- 0:00That was so hot. I love watching you do other guys. I'd like
- 0:05to see you do a guy sometime. It can be arranged. Four finger
- 0:12Discount dude, welcome to forfigure discount. With this week, we're here to
- 0:31review the eighteenth installment of the Treous of Horror franchise. It is Tres of
- 0:35Horror eighteen and I am guys, and yeah, a slightly less spooky tree
- 0:43has not as much horror in this Treehouse of Horror as one might expect.
- 0:46You mentioned to me before we were recording the other day one about Seinfeld podcasts.
- 0:49I think it would have been you didn't really enjoy this one. I
- 0:52am going to say that I really enjoyed the Mister and Mister Smith parody.
- 0:56Granted, no horror, still violent, not horror, but still violent,
- 0:59still blood thirsty. The final one I thought was a bit. It started
- 1:03off okay, I like the trick or tree aspect of it, and then
- 1:04I sort of went into a riff on what was it? A riff one
- 1:07in the end, the Seven Deadly Sins. But it's a particular thing.
- 1:10It's on the wiki page. Well, yeah, I mean they have things
- 1:12in the US during hellwhen called hellhouses or heckhouses in here. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:18in this case because it's yes, orchestrated by Ned Flanders, who's not
- 1:23gonna well. The Heackhouse is inspired by the Garden of Earthly Delights, painted
- 1:26by Dutch Renaissance painter I can't say his name, Hieronymous Bosh Horonymous bo Okay,
- 1:32Yes, so that's what the basis of this story was. The frame
- 1:36story of Heckhouse is inspired by the horror film classic Seven Footprints to Satan.
- 1:40Like in the film, has the heckhouse the function to teach about morality.
- 1:44I don't know how much of a classic. I've never heard of it,
- 1:46okay, but it says horror film classic according to Wikipedia, and it never
- 1:49lies to us. I'll get up to Seven Footprints to Satan. Let's get
- 1:53it up. I'll tell you when it first came out. It looks like
- 1:56it's old because the poster is like handpainted. It came out in nineteen twenty
- 2:00nine. Oh, I think anything more than hundred years. I was just
- 2:01defined as a classic. It's a classic. We're just calling things a classic
- 2:05now. But yeah, I was of the mind that because there's a documentary
- 2:08called is it I think it's called hell House LLC. And you've got this
- 2:12company that basically sets up spooky houses all over the place, but they have
- 2:15a bit of a Christian undertone as well as like, well you go to
- 2:19HG Double hockey Sticks if you do this, this or this. Okay,
- 2:23So that's what this is similar based on. I think so. Yes,
- 2:25I think I enjoyed the second one the most. I will say I was
- 2:29kind of disappointed because you know how much I love ET. My son's name
- 2:32is Elliott. I've got a giant Et statue in here. Et is my
- 2:35favorite movie voice. You're looking at me, Yes, yes, but I
- 2:42feel personally attach. The thing is, I remember when they first marketed it's
- 2:46going to be an ET segment on Tres of Horror and being so genuinely excited.
- 2:50I think I've been that excited for a tress or a segment in a
- 2:52long time. My two favorite franchises coming together, and I couldn't have been
- 2:55any more disappointed. I didn't think there was any real humor in that one.
- 3:00It felt like a rushed, non thought out, just beat for beat
- 3:06take on it, except for the fact that the aliens are here to invade
- 3:08in the end. But in the end of it where they just kill them
- 3:12and then Homer smothers the alien at the end. I thought, this is
- 3:15just im poor taste. It is. It's kind of mean spirited. I
- 3:19think you're laying a trap for yourself if you're going to, first of all,
- 3:22do a parody of the parody of ET. I mean, it's such
- 3:24a beloved film, and beloved for very specific reasons. I mean, it
- 3:28tends to be a film that a lot of people, yourself included, very
- 3:31very close to Ye, there's a lot of nostalgia for it. Laying a
- 3:35second trap by doing a parody of it or paying tribute to it during a
- 3:38Treehouse of Horror episode, it's like, okay, well we'll take the beloved
- 3:42ET put a bit of a sinister but humorous twist on it. Degree of
- 3:46difficulty is somewhere around nine point eight. Even though even though I mean,
- 3:52you go back and you look at Et, particularly before he reveals himself all
- 3:57day, we don't know what gender ET is. If the kids say that's
- 4:00true, they do. But apparently spielbergers said, since that he's a plant,
- 4:04so he's non he's non binary because he's a plant. So it's some
- 4:09someone on on the zone the other days, Like what if we went home
- 4:12to ET's planet and everyone else they were all wearing clothes. He's just a
- 4:17freaking I mean, we do see at the start another more enclosed day is
- 4:21a funny gag, that's true. But then but then on top of that,
- 4:27Yeah, you kind of dropped the ball by doing it in this kind
- 4:31of mean spirited fashion. I mean, it should have been that the cops.
- 4:36You should have taken the same trait as the cops are the bad guys
- 4:39here, not the AD. I understand what you're trying to go for with
- 4:42Treos of horror, but the shinning right, the shitting just follows the shining
- 4:46right with the Simpsons twist, you completely you took the ET vibe and he
- 4:50had similar elements there, but you just completely changed the story. I don't
- 4:54think that's what ET fans wanted. I don't think that's what ET fans want,
- 4:58absolutely not. I mean, you're trading on the ET name, so
- 5:01you probably basically have to play by ET rules. I like the I mean
- 5:06I think when I was saying to you, I didn't like this episode,
- 5:09Daniel, can we not record it? You literally said that you didn't listen
- 5:12to and exactly that voice. But I say, I like the idea behind
- 5:18each of these segments. I think they all work. And you know,
- 5:21me being the Monday morning quarterback that I'm like, I would have done this
- 5:25way, like I said, with the two greatest words in the English language
- 5:29hindsight, unless, as I know, it's one word, don't worry,
- 5:32can't put him that's a joke. Oh it's twenty twenty now of these handsag
- 5:38glasses. Yeah, I think these are all good ideas. I could see
- 5:44how they'd work in this very How long is each segment of a tree house
- 5:46of r It's usually what five minutes? Well there is sometimes they dedicate more
- 5:49to others, but it's usually five minutes five to six minutes each. Ish
- 5:53this one would have been that for this because we had the intro, which
- 5:56I'll touch on later as well. Yeah, but okay, you've got the
- 5:59story of which is very loving, very understanding. It's like, oh,
- 6:01you know, he's stranded on this planet and we have to help him.
- 6:03Let's get him home. Oh, when he's not stranded, it's like,
- 6:06wait a minute, he's and we're just as bad. In fact, we're
- 6:09worse it's it's like what comes out feeling good, and I wanted to come
- 6:14out feeling happy. Not that you should have a treehouse of Horror. I
- 6:17like I said at start, I get why they put the twist on it
- 6:20right to make it more fun. It just didn't. But there's feel right
- 6:23with this. There's a nasty tit twist and there's just plain cruel and cold
- 6:29blood, which is what this feels like. Homer Smother in the Island at
- 6:31the end just really put the chair in the cave for me to go.
- 6:33Like you said, mean spirit, I went, this is just not fun
- 6:36at all as a kid watching this. You beyond granted kids probably shouldn't be
- 6:41watching treeos of horror, but still any of you are going, that's just
- 6:44that's just not cool. No, no, But I always thought treehouses of
- 6:46horror is to use a term I use a lot babies first horror movie,
- 6:49or you know, your first steps into the genre. I mean, if
- 6:53you know a little kid's watching The Shining and go, oh, that's I'm
- 6:57scared, but also kind of interesting. Let me show you a little something
- 6:59here, kid with Jack Nicholson and Shelley GiB My question for you, though,
- 7:02is that didn't we just watch Homer shoot the al, shoot King or
- 7:05Cotis with whichever one it was. It's Codis the destroyer, isn't it.
- 7:09I believe it is Coder. Yeah, so we watch him to shoot him.
- 7:13So then how's the other table? Literally ten seconds later, probably got
- 7:15super cool alien regenerative powers, not unlike ET the extra correctorial. I'm pretty
- 7:20sure you exploded. Et Hey, come back, you can heal boo boos.
