- 0:06Speaker 1: There have been countless reports of alleged encounters with extraterrestrial
- 0:10Speaker 1: beings over the years. Most involve a single witness describing
- 0:15Speaker 1: a strange sighting that lasted only a few fleeting moments
- 0:18Speaker 1: before disappearing again. But the cases that attract the greatest
- 0:22Speaker 1: attention are those in which multiple people, often unknown to
- 0:26Speaker 1: one another, come forward with accounts that appear to describe
- 0:29Speaker 1: the same phenomenon. Such was the situation that began to
- 0:33Speaker 1: unfold in rural Wyoming during the mid-1970s, a sequence of
- 0:38Speaker 1: bizarre encounters that would eventually lead witnesses to claim they
- 0:41Speaker 1: had come face-to-face with a mysterious race of beings known
- 0:46Speaker 1: only as the Star People. Even with the widespread growth
- 1:36Speaker 1: of the internet and social media in recent years, public
- 1:40Speaker 1: reactions to alleged UFO encounters often remain deeply sceptical. Those
- 1:46Speaker 1: who choose to speak publicly about such experiences often find
- 1:50Speaker 1: themselves subjected to intense scrutiny. In many cases, investigators will
- 1:56Speaker 1: look carefully into the background of the individuals involved. Personal histories,
- 2:01Speaker 1: past statements and lifestyle details may all be analysed in
- 2:06Speaker 1: an effort to determine whether there are any factors that
- 2:08Speaker 1: might cast doubt upon the reliability of the testimony being presented.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Other commentators approach the matter from a more technical perspective.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Photographs or video footage that accompany a report are frequently
- 2:22Speaker 1: studied in detail. with analysts searching for signs of manipulation,
- 2:26Speaker 1: misidentification or optical illusion. Even the smallest irregularity in an
- 2:32Speaker 1: image can sometimes be cited as evidence that a sighting
- 2:35Speaker 1: may not be as extraordinary as it first appeared. Yet,
- 2:40Speaker 1: every so often, a case emerges which manages to capture
- 2:44Speaker 1: wider attention despite this atmosphere of scepticism. These are the
- 2:50Speaker 1: incidents that involve multiple witnesses– or which occur across a
- 2:54Speaker 1: series of locations within a relatively short span of time.
- 2:58Speaker 1: When this happens, the story can begin to take on
- 3:01Speaker 1: a different character. One such case began to take shape
- 3:06Speaker 1: in rural Wyoming during the mid-1970s. Against a backdrop of
- 3:12Speaker 1: widespread reports of cattle mutilations and unexplained lights in the
- 3:16Speaker 1: night sky, several residents of the region came forward with
- 3:19Speaker 1: accounts of encounters that seemed to share a common theme.
- 3:27Speaker 1: On the afternoon of the 25th of October 1974, a
- 3:31Speaker 1: pickup truck belonging to the AM Well Service slowly pulled
- 3:35Speaker 1: to a halt along the edge of the Medicine Bow
- 3:37Speaker 1: National Forest in southern Wyoming. The vehicle had been borrowed
- 3:42Speaker 1: earlier that day by one of the company's employees, Carl
- 3:46Speaker 1: Higdon Jr., who had travelled out to the remote woodland
- 3:50Speaker 1: with the intention of spending a few quiet hours hunting elk.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Higdon was 41 years old at the time, and had
- 3:58Speaker 1: built a reputation amongst his colleagues as a dependable and
- 4:01Speaker 1: easygoing foreman. Away from his job, he was known to
- 4:06Speaker 1: enjoy spending time outdoors, and like many residents of the region,
- 4:10Speaker 1: he was a capable hunter who was comfortable navigating the
- 4:13Speaker 1: forests and open country that surrounded the towns. Earlier that year,
- 4:20Speaker 1: Higdon had purchased a new 7mm Magnum hunting rifle and
- 4:24Speaker 1: had been eager to put it to use. The forest
- 4:28Speaker 1: surrounding Medicine Bow were known to support a healthy population
- 4:31Speaker 1: of elk, and the trip was intended to be little
- 4:34Speaker 1: more than a routine hunting excursion. But when Higdon failed
- 4:37Speaker 1: to return home later that evening as expected, concern quickly
- 4:42Speaker 1: began to spread throughout his family. his wife Marjorie initially
- 4:47Speaker 1: assumed that he may simply have lost track of time
- 4:49Speaker 1: whilst out in the woods. As the hours passed, however,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and there was still no sign of him, her concern
- 4:56Speaker 1: grew into genuine alarm. Eventually, she contacted the local authorities
- 5:02Speaker 1: and reported her husband missing. At the same time, she
- 5:06Speaker 1: began telephoning friends, neighbours and several of Higdon's work colleagues.
