- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome into jags Am. Here.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It is day thirteen, lucky number thirteen practice of training
- 0:23Speaker 2: camp for the Jaguars. As it's beautiful day to be outside,
- 0:26Speaker 2: so we took jags Am outside once again as we
- 0:29Speaker 2: enjoy our third week and thirteenth day of practice. I'm
- 0:32Speaker 2: ka Nannie Stevens here with Brian Sexton and John Oser.
- 0:36Speaker 1: It's uppiced to be outside again. Enjoy the weather right.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Well, after so many days inside with all that rain,
- 0:41Speaker 3: it is nice to be outside.
- 0:43Speaker 4: It's got kind of that humid feel. It's just a
- 0:44Speaker 4: touch of it, but it's not bad. So let's go
- 0:46Speaker 4: watch the football.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Tis the season, Yes, football's right around the corner. We're
- 0:49Speaker 2: just a little over forty eight hours out from actually
- 0:51Speaker 2: seeing some preseason football and we're getting pretty excited for that.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Let's get into our big things today. We have our
- 0:57Speaker 2: first big things say, which is the depth chart that
- 0:59Speaker 2: came out earlier this week because we have our first
- 1:01Speaker 2: game of the season obviously on Saturday against the Chiefs.
- 1:05Speaker 2: And Ryan Nielson, defensive coordinator, said, yeah, we put out
- 1:08Speaker 2: a depth chart, but don't put a lot of stock
- 1:10Speaker 2: into it.
- 1:11Speaker 5: The depth chart is etched insand so it can change
- 1:16Speaker 5: really really on. It could be gamed game playing time.
- 1:20Speaker 5: I mean, it's we take this thing. We talked about this,
- 1:23Speaker 5: it's a one day at a time. Every single day counts,
- 1:25Speaker 5: every rep counts, doesn't matter who that rep is against.
- 1:29Speaker 5: We're evaluating that player for what he's done on that
- 1:31Speaker 5: particular rep on tape. That matters, you know, in every
- 1:35Speaker 5: aspect of the program.
- 1:38Speaker 2: So that depth chart is in sand Bryan, obviously we
- 1:41Speaker 2: know things are kind of fluids, specifically on the defensive
- 1:43Speaker 2: side of the ball. Was there anything that jumped out
- 1:45Speaker 2: to you on that depth chart? You think it's just
- 1:47Speaker 2: it is what it is.
- 1:47Speaker 6: Well, I think you know who the starters are going
- 1:49Speaker 6: to be, right.
- 1:51Speaker 3: But Ryan is consistent and he has said since he
- 1:54Speaker 3: got here that the depth chart means nothing to him.
- 1:56Speaker 3: He's about evaluating players in different positions, in different combinations
- 2:01Speaker 3: with other guys. He wants to give everybody a really
- 2:04Speaker 3: good look. So I smiled when he said it. He
- 2:07Speaker 3: because it's a great line, right. I can think of
- 2:09Speaker 3: a handful of great coaches quotes in thirty years with
- 2:12Speaker 3: this franchise, and that's on the list of top ten.
- 2:14Speaker 3: I mean, just because the wry smile that he had
- 2:17Speaker 3: when he delivered it perfectly. But no, I mean, you
- 2:21Speaker 3: know who the starters are going to be, and we're
- 2:22Speaker 3: talking about filling out the fifty three at this point,
- 2:25Speaker 3: and he's steadfast in his belief that there are some
- 2:28Speaker 3: talented guys on this roster that just need a good,
- 2:31Speaker 3: thorough evaluation. It's just another reason why I think he's
- 2:33Speaker 3: a terrific coach. Yeah, it's exactly what you should say
- 2:38Speaker 3: this time of year. I'm penciling Josh hinz Allen as
- 2:42Speaker 3: a start or not. I think might start so, but yes,
- 2:50Speaker 3: in the secondary linebackers, they want the defensive line, for example,
- 2:55Speaker 3: to be an eight person rotation. Well, go ahead and
- 2:58Speaker 3: keep telling them that it's that there's no depth chart.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Keep the ninth and tenth guy working hard, believing in it.