- 7:26That's the other sorry to be all guy talks about what he saw on
- 7:30Twitter. But all this week or maybe over the last fortnight. Well,
- 7:34it wasn't n till my internet crapped out. Hey, I I Net,
- 7:36hurry up, fix my shit? Uh have you unplugged U from the wall
- 7:42and left plugged the back in? Have you reset your motive? No?
- 7:46I think they recognizing that it's a more serious issue that we're going to Oh
- 7:49says that you haven't paid your bills since nineteen ninety seven. That is a
- 7:53serious issue. But also it's a twenty first century Internet should be free for
- 7:57everybody. Um, there's been hot got in your phone to your TV.
- 8:01Not even that, just looking at the internet media. I told Umbrella,
- 8:07thank you friend, of the pot Umbrella. Yeah, where they send you
- 8:09this week? The Hitcher? Was it? Actually I've already had the Hitcher,
- 8:13but they sent me two classics of Australian exploitation, okay, was Blotation,
- 8:18Dead End Drive in and Midnight Spares. I've always said, you know,
- 8:22we're the country that made Mad Max and Mad Max furiros in cinemas now
- 8:26apparently tanking, not tanking, but not doing as well as expected. The
- 8:31Man Max movies have never been huge blockbusters. I don't know why people would
- 8:33have expected huge bank at the box office that movie. Anyway, as I
- 8:37was saying to somebody on Twitter, they were saying films, the movie industry
- 8:41is dead, and I'm like, it's like how many sequels into a franchise
- 8:43And they're saying, well, all these high IP because they said Barbie,
- 8:46right, And I said, of course Barbie did well because it was it
- 8:48was It's Barbie. Yeah, it's like Super Mario. Of course Maria is
- 8:52going to do what's fuck sup Marios? The intrigue people going, oh,
- 8:54then why are the other b IP is not succeeding like the other the new
- 8:56Marvel movies and Transformers. The new one didn't do well, And I'm like,
- 9:01transforms, you have any fucking sequels that we dip into the Franis Indiana
- 9:03Jones. That's the fifth one into a franchise. What was the first of
- 9:05the Marvels. I'm sorry superhero fans, but the new Marvels superheroes are not
- 9:09the same level ip wise as Barbie. We're talking franchise fatigue as well.
- 9:13I mean, yeah, that's that's the first Barbie movie. We've we've never
- 9:16seen it. There's the intrigue, of course, is going to do well
- 9:18because people were saying, oh, people are saying people shouldn't have female leads.
- 9:22I'm like, granted, yes, I argue that, right, I
- 9:24understand people those so you are saying they shouldn't have females. People are saying
- 9:28that they're idiots, right, I understand they feel idiots. But also you
- 9:31can't put all the success to the fact that it was a female lead.
- 9:33It was fucking Barbie. That's why. That's eighty percent of the reason,
- 9:37my opinion, why it was his success because it was just Barbie. It
- 9:39was the intrigue of seeing this huge ip Barbie's first film. They're also incredible
- 9:45marketing unbelievable marketing. Margot Robbie Ryan Gosling went above and beyond. The Warner
- 9:50Brothers marketing team went above and beyond. Friend of the Pod, and you
- 9:52make the airfort and there is again no franchise fatigue. Yeah, if you
- 9:58build it, they will come. Yeahway back to this episode. Yes,
- 10:01oh we got side wrap. But yeah, Australia made these, made the
- 10:05first Mad Max. We should have been making Mad Max knockoff ten to the
- 10:09dozen. Yeah we did not for some reason. The Italians did it.
- 10:13They made some really good ones. But was it just money? I think
- 10:16I think infrastructure. No, I think it was an idea that Australians might
- 10:22might have thought it was a bit vulgar. There's in the great documentary about
- 10:26explitation movie called Not Quite Hollywood. You've got a few people saying, no,
- 10:30no, we don't want to We don't want the rest of the world
- 10:31thinking that we're a bunch of hons Alaricans and marauders and monsters. You know,
- 10:37we wanted to think we're what's the saying. Homer says, as far
- 10:39as everyone knows, we're a nice, normal country. Well, that's exactly
- 10:45it. And if you had made a bunch of more Mad Mac movies and
- 10:50Mad Max knockoffs and oh that's all they do down there. It's just this.
- 10:54It's Convict Island and it never evolved, so it sounds like a great
- 11:00what's the condemned ripoff? Convict Island? Every Australian for himself, I always
- 11:05wanted to do an Australian escape from New York rip off where Tasmania's becomes a
- 11:09penal colony. That'd be awesome, would be great, wouldn't it. Let's
- 11:13do it. We have a lot of ideas. We had a lot of
- 11:15ideas if you looking for ideas and where your men? We have a lot
- 11:18of ideas, but now many yes, so sorry read when we were I
- 11:24just said, oh yeah, I watched Dead End Drive in and Midnight Spares
- 11:28brought you from your friends at the Umbrella Corporations. Not the resident evil Umbrella
- 11:33Corporation. We're talking about the good one Umbrella Entertainment dot com today. You
- 11:35believe it, my beach. Check them out if you want to get some
- 11:37cool that is correct film. But the thing is, mister missus Smith,
- 11:41what didn't you like about this? Because I thought this was actually really well
- 11:43put together probably one of my favorite chests for a segment in quite a while.
- 11:48I really liked how Margin Humm were just both really good at this they
- 11:52living their own double lives. I can't I remember going to see Mister and
- 11:54Missus Smith at the cinema. My memories are basically, they're a couple who
- 12:00were both assassins and don't realize that they're actual assassins living a double life.
- 12:03And then they both sort of realized at the same point, Oh, wait
- 12:05a minute, you're you're you, you're you, and then they come together
- 12:09at the end. Yeah, there are a couple who meet cute while they're
- 12:13on a they're on their respective jobs. Neither of them know that the other
- 12:16is an assassin's breadbed. Angeline and Jolly, and of course they're incredibly drawn
- 12:22to each other, and they were in real This is where they got together.
- 12:26They got they hooked up for the first time. Yes, Pitt still
- 12:28with Angeline and Jolley and Jennifer Aniston. Yeah. So I thought it was
- 12:35a lot of funny gags and this thought the action sequences were good, and
- 12:39I thought that whilst it was not gory, I just thought there was still
- 12:41a lot of violence. In there it was, but essentially it was just
- 12:45replaying Beef Beat a lot of mister and missus Smith. That's that's what I
- 12:48guess it is. But it didn't transpose it properly to the Simpsons. I
- 12:52mean, I would have loved it if they were still the same middle class
- 12:56lower and middle class family they always were and realized times again tough, we
- 13:00need side hustles and home is not going to go work at the bowling Alley
- 13:03and see he becomes an assassin. I think I'm going to get a job.
- 13:05I think if this was a full length episode, you probably have the
- 13:09time to do that. You don't have the time to when it's called mister
- 13:11missus Smith, what's it called here? And Simpson? Which is funny if
- 13:16you know the license of its Missus Smith, you know the story explaining all
- 13:20that. It's just kind of I agree with you, that would have been
- 13:22good, but I think time restraints here. You probably just haven't got the
- 13:26time for that kind of setup. When you just as an audience, you
- 13:28just kind of get it, okay, but instead you just get It's like
- 13:31when you know how occasional in the oscars or something they'll have or on any
- 13:35award show, like a movie award show. They'll take the host, usually
- 13:39a comedian, and transmit transpose them into like a movie. I mean,
- 13:46when I was growing up, was Billy crystlal and I was like, they
- 13:48put Billy Crystal in Titanning. That's funny. This is essentially that they didn't
- 13:52sympsonize it is all. It's just they've really just taken the script from Mister
- 13:56and Missus Smith and they put Homer and Margin in it. Now, you're
- 13:58right. I mean, it does look good and the action is kind of
- 14:01funny and well put together, But I don't know, just on mine,
- 14:05I was like, I would have liked a little bit more. It's not
- 14:07enough for me to say, hey, imagine mister and Missus Smith, but
- 14:11with home remarks like okay done, Mister and Missus Smith have Angela Jolie making
- 14:16him a killer Lasanna and him going don't need it, don't okay, Okay.
