- 1:06Theresa: Today at the table is Lisa Atkinson.
- 1:09Theresa: She's a life influencer who helps women survive the unimaginable to rediscover who they are and reclaim their life back.
- 1:17Theresa: Lisa, thank you so much for being here.
- 1:20Lisa: Thank you for having me.
- 1:22Theresa: Yes, you went the extra mile,'cause like I said,"Well, let's do it.
- 1:26Theresa: Let's do the interview.
- 1:27Theresa: Can you wait 30 minutes?" And then it was 30 minutes and computer.
- 1:31Theresa: So this is really exciting because you've got a story, and I just want you to gently walk us through it.
- 1:36Theresa: Because I think in your story are some clues for some women who may either be in the position you were in and just realize, wait a minute, there's more to life.
- 1:47Theresa: So take me back.
- 1:49Theresa: At 19, you watched- I- you love have an accident, Randy.
- 1:55Lisa: Yes.
- 1:55Theresa: Talk about that.
- 1:57Lisa: Yeah, so, um, you know, I grew up the little girl that loved Jesus always.
- 2:02Lisa: I, I had a great upbringing.
- 2:04Lisa: But in my- around 16, I had some events that kind of thwarted me in another direction.
- 2:10Lisa: Mm.
- 2:10Lisa: And in that process, I ended up meeting a man who, um, I was not equally yoked with.
- 2:16Lisa: He was somebody that was broken, but I loved him immensely.
- 2:20Lisa: Mm.
- 2:21Lisa: Mm.
- 2:21Lisa: And as I look back now, I know that God put a special love in my heart for him, and he equipped me with everything I needed to love him.
- 2:28Lisa: So I have no doubt- Yeah where he is now.
- 2:30Lisa: But yeah, so on that day, um, I was all by myself, 2,000 miles away from my family.
- 2:36Lisa: And, um, my, um, s- the man that I ended up marrying, ended up being my husband, at that time we were not married, but, um, he overs- he oversaw, um, his family had a lot of mining companies, et cetera, et cetera.
- 2:50Lisa: Mm.
- 2:50Lisa: And he oversaw one of their pits.
- 2:52Lisa: And so we were in Phoenix, and, um, he was overseeing a conveyor belt that would crush rocks that would make gravel for Maricopa County.
- 3:00Lisa: Yeah.
- 3:00Lisa: And it was Sunday morning, and they were working overtime because of the, um, the order, and the labor didn't show up.
- 3:08Lisa: So my husband, he showed up, and he did- the, he turned the machine on and, and did the things that he shouldn't have, which- Mm included shoveling underneath the debris out from underneath the conveyor belt.
- 3:21Lisa: Oh.
- 3:21Lisa: Yeah.
- 3:22Lisa: And, um, and so the shovel was caught.
- 3:26Lisa: Mm.
- 3:26Lisa: And just, just in seconds, um, the sh- the shovel just began to do this, and it was hitting at him, and he had to make a choice.
- 3:34Lisa: And he literally, you know, most people, such an amazing man, most people would have just blacked out, gone into shock.
- 3:40Lisa: Um, he was very muscular, very healthy.
- 3:43Lisa: He literally put his leg up against the, the machine to stop himself from going in, and'cause it, that, that's what happens with that- Mm kind of a machine.
- 3:52Lisa: And, um, and he ended up being able to, um, to not go in, obviously.
- 4:00Lisa: Wow.
- 4:00Lisa: And shortly in that time period, um, help did come.
- 4:04Lisa: And, um, he, he was air vac'd to four different hospitals before they could take him because of his- Okay O negative blood and the extremity- Yeah of the accident.
- 4:16Lisa: And so yeah, so I'm home, and I get a phone call from another foreman.
- 4:22Theresa: Mm.
- 4:22Lisa: And I didn't know if he was alive, I didn't know if he was dead, I just knew there was an accident and somebody was coming to get me and to take me to find him.
- 4:30Lisa: I, I didn't even know what hospital he was in.
