- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:12Speaker 2: This week on your Gavel Gavel. If you're in your
- 0:15Speaker 2: roommate sure a one bedroom apartment and her boyfriend comes
- 0:18Speaker 2: over and they start bumping uglies while you're in the room,
- 0:20Speaker 2: can you just move out? Judge mill Yon dips it low.
- 0:24Speaker 1: And if you go to Hawaii for your brother's wedding
- 0:27Speaker 1: and you find out that he's already married, can you
- 0:30Speaker 1: get your money about boy?
- 0:31Speaker 2: How Judge Row tells us real people, old cases, sake justice.
- 0:35Speaker 2: This is hi everybody now, it's.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Great to be bat uh Two brand new cases, Devil Dance,
- 0:46Speaker 1: Frigle Dance Dance, the TV Courtroom shows from around the world. Yeah,
- 0:51Speaker 1: that's what we do typically America.
- 0:53Speaker 2: We've been, We've been to Britain, we have been to
- 0:55Speaker 2: England's been Folly Old London, Old foggy Old. That's the one. Please.
- 1:02Speaker 1: We would love for you to do that. And we're
- 1:04Speaker 1: just thrilled to be backwards. Yeah, we're talking about cornum crazies.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I would like to go first because I love first.
- 1:10Speaker 1: This one's it gets sad pretty quick. I know, it
- 1:12Speaker 1: sounds solid, I know, and that's how it pulled me in.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And then by the time it was over, I was like,
- 1:18Speaker 1: this is really sad, like not the vibe that I'm going.
- 1:22Speaker 2: But here we go. You're going.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Iris Pittman is suing her brother, Grant Pittman, for twenty
- 1:29Speaker 1: one hundred dollars. Yeah, I know, it's always that's always tough,
- 1:34Speaker 1: but for travel expenses. Iris is upset with her brother.
- 1:39Speaker 1: She went to his destination wedding in Hawaii. Uh it
- 1:44Speaker 1: was beautiful. But while at the wedding, you know, she's
- 1:49Speaker 1: hanging out, she's having a good time, and she gets
- 1:51Speaker 1: to talking to Grant's best friend, and Grant's best friend says,
- 1:56Speaker 1: you know they're they're already they're already married. You great,
- 2:00Speaker 1: your brother and his wife they're already got married. And
- 2:03Speaker 1: turns out that they had been married for eight months.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Tyrus is upset about this for a couple of reasons. One,
- 2:12Speaker 1: she thought that her brother was her best friend. You know,
- 2:14Speaker 1: they grew they grew up together, that anybody, they tell
- 2:17Speaker 1: each other any everything, and so it hurts that I
- 2:21Speaker 1: didn't know that. And then I have to go and
- 2:23Speaker 1: I spend twenty one hundred dollars to go to Hawaii
- 2:26Speaker 1: of all places, and uh so she's hurt by that
- 2:30Speaker 1: obviously hurt that he kept it from her, but also
- 2:33Speaker 1: is hurt by the twenty one hundred dollars.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It feels like it feels fake now.
- 2:36Speaker 1: It feels like, you know, this is a party that
- 2:38Speaker 1: I didn't really need to attend because you already did
- 2:40Speaker 1: the thing. And so we find out that he got
- 2:44Speaker 1: married in Chicago, and she's like, that's where I live.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I could have been there the day that they did,
- 2:52Speaker 1: celebrating with them. Instead, I had to spend the twenty
- 2:56Speaker 1: hundred dollars to go all the way to Hawaiian and
- 2:58Speaker 1: she wouldn't have gone.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know the question.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I think her point here is, you know she she does,
- 3:07Speaker 1: she doesn't know she would have.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Got but if the brother went, hey, we actually got
- 3:09Speaker 2: married to the Justice of the Peace eight months ago,
- 3:11Speaker 2: but we're doing this as a celebration for her family,
- 3:13Speaker 2: She's not going. She's probably still going.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I think it's the you know, like feeling hurt, feeling excited,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and feeling like maybe bamboozled it.
- 3:21Speaker 2: She feels it's a twenty one dollar bamboozle. How she feels.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Judge Rosk asks if the ceremony uh you know it
- 3:29Speaker 1: was it actual ceremony or was it adjustice of the
- 3:32Speaker 1: peace situation?
