- 0:22SPEAKER_03: Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of the Tortured Fans Department Podcast.
- 0:27SPEAKER_03: As always, I am your host, Sean Boyle, and we have a four-man crew here for you today.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: Joining us first, I will introduce Mr.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: Mark Monero.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: He returns to the show.
- 0:35SPEAKER_03: Mark, how are you?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: I am great, Sean.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Fresh off a great weekend with the boys in Palmyra, Pennsylvania, hosted by our friend Matt of our fantasy draft.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: So good to see you all again.
- 0:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we just spent some good quality time together, and now we're running it back on the podcast for the listeners.
- 0:52SPEAKER_03: I will next introduce one of the drop the mics.
- 0:54SPEAKER_03: Give me Mr.
- 0:55SPEAKER_03: Mike Baum up first.
- 0:56SPEAKER_03: Baum, how are you?
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: Hello, Sean.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: I'm good.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: Thank you for having me.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: Uh echoing Mark's sentiments.
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: It was a great weekend, but uh happy to be here.
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: And last but certainly not least, the other half of the mics, Mr.
- 1:06SPEAKER_03: Michael Collins, MC.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: How are you?
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Incredible, Sean.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: It's the season of talking ball, and I'm ready to talk some ball.
- 1:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, this is officially the start of football season.
- 1:17SPEAKER_03: We have college in the past, we have two weekends in the books, and we've got our first NFL game kicking off today on a Wednesday, which is a whole entire point in and of itself.
- 1:27SPEAKER_03: I have no idea why we're playing football Wednesday night, but I don't hate it.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: The running order for today's show, we will be talking briefly about the Michigan Hail Mary, because we had an interesting take on that watching it all together.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: Then we will be diving into an NFL wins pool.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: We'll explain that when we get to it.
- 1:44SPEAKER_03: Then we have a little segment we like to call Speak Now.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: Basically, each of us are just gonna go around and give some predictions for the upcoming NFL season, and then we will round out the show with our weekly drop the mics segment.
- 1:56SPEAKER_03: So to start things off, boys, uh, I'm gonna pitch the question to Mike Blum because he had the most unique experience watching this Michigan game.
- 2:04SPEAKER_03: At least of the people I know, this is the most unique experience.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: So we were all watching the game together.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: Of course, you guys are probably familiar with what happened.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: Western Michigan seemingly beat Michigan.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: They stop a Hail Mary attempt, no time is left on the clock.
- 2:18SPEAKER_03: All of a sudden, somebody phones down, a second appears back on the clock, a second Hail Mary attempt proves to be successful, Michigan wins and storms the field.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: Blum, is that how you saw it?
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: It was not how I saw it, Sean, as you know.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: So the Saturday night slate game was a bunch of snoozers, as you know, and that was the only good game.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: So my entire mindset was once this game is over, I'm gonna get a shower in.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: So, like you said, the last play, Bryce Underwood throws it, you know, 10 yards over the end zone.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: Clock strikes zero, Western Michigan celebrates, and I'm already washing my hair.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: Of course, as you know, I'm in the shower.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: There's a second left, officials overrule, they get a redo, they Hail Mary completes Michigan wins.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: And I hate bringing this up on the pod for the first time, but slightly a bad look on you guys that I first found out Michigan won when I was in bed at 1 a.m.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: and not when I first walked out, and I was not met with Whoa Blum, you won't believe what you missed.
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: There was not a peep of what happened in that game when I sat back down.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: So I would like to call that out as well.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: I will say, I'll issue an apology on my behalf.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: I hadn't the slightest clue that you went to shower.
- 3:33SPEAKER_03: That wasn't on me.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: I just lost track of people in the moment.
- 3:37SPEAKER_03: I think we were caught up in the reaction.
- 3:38SPEAKER_03: I did not know that you missed all of that, and I could not believe what you were telling me when you said you had no idea until one in the morning.
- 3:45SPEAKER_03: It was truly stunning.
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: Mark, you saw the game live.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: What were your thoughts on it before we ask the expert in this topic?
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: I mean, similar to everyone else, I mean, I what one thing I couldn't wrap my head around was like the difference between the clocks, right?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: The game clock, the NBC clock.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: They had what was up on the screen, what did the refs make their ruling off of?
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: And I mean, it was it was truly unbelievable.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: I feel horrible for Western Michigan.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: That's a life-changing, as we talked about the other night.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Like their coach could go win the Mac, have this game under his red like belt, and be a power five coach, potentially.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: And it's a life-changing loss, unfortunately.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and really tough for the the students, the the players, and whatnot.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: But crazy ending.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, we don't see him every too often, and yeah, it was unbelievable.
- 4:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, poor one out for the Western Michigan Faithful.
- 4:38SPEAKER_03: We have a ref on the panel.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: We're lucky enough.
- 4:40SPEAKER_03: This guy is not just an NFL expert, not just a college expert.
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: He's also a man who wears the stripes.
- 4:46SPEAKER_03: I would love to hear an explanation for this one, MC.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: No, yeah.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, unfortunately, I laid some eyes on the whatever was the in the booth footage that they released, and you can kind of hear them talking, uh talking over it.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: And unfortunately, I think they got it right, sad enough to say, but you can hear them talking and see the video evidence.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: So the Western Michigan player's foot was on the line, he jumped up, touched the ball.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: There was still red one on the clock.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Now, my question is does that need to be reviewed that extensively?
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Like it, you know, they've the entire team was on the field, both teams are on the field, the game, the game was over.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: I don't know that that's something that we need to really go back and and dive into and the extent that we did.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: And I feel very similar in a lot of the basketball games.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, what are we doing with all these reviews?
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: But yeah, just a terrible, terrible look.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: If there is any type of review, it needs to happen like exponentially faster than it did because the team, everybody, the game wasn't entirely over.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: I had a similar experience to Blum, as a matter of fact.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: I flipped the channel and was watching another game, and then I saw a bunch of text and went back and and saw the final play.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: So yeah, no, it's a shame.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Uh, but at the same time, unfortunately, it was the correct call.
- 6:11SPEAKER_03: I'm glad to know that they got it right, at least from a ref's point of view.
- 6:14SPEAKER_03: I will say, once you flip the channel in today's climate too, Collins, it it takes a half hour to get back compared to the old days.
- 6:21SPEAKER_03: No, no more are you able to just punch in a number and get to channel 28 NBC.
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: You're not able to flick the switch up and down and get get across channels easily.
- 6:30SPEAKER_03: This whole streaming experience, you might have to switch apps to see a new game.
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: It's a whole shit show.
- 6:35SPEAKER_03: So that's the only drawback to entering football season is there's going to be a lot of activity on the remote, more so in the dog days of summer where you just barely even have the TV on.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: Boys, we will get back to college at the end of the show when we get into the drop the mics picks.
- 6:50SPEAKER_03: Right now, we have our most important order of business this evening.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: It is an NFL wins pool draft.
- 6:55SPEAKER_03: If you listeners are not familiar with how this works, it is very simple.
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: Basically, we each are going to draft eight teams.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: You get one point per each win.
- 7:05SPEAKER_03: There are some extra bonus points.
- 7:06SPEAKER_03: If you win your division, you'll get an extra point, and then the playoffs will progressively increase in value.
- 7:12SPEAKER_03: But the moral of the story here is we will be picking teams that we expect to win ball games.
- 7:16SPEAKER_03: The draft order for this evening, we're doing it on the fly, and it's going to be the way you guys appear on my screen.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: So it'll be Mark first, followed by Collins, then Blum, and then myself.
- 7:28SPEAKER_03: Does that work for everybody?
- 7:29SPEAKER_03: And Mark, are you ready to go?
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: I'm really happy I got the number one pick because I am absolutely ready to go.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: So let's rock and roll.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: I think this is this should be a pretty obvious one-one safe pick.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Highest upside, lowest floor.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: We're gonna go with the Los Angeles Rams with the scariest defense potentially on planet Earth with Aaron Donald and Miles Garrett on the line.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Uh great offense.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: McVay's a great ball coach.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Gotta go with the LA Rams here.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: I feel like that is sort of a free space on the bingo card.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: They definitely do have the most upside.
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: They would probably be most people's first pick.
- 8:06SPEAKER_03: I definitely had them going in the first round.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: I don't think there's any surprises there.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, totally.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: Sean, you and I kind of beat it into the ground last week.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: The the Rams are are stupid loaded.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: And yeah, there's there's no reason that they shouldn't come out of the NFC room.
- 8:21SPEAKER_03: Now, will they is the question.
- 8:22SPEAKER_03: We'll we'll see.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: A lot of pressure.
- 8:24SPEAKER_03: I will say there's a lot more going into this season on the Rams than there has ever been, and almost more expectations than any of NFL team I can remember.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: No, and we said it last year.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: If they could if Sean McVay could just get the monkey off his back and big the beat those big bad Philadelphia Eagles, then I think they're in pretty good shape.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Age is the question for those Rams, though.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: That's yeah.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: It's kind of a last ride of sorts.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: Collins, who do you got?
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna I'm gonna keep it pretty chalky and probably most people's second team off the board.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: The the upside hasn't necessarily been there.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: Um they've had a couple of chokes in in the playoffs, but regardless, I'm gonna take go ahead and take Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills here.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Brand new head coach, uh Joe Brady, my guy.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: And I'm liking their their chances to uh especially when their division.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Um they have that's that definitely was a a major key uh major player in in this decision.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: That anytime I can play the Jets and the Dolphins each twice, I'll I want to take that as at number two overall.
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're saying the bills are due at some point.
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: Um obviously with Josh Allen, they got DJ Moore, probably his best weapon since Stefan Diggs.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: So uh definitely I was taking the bills if they didn't they you didn't take them.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: Yep, and also the the teams at the bottom of that AFC's division, it's like you said, it's it's basically four free wins already on the board.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: So that certainly helps the Bills' cause as well.
- 9:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, pretty chalky, like I said.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: I'm always interested in how the new stadium is going to affect things.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: They're playing on grass now, not turf.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Don't think it'll affect them much, but you know, the Ralph was a classic venue, so we'll see how they are in the new digs.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I forgot about the new stadium, and honestly, it looks like there's some bad seats in that joint, too.