- 5:11Speaker 1: asking if anyone had heard from him or might be
- 5:14Speaker 1: able to assist in searching the surrounding countryside. It would
- 5:18Speaker 1: not be until close to midnight that Carl Higdon was
- 5:22Speaker 1: finally discovered. When searchers reached the location of the AM
- 5:30Speaker 1: well service truck, they found him sitting alone in the
- 5:33Speaker 1: driver's seat. He appeared disorientated and strangely withdrawn. offering little
- 5:40Speaker 1: response to those attempting to speak to him. Higdon was
- 5:44Speaker 1: transported to the Carbon County Memorial Hospital, where medical staff
- 5:48Speaker 1: began assessing his condition. When Marjorie arrived later, the sight
- 5:54Speaker 1: that greeted her was deeply unsettling. The man lying in
- 5:58Speaker 1: the bed before her seemed almost unrecognisable from her husband,
- 6:02Speaker 1: who had left home earlier that day. His eyes were
- 6:06Speaker 1: red and watery. and he appeared physically unsteady, struggling to
- 6:11Speaker 1: walk without assistance due to an overwhelming sense of dizziness
- 6:15Speaker 1: and imbalance. Yet the most distressing discovery came when Marjorie
- 6:20Speaker 1: attempted to speak to him. To her shock, Higdon appeared
- 6:24Speaker 1: unable to recognise her. Over the following days, fragments of
- 6:30Speaker 1: memory slowly began returning to him. Eventually, Higdon told Marjorie
- 6:36Speaker 1: and his children that the experience had begun whilst he
- 6:39Speaker 1: was walking quietly through the forest in search of elk.
- 6:43Speaker 1: As he moved between the trees, he noticed a group
- 6:46Speaker 1: of five animals grazing in a small clearing directly ahead
- 6:50Speaker 1: of him. Carefully raising his rifle, Higdon took aim and
- 6:55Speaker 1: fired a single shot towards the animals. But instead of
- 6:59Speaker 1: the sharp recoil and thunderous report he expected, something far
- 7:05Speaker 1: stranger occurred. The rifle produced neither a sound nor any
- 7:10Speaker 1: kickback against his shoulder. Even more bizarre was the sight
- 7:15Speaker 1: of the bullet itself. Higdon later claimed that the round
- 7:19Speaker 1: appeared to leave the barrel as though it were moving
- 7:21Speaker 1: through thick air, travelling forward at an impossibly slow pace. Then,
- 7:28Speaker 1: after covering only a short distance, the projectile suddenly stopped
- 7:32Speaker 1: in mid-air, roughly 50 feet away. The bullet appeared to
- 7:37Speaker 1: flatten and distort, as if it had collided with some
- 7:40Speaker 1: unseen surface suspended in front of it. At precisely the
- 7:46Speaker 1: same moment, Higdon's entire body violently convulsed. He described the
- 7:53Speaker 1: sensation as being similar to an electric shock, causing every
- 7:57Speaker 1: muscle in his body to seize at once. The sudden
- 8:01Speaker 1: force of the experience threw him backwards, sending the hunter
- 8:05Speaker 1: crashing to the forest floor. For several moments he remained there,
- 8:10Speaker 1: struggling to regain his senses. When he finally managed to
- 8:15Speaker 1: sit upright again, he realised that he was no longer alone.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Standing nearby was a tall and imposing figure. The stranger
- 8:30Speaker 1: wore what appeared to be a tight-fitting black suit of
- 8:32Speaker 1: some kind and attached at the waist was a prominent
- 8:35Speaker 1: yellow emblem, shaped like a star. Although the being seemed
- 8:40Speaker 1: broadly male in form, its appearance was unlike any human
- 8:44Speaker 1: Higdon had ever encountered. The skin was dark yellow in
- 8:50Speaker 1: colour and the head was covered in thick strands of
- 8:53Speaker 1: material that resembled coarse straw rather than natural hair. Where
