- 0:04Speaker 1: NFL Power Rankings is a production of the NFL in
- 0:07Speaker 1: partnership with I Heart Radio. The Welcome to the NFL
- 0:15Speaker 1: Power Rankings podcast presented by energizers Still going, Well, not true, Connie,
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm Dan Hansas, Colleen Will because we're not gonna be
- 0:24Speaker 1: still going because this is the season finale of Power
- 0:28Speaker 1: rank Anything is over and done. Now we've reached the
- 0:33Speaker 1: NFL no now goes into a quiet, respectful hibernation until September.
- 0:39Speaker 1: That's how this works, right, That's when we'll come back.
- 0:42Speaker 1: You know. That is how not how the NFL machine works.
- 0:45Speaker 1: But this podcast, which we thank everyone who is watched
- 0:49Speaker 1: and listened along all season, is reaching its conclusion fittingly. Connie,
- 0:53Speaker 1: after Super Bowl fifty seven, the old Zeuser, that's me.
- 0:58Speaker 1: After I got off the plane, um, Roger Goodell personally
- 1:02Speaker 1: shot me a text and said, son, I'm gonna need
- 1:05Speaker 1: five thousand words on one through thirty two. Roger Adell
- 1:08Speaker 1: as your dad in some ways he is. He's not
- 1:11Speaker 1: my dad, and he's my daddy on some level. So
- 1:13Speaker 1: I cranked it out. It's up on the website. You
- 1:15Speaker 1: can check it out at NFL dot com, slash Power
- 1:17Speaker 1: Rankings and now, Connie, we will talk about the final reveal.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And obviously the Chiefs were triumphant in the Super Bowl
- 1:26Speaker 1: fifty seven over your Philadelphia Eagles in a all time classic.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I would put it in the top ten all time
- 1:32Speaker 1: super Bowls. Not the Before we go through the top ten,
- 1:36Speaker 1: I just want to top eight. I want to check
- 1:38Speaker 1: in with you, Connie. Where are you at emotionally? I mean,
- 1:42Speaker 1: things were going pretty well obviously for the Eagles, and
- 1:44Speaker 1: then they weren't. Level of disappointment one at a ten
- 1:48Speaker 1: and you can go up to his high seventy seven. Well,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I wish I could give you a level, but I'm
- 1:53Speaker 1: completely dead inside, so it's not really there's no reading
- 1:56Speaker 1: on it at this point. Yeah, listen, I the fact
- 1:59Speaker 1: that I'm here right now just a husk. My body
- 2:01Speaker 1: is here physically, but I don't know where the rest
- 2:03Speaker 1: of me is. It's not with us, No, it's you know,
- 2:06Speaker 1: the the Eagles. They took a piece of me with
- 2:09Speaker 1: that game, and I left it at State Farm Stadium.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Can I ask you, in terms of most difficult Eagles losses,
- 2:15Speaker 1: is it the toughest one? This was very disappointing because
- 2:18Speaker 1: of the game flow and the way that the Eagles
- 2:21Speaker 1: looked coming out of the game, and the entire first
- 2:24Speaker 1: half they looked so great. And it was interesting because
- 2:28Speaker 1: I sat in a section that was both Chiefs and
- 2:32Speaker 1: Eagles fans, and everyone was pretty nice in the section,
- 2:35Speaker 1: but it was a lot of disappointed Chiefs fans, a
- 2:37Speaker 1: ton of Eagles fans just chirping and celebrating, and then
- 2:42Speaker 1: the tide shifted and it was just so upsetting. Yeah,
- 2:47Speaker 1: and I was going to say we were both in
- 2:48Speaker 1: the stadium in different areas, but I thought it was
- 2:50Speaker 1: probably a sixty five thirty five breakdown in terms of
- 2:53Speaker 1: Eagles fans over Chiefs fans and the place there were
- 2:57Speaker 1: moments in a Super Bowl game. It's gotten to the
- 2:59Speaker 1: point in the Super Bowls that we've been to where
- 3:01Speaker 1: really is an active, loud crowd on both ends when
- 3:03Speaker 1: scores happened. But this game really did. Like the first
- 3:06Speaker 1: the Pachenko touchdown in the third quarter, it actually got
