Latest / Chrishell / Obsession (2026): would you still love me if i was a cat with worms
Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello everybody, and welcome back to Krishell.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Thank you, Hannah.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Yeah, you're welcome. We're back this week with a full
- 0:13Speaker 1: Krishelle about the movie Obsession that just came out in
- 0:17Speaker 1: theaters that we're obsessed with at the time.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Of this recording.
- 0:22Speaker 1: It just came out, but we have something special planned
- 0:26Speaker 1: for a little later on in the episode.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Do you want to So you know, I have friends
- 0:32Speaker 3: in every place, right sure, And I have a friend
- 0:37Speaker 3: that goes way way back from middle school, high school
- 0:41Speaker 3: and she worked on this film. I spoke to her
- 0:45Speaker 3: about it for like twenty minutes. So there's an interview
- 0:48Speaker 3: at the end of this episode, so if you stick around,
- 0:51Speaker 3: you'll be able to hear what went in into the
- 0:55Speaker 3: lighting on arguably the most scary scene in the movie
- 0:59Speaker 3: that we'll discuss, but I will keep that secret until
- 1:02Speaker 3: the end if you stick around.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Yeah, just note there is a little bit of a
- 1:06Speaker 1: spoiler in the interview.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I think if you get to then, like to that
- 1:11Speaker 3: point of the episode, you have already seen the movie,
- 1:14Speaker 3: you should expect spoilers like it is intense. And thank
- 1:19Speaker 3: you Kate for coming onto the show with us.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we appreciate it so much. She also shared with
- 1:25Speaker 2: us some bts.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Which is arguably really funny seeing the movie out of context,
- 1:31Speaker 3: where there are a bunch of men in like black
- 1:34Speaker 3: hats that work on set and they're like smiling around
- 1:37Speaker 3: like dead bodies and things.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but if you want to see that, check it
- 1:41Speaker 1: out on our Instagram at krishel the Pod. Follow us
- 1:45Speaker 1: there and there's gonna be a little bit of the
- 1:48Speaker 1: interview on there as well. So if you just want
- 1:51Speaker 1: to read it instead of listening to.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Us talk, you can do that. I guess.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Obsession twenty twenty sixth movie directed by Curry Barker. Wait
- 2:04Speaker 1: wait before we start.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Were you familiar with his work before seeing this movie?
- 2:09Speaker 2: No.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I have seen him a couple times on TikTok, and
- 2:15Speaker 3: I really didn't realize he was such a mastermind. I
- 2:19Speaker 3: was not expecting this. It felt very much like the
- 2:21Speaker 3: Philipoe Brothers with Talk to Me and Bring Her Back.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I mean, I did know that he's doing the new
- 2:28Speaker 1: Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Yeah, so that's what I That's kind
- 2:32Speaker 1: of the extent of what I knew about him, and
- 2:35Speaker 1: that he was like a younger director. Yeah, but that's
- 2:38Speaker 1: like the extent of my knowledge before this film.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Yeah, he's definitely grouped in with the Philipop Brothers. This
- 2:47Speaker 3: like YouTuber comedic man turned horror director.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and like Caine from back Rooms as well. Yes, yes, yes,
- 2:57Speaker 1: so I'm really kind of into that, Like seeing all
- 2:59Speaker 1: these kind of indie directors come up, like really passionate
- 3:03Speaker 1: and making short form content or like longer form content
- 3:08Speaker 1: on YouTube and then getting to make a future link
- 3:11Speaker 1: film Like, that's awesome to see.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Maybe the thing that will cure the male loneliness epidemic
- 3:18Speaker 3: is introducing these men into filmmaking, because a lot of
- 3:23Speaker 3: these stories that these guys are following are rooted in
- 3:27Speaker 3: you know, this nice guy persona that they talk about
- 3:32Speaker 3: in the movies. Maybe that's the way that we could
- 3:34Speaker 3: get men to start behaving.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I mean maybe, yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yeah, this movie to go like a little bit more
- 3:41Speaker 1: into that, a little brief overview before we get into
- 3:44Speaker 1: some more like spoilery things.
- 3:46Speaker 2: So this is the safe part.
- 3:48Speaker 1: We'll let you know when it's over if you want
- 3:49Speaker 1: to go watch the movie and come back, which we
- 3:51Speaker 1: highly recommend seeing it without spoilers.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Was actually insane.
- 3:56Speaker 1: M h. This was one of the rare films that
- 3:59Speaker 1: I feel like I watched most of it through my hands. Yes, yeah,
- 4:02Speaker 1: because we were sitting next to each other.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yeah, we were.
- 4:05Speaker 3: I like to take notes when I watched the movies
- 4:07Speaker 3: that we talk about on the podcast, and Hannah was
- 4:10Speaker 3: like tapping me aggressively. I'm like, oh my god, I
- 4:12Speaker 3: wonder what she's gonna write down. Her thought must be
- 4:14Speaker 3: so well thought out, and she wrote down, dude, I'm
- 4:18Speaker 3: so fucking scared right now in the book, and I was, Yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 3: it was like I could tell you're like about to
- 4:23Speaker 3: pee yourself in, like you She don't know.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Why I was that scared, Like, I mean it was scary, yeah,
- 4:28Speaker 1: but like I was just so freaked out.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I think I was expecting the movie to be good
- 4:33Speaker 3: because I knew a friend worked on it obviously, but
- 4:36Speaker 3: also I didn't expect it to be like consistently seen
- 4:41Speaker 3: after scene.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I was going to be petrified. Yeah, it was like
- 4:46Speaker 1: we went to one hundred and then we never left,
- 4:48Speaker 1: Like I put that yet on the pedal to the
- 4:49Speaker 1: paddle and we never let up. No, genuinely incredible. If
- 4:53Speaker 1: you watch the movie, like there is a lot of
- 4:55Speaker 1: press that the like director and the stars are doing
- 4:59Speaker 1: right now, which I think is awesome, And they're kind
- 5:01Speaker 1: of talking about a lot of the lore that's in
- 5:03Speaker 1: this universe, which I think is really interesting. And we
- 5:06Speaker 1: can talk more about that after when we get to
- 5:09Speaker 1: the spoilers, because a lot of it is discussing the ending.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Yeah, wait, can before we start, can I ask you
- 5:15Speaker 3: your opinion on this. I know the movie is shot
- 5:18Speaker 3: in California, but it felt so delco. It felt very
- 5:24Speaker 3: like South Jersey, Pa. Like I watched this movie and
- 5:30Speaker 3: saw people I know from school in these actors.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Well, because it starts in a dive bar, Well, doesn't
- 5:38Speaker 1: start in a dive bart. It starts in like this
- 5:40Speaker 1: kid's house and then he goes to a dive bar
- 5:42Speaker 1: to do trivia with his friends.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:44Speaker 3: It starts in a diner, which I think is very
- 5:46Speaker 3: South Jersey.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Well, New Jersey is the diner capital of the world.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it has like three hundred diners in the entire thing.
- 5:53Speaker 3: At most it had six hundred.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Yeah, but to start in a diner, it was just
- 5:57Speaker 1: giving me Jersey as well. Know if that's my own
- 6:00Speaker 1: personal bias or not, but no, it definitely felt that.
- 6:04Speaker 1: In the diner scene, we have our main character Bear
- 6:07Speaker 1: and he's talking to this girl. She's not given a
- 6:10Speaker 1: name in the moment, but he is addressing someone named
- 6:12Speaker 1: NICKI MM, and he's trying to figure out a way
- 6:17Speaker 1: to ask her out.
- 6:18Speaker 2: He's running through it. His friend is there.
- 6:21Speaker 3: He's like pouring his heart out to a next level,
- 6:25Speaker 3: saying things like, you were always there for me. I
- 6:28Speaker 3: really appreciate everything you've ever done for me, You've always listened.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Watching it as a viewer, you're maybe this is me
- 6:36Speaker 3: being a pessimist asshole, but I was like, these are
- 6:39Speaker 3: kind of minute things that I guess you can like
- 6:43Speaker 3: thank someone for listening, like to you for but I
- 6:47Speaker 3: felt like they were very You should expect them from anyone,
- 6:51Speaker 3: not just a very pretty girl that you're in love with.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Yeah, we find out that this person that he's professing
- 6:56Speaker 1: his love too in this scene isn't actually the girl
- 7:00Speaker 1: that he's in love with.
- 7:01Speaker 2: A little bit of.
- 7:02Speaker 1: A bait and switch on me and his friend Ian
- 7:05Speaker 1: is sitting behind him and critiquing his approach, which is
- 7:10Speaker 1: valid because his approach is really weird.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Wait.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Wait, we find out that those woman that he's talking
- 7:15Speaker 3: to is the waitress that works at the diner, and
- 7:18Speaker 3: she gets up after Ian dismisses her. We find out
- 7:21Speaker 3: that he was acting this whole time and trying to
- 7:23Speaker 3: figure out how to actually ask out this girl.
