- 0:42email at Steven Lifespring media.com. Let's get started.
- 0:48Second Chronicles chapter 21. Then Jehoshaphat died and was
- 0:53buried with his ancestors in the city of David. Then his son
- 0:56Jehoram became the next king Jehoram his brothers were as
- 1:00Araya Jihyo Zechariah as Araya, Michael and shefa. Taya. They
- 1:06were the sons of King Jehoshaphat of Judah.
- 1:09Jehoshaphat gave his sons many gifts of silver, gold and
- 1:12precious things. He also gave them strong fortresses in Judah.
- 1:17But Jehoshaphat gave the kingdom to Jehoram because he was the
- 1:21oldest son Jehoram took over his father's kingdom and made
- 1:25himself strong. Then he used a sword to kill all his brothers.
- 1:29He also killed some of the leaders of Israel. Jehoram was
- 1:3332 years old when he began to rule. He ruled eight years in
- 1:37Jerusalem. He lived the same way the kings of Israel left, he
- 1:41lived the same way Ahab's family lived. This was because Jehoram
- 1:45married Ahab's daughter, and Jehoram did evil in the Lord's
- 1:49sight. But the Lord would not destroy David's family because
- 1:52of the agreement he made with David. He had promised to keep a
- 1:56lamp burning for David and his children forever. In Jehoram
- 2:00time, Edom broke away from other Judas authority. The people of
- 2:04Edom chose their own king. So Jehoram went to Edom with all
- 2:08his commanders and chariots, the Edomites army surrounded Jehoram
- 2:12and his chariot commanders, but Jehoram fought his way out at
- 2:15night. Since that time, and until now the country of Edom
- 2:19has been rebellious against Judah. The people from the town
- 2:22of Libnah, also turned against Jehoram. This happened because
- 2:26Jehoram left the Lord God. He is the God Jehoram 's ancestors
- 2:30followed. Jehoram also built high places on the hills in
- 2:34Judah, he caused the people of Jerusalem to start worshipping
- 2:38other gods, he led the people of Judah away from their God.
- 2:43Jehoram received this message from Elijah the prophet. This is
- 2:46what the Lord the God your Father, David followed, says,
- 2:50Jehoram you have not lived the way your father Jehoshaphat
- 2:54lived. You have not lived the way King ASA of Judah lived, but
- 2:58you have lived the way the kings of Israel lived. You have caused
- 3:01the people of Judah and Jerusalem to stop doing what God
- 3:04wants. This is what Ahab and his family did. They were unfaithful
- 3:09to God. You have killed your brothers and they were better
- 3:12than you. So now the Lord will soon punish your people with
- 3:16terrible suffering. He will punish your children, your wives
- 3:19and all your property. You will have a painful sickness in your
- 3:23intestines that will get worse and worse. Your intestines will
- 3:26finally come out and the Lord caused the Philistines and the
- 3:30Arabs living near the Ethiopians to be angry with Jehoram. They
- 3:34attacked Judah and carried away all the riches in the king's
- 3:37palace. They also took Jehoram sons and wives only Jehoram his
- 3:42youngest son, a Uzziah was left. After this happened, the Lord
- 3:47made Jehoram sick with a disease in his intestines that could not
- 3:50be cured. His intestines fell out two years later because of
- 3:54his sickness. He died in very bad pain, and the people did not
- 3:59make a large fire to honor Jehoram as they did for his
- 4:01father. Jehoram was 32 years old when he became king. He ruled
- 4:06eight years in Jerusalem. No one was sad when he died. And the
- 4:10people bury Jehoram in the city of David, but not in the graves
- 4:14where the kings are buried.
