- 0:01Speaker 1: In July twenty twenty, eighteen year old Grant Sulomon died
- 0:04Speaker 1: in what was deemed a freak accident in the parking
- 0:07Speaker 1: lot of a gym in Galadin, Tennessee. The circumstances were
- 0:12Speaker 1: as strange as they were tragic. There was only one
- 0:17Speaker 1: witness to the accident, Grant's father, a man who had
- 0:20Speaker 1: been under intense scrutiny after years of allegations of abuse
- 0:24Speaker 1: and mistreatment from his ex wife. With an investigation swiftly
- 0:30Speaker 1: opened and then closed, social media lit up over the injustice.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Hi there, I'm Kevin, and welcome to Just Thought Lounge.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Today's case has quite a few layers. If you've heard
- 0:43Speaker 1: or seen anything about it before, you'll likely expect this
- 0:46Speaker 1: to go in a different direction than the story is
- 0:49Speaker 1: about to take us. There are questions in this case
- 0:52Speaker 1: about large scale corruption, as well as gaslighting of an
- 0:56Speaker 1: abuse survivor by local and state officials, not to mention
- 1:00Speaker 1: family members. Most shocking is the implication that many, many
- 1:05Speaker 1: people have turned a blind eye to horrific allegations from
- 1:09Speaker 1: a child, accusations of attempted murder and possibly the killing
- 1:14Speaker 1: of an eighteen year old boy. There are two very
- 1:18Speaker 1: different sides to this story, but that doesn't mean that
- 1:21Speaker 1: the truth is black and white. Let's take a look.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Good morning, great to have you with us, and welcome
- 1:39Speaker 2: the Channel four News Today on this saggy Tuesday morning.
- 1:42Speaker 2: April twelfth, twenty eleven, on Aaron Solomon.
- 1:45Speaker 1: For fifteen years, Aaron Sulimon was a sports reporter and
- 1:48Speaker 1: morning news anchor with WSMVTV in Tennessee. Through his daily
- 1:54Speaker 1: presence on the news, Aaron became a familiar face in
- 1:57Speaker 1: living rooms all over Nashville and the surrounding area. Erin
- 2:02Speaker 1: left broadcasting around twenty eleven and became a financial advisor
- 2:07Speaker 1: for some of the world's top investment banks, including Morgan
- 2:11Speaker 1: Stanley and Merrill Lynch. Outwardly, it appeared that Aaron Sulimon
- 2:16Speaker 1: was a man that had it all. He and wife
- 2:19Speaker 1: Angelia were married in two thousand and one and went
- 2:22Speaker 1: on to have two beautiful children. Angie had a doctorate
- 2:26Speaker 1: in pharmacy and a career as a pharmacist, but eventually
- 2:30Speaker 1: took a step back to become a full time mum.
- 2:33Speaker 1: The picture of Sulomon family bliss, however, was shattered when
- 2:37Speaker 1: in twenty thirteen, Aaron filed for divorce. What ensued was
- 2:43Speaker 1: a messy battle over the children as well as financial support.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Erin had already declared bankruptcy once The couple were again
- 2:51Speaker 1: buried in debt, but unable to declare bankruptcy once again.
- 2:56Speaker 1: At that time, both were unemployed, but finances were the
- 3:02Speaker 1: least of their concerns. During the divorce proceedings in twenty
- 3:06Speaker 1: thirteen and for years after, Angie vocalized very serious allegations
- 3:11Speaker 1: of abuse against Erin. She alleged that she and both
- 3:15Speaker 1: of the children were the victims. The situation in their
- 3:20Speaker 1: home had gotten so bad that, only days before he
- 3:22Speaker 1: filed for divorce, Angie alleged that Erin had tried to
- 3:27Speaker 1: kill her. Despite what Angie described as a living nightmare
- 3:32Speaker 1: at home, the judge overseeing their divorce proceedings initially awarded
- 3:36Speaker 1: custody of the children to Erin. Angie routinely lost visitation
- 3:41Speaker 1: rights with the kids. Over the years, the custody disputes continued,
- 3:46Speaker 1: so did the allegations of Erin's behavior. No one, it seemed,
- 3:52Speaker 1: was willing to help the Solomon children escape from their father.
- 3:56Speaker 1: The two kids eventually ignored a court order and ran
- 3:59Speaker 1: away from their fathers home to stay with their mother.
- 4:05Speaker 1: In twenty twenty, their eldest, Grant, had just turned eighteen
- 4:10Speaker 1: years old. Grant was tall, athletic, fun loving with a
- 4:14Speaker 1: big heart. He was a star baseball player and a
- 4:17Speaker 1: protective older brother. Gracie, four years younger than her brother,
- 4:22Speaker 1: was also an active and loving child, having just become
- 4:26Speaker 1: a legal adult. It was said that Grant was seeking
- 4:29Speaker 1: to win custody of his younger sister. Where the courts
- 4:33Speaker 1: had failed his mother, he would step in and protect Gracie.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Angie claimed that her son had been a witness to
- 4:40Speaker 1: her attempted murder back in twenty thirteen, he knew what
- 4:44Speaker 1: his father was capable of. When Grant Suliman met with
- 4:51Speaker 1: his father on the morning of July twentieth, twenty twenty,
- 4:54Speaker 1: Angie said that the two had not spent time together
- 4:57Speaker 1: in about two years. Grant had a private pitching session
- 5:01Speaker 1: booked at the Ward Performance Institute in Galadin, roughly fifty
- 5:05Speaker 1: miles from his home in Franklin. He agreed to meet
- 5:09Speaker 1: his father there. What happened next is told mostly through
- 5:12Speaker 1: the perspective of Aaron Solomon. He said that he pulled
- 5:16Speaker 1: into the parking lot. First parked his truck and waited
- 5:19Speaker 1: for Grant to drive into the lot behind him. Grant
- 5:22Speaker 1: then pulled in it next to his father. They had
- 5:25Speaker 1: arrived early and were in no rush to get inside.
- 5:29Speaker 1: According to Erin, he took this opportunity to check work
- 5:31Speaker 1: emails on his phone before exiting his vehicle. When he
- 5:35Speaker 1: glanced back up from his device, Grant's truck was no
- 5:38Speaker 1: longer beside his Erin believed that Grant had gotten out
- 5:42Speaker 1: of the front cap of the truck to retrieve his
- 5:44Speaker 1: baseball gear from either the back seat or the bed
- 5:47Speaker 1: of the pickup. When the truck somehow shifted gears, or
- 5:50Speaker 1: perhaps it was never in park, the vehicle rolled backwards
- 5:55Speaker 1: dragged him across the pavement, down a hill, and into
- 5:58Speaker 1: a ditch. Less than ten minutes after arriving at the facility,
- 6:02Speaker 1: Aaron called nine one one from the parking lot. Looking
- 6:07Speaker 1: down on the truck in the ditch. He told the
- 6:09Speaker 1: operator that his son was trapped under the truck and
- 6:12Speaker 1: needed immediate assistance.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Okay, my son's truck backed over him and he's it's
- 6:24Speaker 3: rolled over him and drugged him into the ditch, and
- 6:26Speaker 3: it's on top of him. He's trapped under the truck.