- 7:26Speaker 1: He likes Nicki. The way that they all know each other,
- 7:29Speaker 1: like Ian, the main character, Bear, Nicki, and this other girl, Sarah,
- 7:35Speaker 1: is that they all work together.
- 7:36Speaker 2: They work for Sarah's dad. I believe who.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Is Andy Richter?
- 7:40Speaker 1: The actor? I loved seeing him. I was not expecting that. Yeah,
- 7:45Speaker 1: he was a nice little like one of those horror
- 7:46Speaker 1: cameos that they're just gonna like a throwaway. Yeah, like
- 7:50Speaker 1: who's that guy in I SLA TV glow? Oh Fred Durst. Yeah,
- 7:55Speaker 1: you're welcome, thank you.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I'm not gonna get into the spoilery report of this section.
- 8:00Speaker 1: After this, we kind of get to the main crux
- 8:04Speaker 1: of the film is that Bear cannot really bring himself
- 8:08Speaker 1: to tell Nicki how he feels, and instead relies on
- 8:12Speaker 1: this little thing he gets called a one wish willow.
- 8:16Speaker 1: He's not he doesn't really know it's gonna work in
- 8:18Speaker 1: the beginning, and he wishes that Nicki would love him
- 8:20Speaker 1: more than anyone else in the entire world. And then
- 8:23Speaker 1: he breaks it, and some weird things start to happen.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Things seem to get weirder as the friend group notices
- 8:30Speaker 3: that Nicki is head over heels for Baron and that
- 8:34Speaker 3: the relationship just keeps getting more and more and more
- 8:37Speaker 3: intimate despite them only being together for an unknown amount
- 8:41Speaker 3: of days. But it seems like rather like a week
- 8:43Speaker 3: or two, not even.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it just gets like exponentially like gushy.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Yeah, Nicki finds herself moving into Baron's house without asking,
- 8:54Speaker 3: and she definitely leaves an imprint on his home by
- 8:58Speaker 3: constantly staying there even when he's at work or when
- 9:01Speaker 3: he goes to parties or when he goes out.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Well when he doesn't go to parties.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I guess, Yeah, that is the least spoilery overview that
- 9:09Speaker 1: we can give you.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like that was the the plot, right.
- 9:14Speaker 3: The front group is mad at him and them for
- 9:17Speaker 3: being so head over heels. There's definitely suspicion as to
- 9:20Speaker 3: what happened. There's rumors that Nikki is using drugs and
- 9:25Speaker 3: that's why she's acting like this. No one realizes that
- 9:30Speaker 3: she's actually under the spell of which Bear had wished
- 9:33Speaker 3: upon her. Shall we jump into like more gritty details.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Though, Yeah, like spoilery.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't want to like get too into what
- 9:44Speaker 1: exactly happens. I want to talk about what we thought
- 9:46Speaker 1: about it rather than like that. But this will involve
- 9:51Speaker 1: things that do happen later on in the film. Yeah,
- 9:54Speaker 1: so obviously listen with caution. Please also note that this
- 9:58Speaker 1: movie does have themes of self so if you're sensitive
- 10:01Speaker 1: to that, maybe sit this one out. We are going
- 10:05Speaker 1: to discuss it probably a little bit, so just listen
- 10:08Speaker 1: with caution.
- 10:09Speaker 3: There is also this undertone of what I would say
- 10:13Speaker 3: as sexual assault or violence against women throughout the entire film,
- 10:18Speaker 3: So if you're sensitive to that as well, I know
- 10:21Speaker 3: that this is such a crazy matters, so I don't
- 10:24Speaker 3: judge you for not listening. It is a pretty heavy movie,
- 10:27Speaker 3: and it did take a lot for even me to
- 10:30Speaker 3: go into the theater kind of knowing what to expect.
- 10:33Speaker 1: It was worse than what I expected. Yeah, I definitely
- 10:36Speaker 1: didn't expect a lot of the things that were darker
- 10:41Speaker 1: than we saw.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I did think it was.
- 10:43Speaker 1: An incredible movie. I think they dealt with all of
- 10:45Speaker 1: those kind of scenes really well. To get into the
- 10:48Speaker 1: spoilery part of the movie, the thing that the one
- 10:51Speaker 1: wish Willow does when Bear wishes upon it to cast
- 10:56Speaker 1: this spell into Nikki is essentially as confirmed by the
- 11:00Speaker 1: director and the cast, that the real Nikki is kind
- 11:04Speaker 1: of placed into the passenger seat, like she's kind of
- 11:06Speaker 1: somewhere else, and Wish Niki is born and she kind
- 11:12Speaker 1: of starts off as like a baby, which I thought
- 11:15Speaker 1: was another kind of like gross detail.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Oh I see.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah, So like in the when he first like wishes,
- 11:22Speaker 1: they have really awkward interactions that like real Nicky would
- 11:27Speaker 1: never have with him, So you can see it's like
- 11:29Speaker 1: the wish Nikki coming out and like learning what is
- 11:32Speaker 1: happening in this world for the first time, like she
- 11:34Speaker 1: almost doesn't understand it.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Yeah, real Niki is definitely a very kind woman. We
- 11:40Speaker 3: see her giving money to a homeless person outside the
- 11:43Speaker 3: bar they were at, and she's definitely a good friend.
- 11:47Speaker 3: But also she is a bit laid back. She's not
- 11:52Speaker 3: I'm trying to discover like a word that would describe her.
- 11:56Speaker 1: She's very keuth.
- 11:58Speaker 3: They like manic pixie dream she is manic Pixie dream girl.
- 12:01Speaker 1: That's absolutely what she is.
- 12:03Speaker 3: And then when she's under the spell, she becomes a
- 12:06Speaker 3: very coquette, very perfect like TikTok girlfriend, I would say, yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I was talking about this with you, not to cut
- 12:16Speaker 2: you off. No, it's fine.
- 12:17Speaker 1: If you've seen the movie Companion with Sophie Thatcher and
- 12:21Speaker 1: Jack Quaid, I think it came out last summer, it's similar,
- 12:26Speaker 1: but not that similar. Where the kind of crux of
- 12:30Speaker 1: that movie is that Sophie Thatcher's character Iris is basically
- 12:34Speaker 1: a robot that Jack Quaid had made to be his girlfriend,
- 12:40Speaker 1: to have sex with her, to bring her around, to
- 12:42Speaker 1: show her off. And when she's under she comes out
- 12:46Speaker 1: of her like mind control kind of thing later in
- 12:50Speaker 1: the film, but when she's under that mind control, it's
- 12:54Speaker 1: kind of giving me the same vibe as like Nikki
- 12:55Speaker 1: and this where she's also like very coquette, Like it's
- 12:58Speaker 1: a very like if you were trying to make a
- 13:01Speaker 1: character and it was like, okay, like this is what
- 13:04Speaker 1: a teenage boy right now would want in a girlfriend. Yeah,
- 13:08Speaker 1: Like a girl without any agency, without like any goals
- 13:12Speaker 1: of her own, Like that's what wish Nikki and what
- 13:15Speaker 1: like Iris and Companion is. So what leads Bear to
- 13:20Speaker 1: making the wish is that he offers to drive Nikki
- 13:25Speaker 1: home from trivia night and it's Ian, his best friend,
- 13:28Speaker 1: their other coworker, Sarah, who Bear thinks that Ian is
- 13:33Speaker 1: trying to like get with Yeah, and then.
- 13:36Speaker 3: You kind of do see the scene of the four
- 13:39Speaker 3: people at the table and it seems like Ian and
- 13:41Speaker 3: Sarah are dating or flirting. I feel like she like
- 13:44Speaker 3: hits some or is like and I did want to
- 13:47Speaker 3: note something in the scene where you like see all of.
- 13:50Speaker 2: The characters interact.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Bear's cat dies and that's like one of the first
- 13:55Speaker 1: things that happens to him personally in the movie. His
- 13:58Speaker 1: cat overdose is on codone and dies and he finds
- 14:03Speaker 1: the cat. The only person who he tells what happens
- 14:05Speaker 1: to the cat is Sarah, and he goes on to
- 14:09Speaker 1: preach about how Nicki is like the only person he
- 14:11Speaker 1: could talk to, but clearly like he couldn't even tell
- 14:13Speaker 1: her about the cat. But when he sees Sarah, the
- 14:15Speaker 1: first thing he does is just say like she.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Died, and she hugs him, she consoles him properly. It
- 14:23Speaker 3: isn't this all which I kind of believe you would
- 14:27Speaker 3: have gotten from Nicki.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I think she does do that.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Yeah, that guy, She's like all Bear, Yeah, And then
- 14:34Speaker 3: like Sarah is throwing herself not throwing, but like she
- 14:38Speaker 3: hugs him.
