- 0:00Speaker 1: Craigway alongside the producer Cameron Parker, and so we're happy
- 0:04Speaker 1: to have you with us here for one more hour
- 0:07Speaker 1: of the program, and we'll hear more from longrn's head
- 0:11Speaker 1: coach Steve Sarkesian coming up in a few minutes. But
- 0:18Speaker 1: let's talk about the NFL, the National Football League. The
- 0:25Speaker 1: two games tonight Bears at Vikings. That one is the
- 0:29Speaker 1: ABC telecast and then you have the Falcons Raiders, which
- 0:34Speaker 1: starts thirty minutes afterwards. So at six o'clock or seven
- 0:38Speaker 1: o'clock tonight for Bears Vikings, seven thirty four Falcons.
- 0:43Speaker 2: And Raiders on that.
- 0:46Speaker 1: The results of the weekend go all the way back
- 0:50Speaker 1: to Thursday with the Rams beat the forty nine ers
- 0:52Speaker 1: twelve or six Chiefs over the Browns. Yesterday twenty one
- 0:56Speaker 1: seven got the Sea Xavior worthy again take off and
- 1:00Speaker 1: in on what was technically a touchdown run for him.
- 1:05Speaker 1: That was pretty impressive, But I have to tell you,
- 1:09Speaker 1: I think more impressive was Tovandre Sweat running.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, with that ball were ages and the stiff
- 1:15Speaker 2: army gates the ball and get out of the way.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Flattened a couple of Tennessee Titans running.
- 1:22Speaker 2: It made me.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Think about t Sweat in the Big twelve championship game
- 1:26Speaker 1: catching the pass from Quinn Eewers to be in the
- 1:29Speaker 1: blowout whenever Oklahoma State there in Arlington.
- 1:32Speaker 2: That was a lot of fun. How about Washington and
- 1:36Speaker 2: New Orleans yesterday?
- 1:39Speaker 1: Now, if you didn't hear what happened, the Commanders held
- 1:44Speaker 1: a rather commanding lead.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I think it might have been certainly was twenty to six.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It might have been twenty to three at one point,
- 1:52Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden they started to fight back,
- 1:56Speaker 1: and they did fight back.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It was cut to twenty to thirteen.
- 2:04Speaker 1: And then Washington missed about a fifty some odd yard
- 2:07Speaker 1: field goal with a minute and change left, and so
- 2:11Speaker 1: it gave New Orleans and Spencer Rattler the.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Ball and good field position.
- 2:16Speaker 1: They drove it down, They had a pass near the
- 2:22Speaker 1: goal line at the end, and they were out of timeouts.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Now they ended up scoring on what proved to be
- 2:32Speaker 1: the last play of the game, and at that point
- 2:35Speaker 1: the Saints figured, what the heck, you know, our season's
- 2:37Speaker 1: going nowhere, Let's go for two and try to win it.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So they went for two and they didn't get it,
- 2:41Speaker 1: so they lose twenty to nineteen. But lost in all
- 2:45Speaker 1: of that right near the end was this weird deal
- 2:49Speaker 1: with the clock stopping, and they had a pool reporter
- 2:54Speaker 1: visit with Sean Hockylely, the referee, and this is how
- 2:57Speaker 1: the conversation went. The question from the Johnson at the
- 3:01Speaker 1: end of the game. It was the third to last play.
- 3:04Speaker 1: The Saints completed a pass short of the goal line
- 3:07Speaker 1: and the clock kept running, and it appeared the clock
- 3:10Speaker 1: stopped at nine seconds. I was wondering if you had
- 3:13Speaker 1: an explanation for the stoppage. Sean Hoculey's response was to say, quote,
- 3:18Speaker 1: the covering official mistakenly stopped the clock.
- 3:21Speaker 2: In that situation, the clock should not have stopped. Hocyly.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Was there any consideration of reviewing the stoppage? Was there
- 3:29Speaker 1: anything you could have done after the fact? Hocyly, No,
- 3:32Speaker 1: it's not a situation that is reviewable. Question when were
- 3:37Speaker 1: you all aware of the mistake, Hockyly. That's all I
- 3:39Speaker 1: have for you, Luke, the covering official mistakenly stopped the
- 3:42Speaker 1: clock in nine seconds and.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Is not reviewal. That's how it ended.
