Latest / The Lunch Rush with Trent Condon / Cubs fall, Rookie of the Year Odds, Kentucky Derby thoughts, Joe O'Donnell on the Wild & Stanley Cup Playoffs
Transcript
- 0:12Hi, good afternoon. Welcome Miller and Condon On a
- 0:15Tuesday, the Iowa Sports Radio Network back at it for the next
- 0:19block of 6 hour programming. Trent Condon, myself, Ken
- 0:22Miller, we'll start things off and take you until just before
- 0:252:00. After that, off the bench come
- 0:29Sean Roberts and Lucas train until 5, overtime Iowa 5 until
- 0:326. That's what's coming up in the
- 0:34next couple of hours. If you're an NHL fan, if you
- 0:37like Stanley Club playoffs, if you're a fan of the Wild or the
- 0:39Stars, we will take take a long look at that series as it's all
- 0:44knotted up at 2 apiece with the radio voice of the Minnesota
- 0:47Wild. Joe O'Donnell will join us from
- 0:49Dallas just after they're getting off the bus.
- 0:52I don't know if they're coming back from the morning skate,
- 0:54which I assumed that they would be doing, but we'll talk to Joe
- 0:57O'Donnell. They being the Wild from Dallas
- 0:59coming up here 12/30, 12:35, depending on traffic.
- 1:04So Joe O'Donnell will join us. We're going to play his
- 1:07game-winning call from the other night as well as he called the
- 1:09overtime goal. Matt Boldy thought it was a
- 1:11pretty good call and Joe O'Donnell having a great, great
- 1:14time calling hockey and living a dream and happy for him.
- 1:18He's a good guy. Of course, he was here in Des
- 1:19Moines for years as the voice of the Iowa Wild before he too got
- 1:24the call up in our number 2. We're going to take a look back
- 1:28at the NFL Draft with Vinny Iyer who covers it for The Sporting
- 1:31News. We'll get Vinny's thoughts on
- 1:33what teams he thought did well, what teams were swung and
- 1:37missed, just some of his thoughts on the three day NFL
- 1:41draft that took place this past weekend.
- 1:43Look forward to catching up with Vinny on that.
- 1:45Maybe some other topics as well. And then finally, Sloane Pyva
- 1:50will join us. He's our NBA kind of our go to
- 1:52guy from Athlon Sports and we'll take take the temperature of the
- 1:57NBA and where we're at here. Orlando wins again last night.
- 2:01You had Orlando nice pick on the magic last night, but departo
- 2:06when the NBA waters is Denver smacked the T wolves around
- 2:11pretty good last night. Could see that one coming.
- 2:13And and it's so important as to what line you get and when you
- 2:16get it, because there were 12 and a halfs out there.
- 2:18That's a loser. There were 11 and a halfs out
- 2:20there. That's a winner, depending where
- 2:23you shopped and what number you got, what side obviously you
- 2:25were on. If you had the T Wolves and took
- 2:27the 11 1/2, good for you. If you took 12 1/2, well, not so
- 2:31good. Anyways, how did you do with
- 2:34your plays last night? We pushed four and four.
- 2:38Pretty boring night overall. Was waiting to the end.
- 2:41We got Joker under on the rebounds, assists and Jamal
- 2:43Murray had an assist that it was inside the Joker.
- 2:46It put him over to seven. It was 6 1/2 was the number.
- 2:50I thought that thing was going to fall off the rim as he was
- 2:52followed going up and it just rolls in and there's the assist
- 2:55that pushes it over the over late in the game in that one to
- 2:59get us away from a winning night.
- 3:00But overall, fun night of sports kind of different.
- 3:03Yeah, it was good, I thought. Cubs.
- 3:05Bullpen stinks. Yep, they did last night.
- 3:07Last night, boy. Steros behind the plate, Yes,
- 3:09his first. His first opportunity to catch
- 3:12this year in the majors, and apparently there's going to be
- 3:14more of this. Yeah, what did you?
- 3:15I think, you know, other than the, we challenged a pitch that
- 3:19was clearly a ball and it was their second challenge.
- 3:21They'd lost one early. So they are out of challenges
- 3:24after middle of the third inning.
- 3:27But other than that, I didn't think it was bad by any means.
- 3:30I'm I'm anxious to see I don't know how many times he's going
- 3:33to get the opportunity to catch, but good God, I mean, you saw
- 3:36the Grand Slam. This guy, this guy's bat is
- 3:39absolutely MLB legit. And you know, Sal Stewart's
- 3:44still the favorite. What what is bought by his
- 3:46stairs today to win the rookie of the year.
- 3:48He was 12 to one yesterday. I'm wondering if the Grand Slam
- 3:51moved those numbers anywhere and the fact that, you know, longer,
- 3:55no longer is he kind of button holed as ADH against
- 4:01right-handed batters only. A, if they're going to hit him,
- 4:04hit lefties and B, you're going to actually use him behind the
- 4:08plate. That maybe increases his value
- 4:10there. And I'm saying this in Full
- 4:12disclosure, I've got him at 30 and one.
- 4:16So I'm going to obviously, you know, maybe pay a little bit
- 4:19closer attention to this. But look, the Cubs move the
- 4:21needles here and buy steroids as a hit machine.
- 4:24That guy can swing and you know that and we talking about like
- 4:2815 games behind the plate this year, if that's.
- 4:30Probably, I would say. Something like that and then the
- 4:33DA. Cuz Amaya is the guy.
- 4:34Now, I asked this to Kathy last week.
- 4:37You got to give him some opportunities though against
- 4:40lefties. Without a doubt, it can't be.
- 4:42He's too talented to just be a strict platoon guy.
- 4:46I get early in his career setting him up for success.
- 4:49I understand that. But some playoff time, oh,
- 4:52sorry, we got a tough lefty out there.
- 4:54We're not going to have her bias tariffs out there.
- 4:56Like you just can't, right? He's too good, too talented.
- 4:59You've got to start to get him a bats and I think that will
- 5:01happen. That's not a negative at this
- 5:03point. Looking at the Padres last night
- 5:06though, and I didn't see a ton of it, but he didn't look out of
- 5:09place. No, I didn't think so.
- 5:10I didn't think so at all. Not one bit.
- 5:12Boyd wasn't great and maybe that's something you point to.
- 5:15Well, new catcher. The other thing you mentioned
- 5:17the challenge and I did see that and I do wonder how many pitches
- 5:21is he actually tracking? Like how many times has he been
- 5:24working behind the plate? I'm sure some, but.