- 14:39Speaker 1: She's like, oh my god, please let me know if
- 14:40Speaker 1: we need to talk. Yeah, she's being like a good friend,
- 14:43Speaker 1: like a genuine friend, something you would want to be around.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Not saying Nicki's not someone you'd want to be around,
- 14:48Speaker 1: but she's like bouncing around like the bar, like doing whatever.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And then she goes outside and she goes to give
- 14:54Speaker 1: the homeless man money, Like we kind of see that overall,
- 14:58Speaker 1: Nicki is a genuinely person. I think like each of
- 15:02Speaker 1: the women in this film are portrayed in an incredibly
- 15:05Speaker 1: positive light, which is like the case mostly Yeah, I
- 15:08Speaker 1: would say with women, and we kind of go out
- 15:11Speaker 1: of our way to emphasize how bad that Bear and
- 15:15Speaker 1: Ian are.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I do think My woke feminist take of the
- 15:21Speaker 3: week is that do we really need to see Nikki
- 15:25Speaker 3: giving money to a homeless man to assume that she's good?
- 15:29Speaker 3: If we like, no, No, Like if we went the
- 15:31Speaker 3: whole movie and thought, oh, this girl experimented with drugs,
- 15:35Speaker 3: would that make me think that she's an awful person? No,
- 15:38Speaker 3: Definitely an interesting idea to make sure you noticed her
- 15:43Speaker 3: giving money to a homeless person.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Like she is genuinely a good person.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Yeah, And it's like, was that necessary I did that today?
- 15:50Speaker 1: But I think it's like to imply that if it
- 15:55Speaker 1: came down to it, if he did tell her that
- 15:59Speaker 1: he had a crush on her, went badly, Like I
- 16:00Speaker 1: don't think she would let it be off out.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:04Speaker 1: But once Bear takes her home, they're having this conversation
- 16:07Speaker 1: about because she's a writer, Nicki's a writer, and they
- 16:11Speaker 1: go out of their way to make the point that
- 16:12Speaker 1: Nicki knows the difference between romance and a love story, yeah,
- 16:16Speaker 1: which becomes more important later in the film once she
- 16:20Speaker 1: no longer has agency.
- 16:22Speaker 3: So we got to Nicki's house, she gets out of
- 16:27Speaker 3: the car. There's obviously some awkward tension. Bear had said
- 16:32Speaker 3: that he had gotten her a gift, and she gets
- 16:36Speaker 3: out of the car before receiving sad gift. He then
- 16:41Speaker 3: he calls her name. He says he calls her a
- 16:44Speaker 3: nickname that she does not like.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Before Nicki gets out of the car, she asks Bear
- 16:48Speaker 1: straight up if he likes their friend Sarah, and he
- 16:51Speaker 1: kind of panics internally because like he's like, oh, fuck, well,
- 16:54Speaker 1: what am I supposed to do? Like she thinks I
- 16:56Speaker 1: like her? Like whatever, and then he calls her freak
- 17:00Speaker 1: nicky that name to try to I don't know, like
- 17:04Speaker 1: nag her. Yeah, it was because Ian had suggested it, yes,
- 17:08Speaker 1: in the beginning, because you know, obviously men do think
- 17:12Speaker 1: bullying women is a form of flirting. Nikki gets out
- 17:16Speaker 1: of the car, she goes inside or she like, she
- 17:19Speaker 1: turns around, and I think it like clicks for her
- 17:22Speaker 1: that like, oh, he's he likes me, Like that's the case,
- 17:25Speaker 1: and she comes back to ask him that and she's like, okay,
- 17:28Speaker 1: like last chance, this is the only chance you'll have
- 17:30Speaker 1: to say this. And in that that's when I kind
- 17:33Speaker 1: of thought like maybe she did have a little bit
- 17:36Speaker 1: of a thing for him. Oh you felt opposite. Yeah,
- 17:39Speaker 1: I don't think she likes him at all.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I think she's kind of like annoyed that he is
- 17:43Speaker 3: her coworker because she can tell that he likes her.
- 17:47Speaker 3: The way I interpreted it was like this girl. The
- 17:51Speaker 3: reason why I thought freaking Nikki was like a sexual
- 17:53Speaker 3: innuendo was because she has had this line of men
- 17:57Speaker 3: having a crush on her and she was just sad
- 18:00Speaker 3: that another friend she thought she had like actually did
- 18:03Speaker 3: have a crush on her.
- 18:04Speaker 1: That was just what I digested it as I kind
- 18:07Speaker 1: of took it as like she's trying to help her
- 18:10Speaker 1: friend out. Like I think, like again, we're seeing like
- 18:12Speaker 1: she is set up to be this like selfless person,
- 18:16Speaker 1: like she would put that aside to ask a boy
- 18:18Speaker 1: that her friend likes, like if he liked her first,
- 18:21Speaker 1: even however she felt about him. And I think like
- 18:24Speaker 1: maybe in that moment it was like her being like
- 18:26Speaker 1: all right, like if he tells me yes, then like
- 18:30Speaker 1: I don't think they would have started dating immediately, like
- 18:32Speaker 1: maybe like something would have happened, but like at a
- 18:36Speaker 1: normal pace.
- 18:37Speaker 3: I'm also remembering now that the money that she gives
- 18:40Speaker 3: to the homeless man is cash that Sarah had, So
- 18:44Speaker 3: it's almost like in this experience that we see of
- 18:46Speaker 3: her being selfless, it is still driven by Sarah.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's an important like note, because like
- 18:54Speaker 1: Sarah is like the only person that we see like
- 18:57Speaker 1: kind of worried about everybody.
- 18:58Speaker 3: M M.
- 18:59Speaker 1: She's very hue. Even though she's like trying to get
- 19:02Speaker 1: into colleges, like she's like applying to colleges and getting
- 19:04Speaker 1: rejected and rejected and rejected, She's still like going out
- 19:08Speaker 1: of her way to check on Niki. Like, even after
- 19:10Speaker 1: the wish is made, she's like trying to see what's
- 19:13Speaker 1: up with her. Yeah, because her friend isn't the same.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Yeah, and these kids aren't high school age. I know,
- 19:20Speaker 3: you say Sarah's college.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Yeah, they took a year off or two.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Like she is just a bit older. They're at
- 19:27Speaker 3: a bar, and I don't think anything is like nefarious
- 19:29Speaker 3: or illegal.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I just think they Sarah said, they said something about
- 19:33Speaker 1: being nineteen at one point. Yeah, they're not nineteen now, Like, no.
- 19:37Speaker 3: They're definitely older. He has his own place, presumably well
- 19:40Speaker 3: because his grandpa.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Yeah, her grandma died. So after that, that's when she
- 19:45Speaker 1: hits the fan. He makes the wish wish. Nicky is born,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and she like tries to figure out the world according
- 19:52Speaker 1: to what Bear wants. And when she does this, she
- 19:55Speaker 1: lies about her dad having cancer because she thinks it's
- 19:58Speaker 1: gonna garner sympathy from him. She kind of takes bits
- 20:03Speaker 1: and pieces of what Nicky and Bear's conversations are and
- 20:07Speaker 1: like kind of like uses them because she starts talking
- 20:10Speaker 1: about Bear's cat, and she uses the cat a couple
- 20:15Speaker 1: other times throughout the film to try to like connect
- 20:18Speaker 1: it with him uses it in more ways than one
- 20:20Speaker 1: that we won't we don't need to discuss that. No, no,
- 20:24Speaker 1: we have two cats in the room right now. As
- 20:26Speaker 1: we go on, it's just like, really, I won't lie.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Like I did really like the movie. I give you
- 20:31Speaker 1: five stars, but it is a hard watch because you're
- 20:33Speaker 1: seeing this woman go through this terrible thing her everything
- 20:37Speaker 1: is taken from her Legitimately.
- 20:39Speaker 3: I don't think I'll ever watch this movie again. I
- 20:42Speaker 3: do think it was one of the best movies I've
- 20:44Speaker 3: seen this year.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Is I feel like he's definitely aware that she's not
- 20:48Speaker 1: really herself, like there's something going on.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Well, yeah, absolutely, especially the one scene that she does
- 20:56Speaker 3: flash in and out.
- 20:57Speaker 1: She falls off the bed.
- 20:58Speaker 3: There are multiple times that they're there are obvious red
- 21:02Speaker 3: flags that this girl is not her real self, and
- 21:06Speaker 3: he just either walks out the room, brushes it off,
- 21:09Speaker 3: or goes back to bed, like he kind of just
- 21:10Speaker 3: doesn't give a fuck. He's kind of happy that he
- 21:13Speaker 3: just has NICKI.
