Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_01: It's just overwhelming on so many levels.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: Like you're just you're you're focused on the moment, what you're doing, and then you look out and you go, I don't want to disappoint.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: I can't mess this up.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Hey, it's Deb.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: It's Happy Hour Deb.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: We are on day one, ladies and gentlemen of the country radio seminar.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Cindy Thompson is with me.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: How are you?
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: I'm so good.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: How are you?
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Happy Hour.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: It's good to be here.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: I'm so happy we got to meet.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: And I you've been doing this a little bit, I heard.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Well, I took a sabbatical.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: I was on Capitol Records early 2000s and just took a break, and I'm back after all these years making music, and it feels good to be back.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: It's independent.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: It's a whole new business, though.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: It's a whole new business.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Whole new business.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Tell me about the changes you've seen.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: How long did you take off?
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: 10 years, did you say?
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: No, over 20 years.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Twenty?
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: You don't even look 20 years old.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Well, thank you.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: Deb, you're very kind.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, I I was on Capital, had about three singles out.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: I think it was around 2002 that I stepped away.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: I remember.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: And started a family, and I started a jewelry company.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, make one-of-a-kind pieces for lots of artists.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: And I love it.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: It's been just such a sweet passion of mine, but I knew I'd come back to music someday.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: I just didn't know when, and all the doors started to open, and I was like, it's time.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: So I'm here.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: And how did that shift your life?
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: How old are your kids?
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: My daughter's 21 and my son is 17.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: And she got kind of adult, kind of.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Your kids are your kids still like you die.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: That's so true.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Um but I think, you know, it just felt like the right time.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Like I said, all the doors started to open, the right people started to come into place.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: And again, the business has drastically changed.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: There was no social media when I was an artist.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: It was only record labels.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: There are definitely days I wish that because you know there's good and bad about it, right?
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Like it gives access to fans to see you on a daily basis, and you can reach them and share your heart and new music, and it's a beautiful thing.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: But on the flip side, I want to try to stay as present as possible.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh, I guess I should have filmed that.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: I think that's the thing that's really missing because people are just do you handle your own or does somebody?
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: I have a social media team now.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: I've had them for over a year.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: I tried to enjoy your life and love your kids.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: I tried.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: That was like almost the death of me.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Like I was like, but fortunately, I love to design things, I love to write, and so there was, and I love to take pictures.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: So we were good for a little bit, but then I was like, it's just too much.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: I cannot do this and be a mom and you know, make jewelry and run that business.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: And I think it's so I don't think people understand that that artists are creators and they're so creative, but that's not something that you can just stretch out for 36 hours in a row.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: No, you need a break, you need to be inspired again to be creative, right?
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Which is like maybe watching a movie or spending time with your kid and eating dinner with them at the table.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: So I've definitely learned a balance and we've worked out with the social team.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: You need to teach that to other artists.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: It's hard.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, I should be doing TikTok more, but I also go, that's so silly to me.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: I'm in my age, but I love watching other people do TikTok.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: I've grown up.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: That's the way I feel too.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: I don't handle my own, somebody else does it for me because I'd be the chick that went down the rabbit hole and they would take every little thing personally.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Like I couldn't do it.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: So far, we haven't had anything that would like because I am I'm very sensitive, so I feel like they say that.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Should we call them on the back of the street?
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Somebody called me Karen a couple weeks ago.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Well Karen, you're your stupid podcast, whatever.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: And I like, I go, thanks for watching.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: And he's like, You'll never end up with my algorithm.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: I'm like, well, I'm on your algorithm.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: We're talking right now.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: You found me somewhere.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: But that's like, you know, you you really have to separate the being an artist from being a human.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Right, you do, and it's you know, it's a it's an art.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: It really is.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: It totally is.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: So besides social media, what else has hugely changed?
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Oh gosh, well, that it's not just radio, right?
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: It's all there's digital.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: When I heard the word the letters, DSPs, I was like, what's that?
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: And so we had to learn all about that, and um just loving that process though, too.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: There's really great benefits to that too.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: So it's just a different world, you know, and that anyone can make music and release it now.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Back then it was just the labels, you know, and the label artists, and now it's beautiful that all of this art can be out and be seen, and um, so there is such a I don't know, it's really it's a wild, wild west too, in some ways.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: It definitely is.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: I think this is a really good time to be in country music.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Like the the world's eyes are on Nashville.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: You know, and I'm understanding that within five or ten years, it's all the like New York and LA and Chicago and Atlanta won't we'll all be here.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: And it's happening even with movies and films TV, like um just it is, it's changing so much.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of sync, people are getting a lot of songs and movies and television, so they're coming here to make the movies, Texas to make the movies.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: I am from Texas.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: I'm from well, I'm from Philadelphia right now, but I'm originally from Texas.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean it's a beautiful thing.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I think it's amazing.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: I really do.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: How do you feel about the women?