- 5:28Right, but not with that tool at his disposal.
- 5:31And with guys full throttle in a game, all the movement, all the
- 5:36speed, like all that part of it, it was just something that kind
- 5:38of lingered in my mind last night when I saw that.
- 5:40Like, I really can't kill him. I don't know how many balls he's
- 5:43actually tracked and knowing the strike zone from back there as
- 5:46opposed to being at the plate because he just hasn't done it
- 5:48very often. But overall, that is a good
- 5:50thing. You have that guy now it's about
- 5:53finding some health because. The pitching stuff is, I mean,
- 5:56it's, it's, it's almost laughable, right?
- 5:58Because if you don't like I mean, it's just awful the the
- 6:01number of injuries and to the pitcher both and and here as
- 6:06pointed out yesterday, Matt Snyder pointed out yesterday
- 6:08reminded us how many guys are hurt in Iowa.
- 6:12So it's we'll we'll see where it goes.
- 6:14It's going to be a heck of a race.
- 6:16The Cubs are by no no way shape or form as since to win this
- 6:21division. They just aren't now if health
- 6:24if they were healthy, maybe that's another story.
- 6:26There was a manager fired this morning, Rob Thompson walk the
- 6:30plank in Philadelphia. We talk about the Mets in their
- 6:32underachieving start. The Phillies had the exact same
- 6:35record as the Mets. Mets have decided to stick with
- 6:38Mendoza, so within the last four days is 3 or 4 days.
- 6:43Anyways. We're not even at the end of
- 6:44April. We've already had two managers
- 6:46fired right in Cora with Boston, who their team is
- 6:50underachieving. A lot of folks like the Red Sox
- 6:52and the American League East this year and the Phillies were
- 6:54going to be a major, major threat to win the National
- 6:58League East. Well, they're off to a terrible
- 7:00start. Don Mattingly and his kids, the
- 7:03GM, did you know that? No, I didn't.
- 7:05Either yes, until this morning. I didn't either.
- 7:08That was news to me. All right.
- 7:10First ever Father, son, manager, GM.
- 7:13Interesting Alex Cora was offered the job.
- 7:14He was very quick. I'm not surprised.
- 7:16No, not at all. Got a World Series ring, you
- 7:19know, he's very well respected in the game, but says, you know,
- 7:22he's just going to take the take the euro.
- 7:24And and I had to on one hand, I mean, this is the Phillies.
- 7:27This is a pretty good ballclub. And this isn't like a, you know,
- 7:31every 10 years they pop up and make a find their way into the
- 7:34wild card, right? This is a good ballclub and A
- 7:37and a fan base that wants Philadelphia.
- 7:39They're passionate about their sports teams with without a
- 7:42shadow of a doubt. So that's the baseball from last
- 7:44night. You're twins.
- 7:46You got it done. Twins in a big way.
- 7:48Yes, swung it well again. Castillo looks cooked.
- 7:52He does doesn't. He.
- 7:54Been around a long time. It has not gone well throughout
- 7:56the course of the season. This isn't just a blip on the
- 7:58radar. This has been continuously now.
- 8:01I was looking at his game log before last night and he gave
- 8:04up. Seven earned last night as many.
- 8:07Have one good start recently. He did.
- 8:10He gave up one earned run. He gave up four runs also in
- 8:13that. Game.
- 8:13Oh, did he? He did.
- 8:14So you can, well, OK, there was errors behind him still.
- 8:19It looks like that we are trending towards the back end
- 8:21for Luis Castillo. Still only 33 though.
- 8:23I was a bit surprised by that too.
- 8:25I was going through it last night.
- 8:26But the twins going to win. Look, they're going to be not
- 8:28competitive. They're not going to be chasing
- 8:30anything this year. It's going to be decisions.
- 8:32What do you do with Joe Ryan, Byron Buxton, what kind of hall
- 8:36you could get if he makes the decision that he wants to move
- 8:38on? So that's really what it's going
- 8:40to be here because we got wild tonight.
- 8:43He will steal a game away. Unbelievable.
- 8:46And, of course, the Vikings. Yeah, let's see where this goes
- 8:50with with Minnesota Brendan Soarsbeat, right?
- 8:52I'm starting to believe that he'll never, ever play a a snap
- 8:57for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. I'm starting to feel like that
- 9:02and it and it goes back and and I want to pass me the tinfoil
- 9:05hat. OK, here you go.
- 9:07So. We should get 2 he.
- 9:09Should yeah, instead of passing it back and forth.
- 9:12So yesterday it came out that that Brendan Sarsby, obviously
- 9:18he's in, he's in rehab. And I'm, I'm not making fun of
- 9:22the circumstances. This, this seemingly is an
- 9:24addiction when it comes to Sarsby.
- 9:27But I was kind of taken aback by how the information was able to
- 9:34be put forth when it comes to him actually going to Cincinnati
- 9:41Reds games and betting every pitch.
- 9:44That tells me they're trying to they're trying to, you know,
- 9:48this guy's really sick. This guy's, you know, have some
- 9:50sympathy for him. NCAA, he's really got a problem.
- 9:54And and if obviously, if he's doing that, he clearly does.
- 9:58I mean, you're sitting at a Reds game and you're betting ball
- 10:01strike every single pitch that comes.
- 10:04So I just wonder if they were trying to maybe play the
- 10:07sympathy card when it comes to Soresby.
- 10:10Like, let's have a little compassion for this young man.
- 10:13He's he's got a he's got a sickness right now.
- 10:15And and apparently he does. But I, I, I was surprised we got
- 10:19that little nugget of information.
- 10:20Yeah. Absolutely.
- 10:22I think you're where you started.
- 10:23The conversation is absolutely right.
- 10:25He's not going to play a Texas Tech.
- 10:26Because if you bet on your team, yeah, it's it's black and white,
- 10:29I think. And we have been steadfast going
- 10:31back to the Iowa and Iowa State thing.
- 10:33By the way, how did Dan Wetzel not include that in his piece?
- 10:35Did you see that I did the first major gambling scandal to hit
- 10:39and see to hit the hit college football.
- 10:42Happened. No, it didn't.
- 10:43No, absolutely not. And then he comes.
- 10:45So I didn't see if there'd been a a retraction or an edit to his
- 10:51original piece, but he did put the Iowa story in there.
- 10:55But then he went on to throw a little, I don't know, throw a
- 10:57little dirt on the I when Iowa State.
- 11:00But this is Soresby we're talking about here.
