAKER_04: I really enjoyed uh beating that game.
• 2:27
SPEAKER_04: I finished uh Echoes of Wisdom.
• 2:29
  SPEAKER_04: I don't remember if I mentioned that recently.
• 2:31
SPEAKER_04: Uh baseball is essentially in its death throes because the new one is coming out in a couple weeks, so I'm pretty excited about that, and I've uh revisited one of my favorites.
• 2:42
SPEAKER_04: I can't ever stay away from Red Dead for too long, having a great old time, making believe I could shave my beard and grow it back in three days.
• 2:50
SPEAKER_04: So just uh kind of holding uh holding off uh in gaming world, just waiting for something new, still a little too scared to try my son's VR.
• 2:59
SPEAKER_04: Uh he's got the Assassin's Creed game, but uh I did get to order Assassin's Creed Shadows that he's really interested in playing, and uh he's been misbehaving a little bit lately, so it's gonna be arriving tomorrow, and I can hold it over his head that I can just take it myself and play it with PS5.
• 3:14
SPEAKER_04: I guess I'll update you guys next week if I goad my son into doing something wrong tomorrow so that I can take the game and uh get to play it for a few hours before he gets it.
• 3:24
SPEAKER_01: I too am scared of playing VR games.
• 3:27
SPEAKER_01: I'm more scared of the potential for harm that I can inflict on others while I have something blinding my eyes, you know?
• 3:34
SPEAKER_01: If I'm in a virtual world and I'm just swinging, I could knock someone out, I could destroy my TV, I could, you know, like kick my pet or something.
• 3:43
SPEAKER_01: I don't know what I would do with a VR headset on.
• 3:46
SPEAKER_01: And I'm very, very scared of that.
• 3:48
SPEAKER_04: He plays in the dark in the basement.
• 3:50
SPEAKER_04: It's like we have like a finished basement, but he kind of plays away from everything, and it's really weird because like he stands right by where the bathroom is, so I have to like go around him and he'll be like, he'll know that somebody's in the area, but it looks like Wolverine breaking out of uh the weapon exit facility because he's got the you know, he's the meta quest, so it looks like he's got the full headset on, and he's just like, Oh, dude, you know, how's everything going?
• 4:14
SPEAKER_04: He somehow hasn't hurt himself yet.
• 4:16
SPEAKER_01: So I think you would actually kind of look like like a like in a zombie movie where like they go into like an abandoned cave and it's like zombies that have no visual eyesight, but they can hear you, and they're just like, where's that coming from?
• 4:27
SPEAKER_01: Like, is that is that the general vibe?
• 4:29
SPEAKER_03: Yep, that's exactly the clickers from The Last of Us.
• 4:32
SPEAKER_04: But we don't have a pellet stove that he could trip over, so that might be a problem for you.
• 4:36
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, what do you so what have you been up to?
• 4:38
SPEAKER_04: Speaking of pellet stoves, Dakota.
• 4:40
SPEAKER_01: We installed a pellet stove at our place because it has been freezing and the electric bill has been insane.
• 4:48
SPEAKER_01: So, bit the bullet on that.
• 4:50
SPEAKER_01: I didn't pay for it, but I will pay for it in the long run.
• 4:53
SPEAKER_01: My the person we're renting from paid for it, but yeah.
• 4:57
SPEAKER_01: So why did you like go into that?
• 5:00
SPEAKER_01: Like just I don't know, just word vomit.
• 5:04
SPEAKER_01: I was asked about the pallet stove.
• 5:05
SPEAKER_01: It's working, it's nice, it's a little bit messy when I have to clean it up.
• 5:10
SPEAKER_01: Like I still have like black soot on my hands a little bit.
• 5:13
SPEAKER_00: Why are you saying bad things about the pellet stove that I've been advertising?
• 5:17
SPEAKER_00: Stop saying bad things about the pellet stove.
• 5:19
SPEAKER_01: We're not sponsored by pellet stoves.
• 5:21
SPEAKER_00: You can say stove is our sponsor.
• 5:23
SPEAKER_01: That's not even the company name.
• 5:25
  SPEAKER_01: That's just an object.
• 5:26
SPEAKER_01: That's like toothbrush is our sponsor.
• 5:28
SPEAKER_03: That's for um that's like wood like wood burning, right?
• 5:31
SPEAKER_03: Like it's like uh replacement for like a gas heater.
• 5:36
  SPEAKER_01: It's replacement for a gas heater.
• 5:38
SPEAKER_01: We have electric baseboard heaters currently, and now we have the pellet stove, which burns like it's almost like little like rabbit food pellets.
• 5:48
SPEAKER_01: Um like 40 pound bags, and it burns slowly and you don't really have to touch it for a whole day.
• 5:54
  SPEAKER_01: It's really nice.
• 5:55
  SPEAKER_03: That's cool.
• 5:56
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 5:56
SPEAKER_01: Other than that, we have been doing a bunch of little stuff.
• 6:00
SPEAKER_01: What have we been doing?
• 6:01
SPEAKER_00: Well, last night you put on a sound of music, which was quite nice.
• 6:05
  SPEAKER_00: I enjoyed that.
• 6:06
  SPEAKER_01: I did, yeah.
• 6:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was like falling asleep on the couch, and then I woke up to the sound of music, and I've had the Doray Mi song stuck in my head for like a day now.
• 6:18
SPEAKER_01: Not the Doray Mi song.
• 6:20
  SPEAKER_01: What about X-Files?
• 6:21
SPEAKER_01: We started watching X-Files today.
• 6:23
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I enjoyed that.
• 6:24
SPEAKER_01: That was I liked that first episode.
• 6:26
SPEAKER_01: It feels like the it feels like a kind of like a spiritual successor to Twin Peaks in a way.
• 6:32
SPEAKER_03: It seems like it, right?
• 6:33
SPEAKER_03: Like it like it when I was watching Twin Peaks, I was like, dude, for some reason I really want to watch X-Files.
• 6:41
SPEAKER_00: It's like it's like Twin Peaks, but it's not as scary.
• 6:46
SPEAKER_01: Well, we've literally only watched one episode, so you literally you can't say that because the first episode of Twin Peaks is a very good thing.
• 6:50
SPEAKER_00: Does it get scary, Anthony?
• 6:52
  SPEAKER_02: Um, I mean, I've I haven't gotten too deep into it.
• 6:56
SPEAKER_01: So But there are scary parts in it.
• 6:59
  SPEAKER_01: So it's it's but I don't know.
• 7:03
  SPEAKER_01: I said I don't know.
• 7:03
  SPEAKER_01: I didn't watch it.
• 7:05
SPEAKER_00: You just said that what else he wants me to have nightmares.
• 7:08
SPEAKER_01: The fourth Harry Potter full cast audiobook came out recently.
• 7:13
  SPEAKER_03: Oh, I saw that.
• 7:14
  SPEAKER_01: That's fun.
• 7:16
SPEAKER_01: One qualm that I have, the voice actors because they they age up all the kids after third year, going into fourth year, with a new actor.
• 7:26
SPEAKER_01: And the actors that they chose for Ron and Harry have very similar like voices.
• 7:32
SPEAKER_01: So I'm having a hard time like picking them apart, which is like the most frustrating thing ever.
• 7:38
SPEAKER_01: But everything else is fantastic, but anyway, smoke I I'm I haven't listened to enough of it to really make that call that they're like way too similar, but like just the the chapter or two that I have listened to, I was just like, I'm having a hard time determining if that's a hairy line or that's a wrong line.
• 7:53
SPEAKER_01: So that's that's kind of an annoying thing about that.
• 7:56
SPEAKER_01: And Rich is just shaking his head like, You fools, just listen to the Jim Dale.
• 8:03
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't I was I was being polite, I didn't say anything, I was just saying quietly, but um I love my man Jim Dale.
• 8:11
SPEAKER_04: I love I did, you know, I will say that like randomly.
• 8:14
SPEAKER_04: I I've talked I've spoken about this earlier, but I love when a movie's on TV, even though I could just go to Disney or whatever channel it is and watch it without commercials.
• 8:23
SPEAKER_04: There's something nostalgic about like a commercial in the middle so I can go to the bathroom or something.
• 8:28
SPEAKER_04: And uh there I think it was like sci-fi or something was playing like all the Harry Potter movies like just all day long this weekend, and I found myself watching like four of them.
• 8:38
  SPEAKER_04: That's awesome.
• 8:40
  SPEAKER_04: That's a good time.
• 8:41
  SPEAKER_01: What else?
• 8:41
SPEAKER_01: Uh I started my project that I teased a couple weeks back, long left the timeline.
• 8:46
SPEAKER_01: I I know you guys have seen me post on either Twitter or Instagram or TikTok and YouTube.
• 8:53
SPEAKER_01: But yeah, it's it's fun so far.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_01: I have I think released seven videos as of today, and they're short, they're sweet, they're they're less than a minute long, but it's kind of just uh a fun little like this happened in these years on this date, you know, like in in fictional history, and it's kind of hard to uh draw the line of like what I consider fictional sometimes, because like I'm watching Sound of Music last night, and and there's no dates in it, but you know, like if I really wanted to, I could look up what really happened to the Von Trapp family, and I know that this is mostly fictional retelling of their lives, but it's based on reality, so it's not it's not really fiction, but at the same time I have stuff like the bombing of Hiroshima, which is definitely in my timeline because of its impact on stuff like the Godzilla franchise or you know other things like that, the the Trinity Explosion features in Twin Peaks of Return that is obviously gonna end up on my long level timeline.
• 9:59
SPEAKER_01: So it's kind of it's a it's a fine line of like okay, I consider this a reasonable thing to put into my timeline notes because it's impacting fiction, you know?
• 10:10
SPEAKER_00: So you can do wing JFK got shot because of that show with James Franco.
• 10:13
  SPEAKER_01: That I can, yeah.
• 10:15
SPEAKER_04: Um and really more importantly, Magneto, who was the actual reason that JFK died.
• 10:20
SPEAKER_04: So let's just clear let's just clarify that.
• 10:22
  SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
• 10:23
  SPEAKER_00: It wasn't James Franco.
• 10:25
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 10:25
SPEAKER_01: There there was a bunch of actually dates from I think you can use those, man.
• 10:30
SPEAKER_04: I I think that if it when a story is written and the author or writer or whatever uses a actual event that happened, that's just a way to ground it in our reality so that we attach to it more.
• 10:45
SPEAKER_04: But I I think that it becomes part of the story.
• 10:48
SPEAKER_04: Like now it's a central part of that story is the time it's happening.
• 10:52
  SPEAKER_04: Like Devon Traps.
• 10:54
SPEAKER_04: We all know, you know, there weren't great things going on.
• 10:57
SPEAKER_04: Like it's why they got out of Dodge, you know.
• 10:59
SPEAKER_00: Like I did they put any dates in that?
• 11:02
SPEAKER_01: Like, did you get no, there's no dates in it, but you can make inferences, like they have the festival at the end where they all sing that's a real thing that happened, but they didn't have to like hike over a mountain to escape Austria at that time.
• 11:16
SPEAKER_01: They just took a train to Italy.