- 3:06Speaker 6: Why not? I mean, we get it. So it's fine
- 3:09Speaker 6: if he says that, fair enough.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Our second big thing today is BTJ Day Bryan Thomas Junior,
- 3:15Speaker 2: the rookie wide receiver drafted out of LSU. We've seen
- 3:18Speaker 2: some flashes from him. I think yesterday was probably his
- 3:21Speaker 2: best day of camp. Caught a couple good balls from
- 3:23Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence and he talked a little bit to the
- 3:25Speaker 2: media after practice about what it means to him to
- 3:27Speaker 2: be able to play different roles on this team.
- 3:30Speaker 7: Very real, just having him being able to play all
- 3:34Speaker 7: the three positions and out to play inside and just
- 3:37Speaker 7: do all they move, They move you around, try to
- 3:41Speaker 7: get the best look for you, get the best matchup
- 3:43Speaker 7: for you. So I would say it's very challenging, but
- 3:46Speaker 7: just coming out here and doing it each and every day,
- 3:48Speaker 7: you'll get better.
- 3:48Speaker 4: You get better.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Obviously he's gonna have some rookie moments kind of learning
- 3:54Speaker 2: as things go along. Christian Kirk in that wide receiver
- 3:56Speaker 2: room a great veteran presence for him. John What can
- 3:59Speaker 2: we expect out of Brian Thomas Junior right away? Obviously
- 4:02Speaker 2: we know he's a great deep threat, but he's learning
- 4:04Speaker 2: other aspects and we're seeing other aspects of his game.
- 4:06Speaker 6: Yeah, right away.
- 4:08Speaker 4: I don't know how much you'll see in the preseason
- 4:10Speaker 4: because that can be sort of catch his catch can
- 4:13Speaker 4: What I want to see early is maybe what we
- 4:16Speaker 4: can't see makes any sense his impact. I think coordinators
- 4:20Speaker 4: are going to know he's there. I think coordinators are
- 4:23Speaker 4: going to have to account for him in the red
- 4:24Speaker 4: zone and deep so I have no idea what his
- 4:27Speaker 4: stats will be this season, but I think he's a
- 4:30Speaker 4: legitimate part of a four person with Gabe Davis, Christian Kirk,
- 4:35Speaker 4: Evan Ingram, and Brian Thomas Jr. I think he matters
- 4:40Speaker 4: in that equation, so the defensive coordinators will have to
- 4:43Speaker 4: account for him. I think if that's true, over the
- 4:45Speaker 4: course of time this season, he will get his numbers
- 4:49Speaker 4: in the If you're asking exactly what you're looking for,
- 4:52Speaker 4: I think three or four times in the first nine
- 4:55Speaker 4: or ten games you want him to stretch the field
- 4:58Speaker 4: and make a play where, oh, well, now we flip
- 5:00Speaker 4: the field. Now this team's facing first and ten at
- 5:05Speaker 4: the forty instead of first and tent their own twenty.
- 5:07Speaker 4: If he makes that kind of impact, Brian, I think
- 5:09Speaker 4: the last half the season he can really come on
- 5:12Speaker 4: once he has chemistry at travel.
- 5:14Speaker 3: You're talking like the play he made over Ronald Darby
- 5:16Speaker 3: yesterday down the sideline where he snatched.
- 5:18Speaker 4: The ball once every few games to give you the
- 5:21Speaker 4: real yards. And when coordinators see that, they're gonna have
- 5:25Speaker 4: to account for it, which is going to make the
- 5:27Speaker 4: offense function in a way that I'm not sure if
- 5:29Speaker 4: functioned last year without two guys who can stretch it
- 5:32Speaker 4: in Davis and Thomas.
- 5:33Speaker 3: In that play, which was all over the internet yesterday,
- 5:35Speaker 3: you can see the measurables right the height, the speed,
- 5:39Speaker 3: and the length and just the freakish athletic ability to
- 5:43Speaker 3: be able to take a ball that you can't quite
- 5:45Speaker 3: control and control it and then keep running full speed.
- 5:47Speaker 6: He's got all that.
