- 0:15Five minutes past the hour. Good Morning Show with Preston Scott. I'm Preston.
- 0:20That's Grant running the program. Thursday, October fifth, Day nine eighty
- 0:25eight of America held a hostage day fivey twenty one of this radio program.
- 0:31It's great to be with you. I'm Preston, and I'm delighted to have
- 0:35back with us. It's been a few years since we had Brandon Strock on
- 0:39the program. The first time I had Brandon on the show was shortly after
- 0:44the startup of something called the walk Away Campaign. And if you followed my
- 0:48blog at all over the years, you know, for as long as Brandon
- 0:53has started this endeavor to try to help people see what's happening inside the Democrat
- 1:00Party, the hard swing to the left, the liberal movement of the left,
- 1:04you know that I have been posting testimonials and stories about the effort.
- 1:10And it's great to have Brandon back on the show. Brandon, how are
- 1:12you hey there? I'm jan Well, how are you. I'm doing terrific.
- 1:15I want to start at the beginning point, give people kind of the
- 1:21cliff notes version of how this all started for you, you know, take
- 1:26us back to the election of twenty sixteen. Yeah, so you know,
- 1:33I'm a lifelong Democrat. I was a two time Obama voter and was very
- 1:38much looking forward to Hillary Clinton becoming our next president. I was firmly behind
- 1:45her, and honestly didn't really think there was much of a chance at all
- 1:48that she would not be elected, because of course, that's what the media
- 1:52that I had trusted my entire life was telling me. And so went in
- 1:56cast my vote for Hillary Clinton in twenty sixteen, and then obviously was shocked
- 2:01at how the election turned out, and I mean truly did kind of go
- 2:07into shock, and it was kind of a you know, a combination of
- 2:12emotions and reactions. I mean, I was angry, I was outraged.
- 2:15I was very very scared that Donald Trump had been elected. And again mostly
- 2:21because once again, you know, the media that I trusted, had you
- 2:24been saying that this was a rise in bigotry and white supremacy and racism and
- 2:31all of these things that I believed all of it. I thought it was
- 2:36true. And so you know, I spent several weeks after Donald Trump was
- 2:39elected just being absolutely miserable and totally confused and upset, and so I kind
- 2:46of made this decision that I needed to try to understand how this happened.
- 2:53And my journey was never about trying to like Donald Trump or his supporters or
- 2:59be okay with it. I just wanted to try to understand it. And
- 3:02I wanted to try to understand how the media that I trusted was saying that
- 3:07he had like a three percent chance of winning. How did they get it
- 3:09so wrong? And so I started going on this sort of journey of research
- 3:14to figure that out. But there was this final straw moment for me where
- 3:19I had gone on Facebook in January of twenty seventeen and posted something, you
- 3:24know, about how I would never understand how anybody could vote for a man
- 3:29who was capable of mocking a reporter's disability. And that's when somebody reached out
- 3:36to me privately. A soft Christian conservative who I've known my entire life reached
- 3:39out to me privately and said, you know, I'm not trying to start
- 3:43a fight with you. I'm just asking have you seen this? And she
- 3:46sent me a link to a video that was entitled debunking that Trump mocked the
- 3:51disabled reporter, and I watched the video, which was a compilation of footage
- 3:57that showed very clearly and tellingly that that day when Donald Trump was accused of
- 4:02mocking a reporter's disability, he was engaging in kind of a gesture and a
- 4:08bit that he's done many times throughout the years when he was imitating anybody who
- 4:14was flailing because they were caught in a lie. And that day at his
- 4:17rally, he was imitating somebody who happened to be disabled, but he wasn't
- 4:21making fun of that person's disability, but the fact that that person who was
- 4:25disabled was caught in a lie. And it was the first time that my
- 4:29eyes started to be opened to the reality that I had been trusting a very
- 4:34dishonest media system that was manipulating the truth and at times blatantly fabricating things that
- 4:43did not happen, and being, you know, engaging in very deceptive practices.
- 4:47So over the next couple of months, I really dug into that,
- 4:51and I ultimately came to realize that it was not Donald Trump that was my
- 4:57enemy. It was the media that I had been trust and that was kind
- 5:01of what, you know, ultimately made me walk away from the Democratic Party.