- 8:59Speaker 1: normal ears should have been two unusual protrusions extended outwards
- 9:03Speaker 1: from the sides of its head bearing an uncanny resemblance
- 9:07Speaker 1: to insect antennae. Its mouth was equally unsettling. Rather than
- 9:13Speaker 1: possessing lips the lower half of its face appeared to
- 9:16Speaker 1: contain little more than a narrow slit. Yet perhaps the
- 9:21Speaker 1: most disturbing aspect of the figure was the fact that
- 9:23Speaker 1: it did not appear to be standing on the ground
- 9:25Speaker 1: at all. Instead it hovered silently just above the forest floor,
- 9:32Speaker 1: suspended several inches above the ground where Higdon lay. As
- 9:37Speaker 1: the hunter slowly struggled back to his feet, he glanced
- 9:41Speaker 1: around the clearing and noticed that the elk he had
- 9:43Speaker 1: fired upon were still standing exactly where he had first
- 9:47Speaker 1: seen them. But something about them was terribly wrong. The
- 9:54Speaker 1: animals appeared completely motionless, frozen in place as though time
- 9:59Speaker 1: itself had somehow stopped for them. It was at that
- 10:03Speaker 1: moment that Higdon noticed something else nearby. Hovering just above
- 10:08Speaker 1: the ground a short distance behind the strange figure was
- 10:11Speaker 1: what appeared to be a metallic craft. The object was
- 10:16Speaker 1: cube-shaped and entirely featureless. with no visible doors, windows or
- 10:21Speaker 1: markings of any kind. Most striking of all, it produced
- 10:27Speaker 1: absolutely no sound. And then, just as Higdon believed the
- 10:32Speaker 1: situation could not possibly grow any stranger, the figure floating
- 10:37Speaker 1: before him began to speak. The being introduced itself to
- 10:45Speaker 1: Higdon as Orzo I, before calmly asking him how he
- 10:49Speaker 1: was feeling. Still shaken and struggling to comprehend what he
- 10:54Speaker 1: was seeing, Higdon found it difficult to respond. Sensing his discomfort,
- 11:00Speaker 1: the strange entity reached into its suit, produced a handful
- 11:03Speaker 1: of dark-coloured pills, and offered one to the bewildered hunter.
- 11:09Speaker 1: According to Higdon, the effect was almost immediate. Within moments
- 11:13Speaker 1: of swallowing the pill, he began to feel calmer. Regaining
- 11:18Speaker 1: his composure, he rose to his feet and continued speaking
- 11:22Speaker 1: with the unusual figure. After a brief exchange, he eventually
- 11:27Speaker 1: agreed to accompany Orzo I to the silent craft hovering nearby.
- 11:34Speaker 1: In later years, Higdon underwent sessions with a hypnotist in
- 11:38Speaker 1: an attempt to recover additional details of the encounter. Yet
- 11:42Speaker 1: even under hypnosis, he was unable to explain exactly how
- 11:46Speaker 1: he entered the vessel. there was no visible doorway or
- 11:50Speaker 1: opening anywhere on its surface. One moment he recalled standing
- 11:54Speaker 1: in the forest beside the cube-shaped object, studying it alongside
- 11:58Speaker 1: its dark-suited occupant. The next, he found himself inside. What
- 12:05Speaker 1: immediately struck Higdon was that the interior seemed impossibly large,
- 12:10Speaker 1: the space within the craft far exceeding what its modest
- 12:13Speaker 1: exterior dimensions suggested. He had little time to examine his surroundings, however,
- 12:19Speaker 1: before the scene shifted once again. After the briefest of moments,
- 12:25Speaker 1: he realised he was no longer inside the vessel at all.
- 12:28Speaker 1: The forest had vanished, and in its place stretched a
- 12:32Speaker 1: strange and unfamiliar landscape, dark and silent beneath an alien sky.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Several metres away stood a tall structure resembling a tower.