- 4:32Lisa: And so yeah, that was kind of the start of a, a lot of other things in my life.
- 4:38Theresa: Yeah.
- 4:38Theresa: Did he lose his arm?
- 4:40Lisa: Yes, yes.
- 4:41Lisa: Oh.
- 4:42Lisa: Um, it actually, it, it, it was, when they got to him, it was still connected, but it was- Yeah so mangled.
- 4:50Lisa: They tried to save it.
- 4:52Lisa: Uh, it, it, they actually, it actually took part of his ribcage out as well.
- 4:56Lisa: And so in order to save his life, they took all those nerves and muddled them into a place right here.
- 5:03Theresa: Okay.
- 5:03Lisa: And this was rebuilt with bones from his arm and ribcage and, and a lot of bolts.
- 5:11Lisa: He had a, a steel bolt that extended out for a long time.
- 5:15Lisa: Wow.
- 5:15Lisa: And, um, so that was, you know, they built a little bit of a, a raise up here.
- 5:21Lisa: Yeah.
- 5:22Lisa: Um, but yeah.
- 5:23Theresa: She's pointing to her shoulder, those of you who are listening, just'cause they can't see.
- 5:27Theresa: So- Oh,
- 5:28Lisa: I'm sorry.
- 5:29Theresa: No, don't be sorry.
- 5:30Theresa: Uh, you ha- you, you retell that story with such clarity, uh, w- which we'll lead to later, but I can see that you've walked through this with some healing.
- 5:40Theresa: So you went ahead and built a marriage, a family, business, while you private- b- while he was dealing with the chronic pain, but you were like his caregiver.
- 5:51Theresa: You were his wife.
- 5:53Theresa: You were his problem solver.
- 5:55Theresa: It just all fell on you.
- 5:57Theresa: Tell us about that.
- 5:59Lisa: So I have always been a bit of an entrepreneur, and he was too.
- 6:05Lisa: So it was natural for us to do the things that we both love to do together.
- 6:10Lisa: Yeah.
- 6:10Lisa: And, um, you know, for us, we, we, um Uh, we just, we built companies together and, you know, um, sadly- Yeah sa- as amazing as it is, I mean, we built them and we lost them.
- 6:25Lisa: Mm-hmm.
- 6:25Lisa: I mean, we just, we had a series of, it was a pattern that just continuously repeated and, uh, we would, we would build a company and, and be successful and pour all that we had into it and then- Yeah something, something would take it from us.
- 6:39Lisa: And it usually, it would be, um, a series of things that was connected to his injury.
- 6:45Lisa: And, you know, um, I found that there, uh, there was a, a point, actually both of our companies, I had to be so involved in them because he had such chronic pain that- Mm-hmm um, he didn't know if he may or may not be at work the next day.
- 7:02Lisa: So- Sure I, I carried for a long time between two companies- Yeah where I didn't just need to know what I needed to know, but I had to be privy to everything that he did.
- 7:15Theresa: Hmm.
- 7:16Lisa: Um, my son said that, um, pride is not considered a, a good, uh, trait, but in my husband's situation it was, because it's what kept him alive- Yeah and it's what, it kept him going, and in this situation he, he was prideful in that he didn't want people to know how much he hurt.
- 7:37Lisa: Oh, geez.
- 7:37Lisa: Or what he went through.
- 7:39Lisa: And, and he would even get upset at me if, if I in any way, you know, let others, other people know that.
- 7:45Lisa: But that was- Yeah a lot of pressure.
- 7:46Lisa: It was a lot- Yeah it was a lot to just cover and to just hide, and, and it, it just, it, it just became like everything was a secret.
- 7:52Lisa: People weren't allowed to know- Yeah that he endured what he endure, en- endured and, and, you know, and then later on, you know, and actually not that much later on, but, you know, he, he had to have, uh, he had to take, uh, pain medication.
- 8:06Theresa: Right.
- 8:06Lisa: And so that became another leg of our journey is because he was al- allowed to be an addict.
- 8:12Lisa: Mm-hmm.
