Latest / Early Edition with Ryan Bridge / Andrew Dickens: Why should America check my socials?
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I don't want to ask what is America thinking? But
- 0:02Speaker 1: what are they thinking? As more details of their social
- 0:05Speaker 1: media information request to enter the States came to the
- 0:07Speaker 1: light yesterday, the less I wanted to go there. To
- 0:09Speaker 1: get in, I need to supply a wealth of personal information,
- 0:12Speaker 1: including DNA and all my social media links. Now, I
- 0:16Speaker 1: love America and it's people, but if I have to
- 0:17Speaker 1: jump through all those hoops, my first reaction is to
- 0:20Speaker 1: forget it. The Land of the Free is no longer
- 0:23Speaker 1: the land of the free speech. Say the wrong thing
- 0:25Speaker 1: on social media, they may cancel you. This is worse
- 0:28Speaker 1: than anything under Biden and Obama. It's canceled culture writ large,
- 0:32Speaker 1: and the irony is so dumb because if you really
- 0:35Speaker 1: are an enemy of the States, you've already canceled all
- 0:38Speaker 1: your social media. This is going to cancel the tourists
- 0:41Speaker 1: and not the terrorists in Seace. I'll probably get canceled
- 0:44Speaker 1: because I've said this. Here's the other bonkers thing that
- 0:47Speaker 1: I heard yesterday out of Trump's America. Marca Rubio halted
- 0:50Speaker 1: the State Department's official use of the typeface Calibri. He
- 0:54Speaker 1: called the whole font wasteful and order the return of
- 0:58Speaker 1: Times New Roman called it as part of a push
- 1:01Speaker 1: to stamp out diversity. Now, I thought, how does that work. Well, apparently,
- 1:04Speaker 1: back in twenty twenty three, Anthony Blincoln ordered the typeface
- 1:07Speaker 1: change to Calibri to improve accessibility for readers with disabilities.
- 1:11Speaker 1: If you've got low vision or dyslex here and people
- 1:13Speaker 1: who use screen readers, it's easier to read. And that
- 1:17Speaker 1: is in fact true. It was invented for people with
- 1:19Speaker 1: low vision. And by the way, it's Microsoft Officer's default font,
- 1:24Speaker 1: and apparently it works. But apparently it's also woke. So
- 1:28Speaker 1: America's going back to Times New Roman. And the left says,
- 1:31Speaker 1: of course they're going back to Times New Roman. Meg
- 1:33Speaker 1: is obsessed with all things Roman. Now, this would all
- 1:36Speaker 1: just be a bit funny, you know, I just change
- 1:38Speaker 1: the font. If it wasn't actually so expensive, you'd think
- 1:41Speaker 1: you just have to ask everyone changing the default font,
- 1:43Speaker 1: off we go. But no, Apparently teams are going to
- 1:46Speaker 1: have to check every little unit. And apparently that's one
- 1:48Speaker 1: hundred and forty five thousand dollars an agency. And there's
- 1:51Speaker 1: a lot of agencies in American bureaucracy. And here's the thing.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Times New Roman takes more ink, and then when you
- 2:01Speaker 1: calculate the sheer volume of wordage being printed out of
- 2:04Speaker 1: the American state, the cost actually mounts into many millions.
- 2:12Speaker 1: The rite off and complain about the cost of crazy
- 2:14Speaker 1: left wing ideology, seemingly blessfully unaware that their jest is
- 2:19Speaker 1: ideologically crazy. For more from Early Edition with Ryan Bridge,
