- 0:03There is an unbelievable story when it comes to future demand
- 0:08for silver, whether you're talking about electronics,
- 0:11solar, wind, electric cars. But is there breaking news right
- 0:17now? A new source of demand, A change
- 0:21in technology that could result in a massive increase in silver
- 0:25demand as we head into the coming decades.
- 0:28Today, we are fortunate to be joined by Mr. John Little.
- 0:33I like to call him the Ron's Basement Silver Guru.
- 0:36I don't know if he'll enjoy that or not, but nonetheless, he's a
- 0:41writer. He's done years of research on
- 0:43silver. You can check out his work at
- 0:46the Silver Industry substack.com.
- 0:50I'll let him tell you more about that.
- 0:52But without further ado, John, welcome to Ron's Basement.
- 0:56Hey, it's my honor to be banished in the basement along
- 0:59with you where we belong. So that's right where we where
- 1:03we belong. So there's this crazy story
- 1:05about silver demand, right? So like we talked about solar,
- 1:08we've covered it all. And I know you write extensively
- 1:12about all of these subjects, but what's this new source of demand
- 1:16that I think all silver stackers, silver investors
- 1:20should be paying close attention to?
- 1:22Well, we know there's a lot of attention about the transition
- 1:26and net zero, and we've all agreed that there's probably
- 1:30going to be a mix of some clean energy, some gas, some nuclear,
- 1:35even coal, but with cars. You can't turn on the television
- 1:41today. I would say 70% of the ads are
- 1:45promoting electric vehicles. But the problem with an electric
- 1:48vehicle is the time it takes to recharge the battery and the
- 1:54expense of the batteries. We're just not sure that the
- 1:58lithium ion battery is that good of a battery, especially
- 2:03compared to a silver, zinc battery.
- 2:05And I'll give you an example. During the Hurricanes in
- 2:08Florida, when moisture interacts with a lithium ion battery, they
- 2:14explode. That's why in a submarine you
- 2:17only see silver zinc batteries. Another way of saying silver's
- 2:20superior to the other metals for its coned connectivity and
- 2:25thermal properties. So hydrogen fuel cell is even a
- 2:29step above the electric vehicle because of quick refueling.
- 2:35We're talking Minutes. And compared to sometimes ours
- 2:39for an electric vehicle, you have an extended driving range.
- 2:42You have high torque, which means, you know, when you step
- 2:45on that gas, you're going to accelerate more, so higher
- 2:48speed. And then they're super quiet,
- 2:51you know, and the first time I was in an electric car, I'm
- 2:54like, you know, this is comfortable.
- 2:55It's just a quiet ride. But these are even quieter.
- 2:59And then the emissions just vapor and much smaller thermal
- 3:03signature but the. Obstacle in the marketplace was
- 3:08the price, and the price was linked to the fact that they
- 3:12were using platinum. Now platinum is about $1000 an
- 3:16ounce, Silver is about $23.00 an ounce.
- 3:19So silver is 98 times cheaper than platinum.
- 3:24So now we've got Silver solving the problem, and you're going to
- 3:31see. Oh, by the way, that's the
- 3:34Silver industry.substack.com. Not to be nitpicking or anything
- 3:39about it. So in the latest article, it was
- 3:42just pinned yesterday by me. We get into how all of the big
- 3:48manufacturers, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Volkswagen, even GM,
- 3:54they're all in on these fuel cell cars because of these
- 3:59physical characteristics. You know the.
- 4:02Who doesn't want to have at the same price of an electric the
- 4:07extended driving range in the quick refuelling time?
- 4:10If you're looking to buy gold, silver or platinum, do yourself
- 4:14a favor and check out PIM Becks, the online precious metals
- 4:18bullion dealer and sponsor of Ron's Basement.
