Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: All right, it's Mikey, it's Amy Drodd, and it's Nat
- 0:05Speaker 2: with a hit of celeb gossip.
- 0:07Speaker 3: So Chris Brown has avoided jail time for that 2023
- 0:11Speaker 3: nightclub attack in London. So basically he and his vocal
- 0:16Speaker 3: coach were in this like members only club in Mayfair,
- 0:20Speaker 3: which is like a fancy area of London, when they
- 0:24Speaker 3: assaulted or attacked a a music producer and bottled him
- 0:28Speaker 3: with a tequila bottle.
- 0:29Speaker 2: So extreme.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Bottling is so hectic.
- 0:31Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 0:32Speaker 1: It's hectic.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Well, even like I know there's pubs in Sydney, there
- 0:36Speaker 2: were certain licence requirements put on them if they'd had
- 0:40Speaker 2: enough violent attacks. where they have to serve plastic after
- 0:43Speaker 2: a certain time because people were even getting a scooey
- 0:45Speaker 2: glass and smashing someone in the face. It's so aggressive.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It can cause such, like, damage.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and he was doing it with tequila.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Well, a big tequila, because, yeah, in America they serve
- 0:56Speaker 3: a lot of bottle service. This was like a big,
- 0:58Speaker 3: chunky tequila. thick glass tequila bottle and he hit the
- 1:01Speaker 3: guy in the head twice with it but it's like
- 1:04Speaker 3: are you trying to when you bottle someone are you
- 1:06Speaker 3: trying to kill them because that is very likely what
- 1:09Speaker 3: is going to happen could happen when you hit someone in.
- 1:11Speaker 5: The head anyway he's dodged jail time a few times
- 1:14Speaker 5: hasn't he he has he's.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Also gone to jail for short stints but given his
- 1:18Speaker 3: history of um you know the the things that he's
- 1:21Speaker 3: done he's avoided a lot of jail time that he
- 1:23Speaker 3: could have had So basically he got an eight month
- 1:25Speaker 3: suspended prison sentence, which means if he does anything in
- 1:29Speaker 3: the next 12 months in the suspended period, he will
- 1:32Speaker 3: go straight to jail. His music, sorry, his vocal coach
- 1:37Speaker 3: also pled guilty.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Oh, sorry. That was an exchange for him pleading guilty. Right.
- 1:41Speaker 3: And his vocal coach who was also involved also pled
- 1:43Speaker 3: guilty and got a four month suspended prison sentence. Okay.
- 1:46Speaker 3: So this is a little bit of audio from the
- 1:48Speaker 3: sentencing in court.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Fending Brown, including the repeated use of the bottle and
- 1:52Speaker 4: the need for the suspended sentence to retain an effective
- 1:56Speaker 4: deterrent force, justify the operational period that will follow. Your
- 2:04Speaker 4: sentence of eight months imprisonment will be suspended for 12 months.
- 2:09Speaker 4: You have spent time on remand in custody. That period
- 2:14Speaker 4: does not reduce the suspended sentence that I impose today.
- 2:19Speaker 4: but it will count automatically if the sentence is subsequently
- 2:22Speaker 4: brought into operation.
- 2:25Speaker 2: God, they speak a lot of dribble, don't they?
- 2:28Speaker 5: I know.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Say it in layman's terms, right?
- 2:30Speaker 3: We were going to put you in prison, but we
- 2:32Speaker 3: decided that we're not going to, but just don't do
- 2:35Speaker 3: anything wrong in the next 12 months.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Here's the thing, but, so that's in England, yeah, and
- 2:38Speaker 2: he's an American, so does he just not go back
- 2:40Speaker 2: to England? You know, you'd just avoid being there, wouldn't you?
- 2:44Speaker 1: I think.
- 2:45Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I don't understand the law enough to know, but I
- 2:48Speaker 3: think like as in you just can't re-offend in London.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Yeah. In England.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:53Speaker 1: If I was him, I'd be leaving the country. I'm
- 2:55Speaker 1: no lawyer.
- 2:55Speaker 3: The closest thing we have on this team is Zane
- 2:58Speaker 3: who studied law.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Sorry, Thing. So Thing, our team lawyer.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Would that be the deal, man? He just leaves the
- 3:03Speaker 2: country and doesn't come back.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Like if he re-offends in the US, does that consider.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Is that counted?
- 3:07Speaker 4: Yeah. No.
- 3:09Speaker 6: This gets complicated. If it's a big enough offence, then
- 3:12Speaker 6: UK police would try to work with US police to
- 3:14Speaker 6: get in there. That's what extraditing is. But it's a
- 3:17Speaker 6: lot of effort and they often don't bother unless it's
- 3:20Speaker 6: a really, really big deal.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I reckon he'll leave the UK and not come back.
- 3:24Speaker 2: We probably wouldn't let him in Australia then after that.
- 3:27Speaker 1: We didn't let him out in Australia. He hasn't been
- 3:30Speaker 1: allowed in Australia for many, many years.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah, right.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Also, this is making headlines, Donald Trump was at a
- 3:36Speaker 3: rally in Michigan. And I don't know if you know this,
- 3:39Speaker 3: but Nicki Minaj.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Is very publicly, well, she calls herself his number one fan.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah, she's gone all MAGA.