- 14:18Yeah, that's pretty much the only well not the only Simpsons as gag
- 14:22in there. But I don't know. I liked the let's get to our
- 14:26favorite moments, my favorite. I really enjoyed that moment when we're talking to
- 14:31his brain okay, don't all right, you're eating it. Okay, don't
- 14:33eat too much? All right, you finished it? Okay anymore? With
- 14:35him saying I'll kill her after the dessert says it out loud. I thought
- 14:39that was just funny, Homer. You know, usually when he's talking to
- 14:43his brain. There was one bit last week at the start of last week's
- 14:45episode where it was strangling his own head, and that was stupid. This
- 14:48felt more like the classic Simpsons. But this felt more what it used to
- 14:54be. Yeah, from my mind, the brain was smarter than him.
- 14:58Yeah, there was a bit in Mister and Missus Simpson and look, it's
- 15:01veering in the which as a centers doesn't make any sense. But you know
- 15:03what I mean that the brain's trying to speak sense. But his body,
- 15:05you know, you know what I mean, the smart part of his brain,
- 15:07which is a very small section of the impulse is yeah, yeah,
- 15:11or what do you call it. You've got the you know, the superrego
- 15:15and the and the it is the part that's just like, do what I
- 15:18want right now, do whatever feels good right now. Yeah. There's a
- 15:22line in the Mister and Missus Simpsons segment where it sort of like feels like
- 15:24it's veering into Peter Griffin territory. But I just I think it's a really
- 15:28funny line, which pit where he's about that they I think they're at the
- 15:33marriage counsel at the start, which is yeah, also a direct left from
- 15:35mister and missus Smith. It's ahead of film start, that's it. It
- 15:37sort of book ends that they're they're sitting at the therapist office and they're trying
- 15:41to work this shit out, but neither of them knows that the other is
- 15:43a killer. And well, you know, we just don't have anything common.
- 15:48You don't share my interest in not being with you. That was very
- 15:50mean. I thought it was very mean, but it's also but it fit
- 15:54this story. It is and you remember, these aren't can This isn't Homer
- 15:58being Homer. This is no this is mister Smith. You know, this
- 16:02is a couple that are dissatisfied with what. Yeah, that was a pretty
- 16:04funny line. I didn't mind it as well. Yeah, I liked the
- 16:10it's only quick sort of passing gay. But when he's talking to Burns,
- 16:12who's obviously the boss, I'm not I'm assuming Brad Pitt's character must have a
- 16:15boss that he speaks to in the film. Yeah, they both have these
- 16:19voices in the Charlie. Yeah, they both got teams and they sort of
- 16:25like support staff. Okay, Brad Pitts' is Vince Voorne and it was always
- 16:29for a while that Vince Vaughn was the supporting guy in many in Australia.
- 16:33Moment I see they're selling now, buy one, get one, I just
- 16:34giving them away now because he's doing like a speech with like too some check.
- 16:40He's like an influence and from like desperate, not just bad that like
- 16:41the Housewives of something. Yeah, I must have meant when I saw that,
- 16:45I'm like, Vince why Yeah, also Vince what he's talking about business
- 16:48or something. Yeah, it's some of the best comments, saying it's come
- 16:52a long ways since throwing it on the line to be a Google What was
- 16:56that movie that The Intern? He's ting a long ways and throwing it all
- 17:00the way to to just try and be a Google intern or whatever. I'm
- 17:02like, that's awesome. I just never understood VI's vornas knacked. I mean,
- 17:06apparently he's a lovely guy. I don't know. I've heard nothing but
- 17:08nice stories, but you just think him Oh, goodness. I liked him
- 17:12in Drassic Park Lost World. Yeah, but he just when they try to
- 17:15make him a main star for a while there, I just didn't get it.
- 17:19He's a perfect supporting cast actor for me. Main star, I don't
- 17:23understand it. It's it's very interesting. I mean prior to Lost World,
- 17:26I mean the reason he got that was a movie called Swingers. Have have
- 17:30you ever seen Swingers? No? I have not. If your Swingers,
- 17:32you go, oh, yeah, this guy is the biggest star in the
- 17:34world. He's just everyone who saw Swingers when left this and we go,
- 17:38who's that? Who is that? Okay, Yeah, he's really really good
- 17:42in it. I mean that's and I think spell booths and said, give
- 17:45me that guy. I want him. And for a while he tried.
- 17:48I think we've talked about this before about they try to be all things,
- 17:52you know. I mean, I think we were talking about the Chris Is
- 17:53maybe even Chris Prout or something. He tried romantic comedies, he tried goofball
- 17:56comedies. Yeah, and but he also tried oh okay, action, Oh
- 18:02but how about I'm a dramatic actor as well, And some of them stuck,
- 18:04a lot of them didn't, and for a while, I was like,
- 18:07oh, the Vince Thorn thing. Didn't take that shame. He was
- 18:08really good in swingers, and then he started making comedy. He started making
- 18:12those frat boy comedies like Old School and wedding Crashes, and they was like,
- 18:17yeah, that's why we like Ben Wilson. He did essentially yeah,
- 18:21yeah, and Will Ferrell and all that kind of stuff. And for a
- 18:25while there he was very popular again and then started to fade for a bit.
- 18:27Didn't he date Jeff fer Innison getting back to Yeah, he did because
- 18:32they were in a very good movie about their breakup called The Breakup, and
- 18:34it was about them breaking up after they've broken up. I think I don't
- 18:38know if they if they broke up during the making of it or something like
- 18:41that, but maybe maybe life imitates art or something. Yeah, it was
- 18:47a bit like that. It's a good movie. Yeah, I mean,
- 18:48I've got time for Vince Vaughn, but yeah, he's one of those guys
- 18:52it seems hard to It's like, are you a star? But maybe you
- 18:56work better in you know, as he said support roles. Who can tell?
- 19:00But I think I know I don't want him at some god awful seminar
- 19:06like speaking business. Look at the pink he try and pitch me time ship
- 19:11exactly right. Oh you know, try the Vin's Barn sponge drink Prime.
- 19:18Try. Don We went to our friend's place on the weekend and they go
- 19:22kids who one's I believe eight or nine, one's seven and one's four,
- 19:27and they're all drinking Prime. The whole family is like drinking Prime, like
- 19:30I want the pink, I want this, and they're all like they're like
- 19:33obsessed Prime drinkers. And I was like, okay, so I can see
- 19:38in my head, I'm thinking marketing genius. I certainly I thought you were
- 19:41making up Prime. But Prime is an actual drink. It's Logan Paul's energy
- 19:45drink. Of course it is. Oh my gosh. So people rag on
- 19:49the Paul brothers. They are fucking they're marketing geniuses. They've they unlocked the
- 19:53matrix. I don't understand that. I'm I'm not going to say wow,
- 19:59Jake and lerg and there my twin gurus. They know how to play this
- 20:02crack the world, mate. Yeah, they fucking worked it. Even if
- 20:07is it a pro wrestler now boxing wrestling, even if Mike Tyson punches a
- 20:11hole straight through his head. He'll have enough money to rebuild his head just
- 20:18from that fight. Yeah, they have cracked the code of the twenty first
- 20:22century media. Well, they got into the YouTube thing when before everyone else
- 20:27was doing it star and they've evolved along the way as well. He's at
- 20:32the stepping stone. Not much, but plus, either Jake or Logan is
- 20:37married to like the Swedish supermodel named Nina Agdale who was just like hotter than
- 20:41Kay and Pepper. I'm pretty sure one of them was married to a former
- 20:42porn star as well, dating a former porn star to reach their rown.
- 20:48Anyway, well done to them. Hey, friends of the pod, come
- 20:49on the show. Yeah, what were we talking about Vince Born? I
- 20:52don't know, but we're getting back to it though. What else I really
- 20:55enjoyed from this one? Oh? Yeah, he was in Mister and Missus
- 20:56Smith. Yes, I liked dan Southern Bowel voice, and I thought it
- 21:03had a nice payoff that he came to the door as Lincoln. That funny
- 21:07expecting this woman he's Abraham Lincoln and saying the South shll rise again. Just
- 21:14it's all silliness. But I just really like Dan doing the Southern balm.
