- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: howtgrel Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kaylee, and this is
- 0:19Speaker 1: your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
- 0:21Speaker 1: a new mindset, and another day for you to become
- 0:23Speaker 1: the hawtgral energy you want to attract. Hello you guys,
- 0:27Speaker 1: Happy Wednesday, Welcome back to another episode. If you're new
- 0:31Speaker 1: to the podcast, welcome, Thank you so much for joining.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I feel like we always get a few new faces
- 0:35Speaker 1: to the podcast because this podcast is obviously a lot
- 0:39Speaker 1: about healthy lifestyle, trying to become the best version of ourself,
- 0:42Speaker 1: and obviously being in the new year and being in January,
- 0:46Speaker 1: I'm sure everybody's feeling that motivation of goal setting, wanting
- 0:51Speaker 1: to become obviously the best version of ourself. All that. So,
- 0:53Speaker 1: if you're new, welcome to the podcast. I'm so happy
- 0:56Speaker 1: that you're here. In today's episode, as you can see
- 0:58Speaker 1: the title, we're going to be talking about routines and
- 1:01Speaker 1: how you can become a routine girl for twenty twenty six.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I really wanted to chat about this episode this week,
- 1:07Speaker 1: specifically just because we are in the most motivational time
- 1:12Speaker 1: right it's the new year. Obviously we all have goals
- 1:14Speaker 1: for ourselves, and I know having a routine is not
- 1:18Speaker 1: easy for everybody, and building a routine for yourself is
- 1:21Speaker 1: not easy, and I know there's some people that feel
- 1:23Speaker 1: like they've failed or some people that don't really know
- 1:26Speaker 1: where to start. So I figured I would start giving
- 1:28Speaker 1: some tips on how to create a routine for yourself,
- 1:31Speaker 1: along with some habits that you can do in the
- 1:34Speaker 1: morning or at night, to kind of just get some
- 1:36Speaker 1: inspiration of how you can kind of start off your
- 1:39Speaker 1: year with establishing a routine for yourself. And figured I
- 1:42Speaker 1: would just give some inspiration for anyone that's looking to
- 1:45Speaker 1: start a routine. Before we get into today's episode, I
- 1:48Speaker 1: always kind of do a little recap of things that
- 1:50Speaker 1: are happening in my life just so I can build
- 1:52Speaker 1: a bit more of a personal connection. I always try
- 1:54Speaker 1: and only do it for like five to ten minutes,
- 1:57Speaker 1: just because I love chatting with you guys, and I
- 1:59Speaker 1: love all so like getting your DMS when you guys
- 2:01Speaker 1: give me feedback or anything, or just like answering any
- 2:04Speaker 1: questions that I talk about here on the podcast. But
- 2:07Speaker 1: I always do like five to ten minutes. It's just
- 2:08Speaker 1: kind of like personal and then we always talk about
- 2:11Speaker 1: the episode obviously for like twenty to thirty minutes, So
- 2:13Speaker 1: if you want to skip past this part, you're more
- 2:15Speaker 1: than welcome to. But I always like to give a
- 2:18Speaker 1: little update. So what's going on right now in my
- 2:20Speaker 1: life back injury. Let's talk about that for a second,
- 2:23Speaker 1: because I actually had a few of you message me,
- 2:25Speaker 1: and I feel really really grateful that some of you
- 2:29Speaker 1: are also dealing with an injury or gave me some
- 2:31Speaker 1: tips on how I should address my injury. Okay, so
- 2:35Speaker 1: for starters, I had been going to a physiotherapist. I've
- 2:37Speaker 1: been going now for three months. In the beginning, the
- 2:39Speaker 1: injury was not that bad. I feel like it was
- 2:41Speaker 1: like the beginning stages of it. And you know, she
- 2:44Speaker 1: didn't want me to completely cut out my workouts or
- 2:47Speaker 1: my routine because my physio believes that you should be
- 2:50Speaker 1: able to continue doing something as long as like you're
- 2:53Speaker 1: doing your stretches and like obviously like getting the treatment
- 2:56Speaker 1: that you need while continuing your day to day workouts.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So that was like my physio's suggestion. That was all
- 3:02Speaker 1: before the holidays, and then I don't know what happened.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I honestly just think it may have just gotten worse
- 3:08Speaker 1: from obviously just kind of like overdoing it, or me
- 3:11Speaker 1: just like not listening to my body, whatever the case
- 3:13Speaker 1: may be. I could also have been like the way
- 3:15Speaker 1: I was sleeping on my back. Because it is a
- 3:17Speaker 1: back injury. I do think it's very sensitive and plays
- 3:20Speaker 1: a huge factor in like any upper body workouts, any
- 3:24Speaker 1: full body workouts, Like it's just one of those things
- 3:27Speaker 1: where you think it's not a big impact, but it
- 3:30Speaker 1: is on your body. And so this week my physiotherapist
- 3:35Speaker 1: did unfortunately give me some bad news about my back
- 3:37Speaker 1: and has told me to stop all my workouts completely
- 3:40Speaker 1: for four weeks. The only kind of workout I can
- 3:42Speaker 1: do is a lower body workout or you know, cardio
- 3:47Speaker 1: or yoga classes. So this is very difficult for me
- 3:50Speaker 1: to process, obviously, because if you guys have been listening
- 3:52Speaker 1: for a while, you guys know that I am a
- 3:54Speaker 1: huge workout person. I love to work out. It's like
- 3:58Speaker 1: my form of therapy kind of helps my mental health.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It just feel good when I start my day off
- 4:02Speaker 1: with going to a workout class. And so it's only
- 4:06Speaker 1: been three days and obviously it's fine. I'm trying to
- 4:09Speaker 1: find structuring a routine in a different way. And that's
- 4:11Speaker 1: kind of also why i wanted to talk about routines,
- 4:14Speaker 1: because I'm having to adjust my routine to accommodate an
- 4:16Speaker 1: injury that I'm currently going through. But this is just
- 4:19Speaker 1: kind of the reality, like people have to adjust the
- 4:21Speaker 1: routine when they get a new job, or people have
- 4:24Speaker 1: to adjust the routine when they get pregnant or whatever. Right,
- 4:27Speaker 1: so this is obviously a very normal thing, and I'm
- 4:30Speaker 1: obviously like fine with it. It just sucks because obviously