• 11:18
SPEAKER_01: You know, like there's things that they took liberties with in the plot that kind of make it fictional, but it's still based on a true story.
• 11:26
SPEAKER_00: So anyway, I guess kids are good at singing.
• 11:29
SPEAKER_01: They were actually like a singing family in real life.
• 11:31
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 11:32
SPEAKER_01: I don't know if they were singing Dore Me, but yeah.
• 11:34
  SPEAKER_01: What else?
• 11:34
SPEAKER_01: Is that I think that's all we have to say, really.
• 11:36
  SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm excited about what I'm saying.
• 11:37
SPEAKER_00: Did Anthony Anthony didn't go yet?
• 11:39
  SPEAKER_01: I'm that's me, me and you.
• 11:40
  SPEAKER_01: Me and you.
• 11:41
  SPEAKER_01: And Anthony, of course.
• 11:43
  SPEAKER_03: Alrighty.
• 11:44
SPEAKER_03: I just want to apologize for like the first ten minutes of me talking.
• 11:49
SPEAKER_03: For some reason, my like microphone was set to my laptop mic, so I had to like change it so the audio is definitely going to change a little bit in to the card.
• 12:00
  SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't think I noticed it.
• 12:02
SPEAKER_03: At least Oh well, it's because I used the I used the microphone for the laptop for Zoom and then I use Oh, okay.
• 12:12
SPEAKER_03: The last time that I had, I used the same mic for both.
• 12:16
SPEAKER_03: It uh I don't it there was some like weird auto leveling going on, so I was just like, I'm not gonna do that again.
• 12:22
SPEAKER_03: But so what have I been up to?
• 12:25
SPEAKER_01: What have you been up to?
• 12:26
  SPEAKER_03: We are back, man.
• 12:28
  SPEAKER_03: Overwatch is back.
• 12:29
SPEAKER_03: Did you see Jetpack Cat?
• 12:32
  SPEAKER_01: I saw Jetpack Cat.
• 12:34
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 12:36
SPEAKER_03: They actually, so yesterday or yesterday with the Jetpack Cat Yesterday, as of recording, they dropped five new heroes.
• 12:43
SPEAKER_03: Um they dropped a tank, two DPS, and then two support characters.
• 12:48
SPEAKER_01: Have they ever done more than one at a time?
• 12:50
SPEAKER_03: The only other time that they dropped more than one was when they released Overwatch 2, and that was only three.
• 12:57
SPEAKER_03: The most of the like they they've only dropped that many heroes all at once when the game came out back in 2016.
• 13:05
SPEAKER_03: So like that's the only time that they've dropped a lot of characters all at once, and obviously that's just that was the initial roster.
• 13:12
SPEAKER_03: That's the initial launch, yeah.
• 13:13
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, exactly.
• 13:14
  SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
• 13:14
SPEAKER_03: So yeah, no, actually, that there was a lot that they did.
• 13:18
SPEAKER_03: They actually dropped the two on Overwatch 2, and it's just Overwatch.
• 13:23
SPEAKER_03: So they like they brought it back.
• 13:25
SPEAKER_03: It makes sense though, like it never made sense.
• 13:27
SPEAKER_01: Because it never really was Overwatch 2, like, exactly.
• 13:30
SPEAKER_03: Like they had scrapped those initial plans, and one I feel like when they scrapped those plans, they should have just been like, hey, look, this is what's happening.
• 13:40
  SPEAKER_03: It was too ambitious.
• 13:42
SPEAKER_03: Where you know, we were gonna do Overwatch 2, but look, we're gonna keep it Overwatch, but here is how we're gonna revamp it, you know, and then you know that essentially what they did with Overwatch 2 was kind of like an expansion.
• 13:56
SPEAKER_03: I mean, you don't see World of Warcraft 2 or League of Legends 2 or or Valorant 2, you know, it's a live service, there's no Fortnite 2.
• 14:06
SPEAKER_03: You know, there's it's just it was unnecessary, but they have a they really did like a really big like revamp, and you know, they're they're trying to like lean into the lore a little bit more.
• 14:17
  SPEAKER_03: They dropped a cinematic.
• 14:19
SPEAKER_03: There, yeah, there was a lot.
• 14:21
SPEAKER_03: I really am happy that Marvel Rivals came out because it forced Blizzard, you know, it put them on the fence, and like, you know, you need that healthy competition.
• 14:32
  SPEAKER_03: You really, really do.
• 14:34
SPEAKER_01: Because, yeah, wow, I love that.
• 14:36
SPEAKER_03: You know, it's like competition begets innovation, and then now look, you see how big Overwatch, you know, they're doing their thing.
• 14:43
SPEAKER_03: Now Rivals, you know, rivals that they they've been doing their thing, but now it's gotta be next level.
• 14:49
SPEAKER_03: What do they gotta do?
• 14:50
SPEAKER_03: Honestly, to tell you the truth, the way that to knock it out of the puck for me with Marvel Rivals is optimization because the optimization is still like a little bit lacking, you know.
• 15:01
SPEAKER_03: It's you can play Overwatch on on literally on a calculator.
• 15:06
SPEAKER_03: We need to be able to to get close to that with Marvel Rivals, at least with like lower tier laptops, there shouldn't be as much stuttering, you know what I mean?
• 15:16
SPEAKER_03: It especially since the game is not it's not even like a highly detailed game.
• 15:21
SPEAKER_03: You guys played it, it's semi-cell shaded in a way, so it's it's the graphics aren't too insane, but so you know, I've been I've been up on that, obviously, still doing my my World of Warcraft.
• 15:36
SPEAKER_03: I did this weekend go see that movie that um Markiplier he self-funded and and came out with Iron Lung, which is a video game adaptation.
• 15:49
SPEAKER_03: Oh it's pretty much the same thing.
• 15:51
SPEAKER_03: You know, I know that you know it's been a little touch and go, but as far as like reception, but I enjoyed it, I thought it was pretty cool, and I think I had a bit more of an appreciation because you know it was self-funded, and you know, you can kind of tell that it was like a passion project, and it wasn't like I was watching a YouTube movie, it felt the you know, the production quality was really good, and it looked good it to me, it looked good.
• 16:18
SPEAKER_01: Considering it cost only three million to make, which is peanuts to movies like nowadays.
• 16:24
  SPEAKER_03: Right, right, yeah.
• 16:26
SPEAKER_01: It's rare for any movie to have less than 10 million, even that's even like rom-coms, you know, like it's just kind of unheard of like how low it was budgeted for, but yeah, I'm glad that it's doing well and it's definitely made its money back.
• 16:39
  SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
• 16:41
SPEAKER_03: You know, it it's kind of like a single room.
• 16:44
SPEAKER_03: You know how that movie, the was it the M.
• 16:47
SPEAKER_03: Night Shamalan movie, like most of it was in an elevator uh devil?
• 16:53
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 16:54
SPEAKER_03: So it was it's almost kind of like that, you know, where he's in a sub.
• 16:59
SPEAKER_03: There's a few moments where you kind of see outside of the sub, but not really not much, you know.
• 17:07
SPEAKER_03: There's there's he's mostly the only you only see like maybe two other people.
• 17:13
SPEAKER_01: Is Mark a player in it?
• 17:14
SPEAKER_03: Or he's the main guy.
• 17:16
  SPEAKER_01: Oh well.
• 17:17
SPEAKER_03: So I mean he does a good job.
• 17:18
SPEAKER_03: Like I it it's really I think he he does a good job at at um you know at acting his character out.
• 17:26
SPEAKER_03: It's interesting, like for me, the the world in Iron Lung, it's it's like a post-apocalyptic kind of space story where uh he's like on a on a moon after something called the Quiet Rapture and like a bunch of like people and stars kind of like disappeared.
• 17:45
SPEAKER_01: And sounds like sounds like Twin Peaks.
• 17:48
SPEAKER_03: Oh my yeah, for real.
• 17:49
SPEAKER_01: And then um, whenever Twin Peaks comes up, is just it's pure vitriol.
• 17:56
SPEAKER_03: It it uh but yeah, so he has to go down into this like ocean called a it's like a literal like blood ocean.
• 18:05
SPEAKER_03: And yeah, like I mean that that's pretty much and you you he can't see out of the there's like a porthole, but he has to keep that porthole closed.
• 18:14
SPEAKER_03: So the only way for him to see out is by using this camera, but the camera only takes X-ray it only takes X-ray photos to be able to see through like all the blood.
• 18:28
  SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
• 18:28
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well don't tell us the whole story.
• 18:30
SPEAKER_01: Don't tell us the whole story.
• 18:31
SPEAKER_03: No, no, no, yeah, I'm not gonna tell you the whole story, but because uh I think you and Rich are covering that next week, right?
• 18:36
SPEAKER_03: I mean it it's up to Rich.
• 18:38
SPEAKER_03: I mean, if he wants to, if he wants to cover something else, I I'd I'd be down.
• 18:42
SPEAKER_04: I just have to find out if Jack Sparrow is around to possibly get me along on that journey, but if not, we can discuss later other options.
• 18:55
SPEAKER_01: I'm sure Jack Sparrow's uh willing to help in that regard.
• 19:00
SPEAKER_01: The the reason Jen and I won't be doing that is because we are going to be away next week, so it'll be a week without the dulcet tones of these two fine folks.
• 19:12
SPEAKER_01: But you will, you know, commentary of our other hosts uh as they talk about Iron Lung.
• 19:17
  SPEAKER_04: Or MLB Preview 2026.
• 19:21
SPEAKER_04: Rich and Anthony discuss who is the real giant.
• 19:26
SPEAKER_01: Anthony's gonna find a way to like take Rich out from across the country.
• 19:31
  SPEAKER_04: Uh Marlins vs.
• 19:33
SPEAKER_04: Mets next week here on Project Geekology, episode 152.
• 19:38
SPEAKER_03: I'm calling in the coordinates right now.
• 19:40
SPEAKER_01: The coordinates that you found on uh Dakota.
• 19:44
  SPEAKER_03: You know what?
• 19:44
SPEAKER_03: I know how I'm gonna travel there.
• 19:46
SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna travel via electrical socket, like your boy uh Dale Cooper did in the first part of the season.
• 19:54
SPEAKER_01: And you know, like I think it's a fantastic segue.
• 19:59
SPEAKER_01: Let's jump into Twin Peaks, and I think this won't just be a discussion of the return, but Twin Peaks as a whole.
• 20:06
SPEAKER_01: Uh you know, it just kind of feels right to talk about it as a completed project because it does feel complete at the end.
• 20:13
SPEAKER_05: It feels like I know they came together.
• 20:18
  SPEAKER_04: You're not doing that.
• 20:19
SPEAKER_04: You're not doing it literally ends us off, and I felt more confused than ever.
• 20:28
SPEAKER_04: There are no more answers.
• 20:30
  SPEAKER_04: David Lutch is dead.
• 20:31
SPEAKER_04: I somehow came across eBay listings of property, but I was too late to buy anything, so I was in a surprise.
• 20:38
SPEAKER_04: Oh, you actually saw that I was in a surprise, you guys.
• 20:40
SPEAKER_04: I I saw something and I was like, what?