- 11:02Excuse me, 100 Deckers was going to be the starting quarterback
- 11:05for Iowa State, right? Yes.
- 11:08A team that had some expectations.
- 11:09Absolutely. Iowa lost a couple of pretty big
- 11:12pieces in their own right. Iowa State lost a running back
- 11:15in Jairal Brock, a good one, a good one.
- 11:17They so anyways, do a little homework.
- 11:21That wasn't the first one And and Sarsby is a blast.
- 11:23He was a first round pick. You know what I didn't check
- 11:27yesterday? Who's got Heisman odds out?
- 11:30Oh, absolutely. Does DraftKings have them?
- 11:32They do, yeah. Is he still listed?
- 11:35Speaking of, I did not see awards at DraftKings.
- 11:37I did see a FanDuel for your rookie the year question.
- 11:39Oh yeah, and it was he up still. By esteros is down 2 + 550 there
- 11:44is he perfectly Sal Stewart plus 135 don't win McLean in between
- 11:47them at plus 350 in the American League Marikami plus 155 as he
- 11:53does it again last night it's. Unbelievable for them.
- 11:55Yes, and I'm not sure if there's many other options.
- 11:58What do you think of the Akamoto Kid for your Blue Jays?
- 12:04Okay, he's 27 to 1. Is he?
- 12:0727 to 1. He's okay.
- 12:09It didn't. I didn't see no winking over
- 12:12there anything. But I had Bob Bouchet.
- 12:13Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 12:15Understand that most definitely I think source me the career is
- 12:18over at the collegiate level and.
- 12:21So what does Texas Tech do? There's no transfer portal.
- 12:23Well, what are their player quarterbacks from a year ago?
- 12:26Will Hammond Yes. Will Hammond is getting healthy,
- 12:28right and will be potentially ready by August camp.
- 12:31That's Will Hammond. That's all you could do because.
- 12:34Potentially. With the ghost trains for rule,
- 12:37if you go out you get a guy A. Major penalty.
- 12:41That means that what the head coach has to sit out 50% of the
- 12:45season, the player has to sit out 30.
- 12:48Percent of the season. And if you don't know, ghost
- 12:51transfer, so this is a new thing.
- 12:53This is what the Lucas kid right from that went from Wisconsin to
- 12:57Miami. He did not enter the portal.
- 13:00He just left because Wisconsin wasn't going to let him out.
- 13:02And this was the direction that they went.
- 13:04You you can still do that, but there are major ramifications.
- 13:09You also have to prove that there is not tampering involved
- 13:11in order for that to happen. Yes, you can enroll in another
- 13:13school. You can still do that, but
- 13:15you're going to sit out as a player 30% of the year and the
- 13:18do. They get to pick the games.
- 13:19I'm guessing it's non con, non con, non con.
- 13:21I think it's just the beginning of the season, first three games
- 13:23of the year. That's.
- 13:25Unfortunate that's a farce of its own right, too.
- 13:27Yeah, I agree. I agree.
- 13:28Get to pick the games. Sisters of the Poor, right?
- 13:31No, we'll see. We'll see where that goes.
- 13:34But man, I'm starting to they're they're and that's $5,000,000.
- 13:37So will they have to pay him? That's a.
- 13:40Cody came, right? Yeah.
- 13:42And I'm guessing he's got some pretty good attorneys on his
- 13:45side. Here's the baseball, Betty.
- 13:46What's on your mind? Well, maybe Soresby was.
- 13:50Maybe it was a Red Indians game and Class A was keeping them
- 13:53off. Yeah, good one, Betty, Good one.
- 13:57Bought a bank? No, but how about the start the
- 14:02Braves have gotten off to even with a Cunha not doing anything
- 14:05and Riley not really doing anything yet they still have the
- 14:08best run differential in baseball.
- 14:11And yeah, the Dodgers are still sure been held a beat.
- 14:14But the Braves have gotten off to a good start and really all
- 14:17they have at the front end of the rotation of Strider, they
- 14:19now are giving not going to pitch Strider.
- 14:23And in Colorado this weekend, they're going to give him more
- 14:26rehab start instead of having him pitch in the friendly
- 14:29confines of Coors Field. So his first start is
- 14:33tentatively scheduled for next week.
- 14:35Now against the Dodgers, I don't know.
- 14:37Do you want to pitch against the Dodgers or do you want to pitch?
- 14:40Colorado, I'd rather pitch, although the Rockies are red hot
- 14:43as they sweep the Mets. All right, never, never mind,
- 14:46never mind that. What?
- 14:47So who's going to win the Derby? I don't know, I I like the one
- 14:52that was it been 50 years since the one holds. 1/19/1986 But
- 14:57it's different circumstances with the old gate in the new
- 14:59day. I'm hearing some bad things
- 15:01about him, Betty. I'm hearing some very
- 15:03questionable health, potential health issues when it comes to
- 15:071/4 crack in his hoof which may prevent him from running.
- 15:10So pay attention. To that I like, I like Puma as a
- 15:14as a oh. By the way, did you do you know
- 15:16who bought that horse yesterday or bought a piece of that horse
- 15:19yesterday? So Puma was going to be probably
- 15:23the third or fourth choice, maybe 8:00 to 1:00 or so.
- 15:27Puma's about to become the favorite in the Kentucky Derby.
- 15:30And who could who? Who within who within their
- 15:34powers has that much behind them to change the fortunes of a of a
- 15:39Kentucky Derby betting pool? Probably the guy that.
- 15:44No, it's a woman. It's a, it's a woman.
- 15:46It's a woman. Who's the who's the most famous
- 15:50woman in the world right now? Taylor Swift.
- 15:54She bought the Puma, She's got a Kentucky Derby horse.
- 15:59Her and Travis Kelsey bought the Puma.
- 16:02Puma is going to be the favorite in the race, which I love
- 16:05because all those Swifties are going to bet.
- 16:08And that frustrates me because I thought I was going to get them
- 16:11at 10 or 12. You're going to get them at 3:00
- 16:13or 4:00 to 1:00. Choice.
- 16:14That's that's brutal. That's just, you know, yeah,
- 16:19'cause you're going to get your casual $2.00.
- 16:21Yeah, they're going to just all bet.
- 16:23Oh, I had a Swifty ticket and then not cash the Dang thing.
- 16:27Well, they're not going to get a an opportunity to cash in any
- 16:29ways because emerging markets going to win the race.
- 16:32Betty, we'll see you later. Have a good one.