- 3:49Speaker 1: There's lots of conspiracy theorists that we're talking about, and
- 3:51Speaker 1: they were looking at the what you call a significant
- 3:57Speaker 1: play to some in terms of the wagering line and
- 4:00Speaker 1: now it all went and so on and so forth.
- 4:04Speaker 1: But Washington ended up winning the game.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Obviously.
- 4:08Speaker 1: We talked a little bit about the Cowboys winning over
- 4:12Speaker 1: the Panthers in Charlotte thirty to fourteen.
- 4:14Speaker 3: They just seem to do better on the road camp
- 4:16Speaker 3: and they do a home I don't have much for
- 4:18Speaker 3: you there, Craig with you. I mean, they'd beat a
- 4:22Speaker 3: Panthers team that has what three wins?
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Baltimore over New York. I gotta buy
- 4:30Speaker 1: in the first round of fantasy, so wouldn't it, you know?
- 4:32Speaker 1: But if I needed to play, I was in good
- 4:34Speaker 1: shape because Lamar Jackson threw five touchdown pass.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I met twenty one for twenty five.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Just another super efficient game from Lamar Jackson that won't
- 4:42Speaker 3: get looked at a lot more, for one, because they
- 4:44Speaker 3: played the Giants and because Josh Allen had another MVP
- 4:47Speaker 3: type performance. But the Ravens aren't settling for field goals
- 4:51Speaker 3: or missfield goals attempts. They are a fantastic offense. Giants
- 4:55Speaker 3: have lost nine in a row. I can't believe. Brian
- 4:58Speaker 3: Davile is not on the coaching hot seat, looks like
- 5:00Speaker 3: he's going to come back for the year. And about that,
- 5:02Speaker 3: if you're an Eagles or Commanders or Cowboys fan, you're saying, okay,
- 5:06Speaker 3: thank you.
- 5:07Speaker 1: If your Eagles and Commanders are Giants, fanners saying if
- 5:11Speaker 1: Mike McCarthy gun's back, okay, thank you.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Jets beat the Jags thirty two twenty five on that
- 5:20Speaker 1: not too much to have.
- 5:21Speaker 2: That was a fun game for three win teams.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, you know if you're an anti Aaron Rodgers guy,
- 5:27Speaker 3: and then you probably enjoyed the shots of him on
- 5:30Speaker 3: the bench by him something. Let me answer this something,
- 5:32Speaker 3: correg Yeah, does he have friends? Do you think Aaron
- 5:35Speaker 3: Rodgers has friends outside of football outside of Pat mcavee,
- 5:39Speaker 3: And I don't. He's not even his friend because he's
- 5:40Speaker 3: getting paid a million dollars to go on that show.
- 5:43Speaker 3: That there was a point made. I forget who made
- 5:44Speaker 3: the point, and I'm sorry I can't remember who it was.
- 5:47Speaker 3: But that all Aaron Rodgers is known for it is football.
- 5:51Speaker 3: And once once football ends for Aaron Rodgers, then he
- 5:56Speaker 3: loses his identity.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Hey, remember he hosted some episodes of Jeopardy. He did yeah,
- 6:01Speaker 1: he did, right after Alex Trebek retarded he did. He
- 6:05Speaker 1: actually did pretty good too, but he wasn't gonna make it.
- 6:07Speaker 3: He seems like a guy that has has a spotlight
- 6:09Speaker 3: on him. He needs some media attention. I don't know
- 6:11Speaker 3: what they're gonna do. I I can't foresee him coming
- 6:14Speaker 3: back next season in the New York Jet uniform. And
- 6:17Speaker 3: I don't know what NFL team would drawn Adam, considering
- 6:20Speaker 3: all the turmoil he brings to your locker room and organization.
- 6:23Speaker 3: But but then, I mean a battle of what a
- 6:27Speaker 3: coach that should be fired versus the intraim head coach
- 6:30Speaker 3: Albret Albright whatever, who will be gone at the end
- 6:34Speaker 3: of the year. Just a real gloomy game for two
- 6:36Speaker 3: gloomy fan bases yesterday.