- 21:18I really only have one more thing that I liked, not a bit so
- 21:22much. And I'm trying to recall if this was actually a lift from another
- 21:26movie. I think it might have been. But during a heck house,
- 21:30the kids are running wild. Oh, how are we going to discipline these
- 21:32kids who have gone Halloween crazy? Then you've got ned sort of in the
- 21:36shadow. I can help you. I always like a charismatic trickster who comes
- 21:38to town and like, OK, I can fix that up for you,
- 21:41And it's quint from Jews. They end up telling you a monorail or some
- 21:47sit like that. Speaking of tribute to Phil Hartman, it is twenty six
- 21:52years this week that he unfortunately passed away quarter of a century and passed away
- 21:56slash was murdered. Yeah, it's passed away indicates peacefully. This was the
- 22:02opposite thereof quarter of a century. We still miss you, Phil. Yes,
- 22:04the Simpsons misses him dearly. Absolutely, popular culture misses him now.
- 22:08I also want to point out, so it's been common knowledge for a while.
- 22:12It's common knowledge. It's been written on the internet for a while now.
- 22:15There's an episode of Fish Courts Some with the Troy mclauy episode Planet of
- 22:18the Apes where he marries Selma, right, and Fat Tony makes has a
- 22:22line in that episode where he says, no, I said he slips with
- 22:23the fishes. Right. That wasn't voiced by Joe Montagnan. Oh my gosh.
- 22:29They have said that. They thought, since there's only one line,
- 22:32we're not going to drag Joe all the way in to the studio for one
- 22:33line. He's up to that point. Fat Tony had had bits in the
- 22:37episode, right, so they had a person filling in. Up to this
- 22:40point, everyone's always assumed it was Phil Hartman that did that, right.
- 22:44I've said all the Simpsons wikis, all the ones that do the do their
- 22:48research or not just Wikipedia, Simpsons wiki everything, Phil Harmon has videos on
- 22:52YouTube. Blah blahlah blah. Turns out apparently it wasn't Phil Hartman. It
- 22:56was Hank Gazaria. And if you listen to it, it sounds like a
- 22:59Moe doing that Tony when when you know it's Hank. Because Bill Oakley replied
- 23:03to our tweet about it, because I put a post up a bit too,
- 23:07Phil Hartman, I put fat Tony in there. It's a little like
- 23:08I did that that sort of people gone, well, you wonder well actually,
- 23:15and it turns out I was wrong because Bill Oakley went on there and
- 23:18went, I'm pretty sure that's Hank, and I'm like, well, you
- 23:21were there at the time, you probably if you trusts Bill. So it
- 23:26turns out as probably Hank's out. But I've said, hey, we need
- 23:29to settle this, Hank, Hank was this you? The only way to
- 23:32know is if Hank says it was him or not. Indeed, yes,
- 23:34So we shall find out. We'll keep you guys updated if he does get
- 23:37back to us. Okay, Bill, if you could also get back to
- 23:38us if you're not eating every fast food in the mirror. He is eating
- 23:41a lot of food at the moment. He is indeed good on it,
- 23:45living the dream he's living. Him and the Paul brothers, they've worked it
- 23:47out. They've worked it out. Yes, So yeah, but that's that
- 23:49were my favorite bits. I just liked ned sort of slinking out of the
- 23:52shadows of charismatic trickster. You remind me a bit of very old school reference.
- 23:57But Robert Mitcham in Night of the Hunter, a fantastic movie and one
- 24:02of the great all time great screen villain. Alright, there's now time for
- 24:14the stonecuts. But before we talk about our stonecuts, mister David, we
- 24:17have mister David, mister Davis, we have a very special you are you
- 24:21podcasting with someone else? What's his quote from They Live? Keith David?
- 24:25Oh that you dirty motherfucker, dirty motherfucker. We have a special shout out
- 24:30for our man Andrew Swan, patron of the show, friend of the show.
- 24:33But he a few weeks ago, I would say maybe even two or
- 24:36three months ago. It was about eleven thirty at night. I went to
- 24:38share one of our podcasts on the Facebook page, right, where's the story
- 24:41going? And I realized that the website had gone down. Our host who
- 24:45have been hosting the web website since the beginning twenty fifteen, they just decided
- 24:49I wouldn't do it that anymore. I'm getting out of the website hosting.
- 24:55I message guys like, guys, I am not doing that anymore. I've
- 24:56just I've just closed it all down. I'm like, so bad's would have
- 25:00been much appreciated. So I know you're not doing it, but we're still
- 25:03doing a website. So I'm thinking it's my website because the website was still
- 25:06there. I could still log into it, but it just wasn't visible on
- 25:08four figure discount dot com today. You the back end was still there,
- 25:11but the actual website. So I was like, ink, you please help,
- 25:14And at like eleven forty five at night, he got up and he
- 25:17fixed the forest and you got it straight away. You got to fix to
- 25:18me about half an hour. So what an absolute legend. So thank you
- 25:22Andrew for fixing a website. The reason the website is still there is because
- 25:26of you. Oh the Swan man, and it's his birthday next week,
- 25:29so happy birthday. Oh, it's his birthday and we got the present exactly
- 25:33right. And he is also for not only us, but for all you
- 25:36listening out there. Now he has fixed the emails. So mail Bag at
- 25:41four finger discount dot com dot au is officially back. Dan them at fourfing
- 25:45a discount dot com dot you is around, and guy at fourfing a discount
- 25:48dot com to you is around. So if you want to hang shit on
- 25:49me and only most message guy, it's this guy at fourfing a discount dot
- 25:53com today you or vice versa. But we know that would never happen.
- 25:56Yes, But Mailbag at fourthing a discount dot com you. The reason I
- 26:00stress this is because now, as we mentioned on last week's show, we're
- 26:02not doing a mailbag segment on every single episode anymore. On the final Friday
- 26:06of every month, what's that? Oh? I thought I heard screams from
- 26:10Andrew JP he'll be shadowon't He just sends to disturbing all JP all the time.
- 26:22So the final Friday of every month, you're going to get a bonus
- 26:26mailbag only episode. So we thought people are getting a bit tired of having
- 26:30to think of questions that are based solely on the episode. So mailbag at
- 26:34four finger discount, dot com, dot you. We want to hear from
- 26:37every single one of you. And if you have been emailing to Simpson's mailbag
- 26:41at gmail, dot com, dot you, that's also going to be going
- 26:44through to the mailbag in box now, so don't worry if you've sent emails
- 26:45in the past, we'll be getting all those as well. So mailbag at
- 26:48four finger discount, dot com dot you is the new email if you want
- 26:51to get in touch with us, and we do want to hear from every
- 26:52one of you, so we can have a really fun mailbag segment at the
- 26:56each of every month. All right, so now time for some shoutouts.
- 26:59We've got Katig. Of course, next week's our big lunch date. Oh
- 27:00my goodness, I felt next week's show just has to be a review of
- 27:03our dinner pretty much, Katie dinner lunch. I mean, have we worked

- 29:08We're very happy to have you here. Next question, you there eating
- 29:12the baste. What's your first question for me? Stam's Oh yeah, we're
- 29:15doing trivia. Okay, Marge sticks Jack Bow to the fridge using what is
- 29:22it a what's a magnet of some kind? It is a magnet, yes,
- 29:26something that the kids made, nop. But what is it? It
- 29:29is a watermelon? A watermelon? All right. My first question for you
- 29:33is when do kange codis in their alien race watch Colombo. That's a very
- 29:37good question, that's right. We watch Colombo during something something of something something.
- 29:41Oh yeah, because there's rainouts of something. Yeah, when there's rainouts
- 29:45at the gleek clock game. Yeah. Your day's question, Uh, what
- 29:52is Homer's code name? Slash Weight? Oh that's one of my favorite moments.
- 29:56I not favorite, but I enjoyed this. It's two forty one,
- 29:59but I just light the way. It's like you think it's his name?
- 30:00What is? You always bring up? My point and my next question for
- 30:03you, that one was actually one of my questions as well. What does
- 30:07Fox now own the newest member of the club. It's the Wallso journal correct.