- 16:34See you bud. Emerging market the 15 yes.
- 16:39Chad Brown Yep. And.
- 16:41Flavian Pratt. Flavian Pratt.
- 16:44All right, who are the jockey jockeys I need to know?
- 16:47Pratt. Pratt.
- 16:48I rat Ortiz. Those are the two best in the
- 16:50world. OK, Ortiz is on the one
- 16:52renegade. He's the favorite.
- 16:55He drew the one post. It's kiss a death.
- 16:58It it is now. It's not as bad as it used to
- 17:00be, but it's still really bad because you've got nineteen
- 17:03horses on. You're outside as you try and
- 17:05navigate a trip. It's a long stretch before the
- 17:08first turn, but it's still really unfortunate where he
- 17:11drew. And as a guy who doesn't bet the
- 17:13favorites, I love where he drew because it's it's going to be
- 17:16almost impossible. I think if he wins, tip your
- 17:19cap, tip your cap. It's a, it would be a great ride
- 17:22to navigate your way through all of that traffic trouble.
- 17:25But B are clearly the best horse and the best horse won the race.
- 17:29I won't bet him. I I never bet the favorites.
- 17:31Never. I like emerging market.
- 17:33I like the horse on the outside, full effort.
- 17:35He's 20 to 1. And there's another Dannon
- 17:39bourbon. He's a Japanese horse.
- 17:41OK. We've talked about this often
- 17:43the year these last few years. And Japanese horses are making
- 17:46huge impact. They haven't won the Derby yet.
- 17:48The only thing that worries me about this is obviously when you
- 17:52run a race in North America, you're running counterclockwise,
- 17:55and you run a race in Japan you're running clockwise.
- 17:57Really. Yes.
- 17:58I don't remember ever hearing that.
- 18:00A lot of tracks. He's in Europe and a lot and
- 18:02certainly outside of North America do run that way.
- 18:07But I think he's really talented and he's, I shop for prices.
- 18:10Shop for prices. By the way, the race goes off at
- 18:136:00. I'll be at Prairie Meadows.
- 18:16We're going to run we as I'm part of Prairie Meadows.
- 18:19And you're happy about? That I'm full circle, Yeah, full
- 18:22circle. We're going to run a race maybe
- 18:252 prior to the Derby, then stop, and then we're going to come
- 18:28back and run a couple more races.
- 18:29There's not going to be a lot of races on Saturday night, but
- 18:31we're going to have some live racing.
- 18:33If you're out there, come up and say hey to me, I'll be on the
- 18:354th floor. The Derby goes just about 6:00,
- 18:39our first live race at 5:00. So looking through the list and
- 18:42going through really for the first time took a peek.
- 18:45Is our guy going to come on from the Philadelphia?
- 18:47Yes, yes, we're going to get him potentially tomorrow or
- 18:50Thursday. We'll get him on.
- 18:53Is Bob Baffert now? Was back last?
- 18:55Year last year and he's got 2 long shots in.
- 18:58Here 2 long shots. I mean is it worth at least a
- 19:00gander or a little bit diving in or is has the?
- 19:04I don't start. Past about that, well.
- 19:06This year it goes in cyclical. I always see Pletcher too.
- 19:10Definitely. Pletcher's got, he's got the
- 19:12favorite Renegade, he's got the favorite Renegade.
- 19:16I like emerging market, I like full effort and I like Dan and
- 19:19bourbon. Those are my 3 long shots.
- 19:21I'm going to tie them up. And my partner, Mr. Executive
- 19:25Leon, we're going to fire at it as we always do.
- 19:29Some we'll get Some years are better than others.
- 19:31And the Oaks on Friday. But you don't get.
- 19:34I know. But you know what this it's,
- 19:35it's going to be run at night. Oh, really?
- 19:38830 I think 830 our time. Oh yeah, I see that right now,
- 19:41840. 840, They've never run it night before, yeah.
- 19:45That's usually normal middle of the afternoon.
- 19:47I the afternoon you got a name and I'm I'm open up the app real
- 19:50quick and try to get something in there right as they're
- 19:52getting ready to race there. Is that good thing or is it just
- 19:55going to lead to more debauchery and I?
- 19:57Don't know about debauchery, but I I it's going to lead to I
- 20:02don't think the people that are. Look, if you'll have 120,000
- 20:06people that are on Friday and get ready for 175,000 people the
- 20:11next day, that's a pretty quick turn around A.
- 20:15Lot of clean up dude. A lot.
- 20:16Of clean up and get ready to to to open it up again if you've
- 20:20never been and you want to go it truly is worth it now it's
- 20:23unbelievably expensive. It's it's priced itself way out
- 20:27of the common man's budget. It really has.
- 20:30It didn't used to be the case. I mean, you can still afford to
- 20:33get into the infield, but if you're a 20 something, that's
- 20:36where you want to be. You want to be in the infield
- 20:39drinking. It's a huge party.
- 20:41Won't see much of the race, but who cares, right?
- 20:45You're you're there just for the experience.
- 20:47But it really is a a slice of Americana.
- 20:52It's first Saturday in May. It's the world's most famous
- 20:54horse race. They call it that for a reason.
- 20:56I wanted to also pose to you, I sent this article to you and I
- 21:00know something that you know very well.
- 21:01Dan Wilkin over at Yahoo had an article talking about how
- 21:05algorithms are changing horse betting and outraging gamblers
- 21:08in the. Computer assisted wagering.
- 21:10So help me out here what this kind of all means and what it
- 21:13means to everyday joes, even the baseball bennies that like to
- 21:16bet but they're not putting down thousands of dollars.
- 21:19What this means to most of our listeners that want to even bet
- 21:22on the. Well, I don't think it'll infect
- 21:24the Derby because the pools are so big.
- 21:26But but what it does do is so when you make a bet, say at
- 21:30Prairie Meadows on a race, it, well, I'll just, I'll just
- 21:32choose Churchill Downs. Your bet gets placed at Prairie
- 21:37Meadows and then it's got to go through.
- 21:38It's all electronics and pretty quickly it transfers in there.
- 21:42But it's, it's just it, there's a couple of stops before it gets
- 21:45into the betting pool. So the race, when the race, when
- 21:48the starting gate opens, the betting shuts off, right?
- 21:51Betting shuts off. The algorithm right up until
- 21:54before that shuts off, tries to find a vulnerability in the
- 21:58market. Now, I don't know the actual
- 22:00algorithms, but what pisses betters off is they'll bet a
- 22:04horse that when the gate opens, and if they put him up on the
- 22:08board and he's in front and #4 he's 12 to one.