• 20:42
SPEAKER_04: I went to eBay and there were like a couple of items for like$500, and I said, honestly, I love you guys as podcast hosts, but I don't love you enough to spend$500 on David Lynch's like the stuff that's items.
• 20:54
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 20:54
  SPEAKER_03: Oh, the estates.
• 20:55
SPEAKER_04: I don't know what kind of crazy save.
• 20:57
SPEAKER_04: What closure are you guys talking about?
• 20:58
SPEAKER_04: There's no it just it just gives us like a terminator two end.
• 21:02
  SPEAKER_04: I don't even understand butterfly effect?
• 21:04
  SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
• 21:06
SPEAKER_03: I started laughing when it ended because I was like, oh man, David Lynch would end it like the way he ended it in the um the original series, just open-ended.
• 21:19
  SPEAKER_01: Just completely open-ended, yeah.
• 21:21
SPEAKER_04: One thing that this was worse than Stranger Things episode 14, like of the final season.
• 21:26
  SPEAKER_01: 14, yeah, like 14's not great.
• 21:30
SPEAKER_04: I'm hoping 15 gets a lot better, but sorry.
• 21:32
SPEAKER_04: I think Rich, are you directing these episodes and then just like Yeah, actually, um fun fact my son is trying to style his hair after Dustin.
• 21:41
SPEAKER_04: So uh I already got Dustin here, so we've just been shooting all the episodes.
• 21:44
  SPEAKER_04: It's great.
• 21:45
SPEAKER_01: It's kind of cool that Dustin is the character that like people love the most after all of these years, you know.
• 21:52
SPEAKER_01: Like he's he's kind of like the he was always the underdog in the friendship, you know, the the one who is the least conventionally attractive.
• 22:00
SPEAKER_01: but somehow is the has the best personality of the lot, you know?
• 22:04
SPEAKER_01: I love this is not a Stranger Things discussion.
• 22:06
  SPEAKER_01: Let's chat back.
• 22:07
SPEAKER_01: I want to talk about how I felt throughout the return.
• 22:12
SPEAKER_01: Because I kept coming to the same conclusion that like David Lynch doesn't want us to feel David Lynch and Mark Frost don't want us to feel that nostalgia is worth revisiting.
• 22:25
SPEAKER_01: And they they like going back isn't going to bring your memories back.
• 22:31
SPEAKER_01: You know you're you're chasing the feeling that you had from the original series but they're not going to give it to you.
• 22:37
SPEAKER_01: They're going to like implode all of those storylines except for the Norma plot line.
• 22:43
SPEAKER_01: They they they finally gave Norma and Ed like the the happy ending that they they've been looking for for 50 years.
• 22:50
SPEAKER_00: But the fact that it took them so long to get together is crazy.
• 22:54
SPEAKER_01: That was a nice ending there I felt for at least those characters.
• 22:59
SPEAKER_01: But yeah I think for the most part like the theme is going back home to a home that no longer exists.
• 23:06
SPEAKER_04: It's sweet that the two characters that have been like openly like having an affair with a marriage while this guy's been married like it's sweet that they finally got together.
• 23:15
SPEAKER_04: Oh you know what like it's great that like this whole time like his wife loses her mind like he shoots her in the eye with his freaking buckshot like oh and she gets dick chainied and and we're just like oh it's so great that Norma and Ed got together like bro Ed, stop cheating on your wife.
• 23:34
SPEAKER_00: You've been cheating on her for 25 years well I thought we were supposed to like be under the conclusion for the past 25 years he was not cheating on us.
• 23:42
SPEAKER_00: Yeah I think I think they actually were just friends.
• 23:45
SPEAKER_04: Okay so then he's been clearance from his pining for I actually think that's worse than actively doing it.
• 23:53
  SPEAKER_04: Right?
• 23:53
SPEAKER_04: Because like he's not even getting anything out of it.
• 23:56
SPEAKER_03: He's just been hanging on to this like he's married to his wife and he's like yeah you're here but like maybe if there's a will there's a way I can be with Norma like what I like how N Nadine walks super far with like a golden shovel.
• 24:12
SPEAKER_03: Why can't you just drive everyone drives in that to let him know like hey I'm a let you know go go go go do your thing.
• 24:19
SPEAKER_01: I'm good I got my shovel she's like I'm digging my way yeah there there are certain character arcs that I I genuinely did like and there were other ones that I felt the I did not like the Audrey Horn subplot.
• 24:36
SPEAKER_01: I kind of feel like there's more to her character now like there's way more questions now that we'll never have the answers to.
• 24:45
SPEAKER_00: Wait can I disagree with you?
• 24:47
SPEAKER_01: You can yeah well like what like what kind of questions do we not have the answers to I'm of the opinion that Audrey Horn is basically like Laura Dern's character Diane where she is what they call a terpa the FBI they they call them terpas where they're like they exist in the world but they're not actually real so when Audrey has that moment in the Roadhouse and then kind of wakes up to see her face somewhere else I don't think that she is legitimately Audrey Horn anymore just like Diane wasn't legitimately Diane.
• 25:24
SPEAKER_00: So that wasn't really a question though.
• 25:26
SPEAKER_00: You answered the question like you got an that isn't answered.
• 25:30
SPEAKER_00: That's my take on I feel like that's it yeah like that's that's true.
• 25:33
SPEAKER_00: Oh snap because this way is really the Turpa I think Richard was the Turpa's son through Evil Dale.
• 25:43
SPEAKER_04: Mr C Mr C so double has remembered sons essentially oh no no no sorry Dougie's not happening I forgot Dougie's Dougie's a terpa Mr.
• 25:53
SPEAKER_04: C is just the evil version right because that's just want to clarify the confusion right I don't know if is Doug yeah yeah Dougie is a Turpa because when he dies he disappears Dougie was like was the copy of the evil um Cooper.
• 26:09
SPEAKER_01: Yes so I think I think Richard was the son of Turpa Audrey and Mr.
• 26:18
SPEAKER_01: C, which is like the evil Dale.
• 26:19
SPEAKER_01: So like he was the worst of the worst.
• 26:21
SPEAKER_01: You know he was just an empty evil being so uh did if that's the case did Mr.
• 26:27
  SPEAKER_04: C know that she was a Turpa I don't know.
• 26:32
SPEAKER_00: I think he creates them when he like raped them.
• 26:35
SPEAKER_00: Oh because both women were raped by Mr.
• 26:38
  SPEAKER_00: C.
• 26:38
SPEAKER_00: Yeah and both of them said the same line it was something along the lines of like I don't even know myself or I don't know who I am.
• 26:46
SPEAKER_00: It and like we only know that because I think it was Donna's dad the doctor said that the last time he saw Dale Cooper which we know is Mr.
• 26:55
SPEAKER_00: C walked out of Audrey's hospital room and then her dad Ben Horn said the boy never had a father.
• 27:02
SPEAKER_00: So like I thought I think at first we kind of assumed that it was um what's that really attractive man from Titanic?
• 27:10
  SPEAKER_01: Billy Zayn Jack.
• 27:11
SPEAKER_00: Yeah so like we thought it was his kid but then after hearing that it was like oh what happened there?
• 27:19
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 27:20
SPEAKER_03: It does make sense that the Audrey that we saw would be a copy because their personality in this show was very much so not like her from the original like you see how the real Dale Cooper is.
• 27:36
SPEAKER_03: Like he was still very much so like himself whereas Mr C was like this crazy like underworld boss.
• 27:46
SPEAKER_03: So it does make sense that their son would be just absolutely out of pocket and crazy and like robbing his grandmother and all that stuff so it's like two not so good things coming together and creating something worse.
• 28:03
SPEAKER_01: So I want to ask you guys what you think happened at the end.
• 28:09
SPEAKER_01: Specifically the last part where he goes back in time to 1989, sees Laura takes her by the hand what do you interpret that as as as meaning from that point on I'm gonna shoot it over to Anthony first.
• 28:24
SPEAKER_01: Do you consider that him like trying to change time or fixing something that like should have never happened or or what do you think?
• 28:32
SPEAKER_03: Yeah it very much so seemed like he was trying to change things like he was you know and and and this is where like when this came up I realized that like we definitely needed to see Firewalk with me because we got this scene in the movie it it came back in the show.
• 28:54
SPEAKER_03: You know so that would have been I guess it wouldn't have been too confusing because we would have been like oh I guess you know I would have figured oh I guess David Lynch is bringing him back in time.
• 29:04
SPEAKER_01: But still there are a couple scenes throughout um the return that benefit from Firewalk with me.
• 29:11
SPEAKER_03: Yeah absolutely so you're right on that mark.
• 29:14
SPEAKER_00: But I'm sorry I actually almost led you guys astray by saying I just I didn't want to watch Firewalk with me again so I was like we don't have to cover it but we actually did need to so good thing we did.
• 29:24
SPEAKER_03: Yes it definitely helped fill in a lot of blanks and it helped out with this show too but yeah it did seem like he was trying to change the past because Cooper like realized where he was like that he was with Laura just before she was killed and he was like you know maybe I can save her you know that's why he's trying to like lead her away from that spot.
• 29:49
SPEAKER_03: But it's like it didn't seem to work because she disappeared anyway from that moment.
• 29:56
SPEAKER_01: Yeah there was a couple things that changed before I go into that uh Rich what what what are your thoughts on him going back in time to that moment and leading up to the end of the episode like how do you feel that is supposed to be interpreted?
• 30:12
SPEAKER_04: I thought I was beginning to understand the world.
• 30:16
SPEAKER_04: I didn't know that time travel was uh what was the thing but you know thanks thanks for Austin Lynch you guys are the bet bees knees just kind of pull it out of nowhere nobody's talked about the woman in a glittery dress in black and white and a pellet stove in space and what that's supposed to mean and what she does.
• 30:40
  SPEAKER_04: Who is she?
• 30:41
  SPEAKER_04: Who is she?
• 30:41
SPEAKER_00: She was just trying to save on her heat cost.
• 30:44
SPEAKER_00: Like who is that woman?
• 30:46
SPEAKER_00: I don't know what did that mean there was like I thought like she was like the tall man's wife I just think that there are entities of good and evil in this universe and she obviously embodied the something something good.
• 31:00
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 31:00
SPEAKER_00: So I I just I thought it was just saying he has a family like tall tall guy giant guy the giant guy but the giant guy is the old guy yes right you keep saying that but I don't I never like said that.
• 31:11
SPEAKER_00: I never confirmed not that I need to confirm it I've confirmed it.
• 31:14
SPEAKER_04: We why there was an there was a scene where the giant sat down and he just dissolved into the old man.
• 31:22
SPEAKER_00: Oh and they said like one in the same or something like that.
• 31:24
SPEAKER_04: Yeah they that's yeah they did say one in the same that's true so I the ending I didn't know that they could do this.