- 4:21I was a happy customer before they offered to support the
- 4:25channel. You'll find they have the best
- 4:27prices, quality and service. I think Pembex is best and you
- 4:32will too. And be sure to tell them that
- 4:35you're from Ron's basement. I want to circle back to
- 4:37something you started with talking about electric cars and
- 4:41I have a question for you. Would another benefit to the
- 4:44hydrogen fuel cell be that if you need to generate electricity
- 4:49to charge an electric car, often times that electricity is
- 4:53generated with fossil fuels, whereas the hydrogen fuel cell
- 4:58it's an independent system within the car.
- 5:01Is that accurate? Yeah, it's just another.
- 5:04It's an emerging source of energy and not just for cars,
- 5:09but we're looking at heavy duty machinery like you know, earth
- 5:13movers because of the torque it can actually the payloads are
- 5:19amazing and heating for homes too.
- 5:22So it's this is going to be a game changer, just like.
- 5:26I liken it to when we stopped. You see those pictures of the
- 5:30pioneer women having to chop wood to cook you know or men
- 5:36chopping down trees to for the steam.
- 5:39Now that was basically coal you know then coal replaced chopping
- 5:43down wood. Then the internal cut and bust
- 5:46an engine replaces the steam powered engine.
- 5:49So I'd say we're almost at one of those sorts of now I don't
- 5:52have a degree in. Engineering energy, but I know a
- 5:56little bit about it. So I would say this is a game
- 5:59changer. And the fact that silver usually
- 6:03people say in technologies, well we're going to use copper now
- 6:08instead of silver even in solar, there's been discussions about
- 6:12that. But then they sort of admit that
- 6:15these aren't very good performing solar panels compared
- 6:19to the silver load. So they end up reverting back to
- 6:23the design that used calls out silver.
- 6:26So in this case, if silver comes in 98 times cheaper than
- 6:30platinum, and actually in the article you'll see where the
- 6:33chemical mix is less sophisticated, making it easier
- 6:37to manufacture so without sacrificing any of the
- 6:41performance characteristics or physical characteristics.
- 6:46All it's like equal for equal yet 98 times cheaper.
- 6:50So this is very bullish for silver, silver mining and silver
- 6:54stackers too because where are we going to get the silver right
- 6:58now As we know, the data by the Silver Institute, a great group
- 7:02of people doing this research we all need, shows these monstrous
- 7:07deficits year over year in the millions of Oz.
- 7:12So and each day I'm publishing a new.
- 7:15Piece on trains, on robots, on satellites, aerospace, military.
- 7:23I just don't see where we're going to get this silver.
- 7:25So, so so the so the the game changing component of this
- 7:31hydrogen fuel cell situation is that and this has just been
- 7:36coming out in the in this week, in the last few days is that
- 7:39they've they've discovered there's a new discovery a way to
- 7:43substitute silver for the platinum that had previously
- 7:48been used to create these hydrogen fuel cells And and and
- 7:53that this technology really has the ability and has some real
- 7:57material benefits even when compared to electric cars.
- 8:03Is that is that a safe statement?
- 8:04First, Mining Gold is a development company advancing
- 8:07two of the largest gold projects in Canada, Spring Pole in
- 8:12Ontario and Duparque, located in Quebec.
- 8:15Each already has 5 million ounces of gold reserves, but
- 8:20exploration initiatives are underway at both projects to
- 8:24find even more gold. First, Mining is well financed,
- 8:28has zero debt and owns an interest in four additional
- 8:32Canadian Gold development projects.
- 8:35If you were to look at Honda's marketing material, they'll show
- 8:41that they're stopped. They're almost phasing out
- 8:43internal combustion. And then the next phase is they
- 8:47go to the more manufacturing emphasis on hybrid vehicles and
- 8:51then a traditional just 100% electric for the 0 emission
- 8:57technology. And above that in terms of their
- 9:00production schedule starting in about next year is what they're
- 9:05calling the Clarity Fuel Cell. So it's just going along the
- 9:09evolution. We're gonna, I think the
- 9:12traditional electric vehicle is gonna be the the Dodo bird
- 9:17dinosaur. But you know and when and when
- 9:20you think about electric cars it takes a long time to charge
- 9:26them. They use a tremendous amount of
- 9:29critical minerals and their battery composition And and I
- 9:34wanna come back to this, I think it's important to remember too
- 9:37that that, you know, unless you have solar panels on your roof
- 9:40that you're using to generate electricity to charge your car,
- 9:43if you're a typical suburbanite in a large city, that
- 9:47electricity that's being used to generate your car is likely
- 9:51being generated by the burning of fossil fuels.
