- 0:00Speaker 1: Our guest today, three time pro bowler on Fox giving
- 0:05Speaker 1: you the breakdown each and every single week, hailing from
- 0:09Speaker 1: the U when the U was a U.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Give it up for greg Olso.
- 0:16Speaker 3: This is a long time coming. I was just gonna
- 0:18Speaker 3: say that I've never been on the I've gone, I've
- 0:20Speaker 3: been on with you guys. Been never on the bus.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Correct, we do a zoom.
- 0:25Speaker 4: I don't even know if Taylor was part of it
- 0:27Speaker 4: because I was doing tight in you and that was
- 0:29Speaker 4: when it was in your guys hotel. It was in
- 0:31Speaker 4: the hotel.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Yeah, how's it feel?
- 0:36Speaker 3: It feels great. It's everything I ever dreamed of, Right,
- 0:40Speaker 3: It's I really like your whole set up here, the bus,
- 0:44Speaker 3: inside the shed. It's going on out here. You got
- 0:47Speaker 3: a lot going on out here, a lot of it's
- 0:49Speaker 3: it has good. You can tell there's like a good
- 0:51Speaker 3: culture here.
- 0:52Speaker 1: You could when you walk in this warehouse, you could
- 0:54Speaker 1: just tell, like there are only dudes that this.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Play is.
- 1:00Speaker 2: There's trash over the.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Place like this looked like when I walked into my
- 1:04Speaker 3: So I got here for tu. I got my two
- 1:06Speaker 3: boys twelve and fourteen, and my nephew who's fifteen, and
- 1:12Speaker 3: our friend from home who's twelve, and the four boys
- 1:14Speaker 3: are sharing two double bed you know, two double beds
- 1:17Speaker 3: right now when we they're living a dream. Well, I'm
- 1:19Speaker 3: sure we'll talk about the week. But we walked in.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I walked into the room with my wife this morning.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I thought my wife was going to throw up. When
- 1:26Speaker 3: I tell you, there was not a square inch of
- 1:28Speaker 3: carpet visible on the floor. Clothes, wet towels, shoes, their
- 1:34Speaker 3: cleats from yesterday's workout, dirty socks, all the shit they've
- 1:37Speaker 3: given away here at t you that when I walked
- 1:40Speaker 3: into their room and I walked into your little shit
- 1:43Speaker 3: like that's kind of It was very similar.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Just a bunch of teenagers with bedtel, more money exactly,
- 1:50Speaker 1: more expensive trash on the ground.
- 1:53Speaker 4: What's the conversation you walk in that room? You know,
- 1:55Speaker 4: Mom's pissed.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Mom's pissed. That's like a that's like a boys get up,
- 2:01Speaker 3: like they're you know, they're still sleeping, they're like in
- 2:03Speaker 3: bed under We let ourselves in, so we got a
- 2:05Speaker 3: key and it's like all right, fellas, you got literally
- 2:09Speaker 3: forty five seconds to like be out of bed. Showing
- 2:12Speaker 3: some level of urgency, even if it's fake, even if
- 2:15Speaker 3: it's like fake energy. Like you've got to be up,
- 2:18Speaker 3: putting stuff in the hamper, putting stuff in your bag.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Just fold the same shirt five times, right, like you
- 2:23Speaker 3: don't even know what you're doing. Just you gotta look
- 2:26Speaker 3: busy and look active because if not, you're you're done.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Mom's gonna get you.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah you're dead.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Yeah you can.
- 2:31Speaker 1: You can't have that your boys, I'll be honestly, that's
- 2:34Speaker 1: some talent when it comes to in a baseball.
- 2:37Speaker 3: We're working on it. They could be better.
- 2:40Speaker 4: You can tell they're working on too. Greg was you know,
- 2:42Speaker 4: we take it. Yeah, he was a father.
- 2:44Speaker 1: You you are the ultimate boy dad.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just I have very little patients and I'm
- 2:49Speaker 3: I probably drive my kids nuts. I just have very
- 2:52Speaker 3: little patience. I'm good. If they told me today, like
- 2:55Speaker 3: you know what, dad, Like, sports isn't our thing? Fine,
- 2:59Speaker 3: Like I don't need them to play sports. But if
- 3:01Speaker 3: we're gonna play sports, we're gonna play right, Like we're
- 3:04Speaker 3: not gonna like we're just not gonna participate and be
- 3:06Speaker 3: on the team and just be around. And what I
- 3:09Speaker 3: do at practice is enough, but at home, I'm like more,
- 3:11Speaker 3: if you're gonna be on this team, and you're gonna
- 3:13Speaker 3: say you want to be good, I don't know any
- 3:16Speaker 3: other way than just like, let's go be good. Like,
- 3:17Speaker 3: let's go be as good as you can be, whatever
- 3:19Speaker 3: that is. You don't need to be a star. But
- 3:21Speaker 3: like I don't do a lot of shit half assed.
- 3:24Speaker 3: So that's kind of like my big message to them, Like,
- 3:27Speaker 3: all right, if you're gonna I always say, like if
- 3:29Speaker 3: you're gonna be a bear, be a grizzly, Like, if
- 3:31Speaker 3: we're gonna do it, let's do it. If you don't
- 3:32Speaker 3: want to do it, no problem, we'll go do something else.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Oh good.
- 3:34Speaker 3: But like if we're gonna be on the team and
- 3:36Speaker 3: we're gonna want to go to week long tournaments and
- 3:38Speaker 3: we want to go travel to here and try try
- 3:41Speaker 3: out for this, all right, if you want to do that,
- 3:43Speaker 3: I'll show you what that looks like. But it's a
- 3:45Speaker 3: lot of work.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Was that what your childhood was like?
- 3:48Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 3:48Speaker 1: It was your dad very similar that way. If you're
- 3:50Speaker 1: gonna do something, we're doing one hundred percent.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:52Speaker 3: So my dad was my high school football coach, so
- 3:55Speaker 3: picture from nineteen. He started coaching in the late seventies.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Coach Ironhead Hayward coach. I mean he coached some real dudes,
- 4:02Speaker 3: coached me and all my brothers. He coached at my
- 4:05Speaker 3: high school, public school in New Jersey, typical suburban public
- 4:08Speaker 3: high school from nineteen eighty five, the year I was
- 4:11Speaker 3: born until twenty thirteen. He was at our school that
- 4:14Speaker 3: we grew up going that we grew up and went to.
- 4:16Speaker 3: So picture traditional high school football coach, hard, intense, all
- 4:23Speaker 3: that picture it. That was him, and we won a
- 4:26Speaker 3: shit ton of games. He won ten state titles. Like
- 4:29Speaker 3: we were good, but it was serious. Like we grew
- 4:31Speaker 3: up going to summer camps and we slept on the
- 4:33Speaker 3: floor of a dorm room in a sleeping bag, and
- 4:36Speaker 3: we were working camps and going. That was our summer vacations.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Like that's all we knew was football, locker rooms, water boy,
- 4:42Speaker 3: ball boy. And then eventually grew up and played for him.
- 4:45Speaker 3: But yeah, we there wasn't a whole lot of just
- 4:47Speaker 3: like casualness to our sports and journey as kids. And
- 4:52Speaker 3: I know it's not for everybody, but obviously I'm thankful
- 4:55Speaker 3: for it because that's where I learned. That's where my
- 4:57Speaker 3: whole foundation was laid.
- 4:59Speaker 4: And you're trying to lay this same foundation for your boys.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Yeah, as long as they want to do it. Yeah, right,
- 5:03Speaker 3: So like I have two boys.
- 5:05Speaker 4: And did you have the same choice when you were
- 5:07Speaker 4: growing up.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Yeah, we loved it. Like my dad did not have
- 5:10Speaker 3: to beg us to go throw the ball, to go run,
- 5:13Speaker 3: and we played everything. We played basketball, we played baseball
- 5:16Speaker 3: growing up. I did track in high school, basketball all
- 5:18Speaker 3: four years in high school. So it wasn't like today
- 5:20Speaker 3: where all right, eighth ninth grade, you're gonna be a
- 5:22Speaker 3: football player. You're just gonna do football for four years
- 5:25Speaker 3: like that. We didn't have that back when we were
- 5:27Speaker 3: growing up. So we played everything. But like he never
- 5:30Speaker 3: had to beg us. He never made us go to
- 5:32Speaker 3: the gym. He never made us go out to the field.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Now when we went, it was hard, like looking back
- 5:37Speaker 3: what we were doing in eighth ninth grade relative to
- 5:40Speaker 3: the times that we were in like it was it
- 5:42Speaker 3: was pretty intense. Like our weight room. We were lifting
- 5:44Speaker 3: with the high school kids, and it was four days
- 5:46Speaker 3: a week in the summer and it was hot and
- 5:47Speaker 3: it was sleep away camp and we were exposed to
- 5:50Speaker 3: that since we were in middle school. But he never
- 5:53Speaker 3: had a he never made us go. It was never
- 5:56Speaker 3: forced upon us. We loved it, but it was hard,
- 5:59Speaker 3: and I'm thankful for that.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Do you see the same thing with your kids? Do
- 6:01Speaker 1: they love it?
- 6:02Speaker 4: Are they all about it?
- 6:03Speaker 3: I think they? I think they love it. I think
- 6:06Speaker 3: we live in very different times, right. I think we
- 6:09Speaker 3: live in very It's a very much more distracted world
- 6:12Speaker 3: of youth sports. I think it's a lot more highlight driven,
- 6:16Speaker 3: it's a lot more social media driven. I think there's
- 6:18Speaker 3: a lot more pressure on these kids because they know
- 6:20Speaker 3: every single kid, both around town and around the country now,
- 6:23Speaker 3: who they are, what their names are, how hard they throw,
- 6:26Speaker 3: how big they all, how t are they all, how
- 6:27Speaker 3: many home runs they've hit. It's all accessible. Growing up,
- 6:31Speaker 3: you knew who the star was of your town. You
- 6:33Speaker 3: knew who maybe the town next to you because you
- 6:35Speaker 3: played against them in all your sports. That was it
- 6:37Speaker 3: until I went to Miami in high school. I didn't
- 6:40Speaker 3: for a summer camp. I didn't know what else was
- 6:43Speaker 3: out there. Like, all I knew was North Jersey sports,
- 6:47Speaker 3: and you know, lived in a very you know, kind
- 6:48Speaker 3: of little bubble. But then the kids now they're playing
- 6:52Speaker 3: in tournaments out of state. You know, they're going to Texas.
- 6:54Speaker 3: We live in North Carolina. They're going to Texas, They've
- 6:56Speaker 3: been to Florida, Georgia, They've been all over and played
- 6:59Speaker 3: teams from all over the country. So there's this there's
- 7:01Speaker 3: a bigger scale of like what good looks like at
- 7:05Speaker 3: twelve years old, fourteen years old, and it's dangerous. It's
- 7:07Speaker 3: hard if you're not. My kids aren't the biggest kids.
- 7:10Speaker 3: They're not the most physical kids. They're not the big
- 7:12Speaker 3: grown man at twelve. Like you go to some of
- 7:15Speaker 3: these events, your confidence can get shot pretty quick because
- 7:18Speaker 3: you look around and there's a twelve year old walks
- 7:20Speaker 3: in it looks like you and he's throwing eighty I'm serious.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Some of these kids are insane.
- 7:24Speaker 1: We saw a picture the other day of some five
- 7:26Speaker 1: star War crews seventeen years old and he looks like
- 7:29Speaker 1: a forty five year old man. Yeah, and it's just like,
- 7:31Speaker 1: what's in the water, what's going on? Because it just
- 7:33Speaker 1: seems like everyone's just getting bigger, stronger fast.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I just walk out of these baseball, basketball, whatever tournaments.
- 7:39Speaker 3: We've done mostly baseball with the boys on like that level,
- 7:43Speaker 3: and I'll be walking out and mind you, they're twelve,
- 7:45Speaker 3: thirteen years old and I'm a fairly tall guy. I'm
- 7:49Speaker 3: walking out of these parks and I'm looking around and
- 7:52Speaker 3: the twelve year old kid who just threw seventy five
- 7:54Speaker 3: on the mound, who's five eleven and dad's five nine.
- 7:59Speaker 3: It's I don't know, there's something in the water. There's
- 8:02Speaker 3: something going on.
- 8:03Speaker 1: PDEs hows this is going on.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Listen. I don't know what's going on, but there's something
- 8:08Speaker 3: going on because kids, I know everyone always says it
- 8:11Speaker 3: wasn't like this in my day, but it wasn't that
- 8:14Speaker 3: long ago. Kids did not look like they do now.
- 8:17Speaker 3: To answer your question, they love it. I do think
- 8:20Speaker 3: like all kids, they get caught up and like, that's
- 8:22Speaker 3: the best kid, he's the best kid. Oh, he got
- 8:25Speaker 3: selected to this event. He got selected to this fest.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Like I was telling me, it's not a race to twelve.
- 8:30Speaker 3: But it's very hard to convince young kids that the
- 8:33Speaker 3: moment they're in right now doesn't define their athletic career forever.
- 8:37Speaker 3: And that's a battle right now, it's right, it's there,
- 8:40Speaker 3: right now, and then they're making these kids to be superheroes.
- 8:42Speaker 3: It that's our biggest struggle.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Has there ever been Has there ever been a struggle
- 8:47Speaker 1: for you for your kids being like, oh, my dad
- 8:50Speaker 1: did X, Y and Z with his career, and they
- 8:52Speaker 1: feel like they should live up to some sort of expectations.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I'm sure. And again, we live in Charlotte, which you know,
- 8:57Speaker 3: obviously the bulk of my career, the bulk of my
- 8:59Speaker 3: six was there. I think if we lived in Nashville,
- 9:03Speaker 3: it would be different. If we lived in where you know,
- 9:05Speaker 3: I think it'd be different if we lived in a
- 9:06Speaker 3: city that I didn't play the bulk of my career.