- 6:38Speaker 2: You know who Aaron Rodgers gets next, don't you? Who's that?
- 6:42Speaker 2: Had to be? The Rams?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Okay in the metal land congratulations, Yeah, it's gonna be cold.
- 6:47Speaker 1: The Rams have found a way to beat good teams
- 6:50Speaker 1: like Buffalo and the Vikings this year while losing the
- 6:53Speaker 1: teams like the Bears and the Dolphins this year.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Hey, I'm looking at the standings right now, Craig, and
- 7:00Speaker 3: I see the LA Rams the top the NFC West,
- 7:03Speaker 3: even though they have a negative point differential.
- 7:07Speaker 2: That's good.
- 7:07Speaker 1: They're still playing the price for getting blown out by
- 7:10Speaker 1: the Cardinals like forty one early in the season. They'll
- 7:14Speaker 1: get another shot at Arizona week after next.
- 7:16Speaker 3: They have a worse point differential than the five, four
- 7:20Speaker 3: and nine, the four and nine Chicago Bears, who have
- 7:23Speaker 3: lost seven in a row.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Yeah, the Bears just find magical ways to lose, and
- 7:27Speaker 1: they'll find another magical way to lose tonight in Minneapolis.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Oh well, yeah, no doubt, no doubt.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Uh, Texans kind of just grinded one out against the
- 7:37Speaker 1: Dolphins yesterday.
- 7:38Speaker 2: That was clinched the division.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Brutal tu of performance, three interceptions, he almost got his
- 7:43Speaker 3: teammate killed yesterday. Yeah, we hope that the Boys is okay.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I think we heard that he had feelings in his extremities,
- 7:51Speaker 3: which is a good sign. But just one of those
- 7:53Speaker 3: to games where you're just like, this is this is
- 7:55Speaker 3: the future, this is this is Tua. Do you really
- 7:58Speaker 3: trust him that much? I mean, you forget tyreek kills.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Even on the field, he was going in this season
- 8:03Speaker 3: as what possible an MVP favorite to win it. The
- 8:07Speaker 3: number one receiver in the league. It does not feel
- 8:10Speaker 3: like it that way at all. And the Dolphins team that,
- 8:13Speaker 3: you know, they're still alive in the playoffs, but needed
- 8:15Speaker 3: that win yesterday. And the Texans, congrats to that organization.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Although I mean the offense still is kind of just grinding.
- 8:22Speaker 3: You said grind, it's a good word.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Great.
- 8:24Speaker 3: I feel like they're just grinding too hard to win
- 8:26Speaker 3: some of these games they should win by more points.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Yeah, how about the bizarre game in Denver. The Colts
- 8:34Speaker 1: were leading and they were doing really well, and then
- 8:41Speaker 1: Jonathan Taylor dropped the ball before he crossed the goal
- 8:45Speaker 1: line on what would have been a forty one yard touchdown,
- 8:49Speaker 1: and then the Broncos came back, and then they bounced back.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Then the Colts have it again, and they tried a
- 8:55Speaker 1: little razzle dazzle and Anthony Richardson threw the ball to
- 8:59Speaker 1: ad Mitchell, and Adani Mitchell took it seemed like thirteen
- 9:04Speaker 1: seconds to get the ball stand still and then throw
- 9:07Speaker 1: back across the hill. That was probably the easiest interception
- 9:10Speaker 1: Nick Benito has ever had. I mean, you saw ad
- 9:14Speaker 1: get the ball and he's trying to get his hands
- 9:16Speaker 1: around it to throw and then he sets up and
- 9:19Speaker 1: just throws a floater and there's Benito who just timed
- 9:22Speaker 1: it perfectly, intercepted. It was supposed to be a throwback
- 9:25Speaker 1: pass to the quarterback, and Benito picks it off and
- 9:28Speaker 1: takes it in for the touchdown.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Denver is nine and five.
- 9:33Speaker 3: And in some key ex Longhorns playing very well for them,
- 9:37Speaker 3: Brandon Jones the secondary, PJ. Locke who forced a fumble
- 9:42Speaker 3: in that game, Malcolm Roach defensive lineman cool the Sea,
- 9:45Speaker 3: and then LJ.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Humphrey.