- 9:54And. And I want to go back to this
- 9:56idea that the hydrogen car doesn't require that burning of
- 10:02any, any fossil fuels. Is that is that what you think?
- 10:05I'm not saying. I don't think I'm going to say
- 10:07that because I need to. I'm writing out my articles
- 10:11focused on silver substituting for platinum and hydrogen being
- 10:19less charging time, more torque, more speed, more range.
- 10:24So you know, anytime you start, I'll give you an example there,
- 10:28the recent scientific discovery where.
- 10:33Allegedly they were able to ZAP some fusion and get more energy
- 10:39out of it. Then allegedly they put in, but
- 10:42they forgot to calculate this sort of burning of fossil fuels
- 10:46from the grid that went into the zapping.
- 10:50So it's it's like what you just said.
- 10:52When we see the guy driving around his Tesla, we got to
- 10:55remember that it it was most likely a coal burning power
- 10:59plant that fed the energy grid in most in most jurisdictions.
- 11:05So I'm not going to go as far to say that this is doesn't have a
- 11:11fossil fuel equipment, almost everything does.
- 11:15There is no way. There is no perpetual motion
- 11:17machine, just like nuclear energy to build a nuclear plant.
- 11:22We're talking look how much steel you got to put in there,
- 11:24look at how much concrete you got to put in there.
- 11:27All of that takes an enormous amount of fossil fuel just like
- 11:31when you mine for silver and gold.
- 11:33That's one thing comfortable to me about holding gold and silver
- 11:38is knowing that all that diesel and fossil fuel that goes in to
- 11:42mining, it puts a floor underneath the price of silver
- 11:47and gold because the all in sustaining cost of mining.
- 11:52Is very close to the spot price now for silver it's about 22
- 11:56bucks and I think Steve Saint Angelo just pinned a piece last
- 12:01week that the top 10s with the exception of Fortuna, most of
- 12:07them were right in right at that floor of because of because of
- 12:14diesel and labour. It's it's certainly interesting
- 12:19as we head into this next decade with the green energy
- 12:23revolution, how that will play with the silver market and the
- 12:28other precious metals markets. I want to remind our viewers if
- 12:32you want to read more of John's writing he puts out a piece
- 12:37almost every day feels like always focused on an interesting
- 12:41component to the silver market. You can check that out at the
- 12:46silver industry.substack.com Did I get it right that time And and
- 12:52I and you know what I'll even put a correct link in the
- 12:55description of this video. John, on behalf of all of our
- 12:58viewers, you know you've come back to the to the basement here
- 13:01several times. Thank you so much.
- 13:03You're a wealth of knowledge and you know the fact that you'll
- 13:06spend some time with us here in the basement and share that is
- 13:10is greatly appreciated. Well, no, it's totally vice
- 13:15versa. I mean, it's my honor and I'd
- 13:17love. I'm one of your basement
- 13:19dwellers. Let me just say that you're
- 13:22always welcome here. Again, on behalf of everyone,
- 13:26thank you and we'll look forward to seeing you next time.
- 13:29And everybody buy the dip. Buy the dip.
- 13:32Just keep dollar cost averaging into your silver positions.
- 13:36That's right. See you, John.
- 13:38Thank you. Thank you.
- 13:39You are a big deal. And it's a big deal to me that
- 13:43you have decided to join me here in the basement.
- 13:46If you want to come back, if you want a new piece of content
- 13:51focused on the silver and gold market every single day, I'm
- 13:55going to put out new video once a day for the rest of my life.
- 13:59Please subscribe to Ron's Basement.
- 14:01It'd be my honor to have you back and leave a comment in the