- 9:09Speaker 3: The vast majority of the people in the Carolinas know
- 9:12Speaker 3: me from my career, and yeah, when they come in
- 9:15Speaker 3: are there are people going that's all since kid. I
- 9:17Speaker 3: hope he strikes out, that's all. Since kid. He's not
- 9:19Speaker 3: that good. He is that good. That's his daughter. I'm sure.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Because they're comparing, they're comparing their kids versus your kids,
- 9:25Speaker 1: my kids, kid, his dad was actually trust.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Me, they want to beat our teams. And I coach
- 9:29Speaker 3: a bunch of the kids sports. I coach each kid
- 9:31Speaker 3: for one season, and yeah, they want to beat us.
- 9:33Speaker 3: There's no question. I'm aware of that. I make my
- 9:36Speaker 3: kids aware of that because I'm not going to shelter
- 9:40Speaker 3: them from that, Like, if you guys want to do
- 9:42Speaker 3: this a The competitive landscape of sports has never been
- 9:47Speaker 3: higher at the young age. It's just it's just the
- 9:50Speaker 3: nature of the world we live in, right, wrong, or indifferent.
- 9:52Speaker 3: And when you're around here, especially some of these people
- 9:54Speaker 3: that they might not like me, they might whatever it is,
- 9:58Speaker 3: there's a lot of people that are not rooting for
- 9:59Speaker 3: you to have success, and you've better be mentally strong
- 10:03Speaker 3: enough that that does not waiver anything you do. But again,
- 10:08Speaker 3: they're young, they're in middle school. It's hard, they're very influent.
- 10:11Speaker 3: It's a very unique world. But we don't get it
- 10:15Speaker 3: all right, But I teach my kids we're gonna compete
- 10:18Speaker 3: our ass off, and we're gonna do all the work
- 10:20Speaker 3: humanly possible in between your competitions to give yourself the
- 10:24Speaker 3: utmost chance to have success. Whatever the result is from there.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Great you hit three home runs, Great you strike out
- 10:30Speaker 3: five times. Did you do the work and compete your
- 10:33Speaker 3: ass off and go out and battle. If you did that,
- 10:36Speaker 3: we'll fix the rest. But the second you stop competing,
- 10:39Speaker 3: the second you stop putting the work in, the second
- 10:41Speaker 3: you start feeling sorry. That's the part I don't. I
- 10:44Speaker 3: don't have a lot of patience for that.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Yeah. And you're saying that they're learning about these kids
- 10:48Speaker 4: from other states and everything else just through like social media, Yeah,
- 10:51Speaker 4: which is true. It's like growing up playing travel baseball,
- 10:53Speaker 4: you wouldn't necessarily know, like you're still coming across like
- 10:56Speaker 4: kids you were throwing seventy plus, but you wouldn't see
- 10:58Speaker 4: until the're warming up on the mount, like, oh, fuck,
- 11:00Speaker 4: this guy's pretty good.
- 11:02Speaker 3: You know the second the games come out. You know
- 11:04Speaker 3: a Will Compton he plays for the Oshkosh select Fit
- 11:07Speaker 3: Boom Boom Elite National. I hope he doesn't pitch because
- 11:10Speaker 3: Taylor he throws eight. Oh. They know every kid on
- 11:13Speaker 3: every team, whether they're from California, North Carolina, that doesn't matter.
- 11:17Speaker 1: That's crazy concept to like wrap your mind around, because.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Like because games can go on and lost, like just
- 11:23Speaker 4: before start.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Because growing up as like baseball, like baseball, basketball, football,
- 11:28Speaker 1: like you kind of just showed up and played, and
- 11:29Speaker 1: you hear about like the kids that were really good
- 11:32Speaker 1: at baseball, they would start going to the camp suit
- 11:34Speaker 1: and things like hockey. My dad grewup in a Diyna, Minnesota,
- 11:36Speaker 1: and my brother got really good at hockey. So at
- 11:38Speaker 1: a young age, it was like, we need to go
- 11:39Speaker 1: to all these travel events, do all those travel things.
- 11:42Speaker 1: And for me it was like, yeah, just keep playing
- 11:43Speaker 1: sports and get a scholarship.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Great.
- 11:45Speaker 1: If not, like it is, it is what it is.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Football is a little different.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Football is a little different. It's kind of like because
- 11:50Speaker 1: I mean, until kids hit puberty and like kind of
- 11:52Speaker 1: understand what they are and who they are. It's like
- 11:54Speaker 1: it's that you'll find out who you are in the future.
- 11:56Speaker 1: With that Baseball, it seems like guys are getting figured
- 11:59Speaker 1: out quickly. Basketball seems that way. Hockey for sure, Like
- 12:02Speaker 1: it's crazy to me that kids go to a billet family. Like, oh,
- 12:07Speaker 1: you're fourteen years old, do you have an opportunity to
- 12:09Speaker 1: be make it in hockey? Are you're going to move
- 12:10Speaker 1: up north to Michigan or Minnesota and you're gonna go
- 12:13Speaker 1: live with a different family you don't know, so you
- 12:15Speaker 1: have a better opportunity to do this.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Yeah. The culture, Yeah, the culture of hockey is very unique.
- 12:19Speaker 3: That's the most. I don't know a lot about it.
- 12:22Speaker 3: We haven't been hockey family, but it's definitely the most intense,
- 12:26Speaker 3: the most that kind of track almost more like Olympic,
- 12:29Speaker 3: like Olympic sports where these young tennis stars, these prodigies
- 12:32Speaker 3: in golf, tennis. You know, these young girls go live
- 12:34Speaker 3: at IMG at fourteen and there's these academies around the
- 12:38Speaker 3: world for tennis and golf and all that. Almost gymnastics
- 12:41Speaker 3: is kind of like that. Hockey fits in that. That's
- 12:43Speaker 3: what's so cool about football though, Like so on the
- 12:46Speaker 3: other side of the coin, we coach our kids, both
- 12:48Speaker 3: my boys, on our middle school football team and it's
- 12:50Speaker 3: just our school, seventh and eighth grade kids at our school.
- 12:54Speaker 3: We got fifty some odd kids that come out for
- 12:56Speaker 3: the team and we represent our school like it's easy.
- 13:00Speaker 3: It's what we It's what I remember growing up. There
- 13:03Speaker 3: was no get this kid from here, get this kid
- 13:06Speaker 3: from here, had a ball. But whoever showed up players,
- 13:08Speaker 3: whoever's on your school and comes out for the team,
- 13:10Speaker 3: that's your team, and you just coaches shit out of
- 13:12Speaker 3: them and see how good you can get.
- 13:13Speaker 1: It feels like on a national From a national standpoint, though,
- 13:15Speaker 1: it is kind of shifting a little bit because you
- 13:17Speaker 1: brought up IMG and these like bigger schools that are
- 13:20Speaker 1: essentially recruiting guys. We have J C. Tretder Jase Latham,
- 13:23Speaker 1: excuse me, Jace Latham on and he was in Wisconsin
- 13:26Speaker 1: right and he was kind of doing whatever, and they
- 13:28Speaker 1: recruited him to go down to IMG and that's where
- 13:31Speaker 1: all the four and five star kids go. And that's
- 13:33Speaker 1: just it seems like that's starting to go that way.
- 13:35Speaker 3: It's getting football. It's getting younger and younger and younger.
- 13:38Speaker 3: That used to not happen till you were junior in
- 13:40Speaker 3: high school. Now it's happening as a rising ninth grader.
- 13:44Speaker 3: And now it's going to move even younger now to
- 13:46Speaker 3: middle school. Kids are going to relocate. The thing that's
- 13:48Speaker 3: unique about football is seven on seven is kind of
- 13:53Speaker 3: taking over that travel baseball, travel basketball AAE circuit where
- 13:57Speaker 3: it is more it's not school dominated, it's true travel
- 14:01Speaker 3: ball collect as many good kids make your whatever seven
- 14:04Speaker 3: on seven team and then go around to all these
- 14:06Speaker 3: events that more of the AAU circuit, the eybl And
- 14:09Speaker 3: and you know, travel basket baseball and all that. The
- 14:14Speaker 3: wholesomeness though, of school sports is still the strongest in football.
- 14:19Speaker 3: That's where kids really get recruited. That's where colleges still
- 14:22Speaker 3: know your high school coach. The other sports are losing
- 14:26Speaker 3: that a little bit, and I don't necessarily love it.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I think there's something special about playing for your town,
- 14:31Speaker 3: your school with your buddies Friday night. You can't it's
- 14:35Speaker 3: hard to describe to a kid nowadays what that looks like.
- 14:39Speaker 3: But like, I don't know how you guys feel, but like,
- 14:40Speaker 3: looking back on that, the highlight of my entire football journey,
- 14:44Speaker 3: I had really fun times, great guys, Like, there's something
- 14:47Speaker 3: cool playing with your buddies at your school Friday night,
- 14:51Speaker 3: in front of your town and going to try to
- 14:53Speaker 3: beat the town next door to you that you grew
- 14:54Speaker 3: up playing against. Those kids. Like I don't know, man,
- 14:56Speaker 3: I just don't think you ever beat that?
- 14:58Speaker 4: Do you care? Not be?
- 14:59Speaker 1: I mean, just put on ca Is the Boys of Fault.
- 15:01Speaker 3: That doesn't get you fired up? He got juiced just
- 15:04Speaker 3: the purity of the game. Like you don't know that
- 15:06Speaker 3: a monster energy drink is bad for you, but you're
- 15:09Speaker 3: going to.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Go to the gas station with you don't know. Yeah,
- 15:13Speaker 4: if I take one of these, I'm gonna have some
- 15:15Speaker 4: more juice before the game. Oh what's getting your ankle stape?
- 15:17Speaker 4: That seems like I don't know if I should that
- 15:19Speaker 4: seems kind of cool you watch Friday Night Lights, Like, right,
- 15:21Speaker 4: the purity of the game in high school football, there's
- 15:25Speaker 4: just there's.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Nothing like playing being able to play, be lucky enough
- 15:28Speaker 1: to play every level of the game of football. The
- 15:31Speaker 1: fact that high school is the best in our minds
- 15:33Speaker 1: is great because everybody, every kid can go and play
- 15:36Speaker 1: high school football and feel that Friday night Lights.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Yeah, where you you.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Kind of feel like you're the main event. And if
- 15:41Speaker 1: you're lucky enough to grow up in a smaller town there,
- 15:44Speaker 1: you cannot fucking beat it.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Dude.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Like we my sophomore year of high school, just a
- 15:48Speaker 1: bunch of gritty white kids. We go fifteen to O
- 15:51Speaker 1: and go to State Down in Phoenix, and the town
- 15:53Speaker 1: itself put up little signs a closed.
- 15:56Speaker 3: For Stated Down like the movies.
- 15:58Speaker 1: It's that's just it's amazing, and you feel like for
- 16:01Speaker 1: that moment, you're like, we are the main attractions.
- 16:05Speaker 4: When you're like you're you're you're obviously extremely motivated in
- 16:09Speaker 4: college and when you play in the NFL and professional ball,
- 16:11Speaker 4: but when you're when you're in high school, like I
- 16:14Speaker 4: feel like it's when you're just the most inspired. You
- 16:16Speaker 4: know nothing about the business side of everything. You know
- 16:19Speaker 4: nothing about any of the bureaucracies that go on with
- 16:21Speaker 4: depth charts or any of that stuff. At the highest
- 16:24Speaker 4: level in college, like high school, it's like you are
- 16:27Speaker 4: just the most inspired by players. You want to be
- 16:29Speaker 4: like players, you want to emulate, just living the dream
- 16:32Speaker 4: in your head a little bit on a Friday night.
- 16:34Speaker 4: It is. It is the best.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And you got even more pureform because like those rivals
- 16:38Speaker 1: in twenty four seven, where those.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Are just starting, just starting, so it wasn't I was
- 16:41Speaker 3: in its infancy of like rankings and player rankings and
- 16:44Speaker 3: stars and all that. I was just starting when I
- 16:46Speaker 3: was in high school.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Because I remember going to like twenty four to seven. Yeah,
- 16:50Speaker 1: and after every game, we didn't get a statute ourselves.
- 16:53Speaker 1: So I would like wait for that to load up
- 16:54Speaker 1: to get how many tackles did I really get? I
- 16:56Speaker 1: feel like I got eight and it'd be like three,
- 16:57Speaker 1: Like okay, I can see how they got there, you know.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I felt like that's a pile. I was a big
- 17:04Speaker 1: pile jumper, big pile jumper. I got the assist there boys,
- 17:08Speaker 1: you're welcome.
- 17:09Speaker 3: And out the guy that's doing the PA announcing, he
- 17:12Speaker 3: just found the closest number he can find. He's just
- 17:15Speaker 3: saying your name all day.
- 17:16Speaker 4: You're a hero, right exactly one on the tech.
- 17:19Speaker 3: But we're losing that, like talk about IMG and and
- 17:22Speaker 3: those academies. That's one thing. There's public high schools all
- 17:25Speaker 3: around the country that kids are going to four different
- 17:27Speaker 3: schools in four years. There's public schools that're they're getting
- 17:30Speaker 3: apartment buildings down the street and you can just move in,
- 17:33Speaker 3: write your new address on and you go to a
- 17:34Speaker 3: new school like that. Florida's got school choice. You can
- 17:38Speaker 3: transfer free of charge, go to any school within your
- 17:40Speaker 3: county and not have to know the need to live there.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Like it's it's the wild West right now.