- 6:30Speaker 3: And yeah, he you somehow I drug him underneath it. Yes,
- 6:38Speaker 3: my son is under it. I'm trying to know. I'm
- 6:41Speaker 3: trying to.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Call nine to one one.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Okay, what your name? My name is Aaron Solomon.
- 6:51Speaker 5: It's a mail.
- 6:53Speaker 3: He's eighteen, he.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Just turned eighteen, a good week spread a month ago.
- 6:57Speaker 3: It's my son. Oh my god, Oh my god, this
- 7:01Speaker 3: is not good. I don't know. I don't think so.
- 7:06Speaker 3: He's not he's not alert right, No, he's out and
- 7:11Speaker 3: he's trapped. I got three guys here and he's trapped
- 7:14Speaker 3: under the truck. Okay, I understand.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Thursday.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I'm the phone me while we get somebody out there.
- 7:20Speaker 3: What's your name? Aaron Solomon.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Throughout the call, Aaron sporadically called down to the men
- 7:29Speaker 1: that he said are next to Grant in the ditch.
- 7:31Speaker 1: His son was lying face up between the front two
- 7:34Speaker 1: tires of the truck.
- 7:36Speaker 3: He's underneath the vehicle and and it's that's my son.
- 7:42Speaker 3: It's somehow backed up. Yeah, yeah, I'm on one. I'm
- 7:47Speaker 3: on with nine one on one right now. Oh my god,
- 7:52Speaker 3: was your son working on it? No? No, he was
- 7:56Speaker 3: just getting out of it.
- 7:57Speaker 7: It's the hill.
- 7:58Speaker 3: It's we're on an incline, and I guess he didn't
- 8:01Speaker 3: have it in park or something, or it wasn't engaged
- 8:05Speaker 3: or my god, oh my god, responding no, no, and
- 8:15Speaker 3: he's still no one can get.
- 8:19Speaker 6: Can you check in for you?
- 8:21Speaker 8: Din Uh.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Somebody's telling me that he's coming to.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Okay, I'm telling somebody and talk to it.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Yeah, somebody talked to him the.
- 8:38Speaker 9: Ship.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Grant, turn your face to the side if you can barely,
- 8:42Speaker 3: but be careful.
- 8:44Speaker 10: Don't move him.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Okay, we can't move him.
- 8:48Speaker 3: We can't. We can't move him.
- 8:57Speaker 1: When emergency services arrived, they found Grant on his back
- 9:01Speaker 1: under the truck and no longer conscious. The vehicle was
- 9:05Speaker 1: lifted with some difficulty, and Grant was rushed to the hospital.
- 9:09Speaker 1: The teenager did not survive his injuries. An employee from
- 9:15Speaker 1: the gym facility came out of the building and noticed
- 9:18Speaker 1: that the vehicles were parked oddly in the lot. He
- 9:21Speaker 1: reported that he saw Aaron Solomon pacing back and forth
- 9:24Speaker 1: on his cell phone. There were three other men present.
- 9:28Speaker 1: The limited police reports made available from the incident stated
- 9:32Speaker 1: that no other witnesses were located. The men that were
- 9:35Speaker 1: thought to be construction workers left the scene before police arrived.
- 9:40Speaker 11: Yeah, I am.
- 9:41Speaker 12: We were in there kind of getting ready for everything, right,
- 9:45Speaker 12: And when I came out, I didn't even know what
- 9:49Speaker 12: was going on. What I noticed was I was walking
- 9:51Speaker 12: by the door of the doors open right now and
- 9:53Speaker 12: just cause or parked sideways as you can see how
- 9:55Speaker 12: people kind of park vertically obviously, Yeah, and my idea,
- 9:57Speaker 12: why aren't people parking? I just like, I'm like, what's
- 9:59Speaker 12: going on? And then I came out and the truck
- 10:01Speaker 12: was already on them, and Grant's dad was over there.
- 10:05Speaker 4: On the phone.
- 10:05Speaker 13: I guess, calling the paramedics. I think, you know, like I.
- 10:08Speaker 12: Said, in this year, there were like some construction workers.
- 10:10Speaker 12: They had on a highviz is all.
- 10:12Speaker 9: I know.
- 10:12Speaker 13: You came out, you saw the cars parked, weird, how
- 10:15Speaker 13: many people did you see? If you were called for
- 10:18Speaker 13: four people, like three or four? The truck was already
- 10:21Speaker 13: down in the ditch. You saw Aaron Solomon already where.
- 10:24Speaker 12: Kind of the park is, like on the edge of
- 10:26Speaker 12: the grass right there, like literally looking down true, calling paramedics.
- 10:30Speaker 13: Okay, and then so Aaron the truck and then who
- 10:34Speaker 13: else did you see? I know, you didn't know them,
- 10:37Speaker 13: but how many people like three threeish people and you
- 10:42Speaker 13: they looked like construction workers.
- 10:43Speaker 12: Like they had on ives, so they were like the yellow, yeah,
- 10:47Speaker 12: black way you see, like alignment and construction workers. Is
- 10:51Speaker 12: just like anytime you work on the road or like
- 10:53Speaker 12: in something like that, you have to wear hi and.
- 10:54Speaker 13: Its three or so. Yeah. At that point, were there
- 10:58Speaker 13: police cars or no? A few minutes later, okay, okay.
- 11:04Speaker 1: There were no security cameras at the facility or anywhere
- 11:07Speaker 1: else nearby that would have captured events. Aaron Sulimon was
- 11:11Speaker 1: the only witness to his son's death. He would later
- 11:15Speaker 1: explain what he saw to his ex wife on video.
- 11:19Speaker 14: Something I need to address.
- 11:21Speaker 15: My car is still running with air conditioner on, so
- 11:24Speaker 15: I can't hear if his is on or off.
- 11:27Speaker 2: But the last so I looked down and then I
- 11:28Speaker 2: look back up and I see him.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Because we were early.
- 11:32Speaker 16: Yeah, we had like plenty of time, so there was
- 11:33Speaker 16: no rush. We had our time.
- 11:36Speaker 2: So the last I see is him literally like right
- 11:41Speaker 2: here closing this, about to open this, and I'm thinking.
- 11:45Speaker 16: Oh, he's just going to get his gear and I'm
- 11:47Speaker 16: going to check this email to make sure it's not important.
- 11:49Speaker 1: And then I'm going to get out and we're going
- 11:51Speaker 1: to go in.
- 11:51Speaker 17: They have his ballheb on then everything.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not thinking worst case scenario at the very beginning.
- 11:57Speaker 15: At first, when I got out of my car, thinking
- 11:59Speaker 15: oh my gosh, and I look around the parking lot
- 12:01Speaker 15: and I don't see him. I start coming down this hill,
- 12:04Speaker 15: and first I'm looking through the windsheet to see if
- 12:07Speaker 15: he had hopped back in by chance, because I don't
- 12:09Speaker 15: see him standing up out here.
- 12:11Speaker 2: So then I'm like, well, maybe he got back in somehow,
- 12:13Speaker 2: and I don't look.
- 12:14Speaker 16: I don't see him in.