- 12:43Speaker 1: and Orzo I motioned for him to follow. The two
- 12:48Speaker 1: entered the building together, where Higdon discovered some kind of
- 12:52Speaker 1: lift waiting inside. This lift carried them upwards through the structure.
- 12:58Speaker 1: During the ascent, Orzo I explained that they had travelled
- 13:02Speaker 1: an extraordinary distance, more than 160,000 light-years from Earth. At
- 13:10Speaker 1: the top of the tower, Higdon was startled to see
- 13:13Speaker 1: he was not alone. Standing within the chamber were several
- 13:17Speaker 1: other humans who appeared just as confused and unsettled as
- 13:20Speaker 1: he was. Amongst them were animals, including several elk and
- 13:26Speaker 1: other forest creatures similar to those he had encountered earlier.
- 13:30Speaker 1: There followed a brief and uneasy exchange between those gathered there. Then,
- 13:35Speaker 1: a loud and disembodied voice echoed through the chamber. informing
- 13:39Speaker 1: Higdon that he was no longer required. The next thing
- 13:44Speaker 1: he remembered was opening his eyes in a hospital bed,
- 13:47Speaker 1: with his wife staring down at him. At first, Marjorie
- 13:55Speaker 1: found her husband's account difficult to accept. But several days later,
- 14:01Speaker 1: whilst washing the clothes Higdon had been wearing when he
- 14:04Speaker 1: was found, she discovered something unusual inside one of his
- 14:08Speaker 1: trouser pockets. It appeared to be a bullet. More specifically,
- 14:14Speaker 1: it was a perfectly flattened round. Marjorie's disbelief deepened further
- 14:21Speaker 1: when she accompanied Carl to a follow-up medical examination. Doctors
- 14:27Speaker 1: discovered that the kidney stones which had previously troubled him
- 14:30Speaker 1: had disappeared. Even more puzzling was the fact that several
- 14:34Speaker 1: old scars on his body, left behind from a past
- 14:38Speaker 1: bout of tuberculosis, were also gone. Marjorie was not the
- 14:43Speaker 1: only person left perplexed by the strange details surrounding the incident.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Police officers who investigated the location where Higdon had been
- 14:52Speaker 1: found also raised unusual questions in their report. The AM
- 14:58Speaker 1: Well Service pickup truck was only a two-wheel drive vehicle,
- 15:02Speaker 1: yet it had been discovered deep within a remote stretch
- 15:04Speaker 1: of terrain that should have been extremely difficult to reach.
- 15:09Speaker 1: The truck itself had become stuck in thick mud and
- 15:13Speaker 1: required considerable effort to recover. Yet, investigators were unable to
- 15:19Speaker 1: locate any tyre tracks showing how it had reached that location,
- 15:24Speaker 1: nor were there clear footprints in the surrounding area belonging
- 15:27Speaker 1: either to Higdon or to anyone else. It was almost
- 15:32Speaker 1: as though the vehicle had simply been placed there. In
- 15:37Speaker 1: the period following the incident, Carl Higdon agreed to give
- 15:41Speaker 1: newspaper interviews describing what he believed had happened to him
- 15:44Speaker 1: in the Wyoming wilderness. The attention brought scepticism, mockery and
- 15:50Speaker 1: intrusive scrutiny, and Higdon soon decided he wanted no further
- 15:54Speaker 1: part in the publicity surrounding the case. He returned to
- 15:59Speaker 1: his job and attempted to resume ordinary life, only occasionally
- 16:03Speaker 1: agreeing to speak with a researcher or undergo a polygraph test.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Beyond that, he avoided interviews and made no effort to
- 16:11Speaker 1: profit from the encounter. Just as importantly, he never made
- 16:17Speaker 1: any changes to his story. The central details remained consistent,
- 16:23Speaker 1: even as the years passed and public interest faded. Eventually,
- 16:29Speaker 1: researchers began linking his account to another strange series of
- 16:32Speaker 1: events involving Wyoming resident Pat McGuire. At around the same
- 16:41Speaker 1: time that Higdon claimed to have been taken to a
- 16:44Speaker 1: distant world, McGuire, a well-known rancher near Laramie, had been
- 16:49Speaker 1: dealing with an unsettling problem on his own land. He
- 16:53Speaker 1: operated a sprawling ranch of some 5,000 acres. and during
- 16:58Speaker 1: the summer of 1974, had made repeated complaints to the
- 17:02Speaker 1: county sheriff that unknown persons appeared to be killing his cattle.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Several animals were found dead under disturbing circumstances, with features
- 17:11Speaker 1: such as their ears and noses removed in a manner
- 17:14Speaker 1: that seemed both deliberate and precise. Alarmed by the repeated losses,
- 17:21Speaker 1: Maguire and his workers began keeping watch over the ranch
- 17:24Speaker 1: at night. As the stakeouts continued, the men reported seeing
- 17:30Speaker 1: strange lights moving silently above the property. These objects did
- 17:35Speaker 1: not behave like conventional aircraft. They manoeuvred without sound, and
- 17:40Speaker 1: occasionally descended to the ground some distance from the main buildings.