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: They're kicking ass in country music right now.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Like this was a good time for you to come back, Mr.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: I didn't even plan it that way, but I'm very thankful to be back.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: You know, it means a lot and it feels good.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: And we have a new single coming out on April 10th called Perfume on the Floor.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: I heard, I'm excited.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: We can drop this around there as soon as we can do it.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love it.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: I can't wait to hear.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a good one.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: I read it with Josh Kerr and Dan Wilson, and they're doing really good.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, Josh just has been working with Russell Dickerson and the Jonas Brothers and just producing hit after hit, song after song, number one function.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: I save my daughter to see the Jonas Brothers.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: I've took my daughter to see the Jonas Brothers.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: I have never heard so much screaming in my life.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: It's kind of the whole time.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: My daughter's 28 now, but I remember they were really big and Taylor Swift in her early career.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: And you know, Bella was probably six or seven.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Right, but you know, we moms, that's what we do.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but you're already a rock star, so like how do you go see another rock star?
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: You're very kind.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: I'm not the Jonas Brothers, although I love that stuff.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: I love the Jonas Brothers, too.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: So great.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: I really do.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Where are you playing?
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Um, right now we're just working behind the scenes on some things.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: You know, this year is the 25th anniversary of What I Really Meant to Say, my single that was on Capital, and that record in general is this is the year, so we've been working really hard.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: We're going into the studio to do some collaborations, one of which will be What I Really Meant to Say.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, we're we'll be playing soon based on that.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: You know, we'll be putting shows together.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: I don't think people know the amount of work it takes to drop one song.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's a lot of work.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of work, it's a lot of money.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a lot of time that you're taking away from being a mom or being a wife or doing whatever.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: I mean, as women, we have multitudes of responsibility.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: We do, we do.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: We don't even sleep.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: So much.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm up in the night going, oh, did I do that?
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Did I do that?
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Did I get the lunch meat for those sandwiches?
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: And then the photo needs to be resized, and we need to put the lyrics on this side.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: It's literally all the time.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, I guess, like you wake up in the middle of the night with a to-do list, you know, and I'm I do it now, and I'm a little tiny cog in this wheel, and it's what do your kids think about you coming back?
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: They love it.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: They've been telling me for a long time.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm a big advocate of follow your dreams and write a vision down, make it plain.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: And when you have vision, you have you know, you get there.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: So both of my kids have been pumping that into them.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: What do you dream about?
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: What do you want to do?
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: We're gonna help you, you know, as parents make that happen.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: And so my parents did that.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: And that's why you were successful.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: I I believe with my whole heart, and I also wanted to be a mom.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, I wanted to be a gardener.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: I did that for a while.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: I wanted to make jewelry, and I'm doing that now.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: It's like, so I really What's the line of jewelry called?
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: It's Haybell Co.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: H A Y B E L L E Co, C O.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: You can see it on Instagram.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: So check her out, check out her website for that.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: I'm sure it's amazing.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: It's so fun.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: I love making it so.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Part of your creative side, I guess, just comes out.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: It does.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: It was a hobby that turned into a business, and now artists like Carly Pierce, Carter Faith, um that is so Lorna Lena.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: You know, it's in the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Laney exhibit.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: She wore one of my necklaces.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: That's so amazing.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: So it's really been a beautiful way to kind of, you know, just the other side of my, I don't know, creativity, like you said, just to be artists are so creative.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I love it.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: I just I can't get enough of it.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: I think that is so amazing, and what a cool legacy piece.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Besides just your music, like what a cool legacy piece that now your stuff is on household names.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: Yes, it's been a blessing.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: It was just kind of by accident, and then I was like, I think we are starting a business to my husband.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: I was like, it's on the red carpets, we gotta figure this out.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: We gotta hurry up.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: So we did it, and I built the website, I take all the pictures, I make all the jewelry.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's been from the scratch, hands-on.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Country music artists don't have a lazy bone in their body.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: I believe that.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm not even kidding.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: The grind.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: This show is two years old, and you know, I've done a lot of interviews, and uh everyone is genuine.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: And I love country music, and I don't think there's a better time to be in country music right now.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: The whole world is into country music, but I don't the grind behind this is crazy.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't think people get that this is really like this is a business.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: It is, and it is a grind, and I I think that you know, as long as you surround yourself, and I've learned this early on back from my time 20 years ago, it's really important to surround yourself with a team that believes in champions and wants it for you just as much as you want.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, and that they're fulfilling their roles.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Like my manager, I I knew her from the past at iHeart and CMA, but when I met her again all these years later, I was like, she's my manager.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: And I didn't know that she wanted to be a manager, yeah, but she has the skills and the insight, and so she keeps things on track.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: I mean, I knew I needed I needed her to make this work because it is such a things have changed.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: Things have changed so much in 20 years.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Like it's a whole different industry.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: That's so true.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: And I really truly believe you're only as good as the people you're surrounded with.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: You know, like there's no way that one person can do every single thing and be good at it.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: You know, so the team is what really makes.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: I say that about my team.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I've got the best in the business.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: I feel really blessed to be working with them.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: It matters so much, it's publicity and social media, my manager.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: Like, we have really honed in the team.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: And now we just you flow.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we know flow is the greatest, like when you're in this industry, like having flow must be like the greatest thing ever.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: It's amazing.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: It's that we're we're kind of in that place right now, and it feels really good.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Does it really?