• 31:31
SPEAKER_04: I mean we also didn't get to talk I mean the socket scene and then the how that was uh the one armed man was telling him to stick the fork in it and then uh I mean the uh Anthony being a little he went ahead last week if you guys eagle-eyed listeners would know that Anthony mentioned a scene of sexual intercourse between Dougie or Coop and his and uh Naomi Watts and I and I was sitting there going I don't remember this and I put the show on right after we finished the episode and I was like Anthony he watched ahead but we got to see that wait what I didn't that mentioned like that whole part where Naomi Watts basically gets all hot and bothered because he's like uh silent type whatever and he's just repeating things no no it's it's the scene it's a scene where um he takes his shirt off at the doctor's office and Naomi Watts' character realizes that he's attractive conventionally for the first time you mentioned that in our last podcast but that happens like a couple episodes after episode that we didn't uh keep it safe you didn't keep it secret buddy oh I I think I I think cheated are you sure it was after um I don't think it was that far after it's been like six it might have been a episode but in it I think it was like after um like when you're like oh we're stopping at eight I was like oh crap I'm already I'm like in my mind I'm like oh crap I'm at nine but I won't mention uh well we had we had actually the last uh I pulled a rich last episode seven months we've had a treaty where I can't watch forward all right all right and you guys are like Omar Qaddafi over here just breaking treaties you don't care you have all these sanctions me I don't break treaties I like I walked into work to rich being like they put these sanctions on me they put sanctions on me but they don't follow the rules that's like what are you talking about that that was that that was um that one was accidental I did I did go ahead accidentally but I usually I do stay stay on point but yeah I did mess up though but like the their whole like relationship with them I guess it's kind of funny but it's just it just I thought that the coop being just like lobotomized was funny for a while but then it just stretched out for so like the fact that his I kind of expected uh by the way what is his name sunny boy or sunny gym sunny gym what a what a terrible name but anyway um like you would I thought he would be the one to like see through it you know like this is you know and he's just like man this is the best version of my dad and like Naomi Watts like I don't the man can't drive so Naomi Watts did say something interesting where it suggested that this wasn't the first time that this has happened to Dougie.
• 34:34
SPEAKER_01: Like it happened sporadically over their relationship where he just kind of go like just becomes dumb.
• 34:40
SPEAKER_01: But she does say that line it's happened to him before blah blah blah so I I found that interesting going back to the ending though um I I feel like it's kind of important to to talk about like how many things change once the ending happens so we have them drive Cooper and Diane drive over to a hotel room and it's a one-story hotel and they park right in front of the door but when he wakes up in the morning not only does like the letter that he reads su suggest that they have two different names now but like when he exits the hotel it's a two-story hotel and he's parked across across the like on the other side of the parking lot.
• 35:28
SPEAKER_01: So that was that was really weird.
• 35:30
SPEAKER_01: I thought that was like at first I was just like that's a weird mistake like a continuity error but I think it's an on purpose and it's just like everything it's is changed because he decided to mess with time.
• 35:45
SPEAKER_01: And I think ultimately the moral of what this is suggesting about him going back was just that the trauma is necessary for all of these stories to have taken place.
• 36:01
SPEAKER_01: The entirety of Twin Peaks exists on the back of the death of Laura Palmer for better or worse.
• 36:08
SPEAKER_01: You know so like by removing that you remove all of those characters' necessities and they become basically lifeless husks.
• 36:15
SPEAKER_01: And by doing that he removes Laura entirely from the story.
• 36:20
SPEAKER_01: She doesn't even remember herself you know she lives in Texas in a in a house with uh a dead guy in it that they just you know it's the elephants in the room that just don't address Rich needs answers.
• 36:36
SPEAKER_01: Rich requires but but that's the thing and the ending I got excited but I got rage baited by Lynch at the end.
• 36:44
SPEAKER_03: Cooper goes what year is this and then Laura screams and I'm like oh she's not gonna answer it I I couldn't Dakota thought he was about to get a timeline and then I thought so I slammed the laptop down.
• 37:00
SPEAKER_04: I I just no like I just slammed I'm sick of her screaming but you know what you were emotionally invested enough to do so and I have to And you know you know why honestly because of my aliens resurrection top movie of the uh top thing of this whole series firewalk with me reconceptualized everything and at least gave me a little bit of logic to move forward a little bit I don't I still don't understand how Coop was able to travel through time I still don't understand why Giant Man wouldn't have said something because they always say something why Miguel wouldn't have known something why the arm wasn't able to contribute anything of substance wait why should you call him Miguel isn't uh Mike I'm sorry did I just make him Hispanic sorry I was I was watching it in Spanish I don't know twin peaks muchísimo uh I don't uh I just turned him to Miguel but you say you said that you didn't think that time travel was an option but it has been a whole time because we know that like Dale Cooper and Laura Palmer met at different times of each other's lives.
• 38:18
SPEAKER_00: So Dale met Laura after she was already dead but she wrote about it in her diary.
• 38:24
SPEAKER_00: This was all in like wasn't that in like the first season Major Briggs like I think in our first episode I said.
• 38:31
SPEAKER_00: Oh it was in second season then I and I even said I was like this shows us that the black lodge is not connected to our time and it can act as like almost like a a portal a wormhole or something like that.
• 38:41
SPEAKER_03: A world between worlds even remember when Major Briggs goes to the White Lodge and like to him it Yeah it felt like a long time.
• 38:52
SPEAKER_03: Right right yeah and and it looked like he was gone for a long time which would make sense to like he why like he would die 70 years old but his body would look like a 40 year old man that kind of thing remember I'm confused about that like was his body preserved in one of the lodges maybe and then exhumed when necessary yeah but there was some like there was some crazy stuff in this season like some really cool visuals just from like a aesthetic point of view you know like there was some really cool things that I don't think I've ever seen visualized anywhere else and anything like it like the uh the woodsmen like when they would appear over a body and it was just like the the creepiest dirty bearded man dirty bearded men um it that was very active David Lynch's voice imagine him saying it he actually says it he says he yells like right after they right after they have that experience at that house where like he almost gets sucked into a vortex they're at the police station and they're having donuts and he goes I saw them dirty bearded men and I love that line so I kept I I keep thinking about it.
• 40:11
SPEAKER_03: His voice man like it just it doesn't like when you look at him it doesn't look like that voice would come out of that man but it it's so but it's hilarious though oh man I really I love I I guess I I I guess there was I I guess I did see like I didn't think that I guess it would end with this time travel thing and then that's it.
• 40:33
  SPEAKER_04: Right?
• 40:34
SPEAKER_04: Like it just you know what David Lynch you made me watch like 17 musical numbers for no reason almost they were cool though.
• 40:45
SPEAKER_04: You know what you know what's not cool for me four minutes of paying close attention to find something out right I'm like okay I'm like Dakota over here with a notebook right like he's looking at dates I'm like okay I'm I'm analyzing the scene I'm like okay she's holding the guitar that way right and then after like four minutes I'm like oh that did not matter I just watched intently and tried to discern something and I mean other than when was it that they have uh Eddie Vedder was it Eddie Vedder like Trent Reznor Trent Reznor Trent Reznor yeah from HDLC so that was cool you know but like those musical numbers confused me my man he's just a master of illusion I don't like I I I'm an English teacher guys I don't know if I've like I analyze things all the time this show makes me feel stupid.
• 41:32
SPEAKER_01: I don't feel like I know anything here's the thing if you were to rewatch it knowing what you know from future episodes do you think you would pick up on things differently or think about the thematic rationale for certain things differently there is a knowing how little of what you know now I mean I have often expressed in this show that once I rewatch something I generally soften a little bit if I feel like I have the whole picture but this picture is still real blurry man.
• 42:04
SPEAKER_04: There are the times where it feels like and it makes me laugh because a lot of times it's like David like it it's I I guess now I'm starting to understand the relationship with him and Albert where it's like there were times where Albert was saying something and it's like what David Lynch was responding didn't make sense but now it's like that he was fake not hearing it whatever but there are still some lines of dialogue that some a character says and then what the next character says doesn't seem to indicate that they're talking to each other.
• 42:37
SPEAKER_04: And I'm not talking about in the black lodge or red lodge like it could be like Lucy at a desk and you're like you know she's like oh you know lovely weather and someone's like how about those toothbrushes and she's like bears and you're just like what I like the red couch.
• 42:52
SPEAKER_00: Yeah or yes I mean I actually really liked that scene.
• 42:57
SPEAKER_00: I thought that was really cute because it was like they argued about the couches and then she got what she wanted and then she ordered his couch.
• 43:05
SPEAKER_00: That could have been like a little Hallmark commercial like that was actually really sweet.
• 43:09
SPEAKER_04: Their interactions are the wildest because those are the two that I don't think they were talking to each other.
• 43:14
SPEAKER_04: They just say things irrespective of the other person and then the response is not because of what the person said it's just continuing what the other one was thinking.
• 43:22
SPEAKER_04: And I'm just like oh my god I get so confused um but I you know kudos to Lucy and tall hair guy uh they're consistent they're they might be the most consistent characters throughout the entire series.
• 43:38
SPEAKER_01: Anthony you look like you had something to say.
• 43:40
SPEAKER_03: I do the thing that I like the most about the ending of this season is just how like everything comes together and I just feel like I'm staring at a giant or I'm I'm staring at a giant puzzle that came with all the pieces but one and it's that on purpose.
• 44:04
SPEAKER_01: The way I see it is actually like Twin Peaks, the original series, was its own jigsaw puzzle.
• 44:10
SPEAKER_01: And the return is an entirely different jigsaw puzzle that only comes with half the pieces that you try to like fit in with the Twin Peaks original puzzle.
• 44:20
SPEAKER_04: I would like to jigsaw this like in the Saw movies.
• 44:23
SPEAKER_04: And I'm going to put David Lynch, I'm going to tie him to a chain there with Carry Elways in that weird room and I'm like You want to play a game?
• 44:32
SPEAKER_01: Explain your movie David speaking about being chained speaking about being chained in rooms the scene in like the police prison.
• 44:41
  SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
• 44:42
SPEAKER_01: So anxiety anxiety progressite my sure anxiety yes and it was it was like my my my I was on the edge of my seat like emotionally just because you have this girl with no eyes just and then you have this guy just bleeding profusely out of his mouth.
• 45:05
SPEAKER_01: I think that was Billy that they kept talking about that Audrey Horn was looking for I think it was that guy.
• 45:12
SPEAKER_01: I forgot why we came to the because in the Roadhouse there's a scene where like two random people like are talking to each other and they say yeah Billy like he came his mouth was all bloody and he just he went to our sink and he just it was yeah it was like the two girls like she was telling the story.
• 45:29
SPEAKER_01: Yeah so I think the guy that was like repeating everything and that had like the never ending bloody mouth was the person that Audrey Horn was trying to meet at the roadhouse.
• 45:40
SPEAKER_00: Also like that guy needed serious medical attention and those police officers were like genuinely wrong for just putting him in prison and not getting him any medical assistance.
• 45:53
SPEAKER_01: Why was that one guy so what did the off the the jerk cop do that got him what he hide the Richard when he killed that child that one woman sent a a letter into the police station and Richard told called that police officer and said hey I need you to intercept this message and he did when he went out to the the post office guy he intercepted the message and Lucy saw why do we know why he would do that for Richard?
• 46:23
  SPEAKER_04: He's a dirty cub okay.
