- 0:33Speaker 2: on Nice seventh three ESPN. S Jeff, it's never boring
- 0:37Speaker 2: when it comes to the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Is It? Never has been?
- 0:41Speaker 4: Never go Actually actually, Josh, I would say, you know,
- 0:47Speaker 4: free agency for them has sort of been a little
- 0:49Speaker 4: boring now that I think about it. And I mean
- 0:51Speaker 4: they lose a out on Jaalen Phillips, Who's you know,
- 0:54Speaker 4: that would have been a big splash have they made it.
- 0:56Speaker 4: And you know, Dallas Goddard's nice bringing back, but you
- 0:59Speaker 4: know he was sort of a fixture here for a while.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I don't know. Maybe maybe they're starting to get a
- 1:04Speaker 3: little boring.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Well maybe it's a good thing then, because maybe boring
- 1:07Speaker 2: is the new sign of success, because you don't have
- 1:09Speaker 2: to be crazy. By the way, can I just say
- 1:12Speaker 2: I said this earlier on the show. I think Jolih
- 1:15Speaker 2: Phillips is a nice guy. Everyone seems to like him
- 1:17Speaker 2: as a person. But he he said the biggest load
- 1:21Speaker 2: of Horseman or This Morning, Good Morning Football, when he
- 1:24Speaker 2: said the reason why he went to the Carolina Panthers
- 1:27Speaker 2: is because they have a great football culture and he's
- 1:30Speaker 2: always wanted to play for a team like that. And
- 1:32Speaker 2: it's like, no, no, no, you know what to Carolina because
- 1:35Speaker 2: they offered you thirty million dollars. All right, We're not
- 1:37Speaker 2: gonna be mad at you jailing to say that you
- 1:40Speaker 2: were you had the opportunity to make life changing money,
- 1:42Speaker 2: Like come on, man.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Well that's true.
- 1:45Speaker 5: But I think that not only does he not want
- 1:47Speaker 5: to just say it's about the money. I think, you know,
- 1:49Speaker 5: when you're trying to acclimate yourself to a new town,
- 1:53Speaker 5: you'd try to praise it. I mean, yes, it's this
- 1:56Speaker 5: has been going on for the longest time, you know.
- 1:58Speaker 5: I think saying whatever.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I remember.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Yeah, it's funny. I remember a long time ago. You'll
- 2:05Speaker 5: remember this. Like Mike Hampton, you remember the left handed picture.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Oh yeah, the Rockies, right, the Mets trade for him.
- 2:11Speaker 5: He finishes out his year, Mets think they're going to
- 2:14Speaker 5: resign him.
- 2:14Speaker 3: He goes to Simon, Colorado. Big deal, which was terrible
- 2:18Speaker 3: career move.
- 2:18Speaker 5: But uh and in his press conference he makes some
- 2:21Speaker 5: remark well they did.
- 2:23Speaker 3: The school system was just unbeatable. You can't you can't beat.
- 2:26Speaker 5: The school system in Denver, Colorado, I guess, or whatever,
- 2:30Speaker 5: the Colorado suburbs, right, and like now, the New York
- 2:34Speaker 5: media had fun with oh yeah, like there's really no
- 2:36Speaker 5: good private schools in Manhattan or Queen's right, you know,
- 2:39Speaker 5: I mean New York City school system, private school system
- 2:42Speaker 5: where it probably cost you twenty five thousand a year
- 2:45Speaker 5: to go, right, I'm sure that's not very good.
- 2:47Speaker 3: No, Like I said, people, you know, people say anything.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Well, here's what we'll say.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I think probably the biggest news Eagles wise, of the
- 2:55Speaker 2: last few days is the Dallas Goddard signing yesterday. Because
- 2:59Speaker 2: this is a guy Jeff that agreed not once, but twice.
- 3:02Speaker 2: The pushback, the void date, so he obviously wanted to
- 3:05Speaker 2: be here.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Again.
- 3:08Speaker 2: He's actually gonna make less money than he made last year.