- 5:48Speaker 3: I've watched him really closely during camp in the way
- 5:50Speaker 3: that the Jaguars use him, and I have felt since
- 5:53Speaker 3: they drafted him that his speed and size it's going
- 5:56Speaker 3: to make a safety be on their heels as opposed
- 5:59Speaker 3: to running towards the line of scrimmage. And I think
- 6:03Speaker 3: in his impact, as John said, he's going to make
- 6:05Speaker 3: some plays, his impact is that he is going to
- 6:08Speaker 3: open things up in that box and give Trevor much
- 6:12Speaker 3: more to work with in terms of the running game
- 6:14Speaker 3: room for Evan Ingram Underneath, I think Brian Thomas is
- 6:18Speaker 3: a combination of all the things that you need to
- 6:21Speaker 3: have that downfield passing attack and benefit underneath.
- 6:24Speaker 6: And Brian, what you just talked about something fans might miss,
- 6:27Speaker 6: but it matters very much.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely, I think it's exciting to kind of see
- 6:30Speaker 2: the role he'll have and then as it becomes more
- 6:32Speaker 2: of an explosive plays or whatever it is, as the
- 6:34Speaker 2: season goes along, excited to see it myself, say able
- 6:36Speaker 2: us Here on jags Am. We are live at training camp.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Practice coming up are a little bit more of a
- 6:41Speaker 2: preview of game time. Jack's Am brought to you by
- 6:58Speaker 2: Field's Auto Group Jacksonville Premier Luxury Auto Group.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You can go to Fieldsauto dot com.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Try everything exactly the same to prepare the player for
- 7:08Speaker 5: Sunday to that Hey.
- 7:09Speaker 6: It's not different.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Hey, just trust your fundamentals and technique, understand the scheme,
- 7:14Speaker 5: and then play hard.
- 7:17Speaker 1: As simple as that.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Guy's got to keep your routine, keep everything the same.
- 7:20Speaker 2: We know football players like their routines, athletes of any sort.
- 7:24Speaker 2: So Ryan Neilson said he's trying to do that as
- 7:26Speaker 2: much practice the way you play and keep everything in
- 7:28Speaker 2: the same kind of timeline so that you know when
- 7:31Speaker 2: some of these younger players, these rookies get out in
- 7:33Speaker 2: their first game ever in the NFL, that they're not
- 7:36Speaker 2: kind of overwhelmed by.
- 7:37Speaker 3: That routine builds consistency, and it's consistency that separates good
- 7:42Speaker 3: from great, and you could just see the desire on
- 7:45Speaker 3: Ryan's part to get consistency from all of those young
- 7:48Speaker 3: players on the defensive side.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I think on Saturday you want to see those
- 7:52Speaker 4: guys play fast. I mean it's to me, I'm not
- 7:55Speaker 4: as concerned on Saturday with the defense. It gives up
- 7:58Speaker 4: a touchdown early. It is Patrick Mahomes. But you like
- 8:02Speaker 4: to see them playing the way they have during practice,
- 8:07Speaker 4: which is with an urgency and with a suddenness that
- 8:13Speaker 4: gives you the impression that they get the defense and
- 8:16Speaker 4: they know how it's functioning. So you'd like to see
- 8:18Speaker 4: some speed and confidence out of that unit, and I
- 8:20Speaker 4: think you will because you've seen it.
- 8:21Speaker 6: In practice so far.
- 8:22Speaker 3: And we haven't talked a lot about this, but to
- 8:24Speaker 3: talk to people around here, this defense is much it's
- 8:30Speaker 3: less complex. I don't want to say simple because that
- 8:32Speaker 3: makes it seem like it's too simple. But he has
- 8:35Speaker 3: made this something that these guys can adapt to very
- 8:38Speaker 3: quickly and as John said, be able to play fast
- 8:41Speaker 3: and simplifying this defense, you can just see it.
- 8:45Speaker 6: You can see how confident these guys are.
- 8:47Speaker 2: A lot has changed. We haven't seen them play a
- 8:49Speaker 2: football game six seven months. Obviously, the whole defensive side
- 8:52Speaker 2: of the Ball's new coaching staff, Trevon Walker, talked a
- 8:55Speaker 2: little bit about this last week, how his role is
- 8:57Speaker 2: going to change, and he's really excited about the new
- 8:59Speaker 2: role he's going to play.
- 9:01Speaker 6: I feel like it fits me great.