- 17:47Speaker 1: When I when I was in high school, I was
- 17:48Speaker 1: I was in a small town, right we I told
- 17:50Speaker 1: you the state things. Sophomore The next year we go
- 17:52Speaker 1: like three and seven. We were really bad, and we
- 17:55Speaker 1: played a school in Scottsdale, Arizona, and one of the
- 17:58Speaker 1: coaches coach me and Papa Warner, and he's, hey, Taylor,
- 18:00Speaker 1: he's got the frame for being off. It's a line
- 18:01Speaker 1: and they kind of start doing the little recruiting thing.
- 18:03Speaker 1: So all my dad did was go get an apartment
- 18:05Speaker 1: that was a block away, and now you're in the
- 18:07Speaker 1: district and I was. I started school like before the
- 18:10Speaker 1: end of my junior year.
- 18:11Speaker 3: You were ahead of the times, ahead.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Of the times. Man, the best decision I ever made.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I was heartbroken to leave my boys though, because that's
- 18:16Speaker 1: what's all about. Friday we had one dairy queen. And
- 18:20Speaker 1: then because the Cave Creek, Arizona, like they don't allow
- 18:23Speaker 1: any franchises, but like in the eighties, they're like, hey,
- 18:25Speaker 1: well allow dairy queen. That was a big deal for
- 18:27Speaker 1: the town. So Fridays before games, we will go smack
- 18:30Speaker 1: a blizzard before game, go play, thinking like, yeah, we're
- 18:34Speaker 1: juiced opping. Yeah, I'm starting to get my cows up.
- 18:36Speaker 1: That's all I care about is you have a little
- 18:37Speaker 1: more weight on handle this double team a little bit
- 18:39Speaker 1: better now. And then after that, it's like, who's got
- 18:42Speaker 1: a fake ID? Who's that's it? Right there?
- 18:44Speaker 4: Catching a cramp at the after party because you played
- 18:46Speaker 4: so much.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Exactly yeah, and you're like, soe, soone parents are out
- 18:50Speaker 1: of town. Yeah, someone's parents are out of town, and
- 18:53Speaker 1: so they got a couple of racks of bud light
- 18:55Speaker 1: and we're gonna get there and like I'm gonna hopefully
- 18:57Speaker 1: get three beers in me and be like this is.
- 19:00Speaker 3: This is what where does life go from here?
- 19:04Speaker 2: It does? It?
- 19:04Speaker 1: Just babies and memories after that?
- 19:07Speaker 3: Lots of them, Yeah, I got lots of them.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Headstrong on the bus.
- 19:14Speaker 3: The music, high school, locker room music. I think every
- 19:19Speaker 3: high school in America for the most part, listened to
- 19:21Speaker 3: the same like six songs.
- 19:23Speaker 1: You know, I mean the amount of times you hear
- 19:25Speaker 1: a thunderstruck.
- 19:29Speaker 2: But every time you sitting there like.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Ah, like I wasn't like in high school, I don't
- 19:34Speaker 3: know you Like in high school, like we all like
- 19:35Speaker 3: were in our rap phase where like everyone loved rap
- 19:38Speaker 3: music and biggie like that was our era. But in
- 19:42Speaker 3: a locker room, like it didn't matter who was in
- 19:44Speaker 3: the locker room. Like there was something about rock music
- 19:47Speaker 3: in pregame. You wouldn't listen to that song in a
- 19:49Speaker 3: million years. But if you're if you're spatting up, did
- 19:54Speaker 3: you guys used to get to the games early because
- 19:55Speaker 3: you wanted to change your cleats? Like did you guys
- 19:58Speaker 3: have screwing cleats?
- 20:00Speaker 4: Nope? I had.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I had Nike Sharks and you could actually take so
- 20:03Speaker 1: the Nike Swish. You could had like little colors and
- 20:06Speaker 1: you could pull out the color put it.
- 20:08Speaker 3: You guys are so much younger than me, dude. The
- 20:10Speaker 3: highlight of high school football was we were able to
- 20:13Speaker 3: finally use detachable cleats. Like you'd go so like go
- 20:16Speaker 3: before the game, meet all the other buddies and the team.
- 20:18Speaker 3: We were gonna get there early. I got to put
- 20:19Speaker 3: in new cleats. My dad would buy like boxes of
- 20:22Speaker 3: just detachable cleats, so like only the seniors could get
- 20:26Speaker 3: like fresh ones. And you made the freshmen they they
- 20:29Speaker 3: were down to like their nubs. You can see the
- 20:31Speaker 3: men coming through. But man, you sit there with those
- 20:33Speaker 3: little keys, you change your spikes. The spikes were this big,
- 20:37Speaker 3: and you'd walk around like the tile locker rooms and school.
- 20:40Speaker 3: It was like, dude, thunder is the best, Like you.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Got that one that one coach on the staff that
- 20:48Speaker 4: knows how to make a little highlight tape in the
- 20:49Speaker 4: DHS in thunderstrucks in the background and you're seeing the
- 20:54Speaker 4: tape from the press boxes.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Run for an eight great kill these so like the
- 21:02Speaker 3: end of the year banquet when like your I don't
- 21:03Speaker 3: know about you guys, Like we had like a school
- 21:06Speaker 3: like TV productions class that would make like a year
- 21:09Speaker 3: highlight film that was like the season recapah, and you
- 21:12Speaker 3: were just like at the bank and you're like, just
- 21:14Speaker 3: you know, the cheerleaders are there, the parents are there,
- 21:16Speaker 3: the freshman. You're like, I hope they put on all
- 21:18Speaker 3: my good plays and then they put on your good
- 21:20Speaker 3: plays and you're kind of looking around and he's like,
- 21:21Speaker 3: he's like that you think that was.
- 21:27Speaker 2: In my mind?
- 21:27Speaker 3: I'm like the only thing anyone in here is thinking
- 21:30Speaker 3: about is that guy number four the main Yeah, my
- 21:34Speaker 3: shoulder pads were bigger in high school. You could probably
- 21:37Speaker 3: find it. My shoulder pads in high school were bigger
- 21:39Speaker 3: than my shoulder pads in the NFL. And it's not
- 21:43Speaker 3: even that's for most guys. I had to be Yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 3: you can't even I mean, I mean, like, what is
- 21:49Speaker 3: that that's unit A Look at that guy, the little mask,
- 21:56Speaker 3: the little tu bar.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I mean, that's a that's an offensive lineman face mask.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I've ever saw one.
- 22:00Speaker 4: What is that bust a wedge?
- 22:04Speaker 1: This photo is sleeves.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it was practice. That was our practice uniforms. Okay,
- 22:11Speaker 3: so yeah, I wouldn't warn sleeves in the game, but
- 22:13Speaker 3: that was definitely practice no mouthpiece in looks like we're
- 22:15Speaker 3: practicing kickoff return.
- 22:17Speaker 4: What was your Yeah, you're a.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Lot of stars. I don't know about if you guys
- 22:24Speaker 3: noticed the stars is that that's that's me and my dad.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Go go to the left. That's me and my dad.
- 22:30Speaker 3: After we won our first state championship. That's my senior year,
- 22:35Speaker 3: big first one we had lost. He had lost seven.
- 22:39Speaker 3: No way, finally won my seven state titles. My older
- 22:42Speaker 3: brother Chris, who was one grade ahead of me, freshman, sophomore, junior,
- 22:45Speaker 3: senior year, he played in four state championships. They lost
- 22:47Speaker 3: all four of them.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 22:50Speaker 3: My dad had won state championships at his previous school,
- 22:54Speaker 3: but that was his first state championship at our school.
- 22:57Speaker 3: That was my younger brother. He played. He played quarterback
- 23:00Speaker 3: at Miami. He was nasty. Both my brothers were quarterbacks
- 23:04Speaker 3: and uh I got the tight end ging Fuck, that
- 23:08Speaker 3: is awesome.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Your dad was your dad one of those guys where
- 23:10Speaker 1: you're always searching for the proud of you comment? Or
- 23:13Speaker 1: was he was? He pretty vocal emotionally with you.
- 23:18Speaker 3: No, he's he was pretty quick to tell us he
- 23:20Speaker 3: knew we were good. His balance was immediately after the game,
- 23:25Speaker 3: We're gonna focus on all the things you didn't do well,
- 23:29Speaker 3: and then like an hour or two later, it was
- 23:32Speaker 3: gonna be like, you guys are pretty good. Like you guys,
- 23:34Speaker 3: would you guys played your ass off like so he
- 23:37Speaker 3: was going to coach first and fix all the mistakes.
- 23:40Speaker 3: You you want to hear a great story about my dad.
- 23:42Speaker 3: This sums up my dad. So twenty sixteen, we have
- 23:47Speaker 3: Monday Night football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cam had
- 23:51Speaker 3: gotten hurt the previous week. So Derek Anderson's the quarterback.
- 23:54Speaker 3: If Derek Anderson played quarterback, he was gonna throw every
- 23:57Speaker 3: single pass of the game to me Like that was
- 24:00Speaker 3: it was just understood. It was the best I got
- 24:03Speaker 3: him for, however, six quarters of my life, and he
- 24:07Speaker 3: would throw every ball to me. So we go to
- 24:09Speaker 3: Monday Night football. There's my dad right there. We go
- 24:11Speaker 3: to Monday Night football. I have one hundred and eighty
- 24:14Speaker 3: five yards on Monday Night Football. We lost, but I
- 24:18Speaker 3: had one hundred and eighty something yards. We walked into
- 24:23Speaker 3: like the little family section in the lobby outside inside
- 24:25Speaker 3: the stadium, Like you know, I say to my wife
- 24:27Speaker 3: and my kids and my mom and Dad and everybody,
- 24:30Speaker 3: And in the late in the in the mid of
- 24:32Speaker 3: the fourth quarter, we ran like a like a corner
- 24:34Speaker 3: route to the boundary and it was a good ball
- 24:37Speaker 3: and it was one of those like catch and the
- 24:40Speaker 3: guy kind of rakes you like I got turned inside.
- 24:43Speaker 3: He was on my back and I got turned inside,
- 24:45Speaker 3: which like made my chest to the defender. Caught it
- 24:48Speaker 3: and as I was going to the ground, he kind
- 24:51Speaker 3: of raked me, like raked the ball down. Yeah, and
- 24:53Speaker 3: I lost it. It was incomplete on third down, so
- 24:56Speaker 3: we punt. We end up losing. The game was a
- 24:59Speaker 3: close on hun in eighty one. Yeah, seventeen fourteen targets,
- 25:04Speaker 3: thirteen targets. So I walk in, you know, that's the
- 25:09Speaker 3: best game I've ever had in my life. Dad gives
- 25:11Speaker 3: me a hug, say, hey, what happened on that third
- 25:13Speaker 3: down in the fourth quarter. I was like, I probably
- 25:17Speaker 3: should have caught it, yeah, you know what I mean, Like,
- 25:20Speaker 3: and he wasn't saying it. He was not the guy
- 25:22Speaker 3: that was like dogging like he said it sincerely, but
- 25:26Speaker 3: like that's just how we grew up. Like, and I
- 25:28Speaker 3: was like, yeah, like I probably should have caught it,
- 25:30Speaker 3: Like that probably would have helped. We would converted on
- 25:32Speaker 3: third down and who knows that we would have scored,
- 25:34Speaker 3: But like I get it, Like, yeah, I should have
- 25:37Speaker 3: caught it. Like that was it? Like our the standards
- 25:40Speaker 3: were super high and that's all we knew.
- 25:45Speaker 4: You've been that you being the head man of the
- 25:46Speaker 4: middle school team. What what are practice like in middle school?
- 25:49Speaker 3: I got a great You had my defensive coordinator on
- 25:52Speaker 3: the bus a couple of weeks.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Yeahukey, you have my staff.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Just my staff is me, my dad, Jonathan Stewart, Luke,
- 26:02Speaker 3: and Todd black Ledge. You guys know Todd. He calls
- 26:04Speaker 3: games at NBC quarterback in Penn State.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Your dad's on the staff.
- 26:07Speaker 3: My dad. My dad's been doing it with me for
- 26:10Speaker 3: this is our.
- 26:12Speaker 4: These Yeah.
- 26:13Speaker 3: So we did two years of Pop Warner and now
- 26:15Speaker 3: this is our second year at the middle school. So
- 26:17Speaker 3: this is our fourth year doing it. Me and my
- 26:18Speaker 3: dad and Luke have done it. There's a picture of us.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Me and my dad and Luke have done it together
- 26:23Speaker 3: for four years. Stu just joined us because his kids
- 26:26Speaker 3: go to school with us.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Spotting him out, You're like, hey, yeah, student, let's move
- 26:31Speaker 4: it down.
- 26:31Speaker 3: He needs something to do. Yeah, his daughters are little,
- 26:34Speaker 3: but uh yeah, man, So we have a blast and
- 26:37Speaker 3: uh we run real practices. Though we're fortunate that we
- 26:40Speaker 3: have a big staff for middle school, five guys. We
- 26:42Speaker 3: sometimes have a six. Like six guys on a coaching
- 26:45Speaker 3: staff in middle school is like one hundred. So we're
- 26:48Speaker 3: doing individual team takeoff, individual offense, defense, like we can
- 26:53Speaker 3: really spread everybody out, do a ton of individual work.