- 8:12Lisa: And, um, you know, we, we grew up in the opioid period where- Yeah and so he regularly took for, for over 30 years, he would take, uh, 980 milligrams of OxyContin a day.
- 8:26Theresa: That's, um...
- 8:27Lisa: And that was just his standard pain medication.
- 8:31Lisa: Yeah.
- 8:32Lisa: And, and then he had breakthrough medication, and so-
- 8:34Theresa: Wow
- 8:35Lisa: um, there was a lot, there was a lot that went through that, and there was a lot of mood shifts and mood changes and things I needed to know, and the pressure to know that.
- 8:44Lisa: And- Yeah um, and to still, I don't know, I just, I, he, I just, I, I didn't ever want to dishonor him in any way.
- 8:52Lisa: I, I wanted to build what we were building together.
- 8:55Theresa: Yeah.
- 8:55Theresa: But what pressure.
- 8:56Lisa: And that was- You
- 8:58Theresa: know, having to cover is so hard, I know that.
- 9:02Theresa: Mm-hmm.
- 9:03Theresa: Um, so then- You lost him.
- 9:06Theresa: What, when did that happen?
- 9:08Lisa: So, um, it's been about five years now.
- 9:12Theresa: Okay.
- 9:13Lisa: And, yes, and so, um, he went from being very strong and very intelligent.
- 9:21Lisa: I, I believe, I believe that God had an anointing on his life to start companies.
- 9:26Theresa: Wow.
- 9:27Lisa: And I, I believe that, I believe that we together, with my gifts and his, his gifts, were meant to be kingdom builders.
- 9:35Theresa: I love that.
- 9:35Lisa: Um-
- 9:36Theresa: That's powerful
- 9:36Lisa: uh, so, um, unfortunately, um, as time progressed, he, he, I drew closer to God, and he drew further from God.
- 9:47Theresa: Yeah.
- 9:47Lisa: And so that, as you can imagine, what that did to our family and our relationship.
- 9:53Theresa: Sure.
- 9:53Lisa: And, um, so he, he, um, he really got to the point where, um, he was a different person.
- 10:02Theresa: Yeah.
- 10:02Lisa: And- Sorry um, I, I saw a lot of things spiritually.
- 10:08Theresa: Yeah.
- 10:08Lisa: Um-
- 10:09Theresa: Yeah
- 10:09Lisa: that I always laugh.
- 10:11Lisa: I, I got my deliverance training in my own home.
- 10:13Lisa: I said
- 10:14Theresa: so.
- 10:14Theresa: I did,
- 10:15Lisa: cause- That's right there was, there was, there was something there that- Yeah didn't like me and the God in me at all.
- 10:20Theresa: Oh,
- 10:21Lisa: no.
- 10:21Lisa: And- That's
- 10:21Theresa: so
- 10:21Lisa: hard but yet, but it wasn't really him.
- 10:24Lisa: It was- Yeah you know, and to, to recognize that and to just, I just, I'm just grateful that, not always,'cause I'm, I'm certainly not a saint.
- 10:32Lisa: I'm, I, I, you have to know I'm strong-willed, so I stood up a few times and had to.
- 10:36Lisa: Good.
- 10:36Lisa: But-
- 10:37Theresa: Yeah
- 10:37Lisa: but, um, but, you know, God gave me the ability to just love him for who he really was.
- 10:41Lisa: That's good.
- 10:42Lisa: And that's who I saw.
- 10:43Theresa: Yeah.
- 10:43Lisa: And, and, and there was a breaking in me.
- 10:46Lisa: It's like- I feel like I learned to love the unlovely.
- 10:48Lisa: Wow.
- 10:48Lisa: And- Yeah and, um, you know, it was in a lot of ways, it was even to my own, um, I mean, it was, many people didn't understand and many times- Yeah I didn't either.
- 10:48Lisa: But I- The medicine was, the, all that medicine stuff was, was really what was starting to bring the change- Yeah and the,'cause it's not- Yes like
- 11:11Theresa: he was naturally that way, but being in pain does, makes people act different, let alone, so.