• 46:26
SPEAKER_01: I wasn't sure if there was more there's always generally we also know that woman had called into the police station earlier but there had been no response so most likely he was the one who got the call yeah so he was just like An Anthony what was your favorite character?
• 46:45
SPEAKER_03: It was um the guy with the glove on his hand right you know what's funny that you say that was that I was literally about to like bring him up like you know what's up with that guy with that green glove why did it make me think of like a tiny version of those like Hulk gloves yeah and but like he was super strong too like dude what the heck it's like that a punch and then he like was punching like he was fighting that like smoky version of um of Bob.
• 47:18
SPEAKER_03: Yeah and like it was crazy like like everybody's just like watching and he just like get up and he's just like punch I'm like what am I watching right now Peaks Avengers you know like there was the I don't even I honestly why do you it's like you guys will bring stuff up then just like it's almost like you know right like I don't even I have no clue.
• 47:43
SPEAKER_04: I if you ask me I'm like a million dollars Rich where did that guy come from?
• 47:48
SPEAKER_00: I don't know I don't even remember I don't even know why it matters other than like stupid forehead guy James is involved with this dude I don't know why he's my favorite thing is like that we had to endure so much of James in like all aspects right like in every season we've had to deal with James and we all hate him and he's completely pointless and in the end his only purpose is to bring Glove Man to the final battle that it's his only accomplishment even in like his last moments on the show he's again trying to steal someone else's woman third time's a charm James maybe it'll work out for you this time oh wait no fourth time because he takes Laura from Bobby Donna from Mike that blonde lady from her person Evelyn and then he just starts like flirting with this random girl who's at the bar with her husband incredible game incredible game can anyone like really recap the green like the the hand guy I don't yeah alright so I will recap for you he was living in England um that wasn't a joke but you know what?
• 49:03
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah I totally believe it I think that's a development I saw coming.
• 49:09
SPEAKER_00: But what's also so funny to me is it's like it's always like a good like a thing for like good writing you're supposed to show and not tell and so many plot lines in this is literally two characters sitting and just telling each other.
• 49:20
SPEAKER_00: So it's just this British guy with a green glove just telling James and they're like after their shift is done.
• 49:25
SPEAKER_01: Well I think what people like about Twin or not just Twin Peaks but David Lynch in general like he's so popular among other directors is that he not only isn't afraid to break storytelling conventions for the sake of his art he willingly does it like he does it regularly.
• 49:44
SPEAKER_01: So he'll give you like 50 Chekhov's guns and not pull any of them off the shelves to to fire them.
• 49:56
SPEAKER_04: Like we can go as long as we want also where he's like freaking out he's like cursing and stuff he's like this is why we can't get dream because they give us two days for this this is not the way to work you guys can't see this as the viewing as the listening audience but both Jen and Dakota are sharing a wired headset so they both look like David Lynch in the show like at all times because they have their little like headsets in it's amazing.
• 50:23
SPEAKER_01: Oh we yeah we got the headsets in so okay the glove guy don't remember his name he had a dream that he entered or that he was told he needed to enter a hardware store go to the the counter with the gloves and find the package with the one glove only right handed and he needed to purchase that and it would give him the strength he needed to do what he needed to do.
• 50:48
SPEAKER_00: Because wait before that like he was walking home from the bar and he had decided like he was wasting his life and he wanted to dedicate his life to helping people and then he has the dream that night.
• 50:58
SPEAKER_01: So anyway he gets the call to go over to Washington State and live in Twin Peaks and um that's how he got the job.
• 51:11
SPEAKER_00: And his plane ticket was already purchased his plane ticket was already purchased.
• 51:15
SPEAKER_00: Spooky so he was just like hanging around working in Twin Peaks waiting for an opportunity to help someone like he had to like he would know when his moment would come oh we gotta talk about Sarah Paul.
• 51:27
SPEAKER_04: One of the more important powerful characters in the entirety of the Twin Peaks franchise is a Rando who got a like come he just got like an angel message like just accept it Joseph and then like he just moved to Seattle whatever and was fine with it.
• 51:47
SPEAKER_00: Yeah that's exactly what happened and we get all this backstory because James is like after work and just talking to the guy because it's his birthday and he's like tell me your story it's my birthday come on and can canonically canonically it it can't be his birthday because his birthday's in January look this up and the show takes place in September October so like it's not possible.
• 52:12
SPEAKER_01: But so James is also a liar James is lying about his birthday fat liar he just wants to know what's up with green glove.
• 52:19
SPEAKER_00: Come on man it's I'm just gonna start saying that when it's not my birthday come on it's my birthday you gotta give me the cheap morning announcements this person's birthday.
• 52:28
SPEAKER_01: We should just write into the morning announcements like four times a year and announce my why is Sarah Palmer so terrifying she is the most scary old woman I've ever seen in my life she's in um it's like the description of Isma scary beyond all reason.
• 52:45
SPEAKER_04: She's I think it's yeah in big love she's married to the guy in the trailer park in this show uh the guy with the cowboy hat who watches the kid get hit by the car.
• 52:54
SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah in Big Love they're married and they're like the head of like the Mormon church and they are they are the both of them so frightening that it was actually weird for me to see the gentleman not be like terribly scary.
• 53:10
SPEAKER_04: You know I was like oh okay that's weird but she just I don't I don't think there's anything that woman can do.
• 53:16
SPEAKER_04: I just think that for like probably 40 years of her life she's just a frightening individual.
• 53:21
SPEAKER_04: That's a woman that like it doesn't matter when like you turn a corner and she's there I think you just that's what you yell like she's deeply frightening.
• 53:29
SPEAKER_01: Her eyes bulge I don't know I it's I don't know if that's acting or just birth so I have a theory with Sarah I think she is like the evil of the world like I think they talk about it in a scene with uh with Gordon Cole and Albert he goes there's a story about a being known as Jiao Day it's been it's it's turned into Judy over the years.
• 54:03
SPEAKER_01: I think the frog moth thing was literally like the reincarnation of that evil Jiao Day and I think Sarah was the young girl who ate unwillingly ate that frog moth thing and I think at least my interpretation is that she is that evil being and the reason I say that is because when she took her face off in the bar scene there was like that sound of like knives or something sharp when she attacked that that guy at the bar.
• 54:42
SPEAKER_01: It was the same sound as in the first episode of the return when those two were looking at that glass box and that being attacked them from that glass box.
• 54:53
SPEAKER_01: It was the it was the same sound and I think she is the same being essentially somehow.
• 55:00
SPEAKER_01: So I think Sarah Palmer is like the evil of all evils in this world personally.
• 55:04
SPEAKER_05: Just my apologies to the actress who plays Sarah Palmer were obviously Dakota was asking about the character and I decided to attack her physical features and how imposingly scary.
• 55:16
SPEAKER_04: No she's actually physically terrifying she's so terrifying in the show like just just the way she looks at like Hawk and stuff I thought she was gonna kill Hawk right there and the doorstep by the way I'm not sure if she unwittingly if if like the monster like what or the evil went into her bomb like that girl went like like like she like she accepted a giant that's not a small she was asleep she was asleep how can you listen if I if I got a light every that whole town fell asleep.
• 55:46
SPEAKER_04: Anthony what do you think do you think that she willingly accepted the evil or that she was just asleep with her mouth open for that long she was asleep you know it's Anthony your prolonged silences before you answer is so funny.
• 56:03
  SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
• 56:04
SPEAKER_03: It's just that episode eight was insane you know I mean the the the show all altogether is insane yeah I mean that's a good theory because yet they do speak of a Judy but like they're never blatantly shown like pointing out like yes this is it but yeah Sarah does have like that crazy yeah face opening part.
• 56:28
SPEAKER_03: And it's like they and then like they never go back to it.
• 56:31
  SPEAKER_03: That's just it.
• 56:32
SPEAKER_01: My thing is like then why is it like with Leland where he has Bob sometimes I think so because there's that scene in the grocery store where she starts you know like almost having like a fit where like they're she said that the men are coming I think it's like men are coming in like something like that.
• 56:52
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah I don't know I don't know she's crazy.
• 56:55
SPEAKER_04: Maybe the men are the the dirty bearded guys.
• 56:58
SPEAKER_04: Wait what he froze oh maybe the men are the dirty bearded you know the guy to light guys maybe that's who she's talking because she was a convenience I thought that's who she was talking about because she was in convenience store.
• 57:09
SPEAKER_04: Ah so I very much thought when she said the men are coming that it was like she was seeing like the convenience store maybe she's had it in her dream but she knew that they were coming to a convenience store.
• 57:19
SPEAKER_01: Oh another dirty bearded men um what one thing that I really love like the little callbacks to things that kind of make the mythology work in a weird way in Twin Peaks Fire Walk with me there's that whole like missing pieces documentary where it's like a bunch of like deleted scenes.
• 57:42
SPEAKER_01: There's a deleted scene where they talk about where I think Philip Jeffries the David Bowie character talks about how these people live above a convenience store and then we have that episode with Dale going to the convenience store and walking up the side of the convenience store to the like the non-existent second floor and they just disappear so I thought that was just a really cool callback to that literal deleted scene from 25 years ago.
• 58:06
  SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
• 58:08
SPEAKER_01: How do we you want to know something um the first time that we watched the return and we decided I guess it wasn't a conscious effort to like stop watching the series it was just like a alright we'll we'll we'll catch up on some of the other stuff that we're watching and then you know continue with the return.
• 58:27
SPEAKER_01: It was the episode where there was like Bobby Shelly and their daughter are eating at a restaurant and like a kid shoots into the diner and it's like the it's the worst scene ever in terms of like just like getting your freaking heart pumping because you have the person behind them just like honking and honking and you're they're Bobby and everyone else is just ignoring this person and you're just like what is going on and then the lady's just screaming we gotta move we gotta move and then the person next to her starts convulsing and like starts like lifting up out of the chair and it's like and the lady's just like ha ha watching it again I was dying laughing because it was the funniest scream ever like ah ah that was literally it like if you go back it's so funny.
• 59:21
SPEAKER_00: But it's also terrifying it's a terrifying scared when so when we first watched that I was that scene made me so scared that I was like I can't I need a break and we watch something lighthearted and then we just didn't go back to it.
• 59:32
SPEAKER_00: And so this time when that scene started I just like closed my eyes and covered my ears I was like I cannot watch this I can't take this it's just nerve wracking all I could hear was her scream.
• 59:40
  SPEAKER_01: There's no answer.
• 59:41
SPEAKER_01: There's like it's just a scene it's just a scene that happens yeah the the the kid starts like puking I'm like it's so gross.
• 59:49
SPEAKER_03: Oh my god and and like the worst part like I I don't like I can handle stuff like that but like I'm sitting there like I'm eating food I'm less like yeah I'm gonna go to a couple scenes like that I was like I'm changing the YouTube while I finish my food and then I'll come back.
• 1:00:08
SPEAKER_01: Oh man good old YouTube never fails.
• 1:00:12
SPEAKER_00: So do you guys think that Cooper made the right choice by trying to save Laura or should he have just let it go?