- 26:55Speaker 3: There was us last year getting ready under the lights
- 26:57Speaker 3: at our school. That was sick. Oh dude. We do
- 27:01Speaker 3: pregame meal everything. So me and Luke are riding on
- 27:06Speaker 3: the bus taking the boys to the game. So it's
- 27:09Speaker 3: just me, Luke and just like thirty forty middle school
- 27:13Speaker 3: boys taping their fingers now it's like wrist tape up
- 27:17Speaker 3: to their elbows. They got they're putting eye but you
- 27:19Speaker 3: know it's.
- 27:19Speaker 2: The whole strokes in the background.
- 27:21Speaker 3: You're strokes on the back. Still thirty years later, you
- 27:24Speaker 3: only complain.
- 27:26Speaker 2: All those Are you fucking respect this song?
- 27:30Speaker 3: Me and Luke are up there bashing.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Someone's like compl are like, yeah.
- 27:35Speaker 3: For some reason, you weren't allowed to talk on the bus, dude,
- 27:39Speaker 3: is that wild? It was dead quiet? And then there
- 27:42Speaker 3: was like that one assistant, hard ass coach. Someone would
- 27:45Speaker 3: like sneeze, we focus on the game. It's like, yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 3: why is it.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Yelling at me like you cannot right.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Yeah, the school buses, the yellow school busses line up,
- 27:56Speaker 1: You get in, you sit in the back and snicker
- 27:58Speaker 1: for a little bit. Alts won't coach be.
- 27:59Speaker 4: Like, hey, we focused today, Please tell me, Please tell
- 28:03Speaker 4: me you just take the buses for just the moment
- 28:05Speaker 4: leading up to the game. And you're like, hey, we're
- 28:07Speaker 4: not taking any time. Make sure your tape. Makes sure
- 28:09Speaker 4: you're ready to go. We're getting off this bus and
- 28:11Speaker 4: we're whooping some ass. Yeah, we're taped. We're taped before
- 28:13Speaker 4: we get there.
- 28:14Speaker 3: And then we and then it's shoulder pads and helmets
- 28:17Speaker 3: on on the bus and we're walking off down the stairs.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Oh shit, we're walking off the stairss. There's no locker rooms.
- 28:23Speaker 1: There's nowhere to go. But you don't just put the
- 28:25Speaker 1: shoulder pads under the little storage area.
- 28:27Speaker 3: No, no, there, we carry them on. Yeah, putting them on.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Take care of your wife, footed up, put your cleats on.
- 28:31Speaker 3: We are walking off the bus, locked and loaded. So
- 28:37Speaker 3: last year, Luke and I are on the bus with
- 28:39Speaker 3: the boys, and we're going to one of our away games,
- 28:42Speaker 3: and Luke's like taking attendance, like making sure we because
- 28:45Speaker 3: it's just the two of us, the bus driver and
- 28:47Speaker 3: we're responsible for all these kids. And he's doing attendance
- 28:51Speaker 3: and I'm talking to the offensive defensive line about, you know,
- 28:54Speaker 3: our combo rules and first play of the game is
- 28:56Speaker 3: going to be whatever, and let's get off to a
- 28:58Speaker 3: good start. And you know, twenty minutes later, Luke's like,
- 29:02Speaker 3: hey man, we got a problem because I'm looking back
- 29:05Speaker 3: at the boys talking to the kids. He's like, we're
- 29:07Speaker 3: back at school, Like what are you talking about. He's like,
- 29:10Speaker 3: the bus driver just went completely in a full circle
- 29:13Speaker 3: and we're back where we started. We end up being
- 29:15Speaker 3: thirty minutes late to our game. Me and Luke are sweating.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Parents are texting us where are the kids? They're waiting
- 29:21Speaker 3: for us, and Luke and I keep coming in late
- 29:24Speaker 3: with the boys because the bus driver got lost.
- 29:27Speaker 2: He got lost in his joe back.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Yeah, none of us were talking, none of us were
- 29:30Speaker 3: paying attention because we're all doing a million things and
- 29:33Speaker 3: we did a full circle and we're back at school.
- 29:36Speaker 4: He's just thinking, I don't know whereins just gonna drove back.
- 29:38Speaker 1: You think he'd look back at one point, but like
- 29:40Speaker 1: also got address twivet your phone.
- 29:45Speaker 3: It was and plug it in. Yeah it was. Uh,
- 29:48Speaker 3: it was close to the best. Like that's the best
- 29:50Speaker 3: part of all of it.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean those kids have no idea how good
- 29:54Speaker 1: they happened.
- 29:55Speaker 4: Right so far, You guys went seven and one.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Last we lost the first game of the season to
- 29:58Speaker 3: a good team. We lost the first game of the season,
- 30:02Speaker 3: and then we rattled.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Off and then you did look back.
- 30:04Speaker 3: No, we we got better as the year went on.
- 30:08Speaker 3: You only had like thirty kids on the team last year.
- 30:10Speaker 3: We got like fifty something this year. All right, the
- 30:12Speaker 3: energy is building. But we had a really good group
- 30:15Speaker 3: of eighth graders. They just hadn't played a lot of
- 30:16Speaker 3: football before, like a lot of first time kids. We're
- 30:19Speaker 3: teaching kids how to put helmets on, how to buckle
- 30:21Speaker 3: chin straps, how to put you know, how do you
- 30:24Speaker 3: do the clip on your shoulder pad? Like we part
- 30:26Speaker 3: of our practice was like that. Like we we had
- 30:29Speaker 3: a lot of kids, they just they didn't know what
- 30:31Speaker 3: they didn't know.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Yeah, understanding how to get dressed is something that nobody
- 30:34Speaker 1: ever talks to you about I played one year. I
- 30:36Speaker 1: played Papa when I was a corner third grade nice
- 30:39Speaker 1: and I didn't play again until my freshman year. But
- 30:40Speaker 1: I remember going to my freshman locker room. All the
- 30:43Speaker 1: kids are like getting dressed and I'm watching them. Okay,
- 30:45Speaker 1: I guess that's a hip pad. I'll put that on
- 30:47Speaker 1: my Oh yeah, I had like I was like watching
- 30:48Speaker 1: the kids on.
- 30:49Speaker 3: The last It used to be to put the pads
- 30:51Speaker 3: in your.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Pants, and then you get to college and you find
- 30:56Speaker 1: the shorts that have them built in, and you might
- 30:59Speaker 1: be a little bit for that. You might have been
- 31:00Speaker 1: playing in college with them. Things were girdles with our
- 31:04Speaker 1: hip in our butt pad and then our pants.
- 31:07Speaker 3: We would put the thigh pads in our pants. Yes,
- 31:10Speaker 3: that's what we used to do. Now all of the
- 31:13Speaker 3: pads are all built into the girdle, so they put
- 31:17Speaker 3: on it. They pull up a girdle thigh hip but
- 31:19Speaker 3: all that and then they just put knee pads in
- 31:22Speaker 3: their pants and that's what the kids wear now. So
- 31:23Speaker 3: it's actually pretty easy, isn't it wild?
- 31:25Speaker 4: That?
- 31:25Speaker 1: Like when you're in high school, it's how big can
- 31:28Speaker 1: I look?
- 31:28Speaker 4: Like?
- 31:29Speaker 1: How like the biggest thigh pad the biggest pads. But
- 31:32Speaker 1: the older you get, it's like, how tiny can I
- 31:34Speaker 1: make these pads just because so I can be bigger.
- 31:37Speaker 1: It's it's crazy how much changes.
- 31:39Speaker 3: It's it's so true. It's the best. Though there's nothing
- 31:43Speaker 3: to do.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Tell me there are any moments you still get a
- 31:46Speaker 4: little bull in the ring in we don't Oklahoma drills.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll tell you. It's a good question.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Though.
- 31:53Speaker 3: We don't do bowl in the ring.
- 31:54Speaker 4: We can't.
- 31:54Speaker 3: We don't do Oklahoma eye opener. You remember eye opener.
- 31:58Speaker 3: We're like one guy would go sideway and you would
- 32:00Speaker 3: shuffle and it was cones and I'd pick a lane
- 32:04Speaker 3: and we'd go yeah, and like you're standing in the back.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Never did that, but like the ball carrier would run sideways.
- 32:10Speaker 3: You would shuffle, pick the hole and then once I
- 32:12Speaker 3: picked a hole, you're going, I would go through. So
- 32:14Speaker 3: we did that growing up. And you'd be in the
- 32:16Speaker 3: line and you're like two three four, and you're like
- 32:19Speaker 3: letting the kid go in front of you. He's like
- 32:21Speaker 3: the badass kid on your team is the fourth and
- 32:23Speaker 3: you're like two three ship, I'm four. I'm not going
- 32:25Speaker 3: with Taylor, all right, Will's you know what I mean,
- 32:28Speaker 3: like you're doing the math in your head, like there
- 32:30Speaker 3: was a like you learned a lot of ship at
- 32:33Speaker 3: football practice when we were growing up, Like that was
- 32:36Speaker 3: your mom and dads.
- 32:38Speaker 4: You were.
- 32:38Speaker 3: And if that coach he didn't give two ships, he
- 32:40Speaker 3: could have run you until you died, Like no one cared. Yeah,
- 32:44Speaker 3: we we can't. We can't do that anymore.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Parents are there.
- 32:48Speaker 3: I'm not worried about the parents.
- 32:50Speaker 4: Pursuit drill where you know we do. You got a
- 32:52Speaker 4: runner going, you got low pursuit, you got high pursuit.
- 32:54Speaker 4: It's like two on one.
- 32:55Speaker 3: We do a lot of We do a ton of
- 32:57Speaker 3: pursuit drill. We had a kid actually break his nose
- 32:59Speaker 3: bumping in first practice last week in the summer. No pads,
- 33:03Speaker 3: but we just tag off and we teach in and
- 33:05Speaker 3: out out set and edges. You know, who are inside
- 33:08Speaker 3: hit man, who are our forced perimeter players, Like get
- 33:10Speaker 3: them run into the ball. We do d line. They
- 33:13Speaker 3: go through their little station and then run to the ball.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Second level secondary backside guy run corner. Like that's our
- 33:19Speaker 3: first drill we do on defensive day. But we just
- 33:23Speaker 3: tag off. We we do a lot of teaching progressions
- 33:27Speaker 3: of tackling, striking. We always talk like we're gonna hit
- 33:31Speaker 3: guys with the screws of our helmet, Like the helmets
- 33:33Speaker 3: don't have screws anymore, but like that's how we learned it.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Like you hit the guy with the screws of your
- 33:36Speaker 3: face mask, face up. So like we do a lot
- 33:39Speaker 3: of that all summer. We do controlled contact in practice,
- 33:44Speaker 3: like we do a ton of like two on one
- 33:46Speaker 3: combo blocks. We call them bazookas, like a ton of
- 33:48Speaker 3: hip to hip bazuka like combo taking on strikes. We
- 33:52Speaker 3: don't go to the ground. We don't like just keep
- 33:54Speaker 3: it thud. We keep it thud. You teach football, we
- 33:57Speaker 3: keep it thud. And then in the game obviously we
- 34:01Speaker 3: our goal with the kids, and we don't shy away
- 34:03Speaker 3: from this, like are We tell the kids all the time,
- 34:07Speaker 3: we're gonna fix You're gonna take the wrong foot, you're
- 34:08Speaker 3: gonna have a backside cutoff, and you're gonna cross over,
- 34:11Speaker 3: and your stance. We're gonna have to fix your all.
- 34:13Speaker 3: That will coach when you come play our team, our
- 34:17Speaker 3: goal is when you're sitting in the stands on the
- 34:19Speaker 3: other team, it's like I'm not sure if I want
- 34:22Speaker 3: my kid out there. This is fast, it's violent. They're
- 34:25Speaker 3: playing to the ball, and I'm talking within the confines.
- 34:29Speaker 3: We don't like no dirty stuff, Like we don't tea.
- 34:31Speaker 3: We have no patience in tolerance for any of the
- 34:34Speaker 3: extra stuff. We finished though, but we are playing. We
- 34:37Speaker 3: always say to the kids, we're playing real football.
- 34:38Speaker 4: We're here to take a mother.
- 34:42Speaker 1: We're dirty, but we're taking that light.
- 34:44Speaker 3: No, we never We're not hitting people low. We're not
- 34:46Speaker 3: teaching people to hit them in the legs. Like we
- 34:48Speaker 3: have the high school rules. You're not allowed, like there's
- 34:50Speaker 3: no chop blocking, there's no cut blocking, like everything's above
- 34:53Speaker 3: the ways. So kids are protecting in that regard. But
- 34:56Speaker 3: like we don't strike with our helmets, we don't strike
- 34:58Speaker 3: with the top, but we do strike with our face masks,
- 35:01Speaker 3: and we do block with our face. Our hands are
- 35:03Speaker 3: behind my hands, my face is behind my hands, and
- 35:05Speaker 3: I'm striking coming off the ball. I mean, we're we're
- 35:09Speaker 3: playing real football, like our job. And a year two
- 35:11Speaker 3: these kids a gonna be playing high school ball and
- 35:12Speaker 3: we play in a very competitive league. We got real dudes. O.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Our running back just committed to Nebraska. Are Charlotte Christian
- 35:20Speaker 3: High School, Okay K through twelve school. Yeah, so our
- 35:24Speaker 3: high school, uprising senior running back Jamal Rule, just two
- 35:27Speaker 3: days ago committed to Nebraska.
- 35:29Speaker 4: Go, you're the school.