- 22:11Well, as the horses get closer to the turn, all of a sudden he
- 22:13drops to 6:00 to 1:00, right? Oh, what are they doing?
- 22:17How are they fixing this, This is rigged, blah blah blah.
- 22:21Sure. No, it just takes time for it to
- 22:23cycle into the pool. And these people aren't betting,
- 22:27aren't handicapping a race, they're handicapping what they
- 22:29think are vulnerabilities in the pools.
- 22:33They call it cause computer assisted wagering and it's like
- 22:38probably half of a track's handle.
- 22:40It's a huge amount of money and every dollar that's bet, some of
- 22:45that goes to the purses that these horses race for.
- 22:48But betters don't like it, and tracks are starting to, you
- 22:52know, realize that, that we better find another way to make
- 22:55some money now. Prairie Meadows did that a long
- 22:56time ago, in 1995 when they opened up a racino, the first
- 23:00one in the country to do so. What a time that was.
- 23:04What a time. I can imagine that'll be a fun
- 23:06story time here coming up here in the next couple of months.
- 23:08Yeah, absolutely. I want to go through that one a
- 23:10little bit. I want to play Prairie Meadows
- 23:12most famous race at some .0. Absolutely know that one well.
- 23:16November 5th, 1989. Remember it like yesterday?
- 23:19I do absolutely. All right, we'll take a time
- 23:21out. We'll come back and talk to Joe
- 23:26O'Donnell now. We're probably going to be a
- 23:28couple of minutes before we get to Joe because Joe would like I
- 23:30say he's on a bus. They're coming back from from
- 23:33the morning skate. This is such a great series,
- 23:35Trent. This is a pivotal, pivotal Game
- 23:385 tonight. Game six will be, I want to say,
- 23:41Thursday night back in Saint Paul.
- 23:43What do they call that? The Grand Casino.
- 23:45The Grand Casino? Is that what it is?
- 23:47I think it is. Do you know where that is?
- 23:49Is that in Saint Paul? The Grand Casino I.
- 23:51Don't know, I don't think unless.
- 23:53I don't think they do either. Now the one in that's not,
- 23:58that's not Grand Casino, I don't think.
- 24:01Grand casino Hinckley. OK, that's Minnesota.
- 24:05That is, where's Hinckley? Don't know, but they sponsored
- 24:08the name. They bought the naming rights
- 24:10for the arena. It's on the water.
- 24:12Oh, it's up there. It's way up there.
- 24:14It's up, up, up there it is. Like Canadian border up there?
- 24:19No, not that far, but it is up past.
- 24:22I mean, it's in between Minneapolis and Duluth, is that
- 24:25right? Or in Casino Hinckley, that's
- 24:28what it says. Spend some money.
- 24:30Yeah. See Paul.
- 24:31Maybe not a lot of opportunities in Hinckley to advertise.
- 24:34I guess. Maybe you've got that market
- 24:36already. Now we do have one other local
- 24:38note from that just happened right before we went on the air.
- 24:41OK, the Iowa women did get another commitment.
- 24:43They are up to now nine players on their roster.
- 24:46Joslyn Faison, who was also at Georgia, is that connection
- 24:50continues. She was top 100 player out of
- 24:52high school, just played a little bit this year during her
- 24:54freshman year. A six one guard though, pretty
- 24:56good athlete. Got some work to do offensively,
- 24:59but that's your ninth player. It's pretty good.
- 25:02I said at the beginning of this process I was not concerned
- 25:04about Jan Jensen going out there and finding I didn't think it
- 25:08was going to be the number three player in the portal and Danny
- 25:11Carnegie, but they were going to find a couple of good players.
- 25:13That wasn't a problem. They found a real good one.
- 25:15Her and Whiting, I mean that's that's really nice.
- 25:18I and I didn't think that that was going to be an issue.
- 25:20It's these spots. We don't have much playing time
- 25:23for you. We got a ton of players coming
- 25:24back. Getting 910-1112 maybe is what
- 25:28you want to go roster wise, fighting those players that are
- 25:31willing to come in. We don't got a lot of money for
- 25:34you. You're probably going to have to
- 25:35take the minimum What? Is the minimum.
- 25:38Any idea? For would you make 75?
- 25:41Is that too high maybe? Yeah, that's, I think that's a
- 25:44fair maybe a little bit lower. OK, what?
- 25:47What would the minimum be on Mccollum's?
- 25:48Roster probably 150. Would it be that much?
- 25:52I think so. Good for them, absolutely.
- 25:55I mean football just three years ago now I think the was like 50
- 25:59and that is definitely bumped up.
- 26:02Well, I ever get my wish that there's a a clearing house where
- 26:05we can go and find out how much everybody's making.
- 26:07Probably not. Probably not until it's
- 26:09unionized and until they become athletes.
- 26:11That will be the time we get that.
- 26:13I'd love to know what source be going to do.
- 26:15Are they going to fight him for that $5,000,000?
- 26:17Is there a clause in his contract?
- 26:19Apparently goes back to last year's.
- 26:21Cincinnati was aware he's got a gambling problem.
- 26:24They let him play. They let him play.
- 26:27I, I honest to God, I'm convinced that that little
- 26:29nugget of how sick he is and if you're at a ball game and you're
- 26:33betting every single pitch, ball or strike, you got a problem.
- 26:36Yes. You've got a problem if they're
- 26:38not trying to, you know, invoke some sympathy amongst maybe some
- 26:41people because is Texas Tech cooked?
- 26:46To be a national championship contender.
- 26:48Well, they're the overwhelming favorite to win the Big 12 with
- 26:51Soresby. If it's Hammond, who do you like
- 26:53more than them? Well, BYU, maybe.
- 27:00Texas Tech did it with defence a year.
- 27:01Ago they did they That's where they spent their money.
- 27:03They spent their money on defence.
- 27:06Where will they? And how different this would be
- 27:09if we had a spring portal all of a sudden Texas Tech and what
- 27:12they'd be doing with whoever was eligible and the opportunity
- 27:16there. I kind of do miss the spring
- 27:18portal a little. Bit I do too a for content.
- 27:20So I'm looking at DraftKings right now at their Heisman odds
- 27:27and I don't see him listed, so they must 'cause he would have
- 27:33been shorter than 70 to one, wouldn't he?
- 27:36Yeah, for sure. Oh absolutely.
- 27:37Yeah, so will Hammond's now. On the list.