- 4:34Speaker 1: not what I wanted to start my year off. Also
- 4:36Speaker 1: as well, because I feel like January also people are
- 4:38Speaker 1: all in the mindset of like wanting to work out
- 4:41Speaker 1: and you know, be consistent with the routine and all that,
- 4:43Speaker 1: and I've kind of had to do the opposite where
- 4:45Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, just kidding, your body's telling you to
- 4:48Speaker 1: slow down and actually not push yourself. So I have
- 4:52Speaker 1: decided to only do a yoga class and one to
- 4:55Speaker 1: two booty classes a week. So I'm going to start
- 4:58Speaker 1: doing a booty class at Reforma Palae once a week.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I'm going to do a workout at home, which is
- 5:03Speaker 1: strength training for lower body. So as of right now,
- 5:07Speaker 1: my structured workout schedule is going to be a booty
- 5:10Speaker 1: class at reform of pilates, and then I'm going to
- 5:13Speaker 1: do one at home workout which is strength training for
- 5:17Speaker 1: my lower body, and then one yoga class a week.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I feel like yoga might be good just for stretching.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It's also a heated workout, not heated workouts, sorry, heated
- 5:25Speaker 1: yoga class, so I feel like that will be really
- 5:27Speaker 1: good as well. So three times a week, that is it. However,
- 5:31Speaker 1: my physiotherapist did say that I could continue walking and
- 5:34Speaker 1: using my vibration plate every single day, so that's kind
- 5:37Speaker 1: of been my structure in my routine of waking up
- 5:40Speaker 1: every single morning doing ten minutes on my vibration plate
- 5:43Speaker 1: and then I walk on my walking pad for forty
- 5:46Speaker 1: five minutes to an hour and I've been loving it.
- 5:48Speaker 1: And then I spend like twenty five minutes doing all
- 5:51Speaker 1: my back stretches. So obviously my physiotherapist gave me a
- 5:54Speaker 1: bunch of stretches just to do and yeah, so that's
- 5:57Speaker 1: kind of been like my structured routine as of right now.
- 5:59Speaker 1: And then trying to work out ish doing lower body
- 6:03Speaker 1: three times a week. But I just wanted to share
- 6:05Speaker 1: that update because if anyone's going through an injury, I
- 6:07Speaker 1: feel you. I get you. It's not easy, and just
- 6:11Speaker 1: kind of felt the need to share about update with
- 6:13Speaker 1: you guys since I kind of brought it up last week.
- 6:15Speaker 1: And then my house. Obviously, my house has been a
- 6:17Speaker 1: huge fun project that we're working on. If you guys
- 6:20Speaker 1: didn't know, my husband and I are building a new house,
- 6:23Speaker 1: which is very exciting and something that we're very proud of,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and we move in the summer. But it's been very
- 6:28Speaker 1: hard to like, obviously make the podcast a priority and
- 6:31Speaker 1: like wanting to edit things for work when I have
- 6:34Speaker 1: to make decisions for the house by like certain deadlines.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So that's been consuming my time a lot lately. But
- 6:40Speaker 1: I love house stuff obviously, as you guys know, I
- 6:42Speaker 1: do really love the design aspect. It's so fun. But
- 6:46Speaker 1: obviously I love my job as well, so it's very
- 6:48Speaker 1: hard to like balance both. But I feel like I've
- 6:50Speaker 1: been a little over work these past few weeks. But
- 6:52Speaker 1: that's okay. Anyways, I know this is very temporary and
- 6:55Speaker 1: that it should be fun obviously designing a house, and
- 6:57Speaker 1: it is. It is so fun, but it gets to
- 7:00Speaker 1: a certain point where like it just gets too much.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I don't know how to explain it, but like, we've
- 7:04Speaker 1: been designing this house for almost three months now, and
- 7:06Speaker 1: at this point, I'm just like, Okay, I just want
- 7:08Speaker 1: to pay for whatever the upgrade is. I don't care.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I just want it, Like you know what I mean.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I'm sure if you guys have done a new build
- 7:15Speaker 1: or have designed a house, I'm sure you guys understand
- 7:16Speaker 1: the process of just like I don't know going through
- 7:19Speaker 1: the process. If you're planning a wedding, it's kind of
- 7:21Speaker 1: the same situation. Like obviously, the whole wedding planning stuff.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It's so fun in the beginning, and then as you
- 7:25Speaker 1: get closer to the date, you're like, okay, this is stressful,
- 7:29Speaker 1: Like I just want it to happen. I'm done with
- 7:30Speaker 1: picking different types of florals or figuring out the budget
- 7:34Speaker 1: or the budget increasing. Like I feel like it's actually
- 7:36Speaker 1: very similar to planning a wedding, because that's how I
- 7:38Speaker 1: felt during my wedding planning process. But anyways, that's probably
- 7:41Speaker 1: the best example I could give for designing a house. Okay,
- 7:45Speaker 1: So for starters, let's talk about a reason why most
- 7:49Speaker 1: people fail with routines, Like what is something that people
- 7:53Speaker 1: struggle with when it comes to building a routine for
- 7:55Speaker 1: themselves and personally. I think the main reason why people
- 7:59Speaker 1: fail their routine is that they either do too much
- 8:02Speaker 1: at once, or copy someone else's routine completely or strictly
- 8:07Speaker 1: rely on motivation like they think, oh, I have the
- 8:10Speaker 1: motivation today, I'm actually going to get up and do something,
- 8:12Speaker 1: when that's not the case at all. We can't just
- 8:15Speaker 1: rely on the odd motivation that we get when we
- 8:17Speaker 1: wake up in the morning. Motivation is all built around needs,
- 8:21Speaker 1: goals and meaning. Needs might be that your body wants
- 8:26Speaker 1: this right, like your body feels like it needs to
- 8:29Speaker 1: do these things in the morning or at night. Or
- 8:32Speaker 1: goals as in there's goals that I obviously want to
- 8:34Speaker 1: reach for myself for this year, or meaning which is
- 8:38Speaker 1: what does it mean to you? So we've talked about
- 8:41Speaker 1: why so much in the podcast of like why do
- 8:43Speaker 1: I do these things right? Like why do I want
- 8:46Speaker 1: to become a routine girl? Why do I want to help?