- 9:02Speaker 8: We're playing straight forward and I feel like with me
- 9:05Speaker 8: playing with my hand in the dirt, I feel a
- 9:06Speaker 8: lot more explosive and I feel like I can just
- 9:09Speaker 8: play ball now.
- 9:10Speaker 1: You can miss any part of dropping into coverage.
- 9:12Speaker 8: Oh I mean no, no, not at all. But I
- 9:15Speaker 8: mean the more you can do, the more the better.
- 9:17Speaker 8: So whatever my teams need.
- 9:21Speaker 2: John, I think it's obvious he's not gonna miss dropping
- 9:23Speaker 2: back into coverage very much.
- 9:24Speaker 1: But is this Is this a better suit for his talents?
- 9:26Speaker 1: You think?
- 9:26Speaker 4: Yeah, it remains to be seen. We haven't seen everything
- 9:29Speaker 4: they're gonna do with him. I always go back to
- 9:32Speaker 4: last year when Steelers coach Mike tom And called him
- 9:34Speaker 4: a wrecking ball. And Tomlin typically isn't given to praising
- 9:41Speaker 4: opponents unless it's warranted, and a Trayvon can be a
- 9:46Speaker 4: wrecking ball. He was at the end of last season.
- 9:48Speaker 4: It feels like this defense will put him in more
- 9:51Speaker 4: situations where when you're a rookie. For example, for him,
- 9:55Speaker 4: he's he's obviously usually the most dominant, strongest person in
- 9:59Speaker 4: his matchup. As a rookie, it's hard to make that
- 10:02Speaker 4: stand out all the time because you're not sure how
- 10:03Speaker 4: to use that ability. I think in year three, in
- 10:06Speaker 4: this scheme, I think you're gonna see wrecking ball Trayvon
- 10:10Speaker 4: very consistently. So yeah, I think it does fit him well.
- 10:12Speaker 3: They're gonna they're gonna be able to move him inside, right,
- 10:15Speaker 3: they talked about doing that some last year, but with
- 10:17Speaker 3: Eric Armstead, now you can do some tricky things where
- 10:20Speaker 3: you get him and what they call that three technique
- 10:22Speaker 3: the inside shoulder of the guard and able to get
- 10:25Speaker 3: up the field where he's gonna have mismatches. So it's
- 10:28Speaker 3: projection on my part, but I think this does fit
- 10:31Speaker 3: what he does really really well. And I think it's
- 10:33Speaker 3: important that people they don't see him as being the
- 10:37Speaker 3: other Josh Han talent Josh is that he's that edge
- 10:40Speaker 3: rusher who can bend and get. That's not what Trayvon does.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Trayvon destroys, I mean, he tears things apart on his
- 10:48Speaker 3: way to the quarterback. So in that sense, this scheme
- 10:53Speaker 3: and the way that they're gonna use with his hand
- 10:54Speaker 3: on the ground allows him to get off the ball
- 10:57Speaker 3: with more power and that's his game.
- 10:59Speaker 4: And to me, the most fascinating thing about this team
- 11:02Speaker 4: that we didn't see last year is the combination of
- 11:05Speaker 4: heinz Allen, but particularly Trayvon, Devon Hamilton and Eric Armstead healthy,
- 11:11Speaker 4: three guys who can dominate and disrupt. Get those three
- 11:16Speaker 4: guys healthy playing together. I'm not leaving Hines down out
- 11:19Speaker 4: of it, but that you know, three wrecking balls. Really
- 11:25Speaker 4: we haven't seen that. We haven't even seen Armstate in
- 11:27Speaker 4: it yet. That's the X factor to me defensively that
- 11:30Speaker 4: I get, they're playing fast, I get all that, but
- 11:33Speaker 4: if those three guys are as dominant as it feels
- 11:36Speaker 4: like they could be, then all of a sudden, you
- 11:38Speaker 4: can be a dominant defense.
- 11:39Speaker 6: And they have such great length.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I mean, Eric Armstead is bigger, if it's possible, than Trayvon,
- 11:44Speaker 3: and so you've got two guys with that kind of
- 11:46Speaker 3: length and disruptiveness. You can put them next to each
- 11:49Speaker 3: other on opposite side to the line. You create a
- 11:51Speaker 3: lot of problems for offensive coordinators.