- 21:13Speaker 1: In general, Yeah, and it doesn't matter how many times
- 21:18Speaker 1: like Ian calls or like Sarah calls to be like, hey,
- 21:21Speaker 1: like something's up with her, Like like even if it
- 21:24Speaker 1: was like I feel like he kind of takes it
- 21:26Speaker 1: as a personal attack whenever they bring it up, because
- 21:29Speaker 1: he Yeah, he does use the same line like later
- 21:32Speaker 1: in the film. He doesn't say this in the beginning,
- 21:34Speaker 1: but he kind of frames they're like, oh, something's wrong
- 21:36Speaker 1: with NICKI. He kind of takes it as like, oh, like,
- 21:39Speaker 1: what's so bad about being with me? He is necessary too,
- 21:43Speaker 1: He's a very pitiful person.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Yeah, which you know, I've never been in a place
- 21:47Speaker 3: like this where I have felt alone like this, But
- 21:50Speaker 3: oh my god, dude, you're like nineteen twenty twenty one
- 21:53Speaker 3: years old.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Get on Tinder, no girl alone.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Literally get out of Delco like this fake Delko in
- 22:01Speaker 3: my brain and like, go find someone else. But I
- 22:04Speaker 3: also think that that is just part of the reasoning
- 22:07Speaker 3: behind the film. It is this nice guy looking to
- 22:11Speaker 3: manipulate and use women that are kind, that want to
- 22:15Speaker 3: give him a nice time of day.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I think even like.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I don't like, I wouldn't say like fully that he's
- 22:23Speaker 1: realizing he's doing it. Like I think he's just like, oh,
- 22:26Speaker 1: like I want her to like me, Like, yeah, I
- 22:29Speaker 1: think it is built this connection. Like I do think
- 22:32Speaker 1: he does think he's like owed it absolutely, but I
- 22:35Speaker 1: don't think he's consciously like trying to be the manipulator
- 22:38Speaker 1: in the situation until later in the film.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he is using his self pity to
- 22:43Speaker 3: perpetuate this idea that he is deserving of this girl
- 22:46Speaker 3: because he is the one that made the wish.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:49Speaker 1: And I think like he hits this turning point in
- 22:55Speaker 1: the film where correct me if I'm wrong in the
- 22:58Speaker 1: chronological order of things, but he calls about the no.
- 23:05Speaker 3: No, he calls later when things are getting scary.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Yeah, So he doesn't seek to change anything at any point.
- 23:13Speaker 1: And there's this one scene wheally have this huge like
- 23:16Speaker 1: blow up argument in a diner or like at dinner. Yeah,
- 23:21Speaker 1: it's a fancy dinner. He like kind of he's like, oh,
- 23:24Speaker 1: like this is weird. Like it kind of like dawns
- 23:26Speaker 1: on him that it's weird and there's something going on
- 23:29Speaker 1: because he confronts her about lying about the brain cancer
- 23:32Speaker 1: or her dad's cancer.
- 23:34Speaker 3: And to add to that, this is also me going
- 23:38Speaker 3: on like again another sidetrack. I'm questioning if one of
- 23:42Speaker 3: his relatives, maybe the grandma that gave him the house,
- 23:46Speaker 3: had died from cancer because I'm thinking this use of
- 23:50Speaker 3: oxycodon in the beginning, and why someone would have that.
- 23:54Speaker 3: I know, obviously this is set now they have iPhones.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I think it does say twenty twenty four in her
- 23:59Speaker 3: except and' letter. Oxy codon and oxy caught in they're
- 24:03Speaker 3: kind of the same thing. They're not the same realistically.
- 24:07Speaker 3: If an old woman has prescribed oxy codon, I'm thinking
- 24:11Speaker 3: she had like a form of cancer herself or something.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:15Speaker 3: So it's like, I wonder if freaky Nikki possessed brain
- 24:21Speaker 3: knew that of him, knew that the cat had died
- 24:23Speaker 3: from that, and was using that against him in order
- 24:26Speaker 3: to garner his own empathy. Yeah, yeah, because he was
- 24:30Speaker 3: living through it too. Yeah. But in this dinner scene
- 24:35Speaker 3: that we have with Niki and Bear, once he comes
- 24:41Speaker 3: to her and says, oh, I know you're lying about
- 24:43Speaker 3: your father having cancer, she stands up and has a
- 24:47Speaker 3: freak out in front of the whole restaurant. She's going
- 24:50Speaker 3: off like, why are you doing this? Why are you
- 24:53Speaker 3: making dinner such a bad thing. I thought we were
- 24:56Speaker 3: having a good day. She's like screaming, getting attention from
- 24:59Speaker 3: the restaurant. And I interpreted this as the way there's
- 25:04Speaker 3: this infantilization of women nowadays, especially popular on social media,
- 25:10Speaker 3: where these girls are like, oh, my boyfriend is my dad,
- 25:13Speaker 3: Like he cares for me, He does everything for me.
- 25:15Speaker 3: He calms me down when I have freak outs, like
- 25:18Speaker 3: he lets me be a brat and goes on and
- 25:20Speaker 3: on and on. It felt very she is a toddler
- 25:24Speaker 3: and Bear is the one that is the parent, Like
- 25:27Speaker 3: it is this ownership. It is this like excuse for
- 25:30Speaker 3: him to a correcting her. He's correcting her, and it
- 25:35Speaker 3: is this moment where he's able to punish her almost
- 25:40Speaker 3: like he's like, just sit down. Yeah, he's not listening.
- 25:44Speaker 3: He kind of is catching on that things are bad,
- 25:46Speaker 3: but he's not.
- 25:47Speaker 1: He's ignoring it. He's willfully ignored.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Yes, so he's enabling her to act like this. He's
- 25:52Speaker 3: not really looking to help her. Yeah, and he's allowing
- 25:56Speaker 3: this to go on and on. It is like I
- 25:59Speaker 3: just saw this the way I see it on social media,
- 26:01Speaker 3: where these girls are like, oh my dad care Like
- 26:03Speaker 3: my boyfriend cares for me like a dad, which I
- 26:06Speaker 3: think is kind of gross, but to Nikki, like it's
- 26:11Speaker 3: that's how she has to live now, like she doesn't
- 26:13Speaker 3: have any other choice.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Yeah, like wish Nikki because she doesn't get anything.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Else, and you were saying, like she doesn't know anything else.
- 26:21Speaker 3: I almost don't think that wish Nikki is inherently evil.
- 26:26Speaker 3: I think the one thing that she needs to do
- 26:28Speaker 3: every single day is make sure that she loves Bear
- 26:32Speaker 3: more than anyone else in the world. So it might
- 26:35Speaker 3: be coming off as evil or as psycho or as freakish,
- 26:39Speaker 3: but that's legitimately the one reason why she was like
- 26:42Speaker 3: quote unquote created. Yeah, she's putting this girl physically through
- 26:48Speaker 3: insane loops of like physical harm, but she's not doing
- 26:53Speaker 3: it intentionally. She's not looking to harm her. She's looking
- 26:56Speaker 3: to make sure nothing gets in between her and Bear.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Yea, and like that's the whole reason she exists. Yeah,
- 27:02Speaker 1: it's exactly the thing that I did think was interesting though.
- 27:06Speaker 1: That kind of adds to like the infantilization of wish Nikki,
- 27:10Speaker 1: like being born and not like knowing a lot. Like
- 27:13Speaker 1: after the scene of the diner, it cuts to Bear
- 27:16Speaker 1: like assaulting Nikki, using her body and assaulting her, raping her,
- 27:26Speaker 1: and we see in this scene that it's actually it's
- 27:31Speaker 1: real Nikki. That's like in the body she can't do
- 27:34Speaker 1: anything but it's real Niki who is like living that experience.
- 27:39Speaker 1: So I feel like in that scene, we can see
- 27:41Speaker 1: that like Okay, like wish Nikki ducked out of this
- 27:44Speaker 1: because she doesn't know how to please him in this way.
- 27:48Speaker 1: That's how I like, she's just such she's something. She's
- 27:52Speaker 1: this entity that has no agency that's just like coming
- 27:56Speaker 1: into the world that doesn't understand what's going on other
- 27:58Speaker 1: than she needs to make him happy, and like she's
- 28:02Speaker 1: like okay, like I don't know what this is, like
- 28:04Speaker 1: what he wants to do, so I'm going to like
- 28:07Speaker 1: put the other Nikki in the driver's seat. I think
- 28:10Speaker 1: is so awful as well, because she's like the only
- 28:13Speaker 1: thing she's allowed to have agency in is her own
- 28:16Speaker 1: assault is being raped.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that's I did not even think about that, but
- 28:21Speaker 3: that really does make perfect sense because why would this
- 28:23Speaker 3: entity that came from wherever know how to yeah know
- 28:29Speaker 3: about a heterosexual sex. Yeah, that would make sense. Why
- 28:33Speaker 3: when they're making out too, Nickki comes into fruition, Yeah,
- 28:38Speaker 3: because he's like moving as if they were to have sex.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:43Speaker 1: I think like again, like it's just like the inexperience
- 28:46Speaker 1: of it, like like not like sexual experience, but just
- 28:49Speaker 1: like lived experience. Like yeah, wish Nikki is still operating
- 28:53Speaker 1: kind of like at a different level of like consciousness,
- 28:58Speaker 1: Like she's just like younger. She hasn't been exposed to
- 29:01Speaker 1: this yet because like the only thing she knows is him,
- 29:04Speaker 1: and like I think we also see that at the end,
- 29:07Speaker 1: like she just wants him to love her.
- 29:09Speaker 2: He doesn't.
- 29:10Speaker 1: She doesn't ask him to like touch her, she doesn't
- 29:12Speaker 1: ask him to like m m do anything sexual with her.
