- 0:00Get our humans. Welcome to the safe space for dangerous ideas.
- 0:04Is it dangerous idea for you? Should snitches get stitches or should they, as they currently
- 0:10are, be morded, acclaimed, venerated, celebrated, and all kinds of other synonyms that I would
- 0:18probably be able to bring you if I had it the source to hand?
- 0:21I want to talk about this. I want to talk about this phenomenon of sneaking around on
- 0:25the internet trying to find out bad things about people to bring them down. We've always
- 0:32had outrage archaeology, which is my term for going back to someone posted on Twitter
- 0:38nine years ago that it had vaguely homophobic overtones and revealing it and making a big
- 0:44whore out of it, even not completely out of context, and at a different time for a different
- 0:48audience in a different place. Using the existence of this artefact that you have stumbled
- 0:54on, or you've excavated, like some deranged David Attenborough looking for salacious tidbits,
- 1:01and using that in order to get someone, for example, fired from hosting the Academy Awards
- 1:06as happened to Kevin Hartz, the hosting Academy Awards. Anyway, so we've always had that.
- 1:12Now there's something different going on, which I would want to address, which is a kind
- 1:16of coordinated community efforts to root out other communities. I'm talking specifically
- 1:21about what's going on with respect to Gaza and Israel and Palestinian activists and Israel
- 1:27affiliated activists in Australia, mainly on social media and private WhatsApp threads. It's a big
- 1:33bruja. It's corrosive. You need to know about it. But first, onto more important issues,
- 1:39like my cat. So I need you to help me here. I don't, I haven't lived with a cat since I was a
- 1:45child, and we got to kitten a few months ago. I'm going to crowdsource this. Is it normal
- 1:52for a cat to intentionally or unintentionally occupy the space that it knows you are about to need,
- 2:02even if the reason why you're needing it is to benefit the cat. Example, every day I feed the cat,
- 2:10and every day the cat food bowl goes in exactly the same place. It's right next to the water bowl.
- 2:14It's in a little look. It's in a little elbow. It's an obvious place for a cat food bowl to go.
- 2:19The cat knows this because she eats there every single day. Correct, she doesn't eat there every
- 2:24single day. She eats there three times a day, sometimes four if I'm feeling generous. Every single time,
- 2:30I attract her over by going, Taco, her name is Taco. I'm not just calling for tacos. Taco,
- 2:36and yes, she was named by the children. Taco, I go in this nice pleasant sort of building up
- 2:41for his taco. I go, and she knows that that means that food's coming. So I pick up the food bowl
- 2:48in front of her. I go and get the food. I put in the food bowl after washing the bowl. They all
- 2:52ask at every single time she's sitting where the food bowl goes. She's sitting in the place that
- 3:01the food bowl has to go to. What is she doing? What kind of crazed feline fucked up mind games?
- 3:08Is she pulling on me? Or is she just stupid? Is that someone explain cats psychology to me?
- 3:13She's sitting there so every time I have to try to tell her Taco, Taco, come over here, over here,
- 3:18over here. And she looks at me like I'm a bird or a fly or something and watch what what's
- 3:23daddy doing this time? I'm doing the same thing. I do every single time you wait you eat when you
- 3:28sit there in the wrong place. What do you think I'm doing? I'm going to put the bowl down so you
- 3:32can eat it is stupid. Anyway, that's all internal. Outside I'm going Taco, Taco, look over here.
