- 0:31orbital mission marked a major milestone in human
- 0:34curiosity and technological achievement, inspiring
- 0:38international focus on space exploration and
- 0:41scientific innovation. So now you know. And now,

- 3:04day from 8 to 5. So stop on by and don't forget
- 3:09to tell them. Sunny mornings send you. In local
- 3:14news, lobster populations off New England have
- 3:17significantly declined, leading regulators to
- 3:21declare overfishing is occurring. The Atlantic
- 3:24States Marine Fisheries Commission reported a
- 3:2734 % drop since 2018, prompting potential new
- 3:31management measures for fishermen. Lobsters are
- 3:35a key seafood species valued at over $700 million
- 3:39last year, but their numbers have rapidly decreased
- 3:42in recent years. Most of the decline is happening
- 3:46in fishing areas off Maine and Massachusetts,
- 3:49where the southern New England stock remains
- 3:51depleted. Despite attempts to enforce new rules,
- 3:55fishermen have resisted changes that threaten
- 3:57their livelihoods. Now onto sports. In the latest
- 4:07NFL news, the Indianapolis Colts suffered a disappointing
- 4:11loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers with a final
- 4:14score of 27 to 20. Porterback Daniel Jones struggled,
- 4:19leading to skepticism about his future. and the
- 4:22Colts' Super Bowl aspirations. Despite a 7 -1
- 4:26record, doubts lingered due to this performance.
- 4:30Jones, who had been strong all season, faced
- 4:33pressure and made critical mistakes, resulting
- 4:35in four turnovers. Meanwhile, Matthew Stafford
- 4:40shined for the Rams, throwing four touchdowns
- 4:42in a 34 -10 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
- 4:47The Kansas City Chiefs also faced challenges.
- 4:50potentially impacting their playoff positioning
- 4:52after a loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Cincinnati
- 4:56Bengals defense remains a concern following a
- 4:59last -minute defeat by the Chicago Bears. The
- 5:03Atlanta Falcons continue to struggle with kicking
- 5:05issues, while the Green Bay Packers lost to the
- 5:08Carolina Panthers in a surprising upset. These
- 5:12outcomes highlight the unpredictability of this
- 5:15NFL season in local sports. The brutal loss by
- 5:21the Indianapolis Colts has surprisingly moved
- 5:24the Pats into a stunning playoff position. After
- 5:28a disastrous 2024 season, Hope surrounded the
- 5:32Patriots under Mike Frable's leadership with
- 5:34expectations for improvement. Now with a six
- 5:38-game winning streak, they have become a legitimate
- 5:41threat in the ASC. After beating the Falcons
- 5:45to reach seven wins and two losses, they hold
- 5:49the top seed in the conference. This season,
- 5:52the postseason is a real possibility as they
- 5:55prepare for a challenging matchup against the
- 5:58Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week. In top news,
- 6:04more than 10 million YouTube TV customers lost
- 6:07access to ESPN, ABC, and other Disney channels
- 6:12Thursday night after contract negotiations over
- 6:15carriage fees collapsed. The dispute reflects
- 6:19broader tensions, as programming companies demand
- 6:22higher fees for sports content, while pay television
- 6:25providers push back against rising subscriber
- 6:28bills. College football and NFL games are among
- 6:32the affected programming, with no clear resolution
- 6:35timeline. YouTube TV stated, We know this is
- 6:39a frustrating and disappointing outcome for our
- 6:41subscribers. The blackout could lead to a $20
- 6:45credit for subscribers if it lasts for an extended
- 6:48period. In business news, Donald Trump's grant
- 6:54of clemency to Cheng Fengzhao, the founder of
- 6:58Binance, highlights failures and checks on presidential
- 7:01power. During a recent exchange with CNN's Caitlin
- 7:05Collins, Trump dismissed questions about the
- 7:08pardon, claiming Zheo had a lot of support. and
- 7:12was persecuted by the Biden administration. Zao,
- 7:16known as Tsidis, was convicted for failing to
- 7:20maintain an effective anti -money laundering
- 7:22program and has a net worth of roughly $60 billion.
- 7:27Despite his controversial pardon, Trump continues
- 7:31to benefit from the cryptocurrency industry,
- 7:34raising concerns about corruption and the integrity
- 7:36of the American political system. In crypto movement,
- 7:41Bitcoin is down 3 % over the weekend to $108
- 7:46,000. Ethereum is down 6 % to about $3 ,700.
- 7:54And XRP is unchanged at $2 .43. Moving on to

- 8:40to tell them Sunny Morning sent you by. And now,
- 8:45back to the show. Let's talk science. The ocean
- 8:49is doing its best to absorb excess heat from
- 8:52greenhouse emissions, but once humanity achieves
- 8:55a net negative carbon economy, the consequences
- 8:58will be severe. A new study indicates that when
- 9:02cooling begins after fossil fuel use is stopped,
- 9:05the ocean will burp excess heat, resembling the
- 9:08effects of humanity's fossil fuel era. This emphasizes
- 9:13the urgency of reducing emissions. Achieving
- 9:16a net neutral world is crucial. The ocean produces
- 9:2050 % of our oxygen and absorbs 30 % of atmospheric
- 9:24carbon. Even in an ideal climate scenario, heat
- 9:29trapped in the Southern Ocean could result in
- 9:31significant warming effects for decades. This
- 9:35research highlights the complexity of our climate
- 9:37goals, suggesting that the road to a healthier
- 9:40planet is still challenging. And in entertainment
- 9:46news, the National Football League announces
- 9:50that Sting will headline the Super Bowl branded
- 9:53concert amid controversy surrounding Bad Bunny.
- 9:57The Every Breath You Take singer will perform
- 10:00in San Francisco on February 6th at the Palace
- 10:03of Fine Arts, two days before Bad Bunny's halftime
- 10:07show. Sting's performance is part of the Super
- 10:11Bowl LX Studio 60 event, which promises unforgettable
- 10:15music entertainment. Tickets for Sting's concert
- 10:19start at $750 each. Despite criticism of Bad
- 10:25Bunny's selection for the halftime show, NFL
- 10:27commissioner Roger Goodell remains optimistic
- 10:30about the event. Sting previously performed at
- 10:34the Super Bowl halftime show in 2003. Well, all
- 10:39righty, folks. It's time for the quote of the
- 10:42day. And today, our quote comes from the American
- 10:46Marine biologist and conservationist Sylvia Earle.
- 10:51And she said, The ocean is the cornerstone of
- 10:54Earth's life support system, providing oxygen,
- 10:58regulating climate, and sustaining biodiversity.
- 11:01Yet it remains largely unexplored and undervalued.
- 11:07And that's a wrap for this morning. You can check