- 11:53Speaker 2: It's always about the trenches on the other side of
- 11:55Speaker 2: the football. The offensive line is something we talked about
- 11:58Speaker 2: endlessly last season, still going to be a focus this season.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Obviously a new center in Mitch Morris. He spoke a
- 12:04Speaker 2: little bit last week as well about what it's going
- 12:06Speaker 2: to take to kind of get that consistency of playing
- 12:09Speaker 2: with people and dealing with injuries as well on the
- 12:11Speaker 2: offensive line, just.
- 12:12Speaker 9: The resilience of the group. You know, we had a
- 12:16Speaker 9: few guys go down, as is the nature of training camp,
- 12:19Speaker 9: and you know, guys stepped in then Bat and Eye
- 12:24Speaker 9: worked when they had to. And the great thing about
- 12:28Speaker 9: that is and when you go off the field, you
- 12:29Speaker 9: have this huge kind of relax feel because you know
- 12:33Speaker 9: you put your work in and then we can make
- 12:35Speaker 9: the adjustments and feel free to run and fly around
- 12:38Speaker 9: make mistakes because we're just trying to hear to get better,
- 12:40Speaker 9: and I think this group does.
- 12:42Speaker 6: A very good job of that.
- 12:44Speaker 2: As Morise mentioned, a couple of injuries we saw on
- 12:46Speaker 2: the offensive line last week. Anton Harrison in the concussion
- 12:49Speaker 2: protocol but is out practicing today, which is the first
- 12:51Speaker 2: we've seen him kind of participating in practice. Brian, what
- 12:55Speaker 2: what should we expect to see from the offensive line.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Is it going to be the full starting line.
- 12:58Speaker 3: No, it's not a Doug said two hours ago in
- 13:00Speaker 3: his news conference that we wouldn't see Ezra Cleveland this week,
- 13:04Speaker 3: nor would we see Anton Harrison. Good news is Cam
- 13:07Speaker 3: Robinson will be back out there, and obviously we'll see
- 13:10Speaker 3: Mitch Brandon Sheriff, you know, Walker Little probably over at
- 13:14Speaker 3: right tackle.
- 13:15Speaker 6: So no, you won't see the whole thing.
- 13:17Speaker 3: And it's gonna require some resiliency, which was Mitch's code
- 13:20Speaker 3: word there. It's gonna require guys to communicate and when
- 13:25Speaker 3: if Chris Jones plays right, be prepared.
- 13:29Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, I'm not looking past the Chiefs game.
- 13:31Speaker 4: But I think from Doug's perspective, he puts a lot
- 13:34Speaker 4: of value that I think maybe fans when they're looking at, Okay,
- 13:37Speaker 4: how's it going to prepare, he puts an awful lot
- 13:40Speaker 4: of value on those joint practices next week. I think
- 13:42Speaker 4: he would love nothing more than to have full offensive line, Ezra,
- 13:46Speaker 4: Anton and the three for two days of practice where
- 13:49Speaker 4: they know what they want to do against the Bucks,
- 13:52Speaker 4: hopefully get through that, and then have them available the
- 13:54Speaker 4: last preseason game. Just from listening to Doug over the
- 13:57Speaker 4: last couple of years. I think his approaches. If I
- 14:00Speaker 4: can get those five working in those two practices in
- 14:03Speaker 4: that last game, then that'll be as close to cohesion
- 14:08Speaker 4: all that as he can get. I think he'll give
- 14:10Speaker 4: up this first preseason game if he can get those
- 14:13Speaker 4: three key.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Workpoints, get those quality reps next week. Stay with us
- 14:17Speaker 2: here on JAGSA. I'm coming up after the break. We'll
- 14:19Speaker 2: go over a little bit more about that Chiefs game,
- 14:21Speaker 2: what players were expecting to have good games.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Jaguars fans, you're reminded.
- 14:34Speaker 2: To the Firehouse Subs San Marco location at nineteen forty
- 14:38Speaker 2: nine San Marco Boulevard in Jacksonville tomorrow from three to
- 14:42Speaker 2: four for a very special event. You can meet current
- 14:44Speaker 2: Jaguars players, Jackson Deville, the Roar cheerleaders.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Will be there.
