Speaker 1: Let's talk to Adam about today's group, the NFC East.
• 1:37
Speaker 1: We've talked a lot about the Eagles and what they
• 1:39
Speaker 1: have done. Now that the dust is settled in the
• 1:41
Speaker 1: Eagles draft class, let's see what it looks like for
• 1:45
Speaker 1: the rest of the division. And I'm looking at the
• 1:47
Speaker 1: division odds right now the NFC East. The Eagles are
• 1:50
Speaker 1: the favorite plus one fifteen, Dallas plus two to twenty five,
• 1:54
Speaker 1: Washington plus five hundred, the Giants are plus six hundred.
• 1:57
Speaker 1: So the Eagles are the fai if it's in the
• 2:00
Speaker 1: NFC East, were they your favorite draft class?
• 2:03
Speaker 2: Well, Mike, I gotta tell first of all, and we'll
• 2:05
Speaker 2: we'll probably do conference ods, NFC conference ods and divisional
• 2:11
Speaker 2: win totals. We'll take We did them like four weeks ago,
• 2:15
Speaker 2: and I want to do it, as I told you
• 2:16
Speaker 2: post draft, but I cannot believe, and I know the
• 2:19
Speaker 2: Commanders were terrible last seasons because of injury. Mike, the
• 2:21
Speaker 2: oldest team in the National footb League. We will get
• 2:24
Speaker 2: started with their draft. They bet you should know that
• 2:27
Speaker 2: they had an extremely strong offseason. They addressed a lot
• 2:30
Speaker 2: of needs. And now what they did is they drafted
• 2:34
Speaker 2: a lot for the future. Sunny Styles. Let's go to
• 2:37
Speaker 2: him for the we're gonna we're gonna talk talk about
• 2:39
Speaker 2: selected players here for each team, Sunny Styles. You might
• 2:42
Speaker 2: remember his dad if you follow the NFL. Lorenzo, who
• 2:46
Speaker 2: played with Deion Sanders in Atlanta, also became a Super
• 2:49
Speaker 2: Bowl winner in nineteen ninety nine with the Rams. He
• 2:52
Speaker 2: too was a linebacker. Sonny, He's a former safety, just
• 2:56
Speaker 2: too tall to play safety in the National Football League,
• 2:59
Speaker 2: but this is his third year playing inside backer. He
• 3:03
Speaker 2: is a super freak athlete, really smart. Right now, he's
• 3:09
Speaker 2: just a little bit behind in certain aspects of the game,
• 3:11
Speaker 2: but the draft is always that projection. In the future
• 3:14
Speaker 2: he'll be a Day one starter. They're loaded inside backer.
• 3:17
Speaker 2: Let's go to the third round, Mike with the Commanders.
• 3:20
Speaker 2: One of my favorite receivers for the draft, Antony Williams
• 3:22
Speaker 2: out of Clemson mostly will play inside for them. They
• 3:26
Speaker 2: need a slot receiver. He will be that he should
• 3:28
Speaker 2: he should be their starting slot. And then six round,
• 3:30
Speaker 2: let's skip to that Kate tron Allen out of Penn State.
• 3:33
Speaker 2: Now this here's a little fantasy nugget for you of folks.
• 3:37
Speaker 2: If you're in a dynasty leagues, understand a couple of things.
• 3:40
Speaker 2: That they're running backs on the roster. They have a
• 3:42
Speaker 2: lot of them. But Jerome Ford is a one year deal,
• 3:44
Speaker 2: Jeremy mcnichol's one year deal, Rashad White one year deal,
• 3:48
Speaker 2: Krosskey Merritt is not a three down back. It's not
• 3:51
Speaker 2: out of the question. Mike. If k tron Allen has
• 3:53
Speaker 2: a great training camp, is that he gets involved in
• 3:56
Speaker 2: the rotation and the Mike, I wouldn't. It would not
• 3:59
Speaker 2: surprise me at all found up becoming their starter.