- 3:39And eventually I just give her a dental kick or maybe even an also gentle kick depending on
- 3:43my mood. And then Taco goes running away for three seconds until she sees the bowl go down and go
- 3:49oh I'm getting food. Like it's the first thing first time she's ever thought this might be a
- 3:53possibility. Why did she come over in the first place when I was whistling to her with my nice
- 3:58lilting bro with Taco if she didn't know she was getting food and why she didn't sit in the
- 4:04foot anyway. So this is what I'm thinking about. I'm also as you may have noted a little irritable
- 4:09and I'm going to give you some insight into how the whole show is going, how Josh is doing. This
- 4:13is supposed to be just a little patch up between you and me. I'm not doing great at the moment
- 4:19because I cut my finger. If you're watching the YouTube video and if you're not, if you just
- 4:25listen to the podcast, why the hell aren't you just watching the YouTube as well when you get
- 4:29the best of all possible worlds. And except for the old factory sense, you don't get to smell
- 4:36my fragrance and you don't get to taste me. But that's common ladies and gentlemen. So if you're
- 4:41watching the YouTube I would be able to show you the cut but I'm not going to because it's so small
- 4:45that it would be embarrassing to complain about such a small cut. So you're just as well
- 4:48are listening to the podcast, forget what I just said, just listen to the podcast people,
- 4:51forget YouTube, it's a joke. So I'm drinking a delicious beverage and an alcoholic beer because
- 4:59I've been doing a lot of work. We've been we've been moving. We're still keeping our house. We're
- 5:04moving into a place not far away that we have more space. And so we are around to negative
- 5:11rounds and you know how we'll find how adorable moving is. So at the end of a long day of moving,
- 5:15I'm enjoying a delicious nut alcoholic beverage. And unfortunately I'm standing in a house that
- 5:22has nothing in it. So it's just me like a crazy man and my recording equipment and literally
- 5:31nothing else in the entire house, including not a bottle opener. Hence my injured hand, I've
- 5:39been wandering around the garden trying to smash the bottle top on as many sharp edges as I can
- 5:46to take it off because I'm not one of those cool guys who can burst a bottle top off just by
- 5:50I don't know, shoving into his eye socket or whatever that might be. Anyway, snitches is what we're
- 5:56talking about. Well, so there was this big brujah in Australia around the time that I left
- 6:03the ABC when another colleague of mine who was only hired as a fill-in presenter for just five days,
- 6:11she was basically removed after three days and so five days because she was extremely proactive
- 6:17about tweeting and putting a post-ordinary social media pro-Palestinian staff that was definitely
- 6:23not impartial. Let's just say, you know, certainly not the worst of the staff, the kind of staff
- 6:29that that bumps up against sort of anti-semitism that I've criticised on this show in the past,
- 6:34but nonetheless, not stuff that but fits an impartial news organisation.
- 6:39In a very hand-fisted and stupid way, the news organisation, government of her two days early,
- 6:44a relation of uphired in the first place, if they wanted to be that scriptulous about impartiality,
- 6:48once they had hired her, where's the harm and just letting her finish out her week. It came to
- 6:52like that one of the reasons why she was pulled from air two days early on her five-day stint
- 6:57was because the bosses had allegedly been pressured by a bunch of semi-secretive WhatsApp groups
- 7:08that were entitled things like lawyers for Israel and so on. So in comes the conspiratorial hand
- 7:16of Jewish power, supposedly pulling the strings and being the puppet masters for everything
- 7:23and the organisation being cowed. This was a very bad look. It created a bit of a national scandal.
- 7:31And whatever you think of how incompetently this individual was dispatched from the other
- 7:37broadcaster, I think it's ridiculous to suggest that it only happened because she was on one
- 7:42side of this particular political divide. If anything, the public broadcaster, I believe,
- 7:49has been, you know, scrupulously compassionate towards the Palestinian side of things.
- 7:55They have not bowed to wild activist pressure to call the Israeli campaign genocide,
- 8:01but they certainly, I think, you know, just imagine the shoot was on the other foot.
- 8:05You know, I have a thought experiment here. Just imagine that instead of this individual being
- 8:11a woman of colour who was supportive of Palestine, if it was a white male who was supportive of
- 8:18Israel, that person would have been fired. I think more promptly. In fact, that person would never
- 8:24have been hired in the first place as easily as a woman of colour who supports traditionally
- 8:29disenfranchised people. That's not to say that this person is untalented. She's a great talent.