- 30:11One more and one last question for you. How many banknotes are in
- 30:17the stripper's G string when when Moe is enjoying a bit of battle entertainment.
- 30:22Oh, I'm going to say six. There are three? Three. I
- 30:25need to lift the game. You're not shaking it. You're not checking that
- 30:29money maker? No, no, no, all right. So the original
- 30:32air day of Trios of Horror eighteen was November fourth, two thousand and seven.
- 30:36Production code j ab F one six, written by Mark Willmore and directed
- 30:40by Chuck Sheets. I guess appears by Maurice Lamash again apparently indeed saw his
- 30:44name in the credits. Did her voice in this? You should, says
- 30:45Maurice LaMarsh as someone does. But he's getting so familiar around Simpsons HQ and
- 30:51just said he's in the show a lot from now, right, maybe he's
- 30:52doing more than one boys. Maybe maybe so. All right, So the
- 30:56episode kicks off with Mars doing an intro and I quite like this because it's
- 31:00just a a bit of nostalgia for me, because the Transport episodes used to
- 31:03always begin with Marge saying, put the kids away, it's gonna be more
- 31:06violent. You don't want to watching this, And as a kid watching it,
- 31:08he sort of went, I'm gonna watch it anyway, but thanks for
- 31:11the hands up. It sort of prepared you for Okay, this isn't going
- 31:15to be a normal Simpsons. Yeah, you don't necessarily have to follow the
- 31:18trigger warning, but sometimes it's nice to have a trigger. Yeah. Yeah.
- 31:22And see she kills up or cuts up all the various promos it his
- 31:26prison, break House House twenty four and Monday Night Football yeah of some kind.
- 31:32Yeah, and then she chops on and puts me in the meatloaf and
- 31:33Homer eats them. So the first segment is et go home, and I
- 31:37remember being super excited for this. I'll bet you were Marge's cooking burnt cream.
- 31:41Burnt cream. I thought, here, guys not gonna appreciate her use
- 31:47of the term caramelize, and so I've always said caramelized. Yeah, our
- 31:51American friends seem to have taken the A out of caramel and they've put it
- 31:56in paraplegic, because I'm hearing a lot of Americans say he's a paraplegic,
- 32:00really paraplegic? Yeah? Is that the same as people who say bisketty just
- 32:05it could just have said it that way their whole life and you can't tell
- 32:07them otherwise. It's it's possible. It's like me trying to get my head
- 32:09around the fact that it's not Segar. It's Sega my entire life. I've
- 32:13always said Segar, That's just how it's written, right, But Nicola's like,
- 32:16no, it's Sega. And I've had other notes it's Sega. I'm
- 32:19thinking, is it? Yeah? Okay, have you not listened to that
- 32:22House of Song where it's like as if he lay but but it sounds like
- 32:27he says Sega, as if my name was Sega. Is it my name
- 32:30was Sega? Sega, Sega? Anyway, my whole off I've said Segar.
- 32:32So now I'm going to try and train my brain to go No,
- 32:36it's Sagan, like an idiot. Yeah, what do I say? Sagan?
- 32:38Now? It just feels wrong, It feels weird. Yeah. Do
- 32:42you think it'd be as popular if his name was Stephen Siegeal? No?
- 32:45No cigar again again? Oh my goodness, I don't believe anymore. But
- 32:52she sends Bardett to get some butane. My god, an alien in our
- 33:01butteen storage shed cloth to But is that your space name? No? You
- 33:07hit me in my seven hundred testicles? Why did you come to our world?
- 33:12My friends? And I came in peace to find your vulnerabilities and shore
- 33:16them up with more peace. Yes, then I was accidentally left behind,
- 33:22you know, spirit up peace basically, you know from the get go he's
- 33:27not going to be here to actually bring peace. Yeah. I think that
- 33:30was another issue that I have with you to go home, is that it's
- 33:32it's I know they've only got a few minutes to set it all up,
- 33:37but it's just so blatant from the jump that he's the bad guy. There's
- 33:40no twisters. Yeah, and there's no should have been a twist letter on
- 33:43it, should should be playing up? No, he's he's eight. It's
- 33:45basically the same story. And all of a sudden, when we think Et
- 33:49is good, no, or you just get these subtle hints there was like
- 33:53when have a good reason? He could have had, you know when the
- 33:57in the movie when the government comes to take him away. So basically the
- 34:00government come and they said it, but no, this isn't the first time
- 34:01one of these these people have come to this world. You just have not
- 34:04you haven't known about it. These guys are here to kill us. And
- 34:06he's like, no way, I don't believe you. And then he turns
- 34:08on Bart. Yeah, or Bart has been so or Bart convinces him to
- 34:13turn on his own race or something. Always been so indoctrinated by Et that
- 34:16he could be as blatant as he likes about we're here to destroy the planet
- 34:21and you know enslavey all blah blah blah. No, oh what but he's
- 34:24my friend. He's clearly lying. His gun falls out. He says it's
- 34:30deerdorant, so he shoots himself and hurts himself. Then Bart shows off his
- 34:34toys, which is one of my favorite scenes in ET when he's just basically
- 34:37just said to Henry Thomas, here's a bunch of toys on the table.
- 34:38Talk to Et as if you're just found it alien. I'm like, it
- 34:42just feels very real. Spielbeg. The way he directed that film, it
- 34:45was just perfect, the sense there. It's one of a kids perspective.
- 34:47The entire film. You never see an adult's face until the end, except
- 34:51for the mother. It's always from like the waist down when it comes from
- 34:53an adult, but it's just he let the kids be kids. Yeah,
- 34:57so good with kid actors. Spilberg, I mean, it was really he
- 35:00may still be one of his great traits. But yeah, discovering Henry Thomas
- 35:05the way he did bringing Christians that audition tape is unbelievable. It's really incredible.
- 35:08Yeah, I mean I think we've talked about it more than once on
- 35:09the show, but yeah, find it on YouTube, and yeah, just
- 35:14have a look at a little star being born, because I mean, I'm
- 35:16stoked that Henry Thomas is still working. You know, he's just had a
- 35:21really never became like a huge star or anything like that, but he's just
- 35:24worked consistently all the way through, and he's realized now he can work the
- 35:27concertcut. He's working the concircuit like a madman and making all the money for
- 35:30us. So good for him getting all the moneies well down, Henry t
- 35:32Yes, so. But he's showing off all the toys and we see the
- 35:36who is Jim Hatelman? Is that just because it's like it's a local car
- 35:38deal. I don't know where it was actual person in real life, but
- 35:40you had him. He's the bubble head who has a weak neck? Do
- 35:43all humans have weak next? Is what he asks. Then Lisa enters,
- 35:45which is meant to be a take of when Drew Barronmore's character walks in the
- 35:49season Yes, Gertie, which was a scener scare the shit out of me
- 35:52as a kid. Oh, he goes yes, yeah, yeah, the
- 35:57net goes up and everything. But Lisa enters and she's, oh my god,
- 36:00she's not scared of him at all. She's going to show off and
- 36:00show and tell. And Bart says he can't do it because the scientists will
- 36:04want to dissect him, and then he sings this really weird song. I
- 36:07only hope those scientists leave me my mouth, so I may spread my message
- 36:12of piece through song. Pee peace, peace, peace from space. Not
- 36:22funny at all. It's weird as I was just watching his going this is
- 36:25disappointing. But he says he wants to phone home, and he gives them
- 36:29a list of things that he needs. He needs uranium two, three,
- 36:30five, seven billion body bags. I liked it. The seven body bags.
- 36:35Kids want they kid want to help him out when he's building the They
- 36:37think the phone. But so he throws the wrench for Bart to go get
- 36:42a stract him away, sends Lisa to go locations for the military defense locations
- 36:45which are in the New Yorker yesterday, and then Homer joins Codos in the
- 36:49show. What do you think of this scene? This was somewhat bizarre a
- 36:52little. Yes, there was a line here where he says, I take
- 36:54that silence as always science means it yes. And I was like that a
- 36:57rape gag no means yes. Homer not exactly down with the consent. But
- 37:07he gives him a massage. Someone's taking the Hobite to the danger zone.