- 3:09Speaker 1: quiet and it was like, these are Eagles sas you
- 3:11Speaker 1: could sense the tension of realizing that Mahomes was starting
- 3:14Speaker 1: to Mahomes and things were slipping away. I'm sorry, but
- 3:18Speaker 1: that needs to be done. I did text you guys
- 3:21Speaker 1: you and Dan or you are Dan, Dan and Dan
- 3:25Speaker 1: and then inside correct, I am telling the truth. I'm
- 3:31Speaker 1: being completely tru I texted you guys in the middle
- 3:34Speaker 1: of that game and I was like, no matter what happens,
- 3:37Speaker 1: this isn't also Super Bowl. This game was so good
- 3:39Speaker 1: and the Chiefs, they looked incredible in that second half.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes, I thought that he was hurt at one point.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I didn't think that he was going to be able
- 3:46Speaker 1: to finish the game. And that was something that I
- 3:48Speaker 1: didn't want to see. I wanted both of these teams
- 3:50Speaker 1: to be full strength, and they were and minus the consitions,
- 3:54Speaker 1: and I know, I was like, I'm being the bigger person.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I want these teams to be like at full strength.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yea was a terrible um. Let's now check the first
- 4:07Speaker 1: eight teams in the final power rankings that are up
- 4:10Speaker 1: again at NFL dot com. Yes, the Chiefs and Kyle
- 4:13Speaker 1: Brandon has mentioned it last month and it is still
- 4:15Speaker 1: in the back of my mind. My last power rankings ever,
- 4:19Speaker 1: whenever that is, whenever Daddy deems it to be over
- 4:22Speaker 1: in this job, or if I say I literally can't
- 4:25Speaker 1: be yelled at on the internet any longer. I will
- 4:27Speaker 1: put the winner of the Super Bowl number two in
- 4:29Speaker 1: the power rankings. That that's how you go out, that's
- 4:32Speaker 1: how you bring that's how you get that cloud. But
- 4:35Speaker 1: not today. The Kansas City Chiefs are number one, and
- 4:39Speaker 1: I we had where they were at the start of
- 4:41Speaker 1: the regular season of the power rankings. So I, like
- 4:43Speaker 1: many others, were sucked in by the a f C
- 4:46Speaker 1: West and the idea that it was going to be
- 4:47Speaker 1: this big division with teams just beating each other up
- 4:50Speaker 1: and Tyreek Hill out the door. So but guess what
- 4:54Speaker 1: the Chiefs figured out there at one The Eagles another
- 4:56Speaker 1: team Connie is as as disappointing as it was back
- 4:59Speaker 1: in early September. You weren't sure really what to make
- 5:02Speaker 1: of them. I wasn't alone. I had them four team
- 5:05Speaker 1: to start the season. They ended number two, the Bengals.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I was highing them all year. They finished at number three, Niners,
- 5:11Speaker 1: number four, Bills five, Cowboys six up. They finished at seven,
- 5:19Speaker 1: and the Chargers eight ending the post Super Bowl power rankings.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Let's get into little Chiefs now. I mean, I I
- 5:27Speaker 1: think Connie um mahomes, what he was able to do
- 5:30Speaker 1: in the game and the reason they won. I think
- 5:32Speaker 1: was the greatest strength of the Eagles in a lot
- 5:35Speaker 1: of ways was that pass rush that had seventy eight
- 5:37Speaker 1: sacks and zero sacks in the Super Bowl. And once
- 5:39Speaker 1: you took away that, it was like removing the kryptonite
- 5:42Speaker 1: from that side of the ball, right And we knew
- 5:44Speaker 1: that that was going to be the way for the
- 5:46Speaker 1: Eagles to get a win, to beat Patrick Mahomes and
- 5:49Speaker 1: this offense because Patrick Mahomes was dealing with that ankle,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and then you saw that it was still very much
- 5:54Speaker 1: an issue when he was hit again and it was reaggravated.