- 11:17Lisa: Yes.
- 11:19Theresa: So that's- That's, that's hard to deal with that.
- 11:22Lisa: But that's what you'd asked me.
- 11:23Lisa: I'm sorry.
- 11:24Lisa: That's what's so hard about my story is there's so much around it.
- 11:27Lisa: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:27Lisa: But, but you asked how.
- 11:29Lisa: So he, he passed away five years ago.
- 11:32Lisa: Um, he was brought to a point where he was not gonna be given any more pain medication.
- 11:38Theresa: Wow.
- 11:38Lisa: And, and, and, yeah, and that was as you, was just as you said.
- 11:44Lisa: And so he was forced to make some decisions, and, uh, the insurance company required that he would find a, a rehab.
- 11:52Lisa: And, um, they don't, they don't make a rehab for people who have real pain.
- 11:58Theresa: Yeah.
- 11:58Lisa: You know, when, when you go to a- They don't when you go to a rehab, they don't, they, they take everything from you.
- 12:04Lisa: And, and-
- 12:04Theresa: Yeah
- 12:05Lisa: and so he went, and, um, he went to what's called a rapid detox, and I dropped him off on a Sunday and, and thought I'd be picking him up on Thursday, and, um, on Wednesday he passed away.
- 12:21Lisa: He-
- 12:22Theresa: Oh, wow
- 12:22Lisa: they, they did the procedure and, um, he didn't, he, he just went, his heart couldn't take it.
- 12:29Theresa: Wow.
- 12:30Lisa: And so, uh, he didn't come home.
- 12:32Theresa: Yeah.
- 12:33Lisa: So.
- 12:34Theresa: And what was that moment like?
- 12:36Theresa: After all you had p- put your life into his, helping him and trying to run two buildings, what, what was, what was that, did, well, how did that affect you?
- 12:46Lisa: I'll tell you,
- 12:47Theresa: I watched- That's a tough question to ask you, but you're a g- I
- 12:50Lisa: really,
- 12:51Theresa: I really got dark your brilliance, your brilliance is showing, your anointing is showing, so.
- 12:57Lisa: Um, I had a really hard time with it because the day of his accident, um, I was given a promise.
- 13:05Lisa: I, I audibly, audibly heard God.
- 13:09Lisa: And, um, you know, those are the moments you always remember.
- 13:12Lisa: Sure.
- 13:12Lisa: Um, but we hear God, but that day I, I heard God.
- 13:17Theresa: Okay.
- 13:17Lisa: And I, I've had that happen I think twice in my life.
- 13:21Lisa: Mm.
- 13:21Lisa: And one of those, that was one of the days.
- 13:23Lisa: And, and what I heard him say is that,"The enemy has come to kill, steal."
- 13:27Theresa: Mm.
- 13:28Theresa: Jesus.
- 13:29Theresa: Yeah.
- 13:31Theresa: Yeah.
- 13:31Lisa: And we know how that goes.
- 13:33Lisa: Um, but He said,"I will get the glory."
- 13:35Theresa: Yeah.
- 13:36Lisa: And so-
- 13:37Theresa: Come on
- 13:37Lisa: I feel, I feel like-
- 13:39Theresa: Oof
- 13:40Lisa: like God had me hear that audibly because I would have to believe that for a long time.
- 13:44Theresa: Sure.
- 13:44Theresa: Yeah.
- 13:45Lisa: And that helped, that helped me be able to walk- Ooh.
- 13:48Lisa: Yeah the way that I walked.
- 13:49Theresa: Yeah.
- 13:50Lisa: So when the day came that I didn't see it possible that God could keep that promise, um, I, I did.
- 13:58Lisa: I, I went really dark.
- 13:59Lisa: I did.
- 14:00Theresa: Sure.
- 14:00Lisa: And, um, I, I went through a process with that, and- Mm-hmm um, and I probably still am going through a process of that, where things that I, I once thought and believed are, are a little bit different now.