- 3:11Speaker 2: So you know, what does it say to you that
- 3:13Speaker 2: a guy and Goddard who theorectly could have opened free agency,
- 3:16Speaker 2: could have gone through the fifteen minutes of dating, you
- 3:19Speaker 2: know cycle with everybody. He said, no, I really want
- 3:22Speaker 2: to be here, especially after everything that's happened in the
- 3:25Speaker 2: last couple of years.
- 3:26Speaker 5: Yeah, hey, he must like the football culture you're in Philadelphia. Now, Look,
- 3:31Speaker 5: it's not hasn't been a very fruitful market for tight ends.
- 3:36Speaker 3: And you know the joke, who's still out there?
- 3:38Speaker 5: Waller is still out there, John new Smith is still
- 3:42Speaker 5: out there. I forget someone signed for a deal that
- 3:45Speaker 5: was around eight million, seven million that I thought might
- 3:48Speaker 5: get more just and I think it made it a
- 3:51Speaker 5: little easier and more reasonable for both the Eagles in
- 3:53Speaker 5: Dallas to make it work when the market for tight
- 3:56Speaker 5: end for whatever reason, and that happens every agency, right,
- 4:00Speaker 5: there's like a market that hits and there's a market
- 4:03Speaker 5: that doesn't hit.
- 4:04Speaker 3: And tight end just didn't hit.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Do you think it didn't hit?
- 4:09Speaker 2: Because also maybe the draft class that people are looking
- 4:11Speaker 2: ahead to the draft class and saying, hey, I really
- 4:14Speaker 2: I really want to get in on some of those
- 4:15Speaker 2: guys instead of spending money on guys who maybe they're
- 4:18Speaker 2: upside like like you. If it's Isaiah Likely, he got
- 4:21Speaker 2: a nice little contract from the Giants.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I think the AAV is like thirteen million.
- 4:25Speaker 2: But you could argue that there's five or six guys
- 4:28Speaker 2: in this draft class whose potential is higher than Isaiah Likely.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Yeah, it's possible. That certainly is the case. I think
- 4:34Speaker 5: it's just the more there weren't that many young tight
- 4:37Speaker 5: ends like Isaiah Likely. You know, the guys I just
- 4:39Speaker 5: mentioned were, uh, you know, whether it's Najokh or Goddard
- 4:42Speaker 5: or John new Smith or Waller, right, I mean they've
- 4:44Speaker 5: all been around the league. If there was you know, Likely, yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 5: I mean I think if there was a younger, if
- 4:51Speaker 5: Gonnard was maybe three or four years younger, he probably
- 4:54Speaker 5: would have hit a little bit harder on the on
- 4:56Speaker 5: the money, you know, or better on the money scale.
- 4:58Speaker 5: But you're right, team are seeing the age of tight
- 5:01Speaker 5: end and seeing how good of a tight end class
- 5:03Speaker 5: this was.
- 5:04Speaker 3: In last year, A couple of teams loaded up on it.
- 5:06Speaker 5: There weren't that many good tight ends last year, but
- 5:08Speaker 5: they were it was a top heavy group. So yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 5: it just created a year where the market wasn't so great.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Now, of course Goddard signs for a one year deal,
- 5:18Speaker 2: so did Grant Calcatara. So do not trying to put
- 5:22Speaker 2: words in the eagle's mouth, but to me, signing one
- 5:25Speaker 2: year deals, to me, is a clear signal that they
- 5:29Speaker 2: are going to look at tight end in this draft,
- 5:31Speaker 2: considering they have two guys under one year contracts.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they have to.
- 5:36Speaker 5: They had to do it, whether they signed Goddard or not,
- 5:39Speaker 5: because you're right, you look at Goddard one year, him
- 5:42Speaker 5: Calkatara one year, month, one year a lot to last
- 5:45Speaker 5: year of a two years. So technically they might have
- 5:48Speaker 5: zero tight ends under contract in two thousand and twenty seven.
- 5:53Speaker 3: So they need to rebuild the position.
- 5:54Speaker 5: It's a position that they've done an excellent job if
- 5:57Speaker 5: you think about it, for almost two decades, being able
- 6:00Speaker 5: to go from one to another to another. Starter right
- 6:03Speaker 5: from Chad Lewis, L. J. Smith and Brent Sellick zach
- 6:08Speaker 5: Ertz to Dallas Goddard. Okay, I don't think I missed
- 6:10Speaker 5: any starter in between there. That's about fifteen to twenty
- 6:14Speaker 5: years of really good tight end play.