- 8:49Speaker 1: Why do I want to have a healthy lifestyle? All that,
- 8:52Speaker 1: So that's what you kind of have to think about
- 8:54Speaker 1: when it comes to building these routines for yourself. But
- 8:57Speaker 1: I want to bring up copying someone else's routine because
- 9:00Speaker 1: this one, I think is a very common thing that
- 9:02Speaker 1: people do, thinking that they can do, you know, twenty
- 9:05Speaker 1: five different habits in the morning, like this girl they
- 9:07Speaker 1: saw on TikTok too. And I'll be honest, I'm sure
- 9:09Speaker 1: some people probably copy my routine, and I'm gonna be honest,
- 9:12Speaker 1: my routine is not realistic for someone who works a
- 9:16Speaker 1: full time job or is in school full time. Like
- 9:19Speaker 1: I probably spend two to three hours of my morning
- 9:22Speaker 1: routine doing those little things that I love, but not
- 9:24Speaker 1: everybody has the luxury of doing that, and I realize
- 9:27Speaker 1: that right So for me, the whole point of talking
- 9:30Speaker 1: about building a routine for yourself is that everybody has
- 9:34Speaker 1: to create a routine based off of their lifestyle, based
- 9:38Speaker 1: off of their schedule. So everything that I talk about
- 9:41Speaker 1: in this episode today, I really just want it to
- 9:43Speaker 1: be some inspiration for you of maybe some little things
- 9:47Speaker 1: that you can add on to your current routine and
- 9:50Speaker 1: build one for yourself. It's not about saying, hey, you
- 9:53Speaker 1: need to do all these things before you start your workday.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That's not what this episode's about at all. This episode
- 9:59Speaker 1: is about here or little ideas that you can do
- 10:02Speaker 1: in the morning to create that structure and that routine
- 10:06Speaker 1: feeling that you're missing, and to also just kind of
- 10:08Speaker 1: start your day off in a productive way that you
- 10:11Speaker 1: feel good going into your day. So that's kind of
- 10:13Speaker 1: the whole goal of what we're talking about today. I
- 10:15Speaker 1: also wanted to purposely talk about this episode today because
- 10:19Speaker 1: with the new year, I feel like it can be
- 10:20Speaker 1: very overwhelming. I think we write out all these goals
- 10:23Speaker 1: for ourselves, which is exciting and motivational, but I also
- 10:27Speaker 1: think that having all these goals makes us feel like
- 10:30Speaker 1: we have this pressure of needing to do everything at
- 10:33Speaker 1: once or needing to be perfect at doing all these things,
- 10:36Speaker 1: when that's just not the case at all. I think
- 10:38Speaker 1: we need to take these goals as something that we're
- 10:42Speaker 1: working towards throughout the entire year. We're not saying this
- 10:46Speaker 1: needs to be perfected by the fourth week of January.
- 10:49Speaker 1: We're saying that, hey, at least, if I can do,
- 10:52Speaker 1: you know, four out of the five things that I
- 10:54Speaker 1: wanted to do for myself this year, like within the
- 10:57Speaker 1: next twelve months, I'm going to be proud of myself.
- 10:59Speaker 1: We're actually to that, So we need to kind of
- 11:01Speaker 1: have that mindset where we don't want to feel overwhelmed.
- 11:04Speaker 1: We don't want to feel like everything needs to be
- 11:05Speaker 1: done at once, because that's what's going to create burnout,
- 11:08Speaker 1: that's what's going to create failure, and we don't want that.
- 11:11Speaker 1: We want to feel successful. We want to feel like
- 11:14Speaker 1: we're actually creating a routine for ourself, we're feeling consistent.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So that's where the first step kind of comes into play,
- 11:19Speaker 1: about reframing our mindset around a routine for ourselves. So
- 11:24Speaker 1: we aren't going to become a new person overnight. That's
- 11:26Speaker 1: kind of like what I was getting to there is
- 11:28Speaker 1: that it's not something that's just going to happen the
- 11:30Speaker 1: next day like that, like, oh yeah, I'm going to
- 11:33Speaker 1: be a full morning routine girl, I'm going to have
- 11:34Speaker 1: like twenty steps in my routine, blah blah blah. Like
- 11:36Speaker 1: that is not what's going to happen. It's all about
- 11:38Speaker 1: just creating a consistent bunch of habits into your routine slowly.
- 11:42Speaker 1: It's a slow building process of creating that routine for yourself.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It's not something that's going to happen overnight. So the
- 11:48Speaker 1: benefit to having a routine for me personally is I
- 11:52Speaker 1: like it because it structures out my days and it
- 11:56Speaker 1: works for me even on days where I feel like
- 11:58Speaker 1: I might like motivation or I might have low energy.