- 14:12Lisa: Yeah.
- 14:12Lisa: And-
- 14:13Theresa: Wow
- 14:13Lisa: and, and how we can take our own perspective and put it on a promise.
- 14:18Theresa: Yeah.
- 14:18Lisa: And, and then the other side of that is that, you know, that is, that is the book that God had written for him.
- 14:24Lisa: It was a good book.
- 14:25Lisa: It was a book- Yeah where we would walk in those things.
- 14:29Lisa: But, you know, we all have to choose to walk in those things.
- 14:33Lisa: Yeah.
- 14:33Lisa: I was choosing to walk in those and, and he wasn't.
- 14:37Lisa: Mm.
- 14:37Lisa: Hard.
- 14:38Lisa: And, and so, um, you know, God's not gonna take your will from you.
- 14:42Theresa: Right.
- 14:43Lisa: But yet I feel in my time of healing that God showed me that in his last moments-
- 14:49Theresa: Yeah
- 14:49Lisa: that He came into that room and, and He asked him, He said,"You know, Randy, I can, I can heal you right now and you can go home and be with Lisa, or you can go home with me."
- 15:00Theresa: Mm.
- 15:01Lisa: And w- we know how that went.
- 15:03Theresa: Yeah,
- 15:03Lisa: yeah.
- 15:03Lisa: And, and, you know, even in that I had anger.
- 15:08Theresa: Sure.
- 15:08Lisa: Because I- No doubt wanted him to come home.
- 15:11Theresa: Sure.
- 15:11Lisa: And, um, and I, I don't know how many times, and especially the first two or three years, I just stopped and looked up and screamed,"Why didn't you just come home?" That's
- 15:20Theresa: right.
- 15:21Lisa: You
- 15:21Theresa: know?
- 15:22Theresa: I love that y- I love the, I love this part, but you can tell the truth without betraying yourself or anyone else for that matter.
- 15:29Theresa: And I think, I think God loves that.
- 15:31Theresa: And I think that even though it's painful, I think that probably helped you heal- Because you're being real with your, how you feel.
- 15:39Theresa: A lot of people stuff it down and p- and, and think about something else.
- 15:43Theresa: But I guess that's part of your ministry or part of your work.
- 15:48Theresa: Is that wh- do you help women with that?
- 15:50Theresa: Is that kind of turned into that?
- 15:53Lisa: Do you know, I have really, I have learned that, um People walk through grief differently.
- 16:01Theresa: Uh-huh.
- 16:02Lisa: And I think what God had for me in the last five years after living for 30 years in that role was just learning to love me for a while.
- 16:13Theresa: Okay.
- 16:13Lisa: Mm.
- 16:13Lisa: And I wasn't a- I wasn't allowed to, I wasn't a- I, I had to lay down a lot of my own dreams and passions- Sure for His.
- 16:21Theresa: Wow.
- 16:22Lisa: And so I am now, I'm just now, um, I, I couldn't even speak about it for a long time because there was lawsuits as a result of his death.
- 16:30Theresa: Oh, okay, okay.
- 16:31Lisa: And, uh, so I'm just now to the point where I can.
- 16:35Lisa: And so, yeah, I want to share my story.
- 16:36Lisa: I want to share his story- Yeah.
- 16:38Lisa: Awesome because he deserves, he deserves the honor of, of what he's walked through.
- 16:43Lisa: I mean- Yeah.
- 16:44Lisa: Amazing it's amazing.
- 16:45Lisa: And it gives- Yeah it does, it does give God glory, you know?
- 16:48Theresa: It does, Lisa.
- 16:49Lisa: It does.
- 16:50Theresa: No, no doubt.
- 16:50Theresa: Lisa, I want you to tell us about your, uh, vision of three giant spiders.
- 16:56Theresa: Oh, yeah.
- 16:56Theresa: I'd love to hear that,'cause that's real.
- 17:00Lisa: So in my early 30s, um, uh, I don't know, you know, we all go through spiritual times where we, we may have more gifts than another.