• 1:00:19
SPEAKER_03: I think it was well intentioned but I don't think he you know obviously like he did it without thinking of what would happen, you know, like what the implications would be it would be just like I think it was like you know well because of everything that he had gone through he was thinking like well if I do this it might you know it he might be saving himself too right because if this didn't hap happen to Laura then he probably you know he wouldn't be going to Twin Peaks and then he wouldn't be getting stuck in the Black Lodge for 25 years.
• 1:00:57
SPEAKER_01: There there's another um scene that I feel was a a nice callback to the original show.
• 1:01:05
SPEAKER_01: Ben Horn's secretary tries to like come onto him and he kind of shuts her down and she tells him you're a good man Ben Horn and I liked that because that was his entire arc in the second season.
• 1:01:20
SPEAKER_01: He wasn't a good man back then but he turned his life around somehow where he wasn't just the man that he was in the first season essentially of Twin Peaks.
• 1:01:29
SPEAKER_01: And he had changed so much that other people actually saw him as a good man which I found was actually kind of a a cool redemption arc for that character.
• 1:01:39
SPEAKER_04: Yeah and then Dale just undid it yeah I you know what I I was actually happy for Ben.
• 1:01:45
SPEAKER_04: I mean uh Jerry lost it he got a Jerry was gone way way off his binoculars killed someone dude dude when he when he started using the binoculars the wrong way I'm just like this guy is just cooked right now I did like the scene with like Bobby and the other police he um like he solved the riddle of that little like you know that hidden like puzzle item um and then he brought them out to like you know the coordinates because he knew what it was and like how he kind of like looked back fondly on his time with his dad like he like you could tell he was appreciative of like the time even though like he grew up to be kind of snotty he still respected his father enough he did he did yeah appreciated the time that he got to spend with him even though he didn't really appreciate it at the time yeah yeah you and then I also like that his dad like richly still hates this guy you all right tell us tell us which my like my social media has become infected with Twin Peaks alright because of you people you're welcome I'm sorry you're welcome but it's the funniest it's like the most charming thing like in the last to fall onto your in the last two weeks I get I get somebody and it had Dakota didn't post it Anthony didn't post it Jen didn't post it alright like just randomly on my timeline someone else for no good reason was like this is one of my favorite moments in all of television and film history and it was Bobby talking to his dad in the diner and I wanted I to die like I was like they've somehow contacted Elon Musk to make sure that this came up on my feed and I I I think I told Jen I work I was like this the Bobby love's gotta stop the bob I just don't buy into the Bobby love.
• 1:03:40
SPEAKER_04: I you know what I guess he proved me wrong.
• 1:03:42
SPEAKER_04: Look at the end I can't even the he literally was a good guy I guess I don't know he changed I just don't I I think that's part of I don't believe that teenagers can change I just don't believe that they can become better people alright that's why I teach seniors because they're already well that that's why he's an adult and not a teenager I'm gonna shake this down by Didn't play for your fourth period class.
• 1:04:04
SPEAKER_04: There goes tenure ladies and gentlemen lost my job because of Twin Peaks I hope you guys are all happy fire walk with me they're gonna be like you you'll hear over the loudspeaker they'll be like is that Lacone?
• 1:04:18
  SPEAKER_04: No it's the arm.
• 1:04:20
SPEAKER_04: Also hey answer me this guys they have chosen a human actor to replace the arm why do that when you could have a tree why would you do that I mean they they could have replaced David Bowie but instead they made him a big tea kettle that's right yeah they did that's right he's communicated in like smoke signals from his big tea kettle smash I just the tree and then Angry Tree like he's just shaking Angry Tree like he's just regular tree but like angrier and shaking I don't know man.
• 1:05:01
SPEAKER_01: That thing was kind of creepy though like I'll I'll I'll be like I was like what in the world that that felt like some of his earlier films like Eraserhead like that movie has stuff like that throughout the entire thing.
• 1:05:14
SPEAKER_04: Wait if rape if Tupras are created by like rape like you guys said with we don't know it's just it's just a commonality between Diane and we we don't um I thought Dougie was made by Mike though.
• 1:05:28
SPEAKER_01: Hold on they don't all happen by rape and so like that's not like necessarily like that's just an observation that we were making because when Cooper goes back to his own body he tells Mike I'm gonna need another copy so that they can give it to Sonny Jim and Naomi Watts.
• 1:05:48
SPEAKER_00: Yeah and it was with like his hair and a little golden marble.
• 1:05:52
SPEAKER_00: Oh the go yes yes and they put it on a chair so like that's another way Oh so Sonny Jim does gonna he's gonna have a dad?
• 1:05:59
SPEAKER_04: Yeah he does There's a scene where where they go back, yeah.
• 1:06:03
SPEAKER_00: Which is really sweet, actually.
• 1:06:04
SPEAKER_00: And he like he was he seemed like Dale Cooper, like, and he was genuinely happy to see them.
• 1:06:08
SPEAKER_00: I was scared that they were gonna send Dougie back and he was gonna be like the old Dougie.
• 1:06:12
SPEAKER_04: But he's like a good Yeah, like riding twice a day, you know?
• 1:06:17
  SPEAKER_01: Jake gives two us.
• 1:06:20
SPEAKER_04: Oh, I bet she does.
• 1:06:23
SPEAKER_04: I just the fact that Naomi wants, yeah, like this is something he goes through.
• 1:06:27
SPEAKER_04: Like it just it it actually reminds I mean I'm reading Macbeth, but it reminds me of like Macbeth like loses his mind during dinner, and like even that's like no no guys, those who know him know this is just a passing infirmity.
• 1:06:40
SPEAKER_04: Ignore it, it'll go away.
• 1:06:42
SPEAKER_04: And I just love that this woman is like totally fine with her her husband being a zombie every once in a while.
• 1:06:48
SPEAKER_04: He can't drive, he can't tie his shoes, he can't open doors, like he can't use phones, he just repeats what you say, and like you're cool with that for a couple weeks.
• 1:07:00
  SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
• 1:07:00
SPEAKER_01: Like if you just got home, you like you haven't talked about the Mitchum brothers at all.
• 1:07:04
SPEAKER_01: Anthony, you said you loved the Mitchum brothers.
• 1:07:07
  SPEAKER_03: Dude, I I I love them.
• 1:07:09
SPEAKER_03: They're they were so they were so ridiculous, and then that little girl.
• 1:07:17
SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean they they weren't literally classic Twin Peaks, like they felt like they had the vibe of it.
• 1:07:23
SPEAKER_03: I just like I I liked that one of them they had like when when they met when they met like you know Dougie, they were like going to kill him, but then he was like, wait a second, I had a dream and he had a box.
• 1:07:36
SPEAKER_03: Is there a pie in there?
• 1:07:38
SPEAKER_03: There was a pie in the box.
• 1:07:40
SPEAKER_03: And then like they just become friends.
• 1:07:42
SPEAKER_03: And then like when uh Cooper comes back, they're like still friends.
• 1:07:48
SPEAKER_03: Like it's it's so crazy, and like they were there to witness that whole like weird thing with the kid in the glove and bob um Bob.
• 1:07:55
SPEAKER_01: For no reason, other than they just happened to be there.
• 1:07:58
SPEAKER_01: That was it, that was they were bringing the snacks, they were bringing the snacks, they're amazing.
• 1:08:02
SPEAKER_04: I yeah, honestly, they might be some like one of my favorite parts of the entire series, franchise, whatever you want to call it.
• 1:08:11
SPEAKER_04: Like, I just I thought that they were like Belushi is just great, just like you know, being a tough guy, but then actually being very scared, but then they're just like such loyal friends, like they're just such loyal guys, they really are, they're caring, you know, they're kind.
• 1:08:26
SPEAKER_00: When they're watching the girl on the like on the TV, like through the cameras, and she's like describing the ACs, and they're like, What is she talking about?
• 1:08:35
SPEAKER_00: Why is she talking so much?
• 1:08:36
SPEAKER_00: And then and then the one guy, he's like, She has nowhere else to go.
• 1:08:40
SPEAKER_00: They can't they know she sucks at her job, but like they just feel for real like this is her only job.
• 1:08:46
SPEAKER_01: Candy's the worst, but she's also somehow the funniest.
• 1:08:49
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
• 1:08:50
SPEAKER_00: And then in the end, when Dale Hoover's like, You're you're good guys, like Candy's the one who nods and goes, They are.
• 1:08:56
SPEAKER_03: You know, a part that I liked was that like Tom Sizemore's character like tries to poison him, and then like he like does like doesn't grill him or anything, but like he he goes, Dougie goes and like looks at these like pies and stuff, and then comes back and then like starts like massaging his shoulders, and he starts crying like oh, you know, like like that he's like, Oh, you know, like oh you caught me, like I I yes, I was trying to poison you.
• 1:09:26
SPEAKER_03: I'm just like dude, he this guy did nothing, and like you just like fell apart out of nowhere.
• 1:09:31
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 1:09:33
SPEAKER_01: It's such a strange show because it doesn't end satisfactorily in any by any metric.
• 1:09:42
SPEAKER_01: There is no satisfactory ending for this series.
• 1:09:45
SPEAKER_01: Maybe a little bit when Bob dies, maybe a little bit when Cooper comes back, but like the actual like resolution is so vague and climactic, but in a way that is antithetical to the entire series that it almost it's aggravating, but there are so many great moments in the show that like that we we can reference, like we can just keep talking endlessly about this stuff, but it's a frustrating mix of basically Lynch and Frost telling us like that feeling that you had with the original show, we're not gonna give you that.
• 1:10:22
SPEAKER_01: We're gonna give you this.
• 1:10:24
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I felt to me personally, I felt tonally both shows were completely different.
• 1:10:29
SPEAKER_01: Completely like they didn't even have like the background music, the right music everywhere in the the original series.
• 1:10:35
SPEAKER_01: Occasionally they would they would kind of ham it up a little bit like what like during Laura Palmer scenes or the Audrey Horn dance.
• 1:10:42
  SPEAKER_00: Or James's performance.
• 1:10:44
  SPEAKER_01: James's oh yeah, James's performance.
• 1:10:47
SPEAKER_00: It's been the 25 years and he hasn't updated the extremely simplistic lyrics of this song.
• 1:10:52
  SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
• 1:10:53
SPEAKER_01: And it's the same he has the same voice.
• 1:10:55
SPEAKER_01: Oh man, James, I love him.
• 1:10:58
SPEAKER_03: I do it's so crazy that like 25 years after the original series that David Lynch has like so much pull that he has like all of these actors and actresses seemingly playing like the most like minuscule roles.
• 1:11:16
SPEAKER_03: In any throwaway roles, and I'm like, hello, like these people have like been starred in their own like movies or TV shows, and they're just like side characters.
• 1:11:29
  SPEAKER_00: Like Michael Serra.
• 1:11:30
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 1:11:31
SPEAKER_01: At this point in David Lynch's his career, he had become such an icon of just the arts and surrealism that people just it there's a term for this type of filmmaking.
• 1:11:47
SPEAKER_01: It's called Lynchian, like it's literally like Lynch, you know, like so people have especially in the industry, they they loved him.
• 1:11:56
SPEAKER_01: So it was like it's really no wonder that like Stanley Kubrick considered his favorite movie to be a racerhead.