- 6:16Speaker 3: So I thought they were going to do it last year.
- 6:19Speaker 5: It didn't work out, But by bringing back Goddard here
- 6:21Speaker 5: for a year, it does allow them.
- 6:23Speaker 3: To draft a tight end.
- 6:24Speaker 5: If they don't draft the tight end this year, then
- 6:27Speaker 5: maybe suddenly they don't value the position the way they
- 6:29Speaker 5: used to. I don't think that's the case, but I
- 6:32Speaker 5: really think that it makes a whole lot of sense
- 6:36Speaker 5: for this year for them to be able to draft
- 6:37Speaker 5: a tight end, so they don't have to reach now
- 6:40Speaker 5: right because you have got it. You don't have to
- 6:42Speaker 5: use your first round pick and say I can't line
- 6:44Speaker 5: up and play a football game right now unless I
- 6:47Speaker 5: use a first round pick on a tight end because
- 6:49Speaker 5: you have Goddard and Calcatara and a little bit of
- 6:52Speaker 5: depth there.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Absolutely Jeff Mosher joining us for the Inside the Bird
- 6:57Speaker 2: podcast and Philly Boyce at Jeff P. Mosher on the
- 6:59Speaker 2: l form here all in Sports Batch Football at four
- 7:03Speaker 2: on Nice seven three ESPN. So with that being said, Okay,
- 7:07Speaker 2: so Goddard's back, we got that check mark, right, you know,
- 7:10Speaker 2: they bring in Rik Wollen, They got that check mark.
- 7:13Speaker 2: There's still a couple other situations where they have holes
- 7:16Speaker 2: to fill, right, safety being one, edge rusher being another.
- 7:21Speaker 2: We know the Eagles in the past, some of their
- 7:23Speaker 2: biggest moves, Jeff have not come during the month of March.
- 7:27Speaker 2: They've come late March April May. So how important is
- 7:32Speaker 2: it to remind people out there that Howie season does
- 7:35Speaker 2: not end when the first week of free agency, because
- 7:38Speaker 2: Howie season is all season, right?
- 7:41Speaker 3: Oh?
- 7:41Speaker 5: I mean, I think le Garrett Blunt a huge part
- 7:44Speaker 5: of their first Super Bowl success, I think was a
- 7:46Speaker 5: May signing. Makai Beckton was signed the day after the
- 7:51Speaker 5: third day of the draft, So like April twenty ninth
- 7:54Speaker 5: or thirtieth two years ago.
- 7:56Speaker 3: CJ. Gardner Johnson was acquired.
- 7:59Speaker 5: Via trade aid a week before the start of the
- 8:02Speaker 5: season August thirtieth. There you go Johan Dotson as well,
- 8:07Speaker 5: although he wouldn't I wouldn't call him this high impact.
- 8:09Speaker 3: But the point is the Eagles will.
- 8:12Speaker 5: I mean Chris Long, the Eagles will continue to always
- 8:16Speaker 5: add to their roster all threat and how he says
- 8:19Speaker 5: this all the time the off season.
- 8:21Speaker 3: That is not the first two weeks of free agency.
- 8:23Speaker 3: It's not just the draft.
- 8:24Speaker 5: There's plenty of time to the trademarket and late, late
- 8:27Speaker 5: signings to help your team.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I always will remember that Garrett Blunt was when he
- 8:32Speaker 2: was signed by the Eagles, Jeff, because he was signing
- 8:33Speaker 2: my birthday.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Oh what a happy birthday that was for you.
- 8:37Speaker 2: It's a happy birthday, John, here's the Garrett Blunt. He's
- 8:39Speaker 2: gonna run people over for a Super Bowl champion and
- 8:41Speaker 2: give you something to talk about that day on the radio.
- 8:45Speaker 5: I will say, though, that you make this point, and
- 8:47Speaker 5: I think that people can be misled though when you
- 8:50Speaker 5: say do they You know, they need depth. They need
- 8:52Speaker 5: a guy at safety, right, and they need a guy
- 8:54Speaker 5: at wide receiver. But they actually need more than a guy.