- 5:04And then the next thing was that I decided to take a lot of
- 5:06people with me on the journey. Like being told what to believe by the
- 5:11liberal media. Get a refreshing dose of truth. It's the Morning Show with
- 5:15Trustin Scott on news Radio one hundred point seven WFLA, eleven minutes past the
- 5:25hour of the Morning Show with Drustin Scott. Walkaway campaign dot com is a
- 5:31website where you can learn, you can support the movement. I will be
- 5:35very transparent with you and tell you after I met Brandon on the show and
- 5:41after I learned about what they were doing, I've supported this program for many
- 5:45years. I'm not right now, but it's not because of anything that they've
- 5:50done or have done. It's just resources get limited in times like we're in
- 5:56because of Joe Biden. But Brandon is his spear. I had a movement,
- 6:00But Brandon I mentioned the cost detailed just a little bit of that kind
- 6:03of what you observed as you started kind of sharing what you were learning with
- 6:09others. Oh well, so there have been many costs. I thought we
- 6:15were talking about a different kind of cost. But yeah, the cost back
- 6:18then was really the loss of friends, yea, and sort of the life
- 6:24that I knew. So yeah, I mean around the time that I started
- 6:30sort of waking up, speaking out about it, asking questions. The cost
- 6:33at that time was that fellow friends, liberals, coworkers, even going back
- 6:39to people that I knew my entire life, going back to elementary school,
- 6:43started turning on me. And I mean it was very swift, and it
- 6:46was very obvious and extreme. You know, I stopped getting invited to parties,
- 6:53people stopped returning my phone calls and text messages, People start speaking out
- 6:58against me on social media. And it was and not just it wasn't even
- 7:04necessary. It was so extreme that at times it wasn't even honest. You
- 7:08know, I had people that I thought were my friends going on social media
- 7:13saying that I was having a nervous breakdown, that I was, you know,
- 7:17that I joined a cult, that I was drinking and doing drugs and
- 7:21all of these different things. And you know, people know I've been sober
- 7:25for over eight and a half years, So it was vicious, and I
- 7:30would estimate that over the course of the next year, I lost about ninety
- 7:32percent of my friends. And that is kind of the thing that led me
- 7:36to It was almost a year after I made the decision to walk away from
- 7:41the Democratic Party and start to be a little bit outspoken about it. It
- 7:45was almost entirely a year later before I put out a six minute video where
- 7:49I detailed all of the reasons why I was walking away from the Democratic Party
- 7:54and started the walk Away campaign. And the reason why I put that video
- 7:59out in the initially was because so many people had were turning on me and
- 8:03being so nasty that it almost gave me, you know, almost like an
- 8:09anxiety kind of condition, because every time I would speak out, there would
- 8:11be some big backlash. And at this you know, I was in a
- 8:13public figure at the time. I didn't have walk Away backing me up or
- 8:18any of this. It was just me, and so I thought, you
- 8:20know, what, to hell with it, I'm going to just kind of
- 8:22make a video where I talk about literally everything that I that I realized,
- 8:28that I that I've learned, that I'm feeling, and I'm going to put
- 8:31it out so anyone else who wants to exit my life can just do it.
- 8:35Let's just get it over with, so I know who's love. And
- 8:39that was kind of the main driving force of why I created that video in
- 8:43the first place back in twenty eighteen. But it you know, of course,
- 8:46turned into something much bigger than that. You know, it's interesting because
- 8:50you you've learned the irony. I have said for many, many years,
- 8:54Brandon, I've got you by by quite a few that illiberals are always what
- 9:00they accuse others of being, and they've always accused people like me, people
- 9:05like you at this stage in your life, like many of the people that
- 9:09you're talking to right now, of being so intolerant, of being so hateful,
- 9:13when it's in fact just the opposite. And I take it you've learned
- 9:18that firsthand. Well, yeah, I mean I've definitely learned that firsthand on
- 9:22both fronts. I mean, when I made the decision to walk away and
- 9:26my videos started blowing up and walk Away started blowing up. Initially I started
- 9:33getting apps to go on radio shows, and then a few weeks later it
- 9:37was TV shows, and then it was I started getting invited to speak at
- 9:41different clubs, and so then when it kind of became a thing where I
- 9:45was entering into different rooms and different groups and different clubs and on the conservative
- 9:50side of the aisle in the real world, there was this very warm embrace,
- 9:54you know, and a lot of support and a lot of kindness and
- 9:58a lot of people kind of coming to me, oftentimes those tears in their
- 10:01eyes, just saying, you know, thank you so much for waking up,
- 10:05thank you for realizing that we're not what you've been led to believe that
- 10:09we are. And then the flip side of that, of course, is
- 10:13that the bigger my name became and the bigger my operation became, the more
- 10:20savagely, evil and vicious the left has become. And that's why I kind
- 10:24of laughed at the beginning of the segment when you were talking about the cost,
- 10:28I thought you were referring more to the cost the costs in the last
- 10:31couple of years, which is next level. I mean, we're so far
- 10:35beyond now, like losing friends and not getting invited to parties. I mean,
- 10:39it's it's savage. At this point. You know, we're going to
- 10:41pick up right there, Brandon Straka with us. He's going to be with
- 10:43us for most of this hour. We're chatting about the Walkaway campaign. Find
- 10:48out more Walkaway campaign dot com. There's an event coming up in Florida you
- 10:52want to know about. We'll tell you about that as well. Check off
- 11:00air and we're back joining me Brandon Straka. He is the founder of the
- 11:05Walkaway Campaign, and again the website is really easy Walkaway campaign dot com.