• 1:12:03
SPEAKER_01: It's no wonder that George Lucas wanted him on for Star Wars.
• 1:12:08
SPEAKER_01: I'm telling you, the Force Fields will be down.
• 1:12:12
  SPEAKER_01: Don't worry.
• 1:12:13
SPEAKER_01: Are you sure I'm the right guy for that?
• 1:12:19
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, imagine like David Lynch saying that like George Lucas talked his ear off.
• 1:12:25
  SPEAKER_01: Uh so crazy.
• 1:12:26
SPEAKER_03: I just uh Luke Skywalker would have ended up in Twin Peaks somehow had he like Oh yeah.
• 1:12:34
SPEAKER_01: Luke in the Black Lodge.
• 1:12:35
SPEAKER_01: That's one of the cool things about him is that like this movie or this this uh this show is filled with actors and stuff that he has used in other stuff.
• 1:12:46
SPEAKER_01: You know, obviously Dale Kyle McLachlan was in Blue Velvet, wasn't Dune.
• 1:12:51
SPEAKER_00: Naomi Watts was from Ma Holland Drive, Laura Dern was from Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart.
• 1:12:59
  SPEAKER_01: And Inland Empire, yeah.
• 1:13:00
  SPEAKER_00: And Inland Empire.
• 1:13:02
SPEAKER_00: So I like I think it's a testament to what a great uh director he was to work with.
• 1:13:06
SPEAKER_00: Like he genuinely wanted to make the people that he worked with happy.
• 1:13:10
SPEAKER_01: The guy who was at the that desk, like he just sat at the desk and like made phone calls all day and like tried to like put hits out on people.
• 1:13:20
SPEAKER_01: I don't even remember his name, but he was the guy and the opening scene of Moholland Drive, like the scariest scene of all time.
• 1:13:28
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 1:13:28
  SPEAKER_01: He was that guy.
• 1:13:29
SPEAKER_01: Uh the this one of the singers, Rebecca Del Rio, the one that had like the really long song about like stars.
• 1:13:37
SPEAKER_00: Which I think David likes wrote the lyrics to that song, by the way.
• 1:13:40
  SPEAKER_01: Did he?
• 1:13:40
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
• 1:13:41
SPEAKER_00: I think I saw it in the credits.
• 1:13:42
SPEAKER_01: She was in she was like in this like super haunting scene of Moholland Drive where she sang another song in in Spanish.
• 1:13:49
SPEAKER_01: He he likes reusing actors, especially and I think he got as many people as possible from the original Twin Peaks to come back for this.
• 1:13:58
SPEAKER_01: And I think even like I showed you guys that the woman that Dale Cooper sees in the beginning of this, I think it's episode three of The Return, when he's in the White Lodge or the Black Lodge, I don't know what lodge he's in.
• 1:14:12
  SPEAKER_01: He's somewhere else.
• 1:14:13
SPEAKER_01: He sees a woman on a couch that's actually run at Pulaski.
• 1:14:17
SPEAKER_01: So like they brought they bring back everybody that even people who die.
• 1:14:20
SPEAKER_01: Like Jacques Renault, like he he's obviously like a cousin of Jacques Renault, or it's not literally Jacques Renault, but they they bring back everybody except for Harry Truman.
• 1:14:31
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Harry Truman.
• 1:14:32
SPEAKER_01: He I guess he quit acting before Yeah.
• 1:14:37
SPEAKER_03: And it you know what's insane is is that um was it La Log Lady's actress died shortly after her last scene?
• 1:14:46
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was really sad.
• 1:14:47
SPEAKER_01: Isn't that like the worst?
• 1:14:50
SPEAKER_03: Like actually And it's crazy because she's like, I'm dying in the show.
• 1:14:54
SPEAKER_01: She said you can tell that she is dying.
• 1:14:56
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 1:14:58
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, she's on oxygen.
• 1:14:59
SPEAKER_03: And like you can tell that you know, like you could tell that it was like not fake, that it was like it was like actually like her being sick, yeah.
• 1:15:09
SPEAKER_03: I mean, if dude, if that was like all like makeup and stuff, I would have been like, dang, that would have been some crazy feat right there.
• 1:15:17
SPEAKER_01: That scene where she's telling Hawk that she's dying, and then he hangs up and he goes, Goodbye, Margaret, after the phone call.
• 1:15:24
  SPEAKER_01: It that killed me.
• 1:15:25
SPEAKER_01: I was just like, oh yeah, that's too much.
• 1:15:27
  SPEAKER_04: That made me sad.
• 1:15:28
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I won't lie.
• 1:15:29
  SPEAKER_04: That made me sad.
• 1:15:30
  SPEAKER_04: That was good.
• 1:15:31
SPEAKER_04: I don't I have no hate for Log Lady.
• 1:15:33
SPEAKER_01: He has no hate for Log Lady.
• 1:15:34
  SPEAKER_01: Everybody hates the log.
• 1:15:38
SPEAKER_03: I mean, dude, I I I even loved it when your boy in uh season two, like when he like cosplays as her Windom Earl.
• 1:15:50
  SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
• 1:15:51
  SPEAKER_01: Yo, Wyndham Earl.
• 1:15:53
SPEAKER_01: I think he gets a single mention in this season, and I'm so happy about that.
• 1:15:57
SPEAKER_01: Just a mention, a fleeting, a fleeting memory of Wyndham Earl.
• 1:16:02
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let's we have a wrestling fan on the show, so let's let's send it over to Rich.
• 1:16:08
SPEAKER_01: What did you think of the arm wrestling scene?
• 1:16:11
  SPEAKER_04: Alright.
• 1:16:11
SPEAKER_04: So not only do I I love professional wrestling, where arm wrestling once in a while does become part of the show, but um I'm also a uh probably one of the biggest fans of the I inarguably the greatest arm wrestling movie of all time, over the top, uh starring Stavester Salone, uh, where he tries to basically win the custody of his son from his estranged wife and her terrible evil dad, who's played by the same actor as uh Fich Lamon on uh Sopranos, I can't remember his name right now, but um ridiculous.
• 1:16:46
SPEAKER_04: I mean, uh, but honestly, I loved it.
• 1:16:48
SPEAKER_04: Like I love arm wrestling and any kind of media.
• 1:16:54
SPEAKER_04: Uh it is so dumb.
• 1:16:56
SPEAKER_04: Uh the way he's like, oh this this does it hurt here, and he's just playing with him.
• 1:17:01
SPEAKER_04: Uh like just there's nothing more villa like in wrestling, there's nothing more villainy than like doing that, like playing with your opponent and stuff like that, you know.
• 1:17:11
SPEAKER_00: And oh wait, can you repeat that?
• 1:17:13
SPEAKER_04: Repeat that you said there's nothing more villainous than what oh than like toying with your opponent in an arm wrestling match, you know, and and showing how how powerful you are, but at the same time, you know, like it and it's he's just playing with him so much.
• 1:17:26
SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's just like one of the classic things you do in wrestling to establish like a villain, you know.
• 1:17:32
SPEAKER_04: So it was just like I love that Lynch kind of like lean that way.
• 1:17:36
SPEAKER_01: That's how you establish dominance, yeah.
• 1:17:38
SPEAKER_04: You know, like it's but also like for the audience, it just makes him seem like that much like he could have just like slammed him down, you know.
• 1:17:46
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's just like I'm not comfortable there.
• 1:17:50
  SPEAKER_01: It feels better here.
• 1:17:51
SPEAKER_01: Doesn't it feel better here?
• 1:17:53
SPEAKER_04: But I really did not like I will I gotta give it to uh Hank McClain over here.
• 1:17:58
SPEAKER_04: You know, he he really made me hate Mr.
• 1:18:02
  SPEAKER_04: C.
• 1:18:02
SPEAKER_04: Like I like Coop and I hate Mr.
• 1:18:04
  SPEAKER_04: C.
• 1:18:05
SPEAKER_04: Uh which makes me hurt because like he's got like my hair essentially.
• 1:18:10
SPEAKER_04: If I just if I just put some mousse and blow it out, you know, like I'm gonna look like Mr.
• 1:18:14
  SPEAKER_04: C.
• 1:18:15
SPEAKER_01: Grease it up, grease it up, you'll be just like Mr.
• 1:18:17
  SPEAKER_01: C.
• 1:18:18
SPEAKER_01: Um, so one thing about the arm wrestling saying that I I said to Jen, I was just like, you know what?
• 1:18:24
  SPEAKER_01: I can't believe I'm rooting for Bob.
• 1:18:28
SPEAKER_01: I cannot believe that I'm rooting for Bob right now, but I am.
• 1:18:31
SPEAKER_01: And he beats him and then just like punches a hole through his head.
• 1:18:35
  SPEAKER_01: Crazy.
• 1:18:36
  SPEAKER_01: This is insane.
• 1:18:37
SPEAKER_01: You don't see that on wrestling too often.
• 1:18:39
SPEAKER_04: No, not all the time.
• 1:18:41
  SPEAKER_04: Uh I mean.
• 1:18:44
SPEAKER_04: But I I really I actually did really like that.
• 1:18:47
SPEAKER_04: So uh yeah, look, there's some things I like, see?
• 1:18:49
SPEAKER_04: It took an hour and 32 minutes.
• 1:18:52
SPEAKER_01: Let's kind of divorce ourselves from the return and just talk about Twin Peaks as a whole uh before we close out the 151st episode of Project Geekology.
• 1:19:03
SPEAKER_01: Um, Anthony, let's let's jump over to you.
• 1:19:06
SPEAKER_01: What do you think about Twin Peaks as a whole?
• 1:19:10
SPEAKER_01: Do you appreciate its charm?
• 1:19:11
SPEAKER_01: Do you kind of have a new understanding or appreciation for it that you didn't have before watching it?
• 1:19:16
SPEAKER_01: Like, how do you feel currently?
• 1:19:18
SPEAKER_03: Well, I'm glad that I was able to finally get to it because like I say, it has been on my list for a long time.
• 1:19:27
SPEAKER_03: You know, with that being said, that I do especially with the like initial series, I do really like the charm and how the the limit to the technology that they had back then.
• 1:19:41
SPEAKER_03: It it was not like it wasn't anything that was holding them back, but rather it it really enhanced the show.
• 1:19:51
SPEAKER_03: But in the return, it's like we got everything that you could really get with a like kind of like a modern TV show, but still with some some of those like old kind of like cheesy like cheesy effects.
• 1:20:09
SPEAKER_03: Like there was like one moment in the return where somebody's head was like kind of expand and it looked like Photoshop and somebody just like moving their like their head like kind of Oh yeah.
• 1:20:22
SPEAKER_03: Um I think it w was it was it Diane?
• 1:20:26
SPEAKER_00: I don't remember who it was, but like I actually have seen the behind the credits or like behind behind the what is that?
• 1:20:32
SPEAKER_00: Behind the scenes behind the scenes scenes.
• 1:20:34
SPEAKER_00: I saw the video of that, and it was like Laura Dern being like, I don't know if this is gonna work, and he was like, just do this.
• 1:20:40
SPEAKER_00: Just you you got it.
• 1:20:42
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but yeah, like you know, there's still some like cheesy scenes overall.
