All right, well, ready to go. [upbeat rock music] 20 questions [laughs] I know you said it, but I just wasn't ready for it.
• 0:13
[laughs] Well, the way that's cut in there, it just hits right away. Oh, yeah. It's kind of part of the other song, I just edited it so we don't get
• 0:29
ASCAP- or BMI'd our ass out of here. Yeah. Hey, everybody, it's Full Spectrum Cycling. We are doing the s- 304th show this year. Again? Uh, did we do it last week? I think so. Oh.
• 0:44
'Cause it was, like, 304 was the message, right? Like a, like a error message. I don't know. Let's check. Uh- Pretty sure... uh, uh, then it might be 305. 305. If- Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait...
• 0:56
no, last, last week was... [laughs] What the hell? Uh, well, whatever. [laughs] That's one of them. It says, it says 302 here, but that was... Okay, May 1st.
• 1:15
Oh, maybe you're right. Maybe I'm wrong. Yeah, it's 303, which is a different thing. Like you said, 404, and then 404. So you're right, 304. Okay. All right. So yeah, all right. Uh, I, I don't know.
• 1:27
I'm just wondering why [laughs] I'm only seeing 302. Uh, whatever. [laughs] I think it's 304. This is what happens when you do so many of these, you just lose track of time. Yeah, I know.
• 1:38
I was waiting for my little Google document to, uh- This makes me wonder why [laughs]... refresh, refresh itself... maybe it's, maybe this is cached, so I just can't see it. Uh,
• 1:49
we're gonna do a little troubleshooting here while we get the show going. Um, what a weekend, eh? My goodness, yes. I [laughs] I'm kind of just getting sh- the ship is righting itself back- I-...
• 2:01
mentally and physically... I kind of feel the same way. [laughs] Oh, I see what I, I see my genius maneuver here. Let's... I, I called show 303, 302. That's what happened. Ah. It was really 303. Hmm.
• 2:14
Well, you know what? You get what you pay for, folks. Oh, y'all. If you're gonna [laughs] if you're gonna go ahead and complain, send money, and then you can, then you'll have a say in this whole- [clears throat]...
• 2:24
thing here. Um, oh yeah, it says 303 there. Ah, whatever, 3. There. [laughs] Now it says 303, fixed. Um, that's how you do that. I better, I better keep this page open in case we discover more, um,
• 2:40
more [laughs] mistakes and/or errors that I've made while hastily posting the show last week. I didn't even know what was going on on Thursday.
• 2:49
Not a lot where I should've had my head up my ass, but, uh- It was in anticipation of the flurry- Oh, boy... that was the weekend. Well, yeah, f- um, we, we s- we split the venues Friday night.
• 3:02
Uh, yes, and I think there was, like, two others that could have been attended that just didn't.
• 3:07
Well, Wendy, uh, she may have gone for Salford Lad Clubby clubbers too, 'cause she, I think she was a Morrissey/whatever- Smiths... Smiths kind of listener. But, um, I was like, "Do you know who Brett Newski is?"
• 3:21
And she's like, "Yeah." I'm like, "He's at, uh, Falcon Ball today, so you wanna come over there?" And it was, it was good. I- Sure... but it was also 20 bones, so I don't know.
• 3:32
It prevented me from spending money on merch, basically. Well, I just, uh... It was their last show- Oh, yeah... ever. And it, and it does have a- It was their last show ever...
• 3:40
it has a kickass, uh, s- is he doing, like, the- Little Morrissey, "Oh, hello. Heaven's knows I'm miserable now." Is, is he doing the s- is, like, that the Jesus skit he's doing there, you think, or?
• 3:50
Oh, yeah, [laughs] like the, uh, um, like the Josh. Yeah. [laughs] Josh doing, like the- Right... doing the, doing the Christ down the, uh- Yeah... uh, like- But he, look at how narrow his handlebars are.
• 4:00
They're just, like, so old school, just narrowy little- [laughs]... oh, they're so nice, man. Uh, both very good shows. Um, I think I will see Newski again, not probably these guys 'cause that was their last show. Right.
• 4:15
Uh, you won't... Uh, well, they just announced a European tour. Who? Newski. Oh, okay. He's playing in A- [laughs]... he's playing in Appleton sometime before they leave, I think- Is he?... or something.
• 4:27
Or they're going and coming back so swiftly that, uh, with the air travel and all, that maybe they'll make it there and back. I'd like to make sure- There and Back Again- [laughs] I know...
• 4:36
in your, in your- Oh, that was the other-... Hobbit, Hobbit reference... the, uh, Green Bla documentary viewing was at, uh, the film festival on Friday as well. Oh. I think. You did not do that. Nope. Okay. Gotcha.