- 8:58Speaker 5: I mean, these are positions they need a starter and depth.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Take a look at safety, right. So they have Andrew mccooba.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Their number two safety right now is whom Carter Mike Okay.
- 9:12Speaker 3: So he's in the mix.
- 9:13Speaker 5: That's and he's not even played safety in a long time.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Sidney Brown is not going to play defense for this team.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Know.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I'm so glad you said the guy.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I said that before you came on, Jeff, about how
- 9:22Speaker 2: I think the Sydney Brown lack of development is a
- 9:26Speaker 2: coverage safety and becoming more of a special teams guy
- 9:28Speaker 2: has kind of pigeonholed the Eagles roster wise to have
- 9:31Speaker 2: a guy who like they won him for special teams,
- 9:34Speaker 2: but he ain't going out there and starting seventeen games
- 9:37Speaker 2: at safety right right.
- 9:39Speaker 5: So you look at the situation and you say, you
- 9:41Speaker 5: have one starter and you have a really nothing after
- 9:44Speaker 5: that that you feel really confident about if there's an injury.
- 9:47Speaker 5: So they absolutely need a safety, and then they need
- 9:49Speaker 5: a number three safety, which could come by the draft,
- 9:52Speaker 5: who knows, but they and same thing a wide receiver.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Aj Brown stays, that's great if he does. If not,
- 9:57Speaker 5: they of course need an outside wide receiver right him.
- 9:59Speaker 5: And but who's their number three right wide receiver right now?
- 10:02Speaker 5: With Johan Dattson gone? I mean, and that's why I
- 10:06Speaker 5: think they really need to get themselves a slot, a
- 10:09Speaker 5: real true slot wide receiver, not as Ze miscast is
- 10:14Speaker 5: one the way Dotson was. And when Adam and I
- 10:16Speaker 5: were talking about that on the podcast had dropped this morning,
- 10:19Speaker 5: I asked him to read me the list, and I
- 10:20Speaker 5: was like, hey, you know what, there's some pretty There's
- 10:23Speaker 5: like Keenan Allen and Adam Thielen and there was somebody
- 10:26Speaker 5: else you mentioned. I'm like Keenan Allen just had eighty catches,
- 10:29Speaker 5: you know last year for the Charger. That's pretty good
- 10:31Speaker 5: for a guy his age. Get a guy like that
- 10:34Speaker 5: one year deal, obviously, you know some of them may
- 10:37Speaker 5: want a little bit more than just a veteran minimum.
- 10:39Speaker 5: I don't know, but I would take to Adam Thieleen,
- 10:42Speaker 5: you're not playing this guy seventy percent of the game anyway,
- 10:44Speaker 5: because you're still gonna be in a twelve personnel decent,
- 10:47Speaker 5: but get some guy who's played the slot and knows
- 10:51Speaker 5: how to play it, and then build your depth. You know,
- 10:54Speaker 5: missing on a Naia Smith a couple of years ago
- 10:56Speaker 5: hurt them, Johnny Wilson's injury last year hurt them. And
- 11:00Speaker 5: Darius Cooper. I liked what I saw from him, Josh,
- 11:03Speaker 5: and I think he can be a player in this league.
- 11:05Speaker 5: I think he's probably more of an outside receiver. You know,
- 11:07Speaker 5: they did play him in the slot when they wanted
- 11:09Speaker 5: to run and put him in there because its a
- 11:10Speaker 5: big body guy. Maybe he can acclimate it, but you
- 11:14Speaker 5: can't bank on that.
- 11:16Speaker 3: No.
- 11:16Speaker 2: And by the way, one guy just got taken off
- 11:18Speaker 2: the market just now, as we're talking Christian Kirk.
- 11:20Speaker 1: He decided one with the other guy. He decided one,
- 11:22Speaker 1: you deal with the forty nine.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Ersh which is so smart, right, And my man, the Niners,
- 11:28Speaker 5: what a quietly good offseason they've had, right with Mike Evans.