- 11:13People on the left hate it, and Brandon I told people, I'm not
- 11:16asking you to come to the Republican Party. I don't care. I'm telling
- 11:20you leave the Democrat Party. What's your chief argument right now, all these
- 11:26years later, because it's not gotten better. The left has gotten more brazen,
- 11:31more illiberal, and to me, more destructive. You're asking, what
- 11:37is my argument for people to leave the left? YEP, at this point,
- 11:41I would say that my argument at this point is, you know,
- 11:45we went through four years of Trump as our president, and up until twenty
- 11:52twenty, I think if people were actually being honest and assessing the situation fairly
- 11:58and accurately, they would say that things were much much better than things are
- 12:03today. You know, we had this elaborate ruse to get rid of Trump.
- 12:09Okay, we got rid of Trump. Here we are and things are
- 12:13really disastrous in a way that I think even the left can honestly assess our
- 12:18disastrous, even if they don't want to articulate that out loud. Add to
- 12:22that the fact that everything that the left said, they feared might happen under
- 12:28Trump has actually come to fruition under Biden. They kept saying, oh,
- 12:33you know, this man is the closest thing to a dictator and Hitler and
- 12:39all of these different things, and he's going to weaponize our justice system,
- 12:43and he's going to and that's literally all things. In fact, Trump,
- 12:46I would say, was actually overly gracious and forgiving of his enemies, including
- 12:54people who really did, I think, go way outside the bounds of the
- 12:58law to try to prevent him from becoming the president. Meanwhile, now we've
- 13:03got Biden in office, who is rounding up Trump supporters, and we're reading
- 13:07this week that the FBI is dedicating for dedicating resources just to basically pursuing MAGA
- 13:15Republicans over the next year or two years, whatever we are. I think,
- 13:20at this point at the closest thing that we've seen to fascism in America.
- 13:28And if that's something that the left is so scared of, truly and
- 13:31they're so frightened of, then they need to take a good, long,
- 13:33hard look in the mirror, because this is coming from their party, not
- 13:37ours. You mentioned that you lost roughly ninety percent of your friendships and relationships
- 13:45over this transition in your life. What about that other ten percent? Did
- 13:50they just become accepting and they were cool with different thoughts and all of that,
- 13:56or did they come along? No, those ten percent are gone now
- 14:01too, I would say, no, no, no, you misunderstood.
- 14:09No, they just held out a little bit longer than every Wow. No,
- 14:13I mean honestly, what I would say is that, you know,
- 14:16from I lost about ninety percent of my friends throughout the year of twenty seventeen.
- 14:22Then when I started walk Away, which would have been May of twenty
- 14:24eighteen, That's when I launched the video and the Facebook group. And then
- 14:28it was literally within six weeks after I started walk Away, it was on
- 14:31July second, I was invited to go on the Tucker Carlson Show, and
- 14:37that starting then Fox News had me on every day that week, and then
- 14:43started having me on you know, at least a couple of times a month
- 14:46right probably the next two years. And so my name and my you know,
- 14:54the walk Away movement just became you know, I think a household name
- 14:58for people in the world politics for the most part. And so then two
- 15:03things were happening at the same time. It was you know, these people
- 15:07who were my friends were saying, Wow, he used to be one of
- 15:09us. He betrayed us. He's a trader, he used to be a
- 15:11Democrat and now he's not. But then, to make matters worse, I
- 15:16also became very successful doing it. So then there was also this element I
- 15:20think of envy and rage and jealousy about it. And so over the course
- 15:26of the next couple of years, the remaining ten percent who were a little
- 15:28more loyal, the majority of them, I think, eventually turned on me
- 15:33as well, especially after January sixth. And one of the important, many
- 15:39many unfortunate things about January sixth was that it gave people on the left sort
- 15:46of this excuse to point and say, see, this is exactly what we
- 15:52knew you guys were. This is exactly you know what we always what we've
- 15:56been saying all along, that maga Republicans are, even though it was mostly
- 16:00manufactured by people on the West. Haven't thought or a story you want to
- 16:03share? Write them at Preston at iHeartRadio dot com. Yes he knows how
- 16:07to read. Well, actually, as producer reads it, he doesn't know
- 16:11how to read. It's The Morning Show with Preston Scott. All right,
- 16:19Ruminators back with you two more segments with Brandon Straka, the founder excuse me
- 16:26of the Walkaway campaign. You can learn more walkway campaign dot com. Talk
- 16:30about a big event coming to West Palm here in Florida in just a few
- 16:34minutes. But first, Brandon, you mentioned January sixth, and I have
- 16:40long believed that it was as much of a setup as anything that we could
- 16:45possibly imagine. Big picture. What's your takeaway from the events of that day?