- 29:16Speaker 1: She just like wants him to love her. Like that's
- 29:18Speaker 1: the whole thing. Like there's nothing else like that matters
- 29:22Speaker 1: in that.
- 29:24Speaker 3: I'm trying to think there's no other sex scenes or no,
- 29:27Speaker 3: I guess that wasn't a sex scene, but depictions of
- 29:29Speaker 3: sex after.
- 29:31Speaker 1: That, no, so spoiler. At the end, wish Nikki wishes
- 29:37Speaker 1: Bear to love her more than anyone else and they
- 29:40Speaker 1: don't even kiss immediately. I don't think like when or no.
- 29:44Speaker 3: They do can't wait, No, I don't know if you
- 29:47Speaker 3: picked up on this. I didn't realize it either. I
- 29:49Speaker 3: thought it was him going back and forth between this issue.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Apparently when she wishes for him to love her equally
- 29:58Speaker 3: when they go back and kiss, that's because he's on
- 30:00Speaker 3: to her spell.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Now, oh yeah, because like if she had to wish,
- 30:05Speaker 1: he never really loved her in the first place, you
- 30:08Speaker 1: know what I mean?
- 30:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that would be wish nikki though, right.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of wishes. A lot of nikkis a.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Lot of wishes.
- 30:15Speaker 1: It also.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Like, what would you wish for if you had a
- 30:20Speaker 3: one wish? Wellow, what would you be wishing for?
- 30:23Speaker 2: I don't really know if I would use it.
- 30:25Speaker 3: No, I I'm always been anti using Guiji boards, anti
- 30:30Speaker 3: trying to do anything of vi occult that I wasn't
- 30:34Speaker 3: mentally prepared for and knowing of how to handle. Absolutely
- 30:38Speaker 3: would not fucking purchase this.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Well.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Also, like I'm not I'm superstitious, Like you know, I'm
- 30:44Speaker 1: an incredibly superstitious person. Like I knock on wood all
- 30:47Speaker 1: the time, like salt over my shoulder. And I've seen
- 30:52Speaker 1: people buying these because Bluehouse was selling them, and people
- 30:56Speaker 1: they'll like post like them breaking them and be like,
- 30:59Speaker 1: oh I wish for them, and it's like that's I
- 31:01Speaker 1: know it's not real, but like, oh my god, Like
- 31:04Speaker 1: that's the point.
- 31:05Speaker 3: I dare I say, to the point of the movie
- 31:09Speaker 3: is like this woman is being literally a slave to
- 31:13Speaker 3: a man and then you're gonna be like, well I'm
- 31:15Speaker 3: gonna use my witch and which I had four million dollars.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Like, so I saw an interview where uh Curry Barker
- 31:23Speaker 1: was talking about like how you can like outsmart the wish,
- 31:26Speaker 1: Like obviously I really wish for like world peace or
- 31:29Speaker 1: something or like end world hunger. But we were talking
- 31:33Speaker 1: about this in the car the other day, like you
- 31:35Speaker 1: have to be incredibly careful of how you hurd it
- 31:37Speaker 1: and like what exactly you're wishing for, because like even
- 31:40Speaker 1: ending world hunger, that might mean you're just ending hunger
- 31:43Speaker 1: as a concept, and like people are just gonna starve
- 31:45Speaker 1: to death because they don't know what hunger is anymore.
- 31:49Speaker 1: And like I'm hoping world peace wouldn't be like that,
- 31:52Speaker 1: No one person can have unlimited power like this and
- 31:55Speaker 1: like have it not turn out kind of a little weird, Yeah,
- 32:00Speaker 1: there would be some consequence.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Well, especially at the end. Major spoiler, but when Bear dies,
- 32:08Speaker 3: Ian is dead, Sarah is dead, Nicky wakes up, wish
- 32:13Speaker 3: Nikki is no longer because in order for her spell
- 32:16Speaker 3: to break, Bear has to literally die because he was
- 32:19Speaker 3: the one who wished for it.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Well, what I thought was gonna happen. Actually was kind
- 32:23Speaker 1: of like a fear Street thing where like he tries
- 32:27Speaker 1: to stop his heart.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Oh, I thought that too. I really could think that
- 32:32Speaker 3: not the case. I thought he was gonna odi and
- 32:35Speaker 3: then wish Niki was going to resuscitate him, and then yeah,
- 32:38Speaker 3: everything was fine again. But then she shot Ian in
- 32:42Speaker 3: the face, and I was like, oh, I know nothing
- 32:44Speaker 3: is gonna go back to normal.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Because Ian wished for a billion dollars or something. Because eventually,
- 32:51Speaker 1: like Bear goes to get him to try to undo
- 32:54Speaker 1: the wish, and we do. He does ask the shopkeeper
- 32:58Speaker 1: of like where he got the wish initial like for help,
- 33:01Speaker 1: like if he'll wish for him, but like the shopkeeper says,
- 33:03Speaker 1: like he already made his wish, so he can't make
- 33:05Speaker 1: a second one. So like, I guess we can assume that,
- 33:07Speaker 1: like nothing really terrible happened with that.
- 33:12Speaker 3: I know, I wonder what his wish was in order
- 33:14Speaker 3: to keep this store alive.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Up.
- 33:16Speaker 3: No, He's like, can I have my store be cute
- 33:19Speaker 3: as hell?
- 33:19Speaker 1: That would literally be your wish store right here.
- 33:23Speaker 3: I want my apartment to be so cute, and then
- 33:26Speaker 3: I break it and then nothing changed.
- 33:30Speaker 1: And then nothing changed, but Ricky's gone and he's polka
- 33:33Speaker 1: dotting the ceiling in your bathroom for like ten hours.
- 33:37Speaker 3: I do think, like it is really fucked up that
- 33:40Speaker 3: Curry Barker. Of course, there would be no other ending
- 33:43Speaker 3: but that he has real Nikki have to wake up
- 33:47Speaker 3: and almost relive through these horrors by realizing what she
- 33:51Speaker 3: has done.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Well, he did confirm that, like she goes to jail.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Which is so fucked up, Like I mean, she didn't
- 33:58Speaker 3: do any of this and they're gonna blame it on MTMA.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Well, it's kind of the like Ready or Not fallacy,
- 34:04Speaker 1: like Ready if you listen to her episode and Ready
- 34:07Speaker 1: or Not one and two, it was my colonel, my
- 34:08Speaker 1: first colonel. But in the beginning of Ready or Not two,
- 34:12Speaker 1: if you're not familiar with how the first one ends,
- 34:14Speaker 1: her entire in law family spontaneously combusts and she gets arrested,
- 34:20Speaker 1: like almost instantaneously. I'm not saying that no one questions
- 34:25Speaker 1: going to come up with that conclusion quick enough and
- 34:28Speaker 1: get all the lawns and stuff quick enough to like
- 34:31Speaker 1: do that, But.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Well, how about you explode someone like legitimately a house.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Burnt down, so they were just like, oh, you.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Caused a fire, but like she's all bloody in a
- 34:40Speaker 3: wedding guest anyway.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Yeah, And I mean Nikki's all bloody holding at least
- 34:45Speaker 1: one body. Yeah, I went prints her everywhere.
- 34:48Speaker 3: I wonder if there's enough witnesses at the party to
- 34:51Speaker 3: be like, yeah, she didn't seem like she was in
- 34:53Speaker 3: her mental wellness.
- 34:54Speaker 1: So I mean, like, I feel like that wouldn't help her.
- 34:57Speaker 3: Yeah, they'd definitely be like, oh, so you actually were
- 35:00Speaker 3: doing at that point.
- 35:01Speaker 2: I would also want to kill myself.
- 35:03Speaker 1: So girl. Yeah, I just feel so bad that, like
- 35:08Speaker 1: she suffers all the consequences for everything that Bear did.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Like yes, not just as wish Nikki, but as real
- 35:14Speaker 1: Nikki too. Like she's the one that's gonna have to
- 35:18Speaker 1: atone for the fact that Barr did this thing to
- 35:21Speaker 1: her that made her kill her closest friends.
- 35:25Speaker 3: My biggest takeaway from this film, I think, is the
- 35:28Speaker 3: response that I saw online afterwards. I don't know, Hannah
- 35:32Speaker 3: if you've been seeing.
- 35:33Speaker 1: This, but my entire Twitter has been obsession.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Wait.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Also, I haven't slept well in like three days because like,
- 35:41Speaker 1: at night, I sleep with the door open so the
- 35:42Speaker 1: cats can get in and out. And I just kept
- 35:45Speaker 1: waking up thinking that Nikki was in the doorway.
- 35:48Speaker 3: The one scene of her crying in the corner where
- 35:50Speaker 3: she's like collect to sleep and then she's like weeping.
- 35:55Speaker 1: That has stayed with me.
- 35:56Speaker 3: And the back like the walking backwards weird lamb movie.
- 36:01Speaker 2: She just did that, Like that wasn't an effect.