- 11:33Speaker 5: They bring back Drake Greenlaw, they just signed Kirk. They're
- 11:37Speaker 5: gonna get through that Brandon Ayuk situation. They obviously have
- 11:39Speaker 5: a good offense. We know that they'll get Bosa back
- 11:42Speaker 5: from the ACL. It's a team that won twelve games
- 11:46Speaker 5: with like popsicle sticks and gum of a roster, right,
- 11:50Speaker 5: especially on defense, So that that's a really smart signing
- 11:53Speaker 5: by them. That was one of the guys I had
- 11:55Speaker 5: to mention that I thought would be perfect for the Eagles.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Does does Kirk then signed with the forty nine Ers
- 12:00Speaker 2: make Juwan Jennings more interesting for the Eagles?
- 12:04Speaker 5: Sure, And that's the kind of guy I think would
- 12:06Speaker 5: really function well.
- 12:07Speaker 3: But I would say you could probably look this and
- 12:10Speaker 3: google this.
- 12:11Speaker 5: I think throughout his forty nine Ers career he's kind
- 12:13Speaker 5: of wanted a lot, like a decent amount of money
- 12:16Speaker 5: for who he is, right, he was always seemingly asking
- 12:18Speaker 5: for one running. I don't the Eagles are not putting
- 12:20Speaker 5: out a lot of cash here. So but listen, and
- 12:23Speaker 5: the Eagles still have to go get themselves an edge.
- 12:26Speaker 3: So that's the other conversation.
- 12:28Speaker 5: You know, who's left nobody in free agency that's gonna
- 12:31Speaker 5: give you the equivalent of what you were hoping for
- 12:33Speaker 5: out of jail and Phillips. So now you have all
- 12:35Speaker 5: that money to spend that you were gonna spell and
- 12:38Speaker 5: spend on Jaylen Phillips.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Where does it go?
- 12:40Speaker 5: Because now how he's got to be creative in the
- 12:43Speaker 5: trade market, find an edge and then maybe give that
- 12:45Speaker 5: guy an extension.
- 12:46Speaker 2: See my problem with Jennings is is that the injury history.
- 12:49Speaker 2: This guy has had numerous injuries over the years, but
- 12:51Speaker 2: he keeps demanding he wants more targets. It's like we'll
- 12:53Speaker 2: get on the field man, Like he went, you want
- 12:56Speaker 2: more targets?
- 12:57Speaker 1: Can you play throw the ball?
- 12:59Speaker 2: I think that's always a promise some of these guys,
- 13:00Speaker 2: and that is like they value themselves. I don't blame
- 13:03Speaker 2: them for budan so high. Look at John Phillips. He
- 13:05Speaker 2: took a huge game with the free agent mark. He
- 13:07Speaker 2: cashed him big.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Good for him.
- 13:09Speaker 2: But like Juwan Jennings, has some self awareness to be like, hey,
- 13:12Speaker 2: no one's gonna want to give you the money, get
- 13:14Speaker 2: go get something like I think the Rik Woolen deal
- 13:17Speaker 2: should be the model for a guy like Jennings to
- 13:19Speaker 2: be like, go get a one year deal and just
- 13:21Speaker 2: ball out and then go at the market again.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's not a bad suggestion.
- 13:27Speaker 5: And you know what, all he has to do is
- 13:29Speaker 5: use the tape against the Eagles game to show what
- 13:31Speaker 5: he can do, because he made the Eagles look silly
- 13:34Speaker 5: on a couple of big catches in that game.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Come on here for Jeff Mosher from the Inside the
- 13:38Speaker 2: Birds podcast Philly Voyce checking out all of his writing
- 13:41Speaker 2: about the Eagles over there. Other news that came out
- 13:44Speaker 2: today down with Darius Slagh retiring officially from the NFL. Now,
- 13:48Speaker 2: I will clarify he has been talking about retiring after
- 13:51Speaker 2: thirteen years for about the last three years. So if
- 13:55Speaker 2: you's listened over to listen to his podcast, he has
- 13:57Speaker 2: talked about on his pod about how he wanted to
- 13:59Speaker 2: play thirteen years and then retire. So I think he
- 14:02Speaker 2: was surprised, but I do think it's the opportunity for
- 14:04Speaker 2: us to talk about the value that he brought to
- 14:06Speaker 2: the Eagles because I remember when he was acquired, Jeff,
- 14:09Speaker 2: there was a long dearth of like good corners for
- 14:13Speaker 2: Philadelphia for many years, and you could argue that the
- 14:16Speaker 2: Eagles would have not had this success, not just on
- 14:19Speaker 2: the field, but the development of the younger players like
- 14:21Speaker 2: the the Jeans and the Mitchells if Slay wasn't on
- 14:24Speaker 2: this team for those years.