- 35:31Speaker 1: You're coaching at is K through twelve. So there's a
- 35:34Speaker 1: high school coaching staff that is watching Greg Olsen and
- 35:38Speaker 1: Louke Keithley.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Coaching middle schoolers. We're on that.
- 35:41Speaker 3: We share the field.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know the high school kids are like, well,
- 35:45Speaker 1: why the fuck aren't they coaching us?
- 35:47Speaker 3: We haven't And I'm not just saying that.
- 35:49Speaker 1: High schools are running practice, like yeah, hey, do you
- 35:51Speaker 1: mind if we go over there?
- 35:53Speaker 4: Said?
- 35:53Speaker 2: No bowl in the ring, that's what the fuck we're doing.
- 35:55Speaker 3: No that he does a really good job. Christ James
- 35:57Speaker 3: Charlotte Christian is a school. He does a real, really
- 36:00Speaker 3: good job. We have a We're not a big school.
- 36:02Speaker 3: We got one hundred and fifty boys in a grade
- 36:04Speaker 3: one hundred total kids, so we're not going to roll
- 36:06Speaker 3: out there with seventy five kids on a Friday night
- 36:08Speaker 3: in uniform. So it's a smaller group. But we got
- 36:11Speaker 3: college bound kids. We sent two kids in Notre Dame
- 36:13Speaker 3: last year, Bryant Young's kid, Bryce defensive end at Notre
- 36:16Speaker 3: Dame six' eight monster wide receiver At Notre. Dame both
- 36:20Speaker 3: in the same, Class. Micah they played in The National
- 36:22Speaker 3: championship last year as. FRESHMEN i, mean we got we
- 36:25Speaker 3: put some real dudes into the, league into the into the.
- 36:28Speaker 3: College we just don't have a million of them because
- 36:30Speaker 3: it's just a small. School.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Yeah, well when you're talking about doing, thud not taking
- 36:34Speaker 1: guys to the, ground what's the anxiety level for you
- 36:37Speaker 1: on tacking? Quality tackling quality the first game of the.
- 36:40Speaker 4: YEAR.
- 36:42Speaker 3: I want to see us play, violent like we are
- 36:45Speaker 3: going to teach we are going to run you might
- 36:46Speaker 3: With we might got to teach keeping our head up
- 36:50Speaker 3: and striking. Backside and we're big on like we set
- 36:53Speaker 3: firm edges like every one of our.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Practices we are.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Setting hard edges our, inside our inside, backers like our
- 36:59Speaker 3: running chase, guys like some of our better, Players like
- 37:02Speaker 3: we're all inside out hit. Men we don't overrun the
- 37:05Speaker 3: ball if the ball gets outside the numbers on a
- 37:07Speaker 3: high school, field like somebody really screwed. Up everything we
- 37:10Speaker 3: do is perimeter. Edges squeeze this, field and we're gonna
- 37:13Speaker 3: make them play as tight as they can and when
- 37:16Speaker 3: that ball hits, vertical we are we are coming in
- 37:19Speaker 3: hot like we are coming in striking inside hips and
- 37:23Speaker 3: running through so we'll. Overrun we'll have bad pre snap,
- 37:26Speaker 3: technique we'll have false. Steps our lineman won't get off
- 37:30Speaker 3: on the. Ball we'll jump off sides like that. Normal
- 37:32Speaker 3: even they're, thirteen they're. Young that stuff will happen all season.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Long we don't teach running full speed to the. Ball
- 37:39Speaker 3: we are not coaching. That like if you do not
- 37:41Speaker 3: run full speed to the ball and you do not,
- 37:43Speaker 3: chase and you're not gonna play, like that's. It and
- 37:48Speaker 3: we always tell the kids this is not a big
- 37:50Speaker 3: versus Little we have little kids who. Play we have
- 37:53Speaker 3: big kids who don't. Play we have fast, kids slow.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Kids we got kids of all shapes and. Sizes we
- 37:59Speaker 3: don't care how how good you are or whether you've
- 38:01Speaker 3: ever put a helmet on. Before that is not a.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Requirement we don't. Cut we had zero kids quit last.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Year the roster we started with in summer was the
- 38:08Speaker 3: roster we ended. With if you show up every day
- 38:11Speaker 3: willing to be coached and willing to learn and do
- 38:14Speaker 3: things to the best of your, ability we will find
- 38:16Speaker 3: something for you to. Do you might not be the running,
- 38:19Speaker 3: back but you might not be the running. Back put old,
- 38:24Speaker 3: team we take, it you'd, play you, think SO i
- 38:26Speaker 3: can find a job for you right. Now but, yeah
- 38:30Speaker 3: and when we you, know we do we demo. Drills it's,
- 38:32Speaker 3: like all, Right, Stu, stu you're the. Back show these
- 38:34Speaker 3: guys the path of how we want to get to the.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Edge all, Right, luke he's going through the. Bag he's
- 38:39Speaker 3: teaching inside, out, downhill never overrun inside hip. TRAIL i
- 38:43Speaker 3: mean Like luke is demonstrating And stu's running with the,
- 38:46Speaker 3: ball AND i just get to stand there and orchestrate
- 38:48Speaker 3: like it's that's pretty.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Cool so that's your that's clearly your day one opening
- 38:52Speaker 4: speech is the full? Squad you keep the full squad.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Intact what is The Greg olson halftime?
- 38:57Speaker 3: Speech depends what the score of the game. Is so
- 38:59Speaker 3: you're so you're down. Seven you shouldn't be down. Seven
- 39:02Speaker 3: we shouldn't be down so so so halftime is not
- 39:07Speaker 3: finished into the. Football we have no patience for that.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Ship so So i'll tell, You i'll tell you what
- 39:14Speaker 3: halftime looks like for. Us there's no locker, rooms, right
- 39:18Speaker 3: it's it's grab the, water you, know one of the
- 39:20Speaker 3: young seventh graders grab the. Water little carrier thing you,
- 39:23Speaker 3: know has like the six sections of the. Water, yeah
- 39:25Speaker 3: bring it over to the, bench take your helmets, off sit,
- 39:28Speaker 3: down catch your. Breath we'll get them. TOGETHER i coach
- 39:31Speaker 3: THE o line AND d Line like that's my. JAM
- 39:33Speaker 3: i spend every, day every minute with THE o LINE d.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Line we alternate offense defense, days back and. Forth are
- 39:40Speaker 3: most of our good kids played both? Ways just because
- 39:43Speaker 3: we don't have enough? Kids but, yeah it's offensive.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Line where are?
- 39:47Speaker 3: Corrections is the front we practiced all? Week is the front?
- 39:50Speaker 3: Different are we coming off the? Ball are we? Finishing
- 39:53Speaker 3: and we get you, know all just offensive line driven.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Stuff but then we take like a four and a
- 39:57Speaker 3: half minute break because my daughter is on the cheerleading,
- 39:59Speaker 3: team so we make all the boys stop and they
- 40:02Speaker 3: got to watch the girls. Dance so they come out
- 40:04Speaker 3: and they do like their halftime. Routine so Like i'm
- 40:07Speaker 3: on all over these middle school kids and we're coaching
- 40:09Speaker 3: our ass off and then it's like, stop and Then
- 40:11Speaker 3: i'm like dance, mom you, know like dance mom Watching.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Talbot good, job, Honey why are the why we gotta
- 40:19Speaker 3: get furmer in our double teams and who's the. Left,
- 40:22Speaker 3: hey we gotta set this edge that, ball you. Know
- 40:25Speaker 3: and then you go back to like wearing and the
- 40:26Speaker 3: girls are like running off with their pomp poms And i'm,
- 40:29Speaker 3: like good, job, honey you did so. Good and then
- 40:31Speaker 3: you're just like back wearing the kids. Out so it's
- 40:33Speaker 3: it's a it's a mix of. Both like we tell
- 40:35Speaker 3: the kids all the, time and we tell the, parents
- 40:39Speaker 3: we no one is gonna love your kids more than,
- 40:41Speaker 3: Us no one wants to see your kids have more
- 40:44Speaker 3: success than. Us but we are going to coach the
- 40:46Speaker 3: shit out of your, kid but we are gonna get
- 40:50Speaker 3: to the point where they trust us and they know
- 40:52Speaker 3: we love them and they know we want to pour
- 40:54Speaker 3: into them with everything we. Have before you coach the
- 40:57Speaker 3: shit out of, them you gotta get to that level,
- 40:59Speaker 3: first because if, not it just feels like you're attacking.
- 41:01Speaker 3: Them and for these middle school, kids it's a different
- 41:04Speaker 3: day and age, Now like they're not used to being yelled,
- 41:06Speaker 3: at they're not used to being. Coach so like we
- 41:08Speaker 3: got to make sure like we're not yelling at you
- 41:10Speaker 3: because we don't like. You we're talking. Loud it's. Football it's.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Intense you're across the, field like we're not gonna stand
- 41:16Speaker 3: here And i'm not gonna signal into, you like we're
- 41:18Speaker 3: not playing, baseball, Right like IF i need to get
- 41:21Speaker 3: a hold of the corner on the far side of the,
- 41:22Speaker 3: field Like i'm gonna scream across the stadium and everyone
- 41:25Speaker 3: in the stadium is gonna hear. Me but if he
- 41:26Speaker 3: needs to be inside leverage because he's on a backside one, Receiver,
- 41:30Speaker 3: like move your ass inside and you give up a,
- 41:33Speaker 3: slant we're gonna be.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Pissed, yeah, right like we're gonna be praying for that
- 41:38Speaker 1: cheerleading break at. Halftime, yeah, hey, COACH i think they're
- 41:44Speaker 1: coming out.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Early that's. Great we'll work on the. Slant we'll work
- 41:47Speaker 2: on the slant a.
- 41:48Speaker 3: Little he gives up a, touchdown he's like cheerleading, coaches,
- 41:50Speaker 3: LIKE i will give you anything for this dance to
- 41:53Speaker 3: go the Entire, yeah.
- 41:56Speaker 1: The coach in the corner.
- 41:58Speaker 4: Crazy how different it just as like us growing up
- 42:01Speaker 4: in the. Drills we would be doing compared to everything
- 42:03Speaker 4: that you seem to be teaching with the squad, now
- 42:06Speaker 4: like bulling the, ring we played, duck dug, goose you'd
- 42:11Speaker 4: beholding the. Ball you beholding the, ball and you'd be
- 42:14Speaker 4: going around the. Squad this is when we're, like like
- 42:17Speaker 4: you tag and they you take, off. Sprint old buddy gets,
- 42:21Speaker 4: up sprints the other way and you just.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Collide, Me you just.
- 42:24Speaker 4: COLLIDE i feel so.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Bad and because you know he's getting picked like seven, times.
- 42:29Speaker 3: That kid's going home that. Night he's, tired he's, quitting he's.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Done that's.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Why that's how you don't laugh with the same roster
- 42:34Speaker 1: at the end of the.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Year there's a lot of basketball players made it football.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Practice no doubt about.
- 42:39Speaker 4: It you know.
- 42:39Speaker 3: What the gym's air. Conditioned COULD i didn't play, much
- 42:42Speaker 3: but like no one ran through my? Skull, yeah, exactly,
- 42:45Speaker 3: GOOD i get.
- 42:46Speaker 1: It you talked about the, Parents are you, like no
- 42:48Speaker 1: one's gonna love your kids more than we love your.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Kids they're gonna trust. Us you've had to have run
- 42:52Speaker 1: across the cariner.
- 42:53Speaker 4: Two, yeah and your.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Time how we handling.
- 42:56Speaker 3: That our APPROACHES i over community and maybe to a.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Fault SOMETIMES i don't do the regardless of the, sport,
- 43:04Speaker 3: Right so you think growing up in, baseball after the,
- 43:07Speaker 3: game the coach takes the team out in deep left
- 43:10Speaker 3: field and it's just the coach and the. Kids and
- 43:12Speaker 3: then you get in the car with your kid and you're, like,
- 43:13Speaker 3: hey what coach. Say it's like they're, twelve they don't
- 43:18Speaker 3: know what just happened five seconds. Ago let alone relay
- 43:21Speaker 3: an adults message good or, bad and relay it so,
- 43:23Speaker 3: LIKE i never want the parents to be dependent on
- 43:27Speaker 3: the kids to know What i'm saying to their. Kids
- 43:30Speaker 3: so we do our post game stuff right there behind the.
- 43:33Speaker 3: DUGOUT i want everyone to. COME i want people to
- 43:35Speaker 3: come to our. PRACTICE i want parents to sit in the.
- 43:38Speaker 3: STANDS i want people to know what we're saying to your.
- 43:41Speaker 3: Kid we would say in front of, you like there's
- 43:44Speaker 3: no secrets. Here there's No i'm going to tell your
- 43:47Speaker 3: kid one, thing but Then i'm going to say something
- 43:49Speaker 3: else to the. Parent like we are very transparent in
- 43:51Speaker 3: what we, do how we. Coach we don't apologize for.
- 43:54Speaker 3: It like we are going to pour in so much
- 43:57Speaker 3: of our time and energy into your kids because we like.
- 44:00Speaker 3: It if you have a, problem not everyone's gonna like
- 44:04Speaker 3: what we. Do you might not like the position your kid,
- 44:06Speaker 3: plays or how much he, plays or as they get,
- 44:09Speaker 3: older obviously playing time is a little bit. Different at
- 44:12Speaker 3: the young, age everybody plays like we, don't like we
- 44:15Speaker 3: were not in the business to play eight kids and
- 44:17Speaker 3: five of them stand on the, sideline you, know sitting the.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Dugout so we get everyone involved to the best of
- 44:22Speaker 3: our ability and give everybody a. Role i'm very clear
- 44:25Speaker 3: that if a parent wants to call me and he
- 44:27Speaker 3: wants to talk through, LIKE i have no problem with.