- 36:06Speaker 1: I think they like speed changed the speed a little bit,
- 36:08Speaker 1: but it wasn't anything like in CGI or whatever. I
- 36:12Speaker 1: do want to say, uh, Indy never read. The girl
- 36:16Speaker 1: that plays Nikki phenomenal girl, so incredibly good. She's only
- 36:25Speaker 1: she was in like Superman and Lois before this if
- 36:27Speaker 1: you know that show, No, but this is her first
- 36:31Speaker 1: like big movie acting role and she's good, like killed it.
- 36:36Speaker 3: She carried the whole movam she really did.
- 36:39Speaker 1: I do think the guy that played Bear was also incredible. Yes,
- 36:43Speaker 1: apparently he is a boy kisser, so happy Pride.
- 36:47Speaker 2: I love that for him.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Chrishelle Pride episodes coming up soon. Pride is so big
- 36:54Speaker 3: and then we have an a month so.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Well okay, yeah, But also do th like having the
- 37:02Speaker 1: guy that plays Bear like be clear is a very
- 37:07Speaker 1: nice addition to the story.
- 37:11Speaker 3: And I just do think I've been seeing a lot
- 37:14Speaker 3: of response online, and I do question the state of
- 37:18Speaker 3: film literacy and looking at context clues.
- 37:24Speaker 1: There's a lot of.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Moments in this movie where I understand if you weren't
- 37:29Speaker 3: watching it. And I sent kinda a couple tiktoks that
- 37:32Speaker 3: I saw where I questioned if people actually watch the
- 37:34Speaker 3: film and she said, the reason why people are missing
- 37:37Speaker 3: things is because they're on their phones while watching these movies.
- 37:40Speaker 3: This movie, you absolutely should put away your cell phone.
- 37:43Speaker 3: I feel so grossed out that I have to say that,
- 37:47Speaker 3: but this is absolutely a movie where if you don't
- 37:50Speaker 3: see something on the screen for one second, you're not
- 37:52Speaker 3: going to understand something later on. Yeah, there's this one
- 37:56Speaker 3: moment where, now that Sarah has been and propped up
- 38:01Speaker 3: in Bear's living room for him to see her nikki
- 38:06Speaker 3: scroll scrolls Sarah's tattoos all over her body, cuts off
- 38:10Speaker 3: her hair and puts it on her own in order
- 38:14Speaker 3: for Bear to think that she's also pretty, because she
- 38:17Speaker 3: presumes that Bear like Sarah. Yeah, I did see a
- 38:20Speaker 3: lot of people be like, well, why did she do that?
- 38:23Speaker 2: Guys, did you.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Watch the movie?
- 38:25Speaker 3: There were a couple where I was like, oh my god,
- 38:27Speaker 3: like we legitimately, it has to be illegal to go
- 38:31Speaker 3: on your phone in the movie theater because I'm getting
- 38:34Speaker 3: really concerned with the lack of like.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Focus. I don't know, this movie's so good.
- 38:41Speaker 3: It really did deserve its flowers, and you should absolutely
- 38:44Speaker 3: give your full attention to it because it is worth
- 38:47Speaker 3: seeing every little thing. There's so many moments where even
- 38:51Speaker 3: if it's a little dark on screen, if you squint
- 38:54Speaker 3: and focus enough, you're gonna realize why that made it
- 38:57Speaker 3: into the final cut.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:00Speaker 1: I think that like with any movie, but especially like
- 39:03Speaker 1: this movie. From what I noticed watching is that like Curry,
- 39:07Speaker 1: Barker and everybody who worked on this film put so
- 39:11Speaker 1: much of their own like art into it. Like the
- 39:15Speaker 1: entire film is just beautiful start to finish. There's thought
- 39:18Speaker 1: put into every single piece of it. And I think
- 39:21Speaker 1: that we're so lucky that we had the chance to discuss,
- 39:27Speaker 1: or you had the chance to discuss.
- 39:28Speaker 3: I had the chance to discuss. I had the ability
- 39:31Speaker 3: to ask someone to come on the podcast. I think
- 39:34Speaker 3: that's the bigger, the bigger, and I felt very honored
- 39:39Speaker 3: that Kate, a friend of mine that I went way
- 39:42Speaker 3: back with, decided to come onto the podcast and talk
- 39:46Speaker 3: to us our favorite scene in the film, Our favorite Yes,
- 39:53Speaker 3: a very notable scene in this film that I.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Totally didn't watch through my fingers.
- 39:59Speaker 3: No, I was knew it was gonna happen, but then
- 40:01Speaker 3: I did cower behind my hands. It is very notable.
- 40:05Speaker 3: It takes place in a car, so if you watch
- 40:08Speaker 3: the movie you'll understand what we're talking about. To listeners,
- 40:12Speaker 3: I don't know if everyone knows this. They had to
- 40:15Speaker 3: take out a couple smashing shots to make sure that
- 40:20Speaker 3: the movie wasn't categorized as NC seventeen. Yeah, which now
- 40:25Speaker 3: I'm christioning. How is that, I thought to be to
- 40:30Speaker 3: watch a rated R movie, you have to be eighteen?
- 40:32Speaker 3: Or is that to make sure you have an adult
- 40:35Speaker 3: you have to someone has to be over eighteen? Oh okay,
- 40:39Speaker 3: I was like, well, what's the difference? But anyway, listen
- 40:42Speaker 3: to me and Kate talk about one of the best
- 40:46Speaker 3: scenes in the movie and how she helped light it.
- 40:48Speaker 3: She was a lighting technician on set for this film
- 40:52Speaker 3: and they did an amazing job. That is one of
- 40:54Speaker 3: the scariest scenes.
- 40:56Speaker 2: You can talk about that now if you won Oh my.
- 40:59Speaker 3: God, wait, I'll talk about it in three two one.
- 41:07Speaker 3: Thanks everyone for sticking around. For the end of the episode,
- 41:10Speaker 3: I have a very special guest with me. If you
- 41:13Speaker 3: want to introduce yourself.
- 41:15Speaker 4: Hi, my name is Caitlin. And why do I have.
- 41:19Speaker 1: You on today?
- 41:19Speaker 2: Kate?
- 41:20Speaker 1: What did we do for the film? All?
- 41:22Speaker 5: Right? So I was a set lighting technician in more
- 41:26Speaker 5: Layman's terms, I guess I was an electrician on the
- 41:29Speaker 5: film Obsession.
- 41:31Speaker 3: Amazing, amazing.
- 41:32Speaker 1: So what did you go to school for? Did you
- 41:35Speaker 1: go to school? Am I being arrogant.
- 41:38Speaker 4: Into Yeah, Yeah, I went to school.
- 41:40Speaker 5: I actually I really didn't want to go to school,
- 41:43Speaker 5: but I was studying to go to school to be
- 41:47Speaker 5: in the medical field. In high school, I was in
- 41:50Speaker 5: a biomedical program and I had been doing that. I
- 41:53Speaker 5: had my sight set on that, and I thought that
- 41:55Speaker 5: was kind of like the successful route that I kind
- 41:58Speaker 5: of needed to take. And then last minute, like junior year,
- 42:02Speaker 5: right before I started sending out college applications, I decided
- 42:06Speaker 5: that filmmaking was my passion always has been, and so
- 42:11Speaker 5: I ended up going to film school. I only applied
- 42:15Speaker 5: to one school. It was called Columbia College, Hollywood as
- 42:19Speaker 5: you bought it out and it is now The building
- 42:23Speaker 5: itself is now storage units which is really a shame
- 42:27Speaker 5: because it was the first Panavision building that was ever
- 42:30Speaker 5: built in Los Angeles.
- 42:33Speaker 4: So yeah, it was like a film school.
- 42:35Speaker 5: It was like a trade kind of type of school,
- 42:38Speaker 5: five hundred kids, and you had to kind of your
- 42:41Speaker 5: major was kind of like the area of production that
- 42:44Speaker 5: you wanted to go into. So I started out in
- 42:48Speaker 5: directing and then halfway through my education I switched into cinematography.
- 42:53Speaker 3: So beautiful, Beautiful. This is a very intricately lit movie.
- 42:56Speaker 3: It relies a lot on the atmosphere. There's a lot
- 43:00Speaker 3: of moments where it's the lighting is what really makes
- 43:02Speaker 3: the shot. How much thought goes into a shot where
- 43:06Speaker 3: it's like, I know in this film, Nikki is lit
- 43:09Speaker 3: differently in some aspects. She tends to be dark in
- 43:12Speaker 3: the face, almost covering her face. Like, how difficult was
- 43:16Speaker 3: it to produce shots like that?
- 43:18Speaker 5: Yeah, So the days that I was on it, like
- 43:22Speaker 5: I was on kind of the biggest jump scare scene
- 43:26Speaker 5: in the film, and so we were working a majority
- 43:30Speaker 5: of the car stuff was shot with an LED wall
- 43:33Speaker 5: behind it. So in a lot of the scenes where
- 43:36Speaker 5: it looks like they're driving, they're really not driving. And
- 43:39Speaker 5: scenes like that specifically are really difficult to light. I
- 43:42Speaker 5: think a lot of people, you know, don't really understand
- 43:45Speaker 5: everything that goes into it.