- 27:39There you go. So he's 50 to 1.
- 27:42So, so they they've taken, they've taken Sorsby off, which
- 27:45is the prudent move. They just have wins up.
- 27:49Let me see, let me go through here.
- 27:51Wins there. They got a lot of teams listed.
- 27:54Let's go to the Big 12. Texas Tech win total is 11.
- 28:00Still 11, still high. They're losing 2 games this
- 28:04year. Hard to see. 11.
- 28:08And to win the Big 12. This is from fee and dual.
- 28:10They are still the betting favorite.
- 28:12Are they? +105 to win the conference, plus
- 28:15606 to one for BYU. Are you, are you making that bet
- 28:18without knowing who's quarterback?
- 28:21I just will. Hammond's OK.
- 28:22I don't want to make it sound like he's brutal.
- 28:25He's OK, but he had a major injury.
- 28:28I would take a shot on Houston at 14 to one.
- 28:30OK, I got a lot more work to do. What's?
- 28:34Iowa State's win total at DraftKings.
- 28:37They're 70 to 1 to win the conference.
- 28:39They are the second to last betting choice them in
- 28:41Cincinnati. Both 70 to 1.
- 28:43Colorado. Boy, how that star has fallen.
- 28:46100 to one now for them to win the Big 12 this season.
- 28:50You got win totals up there. They got the They got a variety
- 28:534 1/2, five and a half, 6 1/2. I got win totals here.
- 28:57Let's see. That's all SEC.
- 28:59Let's get to the Big 12. Iowa State 5 1/2.
- 29:04How do you bet? How do you know?
- 29:07No clue on the. You really don't under.
- 29:10What place is it under heavily juice?
- 29:12-132 plus one O 8 if you think the Cyclones are going to be
- 29:17bull eligible this year with six wins.
- 29:19Hockey talk next. The voice of the the Minnesota
- 29:22Wild, Joe O'Donnell joins us next Game 5 tonight, Dallas,
- 29:25Minnesota. Joe O'Donnell joins Miller and
- 29:27Condon when we come back on the Iowa Sports Radio Network. 1235
- 29:40Miller and Condon, Iowa Sports Radio Network, Our number 2.
- 29:45If you're a fan of the NFL or the NFL draft, Vinnie Iyer
- 29:48covered it for The Sporting News.
- 29:51Vinny will join us at 1:00, talk about some of the teams that he
- 29:55thought did very well give our opinions as well.
- 29:57It was pretty fascinating weekend watching it all unfold
- 30:00if you're into the draft. So we'll do that at 1:00.
- 30:02And then Sloan Piva, who covers the NBA, also sports wagering
- 30:07wise, will join us at about 1:35.
- 30:10All right, so we're going to head down to Dallas.
- 30:12The voice of the Minnesota Wild series tied up at 2 apiece.
- 30:17Just a phenomenal end to it. Let's get Joe O'Donnell on here.
- 30:20While we do it, we're going to let him listen to himself.
- 30:22Here's Joe O'Donnell, our next guest, as he called the game
- 30:25winner to even the series of two absorbs.
- 30:28Fires went in, Boldy hustling to it in 40 seconds, going
- 30:30overtime. Boldy dumped in the corner by
- 30:32Myers. Boldy gets back to his skates.
- 30:34A puck battle here over the left shoulder of Ottinger.
- 30:37Boldy trying to stab it free, bumped by Myers again, racing to
- 30:40a Capri saw up high for Spurgeon.
- 30:42Spurgeon has shot this guy. The Wild win Game 4, three to
- 30:56two and we've got a series. It's all not.
- 31:00Enough, that's who. Appease.
- 31:03Well, Well done, Joe. Donald, do you?
- 31:05Do you like hearing yourself? I mean, you like to know that
- 31:10you hopefully got the call right?
- 31:12You did you did you know what I. Mean some.
- 31:14Sometimes you don't know in the moment, sometimes you know,
- 31:17sometimes I feel like you don't know.
- 31:18So to hear it back, occasionally it's OK.
- 31:21I was on that one. Or darn, I wish I'd said
- 31:24something different or whatever. So thanks for having me on.
- 31:27As always. Been a fun series so far and
- 31:30it's shaping up to be a long one, which I think a lot of us
- 31:33expected. Absolutely.
- 31:34You know what, in sports we seldom you know when we promote
- 31:37and think this is going to be such a great series.
- 31:39I can't pick the winner. These two seldom doesn't live up
- 31:42to it. So far so good for this one Joe.
- 31:44It has absolutely been phenomenal.
- 31:46I don't know who has an edge at this point.
- 31:48I I know Dallas has home ice advantage with two of the last
- 31:52three in Dallas, but I I honestly don't know who has an
- 31:55edge. Yeah, it's, I think both coaches
- 31:59will tell you the same thing. You know, a lot of respect for
- 32:01the other side. And it has been sort of a coin
- 32:03flip the last couple games. The power play for Dallas has
- 32:07been the difference for them. But five on five, Minnesota's
- 32:10been the better team as far as at least producing offense.
- 32:13So it should be, you know, fun essentially best of three.
- 32:17I just saw that, you know, the NHL puts out a lot of little
- 32:20Nuggets and stats, of course, this time of year.
- 32:22And you know, it shouldn't be much of a surprise if it's the
- 32:25best of sevens tied to 2, the Game 5 winner, you know, about
- 32:2980% of the time they move on. So this is as pivotal as it
- 32:33gets. Doesn't mean you're done if you
- 32:34lose it, but obviously put yourself in the driver's seat
- 32:38whoever wins this one tonight. Well, I was noticing because we
- 32:41had the audio clip for radio, but the video clip on X.
- 32:45Do you ever use the monitor? Are you strictly on the ice?
- 32:48Also didn't see any binoculars as you were keeping an eye on
- 32:51it. So I have broadcast a lot of
- 32:53sports, anything from soccer to tennis, but I've never done
- 32:57hockey and everything in between.
- 32:59So fill me in a little bit as a play by play guy and and how you
- 33:02keep it because watching on television as a hockey novice
- 33:05boy, that feels incredibly difficult.
- 33:08Almost never used the monitor, Trent, unless I'm looking for a
- 33:11replay. You know, most times we're in
- 33:14buildings with pretty good sight lines.
- 33:17And even if we're far away, I don't ever really use the
- 33:19monitor for player identification.