- 4:16Second Chronicles chapter 22. The people of Jerusalem chose a
- 4:21Messiah to be the new king in Jehoram xplace a Messiah was
- 4:25Jehoram, his youngest son, the people who came with the Arabs
- 4:28to attack Joe whoredoms camp killed all of your horns older
- 4:32sons. So as I began to rule in Judah, he was 22 years old when
- 4:37he began to rule. He ruled one year in Jerusalem. His mother's
- 4:41name was Atha Leia. Her father's name was Omri. A Uzziah also
- 4:47lived the way Ahab's family lived because his mother
- 4:50encouraged him to do wrong things. A Uzziah did evil in the
- 4:54Lord site. That is what Ahab's family did. Ahab's family gave
- 4:59advice to Aicha If after he his eyes father died, they gave a
- 5:03Uzziah bad advice that led to his death. He has I have
- 5:07followed the advice of Ahab's family and joined King Joram to
- 5:10fight against King hazy Oh from Aram. They fought near the town
- 5:14of Weymouth and Gilead. Joram, who was the son of King Ahab of
- 5:18Israel was wounded in the battle. He went back to the town
- 5:22of Jezebel to heal from the wounds he suffered at Rhema King
- 5:25a Messiah went there later to visit him. God caused his eyes
- 5:29death when he went to visit Joram. A Uzziah arrived and went
- 5:34out with Joram to meet G Hughes son of NIMH shy the Lord chose
- 5:38je who to destroy Ahab's family. G he was punishing Ahab's
- 5:42family. He found the leaders of Judah a day his eyes relatives
- 5:46who served a messiah. He killed the leaders of Judah and his
- 5:50eyes relative. Then g who looked for a messiah. G Hughes men
- 5:54caught him when he tried to hide in the town of Samaria. They
- 5:58brought him to G hue, they killed a Uzziah and buried him.
- 6:02They said, a messiah is the descendant of Jehoshaphat
- 6:06Jehoshaphat followed the Lord with all his heart. His eyes
- 6:09family had no power to hold the kingdom of Judah together. Hatha
- 6:13Leia was a as eyes mother. When she saw that her son was dead.
- 6:17She killed all the king's children in Judah, but Yehoshua
- 6:21took a his eyes son Joash and hit him geohash abba put Joash
- 6:26and his nurse in the inside bedroom. Joshua was king Jehoram
- 6:28his daughter, she was also Jehovah and his wife, Jehovah
- 6:29was a priest and Yehoshua was a his eyes sister Atha Leia did
- 6:31not kill Joash because Jehovah hid him. Joash was hidden with
- 6:34the priests in God's temple for six years. During that time,
- 6:47Ethel Leia ruled over the land is queen.
- 6:50Second Chronicles chapter 23. In the seventh year, Jehovah made a
- 6:55bold move. He made a pact with the officers of the units of
- 6:58hundreds as Araya Sena Jehoram, Ishmael son of Ji Ho Hainan
- 7:03Azariah, son of Obed, may Asiya, son of a Daya and Alicia fat SON
- 7:09OF A cry. They traveled throughout Judah and assembled
- 7:13the Levites from all the cities of Judah, as well as the
- 7:16Israelite family members. They came to Jerusalem and the whole
- 7:19assembly made a covenant with a king in the temple of God.
- 7:23Jehovah has said to them, the king's son will rule just as the
- 7:27Lord promised David's descendants. This is what you
- 7:30must do. 1/3 of you priests and Levites, who are on duty during
- 7:35the Sabbath will guard the doors. Another third of you will
- 7:38be stationed at the Royal Palace and still another third at the
- 7:41foundation gate. All the others will stand in the courtyards of
- 7:45the Lord's temple. No one must enter the Lord's temple except
- 7:49the priests and Levites who are on duty. They may enter because
- 7:52they are ceremonially pure. All the others should carry out
- 7:57their assigned service to the Lord. The Levites must surround
- 8:01the king, each of you must hold his weapon in his hand. Whoever
- 8:05tries to enter the temple must be killed. You must accompany
- 8:08the king wherever he goes. The Levites and all the men of Judah
- 8:13did justice Jehoiada the priest ordered each of them took his
- 8:16men, those who are on duty during the Sabbath, and those
- 8:19who were off duty on the Sabbath Jehoiada the priest did not
- 8:23release his divisions from their duties. Jehoiada the priest gave
- 8:28to the officers of the units of hundreds King David's spears and
- 8:31shields that were kept in God's temple. He placed the men at
- 8:35their posts, each holding his weapon in his hand. They lined
- 8:39up from the south side of the temple to the north side in
- 8:42stood near the altar in the temple surrounding the king.