• 4:48
Or no, that was Wednesday. That was the Wednesday of the Nick Cave show, which, oh, yeah, that was the start of my week of flurry.
• 4:56
Well, that's- Which was like a damn revival tent, which was awesome, but you have to know kind of what you're in for, and if you don't, then you're a little taken aback, as Kim was. Yeah. Like, whoa, what?
• 5:12
But it oscillates between, "Oh, God," you know, to, like, "I put three bullets in the motherfucker's..." [laughs] you know? Like, he goes dark and gnarly. All right. So. Cool. Uh- But that was goodness...
• 5:28
so that was, uh, that was Friday? Well, mine was Wednesday into Friday, and then, yes. Yeah. And we're at Friday. And then Sa- okay, we're, we're at Friday, but we're, we're slithering- We're into Saturday...
• 5:38
slithering into Saturday. Yes. And we're off to the races. Racing sucks, by the by. Yeah. W- where's your- Which was gonna be my derby hat, and then- Yeah... I found this one.
• 5:48
That's a- And it was jaunty enough that I thought I would put it on, and I did, and I w- I would, but it constricts the blood flow to my brain.
• 5:56
It actually, I mean, if it, if it's gonna make you pass out, it does fit my head all right. I, I, I was gonna steal it anyway, but I brought it back just [laughs] in case it was something you were in love with.
• 6:05
Right, right, right. It was sitting on the seat in the van when Wendy moved it at some point. [laughs] She's like, "Why do you have a Derby hat?" I'm like, "Well, uh, it's not mine- [laughs]... so don't worry about it."
• 6:16
[laughs] Um- So that was the start. And there was a nice, a nice mint julep, uh, lovingly made by Rachel. Excuse me. Okay. I mean, with, like, the, uh, crushed ice, bourbon... What is it?
• 6:31
Bourbon, uh- I, I didn't watch the Derby with you, though. No. Right. Okay, good. I'm glad. I, I know where I was. [laughs] A- and then... Yeah Cutting through the fog of the weekend.
• 6:40
Well, it's just, yeah- No, I, I, I get it... it just, it all kind of blended together- Mm-hmm... and we haven't even gotten to Sunday yet. No. Um- And then it was- Where the, where the cycling commences. [laughs] Right.
• 6:50
Well, this all works circuitously there. Right. Uh, in, uh, one of our bicycling friends, uh-huh, there's the tie-in, El Rongo was playing- Yeah... at Sabbatic. Oh, yeah. So all I had to do- That's fantastic...
• 7:05
all I had to do was sit around and wait for them, and then they were... Uh, the person that they were doing the show for wanted them to go on as soon as they could. Okay. Which was like, oh, okay, even better.
• 7:16
You know, 'cause, like, oh, is this gonna be a, uh- Wait till 11:00 kind of a situation? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No. And I think that's kinda what they thought might occur, but not really.
• 7:28
Yeah, 'cause I was texting him, like, "When do they go on?" You're like, "Very, very soon." I'm like, "I'll be down there very, very shortly- [laughs]... because, um- It was, yeah.
• 7:35
But yeah, they, like, uh, he had, uh, texted, uh, Wizard Kevin, another Milwaukee cyclist- Yes... and music aficionado. And it was like, oh, wait, 8:00, 8:00 to 10:00.
• 7:48
It's gonna be like a, you know, circle, Circle A rules, where it was regimented and you had till... It was 8:00 till 10:00, and that maybe after it bleed over for one tune. Yeah. And then a DJ takes over, but- Right.
• 8:00
Yeah, for sure. [clears throat] Uh- They were awesome, and Resurrectionists right after them, they were insanely good for being a band I had not heard of. Yeah. Uh, i- if J- Jeff's listening and/or Mars, I...
• 8:12
It was the best I've heard, especially the vocals- Oh... part of the band sound. Whoever was mixing really put- Richie... put Jeff front and center.
• 8:21
And whatever system they have at Sabbatic is better than your average Joe on doing that part of the thing, because I could actually hear the lyrics and- Mm-hmm...
• 8:31
maybe they wanna be buried and mumbly normally, but it was good. It w- it sounded to me more like an album mix- For sure... than, than a live mix, you know? Understood, yeah. Yeah.
• 8:41
So, but- No, I followed, yeah, completely. So yeah, so that was, that was, that was Saturday then. Yes. And then, hey, the- The big, the big day, the big, uh, and why I didn't... Sorry, guys out there in Osage.
• 8:54
This was, uh, my bad for not remembering that, uh, May the 4th be with you was River West 24 registration day. So that was a start at 9:30-ish, and then
• 9:13
I... So I was- [laughs]... I was, uh, I was filming some stuff because the line for registration went from
• 9:19
the garage door at Black Husky across Bremen, down the block all the way to Fratney, and then around the corner and halfway down Fratney. It was long. That was the VIP, right? That was the VIP line. Yeah.