- 14:26Speaker 5: One of the most significant trade acquisitions by the Eagles
- 14:30Speaker 5: over the last twenty five years. I mean, Jason Peters
- 14:32Speaker 5: probably number one, right, but you can put Sleigh. I'm
- 14:36Speaker 5: trying to think who else. I mean, obviously aj Brown
- 14:39Speaker 5: up there, but you know what Slay is. Slay is
- 14:42Speaker 5: in that mold and because you could even I don't
- 14:48Speaker 5: want to put him above Peters because Peters is so good.
- 14:51Speaker 5: But honestly, they won the Super Bowl without Peters because
- 14:53Speaker 5: he was hurt. Slay was so vital because as you
- 14:57Speaker 5: just mentioned, for years, for twenty taking years, Eagles were
- 15:01Speaker 5: drafting corners, signing corners, trying.
- 15:04Speaker 3: To get corners. And you know, they did win their
- 15:07Speaker 3: first Super Bowl without Sleigh. They wasn't on the team then,
- 15:10Speaker 3: but they were just getting by.
- 15:11Speaker 5: I mean, they gave a five hundred freaking passing yards
- 15:13Speaker 5: in the Super Bowl. But Slay was finally the answer.
- 15:17Speaker 5: I mean, he was sort of like the white whale
- 15:19Speaker 5: for the Eagles, right, like, finally they had a corner
- 15:22Speaker 5: who was good. They only had to give him a
- 15:24Speaker 5: third and a fifth round pick to get him. And
- 15:27Speaker 5: you know, that first year was twenty twenty, so it
- 15:29Speaker 5: was rough because the team was just terrible and imploded.
- 15:32Speaker 3: But it started to payoff.
- 15:34Speaker 5: Very next year he was a Pro bowler again, and
- 15:36Speaker 5: then the year after that they win a Super Bowl.
- 15:38Speaker 5: And then he winds up sticking around a couple of
- 15:40Speaker 5: years longer, and he winds up making three Pro Bowls
- 15:43Speaker 5: with the Eagle. Find a cornerback to make three Pro
- 15:46Speaker 5: bowls for the Eagles in the last twenty I think
- 15:48Speaker 5: Leedo made two. I don't think he made three, and
- 15:52Speaker 5: I don't think Sheldon made any. Actually he was really
- 15:55Speaker 5: good but sort of solid. I have to go back
- 15:58Speaker 5: and look.
- 15:58Speaker 1: At Leedo two.
- 16:00Speaker 5: Lino made two, all right, this guy made three just
- 16:04Speaker 5: with the Eagles, and I think six uh in his career.
- 16:08Speaker 5: So he was and first first of all, also not
- 16:11Speaker 5: to be forgotten, he was a glue guy in the
- 16:14Speaker 5: locker room. Yes, the young kids, especially Quina, Mitchell and Dejane,
- 16:18Speaker 5: learned a lot from him. He was great accountabilit he
- 16:21Speaker 5: was accountable, he was good with sports writers.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Not that that matters, but it just he set a
- 16:25Speaker 3: good example.
- 16:26Speaker 2: But there's a reason why that matters. Is started a
- 16:30Speaker 2: ruck you. But I gotta point this out, and I
- 16:32Speaker 2: pointed that earlier he showed the younger player. You showed
- 16:35Speaker 2: the other players how to handle the media. That'st example,
- 16:39Speaker 2: because I don't think Cooper Degene would be as talkative
- 16:42Speaker 2: as he is with the media now.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I don't think.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Jordan Davis would be evolved into the talkative guy with
- 16:47Speaker 2: the media now if Slay didn't take those guys aside
- 16:51Speaker 2: and directly and indirectly show them the way.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Very possible, Josh.