- 37:10Not unfunny, and realized that it's not Marge and Marsha's we have to we
- 37:15can't house this alien anymore. He has to leave, and he thinks it's
- 37:17because he's Jewish, and the tricks tricks. Marge goes, look, I'm
- 37:21not touching that. You can stay. Then the government arrive and they want
- 37:24you to take me away because his name is actually codas to the destroyer.
- 37:27But Homer has a plan and let me throw something on. I like that.
- 37:31We know it's Where is it, ma'am? We have reason to believe
- 37:39that you're harboring an alien. Open this door at once. Oh, I'm
- 37:43not decent. Let me throw something on. Can I help you? Gentlemen?
- 37:51We know what's you mister Simpson? Now where's the alien? Whoa?
- 37:53You guys are good aliens right here in the living room. You missed them
- 38:00bagging our alien friend are hundreds of miles away by now what do you weigh?
- 38:08Like a million pounds more of me to love? After them? The
- 38:15self? You rise again? So they're going slowly? Are they chase them?
- 38:20And the et music is playing as they're running away? Did we get
- 38:22a flying bit? I don't think we did. No, I think do
- 38:27they attempt to? So there's the scene in the movie where the army or
- 38:30whatever else got guns and that's when he takes over them. But in the
- 38:35reboot or the re release, it Spillbear did well. Another thing about the
- 38:39changing the gun guns to walking talking and then changing the back to guns.
- 38:43Yeah, you know what I shouldn't do is touch my masterpiece. Some things
- 38:47don't need to be fixed. Yeah, it's a product of its time.
- 38:51How about we just fucking leave it by Stevie Big Steve for his lady's lesson
- 38:54was yeh, talk to your friend, George. Please talk to your buddy.
- 39:00George Lucas still to this day don't understand in twenty twenty four how we
- 39:02haven't had an official release of the original release of Star Wars. Well,
- 39:06it makes no sense. George was at the talk about mispronunciation can or cann
- 39:13film versas. I'm gonna say, can't I just say cahn kid? Yeah,
- 39:15I think it might be cans, but not cans hits those cans,
- 39:21Uh. George Lucas being George Lucas, he rocked up to this, you
- 39:24know, premiere, prestigious European film event in a Flanner, in a Flanneer.
- 39:30Of course he did. George being George, And I think it's o
- 39:32something along the lines of like it's an artist prerogative to change their work as
- 39:36they see fits. So yeah, I don't think we're getting get tweaked divisions
- 39:40forever. Yes, that's fine, but you've never given us the original in
- 39:44high definition. Give us whatever versions you want, buddy, but we still
- 39:47want the original as well. None of us are hoping or wishing for George
- 39:52Lucas to fall off the purge anytime soon. But he doesn't own Star Wars.
- 39:55Here's no right, no saying it anyway now, isn't he all?
- 39:59I think? Yeah, Disney is probably showing a bit of noble so bleached
- 40:02by say well, well bye, by your wishes, George, and then
- 40:05as soon as he's gone, he's like Originas. They were one hundred percent
- 40:08realism in the cinema. That'll be it's milk, Hey, Mark, do
- 40:13you want to drink some more milk? Waiting for someone to make a meme
- 40:19of you? Mark Hamill milking that god awful creature from last year. He's
- 40:23like Disney original you the public we laugh at we will take. If they
- 40:30said real list individuals in the cinema, I'm there, Oh yeah, I
- 40:34am in line, and like we're going to give you the originals in forecast
- 40:38second mom So, yeah, so they're getting away, they see the army
- 40:44in front of them instead of flying over, and this time that has shoot
- 40:45them and killed them. And Bart's like, wait a minute, you just
- 40:47killed them. Yeah, yeah, this is where the heel turn should have
- 40:51been. That's exactly what that should have been, where you go, wait
- 40:52a minute, he is a bad guy. Is the army's actually right here?
- 40:57Yeah, but no, they made it too obvious from the beginning.
- 41:00So they started the device and actually a phone, it's a portal. He's
- 41:02tricked them here even that could have been that that should have been the gun
- 41:06shooting there should have been the first going wait a minute here, And then
- 41:08he really reveals no this entire time because there was no shock in this moment,
- 41:14was there not at all? Because you saw it coming man, Yeah,
- 41:15it was so bizarre. But he's let the portal open up all the
- 41:19aliens to come through, and then Homer just arrives roundom Me in a helicopter
- 41:22with everyone and they just start shooting them all straight away. Yeah. Now,
- 41:27what was the point I'm thinking of. They didn't get the upper hand
- 41:31adult they came to the portal and just died. This is mostly an ET
- 41:35parody, but I'm trying to remember if at the end of Independence Day,
- 41:37I mean, it's all it's all soldiers, isn't I mean, you don't
- 41:39have any Although yeah, Randy Quad is flying one of them, isn't he
- 41:43He's the one that saves the day? He does. Yeah. I'm wondering
- 41:45if it was sort of eating assholes. Oh god, I'm wondering if it
- 41:52was sort of a take on that where it's like, oh, you know,
- 41:54every day humans are coming to say the day and everybody wants to take
- 41:58part, and you know, save it's just with the military. That's just
- 42:00with the military. No, okay, get home there and then and then
- 42:05is shooting them all the codos tries to trick Bart Bart friend and Homas's home
- 42:09on board and he shoots him, and then we get them dissecting him.
- 42:13But it's not a dissection. Is a vivisection. It's a vivisection, which
- 42:16it's cruel and black. I find it kind of funny. I would I
- 42:21would buy it in another scenario, or even in a properly executed version of
- 42:25this scenario, you know, where it's like, oh, no, we're
- 42:30you know, we're welcoming people to our planet and blah, and we're always
- 42:32going to look out for you know, our alien friends, and no vivisecting.
- 42:37Yeah, but then Homer just smothers him with a pillow and that's that.
- 42:42It was so at You should see the look of disappointment on Dande's phone
- 42:47because ET is one of my favorite endings of all time. Like when you
- 42:51think of feel good, send the audience home, happy endings, doesn't get
- 42:52much better than ET, not a whole lot. It's and I love the
- 42:55way that Spielberg knew that that was the moment to end it, even though
- 43:00it's a bittersweet because you know, the friends are separating, but he's going
- 43:02home. Yes there's an alternate ending, not alternate, but they actually had
- 43:06a different ending which they cut at the last minute. Of the kids used
- 43:10to have the rainbow bit right. It takes from the rainbow and cast to
- 43:14Henry Thomas's face. He's looking up of a big smile. Then it would
- 43:16fade to them playing dungeons and drags where it was in the garage again,
- 43:20and it pans up to the roof and the phone that he built on the
- 43:22roof and it's it's communicating still and he's like he's still communicating with et Stillberg
- 43:28was smut off to go, No, that's the crescendo. Let's end it
- 43:31there. We don't need let people make it up for themselves. Very very
- 43:36important to stick stick the ending because I'm me. I rewatched Robo Cop the
- 43:42other night and that just ends so perfectly because I have not watched it yet.
- 43:45Okay, well I'm not going to say anything. Okay, great ending
- 43:49if you know, you know, okay, yeah, because it doesn't.
- 43:51It doesn't fuck around. It's just like this is it. This is the
- 43:53end. Yeah, credits because the way the way they end et you are
- 43:58left going, oh, I wonder if he does get touch again. It's
- 44:00nice. Well yeah. A good version of that alternate ending is in The
- 44:06Iron Giant. Yes exactly. It's like, oh no, he's been blown
- 44:08apart. I've learned a lesson and you know, all this kind of stuff,
- 44:10and he yeah, he went out like Superman Superman. Yeah, good
- 44:15god, such a great movie. He's like behind you, yeah, hey,
- 44:20g my boy. But then to have at the end of that,
- 44:24yeah, a touch of hope. Yes, Oh that's nice. Yeah,
- 44:29yeah, that's good. So we cat to the next segment. It's mister
- 44:31and Missus Simpson and the therapy. As you said that said the film starts.