- 12:15Speaker 15: And so I'm above the hill and this is the
- 12:18Speaker 15: front ends at the bottom of the ditch.
- 12:19Speaker 2: And I look down and I don't see his entire
- 12:24Speaker 2: body because I see his red shirt and his head
- 12:28Speaker 2: over here because he's angled that way.
- 12:30Speaker 16: So I know that I don't.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I know he wasn't covered by wheels up front, neither
- 12:35Speaker 2: his head nor his feet, but he wasn't perfectly perpendicular.
- 12:39Speaker 16: He was at a.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Little bit of an Hospital staff recorded a laceration with
- 12:44Speaker 1: bleeding on the back of Grant's head and three bruises,
- 12:47Speaker 1: one on his jaw, one near his left hip, and
- 12:50Speaker 1: one on his right thigh. This basic medical report noted
- 12:54Speaker 1: no punctures, fractures, bleeding, or any other wounds beyond those
- 12:59Speaker 1: three bruises and the one laceration to his head. According
- 13:03Speaker 1: to Aaron Solomon, doctors who treated Grant told him that
- 13:06Speaker 1: his son had suffered significant internal damage, which would be
- 13:10Speaker 1: consistent with the accident as described. However, documentation of these
- 13:15Speaker 1: injuries and others are lacking. There appears to be no
- 13:19Speaker 1: record of burns from the hot vehicle, which had just
- 13:22Speaker 1: been driven for over an hour to the sports facility.
- 13:25Speaker 1: For example, it remains unclear if or how Grant had
- 13:29Speaker 1: become stuck on the underbelly of the vehicle, or what
- 13:32Speaker 1: portions of his body came in contact with which parts
- 13:35Speaker 1: of the truck. Aaron speculates that he was trapped by
- 13:38Speaker 1: the axle.
- 13:41Speaker 2: His I think his chest an abdomen area was trapped
- 13:43Speaker 2: by the axle.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I believe, so this is actually.
- 13:49Speaker 17: How would you know that the axle was on him?
- 13:53Speaker 2: Because that's the area, because that's like, that's where because.
- 14:01Speaker 16: Of where his head was.
- 14:03Speaker 1: A thorough reconstruction of the event would be needed to
- 14:06Speaker 1: determine what other injuries should be expected. Grant was ostensibly
- 14:11Speaker 1: dragged roughly sixty feet across the ashphalt while wearing a
- 14:15Speaker 1: t shirt and shorts, but the report seems to omit
- 14:18Speaker 1: the types of cuts and abrasions one would expect to
- 14:20Speaker 1: see in that scenario. After Grant had been pulled from
- 14:24Speaker 1: the scene, photos showed bloodied rocks near to the truck.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Additional photos of responding emergency personnel also showed a ditch
- 14:32Speaker 1: full of long, tall grass, seemingly undisturbed from the truck
- 14:37Speaker 1: having rolled through it. Further photos posted online suggest a
- 14:41Speaker 1: tire track on the far side of the pavement. If
- 14:44Speaker 1: the image is accurate, the truck drove forward from the road,
- 14:48Speaker 1: not backward from the parking lot. The image is unverified
- 14:54Speaker 1: and unclear. It had also been widely reported that the
- 14:59Speaker 1: truck was found in park with the keys still in
- 15:02Speaker 1: the ignition. The available police report does not speak to
- 15:06Speaker 1: this point. It's unclear what happened to all of Grant's clothing,
- 15:10Speaker 1: though his shoes and socks, undamaged, were returned to his mother.
- 15:15Speaker 1: These appeared to show no signs of what had occurred.
- 15:20Speaker 1: In the immediate aftermath of his death, Aaron declined an autopsy.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Police released the white pickup truck back into his possession
- 15:29Speaker 1: without conducting a forensic examination. These choices left a gaping
- 15:34Speaker 1: hole in the death investigation, which was subsequently closed. The
- 15:39Speaker 1: Galladan Police determined Grant Solomon's death was an accident.
- 15:46Speaker 17: Right, yeah, yeah, pull up, just pull up a little further.
- 15:50Speaker 10: Try it there, okay, now neutral, I mean reverse, But.
- 16:06Speaker 15: Here's here's neutral that's immediate, so he can't.
- 16:11Speaker 11: Even get out.
- 16:13Speaker 2: So it's either gotta be quite honestly, it seems like
- 16:16Speaker 2: it's gotta.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Be maybe dry, and it was paused because this is
- 16:19Speaker 1: not still not as steep as their parking. Yeah, the
- 16:22Speaker 1: only thing I can.
- 16:23Speaker 15: Think is maybe it was in.
- 16:26Speaker 16: But even I don't know.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I'll see right here it's it's in drive and.
- 16:29Speaker 18: It's not okay.
- 16:32Speaker 17: But if my dad's series was true that it was
- 16:35Speaker 17: jumped out of gear and it jumped a reverse, he
- 16:37Speaker 17: can't get But if it jumped after after he.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Got out, right, hold on, you go?
- 16:53Speaker 19: What's that?
- 16:54Speaker 20: Well?
- 16:54Speaker 16: I just tried to see if I could even put
- 16:57Speaker 16: it in park where.
- 16:57Speaker 15: It's over where it shifts, and it would he stayed
- 17:00Speaker 15: automatically goes over here.
- 17:02Speaker 10: So okay, I don't know it's just so free. Wait
- 17:06Speaker 10: what it makes sense.
- 17:07Speaker 2: I was trying to see see how park it goes
- 17:10Speaker 2: in there.
- 17:10Speaker 16: I was trying to see, like you were saying, would it.
- 17:12Speaker 19: Pop out of akay, because it has to go over
- 17:14Speaker 19: to the column.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Right, so it won't stay there.
- 17:18Speaker 2: It won't stay right there to possibly pop down to reverse.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know none to make sense. The
- 17:25Speaker 1: decision made by the gallad and police did not sit
- 17:28Speaker 1: well with Angelia. The circumstances of Grant's death were both
- 17:32Speaker 1: bizarre and suspicious. There was no indication that the truck
- 17:36Speaker 1: had malfunctioned, and despite explanations being offered by others, mostly
- 17:41Speaker 1: those close to Aaron, that doctors had found internal injuries,
- 17:45Speaker 1: and she firmly believed that the forensic evidence did not
- 17:49Speaker 1: align to Aaron's story. Doctor Solomon knew that there was
- 17:54Speaker 1: a clear motive for Aaron to kill his son years
- 17:58Speaker 1: of abuse that she claimed the family had suffered at
- 18:01Speaker 1: his hands. Angie alleged that Grant had played the role
- 18:05Speaker 1: of protector to both her and Gracie. She said that
- 18:09Speaker 1: her son had suffered years of psychological and at times
- 18:12Speaker 1: physical abuse at the hands of his father. At the
- 18:16Speaker 1: time of his death, Grant had been speaking to friends
- 18:19Speaker 1: about how he planned to testify against his father as
- 18:22Speaker 1: an adult, even going so far as attempting to win
- 18:26Speaker 1: custody of his younger sister. For years, Angie had been
- 18:31Speaker 1: seeking the assistance of authorities in Franklin and brought her
- 18:35Speaker 1: Williamson County and in the state of Tennessee. In twenty eighteen,
- 18:40Speaker 1: she connected on Facebook with County Sheriff Jeff Long and
- 18:44Speaker 1: expressed fears for her own life and that of her children.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Only a few months later, deputies from the same sheriff's
- 18:52Speaker 1: office would arrive at her house to take the children
- 18:55Speaker 1: from her once more and return them to her ex husband.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Reports to the Department of Child Protective Services DCS bore
- 19:05Speaker 1: no results for the desperate mother. By the time of
- 19:09Speaker 1: Grant's death, Angie had been barred by court order from
- 19:11Speaker 1: placing any more legal claims against her ex husband for
- 19:15Speaker 1: a full six years, until Gracie reached the age of eighteen.
