- 2:48Speaker 1: get comments like girls going woke?
- 2:50Speaker 2: No, Yeah, moving.
- 2:52Speaker 1: On, Let's hear a synopsis of Romance with a Twist.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Luna is a former dancer man Jane her family's construction business.
- 3:02Speaker 2: She gets a chance to turn a gymnasium into an
- 3:05Speaker 2: aerial studio and is discovered by Bennett, a professional aerial list.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Though annoyed at first, Bennett recruits Luna as his partner
- 3:15Speaker 2: for an upcoming show after his original partner drops out.
- 3:19Speaker 2: As Luna returns to her roots as a dancer, their
- 3:24Speaker 2: relationship grows stronger through hard work and joy of ariels.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Luna helps out Bennett when his aerials
- 3:34Speaker 1: partner drops out so the town's arts festival can be successful.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I helped you out, Hallmark writers. I don't know who
- 3:42Speaker 1: wrote that. I'd also like to say that synopsis isn't
- 3:44Speaker 1: even correct. Has the chance to renovate a gymnasium, It's done.
- 3:48Speaker 1: The arials of you exist at the opening of this movie.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm coming in hot but first, okay, news and notes.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Romance with the Twist was directed by Max Maguire, who
- 3:57Speaker 1: has twenty nine directing credits. He as previously directed My
- 4:01Speaker 1: Christmas Guide, Christmas by Design, and The Most Colorful Time
- 4:05Speaker 1: of the Year for All Mark. This movie was written
- 4:08Speaker 1: by Uma and Croachy. Uma is a newer writer with
- 4:11Speaker 1: five writing credits which include A Christmas Carousel and A
- 4:13Speaker 1: Nature for Love. But she's also an actress who has
- 4:16Speaker 1: appeared in How to Get Away with Murder, Jane the Virgin,
- 4:18Speaker 1: and Modern Family and Fun Fact. Uma said she was
- 4:22Speaker 1: heavily influenced by the movie The Cutting Edge.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Ooh topic, I've never seen that. I don't get your
- 4:28Speaker 2: reference either. It comes up on my suggested on my
- 4:32Speaker 2: Netflix all the time.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Dabe Sweeney is a late eighties super wowie z Howe
- 4:39Speaker 1: early nineties. Maybe you should watch it.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Okay, Jocelyn Houdan? Is it hoodon? What things?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Why are you pointing at me just because I don't
- 4:52Speaker 1: know how to say poor Erica tublaz name one time
- 4:54Speaker 1: I make one mistake? No, that is not auto correct?
- 5:01Speaker 1: Is are you asking if it auto corrected? In our notes?
- 5:06Speaker 2: That is her name. Her last name is h u
- 5:09Speaker 2: d oh, and I just don't know how to pronounce it.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I think you got it, okay. She plays hell Nah
- 5:14Speaker 1: wouldn't it be funny if I came in and I
- 5:16Speaker 1: was like, actually, it's Jocelyn haddoun it is.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I don't know, this is gonna be my everest. Everybody's
- 5:25Speaker 2: names really get to me, I'm sorry, even the ones
- 5:29Speaker 2: that are not that hard.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I mean a tooble a.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Because it gets in my head.
- 5:32Speaker 1: It gets in my freaking head.
- 5:34Speaker 2: A tooth late is a hard one. But it was
- 5:36Speaker 2: fanatically spelled on IMDb.
- 5:38Speaker 1: That's the I know had I done? Even Eric iota
- 5:41Speaker 1: of research. Eric is our secret friend.