- 12:02Speaker 1: As someone who works for themselves, I desperately needed structure.
- 12:06Speaker 1: So when I quit my corporate job and I started
- 12:08Speaker 1: to do this full time, I kept doing my routine.
- 12:11Speaker 1: But if I didn't have that, there would have been
- 12:14Speaker 1: such a lack of structure, and I definitely think I
- 12:16Speaker 1: would have struggled mentally if I didn't have that routine
- 12:19Speaker 1: for myself in the morning. Because I don't have a boss.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I am my own boss. So in a traditional job,
- 12:25Speaker 1: someone would be there to tell you, Okay, this is
- 12:27Speaker 1: your start time and end time every single day, this
- 12:30Speaker 1: is what you need to work on, this is when
- 12:32Speaker 1: you can take a break, and this is when your
- 12:34Speaker 1: day is over right. Whereas for me, I have to
- 12:38Speaker 1: do all that myself, right, So I need to figure
- 12:40Speaker 1: out a structure routine that's going to keep me structured
- 12:44Speaker 1: throughout my day and make sure that I don't feel
- 12:48Speaker 1: like things are chaotic or I'm feeling unproductive. You know
- 12:50Speaker 1: what I mean That I constantly have to build a
- 12:53Speaker 1: routine for myself. That essentially requires me to become my
- 12:57Speaker 1: own manager. Like I am my own manager, and I
- 13:00Speaker 1: tell myself when to show up, I tell myself when
- 13:02Speaker 1: I need to start work, and having a routine is
- 13:05Speaker 1: what structures my day to day schedule and gives me
- 13:08Speaker 1: the direction of how my day's going to go. So
- 13:10Speaker 1: that's just kind of an example of someone that works
- 13:12Speaker 1: for themselves or someone that has a boss that tells
- 13:15Speaker 1: them when to start, when to take breaks, whatever the
- 13:17Speaker 1: case may be. But this is why every routine is
- 13:21Speaker 1: different for everybody. Right, So, whether you're the kind of
- 13:23Speaker 1: person where you work a traditional job and you have
- 13:25Speaker 1: a start time that you have to be at, this
- 13:28Speaker 1: is how you build a routine. You build it off
- 13:30Speaker 1: of Okay, well, I start my day at eight am
- 13:32Speaker 1: or nine am. Do I want to wake up an
- 13:34Speaker 1: hour earlier and build this routine that I want for
- 13:37Speaker 1: myself before I start my workday, or do I want
- 13:41Speaker 1: to build a routine after work of doing things that
- 13:44Speaker 1: make me feel good? So I don't ever want to
- 13:46Speaker 1: structure these routines. Is like you need to work out
- 13:50Speaker 1: in the morning and have a calm night. It could
- 13:53Speaker 1: be the complete opposite. You can have a slower, calm morning,
- 13:55Speaker 1: and then do your workout at night or on your
- 13:58Speaker 1: lunch break, whatever the case may be. It's always going
- 14:00Speaker 1: to be different for everybody. But again, I'm just here
- 14:03Speaker 1: to provide some inspiration of how you can kind of
- 14:05Speaker 1: structure out your routine for yourself. So then the next
- 14:08Speaker 1: step would be to build out the person that you
- 14:10Speaker 1: want to become this year. So when you did your
- 14:12Speaker 1: vision board or when you did your goal setting of
- 14:15Speaker 1: the person that you strive to become this year, was
- 14:17Speaker 1: it to become a healthier person and build more healthier
- 14:21Speaker 1: habits or was it to be more of a calmer
- 14:23Speaker 1: person where you're trying to feel less stressed and be
- 14:26Speaker 1: more relaxed. Like, there's two different types of people, right.
- 14:29Speaker 1: It could be slow start, I'm doing too much, or
- 14:32Speaker 1: it could be I'm not doing enough. I feel like
- 14:34Speaker 1: I need to do more, I need to work on myself,
- 14:36Speaker 1: I need to become the healthier version of myself. All that.
- 14:38Speaker 1: So that's the starting point, who is the person that
- 14:41Speaker 1: you want to become this year? And then it's about
- 14:44Speaker 1: building the routine. So I want to call this the
- 14:49Speaker 1: four week routine program where you're basically going to choose
- 14:54Speaker 1: one habit out of a bunch of habits that I'm
- 14:56Speaker 1: going to list out for you guys every single week.
- 15:00Speaker 1: So for week one, let's just say you decide to
- 15:01Speaker 1: pick I want to make my bed every single day
- 15:04Speaker 1: for this first week. Okay, you're gonna wake up every
- 15:06Speaker 1: single morning, You're gonna make your bed. That is it.
- 15:09Speaker 1: No other habit. That's how we're starting off. You are
- 15:11Speaker 1: just making your bed every single day for seven days,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and then oh, week two comes around. Okay, what else
- 15:18Speaker 1: do I want to do in my routine? What else
- 15:20Speaker 1: is something that I wanted to do for myself this year? Okay?
- 15:23Speaker 1: I wanted to be a girl that spends you know,
- 15:26Speaker 1: ten to fifteen minutes journaling and creating a to do
- 15:28Speaker 1: list for myself. Okay, if you felt like you were
- 15:31Speaker 1: really consistent on making a bed for the last seven days,
- 15:34Speaker 1: then for the following week, you're going to continue making
- 15:37Speaker 1: your bed every single morning, and then you're going to
- 15:39Speaker 1: spend ten to fifteen minutes journaling and doing it to
- 15:42Speaker 1: do list for the next seven days. Why I like
- 15:44Speaker 1: doing the same thing for seven days straight is it
- 15:48Speaker 1: gives you a sense of how long does it take me?
