- 0:00Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and welcome to another episode
- 0:05of the United Church of Tonga Youth Devotion.
- 0:09The Bible readings for today is taken from the book of Leviticus chapter 26 verse 12.
- 0:16I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.
- 0:21And also Mark 2 verse 5, it says, When Jesus saw their face,
- 0:30he said to the paralyzed man, Son, your sins are forgiven.
- 0:36Our theme, blessings of obedience and the power of Jesus.
- 0:42In Leviticus 26, God tells his people, If you obey me, I will bless you.
- 0:50He promises to walk with us and take care of us, but he also warns,
- 0:57if we ignore him, life will be harder.
- 1:02An analogy of getting ready for church on Sunday.
- 1:07Every Tongan family knows that Sunday morning is serious business.
- 1:13You wake up early, iron your tupenu, polish your shoes and make sure your hair is neat.
- 1:22Your parents probably remind you a hundred times, don't be late.
- 1:28Have you got your Bible? Where's your envelope for the offering?
- 1:33Everything must be ready before church starts.
- 1:38Now, imagine if you wake up late, you rush to get dressed, can't find your other
- 1:45shoe, your hair is a mess, and by the time you're ready, your family has already left.
- 1:52You missed church because you weren't prepared.
- 1:57Our faith works the same way. If we prepare our hearts daily and obey God,
- 2:06we will always be ready for his blessings.
- 2:11If we ignore him and only remember him when there is a problem,
- 2:17we'll struggle, just like someone unprepared for Sunday church.
- 2:24In Mark 2, the paralyzed man had good friends who made sure he got to Jesus.
- 2:33They didn't let obstacles stop them.
- 2:36They even broke through a roof to get him to Jesus.
- 2:41And because of their faith, Jesus forgave him and healed him.
- 2:48So what does this mean for us?
- 2:51Number one, obedience brings blessings.
- 2:56Just like preparing for church, if we walk with God daily, we will see his favor in our lives.
- 3:06Number two, Faith makes a difference.
- 3:10The paralyzed man's friends didn't give up.
- 3:15Are we surrounding ourselves with people who help us get closer to Jesus?
- 3:22Number three, Jesus cares about our hearts first.
- 3:28Before anything else, he wants us to be spiritually prepared.
- 3:34The challenge for today, Are you prepared?
- 3:38Are you preparing your heart for God every day?
- 3:42Or are you only rushing to him when there is a problem?
- 3:47Let us pray. Lord, help us to prepare our hearts daily, just like we prepare for Sunday church.
- 3:58Teach us to walk with you and surround ourselves with people who bring us closer to you.
- 4:07In Jesus' name, amen.