- 5:45Speaker 2: He is.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I'm a negart friend calling him our friends. Sorry, Eric,
- 5:49Speaker 1: look you DM me more than once. You're a friend
- 5:51Speaker 1: of the show.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Totally so, totally okay. She has a whopping seven projects
- 5:57Speaker 2: currently in the works to add to her current thirty
- 6:00Speaker 2: six acting credits. We last saw her in last year's
- 6:03Speaker 2: Love in the Maldives alongside with her real life husband,
- 6:06Speaker 2: as well as in the Ice Hotel franchise that Refuses
- 6:09Speaker 2: to Die Baby It's Cold Inside. Jocelyn started off as
- 6:13Speaker 2: a dancer. She trained and performed at the National Ballet
- 6:16Speaker 2: School of Canada, starting at the age of eleven.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Oliver Renault, I think it might be Renault. Don't ask me, lady,
- 6:23Speaker 1: it's Renaud. Don't make it fans. He plays Bennett. Oliver
- 6:27Speaker 1: has twenty acting credits which include a number of made
- 6:29Speaker 1: for TV Christmas movies.
- 6:31Speaker 2: However, they were.
- 6:31Speaker 1: All for other networks. Oliver was the perfect actor for
- 6:34Speaker 1: this role, as he has previously toured with the circ
- 6:37Speaker 1: Dusilat show Saltimbungo, which I have seen, as well as
- 6:41Speaker 1: performed in the resident Las Vegas show The Beatles Love
- 6:44Speaker 1: by Cirk Dusola, which we have seen two together.
- 6:47Speaker 2: That show is so good and frea fantastic. Candice Lyndstone
- 6:52Speaker 2: plays Gabby. This movie marks Candace's first Homewark appearance. Her
- 6:56Speaker 2: twenty five acting credits include the movies Ice, Road Killer,
- 7:00Speaker 2: Unholy Knight, and Raiders of the Loss Shark.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Love It, I Love a Pun. Rebecca Applebom plays Candace.
- 7:07Speaker 1: You might recognize Rebecca from her role as teacher in
- 7:11Speaker 1: five episodes of Ginny and Georgia. This is also her
- 7:14Speaker 1: first Hallmark movie, although she did appear in Planes, Trains
- 7:17Speaker 1: and Christmas Trees with Oliver Renault. Oh crossover there?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Huh? When is Jenny and Georgia coming back? I need
- 7:24Speaker 2: a season three do you, I do. I love that show.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Romance with the Twists was originally titled Swinging and to
- 7:30Speaker 2: Love and I think they should have kept.
- 7:32Speaker 1: It co signing. Romance with the Twist was filmed in Ottawa,
- 7:35Speaker 1: Canada in summer twenty twenty three. And here's a little
- 7:38Speaker 1: behind the scenes take. The hair and makeup department revealed
- 7:41Speaker 1: in an article featured on heavy dot com that they
- 7:44Speaker 1: did use some stunt doubles for this movie, although Jocelyn
- 7:47Speaker 1: and Oliver did a number of their own stunts, and
- 7:50Speaker 1: they had to make a stunt wig for Oliver's double.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And here's a little quote. There was one time when
- 7:56Speaker 1: the double got too close to the top of the silks,
- 7:58Speaker 1: the opening was too small. When he tried to flip
- 8:00Speaker 1: to the silks, they snatched that wig clean off. Oh right,
- 8:07Speaker 1: I didn't think about that. I was just thinking about
- 8:09Speaker 1: like his hair like by moved to the ground. But yeah,
- 8:12Speaker 1: probably didn't feel great.
- 8:14Speaker 2: It was either like taped to his head or something.
- 8:17Speaker 2: And then I got ripped off. I will never forget
- 8:20Speaker 2: being at my little sister's like dance recital and goes
- 8:24Speaker 2: clip and ponytails and one of them.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Like everybody laughed, it was a little wigglet.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it wasn't my sister, it was somebody else fortunately,
- 8:34Speaker 2: funny funny, funny funny.
- 8:36Speaker 1: All right, let's talk first impressions and the award for
- 8:40Speaker 1: the most unique kiss location in a Hallmark Baby goes.
- 8:43Speaker 2: It's kind of sexy.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I didn't hate it, Okay.