- 8:34And, you know, I have a lot of respect for her. But the way that the firing happened, I think,
- 8:39was evidence of incompetence rather than a particular political bias. Nonetheless, so imagine that
- 8:46you had, you know, an association of pro-Palestinian, you know, pro-Muslim activists who were all
- 8:54chanting outside the public broadcaster's offices, as indeed they have been and had done.
- 9:01And imagine if that was the reason why an individual was dismissed for having
- 9:06been having posted partisan opinions about a controversial public event. You know, we wouldn't
- 9:14suggest that there's a nefarious kind of dark, evil puppet master characteristic to brown-skinned
- 9:23Arabs chanting and waving signs and saying that, you know, this person needs to go. That would
- 9:29just seem like a legitimate way of swaying things. But when Jewish Australians or so-called pro-Israeli
- 9:35Australians try to produce letter writing campaigns and try to sway things in what they regard
- 9:43as being the interests of the good, it somehow is tainted with this kind of nasty, nefarious,
- 9:51hook-nosed slithering, slobbering sort of nastiness that just doesn't apply to any other lobby group.
- 9:57Of course, lobby groups try to, you know, promote their own point of view to people who control
- 10:04powerful institutions like media outlets. There are some groups in our community who, when they do
- 10:11that, it's regarded as being nefarious and others who, when they do that, it's regarded as being
- 10:16noble. And the reasons why I'm probably complicated, I don't think it's all to do with rank
- 10:21anti-semitism, but anti-semitism certainly doesn't help. What's happening now, though, is that there's
- 10:27not just an attempt to pressure institutions to be responsible, to be even handed, to be, you know,
- 10:36reasonable. There's now no pressure to essentially cancel individuals who don't total line.
- 10:44This is getting dark, and it's what I mean when I say that we're encountering a kind of culture
- 10:50where there's a veneration for snitching. So, one of these WhatsApp groups was a WhatsApp group that
- 10:58was of Jewish creatives in Australia, and it was originally created after October 7 as a way
- 11:05to provide support, moral support, emotional support to people who are feeling traumatized about
- 11:10the largest slaughter of civilian Jews since the Holocaust, and certainly then subsequently
- 11:15traumatized by the nature of the backlash in Australia. You know, it's worth noting that no
- 11:20matter how much people ran to rail and, you know, gnashed their teeth about the injustices being
- 11:27unleashed on Palestinians and those injustices are real or tragic. It is not Muslim Australians or
- 11:33Arab Australians who have to address their schoolchildren in fake clothes so that you cannot tell
- 11:42that they're Muslim for fear of being attacked. It is not Australian mosques that have to beat up
- 11:48their security for fear of being firebombed. It is not people who are giving speeches in favor of
- 11:55a free Palestine who have to worry about being assassinated or they're being a suicide borough
- 12:00in the midst. It is always the Jews who suffer the most hate crimes. Statistically, they are the
- 12:07victims by far of the largest number of hate crimes, far ahead of LGBTQIA. Plus Australia
- 12:12is far ahead of Muslim Australians. So although this is not a competition, it is just worth noticing
- 12:17that we often don't think about Jews as suffering, you know, as being essentially the victims,
- 12:22we think of them as being allied with this shitty little country that keeps inflicting its
- 12:26colonialist whims on poor neighbouring Arabs, those Arabs who have also been betrayed, shall we
- 12:31say, by all of the other Arab states. And I could have a whole rant and maybe I should someday about
- 12:38the kind of infantilization of Arabs that is implicit in the pro-Palestinian movement. Like
- 12:45this person who I was talking about who was post-inal of this pro-Palestinian star
- 12:50who the ABC thought was being too activist is part of a, you know, for all the best intentions,
- 12:57part of a movement that fundamentally deprives Arabs of agency because it fundamentally implies
- 13:05that Saudi Arabia and Syria and Jordan and Egypt, that these places, these leaders and these people
- 13:13are incapable of collaborating with Palestinians to find a solution to Palestinian dispossession.