- 15:50Speaker 1: To do this one habit every single morning, and do
- 15:53Speaker 1: I actually like doing this habit? Does it make me
- 15:55Speaker 1: feel good? Do I like waking up doing it every
- 15:57Speaker 1: single morning? You have to ask yourself those two things,
- 16:00Speaker 1: because if it takes you an hour to do that
- 16:02Speaker 1: one habit and you feel like it's drained your entire day,
- 16:06Speaker 1: then that's not for you. We don't want to waste
- 16:08Speaker 1: our time just doing one thing. I feel like seven
- 16:11Speaker 1: days just gives you a good idea if it's actually
- 16:14Speaker 1: working for you or not, and if you were actually
- 16:17Speaker 1: consistent with it or not. Like some people might have
- 16:19Speaker 1: a goal where it's like, oh, I want to walk
- 16:20Speaker 1: every single day for thirty minutes. Well let's say you
- 16:23Speaker 1: wake up thirty minutes earlier, you do that walk for
- 16:26Speaker 1: thirty minutes, and that's all you can do, and you
- 16:27Speaker 1: were really like, oh I really wanted to walk and
- 16:31Speaker 1: journal and make my bed and you know, meditate for
- 16:35Speaker 1: ten minutes. Then you need to reframe that routine because
- 16:38Speaker 1: you only have so much time in the morning to
- 16:40Speaker 1: do those things. So maybe instead of a thirty minute walk,
- 16:43Speaker 1: you do a fifteen to twenty minute walk, and then
- 16:45Speaker 1: with that extra time you can make your bed, and
- 16:48Speaker 1: maybe moving your journaling session to your nighttime routine versus
- 16:51Speaker 1: your morning routine. Like if you don't have time to
- 16:53Speaker 1: do it because you wanted to make walking your main
- 16:55Speaker 1: priority this year, then move your journaling to your night routine.
- 17:00Speaker 1: So just kind of like making adjustments where you need
- 17:02Speaker 1: to kind of figure out what's working, what's not. How
- 17:05Speaker 1: long does it take me to do these certain things.
- 17:07Speaker 1: If I want to do a workout class in the morning,
- 17:09Speaker 1: maybe that's all I can do, and then any other
- 17:11Speaker 1: habit that I want to do, I can do as
- 17:14Speaker 1: part of my night routine. So I find the first
- 17:17Speaker 1: four weeks of just kind of like trying new things,
- 17:20Speaker 1: trying things out, or trying to do something consistently. I
- 17:24Speaker 1: just feel like the first seven days of starting a
- 17:26Speaker 1: habit just helps you understand if it's working or not,
- 17:29Speaker 1: and then you can kind of build off from there. Right,
- 17:32Speaker 1: And there's always going to be times where you're going
- 17:33Speaker 1: to make adjustments and things that you might need to
- 17:36Speaker 1: change for yourself. As for me right, like, I'm making
- 17:39Speaker 1: an adjustment to my routine because I can't go to
- 17:42Speaker 1: workout classes, so I'm just making it a priority to
- 17:44Speaker 1: walk an hour every single day and go on my
- 17:46Speaker 1: vibration plate, like doing what I can and still choosing
- 17:50Speaker 1: myself and still doing things that bring me joy and
- 17:53Speaker 1: bring me structure in my routine without just saying, oh, well,
- 17:57Speaker 1: I injured my back, so I'm just going to do nothing, nothing,
- 18:01Speaker 1: and that's gonna be my routine. Like, that's not the
- 18:03Speaker 1: mindset that we want. We want to reframe. How can
- 18:06Speaker 1: we still have a structured routine even with an injury,
- 18:10Speaker 1: or even with a corporate job, or with even a
- 18:12Speaker 1: school schedule that might be really busy. There's always things
- 18:15Speaker 1: that we can do and create structure for ourselves to
- 18:19Speaker 1: really start off our day in the right way. So
- 18:22Speaker 1: it's really important to figure out what habits you like,
- 18:24Speaker 1: what habits you don't like, because I feel like even
- 18:27Speaker 1: creating a workout routine for yourself, right, like going to
- 18:30Speaker 1: a workout class that you think you might love and
- 18:32Speaker 1: then you do it for seven days and realize I
- 18:35Speaker 1: actually hate this and I don't enjoy it. Okay, Well,
- 18:38Speaker 1: then the following week you're going to try something different.
- 18:40Speaker 1: You're going to try and go to a strength workout
- 18:43Speaker 1: class versus a pilates class because you didn't like the
- 18:45Speaker 1: plates class, So you want to try doing strength workouts
- 18:48Speaker 1: and then oh, you realize, oh, I actually really like this.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Then you think, okay, what's achievable for me? Can I
- 18:53Speaker 1: do this two to three times a week? Maybe it's
- 18:55Speaker 1: not something you do every single morning. Maybe you kind
- 18:57Speaker 1: of figure out, Okay, Monday, Wednesdays and friend, I'm going
- 19:00Speaker 1: to do a strength workout at this gym, and then
- 19:02Speaker 1: Tuesdays and Thursdays, I'm going to have more of a
- 19:04Speaker 1: slower morning and focus on maybe just walking or doing
- 19:09Speaker 1: stretching at home, whatever the case may be. So really,
- 19:12Speaker 1: just making adjustments and figuring out what works for you
- 19:16Speaker 1: is so so crucial, and that's what's going to build
- 19:18Speaker 1: that consistent routine for yourself where you're going to actually
- 19:21Speaker 1: want to show up, You're gonna feel productive, You're gonna
- 19:24Speaker 1: want to do those things, and guess what, it's not
- 19:26Speaker 1: going to rely on motivation. It's going to rely on
- 19:29Speaker 1: you wanting to show up for yourself and doing those
- 19:31Speaker 1: little things that make you feel good. It's all about
- 19:34Speaker 1: how it makes you feel. And for me, I feel
- 19:38Speaker 1: like I'm consistent with my routine because I love those
- 19:41Speaker 1: things that I do in the morning and it makes
- 19:43Speaker 1: me feel good. So I'm going to give you guys
- 19:46Speaker 1: an example of things that you could do in your
- 19:48Speaker 1: morning and night routine. And again, these are just examples.