• 9:30
That's if you had volunteered in the past, which is- Right... what now VIP comes to mean, not very important people anymore. Mm-hmm. Well done. Right?
• 9:38
So, uh, I- [laughs] So I was doing some B-roll kind of stuff to, you know, potentially do a documentary on this thing sometime down the road and, and just collecting up footage of odd stuff. And,
• 9:49
and, uh, I think I passed Bob Dumke a couple times in line and he- Right on... and he, and he gave me a beer hand up while I'm walking by. [laughs] I'm like, "Right on, Bob," you know? Nice.
• 9:58
Um, yeah, and Hunter was selling the, the remains of the MMI T-shirts, and he also had a couple of hams for the old, uh, the old camera guy, so. Awesome. Awesome.
• 10:08
So that got the day rolling pretty, pretty quick there- Nice, yes... before noon. Yeah. [laughs] I woke up nice and early, and then I fell asleep almost immediately.
• 10:16
[laughs] I d- And then I woke up, and then I was like, "Oh, shit, that's going on. I gotta get up and..." Well, it turned out- By, by the time I got there, they were already done with the lottery. Yeah.
• 10:28
So I was like, "Oh, okay." I, I kind of wondered. I didn't... I, I mean, I don't remember the lottery being very prominent- Right... anyway, but I do remember the day being completely blue bird.
• 10:39
It was, like, the best day. Mm. And, uh, I... we did sit on the, on the Black Husky patio there- [laughs] Yeah, with Steve's daughter- With the-... whittling... so, right, yeah. Dangerously whittling.
• 10:49
Yeah, with my finger getting perilously close to the- Yeah. [laughs] And it wasn't just like a whittling knife, it was like a razor knife. Box cutter, yeah. A box cutter, yeah. [laughs] Just like, shit.
• 10:58
And then she's getting all stabby with it and stuff. I'm like, "Maybe that's where your stabby drink came f- drink came from." I wouldn't doubt it. I wouldn't doubt it. Uh-huh.
• 11:05
So, uh- [laughs] But I was kind of facing east, and the sun is meandering its way across the southern part of the sky. And next thing, [laughs] Wendy's like, "What happened to your face? It's all red on that side."
• 11:16
I go, "That's called sunburn, right?" [laughs] Oh, like 50/50 bar, like- Well, it w-... Close Encounters of- Yeah, it wasn't-... Third Kind...
• 11:21
it wasn't quite that bad, but it was like I just happened to be sitting facing almost due east in the- Mm-hmm... in the patio and... Yeah, so that's why... And that's, you know, somewhat mitigated, but...
• 11:33
[laughs] Uh, so there it is. Uh, I... Next year I would be surprised that if you don't volunteer this year for the River West 24, you will not be getting in. They... Well, th- there were floating posts- Yeah...
• 11:46
back and forth. Well, when I, when I talked to Mr. Zahn, who is head of, head of, uh, registration, he said, "Eh, very likely some people are gonna be disappointed this year."
• 11:57
But I think they gave people a pass this year and kind of made an allowance, but next year, if you don't volunteer this year... And it's, you're... two hours. Just volunteer.
• 12:08
Come up, hang out for the event, learn what it's all about if you haven't done it before. Volunteer-
• 12:14
For something, uh, uh, you know, a, a, a bonus checkpoint, you check people, make sure they do the, do the deed that the checkpoint is for, and then send them on their way.
• 12:24
Or there's many other tasks to volunteer for, and if you do that, guaranteed an entry next year. And stand in line. And you can stand in... [laughs] Which, to be f- to be fair, it went remarkably fast, I thought. Okay.
• 12:40
[laughs] I just, it just, I, I, my, my head just spins a little bit. Yeah. I, I mean, you don't... Okay. No, I break it down and my logic just works in- Right... an odd way on this one. I get you.
• 12:51
It, it- But here- I mean, no, I mean, my hand's getting forced, so I'll have to volunteer with Noodles or something. Right. But just, uh, uh, know this, that there is no requirement that you register to do the event.
• 13:02
You may come. Well, yes. You may ride your bike. It's a city. You can ride on whatever street you want. Plus- But for this is what I will do this year. Yes, you can also- Because I did not get my ticket...
• 13:12
you can also- Or multiple tickets... do whatever checkpoint you wanna do without having registered. There is no requirement for registration. Right.
• 13:18
The only reason to register is to prove to your stupid friends that you beat them at this event. Yeah. Unless you wanna, unless you wanna go for the, the gusto,
• 13:28
uh, doing all the checkpoints is gonna be mandatory to actually placing for a second or third. This, this is not a race, folks. It's a community building event. Unless... [laughs] Unless... No. [laughs] Unless.