- 16:51I mean, I can only tell you based off of the experience that
- 16:53I had that, you know, it's very simple. I think it's the
- 16:59truth is as terrible as you would like people to believe it is, then
- 17:04you wouldn't have to lie to add to that. And that's what my experience
- 17:11has been. You know, obviously there's not time to get into everything I
- 17:15went through, but I know that I was the subject of a hideous narrative
- 17:22of lives trying to connect me to the events of January sixth, and so
- 17:26I have no reason to believe that the government hasn't done that to other people
- 17:29as well. And I do believe fullheart, wholeheartedly that you know, there
- 17:34were people planted in the crowd to agitate people, and I hope that someday
- 17:41we learned the full truth about why things happened. I mean, I definitely
- 17:44think that there are, you know, people on our side who got swept
- 17:48into making some really bad decisions. Absolutely, And I think the majority of
- 17:52the people, you know, just thought that they were walking inside of the
- 17:56building through open doors, which was what I and it's from the outside.
- 18:00I of course did not go inside the Capitol on January sixth, but was
- 18:04still treated like a domestic terrorist just for being there. But yeah, no,
- 18:10I think that the narrative is incredibly dishonest, whether it's on your website
- 18:15Walkaway campaign dot com or your YouTube channel. I mentioned I have availed myself
- 18:21of many, many dozens of testimonials over the years. Did that just evolve
- 18:27because I think people would be absolutely struck by the powerful nature of the numbers
- 18:36of people that have put their story, their testimonial of walking away on tape.
- 18:41Yeah. So, you know, we started as a Facebook group,
- 18:45but on January eighth, twenty twenty one, Facebook banned the Walkaway Campaign the
- 18:49same day that they banned President Trump and hundreds of thousands of conservative accounts.
- 18:55So I got to work building our own social platform called Walkaway Social, which
- 19:00we launched a few months ago, earlier this year. You know, growing
- 19:03your own social platform is much slower than growing a Facebook group because you don't
- 19:07have the organic traffic and people have to intentionally load the app. But I
- 19:11would really encourage people to support it because you know, we just hit twenty
- 19:15thousand members on the app, so it's exactly I mean, literally, if
- 19:19you loved Walkway campaign on Facebook, you're gonna love walk Away Social because that's
- 19:23essentially exactly what it is. It's people. It's a social platform very similar
- 19:29to Facebook. People are sharing their stories, their videos, their written testimonials
- 19:33about leaving the Democratic Party. We have hundreds of new stories again on the
- 19:37new platform, So if you love the testimonials, I would highly encourage you
- 19:41to check it out because literally every day people are uploading new videos and new
- 19:47stories. But yeah, altogether, I mean we've grown to over five hundred
- 19:51and eleven thousand on Facebook when they banned us. You know, now we're
- 19:55kind of starting from scratch with this new platform. I really don't want to
- 19:59relaunch movement on Facebook, but we'll see. I mean, that may end
- 20:03up being the choice we have to make the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
- 20:07The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
- 20:12On News Radio one hundred point seven double USLA Walkaway Campaign dot com and now
- 20:23we take you to walk Away Anniversary dot com. Brandon tell us about it.