- 9:47Speaker 3: He had a tackle of one of those bow knicks
- 9:49Speaker 3: is one of his three interceptions. Hey, if bow Knicks
- 9:53Speaker 3: can throw three picks and you're able to win a
- 9:55Speaker 3: football game, that tells you that, hey, you got a
- 9:57Speaker 3: good defense, and also the team you're playing absolutely the stinks.
- 10:00Speaker 2: That was the Indianapolis culture.
- 10:02Speaker 1: That was his worst game in several weeks, because he's
- 10:04Speaker 1: actually played well in decent uh so, but he didn't
- 10:08Speaker 1: play well in that one.
- 10:09Speaker 2: They still won.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Eagles beat the Steelers, and they always beat the Steelers.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I think now, Craig, I mean, you look at the
- 10:17Speaker 3: Lions injuries and we'll get to the game in the second.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I think the Eagles now are your favorite to win
- 10:21Speaker 3: the NFC.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Well, the Lions still hold the tie break better conference record,
- 10:27Speaker 1: but they fell into a tie for best record by
- 10:30Speaker 1: losing that crazy game to Buffalo forty two. And everybody's
- 10:35Speaker 1: pointing to Dan Campbell, So what are you doing with
- 10:39Speaker 1: the on side kick there like early fourth quarter when
- 10:42Speaker 1: you're right in the game and it was easily recovered
- 10:44Speaker 1: and the Buffalo ends up getting a touchdown out of it,
- 10:47Speaker 1: and then the Lions came charging back and they got
- 10:49Speaker 1: a touch on it, and they almost recovered another on
- 10:51Speaker 1: side kick there in the waiting seconds.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Your defense give but forty eight points. You're not getting
- 10:56Speaker 2: to stop.
- 10:56Speaker 3: So I understand why people are on Campbell for that
- 10:58Speaker 3: in exgressive nature, but you're defense could not get a stop.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Buffalo averaged eight and a half yards per play. Craig,
- 11:04Speaker 3: of course he's going to go for the on side kick.
- 11:06Speaker 3: And now with the Lions defensively, all these injuries, I mean,
- 11:09Speaker 3: looking at it right now, their injuries could field a
- 11:14Speaker 3: top ten NFL defense on the defensive line. Aiden Hutchinson,
- 11:18Speaker 3: who is looking at an All Pro season, he's done
- 11:21Speaker 3: for the year, maybe could come back in the Super Bowl.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Who knows.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Alee McNeil, starting defensive tackle, out for the year, Marcus
- 11:27Speaker 3: Davenport defensive lineman, starter, he's been out. John Kaminski backup,
- 11:31Speaker 3: he's been out. So three of their four starters is out.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Linebacking corps Alex and Seloni starter, he's been out. Malcolm Rodriguez,
- 11:38Speaker 3: former Oklahoma State product, he's been out. Played a big
- 11:40Speaker 3: part of their defense. Derek Barnes backup linebacker, he's been out.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Jillen Reeves Mabon he's been out. And then the secondary,
- 11:47Speaker 3: Carlton Davis, the starter has been out, and as Ray
- 11:49Speaker 3: Shaw junior starter has been out.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Emmanuel Moseley's been out.
- 11:52Speaker 3: And then their safety Vettu Malifanoah whatever you say his
- 11:56Speaker 3: last name, he's been out their defense.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I mean tho.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Those are all stars, all starters or second string players
- 12:03Speaker 3: who are now out for a Lions team at a
- 12:05Speaker 3: certain point, Craig, no matter how well coached or talented
- 12:09Speaker 3: you are on offense, when you suffer those injuries, that's
- 12:12Speaker 3: what eleven players I just named. It's hard to come
- 12:15Speaker 3: back from that, and I'm worried how the Lions are
- 12:17Speaker 3: just not gonna have enough debt or great coaching to
- 12:21Speaker 3: be able to survive those injuries on defense.
- 12:25Speaker 1: The Bills, by the way, became the first team to
- 12:31Speaker 1: score over forty and surrender over forty points in back
- 12:36Speaker 1: to back games since the nineteen sixty six New York Giants.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Now only because they, you know, weird about studying history
- 12:43Speaker 1: of the NFL. I knew what one of those games
- 12:45Speaker 1: had to be for the Giants, and sure enough I
- 12:47Speaker 1: looked it up.