• 13:41
The 36 bonus checkpoints you'll have to do, uh, will be definitely mandatory to place well. Or you could just burn some laps off and have fun and stop at your friend's house, 'cause it's a big party.
• 13:52
It's, yeah, a 24-hour block party. Exactly. With- With-... a neighborhood... with a- Multi- multi-block party... with a 4 1/2 mile course too, which is pretty cool. So that's the Riverwest 24 registration.
• 14:05
Did anything else happen [laughs] that night that I forgot about? No. No, I, I went back to Falcon Bowl and returned to the scene of the crime.
• 14:12
But, other than that, no, I think that was, that was a long enough weekend right there. But it did segue into, uh, Cinco de Mayo [laughs] on Monday, too. Oh, I, I can't even wrap my brain around.
• 14:24
[laughs] Like, oh, now let's do this- There was... No... for the... I'm just like, I just need to rehydrate and recalibrate. Yeah, I just happened to know. I didn't w- But- I didn't do anything, uh,
• 14:34
festive on Cinco de Mayo, but it was the day. Sure. Right on. Well, that's that. Uh, we've been riding up the hill the whole time, so [bell ringing] ding-a, ding-a, dingy.
• 14:46
See that, uh, Schlick Cycles on there on the north pawn that side? [bell ringing] Speaking of Schlick Cycles, I did see Mr. John Schlick today, or yest- two days ago, whatever. Yesterday? I don't know when it was.
• 14:58
It was Wednesday. That's what it was. 3:02. [laughs] 3:03. Yeah. Yeah, so, uh, he's, he's, uh, back in town for the, for the summer, and I...
• 15:10
He's cleaning out his garage because they're gonna sell their primary residence up here and buy a primary residence where they're moving to. And he had some old Schlick Cycles history, I guess you'd say.
• 15:26
He had the first wooden mockup he made. Huh. Which was quite interesting, [laughs] just to kind of proof of concept out the size of the thing. It was never made into something you can ride.
• 15:37
And then he had the very first frame that was welded up by some friend of his. Not a frame builder, it was just kind of like, let's go get some conduit and make this thing- Er, z-...
• 15:45
and see if we can figure out how to make the seat arc work and stuff like that. And in the course of testing and riding, it kind of bent a couple spots.
• 15:53
Well, we're gonna go ahead and reinforce it over here a little bit, this and that. So, um, but again, with the documentaries, I, we, uh, we need to save this stuff
• 16:04
because there's a lot of history behind the Schlick Cycles Shark, which is what this bike was. Ah. Which there are still a couple sitting in the other room. Awesome. Uh, hanging from the ceiling? Well, one of them is.
• 16:16
Okay. That was, that was the one that Sydney, my daughter, rode when she was little because it would have to be a five-foot tall, 80 pound person to ride that one, too.
• 16:23
[laughs] Uh, later on, though, they got very strong, so, uh, Waterford made some of them, Tom Teasdale made some of them. Sweet. And, uh, there, there's... Now, okay, so this is gonna move into
• 16:35
point number six on the, uh, talking smack list or whatever it is. Do I have to count the bullet point? Oh, let's talk about the beer first, though, since we did ring the bell. Ah.
• 16:44
Uh, Michael made the, made the New Glarus, uh, Moon Man purchase. We haven't had this for a long time. No. Um- It's after the, uh, whatever it was next door, the, the Copper Harb- what is that stuff called?
• 16:55
Goat Rodeo- The Ro- the Rodeo thing. Goat Rodeo Copper, I believe. This is sweeter. Yes. It's, it's quite s- and, and I think it's fairly broadly distributed. You can probably get it in your neck of the woods.
• 17:06
As a matter of fact, there was some big old beer brew- You can overpay for it over at the Bot Stop- [laughs]... if you're in [laughs] southern Wisconsin area. Oh, yeah. Oh, really? Nice. Well...
• 17:17
Six bucks, eight bucks, nine bucks, $10. Well, for a 12 pack. Oh, this was surprisingly affordable. They'd be like f- I, I would not doubt that they would say, like, 40 bucks. Holy crap. No, I mean, it's...
• 17:30
'Cause they do it as, like, a weird, uh, merch store- Oh, okay... kinda thing. Well, I don't know what a No Coast Pale Ale is, but this is it. Must mean that they're in Wisconsin and- Yeah...
• 17:40
there is No Coastal area there. By New Glarus. Um, I'm sure we've had it. New Glarus is a really cool spot to ride because it's quite hilly and very s- picture-esque. With no coasts. No coasts, apparently. See? Kinda.
• 17:53
You don't coast. Well, down the hills you do. Right.