- 19:52Speaker 1: These are not things that you have to do. I
- 19:54Speaker 1: just want to give you, guys some inspiration for the
- 19:57Speaker 1: ideal routine for someone that to start some healthy habits
- 20:01Speaker 1: for themselves, or things that might calm you down that
- 20:05Speaker 1: are looking for more of a slower morning or slower
- 20:07Speaker 1: night and you just needed some inspiration for ideas of
- 20:10Speaker 1: what you can do to start off your day or
- 20:13Speaker 1: end off your day. So I'm going to talk about
- 20:15Speaker 1: a morning routine, and again I'll talk about a slower
- 20:18Speaker 1: morning routine and then a more like motivational kind of
- 20:22Speaker 1: like workout morning. So the first thing that I think
- 20:25Speaker 1: everybody can do, whether it's a slower morning or fast
- 20:28Speaker 1: paced morning, is make your bed every single day. This
- 20:31Speaker 1: is an instant when, in my opinion, Mel Robbins always
- 20:34Speaker 1: says on our podcast like it literally sets yourself up
- 20:37Speaker 1: for success every single day. Like when you actually make
- 20:39Speaker 1: your bed, you feel like you've accomplished something. And I
- 20:43Speaker 1: don't know, I find it makes me feel good knowing
- 20:45Speaker 1: that my room is like all nice and my bedding's
- 20:48Speaker 1: all folded, and I feel really good about leaving my
- 20:51Speaker 1: room knowing that it's clean, it's organized. Kind of just
- 20:54Speaker 1: makes me feel good going into my day without even
- 20:57Speaker 1: doing anything yet except making my bed. I also love
- 21:01Speaker 1: to change out of my pjs immediately because I find
- 21:05Speaker 1: putting on a workout set feels very motivational. And it
- 21:07Speaker 1: might be just something in my head, but it creates
- 21:09Speaker 1: that like instant boost of motivation of wanting to be productive.
- 21:14Speaker 1: When I'm in my pjs, I want to be cozy.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I want to have like a slow morning, like I'm
- 21:19Speaker 1: in my pages on the weekend, Like I don't push
- 21:21Speaker 1: myself to put a work as it on, Like I
- 21:22Speaker 1: like my weekends to be slow, So I purposely keep
- 21:25Speaker 1: my pajamas on. So if you're that kind of person
- 21:27Speaker 1: where you want to have more of a slower morning,
- 21:30Speaker 1: keep your pjs on, have more of a slower morning,
- 21:33Speaker 1: and then get changed into your work clothes to the day,
- 21:35Speaker 1: your school clothes to the day after that. So I
- 21:38Speaker 1: personally put on workout clothes because I like to start
- 21:41Speaker 1: my day off with some movement. So I like to
- 21:44Speaker 1: work out or walk or use my vibration plate. Again,
- 21:48Speaker 1: those are just ideas, but if you're the kind of
- 21:50Speaker 1: person that wants to have a bit more of a
- 21:52Speaker 1: slower morning, maybe you can stretch for ten minutes, or
- 21:55Speaker 1: you could also walk for ten to fifteen minutes or
- 21:58Speaker 1: twenty to thirty minutes, whatever works for you. Another thing
- 22:00Speaker 1: I make a non negotiable in the morning is filling
- 22:02Speaker 1: up my water. That way, I know that I'm getting
- 22:05Speaker 1: my hydration in for the day, because hydration obviously is
- 22:08Speaker 1: super key for ourself and yeah, we just obviously need
- 22:12Speaker 1: to stay hydrated throughout the day. So I feel like
- 22:14Speaker 1: if I do it as soon as I wake up,
- 22:16Speaker 1: it holds myself accountable to drinking that entire water bottle
- 22:19Speaker 1: throughout the day. And then I find this is perfect
- 22:22Speaker 1: for anyone that wants a slow morning or for someone
- 22:24Speaker 1: that wants a fast paced morning. Is planning out your
- 22:27Speaker 1: day with like a little to do list or with
- 22:29Speaker 1: a planner. I find planning out my day just makes
- 22:32Speaker 1: it so much easier going into my day knowing that
- 22:34Speaker 1: I have something all written down that I can check
- 22:37Speaker 1: off of, but also just allows yourself to have like
- 22:40Speaker 1: mini goals throughout the day. I always talk about doing
- 22:43Speaker 1: to do list and how it creates structure for your routine.