- 3:33Speaker 2: And Graham says it's adjusted of the peace situation.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Judge rossk asks the reason why they did that, and
- 3:39Speaker 1: here's where we're it's gonna get sad and uh yeah,
- 3:45Speaker 1: this I don't know. Uh, this could be like how
- 3:48Speaker 1: do you do trigger warnings a t W if you will,
- 3:52Speaker 1: but uh, I just if you don't want to be sad,
- 3:56Speaker 1: Uh skipcuse your ship, your kid. So Judge Ross asked
- 4:03Speaker 1: why they did that and Grant says, well, Iris doesn't
- 4:06Speaker 1: know this, but my girlfriend who's now my wife, obviously, Uh,
- 4:12Speaker 1: we found out that she was pregnant and we decided
- 4:15Speaker 1: that we were going to go ahead and get get
- 4:17Speaker 1: married Ti the knot And Iris is like, are you
- 4:21Speaker 1: kidding me? Why wouldn't you tell me this? And Grant says, well,
- 4:25Speaker 1: after we eloped, she had a miscarre O my goodness,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and we didn't want to talk about that. Didn't really
- 4:33Speaker 1: think you know, so we just kind of wanted to
- 4:36Speaker 1: go and have the ceremony as planned, celebrate our marriage,
- 4:39Speaker 1: which is very real with our family, but we didn't
- 4:43Speaker 1: want to bring everybody in on that. Uh. So, as
- 4:47Speaker 1: you can imagine, Iris Is is a bit uh taken
- 4:51Speaker 1: aback by this news.
- 4:54Speaker 2: She want to just withdraw her clean.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Well she should, so, Iris said, you know, you could
- 5:01Speaker 1: have you could have leaned on me for any situation.
- 5:05Speaker 1: But I understand, I guess wanting to keep that situation
- 5:08Speaker 1: to yourself. And Judge Ross says, say it again. She says,
- 5:12Speaker 1: I understand, like it's personal. I can understand. Judge Ross says,
- 5:17Speaker 1: you know, what would you have done in this situation?
- 5:20Speaker 1: She's like, well, me and my brother were very different people.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I I would have surrounded myself with people that I love,
- 5:26Speaker 1: but he is very different.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And so she's bad or she's suing for what she
- 5:30Speaker 2: considers to be not great communication. Yes, that's like.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Bombs bombs, yeah, and so uh that's what I would
- 5:39Speaker 1: have done, but he didn't do that, and so.
- 5:43Speaker 2: You know that's that and so Judge Ross is ready
- 5:45Speaker 2: to rule. Yeah, I judge, this is classic, like Judge
- 5:48Speaker 2: Ross's therapist, which is like my favorite. Judge Ross has
- 5:51Speaker 2: got a version. Uh, you know, the judgment has fallen
- 5:54Speaker 2: favor the defendant. He didn't communicate with you, but that
- 5:57Speaker 2: doesn't mean he doesn't love you. That doesn't mean that
- 6:01Speaker 2: you're not privy to that information. You're not privy to
- 6:03Speaker 2: that information. That's probably something like that.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Judge Ross is a little bit more passive aggressive about it.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Oh so this is what Judge Ross.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Okay, Judge Ross says, do you want to continue with
- 6:14Speaker 1: asking that your brother give.
- 6:16Speaker 2: You Yeah, you got to withdraw that.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Back to pay for the trip to Hawaii that you
- 6:21Speaker 1: went on to celebrate his marriage during a really difficult
- 6:24Speaker 1: time in his life.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Do you want to continue with that? What did she say?
- 6:27Speaker 2: She said, no?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, so the case is withdraw and h In
- 6:32Speaker 1: the after show, she says that she's sorry, and he says,
- 6:36Speaker 1: it's okay.
- 6:38Speaker 2: How about a positive ending at the end. It's a
- 6:40Speaker 2: positive ending at the end of the day. It is tough.
- 6:42Speaker 1: It's a struggle, but these are cases that really do happen,
- 6:47Speaker 1: and so say it can all be fun in games.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Sometimes they're serious with serious.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Things that go on in people's life, and so that's
- 6:55Speaker 1: why that's that's what you gotta do.
- 6:57Speaker 2: But a tough case.
- 6:58Speaker 1: But I think for all, a good outcome as good
- 7:02Speaker 1: as you can hope in a situation like that. But
- 7:04Speaker 1: sometimes it's a good reminder that even if it's families,
- 7:07Speaker 1: sometimes it's none of your business.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Sometimes business let let people communicate the way they want to, yes,
- 7:13Speaker 2: the way they want.
- 7:14Speaker 1: If they are going to share with you, they will
- 7:16Speaker 1: share with you in their right time.