- 44:29Speaker 3: That you're the. Parent they're too young to remove the
- 44:33Speaker 3: parent from the. Process, now IF i was their high
- 44:35Speaker 3: school coach, College i'm not going to answer to your
- 44:38Speaker 3: mom about what we're. Doing like that's just not the.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Business but at the young, age you have to engage the.
- 44:43Speaker 3: FAMILIES i want my kids coaches to communicate with. Me
- 44:47Speaker 3: where does my kid need to get, better where's he falling,
- 44:49Speaker 3: short where's he doing? Well what's his? Role? LIKE i
- 44:51Speaker 3: would love to know, that because WHEN i ask my,
- 44:53Speaker 3: kid they don't, know so like there's a miscommunicat there's
- 44:57Speaker 3: a communication barrier. There SO i have no problem with
- 45:00Speaker 3: with our families being super. Engaged be around our, practices ask,
- 45:03Speaker 3: questions see how we, coach see what we. DO i encourage.
- 45:06Speaker 3: IT i like. IT i don't want any. Secrets but
- 45:09Speaker 3: if you ask me a, question just be prepared for the.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Answer that's, it and that's that's the simplest way to do.
- 45:17Speaker 3: It and we've been, very very fortunate that for the
- 45:21Speaker 3: years we've been doing this in all different sports and
- 45:23Speaker 3: different girls boys, ages we've had really good, families like
- 45:28Speaker 3: people THAT i think in the beginning are kind of
- 45:30Speaker 3: this is a lot like, this and then after it
- 45:34Speaker 3: clicks and they see the sparkle off in their kids
- 45:35Speaker 3: eye and all of a, sudden the kids doing things
- 45:37Speaker 3: they didn't think were. Possible it's, Like, okay just go keep.
- 45:41Speaker 3: Going because the kids that's coming home to me after
- 45:44Speaker 3: each day is a better version of my kid THAN
- 45:47Speaker 3: i had when we. Started that's our. Goal, yeah and
- 45:49Speaker 3: whether they're a better football player or, not that'd be,
- 45:52Speaker 3: Great but like, confidence, character how they care, themselves like
- 45:57Speaker 3: our families will tell. Us like for these summer workouts
- 45:59Speaker 3: we started Aaa, Tuesday, Wednesday thursdays all summer, long eight
- 46:02Speaker 3: am at the. Field these kids are up seven o'clock
- 46:05Speaker 3: in the summer up, downstairs breakfast made cleats. On come, on,
- 46:09Speaker 3: mom we gotta. GO i can't be late to practice
- 46:12Speaker 3: if we only accomplish. That we're doing a great job
- 46:15Speaker 3: in middle school.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Football amend that's all with. That were looking at eight
- 46:21Speaker 4: no this.
- 46:21Speaker 3: Year, Yeah i'm going on the record.
- 46:26Speaker 4: This is.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Okay breaking with the.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Boys where our goals to win every game we.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Play you're not worried at all about the other eight
- 46:36Speaker 4: teams that might just.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Go we have good. Teams there's good teams in our.
- 46:41Speaker 4: League you want to know you're. Coming we'll be. Ready.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Yeah you ever watched across the field you see one
- 46:45Speaker 1: of those boys that are maybe a little more developed
- 46:47Speaker 1: on the other, team.
- 46:48Speaker 3: And you.
- 46:51Speaker 4: Want to get you play? Linebacker you know who that?
- 46:56Speaker 1: Is what was the recruiting process like Getting luke on
- 47:00Speaker 1: your team to? Coach?
- 47:01Speaker 4: Easy?
- 47:01Speaker 3: FREE i give free. Pizza yeahs easy as it. Gets
- 47:06Speaker 3: we go free. Pizza the amount of Days luke AND
- 47:11Speaker 3: i sit at like we we have like Our monday.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Routine we go to lunch Every monday and we sit
- 47:17Speaker 3: there and it's like salt and pepper. Shakers all, right
- 47:19Speaker 3: they come out in two by two, Spread how are
- 47:22Speaker 3: we gonna how are.
- 47:22Speaker 4: We gonna get the?
- 47:22Speaker 3: Nickel and know which way he's gonna go because there's
- 47:24Speaker 3: no tight end all, Right, hey how are we gonna
- 47:26Speaker 3: make the big? Call how are we going to set the?
- 47:27Speaker 3: Front the kids only notice set the front to the
- 47:29Speaker 3: tight end. Side they're not gonna have a tight end this?
- 47:32Speaker 3: Week do we want to? Bat like we're sitting? There
- 47:34Speaker 3: the amount of time and energy we are spending on
- 47:37Speaker 3: third and hour thirteen and fourteen year old, FOOTBALL i
- 47:42Speaker 3: don't know If i'm proud of it or embarrassed By.
- 47:46Speaker 1: We gotta go out for a game this. Year we
- 47:48Speaker 1: need to go out for a game this year and blog.
- 47:50Speaker 4: It, yeah could we mike you?
- 47:51Speaker 3: Up, yeah.
- 47:54Speaker 4: That would be.
- 47:55Speaker 3: One it's A christian, School, okay so we we a
- 47:59Speaker 3: lot of?
- 47:59Speaker 2: Flips the flipp are we doing out?
- 48:01Speaker 4: There?
- 48:01Speaker 3: Gosh?
- 48:02Speaker 2: Dang, yeah Like jez And, rice, guys come.
- 48:04Speaker 3: On so we have to be. CAREFUL i remind my
- 48:07Speaker 3: dad a, Lot my, dad this is not nineteen ninety
- 48:10Speaker 3: public school In New, jersey WHERE i didn't no one
- 48:12Speaker 3: even no one, even no one even. Hurt and you
- 48:15Speaker 3: said it and it never even dawned on anyone that
- 48:17Speaker 3: you dropped AN f. Bomb we we got it.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Understood the demonstrative things that coaches would say to your,
- 48:22Speaker 1: face what do you think is the worst thing a
- 48:24Speaker 1: coach ever said to you growing.
- 48:25Speaker 3: UP i don't know if it was said my dad one.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Time remember rock them socking robots where you could punch
- 48:32Speaker 3: each other and then someone's head would pop, up and
- 48:34Speaker 3: that's how you'd. Win my dad one time he thought i'd.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Jump it was a, pregame walk through walk through high.
- 48:43Speaker 3: SCHOOL i was probably a sophomore. Junior we're just in, pants, cleats,
- 48:48Speaker 3: helmets no shoulder. Pads so you're out. There you got
- 48:50Speaker 3: your skin tight cut off. On it's. Cut, remember we'd
- 48:53Speaker 3: all like cut our shirts and like your, no, sir
- 48:56Speaker 3: we GOT i did you ten years.
- 48:59Speaker 4: You'd have like a but even if you didn't have a,
- 49:02Speaker 4: draft and you'd have like an old school cott and
- 49:05Speaker 4: raggedy cut.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Off so we'd only have that. On you thought you were.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Jacked you you saw my pictures, Speakers, yeah some of us.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Weren't we weren't juicing. Yet SO i get back to
- 49:17Speaker 3: the huddle and he THOUGHT i. Jogged hence it was
- 49:20Speaker 3: a walk through. Practice so my brother overthrows me ball
- 49:22Speaker 3: LANDS i come. Back we huddled with the lineman's back
- 49:26Speaker 3: to the line of, scrimmage and then the skill players
- 49:29Speaker 3: would stand in the front with their hands on their.
- 49:30Speaker 3: Knees quarterback would call the play facing the line of.
- 49:33Speaker 3: Scrimmage the lineman would call and. Go so he's standing
- 49:36Speaker 3: next to the quarterback facing, me And i'm facing out
- 49:38Speaker 3: with my back to the. Line AND i GUESS i
- 49:41Speaker 3: didn't answer. HIM i guess he didn't like my. ANSWER
- 49:44Speaker 3: i might have given like a smart ass answer about
- 49:46Speaker 3: something or and he upper cut in my face, mask
- 49:49Speaker 3: a buckled face, mask a buckle, chin buckled. Helmet he
- 49:52Speaker 3: punches my face mask and knocks my whole, helmet chin
- 49:56Speaker 3: strap and all completely rock, him sock, him robot in
- 50:00Speaker 3: me right off the top of my. Helmet SO i
- 50:02Speaker 3: put my helmet back on AND i ran the route
- 50:04Speaker 3: next time full, speed my. Dad so he was allowed
- 50:08Speaker 3: to do that in a jog through in pregame we
- 50:10Speaker 3: won the, game.
- 50:15Speaker 4: Conversation and pop up after the game or, Anything.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Hey good, Game we're. Good we just have to set the.
- 50:21Speaker 3: Tone he hit my face, mask so he didn't hit, whatever.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Your, dad and we're gonna got your, back.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Man he did skinned the skin did not, happen you get, it, Hey.
- 50:36Speaker 3: But he would always tell, Us he's, like, hey SOMETIMES
- 50:38Speaker 3: i got to use your boys to set the tone
- 50:40Speaker 3: here because your mind AND i don't have to answer
- 50:43Speaker 3: to the. MOTHER i don't have to answer to the
- 50:45Speaker 3: other kids. Mother HE'S i gotta go home And i'll,
- 50:47Speaker 3: answer but that's in my own.
- 50:48Speaker 4: House, yeah we.
- 50:49Speaker 3: Were it, was thankfully he's he's. Mellowed he has not
- 50:54Speaker 3: ever punched any of the, kids including my own helmets,
- 50:58Speaker 3: Off so that's.
- 50:58Speaker 1: About, yeah that would be a tough conversation to.
- 51:01Speaker 4: Happen, yeah a lot of.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Flipsod, thankfully we've been.
- 51:10Speaker 1: Good let's play a crystal ball. Game love that your
- 51:13Speaker 1: kids develop in two. Stars they're a four, star five star.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Recruit how heavy are you pressing on them to go
- 51:19Speaker 1: to THE? U, No i'm.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Not, oh, yeah we. LOVE i MEAN i would love
- 51:25Speaker 3: them to go, there and if they asked, ME i
- 51:26Speaker 3: would tell them about my experiences. There But miami's not for.
- 51:30Speaker 3: Everyone Ohio state's not for, everyone, right LIKE i, think
- 51:34Speaker 3: especially whoever Mission, Michigan, nebraska. Whoever my point was big,
- 51:41Speaker 3: school small, schools private. Public miami is a, small little
- 51:44Speaker 3: private school In Coral, Gables. Florida if you drove by,
- 51:46Speaker 3: it you wuldn't even know it was. There it was
- 51:49Speaker 3: great for, me it was great for my competitive, spirit
- 51:51Speaker 3: it was great for my, Development it was great for
- 51:53Speaker 3: getting me outside my comfort zone and getting me outside
- 51:55Speaker 3: in my BOX i grew up. In but it's not for.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Everybody like MAYBE i went To Ohio state Or Miss
- 52:00Speaker 3: nebraska and that might not have been for. Me So
- 52:03Speaker 3: i'm a big. Believer if they asked, ME i tell
- 52:05Speaker 3: them all the positives THAT i. Had but, like they've
- 52:08Speaker 3: got to find a path that suits their needs and
- 52:11Speaker 3: they've got to find a. School so if they were
- 52:13Speaker 3: ever in that, position and who knows if they will or,
- 52:15Speaker 3: Not like they've got to go where they can make
- 52:18Speaker 3: their own path. There and if It's, miami, great but
- 52:21Speaker 3: if it's somewhere, else. Awesome Like i'm not gonna tell
- 52:26Speaker 3: my kids where to go to school by that, Point
- 52:28Speaker 3: like they've got to start learning making. DECISIONS i went
- 52:31Speaker 3: To Notre. DAME I i signed A Notre dame out
- 52:33Speaker 3: of high. School it lasted three, months my first ever adult.
- 52:36Speaker 3: DECISION i got there AND i was, like, ooh bet
- 52:39Speaker 3: not for, me and transferred To miami before the season even.
- 52:42Speaker 3: Started so, like you've got to go through some of
- 52:44Speaker 3: those bad you got to go through some of those.
- 52:46Speaker 3: Moments you can't just tell your kid go here to,
- 52:48Speaker 3: here to hear to hear to, here because they're gonna
- 52:51Speaker 3: grow up and they're not gonna have any ability to make.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Decisions and if they make bad, decisions how do you
- 52:54Speaker 3: get out of it and get to a better. One
- 52:56Speaker 3: SO i WOULD i love them to go, there of,
- 52:58Speaker 3: course my wife AND i both went, there BUT i
- 53:01Speaker 3: don't need them to go.
- 53:01Speaker 4: There, YEAH i MEAN i feel the. Same but you
- 53:06Speaker 4: ain't going anywhere in The Big.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Ten my dad went to went to, college actually went
- 53:10Speaker 3: to college In, Nebraska Midland Midland Lutheran.
- 53:13Speaker 4: College and oh, yeah, Yeah.
- 53:14Speaker 3: Nebraska so he's got a lot Of nebraska. Tized but uh,
- 53:18Speaker 3: YEAH i. DON'T i don't.
- 53:19Speaker 4: Know you don't let your kids go. Anywhere they're saying
- 53:21Speaker 4: that you don't have to go To. Nebraska you're gonna know.
- 53:23Speaker 4: THAT i want you to go, there but you can
- 53:26Speaker 4: go somewhere. Else but it's going to be outside of
- 53:28Speaker 4: The Big.