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Have you ever performed at the Grand Old Lobby?
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: You oh girl.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: Well, and when I came back two years ago, I performed at Vidskill at the Grand Old Lobby.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: He's saying what I really meant to say with me, and then I did it back in my artist days a couple times, so it's it's a beautiful experience.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: Does it still feel like so real to like step right back in?
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: It's I said yes before I heard your question.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: It's just overwhelming on so many levels.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: Like you're just you're you're focused on the moment, what you're doing, and then you look out and you go, I don't want to disappoint.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: I can't mess this up, you know.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: And then just standing behind that Opry mic and then standing with Vince.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: I was like, I I had a moment where I was like, is this happening?
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: And then I was like, get in the game, don't stop and look at you know, get in the game and do this.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: And it was Are you enjoying the process of coming back?
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: I am, I am.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: I think it's really like we rushed to get to a certain level.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, we did it on the show, we rushed to get it to the level, and I think I forgot to enjoy the little moments.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: Well, I think motherhood has taught me that, right?
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: So in stepping back to this, I'm like, and my manager's always keeping me on track with that because we do have to set goals, we do have to have an agenda.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: But if that's all we see and we miss the journey, you're right.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: She's always going, look what happened last night.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: Look at what and I'm like, you're right.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: It is so, yeah.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm a I'm a life coach and I'm also a therapist, and I tell people you know, maybe we can talk about doing the work, you know, and I'm like, don't think of it as work, think of it as a journey.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because that's where everything you'll ever need is right there.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: But I think we're so, you know, now, I mean, you did this 20 years ago, but now that's like they want instant fame.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Well, it's this fast-paced world.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: We've been set up.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: I know, we live it's Amazon, social media, how many likes did I get?
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: We gotta put up another post tomorrow and it's gotta be one minute long.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: And it's like, wait, stop.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: And it has been very hard for me because I'm like, It's been very hard for me too.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: I want to be present here, and I think I like I said, being a mom has definitely and coming back.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: I'm thankful that I've had that experience to go today, this is what I'm gonna choose to do.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna be, you know, with my son today, and I might film something or I don't know.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: It's just it's very important that we stay present, even when we have to do the social media.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: In everything in life, too, because I think you know, you get, you know, even us as interviewers, you know, we're we're here at Kraken John, we're here at the late worries, and then you forget that there's like there's a regular life that's that's going on.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: I love this week in country music though, I have to tell you.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: We sh this our first year was last year, and we I loved it.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're amongst the greats.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: Like you're a legend, so it's it's nice to be.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: You are, you totally are.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: Shenandoah is, they are here.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Yes, I know.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: It's amazing, right?
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Are you gonna go to the parties and the luncheons and stuff?
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: They have great yes, some of those.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: Last night I did the MCA party.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: I actually got up at karaoke and sang what I really meant to say.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: So fun.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Um, so yeah, it's just it is a great week.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: It's been amazing.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: See all the different artists and to connect with old friends.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Like I just had a great conversation in the back um with a friend, and it's just like, wow, it's been 20 years, but so good.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: You don't even look like you could be 20 years old, let alone have done it 20 years old.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: This year I have the biggest birthday, and I am like kind of stressed about it.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, is it 30?
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Yep, 30.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: I rock as 29 every year.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: My husband and my friends put it on.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Happy 29th birthday, Deb.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm gonna do on this case.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: I'm like, this is guess what?