- 13:22They're not capable of, obviously, of finding a solution to the dispossession of Palestinians who
- 13:26were living in pre-1967, Israel, the Israel, let's give them to the Jews originally. But what
- 13:34happens to this refugee situation in the West Bank and in Gaza is always put exclusively on
- 13:40the Israelis. I mean, Gaza has a border with Egypt as well. You never hear Egypt being accused of
- 13:44being the people who are creating an open air sewer or an open air prison in Gaza. It's always the
- 13:49Israelis. Well, they're two borders. So anyway, there's this whole dull standard thing. I think where we,
- 13:54especially the Arabs fuck over the Palestinians as much as they possibly can and get a free pass
- 13:58because we just go, oh, you know, what they're corrupt and dysfunctional. And also, you know,
- 14:02there's no Arab state. It's decent anyway. So they're a basket case. But the Jews have this rich
- 14:07democracy and they should know that because they're one of us. So nonetheless, despite just
- 14:12parking that notion for just a moment, after October 7th, there were these WhatsApp groups
- 14:18of Jewish Australians who were providing support, emotional support for each other.
- 14:23Someone said, me an invitation as a Jewish, you know, I'm not religious, but ethnically Jewish
- 14:29Australian. No, I'm certainly Jewish enough for a jihadist, but that way I'm Jewish enough for
- 14:33Hitler and Jewish enough for a suicide bomb to call me fair game. So I joined this thing and I got
- 14:41a little bit disturbed by it. After about a month, maybe six weeks, I saw that a lot of the chat
- 14:49was being dominated by a few voices who were extremely concerned about weeding out
- 14:57Australian influencers, social media influencers and media personalities. So they've
- 15:02conceived as being biased against Israel, perhaps biased against Jews. And the talk was about how to
- 15:11get these people punished, how to write letters to their publishers and have their publishing
- 15:18contracts cancelled, write letters to their agents and have their relationships with their agents,
- 15:23severed, write letters to their podcast networks and have their podcasts cancelled.
- 15:28And the only thing I ever wrote in this WhatsApp thread, the only contribution I ever made to it
- 15:35or any other was to chime in with a lengthy post and say, now for a piece of constructive criticism,
- 15:42please let's not go down the cancel culture path. If people, you know, we're a big,
- 15:49strong, rembunctious country. We are capable of tolerating idiots. We are capable of tolerating
- 15:55haters. I don't think we want to start a cycle where the way that we respond to people bad ideas is
- 16:01by expanding our energies, not on criticizing those ideas, not on adding to the public
- 16:07square, but rather by trying to take them down and trying to have them fired or otherwise punished
- 16:15or sometimes in some cases have their livelihoods destroyed. And a few people got back to me
- 16:22and were very angry and thought that I was betraying the team and that I wasn't on their side.
- 16:27And so I didn't pay any more attention and I muted the thing and then eventually I got booted
- 16:31out of it anyway. When they had a purge of people because apparently there was a leak,
- 16:36someone submitted some screenshots of some of these things to people who probably like me were
- 16:42concerned about it. For the record, I was not the person who leaked any screenshots of these
- 16:46things. I wouldn't do that either because I believe that private conversations should have a
- 16:52right to remain private. Nonetheless, it's understandable that some people who were worried about
- 16:57this might have thought that there was some utility in letting the people who were being
- 17:01targeted by these groups know that it was happening. So fast forward to now. And now it seems
- 17:09that some of the pro-Palestinian or otherwise just the kind of white mummy bloggers in Australia
- 17:18are the Instagrammers who have been extremely excited and excitable about their new found role
- 17:24as moral saviors in which they can get to the bottom of just why Frank Lowey, one of Australia's
- 17:29richest men was getting so much money to the federal government and he happens to be a Jew
- 17:35and the federal government is supporting Israel. So as this mummy blogger said, she's not saying
- 17:41that the government does what this Jewish industrialist wants but she is saying that he pays their
- 17:49money and they do what he wants. So clever. So brilliant Sherlock opening up these incredible
- 17:57things. Oh, we've never heard this before. We've never heard this in simulation that governments
- 18:01are in the puppet of Jews and we can set aside for the moment the governments get bucket loads
- 18:06of money from all kinds of different industries. There isn't a disproportionately large number of