- 17:10Lisa: And-
- 17:10Theresa: Oh, yeah
- 17:11Lisa: I, I, I would see a lot.
- 17:14Lisa: And, um, I, uh, I, I had sat up in my bed, and where the ceiling and the wall met-
- 17:22Theresa: Okay
- 17:23Lisa: I saw, I saw three spiders.
- 17:26Theresa: Yeah.
- 17:26Lisa: And they weren't, they were, like, large.
- 17:31Theresa: Yeah.
- 17:32Lisa: And, um, obviously they weren't- Large.
- 17:34Lisa: Yeah, they weren't, they weren't real.
- 17:36Lisa: Yeah.
- 17:36Lisa: Um, and they were connected, and the one in the front had a large horn.
- 17:39Theresa: Okay.
- 17:40Lisa: And I, I didn't really know for, or an understanding of why for a long time, you know, what that meant.
- 17:48Lisa: But, you know, I, I feel like what He's shown me is that each one of those represented a part of my life that the enemy was trying to destroy.
- 17:58Theresa: Yeah.
- 17:58Lisa: And they were all connected.
- 17:59Lisa: So, like, when I mentioned earlier that we would build businesses and we would lose businesses- Yeah we'd lose homes, we would lose cars.
- 18:06Lisa: So we would, we would build,'cause the favor and the anointing was on our lives.
- 18:11Lisa: Um, but then the enemy would come.
- 18:13Lisa: Yeah.
- 18:13Lisa: And so th- the spider, one, one represented the accident-
- 18:18Theresa: Okay
- 18:19Lisa: which tried to kill and destroy.
- 18:21Theresa: Yeah.
- 18:21Lisa: And then the other that followed was, um, another injustice that was a part of our life, which I- Okay I haven't, haven't gone into.
- 18:29Theresa: That's fine.
- 18:30Lisa: Um, and then, um, the last one is what naturally happened as a result of both of those.
- 18:36Lisa: Mm.
- 18:36Lisa: You know?
- 18:37Lisa: And it, how it affected our finances, it affected our marriage, it affected our family, it affected, it, it, it took, it stole.
- 18:45Lisa: And so what we built would, would, would be taken from us.
- 18:49Lisa: And- You know, as I look back, um, I- I'm very sympathetic to tragedies and traumas in people's lives.
- 18:58Lisa: But I've had to ask God to help me to be compassionate at times.
- 19:01Lisa: Sure.
- 19:01Lisa: Sure.
- 19:01Lisa: You know, to whom much is given, much is required.
- 19:04Lisa: And, um, you know, any one of those alone would have taken us out, and yet how He still kept us.
- 19:13Theresa: Yes.
- 19:14Theresa: Yes.
- 19:14Lisa: And, and, uh, and, um-
- 19:18Theresa: That's why, that's why I wanted you to go ahead and, and go through that vision with us because, uh, if you're on YouTube, you see it too.
- 19:25Theresa: You are just glowing with a resilience and, I wanna say, toughness that God You just see God in it.
- 19:34Theresa: Even through this t- rough stuff you've gone through, being the, the wife by her husband's bedside as long as she could.
- 19:42Theresa: Um, managing companies.
- 19:44Theresa: Goodness, I remember, uh, my husband didn't deal, deal with this commercial guy well, and so he put me on the job.
- 19:52Theresa: Overnight.
- 19:52Theresa: I remember just like,"This is not my place." Mm.
- 19:55Theresa: I wasn't as in cahoots with my husband as you are with yours.
- 19:59Theresa: But I know that all of that messes with your mind, but-
- 20:03Lisa: Mm-hmm
- 20:03Theresa: what I see is your diligence through the years just to have a relationship with God.
- 20:10Lisa: Mm-hmm.
- 20:10Theresa: It was your staying point.
- 20:14Theresa: That, that's just amazing.
- 20:16Theresa: And, like, are you writing a memoir?
- 20:20Theresa: Are you going to?
- 20:22Lisa: So I've always known I was to, so- Okay I, I am, um, I'm a little bit, um, overachiever.