• 17:55
Uh, so New Glarus also participated in some, over there in the European area, I don't know if it was Belgium or somewhere, beer contesty thing, and their, I think one of their stouts won a, won a silver or something.
• 18:10
Right on. Or I don't know. You know what, maybe that wasn't New Glarus. New Glarus had... Whatever.
• 18:13
They, so New Glarus had some beers that won, and Earth Rider had, I think Earth Rider Stout was one of the ones that won. But anyway, Wisconsin beers ain't no joke, people. Yeah.
• 18:23
That's why, yeah, that's why, like, people want, like, they try doing, like, Smokey and the Bandit runs. Like, "Ugh, I can't get my Spotted Cow." Spotted Cow is like the mm-mm. Yeah. Whatever.
• 18:33
Uh, I got suckered into one of them somewhere recently. Y- well- And I'm like, eh... I mean, given, given that or a Busch Light or a Miller Lite, y- you know. Well- I'll go with the Spotted Cow. Okay.
• 18:44
But what about the Miller Lite coming out in the gold cans now, 'cause it's the 50th anniversary? Still not the Spotted Cow. 50th. Don't care. 50th. Don't care. What if it's a solid gold can? Don't care.
• 18:53
And then you would, you know... You know what gold's worth now? Oh. $3,500 an ounce. If it was a solid gold can this big, that thing would weigh about a pound and a half.
• 19:03
Well, I didn't know how solid gold you were talking. Well, I don't know if it's- I didn't know if you were doing the- I don't know if it's solid gold... the show Solid Gold or the- [laughs] Just that there's- You know...
• 19:11
for the 50th anniversary of Miller Lite, there is a gold can apparently. I've, I've still- I don't know that it's- I still have, I- I don't, it's not like a golden ticket, you know?
• 19:19
Well, I still have hold, held, holden, holden. I've still holded on. Hold- [laughs] That's what you said. I've still held on to, uh, the 12-pack from Narragansett with the, um, the jaws- Oh... logo on it. Right on.
• 19:34
And they c- they come out with it every damn year, but it's just, it's in a corner of the den that, inobtrusive, so it's- Yeah, but you're not gonna drink it now. It's been up there for a while.
• 19:46
No, it's just the, it's just the- Oh, it's just this thick. This is, this is the cardboard. [laughs] Oh, that's... [laughs] The beer has already been consumed. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. All right.
• 19:52
It was on our show, I believe. So we were talking about the Shark, uh, and then we talked about the beer and- I just did. Boom. The Narragansett with the shark. See? It all comes back. Right. And then the...
• 20:02
[laughs] Yeah, it does. Yeah. And then the beer is in the New Glarus, and not that far from the New Glarus is Bangor, Wisconsin, where Wyatt Bicycles is located. Ah, yeah.
• 20:12
And so w- what I was gonna get to was we've approached Wyatt to build an electric version of the Shark, and recently he came up with a bike for another, uh, collaborative effort with another place that's targeted at hunters.
• 20:25
It's a fat bike called the MAV Hunt. Uh, [laughs] see, be careful how you say that. Yeah. And, uh, it is a, it's a, it's an electric fat bike, 160 newton-meter motor, which is quite t- torquey. And a five sp- Robust...
• 20:42
five-speed automatic hub, 4.8-inch tires, with a nice, uh, some kind of foam liner so when you're out there in the corn field and you get poked through your tire, your tires don't go flat.
• 20:53
Um, much, very much made for hunters and outdoor adventurers, uh, and it's specifically targeted through the other company, I think, at these people. But my point here is that the drivetrain of that would be spectacular
• 21:06
on a Shark. On a Shark. So now that he has the experience with that, making a Shark is gonna be pretty easy, so we're gonna see if we can figure out how to do that after,
• 21:16
after I pay off some debts from building this podcast studio, which is- But speaking of which, I just noticed... Oh, no, you do have wires. What? I was gonna say you got no wires. But, no, you do. Wire?
• 21:27
I didn't see a wire. Oh, from the he- from the, from the head- Headset... got a wire. Yeah, wireless headphones are bad- Yeah... 'cause they have latency, people. Mm-hmm. Gotta plug your stuff in. All right.
• 21:38
Plug it in, bro. Just making sure. Yeah. And now- Test. Test. I just, I just have them on for effect. I can't hear jack shit through these things. [laughs] Uh, so hopefully... And anyway, check out the MAV Hunt.
• 21:48
I think it's pretty cool. We did post a video of it. Be careful how you say it. Yes. Could be Manhunt. That's what it was corrected to. Oh. But it could go a different way too. [laughs] Right.
• 21:58
Well, yeah, that was, like, the, uh, on Satur- well, going back in time, the Saturday on the Boogie Bang Gang. You gotta be careful saying that quick 'cause- Again?... uh, somebody wasn't and said it quick.