- 8:46Jehovah and his sons led out the king's son and placed on him the
- 8:50crown and the Royal insignia. They proclaimed him king and
- 8:54poured olive oil on his head. They declared Long live the
- 8:57king. When Atha Leia heard the Royal Guard shouting and
- 9:01praising the king she joined the crowd at the Lord's temple. Then
- 9:05she saw the king standing by his pillar at the entrance. The
- 9:09officers and the trumpeters stood beside the king and all
- 9:12the people of the land were celebrating and blowing
- 9:14trumpets, and the musicians with various instruments were leading
- 9:17the celebration. After Leia tore her clothes and yelled treason
- 9:22treason. Jehoiada the priest sent out the officers of the
- 9:26units of hundreds who were in charge of the army and ordered
- 9:28them to bring her outside the temple to the guards put the
- 9:32sword to anyone who follows her. The priest gave this order
- 9:35because he had decided she should not be executed in the
- 9:39Lord's temple. They seized her and took her into the precincts
- 9:42of the royal palace through the horse's entrance. There they
- 9:46executed her. Jehovah then drew up a covenant stipulating that
- 9:50he all the people, and the king should be loyal to the Lord. All
- 9:55the people went and demolished the temple of Baal. They smashed
- 9:59its altar As an idol, they killed Matt and the priest of
- 10:02bail in front of the altars. Jehovah then assigned the duties
- 10:06of the Lord's temple to the priests, the Levites, whom David
- 10:09had assigned to the Lord's temple. They were responsible
- 10:12for offering burnt sacrifices to the Lord with joy in music.
- 10:16According to the law of Moses and the Edict of David. He
- 10:20posted guards at the gates of the Lord's temple, so no one who
- 10:23was ceremonially unclean in any way could enter. He summoned the
- 10:28officers of the units of hundreds, the nobles, the rulers
- 10:31of the people, and all the people of land, and he then led
- 10:34the king down from the Lord's temple. They entered the royal
- 10:38palace through the upper gate and seated the king on the royal
- 10:41throne. All the people of the land celebrated for the city had
- 10:46rest now that they had killed Atha Leia,
- 10:49Second Chronicles chapter 24. Joash was seven years old when
- 10:54he became king, and he reigned 40 years in Jerusalem. His
- 10:58mother's name was xebia of Beersheba. Joash did what was
- 11:03right in the sight of the Lord all the days of Jehoiada, the
- 11:05priest, and Jehovah took two wives for him, and he had sons
- 11:10and daughters. Now what happened after this, that Joash set his
- 11:14heart on repairing the house of the Lord. Then he gathered the
- 11:17priests and the Levites, and said to them, go out to the
- 11:20cities of Judah and gather from all Israel money to repair the
- 11:24house of your god from year to year, and see that you do it
- 11:27quickly. However, the Levites did not do it quickly. So the
- 11:31king called Jehovah, the chief priest and said to him, Why have
- 11:35you not required the Levites to bring in from Judah and from
- 11:38Jerusalem, the collection according to the commandment of
- 11:41Moses, the servant of the Lord, and of the assembly of Israel,
- 11:44for the tabernacle of witness, for the sons of Atha, Leia, that
- 11:48wicked woman who had broken into the house of God, and had also
- 11:51presented all the dedicated things of the house of the Lord
- 11:54to the bales. Then at the king's command, they made a chest and
- 11:59set it outside the gate of the house of the Lord. And they made
- 12:03a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to bring to the
- 12:06Lord the collection that Moses the servant of God had imposed
- 12:09on Israel in the wilderness. Then all the leaders and all the
- 12:13people rejoiced, brought their contributions and put them into
- 12:17the chest until all had given. So it was at that time when the
- 12:22chest was brought to the kings official by the hand of the
- 12:24Levites. And when they saw that there was much money that the
- 12:28Kings scribe and the high priests officers came and empty
- 12:31the chest and took it and returned it to its place. Thus,
- 12:35they did day by day and gathered money in abundance. The King and
- 12:39Jehoiada gave it to those who did the work of the surface of
- 12:42the house of the Lord. And they hired masons and carpenters to
- 12:46repair the house of the Lord, and also those who worked in
- 12:49iron and bronze to restore the house of the Lord. So the
- 12:53workmen labored and the work was completed by them. They restored
- 12:57the house of God to its original condition and reinforced it.