- 14:48Speaker 2: It's all the kick off the thirtieth year of Jaguars
- 14:50Speaker 2: football and Firehouse Subs in Jacksonville. We hope to see there.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Got a lot of fans here in attendance. Today rainy,
- 15:00Speaker 2: it's not too too hot so in the shad. It's
- 15:02Speaker 2: nice day to take in practice and as we get
- 15:05Speaker 2: very close to game time, things are getting very exciting.
- 15:08Speaker 2: We're gonna see real football. It's been six seven months
- 15:10Speaker 2: at this point, so I know it's preseason football, but
- 15:12Speaker 2: it's still football for us, And obviously against the Super
- 15:14Speaker 2: Bowl champs, you can learn a lot from that, especially
- 15:17Speaker 2: because we've heard Andy Reid similar and Doug Peterson he'll
- 15:20Speaker 2: play his starters for about a quarter and a half
- 15:23Speaker 2: as well. So you're gonna get the best, right So
- 15:29Speaker 2: whoever you probably more that we don't know about you.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Whoever gets the chance to line up against Travis Kelsey,
- 15:34Speaker 3: Chris Jones. I mean, those are really valuable reps.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it's about as exciting as a preseason game gets,
- 15:42Speaker 4: so kind of that exciting, but it's so fit. It's
- 15:45Speaker 4: still better to have the champs in here than not
- 15:48Speaker 4: fair enough?
- 15:48Speaker 1: All Right, what are some players You're like? Yeah, who
- 15:50Speaker 1: are you looking at?
- 15:51Speaker 3: Who you chose you treat? Prince is the guy that
- 15:53Speaker 3: you know. He's a guy of the three young corners,
- 15:56Speaker 3: and they have three that are making moves in camp, right,
- 16:00Speaker 3: Krek Brown, Christian Braswell and Trey Prince. He's the guy
- 16:03Speaker 3: that I think has the most upside, and so on
- 16:07Speaker 3: Saturday night he will have the opportunity because the Chiefs
- 16:09Speaker 3: send the ball down the field. It doesn't matter who
- 16:12Speaker 3: the quarterback is. And there are some receivers, you know,
- 16:15Speaker 3: Kadarius Tony might be playing. When he's out on the field.
- 16:18Speaker 3: That's a guy with elite speed, So I think he'll
- 16:21Speaker 3: have a great test. I don't expect him to be
- 16:24Speaker 3: a guy that breaks the starting lineup, but he has
- 16:27Speaker 3: everything that you need mentally, physically, all of that. I
- 16:31Speaker 3: think he's the one with the greatest opportunity. He might
- 16:35Speaker 3: be the air apparent to go over to that other side.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Right Ronald Darby is a stopgap guy on a short
- 16:40Speaker 3: term contract. I think Prince, the way that I have
- 16:42Speaker 3: seen him play, I think they might have found a
- 16:44Speaker 3: guy who has the ability to become a starter in
- 16:48Speaker 3: his second third season.
- 16:49Speaker 6: Here, Yeah, my guy's tank Bigsby.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Originally he will, he will, he might so stick to
- 16:55Speaker 4: the format. I think he will get ample opportunity need
- 17:00Speaker 4: tomorrow you know, on Saturday. I'm sorry, because he's the
- 17:06Speaker 4: guy who needs reps. I think this is an opportunity
- 17:09Speaker 4: to get him real reps. That was the one thing
- 17:11Speaker 4: they couldn't quite do last season. They couldn't quite have
- 17:14Speaker 4: the confidence in him to get him in there when
- 17:16Speaker 4: he needed it.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Well, this is the first opportunity that, hey, go at it,
- 17:20Speaker 6: show you what you got. He won't. He won't leave
- 17:24Speaker 6: me hanging this year.
- 17:26Speaker 4: And you know, I liked Tank a lot and I
- 17:28Speaker 4: talked him up a lot last training camp, and the
- 17:31Speaker 4: circumstances just never played out. You had a couple fumbles early,
- 17:34Speaker 4: and it felt to me like the coaches they liked
- 17:38Speaker 4: the idea of him, they liked him, they liked his talent,
- 17:41Speaker 4: and yet on third and two there never quite came
- 17:46Speaker 4: the situation where is it better to have Tank or Travis. Well,
- 17:50Speaker 4: the games were always so tight that it was like,
- 17:53Speaker 4: we got to go with Travis because he's our best guy.