- 10:18SPEAKER_03: It looks like some poor architecture.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: We're not an architecture show, but uh it seems like there's some real bad seats in the upper deck.
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: Well, we could be.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: Well, we could be.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: I'll tell you what, we wouldn't have railings in the way of a view, I'll tell you that for free.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: All right, so I'm up next.
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: I'll go with a team that surprised some people last year, but I think they're here to stay.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: That is the Denver Broncos.
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: Ran away with the AFC West last year.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: Sean Payton, just the solid ball coach.
- 10:44SPEAKER_02: Bo Nicks has really grown on me over the last couple years.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: Went out and got Jalen Waddell, one of the best defenses in the league.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: They play in a so-so division.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: I think Kansas City has a lot of question marks.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: Um, Chargers always full of injuries, but um, I'll take the Broncos here.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know that I agree that it's a so-so division.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: I think that is a really good division besides the the Raiders who might even be feisty this year.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: But uh I think it's it's difficult.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: But yeah, they're easily one of the more talented defenses, and then you add in uh Jalen Waddle, who Sean Payton will certainly be able to use properly.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: So that's a very good pick, I think.
- 11:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think they also have like the highest rated offensive line in football as well.
- 11:26SPEAKER_03: So that seems like a that seems like a good foundation, good defense, good O-line.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: And you just don't know Bo.
- 11:33SPEAKER_03: You just don't know what you're gonna get with Bo, but it has been pretty good.
- 11:36SPEAKER_03: It's been better than I expected for sure.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: So I don't I don't hate that pick one bit.
- 11:40SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go maybe outside the box.
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 11:44SPEAKER_03: I'm high on this team, so I don't really know what the consensus will be in this group, but I'm gonna take the Houston Texans.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: I'm a big believer in this defense.
- 11:52SPEAKER_03: I think CJ Stroud has a bounce back year.
- 11:55SPEAKER_03: And I will also note, I do think this division is a little bit weaker than most.
- 12:00SPEAKER_03: Yes, I there are some teams that could be frisky.
- 12:03SPEAKER_03: I'm not gonna diminish them, but they still haven't proven it.
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: And I do think the Texans defense is the best unit in this division by a wide margin.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: So give me the Texans led by D'Amico Ryans.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think the the issue with them has always been offensive line play.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: Um obviously CJ Stroud did not have the best end of year last year.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: Uh David Montgomery, they went out and signed.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: Uh most Jaden, Jaden Higgins, unfortunately, to Horn ACL.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: Nico Collins, great.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: But uh yeah, I expect that team to win the division for sure.
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: That's that's basically what I'm hoping for.
- 12:33SPEAKER_03: I'm hoping to get a division bonus point there and hopefully double-digit wins.
- 12:37SPEAKER_03: And then on a similar note, I'm gonna take my talents to the NFC East.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna take the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 12:45SPEAKER_03: I just think we know what we're gonna get from them.
- 12:47SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be pretty good.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: I'd be shocked if they didn't win that division.
- 12:51SPEAKER_03: I expect actually a bounce back season of sorts.
- 12:54SPEAKER_03: I I know last year was still pretty good, but I expect them to be a real contender this year.
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: And like you mentioned, MC, the Rams still haven't gone to Philly and beaten the big bad birds.
- 13:03SPEAKER_03: So I will be taking my Philadelphia Eagles.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: John, I I I'm bullish on the birds as well, clearly.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: That scares me.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: But it's funny that you say you'd be shocked if they didn't win the division.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I think the Eagles will win the division as well, but the the pundits out there.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, I watched some NFL network this morning, and people are picking the the big star down in Dallas.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: And and I don't know.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: But so I'm interested to hear your thoughts on kind of the momentum that some others seem to have around.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: Well, well, Mark, that's a good point because you're right.
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: A lot of people are talking about that big star.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: But as me and Michael Collins talked about last week, this is the Cowboys time of year.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: August, September, that star is everywhere.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: In December, it's not.
- 13:50SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna let the games play out.
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: They need to prove it to me.
- 13:54SPEAKER_03: And I do think they could.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: I'm not gonna rule them out, but I would rather have the bird in hand.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: That analogy, everybody knows how it goes.
- 14:01SPEAKER_03: I can't quite remember it right this second, but I know it has something to do with a bird in my hand, so I will take the birds.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I think on December 25th, the only star you're gonna be seeing is on top of the Christmas tree.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: So that's why I'm more bullish on the Eagles.
- 14:16SPEAKER_03: I just think it's a safer pick with similar upside, honestly.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: All right, so I'm up now, and I am surprised that I'll be getting this team.
- 14:25SPEAKER_02: We call them the Super Bowl champion, reigning Super Bowl champion, Seattle Seahawks.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: Uh, understand in this format why, just because the toughest division in football, Rams are favorites to win the division.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: But they're basically running the team back besides losing Kenneth Walker, uh, drafted to Jerry and Price out of Notre Dame in the first round.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: JSN's still later best receiver in football, one of the best defenses in the league.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: So uh happy to get the Seahawks here with my second round pick.
- 14:50SPEAKER_03: It's a good pick.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: You're not gonna hear me say a bad word about that group.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: Of course not.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: Incredibly well coached.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: They they lost some key pieces, but boy, I wouldn't I don't want them on my schedule.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: They are on my schedule, and I don't uh I hate it.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: I I do slightly worry about the loss of uh an MC guy, Clint Kubiak.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: How is that gonna affect the offense?
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: You know, Darnold looked great last year.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: JSM was catching seemed like 70-yard bombs every game.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: I think the defense will be great.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: But there, I think there's some question marks, maybe that's why they slipped to the second, but a great value pick for you, Michael.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: And and additionally, Blum mentioned they got Jadarian Price, who's hopefully gonna kind of slide into that Kenneth Walker role, but Charbonnet's still out as well, and they really kind of thrived on that one-two punch last year to to spur the offense in the running game.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: So I don't know if they'll be searching for the number two still.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: So it's me for two, then, right?
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: One mark has two.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, right.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: I guess I will take the Baltimore Ravens.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: Not the ideal situation in terms of division.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: That's always one that there's punches thrown and absolute battles, regardless besides the uh Cleveland Browns, of course, that is.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: But uh yeah, I mean another new head coach, Jesse Minter, who I said last week I don't know much about.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: I still don't know much about him.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: But a team with firepower like this and just a winning uh history within the last 10 plus years, then I think it would be foolish for me to go elsewhere.
- 16:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's they're they're a pretty good pick.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: And honestly, I hate to say it, but they consistently find their way around that 10-win mark.
- 16:38SPEAKER_03: So if you can get that in the second round, even with a new ball coach, they're still a really talented team.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: I think they're gonna be right around that total again.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Me for two.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: So first pick, I'm gonna go with a bounce back candidate from last year, but someone a team that has been very good in the past.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: They are in a tough division, but I do see them making a run and being back at the top of that division this year.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: So give me Dan Campbell's Detroit Lions.
- 17:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, I was thinking of it's a strong start.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: It's a strong start with the Rams and Lions.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: And I got another a bit of a maybe a reach, but I'm bullish on him too.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: I'm excited.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Give me the other boys in LA.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: The LA Chargers.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Mike McDaniel's offense with Justin Herbert.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: The possibilities are endless.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: It also could just you know, fall flat on its face, but I'm excited about it, and uh, I think it'll be fun to root for him.
- 17:34SPEAKER_03: This hurts.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: I was eyeing up the Chargers next time.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: They weren't getting back to you, pal.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: They were about to go to me.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: I love DJ Mike McD.
- 17:44unknown: Yeah.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: I mean, they're the they're the ultimate what-if team.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: What if they stay healthy?
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: What if Herbert could put it together?
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, so we'll have to wait and see.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I am not a uh a betting man, but uh Justin Herbert is my dark horse MVP candidate this year.
- 18:01SPEAKER_03: Ooh, Blub, we love that.
- 18:03SPEAKER_03: As a as a owner in the Dynasty League, I love that.
- 18:08SPEAKER_03: Stocks only go up.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: So I will go with uh I'm gonna take the Chicago Bears, reigning uh NFC North.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: I hey, I wanted the Chargers, reigning NFC North champions, I believe, right?
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: And uh beat the Packers in the playoffs last year.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: Caleb Williams, a butting star.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: They've got a lot of skill, uh, skill player talent on the offensive side.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: I think they they led the league in turnovers defensively, like by a lot.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: And so defend depending on who you listen to, they might be saying that's a bad thing going into this year.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: I think teams who are good at generating turnovers are good at generating turnovers.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: So let's keep it going, boys.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they've touted them as a regression candidate because of that stat.
- 18:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but I also think if you look at it on the other side, it's like that was the first year with Ben Johnson.
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: And look at the turnaround he gave in just one offseason.
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: Look at what he could do in two.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: So I, of course, was gonna take the Bears next.
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: You we mentioned Jadarian Price earlier.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: This guy, MC, my closest confidant, just continues to pull one over on me.
- 19:19SPEAKER_03: He did it in the fantasy draft at the weekend, Jadarian Price, the same round I was gonna take him, and he gave me a sheepish grin.
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: And then here he goes, Bears right in my face, too.
- 19:27SPEAKER_03: It's tough.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: John, you've been getting uh, you know, the short end of the stick from some of your some of your boys between Jadarian Price, between the Bears, Shane taking George Kittle directly before you in the fantasy draft.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: You're your messiah.
- 19:42SPEAKER_03: It's a cold world.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: It's it's a cold world.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: It's been a tough few days, and I feel for you.
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: Well, thank you, Mark.
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: And I didn't want to bring the Shane one up because that wound is still fresh, and that one shouldn't even be aired publicly.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: That's how deep that one hurts.
- 19:53SPEAKER_03: So that will be an offline conversation.
- 19:55SPEAKER_03: This one, it's a surface-level wound from MC, but it is noted and will be used against him in the future nonetheless.
- 20:02SPEAKER_02: All right, so I'm up next, and I guess I'll probably take that other team that was in the Super Bowl last year, uh, the New England Patriots.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: I understand they are probably a probably a regression candidate.
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: I know there's they had the soft schedule last year, but they have my favorite coach in the league, Mike Brable, Drake May, one of the best young quarterbacks in the league.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: Went out and got him AJ Brown.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: Uh defense has been very hot and cold last year, but uh again, a team that's gonna be competing for a division with the Bills, um, I think it's a great third round value.