- 13:01When they had finished, they brought the rest of the money
- 13:03before the king and Jehoiada. They made from it articles for
- 13:07the house of the Lord articles for serving and offering spoons
- 13:11and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings
- 13:14in the house of the Lord continually all the days of
- 13:17Jehoiada. But Jehovah grew old and was full of days that he
- 13:22died. He was 130 years old when he died. And they buried him in
- 13:27the city of David among the Kings, because he had done good
- 13:30in Israel, both toward God and his house. Now, after the death
- 13:35of Jehovah, the leaders of Judah came and bowed down to the king,
- 13:39and the king listen to them. Therefore, they left the house
- 13:42of the Lord God of their fathers and served wooden images and
- 13:45idols. And wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem because of their
- 13:48trespass. Yet he sent prophets to them to bring them back to
- 13:53the Lord, and they testified against them, but they would not
- 13:56listen. Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah, the son of
- 14:01Jehoiada, the priest who stood above the people and said to
- 14:03them, Thus says God, why do you transgress the commandments of
- 14:08the Lord so that you cannot prosper? Because you have
- 14:11forsaken the LORD, He has forsaken you. So they conspired
- 14:15against him. And at the command of the king, they stone him with
- 14:18stones in the court of the house of the Lord. Thus Joash the king
- 14:22did not remember the kindness which Jehovah his father had
- 14:25done to him, but killed his son. And as he died, he said, The
- 14:29Lord look on it and repay. So what happened in the spring of
- 14:34the year that the army of Syria came up against him, and they
- 14:37came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the leaders of the
- 14:41people from among the people, and sent all their spoil to the
- 14:44king of Damascus, for the army of the Syrians came with a small
- 14:48company of men, but the Lord delivered a very great army into
- 14:52their hand because they had forsaken the LORD God of their
- 14:55fathers. So they executed judgment against Joash. And when
- 15:00And they had withdrawn from him, but they left him severely
- 15:02wounded. His own servants conspired against him because of
- 15:06the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest and killed
- 15:09him on his bed. So he died. And they buried him in the city of
- 15:13David, but they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings. These
- 15:18are the ones who conspired against him, the Zevia, the son
- 15:21of shimmy, F, V, M, and itis. And Joe has a bad the son of
- 15:25shimmer if the MO abiertas. Now concerning his sons in the mini
- 15:29Oracle's about him, and the repairing of the house of God,
- 15:32indeed, they are written in the annals of the books of the
- 15:35kings, then Amaziah, his son reigned in his place.
- 15:42Well, in today's chapters, we read about Joash, and how he was
- 15:45saved from the evil queen AF Elia, who killed every child of
- 15:49King Ahaziah, who was killed by Jehu. Every child but one.
- 15:54Jehosheba was the sister of King Ahaziah, and when she heard that
- 15:58Athaliah wanted to kill all of his children, she hid
- 16:01one-year-old Joash with the priests in the Temple for six
- 16:05years. Well, that's quite a story in itself. But this next
- 16:08part is what I find most interesting. And this point,
- 16:12Joash is the only living descendant of King David.
- 16:16Remember, God's promised to David, that there would always
- 16:18be one of his descendants on the throne? Well, God made sure that
- 16:22Joash was not killed. And then, of course, many generations
- 16:26later, Jesus came from the line of David. Well, it would be nice
- 16:30if we could say that Joe ash grew to be a good and godly
- 16:33king, but that didn't happen. Yes, he did right before the
- 16:36Lord while Jehoiada the priest was alive. But once Jehovah had
- 16:40died, Joash took a left turn, he turned away from God, and he and
- 16:45the leaders and the people of Judah began to worship false
- 16:48gods. And then God allowed Judah to be defeated by the smaller
- 16:52army of the Arameans. And Joash, was wounded, and then his own
- 16:57servants killed him on his own bed. And when he was buried, it
- 17:00was not in the place where the other kings were buried.