- 17:56Speaker 4: So I think he'll get much more opportunity to do
- 17:59Speaker 4: that this year, and he might. I hate to say
- 18:02Speaker 4: it because fans give me grief out all the time
- 18:04Speaker 4: about Tank Bigsby, but I still think that he might
- 18:08Speaker 4: be the guy to give them production, reliability, the physicality
- 18:15Speaker 4: that's needed to withstand the wear and tear. I still
- 18:18Speaker 4: think he might be okay as the other option to
- 18:21Speaker 4: Travis ETN. And if he doesn't do it this year,
- 18:24Speaker 4: I won't be talking about him next year During training
- 18:26Speaker 4: camp but I still think he's got that shot.
- 18:28Speaker 6: I think he is the guy.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Listen, Travis etn is a guy that can break big
- 18:35Speaker 3: plays right, But he's not the guy that I have
- 18:37Speaker 3: competence in on third down and one why Well because
- 18:40Speaker 3: last year they didn't get it done right.
- 18:41Speaker 6: They were that wouldn't Travis Well.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I'm not blaming it at all on him, but I
- 18:44Speaker 3: don't think he's that power back, and I think you
- 18:47Speaker 3: need a power.
- 18:48Speaker 6: Back in this game. So I do think he's a
- 18:50Speaker 6: nice compliment and I expect that he will this year.
- 18:52Speaker 2: I think we will see a lot different running game
- 18:55Speaker 2: because of the line, and I'm hoping that shows up
- 18:57Speaker 2: right away in this game. So I'm for sure with
- 18:59Speaker 2: you on that and hope let tank. Now he's been
- 19:01Speaker 2: here for a year, he'll have a little bit trust
- 19:03Speaker 2: with how things work. I think they have to trust him.
- 19:05Speaker 2: They don't have an option anymore. Obviously we saw last
- 19:07Speaker 2: year it didn't work if they don't, so they definitely
- 19:09Speaker 2: need to trust him going forward. I'm gonna go with
- 19:11Speaker 2: another young guy. I'm gonna go with Brian Thomas Junior.
- 19:13Speaker 2: We talked about had one of his best days of
- 19:15Speaker 2: camp yesterday. I think he will surprise you a little bit.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Obviously we know he's fast, but I feel like he's
- 19:22Speaker 2: a little sneaky fast at times where he's running and
- 19:24Speaker 2: then kind of puts in a little extra jet at
- 19:26Speaker 2: the end. So I think when you see that in
- 19:28Speaker 2: real action, you might be a little bit surprised by that.
- 19:31Speaker 2: He's not he won't be the focus of the offense tomorrow.
- 19:34Speaker 2: I think that's still Christian Kirk. They've Trevor shown a
- 19:37Speaker 2: lot of progress with Gabe Davis as well, who's a
- 19:40Speaker 2: new wide receiver.
- 19:40Speaker 1: So as Brian Thomas Junior.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Kind of figures things out, he's not gonna be the
- 19:44Speaker 2: focus right out of the gate, but he might pick
- 19:46Speaker 2: things up quicker than we expect him to. Even just
- 19:49Speaker 2: in the two and a half weeks that we've seen
- 19:51Speaker 2: of his practice so far, he's leaps and bounds because
- 19:55Speaker 2: I don't see him make a lot of repeated mistakes.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I feel like when things get addressed with him, he
- 20:00Speaker 2: kind of moved forward, moves forward from there, and that's.
- 20:03Speaker 1: All you can really ask of a rookie. Obviously, there's
- 20:05Speaker 1: a lot of stuff they're not going to know how
- 20:06Speaker 1: to do. They've never played in.
- 20:07Speaker 2: The NFL before, but seeing someone pick things up quickly
- 20:10Speaker 2: and not repeat mistakes is going to be huge for him.
- 20:12Speaker 6: I feel like you guys, yeah, we talked about it.