• 4:02
Speaker 1: Well, obviously they had, as you mentioned, a lot of
• 4:04
Speaker 1: injury problems last year. A little different look at for
• 4:07
Speaker 1: what they were an aging team last year too. They
• 4:10
Speaker 1: took a chance on a lot of older guys. Sonny
• 4:13
Speaker 1: Styles the first round pick. There, let's go to Dallas,
• 4:17
Speaker 1: who I think many people thought was maybe the best
• 4:20
Speaker 1: pick of the first round with Caleb Downs there, but
• 4:23
Speaker 1: they had another good draft class here.
• 4:25
Speaker 2: They did now one of the problems that they've had
• 4:27
Speaker 2: for a number of years on why they've been so
• 4:28
Speaker 2: bad defensively, not competitive the last three seasons. Lack of
• 4:32
Speaker 2: football character is what I've been told. Many people are
• 4:34
Speaker 2: in the National Football League who have information on their players,
• 4:38
Speaker 2: and now they got one of the classiest, high character
• 4:41
Speaker 2: and one of the best football players in this draft,
• 4:43
Speaker 2: a top five player, Caleb Downs. The Giants passed on him.
• 4:47
Speaker 2: I know a lot of Giant fans were upset about that.
• 4:49
Speaker 2: We'll get to them later. The second pick, their second
• 4:52
Speaker 2: first round pick, is an upside projection. Picky's nutt like,
• 4:56
Speaker 2: I don't know that he starts right away. Malachi Lawrence
• 5:00
Speaker 2: flash player, needs to be more consistent. There's a lot
• 5:02
Speaker 2: of talent here. He needs to be developed further. Let's
• 5:05
Speaker 2: go to the third round. Jayshawn Barham out of Michigan.
• 5:10
Speaker 2: Really raw but talented. He needs This is a if
• 5:14
Speaker 2: you're a Cowboys fan listening, and we know their Cowboy
• 5:16
Speaker 2: fans listening, you got to be patient. It's going to
• 5:19
Speaker 2: take him probably three years to break the lineup. If
• 5:21
Speaker 2: all goes well, but very talented, and you know how
• 5:23
Speaker 2: bad their past rusher has been. Of course, they traded
• 5:25
Speaker 2: Michael Lawrence last year, so Michael Parson's excuse me, fourth
• 5:31
Speaker 2: round Drew Shelton out of Penn State, out of Downtown PA.
• 5:37
Speaker 2: He was a former tight end that moved to tackle.
• 5:41
Speaker 2: He'd probably be a right tackle at this level. He's
• 5:43
Speaker 2: a project. If you watch The Intel with Greg Osel
• 5:46
Speaker 2: this past week when we talked about the Cowboys, Greg
• 5:49
Speaker 2: did not love his tape, and he's a project in
• 5:51
Speaker 2: the forefront bet Greg loved by the way Devin Moore
• 5:54
Speaker 2: out of Florida. Good size, He's not fast, but he's
• 5:58
Speaker 2: got good lens. He could start down the So that
• 6:00
Speaker 2: the Cowboys on paper had a fascinating draft. They had
• 6:04
Speaker 2: a fascinating offseason. I like what the Commanders have done though,
• 6:08
Speaker 2: the best in the draft and a free agency. They
• 6:12
Speaker 2: really help themselves there. They're going to be back to
• 6:14
Speaker 2: command I look forward Mike to talking about win total
• 6:17
Speaker 2: for the Commanders because I think they're going to be
• 6:19
  Speaker 2: back this season.
• 6:19
Speaker 1: As we mentioned at the top of hear plus five
• 6:21
Speaker 1: hundred for them to win the division. Dallas plus two
• 6:25
Speaker 1: twenty five and then there's the Giants, who obviously coaching
• 6:28
Speaker 1: jats high profile. They brought in hardball, Super Bowl pedigree.
• 6:32
Speaker 1: They've made some noises offseason, and they had two high
• 6:36
Speaker 1: first round picks in the top ten.
• 6:39
Speaker 2: Yeah. So rvel Reeves, who will be an inside backer
• 6:43
Speaker 2: for them, and situationally, if they wanted to, he could
• 6:47
Speaker 2: play the edge. Also one of the top five players
• 6:51
Speaker 2: for this draft. They'll start right away at inside backer.