- 20:30Yeah, so Walkway turns five years old this year, and you know,
- 20:34we're doing basically a three day long event in West Palm Beach, Florida
- 20:40that I want to encourage everybody listening, especially if you're in the Florida area,
- 20:44This should be very easy for you to come and join us November ten
- 20:48through the twelfth. So we're calling this weekend long event walk a con,
- 20:52much like Politicon or coma con or right, you know. And of course
- 20:56you know people they're like, oh god is because you know we're all going
- 21:02to be convicts soon under the Biden administration. Well yeah, kind of right,
- 21:08Uh no, not really though, I mean, honestly, we wanted
- 21:11to do kind of like a take on a three day conference, but you
- 21:15know, ours is going to be a little bit different. So we kicked
- 21:18the entire thing off on Friday, November tenth. They're at the uh Hilton
- 21:23Palm Beach Airport location. We're going to do an extravagant, extravagant stage show
- 21:30presentation and we have Laura Trump, Matt Schlapp, Tutor Dixon, David Harris
- 21:36Junior, uh Misha Menor Sjamika Michelle, Katie Hopkins. We're going to be
- 21:41adding more speakers Dan Ball from Oaan, I mean literally dozens of incredible speakers.
- 21:48But I think what's really cool about what we're doing is that it's going
- 21:51to be about half and half of you know, big name uh great driving
- 21:56forces in the conservative movement, mixed with real people telling real stories. And
- 22:03this is something I really wanted to do is kind of pluck people who have
- 22:07created amazing Walkaway testimonial videos and put them on stage and let them share their
- 22:12stories with people telling their story of why they were Democrats and why they're walking
- 22:18away from the Democratic Party so Frida, and of course we're also mixing that
- 22:22in with videos and kind of a trip down memory lane of what walk Away
- 22:26has done, while also focusing on what we're going to do in the future
- 22:32to ensure that we see ourselves to victory in twenty twenty four, because I
- 22:36firmly believe that we cannot win in twenty twenty four without a walk away movement,
- 22:41without people leaving the left and those people in the center saying, you
- 22:45know what, I'm not going to support the Democratic Party anymore. This is
- 22:49a path to disaster and we have to come over and support the right.
- 22:55And then the next couple of days we're kind of mixing it up. Saturday,
- 22:59we're going to do an out or patriot rally. It's Veterans Day.
- 23:02We're going to celebrate our veterans. We're going to just get people from all
- 23:04over the country together to kind of lift up our voices, you know,
- 23:07engage in our First Amendment rights, and celebrate the unification of being together as
- 23:14people who love our country and want to fight for it and not see things
- 23:18fall apart. Saturday night, we're going to chill out a little bit and
- 23:21do a really fun comedy event. We're flying in conservative comedians from all over
- 23:26the country. Actually a lot of them are walkaways, which is really cool.
- 23:30A lot of people who were former left wing political people who now have
- 23:37walked away from the Democratic Party and in many circumstances, walked away from that
- 23:41side of the entertainment industry and now they're on our side of the aisle doing
- 23:47stand up comedy or you know, performance comedy. So we're going to do
- 23:51a comedy roast event on Saturday night. It's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 23:55Sunday, we're going to start the day off with brunch with Carrie Lake.
- 23:59Carr is going to be our keynote speaker there at the brunch and she'll
- 24:03also be signing books and taking pictures. And then the last thing that we'll
- 24:06do immediately after brunch is we will we will do a panel discussion which is
- 24:14the True Stories of January sixth. We're actually having January sixth defendants there to
- 24:18tell their stories about what really happened that day, what they've been through and
- 24:22gone through at the hands of the FBI and the DJ and what this has
- 24:26done to their lives. People can ask questions here that you people are saying
- 24:30to me all the time, we can't get the truth about January sixth,
- 24:33and no one will talk about it. Well, we're going to bring it
- 24:34to you right there from the people who actually experienced it. So it's really
- 24:40six events over three days because we kick it off with a VIP cocktail or
- 24:45durb reception on Friday Night where people can meet all of our speakers, take
- 24:48pictures with them, have drinks. It's going to be a lot of fun.
- 24:52And then that Friday night show, the Saturday Rally, Saturday Night comedy
- 24:56show, Sunday Carry Lake Brunch, and then the January event. So six
- 25:00events and three days. It's literally we've priced this so inexpensively. Yeah,
- 25:06you have the I mean it's crazy literally where people can do the entire weekend,
- 25:11all of those events for a total of two hundred dollars all of it.
- 25:15And then of course we have VIP options as well. If people want
- 25:17to do the VIP and get some extra perks and things like that, I
- 25:21highly encourage people to participate in the entire weekend. They can go to Walkaway
- 25:26Anniversary dot com. Remember it's our fifth anniversary, so this is Walkawayanniversary dot
- 25:32Com to get tickets to the event. But look, I'm gonna look,
- 25:36I'm gonna say something that I probably shouldn't say, but I'm gonna say it
- 25:40because it needs to be said. One thing our side of the aisle often
- 25:44struggles with is understanding an opportunity to send a message. And you know what
- 25:52the left has done to me, and so what they're doing to Donald Trump,