• 22:14
And like, and like, "Yeah, we're bringing out some of the volunteers." [laughs] And it was like the Boogie Gang Bang. [laughs] And it was like, whoa. Wait. And like- Well, pledge-... this is floating out there.
• 22:24
And I'm like, I, yeah, I would do that. I would totally flub that up... so I don't know when it ends. Does it end Friday, pledge time? Uh, WMSC pledge time- Yeah...
• 22:32
if you listen to the radio station in your far-fetched, far-flung area, [laughs] or your far-fetched area for that matter.
• 22:40
Uh, they, the, e- because they're doing the pledge drive, I think there's not a lot of, uh, seven-second button pushing, and there's been some things that have gotten through the- Sure. Oh, yeah.
• 22:51
There, there's some thing, you're like, "Whoa. [laughs] Hey, how's it going?" Um, you might, you might get that if you're listening to it on the old interwebs or whatever. I may throw some money tomorrow. May? Ah.
• 23:03
I, this year I'm poor, so I'm gonna stick with my 40 bucks a month and call it a day. Understood. I'm, I just have to do the obligatory 666. Oh, there you go. Right on. Von Bondmons, just to, just to do it.
• 23:16
Uh, so happy birthday Garrett on, uh, Friday. That'd be tomorrow, May 9th. May the 9th be with you. Um- Go Garrett...
• 23:24
which coincidentally is the start of the, the Euro- Euro Giro d'Italia bicycle race that goes from the 9th all the way through the 1st of June. It's sort of like the Tour de France of, uh, Italy there.
• 23:37
It's one of the, one of the Grand Tours. I guess you can watch it on Max, the old HBO- [laughs]... now rebranded to Max. Mm-hmm. Three, three letters HBO, three letters Max. Don't know why they'd change it.
• 23:50
Not sure what that's all about, but they did, and that's where you can watch it. But if you wanna watch the Tour de France a month later, you're gonna have to get your, uh, Peacock. I got the Peacock.
• 24:01
So they can't- I got the Peacock for a year. Why can't they get all this crap on one channel? I gotta... I guess you could just do it for a month and get rid of it if that's your full goal. I get, I, I- But that said-...
• 24:11
I got the Peacock until, uh, Thanksgiving. Okay. Well, then you get all your bike, all, you got all your Grand Tours then. I can share mine. 'Cause you'll get through the, the, whatever the n- the last one is too. Uh-
• 24:25
All right. Uh, da, da, da, da, doom. Oh, I had to pull this up because I didn't even look at it ahead of time. Did you do the Bluelug thing or was that, uh- The what? The Bluelug Coma lights. No.
• 24:36
They're pretty co- uh, Tony must be- Oh, uh- Tony must be throwing stuff in. [laughs] Is Tony throwing stuff in? I don't know. It's a little tiny light that you- I looked at the light. Oh.
• 24:45
I didn't, I didn't enter it, just- Oh, okay. Well, it, it's a little tiny light, little tiny, bright light. It goes right on one of your maybe f- uh, f- lower fender mounts on the rear of your bike, uh- Oh, yeah...
• 24:56
that's very cool. It's 30 bucks. Guess you can buy one if you want. That's 30 bucks in yesterday's tariff-free dollars. I don't know what the- [laughs]... tariff is gonna do to that.
• 25:05
Boy, I don't know if I mentioned this last week, but there's, uh, eh, I guess there's always doom and gloom in the cycling industry because now it's... I talked to some, uh,
• 25:16
former advertisers because guess what people are not doing right now? Advertising on- [laughs]... theoldfatbike.com 'cause of the budgets and the tariffs, and they know what's going on.
• 25:24
But they said they had a couple of containers sitting over in China, getting ready to come over here and sell to these fine, uh, Caucasian folks here in the States, but they're not gonna bring them over now 'cause they don't know what's gonna happen, so they're just gonna let them sit there- Mm...
• 25:37
until something is certain, so. And they're also not hiring any, you know, uh, they're not hiring any ph- photographers to take product shots. They're not hiring any marketing firms to do PR.
• 25:49
They're not doing any advertising on theoldfatbike.com. They're just doing a wait and see thing, and in doing this they're hoping not to have to raise prices as much.
• 26:01
Because if they still kept the same budgets they had before, they'd be in for a, a horrendously large increase in what you find people pay for your overseas-made cycling accessories and/or bikes or whatever.
• 26:16
Even- I'll, I'll do my, my best impression of the smug t- treasury secretary. Oh, tariff shouldn't be anything. Yeah. [laughs] You see how those tariffs- When I remember, remember... affect you folks.