• 6:55
Speaker 2: Remember they cut Bobby Ocaake, so they'll start now the
• 7:00
Speaker 2: second one. I know a lot. This is where it's interesting.
• 7:02
Speaker 2: The Giants passed on Caleb Towns to draft Francis Malanoa.
• 7:06
Speaker 2: It's spelled Malgo, but it's benounce Malanoa out of the
• 7:10
Speaker 2: University of Florida. You see the University of Miami, Florida.
• 7:13
Speaker 2: He's a right tackle, right guard who's going to play
• 7:15
Speaker 2: initially guard. So they're dressing their dreadful offensive line. Mike,
• 7:22
Speaker 2: they needed to do this. We'll get to the a
• 7:24
Speaker 2: couple of the other picks that we like, but their
• 7:26
Speaker 2: offensive line has had tremendous injury problems. Andrew Thomas so
• 7:31
Speaker 2: many injuries. They got to get John Michael Schmidz going
• 7:35
Speaker 2: and John running and Junior going, and then Jermaine Illuminoor
• 7:40
Speaker 2: has been a good story development come home for the
• 7:42
Speaker 2: Riders a couple of years ago. He's going to be
• 7:43
Speaker 2: the right tackle for now. You can also play guards,
• 7:45
Speaker 2: so they're feeling much better about their offensive line. Then
• 7:48
Speaker 2: in the second round, they drafted a kid in Colthood
• 7:52
Speaker 2: who's really talented, who about a top forty grade for
• 7:56
Speaker 2: most teams I spoke with, So not surprised that they
• 7:59
Speaker 2: drafted him where they did. Wasn't you can make the
• 8:03
Speaker 2: case it wasn't a need for now. It certainly was not,
• 8:06
Speaker 2: because Paulson and Diba will start for sure coming from
• 8:10
Speaker 2: New Orleans, and Greg Newsom should start at right corner
• 8:13
Speaker 2: and Drew Drew Phillips right now is their nickel, so
• 8:17
Speaker 2: they'll be good there. But Colton run down the road.
• 8:19
Speaker 2: Greg Newsom's on a one year deal. Colton heard will
• 8:22
Speaker 2: they think will start in years two or three. Then
• 8:25
Speaker 2: Malachai Fields. In the pre draft process, what I'd heard
• 8:28
Speaker 2: was they were really on this player. They love him.
• 8:31
Speaker 2: He could be this is a fantasy note. He could
• 8:34
Speaker 2: be their ex receiver starting in twenty twenty seven. They
• 8:38
Speaker 2: don't really have size of the receiver Malachi Fields is
• 8:40
Speaker 2: a big dude. I know they were very high on
• 8:42
Speaker 2: him in the pre draft process. So if you're in
• 8:44
Speaker 2: a dynasty league in fantasy, this is this the guy
• 8:46
Speaker 2: you want to look at.
• 8:47
Speaker 1: So there you go. Look at the Giants, who who
• 8:49
Speaker 1: are a long shot plus six hundred to win the division.
• 8:53
Speaker 1: They're not as long as other long shots though, Adam,
• 8:55
Speaker 1: you know the Raiders are plus two thousand over there
• 8:58
Speaker 1: in the AFC Titans plus eight eight hundred, Browns plus
• 9:01
Speaker 1: sixteen hundred, the Dolphins are plus thirty five hundred, and
• 9:06
Speaker 1: the Arizona Cars plus nine thousand. So when you talk
• 9:09
Speaker 1: about the longest shots in each division, the Giants at
• 9:12
Speaker 1: least like feel like they're at arms Like the way
• 9:15
Speaker 1: are they close to being competitive in that division? This year?
• 9:18
Speaker 2: They are? I remember I told you a couple of
• 9:20
Speaker 2: weeks ago, like I like the under six and a
• 9:22
Speaker 2: half last year. I think that whatever it was I
• 9:25
Speaker 2: got right, I actually liked over. I like over this year.
• 9:29
Speaker 2: I forget Mike, you we talked about this again four
• 9:33
Speaker 2: weeks ago. This is one of these teams that and
• 9:37
Speaker 2: they're gonna be better coached. I just feel like they're
• 9:40
Speaker 2: going to surprise people. This division is all of a
• 9:43
Speaker 2: sudden if you look at the off seasons of the Giants.