- 22:46Speaker 1: It creates structure for your day. It takes like maybe
- 22:49Speaker 1: seven minutes to do, and I think everybody has time
- 22:52Speaker 1: to plan out their day. And again, maybe if you
- 22:54Speaker 1: don't have time to do it the morning of, you
- 22:56Speaker 1: could also do it the night before. So writing a
- 22:59Speaker 1: little to do list of everything that you want to
- 23:01Speaker 1: get done throughout the day for the next day. That way,
- 23:03Speaker 1: when you wake up you can look at your planner
- 23:05Speaker 1: and be like, yep, I got to do this this morning,
- 23:07Speaker 1: got to get this done, all that and then making
- 23:09Speaker 1: yourself a healthy breakfast, having your coffee and that's kind
- 23:12Speaker 1: of like my ideal like morning of things that I
- 23:16Speaker 1: would want to do. But again, these are not all
- 23:18Speaker 1: things that you need to do. These are just ideas
- 23:20Speaker 1: of what you can add to your current routine that
- 23:22Speaker 1: you actually have time to do that makes you feel
- 23:25Speaker 1: like you have some type of structure before you start
- 23:27Speaker 1: your work day or your school day or your day
- 23:30Speaker 1: in general. Also, forgot to mention that if you're the
- 23:32Speaker 1: kind of person that doesn't want to work out in
- 23:34Speaker 1: the morning and wants more of a slow pace morning,
- 23:36Speaker 1: you could spend twenty minutes of reading instead of spending
- 23:39Speaker 1: twenty minutes of doing a workout, or you could do
- 23:42Speaker 1: ten minutes of meditation. So those are kind of like
- 23:45Speaker 1: slower morning vibes of like what you can do versus
- 23:49Speaker 1: like doing an intense workout for like thirty minutes or
- 23:52Speaker 1: walking or vibration plate, whatever the case may be. So
- 23:55Speaker 1: that's how I would like kind of describe the perfect
- 23:58Speaker 1: habits to do when looking for more of a slow
- 24:01Speaker 1: pace morning or again finding time to do workouts or
- 24:04Speaker 1: walking or using a vibration plate in your morning as
- 24:07Speaker 1: part of a morning habit. Then for your evening routine,
- 24:11Speaker 1: if you're the kind of person that loves to work
- 24:12Speaker 1: out in the evening, I always say working out right
- 24:16Speaker 1: after work or right after school is nice because you
- 24:18Speaker 1: kind of get out of the way and then you
- 24:19Speaker 1: can just focus on your nightly habits right after that.
- 24:23Speaker 1: So if you prefer to work out in the evening,
- 24:26Speaker 1: I would start your day off with doing your evening workout,
- 24:28Speaker 1: getting that over with, then coming home and making yourself
- 24:32Speaker 1: a home cooked meal, because we all agree that twenty
- 24:35Speaker 1: twenty six is the year where we're all doing home
- 24:38Speaker 1: cooked meals. We're making ourselves healthy recipes that we find
- 24:40Speaker 1: on TikTok or Pinterests or wherever you find your inspiration
- 24:44Speaker 1: for healthy meals. So doing that, then you're going to
- 24:48Speaker 1: make a tea. I find tea so calming, Like I
- 24:52Speaker 1: instantly drink a cup of my peppermint tea and I
- 24:55Speaker 1: instantly feel more calm, I feel less stressed. I just
- 24:57Speaker 1: feel like it's like the perfect thing to and wined
- 25:00Speaker 1: with and it just kind of like calms me down.
- 25:03Speaker 1: And then after my teeth, I usually like to do
- 25:05Speaker 1: some light stretching, So I'll spend like ten minutes doing
- 25:09Speaker 1: stretching just to make sure that my muscles are good,
- 25:11Speaker 1: especially because I'm a very active person and obviously right
- 25:14Speaker 1: now with my back injury, I'm trying to make stretching
- 25:16Speaker 1: a big priority. And even if you don't have an injury,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I still recommend stretching because you don't want to lead
- 25:22Speaker 1: to an injury like me. But if you did a
- 25:24Speaker 1: workout that day, it's so important to stretch your muscles
- 25:28Speaker 1: and again spending five to ten minutes. Everyone can spend
- 25:31Speaker 1: five to ten minutes doing it, Like let's get off
- 25:33Speaker 1: our phones and not scroll for ten minutes let's actually
- 25:36Speaker 1: stretch and be off our phones for ten minutes instead.
- 25:39Speaker 1: So I'm a victim to that and I'm trying to
- 25:41Speaker 1: be better at it, and that's one of my goals
- 25:43Speaker 1: for twenty twenty six is to be better at taking
- 25:45Speaker 1: more time to stretch. So that's something that you could
- 25:48Speaker 1: include into your evening routine. This one is really key
- 25:51Speaker 1: if you do work a job that has an early
- 25:54Speaker 1: start time. Is prepping your clothes, your gym clothes, or
- 25:58Speaker 1: your meals the night before. I find this is a
- 26:01Speaker 1: huge one to set yourself up for success the next day.
- 26:04Speaker 1: That way, you don't have to stress about prepping your
- 26:06Speaker 1: lunch for the day or figuring out what you're gonna
- 26:09Speaker 1: wear or packing your bag. Like if you're the kind
- 26:11Speaker 1: of person that likes go to the gym early before
- 26:13Speaker 1: they start their work day, if you have your clothes
- 26:16Speaker 1: out already and you know exactly what you're gonna wear,
- 26:18Speaker 1: and then have your gym bag all prepped with everything
- 26:20Speaker 1: that you need, you have already set yourself up for
- 26:22Speaker 1: success and you're ready to take on your routine throughout
- 26:25Speaker 1: the morning. So prepping close the night before is a
- 26:28Speaker 1: game changer. I actually do this especially when I have
- 26:30Speaker 1: an early morning plates class, I will always usually pick
- 26:33Speaker 1: out my outfit the night before, literally put it on
- 26:36Speaker 1: my dresser. That way, when I wake up, I can
- 26:38Speaker 1: literally put on my workout outfit. I know exactly what
- 26:40Speaker 1: I'm wearing. It saves me like five to ten minutes
- 26:42Speaker 1: of my morning trying to figure out what I'm gonna
- 26:44Speaker 1: wear for the day. I already know what I'm wearing,
- 26:46Speaker 1: so it just like allows myself to do something else
- 26:50Speaker 1: first worrying about ten minutes of that time of finding
- 26:52Speaker 1: an outfit, you know what I mean. So doing things
- 26:54Speaker 1: at night that you can prep for the night before
- 26:58Speaker 1: before you start your morning off is a game changer
- 27:01Speaker 1: and also just a huge time saver. As I said
- 27:03Speaker 1: in the morning routine, if you feel like you don't
- 27:05Speaker 1: have time to do it to do list in the morning,
- 27:06Speaker 1: do it the night before. So brain dump everything, whether
- 27:09Speaker 1: it's on your notes and your phone, or if you
- 27:12Speaker 1: have a planner, write everything out that you want to
- 27:14Speaker 1: do the next day. I find I've been honestly writing
- 27:18Speaker 1: my to do list more at night than the morning,
- 27:20Speaker 1: not because I don't have the time in the morning.