- 8:46Speaker 2: My first impression is it did kind of look like
- 8:48Speaker 2: a talent show. Who am I wrong?
- 8:54Speaker 1: No, it didn't like sir dis Alay, girl you get
- 8:58Speaker 1: on the silks? Oh me, yes, I would never It
- 9:02Speaker 1: is harder than it looks. Well, look, I'm not saying
- 9:04Speaker 1: I don't think it's supposed to look like shirk do
- 9:06Speaker 1: so lay, And let's talk about the fact that girlfriend's
- 9:09Speaker 1: definitely not getting picked up by circ durev after one
- 9:13Speaker 1: local performance on the silks. Fair but I think it
- 9:17Speaker 1: was fairly impressive that like Blue Loop, Blue Bloop, Blue Boop,
- 9:20Speaker 1: they do down the silks and they don't land on
- 9:22Speaker 1: their heads.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Come.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 2: They had names for them too. Did you catch them?
- 9:25Speaker 2: They were kind of funny.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I heard a couple of them. We both failed to
- 9:29Speaker 2: write them down. It's okay, uh, okay, all right, this
- 9:35Speaker 2: doesn't mean I hated this movie though no.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Overall, I actually thought this was quite enjoyable to watch,
- 9:41Speaker 1: and I thought Joscelyn Houdon is the cutest thing I've
- 9:44Speaker 1: ever seen, super cute. I was like, why are you
- 9:47Speaker 1: so fun to watch? You're so cute? And I loved
- 9:51Speaker 1: her little like construction Barbie outfits, but then she switched
- 9:54Speaker 1: over to her dancer outfits.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I've really enjoyed her. I agree with you. I just
- 10:00Speaker 2: think Hallmark is dying for some like fresh faces, and
- 10:04Speaker 2: I know that she's been in other movies, but like,
- 10:07Speaker 2: I think it's time to maybe.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Shake it up a little bit. And isn't it nice?
- 10:13Speaker 1: She's not new to Hallmark, but she's also not a
- 10:15Speaker 1: Hallmark darling at this point. And instead of doing what
- 10:18Speaker 1: they might run in the past and putting her alongside
- 10:20Speaker 1: an established Hallmark actor, they bring in a total movie
- 10:24Speaker 1: so it's real fresh. There's not a lot like the
- 10:29Speaker 1: entire cast is very fresh. I think this may have
- 10:32Speaker 1: been an acquisition because of that, which is fine, But
- 10:37Speaker 1: I agree with you. I think it makes the movie.
- 10:39Speaker 1: To your talent show comment, I actually liked that we
- 10:43Speaker 1: got quite a bit of using the silks on camera yea.
- 10:47Speaker 1: And even though it's in practice and things aren't going well,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and there's lots of gaffes. I think that they could
- 10:55Speaker 1: have very easily not done that.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Sure, we've seen plenty of dance come by Titians where
- 11:00Speaker 2: you don't see a ton of dancing.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Yeah, they actually did work on the silks.
- 11:05Speaker 2: To that note, I did like that we got a
- 11:08Speaker 2: movie about aerial silk dancing. Yeah, I haven't seen that before. Okay, Well,
- 11:14Speaker 2: what I liked is this is a subject I'm not
- 11:17Speaker 2: personally interested in doing, but I'm interested in learning about.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Look at these people are athletes, no doubt about it.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I thought it was like a fun subject to explore.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I liked that we had a movie that started off
- 11:31Speaker 1: with Bennett being an antagonistic jerk, and my spidy senses
- 11:37Speaker 1: were tingling because I was like, I'm not gonna like this.
- 11:39Speaker 1: It's hard for me to make that transition from I
- 11:42Speaker 1: hate you to I love you. Yeah, they did something
- 11:45Speaker 1: they don't always do, and they actually have an apology scene,
- 11:49Speaker 1: and I think that makes it easier. He was behaving
- 11:53Speaker 1: for whatever reasons he was behaving that way. He apologizes,
- 11:57Speaker 1: So we don't just move from antagonism to romance. There's
- 11:59Speaker 1: a step, yeah, like, which is very important normal human
- 12:04Speaker 1: would do a communication. Yeah, yeah, isn't that weird? What
- 12:08Speaker 1: else did you like?