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's definitely good value.
- 20:37SPEAKER_03: And where I was going, of course.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was thinking about taking them as well, but I uh had the Bills already on my board.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: Probably stupid for me to just go based off of that, but that's what I did.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: That's an interesting wrinkle to this, too.
- 20:51SPEAKER_03: Is do you want to double up in the division?
- 20:53SPEAKER_03: Because I'm currently facing that same issue, and I'm choosing to go along the same lines as you, Collins, and avoid it for now.
- 20:59SPEAKER_03: And I will eventually have to do it, but just not yet.
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: My first pick, Bayou Boyle, baby.
- 21:05SPEAKER_03: He's back.
- 21:05SPEAKER_03: Give me the Bengals, Joey Shisty.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: Sort of another what if team, uh, right along with the Chargers.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, if they can piece it together, they finally made a couple moves defensively that I know that Bengals fans are, of course, hoping turns out well, but we'll have to see.
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: We will.
- 21:24SPEAKER_03: And it's honestly uh it's it's very similar vibes to the Chargers.
- 21:29SPEAKER_03: It's can they block and can they keep their quarterback upright?
- 21:32SPEAKER_03: And if they could, they have a pretty decent chance to be successful.
- 21:34SPEAKER_03: And then my second pick, this is where it gets really tough.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna do it, and I don't even believe in this pick, but I just think it at this point in the draft, they need to come off the board.
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: I'll take the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: I don't want to do it.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: I don't even believe in it.
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: I think they might stink.
- 21:50SPEAKER_03: I have a hot take later that is gonna spit right in the face of this pick, but they are a dynasty of sorts, and in the fourth round, I feel like it's worth taking a punt.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Sean, that is where I was going as well.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: Again, people are, I think, are writing the Chiefs off.
- 22:05SPEAKER_02: I don't know if it's Mahomes, you know, injury, the lack of weapons, but uh you all they always have to be in the conversation.
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, until proven otherwise.
- 22:15SPEAKER_03: Last year was just a blip on the radar, I think.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean we have four of us, we're each picking four teams.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: You're telling me the Chiefs aren't gonna be a top 16 team.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: I I'd be hard pressed to bet against that with all they all they have going.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, proven track record of success, Andy Reid.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: I mean, we we talked about it last week.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: They were like actively a bad team, at least on the offensive side of the ball, two seasons ago, and then and they wound up in the Super Bowl.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: So what's that?
- 22:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: Alright, so I'm up next, and I'll go with the team that I think will compete with the Texans in the AFC South.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: That's the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 22:57SPEAKER_02: Had a great start to the year last year, fell off at the end of the year.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: Trevor Lawrence showed some MVP flashes last year as well.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: Uh, great weapons.
- 23:06SPEAKER_02: Uh big fan of Liam Cohen.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: So uh I'll go with the the Jags here for my fourth round.
- 23:12SPEAKER_03: They were one of those pesky teams I was referring to, Bloom.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: I said the Texans, I think they'll win the division, but there's a couple pesky ones, and the the Jags were primarily the one I was talking about.
- 23:21SPEAKER_03: If they can build upon last year, they could even win the division, I think.
- 23:24SPEAKER_03: But I just it's one of those where it could go either way for me.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: It could be a regression candidate or it could be they were building something, and I'm interested to see how it plays out.
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like I don't fully trust Trevor yet in those like must-win games.
- 23:37SPEAKER_02: He hasn't shown that kind of killer instinct yet.
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: But uh the team as a whole, I'm a fan of, so excited to see what they do this year.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I like the pick a lot, Mike.
- 23:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think it's pretty good value.
- 23:49SPEAKER_03: Now we're at the point where you're not trusting any of these teams super far.
- 23:54SPEAKER_03: Like, I don't think any of us are taking teams that we're picking now to go deep into the playoffs, but you might be able to find some value and get a 10-win team in round four, which is a good pick.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Sean, you you kind of just uh gave a a perfect preview of who I'm about to pick because uh, well, I was kind of between two teams that I absolutely despise.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: And I think I'm just gonna go with a third party here because I'm chasing a uh a point on a division winner.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: Somebody's gotta go win the NFC South, and I think that's the Tampa Bay Buccaneers division to lose.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Um, so can they just get to nine, ten wins for me, uh, win the division, give me that extra point, and then hey, maybe they maybe they steal one in the playoffs.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: Who knows?
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: They get a home game for winning the division.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: So uh yeah, Tampa Bay Bucks, Baker Mayfield, welcome to Team Collins.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: New contract too for Baker.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, thanks so much for leaving me with the two that you absolutely despise because I was hoping you'd maybe leave something, leave something open for him.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna go with the San Francisco Substation 49ers here.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: Um, they're gonna compete with my first round pick in the Rams, but I do think that they will put up a decent number of wins, probably make a wild card, maybe make some noise in the playoffs, and they always seem to be around, but it's gonna be interesting.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: Hopefully they stay healthy and all their knees are intact.
- 25:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the hoping they stay healthy is the big one.
- 25:19SPEAKER_03: We'll see if they're able to do that.
- 25:21SPEAKER_03: They're another team that's sneaky, pretty old.
- 25:23SPEAKER_03: They got old pretty quick, and I would say it's nearing the end of their window.
- 25:27SPEAKER_03: I know Purdy's not old, but McCaffrey, Kittle, Fred Warner, Trent Williams, those sorts of guys are all old.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: So it's kind of do or die for the Niners.
- 25:37SPEAKER_03: And I think they might be a good candidate to buy low on.
- 25:39SPEAKER_03: I because of their division and how strong those other two teams are.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: I think maybe some people are forgetting about the 49ers a little bit.
- 25:46SPEAKER_03: It's just not a super exciting pick.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: Good value, though.
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, for sure.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: Yep, definitely value.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: They're another team that is the the age number is very daunting on the on the defensive side.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: They already have some injuries on offense, so you said it's substation.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: That's your biggest foe right now.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, forget about the divisional opponents, forget about the trip to Australia.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: It's the it's their backyard, it's their practice facility.
- 26:13SPEAKER_03: Who's your next one?
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: I thought we were done.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: Is it four four rounds or more?
- 26:18SPEAKER_03: Doing every team in the NFL.
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: I thought we were drafting every single team, yeah.
- 26:22SPEAKER_03: Every eight picks each.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: Okay, well then disregard my comment earlier about there being I thought it was a four-team, but I love this.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: This is this is gonna be fun.
- 26:30SPEAKER_03: No, you win on the margins down at the bottom here.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm excited to draft the guys at the bottom of the draft.
- 26:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: We're not there yet.
- 26:38SPEAKER_03: There's still a couple decent teams.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm gonna go similar at vibe to the Niners in that it could be alright.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: I don't know, but they should have a decent floor.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go with the Green Bay Packers.
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yep.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: Those are those are some good picks, Mark.
- 26:52SPEAKER_03: You have a strong, you have a strong outfit put together so far.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: And he's doing the opposite of what we said, Boyle, where he's got the Rams and the Niners, and he's also got the Lions and the Packers.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: So yeah, he's doubling up on those divisions.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, almost, yep.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: But all of those teams could be like good profounds.
- 27:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, that's not bad.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, that leaves me with having to do exactly what I didn't want to do, and that's gonna be Cowboy Collins.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: He's back taking taking the Dallas Cowboys.
- 27:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, realistically speaking, there's a lot of ways this season could go poorly for the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: The Cowboys have offensive firepower power out the Waz.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: If they clean up the their defense just a little bit, they are gonna be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC East for sure.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: They got Coach Floos out of the building.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: That's a that's a huge win already.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Uh may as well be a point for me already.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: So I won't be rooting for them, but I am taking Dallas Cowboys.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: I'm proud of you call that was I think the obvious pick to make with the teams left on the board.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: So that says a lot of things.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: I thought it was the obvious pick on my last round.
- 28:04SPEAKER_03: Oh, I was hoping the two Eagles fans there, one and two, wouldn't do it and they would get back to us, but I guess you were gonna take them anyway, Bum.
- 28:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: I was, but I will pivot to so I'm gonna go back to the NFC South.
- 28:18SPEAKER_02: It is just, you know, an ugly, ugly division.
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: I'm going to go with the team that won it last year and almost won a playoff game, the Carolina Panthers.
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: I've never been a Bryce Young guy, but Dave Canales has proven a lot being in Carolina.
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: Uh great defense.
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: Uh, Ted McMillan, big fan of Jalen Coker, Jonathan Brooks should be back this year.
- 28:42SPEAKER_02: Again, the team's not like a sexy team, but playing in that division, I think it's anyone's game.
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: So uh I'll take a shot on my Panthers.
- 28:52SPEAKER_03: It certainly is anyone's game.
- 28:53SPEAKER_03: They they won the division last year.
- 28:55SPEAKER_03: So you're getting div a former division champ trying to defend.
- 28:58SPEAKER_03: And honestly, if you are sitting here and honestly predicting who's gonna win the NFC South, I got news for you.
- 29:04SPEAKER_03: You're a better man than me.
- 29:05SPEAKER_03: You're smarter than I'll ever be because I can't do it.
- 29:07SPEAKER_03: Never have been able to, never will.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think you know, getting teams in the NFC South is smart because you never know who's gonna win.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: There's a chance for all four of them to pick up that extra division point and sticking with the team that won it the year before is certainly not a bad bet, Bum.
- 29:22SPEAKER_03: I will just go ahead and say I hate that I gave myself the fourth pick in this.
- 29:26SPEAKER_03: It is officially going to be under protest.
- 29:29SPEAKER_03: That will be a point for later in the season.
- 29:32SPEAKER_03: I don't like any of these options, but there's one team I love, and it's not because I love the outfit on the field, but I have to love them.
- 29:40SPEAKER_03: It is the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: Give me the Steelers.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: I you we're gonna win nine games.
- 29:44SPEAKER_03: What do you mean?
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: Nine wins this round of the draft?
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: That's a that's a great pick.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm incredibly bullish on the Steelers this year.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Give me give me Aaron Rodgers and dive on the field.
- 29:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm not I'm not bullish, but death taxes, and nine and eight Steelers season.