- 19:22Speaker 1: What could account for the authorities in Williamson County and
- 19:25Speaker 1: the State of Tennessee so routinely turning their back on
- 19:28Speaker 1: Angelia Solomon and her children in the face of numerous
- 19:32Speaker 1: serious claims. According to Angie, it was Aaron Solomon's connections.
- 19:38Speaker 1: The church where Aaron worshiped, Grace Chapel, was also the
- 19:41Speaker 1: one attended by a number of high powered individuals, state
- 19:45Speaker 1: Governor Bill Lee and Senator Jack Johnson, to name a couple.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Jack Johnson's wife, Dianna Johnson, was the judge who had
- 19:54Speaker 1: ruled against Angie, barring her from continuing to place claims
- 19:58Speaker 1: against her ex husband. With the court system against her,
- 20:03Speaker 1: DCS investigations closed without actions taken and no other means
- 20:08Speaker 1: to be heard, Angie took to the media, but the
- 20:12Speaker 1: assistance of friends and other concerned supporters, she launched a
- 20:16Speaker 1: social media campaign to draw attention to Grant's case and
- 20:20Speaker 1: her allegations of abuse.
- 20:24Speaker 21: This is what's so confounding. Why would authorities cover for
- 20:30Speaker 21: Aaron Solomon if what you say is true, if the
- 20:34Speaker 21: forensics showed otherwise, why would anybody cover for, you know,
- 20:40Speaker 21: for your son's father.
- 20:44Speaker 8: I mean, that's the question is who is Aaron Solomon?
- 20:48Speaker 8: Who is he really? And really what you're seeing here
- 20:51Speaker 8: is in the sadness of Grant not being here any
- 20:54Speaker 8: longer is just a continuation of the pattern of life
- 20:59Speaker 8: that we lived from twenty thirteen till that day in
- 21:03Speaker 8: July twenty, twenty twenty, under Aaron Solomon's control. It's just
- 21:09Speaker 8: a continuation why no one helped ever at any point,
- 21:13Speaker 8: Why no one stopped and stepped out of the circle
- 21:16Speaker 8: and helped Gracie and Grant just as children on their own.
- 21:19Speaker 8: There's a forensic evaluation and interview on file at the
- 21:23Speaker 8: Williamson County Sheriff's apartment that was arrestable and they let
- 21:27Speaker 8: it go. So if one adult had done their job,
- 21:31Speaker 8: Grant wouldn't have had to step in and do the
- 21:34Speaker 8: job that adults are supposed to do.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Angelia and her supporters set up a series of social
- 21:41Speaker 1: media accounts to perpetuate their message. They called the movement
- 21:45Speaker 1: Freedom for Gracie. The name highlighted the tragic situation that
- 21:49Speaker 1: Grant's little sister found herself in following his death. There
- 21:53Speaker 1: are additional postings under the name Justice for Grant. Gracie
- 21:57Speaker 1: believed that her father had killed her brother. Custody between
- 22:01Speaker 1: the two parents remained unclear, but Gracie had been vocal
- 22:05Speaker 1: for years over her refusals to live with her father.
- 22:09Speaker 1: She would refuse to leave with him and she would
- 22:11Speaker 1: run back to her mother.
- 22:14Speaker 22: I was all right, So there after the party, you
- 22:17Speaker 22: go with me Grantssissippi, right, I don't.
- 22:20Speaker 19: I don't my God to please. I just wanted.
- 22:25Speaker 22: You're coming to a.
- 22:29Speaker 16: Because you guys are breaking rules.
- 22:33Speaker 8: I'm not.
- 22:35Speaker 16: You two are breaking the rules.
- 22:36Speaker 21: I'm not.
- 22:40Speaker 4: That way you think.
- 22:42Speaker 11: So I know what it is.
- 22:45Speaker 16: I understand, But at some point, we're supposed to be
- 22:49Speaker 16: following rules at Armen College, and there's reasons for the rules,
- 22:54Speaker 16: and it doesn't matter what me us three think. We've
- 22:58Speaker 16: had this conversation a number of times, but it's going
- 23:00Speaker 16: to stop. Gracie will be coming to me at some point,
- 23:03Speaker 16: whether you like.
- 23:04Speaker 22: It or not, it will happen.
- 23:08Speaker 16: Because I'm not going to continue to allow us to
- 23:11Speaker 16: be breaking the rules.
- 23:13Speaker 22: And you shouldn't be allowing the evil, and you shouldn't
- 23:15Speaker 22: be allowing the evil. It's not just about what you want, right,
- 23:21Speaker 22: It's much bigger than that. And I've tried to play
- 23:24Speaker 22: nice and be nice about it, and that you've done
- 23:27Speaker 22: with mom way more than you're supposed to and more
- 23:30Speaker 22: than way more than what the judges estion. It doesn't
- 23:33Speaker 22: matter what you think.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Right then, in a heartbreaking move that proved impossible to ignore.
- 23:41Speaker 1: In twenty twenty one, Gracie posted a video. It has
- 23:45Speaker 1: been viewed over one hundred and sixty thousand times. The
- 23:49Speaker 1: video is entitled a Cry for Help. In it the
- 23:54Speaker 1: young teen, it details years of alleged abuse. In the video,
- 24:00Speaker 1: calls her father a rapist and a killer.
- 24:09Speaker 11: My name is Ferracy Solomon. At fourteen years old, I'm
- 24:12Speaker 11: nears of my story. I just want to say before
- 24:16Speaker 11: get into any of this, so it's coming straight from me.
- 24:19Speaker 11: It's all me and no, that's just so much. My
- 24:25Speaker 11: brother died protecting me from my father, Aaron Solmon. My
- 24:29Speaker 11: follows are a monster. It makes you want to go on.
- 24:32Speaker 11: He is trying to force me to come up for
- 24:35Speaker 11: a Sunday back doing counsel to never do this and
- 24:38Speaker 11: from he would never try to take me again.
- 24:42Speaker 7: He's a liar.
- 24:43Speaker 11: I'm so scared. I've seen him do terrible.