- 18:11Jewish donations to government in Australia and there is from all other industries and all other
- 18:15companies and there's no one and yes there is of course influence and influence peddling between
- 18:21the beginning of town and the decision that government makes. But to cherry pick one person who
- 18:26happens to be Jewish and then create some insinuation about the reason why Australia's
- 18:31national security policy is dictated because if someone was getting money to the governing power
- 18:36I mean honestly it's like it's first grade stuff. Nonetheless there's this cohort of people
- 18:43who've been very very active and they've been trying to weed out all of these kind of evil shadowy
- 18:49forces that are preventing Australia and the rest of the world from doing the right thing which
- 18:55is presumably to I mean at the very least they would say is insist on a ceasefire in which Hamas
- 19:02is able to resurrect its control over Gaza at the same time as they would say that they don't
- 19:08support Hamas but at the most they would probably say that we need to get rid of Israel as a state
- 19:12and creator among the Palestine run you know as a democracy with majority Arabs with Jews as a
- 19:19minority and of course that country would be just as good towards the Jews as all the other countries
- 19:24in the Middle East have been just as good to gaze just as good to women as the other Muslim Arab
- 19:30states of which are probably zero a place as where you any of these people would want to live and
- 19:35where any of their rights as feminists would be upheld. Nonetheless set down aside so they are on this
- 19:41big bandwagon and now part of this is that they want to make sure that they are as punitive as
- 19:49possible towards anyone who was trying to punish them so they seem to have access now to some of
- 19:54these private what's that threads and a colleague of mine came up to me and said should you
- 20:00worry about this fact that they they're going through this they're going through thousands and
- 20:07thousands and thousands of messages they've got the names of the people who were in this
- 20:13in these threads I loved it's like why would I be worried then like well your name might be
- 20:18associated with the thread that you you join it was like so what I mean I was just spying on it
- 20:23anyway I mean it is the last thing that I would even you basically asking me should I be worried
- 20:31that terrorists have some information about me that they might misuse well I don't know I mean
- 20:37maybe but I can't go around worrying about whether or not terrorists are going to like abuse I
- 20:42didn't do anything wrong so I have nothing to fear with that way that may sound naive but I mean
- 20:46how else won't go through life they go through the thread the other thing they're going to see is
- 20:51me arguing it for the right to of pro Palestinians to say what they want to in this great country
- 20:59of ours so we now have a situation where there was these Jewish threads who were devoting these
- 21:06Jewish WhatsApp message groups in other words who were devoting a lot of time to trying to bring
- 21:11down on punish sideline xcommunicate strip income from people who were also online who were
- 21:20saying things that were pro Palestinian and anti-Israeli and perhaps anti-Semitic now you have other
- 21:27WhatsApp reds podcasters influencers community message boards who are who have access to those
- 21:36messages and those communities and are now trying to do the same thing back to bit and I have
- 21:41people asking me whether I'm worried about being cancelled by the people who are pouring over the
- 21:47details of the people who were pouring over the details of the people who were saying things that
- 21:52were anti-Semitic I mean fuck off fuck this circular firing squad bullshit since when is it great
- 22:03to be a snitch since when is it great to be a sniveling little weasel going through thousands and
- 22:09thousands of comments to try to find someone who said something mean or nasty about your fucking pet
- 22:14cause get over yourself grow up if someone says something that's wrong or evil or misguided you have
- 22:22a microphone you have a supercomputer in your pocket you have a Twitter feed you have an Instagram
- 22:28feed you have whatever you want you have your friends you have your colleagues you have the letters
- 22:32page of the newspapers you have talkback radio you have all of the means you have more means than anyone
- 22:38has ever had in the history of the world to get your message out go and make the case go and make
- 22:45the case it reminds me of when I interviewed Peter Singer on his live tour of Australia the great
- 22:52ethicist and philosopher and he was talking about the fact that you know back in the day in the 90s