- 5:57Speaker 1: But the pass rush on both sides, they just could
- 6:00Speaker 1: not get their footing on the field, and you saw
- 6:02Speaker 1: there was one I can't believe there was one play
- 6:05Speaker 1: in particular where both Josh Sweat and Hassan Reddick felt
- 6:10Speaker 1: like just slipped off on both ends and it happened
- 6:13Speaker 1: almost in concert. It was almost synchronized. And even Frank
- 6:16Speaker 1: Clark after the game said that the conditions were terrible,
- 6:18Speaker 1: like both teams had to play on it, which it
- 6:20Speaker 1: just it doesn't really make a ton of sense to me,
- 6:23Speaker 1: but I think that that was played a huge factor
- 6:25Speaker 1: in this game. And when you have the connection that
- 6:28Speaker 1: Mahomes has with Travis Kelsey, it just you're going to
- 6:31Speaker 1: be able to win, and you're going with Andy Reid
- 6:34Speaker 1: scheming things up and being so creative and having all
- 6:37Speaker 1: of the misdirection that they have to kind of confuse
- 6:40Speaker 1: this Eagles defense. It was an unbelievable comeback for the Chiefs. Yeah,
- 6:45Speaker 1: and down ten points at halftime. You know, they get
- 6:48Speaker 1: the defensive score off the Hurts fumble in the first half,
- 6:50Speaker 1: they kind of in the end kept them in the game.
- 6:52Speaker 1: And then what do they have to do to win
- 6:54Speaker 1: by three points? They needed to score every time they
- 6:56Speaker 1: had the ball in the second half, three touchdowns and
- 6:59Speaker 1: the go ahead field goal. They take the Super Bowl
- 7:01Speaker 1: and men and Mahomes. It's hard to believe, but he
- 7:05Speaker 1: recently turned and he's not going anywhere. And as long
- 7:08Speaker 1: as Mahomes is around a guy that is absolutely already
- 7:11Speaker 1: in the competition as the best quarterback ever. Andy Reid
- 7:14Speaker 1: now bumping into that conversation we talked about the greatest
- 7:17Speaker 1: coaches ever, Chiefs aren't going anywhere. And I think it
- 7:19Speaker 1: was a learning lesson for bozos like me and others
- 7:23Speaker 1: who kept overlooking what was going on here that Mahomes.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Even as recently as the last time we did this show,
- 7:29Speaker 1: Connie and I had the Chiefs at number four, and
- 7:31Speaker 1: I was all pumped up on Joe Burrow and the Bengals.
- 7:34Speaker 1: This is their time and it was just like, that's
- 7:36Speaker 1: why Kelsey screaming into the mic after the game, like,
- 7:39Speaker 1: you guys thought our time had passed, We're in our prime. Still,
- 7:41Speaker 1: this is their moment and they proved it. That was
- 7:43Speaker 1: the huge thing in the off season. Has the a
- 7:46Speaker 1: f C passed the Chiefs. Every team loaded up, they
- 7:49Speaker 1: figured out pass rushes, they have playmakers, and it seemed
- 7:53Speaker 1: like that division was going to be just such a
- 7:55Speaker 1: massive problem for everyone. And at the end of the day,
- 7:58Speaker 1: it was still the Chiefs that came out on top.
- 8:00Speaker 1: All right, as we look at elsewhere on the top
- 8:02Speaker 1: A what jumps out to you there, comell? I mean,
- 8:05Speaker 1: obviously the Jags. The Jags up twenty two points was
- 8:09Speaker 1: just I mean, when we we lost time. Now, by
- 8:12Speaker 1: the way for power Moves presented by Energizer, they're a
- 8:16Speaker 1: perfect team to talk about. The Jacks. Yes, and listen,
- 8:19Speaker 1: you you talked about at the beginning of the year,
- 8:22Speaker 1: so I feel like you had a big part in
- 8:25Speaker 1: their come up. Well, like, congratulations to you. It's a
- 8:29Speaker 1: good way to look at it. I will when we
- 8:30Speaker 1: get to the lower tier, I'm gonna throw out my
- 8:32Speaker 1: early prediction for who will be the Jaguars in the
- 8:35Speaker 1: back quadrant of the power rankings. But yeah, they're a
- 8:38Speaker 1: team that's set up obviously very well. I mean, your
- 8:41Speaker 1: boy Doug Peterson, who has that Super Bowl trophy with
- 8:44Speaker 1: the Eagles, has not obviously he's not my homes but
- 8:48Speaker 1: he has a young quarterback who's not going anywhere, and
- 8:50Speaker 1: they are still in that window where they could load
- 8:52Speaker 1: up in terms of free agent spending because Lawrence is
- 8:55Speaker 1: on an affordable contract. This is the window, and I
- 8:58Speaker 1: think you're gonna see the Jaguars basically be presented come
- 9:02Speaker 1: August as a heavy favorite in the out and getting
- 9:05Speaker 1: some Super Bowl buzz depending on how their offseason goes well.