- 24:46Speaker 8: Things for people.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Since the divorce in twenty thirteen, claims of abuse against
- 24:51Speaker 1: Aaron Solomon have been made in four different courts and
- 24:55Speaker 1: instigated at least seven separate child welfare investigations. All of
- 25:00Speaker 1: these claims were closed without actions taken along with the
- 25:07Speaker 1: Grace Chapel Church its associated school, Grace Christian Academy, where
- 25:11Speaker 1: Gracie attended, has come under fire for ignoring her claims
- 25:15Speaker 1: and failing to report what she has told them. They
- 25:18Speaker 1: are legally obligated to report any reasonable concern to authorities.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Widely circulated recordings of school staff discussing the issue painted
- 25:28Speaker 1: picture of officials who care more about the image of
- 25:31Speaker 1: the institution than the safety of one of their students.
- 25:36Speaker 1: They would prefer the subject not be discussed openly.
- 25:40Speaker 11: A lot of.
- 25:41Speaker 5: Kids are being affected by, you know, what she's gone
- 25:47Speaker 5: through and what she's telling people. And then they're so young,
- 25:50Speaker 5: I'm talking about ten and eleven year old, you know,
- 25:53Speaker 5: so they don't know.
- 25:53Speaker 16: What to do with them.
- 25:54Speaker 5: Then they go tell somebody else, and then it's like,
- 25:56Speaker 5: I just don't want it to like come the talk
- 25:59Speaker 5: of the school alive of its own. We want it
- 26:02Speaker 5: for her, so we contain this. I don't want it,
- 26:06Speaker 5: you know, like I want to bring a lie to
- 26:09Speaker 5: it when people.
- 26:10Speaker 9: Don't know here he is that you don't want her
- 26:14Speaker 9: to talk to about it, to talk to anyone about
- 26:16Speaker 9: it other than you don't want her to talk to
- 26:19Speaker 9: more people about it is what I'm hearing you saying.
- 26:22Speaker 8: Well, because it's just something that.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Head master of Grace Christian Academy, Robbie Mason, has been
- 26:30Speaker 1: singled out by the Freedom for Gracie movement. They say
- 26:34Speaker 1: he has failed to protect his students.
- 26:37Speaker 14: Please come to us so that we can give you
- 26:39Speaker 14: the truth. Always say, we're not going to believe everything
- 26:43Speaker 14: that your kids tell us about you, So please don't
- 26:46Speaker 14: believe everything that your kids say about us.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Outrage over the apparent corruption of the legal system, the
- 26:53Speaker 1: failure of social services and morally bankrupt religious and educational
- 26:58Speaker 1: institutions has very under standably intensified.
- 27:02Speaker 23: The administration of this school failed the Solomon children, and
- 27:07Speaker 23: because of it, one of them is dead. And this
- 27:10Speaker 23: man is walking free. When you sit beside the governor
- 27:14Speaker 23: of Tennessee at church, you can get away with anything.
- 27:19Speaker 6: He was eighteen years old, and when I tell you
- 27:21Speaker 6: the story of what happened to him, his mother and
- 27:23Speaker 6: his sister, it will haunt you forever.
- 27:26Speaker 11: This man is a child predator and a child murderer.
- 27:29Speaker 1: If you see him in your area, you need to
- 27:31Speaker 1: get away from him.
- 27:32Speaker 6: A little bit surprised because Tennessee is shady as fuck.
- 27:35Speaker 6: This is Aaron Solomon who was accused of graping his
- 27:38Speaker 6: own daughter and unliving his own son. Grace Chapel and
- 27:42Speaker 6: Grace Academy were well aware of the abuse and did nothing.
- 27:46Speaker 11: I need to know more facts, but I can't tell
- 27:48Speaker 11: you this.
- 27:49Speaker 8: There's a reason of come.
- 27:50Speaker 18: Again, so make of that what you will if it
- 27:57Speaker 18: isn't already clear. In my opinion, the Good Old Boys
- 28:01Speaker 18: Club was hard at work.
- 28:08Speaker 1: There have been calls online for Aaron Solomon to lose
- 28:11Speaker 1: his role as a financial advisor, for him to be
- 28:14Speaker 1: jailed and worse so. In twenty twenty one, following the
- 28:19Speaker 1: release of Gracie's video, Aaron filed a defamation lawsuit against
- 28:24Speaker 1: roughly twenty named individuals, including his ex wife. Other defendants
- 28:29Speaker 1: included friends of his children and their parents who have
- 28:32Speaker 1: been involved with social media accounts. Although the false claim
- 28:37Speaker 1: at the center of his lawsuit relates to Gracie's video
- 28:40Speaker 1: statement and the movement that has her name, his daughter
- 28:43Speaker 1: is not listed amongst the defendants. Aaron Solomon states that
- 28:48Speaker 1: Angelia is centrally responsible for the negative and accusatory social
- 28:53Speaker 1: media campaign against him. He believes that she has written
- 28:56Speaker 1: all or most of the posts online posing as someone
- 29:00Speaker 1: else in order to present her views as facts in
- 29:04Speaker 1: third person, and that his daughter is a victim of
- 29:08Speaker 1: parental alien nation. It seems that this argument had been
- 29:16Speaker 1: building against doctor Angelia Sulomon for some time. It dates
- 29:21Speaker 1: back to the initial days of the divorce, when Judge
- 29:24Speaker 1: Smith ruled that both children should stay with Erin and
- 29:27Speaker 1: be temporarily removed from contact with their mother. Unlike Judge Johnson,
- 29:33Speaker 1: who arguably had a conflict of interest, Judge Smith did not.
- 29:39Speaker 1: He heard testimony from Angelia about the night that she
- 29:42Speaker 1: alleged her then husband tried to kill her. A few
- 29:47Speaker 1: facts about the alleged attempted murder are not in dispute.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Angelia found herself in the shower of their bathroom in
- 29:54Speaker 1: the family home in Franklin around two am on May tenth.
- 29:59Speaker 1: She had the core of a hair dryer around her neck.
- 30:02Speaker 4: I thing was terribly awry because there was a blow
- 30:04Speaker 4: dryer in the shower resting in the bottom of the
- 30:07Speaker 4: shower and the prong was sticking up and tied to
- 30:11Speaker 4: the shower nozzle.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Aaron found her, revived her, and subsequently called her parents
- 30:18Speaker 1: and took her for psychiatric treatment the next day. But
- 30:23Speaker 1: was this an attempted murder or, as Aaron would claim,
- 30:26Speaker 1: that Angelia committed a staged suicide. In the twenty thirteen
- 30:32Speaker 1: divorce hearing, Aaron's attorney argued that Angie had staged the
- 30:36Speaker 1: scene in the shower for attention. That text between the
- 30:39Speaker 1: two exchanged in the hours after the incident showed this
- 30:43Speaker 1: to be true. Angie admitted as much at that time.
- 30:47Speaker 1: There was never a murder attempt, only an elaborate lie constructed. Afterwards,
- 30:52Speaker 1: text messages between her and Aaron were presented to Judge
- 30:56Speaker 1: Smith in an effort to compel the truth from Angie
- 30:59Speaker 1: and write Aaron had lied to her in the text,
- 31:02Speaker 1: saying that he had taken a photo of her in
- 31:05Speaker 1: the shower before he assisted her. Angie's text back read,
- 31:10Speaker 1: you took a picture before you tried to help me.