- 17:45Speaker 1: When the witnesses managed to get closer to one of
- 17:48Speaker 1: these lights, they claimed to see a metallic craft resting
- 17:51Speaker 1: on the land, from which tall shadowy figures emerged. Each
- 17:56Speaker 1: time one of the objects appeared, Maguire would discover another
- 18:00Speaker 1: mutilated animal the following morning. Eventually, determined to put an
- 18:07Speaker 1: end to whatever was happening, he enlisted the help of
- 18:10Speaker 1: a worker named Jimmy Ashley. The two men concealed themselves
- 18:15Speaker 1: at an isolated point on the ranch and waited in darkness.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Before long, one of the objects they had seen before
- 18:23Speaker 1: descended once again. This time, however, the two men stepped
- 18:28Speaker 1: out from their hiding place and moved to confront the trespassers.
- 18:36Speaker 1: As they drew nearer, Maguire noticed something unusual about Ashley's behaviour.
- 18:42Speaker 1: The ranch hand appeared to slip into a strange trance-like state,
- 18:46Speaker 1: his attention fixed entirely on the object. Without speaking, Ashley
- 18:52Speaker 1: dropped the equipment he had been carrying and walked straight
- 18:55Speaker 1: past Maguire towards the craft. Then he slowly reached out
- 19:01Speaker 1: and placed one hand against its smooth metal surface. The
- 19:06Speaker 1: moment he made contact with the object, the ranch hand
- 19:09Speaker 1: was suddenly engulfed in what Maguire later described as a
- 19:13Speaker 1: sheet of rolling flame. With a cry of pain, Ashley
- 19:18Speaker 1: collapsed to the ground and began rolling desperately across the
- 19:21Speaker 1: dirt in an effort to extinguish the fire that appeared
- 19:24Speaker 1: to be consuming him. At the same moment, the craft
- 19:29Speaker 1: shot upwards into the air, accelerating rapidly away into the
- 19:33Speaker 1: dark sky. Maguire rushed to assist his employee, who was
- 19:38Speaker 1: still crying out in pain. Yet, when he reached him,
- 19:43Speaker 1: what he discovered was deeply unsettling. Despite the flames that
- 19:49Speaker 1: had appeared to engulf him moments earlier, Ashley's clothing and
- 19:53Speaker 1: skin were completely unmarked. In the days that followed, Maguire
- 19:58Speaker 1: reported the incident to the police and explained that Ashley
- 20:02Speaker 1: had never seen quite the same afterwards. The ranch hand
- 20:06Speaker 1: soon left his job and moved away from the area.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Some time later, Maguire agreed to undergo hypnosis in an
- 20:14Speaker 1: attempt to recall what had taken place that night. Maguire
- 20:22Speaker 1: now recalled that he had experienced multiple encounters with the
- 20:25Speaker 1: occupants of the craft he had observed, whom he referred
- 20:29Speaker 1: to as the Star People. Each of the beings was
- 20:33Speaker 1: identical in appearance, standing well over six feet tall and
- 20:37Speaker 1: heavily built. yet somehow moving in such a way that
- 20:41Speaker 1: their feet never appeared to touch the ground. They possessed
- 20:46Speaker 1: abnormally large eyes, but where their mouths and noses should
- 20:49Speaker 1: have been, there were only shallow indentations, with no supporting features.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Much like the being encountered by Higdon, the star people
- 21:00Speaker 1: were dressed in black bodysuits of some kind, each featuring
- 21:04Speaker 1: a distinctive star-shaped buckle. In addition to taking tissue samples
- 21:09Speaker 1: from his cattle, the Star People warned Maguire of a
- 21:12Speaker 1: climate apocalypse that would wipe out much of humanity. They
- 21:17Speaker 1: instructed him to dig wells all around his property and