- 9:08Speaker 1: They went on a five game win streak to finish
- 9:10Speaker 1: out the season, and Doug Peterson, he just had this team.
- 9:13Speaker 1: When you go from where they were before with Urban Meyer,
- 9:17Speaker 1: and then you bring in an actual head coach that
- 9:20Speaker 1: is a people person that cares about his staff, that
- 9:24Speaker 1: cares about his players, Doug Peterson. I'm just such a
- 9:27Speaker 1: big fan of him from having worked with him in Philadelphia.
- 9:30Speaker 1: This guy came in and is the perfect head coach
- 9:33Speaker 1: to work with Trevor Lawrence help him develop. We saw
- 9:36Speaker 1: him take those steps this year. We saw where his
- 9:38Speaker 1: potential can be and where he can go. Its future
- 9:41Speaker 1: is so bright. Of course, they have some defensive holes
- 9:44Speaker 1: that they need to fix, but they are in such
- 9:46Speaker 1: good shape going forward. And to just throw a little
- 9:49Speaker 1: bit of rain on the parade, okay, as it were,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I did write about Trayvon Walker. You know, he he
- 9:55Speaker 1: didn't make the difference that they were hoping in year one.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I know he was kind of touted as a highly
- 10:00Speaker 1: talented but raw player. But then when Aidan Hutchinson has
- 10:04Speaker 1: a big is the number two pick, and then Sauce
- 10:06Speaker 1: Gardner goes first team All Pro at cornerback at the
- 10:09Speaker 1: fourth pick to the Lions and Jets, respectively, you start
- 10:11Speaker 1: to think to yourself, as a fan of the team, man,
- 10:14Speaker 1: what do we got one of those dudes? So yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 1: there is that little element of it. You need Walker
- 10:18Speaker 1: to kind of live up to his draft stock, to
- 10:20Speaker 1: beef up that pass rush, which which is very necessary
- 10:24Speaker 1: and will be expected quite frankly, Walker, Let's check out
- 10:34Speaker 1: Tier two Lions. They are up sixteen spots from week
- 10:39Speaker 1: one to number nine, the Vikings up ten spots to ten,
- 10:43Speaker 1: the Ravens at eleven, Packers twelve. I don't know. This
- 10:48Speaker 1: is where it's Sometimes the timing of the power rankings
- 10:51Speaker 1: gets a little tricky. So how much was the rank
- 10:53Speaker 1: the Packers when the quarterback Hall of Fame quarterback is
- 10:57Speaker 1: literally in a retreat. Yeah, like isolation and solitary confinement.
- 11:05Speaker 1: What so I just stuck him in twelve? And then
- 11:07Speaker 1: will you know, let God sorted out for the darkness.
- 11:10Speaker 1: God's um. I guess that's sure. Hell, I don't know.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Steelers thirteen with a lot of promise. I felt that
- 11:16Speaker 1: was a little too high obviously as they made the list,
- 11:17Speaker 1: but they did finish the season well. The Giants at fourteen,
- 11:22Speaker 1: up fourteen spots week one, the Dolphins at fifteen, and
- 11:26Speaker 1: I got the Jets who opened the season for me
- 11:29Speaker 1: at twenty six. I have them up ten spots at sixteen.
- 11:31Speaker 1: And yes, you're like, oh, but Dan, like, they didn't
- 11:34Speaker 1: get that quarterback yet. Yeah, so I can't really project that,
- 11:37Speaker 1: but I can say they will get Elijah Bara Tucker back,
- 11:41Speaker 1: They'll get Briefe hallback. This team is one decent quarterback
- 11:44Speaker 1: away from being a contender in the a f C
- 11:46Speaker 1: and they swept the Rookie honors Offensive Defensive Rookie of
- 11:51Speaker 1: the Year. I mean, this team has great building blocks
- 11:53Speaker 1: that feel like Joe Douglass did such a good job
- 11:56Speaker 1: with these draft classes. So they just need to All
- 11:59Speaker 1: they need to do is get a quarterback right. The
- 12:00Speaker 1: only thing they didn't do right Zach Wilson at the
- 12:03Speaker 1: number two. They'll pick and they're trying to address that.