- 31:12Speaker 1: That just shows me where this has gone. I staged
- 31:15Speaker 1: that anyway, but who cares use it against me? All
- 31:21Speaker 1: I wanted was to be loved, nothing more. Unfortunately I
- 31:25Speaker 1: wouldn't kill myself, but you would memorialize my faking it
- 31:28Speaker 1: to get attention and use it against me instead of
- 31:32Speaker 1: love me. When questioned Angie testified that she did not
- 31:40Speaker 1: think that she wrote those revealing texts. According to the
- 31:44Speaker 1: court record, Judge Smith left the courtroom to eat a
- 31:47Speaker 1: sandwich and read the exchange directly from her phone, which
- 31:51Speaker 1: had been preserved as evidence. He returned and determined that
- 31:56Speaker 1: she was being untruthful. In a later email, the court
- 32:00Speaker 1: read that Angie again wrote to Erin about the same
- 32:04Speaker 1: shower incident. I made a bad choice for attention, but
- 32:07Speaker 1: I expect I accept responsibility for that choice and have
- 32:12Speaker 1: learned why I did it and won't repeat it. When
- 32:16Speaker 1: asked if she wrote that email, Angie testified that statement
- 32:20Speaker 1: and other similar statements that she made were an attempt
- 32:23Speaker 1: to get her husband to come home to her. In
- 32:26Speaker 1: multiple texts to Erin, she threatened to hurt herself because,
- 32:30Speaker 1: as she stated in the court record, I know that
- 32:33Speaker 1: would get him to come back home. My heart was broken.
- 32:40Speaker 1: After Grant's death, Angie reverted to her original version of
- 32:43Speaker 1: this event on social media, ignoring her testimony in court.
- 32:48Speaker 1: She says now that it was in fact an attempted murder.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Many of the claims on the Freedom for Gracie website
- 32:58Speaker 1: canflict with the court rect Doctor Solomon herself testified that
- 33:03Speaker 1: she was trying to win her husband back in May
- 33:05Speaker 1: twenty thirteen. However, the website states that she was trying
- 33:09Speaker 1: desperately to leave her husband for years before the divorce.
- 33:14Speaker 1: She sought a protective order against him after the shower
- 33:17Speaker 1: incident in twenty thirteen, but later dropped it.
- 33:24Speaker 24: I'm still fighting today and I really thought Grant and
- 33:28Speaker 24: I would get the kids out.
- 33:32Speaker 21: I did.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Angie now states online and in interviews that Grant saw
- 33:39Speaker 1: the whole thing happen in the shower, but she said
- 33:42Speaker 1: nothing about him as a witness in order to protect him.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Grant would have been the lion deserved you a lion shower.
- 33:54Speaker 1: This contradicts both her protective order and testimony under oath
- 33:58Speaker 1: to Judge Smith. Both children were in their rooms asleep
- 34:04Speaker 1: and never came out. Grant saw nothing. Angelia has also
- 34:11Speaker 1: taken aim at her immediate family. On the website, Angie
- 34:15Speaker 1: depicts her father, Dan Huffins, as controlling and abusive. She
- 34:20Speaker 1: claims to have been under pressure from him to drop
- 34:23Speaker 1: the protective order against Aaron, and attributes quotes to him
- 34:27Speaker 1: such as a husband can do what he wants to
- 34:30Speaker 1: his wife. Conversely, Judge Smith wrote that mister Huffins was
- 34:35Speaker 1: a very believable person. In his testimony, the ostensibly concerned
- 34:40Speaker 1: father stated, I am going to tell you this because
- 34:43Speaker 1: I love my daughter. She's a compulsive liar. I can
- 34:48Speaker 1: never expect to have a conversation with her unless there's
- 34:51Speaker 1: some untruths that's going to be told, unless something is
- 34:55Speaker 1: going to be stretched. I know my daughter needs psychological help, help.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I know that. It was not only the doctor's father
- 35:07Speaker 1: who testified to this effect, her mother did as well,
- 35:11Speaker 1: But Angelia claimed both parents had ulterior motives. They had
- 35:15Speaker 1: both treated her horribly as a child, and her sister
- 35:18Speaker 1: had been witnessed to the abuse that she suffered. In
- 35:22Speaker 1: response to these allegations, her sister Julie submitted an affidavit
- 35:26Speaker 1: that stated, I am unable to understand why Angie makes
- 35:30Speaker 1: these false statements, but can only attribute it to mental illness.
- 35:35Speaker 1: They had a happy childhood and loving parents. It was
- 35:40Speaker 1: not only family members that contradicted Angie's version of events,
- 35:45Speaker 1: she did herself no favors. When offering her own testimony,
- 35:49Speaker 1: Angie told the judge that she had not been the
- 35:51Speaker 1: source of numerous claims to DCS about Aaron and the children.
- 35:56Speaker 1: The DCS representative at the hearing, as well as the
- 35:59Speaker 1: department's document, showed this to be a lie. Reports about
- 36:04Speaker 1: Aaron to Child Services eventually became so frequent that years
- 36:08Speaker 1: later a court in Williamson County would deem them an
- 36:12Speaker 1: abuse of civil action and bar Angie from bringing any
- 36:16Speaker 1: new claims for a period of six years until Gracie
- 36:20Speaker 1: turned eighteen years old. After hearing from all witnesses, Judge
- 36:25Speaker 1: Smith made his ruling simply stated, Miss Sullivan, I do
- 36:29Speaker 1: not believe you. He also admonished her for a plea
- 36:33Speaker 1: for funds posted on Facebook in which she claimed that
- 36:36Speaker 1: she needed to raise money because her soon to be
- 36:39Speaker 1: ex husband had taken her babies. She said he kidnapped
- 36:44Speaker 1: the children. The post raised nearly four thousand dollars. Judge
- 36:49Speaker 1: Smith asked, why would you tell people he had stolen
- 36:52Speaker 1: your babies? I mean I signed a restraining order, ma'am.
- 36:56Speaker 1: If anybody is to blame, it is me. Leah claimed
- 37:00Speaker 1: that someone had broken into her Facebook account, she had
- 37:04Speaker 1: nothing to do with it. The judge further believed that
- 37:08Speaker 1: she had been finding a means to message her children
- 37:10Speaker 1: in violation of this restraining order on a message still
- 37:15Speaker 1: held on her device sent to Grant's eye touch, she
- 37:18Speaker 1: instructed her son to delete all messages that she sent
- 37:21Speaker 1: to him after reading them. Although the device with that
- 37:26Speaker 1: message was presented to her in court, Angie denied writing it.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Aaron Solomon testified that his greatest concern about agreeing to
- 37:39Speaker 1: even supervise visits between Angie and the kids was about
- 37:43Speaker 1: what she was going to say to them about him,
- 37:46Speaker 1: because she had a serious problem with lying. On the
- 37:50Speaker 1: morning after the shower incident, for example, Angie told the
- 37:54Speaker 1: children over breakfast that their father had left in the
- 37:57Speaker 1: middle of the night to be with another war. At
- 38:01Speaker 1: that stage, he testified it was the worst claim he
- 38:04Speaker 1: had directly heard her say about him. Faced with these contradictions, untruths,
- 38:10Speaker 1: and serious concerns relating to her mental health, Judge Smith concluded,
- 38:15Speaker 1: I am concerned about the safety of these children, even
- 38:19Speaker 1: in a supervised situation. His written decision months later stated
- 38:24Speaker 1: that the Court finds the real issue here is whether
- 38:27Speaker 1: Missus Solomon is dealing in reality. He ordered that Angie
- 38:32Speaker 1: could not see the children until she underwent a psychiatric evaluation.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Doctor Solomon has repeatedly fought back against her husband's claims
- 38:42Speaker 1: that she is mentally unstable. She has admitted to seeking
- 38:45Speaker 1: treatment from more than one psychiatrist, but only to seek
- 38:49Speaker 1: help due to an unhealthy marriage. Angie has claimed that
- 38:54Speaker 1: after the court appointed psychiatrists submitted his report, it was
- 38:58Speaker 1: disregarded by the same judge who ordered it. Angie has
- 39:02Speaker 1: stated that it found her to be a loving, caring,
- 39:05Speaker 1: and capable mother. Her separation from the children was temporary,
- 39:13Speaker 1: visitation was slowly reinstated, and eventually the kids would run
- 39:17Speaker 1: away from their father's care to live with their mother.
