- 3:34Speaker 4: Arizona and the Superstitious Mountains. Tonight, we had to the
- 3:50Speaker 4: jagged Shadows with the Superstitious Mountains or legends of gold
- 3:57Speaker 4: and death. As a survived for centuries before the tale
- 4:04Speaker 4: of the Lost Dutchman's gold Mine, there was another story,
- 4:09Speaker 4: a darker wood, a story soaked him blood.
- 4:15Speaker 3: This is a legend of the Pultra Puacha as a curb.
- 4:29Speaker 3: The story begins in eighteen forty when the wealthy patrola
- 4:36Speaker 3: family of Mexico, said to be decendants of Spanish nobility,
- 4:44Speaker 3: they were RuaRed. They have discovered rich means of gold
- 4:48Speaker 3: in deep within the superstitious mountains for years, the legend
- 4:54Speaker 3: legendly holed gold out by the meal train in the
- 5:00Speaker 3: mine's location secret, but secrets have the frontier never stayed buried,
- 5:11Speaker 3: were it spread and so agreed. By eighteen forty eight,
- 5:19Speaker 3: According to legend.
- 5:21Speaker 5: The Paltrys organized one final expedition dozens of men, pack animals,
- 5:31Speaker 5: and enough.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Cold to make kings. They never made it home as
- 5:43Speaker 3: a protest caravan. While through the narrow canyons now what's
- 5:51Speaker 3: now called Master Brown's Trail.
- 5:56Speaker 6: They were launched.
- 5:59Speaker 5: The attacks warriors from a patch of tribe at least
- 6:05Speaker 5: the corners of legend. Some say that apaches had along
- 6:10Speaker 5: guarded the mountain, least something.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Ancient and evil lived there. Others say they wanted the
- 6:19Speaker 3: gold when they When the attack came, it was swift.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Arrows reigned from the cliffs, gun fired echoed through the canyon.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Men and mules fell, and when the dust settled nearly.
- 6:38Speaker 6: Airy Portra was dead.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Their bodies were left where they fell, their gold vanished.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Legend says one man escaped a young parotruck, wounded, terrified,
- 7:06Speaker 3: He's crawled from miles before reaching safely before he died.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Years later. He supposedly drew a crude.
- 7:18Speaker 5: Map to the hidden mind, map that could win of
- 7:28Speaker 5: the earliest clues to the lost Dutchman's gold. But there
- 7:35Speaker 5: things get stranger. People search Masacer site and have claimed
- 7:43Speaker 5: to hear pantom screens in.
- 7:45Speaker 7: The canyon at night, real belts or no Adam's walk
- 7:53Speaker 7: and whispers in Spanish.
- 8:00Speaker 5: Modern hikers and the superstitious still report strange lightnings near
- 8:08Speaker 5: the boat trails, shadow figures, sudden gold spots in the
- 8:14Speaker 5: desert heat, an overwhelming feeling of being watched. Some believe
- 8:27Speaker 5: that the ghosts of the murder parotas still guard their treasure.
- 8:35Speaker 5: Others think whoever drove the apaches to fear the mountains
- 8:41Speaker 5: still remain because in these mountains people vanish even today
- 8:51Speaker 5: and not everyone is found. Was approtra massacre real historians
- 9:03Speaker 5: debated Some records suggest approach of a family its own
- 9:09Speaker 5: mines in Arizona, whethers argue the massacre itself maybe pure myth, created.
- 9:17Speaker 3: To add mystery to Lost Dutchman's Mind legend. But if
- 9:22Speaker 3: you walk in those Kenyons at dusk and here sounds
- 9:27Speaker 3: of the mule Belts behind you, don't turn around. Out
- 9:40Speaker 3: of the Arizona Desert east of Phoenix raises one of
- 9:45Speaker 3: the pure mountain ranges in America, the Superstitious Mountains, jagged, ancient,
- 9:55Speaker 3: wrapped in stories older than state itself. They if you
- 10:02Speaker 3: listen closely at night, you could hear the voices in an.
- 10:06Speaker 5: End and somewhere beneath those black volcanic cliffs by is
- 10:13Speaker 5: one of the greatest unsolved treasure legends in American.
- 10:18Speaker 3: History, the Lost Dutchman's Boy. But many who have searched
- 10:25Speaker 3: for it never came back. We descend into the haunted
- 10:33Speaker 3: heart of the Superstitious. The story begins in eighteen hundreds.
- 10:46Speaker 3: A German immigrant named Jacob Waltz, later called the Dutchman,
- 10:53Speaker 3: was said to have stumbled upon a rich being of
- 10:58Speaker 3: gold and deep in the mountain before Dane. In eighteen
- 11:03Speaker 3: ninety one, whilst llegedly gave clues to the mine's location
- 11:09Speaker 3: to a woman named Juliet Thomas, but no clear map
- 11:14Speaker 3: was ever found that should have been at the end
- 11:18Speaker 3: of it. Instead, it was just the beginning. The Apache
- 11:26Speaker 3: believed the mounts were cursed. Some legends say the peaks
- 11:31Speaker 3: inside the doorway to the underworld itself. Strange winds, unnatural screams,
- 11:40Speaker 3: and the dust storms were traveled to.
- 11:43Speaker 5: The be spirits escaping from below. Treasure hunters ignored the warnings,
- 11:50Speaker 5: and one by one by one, the mountain took them up.
- 12:01Speaker 5: In eighteen thirty one, an old prospector named Adolph Ruth
- 12:07Speaker 5: entered the mountains searching for the mine. Weeks later, his
- 12:14Speaker 5: skull was found with two holes in it.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Some set gunshots, others set scavengers, but his notes gone,
- 12:27Speaker 3: his map missing. His camp had signs of struggle.
- 12:33Speaker 5: To this day, people debate whether Ruth found something or someone.
- 12:41Speaker 3: At founding him.
- 12:42Speaker 5: First, locals tell strange stories. Campers report blowing figures moving
- 12:54Speaker 5: across richlines, shadowing men and old mining close appear at dusk,
- 13:02Speaker 5: then just Vanish miners here, pick axes striking on rock
- 13:10Speaker 5: there was no one there, and songs where they have
- 13:16Speaker 5: seen lantern nights floating near Reaver's Needle, a place often
- 13:23Speaker 5: tied to the mine online. Even modern treasure hunters talk
- 13:31Speaker 5: about a presence out there, something watching. There's the disappearances,
- 13:44Speaker 5: search parties, prospectors, hikers, The mountains done always give them back.
- 13:53Speaker 5: In twenty ten, three men vanish while searching for the
- 13:58Speaker 5: lost Dutchman. Months later, the remains were found. The desert
- 14:05Speaker 5: had cleaned them all, but some saying it wasn't the heat,
- 14:12Speaker 5: some saying the mountains protections.
- 14:15Speaker 3: It's gold.
- 14:20Speaker 5: And if the mind was never just a treasure, what
- 14:24Speaker 5: if it is just bad, a lower a promise of
- 14:30Speaker 5: gold that builds people into a place where they meant
- 14:35Speaker 5: they were never meant to enter. And maybe something ancient still,
- 14:41Speaker 5: what waits there?
- 14:43Speaker 6: Watching guardian whispering.
- 14:58Speaker 3: That it's tonight's up. So I hope everyone enjoyed it,
- 15:05Speaker 3: and hope everyone employees that a week and until next time,
- 15:23Speaker 3: keep it spooking my friends, and until then, this is