- 43:47Speaker 1: It.
- 43:47Speaker 5: You know, it might look like the dark scenes just
- 43:49Speaker 5: have one lighting unit, but in reality there's a bunch
- 43:53Speaker 5: of you know, not only lighting, but grip works so
- 43:57Speaker 5: like a set lighting technician, they set up the lights
- 44:01Speaker 5: and you know, angle them and everything, and then a
- 44:04Speaker 5: grip's job. These are both in the lighting department as
- 44:06Speaker 5: a whole. A grip kind of shapes the light, colors
- 44:09Speaker 5: the light, all of that. So you know, you work
- 44:13Speaker 5: together and there's a lot that goes into it. So
- 44:16Speaker 5: on the darker shots, you know, a lot of people
- 44:18Speaker 5: might be like, oh, it looks like there's maybe one
- 44:20Speaker 5: light if anything, but in reality, there was a lot
- 44:23Speaker 5: that goes in it to get the exposure of the
- 44:26Speaker 5: shot correct alone, because if you have no lights, it's
- 44:30Speaker 5: gonna be you know, really grainy, the camera can't reach anything.
- 44:34Speaker 5: But the car scenes that I was kind of working
- 44:37Speaker 5: on for the most of the film, those are are
- 44:41Speaker 5: pretty difficult to shoot because obviously when you're driving, you're
- 44:46Speaker 5: going through a lot of different different types of lighting. Right,
- 44:49Speaker 5: you have like your street lights and then you have
- 44:52Speaker 5: your lights kind of coming from houses, other cars and
- 44:54Speaker 5: all of that. So car scenes are really fun to
- 44:58Speaker 5: shoot because there's a lot of behind the scenes action.
- 45:02Speaker 5: Usually you'll have you know, a grip or somebody on
- 45:05Speaker 5: the car itself, like pushing the car up and down
- 45:08Speaker 5: so it looks like it's driving and go aholder bumps.
- 45:12Speaker 5: You'll have somebody you know, on a very tungsten colored
- 45:16Speaker 5: lighting unit kind of panning the light past the car
- 45:19Speaker 5: over and over again so it looks like the street
- 45:21Speaker 5: lights are going past. So there's a lot that goes
- 45:25Speaker 5: into just car scenes alone, and a lot that goes
- 45:28Speaker 5: into you know, scenes where it might not look like
- 45:32Speaker 5: there's very much going on in terms of lighting.
- 45:35Speaker 3: So you're saying, car scene, Is this the car scene
- 45:37Speaker 3: that I'm thinking of?
- 45:39Speaker 4: Really?
- 45:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of feeling I feel like that's very
- 45:43Speaker 3: your vibe. That was terrifying seeing that in theaters. I
- 45:47Speaker 3: think I did yelp a little, like it wasn't a scream,
- 45:50Speaker 3: it was like a cry for help.
- 45:52Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that was beautiful.
- 45:54Speaker 1: I know.
- 45:55Speaker 5: I was kind of not like disappointed. I mean, the
- 45:57Speaker 5: whole film was great. It was my first time seeing
- 45:59Speaker 5: it all together was in theaters, but obviously knowing kind
- 46:04Speaker 5: of you know, what to expect in that scene alone,
- 46:08Speaker 5: I was just kind of like, ah, but it was
- 46:10Speaker 5: just incredible to see how it all you know, got
- 46:13Speaker 5: cut together and all of that, because obviously, you know,
- 46:16Speaker 5: when we're on set, we're watching it through a tiny
- 46:19Speaker 5: little monitor and we're not seeing it sequentially how it's
- 46:23Speaker 5: supposed to go. So it was still surprising and that
- 46:27Speaker 5: was a really cool part of the film to be
- 46:29Speaker 5: a part of.
- 46:30Speaker 3: So, so all of that was produced in camera and
- 46:33Speaker 3: nothing was like CGI. Did you notice a difference in
- 46:37Speaker 3: the final cut where you were like, oh, we didn't
- 46:38Speaker 3: really shoot it that way.
- 46:40Speaker 5: No, So what I love about indie films, and you know,
- 46:44Speaker 5: because this was I think made for less than a
- 46:49Speaker 5: mill I know that, but it was like, you kind
- 46:53Speaker 5: of have to get creative, and it's a lot of
- 46:55Speaker 5: the times it's more expensive to do things you know,
- 46:58Speaker 5: CGI and and special effects and everything, but doing it
- 47:03Speaker 5: it was all in camera, all of it. Wow, And
- 47:06Speaker 5: so it was really really cool. Everybody kind of had
- 47:10Speaker 5: to get creative. And honestly, you know, looking at it
- 47:14Speaker 5: in theaters, I was like, oh my gosh, I have like,
- 47:17Speaker 5: you know, behind the scenes footage that looks just like that,
- 47:21Speaker 5: and so that was really cool.
- 47:23Speaker 4: Yeah, everything in the film was done in camera.
- 47:26Speaker 5: We had a crazy and incredible special effects and makeup
- 47:31Speaker 5: team that you know, helped put all of that together.
- 47:36Speaker 3: So especially working on that scene you're mentioning special effects,
- 47:40Speaker 3: this is an incredibly graphic scene. Were you ever actually
- 47:46Speaker 3: like scared on set? I feel like I couldn't even
- 47:48Speaker 3: approach a film set like that where I would know
- 47:52Speaker 3: spoiler alert, like a girl gets her face like completely
- 47:55Speaker 3: bashed off, Like was not darring to see it like
- 47:58Speaker 3: in person happening.
- 48:01Speaker 5: Honestly, it wasn't as scary, I guess in person, because
- 48:07Speaker 5: you know, the sound design alone on this film was incredible,
- 48:11Speaker 5: and when you're in person, obviously it's quiet on set,
- 48:15Speaker 5: so nobody's really talking, and you know, working behind the scenes,
- 48:20Speaker 5: it's obviously a lot brighter in the room than it
- 48:23Speaker 5: is on camera, and you know you see kind.
- 48:28Speaker 4: Of everybody just hanging out, you know.
- 48:30Speaker 5: I think like during that scene, I was honestly probably
- 48:33Speaker 5: like sitting in the back eating doritos, like, you know,
- 48:36Speaker 5: just kind of watching it on the monitor because you know,
- 48:39Speaker 5: it's just another day really.
- 48:42Speaker 4: But it was definitely really fun to kind of watch.
- 48:45Speaker 5: And at the end, you know, when the director yelled cut,
- 48:48Speaker 5: everybody was like whoa, Like that was so cool, Like
- 48:52Speaker 5: it worked perfectly, and they actually they had to cut
- 48:56Speaker 5: it down like a couple of bash I guess, in
- 49:02Speaker 5: order to get the rating that they got.
- 49:04Speaker 4: So in reality, it went on for a.
- 49:07Speaker 5: Really long time, and I think, you know a lot
- 49:10Speaker 5: of us were kind of trying to hold in our
- 49:12Speaker 5: laughter because we're like, it's you know, you hear the
- 49:15Speaker 5: car horn wasn't honking, and like, you know, it was
- 49:18Speaker 5: a dummy obviously, so everyone was just kind of like ooh,
- 49:22Speaker 5: but you know, it was good vibes all around, I
- 49:25Speaker 5: would say on this set, and yeah, to watch.
- 49:29Speaker 3: And you're mentioning laughter. I feel like that was something
- 49:32Speaker 3: I really didn't expect from seeing this movie, kind of
- 49:35Speaker 3: unrelated to the lighting and I know what you did,
- 49:37Speaker 3: but there were multiple times where I know, me and
- 49:40Speaker 3: the audience were giggling. And it wasn't because of why
- 49:43Speaker 3: the movie was producer like how it was, but it
- 49:45Speaker 3: was the manner of which we were being like shown.
- 49:49Speaker 3: I think I did like laugh quietly because I was
- 49:52Speaker 3: petrified watching this scene. But it is a little bit
- 49:57Speaker 3: more relieving to know that none of the set, like
- 50:00Speaker 3: the crew, was also going through like the mental effects
- 50:04Speaker 3: I was going through watching this, watching a girl lose
- 50:07Speaker 3: her face. That was absolutely crazy. But I know the
- 50:11Speaker 3: actress Indy who plays Nicky, she said they only had
- 50:15Speaker 3: a few takes for that, just to make sure that
- 50:17Speaker 3: I'm assuming the car wasn't fucked up or the blood everywhere.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Did you also feel like this intense I don't know,
- 50:26Speaker 3: like anxiety to make sure that the lighting was mailed
- 50:29Speaker 3: the first time?
- 50:31Speaker 4: Yeah, we do.
- 50:33Speaker 5: You know, when lighting seems like this, especially where you
- 50:36Speaker 5: do only get you know, one to three takes, obviously,
- 50:40Speaker 5: the pressure is really high to make sure everything looks good.