- 53:28Speaker 3: Ten they're not going To.
- 53:29Speaker 4: Purdue, yeah what About?
- 53:31Speaker 3: Michigan going About.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Uncle?
- 53:35Speaker 3: Taylor no you Going you ain't going On, michigan, Man, No, No.
- 53:39Speaker 1: First, off let's talk about what about, education Like michigan's
- 53:43Speaker 1: top fifteen school in the.
- 53:45Speaker 4: WORLD i think we have the most academic All americans
- 53:48Speaker 4: in college.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Football the bar is pretty low if the end stands for.

- 54:21Speaker 3: It if all three of my kids went, there, Great
- 54:24Speaker 3: now it's one hundred grand a, year so they better
- 54:26Speaker 3: be damn good at whatever they. Do but we'll still
- 54:29Speaker 3: pay for. It but LIKE i if they went To, Florida,
- 54:35Speaker 3: Like i'm not that guy that's, like you cannot say
- 54:37Speaker 3: the Word Florida state in my. HOUSE i played for The.
- 54:40Speaker 3: Bears The packers are sacrilegious that you know In carolina

- 58:24Speaker 4: Your.
- 58:24Speaker 3: Daughter this is my final take on. This this is
- 58:27Speaker 3: my clearest WAY i can put. It if my kids, Said,
- 58:30Speaker 3: dad tell us where to, go it's down to our final.
- 58:33Speaker 3: Three we love them, all And miami's in the. Mix,
- 58:36Speaker 3: Obviously i'm, saying let's go To, miami like it's. Amazing
- 58:39Speaker 3: it's like. Yes but if they came to me and, Said,
- 58:42Speaker 3: Dad miami's just not for, Me LIKE i didn't like the.
- 58:45Speaker 3: CAMPUS i want to go somewhere. BIGGER i want to state.
- 58:47Speaker 3: SCHOOL i want yeah whatever whatever they and if it Was,
- 58:51Speaker 3: Florida Florida, State, Michigan, alabama or a community, whatever it was,
- 58:57Speaker 3: great go to, college go, learn be live your, life
- 59:02Speaker 3: get a, degree make, mistakes learn how to take care
- 59:05Speaker 3: of your freaking dorm. Room, yeah JUST i don't, know
- 59:08Speaker 3: LIKE i. Didn't i'm paying the bill wherever they, go
- 59:11Speaker 3: as long as they're good.
- 59:11Speaker 4: Kids AND i think to like if if IF i
- 59:13Speaker 4: had a son and he was good enough to go
- 59:15Speaker 4: play college or. WHATEVER i think a lot of it
- 59:17Speaker 4: that WOULD i would think about, too is like who's coaching?
- 59:20Speaker 4: Them WHEN i said To Big, ten it's like if
- 59:23Speaker 4: they came back and they're, like you know Coach Laning oregon,
- 59:26Speaker 4: offered and you knowing Coach lane and.
- 59:27Speaker 1: Say, hey that's a, guy that's that's that's a guy
- 59:30Speaker 1: you want to be?
- 59:31Speaker 4: Right who else have we been? AROUND i, mean wore.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Me Even, Dillingham, yeah, dude, yeah.
- 59:40Speaker 4: Really a lot of the guys who came across you
- 59:41Speaker 4: kind of can tell.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Feel a little bit if my, daughter if my daughter
- 59:44Speaker 1: wanted to go To, Issue i'd have a hard time with. That,
- 59:47Speaker 1: YEAH i was gonna a HARD i would tell him
- 59:53Speaker 1: the same THING i would tell, Myself, like, LISTEN i
- 59:58Speaker 1: ask you if you already going here to see a
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: lot of beautiful. Girls that's the reason why daddy didn't
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: go TO Su i'm From. ARIZONA i went down those.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Streets i've been Down Mill avenue And i've looked both.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Ways AND i didn't know which way to look because
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: there's so many beautiful. Girls that's Why daddy went To.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Michigan that's Why daddy chose not Because daddy wanted to
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: go to THE. Nfl that's that's WHAT i. Was that's
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: What i'm telling my, son my. Daughter so we're having the.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: CONVERSATION i also have two, girls seven to.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: Four daughters are.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Different, yeah my DAUGHTER I i've told the story of
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: multiple times since this. Happened we're watching playoff hockey and my,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: daughter my oldest, daughter she's not.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: Like she's she could be.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Athletic she's just she's. Seven But i'm basically telling her
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: she's not very, competitive which is totally. Fine But we're
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: sitting there watching playoff hockey together And i'm, like, sweetheart
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: you have the genetics you, have like the, ability like
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: your mom's, athletic your. Daddy you know you've, Seen i've
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: showed you the, highlights right. EXACTLY i was, like if
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: you wanted you could play, sports like you get your
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: school paid, for you can do all these, things like
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: you could really make something if you wanted to do.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: This and she sits back in this chair and, goes
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: you know THEM i Think i'm just gonna be. Me
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: and that was the MOMENT i was, Like i'm not
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: going to press her at all anymore about sports because
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: she's Always, Daddy you're always talking about. Sports i'm, like,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: yeah because it's really All daddy knew growing. Up so,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: like Obviously i'm gonna try to get you into these.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: Things but now THAT i know, That so if we're
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: having the conversation at seventeen years old and she has
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: an excelevence letter From Ohio state and she's, LIKE i
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: want to go To Ohio, State i'm, thinking why would
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: you want to go? There it's not like a predominant
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: like educational, school like it's up anything like That Michigan
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: top fifteen public school you want to go to someone,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: like there's a lot of other. Places but if she
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: wanted to go To House, state, Yeah i'm betting the. Knee,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: Yeah i'm betting the.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: Knee we all say it's just the way it.
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: Goes it is the way it.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: Goes But i'll tell you one THING i will say
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: though about, Girls i'm further.
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: Down the.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: Latter you're oldest is, Seven my daughter is. Twelve she'll
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: be thirteen in the. Fall SO i got twins boy girl.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Twins they'll be, thirteen they'll be seventh, graders and then
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: my oldest is eighth. Grade so boys and girls very
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: different maturity wise. Whatnot she wanted nothing to do with
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: sports until probably like two years, ago played like little
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: soccer with her, friends but like there was no, training
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: there was no, practicing there was no going out in the, driveway,
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: like she had no. Interest so it was pretty much
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: just the boys that were our sports. Experiences about two years,
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: ago she played for a little school basketball, team took
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: a liking to, basketball started going out and like venturing
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: into some more of like competitive basketball. Roles so now
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: she's when the boys do basketball training with the. Guy
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: like she's out there with the boys doing basketball. Training
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: she's in the, gym she. Practiced she just went out
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: for the track team at her. School me and her
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: just drove To greensboro for The Adidas Outdoor track And
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: field meet last. Weekend and she's competing against some of
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: the best girls in the. Country granted she's sixth. Grade like,
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: yeah not that she's, winning not that she's the best or,
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: anything but like ALL i would say is for the
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: girls sometimes the competitive side, doesn't at least in my.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: Family it came out a little bit. Later when the
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: boys were. Little it was run around with a football
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: in their, hand and let's go play, catch and, thataddy
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: let's go hit off the. Tee it took her a
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: little bit longer fifth, grade give her take fourth fifth.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: Grade but now she's as competitive and as strong and
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: as driven and as much of a dog as, Anybody
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: like she is a. Horse so don't give up on.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: It don't don't give up on it like we.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: Had we never in a millionaire stought she was gonna
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: really get much into sports outside of just like, recreation,
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: fun soccer or. Whatever but she's, competitive like right, now
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: like literally as we, speak my wife's taking her and
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: in the two, boys all the kids Took you Know.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: Kula you Know Brian cooler trained McCaffrey and he works
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: At Battleground. Academy you know that school here In. Franklin
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: do you guys live In? Nashville, yeah, OKAY i wasn't
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: Sure i'm naming all these come from, Anyway so like
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: they came down. Here he's like a great track and field,
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: coach like that's his. Specialty trained Annaholl and McCaffrey and
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: all these people From. Colorado he moved To nashville within
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: the last couple of, months so like they're. There she's
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: there doing a hurdle workout with, him learning how to run,
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: hurdles and they're gonna do a speed, day so like
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: she'll work.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: Now LIKE a think a lot of it, too with
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: like young kids has got to be just feeling, confident
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: like maybe they're a little. Insecure they kind of shy
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: away from maybe doing a sport because they don't know
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: if they're good at it. YET i just like the idea.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: Too it's like when you get just getting kids obviously
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: involved in, sports but you have something that you were
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: committed to, doing a place that you have to be
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: a place to show, up how you show up for the,
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: world like how to stay you, know start getting in
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: those areas of like discipline and everything, else and it's, like,
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: hey if you don't like doing it, afterwards we might
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: find something else to do for you during that. Season
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: it could be, anything doesn't have to be, sports but
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: something that you can commit yourself to because at some
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: point you're gonna have to. Start you're gonna have to
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: start doing. That like when you go to school and
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: you're committed to your grades or you're committed to whatever,
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: whatever things are going.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: To be totally agree and and again we all just know,
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: sports so that's like the only AVENUE i know to
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: teach those lessons.
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: Now but we have the best.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: Lessons it's again we're.
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: Bias we.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: Haven't been exposed to the, arts to, music to LIKE
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: i wasn't exposed to. IT i think a lot of
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: people have great experiences doing, that AND i think that's.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: WONDERFUL i don't know that. WORLD i didn't grow up
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: in that. World so obviously our life experiences to our
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: kids are going to be things that we're comfortable with
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: to be recognized because we got the values out of.
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: It so like our model with that is like we're
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: not trying to do all this to become professional. Athletes
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: if we were all trying to have our kids play
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: sports to be professional, athletes we should all just. Stop
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: if that's the, goal you're wasting your. Time you better
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: spending your time and energy doing other. Things it's all
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: the other. Ship being, accountable being on, time doing something
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: for other, People having an authority figure that maybe you
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: don't like or you don't think's giving you the fair
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: end of the, deal.
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: And it's not your parents and they're trying To it's
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: different when you have a different authority. Figure i'm kind
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: of coaching you up and you're totally you're not gonna
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: talk crazy in front of where else are you getting? That,
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: yeah it.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Doesn't keep it well. Rounded like with my, kids it's, like,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: hey you have to have an, art you have to
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: have a, language and you have to have a. Sport
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: and right now their sport is Like brazilian jiu jitsu
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: jumping in. That my daughter wants to Learn chinese because
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: she saw how to train Your dragon and dragon The
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: chinese all about it and they're taking classes and stuff like.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: That so it's cool to see these things THAT i
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: know nothing, about but like they're really enjoying. It they're about.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: It they have these like canvases sitting, outside they're always
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: painting and doing. Stuff it's just really it's cool Because
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: i'm like learning As i'm going To.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: TOTALLY i would love my kids to be like. That
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: like we stress trying to be well, rounded and then
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: LIKE i take. IT i take a look at myself
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: And i'm, like and you're there on A frinday with
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: salt and. Pepper what do you do other than? Sports,
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: so LIKE i growing, up like we did sports, Right
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: like we didn't go. Camping you never went. HUNTING i
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: can't tie a fishing. Line i'm not the guy to,
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: call LIKE i always joke like the kids like we
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: go fishing. Lake i'm, like, yeah it's Called. Luke he
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: lives around the corner for, Me, Like luke's the guy
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: that needs to come put the lure. On luke needs
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: to come when your school gets tied and, Nodded like
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: you don't have a dad that's good at that. Ship
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: but if you need a dad to come coach your
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: team and you want to be good at, that LIKE
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: i could be good at.
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: That, yeah, YEAH i can do. THAT i can help.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: Outside of, That Like i'm not the guy to teach
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: you how to pitch a.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Tent yeah, yeah, YEAH i. Know we have like three
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: minutes before you so we have a couple.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Questions let's go.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Broadcasting you've obviously you you crush. It you're VERY i
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: the way you're able to express yourself to the viewer
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: that's listening that might not a whole lot about. Football
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: when you have a wealth of. Knowledge you do a
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: great job of letting the casual viewer understand the game
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: of football in those three hours that you're seeing in the.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: Booth thank.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: You Tom brady comes. In there's been a whole lot
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: of conversations About Tom. Brady he gets thrust into this.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: Role is there like a rivalry type of thing between you.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: TWO i know you've commented a little bit about, it
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: but how do you feel when all this stuff is
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: going on and you've kind of put a lot of
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: work in And tom Being tom kind of gets thrust
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: it up to the top right.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: Away, yeah and, again it's not something That i've shied away,
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: from And i'm happy to talk about it and be
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: honest with. It that the simplest way to put it
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: is like anybody you guys in your world wanting to
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: be at the top of the, charts and you want
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: To that doesn't mean these other people aren't your. Buddies
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: it doesn't mean that you're not also pulling for them
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: to have. Success like everyone who's motivated to be a
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: high achiever in any, industry whether it's in the podcast
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: world or whether it's in, broadcasting whether it's in coaching, athlete,
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: whatever ever Since i've been, Little i've always wanted to be.