- 12:06Speaker 1: But I do I am not just because I am
- 12:08Speaker 1: a Jets fan, but I do think they will come
- 12:10Speaker 1: out of this when the dust clears, whether it is
- 12:12Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers my preferred guy that they get, or Derek
- 12:16Speaker 1: Carr or Jimmy Garoppolo or well let's leave it there,
- 12:19Speaker 1: I think they'll have one of those three guys, and
- 12:22Speaker 1: no matter who it is, that will be a big
- 12:24Speaker 1: upgrade of what they had last year. And when you
- 12:26Speaker 1: factor in the team getting healthier and any other editions
- 12:29Speaker 1: on the way, that's gonna make the Jets. I think
- 12:31Speaker 1: absolutely team that should make the plays and if they
- 12:33Speaker 1: don't people are getting fired ers. That's your number one
- 12:36Speaker 1: to brace the cast. Brace the cast. What about the Giants?
- 12:40Speaker 1: Since we're in talking New York teams, I have them
- 12:43Speaker 1: at fourteen after they want a playoff game. I was
- 12:46Speaker 1: a little bit and we talked about it in the
- 12:47Speaker 1: power Workings County. The run to the playoffs included beating
- 12:50Speaker 1: the Vikings twice, who are kind of posers. Let's face it,
- 12:54Speaker 1: you know they weren't a true elite team even though
- 12:57Speaker 1: the records said they were, and then they got absolutely
- 12:59Speaker 1: destroyed by your Eagles in the playoffs. So it's you know,
- 13:02Speaker 1: some of that you it makes you think, is this
- 13:03Speaker 1: team on the eyes or did they really take advantage
- 13:06Speaker 1: of a soft schedule? But they got business to take
- 13:08Speaker 1: care of first? With Daniel Jones and s Kwon Ball
- 13:11Speaker 1: free agents, well, I think that they definitely performed above
- 13:15Speaker 1: what people expected. This was supposed to be kind of
- 13:18Speaker 1: a rebuilding year with Brian day Ball coming in. They
- 13:21Speaker 1: it was basically a year where they just wanted to
- 13:23Speaker 1: answer some big questions that they had with I almost
- 13:27Speaker 1: called him Sae Kwon Jones with Daniel Jones and Seaguon Barkley,
- 13:30Speaker 1: but I think they got their answers. I mean, se
- 13:32Speaker 1: Kuan had an incredible year, so good for him. I
- 13:35Speaker 1: don't know what they're going to do, what their answer
- 13:37Speaker 1: is there, but I think that they got so much
- 13:39Speaker 1: out of Daniel Jones and that's a credit to Brian
- 13:42Speaker 1: day Ball. And you know, I'm not I don't know.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I think that they need to work on their offensive line.
- 13:47Speaker 1: They have a lot of work coming up in the draft.
- 13:50Speaker 1: But I think that they were a surprise this year.
- 13:52Speaker 1: For me. I didn't think that they would be as
- 13:53Speaker 1: good as they were. Maybe it's schedule, maybe it's luck,
- 13:56Speaker 1: maybe it's all of it. Yeah, and we got it.
- 13:57Speaker 1: We should touch on the Lions before we our Lions. Yeah,
- 14:00Speaker 1: before we move on, because our Lions are hard knocks team.
- 14:04Speaker 1: They they have our attention, they have the opponent's respect,
- 14:07Speaker 1: they had a winning season. There's a lot there's going
- 14:09Speaker 1: to be actual expectations this season. Had Jamal Williams was
- 14:13Speaker 1: on the Around the NFL podcast at Media Row and
- 14:16Speaker 1: he was a delight. I must say. I talked to
- 14:18Speaker 1: him as well super Bowl Live. Oh my gosh, what
- 14:22Speaker 1: a personality he has. And I actually talked to Jared
- 14:26Speaker 1: Golf and Aidan Hutchinson at Honors and we talked about
- 14:30Speaker 1: Jamal Williams and they were both like, yeah, that's how
- 14:32Speaker 1: that dude is all of the time, Like it never
- 14:35Speaker 1: turns off. He came out of that conversation thinking, how
- 14:37Speaker 1: does this guy kind of do like day to day life.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I mean, it must be really entertaining to be his friend,
- 14:44Speaker 1: like he legitimately he said, like, I don't do anything
- 14:46Speaker 1: but like watch anime and play video games and answer
- 14:50Speaker 1: the door for door dash And I said, and I
- 14:53Speaker 1: was like, yeah, like do you what about like do