- 27:21Speaker 1: It's more so I like to go to bed knowing
- 27:24Speaker 1: everything that I have to do the next day. Also,
- 27:27Speaker 1: I like to make sure that I don't forget, so
- 27:29Speaker 1: if I have appointments or meetings that it's like, Okay,
- 27:31Speaker 1: I got to make sure that I attend my meeting
- 27:33Speaker 1: at eleven am, so I write it in my to
- 27:36Speaker 1: do list of the day. That way, it's like, Okay,
- 27:37Speaker 1: I have a workout class at seven, I'm gonna shower
- 27:40Speaker 1: and eat breakfast at nine, and then oh, I have
- 27:43Speaker 1: a meeting at eleven am that I have to attend,
- 27:46Speaker 1: and then oh, I got to film a video or
- 27:48Speaker 1: edit the podcast, wherever the case may be. I just
- 27:50Speaker 1: find doing it the night before helps me out, and
- 27:52Speaker 1: then I can kind of just like reference it in
- 27:54Speaker 1: the morning, knowing that my day is fully structured out
- 27:57Speaker 1: and I don't have to worry about it. But it
- 27:59Speaker 1: really just patents. Some days I do it the night before,
- 28:01Speaker 1: sometimes I do in the morning. It just kind of
- 28:02Speaker 1: depends on the day, but sometimes I do find it
- 28:05Speaker 1: a great way to kind of de stress. That way,
- 28:07Speaker 1: you know everything that's happening the following day. I think
- 28:09Speaker 1: we can all agree that we're probably trying to scroll
- 28:12Speaker 1: less on our phone, so actually putting down our phone
- 28:16Speaker 1: for thirty minutes before bed and either reading or just
- 28:20Speaker 1: doing something that's not related to our cell phones is
- 28:23Speaker 1: so important for this year. I know I'm trying to
- 28:25Speaker 1: work on that, and I think that's something that everybody
- 28:27Speaker 1: could probably work on. And another thing I've been doing
- 28:31Speaker 1: is I actually do my meditation at night ten minutes
- 28:34Speaker 1: before I actually go to bed. I find this calms
- 28:37Speaker 1: my body down so much, and I don't know, I
- 28:40Speaker 1: just like like to focus on my deep breathing before
- 28:43Speaker 1: I head to bed. Again, it's a great way to
- 28:45Speaker 1: kind of relieve stress, relieve any tension that your body's feeling.
- 28:49Speaker 1: And yeah, so I really love a slow night routine.
- 28:51Speaker 1: That's just me personally. But again, if you're the kind
- 28:54Speaker 1: of person that loves a slow morning, doing a meditation
- 28:56Speaker 1: in the morning is also really great. But obviously meditation
- 29:00Speaker 1: is just so great for you know, working on our
- 29:02Speaker 1: breathing techniques, obviously destressing and just really calming our bodies down.
- 29:07Speaker 1: And I just personally love doing it before I head
- 29:09Speaker 1: to bed. And then for me to be a early
- 29:13Speaker 1: morning riser and to actually hold myself accountable for waking
- 29:16Speaker 1: up early, I do go to bed at the same
- 29:18Speaker 1: time every night. I go to bed at nine thirty
- 29:20Speaker 1: every single night. Sometimes nine, yeah, sometimes nine, but usually
- 29:24Speaker 1: nine thirty is like my happy medium. It used to
- 29:27Speaker 1: be ten, and I don't know, I just felt like
- 29:29Speaker 1: lately I wanted to get an extra thirty minutes asleep
- 29:33Speaker 1: because sleep is also something I've been working on this year,
- 29:36Speaker 1: is trying to have longer sleeps because I feel like,
- 29:40Speaker 1: I don't know, I just sometimes I feel like I
- 29:42Speaker 1: have like on and off sleep patterns, which I think
- 29:45Speaker 1: is obviously very normal, but I'm trying to just really
- 29:49Speaker 1: work on having longer RESTful sleep. So I'm trying to
- 29:54Speaker 1: go to bed a little bit earlier, and right now
- 29:56Speaker 1: nine thirty has been like my perfect timing to go
- 29:59Speaker 1: to bed at, which literally sounds so crazy to say
- 30:01Speaker 1: that out loud, because I think people are gonna think
- 30:03Speaker 1: I'm crazy for going to bed at nine thirty, because
- 30:05Speaker 1: it's like, how are you tired? But I don't know.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I am, like, I'm starting to be tired at nine thirty,
- 30:10Speaker 1: And I think it's because when you consistently go to
- 30:14Speaker 1: bed at the same time, and you consistently kind of
- 30:16Speaker 1: like have this unwind routine, your body naturally just like
- 30:20Speaker 1: knows when to fall asleep. I don't know, I don't
- 30:23Speaker 1: know if that makes sense. I think it makes sense,
- 30:24Speaker 1: but naturally, I just feel like I start to get
- 30:26Speaker 1: tired at that time, and that's I think because I've
- 30:29Speaker 1: just been consistent with going to bed at the same time.