- 22:58it was the Christian right who were protesting him and nowadays it's the woke left who protest him
- 23:04the most and I was putting to him the the point that I often hear which is like isn't it right
- 23:09for speech to have consequences you know it's not cancel culture to respond to someone's shitty
- 23:14idea it's it's consequence culture some people say you know you what you're asking what the people
- 23:19who opposed cancel culture are asking for so it's so the argument goes is for carte blanche to
- 23:24say whatever they want without any consequence well I'm sorry it doesn't work that way when we
- 23:27redefine the rules of the gate and when we say you're you're you're you're no longer allowed to say
- 23:32this you're allowed to say that and they have to be consequences for breaking those rules and
- 23:36cancel culture is simply consequences for being a shithead and Peter Singer said I'm not sure I
- 23:43put it quite like that shithead under to the illustrious mr. Singer he said yeah that's fine
- 23:50but the consequence has to be another argument about the merits of my points the consequence isn't
- 23:56supposed to be you prevent me from being able to live a life or earn an income I mean at the far
- 24:04edges I suppose we can argue whether or not that's just like well what about Nazis people say
- 24:10you know should a Nazi be able to go around hiring Hitler and still be employed shouldn't we
- 24:14try to get them fired okay yeah you can have your Nazi example mate I mean even then I wouldn't
- 24:20say you should you should get the person fired yeah the employer should perhaps be be aware of
- 24:26the fact that the person is doing this stuff but the employer should not be put in an impossible
- 24:31situation because there's a social media pile on that is trying to coerce the employer to get
- 24:36this person fired not for the merits of the case of whether the person is an Nazi but precisely
- 24:42because there is a mob with flaming pitchforks flaming pitchforks flaming torches and pitchforks
- 24:48I'd like to see a flaming pitchfork very good very tiny small candle flames on the ends of it
- 24:53of the pitchforks you know the existence of the mob in other words should not be the reason why
- 24:57we're making decisions about hiring and firing this is not a good way to run HR yeah just because
- 25:02there's a mob screaming at the door and so Peter Singer's point really get home and I've tried
- 25:07to follow that ever since yes there should be consequences for being anti-Semitic yes there should
- 25:13be consequences for being Islamophobic yes there should be consequences for arguing for the genocide
- 25:17of Palestinians war of Jews those consequences should be that everyone around you thinks you're a
- 25:25fuck with and says so and argues with you and tries to prove why you're wrong the consequences
- 25:31should not be that secret what's our community groups pour over everything you've said to try to
- 25:38take out a context the most negative looking piece that thing that you've ever said in order to
- 25:44write to conduct a clandestine letter writing campaigns or even overt marches on the street in
- 25:51order to pressure and influence and coerce and strong arm people into depriving you of an
- 25:58income depriving you of essentially completely unrelated goods that you like everybody have a
- 26:03right to have in a free society so I don't like the rise of woke snitches I don't like the rise
- 26:11of conservative snitches I think you can always just make the example for yourself about
- 26:17whether or not what you're doing is the right thing by putting the show on the other foot
- 26:21and saying would I like this if someone was doing it to me and if you're response to that is well
- 26:26no I wouldn't but you know what they're doing is especially egregious stop it stop it you don't
- 26:32know that well you are not god have a little bit of epistemological humility understand that
- 26:39my perspective about the world is just my perspective yours is just your perspective you know
- 26:44I'm it's not it's not wild relativism to simply give the benefit of the doubt to people who you
- 26:49don't agree with I can certainly believe that I am objectively right about something and I can
- 26:54also respect the principle the algorithm the heuristic the sort of life rule the people who don't
- 27:01get it are nonetheless entitled to live a free and fulfilling life you know don't turn it into
- 27:07what you hate I guess is what I'm saying this is this has an analog lastly in the trends debate
- 27:15where the indoctrination of young people into the belief that there really is no such thing as
- 27:23two sexes or two genders that it's something that you make up so you are beings to decide
- 27:29the human beings can decide to change sexes that you know people who are gay for example are attracted