- 14:55Speaker 1: you have a house. He's like, no, I'm not I
- 14:56Speaker 1: don't have a house. Like everything, it's just seems to
- 14:58Speaker 1: be in this this window. But then he had seventeen touchdowns,
- 15:01Speaker 1: so he's doing something right. He's got I mean, he
- 15:03Speaker 1: hasn't figured out I'm pretty sure. And then have the
- 15:05Speaker 1: lines figured out the quarterback situation. That's my big question
- 15:08Speaker 1: I wrote about in power Ranking. Scoff will be back
- 15:11Speaker 1: most likely. The offense is very good with him and
- 15:13Speaker 1: Ben Johnson, though See is also back, but they also
- 15:15Speaker 1: have two first round picks, including a sixth overall selection.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I wonder that's tough. I wonder if they do take
- 15:21Speaker 1: a quarterback. Welcome back to power rankings. Okay, so we
- 15:30Speaker 1: have a quad three. Let's check this out. At seventeen,
- 15:33Speaker 1: the Patriots up one spot from so you were. You
- 15:36Speaker 1: pretty much nailed dot at the really post Brady, they're
- 15:40Speaker 1: just kind of the middle of the road team are
- 15:42Speaker 1: waiting to see which way they'll go. Yeah, it didn't
- 15:45Speaker 1: go much at seventeen, only moved up one spot. But
- 15:48Speaker 1: you have an eighteen the Seahawks. Then at nineteen the Panthers,
- 15:52Speaker 1: who they have a lot of a lot of new
- 15:55Speaker 1: things going on there that they have to figure out.
- 15:57Speaker 1: The Rams at twenty down eighteen spots. Huge disappointment this year.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Let's get to them next. I want to talk about
- 16:03Speaker 1: that for sure. Twenty one the Browns. Same kind of
- 16:06Speaker 1: thing with the Patriots, only up one spot from where
- 16:08Speaker 1: you initially. Yeah, the Titans at two down five spots
- 16:13Speaker 1: after John Robinson had a lot of along the way
- 16:18Speaker 1: I am to the Bucks at twenty three down nineteen spots,
- 16:21Speaker 1: another big disappointment. And then the Raiders as well, they're
- 16:23Speaker 1: in that category to same bucket, down thirteen spots. That
- 16:27Speaker 1: was that was bad job by me and many other people.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Who thought the Raiders with Davante Adams were going to
- 16:32Speaker 1: make a big leap and instead it was kind of
- 16:34Speaker 1: the same old Raiders with Josh McDaniels. But yeah, let's
- 16:37Speaker 1: talk the Rams, because I wouldn't say that's misleading because
- 16:40Speaker 1: our fine producer Drew doesn't mislead anyone with his info.
- 16:44Speaker 1: They did have that huge fall year to year eighteen spots,
- 16:48Speaker 1: but they're also up seven spots since the final week
- 16:51Speaker 1: of the regular season, and that is because hell it's over.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Like that was a nightmare quote unquote title defense, one
- 16:58Speaker 1: of the worst ever. In fact, they had the worst
- 17:00Speaker 1: most amount of losses for any defending Super Bowl champion ever.
- 17:03Speaker 1: But you get to hit the reset button and Matthew
- 17:05Speaker 1: Stafford's already said he's back, Cooper Cup is going to
- 17:08Speaker 1: come back healthy. You're going to have on Aaron Donald
- 17:11Speaker 1: unless he retires, but I don't think he is. He'll
- 17:13Speaker 1: be back healthy, and I think almost most importantly, Sean
- 17:17Speaker 1: McVeigh is coming back. So where I have him now
- 17:20Speaker 1: is obviously a hedge because I have them in the
- 17:22Speaker 1: middle of the pack. And but at the same time,
- 17:24Speaker 1: when it's surprised me if they were back in the
- 17:26Speaker 1: top ten come next September October. No, it wouldn't know.
- 17:30Speaker 1: And I think after the Super Bowl last year, the
- 17:32Speaker 1: expectations are always high for whoever wins, but it was
- 17:35Speaker 1: just such a drop off from what we're used to
- 17:38Speaker 1: with this team. And when von Miller didn't come back,
- 17:41Speaker 1: you thought, Okay, maybe the pass rush could be a
- 17:43Speaker 1: problem this year, but they'll figure it out. And it
- 17:46Speaker 1: just seemed to be doomed from the very beginning from
- 17:49Speaker 1: that Week one game and the Bills just crushed them.