- 16:55Speaker 5: I mean, you know, Cooper and both Quinna and Cooper
- 16:59Speaker 5: came from like the small mark I was a big
- 17:01Speaker 5: college football team, but it's a smaller market, right And
- 17:04Speaker 5: of course Toleno, uh so, yeah, I think he did
- 17:06Speaker 5: set an example.
- 17:07Speaker 3: And again, I mean it's.
- 17:10Speaker 5: Just I think for the Eagle fan to finally see
- 17:13Speaker 5: a cornerback come in here and work out after some
- 17:16Speaker 5: really you know, disastrous years in between say the Lido
- 17:20Speaker 5: and the Sheldon and the Sante Samuel years. It was
- 17:23Speaker 5: it was probably really a welcome it was well, it
- 17:26Speaker 5: was definitely a welcome edition.
- 17:29Speaker 2: And with that being said, I wouldn't be surprised to
- 17:31Speaker 2: the Eagles draft more secondary depth in the draft this year.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I mean, just because of the fact, like you said,
- 17:37Speaker 2: it's not just safety, it's you know, people keep bringing
- 17:40Speaker 2: up to us on the textboard, Jeff, about how well
- 17:43Speaker 2: you know Cooper could play safety, But my mind keeps
- 17:46Speaker 2: going back to how until the Fangio said, We're not
- 17:49Speaker 2: gonna play Cooper somewhere else unless we have a good
- 17:52Speaker 2: enough slot corner. So they've made it very clear that,
- 17:56Speaker 2: at least Fangio has I think the Eagles have had
- 17:58Speaker 2: through their their moves and their signing, they're not gonna
- 18:01Speaker 2: move Cooper Degene to safety unless they have a bona
- 18:04Speaker 2: fide slot corner.
- 18:07Speaker 3: I agree with that.
- 18:09Speaker 5: I agree, and that's why Riquilling is here, because they
- 18:11Speaker 5: want him to be a good enough, at least good
- 18:14Speaker 5: enough outside corner to keep Cooper de Gene in the
- 18:16Speaker 5: slot and we'll see what they do at safety. I
- 18:20Speaker 5: still think, well, I know I know when the Eagles
- 18:22Speaker 5: drafted Cooper de Gene, they viewed him as an outside corner.
- 18:25Speaker 3: That's how they viewed him. Some teams viewed him as
- 18:27Speaker 3: a safety.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Eagles viewed him as an outside corner who could thrive
- 18:30Speaker 5: in the nickel. So just because there's they're hurting at
- 18:34Speaker 5: safety doesn't mean Cooper's gonna play there. It's funny because
- 18:36Speaker 5: around OTA's last year was a big storyline. He was
- 18:39Speaker 5: practicing at safety on the first team base defense, and
- 18:44Speaker 5: then that just went away because he started practicing at
- 18:46Speaker 5: corner on the first team base defense.
- 18:50Speaker 2: We will continue to monitor how the Eagles progressed the offseason.
- 18:53Speaker 2: By the time Jeff Mosher returns with us back on
- 18:55Speaker 2: Wednesday here for Football at four, the Eagles could have
- 18:58Speaker 2: made another edition.
- 19:00Speaker 1: And then how to pronounce that guy's name? Right?
- 19:04Speaker 3: We will, we hopefully we will. Who do? Who Do?
- 19:06Speaker 3: Who's your final for? Josh? Oh my goodness, Wednesday.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I'll tell you when, dude, I haven't even done a
- 19:12Speaker 2: bracket yet, Like.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Come on, it's Monday. You gotta get on this thing. Man.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Well you know I'm doing. I'm here by myself in
- 19:19Speaker 2: the studio. You know I'll cry a river for a
- 19:22Speaker 2: hot second. You know, I'm doing a contest in between
- 19:24Speaker 2: the breaks, you know, I got I got Mike Gil
- 19:27Speaker 2: texting me yesterday that people are trying to qualify for
- 19:29Speaker 2: a contest.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I'm like, come on, man, do I get? Do I
- 19:31Speaker 1: get one day to myself?