- 12:47Speaker 2: They went one, twelve and one that year. They were
- 12:49Speaker 2: horrible the Giants. One of the.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Games was they lost a game at Washington seventy two
- 12:57Speaker 1: to forty one. It's the largest scoring, the highest scoring
- 13:00Speaker 1: game for a team in the regular season in NFL history.
- 13:03Speaker 1: The Redskins lost to the Bears in the nineteen forty
- 13:06Speaker 1: NFL Championship Game seventy three to nothing, but they beat
- 13:10Speaker 1: the Giants seventy two to.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Forty one in Washington.
- 13:15Speaker 1: The next week, the Giants lost at Cleveland forty nine
- 13:19Speaker 1: to forty and the week after that they lost it
- 13:21Speaker 1: home to the Steelers forty seven to twenty eight. They
- 13:24Speaker 1: had three consecutive games giving up over forty but in
- 13:27Speaker 1: two of them they scored over forty. They lost both
- 13:30Speaker 1: now the Bills on have lost one that was to
- 13:32Speaker 1: the Rams last week, the forty four to forty two game,
- 13:36Speaker 1: and also this one because it was the crazy game
- 13:42Speaker 1: that it was forty eight to forty two then became
- 13:47Speaker 1: the highest scoring game of the season forty eight forty
- 13:49Speaker 1: two Buffalo with the win on that one.
- 13:51Speaker 3: The crazy thing about that, Craig is, you know you
- 13:54Speaker 3: could have like it's all Josh Allen, him carrying the offense, no,
- 13:58Speaker 3: the rushing attack. Yesterday just dashed Detroit. James Cook was phenomenal,
- 14:02Speaker 3: the resho over two hundred yards. Allen is having a
- 14:04Speaker 3: fantastic year right now. He's your Sunday Ticket MVP, Red
- 14:09Speaker 3: Zone MVP. I mean, every time he has the ball
- 14:12Speaker 3: and it helps, he's on my fantasy team. But when
- 14:14Speaker 3: he has it, you know, he's like what Mahomes was
- 14:16Speaker 3: two years ago, except you know, they're not scoring five
- 14:20Speaker 3: points a game and somehow still winning.
- 14:21Speaker 2: He has been tremendous. He would be my vote for
- 14:24Speaker 2: the MVP.
- 14:25Speaker 3: And I think right now you're gonna get a lot
- 14:26Speaker 3: of people who are gonna predict and pick the Bills
- 14:29Speaker 3: to win the AFC, and I hope we get another
- 14:32Speaker 3: Bills Chiefs matchup in the AFC Championship game.
- 14:35Speaker 2: You know, he's kind of quietly doing some good stuff.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Tampa Bay.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Yeah, they won forty to seventeen over the Chargers and
- 14:42Speaker 1: they're still rolling along and nine to five in the
- 14:44Speaker 1: division and then Green Bay winning last night. We talked
- 14:46Speaker 1: about beating Seattle thirty to thirteen, creating that two way
- 14:49Speaker 1: tie for first in the NFC West.
- 14:50Speaker 3: And Tampa Bay closes with the Cowboys, that's a win, Panthers,
- 14:53Speaker 3: that's the win. In the Saints, that's the win. So
- 14:55Speaker 3: even though they lost those two games to Atlanta and
- 14:57Speaker 3: we lose the tie break, I don't know of Atlanta
- 15:01Speaker 3: can catch up to them because now the Lan's with
- 15:03Speaker 3: a game and a half behind them. If they win
- 15:05Speaker 3: the night, they're only game back. But they lose tonight
- 15:07Speaker 3: and they're two games back with three left. I don't
- 15:08Speaker 3: see Tampa Bay losing. The Bucks somehow can win this
- 15:11Speaker 3: division even though they lost two games to the Falcons. Yeah, yeah,
- 15:14Speaker 3: which means he NFC West champion is probably gonna.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Be the four seed the way it stands. All right,
- 15:20Speaker 1: we're gonna hear more from Longbarn's head coach Steve starts
- 15:23Speaker 1: Keshan when we continue on Sports RADIOA and thirteen under
- 15:25Speaker 1: the ZWE