- 33:23And maybe a really rare instance, I feel like for me to
- 33:26be looking at that as opposed to the actual action on the ice and
- 33:31it just wraps, man. Like I guess unfortunately or
- 33:35fortunately, I'm not sure which way to look at, but doing this a
- 33:37long time. So, you know, you call over 1000
- 33:40minor league games and then get a chance in the NHL.
- 33:43You feel like you've seen a lot. I will say, though, this time of
- 33:46year, like, I'm still getting used to the Stanley Cup Playoffs
- 33:51from the standpoint of like just how emotional it is, just how
- 33:55roller coaster ride it is from a broadcast perspective.
- 33:58And I probably need to do a better job of trying to like,
- 34:03distance myself from that, if that makes sense.
- 34:05Kind of just let the game come to you.
- 34:08Don't, you know, get too ramped up because that's when you're
- 34:10probably, you know, miss something.
- 34:14Or I try not to tell too many stories or dive into too many
- 34:17stats that require me to look down at my notes because that's
- 34:20when you miss something as well, if that makes sense.
- 34:22So trying to just take a deep breath in those overtimes and
- 34:25double overtime and just tell the story of what you know, what
- 34:29a great game is kind of unfolding in front of us.
- 34:31And it was an awesome game the other day.
- 34:33I I've seen Brock Faber play a lot of hockey.
- 34:36I am not sure I've seen him play.
- 34:38He's good, don't get me wrong. I think he's taking it to
- 34:41another level. Faber's been unbelievable so far
- 34:44in this series. Yeah, he's probably been the
- 34:47best player for either team and that's saying something with the
- 34:49star power that's out there. Ken, just talking with John
- 34:52Heinz and, you know, kind of our little broadcast exclusive
- 34:56broadcast chat that we get prior to almost every game, really.
- 35:00John does a great job of giving us some additional time to kind
- 35:03of add some stuff that's not in front of the general media.
- 35:07You know, the ESPN 2 crew was there as well today to sort of
- 35:10do the same thing. And Katie Storm from FanDuel
- 35:14just said, hey, Rock Faber, you know, like he's been so good.
- 35:17What? And John Hines said it's the
- 35:19skating and his attention to detail and he's playing like
- 35:23he's seen Faber play it, you know, the Olympics and obviously
- 35:26last year in the Four Nations for Team USA and just how good
- 35:29he is. So these big moments, these big
- 35:31games, you're getting the best from Rock Faber internationally.
- 35:34And now for the Wild as well. He has just been excellent.
- 35:38We look forward and we already know the winner of this series
- 35:41is going to move on to take on Colorado.
- 35:44Now, there were some tight games in there against the Kings, but
- 35:46a sweep is a sweep. Knowing that this is going to be
- 35:48a minimum 6, probably seven games between these two teams,
- 35:52banked up the physicality that we've seen throughout the course
- 35:54of the playoffs. Colorado's really good.
- 35:56What kind of shot do you give either of these squads though in
- 35:59the next round against Colorado? Well, they present, you know,
- 36:04depending on who comes out of here, right, it's going to be a
- 36:06different type of opponent. Colorado, Dallas and Minnesota,
- 36:10a lot of similarities in the regular season.
- 36:11You look at some of the numbers you dive into, you know, some of
- 36:14the deeper stats as well. They're pretty evenly matched.
- 36:17Colorado was such a strong team out of the gate, you know,
- 36:21basically putting themselves in upper echelon NHL history as far
- 36:25as the way they started the season hit a little bumpy patch
- 36:28kind of in that March territory, ended up winning the President's
- 36:32Trophy, best record in hockey. And now they are rested and
- 36:36they're a little different team. Like I I look at Dallas and
- 36:39Minnesota and I think about, you know, obviously not just the
- 36:44goaltending, but the star power. And then you look at Colorado
- 36:47and you go, oh, man, they they check a lot of boxes too, right?
- 36:50McKinnon, Mccarr, Martine, nature's had a great year.
- 36:54Landis Cogs healthy play. Well, you know, it'll just be
- 36:58kind of, I think whoever comes out between the Wild and the
- 37:01Stars is going to be, you know, how quickly can you get back to
- 37:05your game, right? It's going to be an emotional
- 37:07series. Is there a let down there for
- 37:08either of those teams? Are they still revved up for
- 37:10game one where maybe Colorado's a little rusty or not at that
- 37:14high octane level to start another series?
- 37:16So I think early in the series, whoever comes out of this one,
- 37:20you know, will there be an advantage there for the ABS
- 37:22being rested or will they be a little rusty?
- 37:25That probably be the first thing I'm looking for.
- 37:26And then it'll be the goaltending match not show If
- 37:29it's a wild that emerge, you got Volstead and Gustafson.
- 37:32If it's the stars, we know it's Ottinger, although Casey
- 37:34dismissed certainly played well at times when called upon for
- 37:37Dallas. And then it'll just be for
- 37:39Colorado. You know, they had Wedgwood and
- 37:41Blackwood both going all year long, basically alternating
- 37:44starts. And then Wedgwood was excellent
- 37:45in the first round series. So but but he's a little
- 37:48unproven. So that'll be certainly
- 37:51something you'll probably the start of the series and the
- 37:53goaltending matchup depending on who comes out.
- 37:55Wilder stars be something I'll be looking at.
- 37:58Miko, I beg your pardon? Heiskinen, the defenseman, did
- 38:01he practice? Apparently he missed practices.
- 38:04Is there a concern there if you're a Dallas Star fan, or is
- 38:06there just maintenance day for him?
- 38:08Do you know anything about what's going on there?
- 38:12Yeah, he's kind of just maintenance.
- 38:13Yesterday he missed the tail end of the regular season after he
- 38:17got hurt in the final game with the Wild in the regular season
- 38:20on April the 9th. Came back in time for game one.
- 38:23He's logging his normal minutes. They seem to think the stars do
- 38:25that. He's getting better by the game,
- 38:27get healthier by the day. So he just had a day off
- 38:30yesterday. The one change for Dallas will
- 38:32be Ilya Labushkin comes in on defense.
- 38:35Neil's one quest took a very scary situation.
- 38:38Michael McCarron skate cut him. Yeah, it's a deep cut there.
- 38:43Glenn Galton, the star set coach said, so you won't play tonight.
- 38:47Questionable return, some point in the series for the Wild.
- 38:50Matt Zuccarello and Yakov Trentoner game time decisions
- 38:53both skated yesterday before the team headed to Dallas.