• 9:46
Speaker 2: You mentioned with John Harball, who as a terrific coach,
• 9:49
Speaker 2: a Super Bowl winning head coach before with the Ravens Washington.
• 9:53
Speaker 2: As I detailed earlier, they had a great offseason. They've
• 9:56
Speaker 2: got their quarterback that they had to get younger. They're
• 9:58
Speaker 2: the oldest team in the National FOOTB League. Want to
• 10:00
Speaker 2: be that team, Well they're not. They got significantly younger
• 10:04
Speaker 2: than Dallas. To me, Mike, it would not surprise me
• 10:08
Speaker 2: if they finished in fourth.
• 10:11
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 10:11
Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing though, they're bringing back all eleven starters.
• 10:15
Speaker 2: Their defense has been terrible now they're changing to a
• 10:18
Speaker 2: thirty four. Was Christian Parker, who runs a version of
• 10:21
Speaker 2: Vic Fangos defense for Shawn Gary. Right. They devon Asako
• 10:26
Speaker 2: unfortunates coming off of major injury and surgery with a
• 10:29
Speaker 2: turn hip. Labram Barham most likely won't be ready to
• 10:32
Speaker 2: contribute much of this season, but they this is Kenny Clark.
• 10:36
Speaker 2: This will be his first full season with him. Quinn
• 10:39
Speaker 2: Williams also came over with the trade dead trade deadline
• 10:42
Speaker 2: last year. Very talented player. They've been awful a corner
• 10:44
Speaker 2: the last couple of seasons. I don't know. I just
• 10:47
Speaker 2: I'm not feeling a corner for them that we'll see
• 10:49
Speaker 2: about Devin Moore. As we mentioned earlier, their pass rush
• 10:52
Speaker 2: has got to be much better. They've been an awful
• 10:54
Speaker 2: tackling team for years. I just I'm not buying it
• 10:57
Speaker 2: with their defense yet, I'm not there. I would agree
• 11:00
Speaker 2: with this odes you gave to finish off here, Mike,
• 11:03
Speaker 2: my early this is the way I would stack them
• 11:05
Speaker 2: right now. Slight favor to the Eagles slate Washington, and second,
• 11:13
Speaker 2: they're going to push the Giant for second. They're going
• 11:15
Speaker 2: to push the Commandos for second place, and I'm picking
• 11:18
Speaker 2: Dallas at fourth right now.
• 11:19
Speaker 1: All right, there you go, little early prediction of the
• 11:21
Speaker 1: nfcas I'm sure we'll dive more in more off season
• 11:24
Speaker 1: to go before we rock out of here. The draft
• 11:27
Speaker 1: is over. Asked Andrew this question yesterday. Now that the
• 11:30
Speaker 1: draft is over and all that, any other holes that
• 11:33
Speaker 1: you're still waiting for Howie to fill, they will.
• 11:36
Speaker 2: I mean, they're going to do it. They're going to
• 11:39
Speaker 2: add a safety, whether it's their preference, is Mike to
• 11:43
Speaker 2: sign a veteran after once the compensatory formula is over.
• 11:47
Speaker 2: Once that that's in within two weeks leading up to
• 11:51
Speaker 2: training camp, their first preference would be a veteran. If not,
• 11:54
Speaker 2: that's when you look at the trade market now. They're
• 11:56
Speaker 2: not looking to spell out of money, Mike, that's not
• 11:58
Speaker 2: what they're looking to do. So if they side a
• 12:02
Speaker 2: venteran off the street, it won't be for very much money.