• 1:20:48
  SPEAKER_03: I do like it.
• 1:20:49
SPEAKER_03: I you know, I did enjoy the series, but it is like when you're watching it straight, it can be a lot, especially like because it's like you're you're going through like a lot of mental gymnastics with this.
• 1:21:05
SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm kind of like, you know, to to be honest, like I'm kind of like, okay, you know, I'm I'm actually glad that we're doing something different next week, you know.
• 1:21:13
SPEAKER_03: And it's not because I hate Twin Peaks, it's just it's so artistic that your mind is just like, okay, I like it, I feel like I'm processing too much, like too much for too long.
• 1:21:26
  SPEAKER_03: I agree.
• 1:21:27
SPEAKER_03: And yeah, but you know, not a knock on the show, it is good, just really crazy at some times, or a lot of times.
• 1:21:36
SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna throw it over to Rich.
• 1:21:39
SPEAKER_01: So you you've kind of dogged the show for five weeks now.
• 1:21:43
SPEAKER_01: Do you feel that you at least understand the charm of the series or appreciate why other people enjoy it?
• 1:21:50
SPEAKER_04: I can appreciate why other people enjoy it.
• 1:21:53
SPEAKER_04: You know, the coffee stuff is I like the Coop likes coffee, you know, and pie.
• 1:21:57
  SPEAKER_04: I think I liked it's weird.
• 1:21:59
SPEAKER_04: Like, I guess they were trying to go with the with Dougie's character being or like Coop as you know the zombified, whatever, zombified Dougie being like ch the charming way he was in the first two seasons.
• 1:22:11
SPEAKER_04: And I I think that just infuriated me.
• 1:22:14
SPEAKER_04: Like, I like Coop in the first two seasons, and then I see him here, and I'm like, it makes me angry to think, I don't know, I'm a teacher.
• 1:22:21
SPEAKER_04: Like I check in on people, you know.
• 1:22:22
SPEAKER_04: Like, if someone looks weird, if someone looks off, I'm like, hey, are you okay?
• 1:22:26
SPEAKER_04: You know, like you seem a little different today, you know?
• 1:22:28
SPEAKER_04: And like everybody in his life is just like, yeah, man, whatever, you know, like he just operates like red door, and they bring him home.
• 1:22:37
SPEAKER_04: Like, and like one or two episodes would have been fine, but it was just like a little bit too much, you know.
• 1:22:41
SPEAKER_04: So I didn't get the ball, I I guess I wanted more regular coop.
• 1:22:45
SPEAKER_04: And when I finally get regular coop, I get him like dancing with a lady, you know, in glittering dress and uh a pellet stove, like and I don't know what's happening, and I just get confused.
• 1:22:57
SPEAKER_04: I do think that this is also a show that okay.
• 1:23:01
SPEAKER_04: If you made me binge watch Lost, I think I'd be angry a little bit.
• 1:23:07
SPEAKER_04: I think that it's too much too fast.
• 1:23:11
SPEAKER_04: Like if you're listening to this and you're like, wow, Rich has really been crapping on it, maybe like give it a couple of days, maybe don't watch six hours straight.
• 1:23:22
SPEAKER_04: You know, I I think I I was chasing the dragon and and I got to the end and I just wanted to s I hook smash, you know, like uh my boy from You wish you had the green glove.
• 1:23:35
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I wish I had a green glove.
• 1:23:36
SPEAKER_04: I just wanted to punch things, you know.
• 1:23:38
SPEAKER_03: And you wanted to cover the whole season in one episode, too.
• 1:23:43
SPEAKER_04: Well, I'm a degenerate and you know, sadist or masochist, but I I I do think that I could there is artistic value.
• 1:23:51
SPEAKER_04: He does things in a different way.
• 1:23:55
SPEAKER_04: He does things that make the viewing audience uncomfortable in a way that it makes you have to sit up and take notice.
• 1:24:05
  SPEAKER_04: Yes.
• 1:24:06
SPEAKER_04: And I think that it's just very much like uh your bird man, uh, that it can be beautiful at moments, and if you're trying to look for too much strings of logic and theory, you can drive yourself mad, and you just have to upset that there's birds.
• 1:24:23
SPEAKER_01: That just Anthony, that cements to me that we need to watch more Hayami Azaki for Rich.
• 1:24:29
  SPEAKER_01: For Rich's sake.
• 1:24:30
SPEAKER_01: I think I think we gotta we gotta pull a Hayami Yazaki film out of the hat.
• 1:24:34
SPEAKER_01: Maybe The Wind Rises or something.
• 1:24:38
SPEAKER_01: Make them really think anyway.
• 1:24:40
SPEAKER_01: Uh Jen, let's let's throw it over to you.
• 1:24:42
SPEAKER_01: Now that you have completed Twin Peaks, how do you feel overall?
• 1:24:46
SPEAKER_01: Are you satisfied with the ending and do you still look at the show the same way?
• 1:24:51
SPEAKER_00: I am satisfied with the ending.
• 1:24:53
SPEAKER_00: I think it was very like it's exactly what you would expect David Lynch to give you.
• 1:24:59
SPEAKER_00: I think if you returned to the return expecting concrete answers and for everything to tie together, then you're gonna be disappointed.
• 1:25:07
SPEAKER_00: But I kind of knew I knew that that wasn't gonna happen.
• 1:25:11
SPEAKER_00: And him just going, what year is it?
• 1:25:14
SPEAKER_00: And that's the last line I thought was hilarious and iconic.
• 1:25:19
SPEAKER_00: I loved the visuals, I loved seeing how David Lynch worked with updated technology, I thought was really cool.
• 1:25:25
SPEAKER_00: Like we saw what he was capable of in the past with Twin Peaks, but him having like a lot more resources and access to different tools.
• 1:25:32
SPEAKER_00: I thought what he did was really cool as a certified baby.
• 1:25:36
SPEAKER_00: Um, I wish it was a lot less scary because it was way too scary for me.
• 1:25:40
SPEAKER_00: But the scenes that weren't scary were great.
• 1:25:42
SPEAKER_00: If I can get an edited version without the scary scenes, I would re-watch it, but that's not an option.
• 1:25:48
  SPEAKER_00: So I probably won't re-watch it for a very long time.
• 1:25:51
SPEAKER_00: I'll probably forget how scary it is and then be like, I like the first two seasons of Twin Peaks are like a comfort show to me.
• 1:25:57
SPEAKER_00: Like I regularly return to those and I'll re-watch them.
• 1:26:00
SPEAKER_00: And I think it would take me like another at least five years before I'm like, I'm gonna re-watch the return again and maybe fire a walk with me.
• 1:26:07
SPEAKER_00: You see what I'm saying?
• 1:26:08
  SPEAKER_01: I see what you're saying.
• 1:26:10
SPEAKER_01: So I think I'm kind of in the same boat where I I also consider the original show a comfort series just because for the most part it is cozy, you know, just the the Twin Peaks theme, it lulls you into a false sense of security, and especially in in the return.
• 1:26:29
SPEAKER_01: Like there's absolutely no reason that theme song should should still be so like calming, right before it like throws uh the scariest stuff you've ever seen at your eyes.
• 1:26:38
  SPEAKER_01: But I yeah, I I agree.
• 1:26:41
SPEAKER_01: I I like that this was 100% directed by David Lynch, you know, it wasn't just like a couple episodes here or there, um, it was 100% his vision.
• 1:26:52
SPEAKER_01: And I think even the scenes that make you feel uncomfortable are the ones that you're gonna remember.
• 1:27:01
SPEAKER_01: Like the the scene where Richard comes and attacks his grandmother, and like Johnny is knocked over, and there's that like creepy doll, like hello Johnny, or something, you know, just keeps repeating that.
• 1:27:13
  SPEAKER_01: It's it's so frustrating at times.
• 1:27:16
SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry, it was just it was so he's on the floor, like Johnny.
• 1:27:22
  SPEAKER_04: I just I laugh.
• 1:27:24
  SPEAKER_04: Okay, Mr.
• 1:27:25
  SPEAKER_01: L evil, yeah.
• 1:27:27
  SPEAKER_01: Mr.
• 1:27:28
  SPEAKER_01: L.
• 1:27:28
  SPEAKER_01: That's a good one.
• 1:27:29
SPEAKER_01: Anyway, yeah, so I I I think that those scenes are interesting, and like he loves long scenes, he loves them.
• 1:27:38
SPEAKER_01: Like, if there's if there's an opportunity for a character to walk half a mile, he will follow that person with the camera.
• 1:27:45
SPEAKER_01: Like, he will do it.
• 1:27:47
SPEAKER_01: I'm surprised Nadine's scene where she walked across town was so short.
• 1:27:51
SPEAKER_01: You know, like all things considered, we were let easy on that one.
• 1:27:55
SPEAKER_01: Anyway, I did ultimately really, really enjoy the return for all of It's individual parts.
• 1:28:02
SPEAKER_01: I think as a whole, it is a frustrating show and it's designed to be.
• 1:28:06
SPEAKER_01: You know, it is designed to make you uncomfortable and make you feel uneasy about your original relationship with the original show.
• 1:28:14
SPEAKER_01: You know, like it's supposed to make you feel like maybe this isn't, you know, the comfort show that it is supposed to be or something like that.
• 1:28:20
  SPEAKER_01: But anyway, I digress.
• 1:28:21
SPEAKER_01: I really enjoy this series as a whole.
• 1:28:24
SPEAKER_01: The return lives up to some of the magic of Twin Peaks, but doesn't quite hit the mark for me.
• 1:28:31
SPEAKER_01: And yeah, we're gonna call it there for episode 151.
• 1:28:35
SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for listening to us here.
• 1:28:36
SPEAKER_01: If you want to check out any of our socials, be sure to click down into the show notes below where you can find uh what we're working on and stuff.
• 1:28:43
SPEAKER_01: Next week we have Rich and Anthony potentially covering Iron Lung, the new Markiplier film.
• 1:28:50
SPEAKER_01: So be there or be square.
• 1:28:52
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, wait, wait, wait.
• 1:28:54
SPEAKER_01: I think we're gonna need uh a review, guys.
• 1:28:56
SPEAKER_01: We need you to review this episode.
• 1:28:57
SPEAKER_01: We need it extremely juicy, kind of like when or no, not like not like Voodoo Ranger.
• 1:29:03
SPEAKER_01: Uh Rich is showing me his beer can.
• 1:29:05
SPEAKER_01: You know, like in the arm wrestling scene, right after the arm wrestling scene, you know, like he punches the guy in the face.
• 1:29:10
  SPEAKER_01: Juicy.
• 1:29:11
SPEAKER_01: We need that in our lives.
• 1:29:12
SPEAKER_01: Uh five star, juicy review, guys.
• 1:29:14
SPEAKER_01: Please be sure to knock us out of the park and knock us out while you're at it.
• 1:29:19
SPEAKER_01: Thanks, and we will see you, or half of us will see you next week.
• 1:29:23
  SPEAKER_01: Bye.
• 1:29:24
  SPEAKER_03: Goodbye.
• 1:29:25
SPEAKER_01: It is not happening again.