- 38:57Those will be two huge boosts for the Wild and then get either
- 38:59of both those guys back. Of course, Zuccarello more
- 39:02offensive trending. Obviously a Wrecking Ball out
- 39:06there leading the NHL and hits in the regular season.
- 39:08So it'll be the first time that either of those players is in
- 39:12the lineup. Trenton got hurt early in Game
- 39:152. Zuccarello got hurt but finished
- 39:16Game one. So the Wild has kind of gone a
- 39:19couple of games here without two of their key pieces up front.
- 39:22Both could be returning tonight. I saw an incredible stat, the
- 39:26wild since they've made a couple of deep runs some 20 years ago,
- 39:29a chance to take either A31 or tonight A32 lead.
- 39:33They've had 12 opportunities over the last 18 years.
- 39:36They're one in 11 in these kind of, I don't know if that's a
- 39:40stat that's been out there in wild community for you, Joe, but
- 39:43just crazy. They've had plenty of chances
- 39:45like this to take control of a series and have come up short.
- 39:49Why was this year? Why does it feel different to
- 39:51you this year? Well, just for me personally,
- 39:54Trent, I've, you know, the few playoff seasons I've been up
- 39:57here for, they've had a 21 series lead and haven't won
- 40:02another game. You know, Saint Louis and 22
- 40:04Dallas and 23 Vegas last year. You know, 21 series leads.
- 40:08You're trying to put your stranglehold on that series.
- 40:11And then not only do you not win that next game to go up three
- 40:14one. In fact, the wild never had a
- 40:16three one series lead in franchise history, but they also
- 40:18have won another game the rest of the way.
- 40:20So. It was nice to see them respond
- 40:22with that game four win against the Stars, right, because Dallas
- 40:26could have gone up three one. And then let's be honest, it's
- 40:29it's a tough Rd. if that's the case.
- 40:30So this year he's been so close to answer your question.
- 40:35You know, I think this is a different team.
- 40:38You can just tell by their demeanor.
- 40:39You know, maybe they've got, you know, some hard lessons they've
- 40:43learned in previous playoff years.
- 40:46Just felt like, you know, losing double overtime game three could
- 40:50have easily, you know, gone the other way in Game 4.
- 40:53But they found a way to get W trail trailing in that game,
- 40:56tying it up in the third. Just feels like this team is
- 40:59more committed. They've learned some lessons
- 41:02over the last couple of playoff series that haven't gone their
- 41:04way. And they've got a lot of
- 41:06veterans in that locker room. You know, that maybe weren't
- 41:10part of the Wild the last couple of years, but the guys that have
- 41:12been around the block, I think you'll see a committed, really
- 41:16competitive Wild team here tonight and the rest of the
- 41:19series. And I think they've got a better
- 41:20shot now than maybe the last couple years because of their
- 41:23depth and just that experience. Joe O'Donnell, radio voice of
- 41:26the Minnesota Wild. I know the players try to get a
- 41:28nap in the afternoon. Does the radio broadcaster.
- 41:32Yeah, get that accomplished here at some point, Kenny.
- 41:35Don't you worry about that bro. Could be a late.
- 41:38One, yeah, because hopefully, hopefully that's phenomenal,
- 41:41phenomenal, phenomenal sport. Good stuff, Joe.
- 41:43Thank you, man. Appreciate it.
- 41:45We'll talk to you down the road. OK, Joe, thank you for doing
- 41:47this. Good to talk to you, Joe Donald,
- 41:50radio voice of the Minnesota Wild.
- 41:51Good guy, spent some time here in Des Moines.
- 41:54Doesn't forget his time here in Des Moines, too.
- 41:55Left a lot of friends in the Des Moines area and series is tied
- 41:59up at 2 apiece. It gets the ESPN two treatment
- 42:02tonight. I saw it.
- 42:03What's going on? I have no idea.
- 42:04What does ESPN have? Do they have NBA Tonight?
- 42:07No, they don't have NBA, I don't believe.
- 42:10Shouldn't say that they do they. Go to NBA.
- 42:13Yeah, that Trump's it. But guess what?
- 42:15It's not going away. I mean, it's still on
- 42:17television. Yeah, it is.
- 42:18And and you have it on Directvi. Do Trey, yes, we get on two O 9,
- 42:22yeah, 'cause TNT's got there's three games tonight, TNT has two
- 42:27of them and ESPN 2 has the marquee game of the night for
- 42:32Edmonton. Conor Mcdavis game time
- 42:34decision. They have no choice.
- 42:36They have no chance if he doesn't play.
- 42:37I don't think they have a chance if he does play.
- 42:40There's teams, they're just tired, they're on fumes.
- 42:42You go seven games and lose the Stanley Cup in back-to-back
- 42:45years, takes a toll, man. That's a lot of extra hockey.
- 42:48So what are they rooting for? What's the final that?
- 42:51That the league would want to see.
- 42:53Oh, good question. They want, do they want Buffalo
- 42:59just because of the story? Maybe, but I don't know.
- 43:02Does that Buffalo never wins anything, football or hockey?
- 43:05But does that story resonate nationwide?
- 43:08It's a fun story. Do they want Sidney Crosby?
- 43:11He's a Canadian, right? In a Pittsburgh plays in
- 43:13Pittsburgh, obviously. He's a star though.
- 43:15He's a *. Vegas, Utah, Philly, Tampa, They
- 43:21all in Montreal. Nope.
- 43:24The league as a whole when we include Canada, definitely wants
- 43:27that. Sure.
- 43:29I think now what about the West? Do they want Minnesota or Dallas
- 43:33or Colorado? I think Colorado.
- 43:35Yeah, I think Colorado, the most marketable I think out of the
- 43:38out of the West is Colorado, Colorado against the winner of
- 43:42Pittsburgh, Philly. Well, you know what it's liable
- 43:44to be. What about what about Colorado?
- 43:45Columbus? I mean, Colorado, Carolina.
- 43:51And the worst scenario is what's the worst Mammoth versus
- 43:56Montreal? Mammoth, Montreal That sounds
- 44:00like something completely different than a Stanley Cup
- 44:02Final. And it does in a lot of ways,
- 44:04although Montreal certainly got a lot of banners, but it's been
- 44:06a long time. They are, however, the last team
- 44:09from up there to win the Stanley Cup.
- 44:10Will take a time out. Trenton, I'll come back, finish
- 44:12up the hour. NFL talk to kick off our number
- 44:16two NBA talk in the middle of it and then Trent's Plays of the
- 44:19day, Miller and Condon on the Iowa Sports Radio Network.