- 12:09Speaker 2: There was something campy about the town and its people,
- 12:11Speaker 2: and it gave me some real stars hollow. Oh yeah,
- 12:14Speaker 2: you got your unique townspeople, and the town is dependent
- 12:18Speaker 2: on the success of this art festival for its survival. Like,
- 12:21Speaker 2: I enjoyed that.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, you know how I've been asking for some
- 12:26Speaker 1: therapy in our movies.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I don't know if you notice, but in this movie
- 12:33Speaker 1: there are a couple of different scenes where they talk
- 12:36Speaker 1: about how to handle fear and how to talk yourself
- 12:40Speaker 1: through it, and the self talk that they use, and
- 12:43Speaker 1: kind of the scripting that they use. Y'all. That's cognitive
- 12:46Speaker 1: behavioral therapy right there. I liked it, And anybody who
- 12:49Speaker 1: deals with anxiety, not anybody, but a very common treatment
- 12:53Speaker 1: for anxiety is cognitive behavioral therapy and fear a therapist. Obviously,
- 12:57Speaker 1: I'm breaking it down to its most basic forms. It
- 13:00Speaker 1: is the process of training your brain to Yes, sometimes
- 13:06Speaker 1: fear and anxiety make sense, but sometimes your brain is
- 13:09Speaker 1: not telling you the truth.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I have that as one of my likes. I
- 13:13Speaker 2: love the pep talk that Bennet gives Luna and then
- 13:16Speaker 2: she turns and gives that to the other gal. Yeah,
- 13:20Speaker 2: I thought it was really good me too.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Let's talk what we wish.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Like you said, I thought Bennett was a super jerk,
- 13:27Speaker 2: and I said he was a super jerk, like more
- 13:29Speaker 2: than needed. Uh huh uh huh. And I know that
- 13:33Speaker 2: a lot of people in our Facebook group are saying
- 13:34Speaker 2: like their chemistry was great and like how awesome they
- 13:39Speaker 2: think he is, But I just couldn't. I had a
- 13:42Speaker 2: hard time getting over how pompous he was.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it would take me a lot longer to get
- 13:47Speaker 1: to a good place with him after he was so
- 13:49Speaker 1: rude to me. Yeah, I would be like, I'm not
- 13:51Speaker 1: a professional aerialist, I'm doing you a favor in between
- 13:56Speaker 1: my other full time job. Maybe you could cut me
- 14:01Speaker 1: some slash. Yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I thought it was too hard on her and to
- 14:06Speaker 2: her face. Yeah, it just was mean. Yes, it was mean.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I gotta say I hated how Luna working for her
- 14:14Speaker 2: family in construction was frowned upon.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Is it just me who thought it was? I might
- 14:18Speaker 1: have taken a purse that's the vibe you got, yees. Oh,
- 14:21Speaker 1: you once were a dancer, but now you were construction
- 14:25Speaker 1: instead of being like, yeah, you're a badass. Look, I
- 14:29Speaker 1: would love to be a general contractor. I think that's
- 14:31Speaker 1: a dream job for me. That's never going to see
- 14:34Speaker 1: the future or see the light of day or whatever.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I just think that's super cool.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Yeah, And I don't know why. I just felt like
- 14:42Speaker 2: it got shpit on.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Anyway, Okay, I wish the reporter wasn't such a stone
- 14:47Speaker 1: cold beachude. Why her role there was to promote the
- 14:52Speaker 1: art festival. She yes, she visited a practice session. She
- 14:58Speaker 1: saw they weren't prepared to perfor for her, so she
- 15:01Speaker 1: saw practice. It's practice, things go wrong. They weren't ready.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And she writes this takedown piece saying, I hope you
- 15:07Speaker 1: don't fall asleep because it's so boring. Instead of framing
- 15:12Speaker 1: it like you said, like quirky small town. Look at
- 15:15Speaker 1: Luna stepping up to save her small town performance. They
- 15:19Speaker 1: need her. The actual aerialist doesn't show up, so she's
- 15:23Speaker 1: learning this routine. She's giving of her time and herself.