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: This is my life.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: I can be anything I want to be.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: 25 was the year that I was really struggling with 25.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Not 40, but I became a grandmother in 2025.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: Congratulations.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Thanks for naming me.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: It's ridiculous.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: It's her name is Lainey.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: And I have a necklace called the Laney, which I just made.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: I gotta check your stuff out of here.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: I was looking at your ring.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: You would love my stuff.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, I would love it.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, we gotta get together.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: I would love to see it.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: How old is she?
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: Laney will be a year next month, but like talk about like a life changing.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Like, even flying here, like you you're on the grind so much, but I'm like, I gotta like I I don't want I don't want to miss her take a step.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: I don't want to miss her, you know, it's a whole different world.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: And you'll see when it happens.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: Do you have boys, girls, one and each?
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: My daughter's 21 and my son's 17, so he wants a lot of kids, she's like wanting to travel the world and might have a child.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I kind of like that.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: If you're alive now, yeah, it's really good.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: We were talking about this too uh with one of my patients.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: I was explaining that you don't have to be in that box.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: I don't encourage it.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: No, I don't either.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: I like make your own path.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because that's truly the freedom.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Like if you're constantly chasing the mortgage, the house, the Volvo, the whatever, that's you're essentially building somebody else's dream.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: It's true, and I'm like, Bella, this is the time in your life where you can travel and see the world.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: And she just went to Budapest and she went to Hungary and she went to Vienna and she's getting fabrics and she does fashion.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: She's made stuff for Carter Faith and Laney.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: What?
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she started her own company.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: She left college.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: She was like, Mom, this isn't for me.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: I'm like, what do you want to do?
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Let's write it down on paper.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: What do you want?
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: And she just built it.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: It's in my dining room.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: She has a sewing shop in there.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: That is incredible.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm just watching her fly, and I'm like, listen, you can be married.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: How proud are you?
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: I'm so proud.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: I will be at the stove cooking, and I was just telling Morgan, my friend out there, I was like, I'll watch her just in there working and I'll take pictures because I know she's gonna be big one day.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: She's gonna be gonna do it.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: She's gonna be like new, she's gonna be huge.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: Well, and I take these pictures because I'm like, I want to remember her in my little dining room.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: But I'm like, you can only be inspired in here for so much longer.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: So I'm just like in Thanksgiving, we're gonna have to take the table back.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, we've had to do that.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: Mike, you need to shut the shop.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: I gotta duck, I gotta put a turkey on the table.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: Now, where do you do your jewelry in your house?
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: I have an upstairs studio space that I work in.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: That's great.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Two creatives.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: That's so amazing.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: What's your son do?
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: How is high school on soon?
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: Football, he is very good at it.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: South is a big deal.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: He is really good.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: I didn't want him to be really good at it, but he's really good.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: So we're just kind of pouring into him, sending him to camps, and he's got some interests.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: Is this his last year in high school?
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: He is junior, he's gonna be a junior next year.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Two more years.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: And um, so I love it.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna get to watch him just play and blossom and love.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: There is nothing like I don't think anybody can even compare to watching your children turn into people that they were meant to become.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's beautiful.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: It's beautiful.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's like them running towards the corner of a table that you know they're gonna smash their head, but in a good way.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Because they need to feel the new one.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: That if we don't get, and you know that as an artist, if you don't, like you're gonna, there's gonna be some fabulous things, there's gonna be some really shitty things.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: It's important.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: But it's just the way that it runs.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: You're an absolute delight.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: I will come back and you're a full hour interview with us.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: We would love we can talk jewelry.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: We can talk fun.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Therapy.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: I need to.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Oh, girl, girl, I'm telling you.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: And that's people are like, Debs a therapist.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I am.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Well, that's why you're so good at this, right?
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, you know, I'm I do I do work with some artists and help coach them, like the younger ones, how to get into bigger rooms, you know, how to manage money, that kind of stuff.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Um but I'm therapy, I'm in trauma and addiction.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm just heavy.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: It is but beautiful probably because you can get beautiful.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: When I see somebody, and you know, you can kind of attest to this, get step back into the life that was meant for them and the life that they want.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: I mean, if I can do it for free, I will do it for free.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's such a beautiful when when you help facilitate somebody getting their life back, yeah.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: It's total freedom.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: And I'm the biggest cheerleader.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: You'll see.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: Anybody on the show, their family, everybody else comes back, but like it's just it to see that you're not stuck.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Unsticking people is the best job in the world.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: You should write that book, and stuck unsticking people.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: I will.
