- 0:12- Welcome to the divine five one five podcast.
- 0:16- Here is today's prayer.
- 0:22- Hello, and welcome to daily prayers with Valerie
- 0:25- Rocha.
- 0:26- Today's prayer focus is talking about trusting God
- 0:30- when you want control.
- 0:32- Scripture text comes from Proverbs three five through
- 0:35- six and says, trust in the Lord with
- 0:37- all your heart
- 0:38- and lean not to your own understanding.
- 0:42- Well, you know, control can disguise itself as
- 0:45- responsibility.
- 0:48- We tell ourselves we're just being prepared,
- 0:51- but sometimes we're trying to manage the people,
- 0:54- circumstances,
- 0:56- timing, and outcomes around us
- 0:59- because uncertainty makes us uncomfortable.
- 1:03- And let's be honest,
- 1:05- it can also be the result of maybe
- 1:08- being emotionally
- 1:09- or spiritually injured as well.
- 1:13- And yet the more uncertain life becomes,
- 1:16- the tighter we wanna hold on.
- 1:20- Control gives us the feeling
- 1:22- that we're protecting ourselves good
- 1:26- luck
- 1:29- with
- 1:31- that,
- 1:34- right?
- 1:36- Because just
- 1:39- good luck with that. Right? Because just being
- 1:41- human
- 1:42- is uncertainty
- 1:44- in and of itself, and disappointment
- 1:46- is unavoidable.
- 1:48- But eventually, we discover how exhausting that is.
- 1:53- But that does not mean that we're willing
- 1:54- to release control.
- 1:57- There are things we can influence.
- 1:59- There are things we're responsible for, and there
- 2:02- are things that simply belong to God.
- 2:07- So
- 2:08- maybe
- 2:09- what needs to happen
- 2:11- is that we have to continue this conversation
- 2:15- by looking at
- 2:17- ourselves and asking what am I trying to
- 2:19- control that is actually mine to control?
- 2:22- And even asking that question can be a
- 2:25- slippery slope. So we have to ask, God,
- 2:28- show me
- 2:30- what's mine
- 2:32- and show me what's yours.
- 2:35- It can be a very,
- 2:38- sobering,
- 2:41- process,
- 2:42- but definitely
- 2:43- worth it.
- 2:45- Then we name that thing
- 2:48- before God
- 2:49- because prayer helps us loosen our grip without
- 2:52- abandoning our responsibilities.
- 2:57- God always welcomes the conversation
- 2:59- and He
- 3:01- always wants to encourage us to partner with
- 3:04- Him.
- 3:05- Remember I often said that we can be
- 3:07- part of the answer to our prayer,
- 3:11- and that also involves us trusting God with
- 3:16- His.
- 3:18- Remember, He never leaves us or forsakes us
- 3:20- and always knows what's best for us.
- 3:23- That being said,
- 3:25- whatever the control issues or challenges you're facing
- 3:29- today regarding control,
- 3:31- let's take it to the throne.
- 3:33- Heavenly father, show us where we're trying to
- 3:36- control what belongs
- 3:38- to you and place it in your hands.
- 3:41- Give us wisdom
- 3:42- to handle our responsibilities and faith to release
- 3:45- everything else.
- 3:47- When we feel the need to control the
- 3:49- outcome,
- 3:50- remind us that we can always
- 3:53- trust in you because you always know what's
- 3:56- best,
- 3:57- and we will always give you the honor,
- 3:59- the glory, and the praise in Jesus' name.
- 4:03- Well,
- 4:04- today,
- 4:06- I challenge you to identify
- 4:08- one thing you're trying to control
- 4:11- and intentionally place it in God's hands.
- 4:14- I understand
- 4:16- it's easier said than done, but you can
- 4:18- do it.
- 4:19- And if you know someone who has been
- 4:22- carrying the pressure of trying to hold everything
- 4:24- together,
- 4:25- I encourage you to share this prayer with
- 4:27- him.
- 4:28- And as always, remember, you don't have to
- 4:30- control everything
- 4:31- to trust the one who holds
- 4:44- everything.