- 39:24Speaker 1: In one of several videos posted by Justice for Grant,
- 39:27Speaker 1: Angie explained how she arrived at the cemetery to find
- 39:30Speaker 1: her son's grave cleared of all markers, flowers, baseball memorabilia,
- 39:36Speaker 1: and other items left by mortars. She alleged that Aaron
- 39:41Speaker 1: had wanted the grave to be unmarked. She further accused
- 39:46Speaker 1: him of threatening to move his son to a different
- 39:48Speaker 1: resting place, something that he could do because he had
- 39:51Speaker 1: paid for the plot.
- 39:53Speaker 25: The groundsekeeper was out there and he's my friend, and
- 39:55Speaker 25: so I said, what happened out here? And he said,
- 39:58Speaker 25: mister Solomon came and told me he wanted everything cleared,
- 40:03Speaker 25: and he said, so I did. I cleared it all
- 40:05Speaker 25: off and it's in a box up there in the
- 40:07Speaker 25: at the memorial home.
- 40:09Speaker 8: In the state of Tennessee, by law, if a.
- 40:12Speaker 25: Child is buried, both parents own half, so by law
- 40:16Speaker 25: in the state of Tennessee, that doesn't hold. But in
- 40:18Speaker 25: his mind he believes that he owns Grant and this
- 40:22Speaker 25: spot and he can do with it what he wanted.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Howards was the only one.
- 40:27Speaker 8: That was completely cleared. Days after that. You know, even
- 40:29Speaker 8: the owner said, you know, Aaron wanted it cleared, and
- 40:32Speaker 8: and those good flowers were laying on it.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Then Angie claimed that Aaron had purchased plots for her
- 40:40Speaker 1: and Gracie as well as himself, a move that she
- 40:43Speaker 1: linked to an alleged murder suicide scheme. She feared for
- 40:48Speaker 1: her life.
- 40:50Speaker 19: We were in the counselor's office in September the twenty sixth,
- 40:54Speaker 19: telling him we would never be a family, would never
- 40:56Speaker 19: go back to him, We would never And on October
- 40:59Speaker 19: the sixth, just the next week, he had gone in
- 41:02Speaker 19: and set up the payments for the plots and he
- 41:05Speaker 19: had put my name on plot three in Gracie's own
- 41:09Speaker 19: plot one.
- 41:11Speaker 1: And his own plot four. Pam Stevens was the funeral
- 41:16Speaker 1: director at Williamson Memorial, a local Franklin, Tennessee, funeral home
- 41:21Speaker 1: and cemetery, in July twenty twenty, the day after Grant's death.
- 41:26Speaker 1: She has stated that she assisted Aaron Solomon alongside his
- 41:30Speaker 1: ex wife, who was there with him, to select Grant's
- 41:33Speaker 1: burial plot. At the same time, all family plots were
- 41:37Speaker 1: selected and a deposit was made with Angie's knowledge and approval.
- 41:43Speaker 1: On October sixth, Aaron did return to pay the balance
- 41:46Speaker 1: on the plots and signed the contract as agreed. Pam
- 41:51Speaker 1: has also legally declared that the items were removed from
- 41:54Speaker 1: Grant's grave in order to mow the area. Angie was
- 41:58Speaker 1: notified that this was the case at that time. She
- 42:02Speaker 1: chose to then take the temporary marker from the grave
- 42:06Speaker 1: after Andrew removed it herself. According to Pam's signed affidavit,
- 42:10Speaker 1: the mother began taking pictures of the unmarked plot and
- 42:14Speaker 1: claiming that Aaron was responsible. The white pickup was in
- 42:22Speaker 1: the possession of Aaron Solomon for months after Grant's death.
- 42:26Speaker 1: He had the vehicle written off and it sent to
- 42:28Speaker 1: a scrapyard. According to his ex wife, she was not
- 42:31Speaker 1: informed of these decisions.
- 42:34Speaker 15: That's what I'm saying.
- 42:36Speaker 14: I'm just saying down the road, not really.
- 42:38Speaker 19: Before you saw it.
- 42:40Speaker 4: I know some I don't.
- 42:41Speaker 19: Well, I mean, I know some of the boys are
- 42:43Speaker 19: wanting to see it.
- 42:43Speaker 20: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:46Speaker 1: So let me make a few bush. She eventually tracked
- 42:49Speaker 1: it down and had it submitted for analysis. Portions of
- 42:53Speaker 1: a report from the vehicle's computer have been published by
- 42:57Speaker 1: Justice for Grant.
- 42:58Speaker 24: That black box actual shows that someone was in the
- 43:01Speaker 24: driver's seat, that there was weight in the driver's seat
- 43:04Speaker 24: in the last three seconds the end, that the accelerator
- 43:08Speaker 24: pedal was pushed in and the stream wheel was being
- 43:11Speaker 24: operated and turned sharply to the right, which matches the
- 43:14Speaker 24: tire pattern.
- 43:15Speaker 19: Then was turned, it was placed in park and turned.
- 43:18Speaker 20: Off, and the weight got out of the vehicle.
- 43:20Speaker 24: Grant couldn't have been the one in the last three
- 43:22Speaker 24: seconds to get out because he was under there.
- 43:24Speaker 19: So the black box told us everything. So we have
- 43:28Speaker 19: all of the evidence. We just don't have an open event.
- 43:33Speaker 1: If the report is to be believed. The data revealed
- 43:36Speaker 1: a driver was accelerating before the truck made impact with
- 43:39Speaker 1: the ditch, The driver's side seatbelt was fastened, and both
- 43:43Speaker 1: acceleration and brake were used in maneuvering the vehicle. The
- 43:48Speaker 1: data as published suggests that someone was purposefully navigating the
- 43:52Speaker 1: truck when it struck Grant Sulimon. It's unclear if this
- 43:57Speaker 1: report was part of the information put in front of
- 43:59Speaker 1: it ad A. Blanton and the gallad In Police when
- 44:02Speaker 1: they reopened the case in twenty twenty one. In March
- 44:08Speaker 1: twenty twenty one, Assistant District Attorney Ronald Blanton wrote a
- 44:12Speaker 1: letter to doctor Solomon's attorney regarding the conclusion of the
- 44:16Speaker 1: second investigation into the death of Grant Solomon assertions from
- 44:22Speaker 1: Freedom for Gracie and Justice for Grant omit reference to
- 44:26Speaker 1: the reopening of the investigation ADA. Blanton wrote that the
- 44:30Speaker 1: case was reopened upon Angelia Solomon's request and aided by
- 44:35Speaker 1: the newly sourced materials and potential evidence that she had acquired.