- 20:16Speaker 4: I think he's going to make an impact, and I've
- 20:19Speaker 4: been surprised during camp frankly at how many plays he
- 20:23Speaker 4: has made and how comfortable he looks. He gives me
- 20:25Speaker 4: great optimism that by the second half this season. I've
- 20:28Speaker 4: always said with a rookie, Brian, especially a high drafted rookie,
- 20:32Speaker 4: what you want is by the time we're done with
- 20:34Speaker 4: this this year and we're doing our wrap up show
- 20:38Speaker 4: in January or February, Hey, this kid's going to be
- 20:41Speaker 4: really good.
- 20:42Speaker 6: This kid's a keeper. This kid's going to be a
- 20:44Speaker 6: core guy.
- 20:44Speaker 4: I mean, I'd see it every week as a rookie,
- 20:46Speaker 4: but you want to really be excited and have him
- 20:49Speaker 4: be an off season topic next offseason.
- 20:51Speaker 3: I think he can be that guy. You know, since
- 20:53Speaker 3: Jimmy Smith retired in two thousand and five, they've had
- 20:55Speaker 3: big receivers, and they've had fast receivers, but they haven't
- 20:58Speaker 3: had that combination of so eyes and speed and instinct
- 21:02Speaker 3: and he appears to have all of that. Does that
- 21:05Speaker 3: mean he's gonna go out and have eighty receptions in
- 21:07Speaker 3: twelve hundred yards and nine touchdowns as a rookie.
- 21:09Speaker 6: No, but he's gonna make plays.
- 21:11Speaker 4: He is a.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Combination of all the qualities of a modern receiver, and
- 21:17Speaker 3: it's exciting to think that they've got a guy like that.
- 21:19Speaker 6: Now.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Yeah, there's been first round picks around here where you
- 21:22Speaker 4: watch him during training camp and you went, this is
- 21:25Speaker 4: a guy where you go, yeah, And it's a big difference.
- 21:29Speaker 4: You're not gonna see it quite yet, but there's all
- 21:31Speaker 4: those traits and it's exciting.
- 21:32Speaker 3: The last guy first round receiver that had that was
- 21:35Speaker 3: Justin Blackman, and we all know that career got derailed
- 21:38Speaker 3: and he didn't last very long in this league, but
- 21:40Speaker 3: he made you go, whoa, Okay, yeah, he could have
- 21:42Speaker 3: been special. Yeah, and this guy has the same physical trace.
- 21:46Speaker 3: He's taller, I think he's a little bit longer. We'll
- 21:48Speaker 3: find out if he can have the body control that
- 21:51Speaker 3: a Justin Blackman did which made him so special.
- 21:53Speaker 1: H I hope. So we'll get to see it in
- 21:55Speaker 1: action on Saturday.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Stay with us here on Jagsiah one final look at
- 21:59Speaker 2: preseason game number one as we wrap things up here
- 22:01Speaker 2: from training camp.

- 22:46Speaker 2: That's rookie Jari and Jones out at practice with Florida State,
- 22:50Speaker 2: who was in town to practice this week. A little
- 22:52Speaker 2: bit too much rain, so they took the indoor facility
- 22:55Speaker 2: across the way at Daily's place.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Yesterday.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Also saw Ronald Darby, former FSU player as well, so
- 23:02Speaker 2: it kind of catch up a little bit. Good to
- 23:03Speaker 2: see across the way.
- 23:04Speaker 6: It's been a minute since Ronald was there. I'm not
- 23:06Speaker 6: sure he's just a minute.
- 23:07Speaker 1: I don't think he knows as many players anymore.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Although good memories, I'm sure of that very very talented
- 23:13Speaker 2: Epicide team.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Any final words before the game or just let's play ball.
- 23:17Speaker 6: Let's play ball.
- 23:19Speaker 3: I am a person who likes to talk, but I'm
- 23:21Speaker 3: not sure that there's a whole lot to say other
- 23:23Speaker 3: than we've reached that point of camp, where it's time
- 23:25Speaker 3: to get off these fields and onto that one.
- 23:26Speaker 2: All right, let's do this thing. I'm taking on the
- 23:28Speaker 2: Chiefs in preseason game one on Saturday. We'll be back
- 23:30Speaker 2: here on Jags a'm on Monday to recap it, and
- 23:32Speaker 2: then we'll be back outside at joint practice on Wednesday
- 23:35Speaker 2: and Thursday next week.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us, and we'll see again soon