- 44:35I can remember it now that you've said that. I'm sitting on the
- 44:37couch annoyed with each other. You see, the problem is we've grown apart.
- 44:43The problem is you don't share my interest in not being with you.
- 44:47Good line. I think it's a pretty good line. Home at night though,
- 44:52he's put the curtain to the bathroom and mister Burns is there, and
- 44:55he thinks he's been all secretive that marsh doesn't know about all thistuff, which
- 44:59she doesn't know about it. I but she's living the double life as well.
- 45:02And he says that he wants him to kill Kent Brockman because he found
- 45:07him dumping Letricity in the gully to jack up the prices. Seems him just
- 45:09dump Lightning Bolts. I thought, that's so stupid, but so funny.
- 45:13I'm buying this. Yeah, it's so outrageous. As we've said many times
- 45:19before, it transposed that gag and put it in like season seven. Yeah,
- 45:22it's pretty funny. Yeah, that's been Bolts. That's nicely absurd.
- 45:29Yes, yeah, yeah, Homer says, you know, I'm going to
- 45:31be home late tonight, and she says so will she And have fun doing
- 45:34your crazy sounding thing. Meanwhile, at the Springfield Tuxeda Owners honor of Kent
- 45:38Brockman, Homer arrives with his sniper and all I have to do is think
- 45:43of for clever line, but don't have to say by myself taking the mickey
- 45:45of action films. Absolutely, I don't get why do we fall for that?
- 45:51Is it just because it's just fun cinema? It is? And I
- 45:54was talking with friend of the pod Charlie Clawson the other day. We're doing
- 45:58a a few bits on his podcast about nineties action movies, but we're talking
- 46:02about Diehard Too, and sudden that, yeah, I'm to remember this came
- 46:07up. But you know Bruce Willison in Diehard Too, he's on the wing,
- 46:12he's in his last fight with the Final Boss or whatever. He's about
- 46:14to kick him off, and he says something like he says, yippyk a
- 46:16motherfucker, which has become the unofficial catchphrase of Diehard of the die Hard franchise.
- 46:22It works in die Hard one because they've been having the whole cowboy thing
- 46:24going on. What He never alludes to it at all in Diehard Too,
- 46:28but he just says at the end because I'm sure that the studio said,
- 46:30you know, Bruce, they really they really liked it when he said,
- 46:34yipp ka, motherfucker was okay, fine, we'll give you an extra two
- 46:38million, do okay? Fine? You could have asked for anything for Diehard
- 46:43too, right, don't you? Reckon? I was because he got five
- 46:45million for die Hard one and he only got seven and a half million for
- 46:49Dieharden. Really only seven and a half. You think it'd be at least
- 46:52double, you think so. I don't know how much he got for the
- 46:54rest, but it's probably obscene amounts. He probably got. Jake Paul money
- 47:00prime prime mans. You would drink a Bruce Willis energy drink right, Oh,
- 47:08I drink Bruno. I drink Bruce Willis prune juice called Bruno Bruno.
- 47:17Another idea, that's make it happen. Let let's make it happen. Bruce
- 47:21gonn't hang on note, oh boy, cut that out, zact. I'm
- 47:27honestly going to try some prime. Yeah. Well, I've been told because
- 47:30I will telling us about what's the taste, Like I said, it's kind
- 47:32of kind of like a like a milky energy drink. Like it's it's not
- 47:37like your Gatorway is thicker than that. I was like, oh, okay,
- 47:40okay, I don't want some, but it sounds like soilent. Yeah,
- 47:45I don't know, but it's huge. People love it so but it's
- 47:47also because it's associated with Jeep par as well and Logan Paul. So anyway,
- 47:52try something. Let us know the next episode what will what will the
- 47:53four finger Discount energy Drink be called? We'll come back to him next week.
- 47:59We'll be a good title. Also, you guys do that take ad
- 48:01mom to these new email addresses? Yeah, mailbag at four figure discount dot
- 48:05com dot au. So basically, the woman gets in the way when he
- 48:08tries to kill Ken Brockman, and out of the way mystery skank, she
- 48:12shanks Ken Brockman. It's like, oh my, and it turns out well,
- 48:15he shoots random people here and ends up shooting the wig off of her.
- 48:19I thought there was a visual here where he shoots a guy in the
- 48:21head and the blood fills up the glasses. There is that is violent?
- 48:23That is Yeah, he's Champagne found. Yeah, she throws an injustart at
- 48:30her first, Missus n gets in the head. Then he shoots the wig
- 48:31off and well we can tell here that as Marge. But he gets home
- 48:37and I like that the wig has a hole in it. Me, I
- 48:42made you my killer, Lasonia. It's poison. Whatever you do, don't
- 48:47eat it. Okay you're already eating it, but don't finish it. Okay,
- 48:53you finished it, but don't ask for a tucking please you moron,
- 48:58just killer. I'll kill her after dessert. You're a killer for haiha.
- 49:05You ruined that pie. I just enjoyed that. I thought it was simple,
- 49:09but it felt like classic Homer. And then basically they realize here that
- 49:13they're both assassins and they try to kill each other. That's pretty much happens
- 49:16in the film. Just a big shoot off, a big fight. Absolutely
- 49:20yeah, which yeah, I mean, I'm not sure how it played back
- 49:22in two thousand and whenever, when I mean, because it's pretty violent in
- 49:25mister and missus Smith when they're actually kicking the shit out of each other.
- 49:29Here's another simpsonized version. You didn't tell me, I did. I told
- 49:31you twenty times, but they've cut bits out of the mister and missus Smith
- 49:37fire directly into the mister. Certainly the bit where Home is kicking the couch.
- 49:42I mean, yeah, that's Brad kicking Angelina Jolie. Yeah, I
- 49:45did like him kicking the catch. That was pretty funny because your favorite couch,
- 49:49That's why I'm kicking it. Then Marsha's basically she makes fifty k for
- 49:54every job, and he only gets what he finds in the guy's wallet,
- 50:00and then he kicks the couch and then the kids come down. I think
- 50:04they're fighting over them. But whatever we did, we're sorry. And I
- 50:07was like, that's a really sad line. Whatever we did with sorry,
- 50:09Yeah, because kids blame themselves, you know these things. Homer suggests they
- 50:13get ice cream. Then Wigham arrives, Marge shoots him, and they make
- 50:16love over his corpse. That not happen in the movie to the best of
- 50:22my recollection, but he says, I love walk before that before they make
- 50:25love. I love watching you do other guys. I love seeing you do
- 50:29other I love seeing you do another guy sometime too. And I was like,
- 50:31oh shit, holy moly, there's fun bits. That's a pretty raunchy
- 50:37line for the Simpsons. I've seen you do other guys. Between that and
- 50:42Codo is putting a tentacle where the sun doesn't shots yea the danger zone,
- 50:45a little racy. Yeah yeah so that yeah, sex with Wigham's corpse.
- 50:49Things turn things have turned up now for the sex life. And it turns
- 50:52out that it's not another Simpsons version, another Simpsons eyes version of the other
- 50:55of the movie. It's not therapy, it's shit his office and they shoot
- 51:00Skinner. Also where Homer said, all right, let's let's make a deal.
- 51:05I'll do the killing for her. Used to with the kids. So
- 51:09you enjoyed it more than you thought I did that. I just tho that
- 51:13segment in particular was really stood out for me. So now it's heck house
- 51:15and we get the trick or treating that Agnes. Agnes is just a cow,
- 51:20but I love her for it. She just gives no fucks. Here's
- 51:22Candy right here, just spits in his bag. I was like, holy
- 51:24ship woman did they be like holy? What the fuck? But it leads
- 51:29into something very very important, very valuable, but has a real point regarding
- 51:34trick or treat I mean, I think we've forgotten the actual meaning of the
- 51:36same exactly. Yeah. I mean if you don't get treated, then you
- 51:38get tricked. Ye. No, yeah, if I don't get treated,
- 51:42you get trick. It's just it's it's just become a new version of how
- 51:45to say hello on halloweens. No, no trick or treat. Yeah,
- 51:49we're about to make a deal, treat or ship on your doorst and not
- 51:54my shit. Probably maybe we said shit or treat people, go Jesus,
- 51:59treat much a treat, candy your crap? Yeah, she empty bagged us.