- 15:27Speaker 1: That's the story that I's look at how the town
- 15:29Speaker 1: supports each other.
- 15:31Speaker 2: People interest story, human interest and interest, that's the word
- 15:35Speaker 2: it is. I think so too. Okay, so I did
- 15:39Speaker 2: say that it did look at a talent show, and
- 15:41Speaker 2: those are the words of the reporter. I thought their performance,
- 15:46Speaker 2: I wish it was a little more exciting to watch.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I don't know, Look, I can't lift myself like that.
- 15:54Speaker 2: I'm never going to try. That's amazing. What they can
- 15:58Speaker 2: do is amazing. I just wanted some more wow to it.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Some more stunting. Gia Dublin. Yeah, I in my mind,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I think they must have cut a scene because we
- 16:09Speaker 1: meet Audrey, this apparently super famous singer, and they're.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Like, oh my gosh, that's Audrey, And I.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Thought, who is this woman? And they give you some information,
- 16:21Speaker 1: but it felt like we should know and we should
- 16:24Speaker 1: all be excited that she's there, and it felt unfinished
- 16:29Speaker 1: to me.
- 16:30Speaker 2: It felt so unfinished to me that I thought she
- 16:32Speaker 2: a real person that I just don't know who that
- 16:34Speaker 2: is and googled me.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I thought one hundred percent. I was like, Oh, she's
- 16:39Speaker 1: gonna have the Broadway career or something, and the answer
- 16:44Speaker 1: is no, no, And she doesn't, as far as I
- 16:47Speaker 1: can tell, even like sing professionally.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Yeah, she just has a pleasant voice that she's using
- 16:52Speaker 1: in this movie.
- 16:53Speaker 2: I didn't. I didn't really understand that. But it's the
- 16:55Speaker 2: same thing, like they got this towns woman, the artist
- 16:58Speaker 2: to paint her or whatever, teacher to sing with this
- 17:02Speaker 2: other lady. Yes, these are like human interesters. I thought
- 17:05Speaker 2: I liked that, but again I agree that there was
- 17:08Speaker 2: a missing link there.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Did you see that?
- 17:13Speaker 2: I don't have any personally, but thank goodness for correspondent
- 17:17Speaker 2: Mike and our Facebook group. Mmmm of coursepondet. Mike sent
- 17:21Speaker 2: a screen grab of Luna's mom working construction in her
- 17:25Speaker 2: skinny jeans and suede booties.
- 17:29Speaker 1: The footwear choice of contractors everywhere.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Yeah. I watch a lot of the Flippine shows and
- 17:33Speaker 2: stuff like that, and they'll be like women in vans
- 17:36Speaker 2: or whatever, but like not like a booty with a heel. Yeah, no,
- 17:41Speaker 2: you need some grip. Yeah. And Sandy and our Facebook
- 17:45Speaker 2: group wrote this, and I thought it was really funny.
- 17:47Speaker 2: She wrote, My favorite did you see that at the
- 17:50Speaker 2: Outdoor Festival there was a character drawer those caricature, Yes,
- 17:56Speaker 2: but he didn't have an easel. It was just a
- 17:57Speaker 2: clip on a pole. He was drying and thea was
- 18:00Speaker 2: flappy and it was very difficult to draw that way.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Hey, I have two. Did you see? That's one? Both
- 18:07Speaker 1: the art Studio and the Aerial Studio are just labeled
- 18:10Speaker 1: Art Studio and Aerial Studio. And the art studio has