- 7:17Speaker 2: E dirrectly right, Dana, All right, let's go over to
- 7:20Speaker 2: the People's court with Judge Million. Let me introduce you.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Do you tip it low? Bring it up slow? All right? Uh?
- 7:30Speaker 2: Nicoletta Longo sure Italian suing for three months rent twenty
- 7:36Speaker 2: seven and thirty dollars from Natalie Noriega Nicoletta Longo Natalie Nordriega.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Nicoletta says, uh, we me and Nat were friends in
- 7:47Speaker 2: high school. She calls her Nat. The whole time. We
- 7:49Speaker 2: went to the same college in Boston. Freshman year we
- 7:52Speaker 2: roomed together. So friends in high school roomed in a
- 7:55Speaker 2: single dorm in college together remain friends. After a full
- 7:58Speaker 2: year living together in one dorm, they went this is
- 8:01Speaker 2: working out great. Sophomore year, we decided to get an
- 8:04Speaker 2: apartment together off tame one bedroom apartment.
- 8:07Speaker 1: There's nothing like college friends. I wouldn't know, but there's
- 8:09Speaker 1: nothing like the college.
- 8:11Speaker 2: One bedroom apartment. Twin beds in one bedroom so they
- 8:14Speaker 2: basically are still sharing a sleeping space, one living room,
- 8:18Speaker 2: one kitchen, so they have equal share of the bedroom.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Got it so far? Yeah, I got it so far.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Everything is great. They're paying nine hundred and ten dollars
- 8:26Speaker 2: a month each each. That's where we get twenty seven
- 8:29Speaker 2: to thirty three months. Yeah in Boston. Yeah, eighteen hundred
- 8:32Speaker 2: and twenty bucks a month one bedroom. This you know,
- 8:35Speaker 2: it seems fairly recent. Uh, things couldn't have been going better,
- 8:39Speaker 2: according to Nicoletta. Then Judgementyon says, so what happened? And
- 8:42Speaker 2: she says, around early December December, we started to have
- 8:45Speaker 2: like some petty little arguments and our lives are just
- 8:49Speaker 2: going in different directions. And I'm more of a neat
- 8:51Speaker 2: freak and she's a little mess here. And we knew
- 8:54Speaker 2: we knew that freshman year, we knew that about each other,
- 8:57Speaker 2: but it just seemed to get worse. And Judgement youanga, look,
- 9:00Speaker 2: I read all your text messages already, you submitted text messages.
- 9:03Speaker 2: It's passive, aggressive, and it's it's a lot. She's like,
- 9:07Speaker 2: what are we doing with this? Like Nicolette is constantly
- 9:09Speaker 2: like are you going to pick up or whatever? And
- 9:11Speaker 2: Natalie's like, I'm working a double. I don't have time
- 9:13Speaker 2: for this. It's very very back. So let's go to
- 9:16Speaker 2: Natalie Trouble in Paradise a little bit. Natalie says, I
- 9:19Speaker 2: completely understand. Uh, you know, like being messier and I
- 9:26Speaker 2: am messier. But prior to those text messages, Uh, there's
- 9:30Speaker 2: actually an incident where things started to turn and it
- 9:33Speaker 2: has nothing to do with me being messier. We Uh.
- 9:37Speaker 2: She went to Virginia for four days. Nicoletta went to
- 9:40Speaker 2: Virginia for four days. I was working two jobs.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Can I ask you something really quick because I've I've
- 9:46Speaker 1: heard some stuff about Virginia and you're gonna be able
- 9:48Speaker 1: to confirm this or not, but I've actually heard that
- 9:50Speaker 1: Virginia primarily its function uh is it's mainly for lovers.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It is for lovers. And I can't wait for you
- 9:58Speaker 2: to meet Virginia.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Yeah, she spoke a pack of day.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Wow.
- 10:02Speaker 2: No, I'm sorry, that's me anyway. She You're gonna love
- 10:07Speaker 2: you can't wait. I'm just telling you.
- 10:09Speaker 1: And can I just say this really quickly to the
- 10:11Speaker 1: Virginia out there? Yeah, Santa Israel, Yes, I think we
- 10:16Speaker 1: got all.
- 10:19Speaker 2: So she says, Uh, she decided to go to Virginia
- 10:22Speaker 2: for four days over the weekend, like on a trip,
- 10:24Speaker 2: like a leisure trip. I'm working two jobs, double shifts
- 10:28Speaker 2: and going to school, and we had the dog. Million
- 10:32Speaker 2: goes the dog and she goes. So when we decided
- 10:35Speaker 2: to get her own place, her uncle said, if we
- 10:37Speaker 2: got an apartment, he'd buy us a dog. So he
- 10:39Speaker 2: bought us a dog. And Million goes, what a terrible idea.