• 26:33
Uh, so that thing- Oh, yes... I guess that thing right now, I mean, their... Bluelug is, I think it's a Japanese collaboration with Velo Orange or something. Uh, so the... What's this, Golden Globes podcast category?
• 26:45
What? It's beginning. Starting next year. Hey, nominate the old Full Spectrum Cycling is what we're thinking here. Allegedly, uh, from what I read it was, like, the, the consideration is the top 25.
• 26:57
I have no idea what metrics they're using by that. Well. Whatever. They haven't d- Top 25 coolest? Like- They haven't put any details whatsoever, but they have offered it that that will be a category, uh, allegedly.
• 27:11
Well- Whatever. So hey. All right... good for everybody. Well, you know who to vote for. I mean, all 52 of you that might be listening right now.
• 27:20
[laughs] Oh, no, that's my, that's the score that pa- well, it's not a very good score. Somebody should do a better SEO job on this page.
• 27:28
On the other hand, you know what, we just do content that's good and we don't really care too much about SEO. Well- Oh, look what we covered last week. There's a lot of good stuff on there, I'm going through the list.
• 27:38
[laughs] Coming up here on June 14th, Fat Tire Tour of Milwaukee, that's not a bad event to come and hang out for and- It's coming up quick. Yeah. Isn't it, though? It's not even a month away.
• 27:47
I mean, May is already starting to slip through my fingers. I do not wanna hear- I can't, I can't have another weekend... I don't wanna hear about- I can't have another weekend like last weekend.
• 27:54
[laughs] No, that's- I, I lost time. I lost the weekend plus three days. [laughs] Well, it's also, you know, trying to get the...
• 28:01
I've been doing a bunch of work on this podcast studio here because I was talking to Mr., my friend Mr. GPT.
• 28:08
Was talking about all the disparate businesses that are kind of running through this building, fatbike.com, Everyday Cycles, Full Spectrum Cycling and- Hello, Dave... the podcast studio. Guess what Mr. GTP says?
• 28:21
A, bike shop's stupid. B, Full Spectrum Cycling, not enough people. C, fatbike.com, hobby business at best anymore. And D, podcasting's where it's at, man. Throw all your effort behind that thing.
• 28:35
There's plenty of people doing them and plenty of corporate entities spending money, and get your fucking studio going is what, what my friend Mr. GPT said. That's right, Dave. Yeah. [laughs] So
• 28:46
it's not that I didn't already know it, it was just like- Daisy... he's conf- he's confirming- Daisy... that guy. Confirming what I already knew... how you love me do. [laughs] All right.
• 28:58
Uh, I don't know if there's anything else on this list. The MavHomie, talked about that. That's pretty cool. You should check out the link for that. Oh. Death of a Stalica Slight Institution.
• 29:08
I don't know about an institution, but- Well, apparent- yeah, that was the one where the owner was a complete knob for. Oh, dude. Um, so I saw some of the footage. [laughs] Uh, of the alleged event? No, no, no.
• 29:21
Of, uh, the, um- Oh, where, I thought you were- No, of, of, of the license revocation- Oh, okay... hearing. And he just had a shit bucket hack. And I swear, I, uh, on first v- like viewing, I'm like, "Is he wearing
• 29:36
like rebel flag Confederate shorts?" Under his other shorts? No. Oh. Just shorts. And I'm like, "Oh, my God." If any- It wasn't, but it looked- If anywhere- It, it looked very close...
• 29:48
if anywhere it would be Stalica probably. Yeah. Sorry, guys. But it, the way that everything went down, yeah. So they let their license go. Well, it's not the only institution that's gone that I guess- No...
• 29:59
the, the boat's out of the water. The boat is. [laughs] I was watching that live feed all day long. I don't know how many people tuned into that feed. I wish people- A lot...
• 30:07
across the world would crash the servers at TMJ4 or whoever was live- It was like-... live streaming it... like each one I, I saw, each live stream I saw was in the, like about 300s to 400s.
• 30:19
[clears throat] I saw Simon Bedo, Simon Beno chime in. I'm like, "Oh, Simon. Hello, Simon." [laughs] Hello, Simon. Simon lives on the block from me and I don't even see him there.
• 30:28
I saw him on- online watching the, uh, the boat. So- It was just kind of on in the background. I was doing some other stuff and kinda glancing over. Not much was happening.
• 30:37
You would barely think it was live if you didn't see the odd person move around. Right 'Cause it didn't move for a long time. Uh, but then I did something for 20 minutes, came back, and it was already up on the rocks.
• 30:49
So I didn't see the actual big move. Right. I saw the pivot, and then it was there, and then- I wanted them to do the flip, psh. I thought they were gonna flip it. [laughs] Flip it for real.