- 30:01SPEAKER_03: Now, could that have been because of Mike Tomlin?
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: That is a good possibility.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: We will we will wait and see.
- 30:08SPEAKER_03: My other pick, I want to get a piece of this division, and I missed out on all of the teams I would have taken, but I do still think the Minnesota Vikings are going to be good.
- 30:18SPEAKER_03: Everybody tells me Kevin O'Connell's a good coach.
- 30:21SPEAKER_03: Everybody tells me Brian Flores is a great defensive coordinator.
- 30:25SPEAKER_03: Let's see it again, boys, because you have to do some magic with this quarterback room to really talk me into it.
- 30:33SPEAKER_03: But I think they might be able to squeeze just enough out of Kyler.
- 30:36SPEAKER_03: I think they won seven or eight games last year with an absolute shitshow at quarterback.
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: Kyler has proven he's at least an NFL court level quarterback.
- 30:44SPEAKER_03: I think they'll be able to get a little bit more out of him than they than we saw in Arizona.
- 30:48SPEAKER_03: And I think Flores with the defense can make the hole better than the sum of its parts.
- 30:52SPEAKER_03: So I'll take the Minnesota Vikings.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: I like the Vikings this year.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: I think they're very intriguing.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: They have the talent.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, Kyler Murray and Justin Jefferson, like you said, Brian Flores on D playing most of their games in a dome uh for their for the home home games.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: I like them.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: They're they're intriguing at pick 22.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, I it's we're gonna start just about to start scraping the bottom of the barrel, and I think you got a good one here.
- 31:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was going to be my pick as well.
- 31:20SPEAKER_02: Tough division of football, but again, Kevin O'Connell is a QB wizard, so uh curious to see what he can do with Skyler.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: Me too, and make sure we get 18 the ball early and awesome.
- 31:33SPEAKER_02: Alright, uh, so I'm up next, and I'll go back to the AFC South and go to a team that was the best team in football, I think through the first nine or ten weeks of the year, and that was the Indianapolis Tults.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: They have Daniel Jones back.
- 31:52SPEAKER_02: Hopefully he's healthy.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: Their defense came out of nowhere last year.
- 31:55SPEAKER_02: It was one of the best units in football.
- 31:57SPEAKER_02: Lost Michael Pittman to the Steelers, but they have Jonathan Taylor, one of the best running backs.
- 32:01SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, kind of a hodgepodge of weapons with Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, Tyler Warren.
- 32:06SPEAKER_02: But again, I wouldn't be surprised if they win that division.
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: So uh happy to get the goals this late.
- 32:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was really hoping to get them right here.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: I I totally agree.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: I mean, Shane Steichen is a very good coach, in my opinion.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: They did, I don't know if you if I just missed you mentioned this, but they just brought Keenan Allen back too.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: So nice little example.
- 32:26SPEAKER_03: If he could say if he could call an Uber, he's back.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: Nice little extra weapon there.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, yeah, if Daniel Jones is healthy, I think they don't miss a beat from where they were early next early last season.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: You know, I said about a pick ago when Sean uh was picking that we are close to the bottom of the barrel.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: After this pick, I think we've officially reached that's that's what I was gonna say, Mark.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: There's a drop-off.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: It is now full on poo-poo platter.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: That's exactly what it is.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: Two more teams.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: Ooh! This is gonna be good.
- 33:00SPEAKER_03: There's a couple teams I could talk myself into, but I need a few drinks.
- 33:03SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: I know Collins is gonna take the one I like.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: I know it.
- 33:07SPEAKER_03: I think I know who Michael Collins is taking.
- 33:09SPEAKER_03: And if I if I know my guy, I can run I can circle it right now.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: It's uh I guess I will just just just for the bit, but I don't even like I don't even like the Atlanta Falcons this year, but I'm I'm gonna do it anyway.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Maybe if one of one of these quarterbacks finds something, maybe, maybe uh what what's his name?
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: Jacob something the third stringer.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: He who knows?
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: He comes in, finds a little lightning in the bottle.
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: I think they this team might be tanking for a quarterback, uh, and I think that would might behoove them, but there's also probably just a little bit more talent on on uh this roster than some of the others that I was eyeing up here.
- 33:50SPEAKER_01: So whatever, fuck it.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: I'll take the Atlanta Falcons.
- 33:53SPEAKER_03: Also, that wasn't even the team I was talking about.
- 33:55SPEAKER_03: There's another one I'll bring up when they're taking Collins.
- 33:58SPEAKER_03: That I you're in my head, you're synonymous with a particular guy.
- 34:02SPEAKER_03: So that I do think this was the second team I would have chosen for you, though.
- 34:07SPEAKER_03: But the Tua experience, I'm glad you're signing up for that.
- 34:10SPEAKER_03: That's an interesting one.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: I'm not interested in it, that's the thing.
- 34:15SPEAKER_03: I think you are, and it's Kevin's Defansky, he wins a lot of games.
- 34:20SPEAKER_03: People tell me he's a good ghost, too.
- 34:22SPEAKER_03: It's just people do say they'll be fine.
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: I I talk trash.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: They do play the Steelers week one.
- 34:28SPEAKER_03: I do hold the right to walk back every comment if we lose that game.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: But but again, I mean it's it's the easiest uh division in in football to scrape a couple wins out.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I I guess that's all I can really say about it.
- 34:42SPEAKER_03: They could win any division game.
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: It wouldn't stunt anybody if any team won any division game.
- 34:47SPEAKER_03: So that's not a bad pick.
- 34:48SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go with someone that I have primed for a take on speak now later in the show, and I'm gonna go with the New Orleans Saints.
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: I like the New Orleans Saints this year.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: I like Kellen Moore, I like Tyler Shuck, I like Travis A.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: Chan.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: Big Oyster.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: The Big Oyster.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: Spike all Shuck.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: That's great.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm I'm I feel okay about him.
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: Then that's the division I want to be in for this win spool, the NFC South.
- 35:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think that's the best thing you could say at this point in the draft.
- 35:15SPEAKER_03: I feel okay about him.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: And that was one of the two teams I like tomorrow.
- 35:19SPEAKER_03: Oh, there it is.
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: Now, my second one, I am a coin flip between two teams left over in the same division.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: I want to get into this division just because it could be could be frisky.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: Um and I'm gonna make the pick on the fly because I think they have a little bit more talent, although I think they're a little bit more volatile.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna go with the New York football giants.
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: I like I think Harbaugh can write the ship.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: I think they might be able to scrape some wins together and potentially be at the bottom of that wildcard tier and again, bottom of the barrel here.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: And uh I don't know.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: I have some faith in them.
- 35:53SPEAKER_03: I think there's something to be said at this point in the draft for getting Harbaugh there.
- 35:57SPEAKER_03: I'm not a Harbaugh believer.
- 35:58SPEAKER_03: I think his great days of a coach have passed him by, but I do think he has a certain floor, and I don't think the floor is the bottom of the NFL, which is what we're about to be drafting.
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: So I think that's a pretty good pick.
- 36:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Mark, you said you have a little bit of faith in the New York Giants.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: I have absolutely no faith whatsoever in these New York Giants.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: But having said that, the NFC East games are are always battles and they'll steal one or two of them.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I mean they'll they'll they'll scrape together a few wins for you, maybe.
- 36:30unknown: Maybe.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: Will he be out?
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: How many games will he be out there?
- 36:35SPEAKER_01: Four, five, six?
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: Who's to say?
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the QB running back room total games played stat might be real low for the New York Giants.
- 36:44SPEAKER_03: I feel like both those guys run into trouble.
- 36:46SPEAKER_03: Literally.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: Oh, it is back to me.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: Shoot.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna take Michael Blum's Tennessee Titans.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: My guy Cam Ward.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: I don't really have all that much to say about him, but that's I hope they can win a couple games.
- 37:03SPEAKER_03: I was eyeing those Titans up.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: So that was actually not the team I was going for.
- 37:09SPEAKER_02: They are the best of the Titans.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: I didn't I didn't think it was.
- 37:12SPEAKER_02: I didn't think so, either.
- 37:13SPEAKER_02: They were the best of the bottom six, but I would have taken the the commanders over them.
- 37:18SPEAKER_02: I mean Yeah, I would not.
- 37:20SPEAKER_02: I would just would not.
- 37:21SPEAKER_02: Two years ago.
- 37:22SPEAKER_02: I mean, if you want to just buy the the Jaden Daniels hype, I understand he had a bad year last year, but I think at this late, you get a team with wildcard potential, and I don't think you could say that about any of the remaining teams here.
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: So that's fair.
- 37:37SPEAKER_02: I'll take my commanders.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 37:39SPEAKER_01: They definitely have a higher ceiling than teams like the Titans.
- 37:42SPEAKER_01: That yeah, because we've seen the said ceiling.
- 37:45SPEAKER_03: Colin's kind of more along the lines of you with the Titans, but the problem is I keep talking to my guy Blum here about them, and I'm like, hey, I drafted Cam Ward, what do you think?
- 37:54SPEAKER_03: Hey, I drafted Carnell Tate, what do you think?
- 37:56SPEAKER_03: Hey, I drafted Wandale, what do you think?
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: And every time I look over, he's just kind of giving me the like, now they kind of stink like Carnel Tate didn't have a catch all preseason, dude.
- 38:03SPEAKER_03: Like, so I'm not as bullish as I was a couple weeks ago on the Titans, but I still think it's a decent pick.
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: And the commanders, I think that's kind of where you have to go at this point in the draft.
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: And just real quick back to my Titan Sean.
- 38:15SPEAKER_02: I think Carnell Tate will be a very good NFL receiver.
- 38:18SPEAKER_02: It's just unfortunate that receivers are byproducts of their environment.
- 38:22SPEAKER_02: So hopefully Cam Ward is better than he was in the preseason, but what I saw was not encouraging.
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: Great to hear my whole entire dynasty hopes hitch on the back of Cam Ward.
- 38:34SPEAKER_03: So we'll see how that goes.
- 38:36SPEAKER_03: I have my final two picks, and thank God these are my final two.
- 38:39SPEAKER_03: The first team I'm gonna take, I'm pretty into.
- 38:42SPEAKER_03: And this was the team I thought you might like, Collins, because it's your guy at the helm.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: So give me Clint Kubiak's Las Vegas Raiders.