- 20:30Theresa: Okay.
- 20:31Theresa: Okay.
- 20:31Lisa: And, um, and so I would start and I would stop because I knew- Okay that I, I couldn't really be true authentic because I would bring dishonor.
- 20:41Theresa: Sure.
- 20:42Lisa: And
- 20:42Theresa: so I would s- Tell me if it wasn't this too, though.
- 20:44Theresa: Tell me if it wasn't this, Lisa.
- 20:46Theresa: You were still, you got, you were trying to speak from your scars, okay, but the wounds were still maybe festering.
- 20:53Theresa: Yeah.
- 20:53Theresa: And so that made it even harder to speak and harder to write.
- 20:57Theresa: Is that correct?
- 20:58Lisa: Oh, yes.
- 20:59Lisa: Yeah.
- 20:59Lisa: Yes.
- 21:00Lisa: Yeah.
- 21:00Lisa: Even, even after my husband passed- Yeah because I, what, what God directed me to do is, is I just collected my journals.
- 21:08Lisa: All the days, like, of things that happened.
- 21:10Lisa: Okay.
- 21:10Lisa: Yeah.
- 21:10Lisa: And then they were, they, they were ugly and, you know.
- 21:13Lisa: Yeah.
- 21:13Lisa: And he told me, he's like,"Don't worry about putting them in order." Mm-hmm.
- 21:16Lisa: And he just showed me how to just drop them into a blog, and he said- Oh, good figure that out later.
- 21:20Lisa: And I'm s- I'm still doing that, and I have that.
- 21:22Lisa: And so, yes, that, that is what I'm doing.
- 21:25Lisa: But right after Randy passed, I, I kept hearing that.
- 21:28Lisa: He just kept saying,"Write, write." Yeah.
- 21:30Lisa: It's so good.
- 21:31Lisa: "Write your story.
- 21:32Lisa: Write.
- 21:32Lisa: You have a story to tell.
- 21:33Lisa: Write it." Oh, so
- 21:33Theresa: good.
- 21:34Theresa: Write.
- 21:34Theresa: That's so good.
- 21:35Lisa: And then I would sit down and I would write it, and then I would get really dark and depressed because I was- Okay reliving it.
- 21:41Theresa: Sure.
- 21:42Lisa: And I would just walk away.
- 21:43Theresa: It's hard to write about that when it's so-
- 21:45Lisa: Yeah.
- 21:46Theresa: Yeah.
- 21:46Theresa: Oh.
- 21:47Lisa: Yeah.
- 21:48Theresa: I think that it's also healing, though.
- 21:49Theresa: There's something about journaling.
- 21:52Theresa: Uh, yeah.
- 21:53Theresa: I, I asked God, um, two years after my husband passed, I said,"How was I able to fight for my voice and, because amidst of just an abusive 26 years?" And he said two things.
- 22:05Theresa: One, you remained in my presence, which meant- Mm-hmm in his presence, I would journal.
- 22:09Theresa: And then he said, two, you learned to create the way I create.
- 22:13Lisa: Mm.
- 22:14Theresa: And how I did it is I would write, um, listen to the Vinedresser.
- 22:18Theresa: I couldn't conjure him up, and he'd just sweep in.
- 22:22Theresa: So I see you the same way, how you're healing, how God's like just so proud of you.
- 22:29Theresa: You're creating the way he creates.
- 22:32Theresa: And God have- Mm who has a more gross, gruesome story than his own son dying on the cross?
- 22:37Theresa: Mm-hmm.
- 22:38Theresa: But Lisa, you're creating the way God creates, and your story would giving women hope.
- 22:47Theresa: Yeah.
- 22:48Theresa: Thank
- 22:48Lisa: you.
- 22:48Theresa: What's your, what's your d- b- beside the memoir, what's like your desire to be more visible, to help more people?
- 22:54Theresa: Do you have like a desire in there?
- 22:57Lisa: So I, I want to speak.
- 23:00Theresa: Yeah.