- 10:43Speaker 2: She says it out loud, what a terrible idea. And
- 10:47Speaker 2: Natalie's like, what kind of big we do? I don't know,
- 10:51Speaker 2: but Natalie's like, yeah, technically it was half mine, but
- 10:53Speaker 2: her uncle paid for the dog. The papers are in
- 10:56Speaker 2: her name. It's her dog. And when we stopped living together,
- 11:00Speaker 2: I knew she was going to keep the dog, so
- 11:02Speaker 2: it was really her dog. We split fees on the dog,
- 11:06Speaker 2: like I bought half the food vet bills, like, we
- 11:08Speaker 2: split it down the middle. But she goes to Virginia
- 11:11Speaker 2: for four days. I'm working double shifts, two jobs. I
- 11:15Speaker 2: was working all day long, and I asked her before
- 11:18Speaker 2: she left in text messages that I'm submitting, can you
- 11:21Speaker 2: coordinate getting the dog taken out? Have people come over
- 11:24Speaker 2: take out the dog. It's a six month old puppy.
- 11:27Speaker 2: It needs to be out pretty regularly. You know my schedule.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You decided to go to Virginia. Can you do that?
- 11:35Speaker 2: And at this point Million goes, this is why sophomore
- 11:37Speaker 2: shouldn't own dogs, and Natalie's like, yeah, you're right. But
- 11:41Speaker 2: Nicoletta got really upset about the questions. She got very
- 11:44Speaker 2: mad at me. She had her mom drive up from
- 11:46Speaker 2: a different town and get the dog and was really
- 11:49Speaker 2: upset that I couldn't take the care of the dog
- 11:51Speaker 2: by myself. And when she got back, she fad, that
- 11:54Speaker 2: sounds like they she did figure it out, though she did,
- 11:57Speaker 2: but then after that happened, she began facetiming her boyfriend
- 12:02Speaker 2: and complaining about me all the time while I was
- 12:04Speaker 2: there like just like going, yeah, and then you know,
- 12:07Speaker 2: Natalie leaves a mess here, Natalie blah blah blah, and
- 12:09Speaker 2: I'm like literally right there in the house the whole time,
- 12:13Speaker 2: and I just looked at her, and I finally went,
- 12:14Speaker 2: are we going to be roommates and not friends? Let
- 12:17Speaker 2: me know, and so I can I can just proceed
- 12:21Speaker 2: accordingly because our lease was up in August, That's what
- 12:24Speaker 2: she said, and then basically Nicoletta didn't respond, and she said, so,
- 12:29Speaker 2: I told her I was going to move out in May.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Is Nicoletta saying any like refuting any of this about
- 12:34Speaker 1: the dog or thee okay.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Nothing, just lets it fly. She goes, so I moved
- 12:38Speaker 2: out in May. And Million goes, but your lease isn't
- 12:41Speaker 2: until August. End doesn't until August thirty. First, what happened?
- 12:45Speaker 2: And she goes, well, in February, I gave her three options.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Number one, she could take me off the lease, which
- 12:52Speaker 2: she refused. And Million's like, why would she do that?
- 12:54Speaker 2: You're on the lease. Why would she assume the payments
- 12:56Speaker 2: just to be a nice person? She clear you guys
- 12:58Speaker 2: clearly don't like each other. Why would she do that?
- 13:00Speaker 2: And and Natalie's like, well, her boyfriend had been living
- 13:04Speaker 2: there more than two days a week. Oh interesting. And
- 13:08Speaker 2: and I'd wake up and I'd see him there in
- 13:10Speaker 2: my room. There he's showering there, and uh, Million goes,
- 13:15Speaker 2: but this wasn't a problem until you guys stop started fighting.
- 13:18Speaker 2: And she goes, well, I think that's what tested it.
- 13:21Speaker 2: But he also started staying over way more. He was
- 13:23Speaker 2: there all the time. Million's like, how'd that work out
- 13:27Speaker 2: with one bedroom? How did that? And she goes, you
- 13:29Speaker 2: know what I'm trying to say, And Nicoletta just was like, yeah,
- 13:32Speaker 2: he stayed in the room and we did whatever. And
- 13:36Speaker 2: she didn't have any issue with that until we started fighting. Uh,
- 13:39Speaker 2: And she's like, but wasn't it awkward? Like no tie
- 13:42Speaker 2: on the door, blah blah blah. And then Nicoletta goes
- 13:45Speaker 2: in the dorm freshman year when she had a boyfriend.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I had to listen to them do more than I
- 13:50Speaker 2: ever wanted to. So it's not like I'm the only
- 13:52Speaker 2: person that brought a boy over and we did anything
- 13:54Speaker 2: in a room that she was also in.