- 38:50SPEAKER_03: I don't know why I've found myself becoming kind of bullish on the Raiders this year.
- 38:55SPEAKER_03: It is Kirk Cousins for the first few weeks at least.
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: I just kind of think I love Clint Kubiak, and I think he's smart and will get at least a tune out of these boys.
- 39:05SPEAKER_03: So maybe that looks like five wins, maybe it looks like eight wins on the upper end.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: I'm choosing to believe it'll be more towards eight, and that's why I'll go with them.
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, in that division, I just think it's gonna be really difficult for them to win more than six games, maybe.
- 39:20SPEAKER_01: But uh, yeah, I don't know.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: That's I do love Clint Kubiak, and I like I think Fernando Mendoza, I actually kind of just recently found out that Kirk Cousins is starting the year.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: But whenever Mendoza does wind up getting in, I'm hopeful that that he'll be decent enough in year one.
- 39:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: Now, could I name a single defender?
- 39:42SPEAKER_03: No, I can't, but I can name you Brock Bowers and Ash and Jenny.
- 39:45SPEAKER_03: Max Crosby.
- 39:45SPEAKER_03: They still have Max Crosby though?
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 39:47SPEAKER_03: I thought he was a hostage in Baltimore, but now he's back.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: No, he's back.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: I was that's what I was about to say is that I I think there's something there to work with.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: With Genty and Max, got quite a bit.
- 39:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, exactly.
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: And then last but not least, this is the grossest pick I'll ever make with any ounce of pride, but I have some pride around this pick.
- 40:05SPEAKER_03: I am a believer in the New York football jets this year.
- 40:11SPEAKER_03: I I don't know why, I don't know how.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: But they will be.
- 40:15SPEAKER_03: Here's my bold prediction.
- 40:16SPEAKER_03: They won't be a bottom five team, which is a proud that's a banner day in New York.
- 40:20SPEAKER_03: That's a banner day.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: You might be the first person this year to say, quote, I am a believer in the New York Jets this year.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: Maybe we should get that printed on a t-shirt when they when they make the wild card, but in perspective to their in respect to their prognostication, I think that's where I'm aiming.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I mean, I think they'll win five games.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: Now, what I'm interested to see with these bottom five teams are like if so this is the the 27 draft class is absolutely loaded up with quarterbacks.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: If one college quarterback were to separate himself as the clear number one overall pick, are we gonna see some tanking?
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: Are we gonna see some some real bad uh teams put out on the field late in the season?
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: Um I'm just interested to see.
- 41:07SPEAKER_01: And the Jets are for sure a candidate for something like that, as are the next the next three teams that are gonna be picked here.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: For sure.
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: For sure.
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: It's just if you look around the room, I I don't like any of those teams that are left, and I could kind of talk myself into some of the skill positions that you are.
- 41:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so the the team I'll take last, again, these are all terrible teams, so I'm not gonna hype any of them up.
- 41:28SPEAKER_02: Uh, but they do have a quarterback that has some excitement around him.
- 41:31SPEAKER_02: Uh that's Malik Willis.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: Showed some real flashes in Green Bay last year.
- 41:35SPEAKER_02: Can he throw the ball?
- 41:37SPEAKER_02: Not really.
- 41:37SPEAKER_02: But again, he's very mobile.
- 41:39SPEAKER_02: Uh former Titans draft pick.
- 41:41SPEAKER_02: Again, I'm not like he played with the Jets twice, so maybe they can go 2 and 15.
- 41:46SPEAKER_02: But I'll I'll take the Dolphins.
- 41:48SPEAKER_02: You watch about those will be those will be bets between me and you, buddy.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: I would love the bet Dolphins Jets games at least, Boyle.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: That would be a lot.
- 41:57SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 41:57SPEAKER_03: Just go ahead and board bet and launch, run it back, launch bet.
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: Give me the J-E-T-S.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: I did forget, is Aaron Glenn still the Jets coach?
- 42:05SPEAKER_03: Because that could be an issue.
- 42:06SPEAKER_03: I was thinking they got a new young hotshot coordinator in that I didn't know the name of, but then I was thinking more about it, and I'm like, no, it might still be Aaron Glenn.
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, give it a month, though.
- 42:15SPEAKER_03: Who's to say?
- 42:16SPEAKER_03: True, give it a month.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: Get a fat interim in there and really turn the tide in October.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: Speaking of, is he still their head coach?
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm gonna take the Arizona Cardinals uh out of principle and leave Massage Boy for Mark Monera.
- 42:29SPEAKER_01: I think Jonathan Gannon is still their head coach.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: They're trotting out Jacoby Brissett, you know, Carson Beck flashed explosives everywhere.
- 42:38SPEAKER_01: Carson Beck flashed a little bit in the preseason.
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: Maybe they get crazy, toss him in there.
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: Um Jeremiah Love might run wild.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: Who's who knows?
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: Now they won't win a game in the division, then that's an issue.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: But if we could get a few elsewhere, who's gonna break the news to him?
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: Is is John Gannon out?
- 42:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I think it's better.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: I'm sure of course it's way better than Mike LaFleur, Matt's brother from the Rams.
- 43:07SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 43:07SPEAKER_00: Is that breaking news?
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: You heard it here first.
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: I Colin said the day of the NFL season starting.
- 43:13SPEAKER_04: I mean, I was on blue.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I didn't know that either.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: I was on the same line as you, Boyle, thinking I'm not positive if this guy is still the coach, but I thought it might have been, and I'm ecstatic to hear that it's not.
- 43:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you won your end of the deal.
- 43:26SPEAKER_03: I lost mine.
- 43:28SPEAKER_03: That's that's the problem.
- 43:29SPEAKER_03: I still have Bozo, Aaron Glenn.
- 43:31SPEAKER_03: He thought they were a good team last year.
- 43:33SPEAKER_03: Mark, who's the best team?
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 43:36SPEAKER_00: There's a there's a couple choices here.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: I could go with you know, some teams from the CFL.
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: I might take over them.
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: I might take a college team, but unfortunately, I'm gonna be stuck with the Cleveland Browns.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: We do have a new coach, Todd Munkin.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: I have no idea what to expect from them, other than probably two to three wins.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: They want a quarterback.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: But you know what?
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: If Massage Boy sits down at the start of the year, it's Chadur time, baby.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: Get that get that watch up.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: Shah Dossi.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: Could be could be Taylor and Green time.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, I I I'm I'm stuck here, but I got the first pick and that's my penance for it.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: So we'll see what happens.
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: Go Browns.
- 44:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, like you said, the last like five or six picks in this draft were pretty bleak.
- 44:19SPEAKER_03: So if any of us are able to get six wins out of those teams, that would be a win, I would, I would say.
- 44:25SPEAKER_03: That does it for the NFL wins pool.
- 44:27SPEAKER_03: We'll keep you guys updated throughout the season as we go along who's doing well, who's not.
- 44:31SPEAKER_03: We should introduce the punishment and the reward for the winner.
- 44:34SPEAKER_03: We didn't talk about this off the top, but the winner of the wins pool will get a nice bottle of wine or spirit of their choosing paid for by the other three.
- 44:43SPEAKER_03: So it doesn't need to be super expensive, but everybody chips in 20 bucks,$60 bottle of wine, that's a real nice beverage.
- 44:50SPEAKER_03: And then the loser has to do a 10-minute book report on the podcast.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: It doesn't need to be a book necessarily, but it will be a topic of the winner's choosing.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: The loser needs to come in and do a PowerPoint style presentation here on the podcast.
- 45:03SPEAKER_03: And I would assume the topic won't be the most admirable.
- 45:06SPEAKER_03: So that's what we're trying to avoid.
- 45:08SPEAKER_03: You don't want to be in last.
- 45:10SPEAKER_03: You could handle being second or third.
- 45:12SPEAKER_03: You do want that bottle of wine or a spirit of your choice if you're a bourbon fan, whatever the case may be.
- 45:16SPEAKER_03: So that's what we have for the Winds Pool.
- 45:18SPEAKER_03: Let's move to the Speak Now segment.
- 45:20SPEAKER_03: Mark, you teased it a little bit.
- 45:21SPEAKER_03: We talked about it at the top of the show.
- 45:23SPEAKER_03: Speak Now, of course, in reference to the Taylor Swift album and song, but it's basically Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: The NFL season starts today.
- 45:32SPEAKER_03: We are firing, we're emptying the chamber on any takes we have, any predictions.
- 45:37SPEAKER_03: It's kind of a schmorgis board.
- 45:39SPEAKER_03: There's no rules to this, there's no structure.
- 45:41SPEAKER_03: We're just going to toss it to each person.
- 45:43SPEAKER_03: They're going to run through their list, and then the rest of us will react to it afterwards.
- 45:47SPEAKER_03: So, Mark, let's just keep the same order.
- 45:49SPEAKER_03: We'll start with you.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm going to go one of the teams I was able to scoop up, uh, the New Orleans Saints.
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: I think they're going to win the division.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: It's probably not a super hot take, but I know there's always a team that goes worst to first.
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: And I think of all the teams in the AFC South, I love the Saints.
- 46:05SPEAKER_00: And I think not only will they win the division, then they will win a wildcard game.
- 46:10SPEAKER_00: It almost happened this year with the Panthers playing the Rams super tight.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: Um, so give me the Saints winning a playoff game to start.
- 46:17SPEAKER_03: I like that.
- 46:18SPEAKER_03: A little boldness to it too, a little spice.
- 46:20SPEAKER_03: I like that.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't I don't hate that.
- 46:22SPEAKER_00: I'm big killing more guys, so I'm gonna go, and I don't know who the team's gonna be.
- 46:28SPEAKER_00: And I'm I'm trying to kind of think who who it is, and I have one.
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: Sean, you're not gonna like it, but I think someone is gonna go, just like I said, worst to first, someone's gonna go first to worst.
- 46:38SPEAKER_00: And I think in the NFC North, that might that might be the Chicago Bears.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: I think there's potential.
- 46:43SPEAKER_00: Packers will get a decent number of wins.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: I love the lines in that division.
- 46:45SPEAKER_00: I think the Vikings are sneaky, and it's a tough division.
- 46:48SPEAKER_00: So I think Bears will finish dead last, maybe with like seven wins, but still dead last.