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: Good Whatever i'm, DOING i want to be good at,
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: it And i'm gonna do everything in my power to
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: be as Good i'm ever gonna be the. BEST i
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: don't have to be the best at, it But i'm
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: gonna be whatever my best. IS i DON'T i don't
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: really HAVE i don't know how else to do. IT
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: i don't like doing things That i'm not particularly good,
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: At LIKE i don't enjoy that. EITHER i am going.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: Golfing but like so when it comes to the situation
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: With tom and the, games LIKE i was very lucky
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: that in my second year the things went down the
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: way they did With joe And troy, leaving that me
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: And kevin got got promoted to being the top number one,
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: team and we were happened to be a Super bowl.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: Year so we were going to call that Super, bowl
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: we called The Philly Kansas City. Game but we knew
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: going in That tom had signed a futures deal in
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: essence to be determined whenever he was done playing when
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: he's going to. Start but he had a deal on
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: the table BEFORE i got elevated from the two crew
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: With kevin to the one. Crew so that was the
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: order of events of how all that went. Down SO
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: i knew going IN i was going to call THE
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: a crew for a year and past that WAS. Tbd
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: it ended up being two, years SO i got The
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Super bowl, year one additional, year and Then tom. CAME
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: i really enjoyed. BROADCASTING i love, FOOTBALL i love talking,
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: BALL i love talking to the. GUYS i love. Learning
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: i've learned more as a broadcaster about other aspects of
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: football that MAYBE i didn't wasn't as privy to playing
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: in the last five years than maybe been fourteen years of.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: PLAYING i enjoy the process of. LEARNING i enjoy the
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: process of present think the game to an audience in
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: a fun, way in a cool, way maybe ways they're
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: not used to. Hearing whatever that. Is tom And i's,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: relationship both professionally and personally is really. Good like we've
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: Gone i've said this, Before like we've spent the day golfing.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Together he sent a hype up video to my team
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: before their pop first middle school game last, year which
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: was super, cool and the kids we.
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: Lost, Jesus, tom.

- 1:10:55Speaker 3: Joined fox then we had when we were both. Playing
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: we knew each, other, uh we'd see each before and after.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: Games it was a very casual professional relationship me and.
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: HIM i have spent a lot of time, together a
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: lot of time talking, professionally a lot of time. PERSONALLY
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: i have zero animosity For. TOM i don't sit there
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: SAYING i hope they're broadcast. STINKS i hope at. All
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: that is independent from my personal aspirations OF i want
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: to take this to the highest LEVEL i. CAN i
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: want to Call Super, BOWLS i want to get to
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: a top. CREW i want to continue to elevate and
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: see how high in the industry THAT i can. Get
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: those things can both simultaneously. Exist my ascension individually does
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: not have to come at the expense of. Him it
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: does not have to come in animosity towards. Him if
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: he has a long career in this, industry so CAN.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: I those two things are not doing so that's the
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: WAY i look at. It i'm going to go in
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: this year to hopefully have a great year and continue
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: to present the game in a fun. WAY i have
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: a great crew With joe And, pam and my crew
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: At fox is, awesome AND i hope to do this
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: for the next twenty. Years and what that looks. LIKE
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: i don't think you know. What what does this look
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: like for twenty? Years no one. Knows but that's my
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: approach towards all of.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: IT i love, it, dude are very very last. Question
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: you know people would do anything for a bud? Light
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: what would you do anything? For you can't say. FAMILY
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: i feel like if he did say, family he'd have
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: a very good. Answer if you wanted to go that.
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: Route doesn't have To.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: YEAH i mean, FAMILY i think is probably at the
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: top of everybody's, list right like, you you would go
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: to the end of the earth for your. Kids and you,
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: know for as much as sometimes they aggravate you and
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: they frustrate, you and you know they don't want to,
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: listen at the end of the, day when you take
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: a step, back, man that's what all of it's, about,
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: Right it's about your family and your wife and your
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: kids and giving them a better giving them a better
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: opportunity than maybe you, had and paying it, forward and you,
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: know hopefully they go on to make great impactful. Lives
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: LIKE i think that'd be everyone's cliche, answer even though
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: it's the. TRUTH i MEAN i, PROFESSIONALLY i would probably
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: give anything to go back and be able to replay
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: Our Super. Bowl so twenty, fifteen we were seventeen and.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: One we won fifteen regular season, games were we, ran we.
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: Had we had a tight game in the divisional round Against.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: Seattle we were up thirty to nothing at, halftime ended
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: up having to recover an on sitees. Kick we didn't
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: score in the second. Half Russell wilson almost brought them
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: back and beat. Us we. Won we blew the doors Off.
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: Arizona we scored forty five points in THE Nfc championship. Game,
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: SO i mean we had scored almost ninety points collectively
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: between the divisional and it's a great. PICTURE i looked
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: thrilled in the, back.
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: You.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: Know SO i look back on that season and there's
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: a little, like, wait that was a wasted, moment right
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: like we we were on the cusp of a history
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: of the most wins ever for A Super bowl team
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: IN nfl. History we would have been. Eighteen we would
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: have been eighteen and Won Super bowl. Champs no team
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: had ever won eighteen games and won The Super. Bowl
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: and we were the best offense in, football and we
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: shipped down our Leg we were. Terrible we turned the
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: ball over a, Bunch we didn't. SCORE i think we
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: scored ten. Points we were averaging thirty two a. Game
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: we scored four seven Against who was the next best
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: team record wise Was arizona that. YEAR i think they
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: won thirteen. Games we beat him forty five to. SEVENTEEN i,
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: mean it was a bloodbath in THE Nfc. Championship but
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: as you guys, know you get one. Shot it's not
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: best to, five it's not best to. SEVEN i would
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: give anything not to win The Super, bowl like go
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: back and just play it one more time and maybe
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: we would have lost. AGAIN i don't. Know they were damn.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: Good denver was.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Good knowing your your mind frame about like, effort, finishing
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: like we, like if you're not gonna do, that you're
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: not gonna play for My papa warrant. Team, Yeah we'll
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: go through your. Mind when you See Cam newton double
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: clutch on that, fumble.
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: You, KNOW i think to the outside, world AND i
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: mean this, sincerely this is not me covering For. Cam
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: of every Guy i've ever played. With if there was
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: ever a guy that you did not have to question his,
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: physicality his, toughness his, competitiveness it Was cam that. Is
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: and that is not a cliche cover for. Him like
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: if he if he pulled up in the moment for
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: that ball and he's talked about, it he's, like, man
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: IF i could go, back that's Probably i've heard him
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: talk about on his, Podcast like in the, moment that
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: was Not i'm scared to go get, Hit i'm scared
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: to go dive down on the. Ball there, was as
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: we all have been there in, time your reaction to
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: what you see in the moment and feel and you're
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: it's hard to really even quantify what you.
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: Do you.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: React for ten, YEARS i watched that guy put his
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: life on his, body his, life his career on the,
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: line in big, moments in meaningful, games In wednesday, practice
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: in training, camp all between. There if there's one people
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: want to knock him for a lot of, things find
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: you cannot knock him for not being, competitive for not being,
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: tough and when it came time to going out there to,
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: play that dude played his ass off every.
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: Day he was unbelievable every. Day you wish you would
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: have said he would have traded in HIS mvp for
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: A Super. Bowl that's a.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Long conversation but short, Answers, YEAH.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: I would rather he Traded. NO I, again there's always
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: context With cam and those of us that have spent
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: a lot of time with him always can view the
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: things that he says that maybe to the outside, scene
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: but we're viewing it through a lens of ten years
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: now fifteen years of being around him and really knowing him,
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: intimately how how he, thinks how he, responds how he body.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: Language all of. It like we have a very keen
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: idea of his good, days is not like we really
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: understood what made him tick and and he was the
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: pulse of the. Team he was, that he was the
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: center of the locker. Room he was everything everyone saw
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: from the outside that was genuine like he was like.
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: That he would run for a touchdown on the last
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: play of inside run period on A wednesday And week,
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: sixteen we would have to make any quarterback pole play
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: the last play of the period because if we were
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: running it from the say the minus, thirty and that
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: was just where the was, marked he would run seventy
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: yards to the goal line and he would put the
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: ball on top of the fence like he, scored and
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: it was like him handing the ball to the stands
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: like he was his touchdown. Thing he did that in
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: practice one hundred percent of the time for ten. Years
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: we would have to change the script and make sure
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: that any play he would have the ball was the last,
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: play because if it was play, three we'd have to
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: wait for him to run seventy yards back and call
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: the next play in the. Huddle so he when he
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: was running, back the defense would go and we were
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: off the field and the defense would do their, period
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: and by the time he came, back it was time
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: for seven on seven or whatever the period, was, like
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: that was every single. Day so when he talks ABOUT
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: mvp versus winning The Super, BOWL i think the point
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: he's trying to lay out was he took such great
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: pride in the season he had that, year WINNING mvp
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: on clearly the best team up until The Super, bowl
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: versus there's a lot of guys that have won Super
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: bowls but didn't have nearly the level of impact that he.
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: Had as the reason you want there's a lot of
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: guys who have Super bowl rings and we're on Super
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: bowl winning. Teams but that in his, again his message
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: was that's a big difference BETWEEN i won our team
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: a Super. BOWL i was one of the big factors
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: of winning our team a Super, bowl, right wrong or?
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: INDIFFERENT i think that's the lens that he was trying
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: to present that. By but LIKE i think we all
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: would be, like, Hey, cam we love you to the
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: end of the, earth but if we could have won
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: a Super, Bowl, like you're gonna have to take that
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: one for the.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: TEAM i love you and.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: You're my guy. Forever but like you're, LIKE i.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: Lose Super, Bowl, yeah let's just take.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: That yeah we have that and you're still. Great, yeah
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: you're still, great but uh, yeah, man it's uh so,
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: yeah that would probably be that was tough like we
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: and we never could find it. Again you, know we
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: had almost the same exact team in twenty sixteen AND
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: i think we won six. Games.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Yeah you hear about year about guys that are young
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: that make the playoffs early and they kind of like
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: lose the division round or losing the championship, round and
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: older guys are, like just so you, know it doesn't
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: always go like. This you never know until you, know
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: because we were in, nineteen we went to THE Afc.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: Championship we had essentially the same guys.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: HERE i do love.
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: It you're run a. PAUSE i sit here all day
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: with you guys say it.
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: Feels like on maybe seventy percent of, pods like at
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: twenty nineteen.
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: That were that was our twenty.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Fifteen you got to bring up as much as you
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: can the chiefs eighty percent of the. Time Will was
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: wants to bring up his pick six in The Capitol
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: one game Against, georgia but he his team up thirteen.
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: Seven you know, what my?
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: Favorite are we still? Rolling can we just address the
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: elephant in the. Room me and you have talked about,
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: this BUT i don't know if we've talked about this
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: on the open. Forum you don't like when you hear
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: a story about your former self and you look back
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: and you're, like don't love, it like not proud of.
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: It brought me in the, moment didn't react WHEN i
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: when is.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: This this must be our you just oh oh tackle.
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: ELIGIBLE i got tackled on the one in that stadium one.
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: Year he came to tell, you, guys you've told this.
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: Story we're playing each. Other you With washington and you
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: knock the ball away from. Me you had a little
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: or whatever and broke and you gave like the typical
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: like it was a four yard. Knockdown Spider man gave me.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: Webs he gave me like full.
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: On he was cut.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: THROAT i, mean it was like every celebration that defenders ever.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: Done SO i just, remember and it was like the first.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: Quarter it was not like third down game on the.
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: Line it was like the game started at the game
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: started at. ONE i think this completion was like at
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: one oh. Seven nobody was even in the stands, yet
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: and he's webbing, Me spider manning. Me he's got all
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: sorts of, wristbands. ON i, mean he's got a lot going.
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: On AND i just remember turning around and you've told the.
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: Story and immediately AFTER i said, IT i was, like
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: god THAT i felt really like THAT i. Shouldn't that felt.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: BAD i wasn't a ship, talker never really got into
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: stuff With like my kids asked me all the, time like,
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: that did you ever talk? Shit i'm like the whole
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: game ALL i could think about was catch my breath
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: and when DO i get to go sit back on
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: the bench to like, Regroup LIKE i had no time
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: or energy to be into like pissing matches between. PLAYS
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: i was, exhausted but it was early in the. GAME
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: i was full of piss and, vinegar you. Know AND
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: i turned around AND i remember AND i was something
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: along the lines of like, who who the fuck are
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: you at this? POINT i had some good, years LIKE
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: i was pretty, productive AND i was like maybe feeling
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: myself too. Much and the SECOND i said, it said,
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: it he kind of looked at me with like that like, really,
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: Dude LIKE i, say, MAN i work for this. Spot
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: AND i, remember so we would get off the field
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: and we come back on and we're in like A
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: tv timeout AND i was LIKE i just it didn't.
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: FIT i don't. KNOW i don't know WHY i FELT
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: i was like a little. PUSSY i GUESS i. FELT
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: i don't. KNOW i was being sensitive in the, MOMENT i.
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: Guess AND i walked over AND i was, like, hey, man,
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: like we're. GOOD i shouldn't have said. That good, Play
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: sorry about, that and we was, like, no, man we're.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: Good we're.
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: Good you, know but like years, AGO i hadn't thought about,
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: it LIKE i hadn't thought about. After but when you
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: told that, story however many years, Ago i'm here AND
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: i heard. IT i was LIKE i, heard like that
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: was fucked, Up LIKE i should have done. THAT i
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: was not. Proud SO i just wanted to address it
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: in front of the. Boys, yeah all of you, guys,
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: like that's on. Me i'm proud THAT i fixed. It
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: in the, MOMENT i feel good about, that but like
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: you were busting your ass and you earned that, spot
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: and now it was.
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: Not for, me and it's it's the it's the ship talking.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: MOMENT i wasn't proud of. It when you told that,
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: STORY i was, like, yeah that was that guy. BUSTING
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: i was like the amount of ship he probably overcame
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: to be in that spot that day to play like take.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: That, YEAH i was like that SuDS a.
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: Whole other three hour.