- 13:56Speaker 1: And people are just like different, yeah, right, like different
- 14:00Speaker 1: operate differently than I would.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Natalie says, your honor, there's a big difference in having
- 14:04Speaker 2: your college boyfriend stay over in your college dorm during
- 14:07Speaker 2: and evening and then go back to his dorm. Then
- 14:11Speaker 2: there is having your boyfriend from New Hampshire come to
- 14:14Speaker 2: your apartment in Boston and live there for three straight days.
- 14:18Speaker 2: That is not the same thing. Million does agree with that,
- 14:23Speaker 2: So we have text that she's moving out in February.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Nicoletta responds that she wait what were the three options.
- 14:28Speaker 2: We're gonna get there. Okay, we got sidetracked here, but
- 14:30Speaker 2: it was an important sidetrack. Uh. Nicoletta basically responds, you
- 14:34Speaker 2: can move out, I don't care you still just pay
- 14:35Speaker 2: your rent and just has a shrug face emotion basically,
- 14:39Speaker 2: And then now I moved out in May fifteenth and
- 14:43Speaker 2: millions do you guys miss each other at all? And
- 14:44Speaker 2: Nicoletta is like, I mean, I missed the times we
- 14:46Speaker 2: had together, but I don't think it's gonna work out
- 14:48Speaker 2: in the future, and they pan over to Natalie and
- 14:49Speaker 2: Allie's like this, so like it's over over, there's no
- 14:55Speaker 2: lovel offs here. That's tough. My mind's like, it's just
- 14:58Speaker 2: kind of go ahead.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I was just gonna say, to be clear, she said,
- 15:02Speaker 1: you can move out, just keep paying the rent all
- 15:04Speaker 1: the way through August shrug face emoji. And she chose
- 15:08Speaker 1: to move out. So it sounds like to me at least,
- 15:12Speaker 1: that that was the plan she was going to continue
- 15:16Speaker 1: to pay.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Well, no, she Natalie didn't want to pay after she
- 15:18Speaker 2: leaves met in May. The argument is the the rent
- 15:21Speaker 2: of June, July, and August. That's what we're arguing, right,
- 15:25Speaker 2: So Uh, Million's like, it's kind of sad. Your name's
- 15:28Speaker 2: on the lease. Why don't you think you have to pay.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It's sad your friendship is over, but your name's on
- 15:32Speaker 2: the lease. And she said, you're honor. In February, I
- 15:34Speaker 2: said I'd be leaving in May. I gave her favorite
- 15:37Speaker 2: to March March, April, April May. I gave her three
- 15:38Speaker 2: months notice, and I said her boyfriend could take up
- 15:41Speaker 2: the lease. Her father, who's been paying the entire lease
- 15:44Speaker 2: for her side anyway, her father's in court. Her father
- 15:47Speaker 2: pays all of her bills. He could pay all of it,
- 15:50Speaker 2: or you can take me off the lease, or you
- 15:51Speaker 2: can like fid like figure it out. But I'm giving
- 15:54Speaker 2: you three months. This isn't working for me. And she says,
- 15:59Speaker 2: did you tell you could find a sub letter? And
- 16:01Speaker 2: she said, I did offer that we could find a
- 16:04Speaker 2: sub letter. She said that, uh. And he and Million said,
- 16:09Speaker 2: your boyfriend did move in and is paying rent now? Correct.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Nicoletta says, yes, oh, he's paying rent now, but I
- 16:16Speaker 2: have a letter that says he was paying somewhere else
- 16:19Speaker 2: during the three months that I had to pay the
- 16:23Speaker 2: total of the rent. And Natalie did not on her
- 16:25Speaker 2: her three months, so Nicoletta has the paperwork here she does.
- 16:30Speaker 2: She says, you can see the text right after uh
- 16:36Speaker 2: that she said. Nicoletta says John is sleeping over whenever
- 16:39Speaker 2: I want him to, and I'm not paying your half
- 16:41Speaker 2: of the rent. She says that exact thing in a
- 16:43Speaker 2: text message. She acknowledges that he's there all the time,
- 16:47Speaker 2: and Natalie goes, you're on her. I know my name's
- 16:48Speaker 2: on the least, but he was there too all the time.