• 12:05
Speaker 2: You really can make the case, Mike and Drew mccober
• 12:09
Speaker 2: worries me about his frame. Is his body. He's kind
• 12:12
Speaker 2: to prove that he can stay healthy. They're looking to
• 12:16
Speaker 2: add a safety that that's definitely gonna happen. It's just
• 12:18
Speaker 2: when does it happen. Does it happen within the next
• 12:21
Speaker 2: four weeks, does it happen the next two months? Do
• 12:23
Speaker 2: they wait till in a training camp. That's just the
• 12:28
Speaker 2: market will dictate that. But they're looking for that and
• 12:32
Speaker 2: backup guard is the only real opening. Right now. They
• 12:35
Speaker 2: have an offense. They're solidified for the future and for
• 12:39
Speaker 2: the season. At tight end with Stours, they brought back
• 12:41
Speaker 2: Goddard Calca Terra. They actually cut a tight end Jaheim Bell,
• 12:46
Speaker 2: but they have too many tight ends quite frankly, right
• 12:48
Speaker 2: now and then receiver. Once Brown's traded. You got Lemon,
• 12:52
Speaker 2: you got Devonte Smith got on TV and Wicks Hollywood
• 12:55
Speaker 2: Brown Darius Cooper is a great story. You don't need that.
• 12:58
Speaker 2: They got their five start of the offensive line, got
• 13:00
Speaker 2: plenty of developmental offensive linemen. They've got a Frek Johnson
• 13:05
Speaker 2: is a back, right tackle, left tackle. But what they
• 13:08
Speaker 2: don't have is an experienced guard. Drew Kennell they think
• 13:12
Speaker 2: as a center who could play guard. People I've talked
• 13:15
Speaker 2: to Rindley don't think he's a guard at this level,
• 13:17
  Speaker 2: but he's a He had a great He had a
• 13:19
Speaker 2: really good offseason. He did well behind the scenes and
• 13:23
Speaker 2: practice last year. I'm told so they like him. But
• 13:26
Speaker 2: guard is one position to watch as we get closer
• 13:29
  Speaker 2: to training camp.
• 13:29
Speaker 1: All right, noted Sixer fan Adam Kaplay at Game seven
• 13:34
  Speaker 1: tomorrow night.
• 13:34
  Speaker 2: Man, I can't believe it. I told Josh, I've never
• 13:38
Speaker 2: been so happy to be wrong. I thought, my guy
• 13:41
Speaker 2: thought Game three, and this is how the crazy the
• 13:44
Speaker 2: series has been. I thought, whoever won that, remember I
• 13:46
Speaker 2: send it on your show Left Friday would win it.
• 13:49
Speaker 2: Boston blew them out back to back games, especially Game four,
• 13:54
Speaker 2: and you saw bad. The excuse me. The Sixers were
• 13:58
Speaker 2: at home. I thought they had no chance. I'm like,
• 14:00
Speaker 2: there's no way they're winning Game six because they're terrible
• 14:02
Speaker 2: at home. They beat the heck out of the Celtics.
• 14:07
Speaker 2: Growing up in the float off the area, there's no
• 14:09
Speaker 2: team that I hated more, even more than the Cowboys
• 14:12
Speaker 2: growing up than the Celtics. I hated Kevin McHale. I
• 14:16
Speaker 2: hated mL Carr. I could go through the list of hatred.
• 14:19
Speaker 2: I can't stand Peyton Prichard, like he's in my top
• 14:22
Speaker 2: five most stated players. I can't stand that team. I mean,
• 14:27
Speaker 2: it's one of these things, like if they beat them.
• 14:29
Speaker 2: And by the way, the Flyers situation has been awesome
• 14:33
Speaker 2: that their process Mike has worked a lot better than
• 14:35
Speaker 2: the Sixers had, but or has then the Phillies. The
• 14:39
Speaker 2: Phillies at least winning three in a row is a miracle.
• 14:41
Speaker 2: So at least for twenty four hours, it's great to
• 14:44
Speaker 2: be in this area.
• 14:45
Speaker 1: Well, a lot of fun. Tomorrow night we have the
• 14:47
Speaker 1: Sixers in the Celtics Game seven on ninety seven to
• 14:49
Speaker 1: three ESPN, and the Flyers and the Hurricanes Game one
• 14:53
Speaker 1: will be on Rock one zero four one We've got
• 14:55
Speaker 1: football all off season, and so do the boys at
• 14:58
Speaker 1: the Inside the Birds podcast, Inside at the Birds dot
• 15:00
Speaker 1: Com Adam Kaplan, Thanks man,