- 17:55Speaker 1: And I remember m J d was on our show
- 17:58Speaker 1: that day and he does the radio for the RAMS broadcast,
- 18:01Speaker 1: and he was talking so much before the show and
- 18:04Speaker 1: then he came down so I mean, he was wearing
- 18:08Speaker 1: his Super Bowl ring, he had the whole thing, and
- 18:11Speaker 1: then afterwards it was extremely deflating for him and of
- 18:15Speaker 1: course all Rams fans all over the place. The whole
- 18:17Speaker 1: season was but it felt like it was over halfway
- 18:20Speaker 1: through the season, Like I felt like their year ended
- 18:23Speaker 1: almost in October. It felt like yeah, and they once
- 18:26Speaker 1: again did try to move number one picks to get
- 18:29Speaker 1: a pass rusher during the season, and that trade actually
- 18:32Speaker 1: didn't happen. And it's like Okay, that's not the worst thing.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Can we just I know, I know. The whole part
- 18:37Speaker 1: of the less need Sean McVeigh thing has been just
- 18:40Speaker 1: keep on putting on the credit card, if you will.
- 18:43Speaker 1: But at some point you're gonna have to start developing
- 18:44Speaker 1: players via the draft and getting some premium picks back
- 18:47Speaker 1: in that building or it's going to be a hard crash.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Maybe they could start doing it this year. Quad for
- 18:53Speaker 1: the last quad the season. Okay, we got the Commanders.
- 18:59Speaker 1: They didn't take a ton of commands. Sierra up five
- 19:02Speaker 1: spots to say it's a twenty six, and they did,
- 19:06Speaker 1: but they failed at twenty six. They have some quarterback
- 19:10Speaker 1: questions of their own that they need to answer this offseason.
- 19:13Speaker 1: The Falcons at seven, up four spots. Once again, they
- 19:16Speaker 1: had so many of those like close games where they
- 19:18Speaker 1: just couldn't get it done. Broncos at eight. Everyone thought
- 19:24Speaker 1: the Broncos would be good Wholf Sean Payton. Maybe Sean
- 19:29Speaker 1: Payton can do something with Russell Wilson. He is he
- 19:34Speaker 1: and Wilson will probably be their quarterback this year, but
- 19:37Speaker 1: if he stinks again, he is playing somewhere else, almost
- 19:40Speaker 1: certainly in Peyton will pick his guy. So this obviously
- 19:43Speaker 1: is a huge and the Broncos had started the season
- 19:46Speaker 1: at eight and they end the season at Cardinals at
- 19:51Speaker 1: nine down spots, and then you have the Texans down
- 19:55Speaker 1: three at thirties, so they stayed pretty consistent along with
- 19:58Speaker 1: the Bears up one spot thirty one, and then the
- 20:00Speaker 1: Colts are the final team in the rankings did last
- 20:03Speaker 1: at thirty two. Actualation. Shane Stike in the new head
- 20:07Speaker 1: coach of the Cults, the former offensive coordinator. He goes
- 20:11Speaker 1: from putting up thirty five points in almost four hundred
- 20:13Speaker 1: twenty yards in the Super Bowl to taking over a
- 20:16Speaker 1: team that really had devolved into a laughing stock of
- 20:19Speaker 1: the UH this past season. But there are some pieces there.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Now I'm going to share though, the team that I
- 20:23Speaker 1: think can make the jump. Do I think they'd make
- 20:26Speaker 1: the jump the way the Jags did into the like
- 20:28Speaker 1: top ten? I'm not there, but my pick is the
- 20:31Speaker 1: Atlanta Falcons. As you pointed out, there were seven and ten,
- 20:35Speaker 1: and I know that's back to back losing seasons for
- 20:37Speaker 1: Arthur Smith since he took over. But I believe that
- 20:39Speaker 1: Smith has this team with limited talent, had them competitive.
- 20:43Speaker 1: They won more games than anyone expected each of the
- 20:45Speaker 1: past two years. Tyler arld Geer is a running back
- 20:47Speaker 1: they could get behind Kyle Pitts obviously in Drake London
- 20:50Speaker 1: are a great one to punch. They just need a quarterback.
- 20:53Speaker 1: And I'm working under the assumption that, like the Jets,
- 20:56Speaker 1: they will come out of this with a veteran quarterback.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I know there's some chatter that we believe in Desmond Ritter. Now,
- 21:01Speaker 1: I think Arthur Smith knows how the NFL works. You
- 21:04Speaker 1: get three years, no matter how bad the program is
- 21:07Speaker 1: when you take over, you're getting by that third year,
- 21:09Speaker 1: if you haven't made the playoffs, you're in a lot
- 21:11Speaker 1: of trouble. He's not going to go down with Desen Ritter.