- 27:35to the opposite gender not the opposite sex it's muddying essentially the sort of the the
- 27:44philosophy that in some ways I fear demonizes a feminine gay boys and butch gay girls by
- 27:50implying that they're not doing gender quite right and they're probably trans and there's
- 27:54that is probably encouraging quite a lot of young camp guys to think that they might in fact be
- 28:00women instead of just a feminine gay guy it's like this whole ideology has bad is it is now pulling
- 28:07back from the extremes that it had and there's a bit of gas lining going on about whether or not
- 28:11the extreme trans activists who I must add are really actually trans people themselves these are
- 28:16often you know much like the Palestinian activists who are the most anti-Semitic and most active on
- 28:21Australia and social media they're not Palestinians they're not even there they're just well-meeting
- 28:26white clueless white girls similarly you know a lot of this trans stuff is pushed by
- 28:31university educated white cisgender people who regard themselves as allies and get a bonus for
- 28:36a feeling that they're doing the Lord's work in you know their secular atheist way of convincing
- 28:42a convincing everybody that these people are better than them because they don't believe in gender
- 28:47so the indoctrination the insistence of only having gender-referring care the young people and
- 28:54have never questioning the orthodoxy never interrogating whether or not for example a 13-year-old
- 28:59girl who presents as gender dysphoric and says that she's actually a boy should also be asked about
- 29:04whether or not she has depression whether or not she has autism whether or not she has anxiety
- 29:10whether there's anything else going on it's been verboten it has been impossible to ask that
- 29:14without being condemned as a conversion therapy loving you know anti-trans but anti-transbittic
- 29:21bigger and the fact that that that indoctrination was so intense the argument for why it was so
- 29:28rigid was look we're trying to fight against something which has been horribly pervasive for trans
- 29:35people for a long long time which is this orthodoxy of the sex binary and the belief being transgender
- 29:42was some kind of psychological dysfunction some kind of perversion and in order to push back
- 29:48against that orthodoxy we have to create create this new orthodoxy i hate that don't create the
- 29:54new orthodoxy don't silence your critics don't become a sensorious douchebag don't become the thing
- 30:01you hate don't enforce orthodoxies don't hunt dissenters of any stripe don't suppress debate for
- 30:08any reason that's the rule pointing to the other side and saying yeah but they're doing it or
- 30:14they did it first or we have to counter their hegemony by becoming a dark force of our own stop it
- 30:21stop scrolling through other people's private message threads to try to find information
- 30:28that you can hang them with go out get a life learn something have some empathy talk to
- 30:36people who you disagree with with actual listening ears on and try to understand them try to
- 30:44understand them and try to articulate your position to them in a way that they will at least understand
- 30:48if not agree with lastly i heard the wonderful Tim urban a friend of mine fabulous guy on a
- 30:55podcast i don't remember which one was then he was talking about that this is a book which you
- 31:00should read he was talking about how this sort of social justice left woke sensitivity
- 31:13sensoriousness victim wood culture it's a bit like he gives an analogy if someone said to you
- 31:23over in that corner you see that boxer that boxer that dude is the best boxer in the entire world
- 31:32and then you say who has he forged and they say no one he's too good we don't we don't want to risk
- 31:39you know him being punched uh you wouldn't necessarily agree that that boxer is the best boxer
- 31:44in the world you'd probably want to see that boxy in in the ring and see how the boxer actually
- 31:49works when they suffer punches from an opponent you certainly wouldn't trust this person who is
- 31:55saying that they need to keep their boxer inoculated and protected from punches that's the way
- 32:02that the new social justice left regards ideas their ideas are the best ideas in the world and you
- 32:08not allowed to criticize them and the moment you do criticize them they're not going to come back
- 32:12and attack the idea they're not going to get in the ring with you they're going to walk out of
- 32:16the boxing stadium and they're going to go and try to they're going to tap tap tap on and try to
- 32:21get you fired by you know sneakily telling telling on you best snitches their snitches I'm sorry
- 32:29let's stop revering snitches snitches but they should get stitches thank you