- 46:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's the problem.
- 46:54SPEAKER_03: That division's so loaded that you could come in last with seven wins, but I will say, Mark, I don't think that's that crazy because of the some of the predictable statistics from year to year.
- 47:04SPEAKER_03: Collins mentioned the turnovers.
- 47:06SPEAKER_03: That is something people point to that changes year over year.
- 47:09SPEAKER_03: They also had, I believe, six or seven last-minute comeback wins.
- 47:14SPEAKER_03: So those one possession game stats all kind of went the bear's way last year.
- 47:17SPEAKER_03: That could be something that flips.
- 47:19SPEAKER_03: I'm choosing to ignore those signs and believe in my guys, Ben and Caleb, but I can certainly see your point there.
- 47:25SPEAKER_00: I think I'm good for now.
- 47:26SPEAKER_00: What do you got to?
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: I'll turn it over to MSA.
- 47:29SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 47:30SPEAKER_01: Not all that hot considering their uh each respective team's current situation, but I'm gonna say that both the 49ers and the Chiefs miss the playoffs this season.
- 47:42SPEAKER_01: Again, it's it's not scorching.
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: We saw some bad things out of both of them last year.
- 47:48SPEAKER_01: Granted, the 49ers won a playoff game, but but yeah, I think they're they're both an aging roster and and due for a bit of a fall off.
- 47:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that's a fair take.
- 47:59SPEAKER_02: The Niners, obviously, injury concerns, older team.
- 48:02SPEAKER_02: Uh, the AFC is loaded as well, as we learned last year.
- 48:05SPEAKER_02: So the Chiefs, it'll take a lot for them to overcome those, you know, fringe like AFC North teams than the fringe AFC South team to get that wild card.
- 48:14SPEAKER_02: So I like that call.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: I think I'm actually gonna stay on the same wavelength.
- 48:19SPEAKER_01: I kind of this one kind of just popped into my mind just now.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: Um, and I haven't really played the numbers on it, but I'm gonna go ahead and and say that the New England Patriots also miss the playoffs this season.
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: They're gonna have to play some proper quarterbacks.
- 48:44SPEAKER_01: So that's that's my take there.
- 48:46SPEAKER_03: I kind of like all three of those, to be honest.
- 48:48SPEAKER_03: If you were to say, hey, pick three teams that made the playoffs last year that won't this year, or three teams that people are expecting to make the playoffs that won't, I think you're right along the correct lines there because there are some real, there's a little bit of staleness with those first two, the Chiefs and the Niners.
- 49:06SPEAKER_03: The age factor, it's kind of the end of an era, or is it are they hanging around?
- 49:11SPEAKER_03: You just don't know.
- 49:12SPEAKER_03: And then the Patriots.
- 49:13SPEAKER_03: What we saw in the Super Bowl, and even they were lucky to beat the Broncos and get to the Super Bowl.
- 49:18SPEAKER_03: They were lucky to beat the Texans.
- 49:20SPEAKER_03: It was kind of a we're looking at them as a Super Bowl team, but in reality, with their schedule and just how they actually performed last year, I'm not so sure that they were.
- 49:28SPEAKER_03: So I do think that I could easily see them regressing to being just a mediocre team.
- 49:34SPEAKER_00: And uh, one you know thing to think of too is they lost their 12th man, the inside source, kind of giving them some information about potential injuries or trades or you know what's going on in the league.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: So um that was a key potential advantage for them last year.
- 49:47SPEAKER_01: So I'm true, and even in many cases, Mark, being the driving factor of a player leaving a team and joining said organization.
- 49:56SPEAKER_00: So imagine that.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 49:58SPEAKER_03: But it was a nice farewell gift, an AJ Brown-shaped present as a parting gift was pretty good.
- 50:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, pretty good.
- 50:05SPEAKER_03: Michael Blum was the first to report that story, by the way.
- 50:07SPEAKER_03: I did have it first, thank you.
- 50:09SPEAKER_03: He said that that Titans beat picked up when Rossini was around when Frabel was there.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: So a uh an individual one uh that I'm gonna stamp stamp my name on here.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: I'm going to your guys, Sean, the uh Las Vegas Raiders with Clint Kubiak, and I'm gonna say that their tight end Brock Bowers is going to break the single season NFL record for receptions.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: So he just a couple of years ago he set the rookie receptions record, which was 112.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: The uh current NFL receptions uh record is 149 by Michael Thomas uh from the New Orleans Saints.
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna go with that.
- 50:56SPEAKER_01: Bowers gets his hands on 150 or more receptions this season.
- 51:02SPEAKER_03: That's a I love that.
- 51:04SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 51:05SPEAKER_03: I could see it too.
- 51:06SPEAKER_03: I mean, I can't the receiving core there, I can't name one.
- 51:10SPEAKER_03: So yeah, I feel like it's a good bet.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: If you think they're gonna be trailing in some games and needing to throw the football, I think a lot of those targets are gonna be going Brock's way.
- 51:19SPEAKER_03: Definitely.
- 51:20SPEAKER_01: And then last but not least, uh, this one not maybe not quite as hot as the Brock Bowers one, but I am going to say that Joe Burrow out of the Cincinnati Bengals, he's gonna stay healthy this season and win the NFL MVP.
- 51:35SPEAKER_03: How's that?
- 51:35SPEAKER_03: Fourth overall pick in the fantasy drafts last weekend.
- 51:38SPEAKER_03: I love that shout himself.
- 51:40SPEAKER_03: So you're bullish on the bullish on the Bengals too by that notion.
- 51:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, sure, yeah.
- 51:47SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 51:48SPEAKER_02: I have three quick ones.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: So I alluded to the one earlier, similar to Collins take uh MVP.
- 51:54SPEAKER_02: I think Justin Herbert is a dark horse MVP candidate.
- 51:57SPEAKER_02: Um, obviously a lot of that is hinges on the Chargers and their success, but he is set up to succeed.
- 52:03SPEAKER_02: He has all the weapons.
- 52:04SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, Mick Daniel there now call him plays.
- 52:07SPEAKER_02: Again, offensive line already banged up.
- 52:09SPEAKER_02: I think they lost their center already to a season ending injury.
- 52:12SPEAKER_02: So big fan of Herbert this year.
- 52:13SPEAKER_03: I love Herbert every year, and I find myself ways to talk myself into him.
- 52:18SPEAKER_03: I do think though, year three under Harbaugh, weapons are in place.
- 52:22SPEAKER_03: He has his tackles this year.
- 52:23SPEAKER_03: I know he lost the center, but just having the tackles, they won 10 games without both tackles last year.
- 52:28SPEAKER_03: So he should be good this year.
- 52:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, hopefully.
- 52:30SPEAKER_02: Uh so this next one is fantasy relevant.
- 52:33SPEAKER_02: There are two backfields that I feel like are a little murky and they have some, you know, sexy names there that I feel like a lot of people are high on.
- 52:41SPEAKER_02: Uh, but I would like to pump the brakes on those names.
- 52:44SPEAKER_02: I think Ramondre Stevenson will be the year-long RB1 in New England.
- 52:49SPEAKER_02: I think Trayvon Henderson, he's already been ruled out for uh for tonight's game against the Seahawks.
- 52:56SPEAKER_02: Not good reports out of camp, terrible in pass protection.
- 52:59SPEAKER_02: And then also I think Chuba Hubbard will be the season-long RB1 in Carolina.
- 53:03SPEAKER_02: Um, I know Jonathan Brooks has been a big name, but I am not the biggest fan of him.
- 53:08SPEAKER_02: Again, he was a second-round pick two years ago, two torn ACLs, but I think Chuba will hold that job down most of the year in Carolina.
- 53:18SPEAKER_04: I don't hate it.
- 53:18SPEAKER_03: The more things change, the more things stay the same.
- 53:21SPEAKER_03: That's what you're kind of going for there.
- 53:22SPEAKER_03: And pass protection, that's the underrated thing.
- 53:25SPEAKER_03: Every every young running back, they might have all the explosivity in the world.
- 53:30SPEAKER_03: If they can't block for their quarterback, the quarterback doesn't want him on the field, the receivers don't want him on the field, the coaches don't want him on the field.
- 53:36SPEAKER_03: So Ramondre also, he just never goes away.
- 53:38SPEAKER_03: So I could definitely see that being the case.
- 53:41SPEAKER_02: He's just such a boring, good player.
- 53:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 53:44SPEAKER_03: The best way to describe him.
- 53:46SPEAKER_03: If he didn't fumble, he'd be a really, really good player, but he does have a case of the Oopsies every now and then.
- 53:50SPEAKER_03: That is fair.
- 53:51SPEAKER_02: Um, but lastly, my last take and cover your ears, Collins.
- 53:54SPEAKER_02: I think the Falcons will have the worst record in football.
- 53:57SPEAKER_02: I don't totally disagree with that.
- 53:58SPEAKER_02: That's funny.
- 53:59SPEAKER_02: It's a shame, too, because I think if we're talking top running back, top receiver, and top tight end on every NFL team, you'd argue the Falcons have the best at each of those.
- 54:09SPEAKER_02: But again, like the quarterback situation, I would argue it's the most dire in all of football.
- 54:15SPEAKER_02: Dire.
- 54:16SPEAKER_02: The defense is just not great.
- 54:19SPEAKER_02: They play in the south, again, which is wide open, but I think this is just a team where the wheels will just fall off them and they will just be an embarrassing watch in the second half year.
- 54:29SPEAKER_01: Sounds like they take part of it.
- 54:30SPEAKER_01: That's what I was alluding to earlier.
- 54:32SPEAKER_01: They might just go full tank mode and get that.
- 54:34SPEAKER_01: Because like you said, if they do go get a really good quarterback who's come comes in and can win right away, watch out next year, 27.
- 54:44SPEAKER_00: Operation Ask for Arch.
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: Pause.
- 54:47SPEAKER_00: Ask for Arch, yep.
- 54:48SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 54:49SPEAKER_03: Okay, I have a few I'll go through quickly and you guys can just react at the end to them.
- 54:53SPEAKER_03: I'll get my tight end one out of the way.
- 54:55SPEAKER_03: You know, I love the tight end position.
- 54:57SPEAKER_03: I had to include one of these in my predictions.