- 21:13Speaker 1: That's my my thinking. They're gonna get a guy in.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Here's I'll thrown out there. And I feel good about
- 21:17Speaker 1: this because I threw it out there in Good Morning
- 21:19Speaker 1: Football in Shrager. You know, shrag bombs all plugged in.
- 21:22Speaker 1: He nodded his head and said, Wow, Okay, Ryan Tannehill,
- 21:25Speaker 1: Arthur Smith reunion, all those big years in Tennessee. He moves.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I know the Tennessee Titans are looking potentially move forward
- 21:33Speaker 1: without Tannehill put him in Atlanta in that week NFC South.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I'm feeling good about the Falcons win a nine or
- 21:38Speaker 1: ten games. I don't mind that. I'd actually like to
- 21:41Speaker 1: see that, you know what. I also want to go
- 21:43Speaker 1: through the league and look at the teams that have
- 21:46Speaker 1: questionable quarterback situations and rank those teams. All right, let's start,
- 21:50Speaker 1: all right, but there are so many, and we just
- 21:55Speaker 1: passed out behind the glass. You could say, I mean,
- 21:58Speaker 1: you have the Falcons, you have the Panthers, you have
- 22:01Speaker 1: the Saints, you have the Jets. I mean it's almost
- 22:03Speaker 1: like this time of or half the league sometimes feels
- 22:06Speaker 1: like quick, we're gonna do teams that don't have an
- 22:10Speaker 1: answer at quarterback in the top eight. Guess what. Every
- 22:12Speaker 1: team has an answer at quarterback in Tier two. Lions
- 22:17Speaker 1: got to figure that potential. The raven potentially the Ravens.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Ravens h No, Lions have a guy. Jared Daniel Jones
- 22:25Speaker 1: is probably still the guy. The Giants to us healthy.
- 22:28Speaker 1: The Jets obviously that's one. The Patriots maybe they got. Maybe,
- 22:33Speaker 1: the Panthers obviously need one, the Titans they might need one,
- 22:36Speaker 1: The Bucks need one, the Raiders need one. And your
- 22:40Speaker 1: point is spot on Connie because then you go to
- 22:42Speaker 1: the fourth year the commander's name. The Saints need one,
- 22:45Speaker 1: the Falcons need one, The Broncos might need one. The
- 22:48Speaker 1: Cardinals need one for at least half the season most likely.
- 22:51Speaker 1: The Texans Bears no Bears are okay, but they could
- 22:54Speaker 1: trade field. Colts need one. So the teams without quarterback stabilities,
- 22:59Speaker 1: that's the league, that's what it's about. And um, the
- 23:02Speaker 1: Lanta Falcons, they can go into it with Desmond Ritter,
- 23:05Speaker 1: but I think they gonna be a much better team
- 23:07Speaker 1: if they get somebody that can has some sex, you know,
- 23:10Speaker 1: real track record of success. Yeah, we have the thoughts.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Just what a year it's been. You know, I've on
- 23:16Speaker 1: it now. I am. I have never been involved this,
- 23:19Speaker 1: involved in power rankings before. And I feel like I
- 23:22Speaker 1: took the ride. I took the ride with you, and
- 23:25Speaker 1: it was a roller coaster for sure. That's what it is.
- 23:28Speaker 1: You know, you can't get too high like the team's
- 23:31Speaker 1: you know, you can't get too high and too low.
- 23:33Speaker 1: You got to kind of keep a nice, steady take.
- 23:35Speaker 1: My my dad, Keith was with you before the I
- 23:39Speaker 1: have a daddy, it okay that works on Park Avenue
- 23:42Speaker 1: and a dad. He's like, Colleen, you do Power Rankings
- 23:47Speaker 1: with Danny great, But you did do a great job college.
- 23:52Speaker 1: There was a lot of fun than this road. Thank
- 23:54Speaker 1: you to Drew and everybody behind the glass for taking
- 23:57Speaker 1: us through this wild adventure, the road through each season
- 24:01Speaker 1: it is over. We'll catch you as Towy three season approaches.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Until then, you know what you gotta do. Heed the call.