- 44:40Speaker 1: The details that the ADA provides in the letter, however,
- 44:43Speaker 1: are very limited. He wrote only that the new information
- 44:47Speaker 1: was compared to the original case file, that the investigators
- 44:50Speaker 1: from twenty twenty had been interviewed, and that the investigation
- 44:55Speaker 1: had been thorough there is no mention of an exhumation
- 44:58Speaker 1: for an autopsy, crime scene reconstruction, no forensic evaluation of
- 45:03Speaker 1: the pickup truck. Ronald Blanton concluded that it was a
- 45:07Speaker 1: horrible accident, but the state of Tennessee declines to pursue
- 45:11Speaker 1: criminal charges in this matter based on a lack of evidence.
- 45:16Speaker 26: I know there is a lot of community concerned about
- 45:18Speaker 26: that case. It is a tragic case, and I think
- 45:22Speaker 26: it is right that it has received significant attention from
- 45:25Speaker 26: both both investigators and prosecutors. I also understand that in
- 45:30Speaker 26: some circumstances there simply is not the evidence to proceed
- 45:36Speaker 26: with the case, and we may never know exactly what happened.
- 45:40Speaker 26: But I am confident, based on my conversation with the
- 45:42Speaker 26: director of the DA's conference, who got personally involved in
- 45:46Speaker 26: this and expended significant amount of his own time in
- 45:49Speaker 26: a way that he does not for virtually any other
- 45:51Speaker 26: case in this state, that this is a case that
- 45:53Speaker 26: receives substantial attention, and that to the extent that prosecutorial
- 45:57Speaker 26: resources could be deployed, they were deployed, and that this
- 46:01Speaker 26: case received a thorough investigation.
- 46:04Speaker 20: Before Grant left that morning, he stopped in the door
- 46:07Speaker 20: and said something.
- 46:08Speaker 1: That saw had a character.
- 46:10Speaker 20: But he said, Mom, I don't want to die Galati today.
- 46:15Speaker 20: If I beg completed not to go, or I would
- 46:18Speaker 20: go with him. Let me see the parking lot. I
- 46:20Speaker 20: thought it was even talk about his lungs from where
- 46:22Speaker 20: it had COVID.
- 46:23Speaker 1: He was getting over it.
- 46:24Speaker 20: We were having to have X rays and see doctors.
- 46:27Speaker 20: I didn't want to be a helicopter mom, but I
- 46:29Speaker 20: just thought it might just be there. He said, no, Mama,
- 46:32Speaker 20: you're not gone. An hour later I got a phone call.
- 46:36Speaker 1: The grant was Danny Caltain. Aaron Sulimon's defamation claim is
- 46:42Speaker 1: still pending in Tennessee courts of the accusation that he
- 46:46Speaker 1: murdered his son. The lawsuit points out that the accident
- 46:49Speaker 1: occurred in broad daylight during regular business hours, just feet
- 46:53Speaker 1: away from an open and operational business and in clear
- 46:56Speaker 1: view of a busy road. Barn asserts that the false
- 47:01Speaker 1: claims are being made in part as a means to
- 47:04Speaker 1: solicit money. Two GoFundMe pages are currently connected to the
- 47:08Speaker 1: Freedom for Gracie and Justice for Grant social media accounts.
- 47:13Speaker 1: One seeks funds to pursue evidence for the alleged murder
- 47:17Speaker 1: in order to independently and properly investigate Grant's death. It
- 47:22Speaker 1: has raised just over one hundred and thirty thousand dollars.
- 47:27Speaker 1: The second is a legal fund for Gracie, who, according
- 47:30Speaker 1: to the account, has hired her own legal counsel at
- 47:33Speaker 1: the age of sixteen to pursue charges against her father.
- 47:37Speaker 1: That account has raised almost forty thousand dollars. The latest
- 47:43Speaker 1: shocking development in the case was published by The Daily
- 47:46Speaker 1: Mail in mid April twenty twenty four. Doctor Solomon told
- 47:50Speaker 1: the paper that back in twenty twenty she discovered that
- 47:53Speaker 1: the Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, under the control of Pam Stevens,
- 47:58Speaker 1: had broken her son's ankles in order to place him
- 48:01Speaker 1: in a smaller coffin. She claimed to have seen this
- 48:04Speaker 1: herself at a visitation, though no one else who was
- 48:07Speaker 1: present at that visit has reported also viewing this horrific development.
- 48:13Speaker 1: The Tennessee Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers overheard the complaint.
- 48:18Speaker 1: The board told the publication that there was no evidence
- 48:22Speaker 1: other than the mother's recollection. To date, the death investigation
- 48:27Speaker 1: has not been reopened for a third time. District Attorney
- 48:31Speaker 1: Lawrence Whitley has stood by previous statements from his office
- 48:35Speaker 1: clarifying that the case has been examined more than once,
- 48:39Speaker 1: though he offers no further detail on what evidence was considered.
- 48:44Speaker 1: He did add I prosecute anything that is feasible to prosecute,
- 48:48Speaker 1: but this is not This was a parking lot accident.
- 48:54Speaker 1: A petition on change dot org calling for the case
- 48:57Speaker 1: to be reopened has garnered over three hund in twenty
- 49:00Speaker 1: five thousand signatures. Last year, Gracie was again removed from
- 49:07Speaker 1: her mother's custody and place under DCS care. In June
- 49:14Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, Grant Solomon would have turned twenty two
- 49:19Speaker 1: years old. That was the tragic case of Grant Solomon
- 49:50Speaker 1: and his family. Thank you so much for watching and
- 49:53Speaker 1: supporting us here at JTL, and a special thanks to
- 49:57Speaker 1: those in the members lounge. Your extra support is really
- 50:00Speaker 1: appreciate it. I'm Kevin, this is just thought lounge, and
- 50:04Speaker 1: I'll see in the next one.
- 50:06Speaker 7: When the scene plays, tell me who the screen saves.
- 50:08Speaker 7: I can hear the crimes repeat. Gotta take my time
- 50:10Speaker 7: because these crimes get deep, but these stories can't hide.
- 50:13Speaker 7: Let me find my seat, Kevin, go ahead and settle
- 50:15Speaker 7: in gotta be selective, doing all the research, keeping it objective,
- 50:19Speaker 7: always being effective. Cauld say, he got a neck, pick
- 50:21Speaker 7: it a litter. You see how Newton got his back. Yeah,
- 50:24Speaker 7: the content that you need. This could be a new sign.
- 50:26Speaker 7: We're talking in the comments that