- 55:00SPEAKER_03: I had uh very specific predictions for George Kittle last week, which led to him then being sniped for me by one of my best friends to pick before in fantasy.
- 55:09SPEAKER_03: I will pivot to the guy I ended up with.
- 55:11SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna say Mark Andrews is a top five tight end this year in fantasy football.
- 55:16SPEAKER_03: He seems to be the forgotten man in Baltimore.
- 55:18SPEAKER_03: I think it's gross, I don't like it, but everybody talks about how good the Ravens are gonna be, and I agree, they're a good team.
- 55:23SPEAKER_03: Who exactly are they throwing this football to?
- 55:26SPEAKER_03: That that everybody is Zay Flowers, good player, nice player.
- 55:29SPEAKER_03: Is he catching 2,000 yards this year?
- 55:31SPEAKER_03: I'm not I'm not so sure of that.
- 55:33SPEAKER_03: I also just think losing Isaiah Likely, he was always the guy who kind of stood in Mark Andrews's way.
- 55:40SPEAKER_03: He's out of the picture now.
- 55:41SPEAKER_03: I think Mark Andrews is the forgotten man in Baltimore.
- 55:44SPEAKER_03: So I'm bullish on him.
- 55:46SPEAKER_03: I will also say this one goes right against my Chiefs' pick.
- 55:49SPEAKER_03: I think Andy Reed retires at the end of this season after the Chiefs miss the playoffs.
- 55:54SPEAKER_03: So I'm right there with you, Collins.
- 55:56SPEAKER_03: I think we see another disgraceful season from the Chiefs.
- 55:59SPEAKER_03: Kelsey goes out in misery.
- 56:01SPEAKER_03: Reed goes out with him.
- 56:03SPEAKER_03: Don't love saying that.
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: But I do think the writing may be on the wall there.
- 56:10SPEAKER_00: It feels like it.
- 56:11SPEAKER_00: It feels like momentum.
- 56:16SPEAKER_03: It was good value, but it wasn't.
- 56:18SPEAKER_03: They stink.
- 56:18SPEAKER_03: Now, on the flip side, the pick I made in the first round of the wins draft, I think the Texans will have the best record in the NFL regular season.
- 56:29SPEAKER_03: I think largely because of their schedule and division.
- 56:32SPEAKER_03: It's good.
- 56:33SPEAKER_03: It's not the worst division by any means, but I do think if they're the best team in it, they could take care of business.
- 56:37SPEAKER_03: They also have some decently easy games elsewhere.
- 56:40SPEAKER_03: I also just think the NFC is tougher on a week-to-week basis.
- 56:44SPEAKER_03: So I would be more scared of like the NFC West teams.
- 56:48SPEAKER_03: I think they're going to kind of cannibalize each other.
- 56:50SPEAKER_03: I think the Eagles have the Cowboys to go back and forth with.
- 56:52SPEAKER_03: The NFC North is going to cannibalize each other.
- 56:54SPEAKER_03: The South is a joke.
- 56:56SPEAKER_03: So really I'm saying I think the Texans have the best record in the AFC.
- 56:59SPEAKER_03: And that's because when you look at the Bills, I think the Patriots could give them a little push as well.
- 57:04SPEAKER_03: So that's my prediction there.
- 57:05SPEAKER_03: And then lastly, all teams in the NFC North finish the year with a winning record.
- 57:10SPEAKER_03: So we've all talked about how good that division is.
- 57:13SPEAKER_03: I think all the teams will end up with a winning record.
- 57:16SPEAKER_02: They almost said last year, I'm pretty sure.
- 57:18SPEAKER_02: But yes, I think it was just the Vikings.
- 57:21SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 57:21SPEAKER_02: Seven wins or eight wins.
- 57:23SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 57:24SPEAKER_00: I heard that wrong at first.
- 57:25SPEAKER_00: And I thought you said AFC North, and I was like, come on.
- 57:28SPEAKER_00: Like, uh now that's the hottest take of the year.
- 57:31SPEAKER_03: No, no, no, no.
- 57:32SPEAKER_03: And FC North.
- 57:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I agree.
- 57:34SPEAKER_03: Million to one.
- 57:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think maybe the worst team is the one I drafted in the Vikings, and I would not be surprised at all if they win eight or nine games.
- 57:42SPEAKER_03: So that's that's it for Speak Now.
- 57:44SPEAKER_03: Does anybody else have anything they want to get off their chest before we get into drop the mics?
- 57:47SPEAKER_02: Good takes, boys.
- 57:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, not bad.
- 57:50SPEAKER_03: We'll see.
- 57:50SPEAKER_03: We'll see how they turn out.
- 57:51SPEAKER_03: Just wanted to give us a chance to.
- 57:53SPEAKER_03: If we're right, we'll revisit it.
- 57:54SPEAKER_03: We'll clip it, we'll put it out.
- 57:55SPEAKER_03: If we're wrong, bury the tape.
- 57:58SPEAKER_03: Burn it.
- 57:59SPEAKER_03: We're on to next week.
- 58:00SPEAKER_03: So drop the mics.
- 58:02SPEAKER_03: A little update.
- 58:04SPEAKER_03: What a wonderful debut for the mics.
- 58:06SPEAKER_03: Led by Michael Collins.
- 58:07SPEAKER_03: He's getting the golf clap from his partner.
- 58:10SPEAKER_03: Five, two, and one record for MC last week in a college-only slate.
- 58:15SPEAKER_03: I was five-and-four.
- 58:16SPEAKER_03: I'm happy to take a winning record.
- 58:18SPEAKER_03: Not as good though.
- 58:19SPEAKER_03: Not as good as MC.
- 58:21SPEAKER_03: I'm excited that they're both in the lab this week.
- 58:24SPEAKER_03: We have both cooks in the kitchen.
- 58:26SPEAKER_03: We are picking both NFL and college.
- 58:28SPEAKER_03: There's no restrictions.
- 58:29SPEAKER_03: We're giving you the line at the time of recording.
- 58:32SPEAKER_03: So I guess we can alternate back and forth.
- 58:35SPEAKER_03: Before we get into it, Mark, I want to ask you, I want you to put your name on something.
- 58:39SPEAKER_03: Over the course of the season, who are you backing to win this little competition?
- 58:42SPEAKER_03: Do you think these two's chemistry will lead them to a victory?
- 58:46SPEAKER_03: Or do you think they might butt heads around week eight or nine?
- 58:49SPEAKER_03: And I take I take control.
- 58:52SPEAKER_00: You know, I think you're extremely intelligent, Sean, around a lot of things, including sports and takes and whatnot.
- 59:01SPEAKER_03: Here comes a butt.
- 59:02SPEAKER_00: But the reason I'm gonna take the mics is because I think both of them each individually are intelligent in their own ways, and I think they're gonna bring different perspectives that will complement each other well.
- 59:12SPEAKER_00: Talking about it's a hard decision because you guys are probably three of the smartest sports minds that I know.
- 59:18SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
- 59:19SPEAKER_00: You gotta get some more friends.
- 59:20SPEAKER_02: You need some more friends, brother.
- 59:24SPEAKER_02: Three of the five.
- 59:26SPEAKER_00: Three of the five.
- 59:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:27SPEAKER_00: Um that's a tough choice, but I'm gonna go with uh I'm gonna go with the the mics on this one.
- 59:32SPEAKER_02: Alright, we'll take it, Pip.
- 59:34SPEAKER_02: Get you a phone finger.
- 59:35SPEAKER_02: Cheer a song.
- 59:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm I I'll use it as motivation, Mark.
- 59:40SPEAKER_03: I'll I'll just I'll just make a note of that and make sure to each week put just a little extra couple minutes into these picks.
- 59:45SPEAKER_03: I'd expect nothing less.
- 59:47SPEAKER_03: Boys, do you guys have a strategy for this week, or are we gonna fire from the hip, or what's the what's the deal here?
- 59:52SPEAKER_01: Well, I would I would first like to say Mike Blum, I I give you full veto powers on any and every pick.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_01: I would just say the we built we we started off hot last week.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_01: We built up a nice little lead as far as winning percentage goes.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_01: The smart thing to do, the correct play would be to maybe sit back, lower our number of picks, let Sean kind of go crazy, try to catch up.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_01: That's not what we did.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_01: We did the exact opposite of that.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_01: I have 10 college plays, and I can manufacture some NFL plays as well.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_01: I know that I know that Blum likes some pro football this this week.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_01: I have one uh pro football game that I love.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_01: The rest are I'm sort of wishy-washy on, so we can put our heads together on that.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_01: Again, full veto powers in your pocket.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_01: Did you say 10?
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_01: I have 10.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_01: 10 collet.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_01: Just 10.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_01: It's a big board, and it's a huge college board.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_01: And it's a nice board.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_03: You gotta understand that.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_03: And I'm gonna be egging them on.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_03: I think you should go for 12 MC.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_03: Don't cut any off.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_01: Technically, technically technically, one one play we share with Sean, so it's really nine if you want to look at it that way.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_02: Does cancel things out.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_02: I will say, Carl, I will not be vetoing any of your college picks because I don't know my ass from my elbow when it comes to college picks.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_02: Well, like I do NFL.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_01: Like obviously I know college, I know the Well I only have I only have one game I love in the NFL, so we'll get to that.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_01: And if you want to veto that one, then you still have full power.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_01: Sean, do you want to talk do college first, or should we what do you think?
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_01: Because I mean technically NFL starts before the college this week, so then yeah, we'll do NFL first this week.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_03: We'll switch it up.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_03: Great.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_02: So I have three NFL picks.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_03: Let's hear them, blame me.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_02: So this first one is no, I'm not a betting man.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_02: I am not.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_02: I am very frugal, very conservative.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_02: Um, hence by me putting uh face in my palms when Colin said he has 10 college football picks.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_02: But this is if I was a betting man, this would be a system play.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_02: I think looking at the over-unders and whatever the highest over-under is, take the under.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_02: In this case, it's the Buccaneers Bengal's game.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_02: Under 50 and a half.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_02: Again, there were two bad defenses last year.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_02: They're just going off of that.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_02: It's a new year, new coaches, new personnel.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_02: So, Collins, how do you feel about that?