- 21:21Speaker 1: to stockpile as much water as possible, so that he
- 21:24Speaker 1: and his children might endure the trials ahead. For years,
- 21:29Speaker 1: Maguire's neighbours and fellow residents had insisted that the land
- 21:32Speaker 1: on his ranch was unsuited to irrigation. They were therefore
- 21:37Speaker 1: stunned when he went on to locate several underground water
- 21:40Speaker 1: sources there, and produce working wells with ease. Unfortunately for Maguire,
- 21:48Speaker 1: with each period of hypnosis, his ability to process the
- 21:51Speaker 1: information emerging from those sessions appeared to weaken. He began
- 21:56Speaker 1: warning others of the danger and claimed the Star People
- 21:59Speaker 1: had instructed him to father as many children as possible,
- 22:03Speaker 1: so that his lineage might survive the catastrophe. It came
- 22:07Speaker 1: as little surprise when his wife finally chose to leave him,
- 22:11Speaker 1: taking their children with her and leaving him alone on
- 22:14Speaker 1: the ranch. In 1982, Pat McGuire decided to run as
- 22:20Speaker 1: a candidate for state governor, but his stories of alien
- 22:23Speaker 1: abduction brought only humiliation, failure and financial ruin. He was
- 22:29Speaker 1: not treated seriously by the wider community and was eventually
- 22:33Speaker 1: forced to leave the ranch he had worked so hard
- 22:36Speaker 1: to maintain. Shunned by family and friends, he ultimately died alone,
- 22:42Speaker 1: surrounded by newspaper articles and notes about the star people
- 22:46Speaker 1: he claimed to have encountered. The two Wyoming accounts share
- 22:53Speaker 1: similarities not only in what was described, but also in
- 22:57Speaker 1: the effect the experiences appeared to have on the men involved.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Neither Carl Higdon nor Pat McGuire had any known history
- 23:06Speaker 1: of mental illness or substance abuse, Before the incidents, both
- 23:11Speaker 1: were regarded by friends and colleagues as practical, hard-working men
- 23:15Speaker 1: with little interest in attention or notoriety. There was no
- 23:20Speaker 1: obvious incentive for either of them to invent such extraordinary claims.
- 23:26Speaker 1: One possible explanation is that Higdon suffered some form of
- 23:29Speaker 1: psychological breakdown during his hunting trip, perhaps triggered by isolation
- 23:34Speaker 1: or stress. In time, Maguire may have learned of the
- 23:38Speaker 1: story and consciously or otherwise allowed it to influence his
- 23:42Speaker 1: own recollections. Yet, this interpretation does not easily account for
- 23:48Speaker 1: all the evidence. Higdon's disappearance and subsequent medical treatment were
- 23:54Speaker 1: documented in hospital records, whilst investigators also recorded the unusual
- 23:59Speaker 1: condition in which his vehicle was found. At the same time,
- 24:04Speaker 1: police reports confirm that a series of cattle mutilations occurred
- 24:07Speaker 1: on Maguire's ranch, supported by statements from several of the
- 24:11Speaker 1: men who worked there, including regarding the strange lights. Taken together,
- 24:17Speaker 1: these details create a deeply uncomfortable possibility. If the accounts
- 24:22Speaker 1: are even partially true, then something unexplained was taking place
- 24:27Speaker 1: in that corner of Wyoming during the mid-1970s. And if
- 24:32Speaker 1: something otherworldly really was visiting those remote ranch lands back then,
- 24:37Speaker 1: the most unsettling question may not be why they came,
- 24:41Speaker 1: but whether they ever truly left. Thank you. Thank you.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Thank you. stories.