- 52:04Why do we do now, hear me out. Seems to me we
- 52:07gave her a choice trick or treat. She didn't give us a treat.
- 52:10So Bart, where are you heading with this? Trick or treat isn't just
- 52:15some phrase you chant mindlessly like the Lord's prayer. It's an oral contract.
- 52:19You're right, we've forgotten the old ways, the ways of rotten eggs and
- 52:22soaked up windows. I say we trick her, trick her good. Yes,
- 52:29then we get the montage with let's scrape up from the Ramones one of
- 52:31Holly's favorite songs. Oh for real, Holly fucking loves the Ramones. That
- 52:36and rockaway Bach. She just loves them. Lets we broke to some one
- 52:38that starts with hay har let's it's this song? Yeah, hey, oh,
- 52:42let's go. She calls it AO, Let's go. Yeah, good
- 52:45honor. That's so easy to sing along too, that the rest of us
- 52:46just goes eh, oh yeah, well I never knew the lyrics. Oh,
- 52:52let's go. The kids love it, mate, al right, get
- 52:55on to get onto. Judy was a punk, now got onto the Beatles.
- 53:00Guess what her favorite song is? Is it Tomorrow? Never knows?
- 53:01No, it's baby You're a rich Man. I'm like, one of the
- 53:06most obscure fucking songs, one of my favorite songs. That's so stupid,
- 53:08that song, but it's so great and it reminds me of the end of
- 53:10the Social Network when he realizes, yeah, oh fuck, I'm rich now.
- 53:15Yeah. But she just sits that she baby are a bitch. She
- 53:17loves it. Holy give a little rock star mate. Nice? That so
- 53:22t rex Mark Bowlin, The Beatles, and the remains of her three favorites.
- 53:27Holy, my three requests that every time we get in the car,
- 53:29You've done well. She throws out wheels on the bus and I'm like,
- 53:32bitch, we passed that ship, we ran that bus off the rule.
- 53:43So Springfield is now mostly destroyed by the kids trick or treating or just tricking,
- 53:46and everyone's off screwed. They're annoyed. They go to Homer's house to
- 53:52vent their anger. Finally we get a fucking Spider Pig reference. So you're
- 53:55taking you what five episodes? He should be part of the show, now
- 53:59you think so, Well, maybe they realized a little spider Pig goes a
- 54:02long way. Yeah, but he still needs to If it's just in the
- 54:06background, just acknowledge, just acknowledge that the movie existed, you know.
- 54:10And how would you feel if, at some stage during this tree House of
- 54:15Horror one in the not too distant future, the Simpsons are enjoying a lovely
- 54:22pork chops meal it turns out to be Spider pick. I wouldn't like it?
- 54:25Okay, would you like it? Again? Depends on how it's executed
- 54:29and mean, if it's if it's just a non cannontry house of horror,
- 54:31so be it. But I don't think you can have canon where they home
- 54:35ends up eating Spider pick. I don't know, have it as like a
- 54:38is it Hannibal with feed the Brain, feeding a pig pork. That's it's
- 54:47a bit. Yeah, south Park can get away with Scott Tenement must Dike
- 54:51coming up soon, Yeah, going down to South Park. I believe it
- 54:53may be up now if you're a supporter on Patreon. If you're not,
- 54:59depending on when you're hearing this. Well, we're not fans of Laura and
- 55:01Canon four figured this game, but yeah, continuity. Mitch did write a
- 55:08We worked together on it. I pitched your idea and he sort of ran
- 55:10with it for our book. I was obnestly back in twenty seventeen when the
- 55:14book came out, we wrote our own traus of horror segments and it was
- 55:16Jurassic Pork and Spider Pig gets cloned and then in the end, Homer has
- 55:22to eat all of the clones. Yeah, so it's kind of kind of
- 55:24like that. Yeah. I remember reading that recently, went back in the
- 55:28tins. It was last transpar and I'm reading these segments, going, these
- 55:31are better than anything I've watched this year in trans Drussy Pork would work all
- 55:36right, Well, you're in touch with Bill, Yeah, he probably still
- 55:38knows someone at the Bill Oakley, no it's funny. Someone asked him this
- 55:43week, we were you bought him for the Simpsons movie, and he goes,
- 55:45no, if there's a Simps sequel, would you be borting as we
- 55:47would one hundred percent not be brought in because we haven't worked on the show
- 55:51for twenty five years. How the fuck would I know what the show is
- 55:53doing these days? Because he says he doesn't watch a show anymore. He's
- 55:57just He openly states, I don't I have notion with the Simptons anymore.
- 56:00Too busy steaming those hands? What a what? Like? It's just crazy
- 56:07how the world works. For twenty years, his association with the Simpsons was
- 56:12just forgotten. You know, it was just not forgotten. That's the wrong
- 56:15term. But you know, if you're a fan, you knew, right.
- 56:17But because of steamed Hams in the mean culture of that, he's built
- 56:21an entire career on that. He now has a think of the Steamed ham
- 56:24society does like he's well, like, that's just crazy, hout mean culture
- 56:29has helped this guy create a new way of life. We should get to
- 56:34work on some memes, Yeah, falling discap memes. Yeah, let's wrap
- 56:39up this this hack house though, so basically they've they've been ruining everybody.
- 56:43Homer's head goes at Spider PEG's arse. I'm like, that's going to be
- 56:45painful for the pig. I get there and then we're meant to go,
- 56:49Oh geez, how terrible for Home. So this poor pick has a head
- 56:52and its anus. It's entire bodies and compassed by Home's head. Now a
- 56:55lot of a lot of rectal humor this episode, but which I mean two
- 57:00incidents Flannder's office. He's helped though and arrive at hack House, and he
- 57:04really like goes all the way with it, doesn't he? Oh yeah,
- 57:07that's I mean, yeah, yeah, I mean these hell houses they tend
- 57:10to go all out. Yeah, scaring cats, not wanted. But I
- 57:14love that he puts his welcome to eternal darrination. Yes, got a kick
- 57:21out of it, and he asked because it's not working. He goes,
- 57:22oh God, grab me the power to psychologically torture them. Meant to loving
- 57:25you and now it's hell house and basically showing off the results of the seven
- 57:30Deadly sins. And don't forget that great line when he died as he lived.
- 57:36Oh hang on, is it? Nelson he says that he died as
- 57:37he lived like a dog. I think that might have been Nelson, but
- 57:40I know someone says here, but no, it was Lisa. Lisa,
- 57:44I have tried to warn you yet I've been punished just as severe. But
- 57:49they show the results of the seven Deadly Sins. It just felt like it
- 57:52just didn't go off the rails a bit, and I just thought, what
- 57:53are we doing here? Yeah, I don't know. So they're showing gluttony
- 57:57time with a spaghetti turns into spaghetti. There is one vi here that was
- 58:00pretty gruesome. So the anger is Willy Pride is him being something run over
- 58:07a truck. Yeah, hivot, he gets run over a truck sloth.
- 58:10This is Homer laying down on the hammock and he slices through it. Oh
- 58:14yeah, that was Nahly And then Lusk greed Envy all. I like that
- 58:21they fit all the last three in to mow and the kids then all agree
- 58:24to only pray and fight in wars, and Fanners says that we're gonna be
- 58:30going to help for watching Fox. The Fox now is Fox Sports FX and
- 58:32the Wall Street Journal. Welcome to the club. And that's the end of
- 58:36the episode. So definitely for me, mister mister Simpson was the best segment.
- 58:39ET was a I'm not gonna say a complete disappointment, but it's just
- 58:43the disappointing factor of it was the fact that you know that they could have
- 58:45done so much more with it. We literally had not brainstormed anything prior to
- 58:49recording today, and we come up with like six or seven I reckon at
- 58:52least better ideas, just a better concept in general. Yeah, either for
- 58:57the for a segment or within the second if you have a twist, if
- 59:00we do say so ourselves that we came up with better yea, because if
- 59:04you're gonna have the twist factor of him being actually evil not good like ET
- 59:07was build up to that fool less with the twist, Yeah, I mean,