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_02: Under 50 and a half on the Buccaneers Bengals.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_01: That is a lot of points.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I'm I'm down for that.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_01: I I I mean, two bad defenses last year, but two defenses that I are poised, I think, for a slight resurgence, especially the Bengals.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, I mean 50 and a half.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm I'm putting that in.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_01: Come on.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_02: Dexter Lawrence, middle of the line in Cincinnati now.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_02: He wasn't there last year.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_01: He's gonna wreck things.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_02: Come on.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_03: He's a home wrecker.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_03: Okay, now give us your other two bum.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_02: So next one is I took this was the most obvious point spread to me that I felt most confident on, and I'm curious.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_02: I feel they call this might be the one you were thinking of too.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_02: I have Steelers minus three and a half.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_01: Not the one the one that I had, but I do like that also.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_01: It was it was a fringe.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_03: Uh and it's on my sheet, Blum, so we're in it together.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_03: We're in it together.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_01: So it's a wash.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_03: It's a wash, yep.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_03: But we'll still put it out there.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_03: We'll give it as a pick for the listeners.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_03: If we both love it, it has to come true, right?
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_03: Of course.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_03: Probably not.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_03: That's when we go wrong.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_03: That's the catch 22.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_03: We're usually wrong.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_03: Except last week, two winning records.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_02: And then, real quick, my last one had to pick a underdog money line.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_02: And this week I'm going Colts at home, beating the Ravens.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_02: They're three and a half point dogs.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_02: I think they win that one outright.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: For this, for the sake of this, you get the three and a half.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_01: We're gonna take the three and a half.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_01: I love it from you, Blum.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_03: Okay, good.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_03: And now, Collins, what else do you have in NFL?
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_01: My one pick, you could you could guess it.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_01: It's in the name, Cowboy Collins.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_01: Cowboys minus three on the road, taking on the Giants.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_01: I think the Cowboys come out hot to start the season, and Giants don't stand much of a chance.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_03: So those are your NFL plays.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_03: I'll go through mine quickly.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_03: I have the Bears minus three in Carolina.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_03: That's just a system play.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_03: The system is I bet the Bears.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_03: My next pick is the Bengals minus three and a half.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_03: Bangle Boyle.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_03: And lastly, of course, I have to take my Philadelphia Eagles minus five and a half.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_03: Quite frankly, a disrespectful line.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_03: That's that's an offensive line.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_03: I think they win that game up to 20.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_03: I like them.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_01: So now what's up what's going on with the Eagles offensive line is the question.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_03: That could be that could be a good counterpoint.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_03: And then I also do have the Steelers minus three and a half.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_03: We're in lockstep there.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_03: Now, Collins, you have 10 college plays.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_03: I have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_03: So we have quite a few college plays.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_03: We're just gonna run through them pretty quickly here.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_03: We're not gonna spend too much time.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_03: Is the one game I have to ask you a question?
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_03: Okay, go ahead, Bob.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_02: Real quick, Collins, can I barter you down to five college?
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_02: I've cut them in half.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_03: Uh hey Collins, you were five, two, and one last week.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_03: What more do you have to do?
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_03: Undefeated to earn a couple picks out of Pump?
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_02: I know J.R.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_02: Smith likes to get his shots up, but I feel like we should maybe mirror boil a little bit in the volume of vets.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_00: I will say, whatever ones you take out, Collins, you should absolute earmark for the next show.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_03: Because and that's what I was hoping for, Mark.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_03: That's why you pick these guys.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_03: There's already drama in that locker room.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_03: It's already drama.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_03: And that's why I thought this would be a good segment.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_00: It's like when you pick a team and then the opposing team takes the immediate kickoff back to the crib.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_00: Like that's how I feel right now.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_00: I'm a little worried.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_03: He said, could you burn them down to five?
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_03: I thought he was gonna say eight.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's that's what I was.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_01: gonna say fives off fives off the table.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_01: So eight we could do.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_01: I'm going through the ten.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_01: I'm having a hard time choosing which two to cut.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_01: Blum, what do you think about just letting them ride this week?
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_01: Blum, why don't I shout them all out and then you pick two to cut?
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_02: Those are two guaranteed winners for the list.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_02: I don't like you throwing that back at me.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_02: There's no I don't want this responsibility.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_01: So there's one that we go head to head against Boyle.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_01: We could cut that one.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_01: I don't want to but we could I say just let it rip.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_03: Are you listening to counsel from the outside or is Mike Blum the banker going to stand his 10 toes down?
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_02: I say Collins just rip him off all time.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_01: Alright and then the dog off the water yeah totally and then you you tighten it as need be next week.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_03: Next week he's walking in your arms he gets walked only as far as you carry him I feel like I got a hot hand right now.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_01: I'm seeing the board clearly I'll just I'll start it right off I'm gonna take Kansas State minus 18 and a half against Washington State.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_01: We we've been over this Kansas State all year.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_01: Sean we watched Washington State play football together the other day that makes me want Kansas State from what I saw they they were they were a bad bunch.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_03: We were lucky to cover in the Apple Cup.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_01: Keep going you list through all we go all 10 okay um I want Oklahoma and Michigan game under 43 and a half boy does Michigan stink at football.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_01: Oklahoma they might not they might not score a point Oklahoma just please don't get to 45 on your own um temple owls plus 23 and a half against Penn State that's the one we both have yep yep I won Alabama Kentucky game over 49 and a half I liked the look of Keelan Russell I think Ryan Coleman Williams is going to catch the ball this week and Kenny Minchie don't let the boys start slinging that uh Maryland and Yukon over 52 and a half two bad defenses Malik Washington Illinois minus five and a half I didn't think Duke looked all that great I think Illinois a proper outfit in Champaign I want Illinois Memphis and Boise over 55 and a half couple electric offenses don't sleep on these G6 boys.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_01: Navy FAU over 59 and a half this one's a system play FAU that game went over in the first half last week what did I tell you FAU overs it's gonna it's it's gonna be a thing this this year uh navy worried they might run the ball a little bit so we might have a little work to do but fa you overs you trust the process tulsa minus 13 and a half against uh Sam Houston State don't have much to say about that I like Tulsa by multiple scores and last but not least of course the Cyhawk game and this is a head to head fight against Sean Boyle and I want Iowa minus 13 and a half there as well Iowa State stinks well I will go ahead Collins any thought on cutting the bet that you had no analysis on Tulsa yeah sure we could cut that for sure it's Tulsa and the main the main reason is that I think Sam Houston State is is really really bad and Tulsa's healer's not walking through that door he's not and uh there's some some statistics that I saw from their close game against Troy that didn't look good for Sam Houston State.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_00: But yes I will cut Tulsa minus 13 and a half listen you sold me on those statistics Colin so if you want to keep that I didn't I didn't say any of them statistics existed and blum on board I'll send it to you this is not a slight at you because I probably couldn't name 10 players off those 10 teams that you just mentioned but curious how many guys can you name on Sam Houston State you don't need to name names number eight we're not naming names my system play for the NFL was I bet the Bears 12 plays quarterback I have one I'm gonna lead things off with a glaring omission from Michael Collins board the red bandana game Boston College Red Bandana minus three and a half I can't I can't posthumously put it on there but I I'll be on that with you.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_03: I well as crowd forgot about that yeah yep yep I knew you did too because I thought that was going to be the one you said we had together but then when you didn't read it I was like oh he must not he must have forgot.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_03: So give me Boston College minus three and a half red bandana that's an autoplay every year.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_03: Temple plus 23 and a half against Penn State we hate Penn State.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_03: Casey Keeler keeps it close at the link noon kick sleepwalk for the first half for Penn State and then we hold on for a cover.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be a raucous crowd.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_03: I mean temple might have 1000 strong there are you kidding me at the link they might have 1000 strong if you count the band and staff now moving on I'm also on that Oklahoma game with you Collins except I'm just taking Oklahoma minus five and a half Michigan is a dog poop football team I think Oklahoma's a good football team I think if Michigan's who got any type of brain about them they run the clock out as quickly as they possibly can.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_03: That is probably true.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_03: I'm also with you on the Kentucky game except I'm taking Kentucky in the points I think there's a chance Kentucky beats Alabama outright.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_03: Love Will Stein love Kenny Minchie Wildcats will at least be able to score some points I think on Alabama.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_03: I'm also taking Minnesota plus one and a half Mississippi State traveling way up north to Minneapolis.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_03: I know it's not cold weather yet which does hurt Minnesota but I think Minnesota's just a better football team.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_03: So I'll take the Golden Gophers I'm on the opposite side of you in Iowa State I was able to get it at 14.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_03: You're gonna keep the 13 and a half I'll keep the 14 the reason why the reason why Iowa can't beat anybody but worth a damn by two touchdowns.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_03: Now the question will be is Iowa State worth a damn that remains to be seen but in a Cyhawk trophy game I I I hope to think the Cyclones have a little bit of pride about them.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_03: Now my last pick this was a late ad for me but I was thinking about it more I'm gonna take Oregon minus 23 and a half against Oklahoma State might be a little bit of an overreaction to just how bad Oklahoma State was last week but I also think Oregon we've seen slow starts from them in the past and then Dan Lenning just likes to wax people the next few weeks so I'll take the bucks.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah I have no idea what happened to that Oklahoma State game last week I don't care to find out I came on here to wax Poetic about their offense and then they put up 10 points.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_01: So that was one of my two losses last week and then the other one was fading Sam Houston State which I just took Tulsa off the board so I don't see I don't see how he can lose a single one Mikey wait Tulsa's off the board or on the board?
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_03: I took it off do you want me to put it I'll put it back on no when you said you saw statistics I was like pull pull him back in statistics okay Tulsa's back on Tulsa's back on a full 10 play card in college for the Mike's I have seven plays and then four more in the NFL I could have done a little more in the NFL but week one I like to take a wait and see approach.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_03: I feel like week one's always a little bit wonky.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_03: Last year the Raiders I think almost beat the Patriots or did beat the Patriots or something that's not that's not going to be indicative of the whole season so we're gonna let week one play out.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_03: Nothing really stuck out to me all that much on that yeah great college board though so excited for those games boys thank you all for joining me this was a long episode but it was an NFL preview.
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_03: We have NFL football tonight and that's something to be excited about best time of the year.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_03: Listeners thank you all for tuning in and until next time take care of the