• 30:59
Coming back to, uh, f- [laughs]... usual subject. Flip it for real. I flip ya. I flip you for real. 'Cause that, somebody said that, like they'll poke it right into the,
• 31:08
into the rocks and then winch it from the back, psh- Oh... and then flip it right over. That wouldn't have been a bad maneuver. May have probably would've taken a hell of a lot less time than what they did. Yeah.
• 31:19
I just, I, well, anyway. [clears throat] So our, our beloved SS Minnow is now... Somebody was saying that they should put that in a- I know exactly where it is. I found out it- Put it in the Milwaukee Public Museum...
• 31:29
I found out- As it kinda goes- Uh, part, yeah, they're gonna, like, it's gonna be there for a few months. [laughs] And people are gonna try to figure out what parts they want.
• 31:39
I just thought it would've been a good idea just to leave it where it was, encase it in concrete like a sarcophagus, and, uh, just leave it there forever. [laughs] But not alas- Yeah...
• 31:51
my i- Just bleed, bleed all the lines. Just take- Yep... out the wiring- Yep. Yep... and da, da, da, da, da, yeah. I think that would've worked out fine. I think it would've been fine. But, uh, what are you gonna do?
• 32:03
Well, I guess what we're gonna do is show- Yell at the cloud We're gonna do show 305 next week. Probably won't be- 305 Probably won't be as confused as this week, I hope... doo, doo, doo, doo, 305.
• 32:13
I'll get it down, doo, doo. So thank you everybody for listening. Shannon, uh, thanks for, thanks for chatting on the phone the other day, Shannon. We talked about RC rock crawling.
• 32:24
Apparently they got a, they got a big thing going down there where, where Shannon lives with the, the little rock crawlers. And he and his- Hmm... I think it's his brother, they're gonna come up here.
• 32:33
I got one that they wanna buy. I'm like, "Cool." [laughs] I, I'm sticking with a couple that I like, and that one is a, it's a Bronco. It's pretty cool.
• 32:42
But anyway, uh, Shannon, you're probably listening to this on your way to work, 'cause you work third shift, and that's what you do. Or maybe swing shift, it probably is.
• 32:50
Seven to whatever, that'd be a swing shift, I think. Hmm. Versus third shift from 11 to, uh, early morning. But anyway, there you go. Uh, I kind of miss third shift. I loved my third shift job when I was- Yeah...
• 33:01
going to college. Man, dude. Toys R Us. They had a third shift job at s- oh, probably stocking. Yeah. Or stalking. It was awesome. If that's the case, maybe. Dude, it was like career opportunities. They locked you in.
• 33:14
Oh, nice. Yeah, yeah, I forgot about. So, so- So you didn't, so you didn't abscond with all the stuff? [laughs] No, so you just can, yeah, go inside, outside or, yeah, exactly.
• 33:23
And so, yeah, we just went to the front of the store to smoke. [laughs] How many, how many- It was like, it was- How many t- I'm like, I'm smoking inside of Toys R Us.
• 33:31
There's something just- How many times did you, like-... so beautiful... get a baseball bat from the sporting goods section and just smack Jeffrey in the head all the time? [laughs] I had to work the baby doll aisle.
• 33:41
Oh, geez. With all the powders. Even more ripe. So I smelled of baby powder, like constantly. Even more rife with possibilities for hitting things with bats. Yeah.
• 33:49
Uh, I made good, I made good with my, uh, 'cause it was f- shortly after radio days. And I'm just like, "Dude, I-" Oh, wow, that was kind of a downgrade, wasn't it? Oh, hell yeah.
• 33:59
[laughs] But I was like, I'm like, "Dude, I can call this guy up and, you know, get it in." [laughs] And it was, it was like, if I, uh, call and get Die, Die My Darling. Oh, right.
• 34:11
And then he was like, "Uh, no, I just played, I just played some Metallica." I guess that was the only thing we had available was their version of Misfits. And I'm just like, "Okay, how about Godzilla?"
• 34:23
[laughs] My lawyers are called, and he's like, "I can do this." Right. And I was like, "All right. But Godzilla's coming on in 20 minutes."
• 34:28
And then it came on, and I had all street cred on the third shift Toys R Us crew. Yeah, we got the old- [laughs] We're like, "What?" It's like the, the great kazoo or kazoo or whatever the, what was his name? Carson. Uh,
• 34:44
uh, Car- uh, Carnac? No, not Carnac. Whatever one McMahon would ask him questions. "Uh, yes." Oh, goddamn. [laughs] I had, like, there was like four pop culture references hitting me- Right... at the same time.
• 34:55
I don't think I can keep going with this. We'll, we'll continue- All right, yes. [laughs] We'll continue this next week. I only need 305. Well, actually we pretty could do it, but anyway, so bye.
• 35:08