- 19:32Speaker 3: Like, well, I didn't even know Gil was gonna be
- 19:34Speaker 3: off today. Where is he at?
- 19:36Speaker 1: This is his week to get a clear water?
- 19:38Speaker 3: Oh of course. I mean, I guess Egypt wasn't enough.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Jeez, let's see.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I guess it's my fault. I should have texted you
- 19:44Speaker 2: and Adam and let you guys know.
- 19:46Speaker 5: That's okay, all right, we'll chat wednesday. Give me some
- 19:51Speaker 5: good sleeper, I have some sat John's got screwed by
- 19:53Speaker 5: the way. And I'm I'm a Yukon fan, you know,
- 19:55Speaker 5: being from Connecticut all but like terrible that they got
- 19:58Speaker 5: the fifth seed in the same brand at his Yukon
- 20:00Speaker 5: kidding the two that's awful.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I mean for me, the only the only thing I'm
- 20:05Speaker 2: really hot on right now when it comes to the
- 20:07Speaker 2: tournament is I keep waffling about how much I believe
- 20:10Speaker 2: in Arizona.
- 20:11Speaker 1: That's like my big thing.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Oh, I'm so with you. I'm trying to figure.
- 20:14Speaker 5: I'm looking at that Nova Arizona second round potential matchup,
- 20:18Speaker 5: thinking Nova can win that game.
- 20:20Speaker 3: I do think Nova can win that game.
- 20:22Speaker 2: The crazy thing about the tournament nowadays is that, for
- 20:25Speaker 2: for as much NIL money is out there being thrown around, Jeff,
- 20:29Speaker 2: it's not like it created like that much more parody.
- 20:32Speaker 2: It's not like you're gonna, I don't I don't think
- 20:34Speaker 2: you're going to see, like, you know, a one lose
- 20:37Speaker 2: with sixteen ever again, you know what I mean, Like,
- 20:38Speaker 2: I don't think that stuff's gonna happen anymore.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree.
- 20:41Speaker 5: I think I think the NIL has made the blue
- 20:43Speaker 5: bloods bluer, right, So yeah, yeah, just.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Look at Duke. They got all the got all the boozers.
- 20:49Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, Duke and Michigan to me are the clear best.
- 20:53Speaker 5: I think Florida is just a little tick below, although
- 20:55Speaker 5: they could beat them, and then if for as arison,
- 20:59Speaker 5: I think I actually like Iowa State a lot.
- 21:02Speaker 3: They're kind of like a sleeper for me.
- 21:03Speaker 5: But I don't really see anybody after those first three
- 21:06Speaker 5: that I think I would give like a really good
- 21:08Speaker 5: shot at winning.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I like Michigan State to baby scare somebody to believe,
- 21:13Speaker 2: I mean every year.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Sure.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Well, I mean it's just like you know that that
- 21:17Speaker 2: team feels like a body shot team. It's like, you know,
- 21:19Speaker 2: if you ever watched like a boxer, they go through
- 21:21Speaker 2: their career and they're like like a knockout artist, right,
- 21:24Speaker 2: and then they that one guy that's like an r
- 21:26Speaker 2: O gotty Mickey Ward guy who just body shots you
- 21:29Speaker 2: the death, like I feel like Michigan's Sacred body shot
- 21:32Speaker 2: a team like Duke and just like wear them out.
- 21:36Speaker 5: I could see that, and you know, I think they're
- 21:37Speaker 5: they're the three where the Yukon is the two. So
- 21:39Speaker 5: I could absolutely see them beating up on Yukon and
- 21:43Speaker 5: get to that game.
- 21:44Speaker 2: All right, Jeff, I'll have some more concise answers for
- 21:46Speaker 2: you on Wednesday. I'll be my homework.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I was a little disappointed, Josh. You have to
- 21:49Speaker 3: come come better Wednesday.
- 21:51Speaker 1: I'll do my best.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Thanks Tomorrow.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Tomorrow will be better than ever. Jeff, Thanks man, I
- 21:58Speaker 1: appreciate it. See