- 3:45Speaker 3: She's been going around campaigning alongside of him. And at
- 3:48Speaker 3: that rally in Michigan, he kind of introduced her to
- 3:52Speaker 3: the audience but made some interesting remarks about her while
- 3:55Speaker 3: he was doing it.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Let's have a listen to what he said.
- 3:57Speaker 5: By the way, I looked at one hell of a
- 3:59Speaker 5: beautiful * * * * before, Nicki Minaj.
- 4:01Speaker 1: That's... That's hard to miss.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Oh, my.
- 4:10Speaker 1: That's stand-up, Nicky. That's hard to miss. Did he just
- 4:14Speaker 1: say stand-up? He says one hell of a beautiful arse.
- 4:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And then tells it a stand-up. So, yeah, just blatantly
- 4:20Speaker 1: made comments about her arse. I mean, she would have
- 4:22Speaker 1: loved it. That's what she's known for, right? He said
- 4:25Speaker 1: later in the same kind of speech, he's like, I
- 4:27Speaker 1: hope she wasn't offended by what I said.
- 4:28Speaker 4: But.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I love that he sounds like Smithers from The Simpsons.
- 4:33Speaker 1: He does. Yeah, no, but she's a huge fan of Trump.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Also, Adrian Portelli, Aussie billionaire who's known from buying all.
- 4:41Speaker 1: The houses on the block. He's also got that LMCT
- 4:43Speaker 1: Plus subscription service.
- 4:45Speaker 3: So he was chatting to Chris Fade on his podcast
- 4:48Speaker 3: and was speaking about the fact that despite the fact
- 4:51Speaker 3: that he's worth billions of dollars, he actually hates rich people.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Let's have a listen.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Oh.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Money doesn't change people. I'm a big believer of that.
- 4:59Speaker 4: It just brings out the real person.
- 5:01Speaker 2: So if you're an a * * hole.
- 5:02Speaker 4: You're going to be more of an a * * hole.
- 5:04Speaker 6: You were an a * * hole.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Before the money, now you're going to.
- 5:07Speaker 5: Be an absolute a * * hole now.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I hate rich people. If they come from money.
- 5:11Speaker 1: They're even more of a a * * hole.
- 5:13Speaker 5: They're a a * * hole.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 5:14Speaker 2: So if you come from money, you're an arsehole.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Well, I figure like if you are born into a very,
- 5:19Speaker 5: very wealthy family and with a silver spoon in your mouth,
- 5:22Speaker 5: you probably are quite entitled without even meaning to be
- 5:26Speaker 5: because you don't know any different, right?
- 5:28Speaker 4: No, no.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and I do know some people that like were
- 5:30Speaker 2: born into super wealth.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Correct, yes.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeah, they're not. Not all of them are total bastards
- 5:35Speaker 2: or whatever, but they have no idea.
- 5:36Speaker 1: They're just out of touch, I think. They just don't
- 5:38Speaker 1: know any different.
- 5:39Speaker 3: But I always wonder, what did I do wrong to
- 5:42Speaker 3: not be born into a really rich family?
- 5:45Speaker 1: It's just luck in the drawer, isn't it? I know. But,
- 5:47Speaker 1: I mean, it could have been worse. It could have
- 5:48Speaker 1: been born into a way worse family.
- 5:50Speaker 5: Yes, of course.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I mean, worse. My family's great.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 1: We all know. Just not rich enough. No, but you
- 5:55Speaker 1: know all the families I'm talking about where they just never,
- 5:58Speaker 1: like a packer family. Oh, yeah. What do you do
- 6:01Speaker 1: to get born into a packer family?
- 6:03Speaker 2: Just, hey, look happy.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Yes. Adrian Portelli.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Oh, no, Packer.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 6:09Speaker 2: James Packer.
- 6:09Speaker 3: No, Adrian Portelli, though, for example, like he worked packing
- 6:12Speaker 3: shelves at Coles and stuff.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Like he was not born into money. How did he
- 6:16Speaker 1: make all these billions? That LMCT Plus. What's that? That
- 6:20Speaker 1: subscription thing where.
- 6:21Speaker 5: You like buy in and you can win a car
- 6:24Speaker 5: or a house and stuff.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I've never understood how they work, to be honest.
- 6:27Speaker 3: It's just like a lotto, but you've got to subscribe
- 6:30Speaker 3: to it. You can't just buy a ticket unless you're
- 6:32Speaker 3: a subscriber.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Yeah, okay. Is that like kind of what Mr Beast does?
- 6:36Speaker 1: No idea. He's the YouTube guy. I know Mr Beast,
- 6:40Speaker 1: but I don't know that he does a lotto thing. Oh,
- 6:42Speaker 1: there you go. Another business plan for you to look
- 6:45Speaker 1: at him. No, I think he just gives it away.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yeah, he's just loaded from being a big YouTube star.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so he just gives a lot of stuff away
- 6:51Speaker 1: off his own back. There you go.