- 16:51Speaker 2: She acknowledges he's there all the time and his name
- 16:54Speaker 2: wasn't on the least. This is a fun, fun case
- 16:57Speaker 2: for her old dad over there. Yeah listen, and in
- 17:00Speaker 2: having to go down right, he's he just is like smiling.
- 17:03Speaker 2: That's life. I just paid for my daughter daughter's bills.
- 17:05Speaker 2: That's life. I get to listen to that. Well. Shout
- 17:08Speaker 2: out John, Shout out John, Shout out John. Shout out
- 17:11Speaker 2: to the two of them. I'm sure you all are
- 17:12Speaker 2: crushed right out there, but like, yeah, yeah, judge, Yeah,
- 17:18Speaker 2: this is a tough one. Tough one.
- 17:20Speaker 1: I vaguely recall some case from last year where something
- 17:26Speaker 1: similar happened and someone was able to get away with
- 17:29Speaker 1: it because they gave a long enough notice. So a
- 17:35Speaker 1: three month notice is a pretty long time. My you know,
- 17:40Speaker 1: problem with it is your bad vibes don't doesn't trump contract,
- 17:46Speaker 1: and so your name is on contract through whatever the
- 17:50Speaker 1: month was. And so just because you didn't like it,
- 17:52Speaker 1: there does it unless there's, say I don't like it
- 17:55Speaker 1: there clause in your contract. I think that you are
- 17:59Speaker 1: legally obligated to pay that money, but I'm in I
- 18:02Speaker 1: could I just vaguely remember there being some sort of
- 18:05Speaker 1: legal clause where if you you can, you can get
- 18:08Speaker 1: out of something if you give a long enough thing.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I don't know for sure, though, And so I'm gonna
- 18:12Speaker 1: go with my guy here and just say contract trump's
- 18:15Speaker 1: bad vibes, and so she's gonna have to pay.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Uh. Yeah, you're basically right what Million said. What you're
- 18:23Speaker 2: talking about is is when you give notice to a
- 18:27Speaker 2: property ownership group, they can only make you pay the
- 18:30Speaker 2: least for a reasonable amount of time it would take
- 18:32Speaker 2: for them to find a new own reasons, typically two months. Okay.
- 18:36Speaker 2: For this case, Million says, you have to either prove
- 18:39Speaker 2: that you were constructively evicted from your own apartment so
- 18:42Speaker 2: your living space and somehow wasn't your living space, or
- 18:46Speaker 2: you have to prove that you tried unsuccessfully to find
- 18:51Speaker 2: a subletter like someone that would lease it you have.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I think you could make.
- 18:56Speaker 1: The argument that John coming over whenever you want to
- 18:59Speaker 1: isn't is in living.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Basically, she doesn't have any documentation aside from one text
- 19:03Speaker 2: that says he's coming over whenever I want That's all
- 19:06Speaker 2: she has, and so he what what Millyon says is
- 19:08Speaker 2: is that the problem is is with the evidence that
- 19:11Speaker 2: we have. What it looks like as you guys were fighting,
- 19:15Speaker 2: all of a sudden, John coming over now matters. School
- 19:18Speaker 2: ends in May. Your lease is through August. You don't
- 19:22Speaker 2: have to be there anymore, so you're not gonna be
- 19:24Speaker 2: That's what it looks like, is what it looks like.
- 19:26Speaker 2: And so once again mill Yon, probably the best of
- 19:29Speaker 2: all the judges, says, was there a security deposit? Nicoletta says, yes,
- 19:32Speaker 2: there was. It was one thousand dollars. So she splits
- 19:35Speaker 2: the security deposit in half. She goes, you have you
- 19:38Speaker 2: owe her the rent twenty seven thirty minus the five
- 19:40Speaker 2: hundred security. The security in either twenty two thirty is
- 19:44Speaker 2: what you owe Nicoletta. Great case I think that's fair. Yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 2: now is Melie.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I'm saying here that if she had proven that John,
- 19:52Speaker 1: like if she had a journal or proof that John
- 19:55Speaker 1: was over there.
- 19:58Speaker 2: She had asked her to stop she was being constructively evicted,
- 20:02Speaker 2: she could have a better interesting.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Very interesting to U. Two interesting cases today. Hopefully you
- 20:08Speaker 1: enjoyed them. We're gonna be back next time with two more.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Hopefully you'll come back. Until then, all rise.