- 17:03Wouldn't you say this was a very sad ending to a life that was
- 17:06miraculously spared by God. The apostle Paul said in Philippians
- 17:113:14, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God
- 17:15has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus, would the Joash
- 17:19had kept his eyes on God, coming from a believing family,
- 17:23beloved, is no guarantee. He was literally raised in the temple
- 17:27with a godly role model in Jehovah to the priest. Beloved,
- 17:31if you're a parent or a grandparent, or anybody with
- 17:34influence over children, it's eternally important that you
- 17:38impress upon the children how important it is to have a
- 17:41personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Don't take it for
- 17:45granted. I'd love to hear your thoughts, please go to
- 17:48Lifespring media.com/s 12 e 293. And leave a comment. Tomorrow
- 17:54being Wednesday we'll read from the Psalms, we'll read chapters
- 17:57122 through 124. Here's your cue to boost.
- 18:10We have an executive producer today, John sent in his $50
- 18:13monthly donation. Thank you, John. And God bless you. I
- 18:17appreciate your monthly support my brother. And yes, this is a
- 18:20genuine bonafide executive producer credit because
- 18:24producers are the people who help finance a media project,
- 18:27whether film, TV, music, podcast, or whatever. So this is
- 18:31the real deal.
- 18:32Your donations to the Lifespring family Audio Bible truly do make
- 18:36it possible for me to bring the show to you seven days a week.
- 18:39Of course, this is a value for value podcast, which means if
- 18:43you receive something of value from the show, if it adds to
- 18:46your life in some way, return some of that value in the form
- 18:50of time, talent or treasure in proportion to what you've
- 18:53received. It's an easy concept and one that truly is biblical.
- 18:57For example, Jesus said in Luke 10, seven, the worker is worthy
- 19:00of his wages. And there are many other scriptures that express
- 19:03this same thought. To donate go to Lifespring media.com/support

- 19:22Got a comment from Denise on yesterday's episode Deuteronomy
- 19:251-3: Moses On the Threshold. She said in Deuteronomy 1:37 and
- 19:313:26, Moses seems to blame the Israelites for the fact that God
- 19:36would not allow him to enter the promised land. But we just read
- 19:39a few episodes ago in numbers 20 That God prevented Moses from
- 19:43entering the promised land because of Moses disobedience at
- 19:46Meribah when he struck the rock instead of speaking to it. She
- 19:50says, Am I reading this right? Is Moses blaming others for
- 19:54something that was his own stupid fault? Yes, you know,
- 19:58Denise, I wonder to say anybody was going to comment on that.
- 20:01That's a good catch. Yes, I do think that there may be some of
- 20:05that in Moses attitude. But we have to keep in mind that Moses
- 20:09was a flawed person just like you and me. But I also think
- 20:12that maybe there's a bit of room for this interpretation. Moses
- 20:16might have been saying, You're complaining made me mad, which
- 20:19caused me to disobey God's command. I take responsibility
- 20:24for my disobedience. I should not have done that. But it was
- 20:27caused by your whining. Maybe that's what Moses was saying.
- 20:31But I picked up on that attitude as well. Thanks for your comment
- 20:35Denise.
- 20:47I have a first for on this date in church history we've never
- 20:50had one of these were two things happened on the exact same day
- 20:53on the exact same year, June 21 1821. The African Methodist
- 20:59Episcopal Zion Church was formally constituted in New York
- 21:03City on this day, with 19 clergyman present representing
- 21:06six African American churches from New York, Philadelphia, New
- 21:11Haven and Newark. And on this very same day, Henry W. Baker
- 21:16was born he was an English clergyman, musicologist and
- 21:19compiler of the hymnal called hymns, ancient and modern,
- 21:23regarded today as the unofficial Anglican Church hymnal. He also
- 21:28wrote a hymn based on Psalm 23, the king of love my Shepherd is,
- 21:33I can't help but think of Yoda when I read that title. I'm not
- 21:36going to do a Yoda voice. But think about it. The king of love
- 21:39my Shepherd is.
- 21:50Let's pray. Our Heavenly Father, we ask that you help us as we
- 21:53press on toward the goal. May Your Holy Spirit continue to
- 21:57encourage us and grow the fruit of the Spirit in us, make us
- 22:01like Jesus, Lord and draws ever closer to you. Father, I ask
- 22:05that you bless the Lifespring family today. I thank you for
- 22:09each one that's listening right now. And I pray that they feel
- 22:12your presence with them today. I pray this in Jesus name, amen.
- 22:17If you have a prayer request or a praise, go to prayer dot
- 22:20Lifespring media.com. Give me whatever details you want me to