- 50:44Speaker 5: So what we'll usually do is, you know, you'll have
- 50:46Speaker 5: somebody stand in, and usually whoever's standing in, you know,
- 50:50Speaker 5: I tended to be a stand in quite a lot
- 50:53Speaker 5: because you know, I feel like I'm an average height
- 50:56Speaker 5: and I was usually the only girl in the lighting team,
- 50:59Speaker 5: So whenever there was a girl in the scene, I
- 51:01Speaker 5: would usually stand in and essentially you just like sit there,
- 51:05Speaker 5: you know, cameras where it needs to be, and you know,
- 51:08Speaker 5: you kind of slowly walk through all of the movements
- 51:10Speaker 5: to make sure the lighting looks perfect. But yeah, I
- 51:13Speaker 5: mean stuff like that is the tension on set is.
- 51:18Speaker 4: Usually really high.
- 51:19Speaker 5: I directed a short film a little while ago, and
- 51:23Speaker 5: we had a scene where one of the character's heads
- 51:27Speaker 5: gets like ripped off of their body.
- 51:30Speaker 4: So that was my first time working with.
- 51:32Speaker 5: You know, special effects, and I was really nervous. Everyone
- 51:37Speaker 5: was really nervous. And you know, we had two dummies
- 51:40Speaker 5: I believe for it, and so we had to like
- 51:43Speaker 5: tries essentially, and the first one was an epic fail,
- 51:49Speaker 5: and then you know, everyone was like do we even
- 51:51Speaker 5: want to try the next take? Like is this gonna work?
- 51:54Speaker 5: Is our whole film gonna fall apart? And then the
- 51:57Speaker 5: next take ended up being like you it was crazy.
- 52:01Speaker 5: You would have thought it was like visual effects, but
- 52:03Speaker 5: it was all in camera. And when things like that
- 52:06Speaker 5: happen kind of it's a huge.
- 52:08Speaker 4: Relief on everybody. And yeah, but in terms of like
- 52:12Speaker 4: the lighting and making sure that the lighting is.
- 52:14Speaker 5: Correct, there's a lot of you know, kind of time
- 52:19Speaker 5: before the actual you know, talent flies in and all
- 52:23Speaker 5: of that, where you're you're nitpicking everything and making sure
- 52:28Speaker 5: that everything is perfect so that when you know, the
- 52:31Speaker 5: actors get there, all they do is, you know, they
- 52:35Speaker 5: do a run through maybe once or twice, and then
- 52:38Speaker 5: camera's role in its go time, and at that point
- 52:41Speaker 5: all you can kind of do is like cross your
- 52:42Speaker 5: fingers and hope for the best.
- 52:45Speaker 3: So what does a team look like this of this enormity,
- 52:49Speaker 3: Like I'm assuming obviously there's a lot of work that
- 52:52Speaker 3: goes into this, but how many of you were on
- 52:55Speaker 3: set working behind the scenes to do the lighting.
- 52:58Speaker 4: I believe it was though. There was Chris oh who
- 53:04Speaker 4: is our gaffer.
- 53:05Speaker 5: He's a really great friend of mine, and then there
- 53:09Speaker 5: was Bisher who was the board hop. And then you know,
- 53:14Speaker 5: you have your key grip and your gaffer, and then
- 53:17Speaker 5: under your key grip and gaffer you usually have about
- 53:20Speaker 5: three to four grips and then three to four set
- 53:23Speaker 5: lighting technicians or like electricians. And I mean that's like
- 53:28Speaker 5: if you're lucky. I think a lot of people, you know,
- 53:31Speaker 5: who are kind of new to the filmmaking world and
- 53:34Speaker 5: maybe making a film, they underestimate how much manpower is
- 53:37Speaker 5: actually needed behind.
- 53:39Speaker 4: A lot of the lighting department.
- 53:41Speaker 5: But you know, fortunately Crey Barker has been making stuff
- 53:44Speaker 5: for a while, and so we had a really solid
- 53:48Speaker 5: lighting team, and yeah, there's you know, there's a lot
- 53:51Speaker 5: of people in the credits under set lighting technician and grips.
- 53:55Speaker 5: But that's because you know, you're shooting over a prolonged
- 53:58Speaker 5: period of time. Not everyone's going to be available for
- 54:00Speaker 5: every day, you know. So me, for example, I was
- 54:03Speaker 5: on it for I think maybe three to four days
- 54:07Speaker 5: of the whole thing.
- 54:09Speaker 4: And yeah, so you know a lot of people go
- 54:12Speaker 4: into it.
- 54:13Speaker 5: But in terms of other departments, you know, you have
- 54:15Speaker 5: so many different areas of expertise, and I think the
- 54:20Speaker 5: crew was maybe around twenty five to thirty if I'm correct,
- 54:25Speaker 5: like per day. You know, you always kind of had
- 54:27Speaker 5: you have like your key departments who are there every
- 54:29Speaker 5: single day, and then you kind of have you know,
- 54:32Speaker 5: the people who are like day players and they'll come
- 54:35Speaker 5: on for a couple of days and then you know
- 54:38Speaker 5: kind of less not less instrumental. Everyone's instrumental to a film,
- 54:42Speaker 5: I guess, but you know, people who are in charge
- 54:44Speaker 5: of like the whole entire kind of story of the
- 54:49Speaker 5: film and and very instrumental in that aspect are there
- 54:52Speaker 5: every day. But yeah, I mean big crew, uh, and
- 54:56Speaker 5: it you know, it depends on the kind of caliber
- 54:58Speaker 5: of what kind of film you're on. I've been on
- 55:00Speaker 5: sets that have maybe ten people. I've been on sets
- 55:03Speaker 5: to have maybe, you know, forty to fifty people, So
- 55:09Speaker 5: it takes an army.
- 55:11Speaker 3: Yeah, so definitely, but it does pay off. I mean, yeah,
- 55:15Speaker 3: that the work, especially for this film. I was incredibly
- 55:18Speaker 3: impressed with what I was seeing. I knew that the
- 55:22Speaker 3: the budget wasn't as high as other films that we've
- 55:24Speaker 3: seen this year, but incredibly impressed. And I loved knowing
- 55:28Speaker 3: that you did the car scene. That's really crazy. I'm
- 55:30Speaker 3: going to like boast about it to.
- 55:32Speaker 5: Hanno when I said later, I'm going to send you
- 55:34Speaker 5: behind her and stuff, so you see, because we're allowed
- 55:36Speaker 5: to release it now.
- 55:37Speaker 3: So oh so cute, so cute, amazing, Yeah, awesome. So
- 55:42Speaker 3: what's next for you? Are you on any other films
- 55:45Speaker 3: or are we taking break?
- 55:47Speaker 4: What's up? Yeah?
- 55:48Speaker 5: So in the past year, I've actually kind of transitioned
- 55:52Speaker 5: out of filmmaking. So this was made in twenty twenty
- 55:56Speaker 5: four and it was one of the last kind of
- 55:58Speaker 5: bigger projects that I worked on. You know, my film
- 56:02Speaker 5: career was incredible. I did more than I ever set
- 56:05Speaker 5: out to. But it's it's a tough industry, and especially
- 56:09Speaker 5: with you know, everything coming up, like a lot of
- 56:12Speaker 5: kudos to the people who are you know, pushing through
- 56:14Speaker 5: because with you know, the rise of AI and and
- 56:18Speaker 5: all that, it's a difficult industry to pursue. But I mean,
- 56:23Speaker 5: you know, it's an incredible industry and you do a
- 56:26Speaker 5: lot of really cool stuff and I don't think that
- 56:29Speaker 5: you know, AI is ever going to replace what what
- 56:31Speaker 5: people and a crew can do ever. So yeah, because
- 56:37Speaker 5: filmmaking is you know, freelance, it's a pretty tough industry
- 56:42Speaker 5: because you never know kind of when your next job
- 56:45Speaker 5: is and there's a lot of uncertainty. And I'm the
- 56:48Speaker 5: type of person where I need routine and stability. So
- 56:54Speaker 5: I transition from filmmaking into marketing. So now I do
- 56:57Speaker 5: more you know, graphic design stuff and all of that.
- 57:01Speaker 5: But I do have a screenplay kind of always in
- 57:06Speaker 5: the back of my mind.
- 57:07Speaker 4: I started writing it. I have two episodes down. It's
- 57:10Speaker 4: gonna be a television series, and I'll be chipping away
- 57:14Speaker 4: at it.
- 57:15Speaker 5: I think that you know, as much as I, as
- 57:19Speaker 5: much as I wanted to find something that you know,
- 57:22Speaker 5: is still creatively fulfilling in a nine to five.
- 57:26Speaker 4: There are some projects that I've had in my mind for.
- 57:29Speaker 5: A while that I don't think that I'll be able
- 57:31Speaker 5: to go to rest without ever making.
- 57:34Speaker 4: So yeah, who knows. I guess it's kind of open
- 57:38Speaker 4: ended right now.
- 57:39Speaker 3: That's great. Thank you so much for meeting with us today.
- 57:43Speaker 3: That was really kind that you gone on camera with us.
- 57:46Speaker 3: I really thank you.

- 57:59Speaker 2: to Kate.