- 23:01Lisa: I, I mean, I, I, I'm, I, I'm a preacher.
- 23:05Theresa: Yeah.
- 23:06Lisa: Yeah.
- 23:06Lisa: Um, and, um, I- Yeah.
- 23:09Lisa: So I, I want to speak, and I want to share, and I'm doing that creatively.
- 23:16Lisa: I'm working on a platform where, um, I am creating, and my memoir will probably just be on there.
- 23:25Theresa: Sure.
- 23:26Lisa: Um, so- Yes there's that.
- 23:28Lisa: And the What I've been working on this last week, I've also worked on all my life, is, um, you know, there's so many women that have had to make choices in their life that were not the right choices because they didn't have the financial ability.
- 23:43Theresa: Okay.
- 23:43Theresa: Okay.
- 23:44Lisa: Um, you know, in my life with my husband, he, he, uh, could be very mean.
- 23:50Lisa: Um, and there was times God would pick me up and remove me- Yeah and, and take me somewhere to heal.
- 23:55Lisa: Yeah.
- 23:56Lisa: And you know, I, I can remember, um, him making statements like,"If, if you don't like it, you can leave."
- 24:03Theresa: Oh.
- 24:03Theresa: And
- 24:03Lisa: then he would take my keys and take my purse and-
- 24:06Theresa: I heard that
- 24:07Lisa: you know.
- 24:07Theresa: Yeah, that's I've heard that.
- 24:09Theresa: That's very abusive on your heart.
- 24:11Lisa: Yes.
- 24:11Lisa: Yeah.
- 24:11Lisa: And so, you know, I've, I For years I've cried out,"God, give me a way that I can help other women that have been in that same place, that- Right they're not forced to because they're not relying on that unhealthy person in that," you know?
- 24:24Lisa: Yes.
- 24:24Lisa: Yes.
- 24:25Lisa: And so the other leg of, the other leg of what I'm working on is, is a little bit, I don't know, it used to be untraditional, but I'm, I'm really looking at doing digital marketing- Yeah and being able to work online.
- 24:37Lisa: Yes.
- 24:37Lisa: And you know, it's really awesome because you can share your story-
- 24:41Theresa: Yes and,
- 24:42Lisa: and, and- Good for you yeah.
- 24:44Lisa: And so that's the other part- Good.
- 24:46Lisa: I'm so proud of you
- 24:46Theresa: of what I'm building.
- 24:47Theresa: That's awesome.
- 24:48Theresa: Thank
- 24:48Lisa: you.
- 24:49Lisa: Thank you.
- 24:49Theresa: I, I really, um, see parts of your story in my journey, so it's kind of cool.
- 24:54Theresa: I went into digital marketing too before Me
- 24:57Lisa: too.
- 24:57Theresa: But then I'm like,"No, I want to help people be visible." But anyway, I But you, but you can work from home and-
- 25:03Lisa: Mm-hmm
- 25:04Theresa: you know, I think, I think you, I think because of the success of your companies, like you said, I think you had an anointing for kingdom wealth.
- 25:11Theresa: Mm.
- 25:12Theresa: That doesn't stop once your husband That's just as much a part of you.
- 25:15Theresa: Thank you.
- 25:15Theresa: So may I encourage you in that, that, yeah.
- 25:18Theresa: And your story is just so powerful.
- 25:21Theresa: Mm.
- 25:21Theresa: Thank you for, like, really breaking it out.
- 25:24Theresa: I know you could talk more about different things, but wow.
- 25:27Theresa: So how, what's the best way for people to get ahold of you?
- 25:32Lisa: So I have a few websites.
- 25:34Theresa: Okay.
- 25:35Lisa: My current one is, uh, LisaSpeaks.life.
- 25:39Theresa: Awesome.
- 25:39Lisa: I, I was given a, a prophetic word that I'm a life-giver- Yes and I'm running with that- Okay'cause I, I, I wanna I choose life.
- 25:47Lisa: You, whatever you're looking at is the direction you're walking in.
