- 0:24Speaker 3: says to the bartender, this is a talking dog. If
- 0:28Speaker 3: he answers your questions, can we get a drink on
- 0:31Speaker 3: the house. The bartender smirks and says, sure, let's hear it.
- 0:38Speaker 3: So the man turns to the dog and says, what
- 0:41Speaker 3: is the opposite of smooth? The dog says roofe? What
- 0:48Speaker 3: is on the outside of a tree? The dog says bark?
- 0:54Speaker 3: Who is the greatest composer? The dog says mach. The
- 1:00Speaker 3: bartender rolls his eyes and kicks both of them out
- 1:04Speaker 3: of the bar. As they sit on the curb. The
- 1:07Speaker 3: dog turns to his owner and says, should I have
- 1:11Speaker 3: said Mozart? In this week's episode, we're diving into a
- 1:25Speaker 3: powerful truth. Forgiveness does not mean forgetting. Too often we're
- 1:32Speaker 3: told that if we forgive, we should move on like
- 1:35Speaker 3: nothing ever happened, But the reality is things just don't
- 1:40Speaker 3: go back to the way they were, and maybe they're
- 1:44Speaker 3: not supposed to. In this episode, we'll unpack why forgiveness
- 1:49Speaker 3: is less about pretending and more about protecting peace yours
- 1:55Speaker 3: and sometimes even theirs, without rewriting the past or ignoring
- 2:00Speaker 3: the hurt. Let's get into it, but first we have
- 2:05Speaker 3: our trivia question of the day. Are you ready for it? Here?
- 2:09Speaker 3: It is what animal can sleep for up to three
- 2:14Speaker 3: years at a time. We will have the answer when
- 2:19Speaker 3: we come back. Are you looking for your next great read?

- 4:00Speaker 3: did this. Thanks for listening and happy reading. Do you
- 4:12Speaker 3: know the answer to this week's trivia question? The question
- 4:16Speaker 3: was what animal can sleep for up to three years
- 4:21Speaker 3: at a time. The answer the oodlefish, or, more commonly,
- 4:28Speaker 3: the sleeping cucumber see cucumber. See cucumbers. A marine creature
- 4:35Speaker 3: can enter a state of dormancy and sleep for up
- 4:38Speaker 3: to three years, especially when environmental conditions are not ideal.
- 4:43Speaker 3: During this period, they essentially stop eating and the metabolic
- 4:48Speaker 3: rate drops dramatically. It's like the ultimate nap, an extra
- 4:54Speaker 3: long one. So if you're feeling lazy today, just think
- 4:59Speaker 3: of it as being a little more se cucumber like.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Now you know, you know a lot of people talk
- 5:13Speaker 3: about forgiveness like it's a magical reset button, like once
- 5:19Speaker 3: you say I forgive you, everything just rewinds, the pain disappears,
- 5:24Speaker 3: the relationship goes back to normal, and you're supposed to
- 5:28Speaker 3: move on like it never happened. But that's not how
- 5:31Speaker 3: real life works, and honestly, that's not what forgiveness is.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Forgiveness is about release, releasing resentment, releasing the desire for revenge,
- 5:45Speaker 3: releasing the weight that's been dragging you down. But it
- 5:49Speaker 3: doesn't mean forgetting. It doesn't mean pretending the hurt didn't
- 5:53Speaker 3: happen or that it didn't change you, because it did.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Sometimes we forgive people and still need to walk away.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Sometimes we forgive but set new boundaries. Sometimes we forgive
- 6:08Speaker 3: and the relationship survives, but it looks different and that's okay,
- 6:14Speaker 3: that's healthy. There's this pressure, especially in families or close relationships,
- 6:21Speaker 3: to just move on, to not bring it up again.
- 6:25Speaker 3: But ignoring pain isn't healing. Its avoidance forgiveness. Real forgiveness
- 6:32Speaker 3: can hold two truths at once. I let go of
- 6:36Speaker 3: what you did to me, but I also acknowledge that
- 6:40Speaker 3: it left a mark. Forgiveness isn't a free pass. It
- 6:45Speaker 3: doesn't erase accountability, and it's not the same thing as reconciliation.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Reconciliation takes two people willing to rebuild trust. Forgiveness that's
- 6:59Speaker 3: something you can do on your own for you. So,
- 7:04Speaker 3: if you've ever been told that forgiving means you have
- 7:07Speaker 3: to get over it or just let it go and
- 7:11Speaker 3: act like nothing ever happened, I want you to know
- 7:15Speaker 3: that that's not true. You're allowed to forgive and still remember.
- 7:21Speaker 3: You're allowed to forgive and still say I don't want
- 7:25Speaker 3: to go back to the way things were before. That
- 7:29Speaker 3: doesn't make you bitter, That makes you better, It makes
- 7:33Speaker 3: you wise. Just grab an old plate and throw it
- 7:50Speaker 3: on the ground. Okay, done, did it break? Yes, now
- 7:57Speaker 3: say sorry to it, sorry to go back to the
- 8:02Speaker 3: way it was before. No, it didn't, do you understand.
