  Speaker 1: because I'm sixty eight, I'm not too old to learn

  Speaker 1: this lesson. I think if you keep living, and you

  Speaker 1: live open, and you live with a lot of effort,

  Speaker 1: you're constantly learning something. The only thing I think I've

  Speaker 1: mastered in life is manhood. I've mastered that. I don't

  Speaker 1: really know nothing that you can tell me about manhood.

  Speaker 1: I really don't. And that's not being vain or arrogant.

  Speaker 1: But a lot of men can relate to what I'm saying.

  Speaker 1: I know what it is to be a man. I

  Speaker 1: done put the crown on outn war, I'm wearing it.

  Speaker 1: I perform my duties in it. So there's nothing there.

  Speaker 1: But what I have learned, more and more and more

  Speaker 1: is about this relationship with God. And I'm telling you, y'all,

  Speaker 1: if you don't have a solid relationship with God, just

  Speaker 1: go get it. Just go get it, and it's not hard.

  Speaker 1: All you have to do is ask ask Him to

  Speaker 1: be closer, ask him to guide you. All to your steps,

  Speaker 1: ask him to be a very present help. And when

  Speaker 1: you do that, all you have to do is just

  Speaker 1: be grateful. Just be grateful for what he's done for you. Man,

  Speaker 1: that's the beginning of a great relationship. You know, if

  Speaker 1: you would just show appreciation for all he's done for you,

  Speaker 1: and that list is he missed. If you spend all

  Speaker 1: day thanking him for everything he's done for you, you

  Speaker 1: run out of time. You run it. You gotta quit

  Speaker 1: your job. You really would, man, that's a key component

  Speaker 1: to this relationship. It's gratitude. But I'm gonna tell you, man,

  Speaker 1: having a relationship with God, it clears up a lot

  Speaker 1: of things because sometimes once you get really close to him,

  Speaker 1: he reveals to you things. He shows you why you're

  Speaker 1: going through something. Sometimes he'll do it right, even in

  Speaker 1: the middle of it. Sometimes he reveals to you what

  Speaker 1: it was after it's over. You don't know. There is

  Speaker 1: no certain way, but the lessons you learn in life

  Speaker 1: are necessary. Every time you have a trial or tribulation, y'all,

  Speaker 1: that ain't calmer, That ain't God getting back at you.

  Speaker 1: That's God preparing you for something you asked for. I

  Speaker 1: can't tell you how many times I look back on

  Speaker 1: setbacks in my life and I didn't understand why I

  Speaker 1: had him, But now I do. I think I told

  Speaker 1: you all the other day. Man, I was so heartbroken

  Speaker 1: over this job. I didn't get at All State Insurance
• 2:52
  Speaker 1: one time. I was heartbroken about it. At twenty seven
• 2:55
  Speaker 1: years old, the twins was two years old. I didn't
• 2:58
  Speaker 1: have no money. I was just a straight struggle man.

  Speaker 1: And when I got turned down in the fourth and
• 3:03
  Speaker 1: final interview because a man told me, you just seem
• 3:06
  Speaker 1: like you show a lack of stability. You've moved four
• 3:10
  Speaker 1: times in the last six years, and I just represent instability.

  Speaker 1: And I left their tears running down my face. When
• 3:17
  Speaker 1: I got up on that off ramp going back home
• 3:19
  Speaker 1: and I saw that All State sign, and Man, had
• 3:22
  Speaker 1: I taken that job, I probably never would have got
• 3:26
  Speaker 1: into comedy because I'd have been so busy selling insurance
• 3:30
  Speaker 1: and making quotas and trying to be the best insurance man.
• 3:33
  Speaker 1: I would have missed the mark I thought about all
• 3:37
  Speaker 1: the times that I was homeless. What was it for? Man,
• 3:42
  Speaker 1: It's so many things it taught me, but a level
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: of appreciation for what I have is certainly one of
• 3:47
  Speaker 1: them because I constantly remember what it felt like not
• 3:51
  Speaker 1: to have. That's why when I talked to somebody that's homeless, man,
• 3:55
  Speaker 1: I get emotional listening to them, because I know exactly
• 3:58
  Speaker 1: how you feel. I don't know if you've ever felt

  Speaker 1: the sensation of not being able to say I'm going home.

  Speaker 1: You done had a rough day and you just get
• 4:07
  Speaker 1: to say I'm going home, and I don't care what

  Speaker 1: your home is, the fact that you can turn the

  Speaker 1: key and close the door and shut that world out
• 4:15
  Speaker 1: for a minute, it gives you a moment of restoration.

  Speaker 1: Well that's gone when you homeless. I think of all

  Speaker 1: the things I've gone through and what it has done

  Speaker 1: for me. I think about in college, I think about pledging.

  Speaker 1: I think about how it was back then, but what

  Speaker 1: it taught me. The reason I am as strong as

  Speaker 1: I am today because I've been pressed. I've been pressed

  Speaker 1: my entire life. I've been challenged my entire life. I've

  Speaker 1: been against it my entire life. Somebody told me the
• 4:54
  Speaker 1: other day, and it kind of irritated me. I overheard
• 4:57
  Speaker 1: him talking about me. Well, the only reason he able

  Speaker 1: to do that now is because he got money. Wait

  Speaker 1: a minute, man, what what you mean the only reason

  Speaker 1: he able to do that now is because he got money.

  Speaker 1: How I get the money? Do you know what I did?

  Speaker 1: Do you know what I had to do? You know

  Speaker 1: what I had to endure, you how to overcome? You

  Speaker 1: know what I had to go through to get to

  Speaker 1: where I am today. Man, miss me with that old

  Speaker 1: luck thing you talking, You can miss me with all

  Speaker 1: that he just God, he just got that because he

  Speaker 1: got money. I wish it was that simple. I wish

  Speaker 1: it was just cause somebody gave me some money. How

  Speaker 1: about you, don't you wish somebody would just give you

  Speaker 1: some money. Well, let me tell you something that ain't

  Speaker 1: how I go. I thank God for all the hardships

  Speaker 1: because it made me who I am today. When you

  Speaker 1: are struggling, when you are caught up in the middle

  Speaker 1: of it, remember everything you're going through is God preparing

  Speaker 1: you for what you asked for. You need these tests,

  Speaker 1: and you need to pass the test because when you

  Speaker 1: get what God God for you, you'll be able to hold.
